So Ive been to Scarpetta when it was near the Highline. The food was better there. So the best part of our dinner was our server Craig and the bread. The food was just ok. Disappointing. Looking forward to the polenta. I was so disappointed. The portion was so small than I had before and it was super watery. You needed a spoon to eat it. But the sauce was flavorful. Got the spaghetti with tomato and basil and it was okay, nothing fantastic. You can this at home. And The octopus was too salty. So for the entree we got the chicken which was the better entree. It was nicely cooked and flavorful. The cod was weirdly fishy. Bone marrow pasta had a nice flavor. Nothing special. Thank goodness for the the bread. While the restaurant was nicely decorated, our server was great, the food was just ok. I will not go back. Too many other great restaurants in nyc. Disappointed.

If there’s ever a place in NYC that lives up to the stereotype of having snooty and clueless front of the house staff, non-knowledgeable bartenders and mediocre food, Scarpetta is it. The Host got my reservation incorrectly (made it 60 days in advance), the bartenders couldn’t tell me what on their wine list would taste like a Riesling (bartending 101), they seated us at the bar entrance -crazy noise level (for 3 laides), and when moved to the dinning room, the BAD-ATTITUDE Host actually said to me: “If you don’t like where we seat you, there are options you can take”- and motioned at the door! I’ve been to numerous Michelin restaurants in the world, and never had I encountered a more hostile, rude and just overall poor dining experience. I will NEVER recommend this restaurant to anyone in my network. So sad! I was hoping my visiting friends would have a fantastic NYC dining experience. They were aghast at the service level, the crappy attitude from the senior staff, and the food was mediocre at best. Poor front of the house staff is always an indication that an owner is looking to get out. Look for a new restaurant to take this location over soon, as these folks are on the decline. The only saving grace was that our waitress was friendly and the bread basket was tasty.

Walked in for a quick pasta, but it proofed so much more!! All 3 of us had a different dish, but the same feedback: AMAZING food, excellent wine to pair and good service.

Absolutely delicious! I was traveling solo and sat at the bar. The bartenders were super friendly, helped me pick out a few dishes, and the atmosphere of the entire restaurant was perfect. Their bread basket included a roll with ham and cheese, along with sauces. It was the perfect start! I ordered the beets and tagliatelle, and I can’t wait to go back and try something else. Thanks to the bartender for finding the perfect tequila to go with my toffee date pudding!

In short, the food at Scarpetta NYC was not only excellent, but the service was top-notch! Even with the very delayed seating, the staff made up for the long wait with a complimentary dessert for my family. We were there for my birthday! From the seasoned and exceptional waiter, David, to the bussing staff, Ahmed... it was stellar service. To add the next day my wife and I couldn't resist the food and returned for lunch. The manager, Jose Luis, was accommodating, understanding, and attentive. We were in a pinch and needed the food sooner than later. So he made sure the team took care of us... I can't wait to return a third time. As in 3 times a charm. Go! You won't be disappointed.

Always fantastic food & service. Never disappoints. One of our favorite restaurant restaurants in NYC. Many a special occasion is spent at Scarpetta

My experience at Scarpetta was one of the best! The staff is so attentive, the wine list is to die for and the dishes were perfect. I tried their spaghetti statement dish and I can tell you it is worth it that I still wonder what is the secret ingredient.

Scarpetta is crowded and a tad noisy but has excellent food. A good vibe. We had the Yellowtail sashimi, polenta, stracciatella, and then the spaghetti pomodoro, mezzaluna, cavatelli and tagiolini, all excellent. We split the budding and chocolate cake. No disappointments here.

Excellent Italian food in a classy but fun environment. Waitstaff great. Sommelier even better. Food portions not huge, which is good because the appetizers, entrees and desserts are all worth trying.

We made a reservation weeks in advance for brunch at Scarpetta. It was a short walk from our hotel near Times Square. The restaurant is beautiful and the service was exceptional. We loved our meals- Almond French toast & the eggs bennie. The coffee & bread basket were also excellent. Beautiful ambiance.

The ambience is nice but the food quality is not there. When we sat down, we were excited because the restaurant is gorgeous, the staff is nice and the service is great, we were sure the food was going to be off the charts and up to par but it was actually truly disappointing. Considering the price and the kind of restaurant it is, we were expecting superior taste then what we had. We ordered the beet salad and it was okay but bland. Then we had the duck and foie gras ravioli and even this was meh. Then we ordered the wagyu beef and it was literally full of tendons and really not great considering this meat is supposed to be so tender. We were also not impressed with the food presentation, could’ve been much better. The restaurant was nice enough to remove the wagyu beef off our bill which we appreciated. At the beginning, they bring you different breads and dips that are great. The service was good but a bit too quick, we felt like we were being rushed. We asked the waiter to slow down because we wanted a slow service.

We were celebrating a special occasion so we selected Scarpetta based on rave reviews of the food and atmosphere. I’m sorry to say it was not special at all - in fact the staff made us feel badly about the entire experience, and the dishes we had were decidedly average. We arrived on time for our reservation and were told that the previous party was "lingering." We were directed to the bar, but there was no room there so we stood. Then we noticed that others who had to wait were told of an adjoining room to sit. Not sure why we were not told (we were dressed nicely and are New Yorkers). After a 50 minute wait we were seated at possibly the worst table in the restaurant. It was close to the entrance, with bright lights outside shining on one side of the table and a utility truck with a bright yellow flashing light that gave a strobe effect for the first half of our meal. When I asked to be seated at a better table as it was a special occasion, I was told all their tables were good and “don’t worry your waiter has been instructed to do something special for you.” Then we waited 5 minutes before water was served, and an additional 5 minutes before our waiter appeared. The “something special” was a free plate of grilled cauliflower! Our waiter told us he almost gave us sushi (?) but he thought we would prefer cauliflower - “it’s on the house!” They seriously thought cauliflower would make us feel better about our experience!? We did not think the food was very good either. The market salad had tough ends of greens and the only “spring vegetables” present were a few shaved radishes (maybe they ran out of ingredients?) The burrata was average. We all had pasta dishes and they were okay, but we have had better fresh pasta elsewhere. The whole experience made us sad. We paid a lot of money to be treated badly for an average dinner.

New Yorkers sure do like to be heard throughout the whole restaurant. My brother & I were seated at 7pm, Mon. 29 June, as reserved. This restaurant is the NOISEST restaurant I have EVER had the misfortune to visit! And at 80 years old I have been to very many restaurants in my life. We were seated next to each other but still had to almost shout to be heard. And, since we were NOT "Big-spenders" on this particular night, one of the hostesses brought our check before we were offered any desert. We had to get the waiter to let us know what deserts were available & we were allowed to order before paying! How condesending! I WON'T be returning to this restaurant in the future! Waiter was very good & the food was outstanding! It's the ambiance & the hostesses that drag this place down.

The service was impeccable, the food was great. Although the menu is small, what they have is well done. The dining area is lovely and quite spacious.

I love eating in Italy and often do. This was as good. Especially good were the two pastas we had: the agnolotti and the mezzalune were both spectacular. To my amazement, the wine list included the 2015 Barolo from Guido Porro, a producer who flies well below the radar of status seekers. It was the perfect choice for the pastas (esp. the agnolotti). Every aspect of the lunch was delightful, including the welcome by the hostess and the friendly, well-informed waitress. I felt lucky to have gotten a reservation on Sunday for Monday.

Cacophonous place, with crowds that make it difficult to hear who is with you at the table! Good Italian cuisine impeccable personal style

I recently had 3 clients out to Scarpetta for dinner. I think we had at least 6 appetizers and 5 or 6 entrees to share among the 4 of us. Each dish was better than the other, with the Yellowtail & the Braised short rib dishes as my favorite appetizers. For the entrees the Cavatelli , Halibut and Wagu Strip dishes are delicious. The restaurant has a high energy vibe, great service and Outstanding dishes to choose from TOP SHELF !!

Stopped for a drink here before dinner. Atmosphere is wonderful. Drinks and bartenders were great. I don’t care for the short back stools but that is a personal preference. Definitely a nice place and would love to try dinner there sometime.

I was staying at the James NoMad and decided to have my friends meet me there for dinner, my expectations were exceeded! The service was outstanding! From the time we arrived until the time we left, which we really didn't want to leave it was fantastic! The food was delicious and the wine was just perfect, we even splurged for dessert for all of us to share and loved everything! I can't wait to go back! The memories created with my friends will be remembered for a lifetime! Run don't walk to Scarpetta!

Madison Ave rudeness. We had lost our luggage so granted we weren’t looking like posh celebs at the moment, but we wanted a nice dinner and a great bottle of wine. I saw online they had a few reservations open, so the assumption is you have a few tables for walk ins. We didn’t have a reservation so the hostess (well all 9 of them standing there) looked me up and down and decide there was nothing open until 10 pm for us. Not saying this in a snotty way but I have dined at many lovely restaurants all over the world and never have I been looked at in such a way. Tuck us outside in a corner if we aren’t youthful and glammed up enough for your taste. Sorry, but so rude.

