Love it; food, staff, and ambience!!!

By Erik F |

For an in hotel restaurant experience, one typically doesn't hold out much in expectation but this place was wonderful. I loved the food. The waiter and staff were on point. The ambience for me was quite, very comfortable, and nice enough to feel an overall excellent dining experience.

The best Italian food in Soho

By jadakis |

I went there with my husband for his birthday. The food was delicious. But the service was impeccable. I will definitely go back and recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet intimate dinner. The owner is so nice. He gave us some homemade Sambuca after dinner. It was amazing. I don't even like Sambuca, but I loved it. If you are in NYC, try this hidden gem in Soho. I'm sure you will feel the same way.

Food like they have in Italy

By H&M |

I visit Milan very often for work and love Italian food. San Marino compares with the best restaurants in Milan - I had a baked sea bass, very simple, just a few herbs and a wonderfully fresh Mediterranean fish They really know how to do simple classy. The service was excellent, I got great recommendations and the house Chianti was wonderful value. I was looking for a quick meal before getting down to work again, and this just made my day!

Nice Breakfast

By WINEandTRAVEL |

Small little restaurant attached to the Aloft Hotel... reminds me a bit of the hotel restaurants in Europe. Ambiance homey and a bit worn but I still like it. The food was good. I'm betting that the pastas here are very good... convenient if you're in the hotel and need a bite, but certainly there are a lot of other options close by.

A hidden gem in SoHo

By Denisa V |

After a day of shopping in SoHo my sister and I stumbled upon this restaurant and the elegant outside decor and seating drew us in. I speak for the both of us when I say this place was a great find. I ordered the farfalle fon falmone and it was so impeccable that I could not help but also order the creme brulee for dessert. In addition, the staff was very friendly. Thank you! I will be returning soon.

WHAT A TREAT AND PLEASANT SURPRISE

By Ed R |

This restaurant is in the Four Points Sheraton, an awful hotel. The food was excellent and the room nice and cosy. Everyone in our party had a different entree and all were pleased with the food. The Marinara Sauce was excellent. Where they need to complete the package is by having a trained wait staff who continually in their haste spill water on the table when refilling water glasses. They have the best tasting spaghetti sauce I have tasted in my Worldwide travels and with a very pleasant surprise. But they need to change their bread provider as it was old and dry.

Great Discovery!

By Edoardo Maria B |

Situated in the heart of Manhattan, this restaurant offers a great opportunity to taste typical dishes of Italian cuisine. My dinner was composed by an excellent entree of grilled calamari on a bed of greens followed by a delicate and tasty "Vermont veal Tagliata with capers and potatoes, accompanied by a glass of Chianti. The homemade tiramisu is absolutely one of the best I have ever tasted. The owner was always around checking that customers were well served and satisfied and exchanging some friendly chat with them. Eventually he offered me also an excellent digestive. I think I will return in this restaurant.

Corporate Client Luncheon

By EdwardTiano |

The restaurant is very inviting, great skylight over dinning room, nice atmosphere, service from the staff was friendly, and fast. Great Italian menu, I started with the clams oreganat and my guest the Cesar salad, both great starters, good Italian bread, and olives came complementary. We both ordered the chicken parmigia with pasta. It was wonderful, good size portion, we both ate it all. The house wines were outstanding and moderately priced. Would highly recommend. I will be back soon.

Great spot prior to City Winery event..

By VirginiaCW |

This small bar is in the lobby of the Sheraton close to the Holland Tunnel entrance.. the adjoining restaurant is on the backside of the lobby behind the elevators. The bar seats about 8 people. San Marino is actually not part of the Sheraton hotel but is situated in it on Varick just at the corner of Vandam, only one block away from City Winery.. so if you're going to an event at City Winery, and, if like us you think City Winery has become a little dear in its prices, go to San Marino and have a couple of drinks and have some appetizers from the dining room menu (which you can have served to you at the bar, if you want more than the light bites bar menu) and get yourself ready for some good music at a reasonable price. This is the second time our group has gone to this place before or after City Winery events..and we find it to be a great location and a wonderful place and lovely people who work there so we'll continue to go back as we go to City Winery shows

Good Food and Service

By BigBruno |

I had two dinners in here on a rainy weekend because I didn't feel like going out in the weather. I prefer Italian restaurants so this worked well for me. I wouldn't have come back the second night but was impressed enough to keep me at the hotel for a second meal.

An Italian gem in Soho, NY

By Henry F |

San Marino is a real find - a very high quality neighborhood Italian restaurant in the Soho district of lower Manhattan. The quality of food is excellent, service veery professional, and a nice quiet, spacious ambience (once you get in past the small bar at the entrance), with particularly comfortable chairs. The tortollini in brodo was filled with more tortellini than one usually finds, but the star was the richly flavored chicken broth - way better than the standard one usually finds. The Fettucini with shrimp was in a rich and complex tomato sauce - again well beyond the standard - with fresh basil and large, flavorful shrimp. A glass of the house chianti was also excellent. And that entire meal was $40 - wine included - a more than fair price. This is a real find.

