I was there yesterday. Unlike many Persian restaurants outside Iran offering a mixture of local and Iranian food in the name of Iranian food, this one served truly Persian food. I asked for Ghormeh Sabzi and it was as good as what was cooked by an Iranian housewife. The salad, yogurt, and other things were, also, excellent. The ambiance is not bad, however, it is more similar to the traditional Iranian restaurants where no outside sitting, or bar have been intended. This is for eating and leaving! The restaurant is located in the middle of business area of New York.

I decided to get take out from this restaurant while staying at a nearby hotel. I ordered the veggie kabobs and the arugula salad. Unbeknownst to me they also included a container of yummy hummus (the same size as you would get in the grocery), two slices of pita bread, a side salad and small containers of spices, tzatziki sauce, balsamic dressing. Everything was excellent and I had enough food for 2-3 meals. I had the leftovers the next night and was still good the next day. Waited about 15 minutes to get food. Looks like they also had delivery.

Really enjoyed my first time here--there is a large selection, the food was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and portions were generous (hardly the norm anywhere these days). The place gets busy during peak times and they don't take reservations so be prepared to wait. It's worth it.

Decided to eat in the restaurant and forgot I ordered in a year earlier with not too good results. Dining in made all the difference. They start you with fresh warm Persian bread. Looks like pita but tastes so much better. It came with a yogurt sauce and a hot sauce which were perfect. Had the chopped salad was good but not exceptional. I had the lamb kabob which was huge and cooked perfectly and moist. I would ha e like a little char, but still it was very good. Wife had the chicken kabob, which was moist and seasoned perfectly. Both came with grilled tomato and onion and rice or grilled veggies.

I thought it was okay here, but this time eggplant and dame lamb chops were half not medium rare but completely Huerdan, and the grilled chicken was dry. Cherry rice is also seasoned to eat without zumacking. Really, what's there somehow?

Nice food, including the lamb and grill veggies; good wine; however the just out of the oven bread serve is the highlight, just to taste the bread a visit is worth

My daughter and I visited with friends for lunch yesterday. We arrived to an empty restaurant, and I cannot imagine why the place wasn't swarming with customers. Our party of seven included an Iranian gentleman who guided us through the menu and I just sat back and savored every bite. I have NEVER had better chicken--moist, juicy, flavorful. All the meals were bursting with brightness and freshness. I'm gutted that I have no idea what the Persian names of our meals were, but the genius in the kitchen is to be congratulated. The service was excellent and the ambience was delightful.

I love middle eastern food and absolutely loved my meal at Ravagh! Friendly staff, reasonable prices and the yummiest bread I've had in a long time! The salmon kabob and rice were great, the red lentil soup delicious and the hummus was perfect! Bathroom was clean, but there is only one downstairs. There are a couple of locations I think, but we visited the one on 30th. It is a must dine spot!

Meat cooked to perfection. Babaganoush a little soft. Desserts nice, but not made in the restaurant. What is very ugly is the noise they make when closing the side door, they know they bother the clients as they keep apologizing, but REPAIR IR MAN!!! And also if you sit looking at the door, you will be blinded by the cars who come out of the parking lot which is just crossing the street.

looking for somewhere different in New York, this place is great, superb food, although its a tiny bit noisy. not a burger in sight.

Came here following other diners' glowing reviews. Not at all nice. The chicken was ok but the rice with zereshk was very low standard. The bread was not cooked in the tanoor, just came out of a packet. The mirza ghasemi was was not prepared properly as the aubergine had no smoked flavour at all. Staff not very friendly either. Don't waste your money coming here.

5 over 5 restaurant, I really enjoyed the food and have my favorite lentil soup . Very friendly staff and cozy place.recommend for family and friends

Really i love it. Great persian food .. very tasty.. highly recommend this restaurant ... the service is very fast and also very nice staff...

The rice was undercooked. The beef was not tender and the service was awful! They automatically add %20 to your bill for party of five but the we saw the waiter three times altogether including the initial interaction when he received our order. I do NOT recommend this business. The Persian meal is being misrepresented with their inadequate quality. Not to mention you pay a big buck for your meal. Uncomfortable a lot of people that gave good reviews are not Iranians and not familiar with persian food. I'm an Iranian and I don't like running my own Iranians out of business but I truly believed this was truly awful!

Bread is pretty good. Ordered the joja kebab, found it rather ordinary. I get better at the Iranian restaurant I eat in in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, where I work. Chicken and rest of it (rice and vegetables) was really only so-so.

Food was really good, cozy place and friendly service. I highly recommend this place. Grill meat is well accomplished

Had a fabulous meal with dear friends and the families. A veritable feast ordered by our friend and most enjoyable it was. The kebabs were cooked to perfection and the flat bread was superb. The Falloudeh we had was an interesting experience. Do go there as the food is good, service excellent and the prices not unreasonable. Enjoy.

Met up with a friend here and enjoyed their lamb and chicken kebab served with generous portion of rice infused with saffron.

Love it! To find great Persian food is a blessing. I have been to both locations. 1 in the city and other in Roselyn. Very consistent.

Have to try the lamb chops and the lamb schank. Dalia was a very nice waitress, very kind. Its "Have to go" place!

It is indeed rare to find Persian Restaurant in NYC. I wish there were more Persian Restaurants in NYC. I always like their food and happy to dine here.

We had lamb shish kabob, chicken and green rice. They were okay but not great. Still convenient in Manhattan.

This place is SOOO good, I had them cater my wedding! Always delicious. I can't recommend it enough!

A Teharni mule (or two) with a crisp ginger bite followed by a selection of hummus, eggplant & tomato and chickpea dumplings… finished off with slow roasted lamb shank in rich gravy. Good food, good service.

Every year in New York we make it a visit to Ravagh Grill. The food is absolutely fabulous and it is crowded with Persian families, making it a lively and vibrant restaurant. Kebabs and Koresh are delicious, as are the salads.

Worst Persian food I have ever ate. You can taste how frozen their meat and chicken was. Extremely bad service, the waiter ignored me intentionally multiple times. And at the end they charge you gratuity, so you are forced to pay for bad service. Not fair. Avoid this restaurant at all cost.