The service was good. The only word I have to describe the food is ok. There was nothing necessarily bad about it, but nothing special either. Little flavor in each dish. Of three dishes ordered all were quite bland. I suggest trying one of the many other Italian restaurants in the city. Also quite expensive for what this was.

My husband & I had a lovely dinner here the other night. I made the rez online and requested an outdoor table in their lovely covered area along Madison Ave. When we arrived, we were seated right away. Our waiter, Martin, was great and really added to our amazing dining experience. He is professional, personable, and was on top of everything throughout our 4 courses and 2 rounds of drinks. The drinks were great and each dish was exceptional! We started with 2 apps, the short ribs & octopus, then had the duck ravioli, entrees, black cod and the veal, and ended with the apple dessert and I had an espresso martini. Everything was delicious, flavorful, and melted in our mouths. We ate and drank plenty and our over $400 (including tip) bill was worth every penny! I HIGHLY recommend a fabulous dining experience here!!!

My significant other and I went to Scarpetta on 2/12/2023 for their Valentine's Day-themed brunch. The experience was wonderful! As soon as we entered and registered with the front desk, our coats were taken and empty decorative boxes were given to each of us. As we entered the lounge area there was a chocolate display that I used to fill up the boxes. The chocolate was high quality. Crisp exterior with a warm, smooth center that melted in your mouth. In the lounge area, there was also a bar that offered bottomless mimosas, wine, and beer. I only tried the mimosas. There were four options and you could not go wrong with any of them. My partner and I chatted over drinks by the bar and others did the same until the dining room was ready. Once the dining room was ready, each couple is assigned a specific table. The room was beautifully decorated with light and bright colors. There was even a live band playing romantic salsa while everyone ate. Servers served us bread with condiments to start. Thereafter we were given a salad and then French toast as an appetizers. For the entree, we were given spaghetti with more bread, and for dessert, we were given a version of a chocolate mouse. Though the ambiance was more than I expected, the food options were not. I wish there were more options in terms of being able to pick your own appetizer, plate, and dessert. I also remained hungry after eating. The portions were very small, especially given that my partner and I had to share each plate. Despite the food choices and small servings, the servers and even the manager were very friendly, attentive, and professional. All in all 4/5! The Valentine's Day Brunch has great potential.

From start to finish, the service and attention to detail was amazing! And the food is absolutely delicious. The flavors and quality is well balanced. A must try and on the keep list!

The bread bowl that comes with the meal is in incredible. The spaghetti was some of the best we have ever had. A little pricey but worth a visit.

Scarpetta was extremely noisy from the moment we walked in to the time we left. Service was fair. Food was very good. Prices were very high, especially the wine mark up.

Was in NYC for a business dinner with new colleagues, who took me to this spot. Evidently, the owner is a judge on some cooking game show. Not sure what I did to deserve this, but the food was, well, wanting me to try The Olive Garden. And I've refused to try it. Had the cauliflower romanesco, entree that was was formulated with gag-inducing levels of undercooked garlic. Dared try the duck/foie gras ravioli for main course, and maybe because I'm spoiled by living in Paris, but this tasted like it was created and/prepared by an intern. I learned my lesson and declined the dessert. The okay service, tasty wine salvaged a one-start review. Take me back to L'Artusi!

The design and decor of this restaurant is great. It's a very attractive place with well dressed, attractive clientele. It looks like it has a good after work bar scene. The food was good but not outstanding. The portions are small and the prices are very expensive. I had the black cod, which was good. We also had a beet salad, very good. The tagliatelle $30 was OK, nothing special with their cream sauce and the portion was tiny. The service was OK. I personally don't like to listen to long winded recommendations by the waiter. I really doubt the guy has tried all the items on the menu. I think it is just a marketing idea. I hate being marketed to. If I want a recommendation, I'll ask for one. The worst thing about the place is its ridiculous wine list. There are hardly any bottle under $100 and they go up to more than $500. The cheapest wine by the glass is $21. That's an $84 bottle of wine. I recognized very few of the vintners from CA and nothing from Bordeaux. That's probably a reflection of my wine knowledge. There was a sommelier but we blew him off due to the prices. I had a beer. I would not go back to this restaurant next time I am in town. Obviously others liked it very much. You won't get a bad meal there. Just be prepared for a very expensive dinner.

Outstanding italian. There must be a God for we were in Heaven. Could not find fault in any of the courses. Let me summarise with a question...How can anyone make just carrots taste that good that you want seconds?

I dined a couple of times here and the service was very good. The food is good but limited to pasta for vegetations. However I went to have lunch and the waiter took our order. I ordered a salad after and was told that the chef said that he already clean and close his kitchen and cannot take the order and therefore I cannot get anything from the kitchen. Very disappointing to me as I was still in the restaurant. Maybe they should stop letting customers into the restaurant at 1:30pm so the chef will have enough time to service who are there until they close at 2:30pm. I am sure if I had ordered from the hotel room my order would have been delivered at my door.

Each of the last three or four times we have been to Scarpetta (for the world class spaghetti), the experience has been tarnished immediately upon arrival. My wife and I (always well-dressed) are directed to a poor table (small, in the middle of a banquette, etc.) when far better tables for two are unoccupied. When we ask to be seated at one of the better tables, we are instantly told, without any investigation by the hostess, that those tables have been reserved. When I inquire about the method of reserving a specific table so that I can do so next time, there is no meaningful response and a lot of annoyed indignation that I would dare to ask. (Clearly, there is no such procedure.) Most recently, the hostess just turned on her heels when we declined her selected table, so we sat down where we wished and waited to see whether attempts would be made to evict us. I understand the urge in places like New York (I’ve lived here for 27 years) to preserve the better tables in case someone recognizable who is likely to order expensive wines from the over-priced wine list walks in. Call me old-fashioned, but I think a restaurant open to the public should provide a more egalitarian experience. After we were seated, the service was atrocious. The appetizer was delivered one minute after the bread, and placed in front of my wife’s empty chair as she had gone to the restroom when the bread was delivered. The main course was delivered as soon as the appetizer was removed; we objected to the waitress, who told us “you don’t need to eat it if you aren’t ready” (apparently, there either is no training in spacing courses or she chose to ignore it) and rudely instructed the bus boy to “take it away” as she turned on her heels and walked off. The clear intent was to regain our table as fast as possible. This combination of events led to a discussion with a very polite and sympathetic manager. The problem: he lacked credibility, as much of this behavior (apart from the gratuitous rudeness), as systemic as it is, is obviously ordered from the top. Despite the manager seemingly providing direct supervision of our service, our waitress did not appear with our check for about 20 minutes after we requested it of the assistant manager who seemed to be watching our table. So, is the world’s best spaghetti worth this ordeal? I’m increasingly coming to the answer: No.

I've had Scarpetta's killer pastas elsewhere. Stopped for a glass of red and a cocktail while staying in the hotel.

Very nice Italian restaurant. Charming milieu, excellent menu and there seemed to be lots of locals. We - party of three - all had different first courses, main courses and desserts. All were good. My Wagy stake was cooked perfectly and was really good. We had also some Proseccos and one glass of red wine and cocktails. Cost us around USD 400. I would go there again.

We had dinner reservation but found ourselves in the area late afternoon. As luck would have it they were still serving lunch and were given a great booth. This time of day it was slow. We were happy because it was obvious this place gets tight. The food was great. There salads were a perfect combination nothing overdone with the dressing. Bread basket had many choices. There homemade pasta is everything the reviews say it is. There fish was lightly done to perfection

the restaurant organizes its space very nicely, the food was really delicious and was served in a really nice way. the service was great and we enjoyed the evening and the meal. we ate a lot of dishes and they were all really special and good

Had a breakfasts a few mornings while staying at NoMad. The food is good, the service varies. On Sunday morning we waited some 10 min to be asked how many people we were, the another 10 to get a menu... The other day all worked fine.

Stopped in a bit early to check out the bar. Excellent bartenders . Ambiance really beautiful . Large tables and on point staff . Never empty water , or wine glass . Craig our server was amazing . Delicious food and service extraordinarily good. Great spot !

The restaurant is beautiful and the service is very good. We felt that the portion sizes, particularly of the appetizers, were really way too small. That said everything we ate was delicious with great flavors.

Crowded, a tad noisy, lots of “energy” - and delicious food. We tried to get the music lowered, but they want “energy”. Anyway, scallops and sushi to start and then polenta and wagyu steak — all great. The budino and chocolate cake went fast.

