This was our first NY restaurant on our recent trip and selected for locale to our hotel. Good - Busy, fun, lots happening, service OK. Food - was not consistent. I had the octopus which was from three tentacles. 2 were superb, one was not. Bad - Not really bad, but just noisy. To much for me i am afraid

Made Saturday reservations with 2 other couples a week in advance to celebrate our anniversary. They sat us in the lounge area with a small table that was very tight so we missed out on the live entertainment in the main dining room. The waiter was very short with me as I explained I was gluten free and dairy free. I asked for a vodka and ginger ale and the bartender made a vodka soda. The appetizers took an hour to arrive at table. I ordered sea scallops and steamed string beans which was very good. The other couples ordered pasta chicken and veal which were all good. When the bill came THREE HOURS LATER, they tried to add on a bottle of Moët for $100 and later explained it was a little mistake. The bill for 6 people was $600 and def not worth the money. The waiter was not very attentive and and it was a struggle to even get our water glasses filled. With thousands of restaurants in NYC, do yourself a favor and pick another one.

We had a wonderful evening here . We had a couple of drinks at the bar first and then went to the table . Completely bruschetta and bread where on the table already. I had a steak which was very tender and my wife’s pasta was good . Homemade tiramisu finished the evening off perfectly The Decor And atmosphere is amazing , there’s just a nice atmosphere. Only slight negative is when we paid the bill the waiter asked if we needed change . Bring the change and then we leave the tip !! Highly recommended you’d give this place a try.

My wife and I made reservations for Sunday night and had a positive experience. The food was very good, so if that is a primary driver for your selection of an eaterie, you've found a good one. It is unlikely you'll find the food quality disappointing. The pricing? Well... it's Midtown Manhattan. If the restaurant is good, it's going to cost you. Expect to spend some $$, especially on wine, if you partake. A bottle of wine costs roughly 3 - 4 times what you would buy it for at a liquor store... in my experience, this is typical for most restaurants and is not all that surprising. This is how they pay their bills; Manhattan isn't cheap. :-) You can check their menu and pricing online to avoid getting surprised. Personally, I found Rossini's slightly expensive, but not out of line with other Midtown restaurants of similar quality. The layout of the restaurant is... cozy. Not painfully so, but definitely cozy. Again, this is not uncommon in a Manhattan eaterie. Three or more people in a group will get a table. Couples, however, get seated side-by-side on a cushioned bench along the wall with a table in front of them that has to be physically moved in order to allow you in and out. For folks who might need to use the restroom in this stereotypical, lengthy Italian meal, having to slide your table around to get in and out can be a bit if a nuisance, so that is one negative thing we experienced... perhaps the only one. However, one upside of this approach is that you get an unimpeded view of the restaurant during your meal, and that made for some fun people-watching. We were happy that we had deposited our winter coats at the coat-check upon entering. That made getting in and out of this tight space much easier. Honestly, other than the bathroom thing, we had no trouble or discomfort at all. Overall, we had a good time and a good meal and would not hesitate to recommend Rossini's. I'm sure it will be on our short list when we return to NYC. It was packed, so definitely make a reservation or you might not get in. We used OpenTable online via an iPhone app and had no trouble at all.

Every time we visit New York we go to Rossini’s. If you’re looking for pizza and garlic bread go elsewhere as this is authentic Northern Italian cuisine. The clam starter is delicious but nothing compared to the fillet of beef “a la Rossini”. In all the times we’ve visited we have never been able to have a dessert as we are too full, but some day we will. The only thing we can’t get used to is sitting side by side. Apart from that we cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Go! You will love it!

A lovely restaurant, the food was great and the service discreet and courteous if a little speedy! My only moan, if you can call it that was we couldn't hear the piano player over the general hum of conversation, the restaurant was very busy, there are a lot of tables in the room. I appreciate you don't want music so loud you cannot hear yourself talk but as the owner and pianist had gone to the trouble to provide entertainment this went largely unnoticed. Old fashioned charm with tuxedoed waiters, and a cloakroom, well worth a visit.

Good solid Italian restaurant in the City. Food was good. Gnocchi was home made. My business partner had the lamb and he said it was fabulous. Wine selection was good. Prices were reasonable. Service was professional and attentive. Piano player was great. Dinner did not blow me away but was solid and pleasant and easy to talk with colleagues (no too loud) during dinner.

I've eaten at Rossini's numerous times through the years, and it never disappoints. It's an elegant restaurant with professional servers and great, classic Italian dishes. The bar area is a bit cramped, but main dining room is a great place for a business dinner, or catching up with friends. On my last visit, I met my cousin and her husband from Boston. We enjoyed the bruschetta to start, and I had the fish of the day as the main course. Excellent! Perfectly prepared. It's a great place for a special occasion. The location is good as well--just a couple blocks south of Grand Central station.

Had 20 people for diner to celebrate my birthday and was not disappointed with either the food or ambience price or anything. Would gladly return to eat with just my wife. We created a special menu and they were able to add some of our favorite italian plates just for us. Highly recommend

East side favorite where you'll be warmly greeted and treated to traditional Italian cooking. Tables are well spaced. Professional and friendly service. Reliable menu and good quality ingredients. Piano in the evening.

We ate at this restaurant as it was really close to our hotel. Didn't even look at the menu before we walked in on our way back from sight seeing Thought the front area was the restaurant but this is, in fact, the bar. Waiter took as through to the restaurant and we immediately realised we were seriously underdressed. In fairness no one seemed to notice we were wearing sneakers and jeans and we were made to feel very welcome. It was a Saturday evening and all the other diners seemed to be out celebrating birthdays/christenings etc. The food was fantastic and the waiter was very helpful with the wine list. There was a pianist and an opera singer (a regular thing on a Saturday night apparently). She was very loud and I thought my wine glass was going to shatter at one point but the other diners loved it.. I would definitely eat here again as the food was great. Probably not straight off the City Sightseeing bus though.

Possibly the tastiest Italian food in Manhattan. I like how the menu not only reflects the typical Italian food (pasta, pizza), but also the more Mediterranean side of Italy (seafood, fish etc.). The service is also amazing. On the corridor from the bar to the restaurant, you can also see the pictures of the celebrities that attended the restaurant. On the downside (or upside, depends on the point of view!), I would say that this restaurant is definitely geared for an older audience, and I would have liked the restaurant to have more of a "younger feel" than it currently has.

Rossini's is my Murray Hill favorite, hands down. The moment you walk in, you see smiles and just feel a positive vibe from the staff and patrons. The service is friendly, very attentive without being overbearing. The food is consistently excellent. Many of the dishes are classic Northern Italian but with a modern interpretation. All the dishes are flavorful and light without the heavy feeling you get in some Italian restaurants. In conclusion, Rossini's is the whole package: food, atmosphere, service are all top notch. I highly recommend it.

Went here back in January with some friends. Pretty formal restaurant with very friendly and service minded staff, reasonable prices and tasty saltimbocca. Quite intense Christmas decor at the time. Plus for a very charming entertainment from a couple of classical singers throughout the night.

excellent service ,romantic bar area, piano music in the interior dining area, extensive menu options

We had the good fortune to find this restaurant by looking at reviews online after attending a visit to The Summit. We were not expecting the absolutely amazing food. The courses were delivered perfectly and the wait staff was impeccable. I cannot say I have ever tasted a more perfect pesto. The seafood dish was cooked to perfection and don’t pass on desert. Hands down this was our best meal for this trip. Thanks for a memorable meal.

