Awesome pizza. So glad I don't live close by.

By 1020bluestem |

Here with our family of 4 and walking around and googled best NYC pizza near me. This place came up. We weren't that hungry so didn't get that much. Then repeated our smallish order again and again because the pizza is SO GOOD. It's a tiny skinny hole in the wall set up with a window to the street so you get the whole NYC experience. My girls were just talking about with us how glad we are we don't live right around the corner or we would be pigging out there all the time. It was excellent.

New York pizza that hits the spot

By thumperbopper |

Walking around Hell's Kitchen, I needed a in-between meal snack and found the perfect place for a slice of pizza. Very simple setup with a walk-up window if you don't go inside, and they have a couple of seats in the back. Got a pepperoni slice, which was a very good sized portion. Pizza was hot, tasty, and on a thin crust so you didn't taste so much dough. Just what I was hoping from a New York style pizza.

Fabulous Pizza!

By Clare S |

Great tasting pizza. All freshly cooked as you wait and friendly service. It does have a few tables at the back where you can eat in or take away and also does delivery. Very popular so does get busy at times.

Pizza by the Slice (Take II)

By Trico13 |

Okay, the first time I tried Sacco Pizza a couple of years ago I hadn’t tried many Pizza places in NYC. But I was very pleased. Now after I have been able to try many more NYC pizza places; this place is still at the top with the very best. BTW, this place is the only place we returned to on this trip. Yes, I still recommend this place.

Nobody can beat this place.

By Tyru747 |

This place should win awards for their Pizza. I would love to know who writes these articles for best rated pizza in New York, they've obviously have never been to Saccos. They actually think that pizza joints with the name Ray in it can compare. You can't go wrong with a Sacco slice but I also recommend giving the Gaucho pie a shot, it's a home made beef patty.

Pretty Good

By Brian W |

Got this on a quick getaway. The good: Insanely fast delivery through Slice Price for a large pizza, garlic knots, and soda was super fair and insanely cheap for NYC standards. The Eh: Pizza was okay. It was lukewarm which was a little concerning considering how quickly it was delivery. Inconsistent sauce to cheese ratio. Garlic knots were also not hot but did taste good. I’d bet a fresh slice here would be really good but I’d wary about ordering takeout from here again.

Listed as best pizza in Hell's Kitchen

By Calisungirl2 |

If you google best pizza in Hell's Kitchen, this place comes up. I've eaten here twice and it's amazing. Slices are $2 & $1 each topping. You do need at least 2 slices though. Pizza is from a wood bringing stove.

Great pizza

By DonnaW_10 |

We visited after seeing an ad in the cab saying this was the best NY pizza. Not sure it is the BEST pizza I've ever had (I love Pi Pizza and Dewey's in St Louis) and I know Pizza preference is a personal thing. BUT the crust is GREAT. . .very thin, and crispy (but not like a cracker.) YUM. Reasonably priced. Worth a trip. Enjoy.

Great thin crust pizza

By agustincc28 |

Great thin crust pizza, not a big chain, but a small place in hells kitchen. A lot of local people seems to eat there, so that is usually a good sign, and it was.

Really good pizza

By gboi77 |

They really know pizza! Always freshly-made, always good, sold at reasonable prices. They also have refreshing fruit juices for sale. Just order takeaway because their dining area is cramped and lacks proper ventilation. Be patient as there is normally a long wait.

Soooo good you'd slap Mama

By 46Down4togo |

This is by far the best pizza I've ever had!! Worth every price and the smells hit you as you walk in.

One of the longest standing Pizza shops in this area

By Robert D |

There are several pizza chefs. As far as pizza goes I would say that you usually can't go wrong though I prefer the chefs that make the very thin crusted pizza

The real deal!

By Annecy-Apartments |

Excellent cheap pizza. We were brought here as part of the Food on Foot tour, and came back later during our stay we enjoyed it so much. Authentic, good value pizza. Nothing more to say! :)

Great place to go for a slice of pizza !

By Jerry D from Bramalea |

Tiny place : great pizza and excellent value ! Build your own slice ! Have it your way ! Safe too - the cops eat there LOL

Absolute favorite

By Josh A |

I had pizza in 5 different places, while staying in NYC this past weekend. Sacco was my absolute favorite place out of them all. The crust was nice a slightly crispy, but still had a little bit of "chew" to it. I had one slice with pepperoni and once slice with meatball. Both were extremely good and cheap.

Best pizza in NYC

By pizzastud |

Brian Williams of NBC says it's the best. I agree. Also I've tried Joe's pizza, Ben Affleck's fave joint. Sacco's is better. Try it, you'll agree.

My local spot

By Morgan B |

This is one of my local spots. It is solid New York Pizza but do not expect the napoletana style that has taken over this city. I go here specifically for the chicken rolls. They are very good and anytime I need a quick fix I come here. This place is for take out or a quick eat.

Good slice, but pass on the calzone

By Antonio D |

Good slice of pizza, service was great. They were joking and heated up my daughters bring in baby food. But calzone was a little underwhelming.

