Worth the expensive cocktails for the view

By 440debbie |

From other peoples recommendations we visited the Rainbow Room and were not disappointed. We didn't eat choose to have just cocktails and although the most expensive cocktails we have ever bought, worth it for the fantastic views. We visited in January so were unable to go outside and arrived at thetime the rom opens, 4.30pm, and stayed to see NYC go from late afternoon sun to night which was magical. The bar area is not large and being our visit was low season, not crowded. We only had 3 days so choose the Rainbow Room as opposed to going up the Empire State building.

Bar 65... Absolutely fabulous

By MDale |

Spent an evening here as a special treat. It is the most fantastic venue and the atmosphere is fabulous. It was foggy when we visited so there were no views of New York at night but that didn't spoil the evening at all. The Manhattan's and POM cocktails were wonderful, likewise the food - cured meat platter and later meringue. A fabulous evening. Don't turn up in jeans ..make an effort, you'll be glad you did.

Dinner, cocktails at the iconic Rainbow room

By Roses_travelgram2016 |

We booked three months ahead for this treat on our last leg of our 3 week US roadtrip 2018- bar sixty five at the iconic rainbow room on the 65th floor of the Rockefeller building. We had three course meal champagne and stayed for cocktails til 11pm. I will never forget the best dessert I’ve ever had in nyc the flaming “choco-feller Alaska” so delicious and so theatrical watching it flaming which I captured on video. I could have eaten two. The spectacular setting and the best views of Manhattan day and night was so amazing .we thoroughly enjoyed it.

What a view!

On a recent trip to NY we treated ourselves to cocktails and a meal here. Beautiful views, great food, tasty cocktails and lovely service. A real treat - just go!

The Best Experience in NYC

By Jim S |

My wife and celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary dinner at the Rainbow Room and we were not disappointed. The service was impeccable, the view was to die for (overlooking the Empire State building) and the food was incredible and delicious. The only down side was that is was loud early on with the people who go up only for drinks but apart from that the Rainbow Room was the best place to celebrate our 30th. I highly recommend the Rainbow Room/bar 65 to anyone who wants great service, food and amazing views

Lovely view and atmosphere

By markSthlm |

Great food and a nice place to eat a lovely dinner overlooking the Big Apple. The Sea Bass was soo good! Good service and a nice restaurant!

Awesome place.... worth every dime.

By RBow705 |

Lovely romantic location with fantastic cocktails.... be aware of the minispend but don’t be put off as the value is deserved. The view is amazing and the restaurant area feels very exclusive.

Hard to beat the view!

By Nick O |

a great restaurant in a fantastic building with a view of NY that would be hard to match. Great service from great staff.

Stunning views

By Tracy A |

We were told by friends to come here instead of going up to the top. We were not disappointed, the views were amazing. We had to wait a while to go up but it was worth the wait. The drinks were expensive but you only need one or two to experience that view. Would definitely go again

Exceeded expectation

By suzannebrady |

We booked a table here weeks ago for our last night in New York and indeed the last night of our holiday together with our brother and sister in law. We were not disappointed The service received in here last night was by far the best service we have had in New York. All of the staff were superb, from the colleague downstairs greeting us, to the colleagues upstairs greeting us, the man on the lift and especially our server Danielle. They were all so friendly, helpful and very patient especially when we kept asking lots of questions about the menu and the drinks!! The view is fabulous and we had requested a table outside too, which was a good move. The food was all excellent, although we hadn’t realised how big the small plates would be and probably shouldn’t have ordered a small plate AND a large plate had we known! As we were leaving we met Bebe who took some great photos and then showed the rainbow room to us and shared its history. It was brilliant. Definitely would recommend here but you’ll need to book.

Fantastic place

By Sarah K |

Was a little dubious after a bad experience at the view restaurant - however, unnecessary! Amazing views, fantastic service, seated straight away, really great cocktails and the food looked great! The group were even given a tour of the actual rainbow room which was a highlight of the trip! Definately recommend but ensure you book ahead.

Great views and food not bad either!

By Philippa H |

We finished off out trip to the USA here - a clear evening with spectacular views, pleasant drinks and the food is ok too (the quinoa sliders are vegan + gluten free!). If you are over 21 I would recommend coming here rather than the Empire State - the views are just as good and for the money you'd spend on an elevator ticket you can enjoy a cocktail or two - a much more satisfactory experience! Be sure to remember to book a few weeks in advance.

A must do experience

By Cocktailess |

Although my 10th visit to New York this was the first time at the Rainbow Room. Email instructions to the venue were very useful as was the pre call from Ryan 24 hours in advance to confirm the table. The greeting at the cloakroom and reception was lovely and we were taken from the lift to the table straight away by the host. The views were spectacular - they cannot be missed. The atmosphere was also buzzing. We asked for a couple of off menu cocktails and we were brought these without fuss, and they were amazing. The food was also very good - a mixture of American dishes and was of average midtown price I would say. IF you are considering going here to eat and drink then my advice would be to just book it, as it is a delightful experience.

A Legend

By Holly W |

This place is cool. The three course meal was good, and I loved the three-tiered tray of treats. Stop for a drink at the bar, first, to hang out by the windows. Staff was courteous and efficient.

Drinks with a view for free

By Jme c |

Why pay to go to the top of the rock when you can go to bar 65/rainbow room for free and have a nice cocktail with a veiw. As the name states bar 65 is on the 65th floor of the Rockefeller centre which is only about 5/6 floors down from the observatory platform. Few things go to note bit of a dress code (as in you cang bs in shorts and flip flops, but check before trip for dress code) and drinks are pricey. But I booked a table online other wise you have to stand in a open area in the middle of the room so booking a table gets you closer to the views but you have to make one purchase minimum but still cheaper then getting a top of the rock tickets. Overall good atmosphere and what a way to see the city.

Great view, perfect for a date

By mai_chloebaby |

Great view (empire state, WTC, central park) and you can both drink and eat at this place. You definitely need to make a reservation. My recommendation is to go during summer time instead of winter so you can go out to the terrace area.

Go there when you are in NY

By msspss |

This is heaven in heaven. This was our first visit but not the last one when we are in NY. The atmosphere in the room was amazing. Waiters exactly knowing their role and engagement at the right level. You could feel the people around you and still be private. Ad-hoc guests was coming for a standing drink and enjoying the city view. This also worked perfect. We had a mea-t and a cheese plate which was sufficient for 4 people. Everything was just perfect. Everyone fulfilled the dress code, it is nice to see that people dress up for an evening in these surroundings. You can go outside and see the city (it is possible to book a table outside if weather is OK or it is not booked for a large group. If you are planning to have a night view of NY from the rock it is recommended to book a table here and enjoy an evening. Price wise this is cheap compared to Denmark taking all aspects into consideration.

How to celebrate a birthday!

By jan h |

What an incredible experience we had watching the sunset over the Empore State Building while sipping pink champagne. The views in the sunshine then the sunset and finally the night sky was fantastic. What a way to see New York skyline. The staff are discreet, helpful and knowledgeable and we were delighted with the alternative selection of champagne. We went to celebrate a special birthday and it really made the occasion. Definitely recommend a visit here.

Incredible views and friendly staff

By Lucy R |

Incredible views, friendly server Jimmy and two complementary desserts as it was my birthday. We were also taken on a mini tour of the actual Rainbow Room which was great!

Breathtaking as ever

By SareJane14 |

I go here every month of so. Service is always impeccable. Don’t bother with paying extra for table outside unless it’s a special occasion as you need to pay a minimum. Although not hard to reach minimum spend here :) Vegan selection very limited. But pita with hummus is great

Bit of a disaster

By Nicky H |

So I booked this restaurant for my 40th Birthday and we were a party of 7. To start off it was such a cloudy night that you couldn’t see anything other than dense cloud, which is of course not the restaurants fault, but of course the view was the main reason for booking the restaurant. Sadly the food was really poor, the starters weren’t too bad, but the main courses were a disaster. Pretty much everything was cold or luke warm at best and the steaks were not cooked well at all no matter how they had been requested - the medium was actually rare and the well done was absolutely incinerated. The burgers were apparently ok, but the triple cooked chips were burnt and cold. In their defence the head waitress came over to talk to me unprompted which I was impressed with, as we’d sent stuff back and was incredibly apologetic. She did offer some desserts and coffees on the house to make up for it, but only bought over 3 desserts for the 7 of us, which I thought wasn’t exactly generous bearing in mind we ended up with an $820 for a pretty sub standard dining experience. Really you’re paying for the view, and had we had that, it might not have seemed like day light robbery. As we left the couple on the table next to us had called the head waitress over regarding their oysters which they thought were off. My advice would be have a drink in the bar here instead of eating at the restaurant, as I’m 100% sure that on a clear night - the views are unparalleled. That way you get the views without paying an arm and a leg for below average food.

