Lunch at the Sea Fire Grill was enjoyable. Again, I had the organic Scottish salmon with black rice. In addition, the ambiance is quite good.

Always busy but can usually get a reservation a few days ahead of time. My husband and I always make it a point to come here on our annual trip to New York City. Their seafood is fresh and delicious.

When we arrived, we were warming greeted by the general Manager, Alex; what a treat! Consistently the best sea food restaurants in New York. From the wine to the appetizers to the main entrée, everything was so delicious and fresh. We started with the best Oysters Rockefeller in the city. Followed by 2 lb. Lobster, which I waited for nearly a year to have, and my wife had the squid ink pasta was loaded with lobster. We have remarked several times that the wonderful food is made so much delightful because of the ambiance, décor, and outstanding service. We forward to returning very soon!

The Seafire Grill is a beautiful, high end restaurant but the first thing you see when you enter is a bar with TV's going! TV's just don't fit in this type of restaurant. They offer an extensive selection of fish and meats as well as wine & cocktails. A bread basket is brought to the table first containing a few slices of a non-descript bread & some sesame crackers. For appetizers, we had the Heirloom Tomato Salad & the Steak Tartare. Both were very fresh, beautifully plated and delicious. For our main courses we had the Alaskan King Crab Legs & the Blackened Montauk Swordfish and a side of the Jumbo Asparagus. The King Crab Legs were very good but only came with a very small cup of clarified butter...we had to ask for another. At $86.00, a little more butter shouldn't be an issue. The Swordfish steak was also very good-a nice amount of spice and cooked perfectly but very thin for the price. Sadly, the Asparagus came to the table at room temperature. The service overall was good but not on the same level as other high end restaurants in the city. Summary: The Seafire Grill is a very good restaurant but overpriced for what you get on the plate and for service.

Went here on a weekend trip to NYC. Called ahead for reservations (which are recommended). Initially service was quite slow. We were givenfar too much time to decide on are drinks alone. Perhaps due to help needed? So we’ll give them this. Right now, this is an issue everywhere USA! Complimentary regular water. Optional $ bottled water. Complimentary bread, crackers, and 3 yummy spreads/dip. My “yellow tuna on bock choy” was beyond delicious! My husband’s NY strip was cooked to perfection and melt in your mouth delicious. As was my tuna. I’ve never had this so good! Homemade steak sauce was the best ever! Pay attention to the $$$$. It’s costly, but a real truly delicious! The ambiance was nice. Tastefully done. Clean.

Well presented and cooked fresh fish. The menu is not long but on this showing they do everything well. Friendly and very efficient service and a nice atmosphere too.

Highly recommend this restaurant. Went before a broadway show and they got us out in time. Food was very good and service excellent.

On the short list of great restaurants in NYC, and deservedly so. BUT BEWARE! The waiter recommended the Alaskan King Crab Legs, which were great, but he neglected to mention that they were $179! For a single entre! $179! I've paid for expensive meals in my time, but this was crazy. You will enjoy the meal, but forewarned is forearmed.

We did go for a very late lunch, so maybe the waiting and kitchen staff were on a break, but why stay open in the afternoon if you don’t have the staff to fulfil the menu? Every course we ordered had elements missing and we had to repeatedly request them....but when they arrived all the food was great. Just slightly spoiled by the lack of timely service and attention. Suggest you go in the normal dining times and enjoy the good food served to order!

Take a low-ceiling place with bad acoustics and fill it with a large number of closely-spaced tables, add fashionably little light which a)saves you electric bills; b) prevents the customers from noticing some fading aspects of the environment and c) prevents said customers from reading the menu and seeing the prices. Next, add personnel with Eastern European background where they still have a long way to go towards learning the concept of service. Don't forget to provide a kitchen that is completely incapable of delivering what was ordered. Oh, and add a wine list so extensive and so grossly overpriced that it's mind blowing. And there you have it: a recipe for disaster. And a disaster it was: I should have been suspicious when I saw the sign outside advertising “Oysters $1.50” - this around 8PM, when the oysters are actually available at that price for a short period of time at happy hour. But we were meeting some friends for dinner so we entered and stayed. It was awful: the Porterhouse and the Ribeye, ordered medium rare, came tough and dry. The Black sea bass had all the consistency, appearance and taste of a microwaved piece of rubber, served on a bed of mushy, unappetizing and inedible thing, called “risotto”. All sides- additional. The smoked fish as appetizer was the only edible component of the evening. Dinner for four, with two shared appetizers, three steaks and a fish, two sides and two bottles of wine set us back $720 BEFORE tip. And the arrogance they had to print high level tips on the bill, after delivering condescending, distracted or missing at all service! What a ripoff!

This is my lunch spot pre-pandemic because of its proximity to my office in Midtown Manhattan and its good food. I came back for a restaurant week dinner and the experience was still great. Their restaurant week menu was not a poor version of the real one. Menu offering was sumptuous, and the dishes were well executed. I’ll be back again.

Of course, there are several great seafood restaurants in NYC; however, this was an accidental find. We did not want to go far after traveling all day; so looked in TripAdvisor & other online sites for something close (walking distance w/a lady who had recent knee replacement surgery)to the Residence Inn on East 48th (Lexington & 48th) and booked this restaurant. To be sure we had the location correct, we asked the Front Desk clerk & she said it is 50 feet to our right when exiting the hotel. We arrived & were seated immediately (had an 8:00pm booking); ordered a bottle of Sancerre & perused the outstanding menu. We ordered an appetizer (salad & soup); they were to be the prelude to a super meal. I highly recommend this restaurant for food, location & ambiance (smart modern).

Yes I know it is Manhattan and I should expect to pay big for food, but this was still a big bite to swallow. Any way, easy to make a reservation from the Open Table app, very nice set up of the restaurant, plenty of fish (the main reason I chose the restaurant) but also meat and vegetarian options. Good service and pleasant surroundings. Bring a fat wallet!

Wonderful restaurant, with a perfect menu and great wine selection. We were four and tried over ten different dishes from appetizers, mains, and specials and all of them were absolutely delicious. Especially 60 days aged stake was something that is a must to try. The freshness, taste, and aroma of the food hit my receptors from the very first bite and it was more emphasized with perfectly paired wines. The quality of service, attentiveness, and friendliness of staff was another reason for my excitement.

Went as a special evening on a long weekend trip to NY. service was impeccable and the food was absolutely perfect - shared the tomahawk steak ! was almost tempted to take a phot but still can't bring myself to do that. A truly memorable evening

Great night out and excellent food. Very attentive service, clients were impressed. Food was not quality and location for midtown ideal

Our first visit last night proved to be amazing! Food and service were excellent. Our waiter Sean, recommended the sea bass and that’s what I choose. It was cooked to perfection and practically melted in your mouth. Also had the seafire salad which was excellent. Maybe the lettuce could have been chopped a bit smaller but it was great. Our service and food were top notch! Hope that one day they can add some nightly specials. It was rather expensive and I think specials could bring in a lot more people. Inside of restaurant was beautiful too!

Classy seafood and steak restaurant. Caring, knowledgeable and attentive staff. Excellent cuisine, well presented. Clean environment and nice decor. Expensive but typical of the price of a upper scale establishment. Perfect for business dining. All food to perfection. A five would be awarded if it were more reasonably priced.

We have been eagerly looking forward to the Seafire's reopening after the pandemic lockdown in New York City. We invited a good friend to join us for lunch. It was superb, both the food and the service. As much as we wanted to come back, they seemed to want to have us back. The warmth of the greeting, the skill level of the service, and the quality of the food and wine added up to a thoroughly satisfying experience. It was like coming home to a kitchen run by good friends who happen to be excellent cooks with a wonderful wine cellar.

Best steak we’ve had… Walked in and asked for a table for two. Had the Porterhouse T-bone and a bottle (or two) of St Emillion. The steak was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, served at an angle so the juices run clear. It was perfect in every way.

Consistently one of the best sea food restaurants in New York. Reserved for a large party, 9 people, which always presents a challenge for service and dining consistency. They sat us in the perfect location near fireplace, were attentive throughout service, and checked in to ensure everything was going well. Food was cooked exactly as ordered, flavor differentiated, all expertly prepared. Had the halibut, squid ink lobster pasta, while Branzino, tuna and even a filet mignon. Tuna tartare appetizer with cavier side is highly recommended. Wine list is one of the more approachable in Manhattan, price ranges for all diners. Found a perfect Burgandy that everyone loved. Thank you to the Sea Fire Grill team for making our dinner a night to remember, much needed in the Covid 19 environment. On that, the restaurant adhered to all protocols and were extremely conscientious.

