On our last night, we wanted to find a place within walking distance from our hotel. I googled happy hour and this place popped up and I was sold. We had the ceviche infused with coconut, it was so tasty....We also had their mixed pallela dish, we ordered for 2 people but it could have easily fed 3 maybe 4 people comfortably. They had a delicious house sangria, they have beer and several other libations to choose from. Overall, a solid choice. Right across from Penn Station Wasn't too busy but definitely not empty.

Great food, great service! We were visiting New York 2 days ago and we stopped by Riko’s for dinner. My husband, 2 kids and my mom all loved this place. Service is phenomenal, the food was great. My husband and I shared a ceviche and choritos a la chalaca (mussles) and my mom ordered the lomo saltado. My kids shared a bistek a lo pobre. Super yummy and truly peruvian flavor. Definitely recommend!

Let be begin this review by saying I've been on a quest for the country's best Ceviche, if not the world's best. But I get ahead of myself here. I was in town for a wedding and this place was close to my hotel, do I thought I would try it. After all, Ceviche is Peruvian and they had several on the menu. The Peruvian places in Aberdeen don't serve it even though it is on the menu. Highly disappointing. But not here. Oh no :). In complete contrast, Riko had the absolute best I have ever tried, anywhere. The dish was enough for a complete meal, for starters, and I've never had squid in the dish before I visited Riko. It. Was. Delicious!!! The owner recommended a salad with it so I also ordered a quinoa salad and a sangria. I had the quinoa salad for dinner that night. The Ceviche Mixto de Mango is simply the best, to borrow a quote from Tina Turner, that I have ever tasted. This might just be worth a trip to NYC for the Ceviche alone. Definitely a stop whenever I'm in town again!!

This is one of those cozy places you won't notice in the NYC clutter of eateries... If you are searching for a great Peruvian restaurant, you are luck if you are reading this... Excellent service... Delicious and well prepared food... Ridiculously large portions... On the low side of moderately priced...

I stopped in to order a meal "to go," to take on my train leaving from Penn Station which is right next door. Homey, family-style atmosphere, really tasty food, friendly staff and clientele. I ordered some type of seafood stew (sorry don't remember the name) which was excellent. They even offered me a complimentary glass of wine while I was waiting for it to be prepared. A bit crowded, might be challenging to seat a large group.

We passed this place on our way to Pizza Suprema a few times so gave it a go one day. Good decision! The restaurant was lovely inside, much better than I expected, and the food was so good! I had the Half Chicken with Fries and Salad while my wife had Fried Rice with Beef. Both meals were really good and went down a treat, I also liked the green sauce that they leave on the table for you as it went really well with the chicken. We both left the restaurant feeling well fed and the cost was next to nothing for NYC. Two good meals for not much money! - well recommended!

Having been to Peru and having Peruvian friends, this place was amazing. The service was good and quick while still providing fresh authentic Peruvian food! Got the Loma Saltado, plantains, and Chico Morado (purple corn drink) my hubby got the seafood fish which was PLENTY for the price.

Ordered 1/2 dark chicken and got white meat which was dry. Jalea was ok. Staff seemed indifferent and inattentive to customer and tended to favor Spanish-speaking customers. Food was not horrible but overcooked, clams adhered to shell in Jalea. I think they have the ability to do better. Maybe it was a bad day and maybe on bad days restaurants shouldn't open but take a brake.

very simple restaurant that serves excellent Peruvian dishes. You come here for the food. Simple place, good prices and very good food.

In an quite small place, centrally located in Manhattan we found this exquisite restorant of the true Peruvian cuisine. Fresh meal, excellent service and very well done meal. I recommend

When we arrived the restaurant was pack so we wait at the door for like 10 min (yes the room is that small) we sit on the table and wait for service for like other 10 minutes ..we ordered our food and we wait and wait until we got them... it was a fried rice vegetarian, food was nothing special but after we got it we didn’t see our waitress at all I ask for some sauces to other waitress like 3 times... to get the bill was another wait ... the food was ok and probably I will go back but they need to improve their service. ASAP!

