This was the 4th time we have visited this historical restaurant. This time also was exceptional. We were a multigenerational family of 11, having dinner before a show. The venue itself is classic. We ate upstairs. Great food, great service. We let them know we had show plans, and were looking for a two hour dinner. They accommodated perfectly. What nice people. We will return on our next trip.

Sardi's was a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. The service was good, but the best part was the food was amazing. If you ever get the chance go!

This well known restaurant in the theater district is simply wonderful. Yes it is expensive but the service and food is a ten. A great lunch selection and a full bar. Just a wonderful place to share a meal with friends. Reservations are a must.

Sardi’s is reliably good food at a fair price and is conveniently located in the theater district. I highly recommend eating here if your going to a show. Our server was professional and our meals were well paced and delicious.

I had always wanted to dine at Sardi's because it was so famous! Food was really good- appetizers, main course, and desserts were very tasty! Atmosphere was truly New York!!! Loved the colorful sketches!!!

It has been about 60 years since I was last in Sardi’s. I’m sure the pictures have changed. This time I had some of the best oysters on the half shell I’ve had in a long time, salty with a nice cocktail sauce, a little pricey but what the hay. I had the meatballs and pasta cooked al dente. The meatballs were not particularly tasty. I had to ask the server for a spoon to twirl my pasta. The bathroom suffered from lack of attention. It was only a short walk To Kill a Mockingbird.

Great location. Food was mediocre. Service was great. I got the spaghetti and meatball and the bolognese sauce was fine, but it should be stellar at an old, established Italian restraurant. So a tad disappointing.

I'm 81 and my friend & I got to the theatre too early. Handicapped and unable to stand, I needed to find a place to sit. Sardi's was the closest restaurant, but I did not think a fancy restaurant like that would allow us to sit in the main room (no stairs) and just have a cup of coffee, especially since it was noon on matinee day. My friend asked the maitre d'. He not only allowed us to sit, but found us a table both out of the way of traffic and close to the entrance and took my walker out of the way. The wait staff brought us a full pot of coffee with milk on the side for me and cream on the side for my friend and kept checking to make sure we were OK. They never pressured us (or even asked us) to buy more. Everyone was kind, cheerful, and pleasant. Next time I'm in the city for Broadway, I'm going to be sure to eat my full lunch at Sardi's.

I love Sardis! I have a long history of Sardis dining. While the service has changed a bit, the ambiance and food are still wonderful! I try to stop every trip to the city. A bit pricey, but if you Egypt it to spend, it is definitely worth it.

We went here because it’s... Sardi’s but were not impressed at all. It was a waste of money. Period. There are many other wonderful Italian restaurants to choose from so keep looking Not only does this place need refurbished, the food is poor in flavor and presentation and completely overpriced. I wish I could give a 0 rating, but gave it a 1 rating because the staff serving us was on point and they deserve much more. The owner and management needs to up their game by 100%. Do not spend your money here. There are too many other wonderful places to go!

We were in NYC to celebrate a 16th birthday with dinner and a Broadway show. We were seated right away with a reservation. Water boy repeatedly spilled bits of water on us and the table every pour with no acknowledgement. Our server seemed less than thrilled to be working and was more robotic/distant than anything. There is no kids menu FYI. Food and drinks were very underwhelming. Service was less than attentive from our server. Nothing done for our daughter's birthday. Left unimpressed and disappointed as we had high hopes for a great evening out. Decor and location are the highlights

We came here after a show because it's iconic and we've never been. We really enjoyed our meal and the service. It was a very good experience. We enjoyed a caricatures of the stars for which it is known for.

Loved the many caricatures on the walls. Sardi’s is a Broadway classic, with a long history. The service was impeccable, food was delicious and served quickly. My kids enjoyed the ambiance, and loved the Shirley Temple’s. Prices were high, but nothing we didn’t expect when dining in the middle of the theatre district.

Went here before a show. The food was good, the service pleasant. It was extremely crowded so we sat at the bar.

We loved everything about our dining experience here. Incredible bread to start, fine wine, excellent friendly service and great menu choices! Glad we stopped

Always a must when visiting NYC. Great old school cocktails by old school bartenders. The same people for years. Prices are on par for the drinks but the appetizers prices very high aside from the cheese and crackers. Great atmosphere. We always stop in prior to a matinee.

Two of us visited for lunch prior to a matinee performance on Broadway. Sardi's is located smack-dab in the center of the theatre district. We arrived a bit early for our reservation and greeted by the handsomely dressed maitre de with a welcoming smile. The spacious, well lighted dining room was understandably busy with the buzz of the pre-theatre crowd. He readily guided us to our table whose location was not to our liking. No problem, he graciously offered another where we felt more comfortable. Sardi's has been serving theatre go'ers and professionals for generations, so they know how to move people without them feeling rushed. Our server was a delight, personable, efficient, and helpful with the menu. The offerings are many, none especially innovative or complex in keeping with the time requirements of their guests. Yet, the food is very good, prepared with fresh ingredients and quite tasty. The wine and cocktails were excellent without skimping on the quality or quantity. For entrees we ordered the beef bourguignon and the glazed salmon, both very enjoyable. Prices are commensurate with the experience. We certainly will return.

Food poisoning, my daughter has been violently sick and has had an upset stomach since eating at this restaurant yesterday due to her food not being heated through. We are here on holiday and have lost almost £1000 on experiences which we’ve had to cancel including her having to leave the theatre 45 minutes after consuming the meal due to an upset tummy and pains, a helicopter flight which we’ve cancelled today along with summit one last night - today is her birthday and she has been unable to leave her hotel room for almost 24 hours. Dreadful place failing to follow basic health and safety regulations

We came for dinner before a show (we had a reservation through the opentable app). We were seated promptly and our server was very warm and attentive. I ordered the chicken parmigiana (I don’t see it on the menu online, so maybe it was a special that day). It was delicious and great comfort food on a cold day. It was fun to spot the portraits on the walls as we chatted. Great food and great service! Definitely worth visiting!

The atmosphere at Sardis is truly something else. From intimate dinners to grand celebrations, the restaurant exudes an elegant charm. The staff, attentive and professional, ensures that every guest feels like royalty. If you're looking for a great dining experience, Sardis is the perfect destination.

This is kind of a tough one. It's so historic -- dating to the 1920s, in the very heart of the theaters -- and the walls are still covered with signed caricatures (we sat below Tom Hanks), so it's awkward to sound negative. We'll try this: There are several better Italian restaurants within a couple of blocks. It's overpriced for what it is. (I had a cheesy cannelloni ($30) touted as a specialty that seemed worthy of an Olive Garden. It came with two thin slices of stale bread.) Service was . . . well, earnest. Paid $19 for a martini, same price and brand but not as perfectly chilled as enjoyed at famously pricey Keens steak emporium two days earlier. So: If you wish to bow toward tradition and need the convenience ("New York, New York" is across the street) and your expectations are realistic and you can afford it . . . why not? I guess.

This establishment did some things well and others…. Not so much. The onion soup broth was very sweet. Not to my taste at all. Chopped salad very good. Friend had turkey club- nothing special. I wanted hot tea but the only had herbal teas and Lipton! Really Lipton tea at Sardis? Highlight was the chocolate mousse with raspberry coulis. Service extremely slow!!!!!

