A busy, noisy German Beer Hall. Everyone is having a good time and actually laughing and talking to each other. The beer selection is a good one and the beer is excellent. Considering how busy this place is, the service is excellent. How they keep track of everyone's billing is beyond me. The food is OK. My wife and I had the veal Wienershnizel. It was good, a little overcooked. The sides were also good. Can't help but leave here with a smile on your face.

If you need to go to Reichenbach Hall during lunch time, the service is slow, even though very few customers were in the place. Even to start off and order drinks, the waitstaff was slow to respond. They don't have red onion for the liverwurst sandwich, only White onion. Apple Strudel was so so and took a long time to prepare.

Outrageous. Paying the two checks I had, I authorized the restaurant for N dollars and they charged my cards for about N+2 dollars. They made this mistake on 2 checks that I was paying, so it is not an accident. I contacted them by email, they acknowledged the issue but never cared about returning the money and stopped responding to emails.

Kudos for the atmosphere and Späten Bier. But there was no veal in the Wiener Schnitzel only pork and chicken. Rather mediocre. And the cucumber salad was very bland.

My visit to the Reichenbach Hall Restaurant in Midtown Manhattan has been on my to-do list for quite some time. It certainly was worth the wait. A well appointed German Bierhalle with an excellent menu and a wide selection of beer and wine awaits you. I had the Swaebischer Kaesespaetzle which is superb. I highly recommend a visit to the Reichenbach Hall when next in the Herald or Times Square area of Manhattan.

We were staying at a hotel on the same block. This was just a fun experience. Huge place with nothing fancy but they did have very nice and large bar. Both nites we got there after the kitchen had closed but did get to eat a couple of huge German pretzels. The locals were playing darts and several drinking games. The beer as one would expect was very good. My wife and I both like German pilsners and lagers.

Arrived a few minutes early for our 5:45 reservation on a Saturday and was a bit surprised that the place was practically empty. Guess the oompah doesn't heat up until a bit later in NYC. The overall decor has some nice German touches with a beer hall ambiance. Can imagine a little bit of Oktoberfest going on. Food: ordered the large pretzel as a starter, wurst sampler platter with heaps of sauerkraut, a schnitzel with german potato salad (cold, would rather have it hot), and red cabbage. Overall the food was very good. The pretzel was nothing special and would skip it next time. The wurst were all good, the kraut was better than a lot of what we get in the States (a somewhat milder kraut which I like). Highly disappointed that they didn't serve Spazi and had run out of diet coke (go figure). Not beer drinkers so can't offer anything on that other than they have a nice selection per their drink menu. Service: very good, attentive and food was brought in good time.

We had the Wiener Schnitzel.....both the Chicken and Veal versions. The Chicken servicing was huge...nearly filled the plate and even after cutting some off to give my husband a try (he had the Veal) I still could not finish it. Both schnitzels were nice and thin. Went on a Sunday night and had no problems getting seated straight away. Wait staff were efficient and friendly. Reasonable prices.

This is restaurant is amazing! I like the colors and vibes inside this place. Staffs are wearing colorful German customers. Food and drinks are affordable, authentic, and delicious. Place is spacious with traditional German tables made of wood. We will go back here again!

We literally walked past and decided to have a beer. It was quiet but staff were super attentive and although we only wanted a beer they were happy to serve us promptly. Lots to choose from and we asked for advice. Very happy with the choice. We particularly liked the music and atmosphere.

Horrible horrible horrible. If I could give it a zero, I would. Horrible is the best word to describe this overall experience!! The drinks were good but how can you mess up beer on tap? Rushed to place a food order “we’re very busy”. The food was horrible. The entire meal was cold. Server did not bring the right food. When pointed it out, returned with same place with mushrooms sauce. Needless to say, meal not eaten. Asked for silverware and the server literally took fork and knife off table beside us and tried to offer it to us. Asked a different server for silverware, she brings us fork and knife. No napkin. Not wrapped. Again pointed out sanitation rules, again told “we’re busy.” Had to ask for napkins again. Needless to say the meal was not eaten. This is the nastiest meal I have ever been served. Horrible. Will never come again and will NEVER recommend this place either. H O R R I B L R!!

If you’re looking for a great German meal with big steins of beer this is the right place. Old German style hall with long tables and benches adds to a festive feel. Not quiet so don’t show up for a quiet romantic dinner ... but a lot of fun.

Reminiscent of the bier halls in Germany on a much smaller scale. Large selection of bier and wines from Germany. Decent German food. Bavaria pretzel typical bier hall app. The selection of spatzledishes was good as well as the wurst platter. More than enough for 2 to share.

We were staying at a hotel across the street and wanted a drink and bite to eat to close out our night. This place did not disappoint. We got some great beer and a good pretzel. The staff were helpful and attentive even as they were working on closing and the kitchen was shutting down. Having travelled to Germany numerous times, the vibe of this place made me feel like I was back in Bavaria.

Nice place for classic German beer hall food. Ordered the chicken schnitzel for entree and was cooked well. Would come back when wanting a schnitzel fix.

The German beer list was extensive and well written in terms of describing the flavors. We order the “kinder franks” (cocktail franks). Which were delicious. They snapped when you bit into them and the beef was extremely tasty- for 2-3 people there is more than enough to share. As for the pretzel, maybe I was looking for more of a NY style pretzel. It was big and shaped like a pretzel, but hardly any salt on it and the inside was very light not the density of a pretzel I was looking for. The one recommendation for ownership is ... it is OK to hire women in their 30’s and 40’s with experience to work there. The group you had on our night seemed to be all in their 20’s and acted like it. We had difficulty getting any service from the moment we walked in Several times they walked right by us as if they were too busy to stop and help. It was up to the food runner to help us when we need to get our fraulein’s attention.

We needed a quick dinner near our hotel after a long day of travel and this seemed like it would fit the bill since it was across the street from our hotel. The reviews seemed okay so we decided to brave it. Let me say that the only real issue I have here is with the food. It was mediocre at best. A dry, overcooked burger and a pretzel that may have just been microwaved with a beer cheese sauce that was... not good. Our server was attentive and friendly, the space was big. The cider we ordered was good. It may be that you go here for the drinks since they seemed to have a good selection and skip the fare. The other thing that was a first for us here was that they ask for and hold on to your credit card at the onset after your order until you are done. Perhaps this is done elsewhere at places like this but it was a first to me even though I knew we would not be drinking any more than we ordered. Not a problem really just new to me. There are tons of other places to eat in the area. I would skip this as a food option.

We went there for lunch. We had schnitzel and spazle. The portions were humongous . The waiter was average for NYC. It was about $40 a head including a beer. I’d recommend this place for anyone who wants good hearty food of the German style in NYC.

We ate here whilst in New York as it was close to our hotel. Really friendly staff, good value food and beer, but not my preferred kind of food.

This is not just another German restaurant. The food is good and the selection of beer is amazing. It is also a fun place to go. It seems like going to Oktoberfest .

Stopped here for lunch with a few colleagues. So disappointed. There were only 2 people covering all of the tables and it was pretty busy. So after ordering our appetizer and first drink we did not see a server again for at least a half hour. It was so bad that I had to go to hell the bar to buy a round of drinks for us. The server was also in charge of greeting people as they entered and seating them. I saw at least 15 people stand around waiting to be seated who finally just walked out. When we finally were able to order our main courses someone asked for a schnitzel with spaetzel. They brought her a schnitzel with a pretzel instead. Seriously?? Then it took 15 minutes to bring the spaetzel and by then we just wanted to get out of there. I ordered bratwurst and they had no flavor at all, came out less than warm and were generally just very bad. I was so disappointed. It’s very rare that I feel like I wasted 2 hours at lunch, but I definitely did here. Never again. The giant pretzel was excellent though.

