Food is okay, didn't bring the guac until after the main course. Food wasn't marked as spicy yet it was. I can handle it but surprised the rice was that spicy.

Been coming here for many years and sadly it’s not what it was. Food is still decent but no longer exceptional which was not helped by being served warm as opposed to hot. Decor has become stale and is definitely in need of some TLC. Drinks still good and service was friendly and efficient enough but in all likelihood I will not be returning which is sad since I have many happy memories of coming here.

Meeting friends who’d been at the nearby Lincoln Centre. It was their treat, otherwise our visit wouldn’t have survived our encounter with the staff greeting us on our arrival. We were a few minutes early - literally just a few - and two of our party have mobility issues. When we asked if we might go to our table we were told very brusquely that they were very busy and running things exactly to schedule. When we sat at the bar to wait - a request we had to make - a menu was literally thrown at us by an even surlier waiter. At this point we were very close to leaving, regardless of our engagement. Our friends arrived seconds later - still ahead of booking time, and there was no trouble seating us then. So much for schedules. The food was alright, the usual deluge of salsa, tortilla chips and guacamole to fill you up before the main course. Our server was hard working and attentive, though it was hard to order a second round of drinks after our main courses arrived. The room was loud and crowded, every inch of table space used. Not as much as a thank you when the bill was paid. You couldn’t pay me to go back here.

I loved this location and the decorating is super cool! The food is great and we had the most attentive staff from the moment we entered. Every person there has the customer experience as their priority. What a well trained team! Kudos to the ownership for what appears to be a flawless training program. Food was top of the line.

Unfortunately I was disappointed it is not like three years ago when I came the quality has dropped. Sorry The staff is always very very kind and helpful.

I decided to go for early supper to this restaurant after the good comments on TV during the days of the death. The tacos I ordered were too grease and the quality of the meat the same as well, the chips not homemade, in general this restaurant is not to have the best experience of mexican food. The prices are a little high for the type of food.

Pleasant staff, lovely food, wide variety of dishes (including plenty of vegetarian options), delicious (strong) cocktails.

My wife and I went on our first date 30 years ago at the west side RM. In New York for a few days and staying on Columbus Circle, we dropped into the Lincoln Center branch for dinner. The food is good, although two entrees and two sangrias set us back $89 before tip. The restaurant is so noisy as to make conversation near impossible, so be aware.

We got up and left. We waited 20 minutes seated and even went inside and asked for waiter as we had a show to get to. Still not one waiter came so we left. They don’t care because they have a good location do their customers have zero value to them. I’ve eaten there before. It overpriced Mexican food. Won’t go back.

Yes, get the made tableside guacamole. The 16 dollar version in the menu is made with one avocado so if there's four or more people I would suggest getting a double order. I know one or two avocados doesn't sound like that much but it comes up much bigger given the other ingredients they put in it. you can order it spicy medium or mild. We opted for medium and we couldn't taste any spiciness at all… Next time for spicy! I ordered the Malay poblano enchiladas. There were three which made it a lot of food. The mole sauce was very good, maybe it was a little bit on the dry side all said and done. Other entrées we ordered were also very good ... Suiza enchiladas. And a shrimp dish. for an appetizer we also shared an order of Flautas. The's have a nice chicken stuffing, and a nice dark spicy sauce on top. I'd order that again for sure. We were there at 9 PM on a Friday , we had a reservation and were seated immediately. The service was very good.

High-end, authentic dining experience at this iconic NYC restaurant; service is accommodating and outstanding, always with a smile, from a very knowledgeable and highly professional staff. Food is creativly presented with great attention to detail, ingredients consistently fresh, Drinks are generous. You get what you pay for and the epicurean offerings and spirited vibe at Rosa Mexicano is worth it.

Food and drinks were delicious!! Service was great and quick. I had steak tacos and my wife had fish tacos. Get the Mexican fried rice.

If you enjoy Mexican food and want to get away from the crowds at some of the other restaurants better known in the area then this is the place to go. From the time you enter until you pay and go on your way the experience is a positive one. The restaurant is airy, clean and quite pleasant. The service is excellent. Our waiter was glad to answer all our questions and make suggestions as well. The menu is contemporary Mexican and offers a wide range of selections. I ordered the Hongos one of the Tacos. This is listed as vegetarian and gluten free and includes grilled mushrooms, black bean, roasted red and yellow peppers, grilled corn, cabbage and chile de arbor salsa. It was excellent and filling. Prices are fair and competitive. Tables were far enough apart that you could enjoy a good conversation with your friends.

The best thing about this restaurant is the guacamole....definitely start with it....the rest is ok....nothing to write home about

Food was good...spicy for my boyfriend but good for me. There was an issue with a lost phone though and I want to believe it doesn't happen often here, but my phone was "lost" and find my iPhone located it at the establishment, yet it still couldn't be found. Not happy after that.

Found this place while I was walking around nearby. It was full and had a nice patio so I tried it - mistake. It's clear this place is only in business because of its location to Lincoln Center and attraction to tourists. I only had the guac and ceviche, so my review is based on that. The guac was good, but the ceviche was so so bad. I got the trio, and I take the blame for not reading all the descriptions - but I did not expect what I got. Some of the cevich was in a cocktail sauce, some were in a thick mango salsa, and some in a mayo-based coating. They should not call it ceviche. I couldn't stomach a bite of it. My friend, not wanting to waste, ate the majority of it but I was disgusted just watching him eat it. Go to this place if you must. Maybe you will like it if you've never had Mexican food before. Try the sauce-covered seafood that should NOT be called ceviche at your own risk. There are so many more options just a couple more blocks away... keep walking.

Sat down at 5:47 and had to wait til 6:01 to get service. When the waiter finally came to my table he informed me the 3:00 to 6:00am happy hour was over.

Second time we’ve been to this restaurant in our travels to NYC. Five years between travels. Both times it was absolutely fantastic. Personnel are very generous. The guacamole is a major hit!

While visiting NYC, we had Mexican food two times. The contrast could hardly have been bigger. Friendly waiters mix the guacamole to your specifications right at your table. Every food staple we tried - from quesadillas to meat dishes - was well prepared and tasty. And they serve excellent non-alcoholic fruit cocktails (it was lunchtime!). Needless to remark, we liked the place.

My wife and I were in NYC for the Global Citizens Festival in Central Park. The concert line up was amazing with Queen as the headliners. My daughter had lived in New York for a few years before moving to London and gave us a list of some of her favorite restaurants. I've got to say, the only one that stood out for me was Rosa Mexican. It was outstanding, in fact we ate there twice in the same day, for lunch before the concert and again late night after the concert. We had the Carnitas, guacamole made fresh at your table and some spicy shrimp. Honestly, I don't think anything on their menu would have been disappointing, just wish we could go back and try some other dishes. They make some unique margaritas as well. I'm not a umbrella drink kind of guy but the pomegranate margarita was awesome. We are from Colorado and are surrounded by excellent Mexican restaurants. Rosa Mexican would rank among the best. I highly recommend you give them a try next time you're in NYC.

Came here for dinner . Luckily we had reserved a table as the place was so busy. Great atmosphere and very tasty food at reasonable price

Went here for restaurant week, the food was great. The shrimp and empanas appetizers were super. I had the flank steak that was huge and perfectly cooked. Services was professional and courteous, but very, very slow. It should be noted that this is a very loud establishment.