The caricatures of stars shine in this iconic restaurant near Times Square and theater district. So historic! Great food and service

It has been a while since I had lunch here. However the food is as good as ever! The place is packed as in years past and the food is quickly served because most of the diners are probably going to the WEDNESDAY MATINEE! I did not take the PRIX FIX MENU which I guess is for theater goers! THANK GOODNESS THIS VENUE HAS SURVIVED!

We went to NY for my friend's 70th birthday. It was her first time visiting NY and had always wanted to go to Sardi's. I had not been to Sardi's yet and expected it to be the average NY theater district long-term restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised, delighted and hope to return someday. The food was outstanding. I had lasagna, my friends had the shrimp and a pasta dish. All were excellent. What we will remember most about our visit, is the team working at Sardi's. They made our experience extraordinary. From the moment we walked in, the team is professional, friendly and are striving for you to have the best experience possible. We popped up to the upstairs bar where we met Jeremy. Jeremy not only loves his job but he loves his city. This is the New York experience one fears no longer exists. Jeremy looked after us and was very personable, thoughtful, witty, fun and made me the best pomegranate martini I have ever had. He is an artist at his craft! We are so thankful he made the move to NY from Indiana, what a great story, and such an asset to Sardi's! This is New York, Sardi's delivers. Thank you!!!

we went for drinks before the show at shubert. there's a bar upstairs and downstairs. convenient. we didn't have dinner there. there is a bathroom attendant which is interesting.

After wanting to go here for many years, our experience was wonderful. Had a late dinner following a show. The dining room was less than half full, and the ambiance and service were perfect. It had the best type of old school feel in all ways. Our waiter served bread from a basket using silver tongs while our meal was prepared. Our table selected the meat lasagne, pasta bolognaise, glazed salmon, and meat canniloni. We also ordered a side salad with mixed greens in a vinegarette that excelled in simplicity and quality. It was a respite from the chaos of a Friday night on the sidewalks of the Theatre District. Delicious and relaxing!

We were on a tour with friends. This was a late anniversary trip. We ate here prior to going to see the Temptations at the Imperial theatre. The waiters were very nice and very attentive. We had eaten earlier in the day and not very hungry. We got appetizer and desserts. They kept coming and refilling drinks. The atmosphere was great. Very relaxing and great place.

Cool place! Steps from Time Square this historic restaurant is worth a visit. We had an outstanding lunch in the bar area and it did not disappoint. The caricatures on wall were cool and the bartender explained the history of this unique feature.

On her first visit to New York my sister had to eat a bowl of lettuce in a near empty restaurant served by waiters who knew nothing about people’s gluten green needs. They didn’t even keep gluten free pasta which is always a fail safe. It didn’t give a good impression of your city

We dined at Sardi’s pre-theater. There is great history and atmosphere here with all of the caricatures on the walls. The Christmas decorations made it more memorable. I had the fusilli with Bolognese ragu and my wife had the shrimp. The shrimp was not bad, but the pasta was tasteless no matter how much cheese you dumped on it. I can do way better at home. Service was good and I had a nice cappuccino to finish the meal. It’s unfortunate that this restaurant is clearly resting on its laurels. This was the most disappointing meal we had on our trip.

Great for a pre-theatre drink and appetizer. Hey, there’s a lot of restaurants to choose from in New York but few have the atmosphere of Sardis especially as you sit right in the middle of the theatre district. Grab an epic drink, choose from an array of appetizers and have a minute or two walk to a dozen or more theatres. Location, atmosphere and the most personalized service you can come across. Shout out to Abdus in the upstairs lounge!

We went with 3 other friends. My wife had the Club Sandwich with fries and I had the Spinach Lasgna with cheese. The food was good and tasty. Our friends had an assortment of other foods. Service was good and attentive and helpful. Ambiance is great with pictures of Broadway actors and others.

Had some great pasta prior to our 8:00 show. We had 6:30 reservations, arrived early, and easily made the show on-time. Charicatures on the wall are fun to see.

Our family dined here prior to Broadway show. Make sure to get a reservation that times with your needs for making your showtime. Seated promptly at reservation time. Service was attentive, polite, and prompt. The restaurant was full prior to Broadway shows and you could tell this is their sweet spot and were fully prepared to handle the rush. As others have mentioned, there is no children's menu, but they are happy to accommodate reasonable requests (ie spaghetti and meatballs or pasta with red sauce, etc). They had a nice wine/drink selection, and our drinks came out fast from the bar. We ordered the Cannelloni au gratin, classic beef bolognese, ragu bolognese lasagna, and spaghetti with meatballs. The food came out relatively quick for the large crowd that was being served. It was flavored well and everyone had good things to say about the food! They made sure to get us out with plenty of time to walk to our show! Overall this was a wonderful experience at a 'classic NYC Italian' restaurant. We would recommend Sardi's for small groups and families, particularly prior to Broadway shows!

The restaurant was beautiful. The caricatures were fascinating. The staff were amazing, from the waiter, the server, to the young man who cleared off our table. The food was excellent.

Amazing Restaurant! Classy, interesting, nostalgic and the food is great too. It’s been at the heart of the theater district since 1921 and it’s a gem!

Lovely meal and experience pre theatre in a great setting for Broadway fans , food and service excellent and for all its reporting and location thought prices were very good by nyc standard

If you’re going to NYC and you’ll be in the theater / Times Square area, do yourself a favor and make a reservation to have dinner at Sardis. It’s exactly what we were hoping for. It’s like taking a step back in time. The white linen topped tables, waiters in uniforms and an ambiance that will leave a lasting mark in your memories. The iconic caricatures of famous stars from the stage and silver screen cover all of the walls on both floors and in the bar. The food was very good (I had the salmon and my wife had the filet medallions). They asked if we were seeing a show after our dinner to make sure we would be done in time to make the show. They even volunteered to hold our leftovers in the refrigerator so we could come back after the show and take them home. We didn’t take them up on this offer because we were staying in a hotel, but it was a really nice service to offer. Sardi’s should definitely be on your agenda the next time you’re in NYC!

The waiters are friendly, but the rest is overrated. The food is very simple and supermarket quality, to wonder if they cook the dishes themselves or just add a little decoration or cheese over (Canelloni). Disappointed

Lunch at Sardis yesterday as good as ever with a buzz of theatre goers off to matinees. Food and service excellent and while it’s all a little tired, who wouldn’t be at 92 years old! Long may it last.

I am an out of towner who loves Broadway, and I have been traveling to NYC to see shows every couple of years for the last 40 years. I have been to Sardi's on multiple occasions over the years, most recently during the first week in Feb. with my adult daughter. I have never been disappointed. I love the cozy atmosphere, and have always enjoyed the food. Most recently, I had the Cannelonni entree and it was outstanding. Yeah, I know it is for tourists, but that's what I am. I love the professionalism of the wait staff, and of course it is great fun to see the caricatures. It is an integral part of the Broadway experience.

Sardi's lives up to its reputation as a classic before-theater dinner spot. We were seated upstairs, and the restaurant was full. We were asked twice what our theater times were, and we appreciated the concern. Cocktails were perfectly made, and our lasagna dinners (one bolognese and one spinach ricotta) were huge and delicious. Great service from a friendly staff.

