For New York City you would think this kind of place would not exist . We are sure it won't be there for long. Very rude workers, dirty and old fashioned place falling apart. Food was expensive and cold. we ordered a steak which was cold on a cold plate . we asked to return it and it was the same steak that came back just heated and like rubber. Cocktails were poor quality. Really bad , cheap and shabby place. At least we found the place next door which is fantastic.

We needed a late dinner and this restaurant was perfect. Excellent service, great cocktails and wonderful ambiance. Would definitely recommend.

Initial greeting wasn't bad, but the brunette waitress (Gabriella) obviously had a bad day... but why did she have to pay it with us? Bad manners, little to no attention, long waiting times... except when tipping time came. Apart from that, the food wasn't great value for the money. So-so $18 burger and average Reuben Sandwich. The iced tea was the worst I've had in a long time. There are *far better* options at less than 1block distance from this place. Don't waste your time+money here.

What can we say, visited for weekday breakfast and also weekend brunch, excellence across the board! Food is great, complimentary muffins V nice, Mimosas also fantastic. Service is without fault and the ambience is great. Well worth a,stop at anytime in hectic NYC. Menu is extensive and already seen some passing food for other tables that I will get to! We,will be back.

Visited as it was near our hotel. 1st visit was pretty good. Food was reasonably priced and service was good. 2nd visit however was not so good :-(. Sent back burgers twice...I caught the woman serving pull a face as well :-(. However...the guy serving the water was great and was always naturally smiling!! Perhaps we were unlucky?!?

We discovered this diner a short walk from our hotel and tried the breakfast menu. The food is good and wholesome and reasonably priced. The restaurant is clean and tidy, the staff are polite and attentive, offering unlimited coffee and iced water. We tried both the breakfast specials plus the omelettes and Eggs Benedict (pronounced delicious by my other half). I was fascinated by the dark blue organic tortilla served with a Mexican dish I ordered. All in all, a reasonably priced establishment (breakfast around $13 a head) with a relaxed atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

Had breakfast here. Price was decent - included coffee and juice. Portion size was a bit on the smaller size. Taste was good - they just need to give ya a bit more.

Great food, attentive staff, huge portions, had a Caeser salad and steak quesadilla both were very large portion, had the lunchtime special menu which came with chicken noodle soup which was delicious, good value for money for nyc

I came here with my father and if course I had to try the route 66 burger and it was cooked to perfection! Best burger I've had here by far! And the margarita had a good amount of alcohol, not watered down like a lot of places in the city.

On our way walking to Central Park we came across this café. The menu board outside was good and tempted us inside. We were not disappointed at all with excellent service , food and price. We felt very comfortable being here and were welcomed and looked after the entire time. Have no hesitation in recommending the Route 66 Café.

While making our way to the Intrepid museum my wife and I happened to be looking at a menu outside a cafe/ bar when a local lady walking her dogs told us if want a nice breakfast try Route 66 . I thank her for this as was a very pleasant experience. Prompt and friendly service, very tasty food and ample potions. Plus a comfortable atmosphere with great decor. Off the beaten track of the main tourist spots but if you find yourself near and want a bite to eat throughly recommend.

Randomly picked this restaurant and ordered different burgers. One was the mother road burger. Awesome food!!! Nice staff!! Prices are fair. This is a must do for people who love burgers.

Five of us had a great meal here. The burgers are excellent and the service was brilliant. Really good value and a place you are made to feel well looked after and welcomed. Do stop here if you are in the area.

First time ever eating at Route 66 and it was an enjoyable experience. It wasn't crowded on a Saturday night around 7pm. Staff was friendly, service was quick, food choice was full of plentiful options and the food we chose was delicious and prepared as ordered. Drinks were refilled in a timely manner and we weren't rushed. I recommend this place if you're looking for a decent meal with an average price. For my husband and I, the bill was about 37 bucks.

This is located near the wall street area. The street is not for cars, so there are tents and tables for all the restaurants in the road. Makes this area really neat. Route 66 was not that busy and we were seated quickly. For a family of four, we split two pulled pork sandwiches and two orders of mac n cheese. It was just right for everyone. The meal and service was very good.

Arrived in NYC mid-afternoon and looked for a quick lunch in Hell's Kitchen area. A friend had recommended Route 66. A very good choice. Quiet, very casual ambiance at 2pm but still active. Pleasantly greeted and seated immediately. Excellent menu choices. Especially enjoyed the Cuban panini with a cold Brooklyn lager. Service was excellent and the pricing was most reasonable. Would not hesitate to return

This place is always great for a good meal....the prices are reasonable the atmosphere is delightful, the service is impeccable and the food is excellent. Just a quick thank you to Gabby Ivana and of course Kasha for always making sure everything is perfect. Don’t miss this restaurant if you are visiting NYC....definitely in your budget....

Food was fine as was the service. The waitress worked well in a busy Dining area. But it all went wrong when we asked for the bill. The discretionary tip (of which I normally do not have a problem with) was hand written in full including the last cent. It should be up to me to decide the tip. So I purposely short changed the tip to a measly $7. The reaction was we were told we had to pay the rest of the top. After pointing out the cumpulsay part was paid plus a small tip, he threatened to add it onto the cost of the food. We eventually paid (which we would if they had not written it down). So due to their attitude we won't be back and a negative review on TA.

