Little Gem

By Jennifer C |

Thisa little gem was hidden away and we only found it by accident. The crowds on Times Square were to heavy to get through so we walked up a side street and found this Pub, We had our evening meal here and the food and service were great.

Best Drunk Nachos Ever

By Deborah S |

The only thing open late night near our hotel, it was worth trekking a few blocks for the best nachos I've ever had. Atmosphere was nice and there were a few craft beer options.

Good, but not quite what we expected...

By Susan S |

We stopped in here for dinner after seeing a taping of Late Night with Seth Meyers and before a 4 hour drive back to Maryland. Excited to hit an Irish pub, we didn't feel as if the menu was very Irish! Yes, there were a few typical items such as Shepherd's Pie and fish and chips, but that was about it as far as "typical" Irish food. We ended up ordering the rigatoni special, a turkey club, the salmon and a Philly cheese steak. We were satisfied with the food, service and pricing, but had just anticipated more of an Irish experience.

My 50th vacation

By Karl P |

Thanks Karl for a wonderful evening. Really enjoyed the evening with you. Great night, very friendly and would recommend to anyone staying in NYC

Fun and relaxing

By susiemwj |

We went to the Pig and Whistle on a Saturday afternoon for a drink and a relax and it really hit the spot. The atmosphere was nice. We didn’t have any food but we might go back for a dinner or lunch

Impromptu bite to eat

By Gordi05 |

We were meeting up with friends and wanted somewhere to have a bite to eat and a drink. We just happened to be passing by the Pig N Whistle the weather was chilly and the prospect of warm food enticed us in. Well I don't know if it was the chill air outside but I had a very tasty 100% black Angus burger, and all of my friends also appeared to enjoy the food as there was clean plates all around. The staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive, so no hesitation recommending.

Great eats!

By Acrabtree000 |

We all enjoyed our meal i had the chicken tenders and cajun fries amazing fries! My son had the chessy mac and my husband had the shepards pie

Terrible service - don't waste your money at this place!!!!!

By Mai |

I typically do not leave reviews unless I am thoroughly impressed or extremely disappointed. We went here for dinner after we left the Empire State Building. We were sat in the back of the restaurant by the kitchen area. The hostest that shows us to the table was pleasant - but then it went down hill from there. Our waitress looks like she hated her job the moment we sat down. The water glass was smaller than most and it did not get refilled until we asked - mind you our waitress was litterally just standing by the cash register and look around - and not filling our water. To top off the horrendus service, they automatically added tip to the bill (we only have two people!). The food was average compared to other places we been to in Time Square area. Will never come here again or the Pig and Whistle chain - I would rather go for street food than eat at this place again.

Service needs improvement

By Roxana R |

Great place but the food and service needs huge improvement. There is an automatic 18%gratuity no matter the group size. So the incentive to be on top of their tables seems to be out the door. We were only a group of 5, and one bill.

Tourist trap

By tim f |

This place is a short walk from Radio City, and we were attracted to the convenience. We should have kept walking. Wait staff was disinterested. Waited way too long for drinks. I was looking forward to the fish and chips: shoe string fries and frozen fish. It was a disappointment. At least the Guinness was a good pour.

Great chili!

By Joe58156 |

A group of 5 of us were able to quickly get a table in a VERY crowded pub at 7pm. very grateful for that. All we wanted was soups and drinks, and we were served quickly. The chili was delicious. A surprisingly good, quick stop in a very crowded neighborhood.

Not far from catastrophe

By hromator |

For a beer you can come, but dont eat there. The cook is not a cook, maybe pig, maybe whistle. Easy burger was overcooked without any taste, service was slow, unfriendly, noisy speakers, for that money is all oor other NYC experience better.

Birthday Celebration

By Rhonda H |

Thanks to Theresa and the team for a lovely evening, we were in New York for my Dad's birthday and had a meal and few drinks in there. Excellent meal and service

It'll do, pig. It'll do.

By ohdanigirl75 |

Not the best Irish pub in Manhattan, but not the worst. Fish was hot, fries were cold, but not the waitress' fault so we didn't hassle her about it. Shepherd's pie was very hearty but a tad bland, but I know how to use salt and pepper shakers so it's fine. The crab and asiago dip was very good. The restrooms at the airport were cleaner than these. Their signature Pig and Whistle beer is not half bad. If you like rugby and pee standing up, you'll love this place.

Not friendly

By love2travel1207 |

We waited 20 minutes for a table and the hostess gave it away because a few people from our party were a few blocks away. Then we waited another 25 minutes and a fire broke out so we never really got to try the food. The hostess was very rude and not friendly at all. I would never try coming back here to try the food.

Nice resting spot

By emorrisaz |

After walking for awhile, we stopped for lunch. They had Guiness on tap, a great Shepherd's pie and a warm and relaxing atmoshere. The service was wonderful and it gave us the energy to keep walking!

great crabmeat and mushroom soup

By SPN21 |

We dropped in to visit one afternoon while on a walking tour of the city. The cup of mushroom and crabmeat soup was very good ($3). Happy hour included several menu items as well as beer (6 - 8 dollar) and sangria($8). Staff was laid back, friendly and available when needed. Seating was at the bar or high tables plus a few booths. Typical casual ambience for the NYC bar scene. This one is a good example of an Irish pub. No tablecloths here. We enjoyed our visit. Tasty pub fare

By barley3487 |

Stumbled across this by accident and had a really surprisingly delicious lunch. The macaroni with bacon special tastes great and the bread on the pulled pork sandwich was lovely though it was massive could only get through half of it.

Great Rugby Pub

By Matthew J |

Great atmosphere and a good beer selection. Very friendly staff. It was a nightmare getting a drink, but it was the rugby world cup semi final so I won't judge too much. All in all a good experience.

Friendly Bar

By sunbedslob |

Stopped for one, ended up having several!!!! Great food, excellent service. Really nice atmosphere. We only intended to have a drink but my wife and I ended up spending a couple of hours as we ate aswell. The food was top notch, shared a few of the starters. The beers were really good, luckily we passed by a few days later so we popped in again. Ended up having a few again. If you want a relaxed atmosphere and great bar food then this is the place.

