Great food and hospitality

By Dennis Bernstein |

if you're in Manhattan and want a steak, you've come to the right place. Old school feel (get a booth if you can) and service, I had the wedge and bone-in ribeye and couldn't fit room for sides or dessert. Attentive staff and management and great value.

Excellent

Great food and service

By Robert H |

This restaurant was very close to my hotel so I thought I would try it. They took me right in without a reservation. The service and food was amazing!! They treated me like a king. I had the Chilean Sea bass and it was absolutely the best. I will be returning on my next trip.

Excellent place for great food

By LilScar |

Visited for lunch after going to Morgan Library/Museum. There was a prix fixed lunch for $39 included soup or salad, entree and dessert with tea or coffee. From moment we arrived were greeted with friendly and efficient service by the manager and then by server Ash and runner Omar. Ash answered some questions and took order first course was French Onion Soup. Great ratio of broth to onions with perfect amount of bread and toasty melted cheese so good. Entrees were Scallops with Risotto and petite Filet and a side of Mushrooms. The 3 Scallops were perfectly cooked melt in the mouth, Risottowas soft but not mushy and the light lemony sauce pulled everything together. The petit filet was falsely advertised in a good way it was cooked to perfection and the side of mushrooms were good but not needed since the filet was so good. Dessert was cheesecake and chocolate mouse cake both were excellent. Omar kept drinks filled and brought tea out prior to dessert service. Ash and Omar are a great team. The Dining Room is comfortable well decorated. On way to Dining Room is the Aged Beef which is a nice touch for a steakhouse. Manager asked how everything was and thanked us for coming in.. Will be back when visit NYC.

Great NYC Steakhouse

By B18NJ |

We chose Royal 35 to celebrate our son’s birthday. The restaurant’s staff made it a great night. They led the whole restaurant in a loud and enthusiastic “Happy Birthday” and then served the cake we brought. It was a lot of fun. The service was attentive, friendly, and welcoming. The food was prepared quickly but we were never rushed. The food was great. The filet, the bone-in ribeye, and the NY strip were all perfectly prepared. The sides were excellent. We had the creamed spinach, mac & cheese, baked potato, and sautéed broccoli. I think we’ve started a new family tradition.

Amazing experience!

Outstanding Gastronomic Delight!

By Laurie S |

Outstanding Gastronomic Delight! Celebrated my daughters 21st Birthday tonight. We LOVE a great steakhouse and have been to many, both domestic and international, including in NYC. We chose Royal35 due to its reviews and did it ever live up! Service was outstanding and impeccable. The filet (center cut) was cooked to perfection and melted in our mouths. The au Poivre sauce was delectable. The jumbo asparagus and hand cut fries were the perfect complement. We finished the meal with sorbet for my daughter (which they comped for her Birthday- a lovely and unexpected gesture) and the lemon cheesecake for me. Both were ridiculously delicious. Super happy to have selected Royal35 to celebrate. We will definitely be back in the near future to enjoy it again!

Wonderful meal

We’ve made reservations for 4:15 pm. We walked into the restaurant 4 PM and were greeted immediately. Few minutes later were seated. As we were walking to our table, we've noticed a glass meat locker stocked with great looking beef. Someone came with water. Another person brought bread and third waiter asked us if wanted anything to drink. We ordered a bottle of red and white wine. We had lobster bisque and clams on half shell. Then three of us had filet mignon, ribeye, prime rib and I had Chilean sea bass. We had couple of side dishes. Sautéed mushrooms were delicious. We then finished our evening with delicious desserts and coffee and complementary glass of dessert wine. Service was first class. What a great way to finish our visit to New York City.

Oh Baby! How did I miss this place!

By drifty2014 |

You want atmosphere? You want great cocktails? You want Excellent service? But most of all, you want great steak with all that goes with it? This is THE PLACE!! After walking by for the last few months, went last night! Porterhouse is one of the best I've ever had in Manhattan! And the fish ain't far behind. Wine list is outstanding and check out your steaks aging in the dry age case. We had shrimp, crab and thick sliced bacon to start! BANG! And as I said, the porterhouse was fabulous. Cooked as we ordered, flavorful with every bite and like butter. Staff is PRO and know their way around the table and your culinary wants! Hey, I know steak and so does Royal 35!!

Good Steakhouse

By WilliamH2415 |

They accommodated our reservation on short notice. The porterhouse steak was very good. Nice restaurant with good service.

Amazing meat and service!

By Chrisimon |

Excellent! Friendly and attentive staff, great meat, we had the porterhouse and veggies - amazing. As they did not have the cognac I wanted they offered me a better one for the same price, and afterwards we offered another round by the owner. Will be back!

If you like raw steak and cold sides this could be the place for you. If not stay away

By Karen A |

We had high hopes for this restaurant and had researched well before we booked. We booked through OpenTable and had a confirmation and a follow-up email asking us to confirm we would be attending. So imagine our surprise when we arrived to be told there was no booking. We showed the receptionist confirmation and she said no sorry we have no booking but never mind we can find you a table. We were then seated in a secondary location on a small cramped table in the crowded bar area. I asked to be moved but was told this was not possible. They proceeded to seat us but as the space was so cramped they asked if we would sit side-by-side. I said no and the table was adjusted so we could be squeezed in to allow us to sit opposite each other. The table wobbled badly and the waiters were very attentive in trying to resolve this. Putting this bad start to one side we decided we would enjoy the evening and make the most of what we hoped would be a fantastic steak. We ordered porterhouse medium cooked along with some sides. The steak arrived along with the sides. It was so rare I could not eat it. I mention this to the waiter who took the steak away but left all the sides on the table. The steak returned a few moments later and looked okay. We took the pieces onto a plate but when you cut into them they were still rare in the middle they had obviously just been flashed in a pan to give the appearance of a medium cock. I called the waiter and once again asked that the steak be cooked medium. I was told the steak was medium. I questioned this and said it was rare and showed them the centre they said no that is how medium is cooked in the US. (Picture attached is how the steak looked after being re cooked once.) We were told “What you are wanting is well cooked” They removed the steak again and when it was returned the bone was black but the meat looked to be better. However during this back and forth with our meat the sides were going cold. At no point were we offered new sides. Not what you’d expect from a top dollar restaurant and it was definitely a top price for the food, ambience and table we got. We were asked on the number of occasions how our meal was and each time I said it was not good. No interest was taken in my comment other than a “sorry to hear that”. A suited man who can I can only assume was the manager of the restaurant was doing the rounds asking how things work when he came to our table he asked and I said it hadn’t been a good meal or experience his replied that he was sorry but the kitchens had been backed up, but that he would sort it. As we were almost finished I took this to mean that he would in someway compensate us for the terrible meal and experience. Alas when the bill arrived I was yet again disappointed. No discounts and a 20% service charge already added to the bill. I didn’t mind the service charge because the waiters who served us had tried their best to rectify the situation but they were let down badly by the kitchen and the general staff in the restaurant. We paid the bill and went to collect our coats. On collecting the coats we were asked yet again if we enjoyed our meal to which I replied no it was terrible. Yet again we got the stock answer I’m sorry to hear that!!! In summary this was an extremely disappointing evening the steak was terrible the sides were cold and the cost was exorbitant at $267 definitely not value for money and would never recommend to anyone. To add insult to injury we arrived back at our apartment to find an email from Open Table to say the restaurant had reported us as a no show. We definitely did show up but had we known what was in store we wouldn’t have bothered.

Wonderful restaurant!

