Nice Vibe

By Ian S |

We had the Brisket and Beef ribs from the pit- good simple food with great beer and service. If you want to try American traditional food cooked well this place is ideal . Nice decor and cool sounds too .....

Good eats

By Bruce T |

Best wings ever... Crispy and so much flavor... Not your boring Buffalo sauce. I had the pulled pork sandwich which I loved nut as advertised it is Carolina style so they are juicy not saucy. My wife had the kale ceasar salad and it had fresh anchovies and Tuscan or lancinato kale.. She loved it I highly recommend this restaurant

The soul of the South in the heart of the North

By Rideordine1979 |

Every now and then the allure of Southern barbecued ribs usurps any desire for refined cuisine. It's primal, pleasurable and utterly delectable. New York's Wall Street is a well hidden destination for foodies, and Stone Street is the locals home away from home. Peppered with restaurants on either side, the eclectic mix of eateries will have you befuddled and salivating all at once. Add the allure of outdoor dining on cobble stoned streets and stringed party lights and you immediately feel more like you are at a friend's place celebrating than a restaurant. The Route 66 Smokehouse is gem among the cobblestones. The decor is reminiscent of the 70s and 80s. Well warn floor boards, high stools and fast service redolent with the smell of hickory and applewood. The food is homely yet cooked in a way that can not be replicated at home. We had it all. Smoked chicken, pulled pork, ribs and brisket with sides of slaw and chips. There were sauces for each meat and they were all delicious. I had a glass of Zinfandel and my wife had a cocktail. Both were extremely generous pours. Our waiter Ben was engaging, genuine and knowledgeable. Don't tell the manager, but he will juggle for you on the quiet and has a thorough working knowledge of the Scottish play. The Route 66 Smokehouse is a fantastic place to unwind and indulge yourself in the best kind of slow food. And if you're looking for a more intimate atmosphere, eat out a little later. We got there at 10 and felt like we had the place to ourselves, even though it was full at the front and outside. For the quintessential taste of the South in the heart of the Big Apple it is hard to go past this BBQ gem.

Good restaurant with a great location

By bridgevalley |

Route 66 Smokehouse is worth a visit. It's located in the beautiful Stone Street area, which in itself is worth a visit. The food is good (not amazing, but definitely good enough) and the portions are really generous. Quick service and really friendly staff (maybe a bit too talkative for quiet Scandinavians like us, but I guess you can't really complain about that).

Smokin Wall Street venue.

By Peter V S |

Route 66 Smokehouse, is a little bit of Smokin Heaven in the centre of Wall Street. Great spot to get some really well done smoked ribs and good Southern food right in NYC. Always ask for a side portion of their home made Ranch sauce, should be sold as a take away. Pork ribs outstanding, more meat less bone than the Beef ribs. Good selection of deserts. Friendly, helpful staff. Clean toilets, can dine outside in the summer. Good Fun place to meet and eat!

Welcome Respite!

By Tom Scott |

I took my family (boys 8 and 11) here after getting off the ferry from the Statue of Liberty. It was a much needed break from the heat. I wanted a place to have a beer and to keep my boys occupied- this was perfect! Highly recommended. Good service and fun games like old school Ninetendo, foosball, ping pong, pinball, etc. upstairs. Great place to get recharge after the statue!

Great pulled pork on a Sunday

By McG_Road_Warrior |

My friend and I gave thus place a try on a Sunday afternoon. It wasn't so crowded and although they had the Jets game on, the had the audio on mute. This made for a please meal. Good section of beers on tap. Service was friendly and our waitress seemed to only appear at the right time, just as we were finishing a beer. We both had pulled pork sandwiches. Our meals came out super quick. They were hot and tasty. Since this place is right off walk street, I'm sure it's packed on a weekday night, so the weekend seems to be a sweet spot if you don't like an over packed and crazy bar,

Great food

By Wfamily_03 |

With the option of outside eating in Stone Street, this is a great place to go after a day exploring the financial district/Manhattan. By New York standards, the prices are average, but the food and the service and the friendliness of the staff are fantastic. Highly recommend.

Great meal

By TC10002013 |

Great value in a traditional burger house. The bison burger was huge! Relatively quiet location out on 9th avenue.

Okay.

By haja2003 |

Came across this whilst looking for an American style place to eat. Pleasant staff. Menu was ok. Food wasn't the best smoke house food I've ever had-considering this was in America I did feel disappointed. I've had much better food in the UK. Was expensive for the quality. Probably wouldn't go back.

Poor food

By thoeriksen |

Friendly service, poor food.. The sweet potato fries were soggy.. The ribs was 85% bone, 10% skin and 5% meat.. And it was only two ribs on the platter.. Hadde to leave the restaurant hungry... Not good..

Good slider, bad salad

By holacolafirst |

I had the brisket sliders which were tasty but my brother was not at all happy with the wedge salad. Said it might have been the worst salad he's ever had. So stick to the beef. : )

Dinner

By pieserver |

Thank you Sean and your trainee for you attentive service and ordering assistance. We started with the crab dip and a cocktail. I had the heirloom tomato salad w/oysters. It was a warm, perfect blend of flavors and tender. The other entree was the brisket with a side of Mac & Chz. It was as tender as butter. I had never ordered brisket before, so I'm hoping I'm not ruined for life. The Mac and cheese was a little smoky. I'm a Mac and Chz snob so I thought it was okay, but the person who ordered it thought it was very good.

Bad bad service

By DCalexandre |

Very disappointing experience. The waitress wasn't paying any attention. The appetizer never showed up and then 30min later she came to apologize for the long wait and then all of sudden the entrees arrived? What happened to the appetizer? Same for drinks, with the entrees we ordered another round of drinks and they only arrived when we were almost done eating. The food tasted OK, nothing to brag about.

Excellent turkey dinner.

By sheepish26 |

We wondered about having two turkey dinners in one day but thought we’d give it a try, and we were glad we did. The white meat was nicely sliced, the Brussel sprouts and bourbon sweeties were amazing, and the portions were substantial. Our server was very pleasant allowing us time and space to wait for our entire party, and they surprised the ‘birthday girl’ with a huge sparkly candle. We really enjoyed our visit!

Eastern NC BBQ in NY

By KevinL41872 |

I have been to the Smokehouse a few times for drinks and the atmosphere gets hopping after work, but never food. On this visit I finally enjoyed the cuisine and must say, not bad at all. My app was brought to me hot and within a good time, server was quite attentive and food was hot. Portion size was good and prices definitely reasonable. A nice place to eat inside or outside, especially on nice evenings.

A beautiful day and a very good lunch

By DonnieOshkosh |

I was in New York visiting my son and we stopped at the Stone Street area after a most excellent tour of lower Manhattan on May 15. We were drawn by the outdoor seating on this beautiful day and picked the Smokehouse to order from – from several other restaurants that also bordered on the closed-off street outdoor dining area here. We had to wander around just a bit to figure out “the drill” but learned if we just sat in the eating area outside; they would come and take our orders. We had to wait a few minutes before our order was taken, but nothing outlandish. I had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and my son ordered a Bell’s 2 Hearted beer and we enjoyed our drinks while we waited for our food. I ordered the smoked pulled chicken sandwich which was served with a molé sauce, cilantro, cucumber, etc. and it was very good. I had to go inside the restaurant to use the restroom and it was dark and cool inside- the way I would like it if we had eaten inside. Our bill was $46.00 before tax and tip for our sandwiches and drinks- not inexpensive but hey, we’re in lower Manhattan here! My only concern was that the outdoor tables were a little “rickety” so be careful when seating yourself or getting up from the table. The food was very good and the service decent. I would recommend it- either inside or outside on a nice day. Next time I’ll try one of the other BBQ specialties from their menu. I hope you found this review helpful.