Great experience everyone friendly and professional service was outstanding and all staff went above and beyond to make us welcomed

I have been to this restaurant several times in the past few months. I was there last Tuesday for Nat'l Caviar Day and they were running a special on Champagne and Caviar. Outstanding food, service and ambiance. The caviar and champagne special was tremendous. They used their top shelf offerings. After that I had the snapper special, also excellent. Everything I have ever had here has been phenomenal. This is not only one of the best seafood restaurants in NYC, It is one of the best restaurants in NYC, PERIOD! The restaurant is modern, comfortable, and beautiful. The service is always excellent too.

In reading the reviews on this site, I find that all the wonderful things I could say about the decor, the ambience, and the impeccable, professional service have been said multiple times. The experience is that of being a welcome, even pampered, guest. The food was very good, and the value was amazing. There was a wide gap between the prices printed on the menu for the items we ordered and that of the Restaurant Week prix fixe luncheon my spouse and I enjoyed. It seemed like the deal of the century. We both had the octopus starter, which seemed to be incredibly popular. I think the majority of the other diners were having it too. Next we had the Scottish salmon and the branzino, each of us trying some of both. The salmon was cooked to medium rare, exactly as we'd specified. The quality and the freshness of the fish were exceptional. The portions were quite generous, and the accompaniments on the plates were interesting. Everything was attractively presented, but I do have to admit that I could have done without the fish head staring back at me from the plate. All in all, it was a fine meal at a fantastic price!

Wonderful atmosphere, service and most importantly: delicious food! We had the east & west coast oysters, awesome! Followed by shared oysters Rockefeller. We opted For the seared cod special for our entree and it was fantastic! Highly recommended and we will be back!

Been dining here for the last 10 years it’s the beat restaurant in NYC by a country mile!! Stylish and class it offers dining like nowhere else in the city from the moment you walk in you will feel special ! The staff are amazing and so is the place itself but the main reason I eat here is simply the food ! It’s consistently excellent, using local produce they produce dishes that will create an explosive reaction in your mouth ! When in New York do not miss this one ! It’s not cheap but there again you pay for what you get ! See you in the spring guys and thanks once again for giving us a lay night to remember.

omg.! I am a long Islander who spent the holiday at my vacation club in NYC. About The Sea Fire Grill? I have not experience great tasty food and service like this place! The food was just outstanding! The best crab cake I have ever experienced. and it was an experience indeed. I have dined at some very good restaurants but When you experience food that you just cannot forget!? I am not a beef eater, my friend is she ordered the filet mignon and so I tasted a bit of hers and OMG! Tender like butter and the taste outstanding. Complementary eggnog with a touch of rum was delicious! . Our waiter was amazing and the atmosphere elegant yet comfortable. I am a Juniors cheesecake fan and swore by no other but! The cheese cake here is a challenge for Juniors ! I look forward to going back here again soon. My compliments to the fine CHEF!

Excellent restaurant and fabulous service . The Rockefeller oysters were amazing . Tne colossal shrimp and crab cake are highly recommended . The wedge salad needs some improvement

The Seafire Grill is part of the Benjamin NYC restaurant group. Thus, ostensibly, it isn't a chain restaurant. However, there are restaurants like the Seafire Grill all over the United States. The Oceanaire, Devon Seafood Grill; These restaurants are akin to upscale steakhouse chains such as Flemings, Capital Grill, etc. There is nothing wrong with this. Diners pay good money for fresh fish, elegant surroundings, and professional service. You know what you are getting, even if it is a bit generic. The problem is, generic isn't special, and I'm in New York City, one of the culinary bastions of the world. We ate, played on our phones, had some decent fish at the bar, and went on our way. Neither one of us will ever remember this meal.

I’m sharing a review of the poor, biased service that I received at this restaurant. Issue 1) While there were 3 of us (1 male, 2 females) who ordered the same weekend prix fixe menu, the server only asked our male companion if he wanted to order an extra side, and ignored the 2 females Issue 2) we asked for more bread, the server never brought it and we ended up having to ask another server Issue 3) the prix fixe menu came with a choice of chocolate soufflé as a dessert, which both females ordered. Instead, we both received a chocolate molten lava cake instead with no explanation. When I asked why we received this instead of the soufflé, the server tried to gaslight us by saying that was the same, to which I asked him to ask the pastry chef. After awhile, the server came back and said they were out of the soufflé. I would’ve appreciated if he had told us that at the beginning and asked if we wanted a different dessert than to try to force another on us without asking and then gaslight to say that this was it. Issue 4) the restaurant mgr went around to the tables and spoke to each of them. However, no one once stopped at our table to ask us how we liked the food, and were generally ignored We were a table with a mix of people from different minorities, it makes me wonder whether the treatment we rec’d was because of a bias or just bad service in general. Even though the food was good, I would never return to this restaurant to be subjected to 2nd class treatment and would suggest that the owner provide supplementary bias training to its staff.

Overall a winner....food, ambiance and service were all a treat. Chilled lobster salad and grilled octopus were absolutely delicious. Special thanks to Milot for facilitating a great dining experience. He was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu option.

Sea Fire Grill is an outstandingly good restaurant. We’ve dined there many times over the years including twice during our July 2023 visit to NYC. The seafood is really really good, perhaps the best anywhere. The service and ambiance also are wonderful: Alex and Jaime will take A+ care of you but all of the people who work there are very pleasant and service oriented. We’ve had many wonderful dinners there, most recently halibut and the blackened swordfish. Everything is really really good! The restaurant also has a great wine list. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Food was great—as usual. However, since we weren’t part of a large party we were given lackluster service. I’ll start at the beginning. Reservation at 8 sat at 8:40–no apology from waiter or manager. (When I asked later there was no communication from the ladies at the front). Sat at a 4 top inches away from a huge party—feeling uncomfortable we moved ourselves to table next that was meant for 2 people. Then they came over and us to merge our table with the 2 top next us so they could use the 4 top for 4 people. Shouldn’t happen in a nice restaurant. If you do this then you should offer the people something for the inconvenience. All night long we had to flag people down for water or our dishes sat dirty or we had to wait forever for our check. The waiter probably came to see if we want desert or coffee but we will never know because before the waiter had a chance to talk he was summoned to a large table. When we summoned a manger over he was unaware of any problems. If he happened to turn around and look us at least once he would have noticed but he was to concerned about all the large party. He did give us port and macarons(neither we like). Too little to late. Bottom line is there is a lot of other restaurants nearby that treat all groups equally. Good luck.

Took my love of 35 years out for valentines dinner out in our first adventure to New York. Sea fire grill came highly recommend by our hotel. I must say we were not disappointed. We both had surf and turf which was incredible, wife had salad while I had lobster bisque. Surf and Turf was a thick cut filet Mignon with two healthy lobster tails and the largest jumbo shrimp I’ve ever seen, reminded me of ice landic lobster. Oh and dessert was an amazing New York cheese cake. The entire dinner was an amazing feast. We will visit again.

It had been 8 months since my last outstanding visit to The Sea Fire Grill. After it had been closed for several months due to the pandemic's effect on NYC restaurants, I was hoping it had retained its level of excellence. I am happy to report that it not only has retained it -- but has actually exceeded it! The meal was beautifully presented and delicious! The bartender constructed our drinks perfectly; the service was friendly and on-point all night; and the attention we received from the management enhanced our evening. There is no doubt in my mind that The Sea Fire Grill has become one of the finest restaurants of any kind in New York City!

My wife and I were visiting NYC and we were invited to dinner by my old college friend (who lives in the area). We arrived early and had a few drink in the bar area as we were waiting for our hosts. The bar area is very nice, has a good selection and the service is quite good. I had 6 oysters on the half shell to start and Alaskan King Crabs as the main course. Both were very good. In short: The ambiance, the service and the food were all quite good.