By Meg B |

We had a great experience! Our waiter, Emilio, was very engaging and attentive. Had baked clams (save bread to stop up the delicious sauce) wedge salad, petite filet, and creamed spinach. Everything was delicious, lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Excellent Experience

By David S |

I went with four friends. Everyone enjoyed their experience. Sizzling Canadian Bacon appetizer...phenomenal! It was charred like a steak, which is something I didn't know could be done with pork. We paired up and got two porterhouses for two. We went medium for both steaks over the objection of one of us who wanted medium rare. He did indeed say that while good, he would have preferred rarer. Hardly the restaurant's fault though, and it was perfectly cooked for me... ...except...maybe...it could of had a little more of a seared crust to be perfect perfect. The mac'n'cheese side was very good. The creamed spinach was very good. The sauteed onions...meh. And call me crazy, but I LOVE that it was well lit. It drives me crazy that fancy restaurants think straining your eyes is sophisticated dining. Plus there was plenty space for our table. No feeling of being crowded. Our waiter was excellent. The host (I assume owner) came over & welcomed us. Convivial without being overbearing. The price was manhattan steakhouse prices. Very expensive, but to be expected. I do wish they (and many other fine dining establishments) would post prices on their web-site. It shouldn't be a surprise when you get there.

Great porterhouse steak for two

By Kay D |

This was a first trip back to NYC since the pandemic and were so sorry that one of our favorite restaurants did not make it. But, it was OK because we discovered the Royal 35 steakhouse. Had the porterhouse for 2 which was absolutely delicious--cooked and seasoned just right. Also had the chopped salad and onion rings which were also fabulous. Great staff and great food. What else could you ask for!

Disappointment in quality and service.

By Ross M. |

The royal 35 restaurant is an expensive one. Of course, I was cautious of that and was expecting quality in return. My disappointment started with the street in front of the restaurant, cover with trash bags. The entry is poor, a red tent with dirty plastic window. Once inside, the receptionist was really kind and polite, she took me to my table and wished me a good meal. Then it was a ballet of waiters. I think I met 4 or 5 waiters the same night. To whom is going my tip? By the way, surprisingly, waiters were a bit clumsy and in a rush. Where I would have wanted a peaceful atmosphere. The food was dry ( jumbo baked potato and filet mignon) and not seasoned properly. I was happy to have a good Italian wine to compensate. The room is quite beautiful, with charming chandlers and confortable lighting.

Average stakehouse, not worth price

By Sander B |

Food is OK, bot expected better for a steakhouse at this pricepoint. Staff is also gossiping a lot about customers in the corner of the restaurant which we could hear.

Really quite good!

By thiawroane |

Visiting NYC for a weekend. In an area filled with Asian cuisine, this place was a breath of fresh air! The drinks were delicious and potent, the lobster cocktail was succulent, with tons of options for an appetizer. My friend had the rack of lamb, which was described as excellent. I had the seared Tuna, done medium rare (Ahi-style). Sides were also excellent. Easy to miss amongst the hustle and bustle of NYC, especially on a Saturday night. Don't miss it! (Reservations advised, but on a Saturday night, we were able to book within 30 minutes of arrival.)

Fantastic meal!

By Steven V |

Had a fantastic meal here from start to finish. Great food and atmosphere!! Highly recommended!!! Please make a reservation. The restaurant it's open in the evening and trust me they are busy. Don’t underestimate them

Delicious steak and great service

By Ellen B |

My daughter and I came here as a splurge while visiting the city. The staff were excellent, from the hostess to the waiter to the gentleman I assume was the manager or owner, all were welcoming, attentive without feeling rushed, and made the meal that much better. The filet mignons melted in our mouths, cooked perfectly. The calamari appetizer was crisp and hot and the German potatoes were incredibly delicious. Our only ding was that there was a party of 8-10 gentleman that got pretty loud, they were celebrating a birthday with a lot of food and drink. I wish there had been a private room for them, as we felt we were part of their conversation. Even so, we will definitely return.

Awesome Experience

By Kay N |

This place is absolutely AMAZING.... Unfortunately dine in has been turned into “dine outside” with the pandemic but they have the outside dining very elegant and tasteful. The food is amazing and the customer service is impeccable. Will definitely visit when I’m in town again.

Neil Upson

By Neil U |

Great service and food was fantastic. Booked this for my wife's 50th birthday and they even gave her a slice of cheesecake with a candle. If you like your steaks then this is the place to visit.

Old School Feel

By socalukgirl |

My daughter wanted an authentic NY Steak experiences for one of our nights in town. She chose this restaurant. It was delicious. I got the petite filet mignon butterflied. She got a regular filet. The only downside is the limited choice of sides. We ordered mashed potatoes (excellent), asparagus and sauteed mushrooms, but would have enjoyed corn if it was offered.

Disappointing

By ranick |

When you read that this restaurant was rated #1 steakhouse in NYC- you go to see for yourself. Well, i have been to so many in NYC and must say that when you pay top dollar for a porterhouse for 2 and have to send it back for undercooking and pay $29 for a room tempature 3 shrimp cocktail - I think you expect more when you are #1. Sorry Royal, I never write reviews but had to in this case and will have to seriously think about going back.

Two years in a row.......

By LILACMIRA58 |

My partner and I went back to this wonderful restaurant for the second year in a row when we recently spent a long weekend in New York City. We had such an amazing experience the year before, it was really a no-brainer for us to return. We were greeted by the General Manager, Alfred Cetaj. Unbelievably, Alfred apologise for not recognising us when we told him that we had been previously. He also brought us two complimentary glasses of champagne to welcome us back. The food and service were phenomenal as expected. I really cannot recommend this place enough

Omg, so good. Eat here!

By Marianne A |

Amazing food and service. The flavours were incredible! Rich, layered, and also delicate. I recommend the fixed lunch menu with fillet Mignon and a side of mashed potatoes. The service was outstanding and Omar and William were attentive and adept at serving.

Excellent Stakes and Service

By PBZ |

We had an amazing experience and meal at Royal 35. The staff was very welcoming, and the service was professional and friendly giving us a super nice and elegant experience. We had the best 12 oz. stake cooked to perfection and the sides and dessert were fabulous. This little steakhouse beats the other chains or more popular restaurants because you get a very personal experience in NYC among all of the tourist places. We loved it and highly recommend for anyone looking for a classy steakhouse experience with excellent food.

Well worth a visit

By jayne s |

This wasn’t our first choose restaurant. We had looked at another restaurant however it was closed on this evening and I’m sure it wouldn’t of been as nice. We hadn’t booked a table so just tried on the off chance. We we’re greeted at the door and offered a table from the entrance to the exit we couldn’t fault the staff or the food. Outstanding service & food if we’re back in New York this would definitely be on our list to re visit

Great steak. Great service.

By On The Road Again |

Came here based on TripAdvisor’s reviews and was not at all disappointed. Incredible food! The New York Strip is amazing (pics) and the service great. Not on the high-end of similar steakhouses in the city.

Fabulous dinner experience

By Rodd C |

Remy and Adam treated my wife and mom like royalty. They did a great job of giving us a 5 star experience and the food was absolutely lovely. We will definitely come back.

Simply excellent

By travelwithoutmercy |

We had a hugely enjoyable dinner here in November. We shared the porterhouse and also had the German potatoes amongst our choices. Great service and really great steak. Highly recommended

Great place

By Tripmx |

I loved this place. The food the service. Everything was great. Plus the manager was really helpfull and kind. The lady in the reception was doing a great job. Was 31 of December 9pm so imagine how many people where there. TOTALLY RECCOMENDED

Delicious meat (and well digested, a significant detail)

By Marchigianello |

Delicious meat and impeccable service, what you would expect from the steakhouse of your dreams. The Burger Royal 35 is to be applauded, it must be booked a few days in advance, otherwise it ends in a flash.

All steakhouses are the same.

By hisabon59 |

The menu is still the same and the pasta is rare, the type and quality of meat is the same everywhere in New York, and the wine variety is usually small for a steakhouse, but I brought something different. The popularity also seemed to be one of its own. You can also add a card charge without asking anything when you check. I paid in cash without saying anything because it didn't matter, but no comment.