During my visit, I dined out at both Manhattan and Long Island restaurants. One time we ordered a mixed Kebab platter with Zereshk Rice. The other time we ordered curries with kebabs and 2 varieties of rice (Zereshk and Albaloo). The food is delicious. The kebabs were tender and juicy and the meat did not smell at all. I found the curry okay. However, that is might be my taste buds don't know what is the original taste and Iprefer food to be spicy. The meals are preceded by a free bread basket. The restaurant is a good value for money. Moreover, the staff is quite courteous. They gave us Du (yogurt based drink) for free tasting. The other time, they gave us a dish with Naan, Rice and Lentils and Egg Plant for free tasting. The serving size is excellent. The ambience is good for couples and families to hang out. The Long Island Branch is quite nice aesthetically. The washrooms are clean and spacious. Overall, good quality tasting Halal food at a great price.

Very nice place with relaxing atmosphere, good service, and interesting and delicious food. We enjoyed several appetizers and a main, and also had some dessert. As vegetarians we are always pleased when there are choices for us.

First you get warm flat bread with two great dips. Then soup or salad or apps. Finally. Kebabs. Choice of protein. And then the bill comes and it is not bad. I will return.

The restaurant offers one of the best Persian qualities in NY. Gina was the waitress and did her best.

It was one of the best meals that I ate for a while. Super friendly stuff, big portions and very acceptable prices. I only regret that I discovered this place last day of my visit.

Was looking for Halal food in Manhattan and this Resturant pop-up as the nearest place to my hotel. Resturant is bit small but it's fun for quick lunch not staying for long. The only thing I dislike is the waiters they gotta be train on haw to be nice to the customer by smiling and specially when delivering the food on table.

This NY-style Persian restaurant has three locations, but I often go to this one in Madison. Lamb is not very tasty in Japan, but the one here is delicious. The eggplant mash and tomato, cucumber, and onion salad are great. I often order takeout.

Have patronized Ravagh at its various locations over the years. Recently, I experienced higher prices and the quality of food substantially lower. Ordered eggplant lamb stew. Hardly any lamb. Chicken kabob was dry and tasteless. Loaded it up with rice. Will not return. Very disappointed.

The best kebobs we've ever had. The portions were gigantic....it was shame we couldn't get our leftovers to go but we had a day of traveling ahead of us. I'd recommend sharing anything you can - My husband and I thought we'd get a salad and kebabs and split them. Uh, no. The salad easily could have fed three people...the same with the kebab plate. The prices were really reasonable for NYC and it seemed a lot of people from the previous Persian area were also dining there. We don't eat much Persian food but knowing that people who had this from their mom's homecoming. One thing - my husband ordered a gin and tonic and the waiter obviously knew nothing about mixing drinks. He gave him gin and club soda with a LOT of gin. So only order drinks off the drink menu!

Came here last month for a friend's birthday. The food was really good. I recommend ordering the Kashk-Bademjan as the appetizer and the vegetarian kebob as your main dish. I have never tried persian food before and I was very happy with my first experience. This is a restaurant that I will definitely be visiting again in the future.

We went back to Ravagh Persian Grill restaurant again since we had a good experience a few years ago. It was great we had the same again. Great authentic persian food at reasonable price. The service was great, too. Friendly and quick. Our food was ready in no time. We decided to have lunch or dinner at Ravagh any time travel to New York City in the future.

For Persian food, Ravagh I’m Roslyn, is the best in Long Island. The food is delicious, The staff friendly and accommodating with excellent service.

Service and food were great. Hard to find a point of my experience to criticize. Very large portions as well. I would gladly eat here again.

Really disappointed in the staff at @ravagh_restaurants, left my air pods there 4 days ago, was told they were there and miraculously “someone came in and picked them up”, when last known location was at that restaurant on find my iPhone app. .that’s pretty scandalous of them. It’s on me that I left them there but to say they found them and now 4 days later “someone picked them up” sounds pretty dishonest and disheartening. Someone there isn’t telling the truth, based on principle that’s not how you treat a customer who has eaten there three times in a week . What’s even worse is I used the app to “find my iPhone and AirPods” and my last location was there, I used the “ring the pods” after I told the manager it was there and now the pods are officially disconnected. This a dishonest establishment.

Ate here with friends, and we shared a combo kebab platter and a lamb stew along with some appetizers. Everything was delicious. Even before we ordered, the smell of the restaurant was heavenly. Be sure to try the cherry rice. The pita and sauces (one mint, one garlic & yogurt) for the table were wonderful, and they left the sauces so we could put them on our kebabs. Don't miss the Persian martini with pomegranate juice. A gorgeous color. When full, it was pretty noisy and hard to have a conversation, but then it cleared out, which made a difference. Server was very helpful as we ordered, but then disappeared. Good thing we were too full for dessert!

Before you frequent a Persian eatery, it is really important to ensure that they have a seasoned and tenured chef. Ravagh has maintained its standard and quality of food due to their excellent chef. One of the best joojeh, persian tea and zereshk pulao. They have closed down on their location in Edgewater, NJ but have three locations in NY. A must try for those with a taste in Persian food. Excellent service at the 30th street location.

If you're looking for some authentic Persian food do yourself a favor and try Ravagh. I have been a customer here for the past 7 years and it's always on point. From the simplest kebab dishes to the salads, not to mention Baklava... Great spot!

We went here twice on our trip to NYC. Once we ate in and the second time we got takeout. The food is incredible. The service was decent and had a pretty good atmosphere. The takeout portions were huge! Every dish we had was perfect!! This place was great!

This time, the grilling of lamb chops went according to the order, but it was quite undulating. You don't need to tip the bill as it comes with service.

Update: three years later, I finally made it back to try the beef koobideh, as my initial review had promised. It was great! The meat is nice and tender/flavorful. Instead of the rice, I opted for the grilled vegetables since I'm currently on a low-carb diet. This unfortunately means that I couldn't enjoy any of that warm pita bread. Also, I guess my taste buds have changed this time around because I really loved that green "chutney" sauce. And I use quotes because I still don't know exactly what it is. I just know that I smeared it on everything, along with that yogurt sauce. To finish off the meal, I tried the Persian ice cream (pistachio, saffron, and rose water). Lots of flavor, but if you don't like rose, you won't like this. Can't wait to come back and try some other dishes. Hopefully next time, it'll be less than three years.

