My friend booked this reservation based on something she had seen online and it didn’t disappoint. This was the best way to finish my 30th Birthday Celebrations! Over looking Times Square as well as being in a super comfortable environment. The staff are very attentive and are always happy to assist with photos or drinks. There is a light bites menu too should you want any snacks whilst in the bar. The R Lounge it quite the hidden gem it would seem :)

We had an excellent experience with Hiezur’s customer service. He provided us with outstanding attention and professionalism, ensuring we had everything we needed. My daughter and I had a wonderful time."

We had a nice table overlooking Times Square and enjoyed a drink and appetizer. Server was friendly.

We went here as wanted to have a nice meal while in New York & wanted “a view”. It wasn’t far from our hotel so we decided to make a online reservation. On arrival we were seated quickly, it was fairly empty, to my dismay we were sat in the middle of the room whilst there were at least 4 empty tables along the front overlooking Times Square - I’m not normally a forward person but I did ask if we could be moved, the lady serving us (who was lovely) said she would ask but the another lady came down and said no we couldn’t as they didn’t allow table hops! I said ok but wasn’t impressed but would never cause a fuss. We ordered food n drinks n just before our dinner came a lovely man, (I’m guessing the restaurant manager) came down and said he was was moving us to a better table if we would prefer. It made my night to be honest. We got seated right along the front overlooking the famous red steps. Food was nice, well presented, drinks were good & all at a reasonable price when you consider where you are.

Funky bar/restaurant with the best view of Time Square you can get. More of a lounge than restaurant. Limited menu with food served very fast and drinks very slow. Service was fair, but we were in rush since the view was so good.

We had just arrive in New York, so I got my first martini here! Watched all the lights in Times Square and it was a great introduction to the City.

We went here on valentines day and I couldn't have picked a better place to have a valentines dinner. The place was decorated beautifully and the backdrop was breathtaking. The staff were so professional. My boyfriend is coeliac and so wanted the burger on gluten free bread. The chef who was cooking his meal personally came out to our table to check what exactly his allergies were and assured him he would be cooking his meal. He then brought out his meal while our waiter brought out mine. The food itself was reasonably priced considering location and the fact the restaurant wasn't that big. Would highly recommend eating here.

Unfortunately can’t review the food as we left before ordering. We booked and requested a front window for our anniversary dinner while visiting from Australia. We visited last year and got lucky seated in a prime position and were hoping for the same but understanding it’s not guaranteed. Upon arrival the hostess was unwelcoming and we got the impression she would prefer a rectal examination rather than attending to us. A seat in the centre of the room was provided but we offered to wait until a better seat with a view became available so we waited in the bar. We were seated 15 minutes later at a side window, what was disappointing was that a better table became free within a minute of being seated which we asked our server if we could be moved too he advised that he would have to check with the manager/greeter while waiting for an answer we felt like we were rushed /pressured to order more drinks and food, we asked for some more time while waiting for an answer about moving but were advised we couldn’t move? The menu was underwhelming, limited and over priced, so we ended up leaving and finding something better value close by. This is a great location but could be so much better. Also worth noting as we left the manager/greeting lady was on her phone watching video clips and didn’t bother to acknowledge.

We were staying at the Renaissance and had food vouchers to the R Lounge. Service was really friendly and we were promptly seated both times we ate here (evening appetizers and drinks and breakfast). The views are absolutely incredible, it is like you are suspended above Times Square. Appetizers were very good, and prices were reasonable. We enjoyed a drink, flatbread, and satays. Breakfast was also good. They had a small buffet with eggs, bacon, sausage, and potatoes, also with pastries, yogurt, juice, and Starbucks. Compared to say the buffets at a Residence Inn, it was way better, as you would expect. We were very happy with the quality. My only negative comment is the temperature in the restaurant must be like 65 degrees--it was chilly! Bring a jacket!

This is a fabulous find in the middle of a crowded Times Square to get away from all the hustle and bustle and grab a nice bite to eat whilst watching people in the peace and quiet. Food was good and reasonably priced. Staff wonderful and helpful. Would highly recommend.

I loved the views the service and the cool style o the restaurant. It was not crowded at all and the food was not expensive. A place to respeat.

Very reasonably priced food and very good. Views are amazing as is the interior design. Favourite place.

The selection of food was exactly what I was looking for. Looking over Times Square was amazing. And Michael Porter was a very friendly and attentive associate in the restaurant!

Headed over here to take in Time Square at the same time have bite. The view of the whole square in the evening is something else. Haven't seen a sea of people like that, even in Vegas. The restaurant is worth the view. Service wise is another story. Unenthusiastic servers. Took them a while to take our order. Nothing out of the ordinary. Could get better customer service. Food was good. We had the steak and salmon. We thought the portions would be fine dining, but they we're actually quite decent portions for the cost.

Beautiful view of time square and a nice setting. Only thing lets it down is that the service needs to be more attentive and friendlier at these prices, regardless of the view

We had a reservation, bit waited a long time to be seated, and we were extremely disappointed with a minimal menu. We were hungry and the best option on the menu was a cheeseburger with chips for $27. The waiter didn't ask us how the hamburger to be cooked- well done, etc. Of course, it didn't taste like ground beef at all. It was more like a thin slice of… bologna, and the chip were burnt. We could have had a better burger at McDonalds. And the bill ended up with a $15 service charge plus gratuity.

The ONLY plus is the view of Times Square but you see the same exact thing standing in the street. Food is mediocre and service was horrible. Servers were short and rude. Manager was more helpful after we complained about our food. All to say…don’t waste your time.

What a view over time square - we were lucky enough to get a window seat and it was great to eat and take in the views over time square. Food was good, although a little pricey for what it was - but you are paying for the views and experience. Service was great and all staff very friendly. I was a bit worried given some of the reviews - but so glad We went.

Came here after a show to relax and absorb the ambience. The lounge provides a great vantage point over Times Square. Wine and cocktail selection was solid. Staff was attentive. Funky vibe.

My mom and I have been coming to this place for years as it has been multiple different restaurants. The views here are great and we always enjoy it. The problem this time was that we had a reservation (for like a month), in which we requested a window, and ended up waiting 1/2 hour for a table anyway. What was frustrating about this is they kept saying that they were working on it and trying to find us a window table (to be fair we could have not had a window and sat right away, but you don't come here to not sit by the window). They made it seem like they were working super hard to get our table, and then the place totally emptied out because other people were going to shows, so basically they just knew they'd be able to get us at a table at that time anyway. And even after that, the service was just okay. Will still come back, will just be prepared to wait even with a reservation.

Just the two of us, wanted a nice dinner with a view. Great view, but the staff barely acknowledged us. Took over 10 minutes for anyone to even come to our table, which only happed because we flagged someone down. Got our drinks finally then waited another 20 to be asked if we wanted food. We didn't bother, we just paid and left to go elsewhere. Ruined our night.

I was staying at W times square so its just next to my hotel, the view from the lounge was too good...the food was decent but not grt...

I was here years ago when it was a fine dining restaurant. It was remodeled into a lounge that offers a limited meal menu. Yes, it is a million dollar view of Times Square and worth a visit. Food was good and it is nice to sit with a glass of wine while people watching.

