Good Italian cuisine. The delicious entrees, farro, asparagus, salads. Very good strong dishes called lunch special 26 and battuta di Manzo. Very friendly and efficient service.

Its definitely not a mind blowing Italian cuisine. On the positive side the atmosphère and the service are very nice. Food wise: - we had quite average cheese and ham plate - truffle pasta was basically pasta floating in butter with 3 pieces of truffle on top for 60$. Ive eaten much better for less Unfortunately can’t really recommend this place as price-value ratio is off here.

Awesome evening with great meal, homemade pasta, outstanding italian wine by the glass and unbeatable service by Armando and the team. We will come back.

Domenico very kind and nice Local where you can breathe Italy while being in NY. Excellent paccheri with tomato and burrata and also excellent tajurin with rabbit sauce. Pasta cooked al dente perfectly! Super espresso

We had dinner with some friends in this restaurant located in SoHo a short walk from Canal Street. The food was fabulous. The Brasato di Guancia (beef cheeks cooked for 7 hours) was fantastic. The meat melted in your mouth. Also, the pasta with Alba truffle and an original dessert (ice cream with truffle shavings) were excellent too. If you like delicate Italian food, this is the place to go. Quite expensive but worth it.

This was our first time to San Carlo and it was nice. I went with my daughter and her boyfriend. We started with the Tomino appetizer which was delicious. The cheese had lots of flavor, we loved it. For entrees, I had the Anatra duck, my daughter had the raviolini del plin and her boyfriend had a risotto duck and mushroom special. My duck was very good. The duck was cooked perfectly, not overly done. It came with figs and pureed cabbage. Both paired well. My daughter wasn't as pleased with her choice. The broth was more gelatinous than she expected and there wasn't as much meat as she expected. Her boyfriend loved his risotto. For dessert, we shared the chocolate flan. It was rich but very tasty and came with some small cookies.

Are you Italian and fancy Italian food during your New York vacation? Osteria San Carlo is the right choice: excellent quality Piedmontese food, prepared, kind and helpful waiters and of course the inevitable Italian music in the background! I recommend pasta in particular because it is homemade and beef (soft and cooked to perfection). Rice, a typical product of my region and not cooked (as it is often found in restaurants abroad), cannot be missed. Good value for money.

Had an impromptu lunch there today. The food and service were exceptional. Excellent mozzarella followed by a superb Caesar salad. My wife and I both had excellent pasta dishes. The wine list is very good. Overall I strongly recommend this restaurant and will definitely return

I’ve been there with my girlfriend (she is originally from Piedmont, Italy). The restaurant is elegant, with a nice atmosphere: a good fit for both romantic and friends dinners. Food is simply authentic, with excellent ingredients’ quality. My girlfriend was very happy to taste again the flavors of her childhood. Service is fast and accurate. Price is fair, especially considering outstanding food quality and location: $138 for 2 people for: 2 starters, 2 main courses, 2 desserts, 2 glasses of Italian red wine, 2 glasses of Italian dessert wine. We’ll surely be back!

Excellent restaurant across the board. We looked long and hard for a place to book dinner, we made a great choice. The manager (I think) was incredibly welcoming, our server recognized we wanted to take our time... incredibly accommodating with both time, allowing us to taste various wines. On top of all of that the food was excellent, very good vitello tonnato, followed by great wild boar ragu/pasta. Really enjoyed the small intimate feel of the place as well. Highly recommend.

A rare find - true Italian food outside of Italy. San Carlo delivered a delightful culinary and dining experience. The waitstaff is excellent - making for a memorable evening.

master and waiter kind and polite, food very good, mood smart and price not too high. See you next time!

I’d rate this place as excellent. The food was delicious, and as an Italian woman I’d really recommend it. The staff was so friendly and it was great that they could talk Italian.

This restaurant is truly a gem in the SoHo area. Their truffle repertoire is amazing, their wine list incomparable!!!!

This is one of our favorite restaurants in NYC, mainly because of the different, interesting menu. While this is an Italian restaurant, this is NOT a red sauce place. We were here fro dinner last night. My husband had the "eggplant meatballs" and I had the seared scallops with fennel for appetizers. We shared an order of ravioli stuffed with artichokes and ricotta in a butter and mint sauce. Our server suggested we ask for it without the mint and he was right on. It was fantastic. Then for a main course I had the roasted duck breast and my husband had the NY strip steak with arugula and shaved parmesan. Everything was amazing. The duck and the steak were done just as we requested. The wine list has some very interesting offerings from Pedmonte and Lombardia. We had a Ghemme from Pedmonte, a nebbiolo that you rarely find in a restaurant. The wines were all affordable, with a reserve list of very high-end wines if you are looking for something special. The staff here is knowledgeable and very friendly from the manager to the waitstaff to the bartender. We ate inside, but they have a lot of tables outside as well. A great meal and a fabulous experience.

The food was good, but it could have been a little more flavorful. Homemade pasta was good, it the sauces were just a little underwhelming. Had the ragu and a truffled cream sausage pasta.

This restaurant is as good as many top restaurants we had been to in Piemonte, Italy, whether it was in Turin or Alba, Barolo, etc. The Tajarin is al dente, a skill that most American Italian restaurants lack, and absorbed all the flavors of the rabbit sauce without swimming in sauces. When a restaurant can do Tajarin right, there is no need to say more. A great find in NYC. Very reasonably priced. Great Value. Must go.