Located on E 38th Street, serving excellent Northern Italian food. Pricey menu, but worth it for a special occasion. Entrees start at $22 for pastas. Wines are expensive. White Bean Soup was delicious and pricey at $14. Live piano made for a nice touch.

Interesting space, with the bar upfront and the walk to the back for the restaurant. The atmosphere was fine though somewhat dated - goes with that upscale old Italian restaurant theme. Staff was friendly, but a bit slow on reacting. Apps: The fried calamari was just a touch rubbery, and not crisp. The buffalo mozzarella was good but the portion was on the small side. I had a classic Italian, veal Francese. The lemon was a bit overpowering, the veal tasty and tender. The cannoli cream was a little grainy, as if the sugar hadn't been fully incorporated into the cheese. It was tasty, but far from what I would expect from a "homemade" pastry. We drank wines by the glass, and they were very enjoyable. Based on the location, we paid the going rate for a party of four. But, based on the food, it was a little on the pricey side for what arrived at our table.

This is such a lovely authentic Italian. I visited with my husband and daughter. Unfortunately we had just landed in the USA after a long day of travelling from the UK. We were all absolutely exhausted and just wanted something quick to eat. The menu looked amazing (and the wine menu), but because we were so tired I just couldn’t face any of it. My husband and I had lasagna and my daughter had a pasta dish. There was someone playing the piano and the atmosphere was just lovely. I would love to go back when I don’t feel as scruffy and tired. One thing to bare in mind is that they really don’t like you taking your coats/jackets into the restaurant, there is a separate cloakroom. Being from the UK, this isn’t something Iv done since I went clubbing in the 90’s so it took me by surprise!

Enjoyed a business dinner at Rossini's - an old style, sophisticated Italian establishment featuring great food, impeccable service and an extensive wine list. Prices are typical of NYC fine dining. I had a delicious chicken breast stuffed with mozzarella and prosciutto, in a light while sauce with mushrooms, perfectly prepared and portioned. The halibut special looked great and the folks that had pasta could not have been more pleased. Don't miss an opportunity to visit.

Great food and excellent service made for a lovely evening. We would definitely re-visit if we are in New York again.

We went to this restaurant for the second time, remembering the first time 8 years ago. The dishes continue to be delicious. Beautiful atmosphere, worth keeping in mind

I have been dining at Rossini's since 1987. I have never had a meal that was not done very well. The service is awesome. The ambiance is very nice and traditional. The price is not cheap, but not over the top. Their wine is priced right. The maitre'd always greets me with a smile and a handshake. The waiters are ALL very professional. They do whatever is needed to make your visit comfortable. Last visit my wife had the fettucine alfredo and said it was the best she ever had. I usually get the veal milanese. It is unbelievably good.

On a sister's weekend in NYC, we had dinner at Rossini's based on its proximity to our hotel. Initially we thought the restaurant was empty, but the back room opened up and seemed to be full of local diners. I could be wrong, but it seems like a local Italian restaurant, and that was ideal. the waiter was attentive. the bartender made a great Cosmo. We each had veal dishes, and all were tender and flavorful. The cannoli is fresh and crip. I would recommend the restaurant and would go back.

What a fabulous evening on New Years Eve, great ambience, food, service was impecible, last minute reservation but worth it. Lovely food just a must if you are in NY

We pre booked here for NYE as part of a five day trip to NY. Chosen due to close proximity to hotel and trip advisor reviews. From the moment we walked in I knew we had made a good choice, it wS decorated beautifully and had a great atmosphere. Four course meal with several choices each course. The food was great. I enjoyed each course. The disco played lots of old school New York disco tunes as well as new stuff that put us right in the mood to party. New York New York just about put us at the top of the tree. A live link to Times Square at midnight made it just about perfect even if by then we were regretting a little wimping out of standing actually in Times Square! We had a great night and thank all at Rossini’s for that. The only tip I would give aside the very high one automatically added to the bill is when a waiter throws a large jug of ice water over a guest. At least a drink might be offered?

We stayed twice in the week our stay in New York at Rossini. Very good food. Very friendly and attentive waiters. Of particular note are the homemade pasta and the excellent salmon.

From when we got greeted at the door to the service throughout the meal it was one of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had.. every mouthful of my meal was delicious. My husband is a chef and is difficult to please and he was raving about it. 😀

We visited this restaurant as it was located near our hotel. It was absolutely packed with tables which made it quite difficult for the waiters to make their way around all the tables. It was also very noisy, as other reviews have pointed out. We opted for the cheapest half bottle of wine at $25 but were told they’d run out so they presented us with the $35 one instead. My husband had the carbonara and was pleased with his dish. I went for the tomato rigatoni with pancetta and could count on one hand how many tiny cubes of pancetta was in the dish. It wasn’t a very large plate and was extremely bland, all for $24. We had tiramisu for dessert which was very nice. Overall, we were let down by a mediocre service and one terrible main. Needless to say, we didn’t opt for the minimum suggested 18% tip and gave them around 14% instead where we were met by a grimace! Never again I’m afraid...

A couple friends of mine are in NYC for a conference and looking for a place to eat at 8 p.m. we walk into a modest looking Italian restaurant on Murray Hill. The maitre de was absolutely charming, ushered into a vibrant sprawling back room with a live piano player. The food was outstanding - from anti pasti to gnocchi bolognese on and impeccably served. Since I and one friend are elected prosecutors and another a Judge (all from different parts of the country) the Tony Sopramo characters were unfazed......

I just landed in NYC and Rossini was very close to my hotel. I went in solo and was immediately well greeted even though I was in casual dress. Old time service with entire service staff taking care of me. Veal dish was excellent and Rigatoni side perfect. It started with nice G&T to start and only got better. Food & beverage & service excellent for all - tourists, couples, business crowds including solo.

Fantastic Italian restaurant, one of the best in Manhattan. Very busy so you must book. Traditional layout, white cloths etc.. service is first and the food to die for. For starters I had king prawn cocktail and my wife had one of the specials, avocado and shrimp both very good. The highlight was the entree, I had the special pappardelle with a lamb ragout, amazing and my wife linguine vingole which was perfection. Not cheap but worth it...

Live piano music, lots of people, and loud. I'm thinking this is exactly what Italian dinning is supposed to be. Not sure why some people think it should be any other way. Some tables are close to each other but, I rather sit at a big table than be crammed in small square table like most restaurants now-a-days. I had a great experience at Rossini's and it was my first time. The service and food was good (not amazing or out of this world) but, good enough that I'd like to go back. While dining at Rossini's you get transported back to the "good old days" as one of my friends pointed out. You get the feeling that you're living in a different time and to me this made the experience memorable. Cheers to Rossini's…would love to go back next time I'm in NYC.

Been a patron since Ray opened. Before that, family were regulars at his Brione's in Brooklyn. My children and their friends live in NYC now and love it here. If "Old School" means tuxedo'd waiters, great food and service, opera singers - they deliver. Best to Ray, Gerry, Pino ....

We went for dinner three of us for a quiet evening. The place is very friendly and they try to make you as comfortable as possible. The food old school but ok. Big No....No....they offer to sprinkel seafod pasta with "regianito" cheese.

