We had boycotted Altesi, and were "dragged" there last night by 4 friends who are regulars and we are NEWLY CONVERTED. The young woman who seemed to be one of the owners and took our order was sensational. Staff was first rate, and really nice. I had the avacado soup then broiled salmon served on a bed of asparagus & peas then a cheese plate. All really terrific. And the seating was comfortable. And it wasn't over crowded. We'll be back.

Things started out great, with an outstanding tomato soup, papa pomodoro, and antipasti of buffalo mozzarella/heirloom tomatoes. Then the fish, the evening special, came-overcooked and tough. Our pasta, pappardelle, was gluey and dry. That was topped off by a chocolate desert that looked and tasted like it just came out of the supermarket freezer. By the time we finished, the local dinner crowd (5th Ave) was there, and the noise level was a conversation stopper. This is an expensive restaurant, but was recommended by our hotel as very good--???, sorry about that. Let the locals have it: others- save your money.

A nice crowd at this UES Tuscan bistro. Altesi delivers with an interesting menu and good service. Tables are spaced to permit conversation below the scream level. Altesi falls short on value, however. High prices don't always justify small portions. Don't get me wrong, the food at Altesi is very good. But it doesn't justify the big tabs.

The service was very good and the food was very tasty and well prepared. mouse bouche was a nice touch.

Had dinner here tonight with my wife, sister and brother in law to celebrate my brother in laws and my birthday. I had the eggplant for an appetizer and the ravioli as a main course. Everything was outstanding at this family owned restaurant. I would highly recommend Altesi.

Great location - close to our hotel. The restaurant is a nice setting & not very loud! Out door dining is available but, my fiance chose to dine indoors :-(....... House Chianti was wonderful as well as the Papardell. Our only complaint was the artichoke hearts in the Veal were very tough & rough.

TERRIFIC NEIGHBORHOOD RESTAURANT. Two nights ago I had butternut squash soup and roast chicken. They do the chicken differently and it's great. Dale had risotto and loved it. The owners are carefully present and very nice people. Staff, however, seems to have been trained at the Stage Deli and almost throw the plates.....they need to work on this part. We often find people we know eating here. Nice.

Amazing lasagna, cooked with béchamel sauce and ground veal...who'd have thunk lasagna can be light and delicious? their focaccia bread was out of this world, they gave that to us complimentary because they were just really nice. Their caesar salad was really delicious as well. Thoroughly enjoyed dropping $100 bucks for a dinner for two. You will too!

Not a Pizzeria, Not an Osteria, but fine Italian dining with reasonable prices for New York. They have a daily menu, which we can really recommend, as we were so impressed, we had to go back the next day

First time diner here and very impressed. Had been there at it predecessor Italian restaurant. It is in an old townhouse on the lower level. There are tables outside at the entrance and also in a garden. The tables inside are nicely my spread apart and noise level is low so conversations are easy. Very nice selection of appetizers, pastas and other entrees. We shared a calamari which was nicely coated and served with great sauces. I had a pasta with sausage rage and my companion has a pasta with veal rage. Both were pretty spectacular. The other pasta dishes were not typically found in other Italian restaurants. We shared a tiramisu. My companion is a martini drinker and she thought it was perfect. I had a nice vodka and tonic. The pasta dishes were plentiful. The bread is ok. The general atmosphere is inviting. The service was very welcoming, friendly and efficient. The meal without tip came to about $125.00. The menu is not cheap but the quality, serving size and service was fine considering new York prices. We will return.

Was here with a client and large party on the outdoor patio. Service was efficient, quick and always at the ready. The food was excellent.

Once you step down a few steps from the street, you enter a lovely space with a view out large windows to a small patio. We had early supper and enjoyed an excellent Sancerre and both had the Parma Ham and Melon to start. I ordered Orecciette with a sausage ragu that was quite compelling and authentic. My friend had Ravioli, but seemed to prefer the first course. We opted for just vanilla ice cream to finish. One comment is that the side plate is too small, and as the bread had tiny seeds, they were all over the place. Not very attractive to look at, but they were eventually swept away. The other diners were enjoying their meals, and I think this is a good place in an area that doesn't have a lot of choices, unless you head to Lexington Ave, and that is a totally different atmosphere.

Tucked in a small space on the UES, Altesi invites you to linger over excellent food and intelligently chosen wines. The menu is excellent - very bistro friendly food, plated beautifully and well seasoned. The service is good - they don't hover, but they are very aware of you. Its a good spot for business or fun - and their prix fixe is a bargain.