We eat really well ...... then it's perfect for Italians..try the veal tonne '.... but the rest is delicious too

Exceptional Products and Service! Delicious meals and beverages! Sangiovese wine!!!! A taste of Italy in New York City.

Really great and affordable place to have a quick lunch in SoHo. The waiters were nice and the food really delicious!

Not even in Italy do you eat so well! I stayed with my mom two nights in a row and we can't wait to go back the next time we're in New York. The place is welcoming and the atmosphere is very cozy. Mauro welcomed us warmly and all the staff are super kind and friendly. The dishes are very well prepared and above all they are mouth-watering!! The agnolotti del Plin are spacey, but everything is delicious, from the starters to the desserts. You can sense that there is research behind every course. Overall, highly recommended!

On a NY vacation with my daughter not wanting to eat at one of the touristic Little Italy restaurants we visited San Carlo. Research on forehand brought us here. Great atmosphere and great service (Domenico) and delicious food, Vitello Tonnato, Coquilles, Gnocchie & Raviolie with Italian cheese as dessert! One small minor point is the speed between the starter and the main course, but that seems to be standard in NY. Lovely and tasteful evening!

We had reservations and when we arrived we were seated to our table. Our server was pleasant and very informative on the specials for the day. We ordered our meal within minutes. The restaurant was busy and all the tables were occupied. The food we ordered was cooked to perfection; The polpo con patate dolci and zuppetta di mare! The menu was extensive with many choices to choose from.

Busy Friday night. Very happy with the quality of all food served. Service was friendly & efficient. Would recommend.

As you stroll through the characteristic streets of Soho, I recommend you to stop at San Carlo Osteria Piemonte, where I had dinner with my family. High quality raw materials, strictly Italian. Excellent value for money. Cozy atmosphere, warmth and professionalism. A wide selection of wines from Italian wineries. In this beautiful trip in the trip, welcomed us and excellently accompanied Mirko, whom we thank for his great hospitality and professionalism.

It is rare that you have a meal and think “how is it possible to make something taste so good?” That was our experience at San Carlo! It is that good. The service was impeccable. The cocktails and wine were very good. The food is the star!

I'm a huge fan of picolla cucina on Spring St and I still think they have the best pastas in New York. It's my favorite in NYC, but a block away is San Carlo which may bemy second favorite. It is slightly different in terms of the menu, with less focus on pasta. It also has a slightly larger footprint with a small intimate bar, and has a very good wine and cocktail list. The service is warm and friendly. Exceptional all the way around!!

We were in NYC to see two musicals (Music Man and Six) to celebrate sister-in-laws birthday and anniversary and her husband found this for dinner when we arrived. The service was excellent, the range of choices was excellent (vegetarians and carnivores were happy). We have all travelled in Italy and were quite satisfied with the taste and quality. Would definitely go again.

This is the spot that every Italian should have in mind when they want a taste of home. Authentic, no-compromise Piedmontese food and great hospitality. 100% recommended

I don't usually write reviews but this one is highly deserved for the quality of the products offered and the courtesy of all the staff. If you want to get out of the chaos of Time Square and want to immerse yourself in the soud of SoHo, a spectacular neighborhood, this is an excellent Italian osteria.

The proprietor, Davide, accepted our last-minute dinner reservation on a busy summer weekend, which also happened to be our wedding anniversary. Though the place was packed, he and his staff welcomed us warmly and proceeded to make a big fuss over us. We were seated at a sidewalk table with a beautiful view of the Freedom Tower, and the sommelier made a great wine recommendation to complement our meal. A surprise sparkler on our dessert was the "cherry on top" of a very special evening. We will surely return!

Quality dinner and honest prices for the city of New York... I recommend the agnolotti and the lasagnetta with artichokes and asparagus. Sergio (manager) and all the highly trained staff are very welcoming

The lunch menu was delicious and the staff was very kind. The place is also very nice. I definitely recommend it.

Very nice dinner here last night. Not inexpensive, but not exorbitant. Very good food, service, and ambiance. Surprisingly easy to get a reservation. And, very comfortable.

Excellent, attentive, warm service. All entrees delicious and enjoyed. Ambience lively yet relaxed and not too loud. Server was friendly and amusing and helpful. GF pasta dish did not disappoint, nor did lamb meatballs or fried artichoke!!!

It is not the best Italian restaurant I have been, but the food, atmosphere and the service are good.

As a Piedmontese I can confirm that the cuisine proposed is authentic and well cared for. It was a very pleasant experience: well presented dishes and extremely kind staff. My friends and I felt like home. Thank you for the welcome and the great food!

Was greatly pleased by this discovery in Soho. The staff is great and the food more than incredible plus a good selection of wine makes this a pleasant place to eat.

Having just arrived in New York, we went to the San Carlo, where we got a table. Friendly atmosphere, the seating is very close together, but not unpleasant. The food was plentiful and some of it was really typical of the region. The vitello and the tartare were well prepared and presented, the pasta was delicious and the veal cheek on spinach was really very good. The Nebiolo was pretty good. All in all, I would recommend it.

In NYC, you know, many Italian reastaurants are a fake, nothing Italian inside, only the name. We were here many times, the quality is the best, the pasta actually handmade and also the gnocchis, and you find real Italian truffles. Anything perfect, the service very professional, extraordinary wines from Piemonte region, the place is clean and nice. I can only say that sometimes is a little bit too noisy for my taste, but always a stunning experience.