Best Experience in NYC

If you want a solid view of the city, this is the place to visit. Everything is so grand and elegant and there are clear views of the entire city.

NYC's Rainbow Room at 30 Roc! Amazing. Magically Romantic. Breathtaking!

By ZERO-NONSENSE |

NYC's Rainbow Room 30 Rockefeller Plaza Midtown West, NYC Rainbow Room NYC. What can we say. An all-time NYC Landmark & NYC Centerpiece. Remember, you are pro-actively, and, deliberately, choosing to expend those GREENBUCK$ in exchange for the sum of all its comprehensive happenings, over the entire, total, "collectiveness" of your event’s magical, romantic, elegant luxurious visit, and, not, for any one trade-off. You need to decide ahead of time that you wish to choose to treat that visit as an INVE$TMENT for the overall inclusive: Magical, Mystifying, Luxury, Opulence, Elegance, Ambiance, Lavishness, Lushness, ... and superbly magnificent breath-taking view. IF you can do that, then, you will enjoy your visit. In its original form, yes, the revolving doors allowed you to enter regally in the ‘lower’ area vs where you now enter from the ‘upper’ section; and, yes, it is ‘altered’ from the original Rainbow Room of yesteryear. Those returning since its re-opening need to promise that we shall not compare the ‘previous’ nostalgic mythical Rainbow Room with some Table Servers who wore Tuxes with "Tails" to the present Rainbow Room. Those attending for their first, initial visit, need to accept the overall reason for their visit, as aforementioned previously. Please, simply accept, and, please, do not fret, if you are not able to be seated at your ‘pre-made’ (along time ago) ‘guaranteed’ ‘reservation time’, or, even dine exactly at a ‘window’ table, even if you have “guaranteed reservations” (also made long ago) or ‘Guaranteed Reservations’ (made eons ago), at a window table”. Please do not fret and, Please, be patient if the staff encourages you not to linger at the panoramic-view vista windows displaying NYC at its finest. You can enjoy these breathtaking views from alternate glamorous viewing windows outside the currently used dining entrance-way, ("in the hallway area") either, before you enter, or, after your dining experience has concluded. THAT is just the way the reality is! Again, if you can conform and adapt to the subliminal, unwritten, regimentation, in lieu of being forlorn, and, again, keep your ‘eye’ on the explicit reasons you chose to visit this Enchanted Realm, then, you will have an unforgettable and memorable experience.

The view is top, but...

By Bixiebixie |

The view is absolutely amazing, it’s really unbelievable. The drinks are good as well. But the room staff is really unfriendly and rude. I was standing in front of a window with my drink and a girl announced me I couldn’t stay right there because “the view was for everybody”, whilst nobody was beside me! Maybe I should have lay down on the floor..really not a good experience.

The holiday brunch was fantastic!!!

By Renee |

The holiday brunch was fantastic!!! The selection was huge from fresh seafood to many salads and carving stations Pork belly and ham and fresh turkey! Loved the Asian station , dim sum and tons of side dishes Also the dessert wow it was amazing from the nitrogen ice cream to a s’mores station I felt like a little kid! I really recommend this for everyone The staff is wonderful they made our experience extra special! It’s definitely pricey but worth every dollar! Only thing they should have had lobster or caviar would have been a nice touch!

High class restaurant with amazing view

This is a must go place when in NY. The view of the city, people dressed up, great food and service.

Fantastic experience; not just a meal

By lozzibrev |

We recently ate at the Rainbow Room as part of our honeymoon as a wedding present. The experience was amazing! Not only did we request a downtown view but we got to enjoy and take in the view for approximately 2 hours throughout sunset, whilst we drank and ate a beautiful meal. I’ve done the ‘top of the rock’ before and would recommend swapping this for a meal at The Rainbow Room as the value for money is far better. The staff were polite and attentive and brought us some champagne for our honeymoon. The food was tasty -highly recommend the Mont Blanc dessert. We paid approx $125 for a large shared platter starter, 2 mains, 1 dessert and 3 alcoholic drinks. For current NYC prices this isn’t bad at all. Be aware if you are simply going for drinks only (bar 65), the bar section of is roped off giving you central room access only so you can’t go right up to the windows. Also the drinks are quite pricey (generally $20 each). Top Tip - reserve a table online in advance and ask for a downtown view. Top Tip - If possible, book just before sunset so you can enjoy the daytime/evening view experience.

A must see

By Ripley |

A great place to see if you're in New York. Best to make a reservation, a group of us had dinner and drinks, great service and lovely food. The drinks are a bit pricey but it's worth it for the fabulous view.

Christmas celebrations

By Linda C |

What an amazing view of the City. We couldn’t east at The Rainbow Room because there was a private party. So we went to Bar 65 which was terrific. The room was very pretty and the service was top notch. Pricey but worth it!

My partners 50th

By John B |

Spent an early evening here and watched the sun set, its was absolutely wonderful. This is my top recommendation for a trip to New York, the views were fantastic, watching the sin set and the New York skyline light up was breath taking. Staff were very attentive and looked after us, there was no rush and we could have the table as long as we wanted. Food was really good and value for money as you dont have to pay to go up there and you get a fantastic view of the Empire state building, which cost about $38 to go up to the observatory. So save your money and go to the rainbow room and spend your money on a meal instead.

Very good cocktails

By SimplyFred |

There were some cocktails on the menu I had not heard of which was interesting. When we tasted them they were all exquisite in their own way. Great talent here and a ‘must do that again!’ Of course - great views as welll.

access disappointing

only available after 5;00 and formal wear is required for drinks.....we didnt go.because of the timeline and dress code.

Honeymoon Dinner & Dancing 9/01/1984

By GrandTour47914224164 |

Truly a night and experience to remember.....Sat. Sept. 1st, 1984. We had reservations for our honeymoon dinner. We flew in to Newark and checked into our Manhattan hotel earlier that day.....we were married in Texas the evening before. My wife was a native of Albany, but had not been back to NY for 7 yrs. It was service tableside for us with Champagne, Chateaubriand, Bananas Foster, and The Tommy Dorsey Band. I was wearing my Texas boots(antelope) and a suit. The service was exceptional as was the food in those days. My beautiful wife was decked as well, beaming under the chandeliers. We naturally had a professional photographer take photos for us and have them in an album today. This night was a fantastic beginning to a love affair that has lasted a lifetime. After dinner & dancing, we went to Regine's nightclub.....maybe about 11 pm. It was very famous at that time, and the line was stretched to get in. But our cabbie motioned the doorman and he waved us to the front and welcomed us in. Everybody just looked at us wondering who we were....hahaha. We were newlyweds from Texas and it was my first trip to New York City.......boots and all.

Fantastic views

By valerie H |

Went to bar 65had a lovely meal. Which was not over priced considering view there. Atmosphere good, but if it was in the summer you wouldn’t have a view while eating inside due to balcony outside which would be crowded with people. Only complaint why does men’s toilet have a nice view when there is no view in women’s, also table a bit small for four diners

Most amazing night!

By Denise |

Excellent service from the moment we arrived, the views are fantastic. The food was excellent! Not a cheap night but worth every penny! WWould recommend

Delicious but expensive!

By Semisweetreverie |

My friend and I enjoyed our drinks and snacks, but it is definitely pricey. If you sit outside, there is a minimum of I believe $60 per person. It was very easy to hit that minimum. Each drink is almost $20. Three drinks and there you go. We ordered the pretzel bites and the pigs in a blanket and had two drinks and then coffee with Kahluah. Man was that drink pricey! It was windy and cold outside, so I definitely would think about what the weather will be like. You do have to make reservations as well. Honestly, I would eat inside and then just go outside to look at the view. Or even just get a drink from the bar and enjoy the view while standing outside. There were so many people taking pictures near our table that it might be annoying to some people. There was just a rope to separate us from anyone who wasn't eating. It was fun to people watch though. Overall, it was a splurge and I can say I've done it! The drinks were really delicious and you can't beat the view!

Aside from the fabulous view, it seems over rated and way over priced

By Brian S |

Went to the Rainbow Room for a special occasion with good friends. As you would expect from being otop the Rockefeller Center, the views are amazing. But, that was about it. The staff is unbeleivably pretentious, not friendly, and had hardly a smile on their faces. They were not pushy, however, and let us linger as we were having good fun. The menu is odd and not at all what I expected, an unusual mix of fine dining choices and quite casual fare as well. The portions are small and the prices are over inflated. And, the food was good, but certainly not amazing or really special.