Loved this place

By Daniel J |

Great food, great value and overall great experience. One of my favourite places to eat. A lively place with good selection of food and drinks.

Very good food

By Darren L |

We eat here twice on a recent trip to New York as it was very convenient to our hotel , On the next street. Both evenings were busy but managed to get a table ok. First night I had the Brisket and the next time went for an angus burger. Both with fries and slaw. Both were very good as was the service.

Oh no

By Rockfist |

Oh no I hate these places. Why serve beer in Mason jars? True it was nice, about five years ago but now I'd just like a normal glass. And while I'm at it I'd like to be served within the first half hour of looking for the server. Don't like this pretentious place.

Those beef ribs !!!

By nickhanna71 |

Couldn't decide what we wanted from 'the pit' so opted for 'All of the above!' More than enough for two - beef and pork rib, chicken, brisket and pulled pork with fries and crispy onion - music and beer was great aswell - really attentive waitress - definitely recommend

Great place for dinner!

By Buck T |

Went here with the wife, sat at the bar and had a great time. Service was good and fast! Happy hour was until 7 so I had a few beers I've never tried before! The outdoor area was packed! Great place to try!

Great Casual, Fun Atmosphere, Great Food

By Vickie R |

Great BBQ and extremely friendly waitstaff. A really casual and fun atmosphere, without being too "themed". We shared a few apps, the pork rinds (not a fan, but my friends loved), peel and eat shrimp (great flavor, cooked to perfection) and the pretzel and cheese (heavenly). I had the 1/2 rack of ribs, great rub and fell off the bone. Didn't love the mashed potatoes, they seemed fake. Had the brussels sprouts and they were wonderful. Wanted to try bourbon (when in Rome) so had the recommended Jack Daniels Honey with a splash of ginger ale and it is my new favorite drink. Definitely a go again!

Nice restaurant, great staff and great food as well

By Rohan R |

I loved my dinner at Route 66, the staff was kind and the waitress even offered a box to take our leftovers home. The food was priced very well and the quality of the food was perfect!

Steak, mmmm

By _dsdiving69 |

Lovely big steak beautifully prepared. Well presented. Delicious. Good value too, If in NYC, this place is in Hells Kitchen on 9th, 20-30% better value than Midtown. Enjoy!

Great food in a great atmosphere

By sge31 |

Visited here after researching the Wall St area online and found this lovely street (Pearl St) with many restaurants left and right where you can eat outside or in. We arrived after 8pm on a cold Monday night in May so there were several tables available inside (no seating outside at this time due to the cold wet weather!). We were greeted by a very friendly waitress who gave us time to make our choices and was very helpful explaining some of the menu items. Due to its location you get many office workers in here but it doesn't feel too corporate thanks to its Americana vibe. The food was delicious (great burger and delicious tender steak) and quite reasonably priced for the location. There is a good bar here too. Recommended!

Incredible Burgers Going On Here

By caymankid |

I dined here for dinner on July 1, 2018 with my family. We originally went in for bar b que however the burgers looked killer so we went for them. We started with nachos (killer) and then we each had the angus burger and they were killer as well. They get their beef from a farm made to their specifications and you can taste quality in every bite. By far the best burger I had in NYC. Our bill was $82 not including tip.

Varried menu

By Marsha D |

The food was basically good. Ostrich burgers were tasty, chicken sandwich was dry, nacho appetizer was good. Music was a bit loud and rap probably wasn't the best choice but they did change it. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Excellent Food and Drink

By Tom D |

This place May easily have the best food on Stone St, and the drink options are very deep, with a rotating craft beer list, tons of whiskey, seasonal cocktails, and frozen drinks to top it all off. Enjoy the outdoor seating during the summer months, and warm up with some mulled wine at the cozy bar during the cold months.

Dry burgers, greasy sweet potato fries, flavorless ribs

By Dee;) |

What a disappointment. The food was horrible. They couldn't even provide fresh lettuce and tomato for my burger. We don't mind the prices but at least give a decent meal. This place is worse than any NY greasy spoon. Check out the photos.

Very nice lunch

By Andrew19 |

Right in the heart of wall Street. Located in stone street. This restaurant was very cozy and very well decorated matching the theme of Route 66. White beans tomato soup was very flavorful, the pulled pork sandwich was as expected. Nothing fenomenal. Great service and perfect location for a quick lunch and a good beer break. Wish we stopped there for their happy hour between 4 and 7 pm.

Not overly impressed

By mbodamer |

I walked into this place and there was nearly noone there. A few people at the bar, there was no sign saying to seat yourself or wait to be seated. I wondered around a bit looking for someone that worked there. Finally went to the bar and said I wanted to grab some food and the bartender told me to go outside to the outdoor eating area and flag down a guy wearing a plaid shirt. After getting seated it seemed to take a bit of time to get the food considering that there weren't many people there. Other restaurants right next door seemed much livelier, maybe they knew something i didn't. I got a sliced brisket that I expected to come with some sort of BBQ type sauce and it came with an extremely salty Au jus although the brisket itself was not salty at all. But still a decent meal and a decent price. Maybe I just caught them on an off day. I would try them again.

Want food in Lower Manhattan? Avoid this place at all costs

By masojon |

I have no idea how this place has an average of 4 out of 5. We arrived on a cold 3rd Jan 2022. The place was empty. I can understand why. Ok, I know Lower Manhattan is going to be pricey and I know COVID is having an adverse impact on staffing and supplies. But if you can’t serve what is on your menu, take it off. Don’t pass off frozen food as fresh. Don’t tell me the “rosemary fries” are what they are on the menu when they are the exact same as on the kids menu. The kids meal was a drink plus a burger and chicken tenders for $12 each. They ate most of it but it looked poor and the bill came with the drinks added as extra. We both ordered the Nashville Cool Chicken Sandwich which was literally a very flat, clearly frozen chicken burger in a half decent bun. That was it. Plus the only thing Rosemary about the fries was probably the lady who froze them or sold them at Walmart. We had three lagers which added $24 to the bill but $117 before tip was a disgrace. Toilets were absolutely filthy as an added bonus. Too be fair it looks like a decent bar for a drink but the food is to be avoided at all costs.

Food is not good; drinks are fine

By Melanie T |

Originally, my friends and I were looking to go to Upstairs at 66 where they had games. We didn’t realize it was located upstairs at Route 66 (which makes sense when you think about it) but the game room was closed for a private event. So we decided to just sit downstairs, order some drinks (HH is 4-7) and a few apps to share since none of us were too hungry. For drinks, I stuck to the house whiskey ginger - which wasn’t bad. They don’t skimp on the alcohol, which a lot of happy hour places do, so I appreciate that. For food, we had the Cracklin’ Pork Clouds (pork rinds) - really good, especially dipped in their green sauce, Sarah’s smoked wings - salty AF; I was only able to eat one piece, the Truffle Brussels - one of their “specials” but it wasn’t special, and some regular fries - soggy and oily. I guess you don’t really come to Stone Street to eat. Stick to the drinks here and hopefully, the game room upstairs will be open when you go.