When in NYC, you gotta visit a classic restaurant before a show. Sardi’s didn’t disappoint. We enjoyed excellent Italian food and a friendly, attentive server. Best to have a reservation. We’ll visit again.

Sardi’s is a famous restaurant steeped in history and nostalgia. It is well known for its celebrity caricatures which adorn the walls. They accept reservations. We dined there in-between shows and were seated promptly. It has an old school, classic atmosphere. Their servers wear red uniforms, and the tables are covered with white linen tablecloths. There was an attendant in the bathroom to hand customers a towel after they washed their hands. Service was great, and I enjoyed my pasta there. It is a worthwhile experience for those who enjoy New York theater history.

Classic ambiance. Impeccable service. Very tasty food. A very popular pre-show dinner venue. We had 5pm reservations and took our time and made our 7pm show. .

We went for a family dinner. We had reserved a table via open table, and we were seated right away. The place is nice. We were served by a female waiter who clearly was unhappy with being on our table. She was making eye contacts with other waiter every time we ask her for something. Finally, by the end of our meals, a male waiter came, and pack the rest of the food for us, and gave the check. Food was good but not that special.

I made our reservation prior to arriving in New York. Its an iconic staple for theater goers and I wanted to say "I've been there". Besides checking it off my list, I have to say, I was very happy with the whole experience! From the host at the door, to the wait staff, and the delicious food - it was a fantastic experience. Even after our trip, my husband said "I would have eaten there both nights we were there"!

Avoid this place. It’s trading on faded glory and not worth the money. When we lived in NYC some thirty years ago, we loved this place. Now the food is on the “Olive Garden” level and terrible.

This place is so iconic, we had to go after seeing a Broadway show literally across the street. The food was good, not great, but the atmosphere and history of the place make up for that. Service was good, too.

It's convenient for a show but that's really it. I know it's got a long history but you pay for that. portions are on the small side and prices are on the high side. service was great. nothing special here

Our tour group had dinner upstairs at Sardi’s. The dining room was very nice atmosphere. The salad very fresh. The salmon was cooked perfect and garnished with sweet potato soufflé. Our dessert was NY cheese cake with coffee.

Wonderful food and accommodated my food allergies. Had the spaghetti and it was very tasty. Definitely not an Italian restaurant. They did not provide a spoon to twirl the pasta nor offer a sprinkling of cheese.

With dozens of theatres a stone's throw away, the vibe is electric, leading upto showtime. Staff at all levels do a great job to get you fed and ready in time before the curtains rise. A place with a grand heritage and fitting ambience with reasonable prices and decent food quality.

Service was good. Food was average at best. Convenient location. Would not recomend or go back.Salmon ,Shrimp ,Fusilli boloognese and the saddest Turkey Club ive ever had were all average. Filet Mignon was good. .

A classic NY spot. Stopped in for a quick drink before dinner. the bartender could not have been nicer or more accommodating. We sat in the little bar to the left of the main entry. Caricatures on the wall, very classic NYC. Drinks were excellent. Lots of tourists but its in the middle of the theater district, to be expected.

Four of us had a 5:00 reservation before an 8:00 curtain across the street. The table was ready at 5:00 and the receptionist seated us even though only two of us had arrived on time (unusual in Manhattan where many, if not most restaurants will only seat complete parties). Wait staff arrived promptly and were, for the most part, friendly, professional, and present when needed. Food was good, but lackluster (e.g., the smoked salmon appetizer served with two slices of untoasted, wheat sandwich bread) ... roughly the quality that one finds at most city diners for 1/3 the price charged here. Don't come expecting to be wowed by the food or drinks. Just come once so you can tell your friends you dined at Sardi's.

Perfect location for a meal before or after a play! The ambience is totally Broadway with hundreds of Broadway stars caricatures lining the walls of this beautiful and historic restaurant! For more than 100 years they have served wonderful meals and given incredible service. It’s truly a fabulous part of a theatre experience! Jay, our waiter, treated us so well and was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Highly recommend!

I loved that our waitress asked if we were going to see a show and what time was the show. My wife and i split a Caesar salad and the Cannelloni Au Gration and it was the perfect amount of food. Both were very tasty. We loved the old feel ambience of the club.

Lovely staff. They looked so professional and the food was really good. Everything sounded good but we kept seeing these amazing salads passing us so we stuck to that. Staff was very quick, but don't ask who people are.....they probably don't know the pictures. Shout out to my hype girl who was an attendant in the bathroom upstairs. She was amazing and worked so hard.

This is our second time dining at this restaurant. We recommend making a reservation on Open Table for a seamless experience. Our server was very good and the whole service team met our needs. The food was very tasty and the presentation was lovely. The ambience is very cool, and theatric - perfect to attend before or after a Broadway show.

Sardi's bar is so fun! Old time, classic bar. The bartender KNOWS how to make a drink...Enzo is a pro and took care of our large, loud, late night group. He is a martini pro, and just the right person for the job. Loved the setting and vibe.

We stumbled across this gem as we were walking through the theatre district and remembered this restaurant from the tv show Seinfeld. We made reservations on Open Table which was super convenient. We were seated in a cute corner booth, surrounded by hundreds of celebrity caricatures. Service was top notch and our water was great. We expected the Menu prices to be high - however they were very reasonable and we enjoyed the appetizer special for two, chicken parm, salmon and bottle of red. The food was very tasty. Overall, a wonderful experience and a perfect restaurant when attending a Broadway show.

Once again, Sardis hits the mark. Straightforward menu with prompt and attentive service that always gets us out on time for our show. The appetizer for two was a huge hit at the table (we ordered three for a table of 8) and everyone’s main course was just right.

The first hint that this place had gone downhill was that we walked in on a Saturday night easily without a reservation. Several open tables. My salad was good, but entree of spinach cannelloni was very bland. I was served my Sidecar cocktail in a wine glass filled with ice. (if you know sidecars, you understand why this is frowned upon).

I grew up at Sardi's. I spent almost every day of my life there from 18 years old on and was always seated amongst the stars. I owned a New York and Hollywood Talent Agency, was a Broadway Producer, Hosted a Celebrity Radio Talk Show, Wrote a Nationally Syndicated Newspaper Column about Broadway and New York nightlife and created the Broadway and Theatre Opening Night Telegram that replaced Western Union telegrams from 1972 until 1989. Vincent Sardi,Jr. was a dear friend of mine. I have thousands of memories from the good old days. Max is now the Proprietor. Max is a wonderful man who welcomes his guests; the Stars of Broadway, Theatre Owners, Producers, Directors and Actors, Broadway Theatre-Goers and local Broadway and New York business people. I was a Broadway creative businessman for decades, owning many Broadway related service businesses. .The Sardi experience, with Stars of Broadway and Hollywood, Broadway show Actors, Theatre Owners, and Producers and more, gives Sardi's the edge over the rest of the restaurants. Yes, the food and service is excellent!

I hardly ever write reviews but after this experience at Sardi’s I felt compelled to. Upon arriving with a reservation for eight we were seated and placed our orders. When the check arrived all eight meals were on the same ticket. Most of our party wished to pay with a card as points and rewards are accrued but upon enquiring about separate checks we were told by our waiter who had a major attitude that it wasn’t possible! I don’t know if this is the norm for restaurants in New York or if this was the laziness of our waiter, but I do know I will never return to Sardi’s.