We arrived 15 minutes early for our dinner on Christmas Day, thinking we’d have a nice drink before sitting down. When we got to the restaurant, we were, however, met with an incredible mayhem and chaos: the small lobby and bar were absolutely full of people barely being able to move. Talking to some customers, they’d been there a lot longer and had no idea when they’d be seated. It was a terrible start and we were preparing ourselves for the worst ever Christmas dinner. I must say that whatever caused the bottleneck in the early part of the evening was eventually resolved and people got seated and to the credit of the kitchen and waiting staff, the food was delicious and the waiting staff remained reasonably calm. Well done! I deducted one star for the check-in chaos and for the fillet mignons not being quite as perfect as we’ve had them elsewhere before. Altogether a nice meal but with over $600 for for people, I would have expected a little bit more extraordinary dishes. But I guess it was Christmas Day and New York!! Finally, thank you for acknowledging our daughter’s birthday. 😊

Delicious cocktails, seafood, steaks, and sides. Plus extensive wine line. Superb service. Fine dining. Highly recommend. Generous portions.

Went before a broadway show. Service was very good. The quality of the fish were great (swordfish and halibut) but both were a little over cooked and too dry. Otherwise a great meal.

A wonderful dining experience, great service, excellent food. We will definitely be back in February.

Best of NYC, hands down. We had our best evenings in New York there! The food and the service were both excellent. Highly recommended

I was very excited to go toe the restaurant after readding several wonderful reviews, plus, it was close to my hotel. The restaurant is very nice inside, and my husband and I were seated right away. I had made reservations, and the restaurant was not full. The service was good, but the food was TOTALLY disappointing, and the appetizer of grilled calamari was almost inedible. It was so tough that we could not cut it with a nice, and it had absolutely no flavor. I didn't want to send it back, but I could not believe that a seafood restaurant could have ruined this appetizer. My husband and I both ordered the tuna entree, and again, we were both disappointed. The flavor of the fish was very bland and not seasoned. The Bok choy which was served with the fish, was so tough and flavorless, that my husband left his, and I was only able to cut through part of mine. We decided to try a dessert, and the molten chocolate cake was fantastic! For a meal that cost close to $200.00, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. We did notice that many people in the restaurant were eating lobsters and crab, so perhaps that is what should have been recommended. This was truly one of the worst meals that I have ever eaten at a fine dining establishment.

As I thought about what I would write in this review, the major and best compliment I can give is that Sea Fire, no matter who you are, is a special place that really and truly looks after ALL of its patrons to ensure a memorable meal with great sincerity. This is our go-to restaurant when in NYC to visit family and friends. Of the 12 nights we visited, I think we ate at Sea Fire 8 or 9 times! This is usual for our visits, as we visit an elderly relative (who has somewhat of a celebrity status at the restaurant) and lives in the building next door. There are so many things that make Sea Fire stand out, but these are the main ones: The tried and true: -THE FOOD! Try the lobster or beetroot salad, crab cakes, lobster bisque, Branzino, rack of lamb, cream of spinach and lobster mac & cheese! The sincerity and character the restaurants exhibits each visit: -No exaggeration: by the time my Grandmother sits down, her drink is at the table within 30 seconds; -The maître d' and front house waiters (her "boyfriends") all come to greet her by name and hugs; -You can't write about Sea Fire without complimenting the bartenders, primarily Ben, who is astutely aware of my Grandmother's age and that her drink needs to be made weak for safety reasons; -One of my Grandmother's caregivers had to leave the restaurant for an emergency and the maître d' walked her to her apartment; -Angela, who primarily serves the front of the house is so attentive and fun! She is quick, moves at your pace & has a TON of random facts (and loves learning others); If you live in Turtle Bay, midtown east in general or are just visiting, how can you not dine at Sea Fire?!? This is a sure bet for a great meal from a knock-out restaurant in a quiet neighbourhood.

Sophisticate, elegant, wonderful ambient, excellent service, delicious food. The grilled swordfish with truffle potatoes was amazingly good. My wife had the fried branzino with garlic mashed potato which was very tasteful. Good wine selection as well. It was worthy every penny. Come well dressed to not feel like a fish out of water.

This was our 1st time at Sea Fire Grill and we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. We highly recommend this place - the service, atmosphere, and food were fantastic. We arrived early for our reservation so we could relax and have a few drinks at the bar. The bartenders were very friendly and the drink selection was extensive. We were seated at a corner table in the room with the fireplace. The ambiance was nice and cozy. The service was impeccable. We had the octopus and crabmeat cocktail for appetizers and the halibut and crabcakes for our entrees, with the truffle mashed potatoes and lobster mac and cheese for sides Everything was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. We come into the city several times a year and will definitely return.

Maybe the stars were misaligned or Sea Fire had an off night, but I was scammed. Two women identified themselves as part of the Benjamin Group's marketing team on behalf of Sea Fire. They were playful and flirtatious. So I bought them one round of drinks, but they stuck me with a $180 bar tab. Yet the bartender did nothing to intervene. One of the two then told me that she had slept with a married man associated with the group. to advance her career. Truly a toxic experience. Instead of fixing the tab, I fled out of disgust!

Really lovely vibe and such wonderful decor Food was great and so so tasty. I love to eat here every time I visit NY and whilst some can think it’s a little pricy it’s definitely worth it

Had walked by the front door but nit realized how file a layout was inside. Decor like a classic steak house, dark paneling, soft lights and quiet buzz. Service was impeccable; waiter and mare'd stopped by time and time agin to check on foos, satisfaction and refill beverages. All food was delicious, and portions generous enough to share among family. We stuck to seafood but saw a delicious looking steak at an adjoining table. Son loved cheesecake NY style. Got complementary lemoncheo digestif after meal. Overall a delightful experience.

The food here was great, very lively atmosphere, excellent service! Definitely make a reservation, this place is busy!

Our first time at Sea Fire Grill was exceptional. We sat at the bar first and had oysters and delicious cocktails made by Ben. Then we sat down and had a terrific dinner. It was restaurant week so we took advantage of the menu, it was a great value. The octopus, lobster bisque and the squid ink pasta with the lobster were outstanding. Our server Diar was truly accommodating. We couldn’t have asked for a better evening.

We were staying in NYC and found this restaurant by chance Glad we did, the restaurant was warm & inviting and the staff friendly. The menu catererrd for all dietary requirements, definitely a restaurant that should be on your list to go to.

Good for a business lunch. Our pre fixe meal was served quickly and was good. Decor is nice if a little austere. Lunch atmosphere was moderately quiet. Overall a good experience.

What an amazing experience, arranged a Birthday surprise for my Wife. Read all previous customer reviews before booking and we were not disappointed. The staff were friendly and polite. If you are a fish lover this is defiantly the place to visit, it’s all fresh and Cooked with care.

While as it is in New York all restaurants are noisy, this one is no exception however, they shine with the service and quality of their food. The crab cake is outstanding, I will certainly return

Run by the Benjamin Steak House group Sea Fire Grill is their foray into high end seafood eateries and from our experience they have succeeded quite well. The dining room is very elegant with dark walnut wine racks, raging fire place and soft lighting that compliments the comfortable seating. The menu is very extensive with a wide range of choices, from the traditional to the more contemporary fusion variety. The quality of the food was obviously top quality and delicious and the service most professional. We had the sole which was deboned table side, something you don't see much anymore. If seafood is your thing you won't want to miss dining at this place!

Came with small kids on a busy Friday night, the restaurant was accommodating and food was delicious! Only downside after reading other reviews about good service was we had a very unenthusiastic server and host who couldn’t give a *hit, but it’s probably a one-off since all other staff was good!

A beautiful refined restaurant with very friendly and professional staff. Huge wine selection and many great seafood entrees and apps to choose from. The king crab legs were delicious and cracked/opened completely for me by side our table, making it much easier to enjoy. Didn’t have room for dessert but if you like brussel sprouts, you absolutely much try them as a side. Perhaps the best I’ve had.

We went to the Sea Fire Grill for an early dinner before we went onto the theatre. The restaurant was a few doors down from where we were staying so it was ideal. The food & service were excellent For once we skipped a pre dinner drink and started with a Spanish albarino to go with the meal. My daughter chose the lobster bisque as an appetiser whilst I chose the grilled calamari - both were excellent. For our main course I chose the Dover Sole served on the bone whilst my daughter chose the Yellowfin Tuna. We shared the herb fries & glazed carrots. Both fish dishes were faultless - the dover sole perfectly cooked and not dried out & my daughter who is a great tuna fan thought it was some of the best tuna dishes she has ever tasted. I skipped dessert & had a coffee instead whilst my daughter chose the tiramisu which she thought was a lovely end to her meal. The service was so professional & attentive but still friendly. Overall a great meal & we are so pleased we managed to eat there.

Smoked fish and Chablis is one. So is pasta and crab. Then there's great food and attentive service. The Seafire Grill does exquisite combinations well...and the lively Friday evening crowd seems to agree. A terrific place. Worthy of several more trips.