We were sick of quick food so we’re looking for something a little more upmarket and this is about as upmarket as they get! We didn’t even know half of the items in the menu. Saying that the food and service was fabulous, without alcohol though our family of four cost $359usd.

So bad. Only thing worth eating is the $28 spaghetti, from a box, I’m sure. I make better pasta at home.

Scarpetta is a place of contrasts. On the culinary front, the experience was mixed. The food, while good, didn't quite reach the heights of excellence I had hoped for. The dishes were well-prepared with decent flavors, but they lacked that special something that sets them apart from the competition. Scarpetta is a go-to spot for the ambiance, but the food left me craving a bit more. Whether it's for a cocktail night or another meal, I'll be back to soak in the delightful interior.

This is a great restaurant. In contrast to a couple of recent reviews on my screen as I type this - I don't quite get the 'pasta for vegetarians' comment when there are clearly several vegetarian and meat options (I am not a vegetarian) - and the dining experience and staff are fabulous. This restaurant to me sums up what a good restaurant should be. It is busy, buzzy but has great warm staff and fabulous food. As an example of their service, it was my birthday (which I didn't make any kind of fuss about) yet they offered us both a free glass of champagne - not prosecco - champagne. We have been coming here for a while, since before it moved to its current location. The food has always been great. I have been to a lot of Italian restaurants, including several Michelin starred restaurants in places like Positano, yet nowhere I have been too has better pasta that Scarpetta. The bone marrow pasta, for instance, is devine. The sweets are also excellent. We came three time and worked our way through them. All were delicious. The wine is also good, as is the Champagne (and the prosecco). Just a great restaurant, with great food and staff. It is our favourite in New York

Scarpetta is a sophisticated Italian restaurant with a really interesting menu and a solid wine list. I had their lunch pre fix which I think is great value even though the portion of yellowfin tuna (appetizer) is a little too small but they compensate that with a beautiful bread selection served with sides of butter, extra virgin olive oil and melanzane (good start!). The main course was an excellent branzino fillet, great quality and excellent execution. You will end up your meal with nice biscotti and coffee or tea. The service was poised, profesional but at the same time approachable. Good job in general, Recomendable!

The location is ot of the way, and after a long day walking we weren't sure it was worth it. The wine selection was excellent and the sommelier was knowledgeable. The service was terrific with plenty of time to peruse, chat, relax, and enjoy. My son had the duck ravioli and I thr cheese. Both were incredible. Absolutely wonderful food. Expensive, but worth the money.

Just read the latest review where the reviewer was upset that her water glass was being refiled and that they were taking away plates so the next course if appropriate could be served. And she rated that as bad service, yikes. We just ate there, service was excellent and as described, but after they removed something they were not trying to remove us. We had Diver scallops, outstanding Veal and the signature spaggetti and it was all outstanding. We live in a touristry area in CA and can tell you their pricing is not high, its consistent with good quality food delivered by an excellent staff at very fair pricing.

This is our trip - to our favorite Italian restaurant in the neighborhood. Great atmosphere, entertaining staff and quality, great food. It's crowded here, but unlike many famous Italian restaurants in the area, they don't let people in, though they can explore more tables. Great place for fun atmosphere and delicious food.

My family and I had the most incredible meal here! The atmosphere is fun/trendy. We ordered the truffle polenta, Cacio e Pepe artichokes, spaghetti, and banana bread dessert. Drinks also were spectacular. The food was all absolutely delicious. Even the bread basket was amazing! Including pieces of salami Stromboli and sides of eggplant caponata and mascarpone. My husband said the banana bread dessert was the best thing he ate on our trip to NYC! The truffle polenta was my favorite. The restaurant was even very catering to my small children. It is definitely more of an upscale/adult dining vibe, however our server Manolo was so attentive and kind to our 2 small children, and also brought out a candle on the dessert for my 7 year olds birthday. The service was fantastic and I’m still thinking about the delicious food.

We celebrated our 27th anniversary here and Alex was our server. He's amazing! We love to go to a restaurant and let the server pick our meals and Alex was excited and did not disappoint. He started us with the burrata and charred broccolini, moved us onto a pappardelle with braised lamb, then onto a porcini encrusted halibut and Muscovy duck that had the most incredible flavors! The sommelier helped with an amazing wine. The service at this place is unbelievable. I have never seen a sommelier grab a plate on the way back to the kitchen, but I saw it last night. Constant checking in and just the right touch. Thank you Scarpetta for another world class experience!

Come for the great Italian food, seafood is fantastic but you MUST order the spaghetti...it is incredible.

My husband and I had dinner at Scarpetta with friends while visiting NYC the week before Christmas. It is a lovely restaurant. The service was wonderful. Very attentive from the moment we sat down. The bread and toppings were so good. The bread with salami and mozzarella cheese was SO good! I had the homemade pasta with bits of lobster and it was great. ( I cannot remember the actual name of the dish. ) my husband had the spaghetti ( which they are known for) and it was very good. We enjoyed a fun evening and delicious dinner in a beautiful restaurant.

We had an early dinner before going to opera here. I really enjoyed the atmosphère and food in this restaurant. The octopus and scallops for starters were amazing, so as halibut and pasta with duck and fois gras. They have suite extensive list of wines, so you can find the one that fits your budget and taste. The service is the only thing that makes you cringe: - they made us wait at the bar for everyone to arrive even though the restaurant was empty - they made us pay separately for the bar as its just convenient for them - the hostess was borderline impolite and snorty, just unacceptable attitude when you work with customers

We have been going to Scarpetta since the first day the first one opened on 14th Street in NYC’s Meatpacking District and since then to their new spot on Madison Avenue as well as Montauk, South Beach, and Las Vegas. The combination of consistently amazing cuisine, amazing staff, amazing management, and amazing vibe/ambience makes Scarpetta our favorite restaurant hands down. Kudos also to LDV Hospitality who took over from Scott Conant and never skipped a beat. We strongly and frequently recommend to family, friends and business associates who all share our sentiments. Bottom line...Scarpetta is intergalactic karma and strongly recommended to anyone visiting a city where they have a spot!!

We had a really good Nebbiolo recommended by our very able waiter. My spaghetti and basil was fresh and subtly threaded with tomato . Loved it. My friend had the caveletti ( not sure of the spelling, sorry!) with goat cheese and young goat. It had a different consistency and was delicious. we ended with the Mont Blanc dessert and our waiter suggested it would go well with the strawberries with a light granita. Spot on again. Nice atmosphere too in the beautiful James hotel building. ( weird situation though with the restrooms. You feel like a rat in a maize trying to find it.. The restaurant itself gave us a flawless meal in no small part because of the recommendations of our extremely good waiter.

Modern and obviously trendy restaurant. Bread was forgotten. Both starter salads (beetroot and chicory) were decent. However, the chicory salad consisted mostly of radicchio. I didn't see the promised pistachios in the beetroot salad. Instead, I had the impression that grated parmesan (or something similar) from the bag was used. I could be wrong, of course. The highlight of the evening was the very tasty sea bass (GRILLED BRANZINO). For $42 you get a single fillet with no other side dishes! That's ridiculous. The good caper sauce doesn't help either. We were at 63 Clinton (1 Michelin star) yesterday and paid $112 per person for a 7-course meal. Black pasta with lobster was good. The second wine was poured into the same glass. A fresh glass must always be served.

We had a wonderful meal at Scarpetta! From the yellowfin appetizer to the Many desserts, all were amazing. The Halibut was perfection. A great ending to a fun weekend in NY. The Scarpetta in Montauk is also fantastic!

Visited this restaurant during a business trip to NYC as it was around the corner. Since I went early evening, it was very easy to get a table. All staff are very friendly. The bred with chese and Parma ham was delicious. Never eaten anything like that before. And the little dips came with it was very good. Not everyone can cook aubergine to perfection. The pasta was very nice too. Small for a main dish but filling. It is pricey for the food but when you add the very good service, it was worth it. Would recommend.

This place is amazing! The saving Grace for The James Hotel at the Nomad! The pasta was amazing, I had the lobster tagliolini and my 6 yr old had the PAPPARDELLE and my husband had the veal! Everything exceeded our expectations! Our server was so good!!! She was constantly there to refill our wine! We totally splurged with 2 bottles of wine that was so so good! We ordered the Sangiovese! Amazing restaurant!

What a place to have a Christmas dinner with the family! Ambiance was perfection, our table staff was amazing and the food was exactly as we'd all hoped it would be! Cocktails are classically prepared, and the location was perfect from our hotel on 27th. And to have the options of choosing from the full menu instead of an overpriced prix fixe selection felt like a personal gift in itself! Kudos to the entire staff for sacrificing your Christmas night with your own families so that we could have a beautiful time with ours!

Food is absolutely amazing and the atmosphere is great. Service with a smile and a great wine selection.