Great Irish Pub

By Michael g |

We have a Pig & Whistle in San Francisco, so when we stumbled across this one, we had to stop in. This place has great ambience, efficient and friendly service and great food. In addition to British and Irish beers, they also feature some local micro brews. A great little haven in mid-town.

Lunch visit

By NorthstanderBrighton |

Was drawn in by its appearance a good Irish pub advertising English football so as was a Saturday wanted to catch up and check scores not very big and not a lot of space if you wanted a table bar area was ok but we got stuck in a dark corner at the back by the toilet we ordered light snacks and coffees and a tea coffee was bad and not hot onion rings were very good and soup was good atmosphere and inside was not for me maybe on a evening it is more appealing this is not a negative review just not for me on the day I went staff were all pleasant so don't walk by give it a try

budget lunch

By SamP19 |

$13 for a burger and a pint just off Times Square, cant argue with that. Pre-set lunch changes daily. Food was cooked to order and generous portion.

Great food

By Shaun A |

Great food in a fantastic location to watch new york at its best. Great service and reasonably priced

Can't beat an Irish pub in NYC

By hoffmailman |

Didn't realize til after we walked in that we had been here many years earlier w/ our daughters. The place is lively, lots of TV's w/ sports on. Food for NYC is very, very reasonable and lots of choices for everyone's taste.

Nice place to grab a pint and a bite to eat

By IrishRover |

Stopped the night before all restuarants had to stop inside dining. Good service nice menue and two for one drinks and appetizers is not so bad either. My friend had the Gaelic Chicken i had the sliders and fries. Both made well we will stop again

Pitstop on way back to hotel

By paulanchris |

Friendly welcoming staff. Didn't have any food just a couple of drinks at the bar. Food coming out looked nice. Pleasant atmosphere lots of choices in the way of spirits

Not what it used to be

By Audrey D |

I used to come here years ago after work with all my coworkers. It was always a chill spot to hang!! I stopped in recently and it hasn’t changed much at all. Reminds me how old school midtown can feel. Loved the music playlist, the vibe, the bartenders used to be chill too. So I stopped in to meet a few friends I used to work with and we got some seats at the bar but the bartender took 20 minutes to make her way to our side.. idk if she purposely decided she didn’t want to serve anyone on our side or maybe she was having too much fun flirting with her customers from the other end.. so we’re sitting there chatting and observing the bar and it was just a mess back there I don’t even want to describe what I saw.. when she finally came by to us we lost interest in hanging there and headed to another spot in the area. Not my vibe anymore I suppose.

The customer is always wrong!

By martildo |

Asked about using vouchers at the door. Told that we could use one per person. We had 4 vouchers for a party of 7. So we thought no problem. Upon the bill coming out and presenting our vouchers the manager was called and told us we could only use one voucher. Clearly unhappy about the conflicting information we discussed this with the manager who said there was nothing she could do and was policy. We now have $75 of vouchers which we can't use because we live in England. We were told the member of staff was new and didn't know. I run a business and if we were to offer such appalling customer service I would speak to the member of staff involved. If proved to be true I would apologise and accept my mistake. But..... not here! Never again! Manager rude and abrupt

Good decision

By Felix V |

I see this place a lot of time but never came in, surprise for me. excellent food , good servers, and a lot of privacy inside . thank god I just came in

Cozy

By My_opinion12345 |

Stopped in for a few pints with some friends. Friendly neighbor hood pub in the middle of mayhem, in terms of location. It's holiday season and the place had lights everywhere and it was a nice little watering hole. Can't tell you about the food.

Guinness, Jameson and Shepherds Pie . . .

By Joe F |

Fun spot - been coming here on and off for a few years when in the city - right around the corner from where I usually stay - the only hit is the shepherds pie has had a lot of carrots lately - and no peas -

Nice place, but below average service

By Remi H |

Nice place, with good ambience. Very difficult to get attention from the barkeeps, even with few guests. We had to sweep a cockroach off the bar disk. Chicken wings tasted vinegar mostly. Drinks were watery.

Amazing bar in NYC

By Dave Shanks |

Amazing bar set in the centre of midtown NYC and super friendly staff and amazing food! Found this by happy accident and glad of it!

Exactly what we were looking for on a rainy night

By Nytex1130 |

We decided to take the night double-decker bus tour in NYC and so needed some dinner and fortification for what looked to be a rainy evening. Pig & Whistle was perfect. A nice, unhurried dinner, attentive service. I had a Philly Cheese steak, which was fine if not inspired. Daughter had pub grub which was ample and filling. There appeared to be a number of sociable regulars at the bar which tells you something about the comfort level here. Right off Times Square but feels like it could be right off Main Street.

Fantastic find - the Pig and Whistle

By victorias369 |

Definitely thoroughly recommend lovely staff great ambience gorgeous food I had a really superb salad my husband had a brilliant burger very well presented and cooked. We had just got off a flight from london so were really jet lagged and the staff could not have done more for us. I am going back this week I love you Pig and Whistle and thank you for a great experience! Best wishes Victoria Smyth

A good experience that feels unique to New york

By Billy H |

As a tourist having spent a few days in NYC this place is where we went the night before leaving. The experience was great as the food was very very good. I had the ribs and didn't taste better for a long time.

The disappointment with the taste of the beer, bland.

By Lulu0655 |

An Irish pub that doesn't have Irish beer? Common Bud at $10 a pint. A 20% tip imposed. Supplements everywhere $3 for cheddar in a burguer. Nice waitress.

Drinks

By Helen B |

Friendly efficient bar staff. Made us feel very comfortable. My male friend bought t shirts that night and even though I was on the large side....very large...the barman never asked me what size ..just discreetly handed me the correct size . No need for everyone else in the bar to know it was extra large .Thank you for the discretion. Good music in the background..not too loud but loud enough to enjoy and have a chat. Enjoyed my evening there. Would definitely seek it out next time I'm in New York.

Great NYC Bar

By BobIvey633 |

Really great NYC bar with a good vibe and very friendly and helpful staff. I was on a short visit to the great city and ended up eating here most nights as it had the best menu and choices. The tacos were excellent and the garlic chicken even better.