My wife and I decided to give this resturant a try because we were going to the east side and had a voucher from our Marriott Hotel (she also wanted to shop at Bloomingdales for the holidays). They seated us in the dining room which had a lovely fire going, the establishment was nicely decorated for the holidays. Staff was outstanding they were attentive but not overbearing. You could sit, talk and be heard. We had the lunch special $41.00 3 course meal. We added the Jumbo Crab Cake to start our adventure. I had the spanish octopus, prime sirloin which was cooked to perfection with a salad, my wife had the Mediterranean branzino and lobster bisque which she loved. Apple Tart and Tiramisu with coffee rounded out our meal. This east side gem is worth the trip. We will be back!!!

It was our first night in the city and I wanted Seafood so I took a leap of faith and chose Sea Fire. Once we arrived we loved the sidewalk view bar and chose to eat there while we did some people watching. I wish I knew the bartenders name because he was excellent. The food was incredible. The Alaskan king crab was fabulous and my husband’s surf and turf was just as impressive. Highly recommended! The restaurant was full but it didn’t feel crowded.

Great spot Midtown East , lots of Fish , steaks as well. Service is tops , I’ve eaten here regularly for many years , took my family tonight. Well done wine list as well.

This is a very good restaurant. But is neither trendy like "Catch" or old school like "Aqua Grill"..its in between. The seafood was perfectly prepared, sides were generous and wine list strong. I'd prefer the restaurant for a business meal rather than a date.

Outstanding food, service and overall experience. My wife had the halibut and I had the swordfish - - both were very well prepared and tasty. Our side dish of brussels sprouts had a unique flavor and went well with the fish entrees. Starters were equally excellent - goat cheese salad and octopus. Service was professional and friendly. Cocktail menu had interesting options and I enjoyed my Sazerac. The price was quite fair considering the quality of the overall experience including the excellent fish dishes. We would recommend and absolutely return on a future NYC trip.

I can't speak more highly of Sea Fire! I've visited the restaurant more times than I can count and always multiple times when in town visiting my 94 year-old grandmother. The entire staff are outstanding and treat her like royalty. They know her drink and even what she wants to eat. Even more surprising, the bartenders remember what my partner and I drink, and we only visit twice per year. The staff make a point to come to the table to say hi and check-in. It's also not uncommon for my grandmother to end the night dancing with some people by the bar! At one point, the manager walked my grandmother home to her apartment. Forgive me with names because the entire staff is truly wonderful, but standouts for me are the bartenders Nikki and Ben. This is truly a one-of-a-kind restaurant and that has been proven true every time we visit. And, my God, the food is excellent!!! The surf and turf is by far the best!

This is a beautiful restaurant with very attentive servers and staff. I loved the ambience. The staff were extremely professional, accommodating, and personable. I find that not to always be the case while visiting in NYC so it was a breath of fresh air. The food presentation and drinks are well done. The sides are a la carte and the portions are nice. I highly recommend the lobster mac & cheese and the brussels sprouts side dishes and the mussels appetizer if in season. You will pay a little more at this restaurant, but I found the experience to be well worth it. Whoever owns/manages this restaurant truly does it right. Cheers!

We were in town on business and chose this restaurant based on reviews. It didn't disappoint, the food was superb. If you like seafood in NYC, this is the plaice for you.

My wife and I went here tonight. The Spanish octopus was just ok lacked flavor octopus was cooked just right however needed seasoning. The halibut was over cooked and dry. My wife's pasta with crab was just ok nothing special.

Recommended by hotel and it was very good. Wanted a good fish restaurant and this filled the bill. A bit pricey but food and service was very good.

Restaurant was very busy but you would not know by how the outstanding staff handled it all.. And I must say the staff has infinite patience dealing with many food questions. Ambience is wonderful, staff great, food good.. My oysters were properly shucked which was a pleasant surprise. I recommend you go, enjoy and have a bloody mary - very good.. if friendlyRESTAURANT VERY BUSY BUT WOULD NOT KNOW BY HOW THE OUTSTANDING STAFF HANDLED IT ALL.. AND I MUST SAY THE STAFFis friendly, accommodating and has IF FRIENDLY, ACCOMMODATING AND HAS PATIENCE FOR A LOT OF CRAZY FOOD QUESTIONS.. FOOD WAS GOOD AND MY OYSTERS WERE SHUCKED PROPERLY.. ALL IN ALL I AN SAY NOTHING NEGATIVE ABOUT THIS RESTAURANT ON A BUSY FRIDAY NITE.. GO - ENJOY AND HAVE A BLODDY MARY.... ..

Love it. The service was absolutely amazing! And the food is worth every penny. The tower of seafood was awesome. Have the waiter customize it to your groups desire. The dinner was great. The sea bass was totally worth it. The dessert was great. Don’t miss it!

I had the lunch menu and it was clearly not great. The burrata starter was the best but followed by a lousy US prime and a very mediocre apple tart...

Delicious, beautifully presented food. Blue cheese dressing on wedge salad was just right. Composed tomato and cucumber salad with feta looked and tasted great. My roasted branzino was a delightfully meaty piece of fish, and my husband enjoyed his squid ink pasta with lobster. Large wine list, with a wide variety of prices. Only complaint - it’s a very noisy room. Definitely not a place for quiet conversation.

It pains me to write this review because I’ve been a long time customer for year’s. I celebrate every major milestone that happens in my life @ Benjamin’s Steakhouse Establishments. Visit on Valentine’s Day with my girlfriend an had a wonderful time up until we decide to have a night cap @ the bar. My girlfriend was hugging an kissing on me to think me for bringing her to sea fire as the atmosphere an food was so good, as she was affection the bartender/waiter (Ben) came over to us a said to us “WE DON’T DO THAT HERE”. This kinda discriminated comment left a BAD taste in my mouth an me an my girlfriend looking very confused. There was a lot of couples in that establishment doing the same thing we was doing he never said anything to them. We was discriminated against because we was 2 females an found his comment unnecessary. To this day my girlfriend bring the bartender comments up because she couldn’t make sense of it an why the comment was made. This hurt me to my soul because my personal lifestyle has never been commented on @ any place I’ve visited with my companion

I only ever write reviews for an amazing or a terrible experience and sadly this is a terrible one. We arrived and it was hot, dark and uncomfortable. This wouldn’t have mattered but it took an hour for our food to arrive. Whilst waiting, we did have some bread but there was a plastic string in it. I told the server but he simply nodded and took the bread away! It was just me and my 11-year-old daughter for a special treat. I am vegetarian and she is still a small eater. There was no vegetarian option (even though I was told the restaurant is vegetarian friendly) and no option for smaller portions. I ended up having several sides and my daughter had a $70 steak (which she didn’t eat as the outside was burnt). We were so looking forward to this special meal but left hungry and disappointed. If you are vegetarian or have children avoid this place!

Based on the hotel concierge recommendation we had a wonderful dinner at Sea Fire Grill in New York City. It is part of the Benjamin Steakhouse franchise and the food and service were excellent. Definitely a five star place and five star prices. Like most NYC restaurants the wine mark up from retail is 300% which in my opinion is way too high. But they did have one of the best wine lists I have seen in a while. I had a perfectly prepared swordfish and my wife have outstanding seared scallops. Outside of the wine prices we felt this restaurant was exceptional in both service and food quality and selection. We should have ordered wine by the glass but they had a favorite Aubert Chardonnay on the list I could not refuse

Overrated for the service and ambiance .Not worth the money spent . Untrained service staff, very loud that you have to shout your order to the waiter, temperature was like sitting in a freezer, definitely not a place to have a relaxing dinner. Waiters are untrained to given plates but having to ask for cutlery is unheard of . The calamari was undercooked, champagne was served flat which is unacceptable. Main course was of average quality and presentation was a big zero ! Good wine list but would I chose a $250 plus bottle of wine when I get served flat champagne absolutely not . The only positive about this restaurant was the scallop dish . The waiter tried his best however this could not make up for this very disappointing dinner experience.

You need a reservation as every table was full at 6:30. The food and service was excellent. We had octopus, East Coast oysters, Branzino, Halibut and a bottle of wine. It's very noisy and busy, but the wait staff runs like clockwork ,watching the tables. Highly recommend.

