Tasty, worth trying for a quick lunch, if you want to sit go to the other two locations, because this one doesn't have seats. I recommend you add a little cream cheese to cover the flavor of the salmon.

Ordered some appetizers for Passover. Some were good, such as the horseradish. But the gefilte fish was a group thumb's down with comments such as "worst ever" and disgusting. It has a weird consistency -- like gelatin versus flakey. As bad as the stuff in the jar is, you would be much better off with that than this stuff. Or get it from Meal Mart.

We went to try the brewery at the Navy Yard and the highlight ended up being the Russ & Daughters bagel shop. Maybe it was that the bagel was hot, freshly made or the quality of the smoked salmon, whatever it was it was the best bagel we've had in NY and that's saying something because we've had a lot of bagels. It was pretty pricey for the smoked salmon/scallion & cream cheese/everything bagel but the customer service and their attention to detail making sure there is plenty of salmon on the bagel beat the "whatta you have?" place we normally go to where nothing is measured and my bagel is never hot. Try them.

The menu showcases well-considered revisions of "appetizing" classics. The vibe and decor are welcoming and the service top-notch. My pal and I had the whitefish salad with wasabi-infused roe. Perfect with their excellent coffee. This is a place native New Yorkers and visitors alike can enjoy. Prices are a bit high and portions a bit modest, but quality is so high it's good value. Enjoy!

Lousy service, eggs seemed the type you’d get on a flight, very small portions. Seemed that no manager was on premises: the kitchen was playing loud music (very unpleasant).

Great place for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Loved the interior, the service and of course the food. This is a real bagel paradise, and I enjoyed every single bite. The cafe gets really busy so it would be wise to make a reservation.

Haven’t been back here since the pandemic but this place ranks high on the places to go again. Food is great and consistent and even the online gift baskets are top notch

This was one of the iconic bagel places that we wanted to try on our recent visit to New York. We had to queue for a bit to get served but it was worth the wait. We opted for the classic Lox bagel which had Nova salmon, scallion cream cheese, onion, tomato and capers on an everything bagel. It was delicious. The quality of the salmon in particular was very good. Tip - if you see a line outside, go inside and grab a ticket. A lot of the people were queueing outside and then grabbing a ticket on entry but we noticed the locals would just walk in, grab a ticket and then wait outside until their number was called. You can see the ticket number board from outside clearly.

Is it unkind to drop a star because of unfamiliarity with the ordering system…. Very confusing for a non-local. We had done a bit of research before coming to NYC and as Katz and Russ & Drs are so close either would have been in the plans. A huge queue for Katz sent us here. You still have to wait until your ticket is called but it’s so fascinating to see how everything is prepared to order. We had two sorts of bagel with different types of smoked salmon and cream cheese. They were both astounding and worth the price. The cookie though is a cake! Never mind, this visit was a memorable part of our long weekend.

Yes, take your ticket to the left when you enter & DO NOT lose it! No, there is no place to sit - but the cafe is not far around the corner if you prefer a place to sit down at. Yes, you will wait - a while! But it is ALL worth it! I have never seen so much much delicious choice in salmon & it is beautiful. I was instructed by a local: Wait - patiently, savour the experience, soak in the atmosphere. Order a bagel - with cream cheese (a few varieties on offer), Scottish salmon, red onion, tomato & a half sour pickle (the pickle of your dreams). Then - eat slowly & enjoy every delicious mouthful! When you finish (if you come from far away), you will tear up as the reality dawns upon you that you will never, ever have a bagel & lox as delicious as that!

Loved the feel at this classic bagel stop. Great atmosphere and a great bagel! Got the fully loaded with sturgeon was fantastic! Loved the customers here as well.

I decided to ask the flight attendant on the flight to the airport. I wanted to compare it with other salmon bagels. It was well listed in the advance information, but I couldn't decide, so this was helpful. It was a short walk from the station to the airport, but there was no explanation when I entered, so I was at a loss as to what to do at first. After watching the situation for a while, it seems that you take a ticket and are called in order to order. It's quite expensive. There was no place to eat inside the store, so I ate it in a nearby park. It's not something I would rave about, but it was pretty tasty.

It is absolutely the best bagels I have ever had in my life, I ordered the smoked salmon with capers and the most special thing was the cream cheese with caviar, the quality and flavors of the bagel are unmatched, the best in New York

Get there BEFORE you are starving, because you'll need to take a number and wait a while, but the food will be worth it. They really put time and craft into cutting your lox and making your sandwich. So so good!

Wonderful! Long wait for your food but worth it! Pick a bagel offering they suggest or create your own. Nice! Had one of their own creations that featured Gaspe Nova Smoked Salmon and Wild Alaskan Salmon Roe. Along with all the other features such as cram cheese and onions. Wow. Fabulous. So many things I wanted to take with me. I just took some smoked peepers mackerel. Nice light flavor. Love it. Take it and go find a spot to eat. Joy!! While you wait you have time to expire all the choices and offerings. Lots here!

While visiting in NYC last week, my wife and I went for breakfast. She ordered the lox and eggs, I ordered the sturgeon and eggs. While fine and okay portion size, between small flakes of fish and onions that were limp but not caramelized, I wasn’t impressed. It being Hanukkah, we thought we would bring a couple of sufganiyot (jelly donuts) with us. When told they couldn’t be taken out we assumed that meant they were fresh made and wouldn’t travel well so decided to order. Alas they were cold and not much different from what you might get from the corner donut shop except the price (2 for $9). We also took some rugelach with us which the kids didn’t like and wouldn’t eat, and which I again thought were just average. Hopefully it was just an off day (I’ve had better there in the past) but I’ll probably head elsewhere for my lox/bagels/eggs fix next time I’m in town.