I was invited there for a lunch during Restaurant Week and, therefore, I really did not expect too much. I was pleasantly surprised. The offered a very nice lunchtime Restaurant Week menu with 5 choices of appetizer and 5 choices for the entree. That's a good deal for only $26. For the appetizer, two of us chose the Insalata di Anguria which was a really tasty watermelon and cucumber salad with goat cheese and mushroom vinaigrette. Really scrumptious. I only wish it had been a larger portion. Two of my friends chose the lemon sole as their entree, which they both described as very tasty. I am not a person in love with sole, so I chose the spaghetti/calamari in a spicy (not really) tomato sauce which was quite good. The calamari were soft and delicious; not rubbery at all (which too often happens). The wait staff was extremely pleasant, refilling our water all of the time without asking, and frequently asking how everything was going. For dessert, as there is no special week dessert menu, we looked at Altesi's regular dessert menu. One of my friends had the caramelized apple tart (sorry--I am unusual, I guess, in not being a fan of warm/ hot/ toasted/ caramelized apple.) My other friend chose vanilla ice cream in a pistachio shell which he said was quite good. Ahhhhh...but let me tell you about my dessert. It's called "Le Creme Bruciate". It is 3 small, separate dishes of crème brulée consisting of 3 separate flavors: vanilla (the traditional flavor), chocolate (a deep, dark, very sweet flavor for crème brulée, and the third was espresso flavored crème brulée--and all three were SUPER! I never had any other than traditional flavor in crème brulée, and I would hope somewhere some other restaurants would join in offering this special dish--it made the entire meal infinitely better. Go there and enjoy a nice restaurant but go there and select the three-brulée dessert!

Take about four steps down to reach the level of this restaurant. It is not often that I see on an Italian menu "Fried Artichokes Roman Jewish Style." These artichokes were sautéed and were quite good. The mild flavored Agnolotti filled with duck was disappointing, perhaps because there was a small amount of duck in each Agnolotti.

Located within a 5 minute walk from Central Park South on the East side, the restaurant is located in a calm and elegant area of NY, away from the intensity of Times Square. Our first visit to the restaurant, based on Trip Advisor reviews. Did not disappoint. An ‘adult’ restaurant, comfortable, nice feel, with excellent service. Ravioli as a main dish and side dishes all excellent with very good flavour. Sensible wine list reasonable prices. A very nice evening, will visit again.

We needed a dinner place for a 9pm seating for 6 on a Sunday! We had dined here once before and it had been excellent, so we were delighted they had late night seating. The place was hopping! Fresh, delicious, genuine Italian food. The second best part of this experience was that it was restaurant week in New York City. We enjoyed a three course dinner each with several choices for each course at only $41 pp. I had an endive salad for starters, while others had a tuna tartare with avocado. I loved the pork oso buco, which I usually have as veal, but this was delicious! Some others enjoyed the risotto with peas , or the salmon with penne pasta in a spinach sauce. The wine menu is extensive too and one wall displays bottles of wine. If you choose this neighborhood find on East 64th off Madison Avenue, you are in for a fine dining experience ❣

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel concierge around the corner. We asked for a quiet table and were seated for dinner at a round with a wall backing us - perfect for our group. The food is quiet tasty, and all members of our group passed around tiny bites to share. I was impressed with the food and the service. I would recommend this as a neighborhood gem and recommend it highly.

A great place indoor and outdoor with a romantic green backyard outdoor dining area, executive chef from Trieste Edilberto Soriano has always a very interesting menu, lots of varieties, Gluten Free Pasta and other dishes are available, great appetizers like the Porcini, the Artichoke and Tomato Sauce Pastas, the Grigliata di Pesce e the desserts are fabulous, large wine selection and great bar. Waiters are very attentive. Decor is clean and contemporary a great place for business or romantic dinner

We ordered a picnic lunch at Altesi on E. 64th Street. My Panini with vegetable frittata was superb; my companion's mozzarella and pesto was almost as good. Excellent desserts rounded out the meal, and of course the park provided a perfect venue.

Minestrone, carciofi, vitello and calamari (so salty these were not eatable) we took were by no means prepared by an Italian cook. Very disappointing experience for a pricy meal which tasted anything but Italian.

I used to go frequently to Altesi because the food was so good and the experience pleasant. But last night we were five there for dinner and none of the courses, even the coffee, was good. I won't be returning. Sorry to lose what was once a good restaurant.

Mother's Day dinner, my husband and I ordered from the special Mother's Day menu, our son ordered from the regular menu. We had a great bottle of red wine, bottle of bubbly water, cappuccino, bill was over 340.00. The food were good but the portion is just too small. Tiramisu was so delish! We are not big eaters but our braised beef ribs, no bone, three slices of meat about 2oz , my son's prosciutto appetizer about 3 slices for 22.00, etc. we came home and asked ourselves did we eat? Great service! LOL

My family and I went to a chocolate tasting in soho, after that we desperately needed some food. We were walking around and found thus amazing place ALTESI, the staff were super helpful, they accommodate a table for 10 in the street for us. Our server "Joe" was a delight, he recommended nice wines and we share appetizers. Main course was even better the pasta dishes were off the charts. We will definitely come back!

