Great place

By Jill D |

Lunch here was very good, lots to choose from and ther service was very good as well. Liked the window seat so we could people watch.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff and lovely food

By Alison C |

During a recent stay in the East village, my husband and I visited this bar several times after finding it on our first night. Our teenage daughter was also with us, which was fine (even in the evenings) as long as we didn't sit at the bar. The staff are all really friendly, welcoming and helpful, and the atmosphere is buzzing in the evenings. It is more laidback during the day. The dishes on the menu all sound nice, and good value. We tried the chicken wings (hot and spicy version), which came with a delicious blue cheese dip as well as celery and carrot sticks, the chicken tenders (very nice), and the businessman's lunch (excellent). With the latter I asked to substitute waffle fries for the onion soup and this was no problem. The nachos and burgers we saw delivered to other customers also looked great. There were happy hours Monday-Thursday that made the beers and wines even better value, and food/drink deals after 8pm some evenings. The Malbec on the wine list is very nice, and we particularly liked the Narragansett beer. I would definitely return here next time I'm in New York, and recommend it to anyone visiting or staying in the East village area.

When B-Bar is closed this is not bad

By LastSecondTraveller |

B-bar is a converted gas station across the Street from Phebes. Unfortunately B-Bar is not always open. Last week they did not open because it was COLD outside, yep the sign on the door read "Closed due to the Cold Weather".... So we went to Phebes instead. Given an option, I would go to B-Bar, but Phebes is an ok second choice.

Disappointed Reservations

By Amada A |

My organization planned ahead to reserve the back room for a private event. I was told it was available and that there would be room for my party. After our event which was highly publicized on the radio, local NY newspapers and online media we brought our group on time and found that they had lied to us. All of our tables were taken and there was nowhere for our group to sit. We luckily went across the street to BB and Grill where service and tables were available to provide for us. Next time I am taking my business elsewhere. Absolutely disappointed and disgusted by such a huge oversight.

Great stop on a recent rtrip to the East Village

By Brian R |

Great Beer selection, cool atmosphere, great staff!! Stopped in for happy hour cocktails, had a great bartender, offering a really great draft selection.

Pleasant and welcoming

By dallas_blah |

Phebe’s is a reliable go-to when Peggy and I are in the neighborhood, and a terrific place for dinner before a show at the Public Theater, four minutes away. The vibe is sports bar. We like seeing games when we’re there. Service is excellent. Everyone serving seems sincerely dedicated to ensuring you have a good experience there. We’ve enjoyed Phebe’s wings, double cheeseburger, nachos (without meat), and Spinach and Artichoke dip. All the food we’ve tried is good to very good. There’s a Happy Hour with good values running until 8 PM, M-F. Cocktails we’ve tried and liked are Garden Gimlet, Smokey Tropic, Mango Habanero margarita (some of these are off their happy hour menu). We’ll go there again. BONUS good service TIP can be loud

Great place

By Beachfamilybum |

Food and atmosphere were great. Good location and accommodated our large party well. Beautifully decorated for the holiday. Salad wss amazing and everyone enjoyed their meals. Would definitely return next time in town.

Lively bar with great food

By elefante p |

Phebes is the place to go if you wish to spend a fun night out without breaking the budget. Sit at the bar to enjoy drinks or grab a sit and watch people from your quieter spot (it won't be too quiet but that's what a lively bar it's about!). The food is amazingly good. Order the nachos for a fun and super-tasty snack to enjoy whilst sitting at the bar. The stake is perfectly cooked and delicious (and not expensive)... and so is the NY cheesecake! Have fun!

great lunch!

By ianshamshey |

It was pouring rain recently one Saturday afternoon and I figured I could take refuge in a coffee shop in the area but no such luck. I came across Phebe's and decided to have a quick lunch. It is a large space, with a large bar as you walk in and then as you walk further back towards the restrooms, there is another smaller bar. I was seated immediately and after drying off somewhat, water and coffee arrived at the table. I was given a brunch menu but shortly after, listening to a fellow patron order, I could have ordered off the regular menu. I ordered the avocado toast which came on multigrain bread with crushed red pepper and olive oil and I decided to get two poached eggs for an extra $2. This also came with a side of home fries and a small salad. My food came quickly and due to the heavy rain, the restaurant was not really filled and I was told to take my time and there was no rush. Vera was my waitress, she was pleasant and accommodating, checking on me periodically to make sure everything was alright. She also filled my coffee cup multiple times. The meal was very good. The restroom was clean and well maintained. I would recommend and return.