We had dinner at San Carlo osteria Piemonte, a restaurant with typical Piedmontese cuisine and more. Excellent dishes and wine list Exceptional. Nice environment, attentive and professional staff. Thanks to Mirko for guiding us in the choices. Everything's great. Highly recommended.

Had a nice meal sat outside on the terrace Service was friendly and food good We ordered the duck ravioli and 2 x mushroom truffle pastas which were good, although my wife had the chicken which she thought was a bit dry The waiters were good and chose a nice red for me

We just loved it! Perfect piemontese dishes, carefully prepared with slices of white tartufo. Everything was delicious.

Friendly welcome. Food and flavors were excellent with nice and fresh products in a cosy place. We recommend especially the revisited receipt of the famous Piedmontese vitello tonnato.

Very nice restaurant with good choices of food from the Italian cuisine. Friendly staff who are very knowledgeable and helpful.

Great food with even greater service! I have not had service like this in a looong time. The whole staff was charming, attentive and very accommodating. The burrata was incredible, as well as the ragu pasta! Highly recommend this place!

Domenico was amazing! He made us feel like we were at home and in Italy at the same time! His customer service was phenomenal. Thank you so much!

Although there are hundreds of Italian restaurants in Little Italy, most of them have a rather simple menu of pizza and pasta, enough to satisfy the tourists. There are a few exceptions that offer good quality Italian cuisine. One of them is Osteria San Carlo. There you will find modern, creative and well-crafted specialties of classic Piedmontese cuisine. We had an excellent meal in a very pleasant atmosphere, of course at a slightly higher price than at the usual pseudo-Italian restaurants on Mulberry Street. The restaurant is loud and lively, very busy, and a reservation via the Internet is highly recommended.

Service was amazing , very personal staff and food was scrumptious. Mirko is an amazing waiter with an entertaining personality.

Hard to find proper Italian restaurant (many are just some mix of weird sauce on meat, yucks) with nice list of wines, fair prices for Manhattan, excellent service.

I practically never eat in Italian restaurants abroad but I made an exception by taking a family trip with a little girl and two parents in tow. Really nice place frequented by young people, fast service. We ate very well and the tiramisu is amazing! Definitely recommended

Good filleta di manza ( t bone steak) of huge size. Very good ravioli. Portions are not small. The restaurant is pricey, but it is the quality you pay for.

I always come here when I am in NY for work. Even though I'm alone I feel totally comfortable and able to eat and drink for awhile and enjoy the atmosphere in addition to the awesome food. Great service and vibe.

Very nice food. Staff couldn't do enough to provide food that wasn't on the menu for my 2 nieces aged 11 and 13. Nice selection of wines and nice atmosphere.

Very good. Expensive$$$$ Great wine - we ordered the special fish without asking the price. Big mistake. They really should have told us.

Exquisite food and service. Northern Italian is my favorite and this did not disappoint. The food was impeccable the ambiance of a neighborhood gem held true. I would come back week after week if I could.

True Italian food (piemontese) outside Italy. It was a real tasty flavour and dining experience. The staff is welcoming and work with passion and heart. would return and would highly recommend it.

what an amazing experience! The vibe was everything you want for spring in NYC. The french doors were open, allowing us to have a nice dining experience inside but to feel the vibe of Soho on a nice day. The food was fantastic and I will be back very soon!

Terrible experience, we had really looked forward to this restaurant which had good reviews, we always visit different cuisines from the Michelin guide when we are out and travel. But where to start, from this evening, then will understand me in brief. Upon arrival we were placed at the entrance, where they are running service from, which meant that there were servants running around us and three times went into me without apologizing because they were going to crow so many people into a small restaurant. At the same time, the music was so loud and the acoustics so bad that we had to give up talking together. The food was mediocre and far from Michelin level and too expensive priced. Really disappointed and sorry we spent our time in New York, at this restaurant when there are so many other delicious places to eat. Can definitely be recommended to find another place to eat.

The food is fantastic as is the service. Lorenzo our waiter, directed us to some wonderful food. We had an amazing salmon appetizer and 2 different types of Ravioli which were excellent. It was my sons birthday and Lorenzo brought out dessert with a firework like candle and some delicious moscato. A super meal and service. Will be back.

Everything was excellent, service was attentive and professional. They clearly care about their customers. Well chosen wine list had selections from all of Italy, staff was helpful in choosing a good match for the meal. All of our dishes were delicious and authentic, gnudo, tagliatelle, everything first class. Looking forward to returning soon.

This restaurant is totally Italian, the quality of the products is fantastic, I think I have never eaten so well in my entire life that I came back here again.

It was like coming home to Italy. Welcoming and super helpful service, REALLY Italian and very tasty dishes, modern and well-kept place. We ate outside because everything was full inside (I recommend booking). Ps I ate a risotto with prawn tartare, pecorino fondue and aubergine cream...delicious, the dish came back white.

An absolutely wonderful experience Courteous staff very friendly Risotto and ravioli were amazing Great drinks , cozy ambiance Well prepared and loved the northern Italian cuisine

Italian dishes of the highest quality, excellent Service and very pleasant soft live music. A very pleasant discovery that helped make our holiday special. Kindness and professionalism to sell by all the staff. Honest prices. if I lived in New York it would be a place of the heart!!!! AMAZING!!!!!

We had a very nice meal here. The maitre’d was very attentive. If you love chocolate I highly recommend the Bonet dessert. Homemade pasta was very tasty. Will come again!