Noisy but good food

By KathyJx |

I went here with party of four. No wait to be seated. I got the chicken pot pie. It was the best I have ever had. Absolutely wonderful. But the place was loud and service was acceptable (not great). Paid $20 for entree and drink.

Guiness on Tap

By Joe6strings |

A nice Irish Pub in the Times Square area of New York City. We stopped in after dinner for a few late night drinks and loved this place. The atmosphere and overall vibe are nice, the service great and the fresh Guiness on tap smooth and outstanding!

Good place for entertainment

By StephenCross |

Pin N’ Whistle has a few locations in New York. Good spot and taking up the traditional English pub approach. Good food and service.

Fun Pub, great food!

By Monteagle Inn & Retreat Center |

Stopped in the have lunch and chose the Reuben. It was superb! We had and ale and a cosmo to enjoy our experience even more. Highly recommend. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Sandwich was huge!

Drinks after the Rockerfeller Centre!

By Karen W |

We went in here for a drink after doing the Rockerfeller Centre. It’s an Irish pub. We were thankful for a warm after being outside in the cold. Nice atmosphere and a friendly welcome. Would recommend.

Good Place For Lunch

By Mike H |

My wife and I ate here at about 2:00 pm in the upstairs section. Our waiter was for Dublin which was a great touch for an Irish Pub. The calamari appetizer and pulled pork sandwich were outstanding along with the service.

Good Luck, getting served?!

By eventsbythirteen |

When a bar is busy on a Friday night, I do not have any issue, about the length of time it takes to be served. But, this neighborhood bar was not that busy?! It took nearly twenty minutes to be served. But, I generally like neighborhood bars, they're largely local. I will try others before coming here!

Fun place

By crabgroupie |

This was my second time eating at this restaurant. The food is very good and the atmosphere is great . Service is excellent which makes it a perfect place to eat before a show.

Good

By MRGlynn |

Popped in on our last day to kill time. Great atmosphere and staff friendly and attentive. Only had a quick bite to eat bit a fair few drinks. Great food and drink selection and reasonably priced. Defo worth a visit.

Drink

By Jose R |

Great time, good people. Good food easy to find. On priced, great variety of beers and drinks, nice Christmas decoration.

Good food and service

By Darlene T |

This was a third visit and it only gets better, we had a variety of food from salads, burgers, soups, all were great. Service was good until the end and our waiter disappeared, found him bartending and forgot about us.... Would recommend, good menu and I think 3 locations

Great ambience and food - great place to stop pre or post theater

By Cindi S |

After our matinee we headed to the Pig and Whistle, conveniently located just steps from Times Square. Great for happy hour drinks! My sister had the crab cake, which was moist, flavorful and prepared in more of a Latin style. I had the tequila lime mussels (a generous portion of about 2 dozen mussels) served in a broth along with chorizo, jalapeños and cilantro. The flavors exploded in a delightful way. Our server was very pleasant and helpful. Would definitely recommend and return to the Pig and Whistle next time in NYC.

Irish pub

By RALPH B |

Casual warm and friendly atmosphere . Plenty of TV screens to catch your favorite game . Perfect Spanish before concert or play for dinner . Waitress is attentive and used to getting you exactly what you want and expedient fashion food is prepared fresh and delicious . Fish and chips were authentic, not greasy with a healthy portion. Chicken Jamison what is this delicious as the presentation was beautiful with the basamati rice over the top Extraordinary

Quick bite in a lucky find

By Smiffy |

Popped in for a snack and a drink with 5 friends. Has a nice lay out and the elevated table at the front is ideal for watching the world go by. Restaurant service offered, but we only want a drink and a snack. They were still very accommodating. Ordered a lovely roast beef sandwich with a dip. My friend equally enjoyed their orders. Would happily return and fully recommend it.

Enjoyed an early dinner with drinks!

By Upstate NewYorker |

Stopped in while out walking, had an early dinner with great service. The burger and the salmon were both good and the drinks were as well. I recommend you try it!

Great casual midtown restaurant.

By Aaron W |

We were around the Rockefeller Center area and looking for a good place for dinner. Many places had long waits but we managed to get a table in the outside seating area at this place. It was heated well enough that we felt comfortable on a cold evening. The service was great. The drinks were well done, reasonable strong but delicious. The food was great! We had the shepherd's pie and braised short rib tacos.

A nice Irish pub serving good food and reasonable cost drinks

By AZFlyer |

I was there several times during the 4th of July week watching the world cup and enjoying the company. Had a very pleasant time. It's a little noisy but, hey, it's an Irish pub!

Dark cosy pub.

By Claire C |

A cosy pub but very dark inside. Food came relatively quickly, service was good. We had the salmon, ribs, fettuccine with mushrooms and spaghetti bolognaise. All the food was tasty.

Nice place to relax

By Bill C |

There food is delicious and plentiful. I especially enjoyed their Shepard's Pie and Chicken Pot Pie. They both had a good option of meat. The service was excellent, very friendly and professional. Rose, the hostess, was excellent! She made all! The customers feel at home. The drinks are reasonable for NYC prices, but could give a better happy hour selection.

Good

By Fiona H |

We ate here twice as it was convenient and provided good comfort food. The shepherd pie was good. I had the chicken Parma which was suitably large the second time we went I had chicken with Jameson sauce. Really liked it. Remember this is a hotel it’s not a restaurant. Good selection of beers on tap.

Excellent

By KathyJx |

This is the best Irish pub I’ve found in the Bryant Park/ Times Square area. Chicken pot pie was yummy and ambiance was nice.

Quick Eats in Times Square Area

By YayeMama |

En route to a show in NYC this evening, we dropped in for a quick bite to eat. We were immediately seated and given a table upstairs, where it was quite chilly on this cold winter day, but our waitress immediately put on the heater which kept us warm throughout our meal. This is a pub fare type of restaurant with a full bar and wine menu and it does not disappoint. The food was quick and good and we were on our way to the show.

yep, a nice spot.

