Great Happy Hour!

By nycgirl0729 |

I've been here a few times for lunch (great bloody mary!), but the last month I have been here more than a few times for their great happy hour specials! Get a nice spot at the bar and the bartenders take care of you very well especially if they recognize you (which they are great at!). Has a nice Hamptons vibe, casual place and the food is pretty good too!

Nice ambiance, food average

By EliteTravellers |

Visited on a couple of occasions . The second time was to see if the food would be more better than the first...after all in a trendy neighborhood with good restaurants. We tried the grilled octopus, salmon, lobster rolls. Food was decent but not exceptional.

Brilliant

lobster roll. Great service and great food. The staff take initiative and suggest things. We were offered a prosecco with a twist. Best drink ever!

Dinner and a must visit place

By Craig R |

We stopped here for dinner while in NYC and food was amazing quality. Service was exceptional also cute little place and bar - seafood is just impeccably cooked and presented. Not cheap eats but you get what you pay for here that is for sure. Strongly recommend for overseas visitors just avoid happy hour bar gets quite busy and loud. This is a genuine hidden gem of a restaurant!

Very good Duck!

By Paulinas D |

I ordered "Li Duck Confit" which was very delicious. Besides good food, the place is quiet and the service very nice.

Very Loud

By InTheMomentManhattan |

The night my wife and I visited the Sagaponack Grill we were entertaining friends from out of town. It was almost impossible to hear anyone speak. The noise level within the restaurant is quite amazing. Don't show up there for a quiet evening out. Food and service were okay but not great. It is not expensive.

Never had a very good lobster roll anywhere else!

By truthintraveling |

It was tucked in a corner where , at first, it was hard to find. But they had the best lobster roll in this part of the city! We would definitely come back. Though the place gets really packed around lunchtime and the crowd is usually office workers and business meeting people. Be sure to get a reservation beforehand or come in early.

Very good in all areas - but not great

By GPBucket |

Very good place to go for seafood, especially with the Nantucket-style decor. Everything was very fresh and tasty, and the service was very good too. But we expected the food to be more flavorful, so I just can't put it in the 5-star category. For example, I had the Lobster Pot Pie, which had nice big pieces of lobster but neither the lobster nor the pie filling were bursting with flavor. The quality and presentation were there, and there's nothing wrong with a "4". I was surprised though that it wasn't nearly full on a Friday night.

Not bad for the price

By JeffreyFireIsland |

They have a happy hour that ends at 7-pm- $4 draft beer, $1 oysters. The beer was fine, 30 % of the oysters were so small it was a joke but can you really complain in NYC for that price? Most of our party had the fish taco which is a deal for $12- 2 tacos, salad and fries which were great. Cant go wrong for the price. Hamburger as well was good for the price. Service was adequate, very loud environment

Summer in the City

By kevin56 |

Have eaten here 3 times. Pretty much hits the mark when it comes to creating a Hamptons vibe, especially towards the front of the space. Really nice bar area. Nice calamari appetizer, always great lobster mac & cheese, so perfect to see Wolffer Chardonnay on the wine list.

excellent brunch, lovely atmosphere, good service

By hask74 |

Sunday brunch here was perfect. A very nice bloody Mary to start off at a very reasonable price, smiling and efficient service, tasty crab cakes with perfectly poached eggs. Everything good. Only a small criticism on the accompanying slightly soggy potatoes which can certainly be improved. The price is right. Nice atmosphere. Ask for table upstairs to have less noise and music...

4 people, 2 courses, 4 smiles

By Michael K |

We had passed Sagaponack a couple of times, and it looked very pretty, so when we had an opportunity, my wife and I, along with another couple, decided to try it. We each had an app and an entree, and they were universally excellent. None of the dishes were new, per se, but a few had unique twists that added to the enjoyment. I also thought the wine list was very reasonable. I am a little surprised that there really is no buzz about this restaurant. Perhaps it is because it lives in the Gramercy Park area of Manhattan where there are so many high profile restaurants. I think, however, that this one holds its own with any of them.

Good ambiance

By Dan U |

have eaten here several times over the past year and the theme has been consistent: nice waiters who seem to be a little bit confused, certain menu selections that are always good (pesto fries, chicken sandwich, a few salads, and most breakfast items) and some that disappoint (lobster roll). overall not a bad choice if in the area

Neighborhood gem

By don u |

We've had brunch here, but never dinner before. As we often do we sat at the bar. My wife had a salad which she raved about for 2 days. I had a delicious lobster sandwich, could only eat half, and my wife told me how much she enjoyed the other half for lunch the next day. For me a great place - 3 block walk, nice service, good food, good wine, and out the door for between $75-$100.

Very good dinner

By BelaN74 |

We had dinner here one night as we were craving seafood. We shared the lobster bisque and it wasn’t the best I have had, honestly it was just okay because there was a weird taste to it. Like something was in it that shouldn’t be. We also ordered 2 different fish tacos and those were very good. Service was okay.