An excellent meal in a quiet side street in Soho. The truffle pasta was great as were the starters and desserts

Dinner there on our last night in NYC. Didn’t disappoint. Place was packed but service great and food also. Loved it. Thanks guys!

Ok place - nothing great. Food was just OK and decoration was OK as well. Also the portions are very small for the price we paid...

It is a real Italian place for adult parties recommended for families ITALIAN waiters therefore also recommended for Italians.

This place is a must when you are visiting NYC. The service was great, the pasta was amazing, truffles- I don’t have enough words! I was so glad that I picked this restaurant to go to, instead of the ones my friends recommended lol. I would definitely go back!

Food was good and I don’t have any complaints however I wasn’t ‘wowed’ by it. Service was good. We had lamb shank with saffron risotto (which didn’t really work together), beef tartare ( v nice) seafood pasta and steak ..all just ok.

Espaço acolhedor! Comida fabulosa! E atendimento impecável! Parabéns Domenico! Amazing job! If I had a restaurant I would hire you for sure!!! CONGRATS!!! 🥂🥂🥂

Visiting NYC & had a great dinner at San Carlo Osteria Piemonte with family & friends. Really good food, friendly atmosphere & authentic Italian feel. Will return on my next visit to NYC.

Visited for the 3rd time . Experience was excellent all times. A modest restaurant with great food and service. Have enjoyed all appetizers and main courses so far . The pasta are all excellent. The experience brings me back to being in Italy. Highly recommend to foodies who care more about food and service than decor.

As Italian, I' m pretty picky and suspicious about Italian restaurants abroad. This is not the case when I walked in at San Carlo. I' m from Piedmont and I was intrigued to have a taste of my native food in NY. Everythis was outstanding the food , the wine and the service was so kind and professional too. Thanks for such amazing experience. Don' t miss " Battuta di Fassone"

My sister and our three twenty-something daughters celebrated Saturday night for a 50th birthday. Sincerely this exceeded our expectations. The waiter Lorenzo was so warm and attentive and made great recommendations. This is a tiny spot which was open into the outdoors and we were lucky to sit at the long table just inside the sidewalk The food was beautifully presented and hands down the pasta with shaved black truffles and simple butter sauce is one of the best dishes I have had in any restaurant. The anchovies bruschetta roasts and Charcuterie board were special as well. Prices were quite fair. As our deserts were brought to the table the manager arrived with a fantastic sparkler candle which shot up like a flare it was over the top and so fun. There is a pretty tree just outside with a bench area with pillows . Patient patrons arrived and had a drink waiting for an open table. It’s not fancy it’s memorable and fine food Soho at its best Enjoy 🌸

There's so much courtesy and kindness on the part of the staff and owner .. unique and Italian dishes. To have to try the piadine, really excellent and quality food.. Even an excellent Italian espresso! Recommended

This is a great contemporary Italian restaurant in the city, Atmosphere is nice, menu includes dishes you don't find too often in other Italian restaurants. Pastas are homemade. Service is good. The only negative is tables are too close to one another, it's hard to have any private conversation. It feels like you're chatting with strangers sitting next to you. Loved the rabbit and duck dishes very much.

Fantastic home hand made pasta. Excellent flavoured and textured pastas complimented with great sides and wine, nice atmosphere and very friendly service.

Great, but even more so. If you are in New York for vacation, business or whatever reason, don't miss a dinner at Mirko. I had dinner with my family on 30.12 and then we also spent the next New Year's Eve. Not only did we eat very well, but we enjoyed the company of Mirko and Domenico. The first tried to find us a place for New Year's Eve, despite the fact that the place was already booked, the second kept us company during the two dinners, pampering us and making us feel at home. Prices are also low, when compared to those of the city and if we consider the excellent quality of the ingredients and the culinary ability. In short, a success. If I could give more stars...

Very good service but the food was very European. Small quantities and nothing super tasty (we tried both raviolis with mushrooms and seabass hearing it was super good). It was fine but nothing special. Nice deco. OK prices: $85 for 2 meals, one desert and one appetizer which was super good (tartare)

Decent, not bad. Nothing special. Risotto with gorgonzola and pear had no flavor. Vitello tonato presentation had too much sauce; rolls of vitello don't work as it becomes gummy in your mouth; slices and lighter, less sauce is needed. Horrible lingering fish smell from the kitchen at two points in the evening. Personable staff. New York prices. Don't think I'll return.

My spouse and I had lunch here a couple of weeks back and enjoyed the suckling pig and the complimentary shot of espresso. The service was exceptional. We returned for dinner last evening and enjoyed it very much. We shared the scallop appetizer, which was quite good; the bagna cauda sauce and the tiny cubes of butternut squash really enhanced it. The lasagnetta with lamb ragu was wonderful. The spinach pasta sheets were light and tasty, and the ground lamb and cheese made it especially delicious. Service was great. The room is somewhat cramped but very pleasant and well-appointed. The high ratings on this site are accurate. We will definitely return next time we are in the Soho area.

You want real, authentic Italian cuisine? Look no further that San Carlo. Excellent quality. You won't be disappointed no matter what you order. What I particularly love is that they usually have a truffle menu. And when white truffle season is in, they have a special menu for that as well. Excellent service and delicious food will keep you going back for more!

Lovely setting, very pleasant staff and the food was just exquisite. Thank you for the experience, we will definitely return sometime soon…

This restaurant used to be decent but leaves a lot to be desired now. Prices have gone up and the experience isn't the same: the food and service is wildy inconsistent. The mains were overcooked this time around, and worse, the service was neglectful and rude. This is NYC and, for this price, you can do much better.