A Fantastic Manhattan Steakhouse

By IShepperd |

I picked this place because the web site made it look nice and it was a block from my hotel. I could not have been happier. The food was perfect and the staff were super friendly. I ended up coming back several more times for cocktails and dinner.

Fantastic steak and great service

By Gary B |

My wife and I popped in for a late lunch during our honeymoon in NY. We were served a treat, fantastic fillet mignon coupled with great service. By far the best meal we had during our visit. Worth every penny.,.....

This may be just my bad experience.

By ypklee |

This may be just my bad experience. As everyone did, I made reservation three weeks ago for a party of 12 people based on the excellent review. This is a family reunion trip and we want to make it special to celebrate one family member’s birthday. I received the email confirmation from the manager that he will offer a private room for no extra charge and will prepare a small birthday cake. I thought everything is all set and so well planned. We are all so looking forward to dine on Christmas Day and celebrate the birthday. We arrived on time and the reception lady pick up my reservation and ask to wait for a couple minutes. We ended up wait for 15 mins but that’s not a problem as we understand it is a Christmas Day so they are extremely busy. By the time we went to our assigned table, we are surprised that they squeeze all of 12 people into a table only for 8 people in the main dining hall, not even in the private room. Each of us sit shoulder to shoulder with only 2 feet of space. We don’t mind to sit a bit tight but definitely not the way that we can’t even take up the knife and fork. We asked the manager Alfred to come over and ask him if he think this is a table for 12 people and obviously he know the problem but he still try to sit 12 people with a table of 8 people. We show him the email that he promise for a private room. He then said it will be another 30 mins at least wait time and offer a couple drinks as compensation. Given such a peak dining hour, there is definitely no way they can offer a better table in next 30 mins so we all decided to leave. This is a very unpleasant experience as the restaurant has such a great review probably in food quality but they seem missing basic management or organization in customer service.

Excellent service with a personal touch! Absolutely delicious food served in a timely manner at the perfect temperature! Always checking on you to ensure your needs are met while allowing you privacy!

Good steak restaurant in the middle of Manhattan

By ev1986 |

Very good steak restaurant with decent portions. This also has its price: I paid 123 dollars for a steak (78 dollars), mashed potatoes (16) glass of wine (16 dollars) 1 bottle of water (9) which is a lot for one evening. The waiters were friendly and kept asking how it was. The meat was perfect. Only the prices and the noise level are not so good!

The best food I ever tried

By Gorgeous D |

The best steak house , amazing food great service I highly recommended this restaurant will definitely be coming back

A must for steak fans in New York.

By Lorenz W |

Excellent steaks, very friendly and professional service, very good wines. An absolute recommendation for steak lovers. However, quality also has its price 😉

Very high prices compared quality of food and service

By Claus R |

Very high prices compared to quality of food and service - I asked for a recommendation on wine - paid $140 and got a warm bottle. Also it was vintage 2018 which they did not advice on which I think is very strange to serve such a young wine already (considering the price level) - the food was average - the meat (porterhouse) was stringy. I asked about sauce up front and only one option (their own steak sauce) was given. I found that strange as most place will have multiple choices. Their sauce was not tasty. - the service was attentive, but lacking knowledge on wine - when getting the bill they had automatically added 20% gratuity. I find that rude. I know the customs of the US around tipping, but you should be given the choice of how much you would like to pay - the decor of the place is a bit tacky and doesn’t really feel like a place where you pay $ 400 for 2 course for 2 people and 1 bottle of wine. Price/quality was just not in sync.

Amazing Steak and very accomodating

By emeade1 |

We visited here with our two kids. Very, Very good steak, and they were very accomodating of our son with sensory issues, letting us have a booth away from the main dining room. Even though he didnt eat, he asked for green ice cream at the end of the dinner. Nothing of the sort was on the menu, but the waiter went back in the back and voila! Produced some sherbet. My son was thrilled. Thanks so much!

Not Great but Good!

By rebel56 |

Had reservations and we arrived exactly on time but no table was available. We were sent to a pub next door and only 2 out of the four of us consumed alcoholic beverages so we sat and waited for the table to become available. Approximately 20 minutes later they came for us and we were seated. The four of us shared a 44oz ribeye which was $187.00. The sides are expensive too especially the ramps. The steak was good but not great or worth the price! After our sides & steak with tip, the bill was approximately $350.00. Overall the food is good but overpriced like most restaurants in New York.

Outstanding

By Sissi |

Visited in 2019. My new favorite steakhouse in town. Meat cooked to perfection, also enjoyed very much the lobster mac and cheese.

Value for money, terrible price. Dishonest billing.

By Nath06 |

The reception and service are poor. You are made to understand as soon as you arrive that you should eat quickly. The meats are properly cooked and of fairly good quality. Desserts are bad. It is imperative to check the bill before paying because there are many errors, extra-billing, an additional fee line in case of payment by credit card, a gratuity imposed ex officio. Unfriendly atmosphere and deplorable welcome and services despite a rate of more than $400 for two people. Appalling value for money. Don't.

Chewy steak

By Marylandcore |

One of the worst steaks I had in a long time The presentation was promising but the ny strip was chewy beyond my wildest imagination I’m hoping it was my bad luck Or they don’t deserve the spot on trip advisor

Best experince EVER!

By Kristoffer G |

Best restaurant and very good service and exceptionel friendly staff. The Food was outstanding good🤩 We are 100% coming back👌🏻

Tried their price fixed lunch menu and loved it.

By philipu2015 |

Started with their French onion soup, then the petite fillet and cheese cake for dessert. The soup was pretty good. Nice start right. Then the main event came. I’ve not had a better petite fillet anywhere else. Not capital grill, not Flemings, not Ruth’s - they were very good but this one nailed it. Coffee and cheese cake made for a great lunch. I’ll be back.

Great steakhouse place!

By Tifanny Anderson |

Great place to have some delicious steak. Make sure to try the German potatoes from their menu, absolutely delicious!!

Brilliant food - shame about the wait

By yay.for.vacay |

Booked for 6.30, unfortunately we were left to wait in the bar for 30 minutes. However, when we arrived at our table we were served quickly. We ordered two steaks. Petite fillet (8oz) and the fillet mignon (12oz) both cooked perfectly. Alongside the steaks we ordered mac and cheese with lobster and mashed potato. This food was prepared and cooked very well. The service at the table was good.. our waiter was checking we were okay and constantly refilling our drinks! Pricing wise... not to bad for Christmas Day! Averaged about $170!

Hidden gem

By lar36 |

I live in the neighborhood and wanted to try something new. I wasn’t disappointed! My iceburg wedge salad and filet mignon were excellent. The staff was super friendly. I will be back!

Engagement dinner done right

By Jared K |

It was the day before I planned on proposing and I wanted to celebrate at a steakhouse after with our parents. I first tried to make reservations at the famous NYC steakhouses I’ve heard of before (Peter Lugers, Keens, Sparks). Inevitably, they had no room for a party of 8 with two days notice during the busy holiday season. Luckily, I found Royal 35 through OpenTable, read the impressive reviews, and booked a table. Excellent decision. Royal 35 made my engagement dinner a treat— the food, ambiance, and staff were delightful and made us feel special. I have no doubt Royal 35 will soon be as well known as the above mentioned steakhouses.

Perfect steak

By Culture789100 |

My wife and I had a wonderful steak dinner here the other night. The meat was perfectly done. The service was superb. Wonderful meal

Excellent choice of meats

Excellent service and the food has no loss. We ordered the porterhouse! All delicious and in the requested term. Good wine list

Back to New York but only to eat here again

By Valentina I |

Local near our hotel and attached to the empire state building... From the outside you wouldn’t trust him (I speak for us Italians who look a lot at aesthetics) when you enter inside it is very characteristic New York style a bit 70s Nice waiters, fast service but if we have to talk about dishes ..... we were amazed Very soft meat, a butter, even blood, 0 annoying nerve threads.... Such good meat hadn't been eaten in years and I was amazed I will recommend it sure

Amazing Steak

By TJS2000 |

We booked here because it was close to the hotel and walkable to the restaurant. I have to say it was an amazing steakhouse! We started off with the tuna tataki and it was fresh and the wontons were crispy. I got the petite fillet (8 oz) and it was cooked a perfect medium. My husband and son got the regular fillet (12 oz) and it was perfectly cooked medium rare. My son ordered crème brûlée and he said it was delicious. Wine menu also had a good selection.