Used Chownow. Absolutely terrible experience. Still waiting for our $63.18 order from Rosa Mexicano Restaurant in NYC 4 hours later. We even included a tip for the driver. ChowNow, after 12 minutes on hold, says that the additional hold time will be 2 hours. No answer using online chat, just longer than usual time to respond. Tried the restaurant and left a message. 4 hours later, no response. Miserable Cinco de Mayo. Normally we love dining in at Rosa Mexicano--it's 10 blocks from our apartment in NYC. We understand that these are unusual times and it's a "holiday", but come on...

I have been to one of the New York City locations in the past and had a great experience. The Riverside Square Mall location was quite the opposite. Our waiter was unfriendly, rude and as I was trying to give my cocktail order, he was walking away before I could even get my words out. Also it took a good 20 minutes before he even came over to our table. We tried to flag him down to order some appetizers and he wouldn't even look our way. There was one nice waitress who wasn't assigned to our table who witnessed how frustrated we were getting and came over and took our appetizer order. Asking for water was another problem. When a staff member finally came with a pitcher of water, there were no water glasses so he left without giving us water. Once again, we had to ask some random waitor for water glasses. Our order of their famous guacamole was half the size I have had in the past. My friend wanted sour cream with her quesadilla and after repeated requests, she finally got some when her food was cold . We asked for decaf coffee at the end of the meal and of course we were told the restaurant only offered caffinated coffee which tasted like it had been sitting there for hours. The food and portions went way downhill from past experiences with this restaurant chain. The restaurant is way too expensive to have such horrible service. We won't be going back!!!

I chose this place for location, across from Damrosch Park, and it was restaurant week. I made a reservation w/ OPENTABLE and was seated right away but service was slow even with all these fast moving people. However, the food was good! I had a shrimp appetizer that was similar to ceviche. May I suggest more plantains with this dish? Then I had the pork entree which was cooked and served in a wrapped banana leaf-pretty-accompanied by beans and rice. And the cheesecake dessert was a great end to a meal. I think I’ll go back and try other dishes maybe when less busy.

Excellent dinner and drinks! We would recommend it to all visiting NYC! Thank you for a lovely meal!

Loved everything about it - the seating outdoors , the vibe of the bustling city, the great service and the fantastic food. Definitely try their pomegranate margaritas and their guacamole is to die for.

Before Covid, we used to go to Rosa Mexican regularly. I always ordered the chicken fajitas (what they called chicken tacos). They were great. We finally went back and I ordered what the waiter said was essentially the same dish. It wasn't. It was missing the rice, beans, cheese, sauces, etc. -everything that made the dish great. It just had some really awful tasting chicken with literally nothing else but a small peper. I was really shocked at how much the food quality deteriorated.

Food was excellent, I got beef enchiladas and my wife got the ceviche. Everything was tasteful and filling. Drinks were also good. Music is a bit too loud for our taste and talking was hard.

The guacamole made at your table was outstanding. Very creamy and tasty with as many tortilla chips as you want. A pitcher of white wine sangria quenched our thirst. Appetizers included Flautas de Pollo and Empanada de Pollo ... both were very tasty. Our party of five enjoyed entrees of Alambre Mexicana, Alambre Camarones, Pescado Primavera, Quesadilla de Rajas and Tampiquena de Carne ... all tasted wonderful and filling! The topper was dessert which was Flan de Rosa (smooth and creamy) and 2 orders of Tres Leches (oversized loafs of sponge cake dipped in milk and creme) that were simply divine in texture and taste. Overall an outstanding meal with excellent service headed by our waiter Leopoldo. A must visit again restaurant!

I was in the area and really wanted tacos. It was a solo trip and I thought I could just enjoy being out the house for a moment. The bartender didn't know how to take my order, he asked me 3-4x what I wanted, they just opened and the place was empty. He got his coworker to put in my order. The passion fruit mojito was ok. My tacos were just ok needed more salsa.I was never even offered chips and salsa or anything else. All & all I would only go again for drinks.

Great place to meet friends and enjoy a wonderful meal. The guac was amazing, as were the margaritas. Each dish was delicious and nicely plated, especially the shrimp tacos. Very friendly waitstaff. Beautiful decor. Ask for second-floor seating, as it's much nicer and spacious up there. Reasonable priced for the City.

Best mexican food we had while in NYC and we will go back! You have got to get the guac!!! Best I have ever had.

Overcharged margarita and do not want to recognize it Guacamole without savor Busy and noisy A pity as concept could be nice

A very clean, well appointed, popular large restaurant. Service is excellent. Food very good and very fresh. PRICEY, specially for this type of cuisine. Need reservations, otherwise lengthy wait. Very convenient locale to Lincoln Center.

Really delicious and authentic food - can be recommended. Located very close to the Metropolitan Opera so fit perfectly with eating before the performance

My Mexican wife prefers this restaurant, of all Mexican restaurants in New York City, for its authenticity. She considers most "Mexican" restaurants as "gringo." We chose Rosa Mexicano for our pre-opera dinner, and were not disappointed. After my wife's Margarita and my Corona, my wife ordered chile relleno, and enjoyed it. It didn't have a crispy, deep-fried crust (which I like), but she said it was closer to how she remembered it in Mexico. It was covered in a green, leafy vegetable, which she also enjoyed. The rice that came with her dish was interesting; it was most likely prepared the Mexican way, fried first , then, steamed or boiled, and it had a firm, dry texture that we enjoyed. I had a trio of fish tacos, and was pleased with their texture and flavor, although my wife said it wasn't typical of Mexican shrimp tacos for them to use fried shrimp. One slight drawback was small remnants of tail in the shrimp tacos. For dessert, I had the usual Mexican flan, which was as good as I expected. My wife had an avocado ice cream sundae with berries, and while it didn't taste much like avocado, she enjoyed it. Service was prompt and courteous, and the price was reasonable considering the location. We would definitely go back.

We ate here many years ago before a Lincoln Center performance and remembered that we enjoyed our dinner. We can't eat as much as we used to - reluctantly, we had to skip the table-side guacamole. Dinners were Birria Quesatacos and Pork Carnitas de Cazuela, both very good and more than we could finish. The large dinner salads at the next table looked inviting - we'll remember for our next visit. There was a sangria special of $5 for a small glass - just right before the theater. Shared delicious Tres Leches cake, filled with raspberries. Bustling place, noisy even upstairs where the maitre d' said it would be "quieter".

Visited for lunch and loved it. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming. All food was very good with good sized portions and reasonably priced. Would defiantly return

There are several things you have to indulge in at Rosa Mexicano's. One of those things is the guacamole that is made at your table in a stone bowl. You get a choice of hot or not. Get the hot and wash it down with one of the signature frozen pomegranate margaritas. But don't drink it too fast or your head will freeze in addition to spinning. They have round tables that are nice for groups of around eight people. Some even have a view of Lincoln Center. Lunch is reasonably priced. I don't know about dinner. Everyone in my party liked the food.

Looked for something near the Empire Hotel and happened on this restaurant. Really nice selection of Mexican dishes beyond the usual Tex-Mex. Was packed on a Sunday night - good sign!

30th anniversary trip to NYC deferred a couple of years due to Covid lockdown but well worth the wait. Last night in NY and stumbled across this great little restaurant quite by accident. The waiter Jonathan went out of his way to help us choose a mixed selection of food which did not disappoint. Servings were more than adequate and delicious, and the dessert was amazing. Will definitely be back next time we cross the pond to the big apple 🍎

One of my favourite restaurants but hadn’t been back to NY for a few years. As usual it didn’t disappoint. The staff were lovely and the food was fantastic in a great setting beside the Acapulco artwork.