Cleverly worded menu with superb traditional NY foods, we shared a Smoked Salmon Bagel with all the trimmings... Good service and enjoyable

Cannot comment on the restaurant in person but there was no other way to convey my experience with ordering/shipping from here. Short story…..brother is very sick, wanted to send matzo ball soup (our mother made it for us all the time). Found Russ and Daughters and ordered. The shipping was FIFTY FIVE dollars! That’s for a bowl of soup that was $15. OK….wanted him to have it. Couldn’t get it delivered right away. Ordered Friday and it was finally delivered LATE Tuesday night. I’m hoping the soup was good. If it isn’t, you will hear from me again, Russ and Daughters!

The Lox & Bagel was out of this world. I wish we had one in Lafayette, La.. If we had one I would be in this store all the time. I wish I could have brought one of everything home.

We enjoyed breakfast at Russ & Daughters on Saturday morning. Great and special Jewish food, very good service and great atmosphere. Longer wait line after 10:00 am.

If you're interested in great food and service in the great lower east side of Manhattan, you must visit this establishment. All I'll say is you must eat here and you must order the halves ice cream. Very highly recommended.

came here for lunch with my wife on a snowy day. No queue to sit down and service was friendly and at a good speed. Menu was full of childhood memories and we went for smoked salmon bagel and potato latkas. They arrived nice and quickly and oh my word were nice. How to make fried latkas this nice I don't know but wow! same for the salmon that was so tasty! all reasonably priced and i'd be delighted to go back!

If you want the best smoked salmon (lox) you can eat , visit Russ & Daughters! There are probably 12 varieties of lox - each delicious and assorted other smoked fishes like baked salmon, sable, white fish and sturgeon to choose from too. All of exceptional quality. Don’t forget the herring and picketed lox! ! Top it off with a traditional Bobka or Rugelah or some other sweets and you’ll agree you’ve been to Lox Heaven.

This was the ‘wow’ surprise of our trip. We had eaten at many great places in NYC, this one took the Gaspe Nova. The ambiance of an old diner (modernized), the staff were amazing, and the food was incredible. I settled in for the Classic, along with the latkes. YUM! Worth the wait (and their system is perfect via text which gives you time to explore the neighbourhood). Will go again.

Very good selection of smoked fish. I came for the bagel and lox. The salmon had a great flavor and was very fresh. Some of the best I have ever had. In addition, I sampled the Irish salmon and the kippered salmon. Both tasted incredible.

Their famous bagel is very expensive, but the salmon is quality and fresh. Not only does the place serve bagels, it's also delicacies and you can buy groceries and home food (expensive). No seating area! Just a bench outside the store

Was recommended by a friend who used to live in NYC and am glad he did! A great experience, well-priced and great food! Only downside is that it can get quite crowded (we went twice) and you may have to wait 15 or so minutes if you go during lunch hours. Also, they only have a two benches outside to eat at. But it was all worth-it!

We visited this place early in the morning and it was already pretty crowded and for very good reasons. It offers a great variety of bagels with the freshest ingredients! Salmon was out of the world! Definitely try it!

Traditional food, high quality, very tasty, gourmets will love it! Been several times at their store on Houston, always a pleasure, always good stuff...try the tuna salad on rye or salmon bagels, superb!

I meandered into this shop by recommendation from the waitress at Russ & Daughters Cafe down the street. Yes I had already eaten, but I needed to find out what else this company also had at their walk in shop! Its a sight, a wonderful sight of Jewish delicacies! Smoked fish, herrings, spreads, meats, cheeses, dried fruits and caviar!

crowded all the time, which should be enough to walk out, if not for the ambiance, the interior design and... the eggs ! Oh my god the eggs and salmon !

A diamond in a less pristine part of NYC - we came here for breakfast on recommendations from friends. I had the eggs w/ lox - delicious. My mother "doesn't like fish," but reports that the french toast was the best she's ever had! Everyone loved their breakfast. Bathrooms were clean. We didn't feel rushed, though we did wait 35 minutes for a table on a Thursday morning.

They have the widest selection of top quality appetizing you will ever find. They are not cheap, but they provide the best

Russ and Daughters is one of those "must visit" NYC institutions, according to websites and guidebooks. We rocked up on a Saturday morning and the place was heaving. I got the impression that a lot, possibly the majority of the customers when we were there, were, like us, visitors. The system is you take a numbered ticked and wait for them to call your number, you order and they make up your order. We opted for cream cheese and smoked salmon. There is a good choice of types of bagel types and the coffee is fine. Overall, the wait to order, when we were there, was a downside but the food was OK.

What is there to say that hasn’t already been said about this Lower East Side institution? Great apps, bagels, bialys… Just go.

Still offers best assortment of appetizers, herrings are fantastic . All foods are extremely well prepared and with the weight(?) wait

Similar to Katz, this place is a deep part of NYC. You gotta come here at least once. Don’t just get a bagel, look around and try some of their treats too.

Great place to get traditional New York bagel and lox with cream cheese. It’s little pricey but worth it. The selection of fish is great and they are very generous with salmon. There is no room to sit inside but you can go to Washington park which is 2 min away.

Totally worth the hour long wait on a busy Saturday morning. Fresh chewy bagels, best smoked salmon I have tasted. Had Scottish on wholewheat with capers and cream cheese. Yummmmm!

Hands down the best smoked salmon bagels I've ever tried - a real New York experience that everyone should try

You simply must come here when in NYC. If you're staying in LSE then it should be criminal not to. The smoked salmon here is incredible. Yes you have to wait but yes 45 mins is worth it. Just do what we did and grab some bloody marys round the corner whilst you wait...once inside the servers will tell you all you need to know about the different salmon options and what cream cheese goes best etc etc. We tried lots of samples and then left it to our servers expert opinion on four different combos to try between us. They were so good!

We were initially going to Kat'z deli, but seeing the line, we opted for a bagel at Russ and daughters located next door. After waiting about twenty minutes, we had bagels with sesame bread, horseradish cream cheese, gravelax salmon and capers. It was excellent and very plentiful, very quality products. Price-wise, it's New York, count 40USD for 2. Go for it !