Came to NYC to enjoy great food. Rossini's restaurant went above and beyond our expectations. When we first walked in, our plan was to just order take out as it was after 8:30. I knew the restaurant was getting ready to close soon, but the waiter was so nice and had no problem with us dining in. Everyone was so wonderful and pleasant. They made us feel like family. My husband ordered veal parmesan. It was tender, flavorful and perfectly pan fried. I ordered Shrimp Fra Diavolo. I asked for a touch of cream to make a pink sauce, which gave it an amazing taste. As an Italian, I can be quite snobby about Italian food, but this restaurant didn't disappoint. Visit this restaurant as you will be happy you did!

Went to the restaurant last night and cannot even give it one star. The only thing worse than the food was the service which was shocking. To cap a very miserable evening they tried to over charge by sneaking a second bottle on wine on the bill. Strongly suggest you find somewhere else to eat.

I had an excellent meal. The food was terrific. The staff was friendly and professional. I would definitely go back. It is definitely an old school Italian restaurant.

This is an old school Italian establishment. I have eaten here in the past with a former client and today enjoyed a very nice meal with another client. This is a more formal Italian venue in the old school style those of us who grew up in NYC remember, its timeless. The service is smooth and polished. The food very, very good. Today we enjoyed a lovely grilled Tuna over Arugula, as well as a Braised Pork Shank over Risotto. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The wine list is solid and reasonably priced.

Awesome old school Italian near our Renwick hotel,,,,stuffed calamari appetizer was outstanding as was dinner and dessert.,.. piano music ambience and attentive service and well, priced value

Absolutely worth eating there. Loved the atmosphere topped with the serious well-dressed waiters, so proper, polite and helpful. The food was divine. And the pasta i ordered was gf and the sauce was delicious. All this chic offered at a reasonable price. Don't miss this jewel.

The food was fantastic. Excellent flavor and just right portions. The service was outstanding and very attentive. And then throw in the singing entertainment, WOW.

This is an old fashioned setting and the ceilings are low so dining hour is a bit noisy but the food is delicious and although it was restaurant week the meal was not an abbreviated version as with some other restaurants...Rossinii's seem to give full value. I had to start the appetizer Broccoli Rabe with susauge, but what came was a whole sausage link over a bed of broccoli, that to me was quite amazing, Then the entree was grilled salmon... The place was crowded at 6:30 pm and that could maybe account for the fact that a hotel to right next door and this is a convenient restaurant. However, if you want true Italian meal with full value this is a gem of a place on any day

Excellent service. Great wine. Beautiful atmosphere with a piano player. We had the bruschetta, the octopus (which can be chosen fried or grilled), the calamari, as well as very tasty veal and chicken meals. We enjoyed the bread basket with the basil flavored olive oil. Coming in to the big city, after a long car ride from Canada, it was the hearty meal we were hoping for.

My colleagues and I visited Rossini's Restaurant on a Monday night after a long day of meetings. What a gem! This place is classic, Old Italian, from start to finish. The ambiance is perfect - bright enough, but not too bright; the noise level allowed us to carry on a conversation; and the decor was straight out of late '90s Italy. We took the waiter's recommendations on some appetizers and dinners, and each was prepared just right. Calamari and grilled octopus for appetizers; chicken parm, snapper and other delicacies in a red sauce; sauteed lemon and garlic chicken; and a veal dish - all perfect. For dessert - cheesecake, cannolis, and a chocolate delight. Each tasty and prepared just right. Service was attentive but not over the top. It's our new go-to Italian in New York City, for sure!

A fantastic place to eat. Our server was spectacular. My calamari was tremendous and my girl friend loved her halibut. Great ambiance. Nice wine selection and desserts.

Ooooooops……how did this restaurant score so high?!? I guess the chef was out of town? Perhaps he was on the phone with someone? Maybe an urgent medical visit after a night on the town? Oh boy, what happened here? Good news though is that the service was excellent. But the food…..no, pesto does not need any sort of cream. Basil, pine nuts, parmezan, olive oil and some salt. Garlic of course too, but never cream. Pasta all’amatriciana or carbonara does not feature too many ingredients either. But here it tasted like warmed-up tomato-in-a-can and some pancetta. I hope we were just unlucky. I hope and wish that NYC knows what good Italian food tastes like and I hope that this was just terribly unfortunate, as it had nothing to do at all with anything resembling the wonders of Italy. Better luck next time!

This gem of a restaurant hidden in the Murray Hill neighborhood is incredible! From the white linens to them pulling out the chair for myself and my daughter this place is amazing. They offered a 1/2 size pasta for my daughter thankfully and they surprised her on her special night with dessert! We will definitely come her again when in the city!

This is our second trip here, as we came last year. We had a great time last year but this year was even better! The food, the ambiance, the service, the feel, everything was amazing. The wine pricing ($18 for a crappy glass of Pinot Grigio) was not good, but other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and will be returning next year:)!

We love the food and the staff at this restaurant. have been going there for over 20 years and never had a bad meal. we even had our wedding party here.

What a lovely evening we had at Rossini’s! I visited New York with my family from London for Christmas. This was within walking distance from our hotel, and what a lovely evening we had here! Food was great, staff were delightful, lovely atmosphere too.

We happened upon Rossini's for lunch and had such a pleasant time, we returned for dinner. It's a throwback to another era--an era of white tablecloths and truly professional service. The staff is friendly and helpful (our waitperson remembered us from lunch!) The food fresh and delicious. They've been in business for more than 40 years and I can see why.

Food was excellent, the wine on glass could be better, taking 18 dlrs per glass into concideration. The service was awful. All waiters dressed up in dinner jackets, but they were not there, really. They dis not listen, had no humor and were totally uninterested in their customers. I did not tip them and they started to accusing me for not doing it. Spend your money somewhere else.

My theory with Italian restaurants is always try to find something in the specials of the day as the chef knows what’s fresh and how to prepare it best. As usual it worked with Rossini’s. I had stuffed chicken breast and my partner the fish of the day, halibut. The chicken was superb and came with perfect gnocchi and my partner’s fish was just right. For dessert we shared the tiramisu and it was as perfect as it should have been. The place was pretty busy and we enjoyed good Kendall Jackson red so we were extremely happy with the whole experience - good food excellent service as we have come to expect from good Italian places.

Group of 5 found Rossini’s on Trip Advisor, we loved it. Classical Italian, classy setting, exquisite service and willing to do just about any variation you want. They truly wanted he meal to be special for us. Branzino fish of the day was excellent with squid, clams and delightful tomato sauce. Another had the same grilled with lemon and capers, also excellent. Another had the veal with pasta special described as a bit simple and not a wow dish but very good. Another split spaghetti alla carbonara which they really enjoyed. $25-$40 entrees all with a small side of cauliflower, roasted finger potato, and polenta. Those all struck us as odd sides and all were very plain whose flavors did not tie into the main course, but that is rather insignificant. Meal started with breads and also Bruschetta, nice touch. Great wines but which will really run up your bill. We will return.

We were lucky enough to stumble on this place when we were staying round the corner on E 37th Street. We really enjoyed it. We thought the service was great because the staff were charming and, unlike almost everywhere else we ate in Manhattan, we were never hurried. They seem to understand that it is often best to linger over a meal and enjoy the company you are with, the food you are eating and the wine you are drinking. Such a refreshing change! And the food was good, as was the wine. As indeed was the company, my wife! Best of all, throughout the evening we were entertained by a soprano and a tenor, both pretty competent, accompanied by a good pianist, singing the Italian opera songbook etc and doing requests. They sang O Mio Babbino Caro for me which was wonderful! A really unusual and enjoyable restaurant experience. Huge fun! Not especially cheap, but really good value.