Amazing food and atmosphere

By Aarron M |

I came for some good seafood and a drink. My server Val was amazing and friendly. The Sea Bass was superb as well as the asparagus. The scotch was top notch. This visit was well worth the price. Would definitely recommend and will visit again.

Great Way to End Vacation

By Darigregkat |

My family and I had reservations for 7:45. We arrived and were promptly seated. The hostess was professional and friendly as was the waitstaff. We ordered an appetizer of Beefsteak Tomatoes and Onions. I actually prefer my tomatoes and onions sliced a bit thinner however they were good and fresh. My husband ordered a NY Strip and I ordered the Bone in Ribeye. Along with our 5 year old daughter we ordered Mac n Cheese and Creamed Spinach to share. Everything came out sizzling hot. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and very well seasoned. We didn’t need or did we use the house made steak sauce. Sides were equally wonderful. Even our daughter (that hardly eats meat) loved the steaks and said she couldn’t choose which tasted better because they were both delicious. Price is on the expensive side with steaks averaging about $62 each and sides about $18 each however it was sooooo worth it.

Excellent food and service

By Edward's Assessments |

Possibly the best steak we've ever had -- and the au jus! Magnificent! Excellent service. Prices not for the feint of heart, but fantastic from start to finish! So much so that we went twice during our trip -- and didn't think twice about it.

2nd visit, still the best steak in town

By George C |

Went here in Oct 18 and just revisited. Still the best steak in town. Worth every penny, sorry dollar. Steak cooked to perfection. The side dishes, order 1 between yourselves as they are big. Service top drawer, I really cannot fault this place. Going back to NYC next year, I know where I'll be having my steak.

Too expensive

By Marcus Hollidon |

Expensive steakhouse where the atmosphere doesn't match the price tag. The food just about does - not the tastiest Porterhouse steak I've ever had but pretty good. Good sides. Wine list overpriced.

We always enjoy our visits to Royal 35

By ashleygriffiths2014 |

This was our third visit to Royal 35 and we love coming here. A welcoming owner, friendly staff and fantastic steak. We will return next time we visit NYC.

Love the Salad and steak

By Otilia L |

I absolutely love the salad and the steak. I was looking for a steakhouse that would satisfy my cravings and I was not disappointed.

No disappointment for our return visit

By Coolbananas69 |

We found this great steak restaurant by chance 4 year a go on our last visit to NYC. As it was my birthday for latest trip I decided to return again. Great choice as the food, service and place were better than I remembered. A wonderful treat and a big thank you to everyone for my extra birthday treats. Thank you

Excellent for lunch

By shandy2922 |

We headed here for their 3 course lunch menu and it certainly didn't disappoint. The portion sizes were just enough for us, and the food was excellent. The staff were attentive and recommended an excellent bottle of red to go with our meal. I definitely recommend.

Real well done Steak

By South Asia Tourism Federation |

the steak was really soft and tasty. the presentation was attractive, eye catching. It was served very hot plate which is very much required.

Excellent Steak

By Joseph Weis |

I recently tried steak here. I was hands down the best steak i had in long long time. I didn't plan the visit I just happened. I'm so glad that I chanced upon this wonderful place. The next time I drop in NYC, gobbling the scrumptious steak here will be my top priority.

A great restaurant

This was our first visit and certainly not our last ! Everything was perfect from the welcoming to the excellent food (huge huge plates !!!). And the exceptional service - thank to Val, and all the team.

Sadly disappointing

By Lwatson1970 |

Having read the amazing reviews of this restaurant I booked a table for 2 to celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday. The steak itself did in fact live up to expectations however the overall experience was not great. Perhaps if you are a partying group then the incredibly noisy environment adds to the buzz of the occasion, however as a meal for 2 it was sadly disappointing. Having to shout at each other across the table to make yourself heard does not make for a pleasant evening. I actually feel incredibly sorry for the waiters who are constantly working in this environment as the 90 decibels I measured on my phone would mean the need for ear protection if you worked anywhere else with this constant noise. So sadly even though some of the food was amazing, the noise took the edge off our evening which we cut short and skipped dessert and coffee opting to have something back at our hotel. As for the food....the tuna tartare starter was lovely, unfortunately my crab cake starter was burnt and when pointed out to the waiter no comment was made (he probably didn’t hear me!). The porterhouse for 2 was beautiful and we did enjoy a nice Malbec to accompany it. Many other reviews don’t mention cost specifically although reference it as not being cheap. I would agree as our 2 starters, porterhouse with 3 sides and a bottle of wine came to 352$ including the tip which was automatically added. Not cheap and without being able to savour the evening due to the noise it was not great value for money despite the good steak. Shame as I was looking forward to dessert. So to conclude, if you are after a romantic dinner for 2 this is unlikely to be the best option.

Great food!!

By Jim S |

Overall as a whole this place was great. The food was outstanding and when I made the reservation I said it was a bday so they gave a piece of cake on the house. The only reason it wasn’t a 5 because while our server was good he didn’t check on us enough. We wanted to add a few things and weren’t able to because he wasn’t doing enough rounds. Other than that this place is definitely worth going to.

Great meat in downtown NY

By Giorgio B |

We happened by chance, wanting to avoid the many ethnic restaurants in the area. We had a Prime New York Strip Steak each, with some side dishes. The meat is exceptional, the size pantagruel, so we could have taken only one in three. The service is flawless. The price is inevitably high, at least by our standards.

Very Good

By Vany |

Very nice and welcoming place! Very good service and exceptional quality of meat! Prices in New York average.Recommended

Perfect

By Helen B |

We walked in without reservations in the early evening and were swiftly taken to a booth and watched this remarkable restaurant fill up. Understated service and the steaks were the best ever. It’s not cheap but worth every penny. A lovely first night experience on our recent trip to New York.

The porterhouse steak was absolutely phenomenal. The wait staff were very attentive and fast service. Highly recommended

Great food great place

Went for dinner yesterday and the host was more than happy to take us in late!! Steaks were cooked perfect and calamari was great! Make sure you head here when in town ! Everyone was friendly

Disappointing Food, expensive

By Kelly |

The restaurant is very enclosed and as it was busy it was so noisy; we could barely have a conversation without shouting. I booked here for my birthday meal as I really wanted a lovely steak dinner. When we arrived, our table wasn’t quite ready, so we were asked to wait in the bar as we were slightly early. We ordered some drinks and dried off as it was pouring with rain outside. Once our table was ready our coats were hung up and our drink were taken through to the dining room. The staff were friendly but seemed like they were a bit pre-occupied. I can fully appreciate the restaurant was full, but we were still paying guests. We quickly ordered our meals and decided to go for the French onion soup followed by a sharer T-bone steak which we asked to be cooked medium with a side of French fries. When the starters came, they were nice, they had a ton of cheese melted on top but we both really enjoyed it. When our main course came, we had high expectations, the T-bone was brought on a large plate that seemed to be sizzling, we were service 4 pieces and the steak was left on the table for us to help ourselves to. The steak was pink but not what I call medium so was a lot tougher than we like. The French fries were hard and undercooked therefore were not enjoyable at all. For what we got this place is very expensive and the fact it was not cooked to our liking and the fries were practically raw was more than disappointing. As neither of us enjoyed our main course we decided not to stay for dessert and called the waiter for the bill. The meal cost around $190 and honestly wasn’t worth even half of that. I would not recommend and would not go back.