What a disappointment! Booked this place months in advance as it was our anniversary and first time in New York. What drew us to this restaurant was the people watching and the amazing view. Well we get there and unfortunately all they had was a spot facing the side of time square and construction. The hostess was nice and the place looked great which is why it got two stars, but that’s about it. Overall food and wine was a HUGE disappointment, service was terrible the only time he paid attention to us was when my husband was signing the tip of the bill. Tip ask for a window seat facing the stairs of time square and maybe go for drink and dessert if you like the view but seriously way better places than this one

What a find!! We were looking for an early dinner before a play and found this!! Great view overlooking Times Square, excellent food, reasonable prices, what more could you ask for? Serving staff was fantastic!!

This place was fantastic! Small menu but great food. And you can’t get a better front row seat to the lights of Time Square. Food was delivered fast and pipping hot. Good quality and nice presentation. The DJ played a good selection of music. Place was a little loud but it’s Time Square!! Highly recommend trying this Establishment out

the view was just as amazing as the servers. Our waiter went above and beyond and made it such a fantastic experience, we did not feel rushed at all. we happened to get a table by the window, if you want to have a great meal and watch the happenings in Times Square, this is the place to go. we will be back.

When your senses marvel at the colorful display of lights, feel the city vibe, listen to amazing sounds, palatable dishes and smell the adventures the city has to offer within 4 glass walls - that has to be the R Lounge! I was overwhelmed to experience everything from my seat minus the gamut of tourists. It was serene at the same time exciting. What a way to enjoy a young night in the city that never sleeps.

Great view but limited selection on their menu. Perfect place to celebrate New Year’s eve count down.

Great view, awful service!!!! Staff not interested at all in their guests. Make you feel like you’re bothering them. The only plus is the view.

Awesome view of times square. Fantastic. Ask for a window seat. Hostess not overly friendly. Maybe 6 families in the place. Long time to take our orders of 2 apps, 2 burgers and 1 grilled cheese. An additional 30 more minutes for food and drink refills to come. The sandwiches came out and they said the appetizers would be coming. Never did. They charged for them though and we had to ask for them to be taken off the bill. And, they marked us as a no show for the reservation. The view is really good though!

The view and our server were great - HOWEVER *** LOOK AT YOUR REVIEWS FOOD IS SUB-PAR** Multiple reviews on open table say the same thing Stale Chips - no fresh guacamole Its a store-bought pre-made? for a hotel restaurant in Times Square and for prices charged food should be way way better - you are paying simply for the view of Times Square and average drinks do not go for food there are tons of better locations nearby

We had a reservation at 7pm on Saturday, Nov 9 for a party of 2. We had a short wait and were seated. We immediately noticed a table being vacated next to the window overlooking Times Square. One of us went back to the check in stand and requested to be moved to that table. The hostess said ‘I’ll think about it and let you know; everyone wants that table.’ Within 2 minutes they sat another couple that had come in after us at the table we had requested. We immediately left. In hindsight, maybe the hostess was looking for a payoff for that table.

I went for breakfast while staying on site. Awesome view of Times Square. Breakfast was free for me as a Platinum Member, which was an added perk.

Turned up tonight for a booking made online a coupe of weeks ago for husbands 50th birthday. All dressed up and excited to be there for a once in a lifetime experience only to be turned away as they’d cancelled our booking a week earlier without telling us all so they could hold a private function. Man who told us wasn’t even apologetic - just shrugged his shoulders! Other staff tried to guide us to other venues but by that stage we were so disappointed at being let down we just went back to the hotel. Terribly disappointed as had travelled from London and was so looking forward to a special evening.

R Lounge was the most amazing Pinterest discovery and it exceeded all our expectations. We made a reservation for my friends 30th Birthday via OpenTable a few weeks in advance and booked for 11pm in the hope it wouldn't be too busy. Much to our surprise we had a window seat with the full view of Times Square. Wow! We most certainly did not expect that especially as we had not sent in any special requests. Staff at R Lounge were really friendly and attentive, there was a large selection of drinks available and a few light bites on the menu. Overall, for what we paid I was pleasantly surprised with the bill. I certainly expected to pay a lot higher considering the bar's location.

Michael P was the best server we had in NY. He was attentive and welcoming. He made us feel comfortable. Friday night we ate later in the evening in the R Lounge and the waiter did not even stop to greet us. So we didn’t have high hopes of service after that experience but Michael redeemed it for them all. Mohammed was also a great host. Both of them should be recognized for their level of service.

The food was excellent, the service excellent, the view was such an incredible experience. It was like sitting in a Times Square fish bowl of all the amazing signs and the sheer number of people on the streets. This is probably one of the best kept secrets in New York.

Great view; convenient if you stay at the hotel. Cool furniture, but the room and bar could use some rugs or something to make it feel less cold and sterile.

Times Square was obviously crowded on a Summer Friday Night. However this hidden in plain sight restaurant is amazing. Without a doubt, the best view of Times Square far away from the hectic street. The service was great by our waitress. To find it look for the big “R” in the street and go to the first floor in the right corner elevators.

The R Lounge is a must go for its views of Times Square. The food and drink was good too, but its views alone are worth going for. I’d love to return.

The hostess was so nice, almost too nice! We had 5:30 p.m. reservations, but we had to wait about 10 minutes, which was fine with us, but she apologized over and over. I was a little disappointed when I saw the menu as it was different from the one I saw online, and I had already picked out my favorites. But we went with the flow, and were happy with the new choices. We ordered 2 apps and a dinner, wanted to split them all, so when the dinner came very soon after the apps, we were not upset. If you like to wait in between courses, you might want to mention that to your server. Wait staff was very efficient, always clearing dirty dishes and glasses.

Pretty good small plates, but a limited selection of food and a smaller than expected selection at the bar. However, the food was prepared well (grown up grilled cheese and soup), they had a decent bourbon (Knobb Creek small batch) and the service was good. What makes the place is the panoramic view over times square.

We were disappointed with our recent visit here. Ok, so the view is fantastic for people watching and watching the drama unfold on Times Square, but that’s only if you can get a window seat (which we managed to do eventually, but not before a very lengthy wait in mid-afternoon). We arrived back for an evening meal that day (Saturday) having seen the impressive menu but we were disappointed in what we got. It was over-hyped, tasted mediocre and got cold very quickly. The older male waiters were not attentive at all. They looked like they’d had enough. Our particular server just slammed our food down, turned and walked away. He only came back when we asked for the cheque, trying to get his attention on numerous occasions. Worth a visit? Only for the view and if youve hours to spare, not for a good meal! Sorry!!!

Hidden in plain sight, essentially right at the top of the red stairs by the TKTS booth. It's a place you wouldn't notice unless you knew it was there. The view is the best for people watching in Times Square and the staff is friendly and welcoming.

We visited for our wedding anniversary evening. The views were great and the atmosphere of the place is lovely however, the service is something that needs to be improved. The front of house was miserable when we arrived, it took 30 minutes to order our food and drinks and then when I asked the waiter for no spicy mustard - he said it will come in a pot on the side, I said this was fine. My hotdog turned up and spicy mustard was all over it so the waiter had not put my request in. My wife had finished eating and I hadn’t but the waiter took her plate whilst I was still eating which made it all feel rushed. At the end we got our bill, left gratitude (not a lot due to poor service) and then as we were leaving the waiter caught up with us to say we hadn’t left enough!!!! However, this doesn’t take away from the great views and atmosphere of this place!