My wife and I had eaten at Rossini's in 2018, enjoyed it then and wanted to try it again on this trip to NYC. We found the same great atmosphere as well as the same professional service. The food was excellent and perhaps even a bit better than our last visit. To start we split an order of the Gnocchi Bolognese and found the gnocchi to be light and airy and the bolognese to be tasty with the right amount of seasoning. We both had veal entrees and each was unique and well prepared. For dessert we split a order of cannoli and it was the right ending to a great meal. We recommend if you are looking for an old school restaurant with well prepared and presented food. My wife and I are so happy such places still exist !!

If you're looking for home cooked delicious Italian food this is the place to come. We visited here for dinner. The service was amazing, staff were so friendly (much friendlier than the average New Yorker!) And food was absolutely perfect. So delicious. Prices not too bad especially when compared to other restaurants near times square (about a 15 min walk) so definitely worth coming here. The restaurant itself is also decorated beautifully and we were even given bread and bruschetta before we had seen the menu! 100% recommend.

This was our first time to visit to Rossini. It’s located in the Murray Hill area. It exceeded our expectations by far. From start to finish, it was excellent. We started with drinks. My daughter declares they made the best Manhattan that she has ever had. We also ordered the Rossini hot appetizer plate for two which as awesome. The appetizer plate include shrimp in champagne sauce, stuffed clams and stuffed eggplant. Each were very good. My daughter ordered the tortellini and I ordered the veal chop with tri-colored salad. Both dishes were cooked to perfection. We had an early reservation at 5:45 pm which worked out great. By the time we left, the restaurant was full. I would suggest that you make reservation well in advance.

Food was excellent and staff were very attentive. The bruschetta amuse bouche was a lovely way to start and quite unexpected.

Our favorite Italian restaurant in NYC. We can’t go to New York without dining here. The food is excellent. The atmosphere is so historic Italian. The people are so very friendly and professional. And finally the piano player is great

Great table, great staff and good Italian food. I would go back. Opera music with piano. a very nice caprese salad. With fresh burrata.

Basic Northere Italian dishes as well special and off the menu orders make this a dining experience that satisfies all tastes. Fish can be prepared many away -- simply ask. Most seating is in arm chairs and tables are not close together permitting business conversations.

We were lucky enough to get a seat without a reservation on a Thursday evening and boy am I glad we did! The service and the atmosphere are absolutely old-school! From the formally dressed staff, to the side by side seating for two, to the wonderful music, to the simply amazing food; it was all old-school and class.

It's that old world red plush dining room experience. The food is above average, but just. I had the Saltimbocca - small amount of veal, a whole lot of spinach - and a caesar salad to begin with. The salad is the main reason I'm giving Rossini's 3 and not 4 stars. Honestly, I was amazed the waiter could put it on the table with a straight face. It was the tiniest, saddest looking caesar salad I've ever seen. Almost brought to mind those useless iceberg side salads from the 1970's. Seriously? And you CHARGE for this?

This is an excellent Italian restaurant (Italian-Italian, not Italian-American). All the food is prepared to perfection and the service is also outstanding. Good wine selection with affordable choices and nice ambiance. What else could you ask for?

Mediocre food. Carbonara was very “American” - too saucy. Swordfish overcooked. Octopus was good. Wine list mediocre.

If you’re looking for an old fashioned, white table cloth experience with excellent food and incredibly graceful and attentive staff, this is your place. Food is amazing and they don’t serve ridiculously large servings. Not small but not stupid big. Lovely experience.

the first place where I have actually tasted an real tomato sauce, wonderful! the cook needs a medal, and the waiters were also pretty nice and efficient. service was very quick, I honestly loved the food in this place! The ambiance is very much 'godfather' like, pretty old and crying out for modernisation. Could easily Imagine Michael Corleone walking out the toilets!

I would like to give the rating of 4.5 but cant figure out how. We visited this restaurant on the recommendation of the Marriott. The food was very good - husband had lasagne bolognese special and I had linguine con vongole. The service, however, was stellar! We also had an appetizer special, which ended up costing almost as much as one of the meals. Tiramisu was scrumptious, cheesecake a bit plain (this may be NY style). A bit pricy, but again, it may just be NY. I would recommend - just be prepared.

With so many good Italian restaurants in the neighborhood, the survival of this one is a mystery. The restaurant claims to serve northern Italian cuisine, but it was really midwest American Italian cuisine. The sauces tasted like those available in cans from the supermarket. The saltimbocca was served without sage and the prosciutto was unrecognizable. We will not return. (The fact that FOX news was broadcast into the restaurant did not enter into this review).

If you want great Italian food and the most attentive service possible, this is a great choice. We had the veal chop and the linguini marinara and loved both dishes. Try the imported plump New Zealand mussels. Simply wonderful. But most of all we will remember the service, which was exceptional. Great night in authentic Italian surroundings.

I went to dinner with a group of about 40. Based on the menu and prices online, I expected to be just an average restaurant - but I was pleasantly surprised. It was great. The servers were appropriately attentive. The food was great - flavorful, generous portions. And, there was live piano music. I look forward to returning.

What better way to try out an authentic Italian restaurant than one in New York City. We sourced Rossini’s from the internet and it was within reasonable walking distance of our hotel. The restaurant wasn’t too busy when we arrived, and we were brought to a table at the front of the establishment. There is also a room at the back, but we got the feeling this was for ‘special’ or ‘well-heeled’ regulars. We were seated in a corner under a large wall-mounted television which was playing extremely loudly, so we asked for it to be turned off. It was competing with the nice background music, and there was no need to have it on. In fact, having a television in a restaurant is entirely unsuitable for obvious reasons! The menu here is quite good, but our waiter was over-enthusiastic, rattled off the menu at a rate of knots and overdid the attentive bit for the evening. There really is nothing worse than having somebody hover around your table, ready to whip away your plate when you sit back a bit or put your cutlery down, and sweeping away every little crumb that fell on the table cloth. We were not relaxed, even though our food was delicious. It was probably one of the most uncomfortable meals we have had anywhere. We felt rushed and under pressure. Being from Ireland, where tipping doesn’t happen, we had been told that 10% was the rough tipping guide in the US, so that’s what we added to the bill. The waiter raced back down the restaurant and was quite aggressive to my partner. Apparently, there were three tipping ‘levels’ on the bill, I think it was 15%, 18% and 23%. I stand corrected on that if I am wrong, but I just cannot remember. We had never seen a bill like that before. The manner in which he addressed us was most unpleasant and extremely embarrassing. He took away the Visa card and never asked for a PIN number, which did worry us. We would never allow anyone to take our card away in Ireland, the practice is your server returns to your table with a hand-held credit card machine. Needless to say this was not a nice experience, and it was handled extremely badly by our waiter. There are ways of dealing with issues and raising your voice to customers is not one of them. He had no manners and we wouldn’t visit Rossinis again. It’s a shame really as this is a lovely restaurant.

The food was excellent and the wait staff was superb. My wife and I took our son, daughter in law and two young grandchildren. We have been to the restaurant many times and it has been consistently excellent.

Excellent atmosphere! The wait staff was impeccable, and quick without being overbearing. True professionals and the food was so good! I can't wait to go back!