BEST NY Slice ever!

By Kelsey B |

I live right down the street and have to stop myself from eating here for each meal, it's that good. Best slice I've had in NYC

Awesome Pizza

By Walter P |

This was my first experience with NYC pizza an it was great. The other reviews were right on the money, so glad we went.

Bet pizza ever!

By Sarah P |

My husband and I wandered in the freezing cold to find this small pizza bar in Hell's Kitchen, well what can I say, best pizza ever. The perfect mix of sauce, toppings and cheese with a great crusty yet fluffy base. It doesn't look like much from the outside but what it lacks in modern decore it definitely makes up for in taste. We topped off an 18 inch pizza in about 20 minutes it was so good and we are not normally big eaters. You can get slices elsewhere for about a dollar where as saccos are about $2.50 but trust me its worth it. They also have a small seating area out the back. Certainly worth the walk!

Great place

By Rebecca S |

We bought a pizza here on new years eve and just loved it, the staff were friendly and helpful, the pizza tasty, and prices reasonable. And the endorsements made it extra special. It seemed like a family run business. Very cool :)

Good deal for the price. Pizza ok.

By Palatyne |

I ordered a large cheese pizza from Sacco Pizza a few days ago. Keep in mind that I love gourmet food. This place is not gourmet, it is standard New York pizza. If you're hungry, it will definitely satisfy. And the price is right. One large cheese pizza fed two guys, they liked it & said it was just fine although nothing spectacular. If you just want a plain and simple New York pizza, Sacco has it.

USED to be our 'go to'

By OHBoy614 |

Every visit to NYC meant a trip to 54th and 9th for pizza from Sacco. This time around we went twice and were really disappointed. The first time was at lunch time when we were told that they didn't have the Sicilian (what we always get) and they didn't have something else. In other words, all they had was the regular thin crust. It was lunch time and they didn't have their menu ready? The thin was good, but we like their Sicilian. The second trip was ridiculous. It was Saturday night and it wasn't even 11pm - they were closed. Who closes a pizza shop in Hell's Kitchen on a Saturday night before 11?! Sorry Sacco. We're done with you. We will find someplace closer and not make the effort to give you our money anymore.

Delicious Pizza by the Slice!

By flalove2travel |

Located in a nondescript storefront, the pizza was delicious! It was hot and tasted as though it was fresh out of the oven. Both the sausage and cheese pizza were perfection! There are a few tables in the back as well. If you are passing by and looking for a quick slice of pizza, do not miss the opportunity for a visit!

Excellent place for people visiting NYC

By Jesse F |

The pizza was impeccable and $2.50 per slice. When ordering just ask for a regular slice for the standard cheese and sauce pizza but I assure you there is nothing standard about it. Very crispy base... Just amazing! This is enough for a meal for most people so represents a good cheap dinner option and authentic NY experience all in one.

Best pizza ever

By Misshughes21 |

He heard about this little place through reviews and thought we would check it out! And we were not disappointed!!! The pizza was amazing, I can't recommend it enough, we have traveled around Italy & tried so many pizzas & this is just as scrummy!

Warmed over Sausage Roll with peppers and onions in it

By Justin W |

I stopped by Sacco Pizza for my first time and I had a craving for a sausage roll. I have to say that it was just okay. It was a little hard from sitting all day and then the guys warmed it up. I had a nice amount of sausage in it and the it tasted good but it had chunks of peppers and onions in it and that turned me off. The guy next to me ordered three slices and that looked a lot better. The prices here are really reasonable and the owner is a hoot. He was busting on the delivery guy in both English and Spanish and it was a nice banter between two New Yorkers. I ate outside on the small tables that they set up and it was just fun to see people again and eat outside on a nice warm afternoon.

Great Little Spot for Authentic NYC Pizza

By Christine M |

Just coming off of a two-hour bicycle tour in Central Park, we asked our tour guide for a recommendation that was close by and it was Sacco’s. It’s a small local place and you can get pizza by the slice or a whole pie. It was my first experience with NY pizza and I was not disappointed. The pizza is yummy - I highly recommend it!

Amazing pizza

By StefanoDianne C |

Visited NYC from Toronto! We found Sacco pizza and we highly recommend it. Great food and customer service!

Quick slice to go

By SnovS |

Best pizza I've ever had. This place was tiny, some seating in the back but definitely more designed for grabbing and going. Fast counter service. Seriously, best pizza ever.

This is PIZZA!

By Mary Ann S |

From out of town and hankering for a good NY pizza. This is a real neighborhood joint. Been in business 50 years. Have a slice and you’ll know why. You can walk up for a slice, stand at the very small counter or sit at one of the few tables. What you get is great thin crust, terrific sauce and your choice of toppings baked to perfection. I loved watching the guys make it and tend it — carefully turning it in the oven and adding more cheese at just the right time. The garlic knots were a bit chewy, but the pizza was the best. So I’m giving it 5 stars. The staff was polite and helpful too.

Awesome NYC Pizza!