We stopped here pretty late, after a show. We asked if they were still taking food orders (they were). They ended up serving us right at closing time and staff had to wait for us to eat, and they were so nice, friendly and NOT angry about it. I ordered the patty melt which I mistakenly thought was just a regular burger (instead of burger /grilled cheese sandwich). It was good, and hit the late night hunger spot perfectly.

Great day for outdoor seating. They had a few tables outside and added more to accommodate new arrivals. We had a fine brunch. Great food, nice drinks, good service, etc. The menu has a southwestern leaning to it. Lots of variety and good memories to boot.

I recently moved to an apartment around the corner from Route 66. It has become my go-to place. The food is very good. The portions are ample. Good service. Varied menu.

After walking for ages exploring New York we found this little gem as we grew hungry. A great find at that. Food was very tasty and reasonably priced. The only thing that stopped me giving the fifth star was the service; not bad by any stretch but not the happiest waitress we had in NY.

Lovely atmosphere, great local beers, food was of a high standard, staff, location and price all spot on!

We were out walking and passed by this place. We were feeling thirsty so only went in for a drink. It was so nice, Mexican music playing and a lovely atmosphere . We had a look at the menu and decided to have a blt. It was delicious and I also had the most wonderful hot chocolate. The staff were really friendly especially as they were near to closing and didn't hurry us up at all

Had breakfast here today can honestly say it was the best french toast I've ever had. Coffee was perfect so much so had 3 refills. Staff were very pleasant and we never had to ask for refills.

We came across this restaurant while walking 9th ave and gave it a try and we were very glad we did. The food was excellent and the service was great, steak was very tasty and the red snapper was perfect. We had a pitcher of sangria which we shared with a couple we met there and we all truly enjoyed it. A great place to eat outside at a the sidewalk table.

I tried for the first time this restaurant, though I had passed by it several times but never found myself attracted by it. It was a good surprise. The décor is well-thought and provides comfort. The food was better than expected, regarding presentation, preparation and taste. Service was bit intrusive but reasonable. Prices were fair.

There were five of us, including two children. The place hit the spot for the most part. We went there two days in a row because it was kid friendly. I really liked my burger with mushrooms and Swiss. The French fries were hot, crisp, and fresh. The only thing was the bun was a brioche that totally fell apart. I would have preferred the multigrain, but they never mentioned it. The next night I had a Greek salad with chicken. Chicken was not dry which was great, but anchovies were way too salty. Also, something was wrong with the ice tea that day.

This place always seems to be doing well so I gave it a couple of tries. Service is constantly bad. My third try was for lunch. The fries were soggy which is not a plus for this type of place. The chicken sandwich was tasteless and chicken was dry. Three tries and I'm out

We have frequented this restaurant over the years for Sunday breakfast. For a long time it was a favorite. In our opinion, it appears to have changed. New menu has the makings of a diner menu. Regular workers are no longer to be seen. Is it under new management? We don't know,

Hand a nice steak diner here. The steak was great as was each member of staff. It would pay to call ahead and make a booking.

Just dropped in after 5 hours strolling through Manhattan. I was really hungry and thirsty but found all my needs satisfied. Had a delicious Burger with Waffle-Fries and a nice IPA. Fast and friendly service, good food and a nice location. Recommendable!!!

I have had breakfast here several times during visits to NYC and have always been pleased by the service and the food.

We happily just wandered across Route 66 Cafe and from the time our maitre'de showed us to our table the staff were wonderful. The breakfast selections, coffee and juices were extremely affordable and tasty to boot. We arrived around 10am and when leaving the Cafe was really staring to fill with patrons. We look forward to visiting again as also only short walk to the Hudson.

The chicken salad sandwich is to die for. Cozy place. Friendly staff. Food takes a bit long to come out.

We walked down 9th Avenue look for somewhere to eat before heading to the theater and came across this place. We like the look of the menu and went it. It was packed but we waited no more than 10 mins before we were seated. The servers were great, attentive and friendly. All four of us ordered from the breakfast menu and it was all very delicious. Highly recommend the hot chocolate, yum. A very affordable place with great food.

I had the grilled pork chop. It was awesome. The salad was great. My wife had a chicken panini it was good. French fries were great. Cole slaw was great also. You can tell the restaurant has a great chef. Our waitress awful. She had a bad attitude and was gone for about 20 minutes. We had to pay with the bartender. I recommend the restaurant. They just need better service. Would have given a better rating if the service was better

My husband and I travelled to NY for a short break to celebrate our anniversary. We had meals in many different places....street food, Italian, diner, cafe/bar etc and were bitterly disappointed in both the quality and service of the food, until we entered the relaxed friendly atmosphere of the Route 66. The staff were knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful. The food was fresh, hot and plentiful. Wine a little expensive, but as someone said "you are in NY!" Thank you to you all at Route 66 Cafe!!