This restaurant is very well located. The food is simply amazing, the pear salad and the gnocchi were amazing. The terrasse on the street will let you enjoy greenwich village.

So for many years we have walked by the restaurant and just never noticed. We wanted to eat lunch in the area and went ahead and reserved. Many pleasant surprises from the clean and neat ambience to the thoughtful wine and food menu and the attentive but not overbearing service. Like many other "side street Italians" this is super - go for it

We met friends here on a Sunday evening. The restaurant has pleasing art on the walls to add to the quite ambience. There is an outside plant walled area, but we ate inside. My husband and I had the vegetable risotto special and it truly was a special dish. He also recommended his apple tart dessert. Definitely would return to this restaurant, especially because it was easy to have conversation without shouting.

Was staying on Park at the Loews and they recommended it. Service was fast, wine was great, and the food was excellent! i would go again next time i am in NYC.

We visited on a quite summer Sunday evening and had a nice courtyard table. Friendly service, excellent food and reasonable pricing. A very lovely experience.

Honestly, i had here the worst meal ive ever had in nyc. I had the poached eggs with porchetta. The eggs were hard boiled and not poached and the porchetta was actually bacon. The vegetables the eggs and burned bacon were laid on had been cooked in pure balsamic vinegar and tasted that way. My friends were equally puzzled. It's hard to imagine how they might manage to pay rent on Madison avenue. Avoid at all costs.

Very nice friendly staff. We had gnocchi ravioli and veal it was all very good ravioli was cooked perfect. The creme brûlée was 3 different types a bit pricey but still good.

This restaurant is in a great location, right near Central Park. It was very quiet the night we ate there with only a few other people in the restaurant and the food was decent. However, the service was lousy, the portions were tiny and it was expensive. We came there to celebrate the 50th birthday of my sister-in-law. When I told the waitress we were celebrating my sister-in-law’s big 50th birthday, she said nothing- not even “Happy Birthday”. That was the beginning of a bad experience. A server brought our pasta dish, which looked like a small side portion rather than a full dinner. Aside from the size, it was very undercooked and I could not eat it. I told the server and he argued with me, explaining that this was the way it was supposed to be. He did take it back and cooked it more and it was fine. However later he explained how everyone ate it that way insinuating that it was my issue. By the way, the waitress never acknowledged my issue with the pasta nor did she check at any time how we were doing. The next dish was halibut. It honestly was the smallest piece of halibut I’ve seen at a restaurant, especially one charging high prices. It came with a few vegetables in tomato sauce-and that was it. We asked for the check and again no acknowledgement of the birthday. I cannot remember anytime a good restaurant did not offer something special for a birthday, though maybe it’s different in New York. All in all, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone given that there are so many fantastic Italian restaurants in New York City.

I asked the concierge at the Plaza Athenee for a nice Italian restaurant and he recommended Altesi. The restaurant is in a beautiful townhouse and has a great decor. The service was excellent. I ordered the bucatini with meat ragu--it was delicious. Good choice of wines to accompany dinner. I highly recommend Altesi if you are in the mood for a comfortable italian dining experience.

We had a late dinner at Altesi Downtown after a shopping trip. The food was simple and delicious, particularly the pasta with peppers, peas and pancetta. The food is Italian rather than the Italian-American style offered in some restaurants. Staff were polite and the service wasn't intrusive.

Had lunch here with a friend who had read some reviews that seemed to be promising. However, we both found the food to be average at best. We had the Roman style artichokes as an appetizer which were, unfortunately, tasteless. The pasta dishes that followed were not bad, but nor great either, The remainder of the meal was also just "OK". There are many fine Italian restaurants in New York far better than Altesi.

We went there last night have veal scallopini rack of lamb and sea bass appetizers we had calamari and scallops everything was so fresh and good no complaints at all

Very decent food and drink is served in this casual Italian restaurant. Surprising for the neighborhood to find this level of good unpretentious food in such comfortable surroundings. Service was good and wine pours by the glass were generous.

The place is beautiful and we really enjoyed our dinner. Every dish was outstanding and the food is over the top. The service was attentive and the staff could not be more welcoming. I highly recommend this place to people who love authentic Italian food accompanied with the great wine selection. We will be back without a doubt and can't wait to return.

God device ,great food& reasonably priced. Also one f the few places where you sit in quiet surroundings & not having to shout to be heard. Scallops were wonderful as was the papadelle with mushrooms. My partner had the octopus salad & loved it.

I may be a little sensitive to noise so take that into consideration - it was loud and they really pack you in. It was however very lively and fun and the food was excellent.