Great food and beer. Very informal, can get loud, but still fun experience since everyone there is really happy. The portions are HUGE, share one. The veal dishes are both excellent and reasonable priced under $30 for everything. They don't force you to purchase side dishes, included with meal. Get the currywurst on a brutchen, a genuine Berlin lunch, done right.

We love our time in Germany with our family and friends, and at times it is difficult to find a great place with that traditional German vibe. So we stopped into Reichenbach Hall - and threw back a liter of beer each. At the time we went, the place was pretty much empty. Odd compared to Germany; yet this is New York... We ordered our beers and a pretzel, and they certainly made us happy. Perhaps the restaurant would be more upbeat at a different time of day. We were there on Independence Day around 6pm, so perhaps many people were in the process of finding their spot to watch the fireworks? The one thing I will say is the music was....odd. It didn't fit the restaurant and the vibe. We probably would have stayed longer if the music would have been better. Polkas and accordions should abound; not pretty awful remixes of really who knows what. Perhaps they would consider a change to something more fun and traditional for this kind of a place? Just a suggestion. Would we go back? Sure - if we are in the mood for a good German beer and pretzel!

We had some great import beer, and the Curry wurst with fries...delicious. Clean bathroom, and cute place.

We had an early dinner and witnessed a supposed employee yelling to be paid. It was a bit uncomfortable as the person who seemed to be an employee was clearly agitated. The food was good and plentiful.

Wife and I stopped in for a few beers and some food. Beer was great and the pretzels are great. We shared a mixed plate that was very good, selection of sausages and some very good kraut and purple cabbage. Will definitely be back!

My brother and I went to Reichenbach Hall for some authentic German food. The food was okay. We split several dishes. The pea soup was flavorful but nothing great. The Jager Schnitzel was good but again nothing great. The spaetzle were very tasty. The saurerkraut had an interesting flavor to it and was good as well. We had a lovely chat with one of the managers. He was very attentive and delightful. We suggested some other dishes to include on the menu especially sauerbraten. The atmosphere was closer to sports bar than traditional German decor. I think this place would be lots of fun to watch sports with a large group of friends.

I had plans to meet a friend after work for a free movie night she had, however, I never made it due to the public transportation. i was lucky to get a cab, trying my best to make it while she said to me over the phone that doors were closing and better getting off my cab. I was tired from work, however, my friend was already in Manhattan, and all of a sudden, I remembered Willy's card. He was once my customer and in the informal talking while checking him out, he mentioned it was a nice place with nice food, and I never went! So, my quick thinking was telling my friend to meet me there! Awesome place!!! My Server was welcoming and professional and waited to see if I would be comfortably seated at the barrel or if I preferred a regular table. Nope, I wanted to try something new so I stayed there glued to the glass window waiting for my dear friend, she is same as me, she loves exploring new places. I ordered the beer sample as suggested by my Server, I was trying my second one when my friend arrived. We order the Berlin' street food and later the sausage platter suggested by Moe, absolutely delicious! By the way, Moe, thank you for your excellent hospitality! Drinks, food, decor, service, playlist, and location are great! Even the Ladies Room is cute! Pic is enclosed because my friend and I laughed like crazy wondering if more that one person was knocked out while trying to make it to the restroom, lol! Willy, thank you for giving me your business card that day; Moe, thank you again for being so welcoming, attentive, and professional; and special thanks to our Server for making us feel at home! You all, Ladies and Gens, are adorable!

I have walked by this place hundreds of times and never went in. Finally decided to take the German plunge. Wish I hadn’t. Ordered the Kleinfrank appetizer, after the bartender said it was different sausages. It’s only miniature hot dogs with spicy mustard. They were ok. Also ordered the Rote Beet Salad which was better, but the beets weren’t all that great. The beer was good, it was the best part of the meal. Not sure if I will be back. It was also overly expensive for what I ordered.

The hall is very nice and bartender girls are pretty hot. Especially the brunette one... BUT; there are flies everywhere, and musics are quite bad...

It has been far too long since I have been back to Germany. Having spent many vacations there and living in country for a few years I frequently crave authentic German food and this place has it. Some of the side dishes are a little less authentic, at least for Bavaria. The Uber Pretzel (not on the menu, so you’ll need to ask) is the closest thing to a Bavarian pretzel I have had anywhere in the states.

Our server was great, beer prices were great. half or full litre if I remember correctly. best beer prices we saw in 6 days in Manhattan. The food was the problem. My schnitzel (the paprika one?) was fantastic, so amazing. My husband's sausage had the strangest most unappealing taste ever. it tasted like the smell of midtown streets (cigarettes, charred meat, and urine). Luckily the two pieces of schnitzel were so big we just split my protein. Husband said the potato salad was like potato salad he had eaten in Germany. Cabbage was alright. The currywurst however, was apparently nothing like currywurst. I had never had currywurst and it tasted good to me (although nothing like curry). My husband who has travelled in Germany and was excited to introduce me to currywurst said the only similarity it bore to currywurst was that it was sliced sausage in a sauce .

The manager mistreated the clients and the employee. Racista. The food was German like me and the prices so high. Bad definitely

This restaurant serves German food, and I liked the German meatballs with potatoes puree. The décor has communal tables that seat up to ten people.

Excellent German beer selection along with a fine menu of classic German food served in this hidden gem. Great pretzels to accompany your beer. Can be loud but noise level was comfortable on the Sunday night we stopped in after a show.

We reserved a space for 30 people from my office and they were easily able to accommodate us. The beer and food were both good and the service was very good.

Traditional German Beer Hall. Staff were super friendly (not a German to be found though). Food offerings were good and were the traditional fare. Some of the beer offerings were limited (no Spaten Oktoberfest due to supply issues).

Food and beer were excellent. Service was very friendly. Location was convenient and walkable fro our Chelsea hotel. They have us a last minute reservation for a large group on a Friday evening. The place was loud and packed by the time we left. Not the place for a quiet meal but a lot of fun for a large, happy group. Even this vegetarian found an excellent meal!

Reichenbach Hall was just down the street from our hotel and, since it was Oktoberfest weekend in the city, we decided to give it a try. The decor seemed like a German Sports bar. They had the long tables but also several round ones. Our waitress was prompt and took good care of us throughout the meal. The Weinerschnitzel was wonderful! Pounded thin and lightly breaded. Accompanying it was delicious red cabbage and cold German potato salad. Did I mention huge! Had to share it with my hubby who was struggling with his bratwurst sandwich, with sauerkraut. The kraut had carrots and kümmel and was tasty. We were too full to have dessert just then bit went back later for yummy Apple strudel. If you are hungry for an authentic German experience, try Reichenbavh's you won't be disappointed. Prosit!

Visiting on Thanksgiving Day and stumbled into Reichenback Hall, one of the few places open and pleasantly surprised- Turkey and dressing and trimmings. Perfect-Service was good as well.

The setup is very German. Long tables which you might have to share with other schnitzel lovers. Great German beer list sold by the 1/2 lt. or whole litre. The Veltins Pilsner is just one of 14 on offer. Aside from the schnitzel - the Jaeger being my choice - there are plenty of German faves on the menu. I should point out that the portion sizes are on the large side - so prepare yourself by skipping lunch. Staff are welcoming, friendly and attentive. If you're in the mood for a right proper German meal - this is a great place. Loves it.