By John E |

The best thin sliced pizza in NYC! Home made dough, sauce and cheese! The owners and staff are hardworking! Love to chat them up too! Try it, You’ll love it!!!!

Tasty Food

By Mcfarali |

You don't have the poshest surroundings in this restaurant but if you just want to grab something cheap and TASTY then come here! I had the groucho pie and it was so good. The pizza looked incredible as well. Great place if you're on a budget or in a rush!

Best NYC pizza

By Michelle H |

Always grab some pizza when I'm in the area and sometimes go out our way too ,, best crust, tasty pizza using quality ingredients 👌🏼

Small place but tasty pizza

By gjslhs |

We came upon this little place while walking around Manhattan. We wanted authentic NY pizza, so we looked for a place as it got closer to lunch. We were surprised that it was so hard to find a pizza place. (We have since learned that New York neighborhoods change just by going over a block.) Pizza was sold by the slice or whole. Prices were good...comparable to what we pay in NC. It's a tiny little place, but we were able to sit at a table and eat. Nice guy up front (owner or manager, I'm assuming). Would definitely recommend.

Mouth Watering, Delicious!

By kal41 |

I flew into NYC for the U2 concert and my friend who grew up in Manhattan, told me this was his go to spot for pizza. I made sure I went out of my way to try Sacco's and probably walked past six pizza joints before I got there from my hotel. Grabbed two pepperoni slices to go. Great pizza and well worth the walk.

Great pizza!

By Kgeaton |

Not a lot of space but the pizza makes up for it. Good prices and that thin crust was absolutely delicious!

The crust and flavor was great

By Patti U |

Only tried a bite on our food tour because I was too full for a slice, but the crust was perfect and the overall taste and texture was great. I would definitely go back here to try it again.

Just the Kind of Local Pizzaria We Were Looking For

By JenHen2003 |

We were staying at 56th and 7th for Thanksgiving weekend, and wanted to get an authentic, local New York slice before we left, so we walked a few blocks to this quintessential "hole in the wall" (used affectionately) pizza joint. Crust is perfect for folding, not too crisp and not too soggy/floppy. We got pepperoni and sausage (which is sliced rather than crumbled, and very tasty). Counter service -- but there are a handful of small tables in the back, and they'll bring it to you, and you can pay afterward. Perfect.

Great pizza at a god price!

By Jcatt17 |

We were looking for a place to stop for pizza during a recent trip to NYC. This was close by so we stopped in. Pizza was great- slices were large and reasonably priced. Good crust and range of toppings to select from. The place is tiny, but has a few tables for eating in. Staff was friendly. Authentic New York pizza spot!

Great little place to grab a slice or entire pie

By osubarry |

Stopped in here to grab a couple of slices for dinner and it was fantastic. Service was prompt, pizza was hot and had good flavor. Prices were great as well. Pepsi account, but had plenty of beverage choices. Can eat in with a few tables in the back, think there were 5 or get it to go. I️ would return on my next trip through NYC.

Loved it!

By Kristie C |

Happened upon this pizza spot and it was so great! The staff was friendly and the pizza was delicious. I ate way too much and don't regret it for a second! If you want some great pizza...try Sacco!

Good pizza and fast

By brendan2877 |

The food here was great, it was ready quickly and very well priced, and the restaurant was very clean, although it was on the smaller side so be quick if you want a seat

Wonderful pizza establishment.

By William H |

Went here on a food tour and was one of the best stops. Great old fashion pizza establishment. It's definitely worth a visit.

Amazing

By snatha94 |

Sacco’s should be MUCH higher on the list of NYC pizza! Delicious, cheap, & quick. Will go every time I’m in NYC 😊

Great NYC pizza!

By kimr49201 |

Very good pizza! We saw a food on foot tour go in, so we knew it must be good, and it was. Inexpensive and tasty!

Still the best on the planet--with ease...

By dave999909084 |

Title says it all--returned recently on a visit to nyc--still the tops. Joe's is great, great, great...but Sacco's is from another world. A hole in the wall-old school-

What Else Can We Say?????

By TD187 |

This is pizza! Overall, the crust is not too thick, not too thin. It is also surprisingly crisp. Of course, the taste makes it awesome. This is the taste of the city! Stay away from the chain pizza businesses and give this one a try. Otherwise, you will be disappointed for not taking the plunge.

Not worth the visit

By Rickiepizza |

I am a pizza lover.I went to grab a slice at Sacco. It was so bad.It was like a piece of paper. Not even cooked. No sauce at all.Smallest slice in NYC.It was very dirty as well.Time to clean that place up and get a new pizza man.The guy is like 90 years old!Just not worth the money.Seems they are cheap on ingredients to make a buck.It show in the food.

Sacco's delivers

By Michael D |

I grew up in the NY metropolitan areas and I live in the city for nearly 15 years. I like pizza. And I happen to think NYC is second to none when it comes to pizza. I always enjoyed Strombolis down on University Place. I liked Sals up on Broadway and 103. Vinnies on Amsterdam Avenue was pretty good but they closed down. Venice is good. Sao Paulo Brasil is good. NY is great. Sacco follows in that NYC tradition of being not much to look at but a pleasure to dine in. The neopolitan slice was quite good. Firm crust with the right blend of sauce and mozzarella. I enjoyed it so much I tried the sicilian. That too was pretty good. I ate in and noticed a lot of locals because the guys behind the counter seemed to know everyone. That is a very good sign...