Situated in lovely brownstone offering done very well done Italian classics and some hard to find dishes. The fried artichokes are as good as it gets following an ancient jewish recipe. Pastas are all well made and the menu offers many other good choices. Prices are a bit steep. But quality of high so for. Some fine dining come here. Service. Is a good point for dining here as well and the ambiance is quite pleasant.

My wife and I stopped at Altesi for lunch. We started by sharing an endive salad with blue cheese, it was very good. I had papardelli with mushrooms and Romano cheese - excellent. My wife had the spaghetti with cherry tomatoes and basil oil - she also thought it was excellent. We choose not to have a desert as the portions were very large for lunch.

This restaurant serves high quality Italian food in a lovely setting. The service was attentive, they have an excellent wine list, and the experience was delightful.

I always enjoy good Italian food in New Yorkç I had one favorite and it was shot down due to renevotaion and I went to this one for about ten years. So I had to find a replacement. I looked it up and decided to try Altesi. oh wow It is terrific Good food and excellent service what can you ask for more and to top it of excellent wine and value for money. Love this place

We stopped by for a lunch after The Met. Everything was delicious !! Great atmosphere and friendly staff!

Even on a Monday evening, the restaurant was full yet wonderfully quiet! The meal generally was excellent although the veal scallopini was somewhat overcooked. Their pastas are particularly good and the wine was enjoyable and not overpriced

We went Super Bowl evening so the restaurant was empty. Obviously made for great service. But more important food was very good. Planning to try again

The person who took our order was quite unfriendly. The waiter had no idea what he was doing. We were four and he stood at one position by the table and tossed out the plates from there as if he had been passing out playing cards at a card table. The food was average, made worse by the service.

We were having some tension in our group of friends so we acted chaotic but the staff were so friendly so that they avoided our tension to turn into something bad. It was a great relief! Having the experience of good Italian cuisine in Munich and Italy, I must say they do a great job in the hectic atmosphere of new york. The restaurant is very clean and pretty and cozy and calm. Absolutely recommended!

On a business trip to New York we took 3 clients out to dinner. Very good food, especially the seafood starter and the pork chop dish of the day. Unfortunately there were not enough of these to go round so one person had to settle for the lamb - which was delicious but they had promised him 3 chops to compensate and only 2 arrived. Otherwise the service was good and they did not rush us.

Went for Restaurant Week and were glad we did. The service was excellent as was the food. I had pasta with meat sauce and could not finish it. We will be going back.

Me and my boyfriend loved this place. I had the mushroom pasta, and it was amazing! His pizza was very good too! Te best part was the service from the waiter.. would love to come back!

This Italian restaurant on 64th st tucked away on a corner between Madison and Fifth is a delightful surprise. The restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere, plenty of tables, delicate taste in food and wine. The desserts here are very delicate and yum! The staff is courteous and attentive, which is a plus in busy Manhattan!

In Ristorante Altesi you ar going to have a nice time. the staff is a very helpful and the food is delicious.

We eat here, or at Altesi Downtown, quite often when we visit New York. We've never been disappointed, and have loved every meal. The service is prompt and friendly, only adding to the great dishes that are skillfully prepared in the Kitchen. We don't have one complaint about both Altesi restaurants, and recommend them to our friends when they're going to visit New York.

Checked coat when we first arrived. Coat was stolen while we were eating dinner. They waited til after we paid $500.00 bill with tip before they let us know. Made no effort to compensate for the loss of coat. I felt like it was an inside job. Food was okay but surprised the lack of caring that a customers coat was stolen in such a high end restaurant.

I returned to this restaurant on my annual Nov trip ESP for the tiramisu it's like nothing I ve ever eaten before if I could cook I d beg for this recipe.....lovely restaurant food excellent service also and dessert just heavenly!!!!!

Classic welcoming frontage with updated decor inside. Very friendly and professional service. The wine was flowing and the menu was inviting. A group of 5 people had a great evening.

On the first night of our visit to NY, my wife and I decided to go with Italian. We decided to go to Ristorante Altesi, a small, intimate and romantic establishment decorated with subtlety and taste. We felt very welcome, although I got the feeling the restaurant is frequented more by local residents which made it even a better choice. The service and attention given was everything one could hope to expect and done with a genuine feeling of warmth. For the meal, we shared an appetizer of fried calamari and zucchini with mint lemon sauce, lightly battered and very tasty. My wife had the Pappardelle (a broad, flat noodles similar to wide fettuccine) with chanterelle mushrooms, roasted garlic and she loved it. I had a sausage ragu, broccoli rabe and pecorino romano and was very happy. The quality of the food delivered with great service in a warm personal environment made the experience very pleasant. If I were to think of any negative aspect of our dinner, it would be perhaps that the noise level at times was a bit high, but not enough to take away from the overall experience. We'll be back.