Have always wanted to visit here and finally did. Great restaurant with such character. Service was slow and quite unattentive. Took a long time to order, but staff were efficient but not the most friendliest. The food was pleasant but nothing outstanding

The food is decent but not fabulous. It is fun to identify all of the caricatures. I would come more for the atmosphere than the food.

What it could be: it could be great, it could be memorable, it could be classy. What it IS: the same old, same old for decades. Some of the dishes can be delicious: seafood comes to mind. And a few desserts are way above diner food level. Yet food can be really bland here. And the rooms need upgrading: chairs are often not comfortable. Service: hit and miss: if a server likes you and in a good mood all can be delightful. But watch out for the server who is bored or boring. What can one do. It IS Sardi's. Oh, the bar is fun!

The food is classic Italian perfection. The only thing better than the maitre d ushering us to a table when we walked in off the street was having him casually glide past an hour later to make sure we would be in time to see our show. A perfect experience.

I was treated to Sardi's for my birthday lunch today. I had been there a few times in the past. The food and service were outstanding as was the atmosphere. It was great to know that these great WWII and WWI generation celebrities that I like also ate there and have caricatures of themselves on the walls: Eddie Albert Fred Astaire Lucille Ball Ingrid Bergman Irving Berlin Ray Bolger Victor Borge George Burns Eddie Cantor Art Carney George Gershwin Jackie Gleason Fred Gwynne Margaret Hamilton Lorenz Hart Ted Healy Bob Hope Lena Horne George Jessel Gene Kelly Jerome Kern Dorothy Kilgallen Werner Klemperer Bert Lahr Marx Brothers Audrey Meadows Ann Miller Frank Morgan Joyce Randolph Ginger Rogers Walter Winchell Joan Rivers

I finally got to eat at this iconic New York restaurant! Stopped for a pre-theater dinner, so I was happy to see that they offered smaller portions of their signature dishes. I ordered the appetizer portion of their meat cannelloni, and it was delicious! The only thing I would have liked is a more extensive list of wines by the glass. but it was fun trying to identify all of the caricatures on the walls. In fact, they seated me right in front of Lucille Ball.

We were extremely disappointed. Two of us had fusilli pasta with beef Bolognese. Tasteless. Neither of us finished it. My wife had the fillet medallions which were quite good. The Rhône wine we ordered from the wine list was one of the worst wines I can recall from any supposedly decent restaurant. Not corked. Just bitterly unpleasant. To me there is no excuse that they would even offer this wine. To their credit they brought us another bottle to replace it, a decent low end burgundy. Overall, not at all what we expected.

We had read some poor reviews of Sardi's, but many of them focused on the space between tables and service etc which given our experience eating all across Europe wasn't really a worry. So we gave it a go. We are so glad we did. Sure, the tables are close together, but the service was very good, the atmosphere was excellent and we loved the drawings that cover the wall. The food was excellent and the four of us really enjoyed it.

I went here in Dec , I had read about the place , we went in after a show and it was very quite, food was ok waiters were old old style - it might have been more fun if it was busy

I'm writing now in May 2020 amidst the Corona pandemic. Just remembered the visit with my wife to Sardi's end of November 2019 and it seems like a dream after the total stoppage of traveling or even going out. If I go again I may go back to Sardi's but honestly I went there by pure coincidence and without any reservations. We were lucky as we randomly selected Sardi's and almost immediately got a table although it was a very full time. We had very short time between entering and going to one of the shows nearby. Atmosphere at Sardi's is different with tables very close by each other's and walls full of celebrities hand drawn pictures. I got a burger that was done properly but with very little addons as we usually get elsewhere. I'm not such a burger fan but menu wasn't my favorite since I am not used to many of the items such as raw meat and pork items that I don't eat. Anyway it is a nice memory now and I wish I can go again!! My wife just reminded me that they forgot to bring lettuce and tomatoes with the burger. They didn't seem so interested in making me feel happy with that being fixed!!

Bland caesar salad; over-cooked salmon; very slow service (with a waiter who kept forgetting parts of the order). I will not return.

We had a group of 12 here last night. The restaurant has a cool vibe and of course filled with celebrity drawings. We ordered bottles of wine which were great- as expected. A few martini drinkers said theirs were done right. With a large group pre- theatre, you hope service is good. Well it definitely was. We had plenty of servers showing up on a regular basis. We are a fun and happy group so I’m sure that helps. We loved it. Food? It was very good. Cheese platters, salads and oysters to start. All excellent! Main courses were good although not outstanding. But prices were fair, service fantastic. Definitely go.

I grew up hearing about Sardi’s and was delighted to get to eat there! The atmosphere was classic old New York. The Crab-Cake appetizer with Asian style salad was fresh and tasty! Followed by a delicious Lentil Stew and Vanilla Bean Creme Brûlée. Newbies, we enjoyed guessing who the stars were represented by the caricatures on the walls. The waitstaff were attentive and kind. Newby Tip: take a tip with you to the restroom for the kind and helpful restroom attendant. Overall it was a fabulous dinner!! Reservations at 5:00 was perfect for a nearby 7:00 theater show.

Had the filet and chicken parm. Excellent, well priced and great staff. Well worth it. Would go again.

We hadn't been to Sardi's for several years, but decided to go to dinner there as we were seeing a Broadway play across the street that evening. Made reservations a day in advance and were promptly seated. Drink orders taken. The food was quite good. I had the classic Chicken Parm, but my husband had grilled scallops on a bed risotta. I thought he was going to lick the plate! Service was outstanding throughout our entire dinner. The best part of the evening though was talking with the couples on each side of us. One couple from Ohio and one local couple. We found several common denominators and kept us talking throughout our dining experience. We will be going back on our next visit.

Fun to go to an iconic spot. Service was great and very friendly. The host even moved his podium so I could get a picture of my daughter with the Kermit sketch. GF options are limited.

My family and I dined here post theatre after seeing a matinee. I loved being surrounded by the caricatures, I feel like I'm dining somewhere really special. Our waiter was very nice, the bussers & runners were very polite, the food was good, but it was slow. Fortunately we were dining post theatre and were not in a rush. We shared the Sardi's appetizer for two, baby kale salad and chicken quesadilla. I had the spinach cannelloni au gratin, which was delicious. We also shared the tiramisu and chocolate decadence cake. All the food was really good.

This time honored venue has possessed the winning formula for years, so expectations are high and they are always met. Although there is a huge seating capacity, reservations are highly recommended for getting a table when you want it. From host to bathroom attendant, the staff are wonderfully professional and yet kind, friendly and warmly adept at making the experience very personal. We have never had a bad meal here, and this go round was no exception. Only disappointing part was that Sardi‘s famous baked Alaska was not available. We started with the house-made mozzarella and tomato, drizzled balsamic and olive oil on the side garnished with basil— fresh and delicious as expected. My daughter and I both stuck with pasta dishes— I feasted on the meatballs over fusilli pasta pomodoro with herbed- ricotta to garnish while my daughter thoroughly enjoyed her fresh spaghetti with Pomodoro fillet and chicken on the side. Big Yum for both. Prices are a tick on the high side for simple countryfolk but completely commiserate to the area. Although we were both stuffed to the gills, our charming and delightful waiter Mateo sold us on dessert. We were stymied by the many mouthwatering choices but gratefully opted for the creamy tiramisu, which we inhaled. There always seems to be something new to look at… gratefully.