Great outdoor dinner experience!

By Chicagokmk |

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner here - refreshing beer, oysters for an appetizer, and an amazing bison burger, all in a fun outdoor setting. Great service and location!

Great to hang out, not for bbq lovers.

By katyebro17 |

Service: good Vibe: great decor and music, overall it has a really fun feel Drinks: great bourbon list and selection of craft beer. Food: all the menu options sounded delicious and the menu itself had interesting typography. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with fries. Fries were barely warm and tasted old, pulled pork was slightly dry but had good smoke flavor. Sauces provided were different? The vinegar sauce was very bland and the dark sauce might have been an unlabeled bottle of A1... Boyfriend ordered the brisket, good smoke flavor, but overall very average. Bottom line: if you're used to moist and savory regional BBQ with deeply developed flavors this isn't for you. It's average at best. If you're looking for a fun place to hang out and have a bourbon go for it!

Great steak, great place, live music

By Elena Jeffries |

Steak was amazing, beer was great, atmosphere and service were awesome. Live music is on as well. Will definitely come again. Prices are regular for NY: steak 22 dollars, combo meat 30.

Decent brisket..

By pjalb |

With as many choices as there are on Stone Street and the surrounding area, each establishment somehow differentiates itself. This little spot dies so with quick and friendly service and, well, serviceable fare. We ordered the half chicken and the brisket. Both perfectly fine, if uninspired renditions. Credit to the serving staff though, for mustering up more enthusiasm for the selections than was warranted. Perhaps worth another try, but in any case not at all bad, and decent value.

Thousand Island Dressing on Brisket??

By Charles H |

I should have known it was going to be sub average brisket. Tasted more like hot dog meat...sorry guys up your game and lose the dressing.

Ribs to die for👍🏼

By Lee W |

This place is a gem the pork Louis ribs are the best I've had and the slaw equally as good my wife had the stake and vegetables also amazing the atmosphere was great 👍🏼 an all round fantastic place!

Good bar on Stone Street

By Lisa C |

It’s one of the bars on the cozy pedestrian Stone Street. I tried their happy hour margarita and it was just average. I also tried their BBQ cauliflower and it was great.

Okay, not quite a real smokehouse meal

By Joseph E |

Located in lower Manhattan, decor and location are trendy and designed for an upscale crowd. Hence, my order of smoked brisket, while actually smoked, was not to the quality or quantity of a real smokehouse. I didn't have a high expectation, so I wasn't disappointed. Not inexpensive, the brisket platter, with five slices of brisket, will set you back $22 😞

If you know barbecue...

By brunello44 |

....Get the pulled pork sammie. They smoke on the premises here, and it shows. Pulled pork is the highest realization of the pitmaster’s art, and someone here is a serious practitioner. Lotsa good beers on-tap, warm, comfortable decor, and great 70’s R&B playing on the house system. What’s not to like? Stop in for lunch when you’re in the area; you’ll be glad ya did.

Fun place for great food, service and location

By koolkidz |

Some out-of-town friends and I were meeting for lunch in lower Manhattan because they had been sight-seeing in the area. (So much to see and do downtown!) We chose Route 66 Smokehouse on Stone Street and we were not disappointed. We had the option of inside or out and on this day we decided to eat in, but I could see the attraction of eating outside on a cobblestone street. It is covered. We were greeted and seated right away and our server (shout-out to Ben!) was very attentive, entertaining, and knowledgable about the menu and how the food was prepared. My friends enjoyed some drinks (good job bartender) and I had a beer while waiting for our order. The food was well-prepared and ample. Great BBQ. My friends had the pulled chicken and I had the brisket. The atmosphere is comfortable and the prices very reasonable. I would definitely come back.

Good food!

By leahmichaela |

We stopped here for lunch and just grabbed some apertizers. The service was quick and they food was really good. Only downside was it was really cold inside! We were sat upstairs with not many other people, but it did make us want to rush to leave a bit, which was a shame.

Recommended!

By Riccardo17 |

Me and my girlfriend had a dinner here. It has been a beautiful experience, great burgers and great beer! Nice and kind staff, recommended !!

Not as expected

By CheshireLady |

We have been to various smokehouse/BBQs around the States and this was not as we expected. It was quiet but the service was sporadic (drinks took ages to come out as the bar man was chatting and could not multitask). We thought it was expensive for what we received, even by Stone St prices.

Great lunch

By BebeNewYork |

Our lunch came quickly and was hot. Server very friendly and polite. They charge 3.75 for a soda, which is kind of outrageous even in NYC. Overall good experience. Would eat here again.

Slow!

By Garrett G |

We stopped there while on a walking tour and were given an hour to eat. We ordered as soon as we sat down and never got our food. They were so slow and never even came back to check on us. We had to walk up and ask about our food. We ended up leaving and having 5 min left to eat at a pizza restaurant. I would not recommend due to service.

St Patrick's Day food and drinks

By Ashley |

Visited here on St Patrick's day, the whole street was full of people celebrating! Myself and my girlfriend tried a load of bars for food but all were full! The waitress at this bar told us there was an upstairs with a bar service where you could order food! It was perfect for a chilled place to drink and eat! There were plenty of areas to sit or stand with friends! The food was 6/10 but the bar was extremely busy! My only criticism would be the staff were too busy for their own good, making everything a little slow! Other than that we had a great night and will visit again!

Happy Hour

By tml8882 |

Great Happy Hour & the sparking Rose is delicious. The wings, fried green tomatoes, and sliders were great. Would come back again !

Wouldn't go back

By herebedragons |

Pulled pork sandwiches were a bit fatty, didn't taste of much, the fries were quite good. Friendly service.

Great night out

By Thesecretdiner |

Had a great night out with friends and family here. Food was excellent, drinks were good but a little pricy (but then it is wall street!) good atmosphere and very helpful friendly staff. If your in the downtown Wall St area its well worth a visit.

Just stopped in got drinks

By QueenJamie99 |

We stopped in for drinks the day after Christmas as we were wandering around the city. The drinks were amazing!! I would totally recommend stopping in to hang out and having a few!

Great bar, great staff!

By Diego C |

Always come here when in NY. It helps that my office is less than a minute away of course, but you get a great welcome from the lovely staff, you have a broad choice of beer on tap, and the food is good. It's particularly enjoyable when the weather is nice and you can sit outside. Is a mainstay of my visits here!

Average experience

By Robert S |

Burger that my wife had was great and my pork ribs were not. They were rather dry and a total let down. Waitress was rather amazing, I’d rate her 5 stars and 2 stars for food.