If you are staying at the Plaza Athenee, this restaurant is only a few hundred yards away. First, they have a great by the glass wine list. Second the service is very accommodating and attentive. This location has been open only 6 months and is not yet well-known in the neighborhood. The food is solidly good, with some dishes, like the branzino as good as I have had anywhere, and others, like one of the pastas with mushrooms, good, but not great. The appetizers were terrific as well as the desserts. The restaurant starts serving breakfast and coffee at 8 am and stays open through dinner. So it is great for travelers from the West Coast whose time adjustment has not yet set in. I would definitely go there if I am in the neighborhood in the future. We had dinner for three and later lunch for eight - the latter with subteens and teens.

For a southerner, this lasagna was very different. The thin sheets of handmade lasagna noodles with just a light touch of cream and the best meat sauce, made this dish one I want to repeat every week. In most places, the lasagna is heavy and thick and too filling. This was the opposite - just right, light and delicious.

Hidden in a basement is a lovely little Italian restaurant. Seems to be a local hangout of the upper crust. Homemade pasta. Beautifully prepared fish. Reasonable prices given the location. Would go back.

A neighborhood solution for a good lunch, dinner or brunch. Good menu selection at very fair prices, descent service, too.

I am an upscale white-haired older woman. dined here last night (in my neighborhood) with a senior woman friend. I called at six and got a reservation easily for eight. When we arrived on time the maître d' could not find the reservation. However he did give us a table in a quiet area as I requested. We both orderedPasta which is a specialty of the house and it's homemade ; it was very delicious. The dishes cost $25 about the going rate for an upscale mid-Manhattan establishment. However the service was brusque and rude. The busboy ignored my empty plate while he snatched away my companions plate before she was finished and made a comment of astonishment when she asked for the rest in a box to take home. The waitress over charged me two dollars for Limoncello. Most of the reviews said the noise is moderate but we found it to be awful enough to spoil our enjoyment. It definitely needs some carpeting to cut the noise and on-the-job training for the staff.

Be prepared to spend 14 dollars for a bottle of simple sparkling water and 38 for artichoke risotto out of the menu when all the the pastas were 25 so you suppose would be the same .

Visited with my Love - brautoful Sea Bass, good Rose, good service - all round worth a visit for authentic Italian food at lunch time

5 of us went for a late dinner at Altesi. We all had different pasta dishes and everyone was happy. My dish had smoked buffalo mozzarella, which was quite smoky! they have a nice wine list and best of all, really good service. I've been there before and will certainly go again.

The food at this establishment is beyond Amazing! From the fried Artichoke and Kale Caesar Salad starters to the house made Pasta's like the Mushroom pappardelle, the orecchiette, Caccio e Pep are some of my favorites to start with. The main dishes are also incredible. The lamb, the chicken and of the fishes, they are all amazingly prepared and unbelievably fresh and delicious! This has become a neighborhood go to! Highly, highly recommended!

Visiting this restaurant was a wonderful experience. The food was excellent. I had the taglioni which was out of this world, the bread was fresh & delicious, and the ambiance delightful. I'm looking forward to a return visit.

East 64th street is a quiet street and the cafe they created where a few parking spaces generally are was delightful. We very much like this restaurant and on a lovely night it's even better than normal. Owners are very nice and want you to feel at home which makes it a nice neighborhood place.

Delicious food in a relaxing environment, even for Sat night. It is one of the few places I know in NYC in which you can talk without screaming since the distance among tables is appropriate. The only think that I did not like at all was that after finishing our coffee (after dinner), the waitress was walking around our table many times as a way of rushing us to leave. It was Sat night and there were still some tables busy.

Ate here recently with a small group of friends. The food is very good and lovingly prepared Endive salad had lovely balance of texture, flavor and perfectly dressed Risotto was just a touch al dente, veal tender and delicious All the staff super friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to go back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Altesi. Our concierge recommended dinner there, and we certainly appreciated his guidance. Delicious and well presented food. Even reasonably priced for NYC. Highly recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Ristorante Altesi. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The staff were all very friendly, welcoming, courteous, and helpful, and the service was excellent. The menu was very extensive and the dishes all sounded very creative, making it very difficult to choose. All of the dishes that we had were excellent. The portions were generous and the food was well presented, flavorful, and delicious! We especially enjoyed the appetizer of thinly sliced lobster over asparagus in an amazing green sauce and the fresh pasta dishes. For dessert, the cannoli, although not a traditional cannoli, was one of the best I’ve ever had. We can confidently recommend Altesi and hope to be back soon.

They could not have been more accommodating. Tremendous food in a very relaxed atmosphere. We'll be back.

Good quality Italian food with an interesting choice of pasta dishes. My gnocchi with duck and cabbage was very good. The food was served very quickly on a quiet Friday evening. Wine pleasant. Staff are very offhand however slightly spoiling the experience.