Enjoyed a nice dinner here before seeing a broadway show. Only one vegan option (spaghetti with tomato). Food was plentiful but quite average considering the effort that’s put into the rest of the place. Service was excellent with lots of attentive wait staff. Shame the food is not better.

I grew up in NYC and regularly went to Broadway shows with my father. Always wanted to eat at the famous Sardi's, but he refused saying it was a tourist trap. Well, I'm all grown up now and finally went on my own with my husband. This isn't a five star place, but it's no tourist trap. The famous décor is simply delightful, and the service was friendly and attentive. We enjoyed a drink in their bar before our show, then an absolutely delicious plate of spaghetti pomodoro after the show. The prices are higher than they should be, but we get it given the location. We'd definitely return when next seeing something on Broadway.

We went here for a drink and snack before the opera. Service was great as always. We had the cheese plate which was top shelf.

Very nostalgic restaurant with celebrity photos. Great service and wonderful meal. Raisin bread is terrific. Onion soup was delish. Appetizer for two was wasted dollars. Signature strawberry cake was good.

We popped in for an afternoon drink. The drink was great, the service was excellent, the ambience was amazing! We didn't get the chance to eat here with the timeline we were on, but the menu look fabulous and we will have to return when we have more time for a meal!

If you are a person of a "certain age" you have heard about Sardi's and know that over the years MANY celebrities have graced its tables....and, the caricatures on the wall attest to this. So, for us, it was a treat to dine here. Service was excellent and the food was very good. The ONLY disappointment was the onion soup. This is listed as one of the specialties but our soup was served luke warm, at best which was disappointing.

OMG. I'd heard of Sardi's (it's been famous for decades: Old Blue Eyes and Jerry Lewis used to go... when they were young), I'd walked past the place on previous trips (Hey, it still exists!), but this was the first time I've gone there to eat. ... OMG. A real chef works there. Like, trained and everything, daddio. And it's old-school service. A maitre'd to check you in, wait staff in vests to take your order, and separate staff to bring you water, bread, and the dishes as they come out. I had a cannelloni appetizer. If I'd had that at home, I'd have licked the dish clean, it was that good. It was out of this world, man. I had the orange-teriyaki glazed Salmon with mashed sweet potatoes and steamed spinach for the entree. It looked like a work of art, and tasted even better. It was to die for! I had the apple pie ala mode for dessert. This one... threw me for a minute. The appetizer and entree were BURSTING with flavor, while the pie... it wasn't gushy, it wasn't sickly sweet, it wasn't buried in cinnamon... it was really subtle, like it was meant to complement the coffee you get with it, not be the star of the show. It... it... it... might even be *healthy* (for a pie). The ice cream with it: chock full of vanilla flavor. This whole deal was the cat's pajamas, kid. Oh, and the walls: covered with caricatures of famous folk who've been. I sat under Nathan Lane and Ray Romano, across from Lucille Ball.

Not as fun as I hoped meh food. I guess it’s Times Square, very close to the theater and doesn’t have to be good. I’m planning to go to John’s the pizza place next time because although overrun with kids, it’s delicious pizza.

A reviewer writes that this iconic place is "nothing special". Hmmmmmmmm. Perhaps he or she didn't look around the room at the history of Broadway. We were in town for meetings and chose this lovely place (and the smart-looking waiters) on our first night just before a Broadway show (and a week before the Corona virus outbreak happened. What a difference a week makes.) We had terrific salmon and scallops. Looking forward to a future visit when the lights are back on on Broadway.

Attended the Off Broadway Alliance Awards on the 2nd floor of Sardis and the experience was lovely. The house staff were friendly and gracious. Charming decor for theater lovers

We chose this iconic spot for a pre-show dinner. Service was slow and they forgot our salads and charged us for them (we got it fixed). Small pretentious menu and the food was just ok. This was a first time/last time visit for us.

First time in Sardi’s, even though I’m a native New Yorker. We went for the pre-theater lunch. They have a very nice lunch menu, lots of options. The room was very crowded and noisy with tables very close together. Staff could hardly squeeze by. We both ordered the burger. It was huge. But it was so dry I could hardly get it down. It was excellent meat I guess, but without an ounce of fat. I took off the bun and still had trouble swallowing it. I will definitely go back, but no burger for me!

Excellent! The food was great, prices as expected and right across from Phantom of the Opera. Loved looking at all the caricatures while waiting on food. We got a table on open table two weeks in advance.

All the pictures are so great to look at FAMOUS PEOPLE ON THE WALLS! Serve was outstanding and the food was awesome!

Great location close to Times square and many theatres. We made reservations 1 week in advance, when we arrived for 4:45 reservations they gave us a choice of 2 different tables, which was thoughtful. It was a cold day so we chose a table father inside the main dining room. Dining room was packed when we left at 6:45 for Broadway musical. They are known for the sketches of famous people who have visited this establishment over the years....fun to look around and she how many you recognize. Rest rooms are upstairs ( steep flight of stairs), more drawings and casual dining room upstairs.

The meat cannelloni was superb! The cheesecake and cappuccino made an excellent end to the meal. The service was good. The caricatures are iconic of course.

It’s really disappointing to have to write a poor review, but Sardi’s did not live up to our expectations in any way. When I told our waiter I have a gluten allergy, I was told I should stick with lentil stew as a main course as it was the safest. When I asked if I could have the chicken soup as a starter I was told I could but without rice because there’s butter on the rice. What??? My friend reiterated to the waiter that I have a gluten allergy, meaning I can’t have wheat, barley, rye... - it’s NOT a dairy allergy. The waiter was clearly confused about what gluten was, and it poor service to not simply admit that to us and offer to bring out a chef to speak with me. I got the chicken soup and the lentil stew, both of which I’m sure came from a can, as I can guarantee no kitchen dices carrots in perfect little cubes that tiny. My two friends (who do not have an dietary restrictions) ordered tomato soup as a starter and then one had chicken Parmesan as a main and the other got the crab sandwich. Both of them said the tomato soup was incredibly acidic and that they would’ve PREFERRED Campbell’s. The chicken parm with spaghetti and sauce on the side was described as “Prego with a side of Chef Boyardee.” The crab sandwich was “fine.” I’ve never been so disappointed in a restaurant that is supposed to be such a NYC landmark. For $40 per person I would’ve hoped for more than canned food. I will not be returning to Sardi’s.

This was a pre-theatre meal ahead of Hamilton. The atmosphere is great - some great celebrity watching of some New York royalty. Definitely worth a visit for something different and Sardi's as an institution. It was disappointing that the service was really below par - yes they were busy, but it was borderline rude, our meals took forever to come, and impossible to get anyone's attention. We ended up having to get the cheque when the main meals arrived and speed eat to be able to make our show - and we had been there for 2 hours. It rather spoiled the experience.

A classic place, with excellent service. The food was fine, and the service exemplary. Other than the prices, which were not horrible, the place has probably not changed in 50 years. In a good way!