I’ve been here a few times and it’s prettt consistent. Great for a quick lunch or dinner meal. The service is pretty good and the food is even better. The plaintains and meats are always pretty good. Try the roasted chicken!

It's easy to walk right past this unpretentious Peruvian restaurant on 8th Avenue (across the street from the southwest corner of Penn Station). The restaurant is very small and informal, but the food is good! Certainly better than Pio Pio, a much larger and more expensive Peruvian restaurant on 10th Avenue. Fresh and tasty ceviche. I didn't taste the roasted chicken, which is evidently their most popular dish, but I saw a couple of orders of it, and it looks tasty. I would come back anytime I'm in the neighborhood.

We were in the city for some training and asked the secretary in the office where to go for lunch and she suggested we try the place....it is very small with no atmosphere... but the food was fresh and very very good. the wait staff was awesome. i would go back if I'm in that area again.

Stopped in for dinner on a Saturday night. We only had to wait about 5 minutes for dinner but were offered a complementary glass of wine while we waited. Food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Our waiter was adorable and very attentive. He ended up giving us a sample of another Peruvian drink and a pisco sour all on the house. Would definitely visit this place again while in that part of the city.

I’ve been here for dinner and lunches and every time it’s delicious! For $10 we had half a chicken, fries or rice and beans. Food is always great and service is quick. Highly recommend if you’re ever near Penn station/ on the west side and hungry. You won’t regret it! Get some plaintains or tostones to make your meal even better :)

Riko on 8th Avenue within 100 yards of Penn Station is a great location if you are traveling or seeing a show at MSG. The place is small. It is popular because they serve delicious food at reasonable prices. Check it out!

My wife and I had dinner here, before leaving NYC by train via Penn Station. The restaurant is located directly next to Penn station. We ordered Ceviche which is a full dish and very very delicious. The specialty fried rice was also very good. For the quality and quantity of food that you get this restaurant is excellent value for money. We would definitely come back.

Cozy, lively Peruvian eatery: ceviche, roast chicken /w rice and beans are tasty and beautifully presented. Chilled Pisco Sour cocktail with egg white and grape liquor is heaven!!

Tasty food with several options. All dishes that we ordered were delicious and the service was excellent, very kind treat. If we can back to NY we will go to Riko again!!

The ceviche here was great! Would highly recommend if that's what you are looking for. Service was great, and location is excellent.

This is a cute Peruvian restaurant near Madison square garden. We shared a steak dish that was dripping in flavor. Staff very nice. Want to do it again !!!

SO MUCH FLAVOR !! Came here for dinner and ordered the Bistec P with rice/beans and sweet plantains. The steak was in a delicious broth/gravy...soooo good with the onions and tomato. My mouth is watering thinking about this ! The staff were all very friendly and the prices were very budget friendly !! I haven't been to Peru so I do not know of the authenticity, but the flavor is amazing and I'm looking forward to going back.

The pisco was also amazing, great atmosphere and would certainly go back! Hidden gem in central location!

Loved this restaurant. Excellent food, quick service, polite staff, very reasonably priced. Small seating area so time your visit well.

A friend and I stopped here for dinner the night of her birthday on a recommendation and I thought the food was okay. No great but not bad. We had a tamale with chicken and a half a roast chicken and the food tasted like it had been made for awhile. Not that it was bad but it came out a little too quick for me. I had the pastry with the caramel filling for dessert that tasted more like a lindzer tart with a caramel filling. The service was very pleasant and the place was clean. You are packed in a little too much though. I is a small restaurant.

My first time having Peruvian food and it was awesome. The food was delicious and the portions large for a reasonable price. The service was very attentive and helpful.

I was there couple of weeks ago. It is a small place but what a great food. Their ceviche is out of this world. It is so delicious. It is on a busy street near MSG but there are couple of parking garages nearby. The lady at the front is awesome! She always smile and kind. I would suggest to stop by if you are looking for best ceviche in New York City!