My husband & I just had dinner at Route 66 - on a Monday evening. It was near our hotel, it was really cold out and we didn't want to walk too far so we decided to pop in here. It looked nice enough once we got inside and we were seated right away - went downhill from there. After I sat down, I noticed a dried on food drip stain on the table in front of me - I decided not to make a big deal of it. One young guy came to take our order - my husband had a beer but I only wanted water and he asked a few times if I'd like some wine, I kept saying no, that the water was fine. He took our food order - the soup and salad came out in pretty good time. Caesar salad and chicken soup w/orzo were ok, nothing special. Then a different young guy came to refill our water glasses; we had finished our soup and salad, he waited awkwardly by our table for a moment and then asked if we'd like any coffee or dessert ... we said we hadn't had our dinners yet!! Took a while for our meals to arrive even though it wasn't particularly busy. We both ordered one of the "specials" - the fried chicken; there was nothing special about it. In fact it was gross - a few pieces of chicken absolutely dripping in grease and fat with a few bits of coating hanging off it, with sides of garlic mashed potatoes, coleslaw and two plain biscuits. The coleslaw was good but the rest wasn't. Not once during our soup, salad or main meals did anyone ask how our food was, nor were we even asked at the end of our meal. The only good thing about this place was the bread that we got at the beginning of our meal - it was delicious. We were given our bill with a "suggested gratuity" of 18% already added. Being the good Canadians that we are, we went ahead and paid and got out of there. I would not return!

We stopped by for breakfast this morning and it was amazing! The pancakes were cooked to perfection and my partner's french toast was delicious. We barely cleared our plates of the "lumberjack" with two eggs and bacon.

Been to route 66 three times now on three different visits. Each time for breakfast and each time I have had the French toast which I can honestly say that it's the best I have ever tasted. Husband and daughter have had different items each time all being very tasty. What I wanted to acknowledge is the staff, they were very helpful, polite and friendly. Being from UK ( speaking for my family in particular) we like to enjoy our time at restaurants, and not feel like we're at Mac's or feel uncomfortable that we have to pay and vacate the table as soon as the last bit of food has been placed into your mouth. It was as before very relaxed. Good coffee, food and juice. So to the owners I thank you for employing such good staff👍

Food was fresh & tasty with a good selection. Portion size was very good & was an enjoyable experience. If you're looking for a genuinely no-frills diner, you can't go wrong!

Dropped in for some drinks. Eastern European staff. Service was prompt. Measured the spirits v free pour. Nothing to get excited about.

Very good service and simple well cooked food . Lovely pancakes and little muffins as surprise with my cuppa. Enjoyed eating here very much.

Had lunch here while attending a meeting in Manhattan. Good sandwiches and wraps, generous portions, and soup is included. A very busy place on a Tuesday afternoon.

This is a great place to eat. Good prices too. Popped in here on a sunday night after having had a drink.

We were staying at the Empire Hotel on 63rd for 4 nights and stumbled across Route 66 on the first evening. What a find.. The atmosphere, the staff , the food was excellent , so we ate here for the rest of our visit. It's slightly off the beaten track, so the prices are good. About $80 fed the 3 of us, including soft drinks and a pitcher of beer. For NY, very reasonable.. There's a good choice of food, like I said, we ate here 4 nights and each dish we had was excellent. Highly recommended, and would definitely visit here again.

We happened by Route 66 and after reviewing the menu we decided to try it out. Good decision. The lunch specials were various burgers and sandwiches with a cup of the soup of the day. We split a NYC Panini and opted for the corned beef. We got the split pea soup and added a cup of beef tortilla soup. All were very good with service to match in a very nice restaurant. We'll be back.

Went for breakfast there with the family and even the teenage boy liked it which is a good point in it self. Food was what you want

we came across this restaurant on our first day and we hit the jackpot we had breakfast there for 5 day it was very good and the service was great and very fair price I would recommend this restaurant all da.

Really poor reception upon arriving. Didn't feel welcome or looked after by our server. The food was mediocre at best.

We needed somewhere close to our hotel for brunch. We sat at an outside table, which was nice and service was quick. The brunch deal is decent value, including a juice and coffee. Food was fine but nothing special. I had the summer fruit crepes.

We went for brunch, the food were great and the pricing were reasonable, especially considering the location. Highly recommended!

After a show the 4 of us wanted a drink plus a snack and we stumbled upon this place and it was perfect. I had this awesome Greek salad and savored each morsel. My friends had wings and burgers and they said that they were quite tasty. All in all it was a favorable experience.

We live in the neighborhood and have only had breakfast here which was good. We wanted to stay in the neighborhood for Super Bowl and this was the perfect spot. They had an array of specials and the food was really good. Food is usually good in this area but the amount of food and selection was impressive. The staff were very good and attentive! We'll definitely come back.

A neighborhood staple, great lunch specials and full menu and bar. Today's bacon-cheddar burger was just perfect. Juicy, tasty, fresh and flavorful. Mostly a varied diner menu in a relaxed atmosphere.

Staying at the Hudson hotel and wanted breakfast nearby in a good diner. This place is only a couple of blocks from the hotel. Went about 8am on a Saturday morning and only a few tables were taken, but by the time we left at 8.45 it was pretty full so go early to get a table. There are about 30 different breakfast options to choose from with omelettes offered with many different combinations being a strong point. The waitress was very friendly. My California omelette with potatoes and toast came out really quickly for $13. Fun decor in the interior. Would come back again.

This is our second visit and still loved it!! Food is so good. Kind of small place and tight seating but worth it!

We visited twice during our stay in New York, both times were outstanding, the food was out of this world and when we mentioned it was our silver wedding anniversary we were given champagne, a really lovely touch.. Thankyou route 66

My wife, my daughter and I had breakfast there. The food, atmosphere and service were very good. It is a casual, relaxing place to go and eat and have a nice conversation and I will definitely go again next time we are in NYC.

This is my second review of this place (second trip). Must have either changed hands or new chef... Previously was buzzing with customers, not now. Although the coffee was improved, everything else was tasteless. When we got the bill, the waitress had penned in the desired tip amount....says it all

Nice burger in Nice inviorment a bit out side the most turistic aera in midtown. OK service and OK prises.

