A fun outing for a small business group

By Alan304 |

Clean, well organized with reasonable bar hand food and drinks. You get a reserved ping pong table (or more - depending on the size of your group). The quality of play depends on the attendees - each table has two buckets of balls that are refilled regularly. The cost includes unlimited beer / house wine which makes a visit relatively expensive for a business group that drinks moderately.

Great place but have low expectations

By DonNY845 |

Good place to rent a table and have some fun with a group of people. The atmosphere is very grimy but fun! The crowd was very young and the bar service was typical bar.

Totally Fun and Entertaining- Food is actually good

By Dara Levine |

A Team Holiday Party at Spin turned out to be a lot of fun. The Ping Pong instructors were great and engaged everyone in the group. We did a round robbin of games that involved everyone so very inclusive. This place is filled with real Ping Pong stars so getting a drink and entertainment is all you want, this is a fun place to start. I was shocked at the food. Typically at "sports" places there is no emphasis on food. Though I would not set expectations to go here for food, the thin crust pizza and turkey meatballs were delicious. Very adapt for group parties. Animators enliven ping pong games by making them more organised and exciting. The food (mainly amuse-bouches) is surprisingly good, served by male and female eye candies. Good music. Not surprising since the place is owned by star Susan Sarandon.

Great place to hang with friends and socialize over ping pong, drinks and good food.

Great place to hang out with friends. Weekends there's live DJs, crazy ping pong tournaments to watch and don't be surprised if you spot a celebrity or two playing a match. Full service bar and the pizza here is great. Definitely a good alternative to going to a bar. Environment is upbeat, energetic and happy.

Trap!

By D H |

Went to Spin NYC without a reservation last night. At the front desk they told us the wait would be 45 minutes for a ping pong table, and we could wait at the bar. There are lots of great bars in this area, so we said no and started to walk out. Aha! Suddenly they had a ping pong table for us. And there were at least two other open tables after ours! Seems pretty obvious they simply wanted us to spend money at the bar instead of giving us a ping pong table, which was why we were there. Don't fall for this money trap! If they don't give you a table right away, go to another bar! Don't get suckered by this money grabbing place.

Ping Pong Anyone?

By photoMOMontheGO |

We ventured in late night and were lucky enough to enjoy a tournament/ exhibition between two amazing players. The music was fun and excitement in the small crowd of by standers made it worth the trip. Lots of tables for Play. It would be a fun night out with a group. We were only 2 people so we opted not to play. It was a bit pricey to just "mess around". Great concept for a club!

Fun place to go!

Fun place to go! Great atmosphere and great food. Bartender was so friendly. My 2nd time here and will go again. Wish they had one in my city!

Great find for a night out with 11 yr old

By Gawdie |

We discovered Spin in passing as it has windows onto the Subway exit in the Flatiron district. We decided to go in and booked a table right away. Great vibe, great music and moderately busy. Everyone just hanging out and playing a friendly game. Loads of balls and staff sweeping them up in droves and reloading your baskets continually! Nice activity for all the family and a welcome break from the Times Sq stuff!

Worth a visit - and don't be put off if you're not the best ping pong player!

We played in a Sunday night tournament (5-8pm) in August. The website said 'all ages, all abilities', but we were concerned that everyone would be far too good for us to compete with. Don't think that way! Everyone got at least 3 matches and 3 out of the 4 of us won at least one match; in fact, our 16 year old son reached the semi-final! Everyone was welcoming and friendly, probably the best bunch of people we met in our week in NYC.

Fun but...

By annar82428 |

We had a great time playing ping pong and having a couple of drinks. Too bad for the creative math on our bill (see pic). When I pointed it out to the staff, first they acted surprised and said it must be a computer glitch, then they claimed it was because the price of the table rental was included in the calculation...then they said a lot of people are "surprised" by their "suggested tip" calculations. I've never claimed to be good at math, but this is a pretty blatant attempt to cheat customers. If I'm not the first person to point this out, maybe it's time to fix that "glitch"?

Fun night

By Scubadocnyc |

Took my kids out to Spin and they had a blast playing ping pong. Even extended our time. The food for bar food was good. The people who worked there were friendly and we had an impromptu lesson from one of the staff.

Rally enjoyed myself

By mgcampbell1101 |

A pretty cool place to hang out with mates despite the questionable standard of table tennis around us. Good tunes, lots of space and nice bar- it's difficult to think of improvements. Credit to the wizard who cleans up the ping-pong balls.

HIghy recommend - fun place

By 7continents1972 |

Great activity for a rainy day, hot day, or evening with friends. Nice cross of age groups. Good bar and selection of food. And you don't have to pick up the balls!