We had passed Riko on every visit to family in the area and always said that we should try it sometime. One evening we decided to get carry out and wanted something simple and fairly healthy. We went in and ordered one of their roast chicken meals substituting an additional rice and beans for the fries. The staff was friendly, the wait not too long, and the price great. The chicken was excellent, mosit and flavorful. The included sides were also delicious with some interesting flavors. Next time we may try dining in. As for location, it is just a minutes walk from Madison Square Garden.

Peruvian food is not common, but if it was good as Riko, maybe it would be more common. This is a tight little NYC restaurant. Servers were busy, but stayed on top of it/ I had some delicious 1/4 chicken with rice and beans. It was some of the best chicken that I have ever had. Fortunately, some of my co-diners ordered the french fries and the were fantastic. All our food was really good. As we finished, our server brought us shots of the wonderful Peruvian drink, Pisco. On the house.

Very authentic. Great chicken. Wonderful, fresh ceviche. Good prices. Everything was good here. Nice big selection, there is something for everyone here. Wonderful if you want something unique, inexpensive, and very tasty around Penn Station. Fast service too. Just great!

One of my favorite places to eat in New York City. Visited with friends who’ve never had Peruvian food. And they are hooked! Highly recommend this place!

We just finished a great dinner at this warm and welcoming restaurant. We got there early (about 5:15 on a Friday night). They don't take reservations which worked well because we had waited until the same day to decide where to go. We had the fried calamari and the paella. Both were great. The staff was gracious and efficient, but they did seem slightly overwhelmed as the place filled up. It is small so do get there early. All in all, glad we came and I would definitely come again.

Came here with a friend not knowing I was in for one of the greatest culinary experiences of my life! I got the bistec with onions and tomatoes and it was quite literally the best thing I've ever eaten. It was so full of flavor, and perfectly prepared. I also loved the green plantains, and the beef fried rice. Overall an amazing experience!! 5 STARS!

The service was awesome. The sauces were delicious. The food was very good. The right mount of spice and flavor. We really enjoyed our lunch.

Decent food, nothing special. Very small place and not friendly cashiers/ workers. I don't get it. Only ordered to go then, not to stay and eat.

Went there last month with a friend and my experience was really good. This is a small restaurant and usually gets crowed, it’s better to call and reserve a table, otherwise, you have to wait until one becomes available. The service ( from the cashier to the servers are excellent). We ordered for dinner and, the food is fresh ( especially the Fish Ceviche). Even those it gets crowed and it’s small, you can have a nice chit chat without being interrupted from the music or the crowd.

Cute place in Sunnyside Queens, just off the 7 train. Rotisserie chicken Peruvian style. Green sauce that it comes with is amazing. Great value.

Visited the restaurant with friends who had never tried ceviche and they loved it!!! I am a ceviche freak and I loved it sooooo much too. The waitresses were friendly and flexible; I wanted tacu tacu con Lomo and they made it for me. However, it was not you best tacu tacu. But the fact That they made it available made me feel special!!

I stay in sunnyside frequently as manhattan is sooo expensive. I've tried most of the Central American restaurants in the area, and they're all okay, but my fave by far is Riko. Feels authentic, foods wonderful, staff nice, owner engaging, and sometimes live music, what's not to like ? Also for nyc it's bloody cheap

Very small place, I almost walked by it without noticing the entrance but don't! No fancy interior, just great tasting food and kind service. They offer the ceviche courses as spicy as you want them, I had Mixed seafood with mango, spicy - and it was, but the sweet mango balanced the spiciness perfectly. Very good! Had white sangria to drink, also a sweet edge to take the heat off. Want to come back!

The two waitresses, maître de and to-go carrier were nearly running to keep up with customers and to-go calls. Even so, they gave us undivided focused attention and got our allergy-sensitive order perfect. There's an allergy poster on the wall, so they are very aware and willing to accommodate people.

We came in here because we were craving ceviche. So glad that we found Riko Peruvian Cuisine because we were very happy with our meals & the overall experience.. We arrived there around 4:15pm on a Tuesday & the place was very with people enjoying their dining experience. Restaurants are normally not very busy at this time of day. But, this restaurant seems to be quite popular with locals. We were immediately greeted by a hostess & the wait staff was attentive & helpful. I’m not real fond of restaurants that have a large screen TV in the dining room & this restaurant does have just that. However, it’s such a nice place for lunch that I will return. The food was excellent and the service could not have been more friendly. ¡Muchísimas gracias mis vecinos!