The food was delicious!! Amy came to the table to take our order she has a really lovely caracter and made us felt at ease and respected, she was kind and very patient with us, the beer was amazing and perfect!

The "beer hall" is right next to several hotels, so it's convenient if you just want to sit down and have a drink. The kitchen was closing when we went in, so we didn't order food. Like many places in NY, the bar is open much later than the kitchen. What I can rate is the service. It was hard to figure out exactly who was waiting on us, the staff seemed to rotate and didn't really check on us, which made it difficult to find someone to get our bill. We had to ask for the bill because, as another reviewer mentioned, this place insists on running a tab. We each wanted one beer and I expected to pay for it when we ordered. Menu is typical "beer hall," lots of carbs. Schnitzel looked interesting. I might go back to try the food if I was in the area, but definitely not if I was in a hurry,

we ate here on a Thursday night and the place was hopping! Good German food and beer and loved the lively, German atsmosphere.

Goes without saying that their wings here are a MUST - soup is absolutely amazing and the crowd is great at all times I've been there. A must go to spot during soccer season!

Service, quality, portions and atmosphere! A must try if you enjoy German Food! Located right on 5th avenue right in the heart of Manhattan.

We have found our new favorite place to eat! We love German food, and we were not disappointed! We started with the regular sized pretzel and German cheese appetizer. It was perfect! Jaeger schnitzel, German goulash and spaetzle were our entrees. All of it was delicious! Our waitress was very attentive, we were never without a beer! Chef Freddy happened to be walking by our table, so I asked if he made our meals. He said his staff did, and was very happy to know we were so pleased! He then sent over a piece of black first cake, that is his own recipe. I have to say it is truly one of the best I have ever had. It’s worth a stop here, just for the cake! The ambience makes it even more special if you are at all nostalgic for Germany! We look forward to visiting again!

My husband & I visited the restaurant & we had a wonderful server who was very attentive. She made a great recommendation for a light German beer which my husband loved. Close walk to the hotel after hikng around NYC all day which was a plus.

NOISY! we went for an early dinner 5.30 pm on a Friday so obviously the end of the working week probably added to the din. Beer is very good as is the wine but I think if you just want a nice dinner and to be able to have a conversation there are better places. The food was OK but nothing special. We didn't pay a return visit.

Reminds us of the beer halls in Germany. Lots of German beer on draft and food to match. We had the mixed bratwurst plate with red cabbage, potato salad and sauerkraut (about $23) with enough food for two. Potatoes were great! Food and beer were tasty. Most of the seating is at long wooden tables with benches. There are no booths or outdoor seating. Staff was friendly and helpful. Ambience is definitely in the beer hall style so do not expect fine dining or table cloths. Silverware is in a beer mug on the table along with the paper napkins I suspect we will go back when we are in the mood. If you find this information helpful please click the link to let us know.

I really enjoyed this place. The food was very good and authentic. Exceptional beer list but also multiple ciders and stuff. Service was very slow and the place is very loud - but they honestly call it a beer hall so that is ok.

Was excited to get some ethnic German food on a family trip to NYC. The place was easy to find, wasn’t busy for a Saturday late afternoon which was good with2 small children. The menu was rather limited from what i had hoped for. Food was good, reminiscent of a German beer hall but would have been so much better with traditional music and not the competition between everyday pop and the sports tv’s blaring in the room. Wait staff was attentive and not intrusive

This German Beer Garden was totally fun during SantaCon, The atmosphere was great we really enjoyed the brown beer and the food was quite good also we always try to make it here for lunch when we come into to the city

It was really hot this afternoon and we were 2 tired tourists. We enjoyed our afternoon bier here at Reichenbach Hall. Was thrilled that our server, Raluca P.actually spoke German. We tried 2 different 1/2 liters, one Franzikamer and one Hacker Pschoor (each $12). Atmosphere is definitely Southern German Beer hall. Didn’t try the food.

Wow what a place so much fun! And great food and drinks!!!! And great hospitality !!! I had the sausage plate it was excellentl. The beer was terrific- very fresh!!

Wonderful late night experience! I arrived late and wanted to eat something. They were about to close out but they allowed a last order to make me happy.. Pleasant staff, excelent food and beer and warmful environment even for a sunday evening!

It is hard to fully please connoisseurs of German and middle European food that we seem to be but this place can be recommended. The venue decor recreates the atmosphere of German beer hall with its relative simplicity, wooden benches and simple tables. We were happy with the beer selection especially Bitburger pilsner from Eiffel region. Schnitzels were good but not amazing. Pork Jager schnitzel usually is reliably good in German restaurants. Overall given an opportunity we would come back.

Really great atmosphere and great food. Huge portions, so be sure to arrive hungry. We went mid week happy hour time and the bar area was getting crowded but we were able to get a table for 7 no problem. Not really a beer drinker, but excellent beer menu. Highly recommend.

Group of 12. Reserved table for our group ahead of time. Arrived to a 50% full restaurant. Took 30 minutes - 30 minutes no joke to get our waters and drinks. Food comes out and orders are incorrect and my meal shows up 20 minutes after the entire group got their food. Ridiculous. For a nyc midtown restaurant of any kind this is absolute garbage service. Never again.

Food just fine, had the shnitzel..added on spatzel..all very ordinary but fine. Asked the bartender to tune Sunday night football on NBC and she refused to tune in until I informed her of the specific teams involved!...wouldn't change channels until I complied!...don't come here for sporting events..the bartender is oblivious to your wants

Came here for lunch, had the mixed platter. They did not have red cabbage, so I got extra sauerkraut. Potato salad was very good, sausages were ok but could have had a little more bite. Sauerkraut was disappointing, as there was not a lot of flavor. Service was very good, but it was also not very busy. I would go back, but maybe get something else.

When you enter the restaurant you immediately feel by the ambience you are in Germany. They have a large beer menu & a lunch or dinner menu that is not extensive but offers several typical German items. Maybe it was just the night we visited but neither of us liked our food . We tried 2 different things & not exciting at all. Having traveled to Germany many times the food was very disappointing They do get a very large bar crowd so it is busy all the time.

We really enjoyed the cuisine and atmosphere at this restaurant. Authentic German food and real German beer on draft; what a great combo. The only let down was the Black Forest Cake; pricey ($12.99) and lacking flavor. Beyond that; the place is well worth a visit for a taste of Germany.

Fun place to meet friends and touts itself as the largest German Beer Hall in NYC. Food is good and service quick and friendly. I try to always stop in at least once when in NYC.

We stopped in here from a long day of exploring and did not know what to expect. The interior is really nice and feels like a beer hall. The portions are really big and the food is amazing. We shared an order of their mini sausages and a pretzel, both were very good and flavorful. I chose the sausage mixed platter which comes with three different wursts, all were very good but I really enjoyed the veal sausages the most. The dish also came with sauerkraut, potato salad, and pickled cabbage which was amazing! My wife got the beef goulash and she absolutely loved it. They also have a great selection of beers, I highly recommend! We will be planning to head back tomorrow evening for a late night beer and pretzel after a show. We definitely will be telling others and about this place when they visit.

We called twice in the afternoon for reservations. Never got a human on the phone but left message when their recording said we'll call back when we get off the call we are currently on. Finally made a reservation on their web site when no one called. We did receive a call back from them at noon the next day......not satisfactory. We did go eat there that bight anyway. The food was good, portions huge! Beer good. Service very friendly. But, they need to fix their phone in reservations systems. If we would not have been staying nearly next door we would have crossed them off our dining plans when we did not receive a call back.