Everyone in our party of 5 enjoyed the meal, service, and atmosphere. We went for brunch and the music was excellent. I got the spaghetti and it was the best I have ever had. Dessert are also excellent. Recommend the twice baked lemon cake.

In my neighborhood, delicious food, sophisticated ambiance, excellent service Couldn’t recommend more

The food was truly outstanding. I started with the grilled mushroom appetizer which was perfectly cooked and delicious. As my main course I had the squid ink pasta with lobster which terrific, my wife had the chicken as her main course and said with delight that it was probably the best chicken dish she had ever eaten in a restaurant. My Panacotta dessert was superb. The waitress Meagan was delightful and the Maitre d made the evening really special. The bread and rolls are exceptional

Excellent bridging on exceptional cuisine accompanied by relatively middling servicing amidst a bustling energetic environment. With respect to appetizers, both the truffled “tuna sushi” and hamachi yellowtail crudi are not to be missed, while the sampled pastas were cooked to perfection and the “espresso budino” completed the memorable culinary experience with a bang.

Wonderful fresh flavors, great service. You can't go wrong with any dish, although the hand-made pasta is a must and at least try something from the crudo bar, if not the tasting menu! Highly recommend as a neighborhood gem. Genuine, warm and friendly service with a smile is also appreciated in a city (NYC) where it is becoming such a rare occurrence. You'll love it!

We were in New York for my wife's 50th birthday and visited here. The sommelier helped us pick a full Amarone that was wonderful. Our server, Nes, was fun and knowledgeable. We asked him to pick our courses for us and he did not disappoint. He brought out an amazing selection of his favorite dishes, from the tuna appetizer to the veal and pork tenderloin entrees. The flavors were perfect. The service in this restaurant is impeccable. Nelson was just great and at every turn someone was pouring water and clearing plates. I highly recommend this spot!

Extraordinary place. Great atmosphere, impeccable service and the best cuisine. In particular I recommend the octopuses that are spectacular and of the pastas without doubt the best, and for which I will return, are the ravioli cacio e pepe. DELIGHT A surprise grab discover this restaurant located in madison

Scott Conan's love of hand made pasta shines through here. They only offer 4 pasta selections because they make it fresh! Waite staff was phenomenal and just because we had to wait 6 minutes for our reservations - the maitre d' brought our party of 4 a free round of Champagne !! Thank you for a great night!

The food is very good (but aren't all Italian restaurants good in NYC?) but the place is very noisy and cramped. Make sure you like the people sitting at the table next to you because they are right there so close to you. The service is good once you are past the front desk person.

Tourist trap- I guess it depends on the level of food you are used to. We got the octopus appetizer, and short rib ; not much flavor. Entree, my husband got lamb pasta, it was so sweet, they add sugar to their food. I got Branzino , it was good I would never recommend this place.

We had a wonderful evening at Scarpetta! We’d been to the one n Newport and loved it; Manhattan was equally yummy! Great food and wine; loved the atmosphere.

We were a group of six and were squashed into a back corner but the food and hospitality were good. The veal, pasta and salads were enjoyed by all. Bring your own wine.

Perfect night in January. We both decided on this place for their fresh pasta. We decided on spaghetti and it was fabulous. The place inside James hotel is very quaint. Loved the decor not bad prices I will definitely be back.

This is the place! Great service great food great atmosphere. High end NY style place. Also the club at The James is amazing.

One of our favorite restaurants when visiting New York. The space is beautiful, the staff is excellent and the food is always delicious.

Went to this restaurant for a business dinner. There’s a good choice of antipasti and wines. The quality of the food is very high but the portions are a little bit small. Dessert really tasty! Not sure why spaghetti are listed as “secondo”. In general: good.

Very long wait(more than 30 minutes), super crowded, very loud and overpriced. I went with my family and not worthy. They don’t care about their customers

With such wonderful food and attractive restaurant it is a shame that the service is so poor. Our waitress couldn’t be bothered to pour our wine and tried to avoid coming to our table. The only time she smiled was when she handed us the check. Truly a shame as my first experience at Scarpetta was excellent and this was such a marked difference. It will be a while before I come back. I expect much more from a quality restaurant.

Outstanding food and service. Was expensive but worth it for a special occasion. The place is a great night out and portions are on point.

Delicious and stylish. Food was well done with rustic recipes on elegant presentation. Worth a visit whether business or pleasure

We stayed at The James Hotel next door and so had breakfast and a dinner here. Food on Both occasions was excellent. Service was a little slow when they were busy at night time but clearly a popular bar scene with locals. Very extensive wine list. Would definitely return.

I love this place! The environment, the food, the decoration, the waitress very friendly, I can’t wait to come back, The restroom very hard to find but you will be ok, hehe

Modestly disappointed. Expensive wine list with little age. Some dishes were fantastic, others mediocre.

This was our second visit to Scarpetta, having visited on our last trip to NYC in 2014. The restaurant has since moved to a new, much larger location and has a busier, nosier feel. The food was just as good as we remembered, and we would still recommend the signature ravioli. Service was good and attentive, although the whole affair felt a little rushed. This may have been because we were there during 'Restaurant Week'. However, as we weren't taking advantage of the prix fix menu but had come for a longer, relaxed dinner it did feel like we were hurried through, which was disappointing.

Worth every penny. Not to miss the braised octopus. Chicken was delicious. We were five for lunch. All were super satisfied. Try the espresso...plate for dessert .. . Will come back sure to taste what we missed from the carte.

I am a person who loves excellent food and polite, friendly service. Doesn’t everyone out for a special occasion want that? I eat out frequently, and nearly every single time, am extremely happy with the experience. Last evening, my sister and I took a special lady out for a Big Birthday, thinking Scarpetta would be a great choice. We were wrong! From the moment we sat down, we knew we would be rushed. Our reservation was on an ordinary Tuesday evening- not a big night! Food came out of the kitchen much more quickly than one can savor and enjoy it. This was after we expressed with concern that we hoped we wouldn’t be “rushed” out the door. We were assured this would not happen. Unfortunately, this is exactly what happened. Wait staff hovered to clear our plates, we were not even asked if we would like coffee or tea. Dessert was quickly and ashamedly dropped on the table with the check directly after. Our wine glasses remained unfinished as the petite pony-tailed Brian ( a manager with an attitude) stood close by with a pursed and irritated stance that seemed to say, “leave —- I want to turn this table over—— maybe to an unsavory celebrity lawyer.” Is that money more valuable than ours? We didn’t get any candles, no plate wishes— just a boot out the door. We won’t be coming back, nor will my brother- in -law— who recommended us- and eats there twice a week. I don’t think that will be the case anymore. More than disappointing! Thank goodness for the gracious hostess and hard-working wait staff! How can they tolerate such rude managers? Don’t eat here unless you want to be rushed out practically before finishing your meal.

The food gets a 5 star rating from me. The pastas are really spectacular: yes, best spaghetti I have ever had in my life. Yellowtail crudo was delicious, beet salad was a very pleasant and tasty surprise, and desserts were yummy. Excellent presentation. The service was poor, though. Had to get up and talk to the maitre'd once and flag another waiter at another point to get service. That's not good, especially at an upscale restaurant such as this one, and it was not full!

Brad made our evening 5 stars with his amazing charm and excellent service. I will return based on him and the excellent food....I’m returning actually May 3 for my year anniversary of giving birth 😛

We had an absolutely fantastical dinner at Scarpetta just over a week ago... I can still taste the cacio e pepe ravioli, the very simple but astonishingly delicious spaghetti with tomato. And that's not even thinking about the risotto or the duck or the halibut... and can't forget the espresso budino dessert (along with everything else we had!). So, the food was good.... and the serve - also as good as one could expect! I reached out when making the reservation asking if we could have a sampling menu - my wife's birthday and our 2 daughters were visiting from CA and MA; my wife doesn't eat shellfish or meat, but we wanted to experience as much of the menu as possible. The somellier visited several times to discuss potential wine choices (we passed as we don't drink wine), and the maitre d' came by to discuss our menu options - he put together the sampler as noted above. Water was readily replenished, he came by to chat several times, we had a great experience. I can't stop about the pasta - Spent considerable time in Rome and had found an unforgettable pasta place - that has been the benchmark in our family's mind for pasta for several years - Scarpetta pasta (spaghetti and ravioli) have set the new benchmark - entire family agrees with this - expectations for what makes a pasta great have been very high, and Scarpetta definitely met expectations (if not set a new benchmark!). We highly recommend Scarpetta; just wish it was closer to our home (in central NJ); too far away to go for an unplanned "Wednesday evening dinner". Which in some ways, is probably a good thing! :)

We love Scarpetta! We used to dine at the Meatpacking location years ago, but hadn't been to the Madison location since it opened, and we are glad we did. We love the space, it is spacious yet intimate with a large bar area (we love to eat at bars instead of tables). The people, as always, are super friendly and nice and the food, as always, is great. We enjoyed the spaghetti - I know it sounds almost too basic but it is done to perfection! We also really liked the polenta with mushrooms and (I guess we were in a funghi mood) the mushrooms with tomato glaze & parmigiano. Especially now that we stay close by when we visit nyc we will come back everytime. Go!