THE ABOMINATION OF ROUTE 66 (The movie)

By Jemma R |

Where do I start? Maybe with the expensive bill I received the following day for some ferociously soiled undergarments? Or perhaps the mystifying manoeuvre of covering chicken wings in burnt cinnamon? Maybe I’ll start from the beginning. From whence it all began. You know that feeling you get when you wake up after a night you can barely remember? A night from which the last thing you remember was a phone call from you bank confirming a ridiculous beer-fuelled transaction that even your bank thinks is a joke. Well, I hope that sets the scene. We awoke, puzzled, confused but most importantly, RAVENOUS. We did the only sensible thing. Googled “amazing bbq food near me”. To my unbridled delight we were not 3 minutes (on foot) from this pre-googled “Nirvana”. In we walked. Here we were. Nobody else there which was the first “red flag” but alas, we were now “waitress committed” “Where would you like to sit?” She said. Aghast at the fact every single seat was available I whimpered “a window seat please”. “Sure thing” was the overly confident retort. Down we sat. I looked around wondering where our other hungover brethren should surely be. Not a soul. An overwhelming feeling of concern flowed through my hungry veins. The menus arrived. It was “go-time”. We ordered pretty much everything on the menu and a pitcher of frozen(solid) sangria. Eventually some rotten lettuce arrived. Atop the lettuce- burnt, over cooked chicken wings smothered in burnt and confused cinnamon. I went in head-first. Foolish perhaps but fully committed with gay abandon. Nanoseconds later I was awash with blinding regret. Not only my mouth, but my entire face puckered up like dried fruit. It was time to move on to main event. First up - freshly microwaved frozen Mac n cheese. Hotter than the surface of a neutron star on the outside, colder than the cold, lonely desolate openness of deep space on the inside. A harrowing journey for my mouth from start to finish. Surely akin to chapter from one of Bear Grylls latest books on desolate and unforgiving areas of earth. Next up - 16 hour home-smoked ribs... well - if your home is the fiery depths of hell then here you go. Burnt. Overcooked. Dry. Unbearable and just really not a nice place to be whatsoever. On entering my mouth I was adored with childhood flashbacks of Wimpy, however, this unfortunately, was no Wimpy. This was real life. A life which has never so closely resembled hell. Finally we moved onto the “Chicken Strips”. To be honest, I only wish the chickens really did strip as there was a feather still poking through their “mamas special batter”. Now, I can only assume that “mama” died long long ago and they scattered her ashes into a pan full of leftovers and accidentally labelled it up as “chicken strip batter”. Poor mama would be violently spinning in grave if she knew how horrifically her name has been besmirched by these heathens. I was going to say the only good thing was the frozen Margarita. However, I spent more time ladling wooden spoonfuls of frozen chunks of margarita into my mouth than I did masking my contempt for this putrid excuse for an establishment. You should be ashamed for the fact you thought it was ok to finish me off with your unacceptable bill of $140. And then asking for a tip half way through the meal because you were about to finish your shift. The one positive to be taken from this was the waitress. Lovely girl, very pleasant, but obviously completely and blissfully unaware of the blatant inability of her fellow staff to even be able to reheat frozen food. Summary. I wish Trip Advisor had a “zero stars” option. Or My phone had no battery on fateful google search.

Lovely food

By richr1979 |

Great food, great location and very friendly and efficient staff. We enjoyed our meal and would visit again.

Food was disappointing

By j0nes81 |

Stopped for dinner and live music. Bands play at 9:00 Thursday thru Saturday with no cover charge. The food looked good but didn't have the smokey flavor needed for barbeque.

Dining bubble + Great food!

By Brian P |

I booked a mini bubble for my husband's & niece's joint birthdays via Resy. Easy breezy. Upon arrival we were seated at a cute mini bubble on the Pearl Street side. Admittedly Pearl is not as cute as Stone Street, but the bubbles are just as lovely. During the 1st two weeks of Feb, the mini bubbles are called Love bubbles and decorated very romantically which was cute. Our waiter was great! He was super attentive, professional, & friendly. The dinner was without a hitch and beautiful. Both my companions had a great time! We ate & drank a ton - everything was really quite delicious. Tbh I was pleasantly surprised at the high level of food & drink. At the end, the waiter plus a few servers came out with desserts, 2 of which had large sparklers for my birthday duo, which was AMAZING! I never would have made this rez if not for their personal bubbles, but now I know of this restaurant, I'm excited to have it on my list of fun places to go & look forward to our next visit. THANKS!

Tourist Trap BBQ

By vacationaddictnyc |

Unfortunately, this is not an unfamiliar scenario for barbeque places in NYC that to tend to last. They are usually mediocre chain restaurants with a large tourist trade since one visit will do it. First, overpriced cocktails, since they have no evidence of having any alcohol content, the price is too high for just sweet mixers. The very spicy meat chili app we ordered should have come with a bucket of sour cream to make it edible. Both the smoked brisket and pulled pork were an embarrassment. That doesn't leave much. Finally, the service is very slow for anything other than the initial order items.

USA Womens Soccer Final

By Barbara G |

Loved the spot we had to watch the game. Staff are 100% helpful. Buffalo burger was a hit, pork ribs tasty, and chicken strips enjoyed by all.

Ribs! Yummy!

By Susan D |

We checked out all the establishments on Stone Street on Saturday night, and Route 66 Roadhouse caught our fancy. It was a little chilly so we opted to sit inside, but they have great outdoor seating too. (Stone Street is awesome- just go). We could not believe we were in Manhattan, the atmosphere was fun and casual and friendly. We thought the ribs were awesome, it was a spicy dry rub, not the bottled kind. I chose the St Louis cut and the ribs were huge and meaty. The sides were great also. There is a very large selection of beer, plus mixed cocktails and wine available. Around 8:30 there was a jazz trio preforming, very talented. No pressure to order extra drinks. If you want a relaxing Saturday night try it here.

Nice food

By tinks007 |

Visited here whilst staying in NYC The seating area outside is a nice touch however a few of the other bars/restaurants also shared the same area so was noisy and felt cramped. Took a while for our drink and food orders to be taken(not too sure if they forgot about us as we were sat outside) Good selection of beers on the happy hour & they were served in a mason jar lovely quirky little touch. The food was lovely, couldn't complain. We also popped for a drink a few days later & say inside, wow the decor was fab. Seemed vintage which is a constant to the modern metropolis outside. Also loved the vintage sinks in the rest rooms

Eh...

By rockstar89 |

First of all...no smoke scent when you enter. That’s a big question mark for me. If you are smoking on the premises regularly there should be some residual goodness even if you aren’t pumping it out right at that time. I was one of the only ones in the whole place so I sat at the bar. Barkeep was sweet, but obviously a thousand miles away. She recommended the smoked wings which I got. They were fine, but nothing to write home about. The fries were the leftover end pieces, they didn’t even bother to make a few new ones for me. Was it bad? No. Was it good? It was fine, but that was it.

Wow!!

By kdeweese22 |

My boyfriend and I were staying in the financial district, so this was a close walk. The outdoor seating seemed really nice, but was crowded when we went. The pulled pork & the brisket were both delicious. Reasonably priced for great service and food. I would definitely go back! The picture is of the alleyway where the restaurants all have outdoor seating.

I have had some good burgers on Stone Street on previous trips to New York and always find myself returning. Particularly nice on a summer's afternoon. Several restaurant options but this time I had the pulled pork sandwich from the Route66 Smokehouse with a cider to round it off. The food was good and at reasonable price (particularly for NY). I enjoyed the relaxed and unassuming atmosphere, which is a nice surprise given its location just off Wall street.

I remembered him better...