Great party venue

By Jwgeary |

Attended a friend's birthday party last evening. In general, trendy younger crowd. We don't play ping pong so it was a great opportunity to just have fun. The innovation that they have added to major it much more enjoyable is that you have a bucket of balls that is continually refilled, so you never have to chase after balls that have gone off the table. Food was good but not great.

Take Your Teens

By Peggy H |

We needed a break from the weather and booked a table at Spin. We had so much fun. Food is good too for teens... sliders, fries, chicken wraps, and more. Go before 9 pm when it becomes over 21! Tons of family fun!

I intend to 'return' here.

By UncleRasta |

Have to say I was looking forward to this. We had visited basically all the attractions in NYC.... and me, being a table tennis fanatic, was bustin' to visit here. We weren't sure what we'd go into. But, straight away I seen the ethic of what the club was about. Kids were getting coached and others were playing with their parents. Then, there was adults who were at the 'taking an interest' stage and as we got to the bar... a veteran was simply practicing his serve, 2 guys were going forehand topspin to forehand topspin... and a guy who I think is the club coach was coaching a woman. We had a meal and a few drinks. Reasonably priced and generous free refills on diet coke. But, I got talking to the 2 guys going topspin to topspin and they were top guys who enjoyed conversation about table tennis. I think the guys were called Clement and Mark. Anyway.... easy place to socialise. Cool place and cool people. I hope we can return.

Different ping pong!

By Duodev |

Fun place to play ping pong and taking a drink at the same time. Beer , drinks and Ping Pong always go well together! Place is clean and the ambiance is great. We enjoyed-it with our 13 years old son....

Great night!

By Keren V |

This place is very unique if you are not from the city. You don't need to be good at ping pong because you will just Crack up every time you fail. It's fun to play and have some drinks with friends. We also had one of the pizzas from there and it was very filling for 4 people. Highly recommended this place for a night out with friends if you don't want to go for a typical dancing night.

Ping a Pong - just another Sports Bar?

By Ingo B |

Quite different than an ordinary Sports Bar - play Ping Pong just eat and drink or combine all of them - amazing experience close to Flat Iron

Great place, had a blas

By Michael N |

This is a great dating or hangout spot, they have a full bar and the setup is well done. Not that expensive for an hour, $30, well worth it. Gives you something fun to do at night that doesn't involve a meal or drinking. Location is a little tough, it's about 8-10 minute taxi ride from midtown. Went last night and they had glow in the dark night, really added a lot of fun to the night. Call before hand and make sure there is no event going on.

Hilarious night out

By Daniel R |

Great place to have a bit of a laugh, although a bit intimidating if all the people you go with went to private school and are secretly ridiculously good at ping pong. Really fun atmosphere and at the end of the evening some higher standard players (including an olympic bronze medalist) took over the floor when I was there to put on a bit of an exhibition match, don't know if this is a regular thing however. They also had a dancing contest they take really seriously. Unfortunately nobody chose to tell me that until I'd already entered. All in all a great place for a fun night out with a bit of a difference.

Still GRRRRREAT!

By mkd_travelmania |

Awesome place: you play ping pong, adults and children welcomed. Children not allowed past 9pm. It's a great attraction, food is pretty decent, service is ok, and you'll have fun. What more can you ask for? Good for families w children old enough to play, friends or a very casual date. The changed things a bit and divided the space differently, which makes for a better "flow". Mojitos, Oreo milkshake, kale salad, and pizza are all great. love Spin!

Interactive bonding and/or quality time use

By Abbott |

Looking for a place to spend time with friends or family that are not afraid to test their hand eye coordination other than video games? Am glad my daughter took us to this underground place with numerous quality pingpong tables, paddles and bottomless pails of balls to do recreational, practice/training and/or maybe competitive plays. The full bar and food selection is not cheap but worth it as the place is classy like a sky lounge thus makes one feel safe too. Money well spent!

Fun spot

Came here for a happy hour event and it was great! Good drinks, food, and atmosphere! Ping pong tables were a fun addition.

Fun place! Great for teen!

By JBGator |

Visited SPIN w 2 teens and had a great time! Arrived around 1:45 and was able to get a table at 2:15. Waited in lounge w drinks for table and kids played Pong Atari game. At ping pong table we had so much fun playing. Ordered food - flatbread, carnitas tacos and wings and all were delicious. Played for an hour. Then played UNO w giant UNO cards afterwards for another 30 mins. Loved it!