This review is for the 11 E 30th St. Manhattan location Walked in off the street at 7pm on a Thursday night and was seated right away. Ordered hummus, sambuseh and burani bademjan as appetizers for our party of three, and between those three tasty options and the wonderful pita bread with two dips, were nearly full prior to the arrival of our main courses. The lamb shish kabob and chicken sultani arrived with a huge mound of rice, and the Mediterranean shrimp salad equally bountiful. Suffice it to say that we took a good portion home with us. All for under $30 per person including tax and tip.

First foray into Persian cuisine. Staff were friendly and professional. French martini was mixed well and was excellent. My wife's cornish hen was tender and delicious. Nothing spectacular, just good, solid food with very good service. Restroom was clean which is a big plus in Manhattan. Well worth a visit

We are so delighted with the incredibly delicious food that it merited a review. We have tried everything and not one dish has been a miss. It’s like eating at your Persian grandmothers home with tastes that are joy inducing. Our teenagers request this since trying it and it’s healthy as well. Our current favorite restaurant.

The menu has enough varirty. The basmati rice was well prepared. I enjoyed the complimentary bread and two dips (dill yogurt & sour herbs). Barg kebab had good flavor but overcooked. The ambience is average. I was disappointed by the smell coming from basement but I was told they are cleaning it. I will choose this restaurant if only Im in the neighborhood but there are better choices if you want yo experience persian food.

I ordered from an online menu and the majority of the prices on the receipt were higher than on the online menu, one was $8 or $9 more! When I called and spoke to the manager, he said he would call me back and never did. They also add $1 open table surcharge because you’re using a credit card. It’s a rip off. The food is good, portions are big but it is also overpriced. I have also eaten in the restaurant. Service is mediocre and can be slow if they’re busy.

We were looking for somewhere close to our hotel that appealed and looked like good value. We were not disappointed. Flavorful food, excellent quality, great service and a good value all around.

Lovely food, great big plates and good value for money. Off the beaten track but serving different food to the norm. Would recommend the Kebabs, or Kebobs as they call them.

Love, love, love this place!!! I have been here numerous times and the sultani kebab never fails me. It's juicy, tender, and super tasty. My favorite kebab place in the city.

Overall a very enjoyable dinner. The restaurant is nicely decorated with intimate little tables and some long ones for bigger groups. The hummus was simple but good. The chicken kebab had great flavor. Overall too much rice was served with the dish. The tziki and green sauce were very good.

Was our first restaurant after coming to NYC on holiday. The restaurant was on the same block as our hotel so we just wanted something nearby. The venue appeared nearly full but we were seated straight away and staff were friendly and we were given water and bread and dips whilst we chose what to order. After ordering, we waited 20 minutes or so and no food had arrived. Another couple (who had been seated after us) had their mains brought out to them. I thought maybe it was because they had ordered something different so we gave it another 10 minutes. When we asked the waiter, he appeared puzzled and walked off to the kitchen and disappeared for a few minutes. When we saw him again, we had to call him back over and he said the food was on its way. Clearly we had been forgotten about and the waiter had to order it for us. By the time we were given our food, around 45 minutes had passed. No apology was offered. I had a lamb stew with rice and my girlfriend had a chicken kebob. My lamb was very tasty but very fatty and the portion was small. The girlfriend's was larger and tasted good. Not a dining experience we wanted when we had been travelling all day and were jet lagged. Hopefully it was a one-off but we didn't go back to see. The food was reasonably priced and the decor was nice. Restaurant was clean. Didn't have any alcoholic drinks or dessert there so can't comment. Let down by the slow service, lack of apology and the very fatty lamb stew. The venue does take-aways and the staff were constantly up and down through the restaurant with the meals in their boxes and bags taking them from the kitchen at the back to the entrance and the front. It kind of detracted from the ambiance some what.

Excellent- not sure why I haven’t already tried Persian food before. The place was very clean and service was excellent. Very affordable too. I had the Chicken shish kabobs and the sambuseh fried dumplings. Oh and the rice- all were out of this world delicious- you must put on your bucket list to try Persian food!

I had lunch there with my husband last week, worse Persian food I have ever had. Service wasn’t good the server had an attitude.

Food is great and so is the staff. During winter its pretty hold however. Also there is no signage outside making it hard to find.their barg is really steak but still good

We'd been doing business via Zoom for awhile but never met face to face, so when I traveled up to New York, we arranged to meet at Ravagh (his favorite restaurant in the city). Ravagh's Lentil soup is the best I've ever had, even after living/working in the Middle East for nearly 20 years. All the other dishes were sensational too. Portions are mammoth in size, so it's easy to get three or four meals out of one. The ambiance is attractive but also noisy and a bit hectic, but that's a small price to pay for food this good.

I have been here before, and I might have written a review about them as well, but I can hold it, it is indeed one of the best hotels in NYC in my opinion and one of the good iranian restaurants in the world. You must try it

This place was highly recommended to us so even in our short trip to New York we made an effort to check it out. First noticeable thing for us turned out to be how discreet it was. We were at the street walked up and down couple of times before we could figure out. We ordered quite expensive Lamb chops and some rice with gravy dish and both dishes turned out to be quite ordinary. I mean there was no wow effect that I made up my mind for since it came with high recommendation. I realized and understood that for people living in US, this could be quite an authentic Persian taste but not for us. We have had privilege of trying some amazing Persian food in Dubai. Ambiance was just like any other restaurant, nothing to mention there. Staff was reasonable and polite. I would only recommend this if you have not tried Persian food before.

Great food, Great service, Comfortable Vibe. I would definitely go back and recommend it to family and friends

The took the meat platter and it was mouthwatering. The taste and the flavor was just perfect, and make sure you order the cherry rice it’s not to be missed.

This place offers awesome tasty kebabs and grilled delicacies. If you're looking for quality halal food... this is a must have. Staff is veey friendly, and serving portions are quite large usually. Food is well cooked, juicy and rich in taste. Ambience is good, though feels a bit congested, but you'll forget about it once you start eating.

I have made a point of going to this restaurant every time I visit NYC. Their Beef Barg (shish kabob) is excellent along with the fresh baked thin bread (looks like NAAN).