This is the perfect place for breakfast. Me and my husband were staying at the Hudson Hotel and visted Route 66 for breakfast as it was close by. After our first visit we came back again the following day. The breakfast was lovely, lots of options to choose from. The staff were very friendly and attentive and were making sure customers had coffee refills. Would recommend to anyone wanting a good breakfast before spending the day exploring the city.

We had a Sunday brunch here and loved the options to pick a cocktail with our main dish. Lots of food for the price and our server even brought out some carrot cake "on the house" at the end. Casual atmosphere with some seating outside (the front of the restaurant was open as well for fresh air) so overall, a lovely experience.

We stopped in for no other reason than it was pouring buckets. Had very tasty burgers and sautéed spinach while waiting out the weather. Unlucky with weather but lucky with dinner.

Looking for a place to eat on 9th Avenue in uptown New York I ended up going into Scenic Route 66 Café because it looked as if there were a few open tables. There definitely was 'Route 66' décor items, but hard to make a downtown New York connection, I thought. Maybe it's just the Route 66 mythology that is appealing. This is a decidedly casual place with a neighbourhood feel, and perhaps fifteen or twenty tables in a rather dark décor. Although not terribly busy it did fill up more while I was there, and it was obvious that the staff knew a number of the guests, so the place had a pleasant ambiance. Service was friendly and efficient, and apart from the person who showed to my table and the server, at least one other person brought water, brought my main course, etc. I decided on a Brooklyn Lager ($7) since I have been trying different local beers while here. I order one the evening's special, which was Cajun skirt steak ($25). This came with broccoli and cheese soup. This was warm, which was a good way to start since it was a not-warm evening. The steak included mixed vegetables and french fries. Skirt steak is one of the less tender steak cuts, but when properly cooked it is very flavourful. The 'Cajun' part was not very spicy but had a sort barbecue-style sauce (probably not the correct description). It was good, and typically chewy as is the case with this cut. The servings of fries and vegetables were very generous. The vegetables - a mix of carrots, broccoli, and zucchini - were nicely done, and seemed to have oil on them, so perhaps parboiled and then finished in a pan (just guessing). They were not overcooked, which I was glad about. So I definitely enjoyed Route 66, it was a pleasant discovery. I'd be happy to go back when in the city again, although there are so many dining opportunities one feels tempted to try as many different ones as possible.

We ate breakfast here two days in a row. Not only is athe food delicious, the prices are reasonable. You won't be sorry you stopped in.

My husband, 2 daughters and I were in NYC for a week and the breakfast we had here was the best we had the whole week. The price was very reasonable for the amount and quality of food that we had.

I ordered a cheeseburger, cooked medium, via Seamless. It arrived WAY overcooked -- dry as a bone and inedible! An outrageous ripoff considering the price!

We often visit the Midtown West area of NYC, and the Route 66 café is one of our regular stops. Great menu, reasonable prices, and the place is always hopping. While there can occasionally be lines to get in, they go quick and it's worth it.

They delivered to our hotel, so we gave them a try. Delicious! A huge salad, a delicious sandwich, Stewarts root beer, and cheesecake - all very, very good.

found it first day and went back with family most days as was enjoyed by all service great and nice staff

Local restaurant where you can get a good and not too expensive breakfast in NYC. Nothing fancy, service all right but good omelettes and French toasts!

Just back from NYC, went to Route 66 for lunch and breakfast, great little cafe. The head waitress (owner?) was lovely and welcoming. She made us feel right at home. GREAT latte’s and cappuccino’s ☕️, great tasty sandwiches, not expensive either, and the pancakes 🥞👌 were fab on our last morning! I’ve bookmarked it, you should too! Next time i’m in New York, I’ll defo go back.

We really enjoyed the French onion soup and the chicken teriyaki black bean tortilla wrap. Very tasty. The fries were great as well. Then we sat and chatted for a couple of hours. Great atmosphere.

We went on a muggy night and it was very hot inside. Fans would have helped tremendously. I ordered a mixed drink and the server said no why don’t you order this other drink, it is more refreshing. I was so tired I didn’t argue. The drink was bad, two strong to drink and no flavor. I had the chicken Parmesan and it was so tough the server suggested a steak knife. It really had no flavor and way too much sauce. No offer of bread with all the sauce. They just weren’t very nice either compared to the other places in Hell’s Kitchen.

Route 66 is very popular with those living in the neighborhood as well with visitors to the city. The menu is extensive with the addition of daily specials. I have eaten there many times and have never had anything I did not like the portions are generous. Quick and cordial service. Take-out and delivery are available if you are staying in a nearby hotel and do not feel like leaving your room, give them a call.

I stopped by to have something to eat and a drink. The place is nice, it has some charm, and there is outside seating too. The waitresses and waiters are nice although they can't wait to clear the table to have the next guests come in. Not too nice, especially when you haven't completely finished your soda and you see your glass disappear! Apart from this, the food is good but still average so I don't think I will eat there again. Prices are average too for that kind of restaurant. I would go somewhere else

We were looking for a place close to our hotel where my gluten free wife could eat. I was expecting marginal diner food. The staff could not have been more helpful. The food was really really tasty and not over priced at all. We ate lunch and it was so good my friends returned tonight for dinner. I had lemon chicken and it was excellent. Stop in for a surprisingly great lunch!