By Kelly M |

We went here for a nightcap and to get warm from the cold weather. The service was efficient and the ambiance great! Thanks!

So delicious!

By Davina H |

We had A party of 6. We had no wait on a Sunday night. We decided to order a bunch of appetizers from the bar menu. They had great deals and great food. The staff was amazing.

Cozy Little Pub

By darthsansa14 |

Had dinner here on a cold, rainy, and very busy Friday night in November. We were promptly seated and served, even though we had a group of 6. Service was friendly and attentive. All the food was very good. I had pork tacos, which I enjoyed. A couple people in my group had dessert, which was also good. I would definitely eat here again.

Great casual lunch spot

By Jenni L |

We were visiting the Top of the Rock so needed to grab a quick lunch beforehand and this place drew us in with the nice decor and ambience, especially around Christmas with all the lovely fairy lights. The service was fast and friendly and the cocktails were nice and strong! I ordered the french dip sandwich which was lovely; the beef was clearly great quality and the everything came out hot and fast. A little on the large side but that's American portions in general.

Great fun!

By Laura L |

The food is great. A nice place to relax while you are visiting NYC for the holidays! Get a cool Christmas tshirt while you are there!

Disgusting service

By Emma T |

I had lunch here with my friend and received disgusting service from the blonde waitress. We were glared and and spoken to like dirt for no reason and guilt tripped for not leaving an additional tip on top of 20%!! Avoid this place unless you want to be treated like dirt for no reason. Appalling! I work in a service industry and would never be so rude.

Yum!

By corilynnb |

Not only is it a good place to rest, but the food is great too! Try the pub favorites - chicken pot pie or shepherds pie and you won't be disappointed.

Best

By Rebecca K |

Best service! James is the kindest bartender you'll ever meet! Didn't try the food. Menu had mostly local items. Not much for Ireland fare. Beer selection good, conversation great! A must visit! Thanks James!

Loved it

By Patty C |

Food and service was good. Reserved a table and were in the corner and it was great to be able to enjoy the bar without all the noise.

Nice older pub

By CrystalN320 |

After a beautiful walk on the High Line, the sky opened up and it began to pour. We made our way to The Pig & Whistle for a drink to wait out the rain. There were different games on the TVs and groups of people maybe coming from or going to a Rangers game. The music playing was an eclectic but enjoyable mix. The service was good (we just had drinks) not sure what the selection was for food....

Busy, good value, great location

By Suzanne F |

We were in New York on a day trip and had been to the 2pm Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall. We wanted to grab a bite to eat and come back to see the lights at Rockerfeller Plaza when it was dark. There was quite a queue for the cafes at Rockerfeller so we asked a security guy where would he eat. He sent us to The Pig and Whistle which was less than 5 minutes away. It was really busy but we were seated straight away upstairs (party of 3). The tables were really packed tight but given the time of year it's to be expected. We had Seared Atlantic Salmon, Philly Cheese Steak and the NBC Supreme Sirloin Hamburger with a Pepsi and a glass of wine. Food was served quickly and was hot and tasty. Bill came to $72 plus tip. Definitely worth a visit if you're in NYC.

1st Night in New York.

By posty68 |

After arriving in NYC, Friday morning, we sort out this bar. It was on the doorstep of our hotel, The Moxy, which was ideal. On entering the bar, we were met and seated within a minute. We ordered our food, burgers which was just what we needed after a day spent travelling. The bar area was standing room, with a mix of locals & tourists. The food arrived, piping hot, another good sign. The cost was under $USD35 for 2 of us, so we didnt feel as if we were overcharged. Will we go back? Yes, owing to good service, friendly & pleasant staff & a good place to relax.

Great bar and staff

By Reviewsbymom |

Great Irish bar with good vibes. Super friendly and fast bar staff. Hidden gem we lucked into one evening while strolling the Rockefeller area! Highly recommend!

Nice and cozy

By Rebe E |

Food and beer were very good! Good service! It's a perfect place to relax after a long walk in the cold.

Nice pub

By Patricia Soyles |

Very nice food and drinks! Very friendly staff and very quick service! All drinks is very delicious and the food is very fresh!!!

Rude, appalling customer treatment

By Tim W |

Just stopped in here for a friendly drink after a long day sightseeing. Found a table to sit at - not laid-up for dining, not marked as reserved etc... There just 2 minutes when the owner brusquely told us to move as our table was only for those eating. No apology, just turfed-off our table - as we’re a couple of others at the next table. Again, no apology. Rude way to treat innocent customers and appalling customer service. All about the money, I guess!

Great place

By Cazzey |

Brillant service from Francesco the best Barman in New York! Great service and food best place in NY! Good food also well worth a visit.

Great pub in the heart of midtown

By michael m |

Have been a regular each time we go to New York. The people are friendly the staff is first class and the drinks are just right!

The best Irish restaurant in the area!

By Lynn S |

What a perfectly great party we ended up having in November of 2025! Lovely ambience, energy, flow and decor, warm hospitality, great drinks and food, in a convenient location close to Radio City Music Hall. Great management, communication, and party planning assistance from Teresa! Bartenders and wait staff are the best. In a sea of Irish restaurants in the area, Pig and Whistle is absolutely the best!!

Expensive, less than average food.

By HappyTravelingCanuck |

A light dinner for 2 adults and 2 children was $160 before taxes and tip (oh, and the 20% tip is mandatory!) Not sure if they jacked the price up because of the time of year but I certainly would never visit here again. Although we haven't been to every pub in the city, I'm sure it's not "NYC's Best Irish Pub". To her credit, the lady greeting us at the door was very welcoming and funny.

Small and dark

By Legal_itinerant |

Tucked on a side street off Times Square, this is a standard Irish pub with no frills. Come for a quick after hours drink but don't expect anything too fancy.