We visited here for business recently. It is located directly in Times Square behind the Coca Cola sign. The view is incredible overlooking the Square. Drink selection and atmosphere was great. We got food as well. It was really good, nothing that was over the top amazing or special, but very good quality and service. The location and atmosphere put it over the top.

Made reservations for our large family (13 of us) for the first night of our NYC vacation... thought it would be a great way to let the kids see the hustle and bustle of Times Square from above before heading down into it! I was a little nervous about our group, as we had adults, small kids, and teens, but the staff handled it with ease, never missing a beat. The kids (especially the teens) had a blast taking pics and Snapchatting the incredible view to their friends.... mama win. 😉 The cocktails were amazing, as you would expect. The food was outstanding as well, everything from juicy burgers to fancy charcuterie trays. Everyone enjoyed it, and I would definitely return! Now, if I could only get a table here for New Year’s Eve....

The title sums up my impression of R Lounge. It's literally perched above the energy and chaos of Time Square. Nice selection of unique cocktails and decent selection of menu items to eat. The burgers are quite good. But, given all the excellent dining options in the theater district, one doesn't go to the R Lounge for Michelin star dining. You go to R Lounge for the fantastic views and the cool atmosphere. Wait staff is incredibly busy, but very attentive. Recommend you make a reservation if you want to secure a window seat. I did and we were seated promptly with a killer view. Definitely worth it.

Love to make a reservation on open table and pop in here for a quick drink or light bite. Its small inside but I've never had trouble getting in. It is dimly lit with comfortable seating and 3 glass window wall views of times square. Great for everyone of all ages.

A real experience overlooking the hustle and bustle of Times Square! We had the table directly overlooking the square. Food very good and reasonably priced for where we were. Staff excellent especially Marlene who was both friendly and informative. It was my daughter-in-laws birthday and my son had told the staff and she was bought her dessert with a candle! Nice touch! I would certainly recommend this restaurant for an unforgettable experience when visiting New York!

Friends who know Times Square well took us here and wow, what a discovery. If you've been to Times Square, you know practically every place is loud, crowded and touristy. R Lounge is a quiet haven away from the hustle and bustle, but with a view overlooking the madness so you can see it without being in it. What a tranquil, delightful place. And the prices for the food are a really great value. Plus, we had the nicest server who did not rush us and was very sweet. I would totally come back and make this a meeting place for friends.

Always try to stop here for a drink/snack when in NYC. The view of Times Square is outstanding. Otherwise, drinks are decent and it's not insanely priced, given the view. You are unlikely to find a better spot to get away from the madness of Times Square but also enjoy the spectacle. The House Made Kettle chips for .99 is quite the steal and the plantains were suprisingly good too. Don't fret the Times Square pricing and stop in here around dusk to enjoy a drink and watch the transition from daytime to evening (still bright as hell) in Times Square!

Food is just ok here and service is so so. Drinks are good and the view of Times Square is outstanding so definitely get a window seat if you can. Definitely try the homemade potato chips to start...tasty and a bargain. The rest of the food is fine...nothing fabulous but ok.

Been trying to book a table here for over two months, they don’t appear to have an email address so I’ve had to phone from the uk, staying up late due to the time difference and costing me a small fortune. I’ve phoned at least ten times and still haven’t managed to get a booking. The first time I was told I was too early to book and to phone back the week that I would like the booking, I explained it was for a table of 14 and for our wedding meal so I didn’t feel comfortable leaving it that late. I noticed online that tables of up to 4 were able to book a month in advance so I phoned again. In the following phone calls, when their phone was actually turned on during opening hours and not on voicemail (also left my details several times on voicemail for someone to get back to me with no reply) I was told I had to speak to the manager to book a table but they didn’t know where she was, another phone call I did get to speak to a manager who told me their system was down but took my details and she would email me the next day…still waiting 3 weeks later. And now I’ve phoned a week before the date and guess what they’ve no space!! And now our choices are limited because I’ve wasted my time on this poorly managed venue!! Annoyed at myself for putting my time into it but it looks so nice but even more annoyed at the total disregard of someone’s wedding day plans. If this is what it’s like trying to get booked I can’t imagine the customer service inside is much better.

This restaurant is unbelievably worth every dollar. First, the views are stunning. You can see all of Times Square rushing below you as you're sitting above in such a peaceful atmosphere. The decor inside is classy and the chairs are comfy. Our waiter was very kind and friendly, gave us quick service, and left us alone to enjoy our meal like how it should be. The food was to die for, we got the pretzel sticks, 99 cent homemade potato chips, and a pizza. We also got wine, bloody Mary, and beers. Our bill was only around $90 USD which is reasonable considering the location, service, quality of food, and how much we ordered. If I ever come back to NYC I am 100% coming back here, I would 10/10 recommend coming here!

Having been at the Renaissance before, I knew about the lounge. When every venue nearby was packed, I decided to go there for a light bite dinner. Frankly, I didn't find the options very appealing (too fru-fru); so, I had a burger. It was good and properly prepared. The view of Times Square made for great people watching, especially as the night life started to stir.

We stopped in to grab a cocktail, relax, and check out the view. Reservations are highly recommended as we were not able to get a table on short notice. Definitely check it out!

We stayed at the Renaissance hotel for several days. We went to the lounge a few times to unwind. One night we had reservations in the restaurant. We were lucky enough to have a front window view. Absolutely beautiful to see the view of Times Square from above and in the evening.

Great view. Good Drinks. Good food. Absolutely terrible service. Stayed in hotel so this was convenient. The first night showed up and was seated on a side. Only about half full. Nice view but not great. Server acted like he didn't want us to bother him. Waited close to 45 minutes just to get our drinks and an appetizer. Thinking this was a fluke experience, went back a second night. Less than half full. Host said we could sit at any table on the side. Asked if we could sit at one of the tables along the front windows. He looked at us and just walked away. Not a word, just left. Another gentleman approached us and we restated our request. He said they only seat parties of four at those tables. When I pointed out no one was at those tables and no on was waiting to come in, he sat us at one. I tipped him 20 bucks for the claimed excepion. Again we waited. It took the our server over 20 minutes to even acknowledge we were there. At about the one hour mark finally got our drinks and appetizer. More frustrating is that during our time there, we watched the same host seat two other parties of two at the same tables he said was restricted to parties of four. Enough. Hotel credit or not, this place is not worth going to. We never tried a meal here due to the already bad experiecce. No effort from staff at all.

Great place to eat or drink if visiting New York or for a special event. You do have to book. Food was fantastic, wine very good, views and atmosphere excellent.

The R lounge is a wonderful find for any nyc visitor. R lounge has floor to ceiling windows on 3 sides overlooking Times Square. The food and service are also great.

This Restaurant is located on the Times Square heart, great food, great view, great beverages and service!

Sat by the window, lovely views down Times Square, especially at dusk, the staff were ok, not in your face but attentive enough, food menu very limited and along with drinks was quite pricey. You are paying for the view so remember that, and not a nice night out

Arrived at night for a NYC visit. Just wanted a drink and a bite. This place was perfect. Terrific view looking out on to Times Square. My Manhattan hit the spot after a long day on the plane. The strawberry salad was excellent, with fresh greens and tasty ripe strawberries. Ask for Sylvia. She was our gracious; friendly, professional server. Sat at a table that goes for &18,000 on New Years Eve. Wow!