Great place tons of fun

Great Fun and Competition

By Sid |

I had the chance to spend the evening here with my colleagues after work. First impressions were that this was a hidden gem in New York City. Very rarely do you see the combination of a sports space with that of a relaxed bar. The space was very open and there were plenty of tables to play ping pong. There was someone picking up the balls once they fell so never a moment of waiting to restock. Whenever, we needed a break, there were refreshments and food to relax. Aside from these perks, there was also a mini-photobooth that allowed our team to take a group photo to celebrate and share our memories here. Location was also prime, given it is in close proximity to a subway. Definitely recommend.

PIng Pong

By AnoukPDX |

HIgh light of my New York trip. Seventeen ping pong tables, and they pick up your balls for you. The tables are nice, the atmosphere electric. It is a bit dark in there. Some amazing players, we were not part of them. They have food and drinks, but we had already eaten, so I cannot comment on the food. It was a bit spendy, but if you get there before 5,it is reasonably priced. I wish they had this in Oregon.

PING PONG

By Spider187 |

This is an amazing place. Great for a family, date night or just hanging with friends. They have a great bar and food menu. The NYC classic is my favorite. The staff is very nice and helpful. You don't even have to worry about chasing the ping pong balls around they have ppl that will pick them up and keep your basket full. There's a guy named Spider who is very cool that works there.

Expensive and Not Worth It

By Richard G |

How in the world do you charge $49 for an hour of ping pong? PING PONG? And that's without a reservation, so there's no assurance of getting a table when you want it. To make a reservation, it's another $30, bringing the cost to $79 for an hour of play. Definitely not worth it!

A little ping pong, a little eats

By AmyC723 |

Fun to play pong pong when someone else is picking up the stray balls. They did it with the coolest ball picker up device! It's basically like playing ping pong in a bar. Music was too loud and that was very distracting. Food was decent and the flat bread was very very good.

Unique ping-pong place makes you feel welcome

By JFGainesville |

My wife suddenly developed an interest in Ping-Pong last month, so she went online and found this place right before a mini-vacation we took to NYC. If you navigate the subway, SPIN is literally at the 23rd Street #6-green-line subway (Park Ave). You can look into SPIN's window from the subway platform. We played an hour on a TH afternoon for $29/hour. Think the price increases at night. We needed a snack so had a small order of super-tasty meatballs in sort of a bacon broth for $12. Full bar available. There are probably 16 tables spaced around a large room, separated enough so you don't feel cramped or at someone's else party. Colorful mod '60 chairs brighten up the establishment and slinky metal curtains partition off areas. Pro are available for lessons (best to reserve in advance). Lighting is good and you get buckets of orange balls, so if you miss-hit, don't chase it down -- there are 99 more to use! All employees were friendly.

Fun place

By American Eagle |

I've been to Spin twice. It's a fun place with a cool vibe. Great place for adults to play ping pong and drink; equally good to take older teens to have a fun time. The food's good and they had a DJ last time I went. Cool place (NYC prices on the ping pong) but very fun overall.

Lots of fun in a cool environment

By BronteBucket |

Booked a table for an hour at 4.30pm on Valentines Day with older teens and we had a ball with an informal family tournament! It wasn’t too busy at that time and we felt comfortable about nobody watching our amateur skills! Bonus that you don’t have to pick the balls up as they have special sweepers for that. We were given balloons along with our order of heart shaped pizza and love potion cocktail. It was a holiday highlight for us - great bonding time with the kids.

Awesome place for company party!

By andal03 |

We went here for our monthly company party and it was one of the best events, lots of fun as everybody can play ping pong and have a great time. Trainers and staff were excellent and fun to work with. Food was just ok.. but drinks plentiful (your milage may vary). Would come back privately.

Such a cool place!

By denise g |

I never thought that a place dedicated to ping pong could be so much fun! I'm no expert at playing ping pong, but it was fun nonetheless. We had to wait a little more than an hour to play, but it was totally worth it. While we waited, we at some apps and ordered some drinks. The beer I had tasted like pisswater, but I didn't care because the atmosphere, the music was banging! If you were truly a 90's kid, this place is definitely for you!

Amazing

By Jossy J |

Very swanky ping pong spot. It's in the basement and feels like you're at a speak easy. Great music, lots of places to dance or just sit back and chill. P.S. You don't have to worry if you suck at ping pong, there's a guy walking around picking up all the balls you missed.

Fun Spot

By David B |

Came on a Thursday night for a Mgmt outing and we had 3 tables reserved for us. Place was busy with other companies. Food choices was pretty decent, we had a server taking our drink orders and even an ambassador for those who didn’t know how to play.