Enjoyed a truly delicious meal in mid-town before heading to the theatre. This old-style Italian restaurant was warm, traditional and exacting in it’s service. If you prefer an experience where the focus is on attention to service and delicious food over the latest trendy spot you may want to experience Rossini’s. This felt like a family favourite where the staff get to know you and take pride in the opportunity to make your experience special. Upon learning we were there for a birthday dinner, we were seated at the best table and later surprised with a Happy Birthday Dessert with singing by the wait staff in full voice. Ambience was set by an amazing pianist. Could have easily sat and listened for hours. We will be back to Rossini’s next time we are in New York. It’s nice to feel like you are being welcomed by old friends who understand the importance of simple, delicious food served with pride.

For our last night of our 10 days in New York we picked this place for dinner. This was yet another great dining experience in New York. Service was strong, food was great and again pleasing that our children (11 and 9) could enjoy the food. It is so good when the whole family can enjoy a dining experience together. Highly recommended.

This is my favorite Italian restaurant. On my last visit with friends and family our waiter charmed us all. We were never told no, he just smiled and made us welcome. He split entrees, salads and the checks for us. He must have sensed what an occasion this was for us and did what he could to ensure we had a good time. The food is so good.

I didn’t know this was a restaurant with singers. Opera type couple singing arias and popular songs ) think Frank Sinatra) in operatic voices. With piano player. Lots of big groups making requests and cheering them on. Good was fine, nothing special. Hard to have a conversation

I love Italian food. Everywhere I go it is my first choice. So staying in New York off Times Square, googled Italian resteraunts near me. Rossini's came up well reviewed. Rainy night no Uber Eats drivers available, so did an Uber pick up order of Spaghetti Carbora. Absolutely horrible. Sauce was like water - see photo. Have never had a worse Italian meal. Simply atrocious.

This place felt right out of "The Godfather". Fantastic service, great food.....and the best dining experience we had in NY!

This is an old school Italian. Servers in suits were very attentive, friendly and professional. Our entrees were all excellent. I felt it was a bit dark there, with dated decor. I did feel like we were eating in a restaurant the top mob bosses would enjoy. From beginning to end we were made to feel welcomed. Food service was prompt, and well prepared. Excellent wine list.

After a hectic morning pounding the pavement of the city and sitting stalled in traffic, getting to Rossini's for lunch was like stepping into another world. The glasses for the sparkling water were ice cold. The service was attentive. The cool, quiet interior was a haven from the outside bustle. The food was delicious -- a great, slightly spicy gazpacho, and gnocchi bolognese. We felt completely restored.

Seamless service, great atmosphere and superior Italian food. Everyone we have sent there has loved it. Mostly northern Italian which we love. The live music adds to the beautiful decor and ambiance.

This place is a lovely experience. The wait service is fantastic, polite and helpful. The food was excellent. I had the Veal Rossini and is was delicious and in a very large serving. We were in a bit of a hurry as we had theatre tickets, and the staff was very prompt and helpful in getting us out quickly. Frankly, we hated to leave and we'll be back.

Old school charm with quality food. I consider myself a foodie. I had chicken parm with fettuccine as a side. Although with the side substitution my meal was close to $60.00 it was absolutely delicious. I don’t mind paying when the quality is there. We ordered Cesar salad which was just okay. It was on the fishy side which I do like anchovies in the dressing but it was over powering. We will come back again.

We had a fantastic New Years Eve Meal here. We were made to feel very welcome, including our 1 year old daughter. The food was superb as was the wine. Highly recommend a visit!

We have been in NY for a week and friends were flying in from vacation in Vancouver. Based on the recommendation from our Hotel we booked this Italian. Very much old school with two opera style singers belting out the tunes. Food and service were both excellent. The music / singing didn’t allow for easy conversation which was a minus point but overall great evening with great friends.

Friends and I went forvrestaurant week. Extensive menu. Most of us had the stuffed clams for a starter. I thought they were just ok. Would have like them broiled to finish off dish. We also had the veal medallions with mushrooms which was very good. Will definitely return.

Tried Rossini's because of the write ups and because it was walking distance from The Shelburne where we were staying. The staff was welcoming and eager to make your evening. The room was decorated for Christmas and very inviting. The first thing I noticed was the large amount of staff and how they all worked together to give you a great service experience. The food was outstanding, I had the veal with mushroom sauce and the other three had the special with veal and chicken. My brother had a starter of pasta in brown sauce and it was fabulous. A night out is the whole experience and the people at Rossini's know how to make it fabulous. I will go there again the next time I am in New York.

Rossini's has a lot of tables that are very 'business conversation' friendly. Ask for one on the bottom level as it's a bit more quiet. Also, the specials are almost always the way to go as they are usually delicious. A 'can't go wrong' restaurant overall.

I was fortunate to have lived a mere block and a half away from this amazing restaurant. From the first time it was amore! The food is savory a true event but it is the people who make this the place I will return to each time I am back in NYC. Rossini’s is a treasure a must experience it for yourself but better with friends.

The food is very good, the waitress also with very good attitude. The thing we didn’t like is that a glass of wine (regular rose) and a rum with coke were quite expensive.

Great food and fabulous service. Came here for lunch with my co-workers and I cannot stay enough great things about this place, especially the service that is top notch. We shared the Antipasti dish: Vongole al Forno that is baked clams. The clams were fresh and delicious. Then I ordered the Gnocchi Bolognesse and I asked our waiter to substitute the Gnocchi for Linguini with no problem. They were very accommodating on my request to change the stye of pasta that was fresh and delicious. I would definitely come back here for lunch or dinner.

Feel compelled to review Rossini’s again. We eat there each time we visit New York. It is authentic Italian without being dated. The avocado salad with scallops and shrimp is a must. Service was spot on. Wine is great whether by the glass or bottle. Love the atmosphere. We eat out a lot out of town and when we are home and this is our Italian food standard to judge all else Italian restaurants. Get the Dover sole when they have it available. You will not be disappointed.

Seated straight away with no reservation, shown a wine list VERY expensive, food was good and service was ok till it came time for the tip. As the waiter didn't feel our tip was enough he returned with the bill and asked us to pay more. Spoiled the whole evening and would never recommend it

The manager at the hotel recommended us for my daughter’s birthday celebration, very nice waiter and excellent food! The manager told them about my daughter’s birthday, she got a special dessert! We will definitely come back!

Very expensive. Nice staff. But I asked for vegetables and got three slices of zucchini! Business meeting so I didn’t make a fuss. But it was frustrating!!

We loved this restaurant. The service was amazing and the food was the best I have had. Real classic Italian restaurant which had such a nice feel to it.

Rossini's is celebrating its 40 years. We have been going there for just 3 but each visit has been a very pleasant experience, warranting five stars. This time we had pasta and veal before a show. The food was very good and the service attentive and fast. Here's to the next 40 years.

Was in the City to visit our son and celebrate his birthday. After taking in the Tolkien TLOTR exhibit at the Morgan Library, we needed a good place to enjoy dinner. What an unexpected pleasure! Ambiance galore!! Wait staff- totally professional and in a good way. None of that haute NY disdain, they made us feel welcome the moment we entered. And we weren’t dressed up. The food was terrific. Northern Italian prepared right. Red snapper - perfect. Veal for my wife was just right. Our son enjoyed the manicotti and his girlfriend the spaghetti. Salads and soups to start were as they should be, plentiful and hot. Then for dessert, after hearing it was our son’s birthday they brought out his dessert with candle and sang a rousing version of Happy Birthday! Unexpected delight. It capped off a perfect day and evening. I highly recommend this restaurant for its food and flair. Not the least expensive place you could pick, but for my family that night, it was worth every penny!! And don’t forget to tip the pianist and singers, they were awesome!