Stayed at the Renaissance and grabbed dinner at RL after a show. The hostess was super nice and accommodating, telling us it would be a short wait and keeping us informed. The wraparound view of Times Square was really cool and the service was prompt and attentive. The menu had good variety and was tasty. I really enjoyed the whole experience.

Good for out of town business guests new to the city. They much preferred this place over the lounge at the Marquis which had a tacky and terrible "singer" performing. She was tone deaf but kept making faces like she was Celine Dion. One would expect better in NYC. Service is better here too

The food was average, but you can’t beat the view of Times Square. It’s wonderful to sit and take in the sights without rubbing elbows with thousands of people. Service was okay, we listed it was our anniversary on the reservation but there was no acknowledgment for that. Service on par for a hotel bar.

Last minute reservations were made and I brought 6 ladies here for dinner. The views from the dining room are spectacular. R Lounge comfortably immersed us in Times Square while providing excellent dinner service and delicious food. Everyone was very impressed! Thank you R Lounge. Wish I could be in your dining room on NYE!

This place was recommended by a friend and decided to make reservations during my stay during Labor Day weekend. My son and I arrived after a long day at the U.S. Open and were promptly escorted to a window overlooking Times Square. The view was even better than expected, the food was reasonably priced and very good and the service was excellent. We never felt rushed and were allowed to relax and enjoy the awesome view. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good value in a prime location.

I went here for dinner before a broadway show. For apps we got the hummus and cheese plate. Both excellent. I had the grilled cheese, my mom had the lamb and my grandmother had the filet. All amazing. The service was great too. The view was over Times Square!

My sisters and I started our weekend in NYC with food and drinks at R Lounge and it did not disappoint! The food was beautiful and delicious; the atmosphere was magical...just what one hopes for when visiting NYC! The views from R Lounge simply can't be beat! I must give additional compliments to the staff members who aided me in retrieving my fur hat from another patron who decided it should be hers. Some people never fail to shock me, but the staff handled the situation swiftly and professionally while ensuring that I felt safe to return to my table and enjoy the rest of my evening. Thank you!

We got a same day reservation - great table and even better view. Good food, service, and drinks for pre-theater!

Booked this restaurant well in advance for a Tuesday night based on reviews here, this is the best way to see Times Square without getting trampled! The restaurant is actually quite small and part of the Renaissance Hotel in Times Square. We requested a window seat in advance and the view was amazing. The food was really good, sure it’s Times Square prices, but a a great experience.

Michael P. was an excellent server. Very attentive and helpful each morning. My family and I enjoyed the experience and will be back soon.

Perfectly placed in the middle of Time Square, food was excellent and ambiance was on point. This is a well kept secret of a view in Time Square....

Our daughter booked this as a treat and what a treat it was! This bar has the most amazing view of Times Square -apparently it costs $20,000 to book a table on New Years Eve!! Great choice of cocktails and food! The service was excellent and we enjoyed the experience immensely. I would recommend booking to ensure a table as it was quite busy.

My $16 pizza was tasty but underwhelming. It was more of a small flatbread than a pizza. Definitely overpriced.

Quite a disappointing experience. Food was lovely but the front of house wasn’t. I had booked the meal for my boyfriend’s 21st birthday weeks before and specified on the booking what the occasion was. When we arrived the lady at the front told us there was a wait and to go and sit at the bar. However, it then reached 20:30 when the original booking was at 20:00 and we noticed people just walking in and sitting at tables for 2 and big groups also walking in. When I went back up I asked how long it would be as she said she would come and collect us when there was a table ready. There was no apology for the wait and she didn’t seem to know we had been up before, there was just a snappy ‘well loads of people have just left so you have to be patient’ but we went and got seated straight away. She then told us that we couldn’t just have the drinks we had bought at the bar for the meal we had to buy another round. I quickly felt like they only care about money and not the customer experience. The male waiters were lovely but it seemed as though no one was aware that it was my boyfriend’s 21st eventhough I had said on the booking. In the end, I showed a waiter my message on the booking and he brought out some ice cream with a candle (which was lovely of him), but when the next dessert came out with a candle for someone else’s birthday happy birthday music was played and everyone was clapping for them. No one sang for Lewis or said happy birthday he just blew out a candle and that was it, but it seemed a completely different experience for the other table where the waiter was joining in with them and making it special. It just kind of made us feel like they didn’t care about us as they would go out of their way and make someone else’s birthday special but not Lewis’ 21st. I spent weeks trying to figure out the best place to book a meal and ultimately was left completely disappointed by the entire experience. Lewis didn’t want me to mention to them it was his birthday as he felt awkward by the woman snapping at us earlier as she made him feel like we were in the way. We came all the way to New York from the UK for him to have an amazing birthday and was just left disappointed by the R Lounge. When we left no one even acknowledged us or said goodbye. We work in hospitality and know that you always go out of your way to said goodbye to someone but we just walked past and the woman at the front desk just kept her head down when we tried to make eye contact. Though the food was lovely, the portions are also very small compared to the price. I wasn’t full by the end of my meal and had to order some chips as well. However, the reason I’ve rated 3 stars instead of 2 was because the ice cream was on the house which we really appreciated. If we return to New York again we will never return to the R Lounge and won’t recommend it to anyone else for the reasons listed above. I’ve never wrote a negative review about anywhere before. I never even write reviews, but I don’t want other people to have the same experience as us and I think the staff (especially the front of house woman who I’m assuming is the manager) need to have some training in customer service.

Due to location and view over Times Sauare this venue is well worth a visit particularly as it serves good food and an ample drinks selection.Fair to say however it's not cheap so be prepared to pay.Book ahead and request a window table over looking the Square.Enjoy as you can then remove this from your bucket list.

It is like being in the middle of everything without being in the crowd of everything. Medium size lounge with spectacular views of Times Square. Stepped into the renaissance hotel and the security guard while on the phone pointed to the elevator and lowered his eyes down at me. I got there early because of I had a party that increased in size so I wanted to make sure it was taken care of. The doors opened exactly at 5p while the wait staff was still cleaning the place. Hostess provided instructions to the people in line and then directed me to my table. The tables I was seated would not fit my party. The hostess insisted that it would. I didn’t want to let her know that my people were not skinny. After 8 minutes, my party arrived and she clearly saw that it was impossible. I spoke to the manager to change my table for the middle section. He was apprehensive but once I showed them That I called twice and came in early then it was a no brained. My waiter was slow and couldn’t keep up. I ordered food as soon as I’ve arrived. It too 1/2 hour to bring the food and he took 20 minutes to take our drink order after we changed tables. No bus person or manager seemed to be able to lend him a hand and expedite our food and drink orders. The menu doesn’t cater to appetizers or a lot of shareable items. Not gluten free or vegan items either. We were done after 2 1/2 hours. It was nice but it could have been better.

I hope I don’t regret writing a great review of this place...I live in NYC, and I love coming here, and I like that it’s still kind of a secret. First of all, inside the Renaissance Hotel but still available to the public, these are the cleanest, nicest restrooms in Times Square. Also, the view overlooking the Times Square nonsense is lovely. We usually come a bit later in the evening, usually for a drink or snack after a show, and we’ve always been able to walk right in and get a table. The food is good, and I’ve had the same attentive, friendly server every time. It is a bit pricey, but it’s not any more expensive than any other place in the heart of one of the most photographed places in the world! It is also comfortable, quiet, and intimate—perfect for a date. The only down side is that they close at midnight, even on weekends—it probably has something to do with hotel or union rules. It is always such a nice experience that it is disappointing to have to leave...