Part of the 9th Ave. restaurant scene in New York, this quiet little café – – with outdoor patio seating on the sidewalk as well as indoor seating options—was a perfect dinner spot for dinner after a late (11pm) arrival in Manhattan. From a variety of pasta choices to a list of tasty sandwiches and burgers, from some super salads to some nice grilled meats, the menu is diverse and interesting. Lights were low; music track was classic Spanish guitar. Service was absolutely first rate! Nice craft beers and wines by the glass. We had a classic BLT with piping hot fries and the spinach with grilled shrimp salad; both were excellent. Recommended!

Our friends went to the place without asking were they should go in New York City. This should have been top of the list not to go to. They were intimidated to buy cheap wine, cold food and dirty bathrooms and areas. This place should be closed down. Like something out of a eastern european slum.

Food, service, price were all okay yet nothing special. So if you're looking for a standard experience this place would do just fine, otherwise keep looking.

We had a family dinner there and everybody had good food. The staff seems to be in a good mood, which creates a nice atmosphere. Can definitely recommend the burgers.

The service was particularly slow, however the food was very good. We both had omelets and it made up for the wait. I would return

The best Greek Salad I’ve ever had. So delicious and huge portion. All the staff were super friendly.

We were up in NYC for a show and this place ruined out weekend. We went in as it was empty and now we can see why. The service was bad , some girl was real patrnoizing just for a tip . The kids food was cold and they couldn't eat it after waiting 45 minutes for it. Our Dad had some egg dish which was bad. We left and a little later he was so sick we had to take him to the ER room. We went back but the woman who said she was the manager took no responsibility whoever she was and very badly dressed, not professional We read more reviews on the internet and this place has had bugs in the food and bad reviews all over. It should be closed down or cleaned up.It's sad as it's in a great place with a load of good places around . Whoever owns it needs new managers and a makeover, and clean it up.

I wanted to have an omelette and my sister wanted a smoothie and Route 66 offered both and they were good. The lattes were very good, too. Our service was outstanding! If you are in the neighborhood and want a late breakfast I would recommend stopping here.

Great service and food was good the restaurant is air con so makes for a comfortable atmosphere , I had eggs Benedict with Canadian bacon

This nice little restaurant on 9th Avenue is a great place for either before or after the theater. There are exposed brick walls with interesting items on the wall. The menu is filled with many different salads, burgers and other items. We had a Swiss mushroom burger and a turkey salad with mangoes. Both very good. Draft beer as well as in bottles. Reasonably priced - good service makes this a very nice place to eat in the Hell's Kitchen area of NYC.

We were a bit late for breakfast so we had brunch. Service was very efficient the food was good and plentiful. Not slow to top up the coffee either.

My daughter wanted pancakes! I wanted a Gyro! Where else but in New York could you get both in the same place; and both were terrific. Conveniently near our hotel with good ratings, Route 66 fit our bill. Food was above average; service was great; and the price was fair. Give them a try!

We have gone to Route 66 many times. It is right around the corner from our NYC apartment. On the whole we have liked it and it has been our default choice when in the City. Earlier this week it was 95F and humid and we took a table by the front windows (inside). The air conditioning was comfortable and nobody was sitting at the sidewalk tables, it was just too hot. Halfway through our dinner, the manager and a staff person start opening the wall of windows. They didn't say anything to us and we were too shocked at their rudeness to say anything. Blasts of hot humid air started coming in at us. We got the check and left and WE ARE NEVER GOING BACK. We told the manager as we left and he did not even seem apologetic. NEVER AGAIN. Rude restaurants should go out of business.

This place is not fancy. It is a solid casual-fare, family friendly, something for everyone kinda place. I’ve been going here for years, and honestly think these are the best blueberry pancakes in Manhattan. Tons of fresh berries, not too sweet batter. Just. Good. This time I ventured off the beaten path and tried the avocado toast, which was okay. The arugula/tomato salad that accompanied it was actually pretty bad....but stick with the pancakes and you’ll be fine. The bar food here is pretty good too.....

We wandered in for a Sunday lunch and Sue did an excellent job of ordering her Lobster Hash. Perfect (it also came with a mimosa.) I did a horrible job of ordering a turkey club which had 1 inch thick sliced turkey and was ice cold. It is a great location on 9th, very local with seating on the street (or inside.)

Food very good no long wait once ordered.Staff very friendly and good selection to choose from, can have breakfast, lunch or dinner

Went out for a walk one night to find a restaurant to eat at as me and my partner were both starving from doing touristy stuff all day. As we were both knackered we didn't want to walk far. Luckily this hotel is only a couple of blocks down from where we were staying. Lovely place to eat at, nice background music playing not too loud. Food was exceptional and very filling! Didn't take forever to arrive once we had ordered. Top quality produce used. Staff all amazingly friendly and free water refills as soon as your glass is empty

Ordered opposites here, a steak and a burger. Both were fantastic. Catered for gluten free also. Would highly recommend.

The best place you could ever go for food and drinks. The bartender Eric is super nice and accommodating. I would rate this 11/10!!!!

2nd visit, both times for Sunday brunch. Love the complimentary mimosa or bloody mary. Fritatas very good. Our table also had delicious french toast and pancakes. We've been told milk shakes are excellent, but that will have to wait for the next visit. Service 1st visit was good, this visit not so much. Still, will go back.