Great lunch spot. Quick and delicious!

By row8on |

I eat at Sagaponack frequently and love, love, love this restaurant. The food is amazing (I have tried all the salads and all are terrific!) and I can get in and out during my lunch hour. The staff is friendly and attentive. And the location is perfect!

Great lunch spot

By sidder |

I was impressed with our relaxing meal and the calm ambiance in a busy part of New York. Great salads.

Delicious food, reasonable prices and friendly staff.

By suedickens_58 |

We stumbled across this restaurant whilst looking for another one but decide to try it instead. So glad we did it had delicious food (Lobster roll- YUM!) and was very reasonably priced for New York.

Second time here and I liked it even more

By Pepper |

A nice casual feel to this place - almost like a beach restaurant- which makes it a lot of fun to be in with in the middle of Manhattan. Had great service and a nice table up front so we could hear each other. this time I had the oyster tacos because I had read a review - and they were really really good. My nephew had the paella- and it was chuck full of shell fish- very good- although definitely not traditional . Appetizer of lobster ravioli- not great- but edible. Desert advertised as a caramel souffle- wrong word- it was kind of rich cake with a mousse interior. Didn't love it. But did love the oyster Tacos and am prepared to back again just for those!

Overpriced and flavourless

By Janice G |

Ordered the steak, it was a huge piece and nicely cooked, just lacked flavour - no salt and pepper on the table. Ordered the asparagus as a side and it was limp, tasteless. Expensive for what it is and as I'm from Australia and we don't tip, it pained me to tip as the service was lack lustre too!

Quite dining, great tastes

By MNtripmaven |

For appetizers we had the fried feta appetizer and the mussels, which had just a hint of heat. Dinner was paella, which was wonderful with huge pieces of fresh seafood. Would go there again!

Ok, but nothing special

By Jason B |

The food was good, I had the lobster roll. Atmosphere was nice and relaxed, but the table and seating arrangements was very odd.

Brunch Nearby

By THFinPR |

We were up late Saturday morning and 4 of us headed nearby to eat. We had 2 french toast, 1 omelet and 1 eggs florentine. All plates wound up quite clean, but the french toast was just a bit hard to bite into in some portions. We were well served, and at the moment we were there it wa not very busy. To be fair, the actual rating should be between average and very good, though, at least for our experience, slightly more average.

Great place on a very hot night in the city

By scubabob50 |

Had dinner there with my wife and another couple. The food was super. The gazpacho with crab neat was over the top great. I had the buccatini with scallops, shrimp, etc which had a great pepper sauce. The lobster sliders and rolls were great. Great place to go on a very hot summer's night.

Delicious on all counts.

By Jenny I |

I went for lunch and enjoyed a gin cocktail, kale salad, and octopus. It was all so good! A little pricey but worth it for a special occasion. The octopus was particularly superb. And I couldn't even finish my salad as it was all surprisingly filling.

Fantastic seafood cuisine

By TrevorGSX |

Double date night at this restaurant on a Saturday night and the food was delicious. I had the scallops and gnocchi and it was fabulous, large and tasty scallops. Entrees were reasonably priced by NYC standards and the wait staff was very friendly. Very good place in NYC for the price.

Good service, poor food

By TIm902106703 |

Ate lunch here today. A BLT in mid-August should not, under any circumstances, be made with a limp, pallid tomato. Imagine what you'd get at a fast food restaurant in February. Seriously that bad. A shame, because sourdough bread and bacon were actually pretty good.

Post graduation meal

By stefhim |

Eleven of us had great food. Late meal means we had quiet restaurant and no rush to leave. Due to kitchen problem, no fried foods available, not a problem. Pappardelle was outstanding. Other meals included Sea Bass, Paella, Lobster avocado BLT. Appetizers of Flatbread & shrimp cocktail were delicious. Each person cleaned their plate & were VERY satisfied.

average

Average food - uncomfortable seating. Waitress was very friendly Wouldn't go out of my way for 2nd experience.

Sagaponack sags

By GC_Guru |

We visited Sagaponack (22nd St, near Fifth Avenue, NYC) with family. The setting is nice, nautical themes. It is a long room, a high ceiling, with tables at the front, back, a bar in between. There is a mezzanine, a half flight upstairs. The staff are friendly and attentive. The prices are moderate for NYC, but the food was disappointing. Good dishes were: calamari; lobster roll (but very plain); lobster pot pie, portobello mushroom, french fries. However the Turbot wrapped in potato crust was extremely salty and not cooked right. The lobster mac and cheese was hard to chew. The oysters rockefeller were OK, but nothing special.