The best baby shower event

By IVONA S |

This past Sunday I had my baby shower at the San Marino NYC. It was the most amazing experience. The food was excellent! Sami- the restaurant owner proposed us a menu for the event. We had family style appetizers such as calamari, artichokes and mushrooms, feta and tomatoes, meatballs.. then for main entrees we had chicken, steak and whole fish branzino..Deserts were delicious especially the homemade Italian cheesecake. My guests truly enjoyed everything. Service: Arbi- the restaurant manager and Dejan- our server provided a 5 star service. I highly recommend SanMarino for any occasions. Great food and great service! Thank you for making my baby shower a memorable event. Ivona

Best Chicken Dish

By Arsengura |

Since I first had the Chicken Mt. Etna dish, everywhere restaurant I go to in NYC I ask if they have a similar dish, but so far no one has it. It's a real unique rich flavored dish that everyone has to try and you will get hooked on. On top of the great food, the staff is very professional and always there when you need something.

Forget what you think you know about hotel restaurants

By Mark37Chicago |

Very nice Italian place inside the Four Points by Sheraton hotel in Soho. The food was excellent and everyone was very professional. Fairly normal prices for NYC - easily spent $40 for one person. I was there Monday night on business - too tired after traveling to go elsewhere and thought it was a nice find. The hotel itself is a different story, but that is a different review.

Surprisingly excellent hotel restaurant

By Barry H |

This place is actually very good for a hotel. I have not had any of their signature Italian dishes but can say that the pizza is amazing as well as the burger. generous portions and very fast room service if you are staying on the property.

Perfect Wedding Rehearsal Dinner and Post Wedding Brunch

By Renee S |

Needed a restaurant that could comfortably accommodate 15 people for my son’s rehearsal dinner AND had great food reviews . This was perfect! The food was delicious and the service was very attentive. We had our own quiet little room so we could speak without shouting. We also hosted a private breakfast buffet for 30 friends and family the morning after the wedding. The buffet had a nice array of breakfast food and everyone left with a full belly. I wouldn’t hesitate to return the next time I’m in NYC.

Fabulous!

By Nina N |

The service was beautiful and the food was amazing. I tested everyone's entree, between 4 of us we had 2 kinds of pasta; one with pesto sauce, one with lemon sauce and salmon. We also tried branzini and red snapper; that was delicious. We were treated with respect but not in an over bearing way. The staff were obliging and charming and interested in serving us and making our visit memorable - they achieved that. We would not hesitate to recommend this establishment to people who appreciate fine dining and want to enjoy that 'special' nice out. We certainly would return

Good Food, Lacking Service....

By Kate H |

We were a large group of 12 who visited on a Wednesday evening. We had reservations, so they were expecting us. The table they had ready for us was beautiful and the restaurant was easy to find. The food was good, unfortunately, that's where the praise ends. The service was very bad! We waited for almost 30 minutes before we even received menus. Getting drinks ordered was a challenge as well. Often times we found ourselves waiting and looking for someone and the restaurant was not busy. It took an extremely long time to receive our food (apps & entrees). I understand we were a large group, but it was an exceptionally long wait. I also believe that by the end of the evening, our waiter was intoxicated.

Amazing food

By alban z |

The atmosphere and the treatment by all the staff is amazing. Loved the Italian traditional food that they serve. I have to say it's one of my favorite restaurants in New York.

Very good restaurant

By Devin V |

What a find! I was at the business meeting on Hudson street and ask for a suggestion to have Italian nearby . I would have never thought to walk into this place located at Four Points Soho hotel! But it was awesome. Great feel ambiance, awesome service, fantastic food. Linguine with Calamari was delicious, Tiramisu was fresh home made fantastic ! Would definitely recommend

Gem of a Place...

By CEC1024 |

While staying at Trump SOHO, we ventured two blocks north to this little gem. It's entrance is a little unusual as it's through a hotel (Four Points Sheraton) entrance and a tiny bar area, but once inside, it's very comfortable and roomy. We sat in a huge semi-circular booth (just the 2 of us) and were immediately presented with delicious bread, cheese and olives. Nice wine list with reasonably priced selections-we had a pinot grigio. We shared a shrimp appetizer with cannellini beans and a light lemony sauce-different and delicious. We enjoyed the pappardelle pasta with a goat cheese mushroom sauce and veal ravioli with morel cream sauce. No room for dessert... The service was friendly, attentive and efficient. Overall, very reasonable prices for delicious, fresh food. Definitely, give it a try. Also, a nice private room for parties on site.

Hidden gem in Manhattan's Soho district

By TheaNYC |

Hidden away in Soho's Four Points Sheraton hotel is San Marino restaurant and bar. Great food, great ambiance, fantastic service, fun patrons. All you have to do is take a right from Varick Street on Charlton, it's just before Spring Street's continuation into Van Dam, on the way to Holland Tunnel. Don't miss out! Thea

Nice Surprise

By Marie F |

Visited this restaurant on a whim because we couldn't get seated at the restaurant of choice. We quickly made a reservation through the Same eated app and what a great surprise for a hotel restaurant! The menu was extensive and had a number of vegetarian options. When I made the reservation,I erroneously made it for 6 people when we really had 9. The staff quickly made the adjustment and accommodated us. Would definitely recommend if you are in Soho.

Perfect wedding weekend

By M C |

Everything! Great food, service, location. Sami and Uma could not have been more helpful. It was the perfect location for our post wedding brunch and gave us a great space in which to bid our guests farewell.

Authentic Italian Food

By lindavat |

I encountered this restaurant with my family and it turned out to be one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever visited! They serve authentic Italian cuisine. I ordered the Ravioli Della Nonna, it was amazing and cooked perfectly. In addition to delicious food , this restaurant has great service, the staff was so nice and friendly. I highly recommend - I will be definitely returning to this restaurant again in the future!