If you are tired of sandwiches and bagels everyday, this is a nice place to go. Food was good and most of the menu items comes with a choice of soup or salad for example. Service was also a plus and the environment is very cozy and warm.

New York on New Years Eve - stupidly busy and struggled to book dinner anywhere. Concierge managed to find this restaurant near Central Park and what a find it was! French and fabulous was the food and the service and wine was wonderful. Thanks everyone, great evening

Staying at a nearby hotel so picked this place out for breakfast. On the first visit (a Sunday) we were looked after so well - lots of coffee refills to go with the superb breakfast (omelette, pancakes and yogurt/fruit). Went again the next day and it was almost like we were an inconvenience. Breakfast was still very very good but it didn't have the same ambiance. Had to ask for the juice included with the breakfast (and the waiter didn't appear to understand what we were asking for) and coffee refills were hard to come by. Really need to look at the service and ensure that all the team are onboard and look after customers because they are serving good food!

Another great local find while in NY. Neighborhood gem. Fantastic fresh, quality food. Ambience & lively atmosphere, obviously a local favorite as well. We love finding good local spots while traveling. We tried a variety of dishes - all were so tasty and don't regret any. Another spot where my son was treated well, not like "a kid", and treated like he mattered. Staff friendly.

Just dropped in after 5 hours strolling through Manhattan. I was really hungry and thirsty but found all my needs satisfied. Had a delicious Burger with Waffle-Fries and a nice IPA. Fast and friendly service, good food and a nice location. Recommendable!!!

Pancakes, waffles, French toast, omelette, coffee, smoothies, 5 star food, 5star service. Friendly, efficient and good value for money. Went twice in 3 days and would recommend.

We were wandering round the Hell’s Kitchen area looking for somewhere to have brunch . My husband had spied this one on trip adviser and had seen the good reviews.it was very busy but we were shown to a table by a friendly waitress . Our drinks orders were taken when they were delivered to the table they came with three complimentary cakes . My husband and I chose the tuna melt , oh my days it was immense and huge , you can order a side of various potato’s to accompany this dish but so glad I didn’t , it came withcoleslaw too, so I now try to recreate it at home but not quite the same . It was Halloween while we were there and they had made a real effort with their decorations, wishwe had a hidden gem like this diner where we live but alas don’t think we could pull it off , alas we will just have to go back again then .

Joined a friend, who is a regular, for lunch but weren't impressed. Service was very pleasant and friendly and it has a nice interior decor. Let down by the food, though. We both had the chicken salad wraps, which were soggy. Lentil soup was inviting and tasty on a cold windy day, but caused us both severe gastric discomfort for the next 24 hours. Not to be repeated.

Quick service! Very attentive server! Food was great! 3 kids ate their food (all picky eaters!) Would return next time we are in town!!

I wish to vent my disgust at the way I was treated at this restaurant the food and the normal service was very good, it was just the managers attitude when we paid what was a fair tip and not the suggested tip of 23% he claimed we needed to pay the full 23% or he would add it to the bill I think this practice is unfair it is not mentioned anywhere on the menu as to the extra cost. He would not back down and see our point of view which was it was at our discretion to award what we felt was a decent tip. This is why I have given it a poor rating

The restaurant was cosy but very noisy. The Caesarsallad was not great. The chicken was very dry and there was not enough dressing. The guacamole was nice but needed a lot of salt.

The place is nice to have a drink, but the map not satisfactory. Burger served cold without sauce, without cheese, dry. Bread with a steack. Not worth the indicated rate.

This is such an amazing surprise. We just happened to be passing by and stopped in. The chef special pork shank was to die for. A small space which allows for a super relaxed nice dinner visit. You kind of forget you're in manhattan. Food and service were outstanding. An absolute must every time we go to the city now.

Loved this place , food , drinks and staff were excellent, we came here most nights after a day of sightseeing . Can’t wait to come back

We first attended this bar before we headed to a Yankees game! We got the early bird menu which was burgers and beer for $20 served with fries! The food was delicious and the waiter was very friendly and helpful! The second time we visit this bar was for breakfast, the food was not as nice, undercooked eggs and hard potatoes! The waiter then proceeded to give us the bill and told us the gratuity was included, however to my disgust it had been written in pen and was a 20% tip! In my understanding gratuity is at the discretion of the person being served not the server! This made the breakfast cost over $50 for two omelettes! I would recommend this place for happy hour but not for breakfast!

Overall, not much to say. Wouldn't return though, with all the much better options just south into Hell's Kitchen. Oh and WAY too salty mussels.

We had breakfast here every day of our stay! Sampled pancakes for a couple of mornings and also the omelettes. Honestly can say I enjoyed visiting every day. They serve lovely fresh orange juice and very good coffee too. The cafe is clean and airy and the food is freshly cooked and tasty. A great start to your day. I'd definitely come back here.

Omg lobster benedict is so delicious. Great service and reasonably priced. Great poached eggs and potatoes with omelette the best yet. Even the fresh fruit is great.

The public speaks!!! When. We arrive at Noon on a Saturday this restaurant was crowded. Whereas others on 9th avenue were empty. My eggs Benedict was excellent. The hamburgers and wraps were enjoyed by others. The complimentary rolls for the table were appreciated.

Wish we had of found this great little cafe sooner everything was A1 A good choice menu of well prepared well presented, good value for money food, our waitress was Indy, she knows her stuff if you want to see a great waitress in action watch Indy, well done Route 66 Cafe.