Delicious and Affordable

By VanCoerte |

Three of us went here for dinner. We didn't have much time (going to the theatre) so we only ordered entrees (no appetizers or dessert). The service was attentive - we got out in time without feeling rushed - and the food was DELICIOUS! My friend and I had the cod in coconut curry with fingerling potatoes and broccoli rabe. So good. (The curry is very mild). My husband had the rib eye, and practically licked the plate. The best part was the price. For 2 drinks, 3 entrees, tax and 20% tip, the total bill was only $106. We weren't stuffed (it would have been nice to have had time for soup or something), but we weren't hungry. The entrees were the perfect size. I've already started recommending this place to friends. And I'm looking forward to going back and trying some of the other dishes.

Excellent choice for dinner

By Melissa A |

I don't know why, but I wasn't' expecting much from this restaurant and was hugely surprised. We went for dinner and were lucky enough to partake in happy hour. Drinks were great. Service was great. Food was excellent. We had oysters (part of happy hour at $1 each) and then my friend had a short rib. I think it was a Korean style, which I had a bit of and it was delicious. I had a salmon dish that was fresh and really full of flavor. Our server was super nice and efficient. No room for dessert! LMAO This is a great restaurant and I recommend it highly.

overpriced and underfed

By Isolde B |

This restaurant used to be the go-to place for lunch, near my office ..Food was good and the prices were right..Suddenly, the $18.00 lunch lobster roll is now $27.95,,,for exactly the same plate of food. And a $3.00 cup of coffee is now refilled by your server for ANOTHER $3.00 !!..Be prepared to be underwhelmed and overpaying for very poor service and no second cup of coffee!!

Beautiful Space, Great Food

By Nick M |

I've been by Sagaponack a few times for dinner or drinks, and recently for a business event. The service is always great, the bar is welcoming, the food is a good balance of land & sea, and the wines are A++

A little gem

By metrochik |

I have lunched here twice and really enjoy this little place. The menu offers many selections from salads, sandwiches and entrees. I really enjoyed my grilled shrimp BLT. The Shrimp was perfectly prepared and came with a side salad of mesclun greens; the dressing was yummy. My friend had the spicy crab sandwich with a side of pesto fries; the crab was great but I really loved the pesto fries! Just a breath of pesto flavor; simply perfect! My other friend had the spicy Korean BBQ sandwich which had peppers, mushrooms and a spicy sweet sauce. Also very tasty. The decor is beachy elegant with lovely paintings, shells and other seaside accoutrements. It's a small quiet restaurant perfect for lunch or dinner.

A place for a conversation

By donchamp |

Besides having great food at a reasonable price, you can actually have a conversation in this restaurant, even at the bar. Our group of 8 had a very comfortable table. Very friendly waitstaff. Reasonable wine and beverage cost.

Hampton vibe in NYC

By toni b |

I've eaten at Sagaponack several times for both lunch and dinner and I've never been disappointed. The food is consistently good and the service friendly & helpful (such a relief for this area of Manhattan - hate the bad attitudes that come with spending bucket loads of money). Dishes I've tried and loved: Crab Cakes, Crab & Tuna Spicy Timbale, Skate (although this is no longer on the menu) - Lobster Mac & Cheese is excellent. This section of 22nd Street in the Flatiron is nothing special but you feel transported when you walk in the front door.

Most underrated seafood restaurant in NYC!

By Paul A |

I love seafood and it’s extremely tough to find a great one in the city. This place is beyond my expectations! They have a concise menu so every item was s hit. Cannot stop raving about this place. From their fresh oysters to their small bites and main dishes, everything was so good. Cocktails were phenomenal is well. This is one of the most underrated place in NYC!

Best meal we had in NYC

By LC419 |

I didn't get a chance to take a pic of my meal when it first came out because I dove into it too fast. The kids had the Fish & Chips and we're raving about their food during the whole meal. The French fries were the best we've ever had anywhere. I had the salmon with brussel sprouts. Even if you hate brussel sprouts, you will love these. I literally cleaned my plate but did stop short of holding it up to my face to lick any remains. The lobster bisque was tasty but a little on thin side. I prefer a creamier bisque and at least 4-5 chunks of lobster. My husband loved the fish tacos and cleaned his plate as well.

Amazing food and great staff

By Tom P |

I found the food to be exceptional at Sagaponack. Really high quality dishes that were each done so well which was a pleasant surprise. On top of that, the friendly staff made the whole dining experience feel very smooth and natural, they were never overbearing or too distracted to come over to the table. For my meal, I started with some raw and dressed oysters to keep it light. I moved onto the fluke tartare, cavatelli, brussel sprouts, and risotto. Exceptional. I ended with some dessert and had the creme brulee. Definitely plan on coming back to try more of their menu!

The impression on the restuarant

By TAE HEE L |

It is Sagaponack that I'll never forget. Because it satisfied my five senses, on top of that their kindness was the icying on the cake. The impression on the cozy restaurant is so great that it will last forever!

Surprised by how good it is given some reviews

By Carr B |

This place has worked hard to feel different....to show case it's seafood focus. Perhaps that just doesn't work perfectly in Flatiron, but I loved the change. The bar is beautiful and the design elements really worked for me to differentiate from all the other typical Flatiron places like the ABC franchises and Cosme or Burger and Lobster. The food was really good too. I'd take this lobster roll over anything else in the neighborhood..and the drinks were great too.