Amazing spot in the middle of Soho. Food is delicious, drinks are legit. Authentic italian style. Moreno (the owner) is very friendly and funny. Good vibes only!

Had dinner and lunch here. Excellent Piedmontese cuisine, excellent taierin and veal with tuna sauce. Simple but efficient and professional service. Small, intimate and pleasant place Excellent Piedmontese wines I recommend it dispassionately Good boy

Really looking for basic, delicious home-cooked Italian to avoid Mario B.'s establishments that were decent (often delicious) and reasonably priced. This was over-priced and, frankly, not of the qualityI expected. The pesto was overwhelming my palate so that one more bite was going to be too much. Shame because I love the location.

Very good first courses. Attentive and punctual Service. Owners - especially Mauro - extremely friendly and considerate (they provided us with valuable guidance to enjoy a day at the US Open). We will return again. We would definitely recommend.

Lovely dinner. The best part of the meal was the dessert which was amazing. My sea bass could have done with a sauce but other than that I can’t fault the food. My son’s ravioli was delicious.

Honestly incredibly disappointed. I'm a regular at many Italian restaurants in the city and came back here to give it a second shot after a initial disappointing visit. Wine was exorbitantly over priced and horribly mediocre, small portions in everything, service is standard, not a budget place.

Outstanding service and food. I had the sautéed cod with tomato sauce, capers and black olives. The best I’ve ever had. The tiramisu was exceptional as well

What more can I say besides Excellent!. Starting from our welcome from the owner Moreno to the dessert and macchiato every part of our meal was sumptuous and intentionally prepared to represent the season and the region. When we dined there were special truffle menu items truffles being in season. The Branzino was cooked to perfection, the rosemary potatoes were so cozy. We will be back

We only head to NYC once or twice a year and do some research between TripAdvisor and some other sights to find good eating spots. Unfortunately this wasn’t a wonderful experience. Nothing really memorable about the meal. My family had some pasta dishes that were on. I had duck breast. If was rather dry (I think a bit overdone), without any sauce or anything. My so had a rolled chicken dish that didn’t look too appetizing. He didn’t complain but never does. We had 2 sides, the truffle fries and roasted vegetables. Roasted vegetable weren’t too bad but neither was that substantial. Fries were crispy but pretty standard, again nothing special. Liquor portions for $16-17 cocktails were small and not at all boozy. We opted not to throw any more money here and get dessert elsewhere. It also had a quaint ambiance but was a bit hot inside the restaurant. What I don’t get is the number of high reviews. Maybe this place was better in the past but I wouldn’t give it beyond a 5/10, and I leave a lot of reviews here over the years.

We found this restaurant by chance on the internet, attracted by the great reviews, and went to dinner: a beautiful surprise! We met one of the owners, Mauro, very kind, who explained with passion the dishes and their preparation. We were really pleased: great food and nice environment. The price is a bit high, but in line with New York where everything is quite expensive, and the quality justifies it. We returned twice more for lunch, when the atmosphere was quieter, and we had a great time there too. We also met the other owner, Domenico, and a very kind Calabrian waiter (unfortunately we did not ask him his name), as well as all the staff, including the South American boys, always friendly and helpful. Room neat, clean and with great kitchen. Absolutely recommended! In the photos: artichoke salad, fassona tartare and tuna veal. Morena and Carlo.

This is an authentic Northern Italian experience from the manager to the wine list. The food was extraordinary. The indoor space is a bit more close contact than I would prefer even before the past 2 years. This is the Village I guess. Our food, drink and dessert was all perfect. We would gladly return.

This place was top notch!! We have eaten all over the world and own an Italian restaurant in D.C., so we are a good judge of Italian food and this was all around amazing! The staff made you feel so welcomed, very family oriented place! The white truffle menu was hair raising good! Everything they make here is authentic, delicious, and a culinary delight! We couldn’t have been more thrilled with our dining experience and the sweet people we met here!

Great Food, Wine List & very friendly & competent Service, a little Gem in the middle of Soho. I have been there in many occasions and every time they have exceeded my expectations. Bravi 👏👏👏

This is the best Italian restaurant I have ever tried in New York!! Great food, great people and great atmosphere! Really a small piece of Italy in New York.

The coat check guy at our hotel recommended this restaurant which is a quick 5-10 minute walk from the hotel. I had a list of restaurants to try, but he assured me my list was garbage and Osteria San Carlo was the way to go. We trusted him. And I am SO GLAD we did! We were in NY only for 3 nights and we at at this establishment for 2 of them! It is a hidden gem...a neighborhood favorite that I am sure they wish only they knew about. The seating is tight; it is a small interior, but the energy is abounding and the staff is professional, knowledgable, welcoming, and friendly. The meatball appetizer are some of the best meatballs I have ever had; the flavor is just perfectly balanced. My husband had the squid ink pasta both nights we ate there because it was that good. I had the Lobster pasta both nights we ate there because it was that good. We even tried to recreate it when we returned home...no where near as good as San Carlo's, so we will definitely be back for theirs! Tiramisu was good, fresh, homemade. Great portions, quality food, service, and wine. I love that is not a touristy spot and they make you feel like you are just a eating an amazing dinner at your neighbor's house.

Simply : Wonderful, italian kitchen in NYC like we have in Claviere, Sestrieres or Oulx - Piemont Region, Services pico bello, bella taverna y restaurante... we will come back for our next time in NYC

Domenico for the win! And food was super tasty as well, and they could accomodate gluten free options. Loved the sides/appetizers.