Average food, rude staff and very poor service

By furbie27 |

Stopped for a bite to eat on our last day in New York and really wish we hadn't!! The food was average at best with small portions compared to other pub style restaurants in New York and the service was extremely poor. When we arrived we were seated by the waitress upstairs at the smallest possible table, pushed right up against the wall, even though most of the other tables were empty. Despite this bad start we ordered food and drinks from the waitress and patiently waited for our food to arrive. Whilst waiting a table of Americans arrived and they were seated at a larger table next to us. They also ordered food and drinks which surprisingly arrived 10 minutes before our meals even though we had only ordered a sandwich wrap and chips as the menu was very limited. When our food arrived it was simply placed on the table and the waitress disappeared very quickly. She made repeated visits to the table of Americans to ask if everything was ok and if they needed anything extra but not once did she ask if our meals were ok or if we needed more drinks etc which I found to be extremely rude and lazy of the waitress considering we were only sat at the next table. When my partner finished his meal she was quick to whip away the plate even though I was still eating and the bill was promptly presented the minute my plate was taken away. Again we were not asked if we required a desert or additional drinks before the bill arrived. The waitress returned for the bill in a matter of minutes before we even had the chance to discuss how much tip to leave in light of the poor service and quality of food. We had to ask her to give us a few more minutes and she stood at the end of the bar staring and waiting for us to hand over our money. The suggested tip highlighted on the bill was either 15% 20% or 23% which we felt she did not deserve. We ended up tipping 11% of the total bill, even though my partner did not want to tip at all, as we felt uncomfortable in the restaurant as she was staring at us and clearly waiting for her tip. When she collected the bill there was no thank you or pleasantries she simply picked it up and walked off. When we left the restaurant we walked past the waitress and the bar person and not one of them spoke to us or even looked in our direction. They were clearly upset at the tip we had left but did not care to ask us why we had left a smaller tip or if there was a problem with the service or food. I also went to the toilet upstairs during our visit and it did not flush properly and there was no hot water to wash your hands. Fingers crossed the staff have different toilet facilities to wash their hands in order to remain hygienic when serving!! In short I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting from the UK as the level of service is significantly lower than the service provided to people living in the US and the waiting staff display an entitled attitude when it comes to tipping even though they deliver a very poor service. If your looking for a good restaurant with a high level of customer service I would recommend Juniors in times square.

Food good, service not so

By dnkeenan |

Went in on a Wednesday night and went to second floor given ground floor had no space for 4. Ordered drinks and food. Drinks came except pint of lager. Several minutes later when i enquired i was told it was on the way given it had to come from downstairs. Then starter came, before the beer eventually arrived. Food was good and mains came soon after starter. Service was poor throughout though with us having to ask for more drinks then more napkins. It wasnt as if the place was busy as there was only one other table occupied. Last straw was receiving bill with 18% tip already included. totally goes against the idea of the tipping whereby waiters etc are incentivised to provide a good service in order to be rewarded accordingly. As a result of such a policy i can only assume service has suffered. Real pity.

Good value lunch in midtown Manhattan

By Anthony S |

We had an excellent casual lunch at Pig 'n' Whistle in midtown Manhattan. We both had salads which didn't have much lettuce (low cost) but a lot of avocado, chicken and bacon (high cost). So we loved it. The wait staff were charming and efficient. We recommend this restaurant

Ok spot to grab a drink and a bite

By COLadyRoadWarrior |

This restaurant is very, very loud. It’s difficult to carry on a conversation with friends at your table. The menu is simple/short but very diverse, which can be good or bad depending on your preference. i.e. if you’re looking for a food theme, you won’t find it here. The wine list is pretty dreadful, especially the reds. Our waiter wasn’t very knowledgeable about the wines or even which were available by the bottle vs by he glass. The restrooms were horrendously filthy. I realize it’s soppy patrons making the mess, but it’s important that management sends a staff member by to keep the bathrooms usable on busy nights.

Irish pubish

By suecling01 |

Irish style pub/ restaurant with great atmosphere. Food is good , a bit pricey- but- it is the city. It was ok.

Just what we needed

By Catherine N |

Popped into this pub on the off chance..I was out shopping with my sister and we both needed a break from shopping..I had the pulled pork and my sister the turkey burger..the food was delicious and freshly cooked..service was excellent and our waiter who only came over from Ireland two weeks ago was very friendly and efficient..we will definitely come here again.

Friendly and nice

By Clare B |

We visited on the first full day of our honeymoon for some tea after Top of the Rock, before going up the Empire State Building. Our welcoming was good, we were made to feel most welcome and quickly seated. The service was quick and efficient. The waiter had moved to New York whilst falling in love with the City after studying there. He was knowledgeable and gave us some insights in to the local area, which we greatly appreciated. My husband had a burger with pulled pork but I can’t remember what I had, I know I enjoyed it though! There was a massive range of drinks available at the bar and plenty of choice on the menu. We would have loved to come back but being in the area for only 7 days felt we should try something else everyday!! Free WiFi is good, as mobile data costs are too high if you’re on a UK network.

The best in New York - no kidding

By Jackie B |

Looking for something that we had not done before, and stumbled upon this bar. Killian, the bartender, was amazing. The food was so good and...just what we needed. Might sounds silly, but the bathrooms were so clean. They played the world cup, and were decorated for the holidays to the max. Will be here every year.

Great find!

By KDW2013 |

After a stinking hot walk up 6th Avenue after spending a few hours in the MoMA we could see a sign for an Irish pub. We had burgers and a couple of beers. We had only been sitting for a few minutes when we saw the Times Square car crash on the tv's - very scary. Service was good and the food was great. Check it out if you can.

Pig and whistle NY

By jcox1975 |

Food is great and well priced, if you are after simple and wholesome meals this is the place, bar tenders are fantastic and engaging, we actually went here a few times while we were in New York. Family friendly and would highly recommend.

Fun place for a drink.

By robert m |

Stopped in for a quick drink and desert. Forget the deserts. It is a bar...You will get a good drink in a fun environment, but don't do a desert. What were we thinking..

Great atmosphere, drinks and food

By suzarm1 |

Great service, great food, and great drinks! Very low key and easy going place to relax and enjoy our family.

Delightful and Wonderful lunch!

By craftysharon19 |

We happened upon this little restaurant, at the suggestion of our hotel desk staff, and it is a delightful and delicious venture! We were pleasantly surprised with the food and the atmosphere and service! Definitely worth visiting and experiencing!