This place was right near Penn station and such a great choice. We enjoyed the food so much we ate here twice during our stay! The prices are very reasonable, the food of course was delicious and on top of it all the Sangrias were outstanding!!

I lived in Lima for 8 years and since coming back to the U.S., I have struggled to find an authentic Peruvian restaurant that serves my favorites - Riko does a great job. We went to the Chelsea location. I had the Tallarin Verde con Bistec (noodles with a creamy green pesto sauce and steak). It was well-prepared and tasty. My partner (born and raised in Peru) had the Lomo Saltado and enjoyed it. We shared the Papa a la Huancaina as an appetizer, both agreeing that it was tasty and pretty authentic. The menu had a fairly well-rounded selection of other Peruvian dishes (although I have yet to find a restaurant in the US that serves Rocoto Relleno--my all-time favorite) as well. Service was fine - not outstanding but certainly nothing I would complain about. Everyone was friendly and attentive. The portions were large and the prices were reasonable. This is definitely a restaurant that we will return to again.

Unique menu. All items were very fresh. Friendly, and attentive wait staff. Nice selection of interesting Peruvian cocktails. Good atmosphere. We loved it! You will too.

This restaurant is great, staff is friendly and helpful. Great Latin food. however small, and dinning can be crowded.

Service: quick and very friendly Food: delicious, good portions, well priced. A winner if you're into Peruvian food. Also great for healthy food on the go. Decor/Ambiance: nothing special, definitely not a place for romance, more for foodies

I took my family here and everyone loved the Peruvian food. We had a bunch of appetizers like ceviche, plantains, fried chicken bites, nuts with a tomatillo sauce, beans, and more. They were all good. The dinners were also amazing. My son and I had this gigantic paella in a large pineapple, which was stuffing and amazing. My wife had avocado salad which she also liked. The Peru soccer team was on TV playing in the Copa America Cup and the place was going crazy. I would highly recommend a visit here:

The Best Jalea Peruana I ever had!! and I have had a few Jalea between New York and New Jersey but this one is my number one choice from now on. If your in the mood for Peruvian food, go here! I recommend this place! It is a little small and tight for my personal preference but the customer service and the food were excellent!!!

We stopped into this small, 8th Avenue restaurant on our way to Madison Square Garden. We were seated immediately in an almost empty restaurant where an attentive server gave us menus and water. (The restaurant was packed within 20 minutes). We both ordered chicken and rice dishes. Portions are large and service is professional and friendly. We were there during happy hour and thus our delicious pisco sours were inexpensive (and delicious). We loved Riko for two reasons: delicious, authentic food and it's really, really inexpensive. The place gets busy and very crowded so don't expect a quiet, laid back dining experience.

Just happened to walk past this place and said to my self.. I haven't Peruvian food in 20 years. So I waslked in and was expecting to get a Pisco Sour. Nope, they don't serve alcohol... Oh well, I did get the half chicken with red beans and rice. 10 bucks with coke. Great value!!

People seem to love this place. It happens to be in our neighborhood, almost literally around the corner from us and we've been ordering delivery for a while now. We've mostly had the ceviche which is adequate, though somewhat more acidic than I prefer. Most recently, we were planning on a weekend night to order by Seamless, which gave an estimate of a 90 minute wait time. Past deliveries had always arrived within 30 minutes so this seemed odd. I decided to get pick-up this time just in case. When I placed the order I was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. I had never stepped foot into the restaurant before. It is a small space, maybe 12 to 15 tables crammed into a narrow room, and it is absolutely jumping. I arrived 15 minutes after I ordered, tell the host I have pick-up, and I pay. Then I wait. And wait. And wait. And wait some more. I finally get my food 30 minutes after I get there, 45 minutes after ordering. I told the host he should not be giving unrealistic estimates; all he did was look at me and smile weakly. Pork tamales were flavorless and a bit rubbery. The seafood chowder was even worse. The emulsion had split and there was a thick slick of cream on top. I haven't tried the chicken so can't comment on it. In my view, though, no food is worth that kind of unplanned wait, and this food is not worth any wait at all. I give it an average rating only because of past decent experiences.