Every time I go to NY I have to visit this place. I love the food, the view of the Times Square. The staff is very nice and friendly. I love this place very much!!

Visited the R lounge and ate here. The food is ok and staff are ok. The views of Time Square are great and really the draw. What was nice that the executive chef came over to each table to ask how the new menu was fairing-good touch, personable guy. The waiter was a bit confused with life and brought our starter and main courses together which was a bit frustrating but all in all an ok place to eat.

I will be strongly recommending this place to anyone I know taking a trip to Manhattan! This place would deserve a 5 just for the ambiance. I reserved a table online and requested a window table. My party of 4 was seated in the center next to the window. We all ordered different entrees and all were delicious! Great way to experience Times Square!

We didn't eat there, just stopped by for a drink and of you. We got that for sure. I think we got lucky by getting in without a reservation. If you are planning on stopping by I would definitely encourage you to reserve the table ahead of time. So far this is my favorite view of Times Square from a bar while having a drink. This is inside the Renaissance Times Square Hotel on the third floor. The chips are really good and cheap. The drinks are a little on the price your side but then again you get a nice view so it's worth it.

Service was slow but this was a beautiful place to have drinks and dinner. Not many choices on the menu and a little pricey but the view is worth every penny

Escape the crowds and enter this hip, hotel second floor lounge overlooking all the craziness of Times Square. Kim Crawford Sauvingnon Blanc is crisp and fruity.

The lounge is only open evenings and offers quick bites to eat. It has the best views of Times Square from your table. You won’t be disappointed.

We ate here a couple of times while staying at the Renaissance. The food and drinks were very good! Can't beat the view of Times Square! Highly recommend.

R Lounge has a nice vibe and a great view of Times Square. I would definitely recommend. The experience was even better because of our server Michael Porter! Shoutout to him! Super friendly and accommodating. I’ll definitely be back.

Perfect place to enjoy the view of Times Square. The place is beautiful and quiet. However, the prices of the dishes in terms of their quality is too high. If I'd known, we'd only have gone for a drink.

Perfect view of Times Square. We visited for an evening meal, three teenagers and parents, got great seats at the window. The waiter recommended Shirley Temple drinks for the kids and adults had a beer. Food was snack type bar food and we were happy with that, not very big portions but enough for us.. Overall we enjoyed our visit, Really you come here for the view. For Manhattan it was average prices.. $10 for a can of IPA.. about $20 for a cheese and ham toastie..

You cannot find a better view on Times Square. Even the restaurant is not at a high level, you have an incredible view... if you are lucky to have a room close to the window as I had. VEry nice lounge ambiance. Now the restaurant: even if the service is good, the price are really expensive compared to the quantity you have to eat... When I was there, there was not so many people in the restaurant. However it was difficult to ear discussions because of the loud music (playlist was very good but too loud for me).

This place is Gorgeous!! The views are spectacular. The staff, vibe, food everything was Top Tier. Definitely one of my top 3 places in Times Square to vibe and eat on every trip to NY!!!

It was a last night in NYC and booked the R Lounge (they are a part of the Marriott group) was recommended this place for its views overlooking Times Square! I had reserved the place & made sure was there on time. First disappointing was the table I had requested for wasn’t allotted. And I had to convince the waiter to allot the table I asked for. He finally gave it (this was the same guy who served us) We ordered drinks and the a starter dish as we wanted to enjoy some drinks ahead of proper dinner (usual) he got us our dish which had excess salt. We kept looking for the waiter but couldn’t spot him so reported it to the other waiter. He said he’ll look into it and then our waiter turned up stating nothing can be done about the dish as it’s just that way where as the other waiter was trying to say we will get the chef to check it. The waiters name was muza or something. And the other guy rashid was trying to help. We didn’t like the way he dealt with it so we decided to leave the place however there was an event at Times Square so waited back just to see it. The waiter literally came up to us and said will you guys order or pay the bill literally. I told him give me a moment as we were watching the event.. he said (doesn’t allow me to write it here) ! Literally meant LIKE WHATS WRONG WITH THESE GUYS and left! The event got done we reported this to the management and left! I asked for details to write to the management however they said open table and trip advisor was the only way to report them. She didn’t charge us for the drinks. We left poor due to poor service and disheartened!

Amazing view (if you get the right table). Food was average (burger and potato "chips" not fries, and wife has salad). Staff seemed either miserable or tired, with the only saving grace being a water called Jorge, who served and moved us to a better table. He was superb and we would have probably left the restaurant if it was not for him ans his efforts. The previous waiter actually banged the water glasses on the table!

Had a number of items there (stayed in the renaissance). Everything was tasty and good - Chicken panini, cheeseburger, wings, chicken satay

Had snacks one afternoon and breakfast one morning. Great view of Times Square and food was good. Service ok.

Lovely lounge at the Renaissance Hitel. Array of seating areas and nicely uplit and inviting bar. The dining area is wall to wall windows that overlook Times Square. The views are incredible. The only downfall was the service. The bartender was not friendly and the drinks we ordered were a terrible pour. 18 bucks for a glass of juice. For that reason, we will not go back.

We stumbled upon this restaurant/lounge and are so glad we did. Most nice views of the city are very high up, but this one was a great view of Times Square without having to go so high up. Great location. We ordered drinks that were reasonably priced for this area and compared to other places. Caesar salad was DELICIOUS and the panini was good too. Definitely will come back again next time we visit!

The view is 5 stars. The service is 5 stars. The food is 3.5 stars (burgers and grilled cheese). Surprisingly there were very few people here when we visited so it was peaceful despite the excitement outside.

We booked the R Lounge, for a friends 50th birthday, via the hotel website. The booking process was excellent and easy. We requested a window table for nine people, knowing that it might not be possible, however when we arrived, not only did we have a window table, we had THE window table, with a fantastic view down Times Square. The food was superb and all the staff were polite and friendly. Our friend stated that it was a birthday that she would never forget, special thanks to Michelle, who I was in email contact with and handled our booking

This is a wonderful place to have a drink overlooking the hustle and bustle of Times Square. They have 99 cent potato chips that are great. But the service both times we went was horrible. We had a man waiter that was not friendly at all and they ran out of ingredients on my favorite drink. I feel like we were an inconvenience to him and we had to ask someone to flag him down every time we needed something. He was never around! I am usually not that picky about service but this put a damper on our night that should have been special and exciting. The only reason we went back was because of a $30 hotel Credit.

Came here with my husband while visiting NYC and looking for some places to relax and have some drinks with nice views. Came across this place and we loved it. Drinks were nice, the view was great overlooking Times Square and the staff friendly. We had one of the flatbreads as an appetizer and it was really tasty. Atmosphere was comfortable welcoming and relaxing and had a classy vibe. We will definitely be back!

Best Time Square view, but restaurant does not have a Renaissance style. We did not understand so few people until the service began. Not kind, slow, hot wine… So we understood why it was not full. Ok, it sells itself, photos were great, but just it.