Wasn't expecting much but very nicely surprised!

By Carla O |

As the restaurant is connected to the Four Points Sheraton in Soho, I was expecting meh food. The restaurant is third party operated and as such we were very pleasantly surprised. Solidly crafted, delicious Italian cuisine just shy of excellent. Incredible service and a beautiful dining room. Very Pleasantly surprised!!!!

Great value, really good tasting food

By EVSAO |

Surprising but good. Would happily choose to eat here over other similar restaurants. Serves Italian wood fired pizzas and a select assortment of Italian favourites,

All Around Excellent

By jane |

Located inside the Sheraton Four Points Hotel, this hidden away gem of a restaurant combines exceptional food with impeccable service for an extraordinary dining experience. Frutti de Mare and Spaghetti Arribiata were both delicious, as were the baked clams for appetizer. Bread basket and complimentary olives and fried zucchini were fantastic, as was the homemade Sambuca and dessert. Yes, it was a little pricey, but definitely worth every cent. Conveniently located around the block from City Winery, we will definitely return here again.

Unexpected Total; Treat!

By dcolins |

I found this restaurant unexpectedly as a friend was staying at the adjacent hotel. I had no high hopes really but as the minutes passed I became more and more impressed. Heavy table linen and beautifully laid table settings set the scene; the attentive, pleasant and humorous staff enhance things further. That's before the food ariives! The bread selection is amazing, an olive focaccia that is almost more olive than focaccia, beautiful sourdough etc, is accompanied by a dish of plump succulent olives and a selection of olive oils (the chilli one is particularly thrilling). The soups are delicious, the pasta perfectly cooked and the octopus very tender and superb. I have tried two of the chicken dishes (Saltimbocca and Chicken Etna), both truly delicious. The Saltimbocca is not what Italiand would recognise as that dish but is nevertheless excellen, extremely tasty (and generous). I have tried several old-school "red sauce" Italian restaurants in New York that have proved to be disastrous, so this place is a real find. I have been to New York 4 times this year and on every occasion since discovering it in February, dining here has been one of the highglights of my visit. There is a rather interesting large mural, wine is kept in temperature-controlled compartments, the food is excellent, the staff are charming and you get a free Sambucca at the end of the meal, what's not to like?! Thoroughly recommended.

Great find near City Winery

By Era101 |

Happened upon this restaurant when looking for a place to eat before a concert at City Winery. It is a small restaurant attached to a hotel. It probably offers brunch and breakfast to the residents of the hotel. We went for dinner. The service was outstanding. Everyone in the restaurant was there to watch out for you. The bartender came over to make sure she made a cocktail correctly....the person drinking said it needed to be "up" without ice. She went back to the bar and brought back two delicious cocktails made to order. We were a party of four and we shared a pasta dish which the waiter split for us. We ordered a veal dish and a chicken dish and both were excellent. My husband raved about his branzino which was served whole with head on but most of the bones were removed. Served nicely. The wine ordered was also good. I definitely will return here and suggest to friends.

Birthday Dinner

By Melissa F |

Had my 30th birthday dinner here and everything came out great! They provided excellent service especially considering it was a group. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. There was never a second that went by when someone’s water glass was less than half full- they constantly came around to refill water which is sometimes a struggle in other restaurants . Excellent service, atmosphere and food. Can’t wait to go back!

Really Good Hotel Restaurant

By AZBob54 |

Ate their food via room service and had the best tasting burger we had on this trip to NYC. We had pizzas, pasta, desserts and all were really good. The breakfast was OK nothing special but it arrived fast and that's what you want.

Middle quality of Italian

By Mathieu M |

The reataurant itself is quite average. The dining room needs to be tied up. The food is OK. We got shrimp raviolis which were actually quite good. We also got a supposed Italian pizza, which was really bad. Don't go there for a pizza but the rest is just OK, not marvellous.

Terrible food booth at USOpen

By Smel N. Goot |

Tried their pizza at US Open tennis location. Terrible. Dried out sauce e( very little that there was), undercooked cheese. Waste of money

Exquisite food, excellent staff

By HM |

So many places to consider in NYC - San Marino deserves your consideration. The sea bass (special of the day) was perfect and the homemade pasta with mushrooms was a delight. A small wine list with reasonable price points. The homemade sambuca was smooth and flavorful vs harsh and overpowering. We highly recommend

College visiting week. Last night celebrating.

By Douglas P |

outstanding service with personal attention from the proprietor. i ordered the Sea Bass and spinach which was a special. (my heart said Fruitti de Mare) The entree was spectacular without any doubt. The pavilion added the the ambiance. Spouse and the two seventeen year olds loved the stylings. Try it!

The best Italian food ever.

By jadakis |

I went there with my husband, he loved the steak. Everything is made fresh. And the Tiramisu is to die for.

Great time, wonderful food, welcoming atmosphere

By Fiona L |

We had a wonderful meal made even more enjoyable by the warm friendly service that made us feel right at home. My shrimp with white wine and lemon was delicious. The only negative is that the restaurant shares rest rooms with the hotel next door. The owner was very friendly and attentive I would certainly go back if I was in the area.