Fun for Drinks with Friends

By ml849567 |

A few friends and I recently tried out Phebe's for drinks and appetizers after work and loved the atmosphere. It's a good mid-range spot for a happy hour--we went on a Wednesday and they had 10-cent wings with the purchase of a pitcher of beer. They also take reservations for parties up to six people if you call--a huge plus for us. The table was ready and waiting when we walked in. Good service too.

Good Food....Fun Vibe

By Jon C |

Stopped in for an early dinner with family.... Good beer selection, menu was interesting selections and had a taste for everyone. Burgers were fresh and tasty, salmon burger was also very good as well as veggie burger. Salads looked great as well as starters. Low key atmosphere, service was okay not too friendly but we ignored her coolness! Maybe just having a bad day!

Pretty cool

By PhilippaRoseTite |

Went with my son after passing it a few times. He had the half chicken which he loved, and I cant' remember what I ate to be honest. I do know it was very good, much more reasonable than most of the other places we had come across and the service was good. Very, Very loud though which made conversation tricky. Nice place, would go back.

A spacious Irish pub

A spacious Irish pub

Lovely staff and yummy food

By Charlotte C |

The staff here were very welcoming and accommodating. My food arrived quickly at a busy time and was lovely! It wasn't too pricey for the quality. Great location too. It was noisy but that's to be expected in NYC. It's great to see a business thriving.

Happy Hours at it best !

By William H |

Great Wings, and selection of Beers at unbelievable price during happy hours. Always have great time with friends at this place.

Phebe's is off my lower Eastside restaurant list!

By frankiez286 |

I have been here several times and always loved it; alas, however, today was a disaster. I do not eat meat, and they would not substitute anything for the bacon and sausage on the breakfast I was ordering. I asked the person who said he was the manager (I doubt it) if they would take something off my bill total... He said they would, and of course, when I was ready to go, he couldn't be found. Our lunch was lukewarm, eggs and potatoes rubbery, the coffee had a strange under taste, our wait person brought coffee to the next table and didn't even look our way. It was loud and cold on a cold, rainy afternoon. Don't go there! Need I say more?

College Party

By Mikeyya2 |

Favorite place for late night. I enjoy that it is packed and there are always people there that I know from College or HS. Mostly under 28 crowd and the drinks are well priced. It is very loud though.

Youthful Spot, the place to go after a hard days work!

By Sammy C |

We three old goats now in our 60's, who share memories since kindergarten, stopped in for a late lunch before taking a candle light tour of the famous Treadwell Mansion last week. I found it to be a tidy establishment, roomy and comfortable. There are booths, tables and ample counter space. There is also a section for parties which we discovered as there was one in progress. The staff was courteous, the food well presented, and considering the location it was reasonable priced. The decor was interesting with out attempting to out do their neighbors. I suggest when visiting you go during the lunch period and get in on the specials. The prices are very reasonable and you will avoid the noise and crowds of the yuppies that flock to Phebe's during happy hour. Of course if you are into that sort of thing ... this is your spot.

Very good at what it is

By 379mareks |

If you expect a very solid, testy and fresh bar-type food, then you hit a jackpot. Place isn't expensive, atmosphere is very pleasant and for a typical NYC bar I'd highly recommend this joint. Plenty of TV screens will please a lot of sports fans watching all sorts of games.

Halloween Beers!

By NYCadventure25 |

I went on Halloween and the environment was fun. This is the NYC Bengals bar so you would be best advised to expect a football crown. Keep and eye out for the Bengals crowd leader Jarrett, he will definitely buy you a beer if you listen to his Cincinnati stories!