Was really excited about going to Russ & Daughters did not disappoint. We got one of the more modern bagels that was tuna and wasabi roe and the classic of lox and cream cheese. Both so good with good coffee and a sweet treat on a side. So would recommend getting something from the bakery with your bagel. Also, feels like you have gone back in time in the best possible way with getting your ticket and not changing the interior. Went around 11 and line was only 5-10 minute wait, so not bad at all.

Russ and Daughters was packed! Original I was hoping to go to Katz Deli, but the line stretched the whole block! So, I headed for Russ and Daughters. I had to wait 30 minutes crammed with over 30 people in the small deli. The food was worth it though. The food was expensive but the bagel lived up to it. I recommend if you’re willing to wait.

We went here for their famous smoked salmon dishes. The place looks like a fancier version of a classic american diner so the atmosphere there is quite nice. We tried the mushroom and cheese omlette and the smoked salmon bagels. Everything was delicious and the staff was really friendly. Good choice for an early breakfast.

Great lunch following a tour at the Tenement museum. Perfect history and location. So much to enjoy and loved seeing families of all ages

I feel like we researched forever what would be the one bagel place to go to If we could only go to one. This is where we ended up. The classic lox and cream cheese was as amazing as advertised. We ordered ahead online which was key since the line was out the door.

The sandwiches here are excellent. The bagel with salmon and caviar is absolutely sublime! It is a must-try for anyone looking for the New York culinary experience.

We were there on a Saturday afternoon so they were tons of people. I don’t know when will be a good time to go. The line moved pretty slow, i’d say 2 minutes per queue. But there was a QR code which you can order for pickup. It’s a lot faster. So we ordered and paid online took about 15-20 mins. A LOT FASTER! But I mean the fresh ones might be better. Anyhow, I don’t feel like it’s different from any other bagels. It’s doesn’t hurt to go try but don’t expect much. PS. 1 queue per 1 person. So if there’s 3 person in your group, take 3 numbers.

My daughter and I went here two mornings in a row. The bagels were outstanding, the staff members were friendly, helpful, and courteous and it didn’t take long for the bagels to be ready after we placed our order. There is seating available, including stools that line the windows on two sides—great for people watching.

Just had $100 of goods from Russ and daughters .... All stale goods.. never again Russ and daughters

Wednesday lunchtime and the place was virtually full. But thy found us a table pretty quickly. Service with a smile from our waitress followed by good food! It is a little pricey-but as I keep saying-Hey! That's New York.

Authentic! Take a look around and you will feel like you have seen this place in a movie or on tv ( that’s because you probably have). Bagels, lox, rugalah and smears are all excellent! I’ll try the Black and White’s on the next trip!

Russ & Daughters came to my attention during my research for NYC. As I'm sure it has yours. If I was visiting New York for the first time, then I would want to try here. The bagels are made fresh. The bagel fillings are no doubt some of the finest and freshest in NYC. They even have European salmon, which i found impressive. The bagel it's self was excellent. Pastrami salmon, who knew that was a thing? I didn't.. With Goats cheese cream cheese, again since when was this a thing..I'm not sure, nor do I care, they made for one helluva bagel. Service was slow but rightly slow. I would hate to visit in the height of the summer, when it's busy.

Let me start by saying that I didn't know the place but I was struck by it when I passed by after a visit to the more famous Katz's Deli. The external and internal appearance is captivating, vintage, as soon as you enter you seem to be catapulted into another era with a display of both salmon, herring and smoked fish, dried fruit and sweets. We tried the chocolate Babka, costing 18 dollars, but sublime in appearance and flavor - I repeat - from times gone by and a cinnamon slice that was equally good but, obviously, a little less tasty. It's definitely worth the visit. Ps the clerk in the sweets department was very nice and since he didn't have change he even saved us a few cents 😃

We stopped here after Kate’s to pick up a bagel for much later. We were happy to see there was almost no wait and that there were clear regulars shopping as well. The classic bagel was delicious and held up well til we were able to eat it a couple of hours later. Prices were good and service was excellent.

This was our first time visiting and Daniel was very helpful and kind to us. We are from Puerto Rico and he talk to us in spanish and gave us great recommendations. The bagels are amazing and the service is superb.

I ordered through Goldbelly for my husband’s birthday and everything arrived perfectly packaged on time and fresh. Everything has been delicious and it has been like a trip to NYC during COVID. Thanks Russ and Daughters.

Great food at a great, historical place. Had no trouble accessing it as a wheelchair user either. You will need to wait a little as it is so popular, but def worth it

I made a purchase online. They gave me a wrong product. They refused to acknowledge that and were telling me that it is the same. 0 customer service.

Nice brunch once we got in. We were told 40 minutes was the wait, which was tolerable, but ended up being 90 minutes. Can see why it is popular though. Lovely food and superb ambience.

Took a chance when the lineup was too long at Katzs'. There was a line here too but saw a seat at the bar and nabbed it straight off. Top notch service. Bloody Mary, Smoked Salmon and Latkes were all great.

I finally got a seat at the bar I expected it to be very busy as it was the Christmas week. The menu is quite basic and very expensive for what it is, which is basically a cafe with very nice decor. I had the scrambled eggs with salmon which was nice but then again it should be at nearly $25. I wouldn't visit again as there are many other places to discover.

Herring, caviar, bagels and lox. Tasty and nicely presented, the restaurant presents a cornucopia of popular Jewish food.

With all the publicity and good reviews - I was hoping that it would all add up. BUT after finding the location, we were very disappointed to find out that it was not Kosher. This is something that they should clearly state, before schlepping to the establishment. This jewish style restaurant is as useless as a pub without no beer! A complete waste of time, and a place to avoid.