A medium sized dining room with a moderate noise level. Attractive decor. The food was good and the service polite and attentive. Worth a visit!

Nice place. Italian food. Good variety and good cuisine. Nice people, very serviceable. Somewhat on the elegant side

East 64th street is a quiet street and the cafe they created where a few parking spaces generally are was delightful. We very much like this restaurant and on a lovely night it's even better than norma.l

Another wonderful restaurant from Paolo, our old friend from Savore in Soho. Nice wine selection and excellent food in a beautiful location off Madison Ave on the upper east side.

Ristorante Altesi is a lovely neighborhood restaurant between Madison and 5th. The service, cuisine and ambience are great.

Intimate restaurant tucked down a few steps on East 64th St. We enjoyed the mista salad (simple green salad) and then their sea bass entree - cooked beautifully with a delicious sauce of leeks, shitake and blood oranges. Wine was good and service was attentive. Great experience!

Went for dinner on a Friday night, arrived exactly when our reservation was for, and they took us to our table right away. Interesting menu and specials. I had the carpaccio appetizer and a roast orata special, and we had one of the pastas for the table, and the creme brulee trio for dessert. All terrific. My only issue was with the wine list, which is heavily weighted towards Italy, and although that's not necessarily a bad thing in an Italian restaurant, most of the wines were over $100 (and they don't do corkage - the friends we were dining with had brought a bottle of wine and the restaurant declined). Otherwise, nice surroundings, friendly service, and quiet - we'll be back.

Altesi is an elegant restaurant on a quiet portion of 64th St off Madison Ave. Their outdoor tables are well spaced, service excellent & the food , as always, delicious. A special delight is their burrata with artichokes. Colorful summer drinks were refreshing & perfect for a lazy summer afternoon. It was a perfect Father’s Day gift for me !

Very good, nice preparation and presentation. Delicious! Excellent staff! Will go back. A nice neighborhood restaurant, quiet and comfortable, away from the noise of midtown. Nice wine selections in all price ranges.

This is a really good neighborhood restaurant with exceptionally good food. I am in a wheelchair and they have a great lift to get into and out of the restaurant and they are happy to assist (not true of all accessible restaurants). The restaurant is pretty, the tables spaced far apart for good conversation and the service is excellent. The food is really quite good. It is a great addition to the midtown east food scene.

We had Saturday Brunch here and it was tasty and well priced. Staff helpful and friendly. They allowed us to arrive early and wait inside. Food is good especially the delicate pastas and desserts. Must try tiramisu...Just off Madison means right in the Shopping District and not far from Museums on Central Park East...Good luck and enjoy!

have been before...again great location, has a very neighborhood flavor, stylish room, nice wine & cocktail list...the artichoke starter worth a try...

On my last trip to NY had lunch in this tastefully designed restaurant, I was 3 days wanting to have a shrimp dish and no shrimp on the menu in any of the places I was, well it was worth the wait shrimp served with black pasta one of the nicest I have ever tasted, a starter of calamari served with a aioli instead of the usual marinara was delicious but they saved the best for last Tiramisu like nothing I ve ever tasted before I ll go back for that alone! Nice staff, greet customers like friends.....folks stop at this one as you stroll round the lovely city!

The food at Altesi is fantastic! I have been 4 times for dinner. The service was over the top good on the first visit, which was during the first two weeks of it's opening. The other times the food was still fantastic, however, the service was spotty at best. Hopefully they will get the service together, because it is a great place with a cute garden in the back. Glad to have a good restaurant back in the neighborhood.

We had a late lunch here last week while visiting NYC. Appetizer of calamari was good. Pasta main dishes were all good. Had a nice Brunello with lunch. We split cheese plate and crime brûlée desert. Not crowded at all. Ate in small courtyard in back. Prices about the same as anything in the area.

Went with four New York friends and even they were impressed with the food quality and service. Nice room with outdoor seating at the rear of the restaurant. All dishes were good and the lamb chops opinion particular went down well. I had the chicken and it was just right. Not a bad wine list and reasonably priced.

Have breakfast, lunch, or dinner - all is great! Tasty food, not a huge menu, but enough variety to choose and every time an interesting daily special, very high quality, European portions. Perfect location, if you are walking in the Central Park, make a stop, eat and enjoy the food and the atmosphere. I come to this place very often, at least once a month. Very warm atmosphere, and very personal attention of the team. Great place! Hope it will remain the same for many more years.

My sister-in-law and I tried the dinner prix fixe during Restaurant Week at Altesi. The Italian food was fresh, the setting in the back garden was restful and the service was attentive. At $42 for three courses, we got value for money. I would go back and pay higher prices. Be forwarded that the restaurant entrance is discreetly located in the basement of a brownstone.