Walking into Sardi's is like walking through a time tunnel. Where you land once inside is a matter of perspective. For those who research the history of this storied Broadway staple before showing up, it is like getting a warm hug from times past and a thrill from times present. Chances are excellent you will see several familiar images of stars from stage and screen. Those of us of a certain age might be especially awed to see so many classic personalities gracing the dining room walls, their caricatures winking and smiling at diners as they dig into cannelloni au gratin and clink high ball glasses of Tom Collins. If you have visions of acting greats communing over white tablecloths and cocktails, you won't be alone. That's just how it was for us. Our meals were satisfying, the wait staff was attentive, and the manager accommodating, even providing us with the book identifying each image in the four-story building. He also graciously invited us to the upstairs bar and secured a table where we enjoyed after-dinner drinks and mingled with original cast members from "Phantom of the Opera," which was slated to have its final curtain call the following evening. (We had caught an earlier production that week, so were especially pleased.) Like many establishments, Sardi's faced serious pandemic-related challenges and a lengthy closing. Their commitment to overcoming these to remain a time-honored part of Broadway's history and future is a gift to everyone who loves New York's theater culture.

Ultra professional welcome. Same service. Fairly ordinary dishes: cannelloni, entrecôtes… but we enjoyed ourselves, very very good and very well served. Decorative Broadway sign. To have.

This is a famous, traditional and historical restaurant in the heart of the theater district in Manhattan. It is expensive, of course, but worth the time and expense. It takes you back in time. The waiters in their maroon formal jackets work hard to make you feel special. The food is good. It's right across the street from the Broadhurst Theater and the Beautiful Noise show.

Classic NYC Restaurant in the Theater District. Ideal place to eat before a show. Food is great. Staff is stellar. Iconic restaurant that is truly part of NYC and the theater community.

The staff was wonderful, the entree good, the atmosphere amazing but the dessert (tiramisu) could have come from Wal mart! In fact, it reminded me of a tiramisu I purchased from Walmart and threw away. I was disappointed to the point of anger

One star because the food is TERRIBLE, but servers and staff are very nice and attentive. Crab cake tasted like a frozen dinner and the meatballs and pasta tasted like canned food. Avoid the temptation. Stay away.

Convenient to the Majestic & St. James theaters, but the restaurant seems a bit "tired" or something. Maybe we caught them on a bad night or something. Service was excellent, but the food was rather middle of the road. (The veal was unspectacular.) Disappointed that the pictures were rearranged but the "book" was not updated - was looking for a couple of faces & no one in the restaurant knew where they were.

Sardi's is a nice place to eat before going to a show, the food was pretty good and it's a fun atmosphere.

We enjoyed the crab cakes with spinach salad accompaniments. Spicy aioli was great. Wines by the glass were ok; not great. Friendly and attentive staff.

My wife and I decided on a before Theater diner at a New York dining icon...Sardi's on 44th right in the heart of the district. There is a reason why this outstanding establishment has been here since 1923; excellent food wonderful service with a tiny touch of fun. They have remained true to their roots and have not tried to become trendy, upscale, or change in any way. From the moment you walk in you are transported to another age. The dining room is much as it has always been with murals of the famous adorning the walls, a waitstaff that remains courteous and professional who take their job seriously. We were made to feel like our pictures were on the wall. For New York the prices are actually quite reasonable and the food is definitely "old school" Italian. The Cannelloni au Gratin has been served from the beginning and is still as outstanding as ever. For desert we enjoyed the "Baked Alaskan" which was fantastic. This a a must stop if you wish to experience a bit of NYC nostalgia and you just never know who you might see dining at the next table.

Four of us ate here before a Saturday evening show, and really enjoyed it. The food (while not gourmet) was well prepared and tasted great. Everyone, from the host who greeted us, to the wait staff who served our table, was friendly and efficient. The pacing of the meal was excellently timed, so that we never felt rushed, but concluded our meal at the perfect time to walk to the theater without having to hurry.

The ambience of the restaurant is amazing. The food is pretty average and bland. We had the burgers, salad and pasta. The burgers were better at shake shack and salad was lacking dressing. The pasta was good, but went if hangry, so maybe that’s why it tasted good

I was going to two Broadway shows in one day so choose Sardi's for an early dinner between the shows. It's been a long time since I've eaten here before and remembered it was very good and service was excellent. It still was. My DH met me there and was already enjoying a nice glass of wine and ordered a house appetizer for two. Our entrees were good and we even had time for dessert and coffee. Yes, it is expensive but most NYC restaurants are. The service was by team 3 and our main server Cliff? was so nice and friendly which really added to a very nice evening. Sardi's is one of NYC iconic restaurants and they must be doing something right since 1923 when it first open. This restaurant has been in many movies so it will be a nice surprise when you see it.

We went to Sardi’s because we thought being a Broadway institution, it would be an experience and a highlight of our visit. We were instead met with extremely unprofessional, tip hungry waiters. There were no pleasantries nor eye contact on arrival... like we just walked in a hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant. The waiter threw the plates, utensils and menu in front of us and left. Napkins were not folded. The waiter could not explain what’s on the menu. To add insult to injury, they’ve forgotten some of our orders causing so much delays. It’s the most ridiculous tourist trap I’ve ever been to. I don’t usually score restaurants below 2 stars but this one’s an exception.

Another wonderful evening at Sardi's. It is always great coming back to this restaurant, which totally understands the need to get great food in time for the start of the various broadway shows. They know how to handle any issues that may arise and they continue to produce some of the most delicious food around. I am already looking forward to coming back soon.

We had a lovely meal at Sardis. Haven’t been here in ages, and frankly the menu has not changed. The food was good quality. The service was very good. I did not appreciate the fact that when we arrived at 4:20 with reservations the entire main dining room was empty yet we were told to go upstairs. The Maitre D’ both downstairs and upstairs had a snooty attitude. I just rolled with it. We are blessed we could afford it. Some items are waaay over priced. $9.00 for a cup of coffee? We never did get the opportunity to look at the drawings in the main dining room.

Nice restaurant located close to the broadway theatres. Very nice staff and lots of character with the portraits of various Broadway stars around the restaurant walls. Food was nice, although the portion size for desert was rather small.

I took my twin 14 year olds to New York the first weekend of December 2019. They chose Mean Girls and I chose the only spot to dine before a Broadway show-Sardi’s. Once again, Sardi’s did not disappoint. The service excellent and the food was extraordinary. Do yourself a favor, order desert.

This is our go to place for a drink in the city. Normally we go prior to a matinee but yesterday visited the city to walk around and experience the decorations for Christmas. We stopped in just before 3pm and went to the upstairs bar. It was actually not open yet as the bartender Jeremy said they open at 3:30 but not to worry. While he prepared his bar he also served us two great martinis. Have never been there by ourselves for 20 minutes. Unique experience. Jeremy is a great bartender. We’ve been there numerous times and know his face but nice to get a chance to speak with him. He’s been there 25 years. We were surprised as well to have Marsha Mason walk in and grab a drink next to us. Turns out she was having her caricature unveiled that afternoon. Always a fun time and usually run into a celebrity at Sardis.

This restaurant is famous and crowded. I think it rests on past laurels. The food is not very good. It is across the street fro the Schubert Theater so we chose it. I had a Caesar salad. I asked for anchovies but the restaurant doesn’t have any. They are a main ingredient in a good Caesar dressing. The Caesar salad was not very good. My pasta bolognese was boring. The service was good

We have been on a previous trip for Lunch and were left uninspired by the stiff service and mediocre food. BUT…. We gave the place a second chance as we wanted the experience. We were not disappointed. The food was incredible and the service was vastly improved. Our waiter was funny and accommodating. I think going for Dinner meant the atmosphere was more buzzing. The staff seem to be less stiff and the entire experience was a joy.