We were in at 11:30 on a Saturday. Took 75 min in line, which is a bit rough... gaspe salmon on an onion bagel, with chive cream cheese king salmon on an onion bagel, plain cream cheese, red onion Bagels were good. king salmon was great, gaspe was amazing. Also picked up some herring in cream, which my wife assures me was incredibly well done. All together, it was around $35. It's worth going once, for the experience, but it definitely wasn't worth waiting 75 minutes in a cramped space. 20 min, maybe?

A Jewish deli should not serve a chintzy sandwich! This beloved take out stand is historic but I say, go elsewhere. There were at most 2 layers of smoked sturgeon, and this delicate fish is lost among the bagel and cream cheese. My recollection is that past sandwiches were more ample. A one-hour wait at off-peak hours does not help.

If there is a heaven on Earth, it is Russ and Daughters. I moved from NY area six years ago and treat myself to shipping it twice a year. But every time I go back to NY it is my first stop. Every time. Best belly lox on earth. Best matjes herring in America. And the mustard dill herring. Wow.

Pick a number at the entrance. The dimples salmon bagel is great but almost 20 bucks for it is really high. I know it’s Manhattan but still…

I worked at a bagel shop in high school. I know bagels and lox. This is the best I've ever had. The reason is because they are so busy that the fish is brought in daily.

What an iconic and fantastic little place. From the bagels to pastries, all are delicious. They have a ridiculously large assortment of everything you need to have the perfect meal. So many different fish, breads, olives, salads, I could go on and on. This is a must go to place in NYC for the best of everything.

I received $300 of food yesterday Through Goldbelly. The creme fraiche had expired 3/17/2021. The lakes are watery and tasteless. The bully's are average at best. I can't report how the rest of the order is because I haven't got to it yet. I will never order from them again.

Got some amazing Smoked Scottish salmon, few bagels and some chocolate everything was delicious and I would definitely come back here again next time I'm in NYC

This review if for the store. We have been going to this wonderful establishment for at least 30 years, the quality never varies. This was our first time since the virus hit and the only thing that has changed is that there is a three person limit in the store at one time. My personal favorite is the Western Nova it is light, delicate, pure flavor, not a hint of grease. This is not cheap at 50 bucks a pound but it is worth every penny. This time I tried the New Zealand King Salmon and it is as good as the Western Nova but in a different way, its texture is finer and the smoky overtones are a bit stronger. So from now on I will be ordering at least half-a-pound of each they are equally good. Don't forget the cream cheese with scallions! After you have some of their Western Nova (or any of their others they are all superb) you will realize that what you have been eating as 'lox' was a pale imitation of this, the essence of lox. As their sign says "In Lox Veritas". They have an extensive selction of other items, to be sure, but the lox is why I go here. If you are living some distance away may I suggest that you take a cooler, buy what you want, and take it home with you. Enjoy!

Nice decor, staff dressed smartly and very polite. The service was a bit slow but the quality of the food made up for the wait.

My #1 breakfast stop whenever we visit NYC and this morning was no different. Fresh bagels and smoked salmon with cream cheese, capers, and onions. Six family members ate and we all rate them a 10 out of 10. Tip - Get there before they open as the line will be a block long if you wait, but it’ll be worth it.

The smoked fish is outstanding. The bagels are garbage. The service matches the bagels. Hard to imagine charging $18 for a bagel that’s 2 days old but they find a way.

This morning I came to this petit charmant shop for breakfast with a friend. It was a surprise, very good. My friend had the chocolate babka French toast. Fantastic! Rich and decadent. I had the lower sunny side.... the potato latkes were so very great. And the smoked salmon was fresh, and delicious. The manager was nice- came over to say hello. Will definitely return! En Un mot: génial

Perfect. However if you are looking for different flavors of bagels this is not the place. They only have 3 flavors. No cinnamon raisin. The coffee cups are small but the refill service is great.

The wait is long, but oh so worth it! It also gave us time to chat in line with local regulars who gave us some great tips (“Get the Scottish salmon and you have to try the babka, better even than my gramma's!”) We got the lox on a garlic bagel with scallion cream cheese and the works, German potato salad, pickles, and pickled herring... and savored every single bite of them all!

I visited as part of a DIY food tour, this being one of the oldest bagel and smoked fish shops in the neighborhood, AND a rare instance where a family business passed from a father to his DAUGHTERS and succeeded, especially in a time when only the men worked in the family business! Oh my, the bagels are good(I can't say the best - I am from Montreal!), and the smoked salmon and shmears are super-tasty! The wait may be long, but the staff here work fast, and build a generous and yummy sandwich right before your eyes. Just take the wait time to peruse the other tasty things in the shop - candies and dried fruits, pastries, all the making for a decent picnic. I highly recommend the hot-n-cold smoked salmon spread, and any flavour of rugelach - heck, go for the assorted pack and try them all! I was a little put off by the price, though, and realized that those generous portions of spreads and shmears are all charge BY WEIGHT...So when 2 sandwiches and a dozen pastries comes out to $42, I think twice about returning. Just sayin'.

We went to the one located at the Jewish Museum on a Sunday morning, it wasn’t busy yet and we got seated right away. The decor is beautiful and the staff very friendly, service was prompt and the food excellent!

So good I now order online and have shipped! Don’t miss the classic bagels, cream cheeses and lox. Black and whites are take-home worthy on the plane. Located close to Katz - both are worth the journey!

We were on the 34th street. Very helpful staff. Brought lox with everything on, it was a good breakfast. Fresh and do not miss all the letters in the toilet. If you feel like Swedish liquorice, there is Pike to buy on the bag for 8 dollars.

Went for breakfast and had to order the Classic Lux Bagel, smoked salmon, plain cream cheese, plain bagel, with onion and capers, absolutely amazing, best smoked salmon I’ve ever had.