Nice selection of real beers and a good menu with stand-bys and a few things that are not standard. The food was good, the portions were huge and the price was reasonable for NYC and what you get. I ate at the bar and the service was good but not friendly. She was doing her job and is good at it. And that’s what you get.

This was the only place we went back to for a second visit during our New York trip. Fabulous food. Excellent choice of beers. Attentive and informative staff. And good value. One of the best experiences of our New York stay.

I have said this recently about one other restaurant in NYC. My wife visit the city 2-3 times a year. We try to eat at new restaurants every time. Reichenbach Hall is a "be-back"candidate. We have now gone three times in the last year or so. If you like the idea of Oktoberfest in the City, head down to 37th Street and prepare to enter that world. Classic German offerings like Wienerschnitzel, Bratwurst, Spatzle and an extensive offering of beers served by the 1/2 liter or full liter will definitely put you in that mode. Enjoy a Bavarian Pretzel with several dips and spreads as an appetizer. It's a perfect start. The prices are very reasonable for what one might expect. The food is delicious. I have plans to be in the city in June and this will definitely be part of our plans once again.

Service was slow and confused by waiter serving us. So loud, waiter couldn't hear us, we pointed what we wanted on menu. Five of us dined. Drinks were slow coming and not all at same time. Food was tasty and came fast and at same time. Hubby and I shared pretzel with mustards and curry wurst with fries. Forgot to ask others if they liked what they ordered.

Came here to have drinks and lunch with some vendors and friends and the place was great. The bartender was super friendly and was attentive to our needs. When we moved over to the tables for food it was just as pleasant. Food was good. No complaints if you like German food. Had the Wiener schnitzel and it was good. Would have like to try other things but it was my first time here so had to start somewhere. Would definitely go to again.

This is off the beaten track of TImes Square. Good place, fair food, lots of room. If you are in the area, this is a good choice.

I was disappointed in the fact that they brought all the food out at once, even though we ordered salad and soups first. Food was just ok, nothing to rave about, except I loved the german beer I ordered. I wouldn't go back anytime soon

Good experience at this German Beer Hall...great atmosphere to catch a game. The patrons were very hyped during the football (american soccer) game that was showing while we were there. Very loud. Lots of longer style tables, both lower and bar-stool leveled. Also some smaller round tables toward the front. There is also an outdoor seating (sidewalk) area currently. Beers (1/2 liter) are about $11-13. (Full liters are roughly twice the price). A bit pricey but not much more than other beer-serving places in Manhattan. Beer was a tad flat (2 out of the 3 we ordered). Didn't get any food, but lots of large pretzels going out. Must be a popular item. Sausages too! Servers were very busy...very straight-to-the-point ordering.

My husband and I decided to try Reichenbach Hall because we are fans of German food. We almost decided against staying because of the noise level and the wooden benches for seating. We both were happy with our meals. My husband had a Mixed Bratwurst plate that was served with red cabbage and sauerkraut. He enjoyed it very much. I tried the Crispy Chicken Schnitzel. It was good, not great. I also tried the German Potato Salad but it seemed like it was not homemade - too sweet - tasted like something from a supermarket deli.

As German as it gets. I loved their beers and the schnitzel. German music and very cool atmosphere. Well done

Cool place, great staff and great food. And great beer!!!! Try the amazing huge pretzel it’s like a meter big, never seen anything like it. Great for lunch and well located

I have been to THE beer hall in Munich. I live in Central Texas filled with German towns galore. I know German food and beer halls. This beer hall is more a facsimile of what a beer hall should be. It appeared to be more a tourist attraction rather than a genuine German venue. I found the food to be expensive for average taste and choice. The wait staff was perfunctory but did not exude friendliness and "hustle". I would not go out of my way to recommend this beer hall, but I would not necessarily steer people away from going.

On a previous trip I had a good experience at this restaurant and decided to return as I was “solo” for the evening. Friendly servers and excellent a good German dining experience. I particularly like the “red cabbage” and German potato salad. Will return on future visits.

... the food is pretty authentic and the beers very good (have their own plus a wide range of imported German ones). No need to be a tourist to come here ;)

We ordered a baurnwurst platter and a beet salad to share. We specifically asked for the wurst to be well done- and the server repeated "crispy." Anyone who has eaten this in Germany knows a very well done wurst is heaven. What we received was probably boiled or microwaved with a couple black spots. I was so disappointed. The beet salad was a pile of green with just a couple beets. If you are not going to put enough beets in your beet salad, just call it a salad with a little red or something. Dont call it a beet salad. Our fault for ordering anything green in a German restaurant. The red cabbage and the saurkraut were excellent. The meal was ok. There are not a lot of German restaurants in Manhattan so you get what you get.

We were walking down 37th Street and happened on Reichenbach Hall, a German Beer Garden Restaurant. We decided to have dinner there and it was excellent. Both the weiner schnizel and schweine schnitzel were very good - lightly breaded, tender, excellent. It was a little loud, since it was 2 weeks before Christmas, but the food was good enough that we'll definitely go back.

Loved it a l o t! Great food and drinks! Good service, decent prices. Been looking fot a german pub and Reichenbach Hall had eve eything I looked for.

Great German food and beer! We had the pea soup and a pretzel as an appetizer both were delicious! Our main courses were the Jagerschnitzel and a wurst combination plate. The wurst was better than average however, the jagerschnitzel was amazing! Not I am in Frankfurt having German food amazing but, definitely New York City amazing! Also, the beer was tasty. A side benefit for our table was our waitress who was not particularly good at her job had other “assets” that were very easy on the eyes. Overall, great place to eat, drink and have a good time with friends.

I'm not sure where to start, talking about Reichenbach Hall. I'd normally call it a hidden gem, but it's even a little more hidden with some construction going on outside. It is absolutely a gem though. I looked over the beer selection and found something that sounded tasty. I didn't notice on their web site of the menu what sizes those beers were served in. Half-liter, liter, and 2 liter! I'm glad I stuck to the single liter, but it was still all I needed with lunch on a warm, summer day. The mixed bratwurst plate was amazing. German-style potato salad and two kinds of kraut rounded it out nicely. Bring an appetite! The servers were friendly and attentive and dressed in traditional garb. While the people-watching was fun, there was plenty of sports on the TVs in more American style (even if most of it was soccer). I know I'll be back, and I'm pretty sure some others I've told about it will experience it too. I might have missed out if not for playing on Google maps, so try it and rate it. I hope you love it too!

Very good authentic German Food. Great German beer! A real find in NYC for German food lovers. A fun atmosphere.

Reichenbach Hall is between the Empire State Building and Lord & Taylor, a few steps off Fifth Avenue and 37th Street, not where you'd expect to find a spacious German beer hall with long communal tables but also cozy smaller ones. It has a partially-separated bar area with multiple screens that are visible from all over, but not audible from where we sat. Music was not German, alas. But food was and it was mostly very good. The chicken schnitzel luncheon platter was abundant. The Bavarian pretzel was huge and came with 3 varieties of mustard and Obatzda which was much blander than I've had it elsewhere but improved with the mustard. They also serve burgers and very large sausages on rolls for lunch. The smallest size beer is a half liter. I found the Reichenbach Dunkel (Dark) too sweet and they were gracious about changing it. As Manhattan's German restaurants are mostly far downtown or farther uptown, this is an ideal location in the 34th Street, midtown area. It gives you a real change from the hectic area tempo, at least it did when we were there for lunch.