Went to dinner here a few nights ago and we had an amazing experience! The employees were so sweet and provided amazing service. Food was delicious as well, definitely recommend the spaghetti and lobster!!

My family and I ate at Scarpetta for Thanksgiving dinner. Everything was delicious, from the crudo appetizer, short rib agnelloti to the branzino. Dessert was a delicious thin apple tart. The servers were very attentive and took special care of my daughter who has both a gluten and nut allergy. Cheers to this special place, we hope to be back.

This is the third time in a period of three months that we visit Scarpetta. We had a better experience the last two times but tonight it felt like the wsiter had no interest in taking our order. We finally ordered three courses. In my case, the charred octopus was very good but the second and third courses were a complete disaster! The Tagliolini Nero was a spicy pasta with and ugly presentation and no flavor at all. The mini pieces of lobster were dry and seemed that they were leftovers. Then came the Halibut as dry as a piece of paper with a lot of olive oil on top. When the waiter saw my plate with the almost untouched pasta he asked if I liked it. I said no and he replied “I told you it was a little soicy”. A “little” was a complete understatement. After a $350.00 check for a meal I couldn’t eat or enjoy I have No interest in comming back!

This is our go-to favorite Italian restaurant in the neighborhood. Great atmosphere, entertaining and quality waiters, terrific food. It's aways crowded, but unlike many popular Italian restaurants in the area, they don't shoehorn people in, even though they could prob add more tables. Excellent place for fun atmosphere and good food.

We ordered 5 dishes, including their so called famous spaghetti. It was mediocre at best. Their overall dishes were average- DEFINITELY NOT worth their high prices. Worst part was their service- snobs. One of the managers (black suit) was so condescending. When asked about the menu, he responded with such disdain. If you don’t want to pay high prices for mediocre food and receive poor treatment, STAY AWAY!!

Had dinner with friends here. A very happening place and crowded. Can be loud and noisy. We shared a number of dishes that were all delicious. Pasta was great as was the polenta with mushrooms. Service was good but I ordered a glass of Sancerre and waiter brought a Sauvignon blanc and he said it was the same thing. A little attitude here. Nice time

Scarpetta constantly delivers - food, service and ambiance. Great appetizers, pastas and main dishes. Bravo!

This restaurant is a decent one for business dinners and we happened to stay at the hotel upstairs. Reservation was smooth and food always great

The food is excellent, with a good selection on the menu. The decor is nice, service is attentive. The prices are quite high, and the space is crowded. Three of us were seated at a table that could comfortably hold two, in my opinion. We had an enjoyable meal that everyone enjoyed, even if we were in tight quarters.

Very buzzy and packed It is definitely a place to be seen but the food was very mediocre to say the least A lot of management floating about and a very NY buzz but that’s about all Large price tag for at best mediocrity They clearly have the winning formula as it was full, can’t understand why though. Our server was lovely

Everything about this restaurant was amazing, the food, the service, the ambiance, everything was perfect.

In a beautiful building in the neighborhood, beautiful place and very good cuisine. Like all New York restaurants, very dim lights which make reading the menus difficult and an atmosphere always a little noisy because the Americans speak loudly….. Very beautiful room, impeccable service and very good cuisine

This restaurant is very nice romantic setting but when being seated the tables were quite close together and there is nothing worse than having a. Someone else listen to your conversation or b. Have to listen to your neighbors conversation. The staff were very friendly and nod person was very helpful when we asked about the type of flower on table. The music playing was out of place and too loud for what I thought was a classy Italian Restaurant. The meat portion of entree was very good, however, the vegetables were not as anticipated and defiantly not as tasty as we hoped.

Our experience was AWESOME!! FOOD was incredible and the STAFF was KNOWLEDGEABLE and FRIENDLY. For the Chocolate lover "the Varhona Chocolate Cake" is AMAZING......

Delicious food and good service. Our waiter - Filip was great, he was friendly but not overbearing, which we appreciated. Highly recommend for the delicious food, good service and the seating space is nice. I had the Lobster Tagliolini Nero pasta and my sister had ravioli. Both were delicious but the ravioli was definitely much smaller than my dish. I would recommend ordering a starter if you’re quite hungry because the main dishes are not very large.

The service was superb in a lovely setting. All the dishes we had- with handmade pasta - were very good-BUT very small portions for the upscale price. Example $28 for small spaghetti plate. Wine glass prices are much higher than most similar level restaurants also.

The ambience was spectacular- the service was great and the food was delicious though smaller servings ! Great experience - thank you

Great food and wine but pricey and ambiance is not special. You cannot really have a quite conversation especially if it is jampack. We attended a family celebration in a private function room so we are a little isolated from the main crowd. They had a set menu and from the starters to entre to dessert we food were fabulous and mouth watering.

Food was excellent! Business/client dinner for 7 of us.. the quality of service was above reproach.. Craig the waiter was so professionally fun and witty, no pretense here!.. and serving assistants were awesome ant manicuring and resetting the table between courses. Best Biz dinner I've had in NYC.. Thanks Craig & team for making our evening great!

Scarpetta is a popular upscale Italian restaurant that moved uptown. It's very busy - but the service was attentive. The menu is limited but everything we tried was excellent. They have limited selections of bottled beer - but an extensive (and expensive) wine list - but very good. We split a pasta dish for an appetizer- very good. And we both had fish dishes for an entrée - excellent. Overall it was great - but expensive.

We visited Scarpetta during restaurant week by chance not on purpose so we had a preset menu. All of the items my wife and I had were very good; the basil pasta a signature dish I guess. I had a very delicious crudo to start the meal. I would eat here again but not go out of my way just to try it. We just happened to be staying near by and were happy with the quality of the food for just stumbling onto it.

Very nice shop. It's worth visiting. Nice atmosphere, the staff is kind and knowledgeable about the menu options. Handmade pasta......very nice flavors.

My wife and I tried Scarpetta last weekend. The ambiance, service, bread, drinks, food, and dessert were just aces. Two person teams bring out your dishes. The wine selection is huge as well. I had the inked pasta and lobster and my wife had a halibut dish. Everything was just excellent and we will definitely return!

We had a lovely dinner at this very busy and popular Italian in NoMad. We really liked the hot bread with mascarpone and other good things followed by an awesome tender octopus as a starter and snapper and cod for our main courses. Everything was nicely presented and cooked to perfection. Very nice done. Excellent wine list with a decent listing of wines by the glass. Service was very kind and efficient.

The food is fine, but patrons need to be warned that the restaurant is painfully noisy. Conversations were difficult to impossible with the loud music and the patrons needing to speak loudly in order to be heard over the assault. The noise was so disturbing that one of our party needed to leave while we were having our drinks. I seriously fault the restaurant as, when placing the reservation through Open Table, I noted "quiet table" under "special instructions". They are surely aware that there is no such thing as a quiet table and they should have responded to me with that information. They dont need my business, they were packed with patrons who did not mind the noise level so they really should have notified me in response to my "quiet table" request. In short, the evening was a disaster.

Unfortunately we had an awful experience at this establishment. So looking forward to this meal but.. pasta served cold, veal ordered medium served rare even after sending it back . Management graciously brought us dessert but when you can’t eat your dinner and pay through the nose and you can’t eat it….. not a great experience. Wouldn’t recommend this place. AVOID!!!

Went here for wife’s birthday. I told server it was her birthday to please make sure they did something for desert. The waiter was very blasé and seemed disinterested . We had ordered two halibuts and they only brought one thinking for some reason we were going to share Pretty sure waiter wrote it up wrong . At that point we just split it After never offering coffee and just brought check Had to complain to host they never brought a birthday desert and about the half meal. Said he was sorry and would bring out some deserts even though we had the bill. The snarky waiter said even though you didn’t order desert we brought u something . Thanks,it was strawberries with a basil granita no cake no candle Yea because you messed up. Never apologized The food was excellent. The fish and polenta and gluten free pasta were great Food 8 circuses 4 Not the birthday dinner we expected !

Despite spending $150 per ticket on a TOCK Vinvivo World of Wine Event and contacting the event coordinator earlier in the week to request a change to a later event date, Scarpetta would not allow for any changes and we lost our payment. Avoid these events and the restaurant. They are not customer service oriented.

