Just stopped in for drinks

By Shawn Y |

Great pub. Went to the upstairs bar and had a few drinks. We were able to converse and watch some golf on the big screen. We want to return for lunch some time as the menu looks great.

True Pub Experience

By Daughter_earth |

The food was very good and the service was outstanding. The highlight was my daughter's chicken pot pie which was a generous helping topped with puff pastry.

A great place for Munster fans

By AnnieLu2 |

Well I was delighted to see so many items to follow the great Munster team of rugby!!! The food too is not so bad. Really enjoyed some basis Irish food and some proper Irish drinks!!

Perfect pre-MSG stop

By Jimmy B |

Nice bar, friendly staff. Food is good and it's a winner. Nothing fancy but for burgers, beers and a great place to hang out, it's a winner

Decent NYC pub

By Justin M |

We went here after Top of the Rock to watch World Cup. The environment was alright, and the burger was very good. It's NOT in the 'bottom of the rock' as it says on the website - it's several blocks over. Overall decent experience.

Top bar

By TeamWard |

Pig N Wiistle is an Irish sports bar and its perfect, great atmosphere, quality alcohol choices and best of all I saw NFFC 2nd half live ok a TV and we got a point result

Great Place for Friends to Meet

By GeoffNYCNy_Ny |

Such a great friendly environment close to Penn Station and Madison Square Garden. Bar staff knowledgable, friendly and alert. Waiters and waitresses attentive and friendly and seemed to enjoy working in the relaxed environment. Very good selection of beers and other liquors and the food is very good. All in all a well managed and popular bar/restaurant.

Skip it and don't waste your time

By TracyZ19 |

I will admit up front that this was an "unscheduled" stop not previously researched with TripAdvisor. It was late afternoon, we'd been walking around all day, and I was hungry! Well, the service sux. Every time we needed something (to order, a drink refill, to pay) we had to get up and find someone because they were all off giggling with the bartender. The food is definitely nothing to rave about - even for pub food. The calamari had no flavor & the salad was big hunks of corse ends. Just not nice. No, I won't go here again. You should think about skipping it too.

Great family value&central

By Tracy M |

This was a good restaurant for families, especially if you are getting your bearings & it may be your first night. It is central, the staff were very friendly and the portions were more than generous (common theme throughout America). They gave the younger children colouring to do which was great. I believe this was a chain, this one was near 53rd street and I believe one of the better ones. Burgers, fish & chips, nuggets, pasta, lasagne etc. & reasonable. Be careful of alcoholic spirits- they serve doubles, in the US the measures are larger than the UK. Only negative was the lighting - quite dark. If you have a young family get there earlier, rather than late as there is also a popular bar which locals frequent after work.

Comfort food, fast, friendly service

By britlitteacher |

Pig 'n' Whistle was less than a block from our hotel so we headed over. Nice variety on menu and all our choices were really good, especially the burger and shepherd's pie (though actually cottage pie, not shepherd's pie). Service was fast and friendly--our tea was refilled quickly, dishes brought out quickly. Nice comfortable atmosphere--not too loud and the temperature was appropriate. Clean restrooms, clean dining room. Would definitely recommend for good comfort food, reasonably priced (for NYC).

Nice place to relax.....

By Oldmaster |

I found this great Pub by just walking by on the way back to my Hotel. This has a very Pub like interior and draws quite a crowd at happy hour time. They serve typical Pub food ,but we did not eat. They have lots of TV's so its a great place to catch a game or just sit and relax with friends. The staff were very friendly and the beer was ice cold. It has a lot of regular locals who live in the neighborhood.

Pub food

By lylac |

This had a lively sports bar atmosphere. My BBQ sandwich was okay. My husband liked the penne pasta special. Our friends enjoyed the goat cheese salad and chicken pot pie. The butternut squash soup was just okay and quite thick. Service was good. It was reasonably priced for NYC. It's basically fair pub food. There were many locals eating here.

Basic Pub Food, but delicious!

By squirrels22 |

Good pub food, great and friendly service. Likely to return! Would be lots of fun on St. Patrick's day.... Good location, close to Times.

Great Beer and Friendly Conversation!

By PJ_Mojo |

When we're in New York, we usually drop by the Pig 'N' Whistle near Times Square (which we did again on this trip), but I also wanted to pop in on their location on West 36th. We are so happy we did! The vibe in this location is much different than in Times Square - much more laid back. The patrons are regulars, and we noted bartenders greeting several people by name and putting drinks up on the bar without the regulars even having to order. Service was prompt and thorough, the Guinness was a perfect pour, and our order of raw oysters was ultra fresh and delicious. The patrons were obviously there to socialize, as it was easy to have conversations with people near us. I'll make a point to hit this location again!

Short trip.

By Mary K |

Really great bar and restaurant Food was very good. Really friendly staff who made time to chat and were interestesting to chat with. Well done Guys

Great burger

By Rrileyadams |

Took a break from tourist stuff to get a quick bite and watch my Beloved Chicago Cubs win another game. We were greeted right away, seated in a good position to see the game and waited on immediately. We had the Whistle Burger, which was juicy and filled with flavor. The ambiance was excellent and the visit added to our NYC experience.

Great food

By DoubleExpresso |

We visited the Pig n Whistle on New Year's Eve, for an early dinner. When we arrived we were shown to our table, the waiter was really friendly and took our drinks order while we looked at the menu. There was a good selection of food to choose from. Once we ordered the food arrived in reasonable time - the food itself was to a really good standard and the portion sizes are very generous. I ordered buffalo wings for a starter - they were gorgeous but almost a meal on there own! All the food we order was great and looking around at what other people ordered it all looked good. The pub has a good selection of beers and being an Irish pub Guinness was on draft. There are plenty of TV screens to watch the local sport and news.

Great Stop

By RDCononver |

We stopped on our way back to catch the train for a drink and had an enjoyable experience. The door man was friendly and helpful, the barman helped us after a few minutes as he helped each customer in turn. Our beverages were cold and pricing was reasonable for the area. The food looked good, planning another stop in the future.

Great food and atmosphere.

By Tamela S |

Stopped in here and had a salad and drinks. The place is super cute and the staff very friendly. We did not have any beer or liquor so I can't comment on that. They were very accommodating to our group. Would definitely eat here again.

Nicer than your average Irish Bar

By Dlove72 |

Not my first time at the Pig N Whistle, but this is a nice bar. Friendly people, lots of room in the bar, clean. Tried the Irish Nachos here, and I suggest you do too. Bacon...enough said. Drinks prices are typical for the area. Although the waitresses we had were friendly the service could be better. I'll definitely be back when I'm the area.