This was our first time here. Thank you to all Tripadvisor reviewers! We were here after a Broadway show, Sunday evening (6pm reservations but the place was not crowded). Positives; 1. German Beer Hall decor 2. Excellent beer selection 3. Authentic and very tasty entrees (the schnitzel was huge!) 4. Not noisy at all! 5. Bench seating - long tables 6. Mid-range prices - dinner for two with drinks and desserts ~$100.00 Negatives: 1. Piped in classic rock music. Really? In a German restaurant? 2. Friendly but slow service 3. Large screen TV with American football game on Except for the few negatives we would definitely go back! Come hungry!

Went there one night, as we like to try German restaurants wherever we are in the world. The first lady who greeted us was very friendly and seated us and took the order. We opted for a Jaegerschnitzel with fries and I had Potato Pancakes with Apple Sauce. Our drinks were a small glass of Riesling white wine and I had 500ml of Beer. The credit card had to be handed over immediately after the order and we were asked if we wanted to keep an open tap (we opted not to. So much for trusting your customers to be able to pay the bill/cheque. The drinks arrived within a timeline of 10 minutes. Food: The Schnitzel was very dry and overcooked and so were my two tiny potato pancakes, which they smothered in sour cream, even though I had ordered them with apple sauce. This is experience was so far from German food culture as you can get, if you haven't been to Germany and would find it difficult to take judgement, that's what they serve. Our server who greeted us, seemed to have taken a break. The Lady tattooed all over, with something in German we call a 'Hirschgeweih', just above her bum, who took our plates off the tables, looked like, 'wish you weren't here', and I couldn't give a flying f... if you have enjoyed your meal. The first greeter was nice, but the rest of the dining experience wasn't. It was only for a mere €USD 70, which translates into £55 or €65 for poor service and quality with requested tips on top. Well it is New York after all, and you get to meet all sorts. If you are looking for German food, just don't go there.

Hearty beer. Beer garden feel with the picnic tables and ambiance. Gets a big crowd early from people coming off work then gets easier. The seating area is seated as a restaurant the bar area first come first serve. The bar staff is attentive and as crowded as it gets the bar staff looks out for new faces and gets your order. Pretzels and brats also a must.

We were a family group and we made sure we sat well away from the speakers because it is incredibly noisy. The pork schnitzel was delicious and well cooked in a very generous portion. The beer was great. ** benches and long tables with lots of room between so is probably wheelchair accessible. We were there around 6:15 p.m but the after work crowd thinned out pretty quickly.

A cold NY evening and warm comforting German food; its great combo! My group and I ate at RH on Christmas Eve and weren't disappointed! Warm crispy Schnitzel, flavorful Spaetzle, fluffy/hot Pretzel/Schmeers, Cold beers and friendly staff, it was a nice way to end a nice day in NYC! Its been a while since I was here but it was worth coming back! Try it next time your in the mood for good food!

A group of us came out here after dinner for beers over a local friend's recommendation. I was really surprised by the ambiance that is so close to our experience visiting bars in Germany. I was so excited to see Veltins on the beer selection. I had Veltins in Brauhaus restaurant in Abu Dhabi when they had the Oktoberfest event nearly 10 years ago. I loved it but was never able to find it again from other places. The service was great. It was a busy Friday night but they were able to accommodate the 8 of us fairly quickly. Our waitress Lucianna (my apology if I misspell her name) was very attentive with nice attitude. It was loud but still a wonderful place to enjoy conversation and beers.

We ordered beers and the giant pretzel! Well the giant pretzel is GIANT!!! Order one for every two people, unless you have a big appetite! They come with 3 different mustard dipping sauces too! We loved the atmosphere too!

It was slow and it felt quiet abandoned in the middle of downtown. Service is slow and unprofessional to say the least. My hotel was next door so that was the nearest place to go to, for as much I love their beer selection, the space and decor, I think the service is below average.

I lived in Germany for 5 years and was so excited to learn that this restaurant was owned by authentic Germans. I could not wait to taste the food and introduce my husband and son to the cuisine. We went for lunch. The restaurant was not crowded. Our waitress was horrible! Took our order and never came back. Someone else delivered the food. No one refilled drinks. The bratwurst was YUCK! Have had better from Whole Foods. Was hoping for Brochen but they offered Americanized breads. The pretzel was the only good thing and it was way overpriced at $12.

Food was good, but the service was non existent. Wasn't able to flag down the waitress for a refill. Didn't even have a knife to eat with. My spouse tried to order what he wanted, waitress came back and said they don't have that. Pointed to something more expensive on the menu, which included sides my spouse wouldn't eat. Half way through our meal the table next to us got served what my spouse originally wanted. Quite upsetting to say the least. When we were done eating, the plates were taken away, we sat for more than 30 minutes and still no check. Absolutely couldn't wait to get out of there. Really a shame because the food was good. No way I would ever go back there again though. I never complain, but this was a horrible experience.

We had picked out a restaurant on W 37th st. When we got there it was closed. We looked around we saw this German restaurant. We went in and they seated us. A the ladies had German accents. I don't know if it was real or not. I had mixed sausage potato salad and Sauerkraut. It was very good.

The place was deathly quiet and very lacking in atmosphere. The service was unenthusiastic. Decent location in midtown and a good selection of German beer. The food was average and not made with any particular love or panache.

Every time I travel to NYC I visit Reichenbach Hall. It is one of my favorite places to go. The food is great and the atmosphere is like being in Bavaria again.

This restaurant was directly across from our hotel, The Draper, and since we like German food and drinks, we gave it a try. For starters my wife tried the Peach Kitten drink and liked it very much. I opted for a couple of Schofferhafer drafts and the pineapple flavored beer was delicious. My wife had for her entree the Crispy Schnitzel Chicken and it was very good, with so much served I had to help her finish it. I tried the Saurbraten, which I liked, but was not fond of the side choices of red cabbage and dumplings. The server was friendly and efficient on a somewhat quiet Friday night. But it is pricey, even for New York.

HUGE portions, TREMENDOUS flavor and WARM, WONDERFUL service!! If you get the pretzel, get the cheese and onions that go with it! You can't go wrong with this place!

We planned a family weekend in NYC for a large group and made a reservation at Reichenbach 2 weeks in advance as the kids love pretzels & fries. 48 hours before our visit we got an email that our reservation had been cancelled. When I called and asked why and explained we had a lorge family with kids and it would be hard to get another reservation, it was explained to me that it was "SantaCon", which is the reason for the cancellation, but they would still honor our reservation since it should be over by 5pm and back to regular service by 6pm. When we showed up that night, they tried to turn us away at the door, but I explained our situation and that I spoke to the manager a few days before (he was not there that night). They let us in but explained that it was a limited menu (4 items) and no table service (order at the bar) and that kids were not welcome. SantaCon (a few dozen drunk 20-somethings dressed as Santa) was still in full-effect and it was not an appropriate spot for our family. They let us in, but we left shortly after. Can't rate the food or drink, because we didn't have any, but the service experience was sub-par. Wasted $$ on two Uber rides to the restaurant, and then back to the hotel.

This has a beerhall atmosphere. All portions are enormous. Consider splitting a meal as you can't possibly finish what they serve.Food is good. Service could be professionalized.

Received 2019 at Reichenbach Hall..... eating great chicken Schnitzel, sausages, pretzels and other German dishes.... the drinks were served generously and quickly The service was very good...always with a smile and quick service We sat in one of the long tables in the middle of the hall, so we had a view of the TVs showing the ball drop; the music was lively and conducive for celebration. At the same time the ambiance was very family friendly, so I was comfortable there with my kids and girlfriend They provided hats, whistles and other party favors for us to make noise as the new year approached!.... we also got a complementary cup with bubbly! Price was very reasonable for the amount/quality of food/drinks and the great service we received Will return for another meal soon!