Trendy scene, food is great, everyone is dressed nicely and they have a great bar right downstairs so you can grab drinks before or after dinner. Whenever I go, I always get the spaghetti which is outstanding! Love this place. @traveleen_gurl

Where do I start. Firstly, this is one of the those places where it seems a reservation time is only ever approximate and you will in practice wait until they find you a table. We arrived a little early to be told it would be a short wait, which then became a longer wait and finally an even longer wait, it was 35 minutes after our reservation that they finally found us a table. Secondly, be prepared for a chaotic feel, largely as there will be so many people milling around waiting for their tables, just getting to the front desk was a challenge. The front of house team are incredibly polished and very skilled at saying nothing and avoiding any commitment over your table, whilst they try to (excuse the pun) keep the plates spinning. Great to be directed to the bar, but when the bar and every square inch of the front of house area are full, it doesn’t really help, even if it comes with a smile. The menu is what I’d describe as Italian high class bistro, no pizza here but finessed pasta, fish and meat options. It has a really buzzy atmosphere and was filled with noisy conversation and chatter. Service, once beyond the glitz and vagueness of the front desk, was really good.. fast, friendly, attentive. Food portions are small, but the dishes were presented beautifully and the food was very tasty. Overall, notwithstanding the wait, it was good. But here’s the thing, I prefer restaurants that do a great job but are humble and/or don’t realise how great they are. When it’s the other way round, i.e they think they are better than they really are, it just feels pretentious. A lot to be liked here, but they need to sort the front of house and remove the ambiguity. As a customer, I’d much rather hear that I’m likely to have a 30 minute wait, than to go though a silly ritual of pretending that it’s almost ready a handful of times.

The 15 minute experience at the host stand was nothing less than hideous. For a restaurant of Scarpetta's caliber to have an obnoxious, rude, ill mannered and unprofessional host as the first impression of the business is an embarrassment to the restaurant; my Mother likened him to a spoiled, 15 year old boy. In addition, there were two females at the host stand who were completely useless-bored, uninvolved bodies. I had made a reservation a month in advance for my Mother's 70th birthday celebration in addition to 2 other holiday dinner reservations. I had called multiple times to confirm this reservation as it was for an important occasion and I wanted to ensure that we would have an outside table and the birthday was noted in the reservation. Most recent confirmation was a day prior to the dinner. I made many calls because the restaurant couldn't confirm outside dining and only put a request for preferred. This is an unacceptable rule in the midst of a pandemic when every other restaurant has been accommodating. That said, my Mom wanted to celebrate her birthday at Scarpetta so I was diligent to confirm the request via phone as well as in writing via Instagram dm. I was told the restaurant would do what they could and with an early reser, I felt good with that. Upon arrival,, the host didn't have the reservation in the system. I repeatedly tried to show him the reservation in my phone as well as explained the Instagram written confirmation as well as the multiple phone calls. I was speaking calmly, explaining it was my mom's big bday and looking at multiple empty tables, But, the host from the first moment kept interrupting me and cutting me off. Legitimately wouldn't let me speak. I asked him politely to let me finish and when I finally showed him the reser on my phone for 12/12, he said, no that's 12/13. The date clearly said 12/12!? The 15 min back and forth was fruitless as again the pathetic host was not hospitable, wouldn't listen, was beyond nasty and wouldn't accommodate us. Essentially he called me a liar as I had written, electronic reservation, plus spoke of my many calls- he refused to acknowledge. Your inability to use the reservation system or a glitch in the system is not my problem!! I'd like to thank the host for sending us on our way as my friend who dined at the restaurant the night prior let me know what an awful experience she had including terrible service and cold food. We left and went downtown to Lafayette and had a 10.0 dinner with fantastic service, food and a beautiful environment. I've dined at Scarpetta likely 50 times with, family, friends and mostly for business. I will never return and promise to spread the word.

They do not respect the booking time and they make you wait in the middle of the corridor for a while. They do not care if you have to wait

Super pasta, fish and desserts! Impeccable service, good atmosphere, accessible, beautiful building, excellent dinner and waiters attention

I have dined at this restaurant on more than one occasion. Therefore, I'm surprised I haven't written a review thus far. Anyway, I started off with the seared scallops and asparagus. Both absolutely delicious. I mean, it is simple, but just right. The main course was pan-fried halibut, which was cooked to perfection; both tender and fresh. A bottle of pinot noir called 'Big Table Farm' was light enough to enjoy with this lovely white fish. The atmosphere was busy, even though Covid-19 restrictions are in place. Our server, Rachel, was efficient and polite. While this is an Italian restaurant, I simply adore the seafood, and fully recommend it.

Booked this restaurant last minute as wanted a good Italian nearby where we are having drinks. What a great choice - busy, vibrant and great food. The bar was packed with locals and tourists alike and had a great atmosphere. The restaurant area was a bit quieter but still busy and with the same vibrant atmosphere. The service was first class, friendly but professional and they dealt with an allergy situation very well with clear guidance on what we could order. All food was first class - carrot starter (much better than it sounds, calamari, monk fish, steak and pasta were all lovely. A good wine list too with plenty of choice and goos value. All in all a fantastic evening and we would definitely go back when next in NYC.

Spaghetti was average at best but the Short Rib pasta was OUTSTANDING!! The waiter found a reasonably priced Amarone wine to go with our meals and it was superb!

I love this place! I have a lot of allergies and every time that I go they are very attentive and take care of me. They always treat us great, the food is fantastic and it’s a great place to bring friends, family, or go on a date.

Food, ambiance, and service all very good. It was expensive for pasta dishes but four of us had different entrees and all were quite good. Restrooms were not conveniently located. Long walk through the hotel lobby to a lower level.

Our first visit, but surely not our last. Very nice decor, good vibe and the staff was great. Ben , at the bar, was a special treat. We sat at a booth for 2 which was ideal. While the crowd was mostly young, we felt right at home. Food was exceptional and our server was very nice. This is worth a try.

Had a great dinner at Scarpetta woth 2 collegues at the end of a long business day. 2 of us got there early and we weren't allowed to sit until the full party arrived. The team was not very welcoming or warm, didn't offer to sit at the bar and really there's not waiting area. The restrooms are also very far - almost like taking a really long tour of the building. When we finally sat, we realized that the tables are way too close. We felt like we literally joined the folks in the near by table. No other table was offered. It was pretty loud as well. So we had a bit of a hard time conversing. The service was great - professional and we loved the server's recommendations. The food was excellent yet pretty pricey. All in all - if you get a good table and no one is late - a nice dining option.

During our stay at "The New York Edition Hotel" on Madison Avenue at 24th Street in late March, 2019, we walked to Scarpetta Restaurant for dinner. The restaurant was filled with patrons in both bar area and dining area. The restaurant's ambiance was pleasant. When our pastas were placed on our table, they looked rather small portions in compressed form. But when we loosened them to eat, they turned into surprisingly generous portions. Spaghetti (tomato and basil) and Black Tagliolini (lobster, tomatoes, spiced basil bread crumbs) were superb. Veal Tenderloin was also very tasty. Other foods were very tasty as well. This restaurant is not in the middle of restaurant district or tourist area. But it is definitely worth visiting for excellent foods with pleasant ambience and efficient service. As for public transportion to this restaurant, subway line 6 (28th Street stop) or subway line R&W (28th Street stop) can be used. Buses running up Madison Avenue or buses running down 5th Avenue can be used, too. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

I have only been to this Scarpetta twice now and to the one in Las Vegas. I go strictly for the SPAGHETTI because it is sooooo divine. The pasta is fresh, homemade and cooked perfectly. The sauce is tangy, rich and full of fresh garlic, tomatoes and basil. It is absolutely INCREDIBLE and the presentation is lovely. The bread service is also divine - three different types of fresh breads - the BEST being the stromboli bread - filled with salami, tomatoes and smoked mozzarella - served warm. (My mouth is now watering typing this review.) I cannot wait to return next time in NYC or Vegas!

I had been here a few years ago and thought it was OK-I was wrong-horrible-noisy and uncomfortable-I ordered salad with chicken and the salad had sand in it-NOT sea salt. The coffee was cold and the bathroom is about a quarter mile from the restaurant. Overall-one to miss for sure. On the bright side-someone else paid for this lousy lunch.

My sister and I treated our mom to dinner here for her birthday (we were staying at The James Hotel, so chose this for convenience). Well, the meal was fantastic - we had the yellowtail crudo, grilled octopus and we each ordered the lobster tagliolini nero. Wow. Cocktails were also fabulous and our waiter knew his wine. Panna cotta and espresso budino were a great end to a memorable meal.

Wao. What a great experience at this place. If you are visiting NYC or a local it’s a most go restaurant. Ambiance sophisticated and fun. Food and service are outstanding. Very nice wine selection.