Serious steaks and Serious Service

By GEFromNH |

Wonderful traditional steakhouse. The variety of meats were incredible. The sides were wonderful too. Great fries, Creamed Spinach, Crab Cakes. Can't say enough about the wait staff. Attentive, helpful and super friendly Definitely a real treat

Accommodated our Request

By George G |

We needed outdoor dining due to immune-compromised. Royal 35 says it offers outdoor dining, and they did. They have a wide enough sidewalk. While we missed the nice decor inside, the service was just as good as if we were inside. I asked for my rib-eye very pink, but not red, and it was just as I requested, and tasty and moist. We will come back.

Excellent meal and service

By Maxine P |

We are on holiday in New York and pre booked this restaurant based on its reviews. It certainly lives up to its reputation! Excellent service from start to finish with the most amazing food and drinks. Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful evening. We will be back that’s for sure.

Worthy

Excellent and tasty. The staff is very kind and the food is excellent. Exactly the right steak. :) solid five and recommendations.

Couples night out

By Amy W |

Visited here tonight for our last night out. Found it through trip advisor and thought it looked good! We definitely were not disappointed! The meal was amazing (Porterhouse for 4) and the service was over and above! Ash was knowledgeable and friendly and called football football not soccer!!! Top marks all round and definitely worth a revisit on future trips! If you’re looking for top quality steak then this place is a must!! Thanks for a great night!

The BEST steak EVER!

By madison p |

If you are in NY, this restaurant is a must! The best steak I have ever had. Yes, I’ll say it, better than Eddie V’s!

Don't.

GREAT EXPERIENCE

By Maggie_thompson2011 |

wow what a great solo experience I had. From the bartenders, to management, food, drinks, ambiance- everything was 100 percent. I am a restaurant manager and never write these types of reviews but I wanted to share that this one was great for my first time to New York. I sat at the bar and enjoyed every second. Sherif was awesome. Don’t forget to ask for an espresso martini from Emillio.

Seriously good steaks

By Zigett |

This dimly lit restaurant takes its steaks seriously. The waiter service is professional and the steaks are immense. The chargrilled strip steak was easily enough for two people and was cooked to perfection. They also serve a very good selection of sides. The restaurant is not cheap, but you are paying for top quality steaks in comfortable surroundings.

One of NYC's best steak houses 👌

By Claire H |

Looking for a nice meal for our wedding anniversary, found this steak house. Lovely cosy venue with an intimate setting. Staff were very attentive and friendly from the first moment. Talked us through the menu and helped us select. Food was extremely good, generous portions, well worth every dollar. Will definitely be going back next time 😁

Recommended for steak lovers

By Manfredo L |

Super friendly service. The steaks were fantastic, large wine list, the prices should be discussed, I personally found them excessive

Beautiful steak

By Hayley C |

I booked here for me and my husband as we love a steak and it seemed a very nice place to eat. We were seated straight away and offered drinks. We ordered our steaks (fillet) with some sides. The steaks that came were big (12oz) and were cooked just as we had asked. Couple of things; I wish the waiter had told us to the weight of the steak as I would have ordered the petit one as the sides were quite generous so we couldn’t finish it. The sauce that came with it didn’t compliment it - tasted like tomato sauce to be honest. Neither bad points but they would make my next visit better.

Better than Keanes!

By Kate B |

We come here every time we are in New York as our treat. We come for the warmth of the welcome, the excellent wine list and of course the New York strip steak!

Best steak ever!

By Kelly Taylor |

We had dinner at this restaurant in December 2023. It was amazing. Literally the best steaks we have ever eaten. The food, ambiance and service were all incredible. The restaurant has a lovely old school vibe, with lots of dark wood and plush comfy chairs. Service is friendly and attentive. We all had a seafood entree and they were delicious too (Crab cake, crab cocktail, oysters), What a find

Great Dinner

By AweJames |

Had a wonderful dinner last evening. Location easy to find on 35th Street. Service by reception ladies and servers throughout was excellent. Very thoughtful and friendly. Had filet mignon, asparagus and crab cake and all tasted very nicely cooked. Only gripe was a little loud in the restaurant given enclosed space with not more then 20-30 tables. That also means you must make reservation prior to ensure seating. Overall recommended if you are willing to spend for a great meal.

Relaxing and hospitable (Entspannend und Gastfreundlich)

By Masami F |

I was able to find a table one day before my dining, which was surprising. There were people but the place was not crowded. Waiters were caring and friendly. I ordered NY Strip sirloin, asparagus, a glass of Moscato, a cheesecake and a cafe latte, and it was almost $150. For me it was definitely worth the price. They gave me a glass of additional Moscato on the house. The manager thanked me on my way out. I asked them to re-heat the steak twice, which they obliged heartily. I was there for 2 and 15 minutes. It was not crowded, as I said, but they seem to imply that I can stay there as long as I want, which I appreciated that. It was a long stay, but still they wouldn't give me the check unless I ask them to.

Unbelievable! Could not fault!

By Alex M |

Unbelievable! The steak was the best steak I’ve ever tried! Service was brilliant! Honestly could not fault the restaurant. Fillet and lobster mac and cheese recommended!!!

Great food, service is disappointing..

By DNA1972 |

We decided to visit Royal 35 for a birthday meal on a visit from London. The food was fantastic (jumbo shrimp cocktail, surf and turf, salmon and filet mignon). Dining room is composes c 12 tables and background music gives a modern vibe. The service however was just average. We had to chase someone to take a drinks order, no side plates given for the bread, water poured into a G&T, bill just arriving without coffee or asking if we wanted any other drinks. It just felt too easy that an 18% tip would be added to a $450 bill ( for 3) with no effort made to look after guests. In London where tips are c 10% staff in higher end restaurants earn their money and make the experience special. Perhaps Royal 35 have enough custom to make service delivery unnecessary. Good food/wine but the service let the venue down. Our niece (18) joined us as a part of her birthday trip to NY, she was surprised that the service in such a well regarded/high end venue was average. She works at a Wedding venue in the UK and thought they did a better job looking after their guests!!

Exceptional

By Carles S |

For those of us who like good meats, it is a pleasure to find restaurants with such good raw materials and with attention to both the maturation of the pieces and the cooking points, but you can also combine them with seafood, so the enjoyment is already It is from another planet, we liked it a lot and without a doubt we will repeat on our next trip, to always keep in mind, the phenomenal treatment at all times🔝

Nice place and very good meat

By Francisco Borges |

Pleasant environment and attentive staff. The meat was great. The price is a little more expensive than the others (U$ 65 a filé mignon) but it was worth it.

Mr. Gedi

By Gediminas S |

we been here on 29th November. I've tried stakes all over the world and these beat everything I ever tried!! staff friendly and meat.. ogh god meat!! cooked to perfection! love it! love it! love it!

Disappointing

By kslg |

We went here because we could not get into Keen’s, a favourite steak place for us. Sadly this place did not compare. Our reservation was not honoured on time, the waiting area was tiny, and there was nowhere to hang your heavy winter coat because all of the hangers were used. The steak was undercooked and I could not eat it. Ugh. I would never ever return.

Excellent porterhouse for 2

By Michael GN |

we arrived for our reservations and were seated promptly. the waitstaff were professional and friendly. the food was as you would expect at a high end steakhouse. we had the porterhouse for 2 and the whole steak was a tender as a filet. our server Remy paced the meal well and had some great recommendations. when we're in the city, this will be a must do.

cool restaurant

By Charles Wright B |

I was there and it's really worth it!!!! super recommended, very good attention and the spectacular place

Really great place

By Austyn S |

Great food , amazing service, old school charm , club feel, great food, servers are very attentive, and lots of options , not just steak, fixed price menu is a bargain

Superb Steak, really delicious

By Richard A |

We had dinner here last Nov 2021 in celebration of our anniversary and order their special steak dishes, which taste really good and melted in our mouth. Ambience was nice, services were good and pricing on the upper side but truly worth it. It is definitely one of the best steak restaurant in NYC, strongly recommended.