By Smallsaints |

Local that opens the picturesque Stone Street of NY and where we have stopped other times in the past. We decided to go back remembering that we had a great hamburger a few years ago; this time we took a break with nachos, chicken wings, chips and some beers. The quality seemed to me to be inferior to the past, which is not justified by prices which, given the area, are also quite high. Also on beers I think that the place should invest in a more frequent rotation of the offer; net of the fact that the Pint Service was not the best and the glasses were not rinsed very well (you can also see in the picture), I had the opportunity to check online that many labels have been present for years when maybe, in a place with such a high number of people, it would not be bad to combine some surprises (which maybe is done frequently and I was unlucky). But the focus on tapping nowadays should be maximum, especially in cities like NY, among the capitals of modern beer. Excellent Service, an Irish gentleman entertained us with a little chat when he gave us the table and the girl who provided for us was very smart and attentive to our, albeit simple, requests. Worth a visit but I remembered a place with superior quality. I don't know if it's a wrong memory or if the whole thing has really dropped a bit.

Overcooked food

By VSPE |

I stopped during lunch time with my son on our trip to NYC. The place have very good outdoor sitting area. Place was crowded, but within reasonable level. The Texas style ribs came totally overcooked and partially burned. My Carolina style burger did not came from Carolina as well. Meat was dry and overcooked. Service was good and friendly. The price would be reasonable if food was good. Expressed our complain to waiter and he apologized.

Nice outside venue

Good place to relax with food and drinks after a busy Wall Street visit. Relaxing atmosphere and reasonably good food.

Good Ribs

By Gary C |

Sat outside of Route 66 on a pleasant night the street and the venue were buzzing. The staff did very well and most helpful. 8 of us dining and all enjoyed the food especially the Texas Beef Ribs and the Smoked Lamb Ribs. Would certainly go back if in New York

Popular after work café

By Jelle W |

This place is popular to meet people after work. Nice for a drink and a meal. We had the Angus Burger, € 16, all right. You can personalise your Burger. And the IPA Beer $ 8 is perfect!

NICE PLACE FOR A PLEASANT EVENING, FOOD NOT EXCITING

By LISALITE |

I expected a more exciting dish of pork ribs for my first dinner in NYC. They came plain, with no sides (I had to buy French Fries) and were dry. Prices are very good for the place that is elegant and well attended, located in the heart of the Financial District. Excellent service.

Ribs from the Pit

By LabRat_2255 |

We were walking in the area with friends and stopped to have some drinks. For food we ordered Texas Style Beef Ribs (full size for $28) from their "From the Pit" menu. The smokehouse appears to be a relatively new place which was opened in 2013. The ribs were quite good and, along with the side dish, the portion was big enough to accompany drinks for four persons. Drinks were expensive however. The service was not fast. In general we were satisfied, but it was certainly not a bargain.

Average

By Davide F |

Been there with my girlfriend in a NYC summer visit. The location is friendly and it is good to have a dinner outside. Nonetheless, the choice if the food is poor and the service is not that professional. Beer list is poor as well.

Nice surroundings and good food

By Anton L |

We had a little dinner snack here. My wife had the burger and I had the chicken wings. The food was good and enjoyable. The service was excellent and we really enjoyed the place. Will come back again.

Terrible food

By Chris A |

I was in the the usa for 2 weeks. This was the worst meal I had. Most likely the worst foid ever. I could managed a month full. I told the member of staff that it was really greasy and was not nice and he did not care. I would advise for no one to eat here

Decent food

By P F B |

The menu is somewhat limited to mostly burgers, sandwiches, appetizers, finger food and a couple of entrees. There are also daily specials. Decent craft beer selection. Casual atmosphere with lots of wood decor. The service was OK the bartender greeted me with menu right away then disappeared before I could order a beer - so once she did reappear, I ordered beer and my sandwich right away. Very good beef brisket sandwich which came with a good portion of fresh cuts fries. The sauces aren't marked, but the bartender did take the time to describe them. All in all - a decent meal at reasonable prices considering this is in NYC.

Horrible service and food

By M O |

Waitress was rude and useless, asked for a water 4 times over the span of 20 minutes before finally getting one, finally got the water as my food was basically done. Same thing with ketchup, i kept asking nicely for it and never saw the ketchup. The food itself was also horrible. Gave a very small tip for the lack of service and on my bank statement it seems like it was doubled. I don’t usually write reviews but this place sucked, don’t go here

In the mood for ribs

By leslee g |

Went to Route 66 on a Saturday night, several hours before closing time, and the restaurant already ran out of pork ribs and several of their beer selections. We should have left at that point. I ordered a pulled pork "Sandwich". It was actually open- faced (1/2 roll with pork on top). The bread was completely mushy, the pork was bland. I ordered the crispy onions as my side. There were no onions in the crispy and they were cold, not even luke-warm. If you want BBQ, don't bother.

Surprisingly good

By Dana S |

On a cold, rainy day in late May, we went to Stone Street for dinner because I've been wanting to go for years. Needless to say, no one was sitting at the outdoor tables. We perused the menus of all the restaurants and decided on Route 66. The waiter was very friendly and helpful. We ordered combo dinners with pork and beef ribs, brisket, and chicken. All were very good (not as good as mine, of course). We also ordered the Duck Confit Salad, which was also very good. The Mac n' cheese with truffles were plentiful and too die for. The only sour note was the sweet potato fries, which were overdone. Because we had plenty of other food, I didn't send them back. A great place for food and the staff are friendly and very accommodating. You'll enjoy the visit.

Great fun

By Kate K |

Great fun place ! Lots of games and good food x very good service - table tennis, giant cards, beer pong and shove happens…

Don't ever go!!! Run the other direction

By kristy m |

This is the worst restaurant in NYC. The food made every one of us sick. It wasn't even editable. Our waitress was friendly but clueless. Even asking for basic items required a 20 minute wait. Worst part - everyone from our table is sick! Skip his place. It's awful. Save your sanity and your health. McDonald's and Burger King have way more to offer.

Awesome food and service!

By Rachel V |

Came across this place while in the area with my family and was pleasantly surprised! It's on a really cute classic New York cobblestone block. We all enjoyed our meals and they were very attentive and considerate of my daughters allergies. Perfect place for lunch, dinner or drinks! Emma our waitress was sweet and very helpful! Would definitely go back!

Those beef ribs!!!!! Amaze

By Mericher G |

Came here whilst in NY for my husbands surprise birthday trip. WE LOOOOOOOVED IT!!! So much so that we went back the next evening. The beef ribs are AMAZE!!! We defo recommend them to anyone going. The portions were enough to share should you want or should you not be hungry and want to keep it semi light. Sweet potato fries were also amaze! They didn't look like they were precut from the freezer lol (yup I notice these things lool, but then again who knows). Now back to the meat, it was sooo succulent and the flavours so amazingly perfect. No BBQ place in London even comes close to this place. The meat literally fell off the bone and was perfectly smoked without being dry. The waitress who had a dog named London was lovely (sorry I can't remember your name), she pleasantly greeted us and had a really good convo and a laugh with us making us feel right at home, and even came over to us the next night we were there to say hi. I personally say don't delay trying this place out, a true gem for us right behind our hotel. Will DEFO go back should we be in the NY financial district.

Great spot for lunch

By Rebecca S |

We had lunch here on a Saturday. Great options for seating outside. I had the kale caesar salad and my boyfriend had the chicken sandwich. Service was good, knowledgeable. Would recommend.

Fantastic Pork Ribs!