This was an amazing experience! Mike was phenomenal. He suggestions, his service, and friendliness made our visit wonderful. Highly recommended you visit.

best view of times square and best service the food here is also delicious it is a sort of fast eatery and the lounge is great

Best view of Times Square hands down. I love this place. It’s such an exciting place to be. The restaurant isn’t over the top, but the food is good and interesting and the view is great. I can’t believe it isn’t packed at all times. I think it’s our secret spot. The value for cost is also good, imo.

We actually had plans to go elsewhere but when our plans fell through, we decided to come here and we were so glad we did! Firstly both Michael and Marlene are absolute stars! Best customer service we received the whole time we were in New York. Friendly, bubbly, informative - Michael went the extra mile to base us on a nicer table and was a delight to be served by. We were only supposed to stay for a quick bite, we ended up staying for 3 courses and lots of cocktails. And it goes without saying.. The view is magnificent. What a better way to see times square than in the cold! Prices were very reasonable as well considering location.

R Lounge is a fantastic spot for cocktails and breathtaking city views! The atmosphere is stylish and inviting, making it perfect for a night out. The drink menu is diverse, and the bartenders are skilled and friendly. I enjoyed the live music that added to the ambiance. A must-visit in NYC!

Beautiful lounge with comfortable searing overlooking Times Square. Cocktails were delicious and atmosphere relaxed and friendly. Charming place to people watch!!

WOW what a view! It was a great spot in the morning to have breakfast and watch the city get moving. In the evenings the atmosphere changed and the crowds in time square grew. Best view around!

We made the reservation at a privileged table, with a view to Times Square and we were treated exceptionally well.

I know that the expectations of Hotel lounges should be kept at a minimum, but for a hotel lounge in the heart of Times Square you need to deliver a certain level of quality and service. We checked in on Saturday and went to the lounge to get a drink before heading off to dinner. We get there to find out that the lounge is closed from 4:00 to 9:00 for a private party and the only area open is the bar section which is by the elevators. That area can handle maybe 25-30 people at best and is not giving you the feel of a night in the city. The lounge itself overlooks Times Square with floor to ceiling windows on three sides. So we deal with it and have a couple of drinks and a small rustic pizza which was actually pretty good. It was a rainy night, so rather than wander around Manhattan after dinner, we go back to the hotel and decide to try the lounge again. It was open and crowded as expected. There was a table for 2 by a window, but we were told that was “reserved” which is a bit odd for this type of lounge, but no problem we sit at a small table in the middle of the lounge. We then see an older woman with a cane sit at the table, which made us feel better thinking they held a table for this woman. But no. A few minutes later a host walks over with a young couple and makes the woman get up and go stand on the side while she seats the young couple. It seems that the woman didn’t know the table was reserved and just went and sat down. Now what bothers me is that the host could have come over and explained the situation with the woman without having the couple standing there and making it ver awkward for the people around this. The other annoying issue was that a few minutes later a hotel manager or someone at that level in the Hotel came over to visit and clearly this was a who you know case. While I’m not blind and realize that “who you know” stuff happens all the time, especially in NY, the way they handled this situation with an older woman who needed a cane to walk was wrong.

Went as a part of 9, the view is stunning. Food was average, service slow and items forgotten. Mentioned to the manager who didn't seem to be that interested, followed up with an email that has not been responded to. Worth a quick drink there but don't bother with anything else.

We had booked a reservation, great position on Times Square! Drinks were average price - bill for two drinks (wine& beer) came to $22ish. Waiter initially brought over two wrong drinks.. We had booked for 5pm and had been out all day so decided to leave after a quick drink. We left $1.80 tip due to our lack of extra dollars and change but didn't think anything of it as we had only been 20 mins and 2 drinks. Got up to leave, waiter chased after us muttering and gave us back the tip. Found the whole situation very rude and doubt the bar is keen for that sort of behaviour. Had we eaten and drank more, the waiter engaged we would have been happy to tip a lot more as is our nature. To be give back free money seems so rude. Ruined the location really. If you want a view over Times Square but be prepared for nonchalant service.

Recently had dinner in the bar with a co-worker. The service was excellent, as were the margaritas and burgers. Exceeded our expectations given it is a hotel restaurant.

Michael made us feel right at home! He was a wonderful server - noticing our habits and customizing his service to meet our needs.

Definitely THE BEST VIEW OVER TIMES SQUARE, a place located in the center on the 3rd floor of a skyscraper. Prices are absolutely honest since a long drink worthy of the name costs $20, there are clubs in Italy that ask the same amount for much less flashy locations. You can also have dinner and the dishes and most importantly, the desserts that my brother and I took were absolutely quality. If you happen to be in New York I absolutely Recommendation to try it at least once, but BOOK IN ADVANCE AND ASK TO RESERVE A TABLE NEAR THE SHOWCASE OVERLOOKING TIMES SQUARE.

Having done a lot of research prior to coming to the city this place appeared to be on the to do list if you wanted iconic views over Times Square. With that in mind and uncertain how busy it would be whilst actually being there I pre booked a table for 19.30hours on a Saturday night. We arrived at the bar and were swiftly seated. Upon my reservation i had requested a window seat but sadly this wasnt honoured and so were seated in the middle section on a table for 6 despite there only being 2 of us. Although I was disappointed with this as the bar isnt massive I felt it didnt impinge on the ambience and setting to much. We ordered some drinks to start with and these were bought to us soon after. The waiter did try to take a food order at this point but initially we declined wanting to appreciate our drinks and the setting to start with. However when we were ready to do so we ordered food without any delay. As we had eaten during the day we had a 3 cheese pizza and chips to share. The chips were bought out not long after but the pizza seemed to take much longer to arrive. Having wanted them together this meant we weren't able to. Whilst eating our food several window tables had vacated and so I asked the waiter if it was possible to move. He declined my request and informed me a large booking was coming in which meant the vacated tables were being reserved. With that in mind I took the opportunity to get some photos and soak up the setting whilst the bar was practically only half full. That area of the bar never filled up whilst we were in there so not entirely sure of this booking was coming in or not. We ordered more drinks and a cheesecake dessert and continues to enjoy our experience over looking Times Square. Despite not getting the table request we had hoped for this didnt take away from the experience we had from dining here and will definitley return when visiting the city next.

We were here a few days before NYE. This restaurant must be amazing on NYE since it is facing the stage area. All the food we ordered was good. A few had the burgers and my daughter and I shared a bunch of appetizers. Everything we ate was tasty and well presented. The cost was also affordable for this area and quality. My only complaint was the service was a little on the rude side. We waited a while to be served when we entered while waiters just kept walking by. All in all, the view makes up for it.

We enjoyed our dinner enormously and we took all the pictures that we could and were mesmerised by the extraordinary views of Times Square on a very cold but clear evening. A great pace. Food was good but average and service was not serious at all... Somebody demanded Coke and the waiter Brough Pepsi changing the name to Coke when the person said I asked for Coke... and the same with somebody who asked for a Chardonnay and was given a Sauvignon Blanc telling tat is was what she has asked for...