Impromptu visit

By Danielle B |

We had just arrived to the city and needed dinner reservations. We arrived early but were able to be seated anyway. Service was great. We had good Irish food in an Irish restaurant with an Irish waitress. Una is in the city for the summer from Ireland. She was friendly and attentive. Food was delicious we had Shepard's pie and chicken pot pie both really good!

Loved this place 100%!

By Trinity Lee |

I didn't eat here. We came in both nights (Friday and Saturday) we were in New York. We found this gem on accident, but once we did we didn't want to go anywhere else. We closed the nights out by hanging out here. The bartender was friendly and attentive to us. Also, he gave us some tips on different ways to walk to different places so we could see the most we could during our time there. Loved it!

Watching the game

By cajuncountry00 |

We wanted a place we could hang out and grab some munchies while we watched a basketball game during our recent stay in NYC within walking distance of our hotel. Typical "pub" food...was on the menu and just what we wanted. Might eat here again, but so many places around may try something else next time around.

Quick lunchtime bite and a pint

By Paul B |

Popped in at lunchtime with family for a quick bite and a pint. Usual fare but with a few original dishes, all nicely cooked. Worth a try if in the area.

Great pub food

By Katharine C |

Nice pub. Bangers and mash was great. Lamb burger was really good as well. Good service, attentive waiters.

Great Service

By Lisa M |

Went for dinner here on a midweek evening. Didn't require a reservation which was great. We were seated downstairs. The food was lovely and our waitress was lovely and very helpful, we had several drinks, it was good to find somewhere that serves NICE pints of Heineken. The interior of the building is rustic and homely and creates a lovely atmosphere. I will definitely go back again.

Loved our waitress - great beer selection

By Robin J |

Stopped in to have a drink before dinner across the street. We had a darling Irish waitress who was friendly and hard working. Enjoyed our beer and wine. Ordered a couple of appetizers that were good (not great or unique, though....). Well worth going. I will head back there to eat a full meal and write another review. Great staff and atmosphere.

Very friendly Irish pub with good food

By Kyrano-Tracy |

We found the Pig N Whistle by chance while looking for a place for dinner. This is an Irish bar with an emphasis on Rugby. We had a short wait at the bar while waiting for a free table but we were shown to a table upstairs by a lovely Irish waitress, who was very attentive and gave great customer service. There was a good selection of food (both with an American and Irish theme). The restaurant is very vibrant with a good atmosphere. Quality of the food was good as was the wine and beer. We would return when we are back in Manhattan.

The Cure for a Hot Day

By Anthony P |

We came here for drinks. This pub has the distinction of being one of the best in NYC, by NYC magazine. The pub features a beautiful wood interior, lots of seating, and a full bar. There are plenty of televisions for the anti-social. The bar tender, who used his Irish brogue effectively, had great recommendations and knew how to care for folks even when busier than all get out. Definitely recommend this place. Also a thumbs up for the Pig and Whistle Ale.

great family place

By Jomarie0525 |

staff very attentive and food was excellent. we had 4 children and the menu was perfect for them. Even though we had a larger party, we did not need to wait too long to be seated.

Good burger on the west side

By Rodell W |

I happen upon this place trying to find a place to watch the football game on a Sunday afternoon. Good burger, cold beer and cheap eats! I'd highly recommend!

Great food!

By Sally M |

My daughter and I were visiting NYC and needed to eat something. We came upon Pig and Whistle. It was very, very good. We were seated quickly and our server was prompt. Both our meals were generous. My tuna melt was excellent! Try this restaurant.

Nice place

By PTycz |

Stopped in for a late lunch. Food was very good. I had pastrami with a side of onion rings. We sat in the back at what felt like a private table. Very enjoyable experience.

Good food, decent price

By Ready2Go4it |

The shepherds pie was really tasty! The staff hustles, service is quick and efficient. If you are looking for a leisurely lunch, skip this place. If you want decent food at a decent price with quick service - Pig N' Whistle is your place.

Liked The Lunch

By gziggie |

We decided to grab some lunch before heading off to see a show. We chose this because it was close to the theater. We each had a philly beef sandwich with fries. Meat was tender and melted in your mouth. An older establishment with a bar like atmosphere. Sandwiches were a bit pricey, it was however a generous portion. We found while visiting New York most everything is a little over priced.

Nice pub near MSG and Penn Station

By ZenGolfGuy |

Middle son and I stopped in for a bite and a beer after the Auto Show. Nice spot. Lots of TVs with lots of sports on, music loud enough but not obtrusive and a wide selection of beers on tap. Middle son picked us a couple of IPAs (I think he said Goose) and I ordered the whistler burger (with caramelized onions and mushrooms and pepper jack cheese) and he had the roast beef and cheese. Both were really good. Excellent burger on a nice soft and tasty bun. Excellent fries, in a rather small portion. Overall a good place and not cheap, but reasonable by NYC standards.

Great Fries, Bad Service

By melody C |

We went there to have some fries because we had gone there on a previous trip and loved their taste. I guess the waitress did not appreciate that we were not ordering more. She did not listen to my request for a glass of ice and brought a glass with a few pieces. When I asked her for more she mumbled something as she walked away. When she came back she slammed the glass down much harder than need be. She never came back to our table so we had to ask another person how we get our check. She finally came over and plopped it down as she walked away. She made us feel like she did not want us wasting her table. The fries were still yummy!

Terrific food and friendly staff

By Dusty Garison |

We stepped in here late on a Friday afternoon on our way to see a show. The waitress was very attentive and friendly, and the food was really good - I had fish & chips with a Guinness Draft, and my wife had the coconut shrimp. It was all delicious, and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend this little pub!

Good food and Good Servioce

By Bruce M |

We were not looking for anything marvellous when we went in but were very pleasantly surprised. The food variety was great and the waitress was excellent.

Great pint and bite stop with perfect vibe!

By CoachK2525 |

Walked into by accident and almost didn't leave! Staff and other customers make for a great combo. Beer and food well matched and served. Will be back!

Hungry

By Janice S |

Well I thought because it was an Irish establishment it would be great, it was just ok, my boyfriend didn't like his, we both got the brunch. The server seemed like she was new at that type of work, I also think she didn't speak good enough English to be working in this country. So these are my reasons for only giving it a two.

Very average Irish pub

By Heather S |

This was an okay pub. Cookie cutter Irish watering hole. Music was way too loud. Average food. Ignored by waitress. I would not recommend this pub to a friend.

Eng v SA. The least amount of alcohol EVER consumed during a rugby match

By JonnyFatboy |

Definitely a rugby pub! Watched the South Africa v England RWC semi final here. Got there nice and early and got a seat and a pint of Guinness. Lots of screens and great view of the match. Downside it was absolutely rammed at KO and no chance of getting to the bar. The Bok fans were particularly ‘passionate’ and the waitress was only able to get to the table with semi filled pints as she couldn’t get through the crowd. The SA fans next to me had obviously been before because they had brought handbags full of jägermeister. Credit to the staff they worked hard. Great venue and definitely a place to watch the rugby. Maybe some door people might help.