Great happy hour

By Christopher B |

This place is a block from the flatiron building and Madison Square Park. The family had been exploring NYC all morning and decided to go into Sagaponack for happy hour. They had Malpeque oysters for $1 and great drink specials. Kids ordered some appetizers that were all excellent. Highly recommend this place

Good, nice priced fresh seafood;

By David D |

I'll make this short, since I only had Brunch, but the prices are good, the crab cakes are real, not a lot of filler, Salmon- fresh, I believe the ingredients are good quality - to me that is the start of any good meal, you can't build a brick house w/ straw blocks..( I don't even know why I said that)! anyway - I am looking forward to a lobster dinner or a fresh fish at this place soon. Warning- it is a beach/ L.I. looking place, not fancy, super upper east or midtown high end look. As long as it's clean, I follow the food, not trend.

Terrific value

By Irma G |

The happy hour which runs from 5:00-7:00 enables one to buy drinks for $5, so things can be noisy. However, after 7:00, things quiet down. The menu is varied and offers a large selection of entrees. My friends were very happy with a bouillabaise which was too large for two people. The salmon wellington served with asparagus was very nice, and another friend enjoyed the fish and chips. Our waiter was new and inexperienced but sweet and apologetic when he got mixed up. Coffee was served in a large cup. The food is not gourmet, but it is tasty and the portions are large. The rolls were also very good.

Lunch

By David B |

Enjoyed lunch last week with my wife and a dear friend, got to sit by the window, though had to ask the server to lower the speaker, couldn't hear our conversation. We had the fish tacos and I had the Lobster BLT!!!

Great Food, Great Value!

By Nisch_p |

Visited Sagaponack during July 2017 for early dinner (Happy Hour). Interesting bar/restaurant with excellent daily and happy hour specials. We tried the oysters, the salmon and ribeye steak. Everything was excellent 5 Stars. Probably the best ribeye deal in New York 20oz for $26. Amazing quality and taste. The salmon was also excellent portion size and taste. We tried to visit again during our stay in NY but couldn't. Service was excellent. Don't hesitate to visit this gem!

Delightful New Year's Eve Experience!

By Kathryn B |

Our group of 8 had a delightful New Year's Eve dinner at Sagaponack! The staff was extremely friendly, but also professional. Our waiter Seth was charming. The menu had a wonderful variety of items to choose from and everything we chose was delicious. My favorite was a small tower of tuna, crab and avocado. Yumm! I highly recommend Sagaponack!

Like it soooo much.

By Primo250 |

We liked it so much that we have been back there twice. The first time we went it was based on a review I read online. The food is very good. The decoy is very nice. Nicely located in the Flatiron District of New York City.

Our voices were echoing

By OrmondBeachFL |

I know it was the Tuesday night after Memorial Day but Sagaponack was DEAD! Lots of "we are out of's" like the clam chowder. Had oysters on the half shell which were good. Mussels in curry sauce were good. Salad greens were fresh and shrimp on salad was cooked correctly. Chicken had crispy skin but was a little oily. Food was good overall. Service was attentive but not in our faces. But seeing as we were one of only three tables in the restaurant the food came out VERY slowly. Would hate to be there on a busy night.

Grat happy hour!

By Katie |

Nice place, friendly staff and wonderful happy hour deals. The oysters were delicious! Good choice of beers and cocktails. Thanks for having us :)

Happy hour at happy place

What a gem! Great atmosphere, great food, delicious drinks. Professional friendly hostesses, waiters and bartenders. Great kitchen that prepares beautiful generous meals. We’ll keep coming back...

Good Food Good Service No Rush

By Leonard G |

Came to meet with family we hadn't seen for a while on a late afternoon. We were given all the time to talk and got great friendly service. Had never been here before and had zero expectation. What a fabulous surprise. The food was great and five people had four different dishes, from lobster to paella. Prices were very reasonable for the Flat Iron section of New York. We will return.

Find in Flatiron

By Antionio10 |

I like this place. Perfect for lunch. Lots of tasty dishes, friendly service, and nice setting. This if a find in the Flatiron.

Really good

By Chris B |

We stayed in New York for 5 days and ate at various restaurants and cafes. The Sagaponack was the last and by far the best we tried. Had it not been our last day we would have returned for sure. We booked a table for 6.30pm and were glad we did as the place was very vibrant and busy. As there is little sound deadening material and the room is long and narrow it was quite noisy, but that did not detract from the general ambiance. The waitress was very attentive, the drink very good and the food exceptional. Nothing more to say really...

Delightful Dinner

By Cindy J |

This was a wonderful dinner locale in the Flatiron area. Small group of 6 - we had ample room to visit, drink and dine. Service was very good but the food really shined. Pappadell with Korean short ribs melted in my mouth. Other guests entrees looked yummy as well. The mussels as an appetizer is a must! One order was plenty. Great food, great service, great price!