We went there the night before Thanksgiving! Ravage Restuarant is located in a very nice part of the town between Madison and 5th off of 31st St. Restuarant has a very nice decoration with the hint of Iranian design. It took us couple of hours to go through our food (appetizers, main and dessert with tea); and at the end we gave Ravagh 3/5. There are two main reasons for our average ranking .... unfriendly staff and food that didn’t have authentic Persian taste/flavor! Having said that food presentation was amazing! I wish I could have said the same thing for their tastes/flavors!

The food was great and the service was quick and friendly. They also have alcohol, although I did not have during my visit.

pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff, great Persian food, both starter and main course and dessert, the prices I personally found a bit expensive, but what the hell, in the middle of New York, a few minutes walk from Times Square,

Very busy place, we came at 7pm during the week day and were told wait time will be 20-25 mins, but instead we were seated in 5 mins! Food was great, we tried starter with eggplant - it was delicious!! For the main course I had lamb shish kebap and meat was soo soft! and yet it was well done. Service was good. I give it 4 starts only because it was too noisy, restaurant consists of 2 levels, we were sitting downstairs, where ceiling is quite low, and it was very loud, difficult to talk, i personally don't like when it's that loud, that's why for me it was a downside, but would definitely recommend for the food!

The service could definitely improve at this restaurant! That's what we felt after the dinner.. the food is great taste actually.. one of the best Persians I have tried but the service definitely needs an uplift.. we ordered almost everything off the menu in terms of kabab and it was great!!

We found that restaurant ocasianally as we stayed in a hotel next to that restaurant. We have been suprised about th quality of the food, the meat was fantastic, the service well and fine and everything more than okay. The prices are reasonable and okay. We can recommend that restaurant fully. Nowadays it is difficult to find a place to eat in that area in New York for reasonable money, that is one.....

Worst restaurant I ever had been to in New York. Starters tasteless, kebobs big portions, but the meat quality very low. Service a catastrophy, loud, stressy, cheap, nothing similar to a nice and cosy restaurant, where you can enjoy your meal. Hygiene to be questioned, bathrooms very dirty. Avoid the restaurant, it is not worth it

This is a long pending review of an amazing restaurant. Been here twice with big groups and I mean really big, 38 once and 20 just yesterday. I always asked to be seated upstairs which is more spacious. Each time the waitstaff has been super patient, friendly and attentive. The drinks are great, not watered down like some places and the food is amazing. Pretty much everyone loved what they ordered. My favorites are the traditional kashk bademjan and sambusa, though pretty much you will not go wrong with any appetizer. The entrees amazing specially the kababs and stews. A grade and great ambience. What more can you ask for ?

We've been to both the 66th location and now 30th. I like this one off of 30th better, it is nicely decorated, the food came out promptly but we were in no way rushed, and everything was delicious. A very nice Persian evening.

Looked up the rest and saw reviews praising the rest for the food. Ranked in the top 25% which you would assume that the food would be great. Showed up and got seated. Went right away to wash hands. Horrible bathroom. We ordered a hummus and a salad plus their supposedly popular dish kabab Sultani. Honestly the hummus was below average and was the best dish among the salad and the kabab. Salad was absolutely tasteless and the kebab was awful. Don’t recommend the rest at all. Unfortunately could have been much better.

Ravagh catered my party and I couldn't be more pleased. The presentation of the dishes sent was great. The food delicious and on time. I love going to Ravagh for the great Persian cuisine but loved using them for my party as well. Very reasonable. Thank you!

One of the best grill that I have eaten! Very tasteful! Worth to taste! The place is small. Croustade! But due to the excellent food it is worth to come and try this!

Great Food, Horrible Service ! We visited this place on Christmas Eve 2017, the place was packed. We came at about 7:00 pm and the hostess (on duty) was curt. We do understand that the place was packed but courtesy should not be let go at any cost. She did make up for it by getting us seated in 20-25 mins. The food was great. We were a party of seven and ordered two Combo platters which were well cooked and tasty. The waitress was courtesy & professional, no issues there. The prices are moderate and good value for the money. The three stars above are for the lack of courtesy by the hostess. Great Food, Horrible Service !

Ordered in. One lamb kabob. One chicken kabob, but with that special rice with berries (for $3 extra per dish). It came with a small plain salad and Persian bread. Nice sized portion with grilled tomato and onion. Disappointed in the dried out lamb and the dried out chicken. Also there was little or no char or taste. The rice was good, but not my style. The bread was tasteless. Well, we gave it a try.

Ravagh is another fine NYC restaurant with outstanding and delicious food. My wife and I had a type of "beef stew," and the portions were so large that we took some of it home. I highly recommend Ravagh.

Very tasty Persian food in a warm family friendly environment. Try the hummus and chicken kebabs. Friendly staff. Meat is halaal. A must try.

One of my favourite hotspot in New York. found this restaurants around 7-8 years ago. it was small with good persian Kebabs, stews and much more and now it grew up to a super hot location. Food is still outstanding.

The entire meal was fantastic...the appetizers and the lamb stew, but the standout was the rice with cherries! I am going to be dreaming about that rice for the rest of my life. The staff were attentive and friendly; the atmosphere was hospitable. Thank you.

Small but very nice place, quick service, attentive staff but, above all, tasty and delicious persian food. I had the lentil soup (great!) and the sultani kebab (chicken) which was excellent! As dessert, had the baklava, really good.

This is the third time I've eaten here and it is still very good. I went with 3 other people and we all enjoyed our meals. We shared babaganoosh, chopped salad, and dolmeh (stuffed grape leaves) as appetizers. I had the lamb chops kebob which were very good. My GF had barg (tenderloin steak) kebob, which was excellent.

Of course after asking my hotel I got this nice persian restaurant Every thing is great The koshk badeonjan and shobzi stew. Very good also The mint tea is real nice The staff very friendly and helpful

The guy who served us was really good. We were a party of 6 plus baby, we didn't have a great table (near toilets and noisy dish clearing station). Atmosphere was ok, food was ok to bland.

I ate here on a trip to New York in April last year and then recommended it to my Mum who visited in September. We both absolutely adored the food. It was served beautifully and tasted incredible! The fresh cut chips were delicious! All round great food and service, highly recommend and will definitely be visiting again when I come back to New York!