Good pub food

By Norman S |

My wife and I went before a Ranger game. The place was very crowded so we decided to eat at the bar. I felt bad for the bartender as she was the only one behind the bar making drinks. We shared a cheeseburger and the crab dip. Both meals were excellent. If you are going to an event at MSG call ahead for reservations as this place fills up quick.

Overrated. Expensive food and poor quality

By AFreviews |

After reading all those positive reviews on Tripadvisor, something must have been wrong with us. We ordered two beers, some fries, sides and some kind of sandwiches that turn out to be more like cheap toasts. The food was expensive for what you get. We found it overrated and expensive. If you serve this kind of food in a real irish pub in Ireland or Europe in general, they will laugh at you. The staff was friendly but i won't be coming back.

Disappointing. Waste of Money

By PassportHeavy |

Our bus dropped us off directly in front of this spot & due to lack of food, came in this bad judgement call on food. We were "escorted" by our hostess upstairs only to have her leave us cause we had to maneuver with all our luggage through the crowd of people. We ended up seating ourselves at one of the tables at the bar and waited a good 5 minutes before being helped. We ordered 6 oysters (since they were $1 each), a draft beer, mixed drink & mozzerla sticks. Don't fool yourself with these disgusting oysters. No wonder they're only $1. If the Hudson River had oysters, they probably got them from there. Gross! My beer was cool not cold as it should be. We paid $9.99 for 5 mozzerela sticks that were deep friend straight from the freezer. Between the service, warm beer and those atrocious oysters, no way would I recommend this place. Stay away!!

Best Shrimp

By DTgeorgetown |

We entered this bar by chance and went to enjoy d food twice. Once v had d shrimp and fish. The shrimp was superb. A few days later we went for d usd1 oysters. Minimum to order is 6pcs. It was jz ok. Its a crowded bar but ample space for dinner or lunch. It serves irish coffee also. The service was good. Shld try, at least once

Went for a Guinness, exactly what you can expect

By TozCaz |

Well it's an Irish pub and so far they have more or less looked the same all around the world, you know exactly what to get so we were satisfied.

Great place to eat

By Gillian M |

Visited here mid afternoon last week. Great staff. Great food. Great atmosphere. Would visit again. Family friendly with great menu.

Good Guinness

By Seamus M |

Great bar ,excellent location, near E.S.Building,T.Square,PennStation,Macys. Does a decent pint of Guinness, which is not easy to find in NYC. Bar-staff were the best ,from Esteban working the floor,to the wonderful Mila working the bar. These are special people...hope they make your aquaintance!!!!!!!!! Thanks so much Mila.....Kocham cię

A great burger after a long day!

By Farrah H |

After a long day of touring, Pig N Whistle has quite a variety of drinks to refresh and relax your weary feet! It is located conveniently between Time Square and Rockefeller Center. I thoroughly enjoyed the NBC burger. The extra touch of bacon bits mixed with the lettuce, was great!

Love this place!!!

By malenag125 |

We met family and friends in nyc. So the guys meet every year here and the girls went shopping. We met up with them as they were at the bar. It was paaaacked. Busy part of town. So the girls were hungry. I went up to the hostess and asked for table of 4. Which then we decided 5 and I saw the hostess in the back and asked her to change it to 5. Not sure if she cared or would remember. Within 5 minutes it seemed, she called us. We had a table for 5. We had to wait for a line of people to go through and she was so patient and so nice to me. It was so nice because you run into a lot of rude people but when you get someone nice, it makes a big difference. Our waitress was also super nice. Food was delicious and came out quick! Everyone enjoyed what we had. Chicken pot pie. Shepherds pie. Grilled chicken sandwhich. Reubens and pasta. 18 percent tip is included in every check. Our bill was 130.00 for 5 people. Including alcohol! I think that was great! The night before it was 140 at tgif for 2 people! Def great food, great prices, great atmosphere.

Great lunch

By Rehsinup19 |

The Shepherd's pie was really flavorful and the turkey sandwich was also very good. We enjoyed the relaxing decor and good service. This was a good lunch stop for some Irish fare.

Fine End to a New York Trip

By Kevin_Manchester_UK |

My final afternoon in New York. Empire State? Guggenheim? Nope, tired and thirsty I decided to watch Spain play in the World Cup, with friends joining me soon after. Was given a table right in front of a big screen, and had a couple of beers and some food and watched 'soccer'. Chicken wings were so good I ordered another portion a couple of hours later. Decent service, although at times struggled to get the attention of our waitress.

Great Food and Service!

By Theresa L |

Always excellent atmosphere, service and food. The staff is friendly and the food is served quickly. If you are looking for a good and reasonably priced meal near Herald Square this Pub will not disappoint.

Busy cool and welcoming

By steve w |

Stopped here for a pint on our way to the Empire state building on one of the hottest days in September. Really quick polite service we ordered 2 dishes French onion soup and a chilli with Nachos. Both delivered in lightning speed with a smile. The owner came to chat with us and ask us if everything was ok. Ended up having a lovely chat. Very polite owner and staff. This place deserves to be busy and it sure is. Really good atmosphere with football and soccer being shown. So good we returned a day later and was just as good.

Great Restaurant in NYC

By plainjane |

We were looking for another restaurant and came upon Pig n Whistle! Looked at the menu from the outside and said lets try it. It was so good! We were in a bit of a hurry and we got served so fast and the service was so friendly. We got the traditional Shepards Pie and Fish n Chips. Both meals were hot and hearty. Very tasty. We were hungry and tired from running around all day on a Saturday and got in and out within a hour. Great restaurant! We plan on going back again next time we are in NYC.

Keep looking ....

By Hopep1974 |

I'm not sure Why this place is billed as "Irish" other than the color green being prominently displayed ....the menu nor the atmosphere seemed "Irish" to me. The service was spotty at best. The only thing that interested me on the menu was Italian food... It was quite possibly the worst chicken Parm. I have ever had. My dinner companion was served flat stale Guinness and a stale turkey burger!!! It would have been enough if that was the end of the story ....however within a short amount of time after dinner I became highly ill. This place totally ruined my day trip. I cannot in anyway shape or form recommend eating here.

Reasonable food and drink in the Theater District

By Adam B |

I've been coming to the Pig n Whistle for many years - you could say it's my go-to place when I'm in the Theater District prior to or following a Broadway show. And I've introduced plenty of friends and family here when showing off the midtown area. The staff are friendly and the food is plentiful and good. Great bar with plenty of beer on tap choices and stronger imbibes for the discriminating drinker. However, the bar can get packed on weekends, but don't panic, stay and wait for a table - it's well worth the wait. My favorites include: Fish n Chips, French Dip, Shepherd's Pie and burgers.