WE heard at the hotel that this was a pretty good restaurant.A little unsure at first. The bar is small and crowed, and it took a while to get served. We had dinner, (Halibut and Tagliatelle) and a couple of wins by the glass( rather expensive) but overall a good food experience. Our waiter , Bledar, was great, very attentive. We will be back

We visited for lunch on New Year's Eve so the place was getting ready for the party later that evening. Despite that, the service was very attentive. I saw on the menu "spaghetti with tomato and basil" and thought, but it's the only pasta! But I ordered it and am I glad I did! It was amazing... not like any you've had before, except maybe in Rome. It was delicious. We had a lovely salad to start and a fabulous budino for dessert. My husband really enjoyed the hanger steak. Will definitely go back next time in NYC

This has a fun lively atmosphere. The food, drinks and service is great. I got the gluton free pasta, which was yummy. Fun for large groups.

My partner and i visited Scarpetta in December, we were unable to get a reservation ahead of time so we decided to arrive promptly at 5pm (when they open) and we got a seat at the bar for dinner. We loooove eating at the bar when we go to restaurants, it's a great way to meet and interact the staff, as well as a great opportunity for people watching - there's always a good 'buzz' at a restaurant bar. Anyway, the three men behind the bar were fantastic, just lovely and so personable. Although this is a fine dining restaurant, we felt like comfortable regulars, and we were right at home. The food was nothing short of amazing - start to finish. We had a fabulous meal, we loved the atmosphere, and loved the service. We'll definitely be back!

I know it’s crowded but the food is great. Atmosphere classy but not overdone. Staff was great....helpful and friendly. We had a “top shelf” experience.

Food was delicious. Service impeccable. 5 waiters served our party of 8 people. Food came out very quickly and was hot and scrumptious. Ambiance was lovely. Upscale, but warm and very comfortable. Parking garage right next door if coming in from Long Island or New Jersey. All staff very attentive. I would highly recommend a visit. It’s worth the trip. We’re going back!

Service is impeccable, drinks are mixed with all fresh ingredients by a polite and experienced bartender, reasonable wait for our table and the food is a 10++!! Cool vibe, great decor. Expensive but you know that going in and it’s worth it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Really really really nice experience, the staff is wonderful, knowledgeable and make it all happen! Spaghetti al pomodoro e basilico don’t get any better and are clearly the oscar winner! The raw fish is outstanding especially the red shrimp carpaccio, one of my all time favorites, The wagyu strip was also exceptional. All in all fantastic atmosphere, great honest food, and exceptional service! Alessio the GM is on it! Well done.

Be careful if your thinking of going here for restaurant week! We went last night after a play and if everyone at the table doesn’t order the pre fixe meal no one can get the deal. Also, I felt like once they knew why we were there we received sub par attention. Our meals came out cold, we had to send back and the service was so slow ! They felt bad so they took $10.00 off one meal but I would warn everyone before you go!

Arrived earlier than the rest of my party. Asked the bartender (El?) for a refreshing cocktail and he created a beautiful rosemary delight. It was the perfect answer to a humid uncomfortable day. The lunch menu for restaurant week was limited but great. The polenta with mushroom was superb. I usually don’t order chicken at restaurants, but ordered here and was happily delighted by the dish. The restaurant itself is beautifully appointed, staff all attentive, cheerful and knowledgeable; a perfect spot. I will be back again and again.

Excellent! We sampled several things from the menu, from the yelllowtail, tuna, octopus, spaghetti (simple but delicious). Everything was fantastic. The cocktails were excellent , i recommend the pineapple crush. I’m usually prefer a chocolate dessert, which we tried and of course it was great, but the Peach Bellini was the stand out item of the night, not only was it amazing, but it looked like a piece of art!

The setting is nice considering these are covid times. The service is correct yet friendly. And most of all the Italian based dishes are delicious. I had seafood in black pasta and it was wonderful. Everyone in our party of 6 folks in our 70's loved what we ordered and most finished everything on our plates. We shared some desserts and they were sweet closings to our meals. Prices are high, as one might expect in Manhattan.

We traveled to New York to experience some fine dining. Some Michelin star and in this case a restaurant which should definitely have one. Scarpetta excels in service in every way. The well versed servers to the extremely knowledgeable Sommelier. Nothing but perfection from start to finish. The only reason I can think of that Scarpetta has not received a star is Michelin has not eaten here yet. The rooms are warm and welcoming. The wine list is endless. The food is served precision and professionalism. We sampled many of the appetizers. So much to choose from, picking what to have is your only problem of the evening. We had Diver Scallops, with blood orange, pink peppercorn, pistachio brown butter. Both the presentation and flavour were world class. Braised Octopus with artichoke, marble potato, celery, guazzetto, charred scallion vinaigrette. Roasted Mushrooms with parmigiano, tomato glaze. Pasta, made in house, melted in your mouth. Duck & Foie Gras Ravioli with amarsala reduction. Scalatelli with frutti di mare, calabrian chili. The fish, a Black Cod with caramelized fennel, concentrated tomato was so fresh a cooked to perfection. No need for a knife. Desserts were decadent a a whole new level. Espresso Budino with salted caramel, chocolate biscotti, hazelnut gelato. Just ridiculous!!! Cherry Tartufo with sweet corn cream, poached peach, crispy milk, yogurt sorbet. Everything from start to finish was 100% Can not find one flaw with the evening. Simply Perfection.

Recently had a great meal at Scarpetta. The food was good, the service of our waiter, and the atmosphere are all exceptional. My biggest criticism of the restaurant is that I have never visited it and have been seated when I am scheduled to be there. There is always an unreasonably long wait that I find unacceptable. It’s not that hard to pace our reservations so that tables are available when you arrive. Until you get this worked out, and this is the third time in a row that I have experienced this, I am not rushing back. Apart from this, we had a great meal.

The restaurant was mentioned in a agassis book. Curiosity was raised and during our visit to NYC we decided to have a dinner there. Excellent service great sommelier and that evenings spescial;white truffle pasta. Out of this world! Expensive? Yes, if only looking at your check. But worth every dollar you spent

We had an excellent meal here with friends. Everything we ate was delicious and well presented. The service was professional and prompt. Noise level was lively but we were able to enjoy the conversations.

We came to Scarpetta for my husband’s birthday (I mentioned that while booking the table). When we arrived, the hostess and the administrator at the front desk did not smile and it felt like they were “showing an attitude”. We were accompanied to our table by the hostess and then our waiter came. He was acted rude and did not smile (even though he had a mask, you can always tell what kind of emotion the person is expressing by the tone of his/her voice). We ordered food and wine. Throughout the dinner, our waiter kept being very rude, although his assistants, who were bringing the food, were the only nice and smiling people in the restaurant. We tried staying positive and have a good time however it was very hard considering the atmosphere the waiter was creating. The last straw was the desert. My son and his girlfriend ordered a cheesecake and I ordered an Espresso Budino. My husband, whose birthday it was, didn’t order anything from the dessert menu. When my husband went to the restroom the waiter came with the cheesecake and a candle on top of it and put it in front of my son. When we said that it wasn’t my son’s birthday, the waiter looked at our confused faces, blew the candle out, took the cheesecake back and went away. After a while my husband returned, the waiter brought the cheesecake back with a lighting candle again and put it in front of my husband even though the cheesecake was ordered by my son. We all looked confused and did not understand what was going on. The waiter just kept being rude and acted as if he was in a hurry somewhere. We asked for a check. When the waiter brought the check, my husband said that we did not like the service and asked why the waiter was acting like this. The waiter seemed to not really care and just said that he wasn’t rude or anything. Then, my husband said that we were not going to leave tips because we were really disappointed with the service. The waiter did not say that he was sorry that we weren’t satisfied with the service, didn’t offer to bring the supervisor so that we could express our complaints, and didn’t even ask what was wrong. He just said it was okay if we left zero tips and went away. He just didn’t care. It was the first time ever (we have been living in New York for 6 years) when we did not leave any tips. This service was simply terrible. None of us would come to Scarpetta in Manhattan ever again.