By scbeachblonde |

Slow-cooked pork ribs, big, juicy and tender, so delicious! served with 2 side sauces; a thick sweet red sauce, and a thin vinegar and pepper sauce, PeeDee style. The ribs don't need the sauce at all, but it's fun for dipping. These are in the top 5 favorite ribs of my time. And I love ribs.

Great Afterwork Place

By NYSheDevil |

I visited this restaurant for an early dinner with a co-worker/friend. We had reservations which was good because they were already busy. We were seated quickly and I noticed that the table had a "reserved" sign on it. The menu has only 2 types of frozen drinks. I orders a frozen whisky sour. I enjoyed it. For dinner, I had the fried chicken sandwich with French fries. The food came fairly quickly. The only wait we had was for the wait staff to come over and take our drink order, but that wasn't too bad considering they were busy. I liked the sandwich - not the best I've had - but I wouldn't mind trying it again. The fries were hot and crispy. Overall, I liked the restaurant and I would visit again.

BBQ in NY City worth it

By Rgf49er |

Brisket, Memphis style sauce, a NY style blue moon and carrot cake. Wow great meal. Another great stone St restaurant and I will be back again.

Route 66 smokehouse

By platpeeps |

We found this place on the way back into Manhattan from a trip on the ferry to Staten Island (the free one!). We were on our way to the start point for a guided walk, and suddenly came across this. The area looked very busy, and the menu options looked interesting so we went in. We had a drink sitting at one of the tables outside, whilst we made up our minds where we went to eat and then went inside. Really enjoyed our meal - I had their delicious smokey barbecue chicken wings, which were delicious. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff and service was very good. Sat at a window table, so we could watch the world go by outside whilst enjoying our meal. Would definitely go back here - if we could find it again!

Went for lunch

By Jan L |

After getting off the ferry from going to the Statue of Liberty we stopped at this BBQ place for a late lunch. Environment nice but somewhat pricy. Food was good but service was very slow and we were the only ones in there.

Mac and cheese

By tinaaustin |

I love macaroni and cheese. I eat it every chance I get. I really enjoyed the mac and cheese offered here it was creamy and full of meat which made for a good meal. The other thing about this place is that it is family friendly. That was quite hard to find after we had finished sightseeing in the area. I definitely would go here again! I'm drooling just thinking about that mac and cheese.

Great Burger and Service

By dkmercedes |

Sat outside for lunch. The angus burger was awesome on a toasted brioche bun. Fries great too. All the restaurants had outside seating and the weather was perfect.

Good BBQ in the big apple

By Skippounet |

Was in New York for a few days, went 2 nights in a row The Brisket is excellent, mac & cheese with mushroom also excellent Good choice of beer The second night we had pulled pork sliders and ribs St-Louis style also excellent. Staff is friendly and efficient. In the financial district

Nice place

By Jojo581 |

Was looking for a place in the Stone Street area and my phone died so I couldn't search tripadvisor! Walked by this place and the menu looked interesting so we wanted to try. Nice atmosphere. Took a while for us to get a menu, but when we did the waiter was friendly and helpful. If you go here you MUST have the brisket sandwich. Best brisket we've ever had. The other meals our party ordered were alright but this brisket sandwich was life changing!!

Good meal!

By LandJNYUK |

Party of 12- none of us easily pleased. Most had the pulled pork which we ALL loved. Really enjoyed the jalapeño cornbread and the grits also. Brisket platters were small but tasty and the chocolate chip cookie is a MUST for dessert but share it!

REAL BBQ

By David W |

Great barbecue food. All of the ribs & pulled meat was tender & delicious. You can tell that the chef & his crew took their time cooking the food correctly with skill & expertise. The mac & cheese is TO DIE FOR!!!! Maybe the best I've ever had! Great looking place with a fun Texas theme. Stop by next time you're down by Stone Street or South Street Seaport.

A Stone Street must

By DavidHowell0194 |

From the UK visiting some friends who live in NY and my mate from Boston. I didn’t know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. Mario are waiter was very helpful with the food choices and American crafted beers. Portions were a good size and very, very tasty. I had the Sliced Brisket, slaw and pickled jalapeno. I can still taste it two weeks later Yum! Recommended

Drinks were Good

By KevinL41872 |

Went in the Smokehouse for drinks with colleagues. The atmosphere was dark and music was loud but fine for a bar/pub in a historical district in the financial district. Bartenders were not very attentive but drinks were good. I would go back for food to see how it stacks up against other smokehouses I have tried.

Good Burger

By judybrown100 |

We picked this restaurant for a simple meal (hamburger and salad) and were quite happy with our choice. Service was good, the salad was tasty, and the burger was filling. Prices were expensive for the meal but no more that their competitors. When you are in NYC, all dining is more expensive.

Hidden Gem

By Luke D |

We were visiting the states on my first visit and Im a really big fan of Barbecue. I had tried to look for places to eat but ran out of time. We had just walked from Battery Park to start heading up town when we stumbled across this lovely place. We got there just before 5 and it was still quiet. Food came quickly, the service was great. The best Barbecue I have had. The chap clearing tables didn't understand what we were saying when we asked for a refill on a drink but apart from that, we had no problems at all! Would highly recommend if you're in the area.

Okay food, slow service

By Penboy7 |

I've visited this place a couple of times, since it was empty during the lunch rush. The servers are friendly and the pub-fare is decent, but on all occasions the food was just adequate and the service was incredibly slow. I prefer Dublin across the street; same type of food and much, much faster.

not impressed

By Vacationer227936 |

The sweet potato fries were dry. The bison burger was spicy, crispy and dry. Unimpressive bun. Great reusable, plastic doggy container

No beer here

By JogNy |

This street in lower Manhattan has a bunch of restaurants that have outdoor seating areas under tents. Irish, German, others. In the evening, after work, or whenever, it has a real Oktoberfest feel. We chose this one, poorly. We waited a long time for service and food. Every time we ordered a beer, the waitress came back and told us they were out of it. She didn't seem to care much, either. While every other restaurant seemed to be serving large, sometimes liter-sized beers, ours were puny by comparison. The food was mostly bland and uninteresting. Several times the staff came by to remove plates that we hadn't yet finished. Don't eat here, not while there are so many other choices on the same block.

A nice place to have dinner outside

By 3BC12 |

I had fear when I enterred this place, because there was too much noise and the place was too dark. But the waitor brought us in the narrow street on the back. The atmosphere was very good. For this restaurant, I recommend you the burgers, there are delicious and big enough.

1 of 3 smoke meat ok.

By Denis D |

Had the route66 triple combo: - pork was dry covered by sauce maybe come later but it was like this was sitting and reheated - brisket was tasty and moist - beef was ok. Nothing exceptional place didn’t smell like a smokehouse which is concerning if you smoke in-house. Atmosphere was roadhouse style so good there. This would be 2 star but the server was excellent and made this a 3 star. Sorry not quality of meat I expect to find in a place that’s calls themselves a smoke house.

Watching the baseball playoffs

By MKay |

We met up with a friend while visiting Manhattan to watch the playoffs. Our bartenders, Malachy, no Dylan, no Phillip! and Melonie were attentive and entertaining, even though were quite busy. I can't speak to the Que, but the buffalo cauliflower app was great. The upstairs bar has a ping pong table, and looked like fun, too. Patrons were friendly, and we had good time.