Honest

By MEC001 |

There is absolutely nothing pretentious about Sacco. Mainly catering to take out but we decided to sit at the laminex tables in the small back room. They even provided a cork screw and paper cups so we could enjoy a wine with our meal. Garlic knots were light and flavoursome and then came our pizzas: very hot, light, and delicious. The bases were very thin and toppings generous. Four very satisfied customers with left overs for under $50. Certainly can't complain about that!

Great NY Pizza!

By Luis |

One of my most visited pizza places in New York City. Great pizza, great prices. If you are in the area, go try them out.

Well worth a long walk

By blackbuddha24 |

My wife and I stayed at a midtown hotel and decided to walk over to Sacco's on 9th avenue. Took about half an hour but it was well worth it. We ordered a 16" pepperoni that came out of the oven piping hot. Crust was thin (exactly what I wanted); cheese, tomato sauce and pepperoni were excellent - by far, it's the best pizza I've had in years. Sacco's is NOT a full-service restaurant: there are a few tables in the back but most patrons order by the slice and walk away. Sacco's staff were courteous, even at busy times. The price for one slice might be on the high side but the cost of a 16" pizza ( 8 slices) was about $16.00. I highly recommend this place if you like thin crust, "simple" but very delicious pizza!

Good NYC Pizza

By seamonkeypgh |

No frills. Nothing special. Good pizza. Hot and fast. Some seating in the back, but who sits in a NY pizza joint? Walk and eat. Enjoy.

I am a relative

By andrea r |

Very good and professional, cleanliness and seriousness. Always ready at any time, I really use Italian products.

Great friendly local pizza joint

By @IamMrsMACKS92 |

We went to Sacco pizza around 8:00 one evening after our day of sightseeing was done. This is definitely a local place so we were quickly identified as tourists. The staff was friendly and at the time we were there, there was only one patron, but we had a great conversation with him. The owner wondered how we'd found the place (my husband saw it highly recommended on Google maps) he also told us it was a family owned business that had been there for nearly 60 years and thanked us for coming. We bought pizza by the slice and it was delicious. My husband talked about our trip to Sacco the rest of the trip and we would definitely return if ever in the midtown area.

New York pizza at a price that can't be beat

By DeLois H |

This is excellent for what it is.... a small, non-chain pizza joint in Hell's Kitchen offering wide slices (hanging off the paper plate it is served on) of thin New York pizza at $2.50 a slice plus $1.00 per additional topping. For the bread lover, the garlic knots are also very good. Oozing with character and atmosphere, you can walk up and order from their take-out window or dine inside in their very limited seating area. A hit with my picky-eater child and the prices can't be beat!

My favorite in NYC

By Cappio |

I went to grad school up the block from this place. In a City where pizza keeps getting trendy, this place is old school. Was the best 30 years ago, and is still the best. Perfect crust. Other places have their merits, but this is the real deal.

Great Place

By Escritor |

This is a small neighborhood pizzeria on 9th Avenue between 53rd and 54th. People who work there are really nice and the pizza is excellent. A slice of cheese is only $2.50 so it's an inexpensive and very satisying meal in very expensive New York.

Hell's Kitchen Classic Pizza Pie

By bessf0nes |

I've been going to Sacco's Pizza for so many years I've lost count. I just had a slice running my errands on this hot, humid New York day. It was quiet since who eats pizza when the city feels like a pizza oven? I do. And as always from the first bite I just marveled at the deliciousness and freshness. You can buy by the slice or whole pies. They also deliver. I never ever tire of the flavor of the thin, but not too thin crusted pizza.

Awesome!!!

By Babygirl9599 |

After reading the reviews on this pizza spot, we decided to give it a try. Our pizza was AMAZING!! I became full after the first slice, and ate a second one anyway. Lol. It was that hot and fresh. The environment reminds me of a cute, local pizzeria. The service was friendly as well.

Excellent NYC style pizza, no frills

By Egroj_Avlis |

There was a políce officer getting his pizza at Sacco. This says it all. We got two 16" pizzas which were enough for two meals. Next time in NYC will get my pizza pie there!!!

Great pizza!

By Jessica F |

Simple, small shop with delicious slices of cheese pizza. Perfect balance of sauce, cheese and a great crust. Wish I could have brought some home with me!

Good for a quick meal!

By BLHickson |

Very good pizza. Husband found Sacco's on TripAdisor as No. 1 pizza joint in NYC. ...Not sure about that, but good pizza and cheap. Like others said, don't be afraid to walk in; they could tell we were tourists and gave good directions for ordering at the counter, etc. Really good pizza and cheap. Good NYC style (thin crust which I love) pizza.

Great pizza

By whiteside6 |

Looking for NY pizza that was quick easy and delicious. This place fit the bill. Great crust and sauce.