Lovely Spot to wet your whistle

By k8hollowood |

This a really great place to spend an hour or two. We just had drinks but the staff were lovely, the atmosphere was lively & the measures generous! It doesn't feel like a tourist trap despite its location to time square and the prices are actually pretty good!

Great Vesper martinis!

By mazatar |

We stumbled across The Pig & Whistle pretty much by accident, when looking for a place to watch a soccer game. Didn't order food so I can't say much about that but service was quick and they make amazing martinis. Place also looked very clean but surprisingly rather empty.

Great location and hospitality

Welcoming Irish pub with great food and beers. Well worth a visit to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and central location. So good we went back again! Enjoy!

A great place to wind down after a hard days sightseeing!

By Ian R |

Found this friendly little pub on our very first night and just kept going back! Big thanks to Eugene, Katie, Billy and all the staff for helping to make our NYC visit such a success. Not just a pub, the food was lovely and we particularly enjoyed the sirloin steak burgers - brilliant! Keep up the good work folks...

Good food and no wait

By Tony d |

Came here for dinner with the family after some sightseeing.Got a table pretty easily, which makes one think twice on whether this would be a good place. The food we ordered was actually very good for the most part. Would recommend the fish and chips and chicken pot pie. The crusted tuna and salmon were prepared well, but did not seem fresh. Our server did not seem enthusiastic, but did an adequate job.

Great food, fun and friendly atmosphere!

By Michael B |

My family traveled to NYC for a quick pre-holiday getaway and found a gem of an Irish Pub for dinner. The menu includes the usual Irish Pub fare but the highlight is their burgers. In particular, their Signature burger was extraordinary when paired with the Pig and Whistle Ale. In addition to a generous bar area downstairs, there is a second level that includes another bar and more restaurant seating. The music was current Pop which had us singing along as we enjoyed our meal. The service was excellent: fast, friendly and courteous. Dinner for four including three Pig and Whistle Ales barely topped $100. Not too bad for the ambience and close proximity to Times Square. Give it a try.

AWESOME

By bullet45 |

Great food and drinks. Authentic Irish bartender so much fun. We always stop here when we are in town. Soup and bar food is amazing. You won’t be disappointed

Good food, good service and good prices!

By bumble2424 |

Stopped here for a late dinner. What a nice surprise. Had a shepherds pie that was quite delicious and didn't require a second mortgage, and the service was good.

Worth a visit.

By iainfen |

Went to the pig and whistle first night in New York and was not disappointed.service was excellent as was the food, best steak I have ever had.prices were reasonable for the city for drinks too.will definitely be going back.

Our second visit

By Dawn Bryant H |

Great location, great food, great pints. Again, we stumbled upon this place while sightseeing near Rockefeller Center and again had a terrific experiece. Great service, great beer, great food. Highly recommend the fish & chips. Someone next to us order the curry and it smelled so fabulous we almost ordered a second entree. The Pig & Whistle has become an NYC favorite for us.

Just our walking and decided to stop in for a late lunch!

By mharp2017 |

Great service and great food! Very friendly atmosphere! We enjoyed our late lunch so much that we stopped in later in the day for a glass of wine and watched some of the US Open on TV.

Reserve a table on the upstairs terrace!!

By Melissa R |

We had a great time! The food and service were excellent. I had their Pork Slab pale ale, which was on special but tasted great. I always order Shepherd's Pie when I go to an Irish pub, but decided to order the blackened tuna instead. It was the best meal I had all week, and we ate at some really good/expensive restaurants. Our server, Jennifer, was exceptional. Thanks!!

Appalling customer service

By Robert C |

Came in on my own on a Monday night, went to bar and bartender saw me but stopped to chat to other customers. I asked if they were doing food and was told yes and to speak to hostess. Grumpy Chinese lady seemed annoyed that I asked for a table for 1. Was then seated abruptly and then ignored. After 10mins I managed to wave down a member of staff who offer to take drinks order. Ordered food at same time and it was ok when it came. For a society that relies on tips, they need to work on their customer service.

Food was good. Service ok.

By Cbcfkc |

Went on a Saturday around 6 pm. Very busy. 20-30 minute wait. Food was good. Service just ok. Would go back.

Pre Theatre Dinner.

By Glendower8 |

Stumbled across this establishment trying to avoid the excessive crowds in TImes Square.Good honest fare, fish and chips shepherds pie etc ,pleasant staff and free refills on soft drinks and a reasonably priced wine listing.

Friendly

By I Travel |

I had a pulled pork burger and my wife had the same without the bun and it was very nice and at $5 a pint it's not too bad, really friendly staff and the Irish waitress we had was very friendly and personable

Welcoming and cosy pub for World Cup!

By GTR1970 |

Ended up here to watch both semi finals of the World Cup with my wife and two teenage kids. We had looked in a few places but this one looked the best bet. The atmosphere was good, staff were great and food was pretty decent. Lots of TV screens to watch the game - I would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to watch the final. It’s a 1 minute walk from the heat of watching the mega big screen at Times Square!!

Good

By mishmash71 |

We popped in on route back to our hotel. ‘one for the road’ was nice chilled atmosphere, cozy space. Staff were friendly even with the póg ma thion T shirts. 😂

Perfect For After Theatre

By Ultratrav |

Nice and friendly. Maybe it caters to tourists but so what it looks real. I had the fish an ut was great!

Great place

By Karlzmny |

We stopped in for a bite and a couple beers. After looking over the menu and walking around I have to say place is very clean and the food is good. What stuck out the most for me was their amber beer that is made just for them. Not sure of the name of the ale but their the only ones that have it. Definitely worth a try. Cheers!

Piggy Piggy

By Anna L P |

This is a bustling bar. TV screens all over. Noise is so loud you can't carry on a conversation. Food was very good.

Relaxing + Awesome Food

By Jared K |

Times Square is SO BUSY sometimes you just need to slow down. Pig and Whistle is half a block off Broadway, but it might as well be a world away. It was a nice, casual, Irish Pub with amazing, reasonably priced food. The Shepherd's Pie was simply incredible. Our server was super helpful: ask for recommendations! Huge two thumbs up.