Excellent food, quick and efficient service

By Amelia Hastings |

Really great food, lovely atmosphere, reasonable prices! I recommend the Phebs burger! Mouthwatering and great mix of flavours! Would recommend to anyone!

Staff was great!

By MissWatermelon |

I loved this restaurant. Great ambiance, clean restroom, great food, decent wine list. The waitresses were beautiful and treated my seven year old daughter really well.

Calm, warm, welcoming spot

By Kevin Campbell |

We'd tried to get into McSorley's Ale House, but it was jammed to the rafters. Walking back down Bowery in the cold we picked Phebe's more out of necessity than anything else - we got lucky. It was pretty quiet mid afternoon on a Friday, with plenty of room at the bar. The overall feel was very much of a British pub - bare wood floors, simple walls, and a no-frills feel. It was exactly what we were looking for. Bar staff were helpful and welcoming, and the draft Brooklyn Lager was excellent - something I hadn't tried before. We had a couple of pints while feeling returned to chilled toes and fingers, but didn't stop for food. I'd go back again in a second.

A NYC Neighborhood Bar

By Richard B |

A great neighborhood bar. I think of NYC as being big and unfriendly (which is absolutely not true). It was fun to spend some time in a place where everyone is a regular. Food was very good, friendly staff, etc. Wish I could be a regular.

Great solid bar

By DA2311 |

Great place to grab a drink and relax or dance the night away. Solid bar, good music and vibes. I'd recommend if you are in the area and looking for a place to have some fun.

fun busy spot in the Village

By Jeffrey P |

My wife and I were going to a play at the Public theater at Astor Place. We had some time and found ourselves at Phebes for dinner. The staff was very friendly and lively. The mac and cheese was very good and my burger was excellent. We did not have wings but watched a lot go by. They looked great so when we go back that will be the first thing I order. This is more a Pub than a restaurant and caters to the NYU college crowd. It was loud but that was fine with me........my feeling was that it was full of life and energy.

bringing back the college memories!

By alanzaa |

I came here with a friend on Saturday night. It is a cool bar, they play nice music and I assure you that you'll have a good time. It gets reeeeally crowded after 11pm, it's almost impossible to walk around. Drinks are okay, nothing spectacular.

Great Spot

By D8Grant |

Ideal place for food - excellent service even though it was busy , ended up staying around for a drink - real New York locals bar in the heart of the city - very friendly staff - will be back for sure

Real Food at Regular People Prices

By Julie S |

Trying to find a place to eat that isn't $$$$ can be tough in NYC. I've paid $6 for a thimbleful of Diet Coke and $22 for a G&T. I wanted a good meal and not take out a mortgage so I asked the salesperson at Strand bookstore and she recommended Phebes. A good steak dinner with yummy fries and tasty sautéed zucchini with a large Diet Coke for $28 before tip. We have a winner.

Great Tavern for Lunch

By trophy_wife56 |

First day in NYC and we wind up at Phebe's on a rainy Monday. Servers were helpful and the lunch menu was so reasonable for NY and selection was amazing. The Bacon Avocado Egg Sandwich was wonderful but the Steak Flatbread was the winner. I hate taking pictures of food at a restaurant but I wanted to attempt to make it at home and the photo was necessary. The steak was cooked to perfection on top of the spinach, cheese and caramelized onions. What a great way to kick off the week of eats in NYC.

Best wings hands down!!

By MinotSt |

I have always heard about the wings at Phebe's being good but I had no idea just how good they really are. I got them medium heat, extra, extra crispy and they were PERFECT!!! I haven't stopped thinking about those wings for 2 weeks :) Also a great beer selection and a super friendly staff, didn't mind letting me sample a few different beers before making a final decision. I'll definitely be back.

Great food/prices

By Doreen B |

I recently visited Phebes. The food was delicious. The staff was great. The prices were reasonable. We recommend getting the nachos! !

Bengals bar!

By 832dublin202 |

This is an amazing pub for Bengals football games. They also serve Cincinnati skyline chili and all the local Cincinnati skyline chili food. If you're a Bengals fan, this is a must go to for all games.