Stopped in for late dinner last night. The food is delicious - scallops, brussel sprouts, beef cheeks, and ravioli were all stellar. I noticed that the seasoning of the food was perfect, not heavy with salt - my rings all fit this morning. I will be back, the menu was full of difficult decisions!

Forse meglio che a Torino..... Excellent Vitel tuna..... and better the agnolotti.... the sauce was really that of the roast..... or otherwise was identical. Careful and smudge-free service. When we return to New York we will definitely return.

What an amazing place. The service was spectacular from the second we walked in until we left. The food was incredible. I will definitely be going back next time I visit NYC.

This was exactly what we were looking for, small local spot that focuses on quality. Everything from the atmosphere to the service was excellent. The anchovies bread appetizer stole the show. Both pasta dishes were fantastic.

I spend an excellent evening great food an service, fresh product and superb presentations, if you are looking for an original Italian food that the best place in New York. 😋😋😋😋😋

Super nice place for lunch or dinner. Good atmosphere, friendly staff, great food and very professional and satisfactory response with personal apology by the owner after a mistake had been made in the kitchen with my main course.

The owner Moreno is really nice and the hospitality is really Piedmontese ... good wines ... why not...

We came back after having already been there in 2018! A guarantee! Elegant but super cozy environment! Top staff, in particular we were followed by Domenico, who advised us very well and pampered throughout lunch! Highly recommended for those who want to try real Italian cuisine in NY!!

perfect Italian Restaurant!!! good food, real Italian food, very professional people! we will come back! Thanks to Mauro and all the staff it was a wonderful evening

Delicious, especially the seafood. Service was competent and attentive. Liked the live music too. I was in a party of six

Something wonderful about this restaurant. It gives us a good warm feeling. Service is impeccable- charming Italian waiter, knowledgeable and helpful. Good menu selection and fine pasta, especially the evenings special of pasta with sea urchins and clams. Now for the bad part. The fried oysters were dry and over cooked and the Cornish Hen was absolutely awful. They took it off the check without being asked to do so. Hopefully this post will be constructive because the place has a great vibe.

What do you do when there are so many great restaurants and so little time to experience them all? Solution-- lunch specials! Having consulted Ziggy's recommendations and knowing he visited the Piedmont region of Italy, we opted to try the 2 course lunch special and were very happy. The salads were a good start, and we both opted for the home made pastas. To finish we shared a tiramisu which was served in a coffee cup and "good to the last drop" like the old Maxwell House coffee ads used to say.

I love this place! The food is delectable, service top-notch, and ambience is the warmest and most inviting of all. I always bring visitors from out of town HERE. San Carlo Osteria Piemonte never disappoints!

The selection of plates is northern Italian and absolutely delicious. We had a pot au feu, pardon my french, which was a special PIEDMONTESE dish of tender boiled meats in brodo. There were six of us at a comfortable table filled with a variety of delicious appetizers butternut croquettes, Beef tartar, and Mediterranean anchovies, all very special with wines to match. Take a look at the menu, personally I am really looking forward to going back for Wild boar and/or piedmontese duck dish. Thanks to the chef for allis attention...all at a fair price.

First drinks. Ordered dirty vodka martini with blue cheese olives and cosmo, placed an order for the appetizer. Martini consisted of vodka and vermouth with basic olives (the waiter didn't even ask if its ok that they out of olives, just brought whatever they had) cosmo - vodka and lime juice. As we sent cocktails back waiter asked if we would like to order appetizer (??!). I guess our order wasn't even placed at that point. Fine. It finally came. Main course was duck roulette and lazagnetta. They were just mediocre, duck porchetta tasted like it was pre-made the day before. After getting a check where the waiter forgot to charge us for the wine and we had to wait yet again for check adjustment, my partner went to use the only bathroom they had just to discover that the handle is broken, he couldn't even open the door because the handle was rotating. Seriously. Leaving this here after reading glorious reviews. Not sure how this restaurant got a Michelin star.

Italian restaurant where you can taste real Italian cuisine. Very good dishes and prepared staff, attentive and courteous. A real and very pleasant discovery in New York. Highly recommended!

If you are in NY and you miss good food this is the place!! Thanks to Moreno for the kindness and special attention!

We went to osteria san carlo with friends. the food was very good, escalop, octopus, pasta, everything was great. I liked the place, nice women portraits on the wall and the decoration.

Great Italian food & excellent service - just a wonderful experience! They accept reservations too. A++++++

We have had dinner. The food was delicious. Ther was nice atmosphere. Very friendly towards children. They proposed something that was not on the menu for my 8 year old son. Thanks a lot.

Enjoyed a tasty lunch here. Served by the magnificent Domenico. Would highly recommend. Service was on point and flavours were delicious

We went on a rainy Sunday and had an amazing experience. Our server, Dilek, was extraordinary, very helpful with the menu and very attentive. I would definitely recommend San Carlo. It was our first visit and it will definitely be on our list whenever we are back in the City.

San Carlo Osteria Piemonte is a fantastic Italian spot. The food is absolutely delicious – everything tastes fresh and authentic. Domenico, one of the staff, really took great care of us, making the service exceptional. The ambience is wonderful, with a cozy and inviting atmosphere that's perfect for a nice dinner out. It's a great experience overall, from the food to the service to the setting. Definitely a must-visit.