Great Place but one insulting member of staff

By 929visitor |

Spent our last afternoon here for a few drinks at the bar, killing time before going to airport. Really enjoying ourselves, lovely member of staff pouring drinks, a girl from Ireland. When we left another bartender took over a young man, very rude as we decided not to leave a tip on our card but to give cash, before having a chance to do so was harshly asked why we had not included a tip on the card, telling me that their wages are poor and tips are needed to sustain life in New York. Ruined our last afternoon, I was intending to use our cash for a tip. I couldn't believe that staff would speak to a women this way. Although a lovely place, this member of staff'sbehaviour has cost a 5 star review.

Convenient to Penn Station

By Thomas K |

After visiting the World Trade Center memorial we searched for a comfortable and quaint place to eat. Discovering the Pig n Whistle close to Penn Station we gave it a try. The service was quick, the waitress was polite and the food tasty and well presented. The atmosphere was perfect and enjoyable, slightly noisy but what is to be expected in a NYC establishment. Prices were reasonable for the city and the IPA beer was great. Returned for a second time 2 weeks later and sat upstairs. Even though there was a private party near our table the service was quick and waitress polite. Another great time. Looking for another visit the next time we return to NYC.

Excelent

By Kieron S |

Great bar for food ate here twice friendly staff good wholesome food nice crowd of people and close to our hotel.

Amazing Shepherd's Pie!!!

By TimothyC75 |

Stopped in after leaving a far more expensive restaurant. The value was excellent. The service was great. The food was fantastic... especially the Shepherd's Pie! Served quickly and hot. Waitstaff was attentive but not annoying. Pub atmosphere, so a little noisy, but I wouldn't have expected differently. First time visit, but certainly not our last!

Great find

By 22laf |

Found this great place soon after arriving in New York and returned for our last meal before leaving. Nice food reasonably priced and great friendly staff. We were served by Kelly with the lovely Irish accent who spent time chatting to us and was genuinely interested in our travel stories. Nice to find somewhere that wasn't all rush, rush rush.

Good pub food

By Hamp90 |

Decent food in a fun pub atmosphere. I had a very good tuna steak salad and my husband had fish and chips dinner, also loved the Irish coffee.

Great pub

By Donna C |

Loved this pub. Great prices on happy hour drinks and great food. Always pretty busy because it is so great ... the staff are very professional and attentive. Love this place

Awesome Food, Great Atmosphere

By JGrant19 |

This is a fantastic place to eat - the food is awesome with lots of choice and surprisingly reasonable prices for NYC and really big portions. Excellent choice of drinks and cocktails too and with live music the atmosphere is superb. What makes it really great though is the staff, especially Barbara and Carlos, you guys looked after Our family so well we came back for our last night in New York. We have sons aged 10 and 15 and they were made incredibly welcome - although we didn't see any other kids on our 2 visits but we ate late. There is a separate children's menu too which we found rare in New York. In summary - definitely pay a visit for a great meal in fab atmosphere with lovely staff who take time out for you. Superb - thank you!

So so

By Ashley |

Walked by and gave it a go. Was not busy sat quickly at the bar and ordered some drinks. Nothing on the menu looked appealing. They brew their own beer and it was very good! Dark in color but tasted lighter than a bud light.

All fair, service, food, atmosphere

By Barbara C |

So many good restaurants in NYC don't think I would come back. Had to return my food because it was cold. Didn't even finish my appetizer when entree came out.

Convenient location

By arazi1991 |

I've eaten here several times because they have good bangers and mash and decent Irish breakfasts. I was a little disappointed with the many television sets blaring sporting events, that were American not English or Irish -- after all it is an Irish Pub. But the food is good, well prepared and plenty of it, they have an Irish cream ale and Guinness on tap, the service is good and the place is friendly. The first time I dropped in because it was on the path from where I had been to my hotel. The second time I sought them out and given this is New York City that alone would speak volumes to my friends. If the place was a little less like an American sports bar it would be a 5 star, so you know why the rating is very good and not excellent.

The best in new york city

By ababysanaa2016 |

Me and my wife travel to new York quiet a bit and we have taste a lot of food over the years, But never like Pig n whistle, the food is off the charts very good and the staff was great and the prices are right, keep doing what y'all are doing, from my point they get ten stars ********** WAYNE BALTIMORE

Great food, atmosphere & service

By Goannago |

We popped in for lunch, just choosing this place at random. It was very busy - the downstairs area was full so we were seated upstairs. The service was excellent - cold iced water as soon as we were seated & this was replenished regularly. The beer was icy cold. We were both very happy with our food choices - both meals were well presented and absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend!

Good casual bar eatery

By Judy |

Easy walk from Hotel near Madison Sq Gardens. Good casual menu with Irish flare, great beer selection & busy cool vintage atmosphere.

Great bartenders, great sevice!

By Beachlover046 |

I love this place! Bartender was fantastic, friendly and really helpful. Food selection awesome, cool place to be at in NYC!

The guy on the corner holding the Pig n Whistle sign worked!

By stefmo |

As we were ending our whirlwind trip to NYC, we were walking toward Penn Station to hop the train back to EWR. A guy on the corner was twirling a sign for this pub, and we said, "Why not?" We were looking for a place to eat prior to beginning our travels, knowing the peanuts-and-pretzels wouldn't be enough to hold us over! Glad we did! We each had a local brew. Hub had the shepherd's pie (I sampled it - it was fab!!!), and I had the "small" order of their mac-n-cheese. As listed on the menu, it comes with bacon and mushrooms. I'm not a mushroom fan, so our server assured me I could get it with just bacon. When our piping-hot dishes arrived at the table, my mac-n-cheese was loaded with mushrooms and zero bacon - guess the kitchen got it wrong. It wasn't long before it was replaced with what I'd ordered and it was excellent! Lunch for two with one beer each was about $50, including tip. Typical of that area of NYC. Service was outstanding, and very friendly atmosphere. Would go back, for sure!

Good eats in a loud atmosphere!

By JPP58 |

Made reservations through Open Table. We were seated promptly even though they were busy of a Friday night. Seated upstairs at a table that was on the verge of being uncomfortably small and placed awkwardly. Service was decent and food was very good. The place was VERY loud. Didn't bother us but I can see that it would likely bother some.

Snowed in!