Great Food and Atmosphere

By jsmith294 |

Food was delicious, beer was cold, location and atmosphere were great! We were a good sized party of ten. Food came out quickly and was worth coming back for. Try the Spinach Dip appetizer and the Businessman Sandwich. The only reason it's a four star review and not five is because the service was not the best. Waitress was sweet but inattentive. One round of drinks and she never came back to offer more. We would come back and try again.

Great lunch spot

By Steve Z |

Great location, really affordable for where it is, and it’s just a nice looking place. Good place to go for a quick bite or a couple of drinks.

A great pub!

By annaraphaela |

It's one of my favorites low cost restaurant in NY: an original American tavern, with local country and rock music. I've already tried burgers, soups, pasta and the fish of the day and all of them were always amazing! Amazing location, nearby NYU, Kaplan course. Very nice service too. It's always my option when in NY.

My NYC 'local'

By chameleontel |

One of my first port of calls whenever I visit NYC. Always lovely, friendly staff and superb food. I actually visit this place every day that I am in New York, I love it that much. Missing it already. PS, on this trip I actually got to have a chat with the (very friendly) manager who supplied me with a 'Phebe's'. Shirt....*much appreciated*.

Nice Burger

By Ilanfreedman |

I had a nice hamburger with cheddar cheese on it, with a side order of French fries. The tavern was decorated for the Cincinnati Bengals.

Not exactly bright, but good food

By Oliver S |

Phebe is the Latinized version of a Greek word meaning “bright & pure”. Being a language aficionado, I could not pass by without giving it a try. It turned out to be a rather darkish place but the food was very good and reasonably priced. Fresh vegetables, good olive oil, meat and fish cooked exactly as requested. Very good service, too. It was too hot to drink, but I noticed a well stocked bar. BTW, the name on the wall is Phebe's Tavern. On the web site, it goes by Phebe's restaurant. It definitely is NOT PHEBES (which is the only way it exists on TA.

Mac & Cheese

By petrojr1 |

Phebe's has been a stable in the neighborhood for years. When I worked in the area over 20 years ago, was a nice place to go for drinks and snacks. Went with my family and we were very happy with the choice. Mac and cheese is delicious. Had the Jack Daniels burger and it was very good.

Early Dinner

By Al M |

I ate an early dinner outside where it was quite comfortable. I enjoyed one of their specialty gin drinks... something rather different and pleasant. The pasta special was very good... served with four huge jumbo shrimp in garlic and oil... splendid. The waitress was efficient and friendly. The prices were very reasonable.

GREAT LUNCH DEALS

By Delia_Serrano |

Food and service are GREAT. We LOVE Eleni, she is always so happy and cheerful and attentive to us. Their steak flatbread lunch special and their fried chicken fingers sandwich lunch special is SO GOOD. Try their spicy slaw.

Fun Evening

By April B |

Great atmosphere and food was lovely . Service was very good but quite expensive . But you get big portions so worth it .

Noisy bar restaurant

By ozart8116 |

Very reasonable meal here, but the noise level made it hard to have a conversation and the chairs were pretty uncomfortable. Food was pretty good and reasonable.

Average pub

By Julie H |

We decided to stop here because we saw a FIFA game on television and thought we'd stop in for a quick bite and a pint of beer. No one served us where we were sitting so I went up to the bar and ordered our food and our beers. The food was good and the pints were cold. The pub cleared out after the game and we still had a hard time getting service. The bartender was too busy on her cell phone to look after us.

Bar food but really good

By Patrick D |

We have Been here few times and never been disappointed with the food And the service has always been great. We Just had a really good chili and a vegetable wrap They were both delicious And large portions also their Beer and wine list is very good

Amazing Food with Enormous Portions

By Gini C |

Best veggie burger I've eaten in a restaurant; grilled asparagus - wow!! Light, tasty Sauvignon blanc. Nachos could feed 100+. Excellent service from Gina.

Busy bar, packed social spot!

By Alex D |

We stopped in for drinks on two different nights. Saturday where the line was huge and the crowd massive, and Sunday where it was much quieter and we actually had a blast chatting and hanging out with the bartender(s). This place is a lot of fun, nice atmosphere inside and a great crowd. And on the Sunday night, a whole different vibe of just relaxing and enjoying some good cocktails, chatting with the bartender and meeting a few other people in for similar reasons. Great spot!