A tale of two restaurants

By A B |

We are visiting NYC and ate at Sagaponack on a Sunday evening. The night before we ate at another restaurant which I will review else. The contrast between the two was startling. Sagaponack hits all the right notes. Service was attentive, prompt, and polite. Drink orders were taken right away. The atmosphere was quiet and subtly lit. The menu offers a number of small and large shareables. We had the risotto with tiger shrimp, chorizo, fennel and chili. Absolutely delicious. For dessert we had Thai cake, a wonderful combination of sponge cake and Thai tea. Prices were reasonable. Sagaponack is located at 4 W. 22d St. it is highly recommended.

For seafood lovers

By Michel T |

I live in the area and I come here regularly and it's always good, fresh sea food, great lobster roll, sweet taste just right. Not crowded on the earlier side, great service without fuss. The drinks are made fresh no cheap mixers. Some dishes have a exotic/Asian flavor...just what some sea food needs. The maitre D name is Christian.

Why all the great reviews?

By NaomiNYC |

I went after reading so many great reviews and therefore expected an at least good seafood dinner. Ordered two kinds of oysters. Neither addition to each pair of oysters( smoked tomato, then curry) added any flavor to an already small, mediocre oyster. ( I suggest instead the large, juicy, breaded oysters at Japonica on University Place. ) Brussels sprouts’ added flavors did not enhance these veggies. They were almost burnt. Ordered two orders of steak, one for each of two people. They gave us one plate of steak. We thought it was the two orders put together on one plate and we told them how small the portion was. That’s how we serve it, they said. Only when reading the check did we learn they only charged us for one person, as they thought we had only ordered it for one person. Wine was fine. Told them we didn’t like the meal. They kept apologizing and gave us complimentary, super sweet, huge piece of layer cake. Told us they promised to “take care of you” if we come back.

Luncheon with the girls

By marie s |

Good, but not good enough to go back again. I am sorry to say that this place was a disappointment to me and my friends. We expected much more from the wait staff and the food. This place is in the Flaturon district. The staff seemed hassled this day. Our salad of kale etc. was not flavored enough. I had the stuffed mushroom over quinoa which was tasteless. I love healthy, but taste is important. Maybe this was an off day, since friends have told us how good this place is. Unfortunately, I won't be back.

OK for Dinner

By Tom F |

My wife and I went here while in NYC for the weekend. I used another service where this was ranked higher than it probably deserves. The place was pretty packed and service was good. My wife had the Portobello Burger and I had the fish and chips. The burger was pretty good. My fish and chips were at or below average.

Great local NYC Spot.

By michaelc274 |

Went here Saturday night for dinner. The decor is upscale Hamptons and very warm and inviting. The bar is really nice and large to sit and enjoy their large beer selection. We weren't crowded in and had plenty of space which is not common here in NYC. All the food we ordered was fantastic and exceeded our expectations. Had the Raw Clams and Crabcakes for apps and the Filet and Chicken. Will certainly be back soon. Brunch looks great too.

Bon apetit!

By Bindler |

Dinner started with the flatbread and grilled octopus. Wonderful flavors with just enough heat on both to entice the palate without drowning out the seafood. The seasoning was spot on. One of my biggest pet peeves about eating out at a restaurant is the amount of salt they add to make things 'taste good'. Not at all the experience here. The raw spring salad was a beautiful dish to behold. Lightly seasoned with the dressing on the side to boot. The duck was delicate, skin perfectly seared and lightly rendered to melt the delicious fat against the meat. Finishing off the meal was a frozen soufflé, caramel and salt topping off the lightly sweetened almost creme like body. The whiskey selection is top notch, if I had 1 critique it would be to expand to bourbons and ryes!

Best seafood in NYC

By Kelly w |

This place has the best Asian inspired seafood in New York. All the dishes were to die for and if you haven't tried the fluke tartar you haven't lived. Highly recommend and even thinking to go back for lunch now I've seen they added a lobster roll to their lunch menu

MMMMMM... Brunch/Lunch

By rxlazar |

Enjoyed the lunch and service! Service is good, presentation is delightful, food is good. Leans toward the Mexican spice side, but finish with Chocolate Brownie sundae and you will be totally satisfied.