Hold up!

By Brunooo |

Certainly the meat is of quality, the Very attentive staff, but the price is exorbitant. The restaurant room is cold, anonymous without decoration...in short, an experience that I do not recommend and that I will not repeat

Decent but not great

By John L |

All the food was cooked well enough but the quality of the steak wasn't great and they pair it with ketchup which is really odd. The onion rings weren't fresh and the baked clams were 80% breading. Thankfully the club music wasn't too loud but it's a very odd choice for a steakhouse. Go to Kean's if you want a great meal. They also push customers to write a review on TripAdvisor so you're welcome.

Great hidden spot

By AdamL60093 |

Loved the ambiance of the dinning room here... High ceilings and an open feel... Definitely popular and a little on the loud side from a noise perspective. Order the Royal Salad for sure .. It’s delicious The sautéed spinach was great too - heavy on the garlic which was fine with me! I have to confess, I had the Tuna ... It was OK - But I will go back and I’ll have a steak - Not really fair to judge a steak house on its fish.

Frat steak but a little noisy.

By 844mfoley |

My wife selected the restaurant for our first night in NYC and to celebrate her birthday. Our booking was very early evening so not many diners to start with and many waiters ready to serve. There was a mix up with the starters for which there were many apologies, before we sat down to New York strips and a petit filet mignonette, with sides of German potatoes and broccoli - steaks cooked perfectly and portions huge. We had a house white Cabernet Sauvignon that was also good. We were too full for dessert but the waiters produced a cheesecake to share for my wife’s birthday- it too was good. The staff were very attentive and the manager/owner came over for a chat. We enjoyed the food although beware that it is above average prices. Only gripe was that the background music was way too loud.

NOT A GOOD START & NOT A GOOD ENDING

By Rafael |

The wine list is disappointing. We ordered a Caesar Salad - Specifically asked if the dressing has anchovies - NO , said our server. After one bite I realized there was plenty of anchovies . . When I called our server back he said will inquire with the chef, and then added probably yes to anchovies, excepted that they are pre mixed in the dressing. We send the salads back. Hoping the porterhouse for two will save the evening. The quality of the meat was disappointing !! The cooking didn’t help. I erroneously booked Royal 35 based on a Michelin star. I wonder how they were awarded a Michelin star… Terribly disappointing night ! I apologized to my wife for booking poorly. PS. I gave Royal 35 ⭐️ ⭐️ , assuming that nobody would read a review with one star only . However, I believe it does not deserves more than ⭐️.

Perfect New York Dinner

By simona |

Excellent food for both quality and cooking. Attentive and friendly service, we asked to turn off the air conditioning and they did it immediately, they offered us two glasses of Moscato with the excellent New York cheese cake. We had the lamb chops, exceptional, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the burger, absolutely perfect. We would recommend. Adequate prices in New York and quality, considered 100 euros each with drinking

Last night I New York

By Polley01 |

It was our last night in New York and we have been away from home Sydney Australia, for 3 weeks. As a meat loving family we were all craving a good steak. I found this little treasure on Google Maps. It was close tonour hotel and looked pretty good. We arrived after a long day of holidaying and looked a fright. I had no idea it was more fine dining than just a steakhouse . It really didn't matter because the staff didn't judge us on our appearance. They were extremely attentive and shared jokes with us. We got the porter house steak for 4, 2 of the 4 of us are very big eaters, so it made sense to do it this way The other 2 got the fillet steak and the fish. We devoured the steak in record time as it was cooked perfectly, medium rare, just how we like it. The sides are separate, so you just get the steak and you pivk the sides. We had the German potatoes, mash and string beans. I can not thank the staff enough for making this a night to remember. If you are ever in New York you need to come here.

Keen’s is good but this is better

By Adam G |

If you want a really great steak with genuinely personal service, this is your place. If you’re lucky enough to sit at the bar and chat with Sherif (one of the three “working partners”), who once served Sinatra, you should definitely take the opportunity. This has the real feel of a family place with pride of ownership radiating from every employee (at least those whom I encountered) - and the steaks they turn out are top class. My new Midtown favourite.

Amazing steakhouse

By Joseph |

Visited this brilliant steakhouse twice In 5 days. Food was excellent and service was even better.the waiters were polite and attentive.I would thoroughly recommend this steakhouse to anyone in New York Me and my family recommend the lobster and shrimp cocktails for starter, for the main courses we recommend filet mignon and either the New York strip or the prime ribeye steak

Great Restaurant, Great Food, Very attentive staff

By Lisahug |

Literally walked in off the street and were quickly accommodated (an english accent goes a long way in the U.S.) beautiful decor, good wine list, not a huge choice on the menu it is a steak house but the steaks are cooked to perfection and with the choice of wines on offer you will have an all round hearty meal. Perhaps a little pricey but hey for the service, the decor and the food its worth it!

Outstanding!

By Travel Spy |

I don't do long reviews so let's cut to the chase dear travellers. Food excellent. Service excellent. and most importantly, would I recommend to you? Definitely (unless you are Vegetarian!) - an Oasis of dining excellence. 👌

Best steaks

By Michele L |

We expected a lot when we booked dinner here. And now I must say high reputation is well deserved. My Filet Mignon was second to none. Friendly owner gave us some details on how he gats highest quality meat. Really really good!!

Royal 35 Fantastic

By Jeff D |

We had both lunch and dinner there. We could have easily split both meals as the servings were generous. We had burger and fries for lunch and filet and baked potato for dinner. Both were perfectly prepared and we told them we were sharing the steak the halved it and prepared the halves to our individual taste. The wait staff were excellent.

Royal 35 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

By Arron M |

My partner and I went for a steak dinner while in NYC. And from start to finish the food, the experience and the staff/ service was top class! The steak was both beautifully cooked and extremely tender and brought promptly. The lamb chops were also delicious and full of meat! Safe to say we both left stuffed with a full belly and smiles on our faces. Cannot recommend the place enough! 10/10

SIMPLY BLESSED TO HAVE EATEN HERE!

By freddiedoncaster |

As I say ,blessed and blown away, this restaurant is truly amazing,it honestly brought me to tears, simply knowing that I was there. From the moment you step over the threshold to the time you leave, you are in culinary heaven! The food is at a different level, the service is second to none, and the atmosphere is electrifying!! I won’t go on as I don’t want to boooooooooooore you.....just go and enjoy,it’s as simple as that!

AMAZING ! Everything

By Deonnie B |

Mac and cheese was amazing wine choices were great and lamb chops were great. Definitely coming back and this was my first time.

Incredible experience

By TravelingTommyS |

I found Royal on TripAdvisor. I was greeted at the door with a warm smile by Nina. I decided to have dinner at the bar with a friend. The wine was awesome, Sharif was a wealth of knowledge on the food and wine offerings. They have a meat locker that displays their aged beef which was very cool. Adam explained the process they use and was very friendly. The atmosphere is warm and cozy with a trendy vibe. The food was incredible and cooked to perfection! This will be a staple stop for me when I'm in NYC. A must stop for anyone in the area.

So good

By D'mari S |

We loved our trip here. Amazing steak, shrimp cocktail, porterhouse, lobster mac!!! We felt like royalty. Hope to be back one day

Royal 35 steak house

By LP89012 |

Excellent service and the food was prepared perfectly. Close to Madison Square Garden. We were able to walk to the Garden after dinner

Just Perfect

By William W |

This steakhouse is awesome and our group loved it. I ordered the crab cake for an app it was delicious, also had the lamb chops which were perfect. My group ordered steak and they loved it too, came sizzling! Our wait staff was courteous. We loved the wines too. Everything was just perfect. If you're in midtown looking for a restaurant or better yet, a steakhouse, I recommend this place. The full experience our group had was wonderful. We'll come back soon for sure.