Food is authentic Mexican. Delish!! The staff are so sweet. My son had unexpected leg surgery 1 day before our trip to New York. I believe the woman name is Katelyn or Alyssa. She brought a chair for my son to raise his leg. So thoughtful. The service is excellent. The homemade avocado dip and nachos is a must ! Enjoy !

Food and service was good but they overcharged us $55.00 and then when I got the credit card bill, they added on another $20.00 to the bill that I didn't sign off on. Luckily I had a copy of my receipt. Don't go. They are ripping customers off.

Stressed waitresses, unpleasant and hardly had time to take our orders. The food was not a big shot and felt more like a tourist trap. Tasty tacos are available in NYC.

On Saturday August 25, 2023 we went to this restaurant on our way back from Central Park. We were 2 families and 8 in total including 5 children and teenagers and 3 adults. We didn't have a reservation but there were still plenty of places available. To our surprise, they told us they couldn't accommodate us because they didn't have room for eight. Which is very surprising for a restaurant which is not busy and which normally must want to make money. I don't know if it's our color (we're black) that doesn't please them, but they hesitated for a long time before launching into discussions. And when we came out and we were still in front of the restaurant, the two ladies at the reception kept looking at us strangely and talking to each other. Why not join tables? Weird

This was not as expected. Bad food, bad service and no atmosphere at all. I would not visit again. You will for sure find better Mexican restaurants in Manhattan.

The menu has a great spread of real Mexican dishes which you won’t get in the average TexMex restaurants. Your problem will be choosing which one to go for. The trio of enchiladas was particularly tasty and he Margaritas are to die for.

Location: We went to the one across from Lincoln Center. Pros: The craft cocktails are really good. The guacamole - which they make table side - is fantastic. The food was really good and plentiful. Upstairs is much brighter and open than downstairs, so I recommend you eat upstairs. Service was good. Con: Mexican food is typically less expensive at other restaurants, so you might be slightly surprised by the bill, but the location and quality of the food militate a higher cost. Bottom Line: We will definitely be back.

Expected so much!!! The guacamole was bland as was the very under salted tortilla chips. The mushroom tacos were just bad. Those were the only 2 dishes I could eat, as they are the only vegan options.

Outstanding Mexican restaurant ! The food and margaritas were excellent. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting New York City.

Celebrated my birthday dinner here, and they were very accommodating with a toddler in tow. We had 6pm reservations, and were not expected for it to be busy, but it was! Bringing a social toddler is an event itself, so we were prepared to order him his meal (chicken quesadilla which came with beans and rice) as soon as we sat down. The complimentary chips were fantastic! We were there during their 2-course special so we ordered that as well the shrimp ceviche and the enchiladas. The cocktail special was great, too! The ceviche was excellent and a large portion. Unfortunately, the toddler decided that it was time to go home (aka getting fussy and not wanting to stay in his high chair), so our server happily provided boxes for our entrees. Since I forgot the toddler's utensils, they gave us a smaller fork to use which was a nice touch! Wish we could have stayed longer, but glad to have a great time while we were there! The atmosphere was great!

We went for Brunch and sat outside. We did go n and the Tables inside also looked very safe with a lot of space between patrons. Staff was nice and food was good. I had the churros French toast which is one of the best French toasts I’ve ever had.

Bad food, poor quality. After dropping water on the ground the waiter cleaned using a guest napkin, even worse using the foot. Never again

The restaurant and its staff was AMAZING. I could not have asked for a better experience. I went with a friend of mine to see the opera, both of us had weight loss surgery and we can’t eat fast. We never felt pressured to leave and we received attention from every passing server, not just ours. The food and drinks were to die for and even when I warmed it up the next day at home it was still delicious. There are so many more things on the menu I want to taste. I will be back.

The food here is excellent, especially the guac that they make in front of you. It is on the pricier side, even for Manhattan, but the atmosphere, food, drinks, and proximity to the shows at Lincoln Center more than make up for it.

The food was extremely sub par. A guy who is a fellow New Yorker said “It is the PF Chang of Mexican. He is spot on. This place has unfortunately gone very down hill. Very mediocre food and bad service..

The food was great! As good as always. However the service was awful. We spoke to management who did not care in anyway. They basically told us tough luck. We have been coming for years. No longer.

Went here for dinner before a show at Lincoln Center. Not our first visit so knew overall what to expect. Had a reservation and were seated on time, given tap water in a bottle plus two glasses, chips and salsa and told a server would come by to take our order. (This place is always very busy.) After waiting more than a reasonable amount of time for a server to come by, my husband had to go to the hostess stand and request service. Someone I assumed to be the manager came over, apologized, and took our complete order - beverages, appetizer and entrees. From then on our meal moved along very quickly. More water was brought when we finished the first bottle and we didn't even have to ask for it. Guacamole made tableside is a standard popular thing here, and delicious (as it should be for $16). Get at least medium, unless you really dislike spiciness (in which case you should go somewhere else!) (Our chips basket was not replenished when the guacamole was served, but it was still about a third full.) The frozen pomegranate margarita is also one of their signature drinks, and it's terrific. Yes it's a grownup slushie, but quite tart as well as sweet, and really packs a punch. My husband got 3 shredded beef tacos which were spicy. They came with a yummy, sweet creamy corn side dish topped with parmesan. Perfect for cutting the heat. I got three different types of enchiladas - shredded beef in red sauce - quite spicy, chicken in green sauce - milder, and chicken in mole sauce, the mildest of the three. Wish I'd been served the corn too; the beef was too spicy for me. We received a bowl of rice and refried beans to share. I really wish there had been crumbled queso fresco or blanco on my enchiladas and/or more cheese in them, as well as more cilantro and some sour cream on the side to cut through the heat. For dessert we shared a "Mexican chocolate cake" that was so good I was in heaven. Very like a flourless chocolate torte, but tall, with kahlua whipped cream and a strawberry drizzle. "Mexican chocolate ice cream" is however just plain old chocolate ice cream, and average at best. Skip it unless you brought kids. My husband ordered coffee and the server forgot to bring it. On the other hand, he served us a dish of ice cream that was half melted, but realized it and brought us another one to make up for it even though we hadn't said anything about the first one. Overall the deliciousness overrode the service glitches and we still love Rosa Mexicano. (Note: the restrooms are on the second floor and I don't think there's an elevator.)

Good night! Passing to prestige the place and the service! What a top place!!! Oh, and Nanda is a maravigold! Gives super tips for food and drinks. Congratulations for the establishment, for the care and welcoming! Bjinhooos Nai

This is a staple on our NYC visit list. Great service, killer pomegranate margaritas and incredible tableside guacamole.

We had a reservation and still had to wait 15-20 minutes for table. The waiter was slow to take our order and we told him that we were had limited time since we were seeing a show. We had to keep asking about when the food was coming. By the time the food came out it was a mad rush to eat and leave. I would not go there if you have plans after.

Very good food here in the two times I have dined here. Service was very poor on the second trip. Twice we asked for small changes (chips and cheese only for the nachos, only cheese on the tacos) and twice they got it wrong. We ate the nachos anyway and when i mentioned the issue with the taco the waiter disagreed with me saying I was wrong. After taking our drink menu, despite finishing the drink 1/3 of the way through the meal, another drink order was never offered until we had 5 minutes left.