Superb Food - Irritating Ambiance

By Forest-Hills-Cynic |

Sagaponack - the village - a place of refuge where you regain your soul through quiet restoration by nature, beach & ocean. Sagaponack - the restaurant - is anything but: Loud pounding music that makes conversation impossible; Walls, tables & floors made from plastic faux weathered wood. A Lilliputian restaurant made for tiny people: tiny immigrant waiters from countries where starvation stunts growth; 18" wide tiny tables accommodating only the tiny portions served: paella prepared in an iron skillet 5" wide; the 1.5" half shell oysters. Steel chairs so small that no one weighing more than150 lbs could fit them. That being said - the food was superb: paella is a hard dish to prepare properly as each seafood ingredient must be individually cooked to preserve its flavor & texture: scallops & shrimp are sautéed, clams & mussels boiled in sauce, etc before being combined with the saffron rice. If all the ingredients are baked together, a glutenous dish with dried out, rubbery shell fish is created. My paella was delicious: the buttery shrimp tender with a hint of the ocean; the scallops browned to sweet & nutty perfection; the clams & mussels spicy; I've never had better. Tender Baby Calamari in tempura batter - not entombed in a thick bread crust. Oysters on the ½ shell, just plucked from the bay. A grilled 1 ½ lb lobster at only $23 - a bargain. Prices were low $teens for appetizers and drinks; low to mid $twenties for entrees - typical NYC menu prices. The charges must reflect the rent & labor of fine cooking and not the cost of raw materials - as the portions were tiny, tasting menu sized. The only fair priced item was the lobster, which reflects the fact that Maine lobstermen are getting only $2.50/lb now.

Such a cute place

By afelric1 |

Great food, great lunch specials, such a cute place. Lots of fish options but they have a good chicken sandwich.

Good food in a fun atmosphere

By BruceSXM |

My wife and I ate here with two of our adult children recently and enjoyed it thoroughly. Service was excellent and the food choices were plentiful and good. It's a fun place with a lively crowd. Not necessarily fine dining but very good. I recommend it for a casual night out.

...two if by sea

By Kate O |

looking for a good fish restaurant near me (this year i was staying at an apartment on 23rd street) i came on a new opening that might be worth trying. the rather too rare for "medium" salmon was excellent and came with a draping of crunchy stir-fried brussels sprouts--the only way this brassica should be eaten. glad i sat at the bar: the atmosphere was convivial, the staff friendly, and happy hour here extends to a couple of fine white wines. i will definitely go there again next time i'm in new york.

And Exceptional Lunch

By juniemoonie |

Perhaps I need more evidence than two salads to rave about Sagaponack, however my friend ordered the quinoa salad, and I ordered the kale salad, both with grilled salmon. Absolutely delicious. Based on music blasting in the entry way, we thought it might be too noisy, but tucked in the back, it was perfect for conversation. Can't wait to go back.

Fantastic scallops & gnocchi....nice atmosphere...reasonable

By Bee |

Stumbled up SBG this weekend and had a pleasant surprise. Day boat scallops with gnocchi in vegetable ragu was sublime ($26). The gnocchi were light and the scallops grilled to perfection. Tasted this from my dinner companion. I had the portobello mushroom and grilled vegetable tower (carrots, yellow squash, red pepper, eggplant) on arugula with quinoa and pearl mozzarella ($17). Very good - eggplant a little underdone. After tasting the scallops wished I had ordered that entree but was looking for veggie dish. Nice atmosphere - Martha Stewart tones of blue and green, lots of shore/beach decorations. Service was not as great as the food but satisfactory. Other entrees ranged from $18 (loin of pork) to $28. Raw bar. Nice varied menu - heavy on seafood but with chicken, pasta, pork and steak for those not interested in seafood.

Oysters wpecial

By Vegan World traveller |

Nice and cozy, smaller than you would think from outside. More of happy hour place with lot of young crowd here for a drink or two. I was the oysters are speciality here both fried and chilled. The verity I’d fries was awesome. Service was quick and very friendly. In expensive place for a happy hour. Bit noisy for a quite dinner just be aware.

Fantastic food and great service

By intltraveler83 |

Had a lovely dinner at Saganopack with a friend. The restaurant was decently filled with a nice little buzz of conversation but never got too loud or busy. The food was impeccable, with great flavors and the service was very good. I will return soon and will definitely be getting any fish off their menu! I like that the restaurant is slightly hidden, as it definitely is a gem!

Good dinner

By Mbykova |

We had a good experience! Dinner was really good- happy hour oysters were great! Grilled fish and octopus tacos were delicious! Grilled octopus was “the best I ever had” according to one of our friends. Cod main course looked a little small. So would definitely come back.

Great Happy Hour

Needed a place to meet and will be going back. Great beer selection bright airy place to meet after work. Bar bites came out very fast and hot give it a shot

Great find- nice atmosphere, fresh seafood, and good drinks

By Jeri G |

Had an early dinner here at 5:00 on a weeknight. It was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. Nice relaxing environment conducive to conversation. We ordered grilled oysters (came with a delicious sauce and toasted bread), a cod dish that my friend really enjoyed, and the snow crab legs from the Saga special menu- a generous portion and the best snow crab I've ever had-really fresh and sweet. Came with very good fries. For dessert we had the caramel souffle (not really a souffle), which was amazing, and very light so order it even if you think you're too full! It was happy hour, so select wines and cocktails were $5 and $9 -highly recommend the one with mermaid in the name if you like a fruity cocktail. Service was attentive and friendly.