My NYC local.

By chameleontel |

Never been at night but whenever I'm in NY this is one of my favourite bars, very friendly and welcoming. Good food and in my opinion lovely bar staff. Gina always remembers me and gives me a warm welcome, and on this trip I had the pleasure of meeting the delightful Fiona from Dublin. I always leave this bar with a warm feeling inside.

Perfect St. Patrick’s Day spot for drinks and snacks.

By 895default |

We were staying a couple of blocks away at The Bowery Hotel and stopped in for part of our Celebration. Great service from our lovely server who has a Canadian boyfriend! The wings were almost as good as the originals from Buffalo! A few glasses of wine and we continued on back to our hotel. Thanks!

Cool Place - Great Food

By Thomas K |

Stopped in for a quick dinner with my wife before a show at the New York Theatre Workshop which is just down the street. The reviews were right on. Great place with great bar food. We both had the Black Jack Burger after reading several of the reviews and we were not disappointed. Only two complaints. The Happy Hour specials are confusing as it appears there are a variety of 1/2 price offers, but once inside reviewing the menu etc you can't figure out what's what. Second, although our server was very pleasant and competent, the service was slow. It was fairly busy, and it seemed maybe she was a bit overwhelmed with the number of tables? In any case, if we are in that area again we would definitely stop again. The prices are reasonable and the ambiance inside is great as is the location.

Worst staff in New York

By Fiona J |

DO NOT GO HERE THE BOUNCERS ARE OUT OF CONTROL. Went to this bar with friends who have been going for over five years and got treated absolutely terribly. One of the bouncers shoved me out of the way and I have a huge bruise and scrapes.

Good unpretentious food in a welcoming environment

By Nicolas C |

Nice place, good food, reasonably priced. It was a bit loud at times with parties of office workers but overall a good atmosphere and friendly staff from start to finish.

Good basic pub food. Good price

By PhillyGuy88 |

Went there for lunch. Menu is a typical pub fare of burgers, salads and sandwiches; and a half dozen other entres. The smoked salmon sandwich I had was good. I do highly recommend their roasted red pepper soup though.

Large Group; Good Service

By Kathleen D |

I was a little concerned about our large group (11 people plus toddler) on a Friday night during Happy Hour, but service was great, quick, and our meals were fantastic! High chair was available for us to use and we were put back into a larger room so we had some privacy. The bar was hopping and noisy but you would never know it and we could enjoy conversations while we ate. They were accommodating with our orders and even though they would not give us separate checks, they were good about splitting it at the register.

Drinks and dancing on a Friday night

By abbylok89 |

Went here on a Friday night for drinks and dancing. Cool space with a couple different bars to order from. Reasonable prices and good DJ playing mostly top 40 music. Busy but not too crowded, and no super long lines.

A safe choice!

By CarrieBradshaw3 |

I've eaten here a couple of times and it doesn't disappoint! The only downside is that its a little dark and noisy for diners rather than drinkers. Good burgers and beers, with a good atmosphere/vibe

Shocked that it exist and the establishement allows it

By Stephen L |

all was lovely until i notice the waitstaff started take away drinks when its still full. i said something to the staff there asking why. seems that it hit a spot. the bouncers came up and threw me out immediately. wow. i was shocked and amazed. go there at your own peril.

Welcome respite

By BuffaloGal |

We walked by after a performance at the Amato Opera House up the street and spotted a diner at Phebes with what looked like a fabulous platter of nachos. Looked at my partner and asked, "Hungry?" Some really good beers on tap, a super sweet server and a great plate of nachos for me. (Partner had a sandwich...also enjoyed.) We're quite a bit older than their usual customer but could not have felt more welcome.

Nice atmosphere, good music

By Jamie P |

The crowd at Phebes is interesting - a little bit dive bar, a little Irish pub with a bit of hipster thrown in. There was a line when we got there at around 1am on a Saturday night, but it moved quickly. Good beer selection, quick service and good music. What more can you ask for from a bar? I hear the food is good, though I didn't try any myself. The bar was spacious, even with the crowds and clean.