I really don't understand why this restaurant receives any good reviews. Food is ok but not authentic Mexican at all. Definitely overpriced. Went there many years ago too and got very sick to my stomach. Tried to arrange a birthday dinner there last year and they wanted me to sign a contract and do a ridiculously priced pre-fixe menu even for the small children in my party. I had no idea what everyone would want. Ended up not going there. My son also tried going there and had sneakers on. They said not allowed yet you could see alot of people seated there eating with sneakers on. Went again this past Sept since I was invited and again found food not that good and very overpriced. It was the general comment of our table also. Hope never to return there again and this is an honest review and similar to other bad reviews here. Not possible reviews can be so different so I believe management must be posting many of the good ones.

The food was pretty good overall. The restaurant has an interesting design, however it’s really noisy and hard to hear when the place is packed. The food could not be faulted. Guac was great, salmon was good, other fish dish was a bit dry and the flourless chocolate cake and flan were excellent.

We've been here several times, but this is the first time post-pandemic. It's still excellent. It's right across the road from the Lincoln Center. If you've been attending a matinee at the Met, it's a great place for dinner before heading home. Be sure to make a reservation - it's usually busy. There was an hour-long wait for walk-ins when we were there. Fortunately, we reserved. The food is splendid, and, unusually for a Mexican restaurant, not at all heavy. We had soft tacos with Carnitas, duck for my wife and pork for me. Three per serving, which is just the right amount. They offer a prepared-at-your-table guacamole, but we didn't bother - we wanted to leave room for the dessert. Dessert was Churros, four decent sized churros, with chocolate and raspberry dipping sauces. We shared a serving. They have a selection of Margaritas; my wife had a passion fruit. I had a couple of glasses of a decent Malbec. Our server was very pleasant - attentive and friendly. Not overly expensive.

Stay away . . . Rosa has seen better days. I have always enjoyed Rosa Mexicano and the food has always been consistently great. On my last trip, I was very disappointed with the drop in service. Almost 20 minutes between every response/request. Finally, completely ignored as we sat with Broadway tickets. Almost 40 minutes passed before we were able to track down someone to bring us a bill. The food is also slipping. The portions are getting considerably smaller. It is inexcusable to allow a diner to go over 30 / 40 minutes with absolutely no interaction from the staff. My "Go To" just became a restaurant to avoid. I'll be watching the reviews to see if the ratings improve. Not your best Rosa! I hope you pick it up!

There are plenty of more authentic Mexican restaurants in Manhattan, but none are near Lincoln Center, so this is your choice if you're hankering for something reminiscent of Mexican food before heading across the street to the opera or ballet or symphony concert. The food cannot be considered Mexican, per se, as nothing on the menu (except the guacamole and maybe the fajitas) would ever be served in Mexico. A better description would be "Mexican-inspired". Guacamole is fine, though it could use a bit more diced tomato. I like that they don't fall into the common trap of adding lime juice, which overwhelms the subtle flavors of the classic ingredients. Each batch is made fresh at the table and served in a fairly authentic molcajete. Grilled shrimp was okay though nothing special, and the accompanying rice was drowned in crema. The duck enchiladas were smothered in mole and crema, so you could'nt really taste the duck at all. Service is prompt and NY-style attentive. Expensive for Mexican -- no great surprise there. I'm sure they serve a good margarita, but we didn't order any alcohol. (Poor form to attend the Met sloshed.)

Food is a poor imitation of Mexican dood. Tasteless and expensive Convient to Lincoln Center East side restaurant better

Chef Raul Celiz - great chef! Cauliflower soup, Pulpo Tacos, Salmon Poblano, delicious doesn’t compare! This guy knows what he’s doing and then some! Bartender Ganga - her drinks, esp the Blood Orange Mexicanos…spectacular!

The duck enchilada was tasty as was the tuna taco. I was disappointed that the frozen Margarita machine was broken. It seems everyone was ordering the classic guacamole.

We recently had a wonderful lunch at Rosa. The Paloma was excellent (my wife substituted club soda for the Jarritos to keep the sweetness down) and I very much enjoyed my mescal margarita. Guacamole, salsa, and chips started our meal and a variety of street tacos and an order of elote (served off the cob) finished it. All delicious. The outdoor dining was wonderful with plenty of open air and heaters set up to compensate on colder days. The service was good...though I would never dine at Rosa if a quick meal was your primary objective. All in all a great experience.

My friend and I dined here and had no problem walking in to get a table outside for the two of us on a Sunday for dinner. We both had flavored margaritas and they were fresh and delicious. The complimentary chips are salsa were very nice. I had the fish tacos - very flavorful I definitely recommend. It came with a side of corn (amazing) and rice and beans. Highly recommend for dinner if you’re in the area.

We’ve been going to Rosa Mexicano since the late 1980s, first to the original location on Upper East Side, then to the Lincoln Center site, a more spacious and interestingly designed locale. We go every time we’re in New York, and we’ve introduced dozens of friends and relatives to the rich tastes of the dishes there over the years. Last March, we ate an extraordinary lunch at the Lincoln Center site, and lunch there, we found, was relaxed and not crowded. At night, we usually find it bustling, sometimes noisy, and on weekends, it’s also crowded, sometimes with a few noisy children. The servers there prepare and serve the tastiest guacamole we’ve eaten. Rosa Mexicano’s specialty margaritas are addictive, the Mexican beers ice cold. Side dishes served with main dishes add to the taste experience. Last May, they served a delicious corn dish with my meal, sweet corn laced with spices, butter and cheese, and they always serve black beans and Spanish rice. We’ve also enjoyed savoring several different desserts there. We’ll make reservations there again as we plan our next trip to the city. Visitors should also reserve a table. Visitors may also want to Google the fascinating history of Rosa Mexicano.

Every time I am in the city I spend at least one evening dining here. Nice atmosphere, great stuff and above all good food, the real mex one. Buen provecho guys!

Attempted to order the tortilla soup- a cup is listed on the menu for $5. The waiter said that menu was old and that they soup only comes in bowl for $14! Odd, since the menu online also says they have the $5 cup. Server took forever. Never brought a straw- we had to ask for it from someone else, also had to ask someone to get him to get the check. No chips and salsa! Terrible service from David R.

Overrated would be my summary The guy at reception was stand off ish on arrival, but once we got seated at the bar the frozen Margeritas were great. We had to wait for our friends and then they were quick to seat us but slow to attend. When our server did arrive he was great and very attentive and helpful with advice on dishes and drinks. The food was average and overall disappointing for the price - $330 for 4 plus a child’s meal plus 20% tip on top. We were ok with the tip for the service but have had way better Mexican food. Wouldn’t go back.

Used to be a fave. Guacamole bland. Steak tough and over cooked. Server was slow and grumpy. Not going back. Sad.

This place is ideally situated for those of us who wanted a meal either before or after a performance at the Met. In the past we've eaten here, and not been disappointed. Those days, alas, are gone. My wife and I dined here yesterday evening. Service was good - no problem there. The food, however, was awful. I had Duck Carnitas, which turned up as two enchiladas, stuffed with grey mystery meat, and coated with some kind of black bean sauce. The presentation looked as if they had been recently defrosted from the freezer. My wife's salmon Pipián was OK, but nothing special. Well, there you go. I understand that they are moving premIses. Best avoided until they've completed the process.