I tried this place prior to Covid and rated it highly, returned this week, Tuesday, as I was staying a couple of doors up. Whilst the food especially the squid starter was excellent but the overall meal spoilt by a very loud crowd waiting for their table. Considerate of other diners they were not. Obviously the restaurant is rated highly given how busy they were but perhaps they should consider asking those patrons who can't act like responsible grown ups to modify their noise.

Hubs and i are just off the plane and starving. This restaurant has a beautiful, elegant ambiance. Service is excellent. We had organic salmon and black rice, grilled asparagus, Bibb lettuce salad and seafood pasta dish. It was all very tasty. Good sized portions. We had coffee and no alcohol $165 including tip. It hit the spot and was just steps from The Lexington hotel where we stayed.

So lucky to be able to take the train into the city to dine at this fabulous restaurant. Everything clicks here - the ambience, the staff, the cozy atmosphere and THE FOOD. Timi took care of us in the bar where we had drinks prior to dinner. Sea Fire Grill always has the most delicious, fresh oysters. We chose a selection from West & East Coast. Two of our guests had the Dover Sole which was deboned table side. I always cannot resist the Halibut. The sides were spectacular especially the roasted brussel sprouts with balsamic, soy, ginger reduction. Everything from the wine to the dessert was perfectly orchestrated. Service is 10 starts. Thank you Ori for taking extra special care of us this past Saturday night!

Classic and traditional New York restaurant with good quality of food and attentive/professional service. Highly recommended.

Ate here during a few days in NYC. Had a lovely meal - particularly the crab cake starter. The service was good but slightly haphazard - the waiter seemed to concentrate on tables of four or more at our expense. All the serving staff were male with two females to meet and greet and take coats. Our waiter addressed all his conversation to me (the male). All in all we had a great meal but this is by no means a cheap place.

For whatever reason I find it hard to get a mainly fish menu in New York. I found my answer. The sea fire grill was a fish eaters delight. Lots of very nice choices prepared thoughtfully. Fish and simple ingredients. Don’t worry if you don’t eat fish there is a nice menu of prime aged meats.

The place is beautiful, the service top notch and the food and drinks excellent. We did the Restaurant Week prixe fixe and I was a bit concerned about leaving hungry but the portions were perfect. The waiter was patient with our special requests (the cocktails should not be overly sweet and the salmon should be barely dead). The price was commensurate with the quality and location of the place. I went with girlfriends but can't wait to bring hubby!

We had the Tuna, Salmon and Swordfish. All were amazing and we paid a second visit on our last night in NY. Brussels sprouts great and chocolate lava cake. We were greeted in a very friendly and professional fashion by the maitre D. Waiters Ronaldo, Feim and Mark took very good care of us on those two occasions One that we will definitely return to next time we are in NY-not to be missed

Tried the lamb chop, and the taste is superb. we also try the mushroom, chicken and grilled seabass. the food quality is good

My wife & I always enjoyed this restaurant when we visit New York City. When we arrive, we are always warmly greeted by everyone especially Alex, the General Manager. Our server, Bensen, did a fantastic job explaining every dish to us. He was extremely friendly, helpful and attentive. When it comes to the wine list, Jay, is amazing. He explained some wonderful wines for us to try to complement our seafood and meat entrees. Both of our meals were absolutely delicious! We highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to returning.

Decor is a bit tired and dated but a good place for lunch in midtown. The lobster salad was phenomenal. The Nicoise was also delicious. Portions are generous. Quiet place for business lunches.

I have always wanted to eat at Sea Fire Grill based on the reviews and everything I dreamed about came true. The restaurant itself is beautiful and you walk into a lovely greeting. I cannot say enough about how good the food and service was and how I will be back for one more visit before we leave NYC. Oh, and if you do go, make sure you have the cheesecake.

Business dinner here with some partners. Great atmosphere, good service. Waiters know what they are about and the food was great. Starters, main course, dessert were all on point. Seating a bit uncomfortable and restaurant not too spacious but hey this is New York City so can't complain. Excellent place to wine and dine

This was our first time at Sea Fire Grill even though we live 4 blocks away. Occupying the space that used to be Chiam, Sea Fare Grill is a winner in every respect. Welcoming and gracious staff serve a sophisticated cuisine in a refined and elegant space. Even though one expects that seafood would reign, the filet mignon we had was one of the best in memory: tender, juicy, flavorful and cooked to perfection. The lobster bisque was velvety and luscious. There is an extensive wine list for every taste; we had an excellent dry Chardonnay from Navarra which complemented ideally our seafood appetizer and meat main course. The rich cheesecake and flavorful lemon sorbet we shared after dinner were the perfect choice and were followed by espresso. All in all, a delightful dining experience. Highly recommended.

food was great, but very cold sittting with the door going open all the time so we hurried tio foinisch our food and get warm again

This is a quiet restaurant with very good service and very good food. On a Saturday evening, it was half empty, perhaps because it is a little expensive. The Bibb lettuce salad appetizer with Boursin cheese was attractively presented with delicious dressing. That and the creme brûlée dessert were my favorite parts of the meal. I found the main course, trofie pasta with crabmeat, a little too rich although tasty. I would definitely return and try something else.

The Marriott Concierge recommended the Grill around the corner if we wanted a memorable experience, We were treated to the best seafood we ever had. After passing the bar area which was misleading with loud chatter, the dining room was spacious, with ambient lighting and well-spaced tables. The Maine, crab-stuffed lobster and Organic Scottish Salmon were cooked to perfection and were generous portions. The service was unlike we have ever experienced in NY. Our main waiter, Diar, was so gracious with his time and assistance and not invasive. The supporting staff were very attentive, also. Yes, a memorable night, well worth a reservation!

Last night I had dinner with my grandparents. It was very pleasant. The service and food was great. We all hadseafood. It was prepared very well. My favorite was the octopus. We also had creme brûlée for dessert which was great. We enjoyed it a lot. Overall, everything was great and I would come again. Thank you for the great food and service.

After a Broadway Matinee attended this restaurant for dinner. The dining area is very comfy and well decorated. The wine list was extensive and quite varied. The food was very good we had the Squid Pasta and Tuna which were quite good and our serve Milot made our stay quite memorable.

Visited11/05/19. Top level food quality & service. A bit cramped but due likely to the popularity they are trying to accommodate as many people as they can and the servers seem adept working within the environment.

Recommended by hotel staff, this seafood restaurant was worth the walk in the cold. The waiters were fast and attentive, bringing us to a good table , and even meeting our request to shut down the air con (it was a cold December day, after all!). We had lobster salads as starters, and then we shared the trofie and the grilled calamari. The only possible remark would be about the pasta price - at USD 39 for trofie it seemed a bit exaggerated, considering that the calamari costed USD 21. I didn't appreciate the "suggested guideline on tipping", since I believe the employer (not the customer...) shall pay the employees, but I understand the cultural difference vs. Asia, where tipping someone is considered offensive. I recommend this place both for (important) business meetings, and also for couples looking for a nice romantic dinner off the usual path.

What a delightful surprise to find such a wonderful restaurant right next door to our hotel, Residence Inn by Marriott, on East 48th St. in NYC. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere and ambiance definitely upscale and classy, and the service first rate. We will definitely go back.

Had a fabulous night at the Sea fire Grill, service , food , ambience. All terrific. Waiting and bar staff very informative and attentive. All made for a great time . Thank you

I just can't say enough about the Sea Fire Grill ... the food is spectacular, and the service is even more spectacular. We usually sit at the Bar and "Ben" might just be the best bartender ever ... he always remembers your name, give great recommendations, and the food is out of this world. A+ for the seafood, I like the lobster and the swordfish, but everything's spectacular ... even the steaks! A+ good and fun and "all that" too!

My husband chose this nice restaurant because I am a seafood person and this looks like a romantic spot for our dinner-date--- it really is! The ambiance is minimalist with refined servers and dark-lit tables. The guests were primarily couple or small adult groups during our visit which was perfect for us who wanted a dinner-date. Food were superb and beautifully designed too-- excellent job chef! The servers, manager were all on top of their game with checking on us and everyone. We will go here once we get the chance to vacation at NYC again-- two thumbs up to all!

This restaurant has great food and service but my visit was lackluster after a private dinner in a very small private room. They decided to make the table setup diagonal - what a horrible decision!!! The waiters were constantly all over us due to the awkward setup. A completely stupid table setup decision that ruined and otherwise perfect meal. My suggestion - don't have a private room - it is rather ugly and old - just seat folks at the regular restaurant until you update the room (it is well overdue and embarrassing)

This restaurant was recommended to me by a hotel staff member who has taken good care of me for years so I tried it out before taking in a play. It's a beautiful restaurant. Nick was my server and the service was great. I had the Branzino, beet salad and the molten chocolate cake for dessert. I enjoyed my meal and would return to this restaurant.