I loved the white fish ceviche - With the seasonings and marinade, the ceviche was absolutely delicious! (Note: I ordered my ceviche to be mild, and it was spicy with a kick. Keep that in mind when you order.) My friend ordered rotisserie chicken, the main feature of the restaurant, and she was pleased too. The restaurant has seating, although typical of a NYC restaurant, it's pretty cramped and small. There is also take-out. Service was fine, although our server came off a bit hurried and rushed (he might have just been super busy.)

This hole in a wall place on Eighth Avenue has the typical thin steak done well with a well executed large portion of delicious green sauce in linguini ( better match than the "spaghetti" on the menu) and one of the best bargains is the 1/4 or 1/2 chicken with salad or rice and beans, again large portion pink beans- good taste. Next time we go, one person may get it salad and one with beans. Not a fancy place but considering that it is something different with reasonable prices, and the chicken is a bargain for the area, we will go there again.

This is yet another place I love! I've been here many many times. Their chicken is always perfectly prepared. Roasted to perfection; juicy and the skin is flavorful and really delicious. The beans and rice are as well on point. I often have beans and rice in other Latin type places and found it prepared too early and left in the pot to dry out. Not here! Everything I have ever eaten here has been amazing. Now, the best for last; the Sangira is also simply yummy and they are NOT skimply on their ingredients! The overall wine selection isn't vast, but it will get you through dinner. Go, enjoy!! Oh, and the service as well is very attentive and caring. Once the lady server forgot to put my order in and I had to wait a whole 10 minutes, ha! I got a free glass of wine, which took any real or imagined stress of the wait. I love it!!

Walking into the tiny restaurant feels like we stepped out of NYC into a little Peru. We almost walked past it. Very glad we went in. The seafood fried rice was very popular. My cerviche was very spicy even though medium so watch out! Good prices.

The food was OK (how can Peruvian food be bad?), generous portions, and tasty chicken and salsas. No alcohol, and be careful when you bring your wine -- they don't charge a cork fee, but the wine mysteriously disappears ! We got just two very full glasses (400cc at most) from our 750 cc bottle. No explanations given...

Having not really delved into Peruvian food we had a good avacado salad, rotisserie chicken that tasted like it does when you spit roast chicken, so pretty good. There was a breaded chicken order and a it did fine by a 12 yr old boy though expectations might be higher for others. The star was the paella Valencinas. Really really good. Highly recommend! And strangely I also recommend the lemonade. Good prices 4 of us for 60$ w tip.

My husband and I love Ceviche, and no one makes it like the Peruvians. Riko Peruvian was a hole in the wall--a 20-minute brisk walk from Time Square and it was worth it. We knew we were in the right place when we looked around and so a lot of locals—Latino, Black and Asian sitting down to eat off of plates overflowing with bountiful food—grilled chicken, fried sweet plantains, yuca fries…but we had an agenda and so we ordered the Ceviche Mixto—plentiful diced white fish, squid, shrimp and mussels ($15.95!)—FRESH & DELICIOUS! We were not disappointed. I am sure we would have gotten half that plate for more money elsewhere. We ordered paella for 1 (for the two of us) and there was so much food, there was no way we could finish it. Those 2 dishes were much more than enough for both of us! We complimented our meal with mojitos (nice and strong and not too sweet) and topped it off with freshly brewed coffee (they have no decaf) and a slice of tres leches to share. Yum yum yum. We would return in a heartbeat!