I was in the city to see a concert with my family and we decided to check out this restaurant. We ordered the tableside guacamole and some other appetizers. Everything was delicious. The only drawback was wit was a little expensive. The staff was friendly. We shared the tres leches cake for dessert which was delicious.

An outside table across the street from Lincoln Center on a great evening was just the way to start a relaxed and tasty dinner. For me -- a gluten-free pescatarian -- it was a pleasure to see a menu that was extremely friendly, and a waiter who was concerned about my needs. Two margaritas were just fine, and not just stuffed with ice. The guacamole with gluten-free chips was terrific. My wife had the Tres Tacos Pescado Plancha -- much better than average, and I had Pescado y Camarones Primavera: wonderful. Great meal, great view and people watching.

This was my first time to see such fresh guacamole made at just next to our table! So tasty! I order a chicken with cheese which looked like a pan cake with cheese on top. My fries ordered a shrimp menu and a bit too hot for non-Mexican.... Tacos were also excellent. You should try.

We ate at Rosa Mexicana last time we visited New York and decided to return after a memorable first evening with family and friends. This time we had our 10 year old grandson with us. The service, food and atmosphere were all as we remembered: faultless. The service was friendly and efficient from beginning to end, the food was delicious, the pomegranate margaritas were as we recalled and the restaurant has a real buzz. All in all another great time.

The restaurant itself was lovely and our server Santiago was so attentive. The guacamole made at the table was amazing and made to our specific requests - extra hot and no cilantro! Delicious! My partner ordered a steak dish and is still talking about it now! One of the best cooked steak dishes he has ever had! I had a vegetarian dish which was nice but a little lacking in flavour. The guacamole and chips made up for that. Their classic margarita was also first class

We had a great dinner! From the drinks to the dessert, everything was delicious. Service was also very good. The churros are incredible, they have a raspberry and chocolate dip that’s delicious, so good we ended ordering a scoop of vanilla ice cream to finish it, and they brought it in the house,

Rosa Mexicano on Columbus Avenue is a great spot if you're looking for upscale Mexican cuisine. Many of the shareable dishes are prepared tableside, including the guacamole—which was outstanding and served in a traditional molcajete. The chicken flautas were a perfect starter, and the mixed fajitas were flavorful and satisfying. It's a solid choice for a casual yet elevated dinner experience. Our server was very kind and attentive, but toward the end of her shift, she came over to ask if we wanted to close our tab or transfer it to a new server. While I understand she was being proactive about her tip, it made us feel a bit rushed. Ideally, this kind of handoff should be handled internally so the customer experience remains seamless.

We met out of town friends for lunch in the Upper West Side during the extended restaurant week in NYC . We chose the Mexican restaurant Rosa Mexicano where we had eaten before a few years back and had been overall very pleased. We were seated near the entrance on the ground floor and was told that the upstairs was not opened for lunch. The chairs were too low for the bare wooden table whose folded sides could open into a round table to sit 8 or more people. The restaurant week $29.00 lunch menu did not offer anything to our liking so we ordered from the regular menu. I ordered the tortilla soup listed at $8:00 for a bowl and an order of huitlacoche quesadilla from the appetizer section at $12:00 . My husband had salmon on a bed of kale and a beer. Except for the one oily and not crispy quesadilla that barely had huitlacoche, a few grains of corn and was cut into three small pieces, the food was tasty, the waiter attentive and pleasant. The only problem was at the end when we asked for the bill and I saw that the tortilla soup was charged $14:00, not the price that I had seen on the menu when ordering the soup. When pointing out the error to the waiter he replied that that was the new price. By then, my husband had already made the payment, we were getting ready to meet our out of town friends and wanted to leave. On the way out I stopped by the hostess to complain about deceiving patrons and not adhering to the published prices on the menu. The reply I got was “I am sorry”. If there are price changes in a restaurant, the menu given to a costumer should reflect those changes in print, by hand or verbally if there was no time to print a new menu. Rosa Mexicano should be ashamed of such unethical practices!

Had a great meal at the restaurant after a show at Lincoln Center. Location is very convenient and the food is much better than your average Mexican meal. The duck enchiladas with mole sauce were superb. Our server, Mario, was very attentive and pleasant.

This is an interesting place. One of the first things you notice when you enter is a blue wall with flowing water and little figures depicting Acapulco cliff divers. When you are seated you have a choice of selecting any of their numerous tequilas to construct your own margarita. Not being the adventurous sort, I selected one from the extensive menu. If you like guacamole it's prepared fresh right at your table. The meal was quite satisfying, but my personal highlight was the dessert of churros accompanied by chocolate in which to dip them! I could have eaten lots of them, but my wife said no.

Walked in and told a wait of at least an hour....after finding a perch at the bar, was called in about 15 minutes to let us know a table was available. Service was good and the drinks and enchiladas were delicious.

We stopped for dinner on a Thursday. The place was crowded but we only had to wait for a minute for our table. The waiter came right away and took our drink and app order. Our beverage were brought quickly, and our appetizer came right after. Our main courses came out n a few minutes and were very good. Their mole’ is very good, and their refried beans were excellent.

We eat here every time we come to NYC for meetings. This is our go-to restaurant before the opera (but we can't always get in because it is a favorite with out-of- towners as well as the NYC crowd). Some things on the menu are better than others, but that's to be expected. I trust the chefs so much that I try new dishes every time we visit. We were a wee bit packed in like sardines right next to the wall of blue divers (casting an exotic glow on our table and food). My favorite appetizer is the guacamole (that they will make without cilantro, which tastes like soap to my taste buds). Can't wait to return next year for the 2021 opera season at the Met hopefully when the lights on Broadway will return, and all the restaurants are full of happy diners. Our meetings were held a week before the Corona virus broke out. What a difference a week makes.

My friends and I visited Rosa Mexicano before attending the opera at Lincoln Center. We arrived early and the restaurat was busy, but we were shown our table on time. We started with the fresh Guacamole. I could have ate the whole bowl of it. Our entrees were excellent. I ordered the three enchiladas. They were all very good. I would not hesitate to return to this restaurant.

I live in the neighborhood and used to be a great fan of Rosa Lincoln Center but had two really bad experiences there last year. I decided to give it another chance and booked for lunch recently. I specifically requested an upstairs table. When I arrived, I was told that upstairs was closed for lunch on Fridays. Downstairs is extremely noisy and cramped and did not suit my business lunch at all. In addition, the main course chopped salad I ordered, which I used to love, is a shadow of its former self: mostly lettuce. And the upselling of guacamole has become tiresome. Regarding the upstairs closing, they should have sent me a message to that effect in advance, so I could have made other arrangements. I had been a regular at Rosa Lincoln Center since it opened, even going there for my first in-restaurant dining when restaurants re-opened for indoors, during the pandemic. But now I'm afraid it's three strikes and they're out.