A Perfect Stop for Lunch

By Travel50StatesUSA |

Was visiting a museum in the area, when we decided to stop in for a quick lunch. We were pleasantly welcomed into the restaurant, and were able to pick our own table. The menu has "something for everyone", and the prices cannot be beat. The food arrived quickly, and was delicious. If we were staying closer to Phebe's while we were in the city, we would have definitely returned for dinner...maybe, on the next trip. Go see for yourself, you will not be disappointed!!

Good local bar

By thomasr888 |

This place has been here for years, and I had a good time here catching up with an old friend. Good service, thoughtfully presented beers, drinks and munchies and that local, easy feel to it in terms of ambiance that is hard to come across in Manhattan.

ONE OF THE VERY BEST!!!

By J Page |

No question about it; Phebe's rocks, literally and figuratively. In a town chocka block full of bars, pubs, and restaurants, I gotta tell you, Phebes just won my heart over. Along with an energetic and vibrant crowd - of all ages (including me at 57 and with my 22-year old daughter, sitting at the bar...served beautifully by the beautiful and beautifully named Camille) - we all watched today's Preakness (excitedly won by Derby winner California Chrome) and management not only went out of their way to put Closed Captions on but turned up the sound before during and after the race...and, no, not every place would do that! Thank you so much Fiona and Paul, YOU rock! Oh yeah, great drinks all around and the food was fabulous (great wings, salads, and perfectly cooked bacon cheese burger). No question we'll be back!

Packed on a Tuesday night

By worldcitizengirl |

I went there to meet some friends on a Tuesday night, it was pretty crowded. They had enough bartenders to cover though and yet service was slow. I ordered an Irish coffee and I've never had anyone mess up that drink. Suffice to say it did not taste like an Irish coffee. Didn't even taste like any coffee. That was my one and only drink. If it wasn't for good company, I would have rated this place lower.

Not good

By david t |

Wife and I stopped in for brunch we were seated immediately after that it went downhill we waited 15 minutes before water was bought to the table then we waited another 20 minutes before we realized we were forgotten about I don't know if it's routine in this place but I would not go back due to the horrible service we got up and walked out

Cozy Pub

By Hugh |

Phebe is perfect for a bite and a beer. I had a good lunch before the theater. The location was convenient to the Public Theater with a warm atmosphere with table seating. The prices are good and the chicken soup was really homemade. service was friendly but a little slow

Excellent food for price

By Happybbbb |

Came here because it was close in proximity to where we were. It’s a very quaint restaurant with a nice vibe. I had the fish catch of the day and it was excellent. Everyone loved their meal and it was very well priced. Went to a chair restaurant the night before and it was horrible compared to Phebes. Excellent service and food and me and my whole family would recommend it for sure.

Noisy Pub

By traveler591 |

My husband and I stopped into Phebes to eat dinner prior to seeing our son perform at a theatre down the street. It was at the beginning of happy hour so we requested a table in a "quieter area". Our table ended up being in an OK spot-- but was still too much on the edge of the bar area. We had an extremely hard time carrying on a conversation. And, interestingly, like another reviewer noted, the chairs were not very comfortable. The fries were excellent, the burger OK, fish was good. Prices were very reasonable for this type of setting. The service was extremely poor -- we were seated quickly but it took awhile for a server to approach our table. Then we had to wait quite a bit for our order to be taken. Someone else brought us our food - our server wasn't in sight. We ran out of drinks -- still no server. We finished eating and sat -- still no server!! Finally we flagged down the hostess to request she find our server for us to get the check -- just as our server came around a corner -- so she then came over to our table. Took a bit to get the check and have it returned to the table -- which was returned without a word of thanks for coming in! Very poor!! Maybe we weren't dropping enough money (there were only 2 of us and no alcohol was purchased during the visit) to make it worth her smiling and thanking us?? Kind of ironic because I used to be a server -- and I would have left a hefty tip had she at least acted like she was sorry for hardly coming to our table! I guess the moral to the story is that this is a great place if you're interested in happy hour -- the bar area was packed! But if you'd like a sit down dinner where you can actually carry on a conversation - this is not the place to go! On a side note...they only have one open entrance (we were told not to use a side door when preparing to exit the restaurant). The entry is a split door - and they had the left half of it locked! Not sure how this can meet fire codes - especially with the number of people present in the bar area but...