We had an amazing lunchmenu for 15 dollar, what is very cheap in Soho! Luxe restaurant, very nice food and people! So Many choices in this lunch menu, fantastic!!

Charm and fine taste, in San Carlo restaurant you can feel in Italy and eat great with the advises of Moreno :)

Just tried brunch menu . Not outstanding , however ,Brunch can’t reflect the real quality sometimes. Additionally I noticed some Italian guests were there for lunch .It should mean something though

Beat service ever!! Wonderful Italian & wonderful atmosphere! Lovely atmosphere and just an amazing experience!!!!

Didn’t realise it was so well rated but can understand why. We happened to pass and decided to visit. Perfect lunchtime stop off, great food as you would expect from a genuine Italian restaurant: starter and a main for $12. Doesn’t get better than that in SoHo.

Walking around in the City, it began to rain. Seeking refuge, we stumbled upon San Carlo. This random situation turned out to be one of our finest meals in the City! The staff were fantastic. Ruben and Leonardo displayed exquisite knowledge of the menu, and they delivered high end service. My wife and I enjoyed the grilled octopus appetizer. The wine and cocktails started flowing, so we split two of the recommended entrees: agnolotti and the wild boar pasta. I had black truffle shaved over the agnolotti and that was off the charts good. Everything was homemade, including the panna cotta. Simply delicious meal, and an overall wonderful experience. We try to go to new places when we travel to NYC, but this restaurant will get a repeat visit (or more).

We were taken to this gem of a restaurant by some friends. The food was very delicious authentic Italian cuisine The service was spot on friendly and efficient. I highly recommend this eatery.

San Carlo has some of New York’s best Italian food and the service is notably efficient. This restaurant knows good nightlife on top of it all.

Excellent Italian food. Good selection of food. Italian staff. Attentive service. Thanks to Roberto. The restaurant is a bit away from the hustle and bustle and therefore the few outdoor places are recommended.

I visited this restaurant more than 5 times. I travel a lot for work and I am Italian. Italians dislike the Italian restaurants abroad because are expensive and propose a old style cuisine. The taste of San Carlo, the style of San Carlo, speaks Italian, but the new and modern Italian of 2020. I tried the Italian ham and cheese selection, delicious; the “pappa al pomodoro” (kind of tomato soup), traditional and intriguing; the grilled octopus with cream beans and artichokes, I'm still dreaming them, and a selection/tastings of bunet and tiramisu. The menu and the food of San Carlo is what the Italian restaurants offer now in Italy, I dare say, even better interpreted. The wine list is definitely at the level of this restaurant. Good! How I can not to come back again? See u soon.

It can be daunting to find a great restaurant in New York City - not because they are too few, but because there are so many of them, and trendy places tend to be very costly, and hard to get into on short notice. I tend to look for places which are consistent, with 100s of reviews. Because we were not far from the WTC in NYC, we walked up to Soho and found San Carlo Piemonte. Because it was failry warm outside, we sat close to the large opened window area, which also made for some cool people watching. Small yet not cramped, San Carlo has a nice selection of Northern Italian dishes. When I found myself not liking the wines by the glass selection, I mentioned same to the server, and we had a brief chat about what types of wines I like. He informed me they had a great Itallian Borolo which was not on the list but the bottles were sometimes uneven - that if it was a good one I would love it, and if not, I would not have to pay! Such a deal, I said, and I got to enjoy a great wine at a fairly affordable price, liking it so much I got two glasses. For dinner, I had the hand-cut Piedmont beef tartare and crispy parmesan bread, which was a great take on the French variety of the dish to which people may be more accustomed. It was excellent, but not too large a portion to spoil dinner. For my main course I tried the oven roasted cod w/spinach and sautéed shallots; perfectly cooked and delicious. While the meal was a little pricey with all my the wine (grin), it was well worth it.

At the tavern San Carlo you can find the atmosphere and flavors of piedmont in new york. from raw meat to tajarin with truffle, to tiramisu, with an excellent selection of wines, each dish takes you back to an Italian region with a great food and wine culture

A small restaurant with a lots of love. We felt taken care of from the moment we stepped in until we left. Very nice staff and great food.

The food is authentic and of the highest quality. Service is attentive and the experience is intimate but first rate.

This restaurant is amazing. I cannot say enough. I love the staff, they are super friendly and the atmosphere is warm and cozy. I have eaten here for date nights, with our kids and for many other occasions. I would highly recommended San Carlo as one of the top Italian restaurants in the city. We try to go at least every other week and I look forward to it every time!

This is an italian restaurant in Soho NYC. It isn’t big, but is cozy. The food is very good, but the plates are small. Very good wine menu from Italy.

Very nice italian cuisine in Soho and not even that expensive. The wine is good too. Highly recommend it !

How was my experience? For what is supposed to be a top restaurant in NYC according to TripAdvisor..we were underwhelmed to say the least. The food became cold after 1 minute. The polenta was hard as rock. The steak was over cooked. The ratatouille was a joke. Massively sliced zucchini with tomato sauce. Please. We are not stupid. Make an effort to EARN your popularity on TripAdvisor. The only good part was the wine. Fantastic Ruchè - a unique variety from Piedmont. Good luck. You will need it.

We just walked in and were seated immediately although we did not have a reservation... it’s a little place so it gets busy pretty quickly... The Italian inspired food was absolutely beautiful! The service very good and friendly.