Fantastic Northern Italian restaurant in midtown Manhattan. Terrific food, very nice ambiance and impeccable service. Try the Tortellini A La Rossini, it's my go to appetizer every time I go to this place. The veal dishes and pasta dishes are all great as well! It's a bit pricey, but it is NYC!

Had dinner with 6 of my long time (50 years) friends. We are all from the New York Metropolitan area, all Italian decent, all love and appreciate good food. Rossini’s has it all. Very unassuming from the outside but a world of flavors inside, the opera singing is an experience and one that we all enjoyed. We loved all the different entrees as they were prepared to our specs and were full of flavor. I am a dessert freak and as such always try something. Being somewhat of a cook I appreciate good desserts, the Ricotta pie was not one of them. I use an old recipe from my grandmother and therefore am somewhat biased, but others agreed. Anything else you can’t go wrong.

Dinner at Rossini's in the Murray Hill neighborhood of Manhattan likely has not changed in many years. The decor is elegant, the waiters wear tuxedos and the menu features classic Italian cuisine. The food was very good and served with style. It was our first visit but we could see other tables being greeted by the host as regular returnees. Live piano music accompanied our meal. Prices were expensive but not outrageous. Rossini's is a good place for special occasions.

Love, Love, Love this place. From the cozy bar to the dining room, the service, food, and ambiance are wonderful! My favorite restaurant in NYC.

First time at this restaurant and needed quiet, comfortable spot for biz dinner. Good wine list. The restaurant was comfortable but food was just average which in NYC is very disappointing. Had Caesar and Tuna steak special and best to describe it was “plain Jane” and forgettable taste. Service was good except for the extended wait for the bill. I don’t think I’ll revisit.

Nice atmosphere. Great food and good service. They tried to sit us next to eachother which was a bit awkward so we requested a different table. They accommodated us.

This was disappointing as from the outset you thinks its a nice quaint northern Italian spot between Park and Lex. Sadly its overpriced, under portioned and lacking the small charm character it exudes. The bar/bartender are worth the stop in but $31 for bolognese thats a child’s portion is insulting.

A lovely restaurant, great bar to have a relaxing drink at before eating. Excellent service, and quality of food is fantastic, i had a really lovely steak, second to none! Will defo visit again when back in NYC!

My new lady friend and my self decided to try the food here because of the great reviews . The food was delicious and the royal treatment u receive as soon as u walk through the door , makes u feel like like a celebrity. Also the ambiance is really nice for a classy restaurant. We loved it and will tell our coworkers n friends

This restaurant was great, listening to music and eating good italian Food worth a visit the good wine was great

Fabolous food, veal saltimboca was outstanding! Pasta with garlic and olive oil was outstanding. Mahai Mahai, steak and veal outstanding. Opera duet was enjoyable and service was impeccable . Highly recommend the restaurant.

I would highly recommend this restaurant. The service was first class and the meal was delicious x we chanced upon it and went in with no reservation x

Several weeks ago, while visiting with family in New York City, my nephew suggested we have dinner at Rossini's on East 38th Street. I invited he and his wife to join my sister, my wife and me for what proved to be a wonderful experience. Upon arrival, we were treated to some lovely piano music and seated promptly. We noticed that all the waiters were attired in tuxedos! And as we began our dinner, an elderly couple treated the guests by singing several abbreviated well known opera arias. My wife ordered the Gnocchi Bolognese, and I ordered the best Vitello alla Francese I've ever eaten. It was very tender, and served with polenta, some mixed veggies and a potato croquette. The selection of wines, both by the glass and by the bottle and half bottle, was wonderful.

I really enjoyed the food here but the service is definitely lacking. We ordered the fresh mozzarella appetizer and it was delicious. I got the gnocchi bolognese and it was amazing. My husband and son got the chicken and it was so tender. Now to the service. We were sat down with menus and left alone for a while. When the waiter finally showed back up and asked if we wanted any appetizers we told him yes but we also wanted a wine list. We got the appetizer and drinks together. Then we had to ask for bread for the table (every table seemed to have some but us). We got our meal and my son wanted dessert. We had to ask for that as well. It just seemed like everything had to be asked for and not offered.

We spent 4 nights in NYC and visited 4 Italian restaurants. This was by far our favorite spot. The food was incredible and the service was very professional. Definitely worth a visit!

I first visited Rossini's with my wife on a long-weekend trip to New York in February 2024 and had an excellent experience. I am happy to report that, on our recent return visit, nothing had changed and the experience was, once again, excellent. Started with an impeccably prepared appetizer of grilled octopus that was followed by a halibut special (mine) and Spezzato Pollo (my wife). This is fine Italian cuisine, scratch cooking, with an elegant and quiet atmosphere complemented by a pianist playing Broadway show tunes and old standards. A wonderful, romantic spot that I highly recommend. My only regret is that I did not get the name of our excellent server (and it was not on the receipt) so that I could give him his appropriate due for his excellent service.

We've been to Rossini's numerous times. Tonight, the food was STUPENDOUS. I had the veal parm, my wife had the chicken scapariello. The meal was cooked perfectly. Quiet piano music being played... It was great!

Excellent. We loved this restaurant. Carbonara was absolutely delicious. Excellent service. Very polite waiters. Lovely atmosphere. Had a very lovely evening - thank you.

It was pouring with rain outside, but once inside the welcome was warm and friendly. I chose the special of the day, Lobster Tail Linguine, it was delicious. My wife chose the Sea Bass, again cooked to perfection.

I had a pricey seafood medley that was totally overcooked. The others with me had pasta that was also overcooked and mushy. Very noisy. Service was unimpressive. Maybe if you're a "regular" you get better service and quality of food?? Sorry, but I wouldn't recommend.

First time there for my wife and I, and it was great. We were pleasantly surprised that they had a piano player. The soup and avocado salad were great appetizers. For entrees my wife had their version of the chicken parm and I had the black fettuccine with seafood special- awesome!

Excellent spaghetti carbonara. Ordered chicken francaise not on the menu though veal francaise was and waiter didn’t bat an eye. Old world charm though decor is a bit worn. Piano player is a surprising plus. Much bigger inside than the street front would indicate. Large parties welcome. Will go back again.

We stumbled upon Rossini's quite by accident during a recent trip to NYC. We have our favorite restaurants and this one has now joined the favorite's list. Ate there twice during our visit and both times service was excellent and the food was amazing! My husband claims that the sauce was the best he's ever had. Great experience.

We chose to dine at Rossini’s on Saturday night because that is when they have the piano and opera singers. We were not disappointed, they were great. The food is outstanding. I had the shrimp cocktail appetizer and my wife had the baked clams, both were very good. My entree was the red snapper and my wife had the veal Romano. They were excellent. Our food came out fast but we were not rushed. I highly recommend this restaurant. If you can, go on a Saturday for the singers. It was a great evening.

The restaurant was near where we were staying had plenty of seating and a lot of charm. Service was great, a piano player was nice added touch. Now for the food, everything was great, I had one of the veal dishes cooked perfectly, the sauce mushrooms and wine complimented perfectly. My partner had the asparagus risotto likewise great creamy wonderful nutty flavour. While we were both full we were tempted by dessert which was equally good - cannoli and frozen lime gelati both very tasty too.