We stopped her after tracking 9th avenue for somewhere we would all like to eat. We were not disappointed. Food was good, service was fine and reasonably priced. A good pit stop.

We were looking for a nice steak somewhere not too expensive and near the Theatres. This was a great find. The staff were very friendly and attentive, there was a lot to choose from on the menu and the kids were entertained. I liked that there was a great big window on to the street. Good desserts too and a decent price.

Not being from New York me and my dad and was only staying for 5 nights so we had to find our feet One morning looking for breakfast stumbled across this place after much consideration of all other places Well what a great place this is The decor the staff and the food👌🏻 Can't not complain Both me and my dad had omelettes which came with your choice of side and drinks Obviously chose the fruit but omggggg yum delicious, tasty and top could top up your tea or coffee The portion size was enough to keep us going threw till evening If I ever visit again will come and find this place !!

Our daughter suggested this restaurant for dinner. We got there early and got a table for 3. The wait staff was attentive and got us drinks while we waited. I ordered the pork sliders and they kindly exchanged the fries with a salad. The sauce was spicier than i expected but not bad. My daughter got an huge burger and fries which she said was very good. My husband ordered jambalaya and salad. I tried the jambalaya and thought it was rather tasteless and bland. We ordered a chocolate mousse cake to share and it was delicious. I would go back.

We were initially looking for a different restaurant and found this little spot. We were happy we stopped here. The food was good and the service was attentive. Very clean and fun atmosphere. If you are visiting from out of town, I suggest making the little walk and go here. Definitely worth it.

Only one of the staff members(Eric) was actually friendly and helpful I heard the staff arguing and being pretty bitchy, rushing around and snapping at each other...just not very professional, I’m afraid The food is ok, just but I’d give it a miss seeing as so many other bars in the area offer better service and much better food

We were there for dinner and breakfast. The joice of food was good. The quality of food and the service was pretty nice.

Great Food Great Staff had I found this place earlier I would definitely have visited again, our waitress Indy was friendly and had a lovely manner with my children making us all feel welcome. Much better breakfast than the Morning Cafe.

Came across this place on the first night in New York and it was fantastic. The place was clean, the food was amazing and the friendly & attentive staff made our visit there an awesome one. Thank you so much! I would absolutely recommend this place

Bad service! First, we had to ask 3 waitresses for crayons to come with the kids menu. Then, there was no green crayon and they snapped instantly. Then, after ordering sprite we received sparkling water. The waitress was rude as well and the Mac and cheese was penne with clumpy cheese on top.

Great breakfast cooked just as we wanted. Free coffee refills. Really friendly and helpful staff. Well worth a visit!

The food was great and the service was friendly. We ordered burgers, onion rings, and a salad. Enjoyed the experience.

Went again for a pre-theatre lunch. Restaurant was surprisingly empty on a Saturday at 12:15pm. Service was good. Food was good to very good. Hamburgers and fries and consistently very good. Prices very reasonable.

We were in NYC with family. My daughter goes here with our granddaughter when she is in town. She said it was a good place for lunch, and the burgers, in particular. A few of our party wanted their burgers cooked medium well, and waitress spent quite a while explaining that these burgers were much better cooked medium. So, I ordered mine medium. It came medium well, and was dry as she said it would be. I brought it to here attention, and she immediately said she would bring me another one, but I ate this one anyway. A pretty darned good burger, and it would have probably been very good had it been cooked properly. Burgers came with fries, and as I recall, you could order other sides as well. We would go back.

We were staying at the Hudson hotel which is very nearby so this was an easy one to try the food overall was good tasty the atmosphere was authentic. Prices were fair for NYC but resented paying 20% tip as waitress wasn't worth it.

Came here for breakfast on a sunday morning. The menu offers a combination of pretty regular breakfast items plus some dishes that I think are bit less ordinary, so good for parties who need to cater to different preferences or if you are just looking for a slightly different range of dishes. Had a Mexican Breakfast Burrito which was very tasty. Great breakfast spot if you are in the area.

found this first morning and so good went most days with family all agreed was best staff and price ok

We sat in their outdoor seating area because of Covid. Although it took a while for the server to come outside to take our order, they actually got the food out fairly quickly and it was surprisingly good!

A group of Brits arrived by pure accident. And what a gem of a find. The dining area was small and cute, the waiting staff was fabulous and the burgers were very very yummy. Shame we never made it back but it was a four day whirlwind of a trip. Thank you route 66, stay rad :)

Breakfast all day with excellent omelets, burgers, a very good club sandwich, a luncheon special of soup, sandwich and drink etc., all in all much better than Denny's with a similar menu.

I had a lovely solo brunch here. The service was quick and the food was good. I appreciated that the whole front of the restaurant opened up to give lots of air circulation (COVID times).

Stopped here for grilled vegetable panini. It was delicious, served with fries. The staff were efficient and friendly. Excellent value for money.

This place was highly recommended by a friend for their french dip which she said was "too die for." So we made the walk over only to find, it's not on the menu any longer. Our waiter, who was very nice, said all sandwiches are too die for. Unfortunately not so. They were all basic sandwiches and the wrap was just bad. There was an obnoxious drunk at the bar but the wait staff handled him very professionally and kindly got him out. So it's cute with great staff, but the food could use some love.

A cool place, waiters were really nice, food was delightful especially hamburgers and gluten free was really good too.

Good atmosphere. Salmon burger also available which was a lovely alternative to a beef burger. Good portions do no room for dessert!