Not a good food

By munkam6262 |

We choose this restaurant becouse a nice waiter at the door but at the end off the day when ribs where to much grilled and dry and my wifes salad chicken was almoust not eatible how dry and hard it was. So acctually only one good thing was an irish waiter at the door :).

Great nachos and beer änna

By Fredrik S |

Tried the Route 66 nachos and the Saratoga Ipa. Really good combo. Good service, quick and friendly. Highly recommend it.

Nice BBQ brisket let it down

By Ross K |

We came here as a group of 4 and were really happy as we walked through the door as the atmosphere and decor were really good. We ordered a range of starters and all dug in, theses were lovely. My brother in law and I ordered the meat platter and we lived it. The girls however ordered the brisket and it was very fatty which let it down. Our waitress was also the most miserable of our 7 days in NYC, I guess it had been a long shift!

Cute place in FiDi

By KT H |

Route 66 was cute! Picked this place for our team lunch and we were pleased with the food however the service was subpar...though we were a big group (10 total), we waited close to 10mins for our drinks (reg beverages) and when one of the party members asked for more sauce, the waitress said she would bring it but never did (and no, the restaurant was not super busy...None the less, the food & music was good but the service should be a bit better...

Nice place but very quiet - not much going on

By James W |

The beer, food and service was very good. Craft beers - all very good - smoked half chicken and fries fro supper and the service was prompt and good. Just that it was quiet and not much atmosphere. The chicken tasted smoked - just as advertised and the helping was large.

great late night snack

By jlip2017 |

one of the FEW Pearl st/ Stone st restaurants opened late on Sunday night...an excellent find! Love the location. Three satisfied sandwich eaters...good selection and gluten-free options. Very pleasant. (speed? price? hay, it's NYC...what do you expect?)

Good food, good staff

By Alfredo N |

We just visited the place, in general food was good ( we ordered Angus burgers and nachos). Service was fine, but they lost a bit the cadence at some point, but all in all it was ok.

Great ribs

By Mazmannan |

I went to the Route 66 Smokehouse for dinner with a friend. The decor is lovely and gives you a homely feel. We sat indoors as it was a bit windy. There is seating outside - but there are other nearby restaurants which also have seating outside - so you should bear in mind that you will be in company of other restaurant's diners. I ordered the beef ribs - and my friend ordered a burger. Both dishes arrived within twenty minutes. I was impressed with the ribs. They had lots of flavour, and tasted delicious. The meat was so tender that it almost fell off the bone. I enjoyed my food. My friend said the burger was juicy and delicious. If I am in the area again - I will definitely visit the Route 66 Smokehouse.

Food very disappointing for NYC

By Scarboro29 |

I thought this would be American authentic good food, the place looked great from outside and inside. I asked the waitress for recommendation of the food. She suggested the pulled pork burger, I was really looking forward to it. But it was tasteless and really greasy.. I thought I was going to be sick so I left most of it. Fries were just ok. Wish I had gone to the nice cafe at the end of the street instead. I did notice that I was the ONLY ONE eating in here, everyone else was just using it as a bar. I didn’t even like my none alcoholic drink as it had a weird after taste. How this place stays open serving food and drink like this I don’t know. Shame as it is a nice building.

Fantastic BBQ place in the financial district

By joyce03_11 |

Since our hotel was located in the financial district, we were on the look out for some good food nearby. We stumbled over the Route 66 smokehouse and LOVED the atmosphere outside at night. Busy, with small lights everywhere and buzzing and young guests. We had the ribs and brisket with coleslaw and it was so good!! The meat was tender and the ribs fell off the bones. They were big too with lots of meat on them!! Loved the food, loved the atmosphere, loved the waitress and the prices arent too bad either. Thank you!

Good shelter from the rain.

By David R |

After spending the morning walking about in the rain we stopped here for lunch. The nachos were a bit spicy, for me, but my partner found them to her liking. Good selection of beer.

BBQ was good but fries disappointing

By Mac D |

Had the Brisket sandwich and my son had the Po Bo. Both were good but the fries were disappointing. Service was good.

Good BBQ for a Yankee state.

By FDfoodie |

Fist off, the staff was very accommodating. We had 9 in our party just show up and want to eat at 7:00 pm on a Friday night, no reservations. The manager and staff sat us together no problem with little wait. The menu was decent, the drinks were reasonable and the food was tasty, especially for a NYC BBQ restaurant. We all were satisfied and had a good time. We would all return in a heartbeat.

Disconnection between server and food

By Owlietakesflight |

Party of three selected this restaurants for a birthday celebration. Initially things were fine;however as the restaurant crowd increased, our service declined. The food had good flavor but the brisket served was extremely dry. They offered to replace the meal, and we accepted, but upon waiting for the replacement dish, we were full and it became a "to go" box. Overall the food was good and would have been better if the brisket was served moist,

What was I thinking

By Rick W |

The ribs I was served were barely edible. Nice place, nice waitress. Avoid the bbq unless you know absolutely nothing about bbq. Burger was good. Good beer selection as well.

Food great, staff not so much

By Ttreats |

While my Pulled Pork Sandwich had great flavor, I was really happy I'd ordered chips and onion dip as my appetizer, so I at least had something to eat. The restaurant wasn't busy for a Tuesday night, but it took 20 minutes between the time the appetizer was delivered to the table and the waitress returned to take our dinner order. The best example of the inattentive staff was a man standing on his high dining chair for a full 5 minutes trying to plug his cellphone into an outlet in the ceiling. The guy was leaning on the front window jumping up and down on his chair and NO ONE at the restaurant approached him. All his friends at the table had cell phones in hand to catch the outcome for social media. Can't I just have a nice dinner with good service and no side show?

Great stop to eat on Stone Street

By Ljmscope |

The food was clean and delicious. I had a brisket sandwich with red slaw and a salad. My husband had an oyster po'boy with fries and my son had a pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries -Yum! The drinks were served in small mason jars. We ate outside on picnic tables. The service was great, friendly and the food came out quickly. Stop and enjoy a moment on Stone Street.

Good first time, not so much second time

By dl2911 |

Visited NYC last week and came here for dinner. Food was amazing, had pulled pirk burger and sweet potato fries and my boyfriend had brisket and chips. All the food was so nice and the service from the waitress and waiter was great (sorry didnt get their names, waiter from Ireland and waitress had dark curlyish hair) however on second visit we just wanted drinks, we grabbed a table and were served by a different waiter. We asked what beers were on as the menu has a rolling menu and changes all the time, it took the waiter a while to find out was on so we ordered a sharer cocktail while he found out the beers for my parents, when he came back my parents asked for a wheat beer and he came back with 2 IPA beers. Service was poor and slow on second visit and that was a Wednesday night. First night was a Sunday and a lot better. From England so not sure if the busy days are different in the USA!

Amazing Fun Staff

By Pam T |

We where strolling down the street - trying to decide where to eat and Ronan came out to greet us.....and was fun - so we did our loop and decided to spend lunch with the gang at Route 66 Smokehouse....Mario was our wonderful waiter - and he doesn't even have a brother named luigi ....don't let him fool you!! PS.....try those frozen Rose wine Drinks for sure ....come on your are going to walk it off....and best Mac and Cheese anywhere

Tender and tasty

By vFNG |

My husband had the smoked brisket platter, tender, juicy, delicious au jus. No heavy BBQ sauces smothering the meat, though there were squeeze bottles of extra BBQ sauces if wanted. The side coleslaw had excellent flavor, not too much mayonnaise. His Chardonnay wine was very good. I had the fried oysters plate, which were moist and delicious, not overbreaded. We visit NYC 3-4 times a year in Lower Manhattan and have tried many restaurants in the area. We would visit Route 66 again gladly!