Worth booking a table

By BrittlePeanut |

We had pre-booked a table which was well worth it. We were seated by the window which was even better at sundown. Cocktails, wine and beer were expensive, as you would expect. We also shared a few small dishes - the food was a little disappointing, which was a shame, but the overall experience was really good. It's well worth booking a table - especially at sundown, otherwise you will be standing in the middle of the room roped off - and it get's very busy at that time of the day with people taking pictures! As a treat on our first night in NY - why not!

Excellent view and Cocktails!

By JohnLaw |

By far the best view of city and great service at the excellent bar. This is the place to get your Bourbon Manhattan. 65th Floor and they have a one drink minimum at $22 each..

Fabulous views and sunset

By Gregory L |

Make sure that you book a table! Ok, the drinks are expensive but you do get fabulous views thrown in. The view of the Empire State Building is unbeatable. We enjoyed a wonderful sunset and the illuminated Empire State Building was magical. This was our first evening in New York and it was special.

AMAZING

By Liz9191 |

The rainbow room has amazing views over New York city, I would recommend booking a meal here instead of doing Top of the Rock. Me and my husband hooked in advance of our trip to New York, the drinks and the food were lovely. The prices are at the higher end but definitely worth it, we shared a meat platter and chips and tried a few of the champagne cocktails. The only negative I can give is that the staff in the restaurant were not very friendly. Not once did anyone come over and ask how our food was, however other tables around us were asked and were approached quickly when glasses were empty for more drinks. I would recommend booking here when in New York and despite the staff i would definitely return in the future.

Private events only?

By MichiganFloyd |

We wanted to go there for drinks, but when we got to the hostess stand we were told that the Rainbow Room is now only for private events.

Exceptional setting

By Shaylene |

This place is exceptionally beautiful. We rented the Gallery for our Champagne breakfast event and I was thrilled with how it shows. The view and the decor make for an awesome setting. Our event coordinator, Lianne, was the consummate professional. My only issue was that we paid per person for a mimosa and Bloody Mary bar at breakfast but it was just a regularly bar with bartender- nothing to indicate there were mimosas or bloody Mary’s to be served so no one ordered or drank them. A bit of a waste of money, which I regret. The buffet itself was delicious and beautifully spread. I would host another event there in the future.

Amazing views and reasonable prices food

By SJ |

Anywhere which has a view like this is going to come at a premium so we were pleasantly surprised by the prices here. Before we got to the menu though we got shown to our table which had a magnificent night view all over mid and down town manhattan. All of the staff were nice and friendly, they really did go out of their way to spoil you. The food was delicious - pigs in blankets to share, a chicken dish and a burger and we both left absolutely stuffed. Drinks were lovely, although I had one and it smelt really strong and the waitress kindly removed it and let me chose another. It’s the little things like this that really make a difference. If you have the chance to go here, do not miss out. Get booked and have a lovely evening in a fabulous venue.

Cocktails

By terri f |

We enjoyed a lovely cocktail here one evening, great views We also ate in the restaurant, the food was really nice however the seating wasn’t great as the bar is situated in the centre and people were overlooking our table as we were eating. Worth seeing for the view with a cocktail. I’d miss the food next time.

A lovely romantic evening - great views and delicious food

By r0siel0we |

We made a reservation before our trip to New York and after reading some of the reviews about the food being poor we thought we would have a drink see the views and check out the food when we arrived. We were very impressed when we got to the 65th floor and saw the spectacular views from the restaurant. We sat inside as there was a minimum spend of $60 per person for outside seating. We were allowed to take our drinks out on to the balcony to take in the views and take some photos. We were seated by the kitchen and the food coming out looked delicious so we ordered the flatbread and fries to share - it was delicious. If you are consdiering visiting Rainbow Rooms while you're in New York don't hesitate. Book in advance to avoid queues and if you don't mind paying a little etxra for the food have a meal there too it's worth the money.

Absolutely unforgettable

By grandadRossonWye |

I really can’t disagree more with the previous review. This was our first time in the rainbow room. We were celebrating our 50th anniversary. We had our granddaughter and her boyfriend with us From the moment that you step in the building you are looked after like royalty. The service is outstanding. The food devine. Nothing was too much trouble. Of course the views are to die for. I didn’t think that anything was overpriced. This is New York City in a major tourist attraction. It was thoroughly worth every cent. Thank you so very much.

Harvest Moon Skyline View

By MomWally |

Skip the line for the Top of the Rock and head up to the Rainbow Room's Gallery Bar for incredible views and a seasonal cocktail. We were there on a Friday night for the Harvest Moon Pop-Up Bar adjacent to Bar SixtyFive. A stunning way to experience New York's skyline!

What a view!

By Cymru63 |

We rolled up without a reservation after a meal in Greenwich, having been recommended to visit by a friend. There was no queue, and the lady at the reception desk welcomed us and ushered us to the lift which whisked us to the 65th floor. The room was lovely with stunning views over downtown Manhattan. Cocktails were about $20 each plus service, and I asked to be put on the waiting list for a table. We only waited about 40 minutes until we were approached to see if we wanted a seat. The staff were all lovely, and it was the perfect place to have a nightcap (or two!) after a lovely meal out. They do food too, which looked good and was reasonably priced for the setting and the view! Would definitely return.

Views across the city from Bar Sixty Five

By Karen M |

On a sunny day you can see for Mike's from Bar Sixty Five at the Rainbow Room. The ambience is fabulous as are their champagne cocktails. The lobster deviled eggs are highly recommended

Birthday Treat

By Simon B |

We were in NYC over Xmas for my wife's 50th birthday. She booked the rainbow room as a treat. It's pricey but worth it for the views. Food was good we had a meat sharing plate, flatbread and a portion of fries between us and there was more than enough for us both. After the meal the staff brought out a free dessert for my wife which was a lovely touch. For a one off treat it was well worth it.

Second visit, killer views, great seafood

By SteveX6 |

Spent the night before my 50th birthday here 15 months ago and just had to return to celebrate our Silver wedding. It is such a special spot with awesome views and the seafood is just amazing. Cocktail menu is very special, you’re not going to get the full experience without a cocktail or two as well as the food. I highly recommend this place to all my friends and family that I know are visiting and it is always the one recommendation they thank me for afterwards!

Awesome food & ambiance, sub par service

By Jessica F |

The food was amazing. So many vegan options which was wonderful! The drinks were pricy for what they are - nothing special TBH. However, the view is awesome. It’s pretty loud in the restaurant. We loved all of the food. Our server didn’t seem to understand several of our requests so we had to do without but it was okay. Definitely a fun experience.

Ask for Joseph to be your waiter

By LucieLou1982 |

Came here for a dinner and drinks as it was our honeymoon. We were greeted and shown to our table by Joseph who was genuinely friendly and lovely guy. His customer service skills were just outstanding. He was attentive but not intrusive. The food was delicious and the cocktails were amazing. Very strong as well. It is quite pricey place but the views are definitely worth it. Will go again when I get a chance to come back to New York.

Too bad it's no longer open like it used to be

By Alberto A |

I give it 3/5 because I can't rate it, as it wasn't possible to go up. Since Covid it has only been open for private events. My wife and I, enticed by the reviews of recent years, showed up hoping to enter but, in fact, we were not granted, considering the change in policy of the place.

Great place, food, views and vibes!

Rainbow Room Vs 230 5th Rooftop Bar

By MustBeSaid |

If you are looking for a place to enjoy drinks or great food and you want to be up in the sky, then there is only one place to visit. Let’s cut to the chase, the 230 5th Rooftop Bar scores a one (it would be a zero if TripAdvisor allowed it) and the Rainbow Room is infinitely better in every way. The Rainbow Room is unpretentiously classy, and first impressions are everything. We were greeted by Alex who immediately won us over with his smile. He ushered us to the elevator and we whooshed to the Rainbow Room in mere moments. We exited the elevator and was greeted by the lovely team at the front of house. However, whilst we waited, two parties filtered through and pushed their way to the front of us and they were assisted first. They only wanted drinks so there was no danger of being sat by them. As these creatures did not have the manners they were born with, the team apologised for the rudeness of these patrons. It was appreciated but it’s only their parents who should have been truly sorry. We were shown to our table in the window and we were assisted by Leslie, who made the evening even better. She was beautiful and brought her Columbian charm to the table. Nothing was too much trouble and she ensured that our water was topped up the moment our glasses were empty, the wine kept flowing and the food was delish. The four of us ordered the same - just as we did on our last visit to New York City. Hands down the Rainbow Room offers the BESTEST WESTEST burger in Manhattan. We first sampled it in October 2016 and it was just as tremendous! Thankfully there IS an unspoken dress code here and it is adhered to. No trainers/sneakers and of course, why would you want to. The elegance of the setting and the magnificence of the viewing platform calls for a little bit of respect and decorum. This is however unlike 230 5th Rooftop Bar which states it has a dress code of no trainers/sneakers and collared tops are expected (fine by us - it sets the bar for the establishment and the people who visit) and when you in fact arrive, it is as if a trash-tv-bomb has exploded and you are left with the dregs of Jersey Shore, The Only Way Is Essex and Made In Chelsea - most of whom are wearing trainers and look like they had dressed in the dark. Honestly, if I wanted to mingle with specimens then I would just visit a farm. The staff could also do with a lesson in manners too. Have no doubts about visiting the Rainbow Room. The team are wonderful, the food is first class and the view... well... one of the best in the world. We will see you next year. Please look after Leslie and Alex until then.