Beef at the top !

By Thierry S |

First, The meat is really excellent , tasty and well cooked . You went there for this and we had what we were looking for. Staff is welcoming, insist for a table in the dining room if a spare table near the entry is proposed. Of course as an European , you ll find that the portion are double the « normal » size (or more). Wine list has various nice items and pretty expensive The price and the waiting time for the dishes are the 2 points a bit negative , but as the beef is so good ... you will have a very nice diner

Meat!!!!!

By Jose Z |

Excellent food. I'll be back as soon as possible. Good service. Good quality of meats. Prices according to what is offered.

Dishonest billing and low-end service.

By pierrealric75 |

We were pushed by the service despite a meal over $400 for two. The billing is dishonest with errors, extra-billing, a billing line in case of payment by credit card, a tip charged at 18%, charged twice. Very poor value for money. Restaurant victim of past success. To be formally avoided

Top notch all around!

By Inga K |

Royal 35 Steakhouse is our go to for a delicious steak dinner. The food, drinks and hospitality is always top-notch. We had another amazing experience earlier this month. We’ll be back soon!

Really disappointed ☹️

By Stella M |

I booked this for my husbands 40th birthday in end September. I had read reviews and while some were bad the majority were good and so went ahead and booked cause it was close to our hotel. On the day we were running a little late so I emailed the restaurant to move our time to 9:30pm which wasn’t a problem. When we arrived we sat down and were rushed into ordering drinks and the menu. We were still talking and so when the waiter asked if we were ready we asked for a few mor emi it’s to which he replied rather rudely “I need to take your order soon the kitchen closes at 10pm”. So we ordered starters and the tomahawk steak for 2. In fairness the starters were excellent. When we got the tomahawk though unfortunately while we ordered it medium rare, this came out blue (at a push!). The outside was seared and the inside was freezing!!! We told the waiter who basically argued again and said “that’s medium rare how you asked!!!” We had it sent back to cook more as this was a $100 steak! It came back better and we enjoyed the rest of the meal. On the whole though I was really disappointed in the waiters attitude and the way we were felt we were rushed through a $250+ meal (plus wine). Sad to say it kind of spoiled my husbands 40th birthday evening and we definitely will not be back :(. I wish we’d gone to Kean’s round the corner.

Dinner

By Michael K |

We were visiting Ney York city, looking for somewhere good to eat that didn't require a dress code. My son found this place where the service was outstanding along with the meal. The wait staff was just terrific at taking care of everything we needed and pointed out certain items to try. If I'm ever again in New York, this will be my place to stop. I'm not sure if it was the owner or manager that came to our table a few times to ask how our meal was, but it was greatly appreciated.

Our Enjoyable Return

By Jeff D |

We were back after a two year absence. We were so pleased to find we had the same manager, the same server, and the same outstanding experience. Our food was excellent and we will look forward to our next visit to NYC and Royal 35.

Absolutely Outstanding! Best Steak Ever!!!

By Tammy-Lee M |

The service was outstanding, the steak perfectly cooked, and the dessert was heavenly. The best meal we have ever had.

A bad experience

By Christine L |

A salad césar without chicken and tomate (just green salad, cheese and bread for 19 dollars) is not a salad césar... I don't approve it.

What a fantastic spur of the moment NYC Steak

By Coastal16246565655 |

Was staying in town at the Langham, and my friend and I impulsively decided to go out for agood steak. I was familiar w Keen's but without a reservation it was easily an hour+ wait; google maps lead us to Royal 35, they confirmed they could get us in immediately and I'm so grateful for it!! The oysters and clams were fresh as can be and. the bone in ribeye was outstanding- and some of the best creamed spinach i've ever had! so glad this is now front and center on my NY Steakhouse radar! fantastic food and service!

Outstanding

By BoardingPass188278 |

Excellent way to spend our last night in the city. French onion soup, crab cake, wedge salad, filet...all amazing! We were disappointed they ran out of cheesecake, but they gave the table the orange cake to share.

This was a business dinner with one of my best clients and I am mortified at how bad the food was & the service.

By Gail P |

1) Let's start with - we ordered appetizers. We explained we weren't done yet but the waiter grabbed the plates anyway. 2) Next - we decided to share the Porterhouse for 2, along with creamed spinach & fried mushrooms. We ordered "Medium Rare" steak. When they brought it to the table it was "RAW". I am talking dead cold in the center. I showed it to the waiter who argued with me and said " well what would you like me do do about it?" He then called over another waited and they argued in another language amongst themselves. My jaw just dropped and I was sooooooo embarrassed in front of my client. They took the steak and cooked it some more & brought it back to the table but now it came back grey & overcooked. What they should have done was "Fire up another steak and made it right"!!! I would not recommend this restaurant and will never go back! They didn't even take a portion off the bill!!!

Great way to entertain clients!

By Mike Z |

I hosted a dinner for clients in the private room at Royal 35. I reached out to the restaurant initially because if their TripAdvisor status and it was relatively close to our clients’ office. I went in the day before and met with one of the partners, Alfredo, and we selected wines for the dinner. Alfred and his team were extraordinarily accommodating. Our waiter, Remi, took care of us like we were royalty. I wish I could post a video of when the seafood towers were brought out. The display was amazing and the seafood was absolutely delicious. Everyone loved their steaks and the sides were also excellent. We did a sampling of desserts and there was absolutely nothing left. Just an overall great experience!

Very good and very expensive by German standards

By lotharfranz |

Good steakhouse with great meat... and great prices... Porterhouse steak for 2 people $150... but a kg of great beef... French fries $18... Salad $18, onion soup $18... Everything really good... You just have to decide if it's worth it

Best Steakhouse ever

By Michelle W |

We had filet mignon and NY Strip steak. Both perfectly cooked. Best steak we ever had. Also personnel great, very attentive and nice place. If we would have lived here, we would have eaten here at least every month. Mouthwatering good.

Good prime rib steaks but expensive

By Dez |

Got the prime rib steak on the bone for $79 per person. The steak was medium and was tender. The plate was sizzling when came out. We came around 2pm and didnt have a booking. It did start to get busy so id recommend to book to not miss out. Sides not included though, we got asparagus as one of the sides and only got three asparagus for $19. Gratitude was $40 on top of the bill.

Best Steak ever!!!!!

By rjohnsonlovetravel |

I´m a fan for any kind of good steak and this one really impressed me, the flavor was absolutely delicious, a friend of mine recommended this one, and i don´t regret, I will come back for sure, the service was great amd the prices are good.

Good but not great

By Thomas K |

Surprised by all the 5 star reviews. We chose it based on the reviews and were not impressed. It was not bad by any means and we enjoyed our meal but we all agreed it was average for a top end steakhouse. The prices were extremely high as well.

Dry Aged Steaks!

By Gotham Delicious |

We walked in on an early afternoon and tried their Prix Fixe Lunch. We ordered the French Onion Soup, Petite Filet Mignon, Truffle Pappardelle Pasta Bolognese, Organic Seasonal Greens, Lemon and Raspberry Sorbets, Strawberry Cheesecake, Tea and Cappuccinos. EVERYTHING was delicious and well prepared. We frequent many Fine Dining establishments and Royal 35 Steakhouse was a wonderful discovery. We are huge fans of Dry Aged steaks and completely enjoyed the buttery consistency of our medium rare filets. If you want a good steak, this is where to go. We'll be coming here again real soon. See our video of their Dry Aging Room on our IG @GothamDelicious.