Very bad experience with this restaurant where the service was one of the worst ever. Waiters constantly annoying you with the tap water, cleaning the table every 5 minutes, rushing the whole service in case you don t spend enough, removing the plates or glasses as soon as one was empty while others were still eating, and pretending that you are in the best restaurant of the world. As for the quality of the food, it is average, nothing special, portions are very small and far from authentic italian food. I don t talk about the prices...overrated

We were a party of seven booked for 9.00pm. arrived on time and given a table at 10.10pm after several requests. Others were given a table as they were waiting longer we were told. 2 additional complementary starters and a main course were provided. No credit deduction. The food seemed good enough but 4 of the party were unwell/sick to varying degrees during the night and next morning. Almost $600 plus 20% not well spent

Moms in town, so you KNOW we eatin good! One of the partners at her company has impeccable food taste, so I knew Scarpetta was going to deliver. I am going to tell a story in one second, but before 99% of you tune out I MUST highlight the affogato served in a martini glass. WHAT A TOUCH! This is the kind of innovation that pushes all of human-kind forward. Okay, story-time: When the waitress pitched us on how good their basic spaghetti is, I knew that would easily get Mom. She loves a good simple dish done well. However, Moms is in that phase in her life where she doesn't give one single F. She is currently in her whole fake gluten free era for the past few weeks because she wants to look good for Cannes. I mean I can respect that. She asked the waitress if they could do gluten free spaghetti and she nodded in agreement. She failed to mention that it would be a penne instead of a spaghetti noodle. When the dish came, I knew it was bad. I saw them put the penne down and prayed to the good lord Jesus Christ that they gave Mom the wrong dish, and that was her initial thought as well. When the server said "the only gluten free pasta we have is penne," a chill was sent through my bones. Mom gave me the quick look with a clenched closed mouth smile with raised eyebrows as if to say "DEY DISRESPECTING ME YEEE WOOT IS DIS BOLLOCKS MATE?" ahahaha okay yeah no my mother doesn't talk like that it was more of a "well this sucks. Why would they not tell me that before?" She waits until the server is done explaining something, and then says "I'm really not mad, but just wish I would have known it would have been penne instead of the spaghetti noodle. I really thought I was getting a spaghetti noodle." I was sitting there looking away embarrassed af, and look to see the partner having the same reaction I did ahahahaha. I mean but like I do feel her that would be annoying, but I would just take that one on the chin at this point in my life. However, to Scarpetta's credit, the manager Armando came over and sweet talked my mom apologizing like 4 times. He was a little too smooth tbh. I'm watching you Armando.....ahahahaha I'm just joshin but, as a customer that is all you can ask for from a business. I absolutely adored my Cavatelli, which was a braised lamb pasta that slapped harder than Damien Dibbell. Overall, I had a fantastic experience here and it is now in my top 2 Italian spots in NYC. my husband and I enjoyed an excellent lunch served by an outstanding waiter Xavier. I mention him as a good meal can be served with service not up to par and can ruin the meal. we ordered the restaurant week lunch which served two of my favorite dishes, the polenta pasta with truffle sauce and the famous Scarpetta spaghetti . both were outstanding as was the very generous portion of delicious and exceptional biscotti served for desert. the restUrNt is elegant and small, with some bar tables, so make sure to request a table if that is your preference. service all around was excellent as was the food.

My wife and I visited Scarpetta for a bow of pasta and a drink before a show on Sunday 18th of February 2024. I don’t tend to leave a lot of reviews however felt compelled to share our experience with others on this occasion. We arrived just before our reservation time and was instructed by the austere ‘hostess’ that our table wasn’t ready and we could sit in the bar and have a drink. We didn’t mind this, I enjoyed a beer and my wife a Diet Coke in a lovely bar area. When I came to pay the server behind the bar said they didn’t take Apple Pay so my wife gave a debit card over and the bar tender said the Diet Coke was ‘on the house’. What a lovely gesture we thought (upon checking our bank we discovered that the barman had added an extra $5 on to this transaction so not exactly on the house). We wouldn’t have noticed this had we not checked our bank account due to what was to unfold next. Once our table was ready we were ushered through to the restaurant and introduced to our waiter, Andres G. The restaurant itself looked very nice, well decorated, perfect lighting and great ambience. We came to order our food from Andres G which is where things started to go wrong. His attitude was nonchalant/uninterested at best and his seemed noticeably irked every time he was asked a question about the menu. My wife and I weren’t particularly that bothered by Andres’ attitude as despite the obvious shortcomings in the front of house staff, we really liked the restaurant and we’re looking forward to our food. When the food arrived it was delicious, home made pasta, flavoursome and cooked perfectly. The only issue was that Andres looked at me like I was from Mars when I asked if I could have some Parmesan and by the time he had returned with it, half of my meal had been eaten. The wine too was served at the perfect temperature however as it was white it had to be stored in an ice bucket which wasn’t kept at our table so you can imagine how it went down with Andres when we asked for our glasses to be topped up. When it came time to pay the bill it finally arrived and we were told again, no Apple Pay and that we had to hand over our debit card as their card terminal was behind a curtain on the far side of the restaurant. Andres took our card and arrived 5 minutes later with a receipt for $163.32, not bad value but I decided not to tip as I thought his attitude and service was poor. The next morning I was looking at our online bank and notice that he had actually put the transaction through twice! I was obviously annoyed about this so the next day we workout time out of our day to go back to Scarpetta to speak to the manager who claimed that as the transactions were pending, one would go and gave us a break down from their system to show that we had only paid $163.32 + a $20 for Andres! I mentioned to the manager that we did not authorise the tip and I wanted it refunding and he assured me that within a couple of days everything would be resolved. At the time of writing one transaction (including Andrés’s tip) has gone through and the other transaction for the original price is still pending in our account. We are still in New York for the next 2 weeks as the trip is partly for work so if this isn’t sorted in the next day or so we will have to return to Scarpetta for a 3rd time. This situation has been a shambles, we usually a the minimum of 20% when in NYC but on this occasion we’re so disappointed by the attitude of our waiter that we decided not to, only for him to help himself. The issue is that many will fall for this type of scam, for example, if I had paid on my business card, I just hand the statements straight to our accounts department and Andrés’s scam would go unnoticed. I will amend this review if there is a satisfactory resolution, if not it will remain the same. Please be careful when dining in Scarpetta and always check your statement/bills.

What a great spot to celebrate a 65th birthday. Beautiful location and they honored our request for a quiet table in a small room off the main dining room. Server was wonderful with both wine and food recommendations and despite it being the Saturday night before Christmas, we were never rushed. Wonderful food and recommendations. Try the truffle pasta, it’s totally worth the cost but all the pastas and entrees were excellent. Great restaurant that continues to hold its own among the best in NYC.

This high end, outstanding restaurant yields a fabulous, affordable meal during Restaurant Week in NYC twice a year. Our $26 lunch gave us some incredible dishes, including their famous spaghetti (yes, simple in appearance, but complex in its ingredients and perfect preparation). They even included some terrific chocolate biscotti. Desert is usually not included in the RW lunches. Service was first class all the way. Our thanks to owner/chef Scott Conant.

Had dinner here Friday night. Reservations for 9:30pm. We weren't sat until almost 10pm. Food was fantastic and service was terrific! I had Beet Mezaluna and others in the party had the spaghetti(signature dish). All pasta is made in house and everything we had was wonderful. Restaurant has a very cool vibe, interesting people watching, very loud and crazy busy! We were there for 2 hours and were not rushed out(as the kitchen closes at 11pm). We did have to seek out the waiter to get the bill but as I mentioned I believe that was because there were no more tables being seated.

I was so excited to be able to dine at Scarpetta...was so disappointed on several levels. Everyone raves about the spaghetti...it was bland at best...the pictures other people are posting...is not what was served...I had to ask for extra sauce to make it enjoyable. I was told upon sitting down that the chef was cooking...then told by our waiter that he was not....my husband and I were asked if we were celebrating a special occasion...we told them we were celebrating our 25th anniversary...nothing was done...not sure why we were asked... Our waiter was nice...did not go out of his way to make the evening special..I truly like Chef Conant and thought I respected his opinion about restaurants and food....now not so sure.

My family went to Scarpetta to celebrate my daughter’s 30th birthday. (It also happened to be NY Restaurant Week.) Food was outstanding. I had the yellowtail appetizer and the tomato basil pasta for my main course. DELICIOUS!!! Other family members had equally great food. Service was flawless. Highly recommend!

While staying at The James NoMad, I had lunch at the hotel restaurant, Scarpetta. Upon seating, we were treated to a lovely selection of breads accompanied by, among other things, a delicious Mascarpone butter. Myself and my travel companion both chose a pasta dish which we both enjoyed very much. The pasta was cooked to perfection! I cannot say enough about the level of service in this restaurant....the wait staff are curtious and attentive. All in all, a pleasure!

I entertain clients EVERY day and this is the first time in 25 years that I have ever taken the time to write a review. I couldn’t be more disappointed in Scarpetta! Food 4/5 Atmosphere 4.5/5 Price - doesn’t matter at a business dinner Service 2.5/5 Portions - 2.5/5 Experience - when the service (manager, waiter, bartenders COULD CARE LESS, your experience rating becomes 0/5. For that reason, why would you ever go back? Scarpetta doesn’t care anyway. Disappoint enough people and one day it might catch up to you. Shame on you Scarpetta!
Stuffy and Rude
I have to agree with the earlier review regarding the rudeness of the hostess. We came in after a long day of walking NYC on a blustery cold day wearing big coats and looking a bit wind blown. Inquired about brunch and was given a once over look like we were not welcome. We actually wanted a reservation for the next day but given a non welcoming attitude we made a reservation elsewhere.