Unbelievable views

By Phillipa S |

Visiting from the UK with friends we where advised to drop into the rainbow rooms. We didn’t plan on going to top of the rock and thought we would happily pay $20 for the views. Upon arriving we where greeted by two lovely gentlemen and advised us to put our coats in the cloak room and any bags (all for free). We then took the lift upto the floor. As soon as you exit the loft and turn left the views just hit you. Took my breath away. We where disappointed that the terrace was closed but still got some fantastic photos. We all opted for cocktail or which yes are a bit pricey, but who cares. They all tasted fabulous. Would most definitely come back but would book a table. Food smelt amazing

Great views

By valerie23 |

The views from the restaurant are incredible, the rest is average or below. Service wasn’t great at all we waited a while to be seated for our reservation and the waiters weren’t really interested. You pay for the views, food and drinks again were far from the best in New York.

Beautiful setting but staff a little rude

By mcr.foodie |

We had this place booked for months and months and all we wanted was a window seat which I requested well in advance but we were seated in the middle and told we couldn’t have one as they were fully booked. At least 3 of the window seats were empty the entire time we were there so I was quite upset! I am giving 4 stars because the food was nice and it’s such a lovely view you have to go! The burger and sliders were great and a good price for the location. The view is insane and worth every penny in itself. Even if you just come for a drink, you have to do it!

Elegant and magical

By macagm97 |

There's something about new york rooftops that gets me everytime. For sure Rainbowroom is not your cheapest option, but it's totally worth the experience. I had dinner for my birthday and had the best time. The service is amazing, and the food is incredible. I ordered steak and it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Drinks are strong, but amazing too. Of course, the best part of this experience is the view. Located at the top of the Rockefeller Center, city lights will light up your table, and you will have the most magical pictures. I recommend making a reservation in advance, and note it's closed on saturday nights. Arrive early, because outside tables fill up fast. Also, there is a $65 minimum per person for an outdoor table.

AWESOME! Go Here!

By farmtraveler83 |

My girlfriends and I chose to come to the Rainbow Room for the experience of beautiful cocktails and high end views of the city. The location didn’t fail us in the least! We only had cocktails in the bar; as we were not dressed for the restaurant, but they were phenomenal! I would say if you have the time and want to enjoy a unique drink and experience a beautiful view of the city; this is your place! Look past the prices; this is NYC, so nothing is going to be inexpensive! Get there early, because they do fill up quickly and there is a line based on capacity.

Birthday Celebration

By Steven A |

Booked table to celebrate wife’s 40th birthday. The view is breathtaking and the setting is plush. The cocktails were varied and tasty. The whole experience was let down by really poor standard of food, which was grossly overpriced. The menu promises but fails to deliver. We ordered a lobster and scallop dish and received what can only be described as a puréed mouse hotdog on a brioche bun, with a side dish of thousand island dressing. Not nice. Definitely worth a visit for cocktails, but the food is to be avoided at all cost.

Still one of the best venues

By GWS78 |

Excellent service, refined, and beautiful. A few new buildings going up that are starting to slightly obstruct the view of central park. Otherwise enjoy a complete 360 view of Manhattan like no other.

Beautiful venue

By fizzybhoy |

Visited Bar65 At The Rainbow Room recently on the recommendation of a colleague. The atmosphere and ambience is out of this world. The staff are very attentive but not overly so. The cocktails are very reasonably priced for the type of place at around $20 each. The food available is excellent quality with a large choice suitable for anyone. The view from the outside terrace is spectacular when its dark and would recommend visiting then

Can't wait to return

By Sarah C |

Doesn't open saturday nights so popped up to Bar 65 on Sunday evening. Vital to book. The best view overlooking the empire state building. Cocktails a must. Double Dutch was recommended by our waiter. He knew his stuff. Food was glorious. Lobster was yummy. Baked Alaska for a birthday surprise was the best. So was the proposal!❤

Sunset at the Rainbow

By David Godley |

Great place to enjoy a Manhattan sunset or....cocktails 😁 Staff pretty friendly although well busy at sunset - advise booking a table if you don’t want to be standing. Free entry although they appreciate the purchase of a drink or two....and why not.....great place to start an evening in the big apple 🍏

60th birthday meal

By sandraridley2017 |

Wonderful views, wonderful meal, excellent staff, nice surprise birthday dessert. There was a lovely atmosphere the whole night.

Great view but over priced

By Bophopper |

Had a meal and a couple of drinks which were overpriced , but it is New York City. The view was amazing but sadly couldn’t go outside onto the terrace as it was “too cold” .... that was disappointing.

Best brunch in NY

By Tigas |

Rainbow room is glamour, is amazing. Best brunch in NY city. Delicious food, great service. Expensive but worth every dollar paid.

Beautiful veiws

By CocktailFyre |

I feel like more people have reviewed the view than the services. Cocktails were above average, but lacking that something special. I could be wrong, but I think the bartender had to Google "Brandy Alexander" when I requested one. Sure you can't know everything but be discreet?! View truly is excellent.

Wow! What a view

By Daniel K |

Great service and beautiful views made the visit worth the crowds and wait. Place was busy but they gave us great attention. Food was average but the prices were very reasonable.

Incredible views

By Mrveldon |

I arranged a Valentines Day treat at Bar65/ Rainbow Room for my wife during a visit from London. The views from the restaurant are incredible and worth it on their own. The food and drink at the restaurant were excellent too. I can see how it would get very busy though, so I suggest you book a later time to avoid the post-work drinks crowd.

Bar 65 at the Top of the Rock is amazing

By LukeLawrence |

Fabulous cocktails and beers, nice but overpriced food. But the views are what you pay the money for! Celebrating my wife’s 40th with cocktails and a meal in the rainbow room was great. The views are very distracting from everything else. Day before thanksgiving meant bigger crowds but an early booking saved a wait! I would definitely go for cocktails again!

Worth the Wait

By Melanie D |

We (three mature Australian ladies) were looking for a dinner venue that would provide us with a NYC view experience - the Rainbow Room didn't disappoint. We booked for 6:30pm which meant that we had a day view first; followed by sunset; followed by the lights of the city turning on. The view across to a fully-lit Empire State Building became my favourite NYC memory.

Christmas Brunch

By Richandcas |

Setting... excellent Ambiance ... excellent Comfort... excellent Service... excellent Food... good Price... high price for equivalent in London... very high... Santa.... best ever! Food... for clarity... There was an abundance of food. All very well presented and cooked... Very good selection. Just a bit expensive on a like for like basis.... Would I go back.... as a tourist yes....

Great views and good food

By Simon H |

Nice bar in the Rockerfella building with greats views over the city. We booked a month prior to visiting to ensure we got a table. We requested a table near the windows but were not allocated in on arrival which was disappointing. The food menu is great we had small plates with sliders and ribs both were tasty and enough for us. The cocktails were very good and some interesting bottled beers to try. If you did not have s table it was standing room only at the bar or in the middle but there are areas you can stand near the windows for the views. One criticism would be people were constantly walking around our table while eating to get to the views and take pictures. Worth a visit even if just for drinks it would be good during the day or night.

Dinner

By djack_13 |

Had dinner in Rainbow rooms. Booked for view but unfortunately was cloudy so couldn’t see anything. Food okay but overpriced for what it is. Cocktails were 20 dollars each so quite pricey. Messed up our dinner which resulted in my husband’s dinner arriving 20 mins after mine which was a shame. Took off bill but spoiled experience. Service not very good.

Average food with great views

By davejdeady |

We booked a table here on a recommendation. Food was ok, nothing special and certainly not worth the tag, but the view makes up for it. That is of course when you can see the view and you don’t have a group of people in front of you I understand that they are trying to make money as well and fair play. Just not used to people standing outside a window while I’m trying to eat. Doesn’t come close the the Toronto CN tower experience or view but it was pretty good. Service was excellent and our waiter was most attentive. Had the food matched his level of professionalism then it would have been a hands down, best meal in New York yet. Worth a visit but next time I think I’d just book a table for some drink and a sharing platter and that’s what most others seemed to be doing around us and then leaving.