The food here is truly excellent. We had oysters, colossal shrimp, tuna tartare, crab legs and haddock. Absolutely divine. However at the end the waiter for some reason charged my card twice for 50% of the check and then voided the transactions and attempted to charge the full amount. The bank blocked my card for fraud. Accidents happen but the manager was then so rude. Demanding I call the bank there and then. It ruined the dinner for us. Such a shame.

From the wine, to the appetizers to the main entree, everything was fresh, plentiful and good. There is a large wine selection and choices between fish and meat. We chose two appetizers, and our dinners included tuna, steak and pasta, and everything was wonderful. We will definitely go back often.

This restaurant is just awesome. It is beautifully appointed and has a great menu. We had swordfish, grilled calamari and clam chowder and finished with cheese cake. We sat at the bar for dinner and Val was beyond terrific as our bartender and server. Great place, great service!!! Highly recommend!!!

Went for dinner to celebrate our son’s 22nd birthday. They accommodated my gluten allergy and presented our son with a Creme Brûlée (all of us could share) with a candle he could blow out. Ordered oysters, crab claws, and Scottish Salmon entrees. Al were very fresh, seasoned well, with a nice presentation. We’ll be back the next time we are in town.

Nicely located in Midtown Manhattan this place is very lively with excellent service and great food. The menu includes a wide variety of oysters, fish, sea food as well as some meat dishes. We tried the Spanish octopus and the mussels as appetizers and were really impressed by the flavours and the overall taste. As main dishes we tried the lobster and it was fantastic. If you are looking for great seafood in NYC, this is where you will find it.

Despite booking the restaurant requesting the food to go easy on salt + acknowledging our server who was aware of my request The fish was served with excessive seasoning . The management did not apologise or acknowledge such a simple request There are better seafood restaurants in NyC

This was the second time we visited the Sea Fire Grill. The first time was four years ago. We thought it was outstanding then and we were not disappointed with this visit. The staff is very knowledgeable and professional. Almost feels like you are the only diners there. The selection of fish is excellent and fresh. The presentation was beautiful and the taste matched. One of the ways I judge a restaurant is how well they prepare their vegetable dishes. To me it tells the attention that is paid to details. We had brussel sprouts that were exceptional. While the Sea Fire Grill is not for those on a tight budget, for those that want top notch seafood food and service to match this is the place to go. When ever we come to NYC the Sea Fire Grill will always be a go to restaurant for us.

I came here for NYC restaurant week and what a find! I'm weary of restaurants near big tourist areas - this one's close to Grand Central - but this was great! The quality and quantity was perfect even during restaurant week. I started with the burrata which was deliciously light, airy and refreshing. The accompanied crushed tomato and pureed basil sauce added the needed flavor to a light cheese. The NY strip was a perfectly cooked medium rare. The tiramisu dessert was a nice and subtle ending to a nice dinner. Definitely will come back!

We love eating all over Manhattan but try to pick extra special places for special occasions. We made a last minute reservation for our 30th and I am so glad we did! Everything was top notch - food, service (thanks Diar!) and the restaurant itself. Even on a Monday night every table was full. A little noisy but it was fine for us. There’s a parking garage right across the street if you don’t feel like trying to find a spot on the street. Definitely on the pricey side but worth it! Will be going back for sure.

My son and I were in New York for three days. We ate here on the last night and it was outstanding. I asked the server about the blackened swordfish and he said it was outstanding, I said ok I will have that. It was the best swordfish I have ever eaten. Very large piece and blackened and cooked to perfection. My son had the tuna and said it was also outstanding. Started the meal with a good salad. If I am ever in New York again I will definitely dine here again. The waiter was great.

This was our second visit to this restaurant and we were not disappointed as it was, if possible, even better than our first. We had a pre dinner drink at the bar where despite it being very busy the service was fantastic, as were the drinks. We were taken to our table by a very friendly hostess and greeted by our waiter. The food and service are perfect we can't wait to visit this restaurant again it is a permanent choice now for every visit t We make to New York

Amazing food, great service, comfortable setting. A classic American world class restaurant. Best Oysters Rockefeller I've every had. My wife had a tuna/salmon tartar (picture). Highly recommend!

Fabulous sea food restaurant. No cheap but well worth it. Went on our first night arrival in New York. Had the sashimi and soft shell crab to start. Both fabulous but sashimi was exceptional. Followed by the sea bass and Dover sole which again were both fabulous but the sea bass was our favourite. Delicious cocktails and great service (Don I think was our waiter). Despite our jet lag had an amazing memorable dinner. Thank you.

Good was amazing. Service was incredible. Food was tasty and looked amazing. Oysters were wonderful. Great seafood and fish. Great ambience.

We chose to eat early one night and notice this restaurant not too far from our hotel. We thought to give it a try and are very glad we did. The staff was very attentive and was extremely helpful in our decision making. My husband had a fish dinner that unfortunately I don't recall, but I ordered the Spaghetti with Vongole. The portion size was perfect, the right amount of spaghetti mixed with pieces of clam. The dish was topped off with 5 small clams. My only complaint was that the full clams were a little sandy, which took away from my thinking the dish was perfect. I would definitely return even though this dish didn't quite make it the best.

This restaurant never disappoints. Timmy and Ben at the bar are simply fantastic! The food is incredible and the service is 5 star! I bring clients here 12-14 times a year. It's my go to!

I was recently in New York and had dinner here two nights. The food, wine and service were of the highest quality. I would rate it higher than 5 if that were possible!

quality is what you expect from a restaurant at that level in New York. Prices are high but within the norm. Ask for a table more in the front of the restaurant, the room in the back is nosier.

After going to the restaurant many times...the bartender overcharges me...and says he would get fired if he did not gouge me on bill..that is a lie....a beautiful woman next to me got comprd.....and his attitude IS THE WORST1 FOOD AND DRINK IS NOT SO GOOD...BE AWARE OF BEN OVERCHARGING YOU!

We went for a dinner and the food was amazing! We started was oysters that were fresh, salted and flavorful. The main course was pasta with crabmeat, delicious! The waiters and all service were perfect. We’ll be back soon!

Worst food ever!! Very $$$$....didn’t mind the price if the food was good (good is average to me). I had the spaghetti with clams (Qty 4). The pasta was overcooked and drowned in butter. The microscopic clams mixed with the pasta tasted worse then canned. My husband had the Salmon he was unimpressed but hungry. This is the first time I’ve reviewed a restaurant and I am only doing so to save others from this place. The only thing nice I have to say is that it was clean and the staff was courteous.

I am an Upper Eastside resident who has been temporarily relocated to a midtown hotel following an unfortunate flooding event at my home. That hotel is next door to the Sea Fire Grill and as such it is not uncommon for me the have dinner at the bar there. Ironically, i was at the Sea Fire Grill not only the same evening Steven L wrote about, but I was in fact, one empty bar stool away. I can honestly say that in decades of eating out and working first in retail and then as a litigator, I have NEVER seen a more arrogant, boorish, egocentric, self absorbed performance as that of the reviewer, Steven, who wrongfully and outrageously slandered the bar tender. I watched and heard the ENTIRE INCIDENT! "Steve", getting ready to leave, asked for his bar tab which was given to him. He looked at it and called the bartender over and in an overly loud voice said, " you charged me for 4 drinks!" I assumed he hadn't had 4 drinks because he was so of obnoxious about it but in fact when the bartender mentioned that he had in fact had 4 drinks, he said" I know that but I've been coming here all year and I deserve a free drink and I saw that you comped the woman next door to me one of her drinks so why don't you do it for me I'm going to give you NO tip and a lousy review." I was stunned as was everyone at the bar!! The bartender explained that the woman who had left had been a patron for almost a decade! Stevie would have NONE of it and demanded to see the manager who coincidentally was about 6 feet away. The manager courteously and professionally spoke to Steve and in fact had 1 of the drinks removed from his tab and reran the check. When the revised bill was given to him, he pointed at the bartender, wagging his finger at him instructing him on the future what he expected and how the bartender should learn how to do his job. The bartender requested that Steve ( assuming that's his real name) not lecture him how to do his job at which point the oaf said , " that's it! NO tip and you just bought a personal negative review!" and stormed out like a prima donna. At no time did Ben the bartender or any other employee ( or patron) of Sea Fire behave in any manner other than courteously and professionally. Steven's tirade was despicable. Frankly, if I were ownership, I'd ban him from the premises for good. On the upside, the food, drink, service and ambiance were all outstanding: Dinner and a show, as it were!!