Went here recently for a business dinner. It attracts a large crowd and the others in my party liked their meals so I want to be fair about that. We decided on an Italian restaurant as being a vegetarian, Italian restaurants often have many options. Every single dish on the menu had some type of meat or fish. I'm thinking no big deal, I'm sure they make a lot of their entrees fresh onsite and if I ask for a pasta dish without the shrimp that it wouldn't be a problem. Wrong. It's a problem for them. When I asked the waiter if I could order a dish without the seafood or meat to accompany it, I was told no. It actually became embarrassing for me as the waiter was trying to make me feel weird. His final response was that I could get spaghetti with marinara or a salad....with an attitude. Really? I come all this way to the restaurant claiming to serve the finest in fresh cuisine and I have to get boring spaghetti and red sauce. Either one or two things are going on here. Either they are just like many other chain and fast food restaurants where the meals are pre-made, pre-cooked, packaged and they have little ability to adjust the dish, or they simply don't like vegetarians. Either way I won't be back. This is first Italian restaurant I have ever had this type of experience with. The restaurant was very very loud also.

Family owned old school restaurant with excellent fare, first class service and a beautiful and spacious dining room.

After a visit a month ago for lunch, we tried it for dinner. The food was excellent with tasty veal and tender chicken. If you do not find the exact combination on the menu, ask your helpful waiter and the cook will prepare your own special, this time veal milanese gor my wife. Perhaps one word of caution: come here to dine with friends as the light is too dark for a solo dinner with a book.

Rossini's felt like stepping back in time. By that, I mean a well established restaurant with super attentive waiters in tuxedos and a piano player in the background. The food was very good and we both ordered off the list of specials for the evening. The bruschetta served before our entrees was fresh and tasty. After dinner, the waiter brought desserts on a tray and we selected the chocolate mousse, which was amazing.

there were ten of us for drinks and dinner. they accommodated us beyond expectations. we had a dedicated waiter and two servers, open menu and lots of liquor. everyone raved about the food, Veal saltenbucco, osso buco, veal scaloppini were the favorites.

This is the way fine dining used to be with an impressive maitre de', an attentive staff and a lovely decor. We were there for a birthday so we had a group of twelve. We were promptly and politely greeted and taken to our table and promptly watered. To seat twelve they had joined three tables together in a dog bone shape which work well with the tablecloth not looking like three tables. When the remainder of the party arrived we were asked about drinks and the came out in the correct timing. We chatted for awhile and after a reasonable period we received the menus and the well frocked waiter told us of the specials. Assorted appetizers were ordered including an octopus dish and an fried eggplant with sauce. I enjoyed a Caesar salad. My dinner was a wonderful veal saltimbocca. Others had veal scallopini, calamari in red sauce and other chicken and pasta dinners. Everybody enjoyed the food and staff very much. Go and have a culinary delight before they are all replaced by chains.

Couldn't be a better night out w/ friends. Food was incredible, service gracious, bill reasonable, and parking right in front of restaurant (after 7). Go w/ the specials they offer. Always have and never not have enjoyed more tasty Northern Italian dishes!

When you first walk in you think it’s a small pub. Once through the hallway you are met with a lovely, lovely restaurant. Service is very efficient. Southern Italian cuisine. Good bread. Very large selection of veal dishes. Clams Casino was very good. Bread wonderful. Veal wonderful. Definitely would go back.

We went here to eat an early dinner on this past Friday. The service was so wonderful..and the food superb!!! we had the zuppa de mussels. carbonara linguini & Veal Saltimbocca...the best we have Enjoyed since our time in Italy!!! Just GO and see for yourselves!!!

We walked in to charming piano music and a warm atmosphere. The soup was lovely. The pasta fresh and flavorful and the service kind and efficient. We had a wonderful experience. Great for kids and adults.

this was recommended by our driver and he was spot on. We were treated graciously, had an excellent wine, food was so good. Great way to end out trip to NYC.

We found this restaurant a year ago by accident. We revisited this March, on a scale of 1-10 Rossini’s is a 12. Great food, the veal is to die for, great service, wonderful decor. I highly recommend for a great dinning experience.

Walked in and it felt a bit dark and warn out. Had a nice little bar and a few tables up front but heading towards the back it became a bit more old classic Italian spot worth trying. Decor was only drawback of entire night. The service was very good but the food was excellent. I started w melon and procuitto and then the special halibut which was incredible. Had a simple preparation of wine oils and butter. It was fantastic. Had a small side of spaghetti bolognese to try the pasta and sauce which was perfect. Piano player was a nice touch. Will be back.

An old type Italian restaurant straight out of the movies. We were recommended by our nearby hotel and were totally disappointed all round. The wait staff were all dressed in tuxedos but seemed very unfriendly. We were dropped a menu to order from which we did. No attention given and no offering of daily specials as were other diners. A very over priced wine list was produced then removed. No offer of drinks from the bar as were other diners. Bread basket was dumped on the table, others received olive oil, we did not. The food: entrees came out but something was not right so back they went and reappeared a few minutes later. Mains appeared before entree was finished. Food was "nice" but not anything special. Dessert was offered but only what the waiter could recall being in the kitchen. Surprisingly, or not, other diners received much nicer desserts than we were offered. Very disappointed all round, we were not "regulars" and feel we received the tourist service or non service and they have the cheek to request a 25% tip which makes for a very expensive meal. They are overpriced, staff seem to be rushing everywhere and not looking after their diners. We did not have the same waiter twice everything was dumped on the table and off they ran. Save your $$$ and go elsewhere there are plenty of other little restaurants around the area who appreciated our custom. We would not recommend and don't agree with other 5 star reviews.

The secret of the Italian cousin is light meals with extremely fresh ingredients. The cuisine at Rossini use good ingredients but unfortunately is too heavy so not real Italian but Italian/American.

With NY prices high, we ate a main course (entree) and dessert each, no alcohol, it was breathtakingly expensive for a Veal Pizzacata, a Chicken & Mozzarella, and two $18AUD slices of soggy bottom pie. This is a fine dining restaurant, literally 70 metres from our hotel. It is raining heavily, so we choose proximity over price. We knew this would be pricey, but the lack of fine dining items on the menu, was surprising. With the bread basket came two pieces of Bruschetta, this was a nice touch. The meats were tender, but the desserts were awful.

We managed to get a table without a reservation on a Friday night. Thank you to the man who welcomed us and ensured we got a table. The waiter was great and attentive at all times. It took a while to get our bread with olive oil and vinegar. The meals were good. My wife’s seafood dish was too watery and tasted fishy. Yes it’s a seafood dish, but typically you don’t get that fishy taste. The rest of the meals were good. The live music was really nice. However, the people next to us were quite loud and using vulgarity constantly but no one spoke to them about it. This made it at times hard to enjoy the music and the meal. I’m sure the overall ambience would have been great if someone told them to lower their voice volume. Overall it was a good experience.

Great food, wonderful staff. My NY Steak that was the best I've ever tasted anywhere. Asked owner what was the secret and he answered meat aged 30 days and shortest tenured cook in kitchen been there 18 years. Pastas all hand-made and superb and they even have black ink Fettucini. On Saturday nights opera singers stroll through the tables singing arias. Family owned for decades.

Ive visited Rossini many times with my colleagues and clients and everytime the group has enjoyed their meals. Their Linguine Pesto and sauted scallops are my personal favourites, however the Risottos and Ravioli ordered was liked by my friends too. The excellent selection of wine and pairing suggestions by the server is another reason why we visit here often.