If It's your first time, and you came for the story or the atmosphere so go ahead, take the beagle & Lux (nice verity) and that's that… nice and tasty but not much different from a lot of other Delis… the old lower east side charm is long gone, so there is not much sense going there specially and pay that much.

Got here 5 mins after opening time and there was already a line up of maybe 8 people. Luckily we didn't have to wait too long though. You take a ticket at the door so you have time to look at the menu and shop and decide what you want. The classic bagel was good. Don't know if I'd wait an hour for a bagel, but it was delicious.

What's not to like? Lox belly King Salmon on a bagel with scallion cream cheese. Yum! No double yummy! Expensive yes, but doesn't get better than this!

Ok. Here for a bucket list adventure. Been to NYC many times. Wanted to go for Xmas. Rockefeller tree, Macy windows and shopping… yep all there. Also went to places that were not tourist oriented as was the modus operandi in the other NYC trips. We went to Russ and Daughter as the original Liz and bagel spot in NYC. So here goes… took a number and waited outside got 2 seconds and realized … his the heck would I know my number was called, So i went in… well crowd….ed yep crowded. First bloody tip… put the numbers on the outside window too… who wants to breathe on top of each other. It was crowded… then I went in and was bounced around… pushing me to the end of restaurant. Okay…. That was 1050am. By 1130 I was 30 away from my 2 lox and bagel… sandwiches. 1145 my number gif called 729…. And I regurgitated my order… 15 minutes later 12 pm ish my sandwiches were ready at 40 dollars. Thus is just a take out joint.. I finally too a bite… let me say… all the sandwiches I had in this genre was left behind. Not even close. Fresh, delicious and tasty… omg… I will never see lox and b the same. Can not wait to eat there again… next year gif sure… A

Heard about this from an old Anthony Bourdain show about old New York restaurants. It is amazing and gets quite full. The classic bagel is to die for, as well as the potato Latkes. You can even order online because my son had it sent to SFO.

My sweet daughter sent me a loaf of Chocolate Babke from Russ & Daughter's through Goldbelly. It was dry and had an off-putting flavor. I threw the whole loaf away after the first slice. Terrible!!

Small place but extremely busy. Take a number and wait to be called. My husband hates lines and usually never gets in one, he waited over an hour at Russ & Daughters to buy some of their smoked salmon, it's that good. A real treat when we get into NYC maybe once or twice a year. Also bought a loaf of cinnamon Babka. Makes the best french toast! Their bagels are also fantastic.

Russ & Daughters' Delight is a 1914 American classic about a young girl who loves to cook. Daughters Delight is a 1914 American classic about a young girl who loves to cook. Mensch is a famous German cook who loves to cook. Extra special wasabi noodles and noodles!! I'm not sure if the police are doing this or not, but I'm sure they'll be doing it again soon. I'm not sure if the police are doing this or not, but I'm sure they'll be doing it again soon!

Crazy beagles then salmon! Choice of different sauces and salmon from super connoisseurs for those who know how to choose! Atmosphere of other times.

We visited the Manhattan West branch when we were staying around the corner at The Pendry. Superb bagels. We went at lunch time and had a 30 minute wait, but it was worth it!

Alright, all the rah-rah about this place boosted the expectations sky high. But the lox bagel was very close to perfection, the only element missing was some klezmer music in the background. We took a pumpernickel bagel with veggie spread as “dessert” and it did its job as well. Surely worth the wait, just remember to take the number first thing when you get in this place!

This place is an institution, don’t feel sick at breakfast, 😂 there are so many good things to eat and discover In addition, the family history is hung on the walls. Not to miss

I expected more of this East European food. I had the 3 herring plate which was good, but not excellent. for sure I'll be back

The title of my post says it all. There is nothing (nothing) special about the food here. The bagel with lox and cream cheese is presented in a slightly fancy way, on a wooden board, but you could do the same with a hot dog, the taste doesn't change. I've had really fresh tasting lox (in Iceland and Newfoundland, CA) and this was far from that. Tastes the same as any NYC deli. This is a tourist trap. The wait staff wears goofy white jackets like it's the Beverly Hills Hotel in the 1950's but, mind you, the staff is different every day. The same wait staff is likely to work at Starbucks or anywhere else they can get a half decent wage while hustling for their real gig on the side. There is nothing special about this place, it's like going to the CBGB cafe in Newark airport. Go there if you must for the instagram photo, then promise yourself you won't be such a yutz again.

We loved our trip to Russ and daughters, and thought it was well worth the queue. Not the cheapest breakfast place in town, but well worth it for a treat on our last day in town. Thoroughly enjoyed the smoked salmon and plain cream cheese bagel.

The bagels we ate from Russ and Daughters were worth every minute of waiting! There was a solid line but it went fairly quickly. Standing inside, waiting for your food was an experience in and off itself. Fascinating to learn about the different types of fish/ salmon they have there. My daughter said “ I never knew a bagel could taste like that. Soo Delicious!”

Absolutely delicious bagels and you must try the Whitefish and baked salmon salad. Pumpernickel bread is something new for us and we loved it. Great selection of smoked fish and different types of cream cheeses! Plus much much more!

When in NYC for the first time visiting make sure you go here and try their bagels. Take a number. Don’t mind the queue as the wait is well worth it. While waiting try the strawberry licorice or the chocolate coated halva bar.

My wife arrived early and was the third person in line. Due to COVID only there are allowed inside at a time. We purchased a variety of their bagels and creams and loved them all. My personal favorite was the Russ & Daughters classic. Yummy! I HIGHLY recommend a visit for yourself.

Best bagel of my life! They have several options: with onion, salmon, plain, pumpkin seed. Most fillings take fish, but you can opt for cream cheese. I tried the tuna salad, which is a paté. Unforgettable! Too worth it! The Jewish tmb sweets are very good. We caught a babka from crying of so good

Here delicious breakfast with also good gluten-free options to eat. Definitely recommended for a nice breakfast in NY

The shop looks very nice, but the plain bagel was a little “bready” for me, i prefer a chewy bagel. I had the wild scottish salmon which tasted good, and the cream cheese with scallions. Its overpriced $15 for the bagel that I have just mentioned. But its filling.