By Sarah R |

This bar was just round the corner from our hotel. We'd been there for a drink the night before and then arrived there in the middle of the big blizzard on 23 Jan. We had lunch there and then went back for dinner. Really busy place, sometimes a bit noisy but that's a sign of people having a good time! Good atmosphere. The 2 Irish waitresses - one with blonde hair and one with dark hair were brilliant, so friendly and helpful and when they found out the trip was for my birthday they turned up at our table with birthday cake and a couple of drinks and sang happy birthday! Really thoughtful. The food was lovely. We would definitely recommend this place. Our only regret was that we weren't able to go back and say goodbye as we had to rush to the airport to get our flights which had already been cancelled twice.

Slightly above average in all areas.

By Brad I |

English food seemed a little bland and took quite a while. Great selection of beers. Service was average.

Great find...

By guillepinar72 |

Decided to stop by for a couple of beers and had a great time .. we sat by the balcony upstairs and tried 3 different ales and ordered calamari and some quesadillas, everything was very tasty and the waitress was great.....

Very loud, but the food was good

By juliac242 |

I went here with my boss and three clients and we all enjoyed our food. I got the goat cheese cranberry walnut salad with shrimp on top and I really enjoyed it. Our waitress was very nice and very quick with our service. I do understand that there's a bar but the whole place was extremely loud. We had to yell to talk to each other. It was a Wednesday night, so I'd understand if it was a weekend evening or something. Overall it was decent, but I probably won't come back here

Great atmosphere, wonderful bartenders.

By Jessie L |

While planning my return visit to NYC, I came across some pictures of us at Pig n Whistle. Even though it was 2 years ago I remember the delightful and fun Irish bartender, well priced drinks, and a true "pub" experience. Can't wait to stop back in this summer!

Nice Midtown Bar

Great midtown location. Perfect for lunch, dinner or group events. Very tasty burgers and fantastic drinks.

Warm and cozy pint after visiting Empire State Building and Macys

By Sharon R |

We stumbled across this Irish bar whilst walking from Macy's and ESB back to our hotel in Times Square..we arrived at 11.30am for a quick drink before departing to the statue of liberty... But it didn't quite work like that....as this bar was warm, friendly and served great ale and food. At around 12.10 this place was full to the brim... Every table was full with people ordering food and drinks! After talking to customers we found that alot of locals working in the city also eat hear.. Not surprisingly really as the food and service was fantastic. We ordered the chicken wings and chips between us.. This was well worth the money and enough for the both of us. After several hours we finally dragged ourselves away and visited more of the spectacular sites....if visiting again.. I would definitely head back here. Thanks guys.

Oysters and Guiness

By phil j |

The Pig 'n' Whistle was across the road from our hotel the Moxy. the pub was a safe haven from the pretentious Moxy. The food was very good and reasonably priced, I had oysters and Guiness. They have a very good range of beers and there is a nice feel about the place.

Stopped for a drink

By TravelingBum10 |

We were bar hopping and saw this place. My hubby likes to stop at any place that says Irish pub. We just had a couple of beers. The place seem nice with good service and atmosphere.

Good food, good service, great atmosphere!

By mcrosman |

I was in New York for work and stopped in for dinner. The atmosphere was lively and entertaining, the food (grilled chicken salad) was delicious and the service was friendly and attentive! Would definitely go back!

Awful service

By Matt S |

We stopped here on an early weekday evening after spending the day wandering the area. We walked in and had high hopes based on the look and feel of the bar (which was great), and the building after-work crowd. We arrived at about 4:30, and were told we could be seated without a reservation if we were done before 6:15. We didn't think that would be a problem....of course, we didn't factor in the level of service we received. We were greeted and had our order taken promptly. The food itself was very good...we ordered one of the appetizer combos, which was more than enough for our party of five...with a lot to bring home as well! However, the follow-up, the inability to get our server's attention to refill our drinks, and the inability to have a check done at the end of our meal, was uncalled for, and unacceptable. Our server had more than enough time to socialize with a table next to ours, but not to check up to see how we were doing. We had to flag the busser to get refills of water, the hostess to get our check, and yet another waitress...who was not ours...actually delivered the check. We were out of there right at 6:15, although we were planning on a quick 45-minute meal. It's a shame to give this place a 3-star review, since the food was good, and the atmosphere great. That's what poor service does, I guess......

Fun spot to grab a drink

By Texaslonghorn31 |

Stopped in here around 5:00 on a Friday and while the place was packed, the hostess still managed to get us a table ASAP and our waiter was there just moments later to explain the drink and food menu. We each got a couple of drinks and split an appetizer. The food was good, the drinks were yummy and the service was great. We didn't stay super long due to needing to be somewhere else but this was a great little pub that I would recommend to others.

6 Nations Rugby

By bl0ndie72 |

We watched the 6 Nations Rugby at the Pig n Whistle this weekend. It was a great venue with lots of seats & lots of TV’s, so you won’t miss any of the action. There’s table service - so our glasses were always full - service was excellent & very friendly. I ordered the avocado on toast - it was very tasty. Bloody Mary was nice & spicy too. Really good atmosphere - there were lots of people watching the rugby. Great pub. Would definitely recommend for watching rugby here!

Dinner

By Jeff M |

Food was real good, house beers real good, waitress lacking. Another waiter had to replenish our drinks and get our check because our waitress spent all of her time talking to other staff. Will go back when back in town unless we get the same waitress. She was nice but not attentive.

Great food and decor!

By Jonathan T |

My wife and I visit NYC every year and never miss a lunch/dinner here at the Pig N Whistle. The staff is friendly, the food is terrific and the atmosphere is always festive! We are actually going back to NYC in 2 weeks and plan on dining here again!

Casual Food, Good Atmosphere

By Morgan J |

This is a great place especially if you're at an office in the neighborhood. The staff is nice, and the bar-type food really is great to unwind with a friend.

Rugby Pub in New York

By spencermit |

I have been here a few times, and wanted to return for the six nations. I did email, and call you ensure we could get an early table but couldn't get a response, so we popped in to confirm - No issue. When we arrived for the day of the game our server was awesome - Could not have done more and they are lucky to have her. Irish Breakfast all good. You can also see my review on Time Sq which is a very different story......!!

Excellent Food and Service

By ddmullis |

I had lunch with a co-worker and found this spot to be very good. We had sandwiches and fries of which both were served very fresh and tasty. The service was outstanding in spite of them being really busy. I very much enjoyed my dining at this location.

I Like It

By phy2202 |

With a menu that offers the usual fare as well as bangers and mash & Shepard's pie its an Irish inspired pub! Comfortable and affordable ...friendly attentive staff. A perfect place to escape the hub bub of the city....early bird specials start at 3pm that menu offers good food choices at great prices including a few special drinks for just 5$! Imagine? A nice glass of wine in NYC for just 5$! We lingered, and never felt rushed. We'll definitely go back!