Reservation made online, on arrival we were greeted by friendly staff. We were shown to our table immediately. The atmosphere was really nice, relaxed and friendly. Tables for two are a little close to each other but not too intrusive. The staff are really attentive and checked in on us frequently throughout the meal. The wine list was pretty good, we tried a nice Sancerre. The food was really good. The menu was relatively small yet still had great choices. The lobster salad and the crab cake appetisers were superb as were the entrées. We had swordfish and the pasta served with crab. Deserts were also lovely. We tried the crème brûlée and the pecan pie. I really do recommend this place. We simply could not fault the experience.

Sea Fire Grill This GREAT midtown east restaurant serves delicious steaks and seafood in lovely surroundings. Sea Fire Grill was such a truly wonderful dining experience that we returned the very next evening as well. The wedge and Caesar salads were fresh, tasty and perfectly dressed. The salmon was prepared exactly as requested and was fresh and well executed. The NY strip steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The French fries and creamed spinach were yummy side dishes. As satiated as we were (the cuisine was not only excellent, but the portions were huge), we also had scrumptious cheesecake for dessert. If the delectable food and upscale ambiance were not enough, the service was FANTASTIC as it was utterly warm, attentive and wholly professional. (Extra kudos to Manoel who elevated an already terrific dining experience). It is very rare that we go to the same restaurant on two consecutive evenings, but Sea Fire Grill was so great that we made an exception. We highly, highly recommend Sea Fire Grill!

We sat at the bar and ate a perfectly cooked steak with Brussels sprouts and a cold drink. If you’re fortunate you’ll get Ben to serve you- he’s a real pro. Amazing.

We always stay just down the street from this restaurant but somehow we've overlooked it in the past. Never again! Waitstaff were amazing...kitchen even allowed us to split a steak...with the halves cooked differently -- where in the world does that happen! Chocolate Martini was amazing!! I'll be back soon!!!

We had originally had reservations for 8 pm on a Saturday night, we asked to be seated earlier and we were able to get seated at 6 pm instead. The service was good and the food was wonderful. I had a New England Clam Chowder that was fantastic (one of the best I have ever had). The Risling by the glass was very good. Everything we ordered was very good. I can understand why this restaurant generally gets great reviews. By the time we were finished with dinner, the restaurant was completely full and the reception area was packed. If we had kept our original reservation time, I don't think we would have been seated on time. I agree with previous reviews, the prices are quite dear but the food is good.

Very welcoming staff. We went early without reservations for half price oysters and champagne, then had dinner in the bar. Food was very good. My friend had pasta which she enjoyed, I had branzino and that was delicious. Turned out to be expensive meal but we enjoyed. Would certainly return.

I took my bestie for her birthday celebration this September. The food was excellent, delicious, fresh and hot. They also gave her a creme brûlée as well and sang Happy birthday, Our waiter Benson was very attentive and polite. Fine dining at its best. Even though it was nosy we enjoyed ourselves and took food home.

this sea food place is an extroardinary restaurant, i have been here with my family and i am so hapy we made this choice thank you all to the amazing staff and the tasty food everything was amazing

Our servers Milton and Diars were superb in every way, helpful without being intrusive and genuinely caring in their excellent service. The food was outstanding from appetizers to dessert. Lovely ambiance allowing diners conversation. I would return tomorrow evening if I could, it was a thoroughly enjoyable meal.

Business dinner for six, early, 5:30 PM. Big table in the back, very few others in the restaurant at that hour. The wait staff pretty much ignored us. At any given time there would be a group of four or five upfront, having the most interesting conversation in the world. And we could not get their attention or our waiters attention. For the amount of money we were spending, he could’ve dropped by a few times. I entertain for business in New York frequently, first time at Sea Fire Grill, and the last. Oddly, did a business dinner 2 nights earlier at a sister restaurant, Benjamin Steak, and it was excellent. Might want to some of that staff uptown

This was our first visit and we enjoyed it very much. Started with scallops for me and shrimp cocktail for my husband, both very good. We each had a steamed 2 pound lobster which was excellent. Comes with no sides but we ordered a salad. Very delicious. They also offered us a complimentary limoncello at the end . Lovely. Service was excellent. Will definitely go again.

A genuinely tremendous dining experience. Oysters from both coasts, pan-seared scallops, the house’s “#1 yellowfin,” and the most delicious ribeye I’ve ever tasted. Best of all, the excellent service by our waiter Ori made this night celebrating our daughter’s graduate degree absolutely spectacular

I took my Dad here for his 60th birthday and it did no disappoint! They had clam chowder with bacon on special and it was velvety delicious. I also got snow crab leg claws chilled with dipping sauces. We both got 2 lb lobsters and I had mine stuffed with crab. Worth the $100 price tag. Extremely high quality seafood and ambiance.

begin with a dozen west coast oysters, delicious and briny. next the best crab cake in NYC, followed by lovely red snapper, cooked to perfection moist and fresh. wine list is reasonably priced and well constructed a nice reasonable bottle of Sancerre rounded out the dinner.. our waiter Diar was pleasant, professional, and made our good experience truly enjoyable.

We enjoy dining here every time we visit NYC. The seafood is always very fresh and well prepared. This visit the halibut was outstanding and the tiramisu was the best we’ve ever had. Always enjoy the fact that the noise level is very low. This visit the halibut

We were a large party, mostly family who had gathered in NYC for a catch up meal. Sea Fire proved to be a good choice in many ways. Location, excellent service, varied menu, an expansive wine list. All was fine except for the fact that we could barely hear each other across the table, much less the waiter's comments or specials. It was deafening and not conducive to an enjoyable evening. The front room/bar/waiting area was also extremely loud, but we hoped it would be a bit more muted in the dining area. It was not to be. We would recommend Sea Fire and consider going back as long as an audible conversation is not a requirement

Seafood sampler and salmon ceviche were spot on! Fish/ seafood very fresh and top quality. Squid ink spaghetti with Maine lobster was also excellent. Stylish and elegant restaurant. Excellent service . Top end pricing.

We came for thanksgiving dinner from the glowing reviews and were very disappointed. Firstly having had to wait for 20 minutes for our table with no apology for the delay, the rest just got worse. It was like we were being rushed in and our without being to enjoy the food or wine. The food was rushed, one course after the other with little time in between. You get no better sense to leave than being given the bill as dessert is coming out. Almost done, I decide to use the bathroom and the waiter tries to take away the wine I had left. The food quality wasn’t great either, the starters of Rockefeller oysters were nice but then turkey tasted processed and something which may have come from a tin and put in the microwave. Definitely will not be coming back

We were staying close by and picked this restaurant based on proximity and reviews. A great experience from drinks thru deserts. Service was slow starting but outstanding once our waiter appeared. The martini's were perfect and fast to table. I ordered the sword fish and I have never had better. It was grilled, cooked but still very moist. Cheese cake finished the evening. We will definitely visit again.

Enjoyed a great dinner with a business colleague at Sea Fire. It was a very warm night. Table toward back was nicely air conditioned. Relaxed pacing at dinner. Good service. Had octopus to start. One piece was better than the other which was a little tough at the top part. Blackened swordfish was cooked to perfhctioon and was tasty. I'd go back. $$$$. Nice treat. Wine $$$$.

Outstanding seafood, well prepared and even better served. Uncompromising quality. Fresh is the name of the game.

This was a perfect dinner. Ronaldo, our waiter from Albania, was wonderfully gracious. He made us feel very special. Every dish was cooked to perfection with a beautiful presentation. the crudo trio was out of this world. Halibut and swordfish were perfect. Apple strudel was great.

We have dined here on many occasions and it is consistently good. We started with Oysters Rockefeller (delicious), beet salad (very good), scallops (delicious), and octopus (only if you like octopus taste), For mains, we had the Swordfish, Tuna, Halibut and Squid Ink pasta with lobster -- all were fresh and and delicious. For sides, we had the truffle mashed potatoes and Caulilini (a cross between broccoli and caulliflower), both were excellent although I missed the broccoli hash they used to have. Dessert was a pecan pie with ice cream. Overall, another excellent meal. Highly recommend.