Really terrific restaurant

By salbert236 |

My wife and I went to San Marino with another couple on a Friday night. It was our first visit and we were all extremely happy. The restaurant is in SOHO and was surprisingly quiet and uncrowded. All the staff, including the owner, were friendly, gracious, and attentive. Most important, the food was delicious. While it's a bit out of the way, San Marino is a "Must Go" place.

Outstanding Italian

By Sevenodds |

We enjoyed drinks and dinner there many times during our two week stay at the hotel. The restaurant greatly exceeded our expectations every time. The exceptional service was the difference. Jasmine and Mario were truly memorable. Chef was able to accommodate my vegan wife with delicious options.

Excellent Italian restaurant in Soho

By dcolins |

This seems to be a fairly undiscovered gem. The quality of service and food should mean it would be full every night. Since finding it 18 months ago I have been several times (whenever I am in NYC at least once).Their bread is superb and they offer a choice of olive oils, plain (rich, green and delicious), fresh herbs or chilli, all excellent. The staff are friendly and extremely efficient and professional.

Awesome food, service was superb

By FloNYC |

Pasta choices are fantastic. Veal chop was thick and quite flavorful! Highly recommend it for Family/Couples, Birthday parties and any other special occasions.

Disappointed!

By Joseph D |

Been meaning to try San Marino since I had read many good reviews. Went on Thursday, February 4th. It was a BIG MISTAKE. After looking over the menu, I decided to order Pollo Mt. Etna. The description of the dish read "Morsels of chicken and sweet Italian sausage prepared with cherry peppers, bell peppers, balsamic vinegar and roasted potatoes". Sounds good, right? Well this is what arrived at the table. Three chicken strips covered in a balsamic sauce that was like glue. I did not see cherry peppers or bell peppers in my plate. I saw something else in plate which turned out to be sausage sliced razor thin. I'm 64 years old and I would have to say this was the worst entree I have ever ordered in a restaurant.

Great Service & Very Good Food

By mayflower57 |

This is a cozy little place downtown. My friend and I met for afterwork dinner at 6:30 and we had the restaurant to ourselves until we were on dessert! I love that they served whole grain bread with olives and chunks of parm cheese - Yum! Then my friend had the minestrone which she reports was served nice and hot and was very tasty. She also had the chicken marsala which was very good. I wasn't that hungry so I ordered the special eggplant rollatini appetizer and the San Marino salad. It was so much food, I brought home some of it. The San Marino salad was especially healthy, not the usual salad and very tasty. We will be back! Nice quiet, intimate setting with very nice servers! Really a 4 1/2 experience.

The best meal i ever had in NY

By Gencgashi |

We had dinner the other night and we could not be more satisfied. Great place for private parties, delicious food and the service is superb. I highly recommend it to anybody who wanna have a great time and great food.

Good Italian Restaurant

By Cyberenda |

The restaurant was just below our hotel, so it was very convenient. We dined there on the first night on NYC. The good was quite good. We ordered pasta and parmesan chicken. The pasta was pretty good. The parmesan chicken was good, although the tomato sauce was a bit too sweet, which is a common problem in many Italoamerican restaurants. All in all, a good quality/price ratio, since we dined for under $100 for both of us, including two beers and desserts.

Hidden Gem

By Nancy123 |

We were staying at the hotel and didn't have plans for dinner. We walked into the restaurant, and seated right away, the staff was exceptional, the food was divine. It was such a treat to find this gem right in the lobby of our hotel. The chef came out to speak with us a wonderful man from Florence, Italy. I give this restaurant 5 stars, it was an absolute delight. Julie, Joe, Nancy Boston, MA

Good find

By Megane201 |

We were shopping in Soho we decide to stop in this restaurant and have a bite with my boyfriend. Food was so good and we order one by one five appetizer and one salad . Burrata cheese with melon was so good . Grill calamari was very tender. Service was superb . Must tray if you are in area .

Wow! Excellent service and delicious fresh food.

By Renzo |

While staying in the city for a few days my companion and i desided to visit this restaurant on our last night. It was a great decision, as soon as we walked in we were nicely greeted and directed to our table. The maitre d, waiters and food exceeded our expectations. The ambience, decor, food preparation and presentation is excellent. I definitely recommend this place. Its a must visit if you are in the area, very quiet and romantic.

Great Pizza!!!

By D H |

We recently found this place while walking through Soho and tried their arugula salad, portobello appetizer and the pizza, which was excellent! You get a choice of small or large and customize it with the toppings you want. The outdoor patio is really nice also.

OK

By M3vonzuben |

Pay attention on bills. They over charge tips. Food was OK. Spaguetti Carbonara was the best, the children loved it.

Good Food, Definitely Not Fast Food

By sullific |

My friends, their son and his girlfriend, and my husband and I chose to eat here the Saturday before Christmas while visiting the city. They had evidently eaten here before and said it was good. The sign has the French, Spanish and Italian flags, but the food is 98% Italian (the only French dish I saw was cassoulet, the only Spanish one, paella for two). Four of us had pastas, one veal piccata, and...alas, I forget what the other fellow feasted upon. I would have liked my penna arrabiata spicier, but nothing wrong with it. Everyone seemed pleased with their food. Those who had appetizers (calamari, carpaccio) also seemed quite content. Those of us who had dessert (tiramisu, bread pudding, pineapple) had nothing to complain about. The place was packed when we were there. We got there, it was crowded, then filled up to capacity, emptied out and filled to capacity again. All while we were there. Definitely not fast service for our table. Don't really know what the holdup was, perhaps they thought we wanted to just chat. Seems to be a place popular with the famous and their photos cover one wall. Typical NYC bistro ambience, a nice place, reasonable prices; I think the menu was a bit limited, however, as I am looking at this some folks here are reviewing a restaurant in Soho and others one in midtown. This is the midtown one!