Best pizza in America

By Dan H |

We came across this restaurant by talking to a local of NY. He said iT was the best pizza in town. 3 days later, we went to this joint and were not disspointed! Big and very tastefull pizza. Would visit again!

Everything I hoped NYC Pizza would be ...

By dj_daddy_b |

I'm no foodie, but I know pizza, and this pizza is goo-ood. That's right: two-syllable good. My family and I ate here our first night in town and liked it so much we had lunch here again two days later. If you're looking for a reasonably priced quick lunch or dinner on-the-go, well then, this is your place. There're even a few tables in the back if you need a quick rest while you eat. My only recommendation to them would be to have a pepperoni pizza pre-made so the pepperoni gets a little more done when ordering slices. Bottom line is this is NYC pizza: Thin crust, foldable, and tasty.

Traditional New York Pie

By Steven B |

Talked to some cops when I was visiting NYC figuring they probably could provide some insight on where to get some pizza. They sent me to Sacco's. Simple pie by the slice $1 toppings was perfect. Killed some garlic knots as well. Don't think about it, just go here!

Fantastic pizza!!!

By THabs88 |

First timer in NYC. We had just gotten done eating supper across the street at El Centro. Wanted 1 last piece of NYC pizza before we head home tomorrow. While walking back to our hotel we walked by. Saw a sign saying NBC's Brian Williams frequents this place. I figured if it's good enough for him it's good enough for me. Man am I glad I stopped. My slice was on point. Very good! Very fast and courteous service!!

Great pizza with affordable price

By Jake C |

We were strolling along 9th Ave, and smelled something great - it was pizza. We got two slices. A real representation of excellent NY pizza - the crust, sauce, and cheese were just right. And, not a rip-off.

Best pizza we had in New York!

By Glenn D |

This was recommended by a random doorman a few blocks away, and we were so glad we took his advice! We ate pizza at multiple places during our visit to New York, and we agreed this was the best. Great service by nice people who are very appreciative of tourists returning to New York. Definitely recommend!

Great a slice

By Fremontbrit |

Sacco has been around Hells Kitchen for years. You want a hot cheap delicious slice hit Sacco. You can order at the window and take to go or sit inside and enjoy with a cool soda.

Authentic NYC slice.

By Henry G |

Ounce for ounce, dollar for dollar, this pizza joint is my favorite of all time with its crispy delicious crust and tomatoey sauce and generous gobs of gooey mozz all over it, steaming hot with a flourish of oregano and maybe a dash of garlic powder. A nice assortment of canned and bottled drinks and you've got yourself one of the best hole in the wall slices the city has to offer. The real food looks good, too. Skip the line at John's if you want real NY pizza. Go here.

Like having a taste of Brooklyn in Hells Kitchen

By dabear185 |

At first glance this pizzeria doesn't scream "HEY WE ARE THE BEST PIZZA IN NYC!", but upon first taste I was transported back to Brooklyn and I was 10 years old again having a slice of my favorite slice of Brooklyn pizza. The ratio of cheese, sauce and bread was perfect. If you can't make it to Brooklyn for a slice of pizza then go to Sacco for great pizza fix and try their chicken rolls!!! They hit the spot every time!

Great Pizza

By Lexi D |

First New york Pizza slice in my life and it was pretty tasty! we got half pepperoni, half pepperoni and onion. There isn't much seating but the pizza was great. The onions were almost sweet but we aren't from the area so it might be a difference in onions

Real NY slice!

By AndyDrew13 |

This is the spot! I mean, there are probably a million great pizza spots in NY, but this spot was epic. Staff was super friendly and personable. A regular slice is so tasty with thin and crispy/chewy dough, just the way it should be, and the Sicilian dough is so fluffy and tender. Perfect combo of dough, sauce, and cheese! Garlic knots were epic too!

best slice in the world, by far

By dave999909084 |

This place is unreal. Just a little hole in the wall with super pizza. Forget all the hype about other famous nyc slices, i've eaten at over 100 pizza joints in the city and this is the best without a close challenger.

Great NY pizza - considering we're from Chicago! :-)

By Adrienne Moreno |

We were in town visiting from Chicago and asked a few locals for a good pizza place. This was one that was recommended to us. We are so glad we took their advice! It's a neighborhood kind of place; probably more of a take it to go, but we ordered and sat inside to eat. We didn't have to wait long at all! We are definitely used to our Chicago style, deep dish pizza, but we REALLY enjoyed the New York style thin crust. It had a nice crisp crust and tasted great! What a wonderful find!

Great New York pizza

By Stew T |

This little pizza place just does nothing but your basic pizza baked in an oven in front of you. They sell pizza by the slice for $2.50 with a dollar extra for a topping like pepperoni. Add a can of Pepsi and you have a large yummy slice and drink for $4.50. An amazing bargain. The place is tiny with seating at Formica tables at the back. It's clean and tidy. Will I return - you bet!