My Persian coworker took me here to introduce me to Persian cuisine and I fell in love. The koobideh and the Kashk bademjan are my absolute favorite. My company was around the corner on 31st street and all of my coworkers would constantly order from here, dine here for lunch, or even bring our clients here. Service is always great and the food always satisfies.

We found the restaurant in tripadvisor and we had lunch over there with family. The food was very average, the taste wasn't a real persian/Iranian food (we tried Fesenjoon and Zereshk Polo), Kabab was alright. The service wasn't good as well. I haven't tried other Iranian restaurants in NY to compare, but by far it was below other persian restaurants in London.

We have been to the branch of this restaurant on First Avenue (near 67th) and had a very good meal. Unfortunately we did not enjoy the meal at this restaurant as much. We were a group of seven. The stews were not as good neither was the specialty rices. The Kebobs were very good. The service was slow and uninterested. It took forever to get our bill and pay it. The reason for the uninterested service was obvious when the bill arrived: a gratuity of 20% was added to the bill already. They still had the audacity to have a space on the payment for "additional gratuity"!

We went to the restaurant in the 30's and it was fabulous. This uptown sister falls short of its original.

I really like this place. The ambiance is nice and it keeps me coming back over and over again. The food is great with decent portions. The service is also great! Nice and friendly servers. Not many halal places in the city that are this nice. I usually try to make a reservation when I'm going with a group.

This has good Persian grill food. A group of us were there for dinner as part of a business meeting, which is not great, as it is noisy, We decided to forgo the business and eat and began with some appetizers and salad and there warm bread. It was good. I had the chicken kebab. Some pieces were very juicy and delicious. Some were dry. The prices are high, so I would suggest considering other places to compare.

Really nice persian food with a lot of taste. Good service nice for families and larger groups. Service is good and place is clean

We enjoyed the meal very much. Service was average but good attention was paid to our food allergies.

Amidst the commercial atmosphere of the Garment District lies Ravagh Persian Grill. The restaurant facade looks unassuming, but the inside is like an ornate Persian carpet, woven with rich tapestries. The food and service were better than the outward appearances. Our table enjoyed the Kashk-Bademjan, an eggplant mixed with tomato and yogurt, and the Hummus served with fresh baked pita bread. A Shirazi Salad of diced cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions and parsley in lemon vinaigrette was very soothing. The traditional kebob platter of Barg (sirloin), Jujeh (Cornish hen) and Koobideh (char-grilled beef) with Albaloo Polo (Basmatic Rice over cherries) and Green Rice with fava beans were very delicious and filling.

Must try if you love Persian food. Wonderful food, good value, great service and lovely atmosphere. The chicken Kobideh was great!

We went for dinner. Honestly speaking guys it was one of the best and juicy meat I have ever eaten in NY

Sometimes the first time you eat at a resturant , you love the food, but the second time, the food doesn't live up to your expectations. Not so at Ravagh's Persian Grill! The Baba Gnoosh is the best I've had anywhere! Everything we ate was exceptional. It was very busy on a Monday night, which tells you a lot.

I visited Ravagh Restaurant in NYC yesterday, a place I have been to multiple times before. The food is consistently very good, the vibes are pleasant, and the service is decent overall. I ordered the sultani kabab this time, and the beef was outstanding. The flavors and tenderness really stood out and made the dish memorable. Their service could use some improvement, and while the food is enjoyable, it is not fully traditional Iranian cuisine. They include several Middle Eastern dishes that are not part of Persian culinary customs, which seems to be a choice to cater to their regular customers, many of whom are Arab. Overall, it remains a solid spot with delicious food, and I give it 4 out of 5.

The food is a trash ! It's waste of money. The rice was not cooked well, the kabobs were terrible. the waitress was not polite

I pride myself to have toured most of the world. My family and I are fond of Persian food. We never miss a meal at this place whenever we are in NY. Foos is as great as you will eat in lush places in Persia. Great taste of appetizers, soups, and msin dish. The softness, and rich flavours of their meat is fenomenal. Will try the other branches in our next visit. You dhould too.

I have always made a point of going to this restaurant whenever I am in NYC. I have always had a good experience. This time the service was good as always , however, it was a hot & humid day and it was hot inside as well. When I mentioned it to the waitress, she said when it gets hot, our air conditioning doesn't work! The food wasn't as good as usual either & the ambiance was really crowded, we had ordered the usual Chelo Kabob Barg. Overall it was not a good night out for me here this time . It was too hot to enjoy.

The always reliable grilled meat, the lamb chops, are well marinated and delicious. It's not cheap by any means, but the quantity and taste are enough to satisfy you.

This restaurant is immaculate! Food is delicatessen! Service is excellent & prices are just perfect! Family oriented place as well as perfect for business dinner meeting! Everything on the menu is delicious! Great place for parties on the second floor & having the food is even better. Enjoy! We always do!

Just ate here on a busy Sunday night--everyone got a table, service was attentive and professional. The food is authentic Persian--tasty rather than hot spicy--everything fresh. I brought home half my dinner after splitting an appetizer salad. The restaurant was not noisy--it was easy to have conversation even when all the tables were full. Lovely dinner--thank you Ravagh! We'll be back!

My wife and I saw Anthony Bourdain's trip to Iran and were intrigued by the food he'd eaten, so when we visited NYC we found this restaurant. We were very fortunate to have our waitress Dalia who was very well versed in Persian foods and accommodating to our needs. After listening to our preferences she was on point with her recommendations. We did try other foods i.e. the yogurt drink which I really didn't like, which I realized if it weren't for Dalia's recommendations and simply ordered by guess, our experience would've not have been as enjoyable. Turns out we love Persian food and will definitely continue to explore more Persian restaurants both locally and when we travel.

We went for an early lunch, and the place filled up fast. Great stews with a different taste. Try the pomegranate sauces, Tender lamb shish kabobs , and the shaved rosewater ices (faloodeh) are a must.

We are used to eat Persian food in Denmark and the portions we get there is half size of what we got at Ravagh. The meat was delicious marinated and juicy. Tasted very good. Definitely a great lil gem in nyc. They have around 50 seats in the restaurant. And not to forget that they have Halal meat.

