This spot has a fantastic menu full of novel combinations. The flavors and textures of everything we ordered were awesome, from the bread basket with a sweet, chewy, but somehow still a little crusty exterior to the gorgeous and tasty mocktails. I also really liked the french toast. We also really liked our server. We were dining at a pretty leisurely pace and never felt rushed.

We were staying at the hotel across the street and decided to go and ask for something to bring back before the concert at MSG. Food was ok, nothing to go back for but not bad. Really BAD thing was the attitude of the short haired blond girl at the bar. Seems she cant work under pressure and it reflects in her attitude. Do yourselves a favor get her out so she wont ruin the dinning experience for other potential customers

Came here with friends for dinner. It was quite good, the Malaysian Fried Chicken especially, as were appetizers and the noodle dishes.

Food is excellent. Order the butter wings with gochujang sauce. The bartender is amazing and everything on the menu that we saw was perfect. It’s a small out-of-the-way place but wonderful when you get there. It’s one of those places that you say I wish I had Known about this place before I left New York. Give it a try, please.

I was there recently and got the best service ever from MaCallister (I hope I spelled her name right) . Sorry if I spelled it wrong but she was great and I'll definitely recommend your establishment to my friends. I'm visiting from Atlanta, GA and appreciate great service; your bartender was awesome!!!! Give her a raise A.S.A.P. And Chef Chris as well!!!! The food was great!!!! I'll definitely be back on my next visit. Thank them both for me.

Loud music on a bad stereo made this visit even worse together with average food. Nice and attentive staff didn’t make up for it. Might suit deaf people.

I made a reservation through Resy, thinking it would be needed but the place was empty, and now I know why. I got severe diarrhea from food contamination that lasted for 4 days. Not even in India have I had it this bad. I’m contemplating filing official complaint with the city ordinance because it’s completely unacceptable for such a restaurant to be serving contaminated food causing diarrhea to their customers.

Awesome venue for drinks, food or both. Epic art work all over the joint. Great music. Loved the GRIMM beer 🍺 Food delicious. Seamless staff. Just around the corner from Penn Station & Madison Square Garden. Highly recommend 5 Stars 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Ate here on a recent Saturday evening with my husband and it was DELICIOUS! Made the rez online which was quick & easy. We were seated right away towards the back of the restaurant which is the main dining room. There are front high tables once you enter, a long bar with tables opposite, then the back dining room and even a super large area past that which seems to be a more loungy cocktail chill area. The waiter was great & so was the support staff. The cocktails were great and the menu selection and food were top notch. Really a good selection of the vast different types of Asian cuisine all in one restaurant. I'd HIGHLY recommend dining here!

This Asian place offers a small menu which enables a group to taste most of the dishes. We did this and I was impressed with the quality of the food. Very tasty, often spicy. It is close and somewhat loud. We had the crudo, lumpia, curry puffs, cheong chee see ew and lamb rendang (really delicious).

My spouse and I visited Piggyback for dinner on a Saturday evening in mid-February 2020. Piggyback is open daily for dinner as well as for weekday lunch. Guests can book a spot using the online Open Table reservation system. Piggyback opened in January 2020 on West 30th Street between 7th and 6th Avenues in Midtown South/Chelsea/Koreatown, not far from Madison Square Garden. (We were attending a concert at MSG after our meal, and Piggyback provided a quality dining option nearby that accepted reservations.) Chef Leah Cohen and her husband Ben Byruch own Piggyback, along with older sister restaurant Pig & Khao on the Lower East Side (see our separate review from May 2017). Previous to December 2019, Piggback was located in Jersey City. Chef Cohen attended the CIA before working for renowned chefs like Daniel Humm at Eleven Madison Park and Anne Burrell at Centro Vinoteca before/between traveling extensively and working in both Italy and Southeast Asia (she is half-Filipino). Chef Cohen has competed in the Bravo TV show “Top Chef”. Piggyback occupies the street level of a dense row of buildings. The main dining space is long but narrow, with some tables near the front windows, a long L-shaped bar, a semi-open kitchen with tables adjacent (some of which share a banquette on one side), and additional stand-alone tables in the rear. Exposed brick walls, an antique tin ceiling, and Asian murals, newspapers, advertisements, and posters create interesting décor. Adjoining event space called the Wayback Bar adjoins the back of the Piggyback dining room. Piggyback serves Asian cuisine. We shared two dishes: the Okie Toast (shrimp, cabbage, fish flakes, and mayo atop thick softly toasted bread [similar to the texture of shrimp toast]) and the Choeng Chee See Ew (rolled rice noodles, egg, pork belly, bean sprouts). Piggyback has a full liquor license, so you can enjoy wine, beer (even some on draft), and cocktails. We enjoyed our dinner at Piggyback; the service, food, and atmosphere made for a pleasant experience.