Amazing View

By FPAdventurer |

The view from the Rainbow Room Observation Deck is amazing. I highly recommend going during sunset and watch the buildings and their spires light up. It is too expensive and you may find cheaper alternatives.

Wow. Just wow.

By Papagaaidq |

I was attending a conference and the organizers took over the whole floor of this restaurant. The hors d'oeuvres were sumptuous, the food was excellent, the drinks wonderful and the views spendiferous. What more can I say???

Birthday meal

By amanda m |

My daughter and I are visiting New York for her birthday and I booked The Rainbow Room for her special day . Fantastic views and lively buzzy atmosphere. Cold starters were delicious try the foie gras brûlée . The main meal arrived hot plates but cold food the waitress and manager were very helpful and sent the food back to the kitchen the new dinner arrived hot plates hot chicken some hot veg but some cold and cold sauce too . Shame because the food was a delight . My daughter was given a lovely dessert for her birthday . I’d go again but insist I got hot food

I want to leave.......but AMAZING!

By Pamela H |

Our hotel concierge suggested we go to "Bar 65" for the photo ops. As tourists making our way through the city and at the "strong urging" of "the husband" we stopped by The Rainbow Room. It is a very upscale place so I felt that I(we) were grossly under-dressed. We wanted to go up, have a beverage, get outside and take selfies and pictures of the magnificent view. I had almost gotten our group of 3 couples to leave when the husband got the upper hand. He paid the tab for the group's one beverage and we headed to the outside. Though I was terribly uncomfortable with my attire I soooooo enjoyed the view and the photo ops. My only regret was we weren't dressed in something more appropriate. Especially for the pictures! Oh well, that's what tourist wear when they visit a "hoity toity" place on the fly. Would I return? Yes and dressed up!

Always exceeds expections

By Larry F |

The Rainbow Room never fails to exceed my expectations. From the views to the food, I have enjoyed every visit. The service is always spot-on.

Elegant dining with a brilliant view of NYC

If you have someone you need to impress, for a big date, anniversary, what have you, The Rainbow Room is the ticket. Get dressed up, see NY from 54 floor above and enjoy great food and great atmosphere. The room is spectacular.

Beat the queue

By rupertwhite2016 |

Recently in New York with a New York pass and had a voucher for Top of the Rock went to use it at 8.00pm and told next trip up 10.30pm that night. Security guy said why not try the bar (Rainbow Room) There's a smart casual dress code which is good because it adds to the experience when you get up there. Many locals were in jackets and nice dresses Anyway you can see all you like from the 65th floor and theres a balcony with glass surrounds with small gaps , just big enough to get your phone to and get the photos you want. I believe the Rock observation deck is on level 80 but think the views were just as good here, not quite 360 but theres a window in the bathroom to see the bit you miss. Anyway for $11.00 for a very good beer served with a smile it was excellent , got my photos, saw the views and really liked the vibe and atmosphere. Highly recommend and if there again would book a table and have a meal.

Make a reservation

By Wallacescottb |

We visited the rainbow room and it was awesome. Views were fabulous and the drinks were good. Don’t expect bargain prices but your sitting on top of New York so this is not the place to price shop. MAKE A RESERVATION! We did and we were taken right up in the elevator.

May Be My Favorite Place In NYC

By Erica Hatfield |

The Rainbow Room has always been one of my favorite places in the city. The food is great as well as atmosphere. They keep the lights pretty dim so there isn’t a glare on the glass so you can see the view. During the summer and most of fall, you can go outside onto the observation deck. However, during the winter months, they typically don’t let people out onto the deck, but the view can still be seen from inside the bar of course. Even if you aren’t eating, the view alone should bring you here. It’s unbeatable. They put you at eye level with all the tops of the buildings, rather than above, making it so much more up close and beautiful. The rainbow room is often mistaken for Top of the Rock; however, the two are different. They are in the same building, but the entrances are in different places. Top of the Rock is open to anyone of all ages. It is only an observation deck. Rainbow Room is higher up I believe. There is a bar as well as an observation deck. You have to be at least 18 years old to be allowed in. To get to the Rainbow Room, you have to go in through the entrance that faces the ice rink. Go to the left and up the stairs. You will most likely see a line to get in. There will be elevators and people escorting you to them. There is a slight dress code. They prefer if you look nice, but you don’t have to be particularly fancy. No distressed jeans. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend coming here. You will not regret it.

Perfect Wedding Venue

Holiday Brunch Extravaganza!

By NW-K9s |

As if the views aren’t reason enough to come to the Rainbow Room...the holiday brunch is so good you may forget to enjoy those views. The gorgeous setting, filled with every type of brunch delicacy you can imagine. Truly a magical way to celebrate the holidays!

Great place

By StephenCross |

The Rainbow Room is up top of the Rockerfellow centre and is one of New York’s older landmarks. The decor is amazing. Recommended .

Fabulous

By Colin |

Fabulous all round - polite staff, boozy cocktails, tasty burgers, amazing view. Best way to celebrate in an amazing place with an amazing view and spoilt with even more fabulous cake.

Your there for the view

By Tafty1707 |

My wife and I visited for dinner on our visit from the UK. We had a great view of the Empire State. Building which is what the rainbow room is all about. The food and wine was lovely but we ate better in New York but we really enjoyed our food, experience and everyone should visit Rainbow at least once.

Fantastic Fayre

By Shagues |

My husband and I spent an evening at the Rainbow Rooms and have nothing but praise! While we were there they had a function on however it was kept very separate from the dining guests which was great as there wasn't a delay in service. The views are amazing and nibble equally great, especially the sliders!!! Overall a great night

Worth one visit

By UE_DC64 |

The view is terrific but that it is. There is no atmosphere here and it felt like the big room on a cruise ship past its prime.

Breathtaking

By GWS78 |

Make sure to go to the bathrooms. Only had catered apps and cocktails during a business reception but they were in point. The views are crazy and the best that I have experienced in NYC. To the north looking over central park.

Disappointed

By Helen |

Both myself and my friend were left very disappointed after ordering the steak. It was very tough, not cooked the way we requested and burnt around the edges. Definitely not worth the money!

Once in a Lifetime...

By Ash |

We were on a work trip to NYCand the group we were with hosted a dinner here. It was breathtaking, both the room inside and the outside view. The food was delicious although the portions were very small. Many people at our table commented that the Baked Alaska was one of the best desserts they'd ever had and I'd have to agree. An amazing venue that made for a very memorable night!

Wonderful visit

By AK6 |

Visited the rainbow room for a business lunch. The first thing that you notice is the amazing view from the TOP of the Rockefeller Center. Second, is the whiteness of the table cloths and the uniforms of the waiting team. The restaurant is laid out well, with tables at a distance and with good acoustics. Service is also discreet which makes for a great business venue. The food was also excellent especially the Black Cod that I had for the mains.

Nice view but that’s about it.

By Drabbers79 |

We booked the rainbow room to celebrate my 40th birthday and wish I had gone somewhere else. We weren’t seated next to window like requested but on a small table that was very close to the next table. The service was very poor. It took 15mins for our waitress to come take our drinks order and then another 10mins to get them. Then disappeared again for another 20mins before coming to take our food order. The food was good and they gave me a free dessert but left disappointed in the whole experience. We ended up paying after the meal to go up to the viewing area as didn’t feel we could appreciate the views from where we were sat.

What a VIEW!!!!!!!

By rafc1880 |

The restaurant with a WOW view. Specially at night/evening. Top personel, nice menu and the steak is perfect. Splendid evening.

Fabulous evening highly recommended!

By Parton |

My husband and I arrived at bar 65 on 19/09/18. This is a New York must! It was a special date evening as my husband had been away for 2 months with work. We were seated in the middle section so still a nice view of Manhattan. The service was excellent with our waiter being attentive but not intrusive. My husband ordered the chips which when served came as a huge poppadom type crisp. I ate the salmon Cornetto, my only niggle would be 6 was quite a lot to start other than that they were delicious. Mains were chicken and a steak which were both cooked perfectly paired with a lovely wine recommended by our waiter. We shared dessert a chocolate ice cream covered in a marshmallow outer which was covered in a liquor then set alight. Unfortunately as we started to eat it this became too strong for our taste and we left it. When asked if we enjoyed it we had to be honest and say we didn't particularly. The waiter very kindly removed it from our bill which was very generous. We made our way to the balcony that overlooks manhattan and the views at night do not disappoint! It was a magical evening. Great food, lovely staff and an even better view. Highly recommended!