A delightful atmosphere...relaxing, warm and dignified setting in one of the primo areas of NYC. With Spring in full bloom we strolled from the west side of the park to Altesi where our party of six had a delicious and beautifully prepared lunch. The smoked salmon was a hit and the halibut dish delicate. Far from the maddening crowd ..Aletesi is simply a class act to be savored with superb service.

We had a wonderful meal here. The food was delicious and the service was very attentive. Scallops had a perfect sear, halibut had a great sauce, lasagna was also very good. We had a young child with us, and the staff accommodated us graciously, allowing us to order a small serving of spaghetti and meatballs, which he completely devoured! Yummy desserts, too. Thank you, and we will be back!

I loved this place. Had the steak - highly recommended. Helpful staff and a lovely, charismatic host. Don't miss out.

Excellent. Small gem. Had a party for 16 and they where terrific. Every dish was perfect. The staff could not have been more attentive.

Stopped in for wine and appetizers on our chilly Sunday stroll. Lovely room, very professional servers. Nice wine list - a half bottle of Chianti Classico was perfect. Did not plan to eat, but the white bean purée with their excellent bread encouraged us to order their artichokes, which were delicious. We will return for dinner on our next visit.

The atmosphere sets the stage for a great experience. The food was great and service to match. We savored our insalatas orto: shaved brussel sprouts, red apple, parmigiano, pecans and lemon & honey dressing. Lunch entrees were salmon with mussels and chicken milanesa with greens and tomatoes. Looking forward to our next visit!

The entire dining experience was just very average. Service felt rushed despite the fact that the restaurant was very quiet. The flavors of the food were just okay. There are many restaurants in NYC that are significantly better than Altesi.

Wonderful restaurant with spectacular pastas and entree's and a terrific wine list. We had a group of 10 and it felt like we were the only people in the place. Great service: Very attentive, but not smothering.

Given all the positive reviews here, we might have hit Altesi on a bad night, but this is not the level of Italian food you should expect in swish uptown New York - and certainly not at these prices. Expect to pay at least $70 per head without drinks (note: sparkling water at $14 per bottle is taking the mickey). To be avoided is the glutinous polenta with asparagus covered in melted (and cold in this case) cheese. Salads are ok, but mean portions. Our pasta dishes were acceptable. Nice place, though, with muted orange decor and friendly service. With all the competition in the city, there are better options offering better value.

Very good Italian food. Rolled eggplant, shrimp and asparagus risotto were excellent, as was the mushrooms with pasta. Very relaxing atmosphere and awesome wine collection. Had a white blend with our meal, and it was perfection. Beautiful and relaxing atmosphere. Would definitely return.

This is a very nice restaurant in NYC with a creative menu, excellent food, drinks and very well trained personnel. The only observation i would have is that it is a bit overpriced.

We live in the neighborhood and stopped by after a walk in Central Park. I’m sorry we hadn’t dined at Altesi before. We loved the atmosphere of the restaurant, the staff and the delicious food. You know you are at a great restaurant when you’d be happy with most of the menu choices. We will be back.

This is a wonderful location and beautiful restaurant. Food is fantastic and staff are wonderful. Sat outside in the back patio. Very romantic.

Delicious food, friendly service, modern decor are the main reasons to visit this great place. We enjoyed every dish! Highly recommend!

This is my third time eating Ristorante Altesi. Each time different taste, fine natural and flovourful dishes, very good service. I highly recommend to everyone who like Tuscan kitchen. Small but elegant restaurant with selection of very good wine.

This was our second time at Altesi. First was lunch over a year ago. Our hotel nearby also recommended this restaurant. We had dinner on a Monday night. It was quiet but not empty. The staff were welcoming, friendly and not intrusive. The food was excellent. Many choices and flavors. Portion size was fine - not too little and not a heaping plateful. For appetizers, we had the carpaccio and mozzarella and cauliflower antipasti. For the entrees -- the fettucini with lamb shank and the parpadelle with mushrooms. They arrived fresh out of the kitchen and hot. We shared pistachio ice cream for dessert - very nice. The table was ours until we asked for the bill. We never felt hurried or ignored. Atmosphere is low-key; crowd seems to mostly be from the neighborhood (a sign the restaurant is doing something right). We also had lunch there the next day - the food and atmosphere is that good. Another delicious meal and positive experience.

We happened upon this place walking through Soho. Clean, modern and fresh. Service friendly, professional and knowledgeable. My husband is Italian and a chef / restaurateur from Tuscany so you can't fool him with the pasta or the lack of knowledge. Jamie is fantastic. Very accommodating. Great place for lunch.

Had lunch staff were rude and aggressive and unhelpful. Food portions are small, not recommend. Don't waste your time or money. A no no. Presentation of food is disappointing. No personality for the expensive prices they charge.