I was needing to kill some time and enjoy a few (seldom available) German beers. I sat at the bar and immediately has Jack engage me on beer options. He was quite helpful and friendly. I only saw some food pass by but it looked and smelled delicious. Next time I am in NYC, I will plan to go back for the full experience. I recommend this place

We always enjoy a good German meal. This place was nice enough. We were greeted by a nice waitress, ordered liter beers and a delicious (!) pretzel plate. The entrees were good (Jagerschnitzel & bratwurst) , but the atmosphere was lacking. The place is kind of dark, and the constant Techno Dance music ruined it for me - totally out of sync with the décor & type of restaurant. we were expecting more of a beer hall vibe.

Tried this on a recent trip to NYC and it got off to a good start with very friendly staff, they have the long benches typical of a Bier Keller and some normal tables as well, had a draft Kostrizer which was well chilled and in the right glass along with Brat wurst with the usual trimmings, which was just as good as nothing I have had on numerous tropics to Cologne over the last few years. Menu is typically German with all the Bier Keller favourites and a good range of German beer on tap, the staff are friendly and attentive, would thoroughly recommend

We were looking for a bowl of hot soup after walking the streets in the cold after a show and this did not disappoint. A nice cold 0.5 of Weisenbier accompanied by a big bowl of chicken and spetzel soup hit the spot.

For dinner we had a reservation at Reichenbach Hall. Our sole purpose for going to this restaurant was to order the pork shank in hopes of having a similar experience to those in Frankfurt Germany. When we arrived, we were brought to our reserved table and given menus. The first thing I noticed was the pork shank was no longer on the menu. What?! I confirmed that this was true! We weren't off to a great start. Our waitress was very busy dealing with multiple tables so after a bit of a wait we finally ordered drinks (beer for great, bourbon for me). To start our meal, we ordered the large pretzel with just mustard. The pretzel was hot and delicious although we had to wipe off a lot of the salt. For entrees I ordered the currywurst and french fries (usually an appetizer) and my husband ordered the bratwurst sampler. My meal was awful! Currywurst should be cooked bratwurst topped with curry ketchup served with french fries. This dish was bratwurst cooked in a curry ketchup sauce that had been cooking for a while and had been reduced down. It was overpowering and unappetizing. My husbands dish was good although when the best part of the dish is the potato salad I feel like that isn't saying much either. Unfortunately, I think Reichenbach Hall has become more of a bar scene rather than a restaurant. When looking around you had most of the people drinking only. I noticed that those who did order food didn't finish their dishes either. Needless to say, we wouldn't be back and wouldn't recommend a visit.

I was just passing by when I noticed the hall and decided to give it a try. I ordered the jager schnitzel in pork but they were out of pork so I had chicken schnitzel. I also had a side of spatzel. The food was awesome and the waitress was amazing and made the whole dining experience perfect!!!! I will be going back.....

I enjoyed my last visit and brought my daughter for lunch. On Friday at noon, it was empty. Odd, but OK. The German soundtrack was good. I like the vibe! Our waitress, Fatoumata, knew the menu very well. We had the kielbasa plate and the chicken wiener schnitzel that was not breaded (I am on weight watchers!). The kielbasa was very good but not unique. It is similar to what you can get at Safeway. I liked the schnitzel but it was too heavily salted. The potato salad side dish was excellent. I am salivating just thinking about it. I ate my daughter's sauerkraut and red cabbage. Delicious. She ate my french fries, also delicious. Overall, nice restaurant and the food is good, but not special. Total cost for the above, plus one beer, was $42.

Brit and German happened upon this place during a short visit to NYC and went away thoroughly disappointed. Whilst the space suggested it would have a warm, inviting, inclusive ambience, it was clear that this wasn't going to happen. Our initial server did a good job with the welcome and introducing the menu but we didn't see her again. She was replaced by a haughty, unsmiling woman who seemed to despise her customers and hate her job. She hovered constantly as though expecting us to make a dash for the door to avoid paying. My schnitzel was fine, nothing special but acceptable, whilst my partner's potato pancakes were overcooked and looked unappetising. We are usually seduced into the warm atmosphere of beerhalls wherever we visit but this didn't feel like anything but a poor imitation of the real thing. We ater our food, drank our drinks... and left.

We decided to eat here because it was close to our hotel & it had good reviews. We ordered a pretzel & beer cheese & chicken schnitzel. The pretzel was delicious. It had the perfect crunch on the outside & the soft inside. The beer cheese was amazing!!!! The schnitzel was tasty & cooked perfectly. The cucumber salad was delicious. The French fries with some malt vinegar was perfect. We really liked the atmosphere & how it was decorated. The only thing is maybe play some German music. We enjoyed our first visit to a German restaurant.

My wife and I stopped in at Reichenbach Hall in March 2025 for a late lunch (around 2pm on a Thursday). We were on foot and cannot speak to parking nearby. We were greeted by friendly staff and seated right away. There were a few other parties at tables and at the bar. Overall, the atmosphere was nice. It is set up for large parties and community tables, so I can imagine this place being pretty good for a few beers on Friday or Saturday night when its in full swing. We ordered the bratwurst plate and a beet salad. I also ordered a Paulaner Salvator. The beer came first and was fresh and great! The food came shortly after and was also fresh and very good. Portion sizes were decent for the price in NYC. Our waitress was friendly and checked on us when needed without being intrusive. This was our first dining experience in NYC in a LONG time and I was pleasantly surprised by the service and attitudes. If we ever go back to NYC, this will be on our list of places to stop in, at least for a beer if not for a meal. If you are in the area, it is worth going a little out of the way to come here.

This is a great German restaurant with mostly Bavarian beers and very good food. Typical German food is usually comfort food and the taste of the food at the Reichenbach Hall was very good. Service was very attentive. It is set up like a Bavarian beer hall and is a great place to experience a bit of Germany - Bavaria in New York City!

Visited this place with a group of friends to watch a World Cup game last week and it was the worst service I’ve had in a long time. We waiting 45 minutes for our beers to arrive, then the same for the second round. In the end we gave up and went to the bar ourselves. We ordered food which came 2 hours after it was ordered, they were out of multiple beers and we were told there was no soda because the machine was acting up. When the check arrived it was wrong, with more items on there than we had ordered (both tables either side of us had this experience also). They were so unprepared for actual customers it was crazy, and it was not super busy. Shame because I have been and enjoyed this place before but I will not be returning.

Our hotel was just down 1/2 a block. Found this restaurant online. Got there early because of the time zone change. Sat at a high top table. The waitress was friendly. Brought us a couple liters of beer. I had the Reichenbach Dunkel Lager. It was dark and delicious. We split the pork Jager Schnitzel dinner and the mixed wurst plate. The wurst sausages were excellent. The Jager Schnitzel was the best I have ever had in the world! I would come back just to have that (and more beer!). Gotta love German bier hall style dining. Love this place! We'll be back this weekend!

fun place for a group, good selection of beers and casual food, big long tables, loud and fun, recommend for groups

Really great and authentic German food and bier! Great location on 37th street in midtown, just steps away from the Fairfield Inn and Springhill Suites hotels, so if you are staying there, this is a highly recommended diversion. I enjoyed the full-bodied Spaten Oktoberfest beer on tap - served in your choice of mugs, either 1 pint or 1 quart. The Bratwurst was excellent and filling - it came with 2 perfectly grilled sausages. The waitress was attentive and really terrific explaining all of the food options and she allowed me to substitute a small salad in place of the side of red cabbage. The atmosphere is wonderful. You should try this place if you get a chance!