We went to the deli not the sit down. It is organised yet bustling. Notably the quality of food is exceptional as is the service -shout out to Jake who perfected the shmear!!! The dried fruit and even the Turkish delight (Likum) adds to the authenticity and the yumminess!

The best bagels, lox and dry fruits! We will revisit again soon! We ordered a few different tasty bagels to go as well! This is a jewel deli!

Yes, it’s a crazy long wait most of the time (don’t be surprised if you’ve to wait for an hour), but the bagels are very very good. Not sure if I’d go again giving the wait, but everyone should try it at least once

there were 50 people ahead of us waiting to be served. We waited 45 minutes to be served. It was worth the wait. The smoked salmon and saber were worth the wait. I would also recommend the pickles that they sell.

I went here during a long weekend in NYC. I ordered the traditional lox bagel sandwich (smoked salmon, capers, cream cheese on an everything bagel). You generally have to pick a number and wait, perhaps up to 30 minutes. But I was able to get my bagel sandwich very quickly. How? Simple. I went online on their website about half an hour before arriving and ordered the sandwiches. When I arrived. I went to the back, and the manager promptly handed me my bagels in bag after saying my name. My recommendation is if you don’t want to do the traditional pick a number, order then wait, place an order in advance online. There is no sit down cafe here so you either have to go to a park bench nearby or find another sit down place.

Best Smoked Salmon! Even if you don't like smoked salmon, you will like theirs! Mainly a take out place, but when its noice they have a couple of tables outside where you can sit. Though I haven't been I hear the Russ and Daughters Cafe is great if you want to have a sit down meal and its great for brunch!

No place better for fresh lox on a bagel! Whether it is pickles, herring, caviar, baked farmer's cheese - any traditional appetizer you are seeking you will find it, love it, and return to Russ & Daughters. Get there early because the lines are slow, but that is because each customer is given attention as if they are the only customer in the place. Personalized service and pure quality.

Got here at 10 am on Saturday. I took my ticket and I had 20 ahead of me. Somehow it only took 15 minutes. The ladies and gentlemen behind the counter are fast and friendly & they move very fast on calling numbers so stay close. Ordered the Everything Bagel, Gaspe Nova, Scallion cream cheese and tomato. One of the best bagel sandwiches I’ve ever had. Charming and narrow/small spot. Unfortunately they were out of Latkes and didn’t restock before I ordered-next time. Bourdain (R.I.P.) put it best-“Russ & Daughters occupies that rare & tiny place on the mountaintop reserved for those who are not just the oldest & the last-but the best.”

We chose this place to organize a picnic during our stay in New York and we were not disappointed! The ingredients are of excellent quality and the choice is very wide. We recommend it!

Short wait to get in , only allowed 5 people at a time.food is as good as always with very helpful staff to serve. Herring and their salty belly lox are still the best

DO NOT ORDER RUSS AND DAUGHTERS THRU GOLDBELLY!!!!! We received stale bagels and challah bread. Smoked Salmon was oily and smelled like rancid fish. We threw everything bout. Customer service at Goldbelly told me that there was nothing that they were willing to do about it. I WILL NEVER USE GOLDBELLY AGAIN!!!!

Always a must-do when I'm in the area. Lat time I arrived five minutes after they opened, and the line was already out the door. That should tell you something. Russ & Daughters may not get quite as much attention as some of the other eateries in the area, but it's been around for close to 100 years for good reason. Just about everything is outstanding, including and especially the bagels, no matter how you prefer them. One note: The black & whites are a bit too lemony for my taste, but others adore them.

Yes, this place is a little pricey, but the quality of the food means it is worth it. This was the best version of each thing we got there that we had during our recent visits to NYC. Don't pass up the opportunity to have some really excellent comfort food!

If you are visiting the tenement museum this is a must see. Bagels are tops — we bought many as gifts. Story of Russ and daughters and RBG inspiration is one to share! Representation matters

people very professional, the best smoked salmon money can buy, had with bagels from New Zealand and the special from Nova Scotia, fatty luscious, a real delicacy, a lot of nice cream cheeses, caviars and chocolates but simple and very concentrated to the core business. a landmark really

Saw this place on an episode of a Bourdain show. It was just as good as he said on the air. Amazing Lox at this place!

Wow. I walked 5 miles to get here so I would have an appetite. There is a wait to get served at the counter. There are no tables but there are two benches for three outside in the front of the store. You can select from about eight types of smoked salmon, a variety of fresh bagels, an assortment of cream cheeses. Potato pancakes, chopped liver and various fish and cream cheese spreads and array of smoked fish such as tuna, sable and others. I had a toasted everything bagel with plain cream cheese and Scottish smoked salmon (I asked for the least salty...and it was), an organic elderberry soda made on a farm and my first egg cream in 50 years since a other person ordering it said it’s the best I the city. I loved it although it’s not for everyone. This USA genuine highly regarded hole in the wall kind of establishment and delivers the goods. I almost forgot that I had a toasted bialy with butter, an all time favorite of mine. It was perfection!

Still best at what it does fish epically salmon and kippers are fantastic. Staff is friendly , fast and efficent. Very busy but worth the wait

Since moving from NY to Florida I have not been able to find good black and white cookies. So as a treat I ordered from Russ and Daughters through Goldbelly. The delivery process was smooth but we were so dissapointed in the B&W's. The frosting, which makes the cookie, literally had zero taste or flavor. Was literally like wax. We ended up throwing out over half the order they were not worth eating. We also ordered assorted Rhugelah which came to us stale. Never again

This place is in my work building. It's outrageously expensive, and the servers are surly at best. For a while, they charged $2.00 to use a credit card, so with a tip, a coffee was $8.00. Unless there are hurricane-like conditions outside, I will walk over to Washington Ave for coffee.