My husband and I were here to celebrate my birthday. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, everything was extraordinary. The service was attentive, warm, helpful and lovely, and Domenico, our server, was the best! We had the insalata San Carlo to start; I then had the delicious red snapper and my husband had the salmon. The pistachio gelato for dessert was wonderful. Their prosecco was great too. We sat outside on a lovely summer evening, and it was more quiet than inside. I highly recommend this fabulous restaurant.

Authentic Italian ( Piemontese ) in NYC . Not our first visit.. definitely not out last .. we’re visiting from Europe , thoroughly enjoyed it.

A bit around the corner from the masses, this little restaurant is a great place of authentic food and wine from Italy. Excellent pasta in particular.

What a lovey (quiet) place in which to enjoy an Italian meal. Great cosmo, great food, great (Italian) clientele. Had the branzino (sea bass) but be forewarned if you need a lot of food--skimpy on the fish. Perfect for me. It was like going to Italy without having to cross the Atlantic!

Had a really good wild boar pasta paired with a tasty Nebbiolo d'Alba that we were recommended. For dessert we had gelato that was also super tasty. Service was super.

We had reservations for 5 on a Saturday night in December. When we arrived our table wasn't ready and the bar was full so we had no where else to go. The hostess suggested a lounge down the street where we could go for a drink as we still had 15-20 minutes to wait. We did that and when we returned our table was still not ready. We went to the bar and they bought us a bottle of Prosecco for our troubles. This was the only glitch we had. Our meal was fantastic as is the wine list. The pasta was homemade and dining here was almost like dining in your house for a large family gathering. Mirko, our server was very good also. We would return to San Carlo in a heartbeat!

We 4 NYC residents walked in on a Saturday night without a reservation. The maitre D told us they had a table. We sat down at 7:50 pm. The food was good not great but was rushed out within minutes of ordering. We did not have time to order a bottle of wine in time for our main course. at around 8:45 the waiters started pulling plates from our table even though we were not finished. He attempted this twice despite our protest. Then we asked for the Maitre D who told us that he had a 9 pm reservation. We told him he should have told us before seating us. He superficially apologized but continued to pressure us to leave. We would not have sat down had we known. This clearly was false advertising.

New York is not an easy city to find a good, cosy, close to home restaurant. San Carlo is a fine restaurant with fantastic cook, great flavours and gentle staff. Recommend it to anyone who's like me trying to find European meals taste in New York. Thank you Dan Carlo

We had a delicious 2-courses lunch at San Carlo Osteria Pimonte. Great service, good wines.Thank you!

Looking for a good Italian food and friendly hospitality? This is the place where to stay. Incredible service, high quality of food, ambient where you fill like an Italian Osteria, I mean if you are in NYC do not miss this place. Many thanks to Domenico and Mauro for the friendly and professional service, thanks to Chef Davide for the quality an variety of food. Every time I'm in town, is surely my favourite food destination.

We had an excellent dinner here. Arrived after a long day of city hiking and museum visiting. Welcome at the door was very warm. We were seated immediately. Our server was very solicitous. We had a lovely pasta dish and really nice melt-in-mouth branzino. Really lovely dessert at the end of the meal. Our glasses of wine were just right. A really enjoyable evening.

Was there earlier this month and had a perfect experience. Food and service 5 star . Room itself is simple but works well . Food was the best Italian we have had in the city and we eat a lot of Italian food. Had the beef tartar which highlighted the excellent quality of the beef . Had trouble deciding on the pasta course and finally picked one . The waiter very kindly brought us a small helping of the one we did not choose. Should not have wasted my time deciding, both were excellent. Also highly recommend the short rib and polenta.

Really enjoyed our visit to San Carlo on Thompson St. I was shocked to learn that it has been there for so long and I had never even heard of it. The staff is very friendly and the head chef is indeed from Italy. All of our meals were delicious but I especially enjoyed my tajarin pasta with truffles. For dessert I tried the Bönet which is a sort of budino - it was sublime! I’ve recommended this restaurant several times to friends visiting NYC and always received praise in return. If you want seek authentic northern Italian fare - especially with truffle - this is the place for you.

Real Italian cuisine in New York! The chef has a fantastic hand and really excellent dishes. The staff was always very attentive, friendly and welcoming. Best restaurant in Nyc!! TRUE ITALIAN CUISINE!!

Found this place whilst browsing at shops in the area on our last day and all the reviews were excellent. We stopped for lunch and they were doing their $15 2 course lunch which was excellent value and the best meal in New York so no wonder it’s 15th out of 11k restaurants in NY. I had the buffalo mozzarella and aubergine starter which was delicious and the biggest piece of proper buffalo mozzarella I’ve ever seen. We both had the bolonaise ragu which was amazing. The restaurant isn’t huge so I’d book for dinner, classy Italian family run restaurant, nice decor and excellent service. Couldn’t recommend highly enough, definitely worth going out of your way to find.

Quaint restaurant that checked all the boxes. Definitely would return again. Was very pleased with the duck entree.

After arriving Friday night in NYC, we decided to have a nice dinner. We looked online and decided on San Carlo. Good thing it was a bit late so we were able to make a reservation. Dinner was delicious! Loved the Parmesan risotto with truffles.

We visited during the week and had a great 2 course lunch (good price!), wonderful food and very friendly service. The after lunch hot chocolate was the icing on the cake. We’ll certainly come back next time we’re in NY!
Great northern Italian
This place is excellent. The people the food and the ambiance in a SOHO setting is hard to beat. Go with the white truffle menu and the braised beef cheeks. Try a great Italian red.