Taking a brief hiatus from wine, out of the sky, I decided to immerse in German food. Reichenbach Hall hones authentic German food and German bier of a large indoor beer hall. Boisterously loud music heard both inside and by the threshold entrance upon entering. By the power of observation, despite of the rowdiness atmosphere patrons behave socially responsible. Female waitresses and female servers wear a modern dirndl. Male waiters and male servers wear lederhosen complete with the standard attribute of suspenders and braces but disappointingly without the drop-front flap as there were none. My server Sarah was attentive. This indoor beer hall is perfect for Oktoberfest folk festival with the boisterously loud music, German food, German bier and including live sporting events displayed on the numerous TVs. Business cards are available for grabs. The bottom of the bill contains gratuity suggestions of 18%, 20% and 25% without the customer to perform math calculation. Sitting at the bar counter I was promptly greeted and offered a cocktail/ beer menu. The craft beer selection is extensive which greatly appeals to the avid beer enthusiast as both the German bier and costumes fend the mere illusion that briefly I was in Bavaria. I LOVE world travel. I admire the comical quote written on a traditional black board: "drinking beer might not solve all your problems... but neither will water." Small pretzel with spicy mustard $3.49 Served piping hot embedded with salt. The pretzel was soft and fresh. The spicy mustard was pungent. It became my interim meal. Reichenbach Hall's pretzels comes in two sizes: small or large. The large is designed to be shared and is accompanied with several condiments. Bembel With Care Apfelwein Pur, cider 6.0% ABV, $9.50 German hard dry cider. Made from 100% Odenwälder orchards apples. It tasted very fruity and natural without additives. It was served with an accompanied large beer mug/ beer stein of 28 oz.

Oh my... where to start. First I have lived most of my adult life in Munich or Vienna. The entrance to the Hall with bad German umpahpah music piped onto the street. The atmosphere of this relatively large place, includes multiple cheap representations of what they believe a German beer hall should be. The only thing authentic were the benches and chairs. The food is deplorable. Indeed most of us (who had all grown up in Munich, left the vast majority on our plates). Potato salad with way under cooked potato. Jageger Schnitzel with a mushroom sauce that would have been better out of a Maggi or Knorr package. And, no one in Germany would serve sauerkraut and red cabbage on the same plate. Add to this they have a penchant for getting groups of people to play beer and schnaps games. We don't even do that at the Oktoberfest. Avoid this location and find a better German in NYC. I know they exist.

Awesome choices for beer. As well as the best cider from Bavaria. Felt comfortable and wish we had a place like this at home. Our server, Rudy was the best.

We went on Saturday night and the atmosphere was fun in spite of covid-19 restrictions. Everything was clean and normal precautions were being followed by all staff that we could see. We ordered schnitzel which was very tasty, swedish meatballs which were also delicious, and a salad that was so-so, but who goes to a Bavarianan-style beer hall and orders a salad anyway, right? Apple streusel for dessert was excellent. Nothing was super authentic but that's clearly not what they're trying for. Beer selection was on-theme, prices were appropriate, and the service really exceeded our expectations. Several of the staff interacted with us and all were super friendly and accommodating. Best service we received over the whole NYC trip.

If you are looking for a place that gives you the opportunity to experience how German/Austrian pubs work, look no further! Considering the location of this bar, its huge and can get loud! The selection of beers is extensive and food generally consists of variety of sausages with coleslaw, burgers, and schnitzels. You can go to this place on any weekdays nights and it can be a semi-quiet place to hang out and talk, or take friday/Sat night for a wild party style! The cool/fun thing they do there is called ski flight (you'd have to visit to find out what it is!:)

What you will find here is a nice beer selection. A pretzel the size of a baby. Currywurst that’s unexplainably spicy. What you won’t find here is anyone to take your order. Anyone to get you another drink. Anyone to bring you your bill. It would be faster to fly to Germany.

Outstanding atmosphere, beer, and food. The service was fast and friendly. We had a great time and highly recommend to anyone that loves beer and German food.

Almost authentic Bavarian pub right in Manhattan! Interior reminds one indeed to Bavaria but most important is the draft beer. Although I'm from the North of Germany - which has nothing in common with Bavaria - I have to admit that the "Spaten Munich Lager" provides a good impression about German beer culture. Staff extremely friendly although from all over Europe or US, Snacks are o.k.. However, Music was awful, as always in the US by far too loud and destroyed much the authentic Bavarian pub atmosphere. Even upon request no Bavarian song available.

Having spent many years in Germany, we’re always looking for great German food. Reichenbach Hall did not disappoint! Both the Nurnberger Wurstel and the Rahm Schnitzel were very authentic and delicious, and the sides were great too (especially the Gurkensalat and the red cabbage). Our server, Ralu, was extremely friendly and attentive, and we really enjoyed our conversation with her!

Our order was for German wurst and soup. Both were tasteless. Over-priced poor quality. Service was fine and benches clean,

Great place to hang out for a drink and a meal. Ask for Jack, the manager, he'll be glad to help you through the different beers available. All the members make this place a friendly one. A bar I'll sure be back in if I come back to NYC!

Amazing atmosphere, service, and delicious German food. We had Munich lagers, a pretzel, and sausages Very central location to Bryant Park and good price.

Nice atmosphere and decor, although a little loud for normal volume conversation. The sausages we had for main course were good and what you would expect. But I was really pleased with the meat & cheese platter, which while it only had one cheesy item, it had lots of meats, including ham, pâté, salami, pickles, mustards, and breads. I wasn’t drinking the night I visited, but I would love to go back and try their interesting beer menu.

We stopped in to get a pretzel before dinner elsewhere, and a potato pancake sounded good so we added that to the order. The potato pancake had stringy bits of onion throughout but it tasted good. The pretzel was okay, and the obatzda dip was not to our taste. (I'll admit I've never heard of it before, and I have no doubt that it's authentically German.) It was early so the restaurant wasn't very busy but our server was still running ragged and timely service suffered.

We visited the place twice. Atmosphere was good. Food is typical Bavarian food though partly fits American taste. Beers are German made. Good. Apferstrudel was tasty, but not Vienna style. Pity they serve bad American cofy

Busy night here. We showed up early for our reservation but they had a space for us. Waitress smiling and pleasant, seemed to like her job and her customers; we are in NY and many wait staff are rehearsing even while waiting tables while waiting for their big break...anyway, beer cold and a generous pour, food was fine; we ordered Spatezle and Wiener Schnitzel. If quantity is your thing then this is the place for you! Followed up by equally generous portions of dessert: Black Forest Cake and Apple Struedel. I thought they were particularly enjoyable because they were not super sweet. Brought a lot of left-overs back to our hotel. Nice place to try but I'll choose a new place for German food next time.

Was here several years ago during the World Cup and it was great. Something has changed. At a nearly empty restaurant it took nearly minutes to get a hot pretzel, The manager appeared to be completely inconvenienced by asking him to put on the US vs Costa Rica World Cup qualifying match which he couldn't figure out. The wait staff struggled with English (They weren't German) which is totally fine, except when my wife asked for water and they had to ask the manager if it was ok??? Has to be new owners or something. Too bad, was a good place and may still be but we will take our business elsewhere,

I've been to a couple of these hall type restaurants. This one didn't have as many tables where you sit with others. We were seated at a small table by ourself. Service was good. It took a bit for the server to come and take our order but after that, everything showed up fast. The food was good mine was a little dry. The potato salad was really good. The atmosphere was lively. Lots of people talking and having fun.