When my wife and I went the first time, we loved it so much that I brought my mom and sister the second time. The service and food were unfathomable. We even talked to the manager and spoke highly of the waiter, Mario. But, the hostess at the entrance RUINED it the THIRD TIME we went back. My wife and I were so excited to go back and CELEBRATE our 25th-year ANNIVERSARY after work. I was coming from The Bronx; my wife, from Queens. It was pouring rain. When we got there, we were almost drenched, but it didn't matter; it was our anniversary. We wanted a table on the second floor; it's so romantic up there. The hostess told us that there were no tables available upstairs. I explained to her that it was our 25th-year anniversary. I asked her if I could go upstairs myself and check (there is plenty of seating upstairs). As I took a couple of steps, she called someone upstairs, and in a second's time, she told us to go upstairs that someone will usher us to a table. When we got upstairs, there were quite a few available tables. At that time, I was upset. The hostess had already RUINED the moment. Nevertheless, I didn't let the hostess ruin the rest of the evening. I could have given Rosa FIVE STARS, but the hostess CHANGED my IMAGE of the place, and I want the manager to know that.

Disappointing dinner with friends for my Birthday. The food was served almost cold. The Queso Fundido was greasy and had no taste. The best part of dinner was the Guacamole. It’s very expensive for mediocre Mexican food.

Went for lunch - enjoyable. Food was as described on the menu, and prepared nicely. We had a very good waitress. Wish I caught her name. Guacamole was prepared fresh, and was very fresh tasting. Quesadillas were good. I had the Pork belly BLT. Nice twist and very tasty. Thanks for a nice visit.

If you want a perfected guacamole, this is the place! Their secret Guacamole recipe is to die for. Their drinks are strong and well portioned. Their street taco was decent, although I had better in NYC with so many good taco eats offered elsewhere. And their exuberant price is also another reason for lower rating. With same amount of spent here, there are so many better eateries in NYC. Nonetheless, can't say enough about their guacamole and drinks.

Unfortunately, I wanted to like this place, but it missed the mark. The wait for service was brutally long. The food didnt come out for an hour, and the majority of our order was salads and quesadillas. The drinks were watered down, and price was high for the food and portions. Looked nice and the staff did their best, but there are other options that would probably work out better.

Michelle set us up in the Rose Room for a rehearsal dinner. We had about 30 people. The service was fantastic: these guys are pros, they've done this before. The food was delicious, and the drinks kept coming. Highly recommended for a no fuss/turnkey event.

This restaurant was a short subway ride from our hotel but was well rated on Tripadviser and was just what we were looking for. We had been to steakhouses and Italians so Mexican was just the ticket! The frozen Margaritas are great. The Italian Trentino wine is good value for NY. We started by sharing some tacos with 2 x Guacamole (we had mild but I would think medium/spicy might be better?) and some Nachos (2 portions to share with 9 people was fine!). Had a variety of entrees including Crispy Shrimp Tempura, NY Strip Steak Tacos, Roasted Mushroom Tacos, Quesilada with Grilled Shrimps all of which were great. Unusually for the US, the entrees are quite small sizes which is good after the starters we had already eaten. Nice churros to finish. Great service by Jonathan F. Recommend pre-booking as table was ready on arrival (although we weren't seated for a few minutes, inexplicably).

Great neighborhood, good food, and nice service--but seating indoors is so cramped. They've jammed too many tables inside, and there is no legroom under the 2-top tables. My dinner guest was tall and had to get up and stretch to walk around twice during dinner because there is no leg room under tables.

Why not? A little change of pace. It wasn’t bad, except that the Chamorro, Michoacán was overcooked and dry. The pork served with my Carnitas, Michoacán was huge. So I was more than able to makeup for the Chamorro that my wife could not eat, so we left full and happy. We thought that this was going to be an all 5-dot trip, but decided that we had to mark Rosa down to a four. Here is my thought. Rosa is suitable for New Yorkers, but if you are a tourist from south of I-40, leave it for the New Yorkers. Perhaps this will help clarify that thought—they take reservations.

This was one of my favorite restaurants, quality food and reliable Mexican dish selections. The menu has changed substantially and the food items that made it successful are no longer available. Items are essentially Mexican street food that is already prepared and easy to serve and turnover tables quickly. The prices are substantially higher and operates a la cart, unusual for Mexican food. Very disappointed and will not choose this as an option for Mexican.

This has been for years one of our favorite NYC restaurants, but yesterday was a bit of a disappointment. I go there partly for the mole poblano, a basic that every Mexican restaurant knows how to deliver. Barely recognizable! Was this a once off failure? I hope so, but I suspect that they're saving money in a (laudable) effort to keep their prices within a reasonable range.

The food was terrific. The staff was very attentive. The drinks were outstanding. the bar area is small but everyone is taken care of with style. Great find near Lincoln Center. Definitely will be back.

Table side guacamole was ok The rest of the food was bland, over cooked & cold Waste of a dinner in NYC

I had a disappointing lunch at the new Lincoln Center location on W. 62nd, after enjoying many good meals at the prior location and the East Side restaurants. The atmosphere and decor was lovely and lively. Servers were very attentive, as far as visiting the table often, but did not seem to be familiar with the food menu or bar items, and couldn’t clearly communicate answers to basic questions. The food itself was just okay, aside from the excellent fresh guacamole which is still prepared tableside. My spouse’s ceviche was bland, under cover of a lot of hot sauce, and contained about a tablespoon of fish. I hope they get their mojo back, but for now have crossed this off my list of places that I would visit or recommend.

Went as a family of 5 with 3 teens Service was excellent and very friendly Catered very well for gluten free with many options - taco, empanada, enchiladas. Food was superb. The guacamole was amazing as were all the dishes frankly Incredibly highly recommended

Fun place for special meal with family and guests. Bar area a bit noisy, but quieter tables available upstairs in the back. Delicious food.

great food for appetizers and fantastic food just off the grill, festive setting, good service, + good specials

If you seek to eat not quite warm food in the eclipsing light, this is the spot. Rosa is so dimly lit that even the beam of the Iphone flashlight barely cuts the dank darkness. The drinks were weak and the food not approaching a temperature much above the ambient room. The enchilada floppy and taco flaccid. My dining partner declared her meal and drink nearly flavorless other than the spicy jalapeno salt on her glass rim. While the service and hosts are accommodating and pleasant, our waiter had too many tables to be attentive. Better off at a taco truck.

The food was good. Also the food. The whole menu tends to be spicier that I’d like. There are gluten free options which is great

We had lunch on the patio and it was good.We decided to take the sampler ceviche and it was very good and sufficient for two people.

We went here for a drink and snack after a matinee performance at Lincoln Center. Decided on prosecco and guacamole, and although these are from different cultures, the two went well together. The guacamole here is amazing!! It is served tableside in a molcajete (black stone bowl) and served with warm tortilla chips and salsa. According to our server, the guacamole is made only with avocado, jalapeño, tomato, onion and cilantro. It is truly delicious. Unfortunately, the service was not as good. After we arrived we had an excessively long wait for a server and after the food/drinks were served it was almost impossible to get someone's attention for the bill.

I usually enjoy trips to Rosa Mexicano. I have eaten there in several different cities. Tonight I went to the one in New York City near Lincoln Center and I was really disappointed. It was very crowded and they didn’t seem to have enough servers. I sat there for a long time before anyone waited on me. I ordered the guacamole because I know they have great guacamole there. They prepare it at the tableside. When the man finish preparing the guacamole, I noticed there was hardly anything in the dish. He only used one avocado. They generally use two avocados. I asked the server about it, and she said something about there were single orders and double orders of guacamole. There was nothing on the menu that said anything about single and double orders. Usually they make more guacamole than you can eat. I ordered the cheese enchiladas and I made it really clear that I did not want onions on anything. When the enchiladas arrived, you guessed it, there were onions sprinkled all over the top. This was especially upsetting because I had an email with a coupon suggesting that I have a birthday dinner there. This is not the way to treat anyone in a restaurant, especially not on their birthday.