On arrival we waited a little while for a table as the upstairs section was closed. But it got busier so they opened the upstairs section so we were then seated immediately. Fantastic food, decent sizes so don't order too many dishes, and all very well priced for downtown Manhattan. The staff were very helpful, and the wait was not too long for the food. They are open 11-11 and they don't take bookings for small tables so get in early, lunch is also a bit cheeper than dinner. If you like authentic persian food, or even if you don't, give this place a go - you will not be disappointed !

My wife and I were in New York for 3 days. We really wanted to try original New York steak. We found this restaurant, and ended up going there all 3 nights instead of having New York steak. We just tried their crispy rice (Tahdeeg) with stew (Gheimeh) and Koobideh beef kabob every single night. We just couldn't jump to another recipe. I loved their fresh hot bread and sour oil mixture (torshi) that they were bringing as starter. I would definitely try this restaurant again, and this time I will try to convince myself to have a taste of their other delicious dishes besides Koobideh beef Kabob, too.

I lived in Tehran in the late 70's and since there isn't a Persian restaurant where I live, I wanted to go to one in New York and have the whole "Persian Experience" and I certainly wasn't disappointed. The service was wonderful, the food delicious, the prices reasonable and the other customers welcoming and willing to indulge my desire to speak some Farsi to them. Loved it!!!

Great place for Persian food. The Babaganoosh and Kashk bademjan were great. as was the shirazi salad. The lamb chops and lamb kabob were amazing - cooked perfectly.

We enjoy this type of food and I was happy to see many options in the area. Although after reading many reviews it was difficult to determine which place to pick. This one happen to be nearer to us at the time so we gave it a shot. When we arrived the place seemed full. Luckily for us, they had an upstairs. We didn't have a bad experience with our meal or service. The warm fresh bread and dips were nice including the extra babaganoosh & shirazi salad we ordered. The Kebobs were tasty and plentiful. We had a beef & chicken Sultani Kebob. The rice and grilled vegis were also very good. We enjoyed our meal and certainly would return.

Ravagh is Persian Restaurant beautifully decorated at prime location in Manhattan near Empire State building. Food is very tasty especially lamb and chicken items. Serving size is much bigger suitable for minimum 2 persons.

I love this place. My father is from Iran and this is the closest to his cooking I have ever tasted outside of our home which is a very big compliment as Iranian culture is a home-cooking culture. Every person I have ever brought here raves about how much they loved it, especially those who have never tried Persian cuisine before. This particular trip to Ravagh was no different. I dined with some family members who know Persian cuisine well and one guest who had never had it before. All were hugely impressed and said they would definitely be back soon. They've recently done some updates at this location and I really like the new layout and decor. It's always relatively quiet so this is a good spot if you actually want to have a conversation with your dinner.

Came here for dinner on a Wednesday. Restaurant was quite busy but we got a table right away. Food was very good and came quickly. Especially the appetizers, eggplant on tomato sauce and the stuffed peppers were fabulous. The chicken kebob was well cooked and tasty also. The wine was excellent and the pricing is very reasonable for a restaurant in Manhattan. Great place, and they even have wifi for the iPhone addicts.

Visited New York City for Christmas. My husband is Persian and wanted to eat at a real Persian restaurant. Boy, we found it! You cannot visit New York City without a visit to Ravagh Persian Grill on 30th Street! We walked from our hotel in Times Square to this location. They greeted us warmly as we entered the restaurant and immediately took us to a table with warm bread, dips and took our beverage order as we sat down - so inviting! The room is quaint and perfect and filled with amazing aromas. We ordered an appetizer of feta cheese, basil, mint, and radishes - so delicious. We each ordered the sirloin kebabs - the best we have ever had! Tender, melt in your mouth, kebabs with grilled tomatoes and onions along with basmati rice. The hot tea was amazing. We were stuffed so we didn't try the dessert. But we will be back the next trip to New York - possibly eating there every day of our trip. Thank you, Ravagh!

Whenever we are in the City this is a must stop for us. Delicious authentic Persian food. Staff is always friendly.

Liked the hummus. The beef and lamb kabobs were good, though the last cubes of meat on the kabobs were over cooked. Overall enjoyed the meal. Would gladly come back.

I enjoyed my visit to this location, as I have also been to their Long Island restaurant as well. The menu is similar. The portion sizes are quite large and the prices are reasonable. I enjoy the various rice dishes, veggies and kebabs. It's worth the trip to try one of their dishes. The atmosphere is nice too.

I love persian food, but this place is far from being a persian restaurant, it is like beeing in a big burger place. It is loud, stressful, and you do not find a single persian working there. You have the impression it is all about serving as many table per night as possible: we sat down, a quite unfriendly guy took the order, we had the entree in 2 minutes (kashke bademjoon and sth else, both not bad, althuogh the kashke had little kashk and a lot of tomato in the eggplant). We had not yet finish the entree, when the maincourse came and our entree plates where taken away. Maincourse: Rice cold, meat was o.K. (2 barg) but we missed the good persian flavor from the bbq, the tadik came again a couple of minutes later, it was cold and pure potatos, no rice. You do not feel like really enjoying the dinner, because of the quality, the noise, the running and unfriendly personal, so even we ate a lot quicker than normal. After finishing again quickly the question for dessert, if you dare to say no, a second later you have the cheque. We tried to talk to the waitor, but there was just no interest. So, if you look for a nice evening in a persian restaurant then do not go there, if you look for very medium, partly cold, food, quick in and out, then it may be the place.

Good abundant food at good price. The bread was wonderful and, tho noisy, the setting was great. Service excellent. I would return

Food was excellent. Well prepared, Service was excellent. We had a party of 16 people, and the restaurant on 30th Street accommodated our needs in superior manner. First, they did not get in the way of our conversations ( family get together, ) nor did they fall short of filling our water glasses as needed. Oh yes, the food was excellent. Salad Olovieh Panir Sabzi Torshi Traditional Kashk-Bademjan Chicken Koobideh Kebob Khoresh Fesenjan Bronzini Koobideh Kebob These were all so very tasty, just writing this review makes me hungry again. Also, parking at a garage accross the street is great. Ok, you must pay $15-25 to park there. Not bad. Facility bathrooms were clean, the table has white cloth tabletop and napkin. Nice. They offer a WINE menu.