I am Peruvian. I live in Miami (where there are hundred of peruvian restaurants) so i can tell you honestly this place has the best Pisco Sour (Peru's most famous cocktail) i have every had. I went with my family, and we all order different things, i tried Lomo Saltado, Anticucho, Papa a la Huancaina and Tallarines Verdes con bistek. Wow everything was really good. My only issue was with the Anticucho, the typical flavor wasnt there. I am hoping it wasnt fully seasoned but other than that everything was great! The value of the food is about the same as in Miami so i wasnt too surprised, plus the plates are really big. I recommend this place! if i am ever back in NY i will definitely make a stop here.

The food is superb. The place is lively with music. Red wine is offered on the house. The rotisserie chicken is their popular dish. The fried seafood comes in small and large servings. The large will feed 6 people. Caution though if there are 2 people they will assume you will order Large so specify. If you order chicken to go cut up and in 2 containers they will charge you for 1/2 chicken twice and will cost more. An order of Chicken is only $10.85 but getting two halves is almost $14. Check you tab all the time.

This “zero-ambiance” Peruvian Restaurant was too small and cramped for our liking, but then, it is NYC. The best thing was its perfect location right across from the Penn Station – such an added convenience for the tourists. The greatest plus here is the delicious food and the friendly and pleasant service. We skipped the Appetizers, and went straight for the Main Course. Two of us ordered the Pescado a lo Macho (Fillet of Fish and Seafood in a Spicy Peruvian Sauce), one of us had the Picante de Mariscos (Spicy Seafood Platter) and the fourth ordered the Pollo Saltado (Spicy Sliced Chicken Strips with Red Onions, Tomatoes and Hot Peppers). The dishes all came with Rice and French Fries, and the portions were very generous – enough for another full meal. Our drinks were all made well – we had a Passion Fruit Frozen Margarita, a Red Sangria, a Tamarind Margarita on the Rocks, and a Belgian Beer called ‘Blonde’. Our server, Jose, took good care of us. He made some nice suggestions, and was very attentive, polite and professional. The place is an obvious favorite for the locals – even for a lot of cops. If the cops are here, then you know it is good. If you like Peruvian food, then this is the place for it.

I come to this neighborhood regularly for business and wanted an informal place to eat. Waitstaff was friendly and helpful. And the Peruvian chicken was perfectly cooked. Sides and sauces were perfect. Only drawback is no alcohol, but they let you bring beer or wine.

Stopped in for dinner before the Peru soccer game and it did not disappoint. Has lomo saltado and it was delicious! Staff was awesome too. Great place near Penn station.

I just came out of Riko's and a awesome breakfast special : coffee, toast, ham and cheese omelette and fresh orange juice (killer!!) for 10 bucks. Perfect to start a visiting day in NYC. It was my 2nd time for breakfast and was as good as 1st time.

Looking for a quick bite while transiting though Penn Station ? This was not only great food, but did not take long, close to the station and they had the world Cup!!! Winning

Came across this restaurant by chance. It was just around midday and the place was heaving with office workers, so we knew it couldn't be that bad. The place seemed to specialise in roast chicken, as lots of people ordered it. I had Ceviche - marinated seafood - which was lovely and tangy. My partner had chicken in a cream and mushroom sauce with fried plantain. It was well cooked. We also had a side order of yuca (cassava) chips. They were delicious. As the portions were generous, we shared a piece of Torta de Tres Leches as pudding - a cake that has been soaked in 3 types of milk and layered with ice cream. It was heavenly ! The restaurant isn't very big but we saw many delivieries being made and also lots of office workers coming in to order take-aways/take-outs. Do give this place a try if you are in the vicinity. It's not far from the High Line (northern end).

A friend recommended Riko Peruvian Cuisine and we decided to give it a try. Boy were we happy! The restaurant is pretty small and narrow but it had a very warm feel to it. My dad immediately recognized the music from Peru. We were seated quickly and the staff was very sweet to my family. We ordered papa a la huancaina, as this is one of our family's favorite dishes and they did a great job. It tasted just like my moms! We got a whole chicken of Poll a la Brasa to share between us with rice and fried yucca. It was an amazing meal that really brought back memories of my mother's home cooked Peruvian meals. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

Delivery was superfast through Seamless. Almost too fast - I ordered when I was 15 minutes away from the hotel I ordered, as it would take ~50 minutes to be delivered. When I got to the hotel, it was just being delivered. The fries I had were literally the worst I have ever had - very soggy, barely fried it seemed. I also didn't like the Green Plantains. The whole rotisserie chicken is a good deal - a whole chicken for $11 or so, but it was not my favorite either. Quite chewy.