Bouncer

By Jess A |

Many people say the bouncers at this place are out of control. The head bouncer there is a sociopath. He circles around the bar like a shark and creepily stares at random people. He then either walks away and looks for another victim or comes up to you shining his flashlight and tells you to leave. It’s clearly noticeable when he harasses others like this (even the staring without shining the flashlight) and I say harassment because it doesn’t look like anyone is ever really doing anything wrong

Great vibes!

By Madonna D'souza |

Visited this place on a pub crawl night and it was a good choice. The vibe, music and the food was incredible. The whiskey cocktails are well made and the food is fresh and delicious.

Good place for a drink

By russkwtx |

We stopped here for drinks after a day of walking around Manhattan. It's a laid back bar on Lower East side. Cool ambience with a neighborhood feel. Background music is rock with lots of Guns n' Roses who I bet is coming to NYC on their summer 2016 tour. (I wonder where they'll play, MSG?) Anyway, there is a decent selection of draft and bottled beers that run $7. The wife tried the Mony Mony ($12) and really liked it, but it is so tasty that you drink it fast and want more. There are some other places in the neighborhood that I want to try but I would return here.

Great bar to enjoy a game

By Joamiche |

Great bar to watch sports; they accommodate any request to change channels; they have plenty of screens, tables (outside as well) & space. A must go to enjoy a game !

Great food, great atmosphere

By kbead |

The vibe of this restaurant is perfect. We just wanted a quick dinner before a show and this was delicious. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a place to stop. The fries were delicious!

A nice surprise

By Paola B |

We went for lunch, my family obviously had the smash burger while I had vegetables and hummus (incredible to find it in such a place, right??) super!!

Lovely local bar

By Lisa V |

Popped in here on the off chance after getting a bit lost trying to find a shop that my son wanted to go to. Was around 4pm ish, not too busy, friendly, efficient and reasonable prices. Ordered chicken wings, fish and chips, steak BLT,, all very nice and big portions! Would definately recommend if you are in the area

Great place

By Kerzy |

Called for drinks as we had already eaten. Lovely bar/restaurant, had a good vibe. Service good and food looked lovely as far as we could tell. Would recommend.

Amazing Experience & Service & Atmosphere!

By Peter W |

Super bowl Sunday was my first every time visiting Phebe's and I must say it was truly packed which is to be expected being the restaurant is a Bengals bar. Great atmosphere and a good time. The service was amazing even though you could not even walk in the restaurant our group still got great service from Kayla & Renee. Every time we where ready to order Kayla and or Renee came right over to ensure we had what we needed. I think we must have ordered five skyline chilis which was amazing and we never had to wait long for the food. Again given how busy it was service did not lack. Everyone was very helpful but Kayla & Renee who worked on Sunday night was spot on! Other than that the Bengals did not pull off the W it was a great night. Thank you Phebe's and team for making it a memorable night for our group that visited. Thank you! Peter Wenzell

Order the quinoa bowl!

By rachelh486 |

We stopped here for lunch. The service was not great, but the food was good. There were not many customers seated while we were there, so I am uncertain when why had to wait so long to be get service...My husband had chicken quesadillas and I had a quinoa bowl. The quinoa bowl was delicious, here is what I recall about it: quinoa, arugula, small pieces of roasted vegetables, dried cranberries, a little mint. It was YuMMy!

Girls night out!

Great bar. Awesome atmosphere. Great drinks and bar food to snack on; unfortunately food was gone before pictures were taken. Whenever I am back in New York, will revisit. Definitely recommend this place.