First time at the Sea Fire Grille. Excellent and very generous portions. For example, the amount of Dover Sole served as an entree could accommodate more than 1 person. Frankly, the price of the fish would have you think about sharing rather than ordering more than one. Appetizers were also very well prepared, especially the cream of mushroom soup and salads. Worth coming to if in NYC but be prepared for a steep bill.

My husband and I celebrated our Anniversary at the Seafire Grill. Our dinner was delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection! The restaurant is so lovely. We were especially lucky to be seated near the beautiful fireplace. As always, the service and attention we received was excellent. Our favorite restaurant in NYC. Thank you for a fabulous Anniversary dinner! We will definitely be back soon.

Outstanding fixed price lunch with first class food, service and ambiance. We happened to be on the East Side and selected this restaurant because of menu and ratings. Not to disappoint. Service was exceptional and everyone was so friendly. Food could not be better - we had fish entrees. I am sorry I do not live nearby as this would be our go to place!

My husband brought me here for my birthday. What an amazing place. The ambiance and decor was outstanding. Our server Benson provided us with exemplary service. He was attentive and made us feel very special. This restaurant is by far the best restaurant I've been to in a long time. The food was delicious and we received 5 Diamond service from Benson. One of my best birthday experiences ever. I enjoyed it immensely and would definitely come back and recommend this place to friends and family.

Whenever I come to New York I try to have dinner here at least once. I was visiting in October and the restaurant was excellent in all respects--food, service and wine. Highly recommend!

New York is an classic offering up superb food of the highest quality and with attentive, professional service. Highly recommended.

Absolutely loved everything about this restaurant and I am not always easily pleased. The ambience--it's warm, dark and inviting as you walk in. Delightful hostess- you can tell she's smiling behind the mask! I was led into a gorgeous room with a fireplace sending great heat into a lovely room. White linen tablecloths. Wait staff perfectly trained. This was the best meal I've had in NYC in a while. I sent them an email telling them so. First- my waiter Nick from Albania was fantastic. Sweet, knowledgable and personable- he was the perfect server for a solo guest like me. He made me feel "seen" and interesting. Knew the menus inside and out. Nick is a real keeper (hope you get him as your server when you go!). My food was wonderful. Oysters- fresh Blue Points. Salad- light and divine with goat cheese and dried cranberries. I wanted the black ink squid with lobster from the time I googled this place. I got it and it met and exceeded the expectations that I had. Oh, I missed the calamari appetizer-- best I've had since I was in Barcelona. What a satisfying, wonderful meal all around. You just know I'll be back- tell your friends.

Wow. This is part of a chain of restaurants and while we knew that we read the reviews and ratings and decided to try The positive reviews were correct and this is a gem not to be missed. From the first moment we arrived we felt at home in the urban modern setting. The menu is varied and offers some thing for everyone. Starting at Cocktails I enjoyed one of the best Manhattans ever and my wife’s dirty martini was on point. We shared the Burrata appetizer which was brilliant. Fresh and just the firm side of runny inside and oared with fresh fig and prosciutto this was well worth the price. My wife enjoyed the rare yellowfin seared to perfection while I dined on blackened North Atlantic Swordfish. We shared a side of asparagus. The character, freshness and quality of each dish was above reproach. If I had any criticism is the my portion of swordfish was larger than I could finish! I enjoyed a glad of Sancerre with my dinner that was outstanding. Finishing the dinner we shared the pecan pie with ice cream with our coffees. Dinner totalled $230 with tax but before tip and worth every penny. My greatest complaints got to our server Aldo who allowed us to move at our pace and treated us as family. This is rare but to be honest was the feeling we experienced from start to finish. My friends there is a good reason why this spot is in the top 100 in New York!

This was our first time to Sea Fire Grill. We went out for our wedding anniversary and wanted to try a new restaurant. Our entire experience here was incredible, from the moment we ordered our first drink until we left at the end of the night. The bartender, Ben, lived up to prior reviews we read about him. He was engaging and funny and created a great vibe at the bar. After we moved to our table, Ben continued to serve us both cocktails and our food, which was delicious. Additionally, the level of attention paid to us was unmatched. The entire staff there was attentive to us, good humored and just made the entire night an unforgettable experience. We will definitely be back again.

This is probably the best seafood I have ever had. The service is fast and clean environment, the staff are professional. I highly recommend

3 of us went to the Sea Fire Grill for Christmas Day. We booked a table for 3pm so were there at a quieter time. All the staff were really lovely, so friendly and helpful, it made our Christmas day abroad feel special. The meal cost $550 before tax and tip, and around $250 of that was alcohol so overall the food was pretty reasonably priced for a nice seafood restaurant. Our waiter was really attentive and helpful without asking too many questions, he always kept our drinks topped up. The only thing I would say is that if you're European then the seafood is more Americanised than we would necessarily be used to, cheese with things, heavy sauces and side dressings so you just have to be willing to take things as they come. I'm lactose intolerant and our server was really clued up and the kitchen were brilliant with making sure I had a dairy free meal so that was really reassuring. Overall we had a great time and would definitely recommend a visit for anyone looking for something a bit special.

Sea Fire Grill is lit! impeccable service, with a sultry dining atmosphere, this is a fabulous restaurant. Make your reservation for 6:30 and start out at the bar at 5:30 for a cocktail and the delicious $1.50 oysters(ends @6.) Make sure your table is in the back fireplace room! That is the most beautiful area to sit. ( but a bit loud) The front room is too brightly lit and ordinary. The squid ink pasta was loaded with lobster. The halibut was fine, nothing special, but the grilled octopus was perfectly charred.

My favorite restaurant in NYC do to the exceptional service and amazingly fresh seafood. The Sea Fire Grill provides exceptional sea food and steak with an artistic flare. Our favorite waiter Val is so perceptive and attentive. For appetizers we had the Spanish Octopus and grilled calamari- they were both delicious- My oldest son had the blackened tuna and my younger son had the Scottish Salmon. One taste of the salmon melted in my mouth- I had the gazpacho soup with king crab crumpets- the special it was supreme. We had Brussel sprouts as a shared side. Sweet and tangy. We were celebrating my youngest son’s birthday and Val brought a molten lava cake and all sang “happy birthday” Thank you Alex and Val for a wonderful evening with my family. If I were in charge of Michelin Stars I would give them all to you!

I’ve avoided reviewing Sea Fire because it is a kind of third place in my small version of life. I just love the ease, tempo and texture by which it moves and delivers absolute contentment. I have experienced enough to know that achieving what appears to be so simple and natural is extraordinarily difficult to actually do. This effort is similarly well hidden at Sea Fire. I am typically in the service of their holy triumvirate: Hannah, who greets with an unfailing smile and who instantly passes me off to Alex; Alex manages the room and me with knowing aplomb, and settles me into the bar well-distanced from the drunkenly outspoken current events patrons; and Ben, the professional tender of the bar (and of me) in the fullest meaning of the word bartender. This is not about the idle chit chat of filling space with noise; Ben is purposeful in his movements that ensure prompt courtesy and generosity of spirit along with a bit of the wink and a nod as voices rise to force a point where persuasiveness is failing. I am extremely satisfied with the time and space of this moment. Food? Perfect. I am not a seafood person but Sea Fire is part of the Benjamin Steakhouse Group so the prime dry-age bone-in strip with grilled Brussels sprouts satisfy completely. The wine list is really nicely curated and I have many options for my palette that leans to the big lush reds of any wine producing area. Ben finishes me off with a port, Alex shakes my hand warmly with sincere appreciation for my recurring appearances, and Hanna has long since moved on into the night. I exit Sea Fire, each and every time muttering under my breath—life is good.
Expensive - but not perfekt
We were a family group of nine who visited Sea Fire Grill one evening in October 2024. It was a strange mixed experience of both really bad and really good. The reception was terrible. We were greeted by a younger woman at a counter just inside the entrance. She was unfriendly and arrogant and we were close to leaving the place. However, we were shown a table and the waiter proved to be both friendly and helpful. My starter consisted of a salad with lobster meat and a very mild dressing with grapefruit juice. The dish tasted ok, but lacked a bit of character; salt and acid would have dressed it up. My main course was the fish of the day which was sea bass and it was excellent. Perfectly fried and juicy. The dessert was creme brulee, and it tasted good enough, but the texture was weird. Was starch used to thicken the cream? Sea Fire Grill is not a cheap restaurant and for the price we paid, the evening should have been better? Will we be back? No, I do not think so.