A lovely choice for Christmas dinner.

By graceo |

We made reservations at San Marino pretty randomly. (Its Christmas Day prix fixe was among the most reasonable.) We made reservations for 4 but we overestimated our cab ride and arrived half hour early, before serving had begun. Not to worry. They made us comfortable with water and drinks and we were able to settle in. My appetizer was two tasty eggplant ricotta rolls, my entree, linguine with lots of clams, my dessert, tiramisu. The service was kind of old-fashioned, with various men attending us. The atmosphere is also old-fashioned. You feel as though you're dining in another era. Overall our random pick worked out very well.

Good for happy hours .

By Brooke W |

Fantastic restaurant. We went there for happy hours . Service and food was great. I do recommended a lot for happy hours .

Not Overly Impressed

By Glenn B |

Decided to have dinner here due to the later hour and convenience as San Marino is located in the hotel we had booked. We were the only guests on the outdoor dining area. The menu has some items that appealed to our tastes, so we decided to order. The staff was attentive and the food did not take long to arrive. While waiting, they provided a basket of varied breads as well as some olives and oil. The shrimp hors d'oeuvres (buffalo shrimp) arrived and was average at best. The main course was average as well. The chicken used in the chicken salad appeared to be frozen chicken fingers that were overcooked a bit. The brick oven pizza, while good, was not of the quality you would expect. Overall, we found the food to be average. The worst part, was when the manager/owner? came out to water all of the plants surrounding the tables. While I completely understand the need to water (especially in 90+ degree weather) it should not have been done while customers were present, as the excess water draining out the bottom of the planters, ran underneath our seats and table causing an unpleasant and somewhat unsafe situation. The bottom line in my opinion, is an average restaurant, average food and above average service.

Severely underestimated

By Jeffrey G |

As someone that lives on the road and lives for restaurants, I will occasionally eat in the hotel for convenience. Given the reasonable price points, I was willing to give San Marino a try one night. First off, the service was great; I even went as far as to mention this to Starwood, who owns the hotel. I had salmon that night and it was solid - surprisingly well cooked (i.e., not overcooked), so I decided to try San Marino the next night. I asked for a recommendation and had an amazing dish - a chicken dish with a rich sauce and veggies. Decided to return for night 3 because they mentioned that they had gluten free pasta - penne and spaghetti - (gluten is an intolerance of mine) and again amazed by the results for an under $20 dish. I'm really surprised to see that most folks just come here for the drinks at the bar and the nice outdoor patio because they are missing out. Soho is full of great restaurants, but this is one to check out.

Great Italian Food

By Y2810HQsandram |

We were a group of seven and everyone enjoyed the dishes he/she had ordered. It was hard to select a dish as there were so many good choices. The waiters were attentive but not intruding. It was a very relaxing dinner.

Allergy Friendly Restaurant! Great service and food!

By Boschkarr |

It is very hard for me to eat out often due to my food allergies and San Marino just took great care of me. The food was great, the service excelent. I could not have asked for more. My trip to New York was so easy thanks to them. I will def come back soon! :)

Great Pizza

By Travelbug8 |

I have had pizza at this restaurant a couple of times and loved it. The pizza is light and flavorful. The cuisine is authentic Italian food, its the real deal!!!!! The food is soo delicious and so fresh that after eating a large meal you feel whole instead of that full feeling. I really like the food here the restaurant also has a nice wine selection.

Dinner with Friends

Delicious! Great Service a fantastic meal. Here for music at the City Winery, found San Marino just around the corner. Dinner was incredible- now off to listen to Steve Earle. Will definitely return.

Great Food and Service

By Sanibel3 |

Sam, the maitre d, was an exceptional person. He was very attentive to our group of 6 but then it might have been because one of us spoke with him in his native Albanian. This was likely not the case as he as well as the other wait staff were very attentive to all their guests. Everything we ate was wonderful. The Bronzino was fresh and very well prepared. The mushroom and artichoke appetizer was fantastic as was the pasta with fave beans and artichoke for which Sam substituted home made cavatelli. The pollo Mt Etna was exceptional, a great combination of flavors. All dishes were plentiful. The weather was perfect for sitting outside. One couple was staying in the hotel so we choose this restaurant. We were very satisfied with our choice.

A complete disappointment. Do not reccomend

By Toninho |

We were very disappointed with the Service. We got at the restaurant at 10:05pm, 55 minutes before the Kitchen was “supposed” to close, according to google. When we were already seated and asked for drinks, the waiter returned from the Kitchen, and, a bit embarassed, told us the kitchen was closed, even after we had been told by him earlier that the kitchen was open.