Good NYC Pizza

By Mel G |

Our car service driver recommended this place. It is a little hole in the wall pizza place. We actually bought the beer at the store next to the pizzeria. the pizza was a 16" sausage and it was good. I don't know if my wife and I were just really hungry but we devoured it. Served piping hot of the tray right out of the oven.

Great prices and great pizza

By Penny5555 |

Don't expect ambiance - it is just a little place with very minimal seating and no alcohol - but that is the only reason I gave it a 4star rating! The guys behind the counter were very accommodating. It was fun to watch them make our pizza right in front of us. Watching the man lovingly rotate our pizza in the oven touched my heart! I liked that I got to put my own seasoning on the pizza after it came out of the oven. The pizza was scrumptious. Prices were great! We took it back to our hotel, picking up a bottle of wine on the way - and had a relaxing and inexpensive evening in the warmth and quiet of our room after a full day of activity, people, and the high prices of NYC.

Good fast cheap pizza

By Mehs p |

Had the cheese. Was good. Crispy and thin crust. Cash only if under $10. Worth a visit for a quick bite

So thin, so good!

By Francesca |

This was a great pizza. It was nice and thin, good crust , good sauce. Very nice guys working there.

Best Pizza in town!

By MaggieJeanNYC |

Ok everyone not from NYC thinks OMG NYC pizza is great! This is a lie. Pizza in Brooklyn and Queens is great. Really when you think NY pizza you are thinking of Brooklyn pizza. Manhattan Pizza is bad. That being said, Sacco is BY FAR the best Pizza in Hells Kitchen. I've tried them all over the 5 years I have lived here in HK. Sacco is as close to Brooklyn flavor as you can get but just ever so slightly misses the mark. But if you are in Manhattan you will be hard pressed to find better than Sacco. If you can't make it to Brooklyn, I HIGHLY recommend Sacco Pizza!!!

A good joint for a slice.

By Onevisionn |

The crust was great. We only had cheese slices but they were tasty. Pepperoni rolls were super cheesy and delicious. Brought 9 kids and 3 adults. Ate well for cheap.

Best meal we had in NYC!

By Lorraine S |

My family of 4 had pizza hear last week at the recommendation of the bellhop at our hotel. Although it was a bit of a trek at the end of a long day we wanted pizza and decided to go for it. Sacco is a small hole in the wall local restaurant that you may just walk past and not notice. They only make pizza and you can order a slice or a whole pizza. Most people were locals and took theirs to go. There are a few tables in the back, self serve drink coolers and take note that there are no public restrooms. All that aside the pizza was fantastic...even my husband who dislikes pizza was impressed. The pizza was tasty and filling. The staff friendly and you could watch them make the pizza if it wasn't so busy. Definitely a restaurant that we will return to. The large pizza with 4 drinks was around $30. This was for certain not only the least expensive meal we had in NYC but most enjoyable!

Nice Guys, great prizes, fantastic pizza! We found this thanks to Tripadvisor. Must do while in New York. seating is quiet simple, but The pizza compensates everything.

NY Pizza is pizza...

By kathyh303 |

When you live in California and crave NYC pizza, most places are so similar. We knew to ask the bellmen at our hotel where the best pizza was close by and they recommended Sacco Pizza. I was cracking up at the small, traditional, pizza place where the guy just says "go sit down and it will be there soon!" We waited a bit too long but it was exactly what the pizza DR. ordered and totally hit the spot!

Grab a slice on the go or grab a whole pizza takeaway.

This is an unassuming hole in the wall but don't be deceived, it has wonderful pizza. Beautiful thin crispy base.

Love NY Style Pizza - this is it!

By Bruce H |

Quaint little pizza place - very NY and the pizza is amazing. Basic or Grandma style both outstanding and loved the service and watching the pizza being made. Highly recommend!

best pizza in New York

we stopped here twice whilst we were in Hell's Kitchen for a slice of pizza - it was delicious both times and made a great value lunch at $2.50 a slice!

Traditional NYC pizzeria

If you're looking for an authentic NYC pizza experiance, Sacco's is one place where you'll certainly find it.

Perfect NYC Pizza

By Dave F |

We were looking for real NYC pizza: thin crust, slightly sweet sauce, lots of fresh mozzarella cheese. Sacco Pizza gave us exactly what we were looking for. We each had two large slices with mushrooms. The slices were perfectly cooked, with a crust that was fully cooked, but not baked hard like a cracker, so it was perfect for folding and eating NY-style. There are only a few tables in the back for eat-in dining, but everything was neat and clean. You simply put in your order, then pay when you pick it up. Like I said before, perfect!

Hole in the wall with good NY style pizza

By thebeejer |

This place is a true hole in the wall pizza joint. Both thin crust and thick. We had thin with cheese and jalopena peppers. Just the right balance of sauce and cheese. Not greasy. $2.50 a slice - a real bargain.

Awesome first experience in NYC!