Needs to do Better

By Raine5008 |

I have been in New York with 5 friends celebrating a friendship of 30 years. New York is special to us as we all met working for an American Investment Bank in London. We decided to book the Rainbow Room for one of our special evenings. We were greeted and shown to the bar where we enjoyed a champagne cocktail and took in the breathtaking views. We were shown to our table in good time and given menus by our waitress. We ordered starters to share (2) plus white and red wine. Starters came quickly but we had to ask two different servers for our wine which eventually came. Almost as soon as our wine arrived our main courses were served even though we had barely started our first course. I suppose we should have said something but given the occasion we were reluctant to cause a fuss. We had to repeatedly ask for water and we all felt that although the food was delicious the service was not what we would expect from such an established restaurant. The bill arrived and we noted that an automatic service of 20% had been added for ‘exceptional service’. While I will never understand the excessive tipping culture in the US, exceptional service I do get and that is not what we received. We raised our disappointment with the manager who adjusted the bill. As we were deciding what to leave as an appropriate tip, our waitress came up to us and apologised, when we tried to tell her that our dissatisfaction was with the kitchen and feeling rushed, she replied ‘but it is my tip that’s being cut’. I must say we were all rather shocked, again perhaps culturally acceptable in the US but I would certainly never expect such a reaction in the UK. We settled the bill each paying with a credit card and in fact we did leave a tip which we believed was a true reflection of the service. However, the true debacle was with paying the bill. We asked that each card be debuted with x amount. When we checked one of our party had been charged twice and with two different amounts. We raised this with the management team. The individual was told that a refund would be posted to their account but not until the end of the evening. They were told to ‘trust the team’. The member of our party who needed to pay then presented their card and was charged the incorrect higher amount. Again they were told to trust that the refund would be posted at the end of the evening. Although both credit cards were received and showing by the next day, the inability of the Rainbow Room to provide customers with immediate refunds is archaic. I think the Rainbow Room is living off past history and amazing views and while service in the US was outstanding 20 years ago the rest of the world has caught up and we can all now recognise exceptional service without being intimidated by staff for a tip.

Holiday Brunch

By snowno |

We were really looking forward to brunch yesterday, Sunday, 12/15 @ The Rainbow Room. It was very disappointing. We had to make repeated inquiries re: our 2 pm reservation and were not seated until almost 2:30. Our table was so close to the wait staff station that we were constantly aware of their activity. The waitstaff was not able to accommodate the room & service was delayed, at best. The food was abundant, but, nothing was hot, and the raw bar was room temperature. Overall, it was not worth the expense and certainly not what we expected at this iconic venue.

A breathtaking view of NY with a wee drinkie!

By JulianRob |

If you're on the 65th floor with a drink and eats overlooking NY, what can possibly be wrong with anything?

Stunning View of NYC

By Anne O |

Instead of going to the Top of the Rock for city views, we opted for the nighttime lights and drinks at the Rainbow Room. This historic spot has evolved in a good way over the years as a venue for drinks, meals and special events. It should be on the list for visitors to NYC who want to relax and enjoy the view.

Drinks with a view

By Adrian L |

Great place this! Drinks not cheap but that’s New York for you. Well worth a visit here thought and recommend booking a table so you can sit next to the windows and see the New York skyline. Great service and really made us feel welcome. Can’t fault it.

Blown Away

By LangdonH |

We came here and got early dinner on my 50th birthday. Did a bit of homework before I booked and booked a table for around sunset. We were not disappointed, to eat your dinner with a fantastic sunset over New York was a memory I will now always have - just fantastic. Staff were very pleasant, did not rush me from my table and food was good too. This really is something worth going to if you are visiting New York it may not be the cheapest of places but sometimes it’s about the whole package not just the food/drink. You will have people wandering around whilst you eat your food taking pictures but when you see the view/sunset you can appreciate why.

Great cocktails, magical views

By Jo P |

We visited Bar 65 in the Rockefeller Centre as a classier way to see an arial view of the New York skyline. Booking was easy vis Open Table and we were greeted and seated promptly once they opened. Given an excellent table looking directly at the Empire State Building but could also go out onto the terrace to see more and for photo opportunities. Dress code is relaxed. We were casual as it was early and had trekked around Central Park, some folk smarter, some corporate types. All comfortable. Cocktails delicious. Did not eat but wish we had saved ourselves as food looked amazing. Great time had by all and definitely one of the highlights of our visit

Drinks

By Alisoninglis |

After visiting the TORT and being amazed by the views we decided to go to bar 65. We waited a while to get in but staff were lovely. Drinks are very expensive but worth it for the fabulous views and atmosphere. I would recommend booking ahead to make sure you get a window seat as we had to stand which spoiled it a bit . There were tables empty the whole time we were there but they would not let us use them which I think is strange . Even if you sat there knowing g you had to vacate them for a certain time that would make more sense. Still a fabulous experience though

fantastic views and fantastic food!!

By dva |

We have been to the Rainbow Room several times each visit and enjoy the fantastic views and great food!!!

Slightly disappointed

By Aoife M |

We came here for drinks as a cheaper alternative to Top of The Rock. I was slightly dissappointed with the bar which is quite small with very little room to stand and have drinks. The tables of the restaurant surround the outer windows of the room so that people eating get the best view. However there is no separation between the bar and restaurant tables so I felt almost intrusive standing so close to parties having an intimate meal. The view is nice and the service was good however the space is very small and we felt we couldn't stay for more than one drink. It's probably worth the extra money to pay for Top of the Rock if you're only going for the view.

Truly unique experience

By 430250 |

It completely lived up to expectation. No expense spared on food, drinks, the view or service from staff. An occasion we will never forget.

Club 65 Rainbow Room

Can't beat the view, food and their cocktails. My wife and I had a wonderful time. Young vibrant crowd, quiet and the views and the sunset are to die for. A must stop if you are in NYC. Make your reservation weeks in advance.

New year's Eve Bash!

By Kenneth Pages |

What a fabulous time. I can't recommend RainBow Room for New Year's Eve enough. The band was fantastic and the Honeytaps need a definite shoutout. Food was excellent - wine pairings were separate. I think this is what new ill do every year!

A must do!

By chrisanne2015 |

We booked for cocktails at 7pm and were shown to a table at the window right opposite the Empire State Building. The BY skyline is just breathtaking. The ambiance is lovely, we found staff helpful. Cocktails were $20 each but beautifully made and presented, a lovely way to spend a pre dinner experience.

Very Disappointing

By petrina553 |

My daughter and I booked a table at Bar 65 for Saturday night for her birthday. We arrived at 7.30pm as planned but were advised that due to adverse weather they had had to close the outdoor seating area and subsequently the indoor area was very crowded. We waited 50mins for our table although the hostess was exceptionally helpful providing us with a glass of champagne and apologising for the delay whilst we waited. Once we were eventually seated we found our server to be exceptionally rude. We had to wait 20mins before he came to take our order although he wasn't all that busy. When I asked for a glass of Malbec he responded in an annoying tone that there wasn't any Malbec. I pointed out I had had a glass at the bar just previous to sitting down at my seat, he then argued that there wasn't any and who had served me with it! After going to the bar he returned with my daughter's Champagne cocktail and some orange cocktail for myself and was quite perturbed when I pointed out I had asked for a Malbec. I eventually received the correct drink. I ordered the Atlantic Cod and was disappointed to find a plate containing three tiny pieces of cod, not only that, but extremely overcooked and stone cold cod! When I pointed this out, he grabbed the plate from the table and strode towards the kitchen doors where he threw the plate onto a shelf. When someone from the kitchen appeared and asked why the plate was there his answer? "She says its cold!" Some service, eh? He eventually returned with my plate about 15mins later when my daughter had finished her meal and placed it down in front of me without a word. Suffice to say the fish had obviously been put in a microwave and although they were a little warmer were rubbery and chewy. Not a good experience. Surely when you're paying those sort of prices ($20 for a glass of little more than an ordinary wine) you expect good service. We left without leaving a tip and definitely will not be back. Very disappointing particularly for my daughter who had been looking forward to this night for months.

Beautiful Views and Food

By Bentley333 |

OMG what a wonderful experience to dine at Bar 65 with such grand views. Bret was very attentive and friendly and provided first class service.

Amazing View and Amazing Food

By nillybum2015 |

WOW what an amazing space - the views are superb and the food was really really nice. The staff are very tentative and helpful and it had a nice vibe (We went on a Sunday (late afternoon / early evening meal). It can however get very loud as you are sitting in quite close proximity to the table next to you, so take note. Its a must to book in advance as tables get booked up very quickly.

Holiday brunch

By Justin S |

We did the holiday weekend brunch at this amazing restaurant. The sheer amount of food choices was amazing. Meats, salads, veggies, pastries, cakes, desserts. Too many to try them all. There is a great atmosphere and amazing views from the restaurant. Will be a pricey meal but you will get great quality and experience and we would return.