It was good, don’t get me wrong. But if we take a ticket and wait patiently outside for our number, then you yell to come inside if we have already have a number, then yell at us for crowding the door, what are we supposed to do? There’s gotta to be a better way and a more consistent process rather than telling us 2 different things. I’ll go back when it’s not crazy busy, whenever that is.

If you are a fish lover, then this particular shop is perfect for you! It is generally considered one of the most famous of the city and usually prevails the indivisible. Personally I don’t eat fish, when I didn’t go crazy, but being objective I can say that the level of the materials was very high. In the big plus the very friendly and helpful staff, the beautiful space and the great variety. The negative is the fact that if you don't eat fish there are no other options and prices are quite high. However, I highly recommend it!

First timers at Russ and Daughters and we will definitely be back! Service is friendly, the restaurant is clean and everyone looked happy to be there...because the food is fantastic! We ordered a board of salmon, bagels and the accompaniments, a jar of sours and the potato latkes. Best potato latkes we've ever had the pleasure to eat, so don't miss out on them!

We ate a late lunch here on a Monday and we were right away seated. This was our first time here and we had a great experience. The surgeon platter was delicious and the halva ice-cream with caramel sauce was very good too. If you like smoke fish, this is the place to go.

Such an iconic deli. Best bagel I’ve ever had, amazing quality ingredients and great service. Once you get your ticket, the queue can be around 30 mins at prime time but it’s worth it. A great experience! Thank you

These people know what they are doing and have excellent product. Be sure you know what you want to order or ask before your turn comes up. It is a busy place.

Very popular place. Packed when I went there the first time with my wife and son on a Sunday. Picked a number and told to wait 45 minutes. But we didn't wait. Came back just before lunch on a week day and ordered to go (it is a store so no where to sit). Fantastic bagel with cream cheese and gravlax. Apple strudel was almost as good as my uncle's (originally from Czechoslovakia). Disappointed with the chocolate babka. I had much better. The piece I had was very dry. My wife could not finish it, that bad.

Would I go again? Perhaps not. I can get a dry bagel, cream cheese and lox at quite a few places without waiting so long and for a few dollars less. It was a great wait though, trying to squeeze into the door, obtaining a ticket, meeting people from out of town/county, sharing why we were all there. There were even people who took tickets that were leaving so we were bumped up a few spaces. The system of serving and getting people out the door could be less convoluted but why not create a demand? Had coffee and a black and white cookie while I waited and my toes got ran over by a heavy cart full of latkes from a delivery truck parked in front. There was really no place for the cart to get from the front of the store to the back without running over a few people, its that cramped. Cookie was awesome though. I can certainly think of 100 things to do in NYC other than wait in line for a bagel.

This place has the best bagels and the fresh salmon I have ever tasted. This place is packed all the time but is worth the wait. The customer service is on point and the end product is the best. You must go there. My family loves it. Top food and top service. Amazing

Visited here on a recent visit to NYC. I have wanted to go for years and I’m really glad I did. What a smashing bagel, so tasty. Service was prompt and friendly. An NYC institution.

Can't say enough. If you like (LOVE) varieties of lox or herring, then you must go. Don't think, don't plan, just go. You will have the most thrilling varieties of lox from many locations, with topics and choices coming out of your ear. Get there with time to spare, pick a number, and wait. This is not a sit-down place. You get your order and there are a couple of benches for sitting. You can go around the corner on Orchard St and get a coffee while you wait. I recommend getting your sandwich open-face. If you want Russ & Daughters as a sit down place then go down the street to 127 Orchard St.

Popped in for a toasted ‘everything’ bagel with lox cream cheese. Bagel was good but too much cream cheese for my liking. Although there was a queue, a ticketing system means you don’t get missed out, there were about 8 people in front of me and I waited about 10 minutes.

It's hard to find bagels made the traditional way they have the right texture and toppings. This is exactly the bagel you been missing.

Went here today for a bagel Lox sandwich and Pastrami Cured Salmon. It was very delicious and worth the wait in line.

Person I was with unceremoniously and mistakenly cut ttr line. Took advantage and grabbed a half dozen Bagels and goat cream cheese for tomorrow’s breakfast after stopping by 7th street burger for a quick bite.

We originally went to the cafe which predicted a 45-60 minute wait. Knowing we were there for the salmon and whitefish, we declined the offer and went to the store. The store is all business and very helpful with ordering and packaging. It was the best made bagel with salmon and cream cheese I have ever had.

You would think it's a tourist trap judging by the lines outside the door, but, surprisingly it's not. A NYC institution that lives up to its name. Try coming here on a week day to avoid the lines!

Popped I here because of the dried fruit display in the window. This is a legit place for all things fine. Caviar, smoked fish, lox and bagels. The dried fruit was Uber fresh. The everything bagel with scallion cream cheese is unbeatable. We enjoyed the fruit as a snack for energy throughout the day we went back the next day for more.

My friend and I went to Russ and Daughters in the Jewish museum on the upper East side. We had a fairly long wait, and when we finally got to our table, we saw a number of empty tables, so we are not sure why we had to wait so long. But the barista was very nice and suggested some iced coffees to cool off while we waited--she was very nice and it was a good suggestion. When we finally sat down, the waiter was very attentive. I ordered the cold beet borscht and my companion ordered lox and bagels with cream cheese. The food was delicious, and my companion especially enjoyed the lox and bagels. We had a chance to catch up on our lives for a couple of hours. The big big downside is that they have upper East side prices and upper East side portions. Still, it's a place to go on rare occasions and I would definitely take a friend or companion with me--it's a bit of an upscale atmosphere. Just be sure to ask for the seat in the back in the corner if you want a quiet place to talk.