By Tracy P |

I found this restaurant while searching on Trip Advisor for authentic NYC pizza. I was waiting on the rest of my party to arrive in NYC so I put the address in my phone and Siri took me right there; I walked from my hotel several blocks to take in the City and it was a pretty and unseasonably warm day in the city. I walked in and was a little intimidated by all the hustle and bustle of the locals; I'm just a girl from Alabama but the men behind the counter could not have been nicer! The pizza was the best I've ever had! Sooo glad I took a chance and found this place!

Top pizza and great VFM!

By tony arnese |

Friendly fast service and amazing pizza! Popped to try out this place after hearing a native New Yorker rave about it while he was on a bus. What luck!

Gotta try it!!

By TeeRoni |

The cheese pizza was very good: thin and crispy. The pepperoni roll was just okay. A lot of history here. Recommended by a friend and I would definitely come back!

Real New York Pizza Experience

By PKWTraveler |

This is a hole in the wall type of place that you always see in the movies. The pizza quality is very good with thin crusts and a good marinara. There are a few small tables in the back. Most people got their pizza and walked out the door but we sat down and ate there. It's in the theater district and made a good before theater dinner. Oh, and the price is very reasonable. There are some new, gourmet, designer pizza places in the neighborhood, and with a glass of good wine, there is a place for that. But for the real New York experience, eat here.

It's just delicious. Try it!

By Johnny265 |

Hats off to Sacco Pizza for providing me a simple setting for delicious Pizza. Lunch time is usually 2 regular slices and 1 Sicilian . Been coming here for more then 20 years. On Saturdays, I order pizza pies for my staff. I call and say send the Pizza to Cybert Tire! My staff is excited when the Pizza delivery from Sacco's arrives. Consistency is key and Sacco's always delivers!!! P.S. If you want great pizza, eat some . If you want garbage for 99 cents go down the street.

Great New York-Style Slice

By buffcat |

Visited Sacco twice on our first trip to New York City. It is inexpensive and comes out of the oven piping hot. We tried the pepperoni and the sausage and both were equally great. Highly recommend!

Pretty decent

By kayaker12 |

Was looking for a great slice of NY pizza...and I found a decent slice. I got pepperoni so that is pretty difficult to mess up (though I did get a hair) but my friend had mushrooms and olives that were awful. It was also a little overpriced, $2.50 for cheese and $1 for EVERY topping added. But my pepperoni was decent if greasy

How NY pizza should taste

By JessieB112277 |

I grew up in Brooklyn but moved upstate several years ago. One thing that cannot be duplicated is the taste of NYC pizza. I eat pizza at home, and some of it is decent, but nothing can erase the mouth watering taste of really good pizza from my brain. Prior to visiting the Intrepid, I Googled pizza places in Hell's Kitchen, and of all the places Sacco's got the most consistent positive reviews on Yelp. We walked over in 95 degree heat, and upon arrival were not disappointed. It is a tiny no-frills pizza place - def NOT a "pizza bar". We only wanted plain slices, so we didn't have the same experience others mentioned, regarding difficulty getting toppings. That first bite...just like my childhood memories. There is just something about the NYC pizza, maybe the water used to make the dough. At $2.50 a slice, it's well worth giving it a try. Very thin crust, hot right out of the oven, the cheese getting all smushed. Mmmmmm

# 1 Pizza in NYC

By Voyager20483 |

Don't believe the hype of any trendy pizza place in NYC. Sacco thin crust is the best in town. I go there at least once a week, and I pass 5 other pizzerias to get there. Could use some sprucing up, but for pure eating pleasure this is the place.

My favorite

By Jeffrey Hollington |

Where do I start, this place is just the best I’ve been going to this pizza spot since I was a kid and it has never changed the staff are like family it’s a small spot in midtown Manhattan very family oriented and the pizza is classic I’ve never been to a pizza joint that 20 years later the pizza taste exactly the same they have never changed there recipe for me that’s the best the pizza is amazing to say the least and I would recommend for you too check this place out you won’t regret it. They have a window that you can order from on the outside it’s wheelchair accessible as I said this place is a little small I would say it can seat about 10 to 20 people comfortably inside and of course your looking at a beautiful view of people walking by on 9th Avenue all in all I recommend anyone who’s a true New Yorker and loves pizza as much as I do this is the place for you

well

By Ron H |

My wife and I stayed at a midtown hotel and decided to walk over to Sacco's on 9th avenue. Took about half an hour but it was well worth it. We ordered a 16" pepperoni that came out of the oven piping hot. Crust was thin (exactly what I wanted); cheese, tomato sauce and pepperoni were excellent

Pizza by the Slice

By Trico13 |

I haven’t tried many Pizza places in NYC but I must say I was very pleased with this pizza (by the slice). It was quick, hot and fresh. I would recommend this place.

Excellent pizza, excellent prices, and excellent delivery service.