We attended the NYE party and it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for this traveling TN girl. If you’ve ever wanted to see the ball drop in NYC but didn’t want to wear diapers and brave the weather for 9+ hours, this is the place. It overlooks Times Square and has a direct view of the ball drop. We could see all of the crowds below us and our VIP table was next to the window facing the ball. The food (including sushi bar) was great and the drinks were flowing. The DJ and the paid dancers were so fun and kept the room going all night. The mix of current and retro music was perfect. You have a choice of going to the rooftop to observe the ball drop but we opted for the indoors version. I believe we had the best direct view and warmth to go with it. Highly highly recommend and wear your best dress and tuxedo or NYE suit!

What a wonderful evening! We had reservations at 9:00 and were guided to our table by Sylvia who watched over us all evening. The view was awesome but part way through our drinks, she took us to the most amazing view of Times Square which was only topped by the wonderful service from Jorge G. From the drinks to appetizers to main course and finally dessert, our first time experience at the R Lounge could not have been better! Thanks so much and we’ll be back.

The food is excellent, Crispy Shrimp is the outstanding dish. The most amazing views over the iconic Times Square. Service excellent. Where it went wrong for me is around 8.30pm when a DJ arrived and blasted out loud music. It didn’t seem to suit the place.

Glad I happened on this place. Not cheap, but we sat by big window, ate good food, & took in all the sights outside. Our last night in NY & it was a treat!

Sadly the place has a great location but the service is TERRIBLE, it seems like they are doing you a favor.

So glad we had drinks & dinner at the R Lounge for our last evening in NYC!! Our pre-dinner cocktails were great and the Black Angus Burger & fries were delicious! Our waitress, Sylvia, was wonderful and very attentive! The terrific view of Times Square is definitely ‘worth the price of admission!!’

Beautiful place with a great view of New York's Times Square. Unfortunately I can't recommend the food but the service was good and drinks were nice.

Before I lived in NYC, I visited Times Square a half-dozen times. And I've been there dozens of times since, including New Year's Eve! And I know visitors always want to see it! Ok, lots of New Yorkers say, why would I want to go there? Never.. But a few weeks ago, I went to the R Lounge at the Renaissance Hotel Times Square! A panorama of full glass windows on the third floor overlooking Times Square. Try to get a window table! Have a drink, some food and enjoy the view! It's very special!

From back in May: The view was great, the drinks and food was nice and the wait staff was friendly - however, the host who seated us was most disagreeable. I had made reservations well in advance requesting seating by a window since we were from out of town. When we arrived there was no seating, so we sat at a huge table with only two of us. Then, two tables opened up by the window and sat vacant and my husband asked if we could move. The host immediately said "NO" and put "reserved" signs on them. Quite rude. We tried to make the best of it but felt very unhappy at how we were treated (and I know our waiter was embarrassed). I wish this could have been a different experience. I was so looking forward to it.

FAB view and not crowded at all at 5:30 on a Friday. The drinks were on point, food was simple and very good, and the service was attentive. I thought it’d be too ‘touristy’ for me to take my cousins and her family...but it was a lovely pre-theatre choice.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Renaissance Times Square and were delighted with the delicious buffet breakfast and the incredible view from the R Lounge. The hotel location is right in the middle of the bustling City and starting your day with this outstanding view is perfect. And the food was plentiful and worthy of a Marriott property...will definitely stay there again.

Visited R lounge last night. We are staying at the Renaissance and after a long day decided just to go to the hotel bar for a drink and snack before bed. Had the charcuterie board which was just enough (we’d had a big late lunch) and food was really delicious. Our server, Marlene was so welcoming and made a point to have a chat to our 10 year old which we really appreciated as kids can quite often be ignored in bars. She was a lovely host and really on the ball. Will be back in again during this week no doubt! Plus… the views are worth a visit alone!

I recently visited R Lounge before going to see the Lion King for cocktails and a light meal. I had been excited to visit as I’d seen photo’s of the views and read great reviews. We booked our table in advance and arrived at our time of 5.30pm. We were seated next to the window so had a great view of Times Square. Unfortunately we waited 25 minutes before being served, after asking on two separate occasions if we could order, to be told someone would be over soon. When the waitress did arrive and was about to take our order, she noticed a man sitting behind us who I later found out was a platinum guest, and said to us she’d be back in a minute she wanted to say hi to this guest. I understand he’s an important guest, however we were also paying customers. During our visit we saw 2 tables of people leave as they hadn’t been served either. If we hadn’t been restricted with time we would have left too. The waitress also brought our bill before I’d asked for it and I was charged for a cocktail I never received.

Quite the view out of this restaurant... overlooking Times Square in all of it's hustle and bustle. It might be this very thing that charms many a tourist to go and bask in that buffuddled beauty. It did for me and my family... because I can't think of any other reasons. So now then, let's talk about the rest. Quite average food and rude staff. Main courses that came before we had finished our starters, and waiters that pretend you don't even exist if you are not one of their tables. The evening ended in farcical fashion, our waiter throwing our reduced tip back at us, as it did not constitute enough as to what they had told us was enough, on our bill. But to be fair, $0 would be a fair price for service of that quality everywhere else in the world. But probably not in America. Still... the view is nice.

We visited here on a Friday evening having booked in advance due to a friend’s recommendation. The lounge juts out into Times Square giving it a great location where you feel immersed yet away from the hustle and bustle. We ordered beers, a pizza and a watermelon salad. The food was good and the service was friendly and attentive. A great experience that I would recommend if you want to experience Times Square in a calm and relaxed environment.

The R Lounge of the Renaissance hotel at Times Square, offers through its large windows an excellent view of the square. The internal design is excellent, but the quality of offerings and service is below the price standards. We had coffee and cakes and paid for four USD 70. The quality of cakes and coffee was absolutely below the level expected for such prices, and service was almost amateur like.

Now walking in Times Square is good but Sitting at the window of the R Lounge is like Tourist heaven! You can see it all! Get your bearings, see the streets, stores, restaurants where the buses stop, etc. R Lounge is an amazing place the food is great the service is even better. It’s five star service for a good price! Great views and wonderful at Sunset. It will be a return destination, like it was for me, Fabulous!!!

What an amazing find! This lounge has unobstructed views of everything in Times Square. We just wished we could have this same view on New Years Eve!

Amazing atmosphere! Enough noise to not be overhead by others but quiet enough to have good conversations. They have smaller places to be secluded and the big lounge room has several tables that are spread out. If you want a window seat, be sure to request it in your reservation and remind them when you arrive.

The views, the food, the drinks were all fantastic. The ambience was good, prices reasonable for the location. Only thing they could improve on is the attitude of staff and speed of service. Generally friendly but clearly really didn’t care. My daughter waited 40 minutes for her first drink.

We didn’t know you could book a table .... in the past we just walked up and got a table with a view of Times Square! Amazing view! This time, without a reservation, we couldn’t get a table with a view, but still grabbed a booth in the connecting bar area. We enjoyed drinks in a relatively quiet setting... nice! Next time we will be sure to make a reservation.

Took my grand daughter for her first trip to NYC. Made reservations and asked for a window seat. Absolutely perfect floor to ceiling windows looking down Times Square. Could not have been a better view. The food was surprisingly good ( kinda thought it might be a tourist trap) and when we told our waitress we had theater tickets she made sure we were fed and out the door in a timely fashion. Highly recommend and had great photos of my grand daughter with Times Square lights right over her shoulder.