Russ and Daughters brings with it a wee bit of history and heritage, the 104 year old Jewish bagel shop stocks the midst alluring salmon variety. Get yourself a classic smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel. Visit in a weekday to avoid a queue.

Lunch stop, we searched it out as it is supposed to be one of the best. Mine was a cream cheese and salmon, boring but just right, not too much so not a huge mess squashing out. The cakes and doughnuts all looked unreal and we took away a couple of coconut macaroons for later. Try and get here if you can.

There are certain culinary experiences you need to explore on your visit to NYC! Russ and Daughters has become one of our city’s culinary treasures. If you go on a weekday, you probably won’t have to wait long but if you plan on visiting on a Saturday or Sunday, be prepared for a very long line! However it will be worth it!

This was an excellent place to start the day. We arrived at opening time, 8:30am, and the place was soon full of people. We ordered the classic plate of open bagel with salmon and cream cheese and the equivalent of hash browns. The food was superb and served very quickly. Our refillable coffees were also great. A super cool spot for breakfast.

The waiting time at this long established place is ridiculous. You have to grab a ticket from indoors and then wait outside until they eventually call your number. We waited nearly one hour to get service which is crazy for what is supposedly fast food! And whilst the smoked salmon/cream cheese bagels were very good, we have experienced better bagels elsewhere in the city.

We bought caviar from them on February 11 and the clerk told us it was mild and very good. He even said he would throw in a free spoon as a present for an upcoming birthday. Turns out there was a promo for valentines day, free spoon with purchase. So nice of that clerk to lie! When I called today to say that the caviar was awful, the woman said it was a very strong smelling roe. I asked her what we can do , I offered to bring it back but she told me their is nothing they would do. Shame on them!

My wife tried the chocolate french toast and the kids and I took the new york brunch. The food was very tasty and the service was prompt. We really liked the retro look of the restaurant and the jazz playing in the background.

Awesome vibe, awesome food, definitely worth the wait (which can be very long). The salmon bagel is to die for and makes for an awesome breakfast/bruch/lunch.

Went here based off lots of positive reviews (and staying nearby) and not disappointed. Tuesday morning so no queues, easy service and fast too. We both had smoked salmon in the wholegrain "everything" bagel (all the seeds) and the scallion cream cheese. Amazing. So fresh tasting, the bagel was toasted just enough to add some crunch but without taking the flavour away from the salmon. Overall very happy, just a tad pricey ($14 for a bagel).

In the area and stopped in for a bite to eat. Heard a lot about their what they had to offer. The food was very good, the service ok, The place was clean and well light. Some may think a little pricey, but what isn’t these days.

Don't order Russ & Daughters through Goldbelly!!! I ordered through them for a major holiday, selected their recommended dates to arrive in time for the holiday and it didn't arrive until the following week. NEVER AGAIN.

We first tried the much-lauded cafe of this Lower East Side institution on a Saturday afternoon but was told the wait for a table would be at least an hour. It was suggested that we head for the deli at 179 E Houston St. There we were greeted by a sign instructing us to take a number and stay put - not that anyone could move around anyway. Among those crowding into the limited space was a man who had come from Boston to stock up on Russ and Daughters produce. Our number was 47 - behind the counter it was all calm efficiency as six employees toiled away. You can choose from 15 bagel varieties, and 10 cream-cheese schmears (spreads). Then such fillings as salmon or tuna, sturgeon, and even chopped liver. The wait for our five bagels was about half an hour, which we then devoured in the small park opposite. A very NY experience.

This is a relatively new place, not the original on Houston St a couple blocks away. This is a busy and comfy restaurant with full bar. We ate at the bar, which I always like. Excellent bagels and smoked salmon, with great cream cheese and etc. Friendly place. Good cocktail. Short wait line on a busy Sat. morning. Exactly as advertised and just what I wanted.

Fantastic bagels at Russ & Daughters, very good salmon and excellent bagels. Myself I had a “Classic” with Everything Bagel, Smoked Salmon, Sauer Cream and Capers … just fantastic ! Get your number and buy it at the take away don’t go to the Russ & Daughters Cafe’ that is too “boogie” 😉

This was one of the best meals we had while visiting. I ordered the Lox, and my husband ordered the Sturgeon. High quality smoked fish. This place is very popular and very busy, and the staff does not work with any type of sense of urgency so expect to wait. If that is an issue for you, I would not recommend. I personally think it is worth the wait and will be back!

I read some good reviews about Russ and Daughters which made me curious because there’s a branch at Hudson Yards where I work. As a New Yorker I know my bagel, bialy and babka. I tried all three from Russ and Daughters last Friday and was sadly unimpressed. My raisin bagel was on the tough side, not chewy. I did like the delicate crisp skin and flavor. Bialy was good with the generous amount of tasty diced onions. Big disappointment was the chocolate babka which fell well below my expectations. It was no comparison to Oneg Heimishe’s at Williamsburg nor even close to runners up Breads, Zabars or Green’s. Anyhow, it’s a nicely run clean place with great staff, and in all fairness, their other food may be delish I just haven’t tried them.

Are you KIDDING me? $15 for 12 bagels PLUS $55 to deliver. Never. My family has been shopping with this store since Joel Russ was in place. Never ever again. And trust me, I'm telling EVERYONE about this.

This is just down the street from the Tenement Museum where we had an early afternoon tour booked. Perfect place for a quick stop. The chicken matza ball soup did a great job of taking the chill out of a very cold winter day. Eggs Bennie pretty standard except for the challah bread base, but well cooked and tasty. Service quite good for a deli.
The best of all the appetising shops!
The best smoked fish bagels in all of New York. We ate at a lot of delis in our recent trip to NYC. All were pretty good. But Russ and daughters was outstanding. There were three of us and we shared three different types of fish bagels. Great flavours, succulent fish, and fresh fresh bagels. We also had their babka! Amaaaazing.