Ravaghs are the best authentic Persian restaurants in the area but the service in this branch can be better

We had their Fesenjoon dish with white rice. I was not too impressed with the sauce. The pomegranate sauce needs to be more sour. The barg kabab was done well. It was flavorful and tender. We tried their babaghanosh and mirzaghasemi appetizers the babaghanosh was blah but the mirzaghasemi was good. Drink service was slow and needs improvement.

Really enjoyed this meal. 2 of us had a good 3 course meal on our last night in NYC.. Seated very quickly, friendly attentive staff. Food came out much faster than expected and was very tasty. Price is very reasonable and I would recommend this place to anyone.

We tried this place in sept on our visit to see our daughter who lives in NYC. She highly recommended this place. We had the hummus, mediterranean chopped salad and chicken shish kebob. Hummus had lot of flavor, the kebabs were juicy and nicely grilled. Good persian food. Portion size is very good. Defintely a place to try. Service was fine. We did not have any problems with it.

Great food, nice decor. The food seemed to be tasty dishes of fresh food prepared in a simple healthy way.

I have always been a fan of Persian food and have been to a lot of Persian restaurants. This one excelled all of them. Highly recommended. Book your seats before!

The food was excellent, but the customer service was disappointing. The Turkish waitress was rude and seemed unhappy. Initially, I told my wife that maybe she was just having a tough day, so we tried to overlook it, but her attitude became unbearable. It felt as though she treated us poorly, possibly because we don’t look like her. To make matters worse, they added a $25 tip without our permission.

When in town this is my favorite place to go. Great authentic persian food at reasonable price. The hummus and pita bread is delicious, and the kebabs are very tasty, a good choice. Good service.

We had the Khoresh Bademjan (lamb stew w/ tomato and eggplant) and Chicken Koobideh Kebob! The rice was real good and the sauces they give as appetizers with pita bread as starters were so good we kept asking for more of the sauce which they did! For the price paid, I thought it had great value with the atmosphere and the tasty dishes.

Went to Ravagh for dinner. It was quite crowded and noisy but we simply enjoyed our meal. We ordered hummus, babaganoosh, shish kabob with rice, pyramid cake and sorbet; everything is tasty, especially the kabob, tender and juicy. Service was a bit slow but worth the wait.

Persian food, staff friendly. Their signature “Barg” looked different than traditional Barg! The beef was more chunky and tasted slightly different but good. It’s a small and busy spot so wouldn’t recommend it for first time date.

As a lover of Persian food I can say this one of the best restaurants due to quality , taste, price and quantity. you can smell the traditional Persian cuisine especially the stews . sure I will return back whenever I visit New York City .

Came on the recommendation of a colleague who is an Iranian scholar at NYU. We had a most enjoyable evening. The service was friendly, attentive and quite helpful in describing the nuances of the dishes. We judged the lentil soup to be better than the Ash Reshteh since the noodles were mushy. The Sambuseh, sort of a chick pea samosa, was dry and not very tasty. The chicken kebab was excellent while the Khoresh Gheymeh beef stew was very good but less meaty than I would've liked. The torshi accompaniment was pretty vinegary. It must be an acquired taste. The hit of the evening was the bread and dipping sauces. We asked to take some of the cilantro/lemon chutney home with us it was so good. All in all, we would return. It was fun. Note: we were at the midtown location, which is one of three in the area.

They made up for my previous visit. I always enjoyed coming here except the prior visit to this one was not great. So when we got there, I told the hostess that I really had to drag my family here this time because of the not so pleasant experience of the previous visit. She apologized and they more than made up for it. We sat all the way in the back on the 2nd floor. If you sit in the middle, you get bumped a lot. Ordered a variety of meals for the 5 of us. Chelo Kabob Barg, Joojeh Kabob, Khoresht Gheimeh, Zereshk Polo, and for starters ordered, MustoKhiar, Salad Shirazi, Kutlet. It was great with their bread.

It’s a busy place on Friday evening. First thing that impresses you is the attention of the staff to make you comfortable. Food is very authentic Parsian, we started with stuffed bell pepper - flavour and taste and oh yeah, the portion was too good. This was followed by lamb stew in pomegranate sauce, excellent and comes with flavoured long grain rice. Next was lamb kebob - juicy, well done lamb done to perfection. Portions were sufficient to fill three of us. We forced ourselves with Baklava to end a great dinner experience. The noise level in the restaurant with people chatting along, enjoying the food speaks of its popularity. Great dining out experience in mid-town New York.

Persian food can be hard to find where I live, and we were very happy to have visited this restaurant. All the food we tried was excellent. The standout for me was the Koresh Fesenjan. A delicious sweet, tangy, savory stew of slow cooked chicken in a wonderful thick sauce. The stew is made with roasted, crushed walnuts and pomegranate molasses and is one of the most delicious things I’ve eaten. It is served with plenty of basmati rice to soak up the delicious sauce. It was a very reasonable $18 at dinner. While the food was excellent, the service was kind of abrupt. We took a little time enjoying a drink and reading through the menu and were asked every three minutes to order. It was obvious the waitress was a bit annoyed, but it was a large, unfamiliar menu and I didn’t like being rushed. The atmosphere was fine, although a little noisy. Even with the slight issues, I would return tomorrow for the wonderful, affordable food.

Great fresh food, excellent service, lots of menu choices, good location off of Fifth Avenue, best grill in he city. Highly recommended and would defiantly come back for more 👍👍👍👍👍

Very nice restaurant, attentive and kind staff, excellent food. The truly delicious hummus; excellent value for money.

The food on this restaurant was on average and it's normal testing ... service was good and also staff helpful...

Probably the best kebab you will ever have. Madison ave is a new location and lacks the comfort and ambience of 30th. New to this location is tables as small as 4, automatic 20% gratuity.

Really really fresh, delicious, well presented dishes. Welcome bread and dips are yummy. Make sure you leave extra for eating with the main meal. Or ask for additional portions. The yogurt dip is awesome with the chicken. Huge portions. We usually share one meal between two people. Very good value for money. Can substitute grilled veges for rice. Lunch special is very filling. Prefer this location to the others as we have found the people and service the best here. Wait persons are very helpful in recommendations. We love the food here. The ambiance is great. The people are wonderful. Will go back today!