New York’s Best Steakhouse

By Mel |

This is hands down the best steakhouse in New York. This was our second visit here and the food & the service were incredible! Our sever Ash was so attentive. Myself and my partner both has the Filet Mignon and they were both cooked to perfection. Couldn’t of asked for a better meal experience

I don’t normally write reviews

By Louis Mc Cullagh |

I don’t normally write reviews of restaurants but I had to make an exception after eating at Royal 35. The food was out of this world delicious and the service was equally great. Enzo was my main waiter—his jovial attitude and attention to detail made the dining experience truly special. I had the Tuna tartar and my friend had baked clams and porter house for two it was outstanding ,Alongside Enzo, the outstanding service was boosted by Willie, Ricky, and Caesar. As things open back up in NYC you should definitely make a point of dining at Royal 35.

Excellent Food & Service

By Adele B |

Porter House steak for two was excellent as usual portion sides in NYC are plentiful so go hungry and prepare to take away! Great wine selection. Service was for me perfection, not overly fussy but just the right amount of attention to feel you’ve been well looked after. Would highly recommend

Exceptional dining experience.

We enjoyed the Chilean Sea Bass with the loaded baked potato and the Filet Mignon with mashed potatoes. Both were excellent and extremely tasty. The Chilean Sea Bass is probably the best that I have ever tried. Perfectly cooked, attention-grabbing seasonings and paired with the ideal sauce. The service provided was just as equally impressive as the food. From the hostess, to the wait staff and up to the owner. They were all very attentive, friendly and ensured that everything was superb. I could not ask for more in a dining experience.

Great dinner, excellent service!

By USAMaineTravelers |

My wife and I had a great dinner at Royal 35! The service was prompt and attentive. They offered to allow us to share the wedge salad and split it in the kitchen. The manager came over to see how we were enjoying dinner; it was our first time there. I ordered a wine from Kosovo I had never heard of (Stone Castle Cab) and it was excellent! When I mentioned that to the waiter, he brought us the bottle to see and poured a gift glass for each of us! The wedge salad, petite filets and sides were all excellent and the steak cooked as ordered. Their homemade streak sauce is definitely worth trying. The restaurant was busy on a Thursday night. Waiters all wore masks and gloves. Tables were distanced around six feet apart, maybe a little less. But it’s a large room with high ceilings. Royal 35 is worth a visit!

Mighty meat

If you want a traditional NY steak house experience look no further. We had the porterhouse for 2 between 3 of us, which was plenty by the time we'd added the extras. Service added the right amount of showmanship for the "club-y" ambience (which may make it less popular with a female clientelle, given we counted just two ladies in the dining room). Anywyay, for our merry band of three gents, we got what we wanted - a great meat-lover's great experience.

Excellent! Filet, German potatoes

Excellent! Filet, German potatoes and Mac n cheese were very good; service was also very good. Worth the $

Excellent. Highly recommend

Whole experience was amazing. Jumbo shrimp cocktail and baked clams were delicious for starters and the porterhouse steak just melted in your mouth. Ten out of ten!!

Pretty much the best Steak House in NYC!

By Nico J |

Pretty much the best Steak House in NYC! We have been at Royal 35 Steakhouse for a company dinner with around 35 people and each and everyone of us enjoyed their food. Starters had been great, Steak was awesome and the service was terrific! Some of us have visited the place already in the past and shared the same experience for a single visit as well. I highly recommend the Filet with some Spinach. Be assured you will not be disappointed!

Amazing Steaks, drinks and remarkable service

By Patrick from NYC |

Special night out with the increase in allowed occupancy in NYC. Tables properly spaced in the large and warm dining room. New York strip and Filet Mignon as good as it gets at the very best steak houses then add in strong/well made drinks and warm, family-like first class white table cloth service. Top of night with in-house made orange butter cake for the finale - just amazing Sat night.

Waste of time

There are no meat snacks on the menu, just fish. Small selection of dishes on the menu. Steaks are tough, meat doesn't taste good. The service wasn't good either.

One of the best steaks I've ever had

By John A |

I split the Porterhouse for 2 (but you can get it for even 3 or 4!!). Ordered it medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. The house-made steak sauce I only tried towards the end so as not to take away from the steak as it came out of the kitchen - but the steak sauce did add some extra flavor. Kept the sides simple - steamed broccoli and potatoes. Wine list is very good although hard to find a real "value" on it. Will absolutely return!

Great Meal!

Royal 35 is the perfect place for dinner with a friend or a hot date. Adam gave us a corner table for four even though we were only two. The food is absolutely delicious and they are super willing to accommodate any substitutions. They let me switch around chicken and shrimp and vanilla and chocolate. The waiter was incredibly helpful while we were ordering and offered many drink options when we weren’t able to choose (thanks Ash)! Sheriff makes a killer whiskey smash! We cannot wait to come back!

Simply the Best!

We’ve been to many restaurants in the US and several in other countries and this is our top of the list #1 in the world of our experiences. The hospitality, the food, the service, the warmth…. really really exceptional.

Good food, impossible NOISE

By Peter T |

We will not return to Royal 35 because the level of noise makes a good meal an uncomfortable experience. The food was very good and priced on a par with other steakhouses in NY. But the level of noise in the dining room was outrageous. My wife and I had to use our “outside voices” (read shout) to hear each other. I don’t know if the other people in the room were drunk and unable to control the volume of their conversations or were merely shouting to make themselves heard. It’s a pity because the fook was top quality.

Good steak but definitely not the best steakhouse in NYC

By Harald Winzer |

Old style Steakhouse. Good service, good steaks, but I had definitely better ones in NYC. We had 2 Bone-in Ribeye Steaks and the Filet Mignon, both medium. The Filet Mignon was perfect, the Ribeyes not. The side dishes were mashed potatoes, baked potato, cream spinach and corn. All good, but not exceptional. The service was very good and fast. Overall we paid $ 400 for 3 people, which is expansive but normal for such a restaurant. For sure it is amongst the top 20 Steakhouses in MYC, but for me it is not amongst the top 10.

Excellent food and staff!

This restaurant was down the street from our hotel. The reviews were really good on it so I thought we would try it. The food and service far surpassed the reviews that I had read. We had filet mignon, veal chops. loaded baked potatoes, creamy mashed potatoes. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly for my husband. Perfectly seared on the outside & very tender and med rare on the inside . He loved it! My veal chop was so tender and delicious, lightly seasoned and cooked in oil. I absolutely loved it! The Loaded baked potato had “big chunks” of smoked ham in it. Wonderful! That might’ve been the best baked potato ever. We were going to order dessert…. celebrating my husband‘s birthday and they brought us a wonderful butter cake with ice cream and another glass of wine! Totally unexpected And appreciate! The service is first class. All the servers were very attentive and made the evening all the more special. I think this might have been one of the best steakhouse dinners we’ve ever had!

To flee...!

One of the worst burgers I’ve eaten, even the worst! Steak overcooked, onion roughly cut and not cooked, tasteless bread! The room is old and sleazy...exorbitant price for quality!

Must visit while in NYC!!

By David J |

Amazing restaurant! My wife and I ordered a fillet and a porterhouse. Both were delicious and came out at the perfect temperature. The sides were as good as the steaks. To top it all off we got the orange cake for desert and it was amazing! The sweet wine at the end was a very nice surprise! We met Adam and Sherif, two of the three partners and they were both amazing hosts. We’ll be sure to visit every time we’re in NYC!!

best meal we had in NYC

By armagh222 |

8 of us visited Royal 35 for our last supper in NYC ...........we were disappointed the restaurant was very busy but we were greeted with a smile . everyone got steak mains and thought the meat quality and cooking was super . it has to be one of the best steaks i have had the pleasure to eat . yes it is expensive but for the quality and overall enjoyment sometimes price goes out the window

Food was delicious! Portions were generous, and staff was very professional. Four thumbs up!

By janet g |

The food was excellent, and the service was very professional. We both had a super meal. He had the filet and I had the rack of lamb with a wonderful Bordeaux by the glass. We started with the very generous pour of Prosecco.