My wife and I visited for an evening meal. After having had a few average meals on our visit this was a change for the good. My wife ordered a burger and myself the Pork Chop, the waiter informed me I could have a soup or salad as a starter, included in the price. I chose the salad which we shared and was very good. The main courses were very good for quality and taste and the service from the staff friendly and efficient. We chose a bottle of Malbec red wine which for $42 was expensive, however all wine in New York is expensive and it was our choice to chose and pay the price. Would definitely recommend a visit.

In reality, little more than a cafe, albeit with a more upmarket interior feel than some others in the locality. Food was fine.

We sat outside at a bistro table. Initial greeting time was ok, but poor service the rest of the night. Other tables outside by ours were promptly seated and served. They had water refilled, How was your meal? etc. I felt ignored. Food was ok, nothing special about it. I ordered a Ruben and fries. Affordable by NYC standards but not a place I have to go back to.

I have had breakfast here multiple times and it has always been good. It is a decent sized space, clean and the waitstaff is attentive as soon as you walk in. It is close to the theatre district and not far from many of the hotels. It was a cold weekend morning when i was there recently and I sat down and coffee arrived promptly. I ordered a ham and cheese omelette, bacon, rye toast and I opted not to get the home fries. The meal was hot and delicious. I asked for another cup of coffee which arrived promptly and then realized that I had only been there for breakfast but they also have an extensive menu for lunch, dinner and brunch. They have a happy hour every day from 3-7 and again from 10P until closing. Draft beers, mojitos and margaritas are $6 each. Brunch is Saturday and Sunday from 10-4P. I may have friends coming into town so this would be a great place for a meal at any time of day as well as for happy hour. it is very reasonably priced. I would recommend and return.

Our waitress was very friendly. The food was very good. The strawberry sundae was amazing! The atmosphere in this restaurant brought good vibes.

Best breakfast with table service we found in reach of our hotel. Found it on the 4th day of a 7 day stay. Not sure about the (New York wide) obsession with potatoes for breakfast though ........they also have an all day service and bar facility. Never saw them quiet when we passed !

Popped in with my husband , comfortable seats , fab hostess , great food , great price and great bar decor! Superb!

Food quality of my California Fritata accompanied by large portion of home fry of red potato’s was excellent. Outdoor brunch started with choice of Adult beverage, a well spiced Bloody Mary was an excellent choice. Finished off with a relaxing cup of coffee included in the price.

Thank you for making us feel like part of your family on New Years Eve! We walked in 5 minutes before midnight on NYE after leaving a less than stellar experience. They welcomed us with open arms and greeted us with champagne. You made our night! We loved our experience & appreciate your hospitality. I would highly recommend checking out Route 66. Great food, craft cocktails, amazing champagne, loved the espresso Martini’s & superb service! Thank you Eric and the Route 66 family! You made our launch into 2020 so special!

Omg what a steak !! I had the the Route 66 Rib eye cooked to absolute perfection. The service was excellent and the price is what you would expect for food of this quality. Right little gem hidden away in Hell's Kitchen A must visit for me

A lovely warm welcome and super food. The ommlette was delightful and the waffles with cream and berries was one of the best eats of the trip

Stick with the basics: hamburgers, crispy fries (yummy), early bird stuff. I have ordered too many of the "special" entrees only to be disappointed often. Ingredients missing, sauces a bit off, that kind of thing. And the music can be too loud, especially when the place is not very busy and it seems it is loud for the staff. Staff is friendly and they aim to please. This should not feel like "one step above a boring diner", but that is how I felt the last two visits.

Lovely place, excellent burgers, Glutenfree and still good taste. Husbans had pasta, also very well cooked. Good service, good prices.

Good burgers, onion rings, guac and southwest type food on 9th ave. fast service, wide selection. Decenbt beer selection, ok sangria

Found this place by accident on the way to Central Park and we returned a further time during our stay, it was that enjoyable! We visited for breakfast and the pancakes are a must, hubby had eggs benedict and best he has had. Unlimited coffee and reasonably priced for the US and todays exchange rate. Staff friendly and really feel like your in an American Diner.

Route 66 offers up your standard breakfast and brunch items. Waits never seem to be a problem Most food items are pretty average, but a complimentary drink is offered for every order. There's also an extensive smoothie menu.

We were there on last 5th August, our honey moon for 5 days at nyc Great breakfast with pancakes fresh and tasty, service quick and polite: everytime you finish coffee or water, the waiter sudenly comes to fill again the Cup. We came there three times. Good also the scrumble eggs with bacon and cheese. Warm but discreet atmosphera inside. 😊

It seems like they rented a space and decided to call it Route 66. There are a couple of appropriate signs but the big silver ball lights and pink Cocktail sign do not go with the name. Neither does the bad Top 40 music they play. Staff and service were fine. The burgers and fries we had were actually pretty good. But it was pretty dead on a Saturday night so don't expect it'll be around for long.

A really nice laid back eatery. Welcoming staff, great service and great food. We managed to bag tables just inside the front door looking out onto the street. Far enough away from the street to avoid the worst of the vehicle fumes but close enough to people watch (one of my favourite pastimes in NYC). The waiter couldn't have been more helpful. Good menu with plenty of variety and really really good burgers. Well worth a visit if you are visiting the area or staying close by as we were.
Breakfast
Food and service was very good Brilliant value for money and very nice portion size was massive no complaints here brilliant would recommend to everyone