Very good restaurant for a date night

By ColonelPSU |

We went to Sagaponack for valentine's day dinner, after finding the location on Open Table. Very good location, easy to get to. The bread was outstanding and they had a nice wine selection. Service was very good and the food was solid. We were too full after dinner for desert! And the prices were reasonable. I definitely would go here again.

Excellent special event execution!

We had the rehearsal dinner for my son's wedding here, primarily based on location and there being a pleasant private dining mezzanine. The planning started off a little rough, I believe due to a change in management over the summer, but chef Franco Lee came through with flying colors at the end. The food for the dinner was better than we had sampled at a regular meal at the restaurant - excellent appetizers (crab cakes, tuna, oysters) and delicious entrees of cod and filet mignon. Franco cheerfully accommodated all our requests for the menu, ambiance and service, and worked hard to see that everything went smoothly, and the prices were quite reasonable. I would definitely recommend Sagaponack for a special private dinner.

Best Place in Mid-Town

By Alexander Agostini |

I have to say - and I'm a very critical person that analyzes everything in detail - this is the best place I've been to in the United States, great service, good food, great atmosphere, will go there again. Photos are seen below, good price for value, compared to the location.

Thoroughly Enjoyed, Moreso than the Real Place

By NYFoodDude |

The real place, Sagaponack, NY, is crowded and overpriced. This was casual, priced right and not too loud or crowded. We had a lot of what was on the menu, and enjoyed everything. Service was very good too. Lobster mac and cheese was exceptional Fish was fresh. Only suggestion to restaurant - reglue the star fish on the wall picture, and do a better job dusting the ledges behind the booths. \

Cozy, Comfy Food

By Jorlin P |

This is the place to go for quick sit down sea food. Everything was well-seasoned and tasty. A lot of the dishes come as a set with a side of salad and really, really good fries, which was especially convenient at their very reasonable price. The pappardelle had a good portion but was a little too salty. Despite this, it still tasted quite good, just make sure to drink more water while eating. The grilled octopus to share was the surprise star of the meal. Octopus is hard to cook well while keeping the texture and flavoring, but the chef definitely did a perfect job on this one! Highly recommend at least getting this dish!

Perfect evening in a relaxing and comfortable restaurant

By Marcicohen |

We were looking for a place to eat with a large group . Our criteria was that the food be great , the cost reasonable and that could accommodate healthy diets . We got all of the above including amazing service and food that far surpassed our expectations . The bill was so reasonable . What a nice surprise for a NYC restaurant . I highly recommend it .

Hamptons in the City

By L Fred C |

Our event in September was foreshadowed by super experiences on successive days in August. We started with a brunch for twelve, kind of in their front window then a snack later at the bar for two. What they had in common with the event for 70 in September was friendly, very competent service and outstanding food. The brunch included a varied array including lobster rolls, lobster omelets, and more normal fare. All was very good. The snack was while at the bar discussing the upcoming event with Janai. We were brought out a sample of their lemon chicken soup and it was fantastic. While friends and family alike raved about the food at the event later in September, what we'll remember more is the friendly atmosphere and dedication by Amy and Janai to make our event so memorable.

Surprised how good

By Marilyn A |

Saw oysters on a billboard sign as we were walking to another restaurant. Walked in and ordered oysters and other dishes to share. Unfortunately calamari was out of stock. Looks like a bar from outside but a restaurant. We Will surely go back

Perfect lunch spot

I continually return to this restaurant and, happily, am continually pleased with the food, service and ambiance.

Excellent Happy Hour and Great Oysters!

By slimK |

First of all, this is a very attractive place... not exactly the Hamptons but it'll do the trick if you're looking for NYC by the sea. The happy hour $5.00 for wine and $4.00 for draft beers is one of the best in the city. In addition, even though it seems that every bar in Manhattan is offering them, do try the dollar oysters. They are above the usual long island variety. My friend had the medium rare steak and he insists it was one of the best he every had. Absolutely perfectly cooked which is not an easy thing to do.

Upgraded rating since my last visit

By EliteTravellers |

I rated food as average last year and the 2 dishes we had this evening were good. Visited last week for dinner mid-week and while not very busy enjoyed a pleasant evening with our server GustavoF. I enjoyed the seared cod and my guest the snow crablegs. We wanted to have dessert but they were out of several choices which was a bit disappointing and surprising on a quiet night. Quite spacious inside with tables all the way back.

Fun, affordable food and drink at happy hour

By B E |

well priced drinks and food during happy hour if you can get a table downstairs. Flavorful fried things and yummy oysters.

Not an oyster bar!

By Ron S |

The oysters were not very fresh, and a few kinda gross. The calamari was overcooked little bits of crumble with no flavor. Maybe the worst calamari I’ve had in 10 years. The spicy lobster roll was excellent however.

