Travelling alone in New York, I looked online for a quiet restaurant before going to a Broadway play. This is what the reviews suggested the Public House woudl be. Unfortunately, there was a party booking in the front bar area and the rear bar area, which drowned the dining room in drone of afterwork decompressors drinking beer and cocktails. The crowds impeded the waitstaff, slowing everything down. The food was good, if a modest portion for the price. I ate and exited, eschewing the offer to have one of the waiters clear me a path to the exit.

Last week my wife and I had a light lunch of mixed empanadas at this Theater district Irish pub inside the eponymous hotel. Our lunch was delicious and reasonably priced. The service from the young waitstaff was quite good. They offered several wines by the glass. This is a good place to have lunch before a show matinee, which is exactly why we were there. We had seen it written up in the New York Times Food section and it lived up to the billing.

So convenient to the Theater District and Times Square and yet quiet and cozy! My friends and I enjoyed a lovely lunch in the little dining room at the back that had a glass ceiling inviting a view of the outdoors. Our Irish servers were a delight--friendly and helpful. Our meals were delicious and ample servings--my Chicken Curry didn't sound to me like an Irish offering but I was assured that with the mild flavoring, it was indeed Irish! In any case, it was yummy down to the last bite. We shared a dessert of a tasty chocolate mousse concoction that I have to say was tiny! I'm taking note of this place for many return visits.

I loved everything we had at the Public House. Because we stayed in the hotel we ended up eating here about 4 times and truly everything was delicious. I particularly loved the crab cakes and the avocado toast but honestly I don't think you could go wrong with anything on the menu.

I had Irish shepherds pie that was home-made style and quality, delicious! The staff was really friendly and the service was very personalized.

We had breakfast and dinner here multiple days. Everything was off the charts!! Please do not go without trying the Avocado toast at breakfast! It's truly to die for!!

We had dinner and breakfast while we stayed at the hotel and we loved it both times. The atmosphere was very relaxed and welcoming. The food was delicious and the service was great. Highly recommended

You would not believe how good food - "restaurant" food can be until you visit this little piece of heaven. Kitchen closes around 9 pm so come earlier, particularly before a show. The bar spits out incredible drinks, and they can rock fish and chips like a boss. Anything on the menu is sure to please and actually enough food to share if you're on a diet... HAHAHAHAH! Why? Enjoy!

Delicious! The atmosphere is perfect for our small Christmas group We enjoyed the time together in this place. Yummy drinks and a lot of Christmas cheer!

Restaurant at the Merrion Hotel. Friendly and calm setting. Irish inspiration. Quality breakfast with various and copious dishes (pancake, bagel, eggs, French toast, avocado toast). a little more expensive than neighboring restaurants. More basic dinner with a slightly austere atmosphere in the evening when the restaurant empties after 9:30 p.m. good beers.

I loved it here. Food and staff great. Reasonable. Close to theater district, quiet, fast service. I'll be back

The restaurant offers a beautiful atmosphere, delicious food and awesome service- Shane is great!!!! The menu will suit all appetites.

I have been here a few times for a quick lunch with friends during the work day. It's a nice location just off Times Square, the room way in the back of the lobby has a sunlit atrium that is very pleasant to sit in. The food is pretty standard but well made. My friends and I usually have some variation on the Greek or Caesar or grain salad with shrimp or chicken or salmon on top. The portions are good, the added protein is always done right, and the service is always pleasant. And the price is pretty fair. You don't come here for gourmet but it is perfect for a work lunch or if you're a tourist in Times Square and want something close, relaxing and not like all the Irish pubs surrounding it.

Extremely impressed with the food, service and friendly atmosphere. I had the scallop & seafood risotto and my wife sampled several appetizers for her dinner. I highly recommend Merrion Public House! Great location for the theatre as well. We'll be back.
Fantastic good food, all our
Fantastic good food, all our servers were From Ireland, Hugh gave some great suggestions for a trip there and John gave excellent whisky suggestions. Linda was delightful, all were pleasant, quick and personable. We ate all our meals while in the city here, it was that good and diverse, Irish of course. Very highly recommend, a small, convenient undiscovered jewel!