A great, original restaurant! Very unexpected discovery. One of the top 10 meals I have ever eaten at a restaurant. Our waiter Ray was fabulous and guided us on portions and tastes of different dishes and foods. Everything served family style which was perfect, because you really want to try everything! We were 5 at our table and order 3 appetizers, 2 dishes from the rice and noodle section and 1 main with a side. We shared and loved it all! They adjusted our fried rice dish to exclude the Chinese Sausage and fixed beverages that weren’t on the menu. Highly recommend this restaurant!

I've tried Pig and Khao years ago and I remember liking it. So when my friend suggested Piggyback for dinner, I was excited to try it. We made a resso for an early Wednesday dinner at 5:30. We were hoping to make it in time for happy hour snacks, which is until 6 but found out that it's for the bar only (which was already packed at that time). Luckily, they still let us select from a few happy hour drink specials. I had the Make Me A Bicycle (vodka, aperol, thai chili, thai basil, lemon, prosecco, olives), which was pretty good, considering I don't like olives - but you don't really taste it. We also had a round of picklebacks because why not. The menu said 'sweet & spicy' but the brine was too sweet, and not for me. For food, we decided to order a bunch of things to share: -Lumpia Shanghai (beef and pork spring rolls, sweet chili sauce) - this was the best dish of the night. It came out piping hot and the filling was great -Beef Tartare (top sirloin, soy cured egg, crispy shallots, toasted baguette) - I usually love beef tartare but this one had a weird sweetness to it -Cha Ca La Vong (turmeric + lemongrass, salmon, rice noodles, peanuts, herbs, nuoc cham) - this was under the section 'Noodles + Rice', so I guess I was expecting it to be bigger but the portion was pretty small. It's more like an app. It was a small piece of salmon (maybe half a regular portion), and it was dry -Malaysian Fried Chicken (crispy chicken, sambal, pandesal, pickles, lemongrass & lime honey) - I liked the pickles (could have used more), and the sambal but that was about it. $34 for 4 pieces of chicken also seems pricey for dry chicken. You might be better off going to KFC or Popeye's and going to your local Asian grocery store to pick up some sambal to create this yourself at home -S'mores dessert w ice cream (I forgot what they called this) - wayyy too sweet for me Despite the underwhelming food, I must shout out the service and our waitress, Selina - who was amazing. She was just very cheery and helpful and made the experience better. She was knowledgable about the menu and helped us pick an app. I don't see myself coming back here unless I happened to be in the area, and it was happy hour - so that I could get the happy hour snacks.
Mother Daughter Dinner
First off... Raymond our Server was Fantastic (until it got busier and I think he then had his own section). He is what a Server should be. Specialty cocktail ok. Lumpia just ok. Crispy, but unable to id what was inside. Smashed Cucumbers were great. Nice to taste the Black Vinegar. Tuna Tarare was the highlight. Maybe, just maybe a touch of salt was needed, but the the tuna may have gotten lost. Fantastic regardless. Wings crispy, but needed more sauce. The sauce was actually awesome to dip the Piggy bread in! Pork Belly Ramen ok. Maybe do a Char Sui Pork Belly a la carte? The Server/Host? at the end who talked with us about the theater was also Wonderful. I wish I had asked for her name! I am looking forward to going back, if only for the Tuna!!