Found this gem right around the corner from our hotel. Absolutely fabulous meal. Spaghetti Carbonora and linguini Alfredo were great. Loved the baked clams app.

outstanding - old world - old money - its not a $180 veal chop for one at Carbone - its legit good - the people sitting near u in Rossini aren't viral or insta famous - they just famous low key - know great legit food - this place is outstanding - not trying to be anything its not - a real Find -

We only get to NYC once every four to five years, but we always include a dinner at Rossini's. Today was exceptional as always. Great service, great menu, great wine list. You made to feel like part of the family. We both ordered veal specialties and they both were super. Will continue to eat here when we visit NYC.

Highlight of our trip to NYC was our first time food experience at SCALINATELLA Ristorante. Looking for good Italian food, we asked several people and were directed to this restaurant. Definitely NOT disappointed! Great oyster & shrimp cocktails, Chilean Sea Bass was “melt-in-your-mouth delicious. My niece had fresh pasta with truffles that we each sampled and marveled about! Every dish was delicious, including creme brûlée, which we “forced” ourselves to share after our big meal. The service was unbelievable, had at least four waiters serving our table of three. They were all great fun, carried on conversations and made us feel very special! A little pricey, but no regrets. “You get what you pay for” (if you’re lucky) and we certainly plan to return here on our next trip to NYC.....

Comfortable dinner on a Thursday night in the city- I had a special - pork shank with a risotto, a caesar salad, and a wonderful tiramisu. Service was very present without being overbearing, which I appreciate. I'll definitely come back. Noise level was a little high, and they are using the space for as many tables as they can resonably fit.

We had a very simple dinner. Rigatoni with sausage and broccoli di rape, a seafood salad, and nice piece of fish alla Livornese. The restaurant is a good choice for Italian food done right.

Our 34th anniversary, so we wanted a memorable evening. Rossini's turned out to be the perfect combination of romance and sitting in your Italian families kitchen. Don't get me wrong, it was top notch service complete with formal servers that were attentive but not overbearing, live piano music and personalized attention from staff in a beautiful dining area. But it still had a relaxed feel about it because people were casual in their conversation and you could feel that folks (even families with children) were happy to be there. Food was reasonably priced, well portioned and very well prepared from fresh pasta to saltimbocca. Appropriate wine list. Nice touch at the end when our server brought us an anniversary dessert and two of them serenaded us with a happy anniversary song. We look forward to returning.

This place is throwback restaurant to the days of Sinatra. The staff is dressed immaculately and their service is top notch. The food is amazing. I went with a spaghetti carbonara that was the best I ever had. A simple dish, cooked perfectly. This was a last minute find but a gem that I would highly recommend, just a short walk from Grand Central Station

Simply put, one of the best meals I have had in years. We were walking down the street, my wife, my son, my daughter-in-law and their two very young children. We were meandering after just been turned away by a full-up restaurant and my son found this one on the map in his phone. We stepped in and I liked it immediately. It had an old-fashioned feel. My son said it looked like a place that could be in a Godfather movie. It was quiet, like a fine restaurant should be. I wasn’t certain that the food would be great, but I felt it probably would not be bad. In fact, I felt confident enough to order the Veal alla Francese over a very appealing chicken dish, which coincidentally my son ordered. I needed confidence as most of the few times I have ordered the veal it was bad to mediocre, with an occasional above average. When I was much younger, veal was a much more reliable outcome, a good one. My instincts served me well. The veal was superlative, well prepared, delicious meal and quite frankly the best veal meal I have had in maybe forty years. My wife ordered Linguine al Pesto and it was very good. My son ordered the Pollo Scarpariello and also found it very good, as was the Spaghetti Marinara enjoyed by his wife and their three year old son. He topped his meal with a nice red wine. He gave me a sip and I thought it was very good. The bread also was fresh and tasty. And wonders of wonders they brought butter, not the chic olive oil. It shows how old-fashioned they were. I loved it. They promptly seated us and took our order and the meal came shortly thereafter. A perfect restaurant experience. The entire staff even adored my son’s kids. What else could you want? I knew it would be good when I saw all the pictures of folks who had dined there, including Rudy Guiliani, who when I looked closely at the photo, was in handcuffs. Just kidding.

Rossini's is a classic midtown Northern Italian place. Good food lovely service and a fine wine list. I ate the Minestrone soup and one of their signature dishes Veal Rossini. Great veal, mushrooms, onions, white wine and a superb veal stock. Done perfectly, fork cutable, and a light but wonderful sauce. Add to that an extensive wine list and I was avery happy diner.

My wife and I went there for Saturday night dinner on a recommendation from a regular. From that and the online reviews we had high expectations. Unfortunately, these turned into disappointment. The food was good, though not outstanding, but just good is not enough for an upscale restaurant. Where is they really failed was on service. The waiter showed up, gave us food menus, then took our order. I don't know if they have a wine list. None was was offered, nor did the waiter ask if we wanted anything other than water, not even a soft drink. The two tables on either side of us also had only water on them. Never saw this before in any nice Italian restaurant. Maybe they weren't licensed? After our appetizers arrived, I asked the waiter if they had wine and he casually said yes, would we like some. Nonchalant and not the least concerned. Didn't tell the manager about the slip up, nothing. At least make a bit of a fuss... Basically, the attitude was they didn't care. We passed on wine at that point. The rest of the meal was OK, but as I said, average, both in food and service. I would maybe give them a 3 out of 5 but dropped it to a 2 for their disinterest. Go someplace else for your meal, where they care.

My husband took me to Rossini’s before the theater this past December. I ordered tortellini with Bolognese sauce, a CLASSIC northern Italian meat sauce. The sauce was thin, watery, tasteless. I was very disappointed

Old school charm and traditional decor, a wide selection of classic dishes, and a decent wine list. Good service complements the food so can recommend this for a dependable meal. Does what is says on the tin.

This is a lovely restaurant. My meal was very good and the service was excellent. An enjoyable experience. I had the breaded aubergine slices stuffed with ricotta and tomato, and then mushroom risotto. Both were delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Came here as a family of 5 - 3 adults and 2 children. As soon as we arrived the owner (?) greeted us amazingly and took us to our table. Very professional, very welcoming and ensured the kids were well catered for and prepared a dinner they enjoyed while we chose ours. We had pasta for main and dessert too, chocolate mousse was very good and kids loved the fresh strawberries and ice-cream. Wine choice was very good and all the waiters were friendly. Pianist was great and let the children sit by him and watch. Would highly recommend.

Never disappointed.our go to restaurant every time we are in nyc because we know we won’t be disappointed. Veal Francese delicious. Warm spinach salad good. Fettuccine Alfredo exceptional and authentic. Great, professional service. Love the atmosphere. Bar area more casual and imagine The Godfather sitting there back in the day. Main dining room elegant but not too fussy. Never had a bad meal there.

This certainly deserves to be in the top 5% of restaurants in New York. Excellent ambience and service! And the food….top notch. My scallops and my love’s chicken were absolutely perfect. Costs more than McDonald’s but a lot less than many more pretentious places that serve just so so food. Enjoy!

My family and I came here for dinner while visiting NYC. The last time we were here was in 5 yrs ago. They changed the place but I think the food was still great. My family and I had a wonderful dinner, and our server was very attentive. We enjoyed our meals.
Disappointed
2 balls just for the attentive service and the very nice location, three for the food and the quality-price ratio. I'm not sorry but I'm willing to pay even €200 for a steak... as long as it's good