My rating this restaurant as average is not as bad as it sounds. Mexican food is tasty with many flavors. This restaurant certainly provided this, along with good service, drinks and ambience.

Reservations are a must. The salsa was incredible. The table side guacamole was super fresh as you can imagine. We loved the margarita on the rocks. The tampiqueno was tender and tasty. The plantains, while a simple item, were outstanding. The large pork shank was fantastic. Would definitely go back!

They cook close to authentic Mexican food. We liked the chunky guacomole however it was too spicy although we wanted medium. I think they should quit using margaritha mixes in Mexican restaurants, the margarithas taste and smell like medicine.

We have been before 2020 in this restaurant and the quality / price was good. The restaurant has changed the menu. Now it was a way overpriced. Small portions for e.g. a taco with beef is USD 22,00. The plate is small and does not even go for a starter

Great restaurant, five in the party and we didn't book so had to wait a while very busy over the festive period but worth it, food and service excellent at a good price, great tequila cocktails, had an excellent night go back anytime.

When you say Mexican restaurant, it does not give the full image for this high level of dining. This is a first rate restaurant with great food and really good service. They like to do guacamole at table side--really good. The menu choices are plentiful and very challenging to narrow down to the selections for a meal. We had fish tacos, fresh fish, duck, etc. The restaurant has two stories, with the upstairs being much larger than the first level. Similar to other good NYC restaurants, this one is pricey but worth it. Recommended. Open 365 days per year and just a stones through from Lincoln Center venues.

Decent place to duck in after Lincoln Center. Attentive and courteous staff and tasty food. Good value.

We love the atmosphere at this Lincoln Center location. I highly recommend reserving a table or you’ll likely have a long wait. This is a chain, so if you’re looking for an authentic experience, it may not be the place for you. We love the table-side guacamole. Service is friendly and efficient despite how busy it is. We’ve tried multiple dishes here and have yet to be disappointed. It’s a fiesta atmosphere for sure, so if you’re looking for a quiet place, look elsewhere. There’s outdoor dining, as well as first and second floor. We’ll return and recommend.

The nachos are supergood with home made guacamole, which is prepaired close to your table. Tacos recommended and for dessert churros of cource.

fine Mexican food. service was very good. and i recommend sitting on the second floor with a window view of Columbus avenue.enchilada was excellent and Guacamole was fantastic.very nice ambiance etc.

Great Mexican food. Guacamole is amazing .. enchiladas fantastic. Great tequila choice .. very kind and efficient service

A great Mexican restaurant, perfect for a dinner before Opera. Fresh guacamole tacos, and very tasty seafood dish all 3 fish meat was top! Tasty mezcalito, as well. Kind staff, attentive to all table details during the rush hours.

As part of our stay in New York, we visited Rosa Mexicana for our evening meal on our first full day. We had found it via an internet recommendation and it did not disappoint! The location was great, lovely atmosphere, busy and buzzing even on a Monday night, and the service was also fabulous and friendly. The food - wow! The guacamole and chips to start is a really must - the best I have ever tasted. Plenty of delicious alco free cocktails and amazing tacos. Loved it and would return in a heartbeat

Pathetic service. Uncaring, indifferent and under equipped. Took 90 minutes to get the order and that too wrong. We had specified and ordered vegetarian food and got a meat dish instead. The server said the manager will come as we were quite annoyed but not surprisingly no one came. No apologies- nothing! A real waste of time going here.

The food was very good and the restaurant atmosphere was great but the service was the best we had in New York City. David was outstanding in every way!

After 4 days of eating the same menu in Irish bars we stumbled on this restaurant I love Mexican food And Rosa’s did not disappoint Service was very good and the atmosphere great The guacamole was prepared in Front of us which I liked The enchiladas tasty and tacos mouthwatering Our sides of plantain and black beans were tasty too! Best meal we had all week If we ever visit New York again we will definitely return here Thoroughly recommend Great value for money

First of all, super rude waitstaff, especially by the bar area. Other diners who are "there frequently" get preferential treatment and many are surprisingly rude for the upper west, and staff thinks nothing of being rude to you even after you've bought drinks and tipped. Mostly everyone there seems in over their heads - our waiter rang up incorrect totals when charging our card, hosts squabbled with each other over how, when and where to seat people, one host wouldn't even look up from her phone call to let a long line know she saw them. Food is decent but highly overpriced (although it definitely isn't the kind of place that makes you want to tip, so there's that).

Terrible service. 25 minutes no drinks yet. Sunday night. How can this be this bad. Used to be good place.

I had been here some years ago. I decided on this restaurant because I remembered how good it was in the past. Well, once again it was a perfect dining experience. After seeing a show a Lincoln Center, a friend and i ate here. We had made reservations for 5:15, we were seated immediately. We were seated upstairs. The decor is lovely and beautiful. The service was perfect. I had the Cammerones (shrimp) and my friend had a pepper that was filled with vegetables and goat cheese. We also ordered guacemole which was prepared and served table side. One of the managers - Amadeo Agresti was always checking each table to make sure everything was okay. He spoke to us about the history of the restaurant and the recipes. The executive chef - Ed McDevitt certainly does a great job. The manager brought us some drinks - Margarita and a virgin mojito. The drinks were very good. For dessert we shared a tres leches dessert - which was outstanding. Thanks you for a wonderful dining experience.........whenever we are in the area, we will visit. Also, there are other Rosa Mexicanos - check their website.

Great menu, the food was lovely presented and tasted fabulous. Particularly enjoyed the freshly made (table side) guacamole.

This was fine. I have celiac and it was nice that items were marked on the menu for gluten free. The server also knew what I was talking about with cross contamination which was a big plus. I did not get sick, so that is always a win in my book. Pros: The queso fundido was really good Our server was very nice Mid: Most everyone's meals were fine, not great Con: The restaurant definitely had space and it felt like they were trying to push us out - even though it was 9 pm and there weren't people trying to get in. To clarify, this wasn't our server, but other servers.

Went there after Lunch time for late late Lunch, the Caesar salat with chicken was excellent and the margarita was super good!

The table-side guacamole preparation is always perfect, prepared to the taste of diners. (I always get an extra side of chopped jalapenos to help mine along.) The Columbus Ave. location is a stone's throw from the many events at Lincoln Center and is an excellent dining location, although if you are pre-concert/theater, it will be difficult to resist a second frozen pomegranate margarita, their signature drink. I have been to this location more than a dozen times; it never disappoints.

We returned for our first time since COVID has twisted NYC dining into a supposedly different experience. We were disappointed that nearly everyone was seated in the same section of the the second floor dining area. Other space was available but unused. We were almost ignored while seated until a friendly waiter asked why we had no assistance. Question: what’s with the manager? We had great sangrias (white & red), a special and very good appetizer (chicken flautas) and two very good entrees (beef tacos and salmon). We tried two desserts. The lime pie was unbelievably great and yes, better than the churros. So the service we eventually got was very good and the food reminded us of prior times. A Very good but not excellent experience .

a lovely spot for a nice bite, notably guacamole, before or after theater . very busy can be very noisy and without booking....difficult. but for us, who lived in nyork less than 100 meters away, a nice return, never disappointing

Today was my second visit post pandemic and under new management. In January, after three long years we came to celebrate our Birthdays some friends and I, after the Opera. The bar are was under construction, and I didn't see familial faces. We noticed Menu changes. My second visit the Bar was packed and José was back behind the counter, as our bartender. What joy to see him again! We were promptly seated for our reservation and we had a very nice dinner with Pomegranate Margaritas, Guacamole en Moncajete, Tacos(Baja Fish, Carnitas). A complimentary Mexican Rice/Beans came. The Tacos were very good. The Carnitas flavorful, moist. To finish Margarita Lime Tart with a bit of kick. We loved it!