Service was brilliant, but left disappointed

By Amy S |

10/10 for the service by the front of house staff. Unfortunately, our food took almost an hour and a half, all 4 of our meals arrived cold, and were all sent back. The manager came to apologise with some on the house appetisers etc (as mentioned, service was brilliant - really can’t knock them on that!) and once our food came out, it was lovely. They took our initial appetisers & a few drinks off the bill, but it still put a slight dampener on the evening with the initial food delays and quality unpin arrival. Views were amazing and would still recommend - especially early evening

Disappointing

By G592014 |

The Rainbow Room was once an elegant five star restaurant. It is now a bar/restaurant where the food is average at best, the noise level high and the service below par. The great view can’t save it. There are far better options in NYC. We won’t be back.

Wow just WOW!

By phillyfan2892 |

This is one of these places you hear about when it comes to New York. Down in Philly we have some really good places to eat in Philly but, this place just blow me away. Me and my wife had a really good time.

The Best Brunch Ever!

By George C |

The most incredible assortment of food you have ever seen. From fresh salmon to specially prepared meats and eggs to tempting delights for the sweet tooth, the Rainbow Room is "hands down" the best brunch you'll ever have. All this while enjoying the view of New York City from the 65th floor of this iconic building.

Astonishing

By Stephen M |

On a recommendation of a friend we book a table for four in the rainbow room It’s located on the 64th floor of the Rockafella centre in Manhattan The views were truly breathtaking and I can’t recommend highly enough booking to arrive before sunset to catch the amazing views over the whole of Manhattan It’s menu and drinks menu are very extensive but also very reasonably priced But the food I thought was of a very high standard

Wonderful food and amazing venue

By YorkshireBex |

We ate here on our final night in NYC. We shared a seafood platter, which was delicious. Lovely wine and some tasty cocktails complemented our meal. The place was superb, nice relaxed atmosphere, attentive staff and obviously an incredible view. Wonderful.

Expensive but a great experience

By Nicola R |

Everyone says the same thing unless you’re rich, it is expensive. We wanted to go for the luxury of having a drink with an amazing view. If you don’t book a table you will have to stand, horrible in heels and the toilets are up loads of stairs (they are for gorgeous tho as far as toilets go). About $25 for a gin and tonic.

Fabulous

By chips34 |

Booked about 6 or 7 weeks ago.dressed nice. Reception staff lovely. Requested a window table and thankyou I got a window table. You also emailed to say u would try and accommodate and you did Thank you The experience was wonderful we had cocktails and wine and 2 platters more than enough food for 2 it was FANTASTIC. Also service was brilliant not rushed views amazing highly recommended we may come back later in week if we can get a table brilliant thankyou x

The Classic Dane Emporium

Enjoy the greatest dance ballroom in New York City. Home to Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey, the Rainbow Room is great for parties and weddings alike. I even performed there with my own band, "Circus" in the 70's and 80's.

Awesome view and cocktails

By BridgetsEye |

Awesome 360 degree view of the city with excellent cocktails. We only popped in for one drink and the view but it was worth it. Opens at 4.30pm and you don't need a reservation if you are just having a drink. Recommend.

Good drinks but crowded

By antoniak676 |

The drinks and wine was good but the place was very crowded and if you didn't have a table reservation you had to stand. The drinks are quite expensive too. The view is super nice!

The Rainbow Room

Our work booked us a beautiful table for evening cocktails and table platters. The drinks were well crafted accompanied by the delectable view over New York city sunset and the platters were yummy indeed. We did however find the service to be slightly unpleasant from the bar. My boss was especially disappointed. None the less the flowing champagne and amber vibe was a lovely experience and how often do you get to have sundowners in the famous Rainbow Room.

Perfect view for sunset

By David B |

We came here on our last night in NYC and had a wonderful evening. Just getting up to the 65th floor is a joyful experience of red carpets and panned elevators in the stunning interior of the Rockerfella building. We were there in early April so the outside terrace was closed but the tables inside still give an amazing and uninterrupted view over the Empire State, mid town to the Hudson and Central Park, stunning! The food is high end silliness but what the heck, it went well with the cocktails and there are mid range platters if your feeling more frugal but your not here for the food! We came to see the sunset and were treated to the best view in NYC, 5* 10/10. Should also mention the excellent service and helpfulness of the staff.

Disappointing

By Scottishperson |

We were visiting New York and booked Bar 65 in the Rainbow rooms before leaving the U.K. really for the magnificent views. When we were shown to our table it was in a corner and it was really cold. All evening I had to have my sheepskin jacket around my shoulders ! We ordered a champagne cocktail each $20 each and a burger and chips $26 each. The burger was lovely BUT the chips were cold. I told our waiter and he took them away and said he would get more. By the time he came back I had finished my burger and really annoyed it had taken that long ! I told him to take them back. No compassion at all, just asked if we wanted dessert, no we just wanted out, it was warmer outside. Still took the full amount for burger and chips ! Gave the smallest tip $14.73 only because it’s NY, back home he would have got 0 ! I give one point for the view !

Pass.

Not worth it. Wanted to stop in for a cocktail -- a Tiki Lounge? Ummm, no thank you. The other bar was pretentious. With so many other awesome places to go, I'm not sure how this place survives.

Great view

By Dani P |

we reserved online a tbale at the Rainbow Room. It is much nicer to visit the bar than just the observation deck. Cocktails start at 20 and are small, but good quality, beers are 10 $ each. I recommend arriving as early as 6 pm to see the sunset, best places are at the window opposite of Empire State Building, the view of Manhaten is spectacular.

Only ok

By LJO71 |

My friend insisted on us going to the rainbow room even though we had already done top of the rock and given I love a cocktail I didn’t take too much persuasion. She booked us a table a long time in advance and I have to say I was underwhelmed. It was super busy and I had zero view as we were sat by the window but I had been seated with my back to it and we were on the side with the least interesting views we couldn’t even see the other side as there was a sea of people just stood in the middle. The cocktails weren’t that great I think people think they are as they are paying $20 per cocktail -I drink and make a lot of cocktails and these weren’t great it was ok, but not a most do in my opinion!

A disorganized Mothers Day Brunch event on May 9, 2021

By Kazuko O |

It was the most miserable Mother's Day experience in my 63 years of life. My reservation was 3:00 PM in the rainbow room. However My daughter and I were seated at 4:45 PM. When we arrived there at 2:55pm, about 200 people were overflowing at the greeting area, we were told by a greeting staff " the guests whose reservations are 1:45pm are seated now, you must wait at least one hour to be seated so you can just hang out in this area." We hadn't had our lunch, so we were already hungry. My daughter lives in Manhattan, but I live in Pennsylvania and visited her on Mother's Day by a bus. My return bus to Pennsylvania leaves New York City at 6:30PM on the Mothers Day. Then I needed to cancel the brunch, I asked the greeter to talk to the manager of Rainbow room to refund our Mothers Day brunch but what all she did was that just pointed to an elevator, and another greeter at the elevator just sent us to an elevator to the Rainbow room lobby area. Another crowd of guests were waiting there to be seated, we couldn't find the manager to ask for the refund even we asked several hostesses where the manager was. Then I gave up my return bus ticket to go back to Pennsylvania( waisted my return bus ticket) and we decided to eat there, but even at 6:00pm all meals were not carried to our table.   In the middle of COVID-19 pandemic, no social distance could keep in such an overcrowded lobby there with the overbooked guests.

Spectacular way to see in the sunset

By JoSheehan07 |

This is an absolute must if you are going to New York. Bookings are essential if you want a seated table, otherwise get there at 4:30pm to ensure you can get a standing table. We were very fortunate that we got a reserved table for a certain amount of time before the people who booked it arrived. They have a very good selection of food and drinks and I would definitely recommend the lemon ricotta fritters an absolute taste sensation. This place absolutely comes alive as you watch the sunset over Manhattan. It is an absolute must when in New York.

Really a great top location

By stefano s |

We were here for a company event in the evening with stunning results. The room itself, the very easy access, the bar room with a view and the surrounding panorama are great. Staff was efficient and always present. Thank you NYC! Enjoy!

The best view in NY

By Pedro N |

It used to be one of the best places in town: exclusive and classy. We miss a little bit of that but it is still a great place to have dinner and drinks. Reservation are in order so that you don’t have to wait for a table! Drinks are great and the view is amazing.