Nothing short of excellent

Visited on a friday night, had reserved a table but it was not busy so would have been ok not to. Restaurant decor v cute and quaint like the seaside, makes you feel like youve stepped out of nyc for the evening. Lovely little menu, 4 of us had starters and entrees with no faults whatsoever from perfectly cooked steaks to perfectly flaky seabass but sadly with no room for dessert, all washed down with a couple of bottles of wine from an appropriately sized wine list for $75 a head (inc tax and tip)-such good value!! The staff were all lovely and attentative too, topping up wine, continuously making sure we are ok without suffocating us (like we have found in other restaurants) etc. if i were to have one gripe it would be that the female toilets were a little messy (empty loo rolls/blocked toilet), but most of the staff were male so would not have noticed that i guess. Anyway tiny tiny factor! Such a lovely meal, i urge everyone visitng nyc to dine here, will definitely be returning.

Great restaurant in midtown

Been a few times and consistently good. Good food and service, place could do with a little bit of tidying up but that's only being super critical. It's close to the flat iron building and near 5th Ave.

Michelin-starred cuisine at affordable prices🤩

By Daria |

Always wanted to try Michelin-starred food in NYC but were scared away by the $$$$ price tag? Sagaponack in Flat Iron district is the place to go 🤩 Not one, but TWO CHEFS who received Michelin stars will cook the most delicious meal just for you! Yesterday we had a pleasure of dining here, and I must say - we enjoyed every single bite! Some of our favorites: - Fluke tartar (features in this video) - a MUST! - Raw dressed oysters with different flavors (cucumber, chili and caviar - was our fav 😍) - Burrata, accompanied by cabocha squash and streusel Not only the food was yummy, the service was also outstanding throughout our experience - no wonder Sagaponack has straight 5 star reviews🙌 Kyung and Patrick, the managers here, take pride in ensuring their guests have the best experience and you can tell they are passionate about their trade! Dear Fellow Foodie, thank you for reading all the way through this review, I hope it was helpful :) please PRESS THUMBS UP BUTTON if that is so :) If you have questions about the restaurant, want to see more photos and videos or just want to say Hi, feel free to reach out to my INSTA @daria.newyork ❤️ Cheers to good people, magnificent places and unique experiences!

Dinner value

By viewlover49 |

This place gets a wow from me, a dedicated foodie. If you like steak and lobster at a very reasonable price without sacrificing quality, you will be highly satisfied. My wife ordered the 20 oz. ribeye med-rare and it was not only cooked to perfection but was the finest we've enjoyed in years since I'm convinced that prime meat in New York is better than San Diego, where we live. A whole lobster was $26 and it was fantastic as well. The owner himself delivered the food to our table and was as polite and pleasant as anyone could hope for. Nice bar also, with a happy hour until 7 PM serving locally sourced everything; oysters, beer, wine etc. If I lived here I would dine here every week.

Fabulous fish

I've eaten at Sagaponack a few times and each time everyone has been completely satisfied. The restaurant is decorated in calming colors and is charming. The last meal I had was mussels and skate, prepared perfectly! My friend had the crab cakes and lobster roll and loved it. The food is consistently good and well prepared. The only negative is that the service is somewhat slow.

Great $1 oysters and $5 happy hour wines. Can be a bit noisy, but great bartender made it a happy experience. Will be back

Beach ambience and good lobster roll

By wywyno |

I went a couple of times to this restaurant - always on weeknights, and it is not crowded at 7:00PM. That alone is a treat in NYC where sometimes you feel like you are sitting on other people! The menu looks varied and interesting, and the friendly waiter recited a couple of daily specials, but I can't resist the lobster roll. 5 ounces of fresh lobster in a light and creamy sauce, heaped on a nice roll with French fries and a salad. Divine and delicious. We also had the crab, avocado, spicy tuna, and mango tower - which was great. It's a small portion for an appetizer, but good flavors and well put-together. The beachy ambience is fun, and the upstairs and downstairs dining rooms pleasant. The only hitch on the latest stay was that we were not "allowed" to sit at one of the comfortable corner banquettes (we were two and they were set for 3 or 4). Disappointed, we sat at one of the more uncomfortable tables for 2. The corner banquettes were still empty when we left - so we could have really enjoyed ourselves. Too bad, but still the place is fine.

Attentive Staff, Okay Food

By Barbara Zapson |

Six of us went there for Mother's Day early dinner. One of the men tried to order a Sagaponack Beer. The waiter thought he was joking. They never heard of it in this restaurant. You would think that they would have made a point of having a namesake drink available. We had to wait for one of our party who had been delayed, and the waitstaff was very understanding and attentive ... but then again, there were only three tables of people at 6pm. The restaurant is pretty and the presentation of food was very nice. I would say stick to the appetizers and dessert if you go there as the entrees seemed overcooked but the appetizers and desserts were delicious. Since they only served the price-fix for Mother's Day, it was also pretty expensive, $55 p.p. for 3 courses. It was great spending time with my family!