Great atmosphere - strong cocktails

By Madison Y |

Great bar. Great drinks and food. Good atmosphere with friendly staff. Particular shout out to a lovely Australian lady behind the bar. Very welcoming - great lighting and array of seating. Found ourselves gravitating back here virtually every day of our trip. 100% recommend.

Great bar and great service

By DonNY845 |

Just another "Irish" bar.........

By Bruce H |

Same as the others Diane & I visited during our New York break, typical of the genre and rather underwhelming.............

Great Surprise off of T-Square

By Kevin C |

In the City for 5 days on business. Didn't want to go for another overpriced meal. I was staying in the zoo of humans on Time Square. Found the Pig had good bar food and great service. Oh and price was well worth it. Take break of the madness of Square are have a pint, good food and relax.

Had a great time at Pig 'N' Whistle 48th St. NYC

By P G |

Had a great time at Pig 'N' Whistle 48th St. NYC. Had some great whiskeys and a nice Irish car bomb here. The place was not busy, and thus got great service from our bartender. His Irish accent gave authenticity to this Irish bar.

Very enjoyable

By lupaba05 |

Very good Location, very friendly personal, good atmoshpere. Highly recommended!:) we‘ll come back for sure.

Nice.

By frankthreex I |

3 of us stopped in for dinner starving. Got 2 burgers and chicken fingers. The burgers were in the top 5 id probably ever eatin in my life. They were awesome. The fries were awesome. My son said the chicken fingers were awesome. Food was hot and served quickly. Had to wait a little for the check. Will definitely be back. Its tight in there if u go during peak hours.

Good Bar/Restaurant Near Rockefeller Center

By Jonathan R |

I came here for a high school reunion recently. Bar prices were competitive with other midtown bars (for example, $18 for a bourbon and ginger ale), but food prices were quite reasonable and the food we had was well-prepared.

Quick visit

By Catherine B |

Stopped here last night for food. Very quiet due to the snow. Served quickly by nice friendly staff. Nice atmosphere in this Irish pub. Food came quickly and it was very nice. Didn't stay long so just a quick visit this time. Can imagine it would normally be a pretty busy place.

Great pub!

By Coondog99 |

My wife and I ate here one night while on vacation in NYC. The location did not disappoint. The service was excellent, the menu was extensive and the portion size was just right. Would certainly visit again!

Great pint

By Dawn Bryant H |

Great fish & chips and great beer. Near all the action. Nice place to stop in for some lunch and a pint.

Family Trip to NYC

By AnnMarie |

We visited the Pig and Whistle on a bright and breezy sunny afternoon The Barman was really friendly and chatted to us (Being Irish its easy to strike up conversations with compatriots abroad) We had food and drinks and it was reasonably priced by NY standards. Food was excellent and plentiful. Very pleasant experience

Not good

By Travel791430 |

Was looking for a good place to eat and grap a drink and this place seemed like the place, the atmosphere was good, bar setting but the food wasnt good not a good selection either. The service lacked, the waitress didnt return to her tables to check on them👎

Good Food & Drinks with Friends before going to a Broadway Play!

By FrancnKathy |

Conveniently located in between the Theater District, We stopped in for a bite to eat and was pleasantly surprised, it is not only a Pub (Bar) but they have plenty of seating which we sat upstairs. The service is nice as we were offered a Free complimentary Budweiser Beer as they were sponsoring them. First we had appetizers, which we ordered Fried Calamari, French Onion Soup and Beer Battered Onion Rings. Everything was Delicious. Then my Friends all had a Burger on a Pretzel dough roll with Fries and I had the Beer Battered Cod Fish & Chips (I opted for the Onion rings iso fries. OMG, Everything was Delicious. My friend had a coupon from Restaurants.com for $25.00 Off our Bill. Boy oh boy, even though we had a discount coupon the Prices were very reasonable, Especially because everything was So Good. Also the Waitress has a Irish Brogue, which we loved and the place overall was an Delicious and Friendly, Fun Experience. What a Great beginning to a wonderful Nite, now off to the Broadway Play! Did I mention we had a Great Time! LoL

Killing time

By Baba |

Walked in with a friend. It happened to be our birthdays and saw this Irish bar. Great setup and attentive bartender. Place was jammed as most customers getting off work. Drinks are amazingly acceptable price wise and happy hour makes it better. Ample place to sit either at the bar or a high table with chairs. The food although we did not have any. Looked pretty yummy and smelled great. It’s kind of hidden between the streets. Great pit stop for a couple of drinks. Music is also good with nice vibes. Should stop by and have a drink.

Nice bar - good ambiance

By StephenCross |

Interesting bar and restaurant in mid town. Very busy on a Thursday night. The food was very much pub food. Enjoyable but not sensational. Service good.

Easy

By ddfred |

This was an easy, have a drink, snack type of visit - we sat at the bar, Barman super attentive - and when we asked if we could get bar snacks - it's not normally until 5pm but hey... The nachos are lovely, the perfect thing between two/three people, that keeps the lunchtime pull away but leaves enough room for dinner! The bar is a bar, it's a great find, and the barman we had was amazeballs - thank you

Right down the street from Muse hotel

By christophern389 |

Tried the salmon, mashed potatoes, vegetables, and had cranberry and orange juice mixed, great atmosphere, the food is great when in late, the had fresh food, made to order

Rude

By Jibarra8 |

Solicited on the street for a good deal since we had beer walk around decide to stop by place is nice some menu items are expensive but decide to go simple burgers. Waiter brought food and it was wrong tried to explain and he took it back only to come back again with the same order wrong again so since we were hungry just decided to fix it our self at which time the waiter got all mad and walked away when we tried to explain then came back with full attitude so ask for manager and he kept ignoring our request finally he got one and we explained our problems and how the waiter was rude she did remove the food from our bill but already had ruined the experience. We started eating 1 of the burgers was not cooked correctly never did the waiter ever come to give us refill we believe since tip is included for 5 or more people waiter didn’t care so we made sure to explain that to the manager as well. Over all don’t recommend.