Attached to a Sheraton

By Larry B |

We chose to eat here as we were staying and attending an event nearby. There were few restaurants open on the weekend on nearby blocks and the menu didn't look bad. We didn't realize that it was attached to a Four Points by Sheraton hotel, which is probably why it was open. There were two waiters, ours from Mexico (he seemed to be new at the job, though he was not young) and one a young, newly-arrived Albanian. I mention this only because they told us where they were from as we chatted with them after the meal (we were the only customers left at 7 on a Sunday). There was also something of a language issue with our waiter. For instance, he continued to call my wife and me "Gentlemen," as he did with another couple. We gently offered a correction at the end of our meal. As I've noticed an increasing number of (usually young) waiters do nowadays, he took our order right after taking that of another couple and wrote nothing down. He then returned a few minutes later with a notepad to ask us to repeat the order so he could write it down. The food was average; I had minestrone (somewhat watery) and a cavatelli with wild boar ragu, which was tasty (with a reasonable portion size). My wife had baked clams and fettuccini with shrimp. The house Montepulciano was average. My wife did get sick later in the evening and she suspected it might have been the shrimp, though I have no evidence of this. I did have a clam, so it wasn't them. So my rating says, very average.

Exellent Resteraunt

By 40familyof4 |

I really enjoyed the food here. It was delicious and seemed to be mostly homemade. The service was good too. The food was the best part of the experience. The price was pretty reasonable. I would definitely recommend visiting this resteraunt.

Great experience!

By Egert B |

Once we were seated, the service could not have been more attentive.we told our server that we were under time constraints due to our city wine show, and he accommodated us beautifully. Our cocktails, wine and food were served super - promptly. Our server brought the latter group complementary drink. Everyone raved about their meals. Oh yes -great bread to. I will definitely return to San Marino Soho have dinner here and go to show in City Winery. I am fan off the show in this place and usually come often.

Best place, great food.

From the moment you open the door it feels warm and welcome. The people who welcome me tell me to make myself comfortable in and enjoy the night! I have been there many times and every time I go I test different dishes and oh My... It's good place for small private party or large, depends. Bronzini, pasta, salad and everything delicious...and the service is surprisingly friendly! Thanks, Julinda

Service was excellent. I had the Burrata mozzarella and the spaghetti carbonara they were absolutely delicious. Keep up the good work.

Better than first impression

By DiS |

We went here on a whim and were pleasantly surprised. We walked in and were initially turned off by the greasy zucchini they served us, but it went up from there. Great martinis! Stuffed eggplant appetizer was ah-may-zing! Gnocchi, lobster ravioli, tiramisu, & chocolate mousse were all soo good! And the house-made sambuca was impressive. The ambiance isn’t stellar, but they make up for it in food!

Worst Lunch Ever!

By Destination259072 |

I had been wanting to come here for over a year -- so I was excited to finally try it! The service was terrible. There were 2 other people sitting outside. One wasn't even using the restaurant -- just a guest of the hotel. The other was sitting at the bar watching TV. It took over 15 mins just to get a menu. The waiter was not knowledgeable about the options. Happy hour is just two draft beers...he didn't know even though they're on display. The caesar salad was an absolute joke. The chicken sandwiches looked tasted like they were made with boiled chicken instead of grilled chicken. The fries were forgettable. Would not recommend coming here! Go literally anywhere else in the area.

“ABSOLUTE PERFECTION!!”

By RMartini2014 |

I went here with my husband last night. We sat at the bar, and only ate from the entree menu, but it was glorious. The staff were delightful from the moment we got there, the owner made a point of personally welcoming us. Excellent food, warm and friendly service, delightful ambiance and the prices are reasonable for the quality of the food and service. Definitely make a stop there! Great experience and I would go again!

Great Service!!

By SP |

This is a great hidden gem. A friend and I were looking for somewhere quick for lunch. We did not know what to expect since this was inside of a hotel but it was well worth it. The food was delicious, and the service was Outstanding. From the bread and olives at the start of the meal, to the waitstaff, quick service, and Chef Enzo coming by to make sure we enjoyed everything. I do not live in NYC, but I will definitely be back!!!

a good place to celebrate with friends

By jon s |

always have meetings in NYC around first week of December. we have a group of friends that always meets for dinner here one evening during our annual trip. this is a very solid place - just down the block from the Waldorf and across the street from the Marriott east side. has the usual offerings of a very good Italian restaurant. staff is always friendly and accomodating. service is very good. price is also very good for a Manhattan restaurant. highly recommend

Great family dinner

By Nereid2 |

We had a great time with my family! The service, the food and the atmosphere were excellent. Their pasta and chicken parmesean were delicious. I had a great time getting to know the wines and the house made sambuca. Very happy experience, we'll come back again.

Pre-concert dinner

By scsullivan49 |

Found this restaurant in a search, as I'm not too fond of the City Winery menu. It was nice to randomly find a place so close to our destination and the hospitality was very good. The host and wait staff were very attentive and dinner was delicious. All the specials sounded very good, and ot was no more or less expensive than other NYC restaurants, so no surprises when the bill came. Try it if you're in the area.

Tremendous

The salmon was superb. We loved the wine selection too. The server knew the menu exceptionally well and was really friendly. Nice ambiance, we loved it!

Pleasant surprise!

By Tracy L |

We were looking for a quant restaurant. This came up in our search. I was looking for a place that served Spaghetti Carbonara. Did not disappoint! My husband had the ravioli and that too was amazing. We didn’t have any desserts as we were full already. The atmosphere was lovely and just an overall good place to go for dinner. Price was actually really for NYC.