Booked this restaurant with a view for my 40th birthday. Wish I didn’t bother!!! To start off with we were offered a coffee table to sit and have dinner from. Didn’t fancy being hunched over so we asked to be moved to an alternative table. To be fair the staff duly obliged. Then it went downhill from there! The waiter clearly didn’t want to be there and had zero customer service. We ordered our starters and my partners was wrong. Hers was delivered quite quickly albeit wrong and mine arrived 10-15 mins later whilst being delivered to me over mine and my partners shoulders. Now I don’t work in a restaurant but this was quite rude especially when they could place the plate down at the side of my table. Whilst eating our starters we had 2 or 3 people wanting to see at our table to have their pictures taken with a view of Times Square. The staff even took their photos whilst we were mid starters! I sat and waited over 25 mins with an empty beer bottle and glass and still no staff to see if we would like another drink. Eventually our dinner arrived and once again placed on the table over my and my partners shoulder when clearly there was ample room at each side of us. I thought this was lazy and extremely rude. We didn’t stay after and the only tip to be given was their staff need better customer service training. Food was nice, shame my 40th birthday meal was ruined by incompetent staff. I would never come back here again!

For good food and the BEST view of Times Square, this is a must visit. I think it's great for everyone but especially first time visitors!

A really nice attention ! Prices are good and the view is absolutley amazing. Also the food is good it took a little while to bring the drinks, but in general was a very nice service. Thank you so much !

Dinner was fantasic. Couldn't recommend Alex and Ralphie more- so knowledgeable about drinks and the menu. Their hospitality experience was beyond. Great views and overall wonderful night with my wife!

We had an 8PM reservation for 7. Our table wasn’t ready and the host told us to wait on the couch and NOT to go to the bar because it was two separate transactions. This made zero sense but we did what he asked us to do. 30 minutes later we were still waiting....& the couch is literally right in front of the bar, so we went ahead and got drinks. When we finally got our table, it would comfortably seat 6, not 7, but we squished in because there was no other option. Our waiter seemed put out by any questions or interaction. On the bright side....the food was good and the view SPECTACULAR! Their crappy attitude aside, I would go again for the view. It’s really about the friends or family you’re with. Just don’t go expecting warm fuzzies from the staff.

Although this was not the largest of lounges it was not over busy considering the views it had over Times Square and that we were there at a weekend. So, even having been seated in middle we still able to appreciate the outlook while enjoying our drinks. The waiter was eager for us to order and initially did not seem too pleased that we did not want to do so right away. The food menu is not extensive but we were aware of this and it did suit our needs however it was disappointing that when we did order the food did not arrive all together. We were determined this would not spoil our evening and enjoyed another drink while relaxing after a busy day taking in the sights.

We had a nice evening at R Lounge at Renaissance Hotel in NYC. Octopus appetizer was delicious. Hamburger good, great french fries but we did not like the grilled cheese, too greasy. Alex, our waiter made sure my daughter could choose another meal to her liking. Great service, Alex is very people orientated and thoughful. Sincerely appreciated his service! Not too busy on a rainy thursday night. We had a reservation at 8h00pm and they have been able to accommodate us a little earlier. We had a great time and great service, definitely recommend this place.

Visited here Dec 2023 for a few drinks before heading to dinner elsewhere. The view is amazing overlooking Times Square, can’t deny that. The service was poor, unfriendly, uninterested and slow. Terrible wine selection (only Chardonnay available, no rose and no sauvignon blanc) and the glasses the drinks were served in were awful and cheap feeling. The waiter made us feel like we were putting him out.

Food was good, service was average, but the view was absolutely fantastic! You can’t have a better view on Times Square. Ask for a window seat, and enjoy the view!

The R Lounge is all about the atmosphere. Go for the view and the photo opp but save your money to eat somewhere else. Drinks are fine, but food is very limited. The menu has only a handful of options: a salad, a burger, some bar food appetizer options. Not at all what I was expecting, which was fine dining, so that was disappointing. We shared an overpriced cheeseboard. But if you eat somewhere else and go here just to hang out, take pics and have a drink then its a great environment to meet up with friends. We had late 9pm reservations and the waiters we had were not friendly. They closed at 10pm, which I thought was odd if they are a bar more than restaurant.

Ordered 2 cocktails for $18 each - thought they must be worth the price - we we're wrong . couldn't taste any alcohol in either of them . Cosmo tasted purely of juice . Really slow service , very expensive , you really are paying for the location . Seriously need to sort your service and bar tender out

Michael is a very welcoming individual. He works in the spirit of excellence and goes beyond the call of duty to make sure the customers are satisfied. Most of all he treats you like family!! Also Mohammed was a great Waiter. Loved his smile and friendly disposition.

Spectacular 270-degree view of Times Square but the most meager brunch I have ever seen for $45/ person. The restaurant claims to not accept reservations but left most prime tables reserved for a group without explanation.

Was there for breakfast. Was running out of space. Food taste good and staff were nice. Had to wait for food to replenish.

I had booked this restaurant for our first night in NYC on 26th December! I’m so pleased I had. We waited a little bit for the table as they were so busy but because of this we got a great corner table by the window so we could see Times Square from all angles! Great food (we both had the burger), delicious cocktails and all for a decent price considering the view! Recommend their kettle chips to start, they were yummy!

I eat here with my family after a days shopping. The views of times square were simply amazing. The food and deserts were very good as was the service. The price was also good, one of the cheapest meals we had in new york. The only disappointment, was how cold it was in the restaurant. It had been a hot day and were wearing shorts and t shirts, we would have stayed after dinner for drinks but it was too cold. We also noticed other guests putting coats and jumpers.

Had a reservation for Wednesday at 5:30 PM. Man called me the day before and stated that my reservation was for Tuesday and could not be on Wednesday’s because they are closed. Checked website, co firmed that they are open. Called back, man said they are closed for construction. Spoke to manager and confirmed, they are not closed for construction but rather they have a pop up event and my reservation was canceled. This restaurant lacks integrity and if they have no integrity, I would not trust them with making food for me and my family.

My husband arranged a surprise meal for me here on our last night of a two week trip. The menu was very small and basic, it’s just a hotel lobby restaurant. They have a small cocktail menu and when I asked for a cocktail without a juice I was told that they pre mix it in the morning, not very good. There’s nothing special about this place apart from the view I guess. We had starters and mains, the food was very average, my steak was over cooked and dry. My husbands steak was also over cooked. When clearing our plates I was asked why I didn’t eat it all and said it wasn’t very nice and then the man that took the plate said he would tell the waitress. The waitress was amazing, a true credit to this place and she deserves mention, her name is Marlene and she is so helpful and thoughtful. The main guy in the restaurant slammed our bill down and didn’t even acknowledge us. When the waitress came she took the bill away and actually took the cost of my steak off the bill. Go for a drink and to see the view, but don’t bother with the food, there are many places in Hells Kitchen or Greenwich that do fantastic food.

I love the R Lounge its my favorite spot in time square. Easy access and location in one of the busiest places in the world. There is a little corner where you enjoy the ambience without being in the middle of it.
Dinner at R lounge
Fabulous place to watch Times Square. Cocktails are great, food is good. Limited menu but something for everyone, but it's not about the food it about the location and the view. Great atmosphere would go back tomorrow! Our waitress Marlene was outstanding. She changed our night from a good night to a memorable night. Love this place. If you are in NYC just book a table. We requested and window table and for it all in all a prefect night