We arrived at Sardi’s with 75 minutes until the curtain time at Rose Tattoo. The host said we shouldn’t worry as they would make sure we got to our show in time. The eggs Benedict was classic and excellent. My husband at the pork sausage cannelloni and enjoyed it thoroughly. Or friends had a Caesar salad. We had a bottle of a very good wine with our lunch and a very patient server. What more could we want? We had about 15 minutes after we paid our bill and headed to the theater.

No visit to NYC could be complete without visiting a famous restaurant, and our famous restaurant of choice was Sardi's. With our hotel located only a block away and the wonderful atmosphere and menu, Sardi's was an obvious choice. We arrived at the restaurant a little early but were greeted so warmly and immediately shown to a table. Our waiter had the most wonderful accent and warm demeanor. He even braved my friend asking a dozen questions without a hint of frustration. I ordered the Spinach Cannelloni au Gratin, which is a house specialty. After seeing portions at other tables, I opted for the appetizer portion, and I was so glad I did. It was fantastic with ricotta and spinach filled crepes in a delectable sauce, but it was filling. While enjoying dinner, we were surrounded by the caricatures of famous people and had fun picking out the ones we recognized. Excellent service. Excellent meal. Excellent atmosphere. If we ever visit NYC again, Sardi's will be on our list of restaurants to visit.

I finally visited, and I have to admit I was underwhelmed by the food The atmosphere is great. The proximity to Broadway is great, and the nostalgia is great, but the quality of food for the price you pay is a disappointment. I just expected a while factor with my food and I felt my Italian dish I’ve had better Also, the night I went there was a couple having a large fight screaming at each other, and the staff did nothing except just walked right by them, which was very odd

From the moment I walked in, it felt special. I loved the old school feel. Sitting at the upstairs bar being served by Jeremy(his wit charm and knowledge)was spectacular. Then seated for dinner in a corner booth… perfection. The food was amazing. There was nothing that could have been better. My bucket list was met.

This is a classic NYC broadway standout. The food is extremely expensive, but that is to be expected because of it's location. The Cannolini were delicious although I ordered the Spinach and received the beef. My husband ordered the scallops on top of green pea risotto. It was good. The New York cheesecake was awful and at $11.00 not worth the price. If you want to spend alot of money to eat at a historical restaurant, Sardi's is the place. There is definitely better food elsewhere.

Sardi's is a classic restaurant that exudes history and a beautiful ambience. We went for high tea and they did not disappoint. The service was wonderful and the staff extremely friendly.

Wonderful experience. While looking for a place to have a bite before our show, we came upon Sardi’s. This is an Iconic New York restaurant that I remember passing with my family as a boy ( I’m 71 now). To our pleasant surprise, they welcomed us to dinner without having made a reservation. The host was most pleasant and welcoming, staff, waiter and food was terrific. I’m so glad that we walked down the street a little farther from the Pizza place we were considering :-))

If your looking for a restaurant in the theatre district Sardi's is a great choice. Convenient, surprisingly delicious food with a good variety, something for all and friendly staff.

I would say the food was average. The atmosphere is great and so was the service. There were 5 females and at first they said they couldn't give us separate checks. However they then decided they could. Made thing a lot easier.

Had a fantastic lunch prior to a matinee. Delicious onion soup and a chicken sandwich. Both were fantastic. They know most are there for shows so they get you in and out but you don't feel rushed.

We go to Sardi's every time we visit NY. Great place to go pre or post theatre but if you go as the pre crowd leave and the post crowd haven't arrived it's almost all yours. Try a drink in the tiny bar on the left as you go in and watch the people. Great place to be. Get whisked to your seat effortlessly by incredibly efficient staff and sink into Sardi's elegance. Service is amazing, food is excellent. Love the rolling tables when a larger party want to dine. All pert of the vibe. We will continue to visit Sardi's every time we go to New York.

Seem to gather in the 2nd floor bar on weeknights after the curtain goes up in the area theaters. Interesting phenomenon, I’ll do some more investigating.

We arrived without a booking and were happy to be offered a table - we had no preconceived ideas or knowledge about the restaurant but it was pretty busy. We were attentively looked after by friendly staff. As we weren’t particularly hungry we had the appetizer for two which was great. Certainly worked well for us as a pre theatre option

The ambiance was great. Iconic Sardis with the caricatures. Service was good. Food was also good, nothing great but good and good sized portions. Worth going just to see the caricatures.

Sardi's provides a distinctive dining experience, complemented by high-quality and flavorful cuisine. Please be advised that restroom facilities are attended, and it is recommended to have cash available for attendant services.

Not only is Sardi's the ONE AND ONLY Sardi's in the world, it has the most extensive collection of caricatures of celebrities in the world. History just "drips" everywhere. The upstairs bar is a hoot. That's where you'll find characters among the caricatures.

Finally got to Sardis on our last night in New York WOW what a restaurant steeped in history, all of the portrait’s of past and present movie and broadway, just takes your breath away. Spent ages walking around the restaurant taking it all in and seeing who I could recognise We eat when the theatres were performing so the restaurant was quiet Food and service were average, but we didn’t really go for the food we went to see and be amongst the stars and history of this place Don’t miss out as it’s a massive part of New York broadway culture and history

Sardi’s came highly recommended for a pre-theatre meal but unfortunately did not live up to expectations. The service was good but there were several bored waiters who hovered around our table watching us, which was rather off-putting. The food was mediocre at best and very expensive. We had far better meals for half the price at upmarket restaurants elsewhere in NY.

My 5 stars are mainly because of the particular link I have to this place. I absolutely love hw this place has hardly changed across the years. Food is an ok american-italian, wine list good, table service excellent and atmosphere is one of a kind. If you're a theatre lover you shouldn't miss this place for dinner. Bar service is fantastic and the amazing cocktails are also wrapped in a sumptuous, mysterious and elegant vibe.

All around wonderful experience eating at Sardi's. Had made a reservation, so they were ready for us when we arrived. (Definitely recommend making a reservation.) Food was delicious, atmosphere galore, and the service was excellent. On the expensive side, but it is fine dining - and not as much as I thought it would be, believe it or not. Will definitely go again when we're in NYC before our next Broadway show.

This was our second visit to Sardi's, and while it was more fun the first time Sardi's just has a certain draw for a meal before a Broadway show. We made reservations ahead of time, but when we arrived the check-in desk was crazy with a lot of walk-in dinners. We ended up being about 10 minutes "late" because we had to wait for everyone before us. Luckily, they still had a table for us. Service started out ok, but then our server got busy with several tables around us. We splurged on drinks since it was our anniversary, but they were definitely not worth it--watered down and overpriced. Food took a while to arrive and we had let our waiter know what show time we had when we were seated. We had to skip dessert so we could get to the show on time. The atmosphere wasn't as charming as our last visit. A lot more tourists who don't bother with proper attire. A lot of families with bored young children making noise. The dining room was a lot noisier overall, so it felt more like eating at a chain sit-down restaurant. I did appreciate the professional staff. They are still top notch. It was fun to see new caricatures. We were seated in the same section we were five years ago and the pictures weren't the same.