Typical Pub Food, Nice Ambiance

By JillClardy |

After being outdoors for hours waiting for and watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade, we were looking for a place to sit in the warmth and some fortifying food. I chose the shepherd's pie which was tasty, hot and filling and my daughter chose the French dip which she enjoyed. The pub was quite full, and the service rather slow. We waited a long time for the bill to be delivered, though we didn't mind sitting there enjoying the warmth before venturing out again into the chilly air.

A decent Irish bar

By Ian M |

A group of us had a drink or three in here and had a good time. The barman was friendly and very efficient and the drinks were good. Being NYC and near times square don’t expect bargain booze but this goes with the territory. Nothing special or fancy but a good place for a cheery beer.

Great dinner and drinks

By troyyz |

While visiting NYC my wife and I enjoyed a delicious meal at this restaurant. We sat upstairs near the window and had a fine view of Times Square. The service was extraordinary and I would recommend the pulled pork sandwich. Simple yet very tasty. Cozy and personable place. Highly recommend!

Decent pub

By Kevin B |

We stopped in here last month before a show and it was a decent meal overall. It wasn't too busy so we were seated immediately and our service was pretty good throughout the meal. My wife had some wings and sweet potato fries and she enjoyed them overall. I had a grilled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and it was okay overall (the Irish bacon was very chewy). The pub atmosphere was nice here and it was what we were looking for overall. It's a good place to grab a quick meal if you're in the area. 3.5/5

Big portions

By Laura C |

we stumbled upon this place, just off times square, small pub. staff were very friendly and the food came quickly, very filling, big portions (for a Brit). would of eaten here again had we found it earlier in our trip. can recommend the sizzling beef with wraps.

Have to try it again

By monicacN2080AI |

The menu here looked very enticing; however I simply stopped in to have a drink. I'll say the Bloody Mary was not one of the best that I've had. But the atmosphere and the menu were enough to make me want to return to get the whole experience.

good place to relax and enjoy good food

By David C |

We enjoyed eating here more than any other place during our trip. very good food, fries were excellent

Good and bad

By Valeri S |

Stopped in before our Top of the Rock tour. My Cobb salad was excellent but my mom’s fish was undercooked. Server was sweet but didn’t check on us once.

What a gem of a place

By sarah lou 19 |

We popped in on a whim after a long flight from the UK and wanted something to eat. Wow, the service, food and atmosphere was amazing. Amazing value for money and the best burger and ribs we’ve ever had! Totally worth a visit.

First time

By dawnsuit |

Found this quaint place will walking in New York. Offers a wide variety of dishes, steaks, poultry, fish chicken and much more. Chicken Parm is fantastic and the Shrimp Scampi was delicious. Service was marginal. We would visit again of in New York

Well Located.

By Legerwoodman |

Stopped here for a quick lunch. Very warm welcome. Average food but quick service. The staff seems latino which is funny for an Irish Pub. Good place for something not too expensive.

Fab Guinness

By jonesy1002015 |

Enjoyed a pit stop here after shopping Guinness great atmosphere laid back and chilled staff awesome and very welcoming highly recommend

Food was Ok, it was very busy

By dispatchergurl |

We went there on Saturday around 2 p.m. and it was packed, we only had to wait about 15 mins for a table. The service was decent, the food was average. The prices were expensive for what you got. It was not overly impressive, but due to its proximity to Rockefeller Center and 5th Ave - it was priced that way.

Hole in the Wall

By ronem2015 |

My wife and I stopped in for a quick lunch on Saturday...she ordered the BBQ sandwich and I had the burger. Decent meal...all a bit pricey, but everything around Times Square is. Service was very slow and inattentive.

Whiskey & Vittles & Warm-up

By Rock R |

We stopped to recharge and refresh, and were delightfully surprised with a cozy 2 story pub with fine food and service. All Irish brands are served and we watched plate after plate of yummy food served to satisfied customers. My wife raves on the fries!

Really Great Bar with Friendly Staff

By Michael W |

The Pig and Whistle Bar was only a short walk from our hotel. We used to have a good walk around the walk to here at least once each day. We would just order drinks and then take a seat and chat and people watch. You are asked if you want food when you enter but still allowed to use the seating unless it is really busy. In the evenings the bar is extremely busy but still has some room at least for standing and on occasions there are a few seats left. The place has a really great atmosphere and the bar staff are helpful and friendly.

Enjoyed

By HowIReallyFeel |

Food was pretty good, service was mediocre to poor. We had crab cake and calamari appetizer, NBC buger, tuna melt, buffalo chicken wrap, chicken parmigiana, and a child's plate.

Good place for a quick drink and bite to eat

By ChrisAdvisor1981 |

We were staying close to the bar and stopped one night for a drink and a burger, both of which were really nice and tasted fresh, the bar staff were also very friendly, a great little bar to visit in the city

Good atmosphere

Didn't have a meal, but did have a really good time. Drink prices reasonable for New York.Staff and landlord really friendly. An absolute must for a stop off when sightseeing.

Wonderful surprise

By lcdajohannecortes |

We were on our way to another restaurant, but it was super cold and we decide to enter this one instead. What a pleasant surprise , great quality food, great prices. Attention was good , it’s an Irish restaurant . Give it a chance!

Food was good, but service could use improvement

By TXVicky |

My husband and I stopped in for lunch last week and stood for quite sometime before the bartender hollered for us to take any table. The hostess was no where to be found. After seating, we waited quite a while to get a menu and then longer to order drinks. The manager or owner came by and took our drink order and again wait was unreasonable. We ordered a bottle of wine and 2 waters. Finally we got the wine, but no water. After all this, we then looked over the menu and decided to share the BBQ pigwich sandwich. It came out fairly quickly compared to the drinks. Another person delivered it and we asked for an extra plate and he offered me an appetizer plate of which we already had 2 unused ones. I said not I need a regular size plate so he disappeared upstairs and came back with a normal plate. The sandwich was pretty tasty with crispy onion strings on it and with a side of good seasoned fries. The menu has a good variety and the atmosphere is typical Irish pub. If they could hire more waitstaff and maybe more experienced this place was be much better.