By Carol D |

Excellent. Ecelllent service, food and prices. Delivery is quick and efficient. Excellent crust. Good food

Incredible pizza

By jhnbrunner |

A lot of people talk about Joes pizza but Sacco’s is just as good. Offer traditional thin crust or thick Sicilian style, which they sometimes run out of. Small place but one of best pizzas in NY

Yum

By KaraokeDiva |

My husband, myself and another couple were staying at a condo on W 57th near 8th Avenue, and wanted a really good slice of pizza close by when we first arrived in town. A little research lead us to Sacco and we were not disappointed. We were pretty much starving after a long morning of travel, and each of us got two (pretty large) slices and went pretty basic - pepperoni for myself and husband, and cheese for each of our friends. Dee-licious! They basically just add toppings to pizza they've already made and throw it back in the oven for a few minutes (though it's all going to be relatively fresh), but it was was perfectly yummy that way. I probably wouldn't go much more complicated than sausage or pepperoni at Sacco, but then again, despite my love of many toppings on pizza when I'm at home, I don't want my New York style pizza with much on it, anyway. It's just a tiny little place, and if you eat in, they don't even make you pay until you're done. I'd definitely stop by again next time we're in NYC.

disappointed!

By KathieMae1970 |

I wish we could have given a good review because we were so expecting a yummy treat but instead the pizza was 90% bread, barely any sauce and the sausage tasted bland. the pizza had not much flavor at all. we tried hard to eat it but it all ended up sadly in the trash.

Just OK for me

By jfranco77 |

I was hoping for some great NYC pizza, but even an endorsement from Brian Wiliams didn't help me find it. Don't get me wrong, it was OK, but it tasted a little bit like Ellio's or some kind of grocery store pizza. I had a sicilian slice - maybe the regular is better? I also had the garlic knots and they were delicious. Service was pretty fast even though there was a line when I arrived.

NYC Pizza Delicious Dozen

Cheese Pie and Black Cherry Sodas. Family Memories & always have a smile afterwards. Thin crust bliss ready to fold and the only time drinking soda creates the perfect combination.

Gorgeous NY pizza slice!

By rotelharp |

Visited as part of a food tour and had a regular slice - it was absolutely gorgeous! It was fresh out of the oven, and they sliced the slice into two so that we could share it. Perfect!

A must stop in NYC

By K9EDDH |

This is the best thin crust pizza I have had. It is small hole in the wall pizza place but they were the nicest folks you could ever meet and served up a GREAT Sicilian pizza as well as some excellent thin crust. I was recommended this place by a long time New Yorker and I am glad I took his advice. Cool thing about the place too is there are pictures of famous folks that have ate there, there is even a story posted that nbc anchor Brian Williams frequents there. You will be happy you stopped in here!

NY thin crust pizza.

By safpsy |

This is just good, no apologies, unadulterated NY thin crust pizza. A great place for a quick slice or pie.

Perfection

By Pablo G |

I've been going to Sacco's for 12 years when I lived in NY right across the street from them. After 5 years of living in the West Coast, I recently stopped by Sacco's on my trip to NY (it was a destination). The slice is still great and (apologies to my West Coast friends) SO MUCH BETTER than what you can get elsewhere! You must stop by and try a slice!

Pizza where the locals eat

By coltrav34515 |

I have had many a bad meal in NYC due to the inability to avoid tourist trap restaurants. Finally, I scored. This small pizza joint has been in business in the same Hell's Kitchen location for over 40 years. When we dropped in, we were the only tourists! Locals, from families to construction workers. And the pizza - great! The price-Cheap! Just a hole in the wall, which makes the best pizza places.

Sicilian Dream

By Nouvelle C |

best sicilian slice I have had in the city, and i have had my share. small narrow shop with friendly old school staff. nice place to chill. the gaucho pies are very nice too. my favorite pizza shop in all of the city, down to earth and the perfect slice.

Good slices

By Stefano |

As a local, this is a pretty decent pizza shop. Was at a show a few blocks up and needed something quick before it started. The slice was spot on. So spot on, I came back after the show to get another one. I usually walk a few blocks extra to go to another pizza shop but glad I found this one.

Good pizza

By WJMartinez |

The pizza at Sacco's was not bad. I tried a pepperoni and a slice with sausage, green peppers and onions. The pepperoni was pretty good but it seemed like they put the other toppings on top of an already cooked cheese pizza and warmed it up.

Quick grab pizza

By x J |

This place is good for a quick reasonably priced slice of pizza. There are a few tables to eat in, but to go is fine for this place.

The best thin sliced pizza

By John E |

The best thin sliced pizza in NYC! Home made dough, sauce and cheese! The owners and staff are hardworking! Love to chat them up too! Try it, You’ll love it!!!!

LOVED IT! I am a pizza snob...

By camefromfairfield |

I could eat pizza every day so when Im in NYC I always try out a new place to get some. I scoured the review sites and this one was walking distance from our hotel so we eagerly rushed over to get a pie. WE LOVED IT. So much in fact that we ordered another pizza to bring back to the hotel for later :) Crust was crispy yet chewy and sauce and cheese the perfect ratio. WE ate at one of the few tables they have there..drinks are in the cooler for you to self serve.Typical place to get a slice on a paper plate with a pepsi..HEAVEN!

The best slice of Pizza in Manhattan. Hands Down.

By Animal Man |

I've been eating slices from Sacco for over 30 years. It is always the highest quality NYC thin slice around.