Overall sort of raving restaurant and it has a lot of history. The drawings on the wall or something fascinating and it’s entertaining to try to guess who the artist is depicting in the characters. The appetizer menu is quite varied and the sort of specialist certainly one of the best. The food overall is very good. It’s well prepared and it has a very distinct flavor.

Very disappointed in Sardi’s. The service was horrible!!!!! I usually don’t make negative reviews on here but the service was so bad I have to mention. Was the food good. Yes—but very over priced!

Not a place I would visit again. I do want to give a good review but I am trying to be fair. The food was ok. The best part of our evening was the drinks! Really? Our waiter was absent. He came, got our order, and never stopped by to ask how things were going. When I made the reservation I indicated it was a birthday visit. No acknowledgement of this, so why ask? I did not care for the sitting! We were sat across from each other, but never did I imagine the siting plan there, as it was our first time there.! No privacy! The snotty people sitting to our left and right, could have heard any conversation we were having. I don't think Sardis will ever see my $$$ come their way. Very disappointed!

The atmosphere is great and you feel like you are back in time. The cocktails were very mediocre at best. Service was decent. I’d advise you to order a beer or something straight from a bottle.

This was a last night meal in NYC and was a real treat. Once the pre-theatre diners had left the restaurant emptied which allowed you to see the caricatures of previous visitors. Service was excellent without being over-bearing and whilst the menu was limited it was imaginative and very tasty. The sharing plate was excellent and the specials list good value. Highly recommend

Had to take my “GLEE”k of a son to the scene of the crime; where Rachel had dinner and ran into her musical theatre heroine, Patti LuPone. Food so-so but it wasn’t about the food. The experience. The ability to say we ate at Sardi’s. And what made it perfect was that it was directly across from the theatre.

Great for a memory!! Atmosphere was bustling and service rushed… Sauce was “a la Ragu”…shame on you! BUT my granddaughter thought the waiter was adorable so it was worth the “very otherwise mundane” experience.

We had such a fun and delicious lunch at Sardis before we went to see To Kill A Mockingbird.which is right across the street. Sardis is the epitome of Broadway with pictures on the wall of of all of the many Broadway performers. The staff was nice and helpful.

We had a great birthday supper for my husband at Sardi's restaurant. The service was excellent and so was the food. They were accommodating with making replacements in meal choices. We all order something different, but my husband's meal of chicken parmigiana was the best out of our four choices.

My adult son, Dan, treated me to a play "Oh, Mary!' (funniest thing I've seen on Broadway!) and prior to the theater we went to lunch at Sardi's which I paid for as a late birthday treat for my son! Son made reservations for 1 pm but that really wasn't necessary as the place was pretty empty. We had very kind and delightful waiters. Son ordered a glass of rose and I ordered a beer. Son ordered a bolognese dish. I told him I had read a review of bad on such, but he wanted to try it anyway. I ordered chicken Parmesan. Mine was fantastic and such a big piece, my son ate part of it. It came with roasted potatoes and wonderful sautéed green beans. Son thought the bolognese was 'ok.' I tried it and I would agree it was good, not great. We both while there had to go to the bathroom, which are upstairs and more interesting pics up that way. We both agreed the restaurant is in need of some updating. The bathroom I was in was clean, but needs updating and son said the same about the men's room. The carpeting going upstairs is in need of replacement. We also agreed that the waiter's uniforms are very outdated and need a more modern look. This was expensive because we both had 2 drinks and we also had a couple of coffee drinks afterwards. Not necessary to spend as much as we did, however. We did really enjoy our visit there and, of course, its always great fun to look at the celebrity pics on the walls!

A simple place, if you give it a great hype for the normal it is, the food nothing special, rather a little scary, the squid they put us was very small, without any garnish and also a slightly weird smell, which we did not eat,, is the only thing that is close, but would not return the truth,, the employees very attentive and helpful, yes!

The food & service is fine, but I really like the old time atmosphere w/ the caricature drawings on the wall. My favorite parts though, are the small, cozy friendly downstairs bar & the larger upstairs bar from which you can see a large swath of Broadway theatres & activities below through huge plate glass window. It is especially nice in the winter when it snows.

We stopped in around 4:30 (thought we’d be earlier) bc my daughter wanted to see the caricatures. I thought we’d grab a cheese plate or dessert. The host said they couldn’t seat us since we didn’t have a reservation but we were allowed to come in and look at the walls. Everyone was nice and we didn’t feel rushed.

Although I grew up and went to college in NYC I had never been to Sardi's. My husband and I went Saturday sept 23 2023 . I noted before we went mixed reviews. However we found everything to be outstanding Our waitress Ellie was excellent - the food was first class Italian, everyone was very pleasant we had an excellent table the maitre d was very professional. Overall highly recommended.

It certainly has the charm of the celebrity drawings, but don't come here to be wowed by the food. Our wines by the glass were mediocre. Our caprese salad was one of the worst ever. Palest, flavorless tomatoes and and the mozz had little flavor and not great texture. One of us had the scallops and another the salmon. The scallops were just ok with a bit of unremarkable risotto and very nicely prepared veggies. The salmon was good. The mood of the joint was mostly great though I will say I was disappointed that one of the staff sat down tow tables away from us to have a bite to eat (which is perfectly fine) but turned on a sports event on his phone (which is not fine). I have to listen to ball games on someones phone speaker while paying these prices for dinner? Not cool. What I would recommend if you want the Sardi's experience is to have a drink in the bar and maybe an appetizer. There are hundreds of better places to eat in this city.

Sardi’s is a theater district institution! The food, service, and ambiance are all wonderful. As of the second week of April, bread service had just returned but the legendary raisin bread has not yet returned. I had the chicken parmigiana and a lemon drop martini - both were great! It’s so nice to see Sardi’s open again after the covid closure!

Dine where the stars have been! So cool to see all of the pictures and know you are in a place the stars frequent and enjoy. We were treated just like anyone else, our reservation was honored and right on time. Service was as you would expect at a fine dining establishment. Even though we were not the biggest spenders, we were treated very well and respectfully. We knew the menu was more expensive than what we are used to, but the food was fabulous. A great special experience, especially for my teen daughter who loves everything Broadway.

Wanted to go to Johns Pizza but they were closed for a private party, been before and johns is excellent. Sardis was a few doors away and looked good. Told sorry we’re in a mess a large party just left. Nice table comfy seats. Menu ok but we were hungry it was 3.50 when we walked in. Simple order spinach cannelloni and a chicken burger with salad. Poor service rules we had to ask for refills of water and the meal took until 4.30 to arrive, when I questioned it the server stated it always takes min 25 mins for the chicken burger (not something he or anyone else had mentioned) Cannelloni was ok, nice and hot lots of cheese. The chicken burger was not great minced up with odd flavour left half, the salad was a laugh wish I’d taken a picture when it arrived, one massive pice of onion a lettuce leaf, slice of tomato (very tasty) and half a gherkin that’s not a salad that’s lazy. I asked for the bill and the server presented me with the credit card set up with a 20% tip already added. I declined the tip and advised the service was poor, I wanted to say lousy. Really disappointed won’t be back Ever !!
Phantom of the Opera Night
Great food and great atmosphere. We had the Steak medallions and the crab cakes, tasted great and worth every penny.