Booked here for my 40th birthday

By Lisa S |

Booked here for my 40th birthday meal , what a lovely place from the entrance to the actual restaurant. Everybody was so pleasant and helpful . We got a lovey seat in the corner where both of us could see outside . Amazing views of the city . We both had the cheese burger it was delicious and cooked to perfection. Waiters constantly kept your glass filled with water . Even tho the place was busy everything was timed to perfection. I ordered the New York cheesecake it was delicious and very quirky.

Great views, boring ambiance

By UE_DC64 |

This place is great for a drink while enjoying the views. But it feels too much as if you are standing in bland living room. Weird lightning choice. The drinks were ok but nothing special. Perhaps the lack of ambiance comes from the fact that the clientele consists mostly of one time visiting tourists (like us)

Rockefeller bar with views

By Ormey34 |

We loved Rockefeller centre and tower. Dont bother paying to go to top of the rock instead take a private elevator to the Rainbow Room bar for a glass of fizz with wraparound glass balcony giving way to stunning views of the square.

Valentine’s Day

5 ⭐️ restaurante with breathtaking Manhattan views. Ones in a while feels good to treat your self like a princess

Worth the view alone!

By Ashley Bishop |

Visited here over the weekend and couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Staff and servers were extremely attentive and caring, the food was exceptional as was the range of cocktails and beers, the Cheery Amour is highly recommended! What sets this bar apart from others is it’s stunning views of the city in a wonderfully comfortable and luxurious setting! Book early to avoid disappointment and enjoy the stunning cocktails and views

Best bar in NYC (or maybe even the world)

By londoner882014 |

Incredible views of the city. I visit NYC once a year and this place is always on my list. It’s a very classy/elegant place but why would you pay $34 to go to the top of the rock when you can pay less for one or two drinks to come here, have the same view, seating, and avoid the big crowds on the viewing deck. Cocktails are amazing, staff are friendly. I recommend booking (which is essential) around sunset. Then you get day, sunset, and night views.

Old school

By Balage74 |

It has a pretty old school style. Probably there was no any refurbishment since the '70s. You cannot seat with your cocktail unless you have reservation for dinner. No bar atmosphere at all, the whole place is rather to spend some time for big money on the 65th floor, for the view not for the feeling. The cocktails are very good but the place worth to visit only in nice weather to take a look to the city. Nothing else.

Mother /daughter dinner

By Shirleen O |

Amazing views with great food and service was superb, we had a table by the window so view was sunset from 5.30, place was busy but had a good vibe, stayed for a few hours and they had a live band, you can have a drink or a meal, book in advance . Wonderful experience and lift ride up was cool, was a favorite memory of NYC and beautiful views all around you , have an outside viewing deck and rooftop seating too,

Cocktails with a view

By Jemkh |

Even if you come up here just for a couple of drinks, the view is magical and you ultimately feel like royalty- surrounded by the swanky people of Manhattan and the class of New York

Impressive view - great cocktails

By Madeleine R |

This is amazing. You must book a table. Cocktails truly superb and the food - share plates - also very good. The service is exceptional and you are made to feel special. Not cheap but worth it for a great night out.

Beautiful views

By Local2406 |

And excellent service. Expensive but a luxury not to be missed. Visited as two couples in the evening when the views all around were spectacular. New York at night is a sight to behold.

Nice views of the city

By Sonya Z |

Enjoyable experience. We had not pre-booked a table; however the staff were happy to help. You have lovely views of the city.

Best views of New York

By BridgetM147 |

We booked for cocktails for 6 of us, and decided to have dinner there, we were celebrating a special birthday and decided to treat ourselves, we booked for 7pm and were a bit disappointed that the outdoor viewing area was closing as we arrived, but when we told our waiter the reason for the reservation they came over during dinner and invited just us and a couple who had just got engaged to go outside for photos, really great service. Cocktails and burgers were about $20, not cheap but this place is special, so the price was to be expected you are paying for the experience and the nighttime views of The Empire State Building and the New York skyline were spectacular. This is a great spot to visit but check what time the outside viewing area closes.

Worth the visit for the view and drinks but not for food

By mollyjones1 |

We visited the rainbow room primarily to eat and see the view. It’s a lovely place and the views and staff were amazing, however is extremely difficult to get to since the streets around are all cordoned off. I was slightly annoyed that they rang to tell us that the dress code was ‘cocktail chic’ however there were people in there with jeans and boots on. It’s not somewhere where you have to be very dressed up for. The food was very disappointing. The salmon dish and lobster brat were both cold, and one of our party suffered sickness the next day (assuming from the food). Drinks are also quite expensive but that was expected. I think there are better roof top bars to go to in New York, so probably wouldn’t return.

New Year's Eve celebrated in a Manhattan iconic landmark....

By Christine G |

The staff that worked the Black Tie Bash at the Rainbow Room on New Year's Eve 2017 were outstanding. Friendly and did their best to meet the needs of those attending. The views of the city remarkable of course. We were able to see both the ball drop in Time's Square and also the fireworks over Central Park. The room for dinner and dancing was elegantly designed and decorated. The band fantastic. Food fabulous as well. I will say I was disappointed during the cocktail hour. The room although also had great views was too small for the size of the crowd. The cost included premium open bar all night BUT they did a disservice to their guests by not having enough bartenders for this size of a group. I am the event planner for my own company and I am very aware on making certain one has the proper amount of bars and bartenders based on the size of the crowd. There should have been at least one more bar set up with two bartenders making it easier to get a drink without long lines and also making it less congested in one area of the room. Because the room was too small for the crowd, in order to get any of the offered passed canapes one almost had to stalk the servers when they entered the room in order to get any. The tasting menu was excellent with one exception. I know people enjoy their beef rare but they need to remember not everyone wants their steak mooing on the plate it was barely cooked and in my opinion not edible. Over all experience was great!

Plan ahead and enjoy

By Wallacescottb |

We visited the rainbow room bar 65 this weekend with our daughter and her husband. Luckily I planned ahead and made reservations because when we walked into the building there was a looong line. We simply walked up to the hostess and were escorted to an elevator that took us up to the top floor with incredible views of New York. The second hostess asked for my name and we were then taken beyond yet another line of people and lead right to our table. The drinks were spot on as was our food. This was not our most expensive evening in New York but it was our most memorable.

Amazing Night!

By Ykcoco |

Wasn't too sure what to expect from this place due to mixed reviews we had read. However I have nothing bad to say! Booked in advance at least 2 weeks(I recommend you do) and we were met by lovely staff at the entrance, it was our anniversary and staff were very kind to congratulate us and sat us at a table near the window. Views were amazing!!! Drinks a little pricey but expected! We had some bar nibbles, which were okay. Overall, amazing night and we felt like staff tried to make us feel special lol. Definitely worth the pricey drinks, for the amazing views!

Wow

By Perception |

So THIS is New York. A blistering view, great drinks and awesome food. I was lucky enough to be at a function with a jazz band playing. To experience New York, New York played against that backdrop is a special thing. So good I wish I went twice ....

Birthday Celebration

By Cheryl E |

We visited for cocktails after a busy day discovering New York. It was recommended to us and a great one too. If you want to go outside get yourself a ticket from the staff at the reception by the bar. We went at 6:30 and had fantastic view of the New York skyline as darkness fell. You only get 15 mins outside and the cocktails were around $20.

Fabulous Night Time View

By Karenee763 |

My daughter and I went to the Rockefeller to get tickets to go to the viewing point. However queues were big and would have to wait 45 minutes once we got ticket to go up at 11.15pm so we decided to get tickets for the following day instead and go to the rainbow room for a drink. Wow so glad we did! Night time view was lovely of the skyline especially looking over Empire State Building. Our cocktails were good too, at a cost of €20 each... but to be honest personally I think paying this for a cocktail and going up the tower to floor 62 was a better option than paying to go up the tower to floor 64 to the ‘official’ viewing area.

Incredible View, Great Drinks

By Brian C |

If you're visiting midtown Manhattan and want to get a drink with an incredible view, head over to Rockefeller Center and go up to the Rainbow Room. The views are absolutely stunning in all directions. Absolutely incredible. Great night cap spot. You cant dress like a slob, but its definitely not stuffy.

Very, VERY disappointed

By GManners |

The menu is really limited, the space is tight, tables are minuscule, service is rather mechanical and the general atmosphere lacks any sense of elegance and warmth. Electric candles, cold led light, no feeling what so ever... True they have an exceptional view, but one feels a great sense of missed opportunity to create a magical location. Forget romance or elegance at this location...

Beautiful views, lovey ambiance, good food

By irish0live |

We enjoyed our experience here, it was nice to go and the food was delicious but not worth a second trip. I think if you are in NY and have the ability to spend a little extra on a nice night out, it is a treat.

Stunning

By WifeOnTour |

Visited for drinks - stunning venue. Drinks were well made and reasonable given the views and ambience