Who's up for steak and eggs for breakfast

By John Singleton |

The Pig N Whistle is very good for any food at any time of day or night. The staff are very friendly and the service is just as good. This is a good sized bar with ample table space. We had steak and eggs with oven baked potatoes and peppers which was very good. We finished in no time at all. Breakfast only starts at 11.00am and ends at 2pm.

Nice little spot

By Mark B |

Maybe the place would be packed if there was an actual rugby game on, but on the summer Saturday we visited, it was busy, but not overly packed. Decent choice of beers, but not the biggest selection I have seen by a long way. Food was good, although because there was only one lady working both the upstairs tables and the bar, service was a little slower than I would have liked. My friend said the sausages and mash were really good, although he would have preferred a third sausage. My salmon burger was very good, cooked medium which meant still moist, which is what I like. I would have liked some sauce with it, maybe a lemon mayo or something. The gazpacho was very good, nice and rich and fresh.

Phenomenal people, its the way all pubs should be

By Jeff N |

I stopped in out of chance as close to hotel we were staying at for SEAHAWK superbowl. Paul and Chuck both personally greeted me, gave me seahawks sweatshirt from bud distributor and even one on the house. The bar staff was awesome. We will be back a ton on our six night stay.

Disappointing

By GuestsB28 |

We visited this restaurant as it was near our hotel. Initially we were impressed with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. However service was slow, the food was average and our food order was consistently wrong. Staff weren’t particularly bothered about putting it right. Once we were seated and had ordered they seemed to lose interest. Quiet expensive and not really worth it for the food or the service.

Came to watch the World Cup

By dermgoddess |

Got a table immediately and had some beers. The fish and chips were delicious and I am told the burger was good too. Great servers, very pleasant and knowledgeable

Grabbing some live music 🎶

By janepasc |

Fabulous night out catching up with TJ Max who was playing that night. Our group enjoyed a fine selection of margaritas and our tapas style dinner was enjoyed by everyone. The staff are friendly and the pub is welcoming. The night turned into lots of dancing with another muso turning up with his harmonica. A night that will be remembered for a long time .

Meal out

By Nic Lawrence |

We ate here twice while we stayed in NyC and each time was perfect! The food was great, the atmosphere was great, service was great. Can’t fault it! Will defiantly recommend to people we know who are staying in NYC.

Delicious Food !

By Bianny P |

We were supposed to wait for the Washigton Deluxe Bus, and we didn't know if we were in the right place. We went in to ask for the bus, and decided to stay and eat before leaving. The food was incredible and the people super nice. I recommend it for everyone.

perfect spot for pre and post concert drinks if you're going to MSG

By divebumBermuda |

Big roomy bar that obviously gets very busy. the staff were friendly and helpful. Jen the bartender took good care of us on one visit. We went there before the concert at madison Square Garden and after.

Quality Irish Pub in Manhattan. It don't get any better!

By Andrew B |

This is an excellent place to go to watch any sporting occasion. The atmosphere, drinks and food were all excellent. Cormac was a great host. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, or go again. Lunch or Dinner. All good.

$1 oysters and Irish pub

By CentralCATraveler |

Ate dinner here with friends mid week. Seated downstairs near the bar right away. Server was Irish and very sweet and accommodating. They had $1 blue point oysters which were very good. Also had the steamed clams which were also tasty. My friend had the mac & cheese which was yummy. Nice pub atmosphere and they sell T-shirts.

Great food and good times

By Gail T |

We were starving and looking for good food. It was lunch time so the place was packed. Found place at the bar. Service was great and food really good. Had a great lunch

Always Busy

By Mark B |

Great atmosphere but never actually got to eat there as it was always busy food looked good, staff friendly good selection of drinks.

Rushed and ignored.

By Jazzsimps |

I felt very disappointed having eaten here. Firstly, we were seated next to a huge table of people. Being on a table of two we found it very difficult to hear each other amongst the noise of the next table. There were plenty of other tables we could have been seated at. The starter came out fairly quickly, and honestly tasted very nice. But the main came out whilst we were still eating the starters. Mid-mouthful I had my starter taken away right in front of me and my main just plonked there. This meant I had to eat both at once! Main was bland and the fact my chicken main tasted the same as my partners beef was astonishing. To top things off, we were pretty much ignored when we were trying to pay. The staff were too busy chatting and eating their food at the bar. If you fancy a lovely meal with tasty food and good service, avoid this place.

A Great Place to Meet Friends ... Very Good Pub Grub

By Randi-Tom |

Our group of 6 adults visited for a bite to eat before attending a concert at nearby Madison Square Garden. The place was packed but since we had reservations we were immediately seated downstairs opposite the bar. We were promptly greeted by our waitress who informed of the Happy Hour specials. Be warned - if you are looking for a quite spot to get a bite to eat this is NOT the place for you – at least not during happy hour. A cacophony of conversation, laughter, and music fill the pub. This is a place where friends meet to enjoy each other’s company. Drinks were reasonably priced and the food was very good. Several in our group enjoyed the burgers, which were cooked to order. Others enjoyed the meatloaf, fish and chips and roast beef without complaints. Our server was very attentive and stopped by frequently to insure our drinks were full. Overall this is a great place to meet and eat with friends. Just look for the guy holding the Pin N Whistle sign on the corner of 36th St. and 7th Ave…he’ll point you in the right direction.

Yummy!

By TASHA G |

Very unique looking building, so cool! Food and drinks were just as we ordered, very good. Southwest chicken wrap & buffalo chicken nachos-must try both!!!

Food ok, Service ok – not great

By _Montana_VT |

3 of us found this restaurant walking back to our hotel and decided to go inside for dinner. It was rather busy, but we got a table. The food took a long time to arrive, and we had to ask for drinks, and didn’t ever have a check-back from our server. We ordered mussels and burgers that were bland and overcooked. It was a disappointment - esp in NYC - great food and great service are just expected I guess.

A Midtown Must

By IsleMon_Bob |

You gotta love smartphones. Standing a block off Penn Station on a crazy busy sidewalk we found on maps apps the Pig n Whistle tucked a block away on a side street. We easily would have missed this establishment amidst the tall buildings and so glad we found it and was reviewed well. It is a 2 story pub restaurant with a dark wooden decor with that old world Irish pub feel. We sat on the 2nd level with a nice window view of the city street below and the bar area below on the first floor. For beer drinkers I recommend their house brand Pig n Whistle which is a mild IPA and they have all the usual Irish beer favorites as well. We started with the spinach and artichoke chip served with hot with tortilla chips. Delicious. Our group had the Mac n Cheese with bacon and mushrooms (signature dish to die for), traditional Fish n Chips (one of the best pieces of cod I've had), a Pig burger with sauteed onions, mushrooms and pepper jack cheese (awesome pub burger) and a turkey club (ask for a side of the horseradish-dijon sauce to pair it with and you'll thank me). All our dishes were served with home style cut fries. Each meal was so good we couldn't resist sharing. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. All in all a great experience from the decor, the food and the service. Fun time and highly recommend.