I can’t write enough good things about this place. Start off with the freshly made at your table side guacamole dip! TO DIE FOR if you like guac!!! Sooooooo fresh tasting. Be careful as you can make a meal out of it! Shrimp tacos, fish, enchiladas, quesadillas EVERYTHING was delicious. I will be back to eat here whenever I return. Atmosphere was wonderful for family or business.

I have been going to Rosa M. at L. Ctr. for 30+ years. We were excited to try the new venue tonight. I will not be returning. The food was fine, the service excellent as always. But the noise level (accompanied by pointless music) ruined the evening for us. We could not talk without screaming. The venue is nicely done but is claustrophobic compared to the 2nd floor of your former venue. But, bottom line, I will not return. Don't you believe in insulation of some sort? Incredibly disappointing,

Dinner was very good. Mushroom quesadillas, guacamole and an excellent margarita. My two friends, one is vegetarian enjoyed very much their choices as well. The finale with the sombreroand candle on sherbet much appreciated. However, in this time of pandemic I would have skipped the sombrero which was on a different head minutes before (we saw it).

Really great last minute find - we turned up at 10pm for a late dinner after a show and were seated within minutes despite the place still being busy. The free chips and salsa were really good - a massive portion! On the waiter’s recommendation I had the pomegranate margherita and I would highly recommend it. We shared a few ‘shareables’ mains and it was all delicious, I happily recommend the restaurant to all.

The experience was lacking and, in this one case, worse than one of those national casual dining chains. I hadn't been there for years, and years ago I recall that it was a nice meal, and a classy place. Today, it was loud and dirty ... the carpets at the waiter stations (we sat between two of them) were filthy. Two items on the limited menu were not available, disappointing my guests. At the end of the meal, instead of the check, the waitress left an electronic tablet that requires the diner to take a survey. How tacky and annoying! I had to ask the waitress (who was pleasant enough) again for the bill. The food was edible, though some not served hot, and very subpar relative to Dos Caminos, also in NYC.

This is a pretty place but that's about all it has going for it. We dined as a party of six just as they opened with lunch with an 11:30 reservation and we still didn't get seated until 11:45. The place was empty, they obviously weren't in a hurry to open. Once seated it took 10 minutes for our waitress X-----a to get to our table. Service throughout the meal was simply put terrible. We finally ordered at noon and got our food at 12:35. Off the six entrees ordered 2 got a thumbs up, three a thumbs down and 1 a thumb sideways. So from my perspective- terrible service, a slow kitchen and so so food equals two stars.

What a surprise! We came for a quick lunch before the ballet and were treated to a brunch special. No, not eggs...but all you can drink for $20 along with traditional brunch foods and lunch specials. The waiter was a delight and both managers came by to thank us for coming. We'll be back. Suggest you make a reservation for the second floor or insist on walking up the stairs. The elevator is broken.

Great spot close to Lincoln Center for lunch or dinner. Very tasty guacamole.. made to order at your table! Varied menu to fit most palates. Great wait staff.

Was back here after some years: it remains a great place to enjoy the Mexican kitchen. The menu changed ( I did miss the dishes with Mexican chocolade!), but the margaritas the fresh guacamole and the various dishes are very tasteful. Also the service is friendly and good.

Another favorite and must visit every time in NYC. Bruch is wonderful and the food is always terrific. Great suggestions from the staff, fabulous!

Taking my friend to Camelot for her birthday and stopped here for lunch first. We had reservations at noon and told our server, Fernando, we needed to be done no later than 1:30. We sat outside in the wooden booths, which gave us some privacy and reduction of noise from street. Our experience was outstanding. The margaritas (we got them on the rocks with salt) were excellent, and the guacamole very fresh. Also appreciated the chips (still warm) and delicious salsa served at the table. My friend got the duck tacos which she really enjoyed, and I got the chicken enchiladas, part of a lunch special, which were tasty and juicy. We split churros for dessert. They were piping hot and both sauces, especially the raspberry, were addicting. We would definitely go back and have already recommended to friends. Again, thanks to Fernando for his great service and getting us out in plenty of time to see the play!

In this restaurant you can find real Mexican cuisine. Plus the staff is really courteous and professional. On the advice of New York friends we spent December 31, 2023: a beautiful evening.

We visited Rosa Mexicano on a busy Saturday night. We found the ambiance to be beautiful, the location to Lincoln Center convenient, but the food and service to be average.

Very rude receptionist, she left wait for a long time , waiting for a table with lots of tables free. Very bad managed with bookings!! Not much interaction between waiting staff and guest, it was very robotic . Also pushed to pay our drinks at the bar, we had no option to carry on your tab . The food was ok . But over all it was a very bad experience!!!

Bad Experience. The gentlemen who was allocating the tables was very rude. He absolutely had no idea how to deal with table allocations. The servers were kind and made the experience better after the rude customer service from the reservation gentleman. We have been to Rosa Mexicano few times and this particular branch has been the worst one.

We found this restaurant by chance and decided to have lunch there. We were told that the restaurant had only been opened for a few days in this new location in the Empire Hotel. It was bright, nicely decorated and very comfortable. The service was great. We did not try the guacamole because we did not want to eat too much, but it is made tableside and looked great. Our lunch was also very good and we would definitely go there again when in New York.

Loved it when we lived here. The quality remains 13 years later since we’ve moved away. Delicious food, great margaritas, stellar service. A consistent fave!!!

Simply amazing, authentic and flavorful Mexican food. The waterfall along the staircase and the bright interior colors makes for a unique experience. The service and the food made this a great experience and would recommend if in the area. The guacamole, carnitas and salsa was simply fabulous.

The best queso with Chorizo I've ever had! Drinks were good and strong. Mole sause seemed very rich and homemade. When I got he steak enchilada, there was legit steak in it. This reminds me of actual Mexico food from Mexico. Highly recommend this place!

Unfortunately, the best thing about our visit was the frozen margaritas which were delicious. The guacamole which was made in front of us was fairly bland (no lime juice, salt and pepper, etc). All the dishes we ordered subsequently arrived cold (enchilada included). The service was adequate but a bit lacklustre. This restaurant was recommended to us but sadly did not live up to our expectations.

This is my second visit. I ate here on News Year’s Eve 7-8 years ago, and again 2 weeks ago before a show at the Lincoln Center. Both were good experiences. The food is tasty and plentiful. The cocktails were good and well balanced. Service was excellent. The dining room is loud, and I agree with others that you should ask for a table in the upstairs dining room.
Very good!
Great experience as per usual at Rosa Mexicano, would highly recommend! The food and the ambiance is simply amazing at this restaurant. My only wish would be that when taking guacamole, the server be more involved with guests as was the case in our past experience at Rosa Mexicano's Washington. This was one of the highlight of our experience back then.