The food here is authentic persian and really tasty! Huge portions. Reasonable prices. Good service Ps: there is usually a waiting line...

I used to go here a lot, until I went in June and lost all hope for this place. I was having lunch and my back was turned to the front door. There was much commotion, and I noticed a guy in the kitchen with what looked like a bug spray machine. I continued eating, and noticed the four people next to me had left even though they didn't eat. I finished my food, paid and, as I was walking to the front door, I noticed a sign on it. The door was locked, and I couldn't get out. They showed me out from the side entrance. When I went to the front to read the sign, it was a notice from the department of health. The four people who were seated next to me there talking and they looked at me like, OMG.

On arrival to the restaurant we got pushed into the bar to await to be seated, as the restaurant was "busy", even though there were only around 4 tables occupied. Asking the bar lady questions about the menu, she said she could not answer the questions, as she works in the bar, and not the restaurant. We found this quite.

My husband and I have been coming here for 5 years. I always start by getting a pomegranate Martini. The atmosphere is calming and the waitstaff is very attentive. We usually order the Barg kabobs with Cherry jasmine rice. Absolutely 😋. I can't wait to go back!

Our friend measured the decibels and said it was as loud as a garbage disposal! No sound absorbing decor materials. Very crowded. I called to reserve for Saturday at 7 and was told no reservations accepted. When we arrived, we were asked if we had a reservation. ??? The food is standard kabobs and well charred vegetables on enormous platters. But we won’t be back. Most NY restaurants are too loud to enjoy. We couldn’t hear our friends.

Had dinner here on a Sunday after a show, so glad we did! The food was excellent, service was excellent, nice atmosphere. I had the sirloin barg kebob, rare, and it was perfectly cooked. Will definitely come again!

Babaganoush Dinner $10.00 1 Stuffed Pepper Dinner $11.00 1 Khoresh Fesenjan Dinner $22.50 Went to location on first Avenue and then grabbed sushi across street at Roy’s Fish market. Everything delicious

We were on a very short visit to NYC and wanted to eat some good food. I asked my niece who lives there and she recommended Ravagh Persian Grill. The food was great from the appetizers to the dessert. My favorite appetizer was the kashk-bademjan and my main course, the chicken koobideh kebob, moist and very flavorful. At our table, the teens with us had the salmon kebobs, and like the chicken, they were very flavorful and well cooked. I also like the fact that we did not feel rushed to eat our meal. I would definitely eat there again on a future trip to NYC.

Made a pretty long walk to get to Ravagh and glad we did. Place was busy and stayed busy. Always a good sign. All of us enjoyed our entrees ranging from chicken to lamb. We all agreed though, that we enjoyed the appetizers more than the mains. Stuffed grape leaves were super. If I ever go back, I’ll order like a tapas place from the starters and maybe share an entree.

There are several Ravagh restaurants - in Manhattan (3?), and another, which I reviewed previously/separately, in Roslyn/East Wiliston, Long Island They are actually ALL very very good, AUTHENTIC Persian restaurants, service delicious food, at reasonable prices. This specific review (and photos) are for the 11 East 30th Street Ravagh, in Manhattan. Ravagh serves delicious, and very authentic (I am of Persian descent) Persian food, at reasonable prices, in a fine (if somewhat "boring design") interior environment. The kebabs (delicious marinaded meats, or highly recommended salmon kebabs) and classic stews (fesun june highly recommended) are a real treat, for anyone who enjoys this type of cuisine. Service is friendly and attentive. My only criticism (actually of ALL of the Ravaghs) is that the interior design environment, of the restaurant, while perfectly comfortable, is NOT in any way reflective of a "Persian" experience. There is NO Persian art, or decorative elements??, and the music (I think it may have been Persian music?) was played much too low to hear. Also, the wait staff could have been more informative, descriptive of the cuisine, and more authentically Persian, in my opinion. Also, for some strange reason?, there is NO signage - at the exterior, so it was hard to find for many people...? (see photos) Overall, an EXCELLENT choice for a delicious meal, in midtown Manhattan, and VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - one of the BEST for this type of cuisine!

This was the best Persian Restaurant I have ever experienced. Wonderful food, excellent service and pleasant ambience.

Huge portions and tastefully prepared Iranian cuisine. Large menu and nice waitresses. The chicken kabobs were really tasty.

Had dinner here with a friend. We split the delicious Baba ganoush to start, then we shared the salmon kababs and the shrimp kabobs. Both salmon and shrimp were excellent and flavorful and we substituted grilled vegetable for the rice which made it allow carb meal.

I went there for lunch, attracted by the dishes I saw on the customers’ tables. I was not disappointed, it was delicious, plentiful and very affordable prices. I highly recommend and I think that in the evening it is better to book.

Very nice place. I had mediterranean salad with salmon $20. It was the one of the best salads I have had. Very large quantity. Interior decoration was good. Service was very very fast. I loved everything about this restaurant. I wish they had a big board outside telling people ... this is the one.

Thankfully we got there early as it is extremely popular. The food was delicious and fresh with great flavors. One of the best Kebabs I have had.

I have been back twice since my last review. I still like the food but have to point out the food splatter on the walls near the tables. My guest initially pointed it out to me in September. Yuck. When I returned a few days ago, saw it again in another location in the restaurant. Yuck. I'm not too squeamish and normally eat at dives as long as the food is great, but it is pretty unappetizing. How can this place have a NYC "A" rating?
Amazing pita bread and filling food!
My friends and girlfriend took me to this restaurant for my birthday and I have to say it was a great choice. The restaurant has two floors and we were seated at the bottom one. The seats were comfortable and the atmosphere was relaxing and not too loud. The service was excellent, our water cups were kept full and there were no problems with orders. The best part of this restaurant is, of course, the food. After ordering, we received a basket of 3 long pieces of pita bread along with 2 small bowls of dip. This pita bread and dip combo was hands down one of the best I've ever tasted. We ordered Hummus and Sambuseh as appetizers and they were very good paired with the pita bread and dip. I ordered the Sultani Kebob as a main dish and even though the picture doesn't do it justice, it was a very filling and delectable meal. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone that visits New York City and those that enjoy Middle Eastern food.