Pulled Pork Heaven!

By Jordan M |

We was in quite a rush to get to a show and this place only had a ten minute wait. We literally waited for 10 seconds and got seated. The pulled pork burger was insanely delicious!! If you go here, get it! The staff were lovely and attentive. Couldn't praise it more. Lovely little Irish pub with incredible food and fab service! Thanks for a great dinner

Not great

By RobertDef |

They said that we needed a reservation, then they found a table upstairs in a hallway, against a railing that looked over top of the bar. Many table stayed empty the whole time we were there. No children's menu either.

Great food and place for a drink.

By Crebon |

The prices are about the norm for the area. The food has always been good. The take major credit cards. That staff is really nice.

Not Bad, Not Great, But OK for a $9 beer

By Shane S |

It's NYC, what can you expect? I was a bit taken back by the $8.50 price for a draft beer, but I suppose that's life in the Big Apple. Otherwise, decent place, but wow that's some pricey brew!

Black Sabbath pre show

By Stephen J V |

Great service. We walked in and got a table. I order vodka and cranberry it showed up with in 5 minutes. Had the tuna grilled on salad. It was yummy !

Yummy!!

By password1Cardiff |

Called in her on the off chance, seated right away, served and ordered efficiently. Food was delicious, waitress courteous and helpful. Really enjoyed it - plus it's a dedicated Rugby bar which in NYC is a first! Would recommend.

Authentic Irish Bar

By Walt K |

There was an Irish rugby /soccer match being televised with a $20 cover charge sign outside so we almost passed it by, but when we told the door-lady that we only wanted a meal she didn't charge us the cover. The door-lady had an Irish accent and we had a nice chat about Ireland while they found us a table. The patrons were really into the tv coverage (it was loud during the game). The food was typical Irish, which is what we wanted, and reasonably priced for NY. We were not rushed to clear the table like some restaurant staff do, but we were not ignored either (even though every table was occupied).

Delish

By Amoore4931 |

Had their Irish chicken- absolutely Devine, a must! My cousin had their Sheppard so pie which was also good but didn't out do the chicken! Enjoy!

Good place to eat after visiting sample sales!

By DAPJr112 |

My friend and I suggested ducking in here after visiting the local sample sales, and I was a little apprehensive. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety on the menu and the quality of the food. I had the salad with shrimp and she had the cobb salad and both were good. The waitress was pleasant and appeared to refill our ice teas. It was a little noisy, but I'll drop in again if I'm in the area at lunchtime.

Nice for a Quick Bite and Brew

By lhs1 |

Just a quick walk from Penn Station. Met friends for a quick bit and drinks before a show. A bit loud but very attentive waiter.

Three toots for the Pig 'N' Whistle

By Phineasbob |

Top notch Irish pub in the garment district. Went twice. Foolishly ordered the Cobb Salad in an Irish pub, and was more than pleasantly surprised. It was totally fresh and delicious. To tell the truth, the beautiful Irish waitress told me it was good and, thankfully, I believed her. Went back the following night for the pig, and had their barbecue pork sandwich. That was delicious as well. Two positive strikes and I'm sold. Got to get back there again when I'm in The Big Apple.

Good Irish pub

By Krishna R |

Jamaal did a great job of taking care of us on a slow Sunday night..felt very comfortable and relaxed..kudos to him..good selection of beers and relaxed ambience

Ignored

By BerlinG-ParisF |

We arrived and asked for a table not in the bar and were seated upstairs. Five minutes later, no one had approached us. When we started to get up, a woman over by the bar, who wasn't busy and hadn't moved since we were seated, made a beeline to us and seemed perplexed that we were leaving. We would have stayed had someone approached in a reasonable time, especially since it was so nasty (cold rain) outside, but...... I guess they have enough drinkers to ignore those who just want to eat!

a must for Rugby fans

By Andrew H |

First time there for a birthday party for an old good friend from England and his NYRFC friends. Great atmosphere, good pub food and fine assortment of ales. Rugby everywhere. Loved it.

Perfect (relaxing) lunch

By Henning B |

My wife and I wanted to have a nice/not too fancy (expensive) lunch walking from Madison Square Garden up to Times Square. This very nice and not crowded restaurant/pub had a perfect atmosphere, excellent foot & drinks/beers and quick & professional staff. Only 20 ft away from 7th Ave/36 Str. Affordable prices = highly recommended.

DID NOT DISAPPOINT, ONLY LEFT FEELING FULL AND FULLY SATISFIED!

By Lila A |

It was a Wed Night, and it was the first night of my 4 day Vaca. My friend and I sent out to eat at a pub. We were on our way to an Irish Pub on 7th, Yet there we were passing the Pig 'N' Whistle and something pulled us off our mission and decided to stop and check this place out. AND I'M GLAD I DID... it was dinner time so the place was full and somewhat loud. The seating was great (we were seated right away) and when you sat, even with people sitting close, there was a sense of feeling that you were in your own bubble. The service was fantastic (considering how busy it was) the drinks were very unique and so was the menu. We ate, we drank and had a good time. if your visiting NYC and your in Manhattan its a must visit. I do notice some "Disappointing" comments in regards to this place. if you happen to catch some of my other reviews I NEVER leave a bad review only good ones... so.. with that said, I can only encourage you to go in there with an open heart and an empty belly cuz I KNOW your belly won't be disappointed at all... ENJOY!!

Cozy Pub

By Gwen M |

Great old world charm, good food and seating upstairs offers a view of the cross streets. Bar choices good and lunch menu was well rounded.

Amazing Find!

By WalesUkJodiemay |

We stumbled across this lovely restaurant. Not busy like all the other restaurants and the food was the best we had in NYC! Lovely waitress called Evelyn very friendly & great service! Will be back.

Convenient bar with good range of beers

By Duncan R |

On a Tuesday night in December we had no problem getting served immediately at the bar. There was a very good range of both Irish and NY state craft beers on draught, served quickly. A selection of bar snacks was also very tasty. Staff were friendly and overall service was very good.

Great place to eat

By Journey602739 |

Went to eat over the road but were turned away. Great place to eat. Bangers and mash was excellent. We also had the fish and chips. Great food service was good as the person serving had to many table to attend to.

The go to place for watching Rugby in NYC

By Todd B |

Huge bar with a great selection of beers and alcohol. They play all sporting events but are big supporters of Rugby. Fun place to be.