From some reason, I am not just lucky to find ant tasteful food up North. And this is not exception. While the amount of food in a dish was plenty, price for a meal and small beer was $50, which in my budget should be over the top. Taste was close enough not to give up. But, would I recommend it? No.

Good selection of beer German, giant pretzels and German sausage, all very good. Suggestion to get reservations during the dinner time

Typical German restaurant. Schnitzel was excellent. Cabbage salad was one of the best we've had. Beer was outstanding, of course.

My wife and I went on St. Patrick's Day after seeing a show. Our Open Table reservation was promptly honored at a nice table in the front. Service was prompt, attentive, and friendly. Outstanding selection of German beers in two sizes. Very large portions and everything was great. My wife said that the ladies room was lacking adequate paper supplies, a big negative, but it was a busy afternoon on a holiday. We will definitely go back. Easy walk from the theater district and then back to Penn Station.

Stumbled on this place very close to our hotel. Good service, excellent beer and we both enjoyed our food.

Only a 1/2 block from my hotel- Residence Inn Times Square, I luckily stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant. I had the jager chicken served with red cabbage and German style potato salad. Perfectly prepared and awesome...I’ve had the same dish in other German restaurants and it was dead on. I ordered Oktoberfest beer and as a beer lover, it was great. The service provided by my young lovely waitress was terrific- service with a Beautiful smile! Food and beverage appeared quickly, always appreciated. I was just super lucky to wander in to Reichenbach Hall and had I been with friends, I’d have stayed longer! Best part is that I suffer from an upset stomach when traveling and eating in different cities. I did not have any issues.

Decent place but no veal dishes. Just beef, pork and chicken. The food is fine but not inspiring. That I was hoping for. Serviceable. And pleasant but not impact on me📀. Try it yourself

Great atmosphere and place to be. Beer is great and staff is friendly

I visited New York as part of a group, and came across this place on our way back to our hotel. We were a group of 6 who hadn't booked beforehand and we were accommodated quickly when we arrived. The staff were friendly, the food was good.

We wanted to try, but the presentation of the place is more beautiful than the dishes you eat. German-like cuisine, unfortunately far from real Bavarian cuisine. Good beers proposed, unlike the wine that I do not recommend taking. Unfortunately, but it is not the fault of the managers, there was a table of drunk Americans screaming like crazy and made the whole evening particularly unpleasant, not being able to speak such was the din. Let's say that if you know and appreciate German cuisine, this place is not for you.

Due to a clear sign we found this wonderful place just across from our hotel. Outdoor seating available, though we enjoyed the atmosphere inside for a great evening of visiting.

Stopped in for a few beers and some food. Overall, a cool place to visit. Beer was great and food was good.

very food German food...great atmosphere I went with the veal Jägerschnitzel - German Hunter Style topped with a hearty burgundy wine, mushroom & bacon sauce. Cabbage and potato filled me up a big beer and I was down for the count! will go again

Service is not the best (we were told we could order food from the servers but we had to order drinks from the bar itself - that took over 30 mins since the tap was not working properly). Food is okay. If you REALLY crave german food, you may want to go there. Otherwise, I'd recommend something else (out of the multiple options NYC offer)

We love traditional German food. We had dinner a few days ago and ordered pate to be followed by veal schnitzel. The pate was mediocre and was served with dry cold toasts, probably prepared several hours or possibly days earlier. The veal schnitzel was fair sized but so thin, that the thick breadcrumbs covering the schnitzel left it to our imagination what the veal really tasted like. It was also quite dry and hard to chew on. All in all, a great disappointment for a reputed traditional German restaurant. Maybe the chef needs to be changed, because past experience in this restaurant was much better. With the current experience, the likelihood that we will return is very slim. And the price was, despite everything, quite steep!

We loved the German beer hall feel right in the middle of Manhattan, with an open hall feeling, long wooden tables, and a festive atmosphere. The beer here was good. The food, while of course pricey for Manhattan, seemed legit, was very good....and the portions were huge. Looking for a little bit of German in Manhattan? Give this place a try.

This is the best German restaurant I've found! Amazingly delicious chicken schnitzel, potatoes, red cabbage, sauerkraut, pea soup. Tastes homemade! Service was slow, even at 11pm at night, but the food made up for it!

If you like German food this is your place. Warning, it is beer hall style seating - meaning that you are probably sitting at picnic style tables next to a party of two that you don't know (unless you come with a larger enough party to fill a table -- say 6 to 12). It's also loud. But, the food was very authentic and a nice selection. I would skip the pretzel appetizer - just a big pretzel that is not special in any way. But, the schnitzel, goulash, sausage and spatzel were all great. Nice selection of beers, shots and mixed drinks. Too many men though as this is not a couples place.

This restaurant was right near our hotel so we tried it out for dinner between afternoon and evening plans. It was the day of Santacon so the whole place was filled with drinking Santas and loud music. Restaurant was on point in checking vaccine cards at the door. We were seated quickly at a table in the front corner, and after about 10 minutes someone came to take our drink and food order. My husband had the mixed meat platter and I had the brauenwurst platter, both really plentiful and delicious (especially the red cabbage). Our daughter had the cheeseburger and said it was cooked perfectly

I liked it so much, I visited again the next day. This is an authentic Bier Hall in NYC instead of Germany. Lots of German beer on tap including my favorite: Franziskaner Weissbier. They even have the 1 litre bier steins. The bratwurst was flavorful. The authentic German potato salad had the perfect amount t of vinegar. The bartender Adam was attentive and knowledgeable. He said the apple strudel was amazing. It was! Will be coming here again on my next visit to NYC.

Dinner time is very crowded at this restaurant - so make sure, you get reservations beforehand. The variety of sausages were delicious! The Wiener schnitzel was on the drier side, but i love german food - so i'm not going to complain much about it. Service was friendly and fast. Stop by if you're in the area!

This hall is similar to a Bavarian Beer Hall with large wooden tables. You get more than 10 classes of draft beer from Bavaria and from other parts of Germany. They serve Bavarian fare too, like pork knuckles, sausages, etc. Beer just perfect temperature - refreshing. They should serve some appetizers with the beer, then it would be perfect. Nice girls behind the bar serving nicely the beer. It is noisy...

Authentic German food, great ambiance, excellent location, vast German beer selection, and fairly priced! We had lunch on an early summer Friday. No reservations were needed. An appetizer, 2 entrees, and 2 half liters of beer came to $81, which is very reasonable for the proximity to Times Square. The German wings and jagerschnitzel were delicious. The restaurant looks like it will be a great place to come to watch soccer games. We will be back.

Reminds us of the beer halls in Germany. Lots of German beer on draft and food to match. We had the mixed bratwurst plate with red cabbage, potato salad and sauerkraut (about $23) with enough food for two. Food and beer were tasty. Most of the seating is at long wooden tables with benches. There are no booths or outdoor seating. Staff was friendly and helpful. I suspect we will go back when we are in the mood. Super nice German hall , the food is delicious , authentic German food. Great selection of beers. Cozy atmosphere with a bar scene, sports channels on the screens to whom likes it. Friendly people and clean . I do recommend this beer house.

Great spaetzle. Good pretzels and beer. Schnitzel was pretty good. Had a very enjoyable dinner, would return.
Meat and Beer
I do like German food. Meat and beer, what’s not to like? Greeted by waitresses in traditional German dresses. There is no messing around with the ale, 1 litre tankards are available. There are also plenty of darker ales available that have more body than local US beers. For the meal I chose the mixed sausages. Basically a plate full of meat with red cabbage etc. Fantastic. Wish I’d had the time to go back. By NYC standards the price was reasonable.