Hidden Gem in SoHo

By Dwight B |

From the outside, San Marino presents a nondescript facade attached to the Sheraton Four Points hotel, but inside, one finds not just another hotel restaurant. This Northern Itailan spot features an excellent menu. I started with prosciutto and melon for an appetizer. The proscuitto was tender and flavorful and the melon was just right - not so hard as to impede the flavor of the ham. For main course I had the fish of the day - red snapper in a white wine cream sauce. It was divine. I finished the meal off with a chocolate mousse, which was the only less-than-perfect dish - it was too cake-like and not enough mousse-like. Good, but not outstanding. Unfortunately I don't remember what my companion had but our satisfaction with the restaurant was unanimous. A real find and worthy of a repeat visit. We were there on the Saturday night of Thanksgiving weekend, which might account for the almost total absence of other diners. Service was impeccable - timely, courteous and efficient.

Hidden gem

By Karen R |

I was surprised this restaurant wasn't available on Trip Advisor to review or had any prior reviews. I asked them to add it to the list because it's that good. It's located on the first floor of the Four Points by Sheriton Manhattan in Soho. We ate their Christmas eve and had a wonder-full experience if you get my drift. Very full after that meal. The entire staff was very nice. Owner, Sammy Gashi, even made the rounds to all of the tables to see how everyone was doing with their meal. Our family likes seafood italian dishes and this place is perfect for that cuisine. Salmon with black pasta - more of that please! Never had black pasta before. Just a spectacular experience. Definitely check it out. You won't be let down.

Fantastic Restaurant

By Ricardo L |

I had a family and friends gathering on Friday night at San Marino and the experience was marvelous. The staff were very attentive and to my surprise the owner self was contributing to get the best service. I am not a salad fun, but the suggestion to "try it" change my whole perspective of it. The lettuce were fresh and the condiments and dressing were added in the right amount making a superb dish. Some of my guess ordered "Monk fish" in Livornese sauce which I didn't hear about the fish before, and they were glad they did. The taste was insignificantly salty which was understandable for the olives and capers, however, that made the difference to give an unique flavor. I had Steak and it was cooked just at the temperature I requested. It was juicy and accompanied with rousted potatoes. FANTASTIC! Overall, this is a place where I strongly recommend. Thank you San Marino and staff.

Like cheers but better!

By Jay C |

This restaurant is like cheers because my wife and I come here often while on business and everyone knows our name but beyond cheers this place offers everything from fine dining to a casual meal on the patio to room service. The breakfast staff, Jay and Gury, and the dinner staff, Troy and Vas, always remember our preferences. The owner Sammy and his team always provide excellent Italian meals with large portions. Excellence food, excellent staff, excellent experience. Jay and Catherine

A good place to for good food and to plan a treat

WHAT THEHEEBEE SAYS ABOUT SAN MARINO RISTORANTE SOHO I would like to start with a thumbs-up to the delicious food and the courteous staff of San Marino Ristorante SOHO. I got an opportunity to dine at San Marino Ristorante SOHO during my stay at Four Points by Sheraton SOHO. I stayed at the hotel for a week. During my stay, all my breakfast was at San Marino Ristorante SOHO and one day evening I attended the beer fest. This is a small and cozy setup right amidst the Soho Village area. There is a small bar at the entrance, right opposite the reception with a few bar stools and television to spend a good time. As you go further inside, there is this nice cozy dining area which is well set and nicely lit. A lot of wooden furniture and wall decor gives a pleasant time while dining here. I loved this dining experience as it gave me the much needed cozy and calm feeling and helped me to get refreshed. The breakfast menu comprises of a well-set collection of dishes for all kind of food lovers. I tried almost all the dishes in one week of my stay and all were absolutely delicious and fulfilling. All the breakfast was served with a choice of fruit juice. On Thursday, I had the pleasure of attending the Beer Fest and I loved it. Fresh beer (stout) was served on the tap along with some delicious food. Special mention for the staff who is always helpful and courteous. They ensure that we feel comfortable and are very professional. I have watched some amazing parties and get-together happening here in the evenings with some lovely music. I feel that this is surely a good place for good food and to plan a treat. Signing Off Hiral Amodia (TheHeeBee)

A Wonderful and Memorable Birthday Lunch at San Marino!

By SandyNYC01 |

Thanks to maitre d extraordinaire Lerdi, we had a wonderful and memorable birthday, lunch celebration. Everything was impeccable - the delightful atmosphere, the attentive service, and the scrumptious dishes. Thanks for the homemade sambuca and the birthday, lit cake. We will be returning again and again. Bravo!

A lovely restaurant for a family birthday dinner

By Ilana S |

We were 10 adults and 2 children celebrating several birthdays. We needed a restaurant near the Financial district as a central location after work. Even for an early reservation (6:30), I was rejected by over a dozen restaurants before finding San Marino. They were extremely accomodating when I called, assuring me it would be no problem. In fact, when we arrived, they had given us a table in a separate area which really made it feel like we had our own room. The service / staff were very attentive and accomodating. The menu is interesting, and the food was very good. We started with two pizzas for the table to share. The Portobella appetizer was excellent. I ordered the steak, which was enough for two people, and served beautifully - well seasoned and perfectly cooked. My husband ordered the veal and reports it was equally delicious. We shared desserts, which arrived with candles. We will come back to San Marino SoHo again!

Hidden Gem in SoHo Village

By mjw612 |

One of the few restaurants in NYC you can order "Pollo Mt. Etna," a perfect blend sweet and savory. If you're not into chicken, they have a wide array of traditional and non-traditional Italian dishes. Everything on the menu is top-notch.