Great Saturday night jazz ams the best service

By Andie W |

This place had a great jazz quartet playing on Saturday night. The smoked wings were the best we had ever tried. The fries green tomatoes and the brisket were top notch. The service was outstanding. Very friendly and efficient. Try a frozen hurricane! A very boozy slushy :)

Great place to hangout and grab a drink

By Nez D |

The staff is outstanding. Very good place to hangout, grab a few beers, and a grab a bite. The food is tasty but we always go here after work for a couple drinks. The bar area has plenty of space so you never feel claustrophobic.

Very disappointing "unsmoked" cold brisket

By Hoda S |

We stopped for lunch at this nice looking place which is supposed to serve smoked brisket and we assumed that since it's called 'smokehouse' that it would be really smoked. I ordered the brisket sandwich and my husband ordered the meal while my son ordered the burger. All our food came cold and no taste of it being smoked brisket yet more like a cold roast. Even the fries were cold. We sent the two brisket orders back to be warmed and they came back barely warm. Seems they put the sandwich in an oven to warm so the bread warmed and dried up yet the meat stayed cold. I told the waiter that the food was bad yet he did nothing about it. He saw that I hadn't eaten more than half the sandwich and barely any fries yet couldn't care less. I find this kind of service as unacceptable for a place that was not considered inexpensive. My husband said the hot dogs on the street were much better than this meal!!!

Great spot in a lively area

By KAF0460 |

Excellent spot for dinner and rinks. Friendly and swift service plus tasty grub! Recommended to anyone in the area

Fabulous food and service

By Natalie B |

We ate here because of recommendations and it's accessibility to our hotel. It was fabulous! The food and the ambience were brilliant. We were there late in the evening and the service was excellent. Special thanks to Ben for his wonderful service and chat. He helped make the night fun.

Pretty average

By Graham B |

Was pretty hungry and fancied trying some american style smoke/grill house. Route 66 was the closest and was quite nice inside. Service was alright but the food was just average. Needs a bit more to stand out from the multitude of similar restaurants out there. I had tried the pulled pork and had a couple of beers. Nice beers though but jam jars are a bit odd to drink from.

Great comfort food

By oreisl |

We went in for lunch after visiting the One World Observatory as we loved the sound of the menu and we weren't disappointed. It was almost empty with just a few other diners so we had our pick of tables. Our server was really friendly & efficient. My husband chose the Angus burger with fries and I had the fried chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. They both came on really lovely buns that had taken on the flavour of the meat, so were not boring and dry as is often the case. The meat was tender and tasty and the fries were really crispy. We didn't really have room but managed to force down some salted caramel bread pudding which was nice but would have been better with some cream or ice cream. The food plus a beer and a really lovely lemonade came to $62.06. Great place for a relaxing meal.

Great place for ribs

By mrstats69 |

My co-workers and I were walking around Stone street on a cold, wet evening, and came upon this restaurant and decided to give it a try. Without reservations, we were still able to get a table for 4 in the corner. From looking at their menu, it was obvious they were known for their ribs so most of us order several different types. They were all very tasty with lots of different sauces to choose from. Prices were reasonable for NYC and the service was good and very friendly. Good pick.

Lovely bar

By E17fella |

Popped in for a beer after a day sightseeing in Manhattan. Lovely place, friendly waitress, great beer. Had a plate of nachos to "snack on". The plate was huge and very delicious.

Good pub and food

By J Lowe |

We stumbled across this place after having a helicopter tour. As it was happy hour we took advantage of the beer and margarita offers. We decided to stay on and eat. The pulled pork burger was great. Service was good and left happy customers.

Good service tasty food

By DavinC |

Good food we had pork clouds, and then pulled pork for main. Food was tasty and pork tender. Had a couple of cocktails they were delicious as well. Waiter and service in general was excellent.

Just happened by and we all liked the food and service

By o_lynne |

Nice bar atmosphere with really great service and good food. We had brisket which we really liked.....almost as good as moms. And ribs with a super rub. Our waiter was very nice and efficient. We would go back. Stone street is fun!

Good but not great

By dksmith_york |

This bar has a good feel and I was excited for the barbecue food. However overall I was left a bit disappointed. The brisket was outstanding - soft and tender. However, the dry rub on the ribs wasn't my favourite and they were somewhat chewy - a toothpick would have been handy. Sides and sauces were good but not exceptional. Portions were very generous indeed. The service was very hit and miss - a little slow and it took some time to get the bill. But it was busy and the servers were always warm, helpful and friendly. Overall it felt more like a pub that happened to do barbecue food than a place which was leading with its food, but has the potential to be great.

Great Ribs and warm cookie dessert. Ummmm

By tbikerman |

I am impressed by how good the ribs are at Rt. 66 Smokehouse. First of all, they are HUGE. There are only 4 to an order, but that is more than enough. The dry rub is excellent and there is real smoke flavor in the meat. And the chowchow that comes with the ribs is great too. The sides are good, but I found the kale to be rather salty. The salad was excellent. For dessert they have a chocolate chip cookie that is baked to order and comes in a mini cast iron skillet. It was very decadent and good! (I would suggest that you tell the waitress you want it "well done" as it wasn't quite cooked in the middle. Luckily the pan was still hot enough that I could get it cooked a little more by spreading it out on the sides of the pan, but not totally. But cookie dough is good all by itself, right?) The service is good and they have a large selection of draught beers to choose from. I found their "home brew" which is made for them to be excellent. It is a haul to get here from just about anywhere in NYC, but in the summer, when they have the tables outside and the weather is nice, this would be awesome!

December Lunch in a Heated Bubble on Pearl Street - Fun!

By NewfiePupLover |

We had lunch at Route 66 and were seated outside in a heated bubble which was super fun! The service and food was very good, and the environment of Pearl Street is hard to beat. One of the oldest still-in-use areas of Manhattan with several other bars and restaurants all along the street; close to Wall Street, Battery Park, etc. I'd like to return without kids and just enjoy the bar and atmosphere on a summer night sometime!

Killer Food

Met our nephew and his girlfriend here for dinner. We know the executive chef, so we wanted to try this out while we were in NYC. OMG was totally in the zone for this restaurant. Everything we ate was amazing and we tried just about everything on the menu. If I had more room, I probably would have gone back for seconds. This joint has outside seating, but it was raining that night. Want to return on a sunny day and eat outside. It looked like a fun place. My nephew said this place is verrrrrry popular with the 20something group. A great place to be for happy hour.

Nice Steaks

We visited this place as a party of six and were not disappointed. The pub was very lively and had a good atmosphere. They have a very good menu for both food and drink. The price of the food and drink was about on par for New York but unlike another pub I reviewed on Stone Street (And this pub is on Stone Street not Pearl Street) this is definitely worth a visit. Four of our party had the steak and all were done as requested. The other two had the half smoked chicken - not for the faint hearted as there is some eating in this dish. The staff were very friendly and infomative. If you are in the area - give it a go.