Slow service, unremarkable food

I booked Phebe's to meet up with an old friend/colleague who moved to the US over a year and a half ago and since I'm visiting I thought I'd look up a place that had great American comfort food and the reviews, particularly for the burger, were excellent. I was sorely disappointed. While the young lady who sat us down was friendly and took our order, the food took quite a long time to come and I immediately asked for some mayonnaise from the person who finally brought our food but it never came. I eventually decided to flag down someone, which took some effort because no one seemed to be paying any attention to people at the tables (one couple walked to the entrance with their bill in hand later that evening). When we finally got the attention of one of the male staff (I don't want to call him a server because he didn't seem happy to be flagged down by us and we did discuss afterward if maybe we offended him because he wasn't meant to be serving but later it seemed he was - very confusing) and eventually got our mayo which I was already walking towards the kitchen for. When I finally got a bite of my burger - which I was starving for because I was on jetlag, it was 7pm and I hadn't eaten anything since the night before - it was not as advertised in the reviews. I immediately told my friend it was really not good, and she asked if I wanted to change it but I couldn't bear the thought of waiting even longer and I was so hungry I ate it anyway and dipped it into the blue cheese dressing for the wings just to add flavor. I asked for it to be cooked medium but it appeared to be well done and was not juicy at all and could have used another slice of cheese. I wish I had just gone to Shake Shack instead and had a superior burger and faster service. I said as much to my friend. Anyway I wasn't going to let my bad food spoil our reunion. We ordered the buffalo wings which were standard. My sweet potato fries were the best thing I had dipped in mayo and my friend said her pasta was good so at least one dish was good. I am annoyed that I wasted one of my meal times at this place when I have limited time in the States particularly NYC so I strongly recommend against this for both the food and service. And it was a Monday evening 7pm so it was not full.

A lovely bar with amazing nachos, only went in for one and got so cosy we stayed the night. Staff really pleasant especially Jack the Irish bar tender chatted and made us feel so welcome thanks for the hangover and a great night Jack

Brilliant spot for a filling, tasty and cheap lunch.

Stumbled across this place as walking around East Village and decided to give it a try, based on the funky/arty diner atmosphere. We ordered a businessman lunch special, consisting of a very deep fill roast beef sandwich, rocket salad, onion soup and a pint of local beer (about $12) and a strip (sirloin) steak and potato on flatbread, with mash, provolone, caramelised onions and truffle oil ($9, and it was a full sirloin!). portion sizes were very generous, food was fresh, well executed and very tasty. Will definitely visit again if back in NYC.

Young crowd, Great weekend bar

I came here with a group of friends on a Saturday night. The bar itself had a long line to get in, but we managed to pass through within about 10 minutes. The drinks are average for the area with multiple bars inside. It was crowded throughout the night with the majority of people in their early twenties. Good DJ and dancing later on.

If you want to try the worst burger in the US, this is the place

It is difficult to find a worse burger anywhere. The meat was horrible, the French fries, uneatable, and the whole experience, to forget. The waitress was nice, though, the salad, ok, and the manager, very rude (we had a problem with a credit card and I have never seen any manager so rude returning the card, just unbelievable. We left a tip for the waitress, that at least was attentive, although she could have asked why I had left the burger all out untouched)

Appealing & Comfortable on LES

I had lunch here on a Saturday and will definitely stop back when I'm in the area again. It's large and roomy inside - nice bar with old woodwork (faux, but still atmospheric) which was busy with couples and singles having a drink and/or eating at the bar. Windows line two sides of the restaurant, so you can watch the world go by on the Bowery or 4th street. Tables are not jammed together, so it feels spacious. I had a Jack Burger that was delicious! Bacon, cheese and a Jack Daniels sauce. The bacon was SOOOOO good - really crispy, not that flabby, sort of cooked or tough microwaved texture - and there were 3 full strips. The sauce wasn't noticeable which was fine with me. Well cooked and just really good. It comes with various options for fries and I went with sweet potato fries. Presented standing up in a paper wrapped metal basket, some were thin & crispy, others were chunkier but all were hot and flavorful. Also, each tables gets a carafe of ice water which was a nice touch so I could re-fill my glass as needed. Service was fine - attentive but not pushy or too friendly. I bet this is a great spot in the evening!