Excellent!

By CincyBrian |

Dropped in for a family dinner and will definitely be back! All five dishes plus appetizers were delicious. The service was very gracious and friendly. We were dressed casually but it has a formal, white tablecloth decor so dressing up would be appropriate.

Thank you San Marino

This place is a hidden gem!! After shopping in SOHO, I was pleasantly surprised to find this amazing Italian restaurant. The food was great. The service was great. The atmosphere is great. Good for any meal. Definitely recommend and I will be returning soon!

"The Best Italian Restaurant"

By Nek M |

Been there so many time's, had awesome dinner, and a great service, greate foood. Nice and clean. Love this place. Thank you Sammy for your hospitality thank you Timmy. Will be back

A delicious surprise!

By Mark K |

Convenience brought us there the first time - to have an early dinner before a show at the Greene Space on the next corner. The friendly waitstaff, the excellent food and the great value keep bringing us back. From the tiny bar come generous pours. The house wines are now among our favorites for our house. For the best possible experience, make sure your table is in the skylight room. My personal favorite dish - the chicken and vegetables in a lush balsamic sauce.

Great food

By Cindy C |

I came here with my friends to have a nice dinner and was pleasantly surprised. The food was great and the service was beyond excellent. I would definitely recommend ordering the Tagliolini Pesto pasta. It was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was all that you would expect in a classic Italian restaurant. If you are visiting NYC or live in the area, you should definitely get a taste of this place.

All Around Great Restaurant

Superb Restaurant

By Dorian369 |

Many restaurants offer good food but few offer an amazing dining experience. Even with a large party of 6, this restaurant managed to make us feel like we were celebrities. From the moment we walked into the bar, the bartender made us feel like we knew her for years. Our server, was attentive and catered to the special allergy needs of our party with caring and concern. The food was delicious, presentation a work of art, and service that sets a high bar for other NYC restaurants to match.

Great food, awful service!

By bryang73 |

Food is great, just don't expect to see a waiter at your table or receive your food, ever. Order for room service or delivery.

Great staff, if little atmoshpere

By Dougalai |

Attached to the Sheraton next door, this is a great place to eat if on your own (which I was for business). Ate there twice and it was very quiet both times, but staff were helpful and attentive. Food was excellent.

Rehearsal dinner party

We had a dinner party for 50 the staff was accommodating and friendly the food fabulous. The atmosphere cozy Italian. This is the place to be for a dinner for 2 or a party of 50.

convenient when in hotel

By wisgirl01 |

i had take out lunch here, so probably not the greatest experience to rate the restaurant on, but what I did order was fine. I had a salad and soup. Service was great, and it was convenient for my needs.

NYC best kept secret!

By CWilusz |

We love this restaurant! Hidden away behind the bar at the Sheridan on Charlton Street in Soho is this beautiful gem of a restaurant. The food is excellent and the service is outstanding! We are always made to feel like special guests: offered bruschetta, olives and delicious breads as soon as we are seated. The wine list is very good and very reasonable! We enjoy sharing the large salads, most recently the beet salad. Pasta dishes are scrumptious and the waiters will make suggestions to please every palette! Last night at our waiter's suggestion we had shrimp & spinach cooked in garlic & olive oil over capellini... yummm!

Solid Northern Italian Restaurant

By tms215 |

It is your normal offering of Italian dishes but made perfectly. There was nothing to complain about. The food was excellent (It's a good sign if you make calamari this well). The service was excellent. There aren't a lot of restaurants near here so if you are in the area or want a "destination" restaurant for a special date? This is a great choice

A nice little Italian Restaurant but atmosphere could be better

By JcTjr |

This was a great little stop for a Lobby restaurant. It has its separate entrance outside as well walking through a small open courtyard right next to the Four Points Lobby in SoHo on Charlton. You walk into a bar area that is very very tiny with about six seats at the bar. It is a very bright room with little if any character. I walked in & the bartender was not very friendly or attentive. She was a younger girl with three customers at her bar and seemed quite overwhelmed and completely not interested that a customer walked in the door. I walked past her and towards the back of the restaurant which is where the other two rooms are located. You walk into the next one which again is quite bright but darker appointments were in the room and where the service station is. I was greeted immediately by several male servers who were very very attentive and friendly. I decided to sit in the back room which is where all the character is. The tables in that room are linen-covered and candle-lit. the lighting was subdued and quite nice. The mudic playing was very indicative of the Sinatra era. The room was darker in styling and very italianate. It has a glass ceiling with a large Center chandelier so that was pretty interesting. When it came time to order, the food was VERY good. It came out in a reasonable amount of time. They definitely lean towards a little more fine dining but nothing over the top and I would describe the atmosphere as upscale casual. I had some tortellini in brodo and it was very well prepared and extremely tasty. Followed by a fish oriented dinner of red snapper & jumbo shrimp sauteed wonderfully in a lemon wine sauce with a small side of spaghetti. It was very flavorful and well presented. A variety of breads came out during the meal as well as separate complimentary dishes of assorted olives and sauteed zicchini to enjoy. There is a bar and open wine list which is also quite inexpensive and you can definitely find what you're looking for. Pricing was very reasonable and the atmosphere was okay so I'd say this is a great spot to just pop in if you're wandering around Soho and looking for something Italian. Mario was one of the attendees to my table & he was over and beyond attentive to all needs while i dined.