We had a luncheon for 10 planned at this restaurant. After arriving, we were quickly seated and provided menus. There were so many selections, that it was difficult to decide what to order. Most of us ordered a pasta entrée, all of which were delicious! The prices were reasonable for the area. The wait staff was efficient and accommodating to our requests. Would definitely return next time we're in the area!

Both my dining partner and I had dishes that were amazing - and not "typical" Italian fare. I enjoyed a ravioli with a pistachio sauce. My partner had a pasta with duck. Both were perfectly seasoned, very tasty, and well portioned. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of great food, sitting on the sidewalk with the mix of other guests, enjoying the beautiful weather.

We really enjoyed our late afternoon lunch here. The cheese/black pepper pasta was to die for. Server was outstanding, Restaurant was clean as could be, A definite "go back to" kind of place.

Altesi has not disappointed us and we have high standards. For several years, when we visit NYC, we make sure to have a meal or two there. Every time the staff are sharp, friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The food is consistently delicious and the menu is varied. Our recent meal: calamari and bietole appetizers, tagliatelle with shrimp and zucchini, and ravioli w/mushrooms all had great flavor, freshness, and presentation. We have noticed in the past two years, higher-end restaurants (in our ridiculously small sample of 6) seem to have limited dessert menus with the same 3 desserts - apple tarte/galette, ice cream/sorbets, chocolate mousse (or variation thereof). It would be nice to expand the offerings a bit and change them out occasionally. This is a tiny criticism however. The desserts were very good. We are not wine aficionados but their wine list looks just as good as it should be. Altesi offers a nice, low-key ambiance, a variety of dishes well-preprared, and professional staff to look after you.

My friend and I never knew about this restaurant and we have lived in NYC for a very long time. We decided to try this restaurant during NYC Restaurant Week. We dined here during Restaurant Week lunch. When we first entered the restaurant very few tables were occupied. The host asked if we wanted to sit in the garden and we did. The garden area was small but very tranquil. There was one other table that had diners. The hostess gave us the Restaurant Week menu as well as their regular menu. Bread and water were served immediately. My friend and I ordered from the restaurant week menu. My friend ordered the watermelon salad and sole. I ordered the scallops and the sole. My scallops was excellent and I could have eaten more of them! My friend and I also enjoyed our main entree. During our meal several of the tables in the garden filled up. Our dining experience was very nice and I will be returning here in the future.

Went for Valentine's Day! We got to choose a la carte over v-day menu unlike most places. I highly recommend the Trio di Gnocchi!

A pretty restaurant that has fine service and wonderful food. All the food is very good but the pasta is great!

The Altesi is a charming smallish place within a tow minute walk of the Central Park Zoo. The ambiance is open and cheerful, with a small outdoor garden available when weather permits. The menu is mostly Northern Italian with the usual complement of farinaci and seafood. The pasta offerings are a bit more interesting than most, with the cavatelli and tagliolini standing out. Among the seafood offerings the mixed grill, which includes lobster, shrimp, octopus and cuttlefish, and the branzino are outstanding. The desert menu is small but adequate, with the chicca (pastry, berries and cream) being a standout. Service is adequate. Prices are on the high side -- lunch with a prosecco will set you back around $100, dinner more than twice that. though high, these are not unreasonable prices for the location, ambiance and food. We'll be back.

Genuine Italian food with a hint of avant-garde, very good quality and great service. Last but not least, not a touristy place at all. A breath of fresh air in the City.

The food was mediocre. Service was uneven. Food is not real Italian cooking including ingredients. The cacio e pepe was prepared improperly. An Italian chef would know better. Salmon was dry. Grilled vegetables were smoky. There are a gazzion good Italian restaurants in NYC and this ain’t one of them. We won’t be back.

Went here for new year, fixed price menus were on offer, $125 per head, had a great 4 course meal with live music. Friendly staff and food was good Italian style. Pricey good area near Central Park

We had a fabulous dinner at this new Italian situated on 64th and Madison Ave. Service was great, the decor is beautiful and the food fantastic. 5 stars

We have been coming to Altesi regularly since they opened. The food is absolutely outstanding. The wait staff and the owner are extremely accommodating and helpful. Our friends who joined us for the dinner were so amazed with the food and happy that I helped them to find a new favorite restaurant. Altesi is absolutely a gem among many Italian restaurant in NYC. It offers delicious and the best quality food with the warm and professional service.

The food is good though not great. But the restaurant allows dogs and I found it unsanitary. Ivana trump's dog had its head, tongue and paws on the table. Not appetizing to me sitting at the adjacent table.
Excellent Italian Restaurant
We have been to this restaurant twice and both times have been very enjoyable. The food is delicious. The décor is nice—I like the orange chairs. Service is very attentive and friendly. We will definitely return.