Convenient and quick

By StevenVA |

We opted for this restaurant because it was convenient to our hotel. Rather than ordering off of the main menu we ordered from the bar menu. Food was decent bar food - no complaints. Music was very, very loud - hard to hear people at the same table - and music selection was metal - strange for the venue.

Great pints

By Michelle A |

Great Food, Great Pints, Great Staff and Great Craic. Bartender is chatty and friendly. Food is good, we cleared our plates. Well Worth A Visit while in NYC.

Great food, great staff and great atmosphere.

By Colm N |

My family and I visited the Pig 'n' Whistle bar where we had a lovely meal. We also had a few drinks afterwards. We really enjoyed ourselves. There was a great atmosphere in the bar. It's a great place to watch a game of whatever sports you follow. There isn't a bad seat in the bar. All the staff were very very friendly and we had a chat with one of them. We will definitely be back next time we visit New York.

Good food!

By marlo3sj3 |

This is a really nice and cozy place. We did not make reservations and had to wait for a while which was okay because the food is was really good and friendly staff! I had the meatloaf and it tasted really good!

Great food, close to The Garden

By Kim G |

If you are looking for a place to eat before an event at The Garden, look no further! The atmosphere was a lot of fun and the food was great! My husband and I both had the cobb salad and it was delicious and reasonably priced for NYC. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer too. The service was fast and dependanle too. We were there 2.5 hours before our show at The Garden and left there an hour and 15 minutes before the show giving us ample time to get to our seats. Highly recommend for families, couples or business!

Quiet and calming.

By jannybLiverpool |

We found it by accident while walking down 7th. Cider on tap which we like and good food. Premier league on TV but no commentarys just good music if you don't want to watch.

Great service-family friendly

By EssexOnTheGo |

My family and I stopped here for a late lunch while at Times Square NY a few days ago. There are so many dining choices within such a short walk from Times Square that the decision can be difficult. We used the TripAdvisor app as we walked around as usual to help make the decision easier but with hungry kids we had limited time to make the choice. We decided on Pig n Whistle after quickly reading through some recent reviews. At first glance, it looks like you have just walked into a bar-only scene but since we had the kids with us, the hostess promptly invited us upstairs and sat us in more family friendly dining area. There is a second bar upstairs but it was much quieter. We sat right by the window which was nicely decorated for the holidays. To other families wandering around Times Square with hungry kids...this restaurant is a great choice that you and the kids will be happy with!!

Classic pub

By sabrinayb |

Not my usual fine dining restaurant, but this chain had some really good casual food. I loved the buffalo wings, which were super crunchy. Don't miss the Pig mac and cheese with pork, yummy. Great cocktails, too.

Surprisingly good.

By Robert B |

Reasonably priced place for New York. We got a sit by the open window which was nice. My wife got a chicken wrap fries and salad for $15 and she said it was good. I got the Chicken parmigiana $17 with garlic bread and it was good also. It is a sports bar so it was very noise not the best for a romantic date. I would go again.

Good Pub Food

By JoeytravelerNJ |

Good place to go for drinks & snacks. but we went for dinner. The menu is somewhat limited but the food was very good and so was the service. We sat upstairs and it was pretty loud both up & downstairs, so not a great place for quiet conversation. I think it's a good place for lunch, mid-afternoon food & drinks, or happy hour cocktails.

Quiet the Meal

By Patricia B |

We came here after St. Patrick's day. There was no room in any Irish pub on that day. There was a single spot left when we arrived in the evening. We were helped right away and started with some brews. Cool and hoppy. We had a sandwich and fish and chips. Both were very tasty and filling. We still had room for dessert each as well. This meal certainly was our most elaborate of the trip. But who can say no when you are having such a great time.

Good for drinks

By Michaël |

Your traditional NY Irish Pub. Drinks, music and a semi-authentic atmosphere. Food is OK, but I'd rather go back for the music.

Great Irish Food

By circusringmaster |

The food here is delicious. The corned beef and cabbage is just like I had when I was a child. Have the apple pie for desert. It is fantastic. The bartender makes a very good Irish coffee.

Awesome service, delicious food, EAT HERE!!!

By LoveTheGoodLife831 |

This restaurant was one of our best experiences in the city. The service was amazing. I ordered the brie and pear sandwich with carmelized onions and asked for some fresh turkey on it and it was absolutely one of the best sandwiches I have ever had! (They should add the turkey option to the menu!!!). The servers were sweet, helpful, accommodating, jovial. My cousin had the veggie burger and my daughter had the regular burger. Everything was fantastic.

Barman was friendly and chatty, big screens showing football/UFC/baseball etc. Drinks were served quickly, bar has a good selection. Great place to pop in for a few.

Typical Bar food, but better than average

By Gma0917 |

even have $1 oysters... it gets crowded for lunch, and happy hour but if you can find a spot its always a good lunch or pre event dinner. a bit on the expensive side for what it is, but for the area its a fine spot

Good food, bad service

By James P |

The food was very good. Service was marginal at best. The waitress didn't know the menu items, and never came back to check on drinks or further needs.

Oink oink!

By mgcampbell1101 |

Left the Pig N’ Whistle feeling short changed...and not only because Scotland got hammered. 20$ cover for six nations entry which included breakfast (don’t even think about asking for a veggie option). Nice, cosy bar with good screen coverage and reasonable beer prices. Service was what let it down (one individual), we were made to feel like a burden- a bit of common curtesy and it would be have been great.

Best corn chowder and their Ale is good

By cristal2004 |

I loved the corn chowder it is the best one I have tried. Their Ale was really good. The service was normal. And they open at 11 am, which is great for having a beer and a soup and continue sight seeing (specially in cold weather). When I am in NYC I would go back.

Dollar oysters

By Robinv1963 |

Very nice little pub for a small bite to eat. The oysters were on special at $1.00 each & where actually very appetizing. I had the steak burger & fries which was also good. The service was great & price was very reasonable. I would definitely return

LOVELY LITTLE PUB

By Kath J |

Found this pub by complete accident and I'm glad we did. It's lovely and cosy, the food is really nice (give the soup a try) and the staff are very friendly. Free wifi too.

Very nice dinner

By Digger0713 |

Stopped here with my wife for dinner and it was very enjoyable. They had a short wait and we got seated pretty quickly. They had some drink specials which was nice and they tasted really good. They have all types of irish food from appetizers, soup, sandwiches, and traditional irish meals. I had the bangers and mash and my wife had the fish and chips. Both were very good and the portions were large. The service was good and we would definitely come here again.

Good food, ok service

By amehen23 |

We decided to go here for food based on reviews. It was a Thursday night and it was not busy. We sat at a table in the bar. We ordered an appetizer from one server but another took our dinner order. We never got the appetizer. Good thing our dinner arrived and the shepherd's pie and mac n cheese were good. The service was very slow. Would probably not go back if in the area again.