This place looks like a bar and it is not a family restaurant, the waitresses only serve those who order beers, bad service 👎👎👎on top of that, they charge you for tips and they didn't even ask if we wanted something else👎👎👎

Unfortunately, I wasn't very hungry when I stopped by so I ate light here. The Sangria was great and all the other customers seemed to really be enjoying their food. It smelled wonderful. I tried the chicken and some Tamul which I really enjoyed. Hopefully I can return one day in the future to try other items.

I called for delivery. The phone rang unanswered literally for 2 or 3 minutes after which the line just shut down. I called back and I got a phone company message saying that the line was busy, please call back another time. I called the alternate number. Same message. I called the first number again. This time, the phone was picked up but I cannot say it was answered, because no one acknowledged I was on the line, and all I heard was background sounds. People talking, dishing rattling, and the like. I waited. For 5 minutes. Same sounds. Then I decided, since I'm just around the corner and had some time to burn, to walk to the restaurant. Just to see what the story was. Someone actually picked up the phone to apologize for the long wait, just as I entered the front door. The woman was on the line speaking to me, and asked me to hold a a moment, not realizing I was one and the same person, until I showed her my phone screen, and then it dawned on her. She explained that she was the only person taking calls. No front end manager. She further informed me that the person in charge of the kitchen does not speak English. Her hands were tied. So, no recourse. The restaurant was, however, at about 40% capacity at best. Not exactly thronged. And believe it or not, this is not the first time something like this has happened. The last time I wanted to order delivery, no one picked up, and I walked there to place an order. And I waited 40 minutes for my food. Which is simply not worth the wait, not for food of this quality, or any other. How does a restaurant or any other business for that matter survive with abysmal service like that? But for a radical change of management, this place deserves to fail. And it should.

In the Garment district of NYC (around Madison Square Garden) the choices of restaurants are not as abundant as in other districts. We decided to try Riki and were somewhat pleased. We ordered Arroz Chufa de Carne (and added chicken) that was seasoned beef, chicken and rice with beef and Jalea, a seasoned mixed seafood dish. Both were very well spiced tasty and enjoyable. The big problem that we experienced while sitting down is some chewing gum ( that was probably placed on the chair by some unsavory individual) rubbed off and stuck to my new pants. While not directly the restaurants fault they must take responsible for what goes on there. They made no attempt to make any restitution for this terrible event. I went to the restroom to clean off the mess. This completely ruined what would otherwise have been a goodt dining experience. I will generously rate them one star but they deserve zero.

Met an old friend close to Penn Station in NYC. Didn't want to go far, and didn't want to go to a tourist trap type place. So glad we found this little gem! The food was excellent, the waiter was incredibly friendly and attentive, and the happy hour drink specials were a great deal! Would happily come back!

Food was delicious and in generous portions. The chaufa arroz marisco (seafood fried rice) and the fish ceviche (ceviche de pescado) were very good. We also ordered a chicken tamale, a bistec (steak) with sausage, sweet plantain, rice, bean and fried eggs (which is a huge HUGE portion). The half chicken, which came with fries and salad (or rice and bean if that’s your choice), was simply juicy and tasty. Friendly staff/cozy ambience! Small place so be prepared to wait on Saturday nights if you have a party or more than four (yes, even with reservations). But all in all, it was worth the wait. The price was reasonable! The chicha morada (purple corn non-alcoholic drink) was aromatic and delicious. Highly recommend this place!

The personal special combos are great. Had the 1/2 chicken. Cooked perfectly. Nice and moist and a crispy outside. The sauces they provide had nice kick. Will be back
Go for the Rotisserie Chicken
The chicken with the rice and beans is the perfect combo that hits the spot. It's a great meal for a very good price for NYC. It's across the street from Penn Station and it couldn't be any more convenient!!
