Fresh and Delicious

By TL |

Pleasing our party was our servers main goal and he succeeded. He took it upon himself to hand make iced mint tea for a friend. The menu and wine list is diverse and interesting with delicious surprises.Don’t miss the eggplant chips! The entrees were hot ,fresh and generous.A great spot for a relaxing evening!

A lovely small Greek restaurant with superb food and reasonably priced wine.

A trip to the new Home Depot had my wife and I across the street from Sea Salt. She spotted the restaurant and looked online at the menu. It was interesting and she loves "Greek style Lemon Potatoes". Super decision because the chef-owner, Erton, is a pro at cooking the fish we enjoyed. I had the salmon and my wife had the halibut. The fish was cooked perfectly and the sauces outstanding. And yes, the lemon potatoes were perfect too. Diners around us were ordering a multitude of Greek specialties and clearly enjoying them. The bread served was grilled and seasoned. Could have ordered more, but am on a diet. I promise you, a slice each will have you craving more. While the wine list was not large, there are choices that should satisfy everyone in your party. Everything about this charming, small restaurant made for a perfect evening. It's nice to go to a UES restaurant and be able to talk without shouting over the music and other diners. And have waiters all helping each other for a smooth presentation. The tables upfront have more of a bar atmosphere and the ones in back, provide a calmer gracious experience. On the way out, I had the opportunity to chat with Erton, when he came out of the kitchen to check on the front of the restaurant. You can spot him by his apron. Clearly, he takes great pride in his preparation and presentation and his enthusiasm is displayed by his staff too. We are looking forward to our next visit and enjoying other Greek items on the menu.

Intimate, local, good service, average food

Located on bustling 1rst, this local spot has a very attractive and warm interior. Food is upscale Mediterranean with nice range of items. Presentation of meals is very attractive. Food however can be small, fussy but ultimately average. Service: Professional and attentive from a range of staff. Price: Reasonable for a NYC meal at a nice sit down restaurant. Overall: Worth a try to make your own decision. Reservations recommended like most other restaurants.

Best baba ganoush I've ever had!

I enjoyed dinner with four long time friends, it was wonderful. We shared dishes (appetizers and mains) so got to sample many, so delicious!

Phenomenal, authentic experience

If you’ve ever been to the Mediterranean and were fortunate enough to be able to get a glimpse of and experience what real, local life and dining is like (not the touristy stuff), this restaurant will bring tears to your eyes. Everything was so fresh, the flavors melded together and it was basically a religious experience. We ordered the passion fruit cocktail, a glass of wine from Montepulciano, and a red called Psyche and Eros” from Greece. For appetizers we had a crab cake and calamari (the crab cake just melts in your mouth!). For the main course we had lamb shank and lamb chops. The lamb shank was impossibly and mind blowingly tender. The sauce it came with was literal chefs kiss. For dessert we had the baklava and gelato, as well as a shot of espresso in a traditional espresso cup, spoon and all. We thought we were done with dinner and then the bartender brought us shots of limoncello. We aren’t talking crappy premade limoncello. This stuff was FRESH and the balance of tart to sweet was the best I’d had (even in Italy (sorry Italy!)). An absolutely phenomenal experience where you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the atmosphere around you. This is definitely our NYC go-to restaurant now. A wonderful experience we can’t wait to have again.

Great new spot for Turkish cuisine!

Friendly service, some excellent dishes from the Turkish salad, chopped style, to the lovely lamb kebab to the tasty baklava and delicate almond pudding. A great addition to Upper East Side dining1

One of the best restaurants in the UES with great service and amazing meals. Highly recommend visiting! The ambience is perfect and the staff was super friendly and hospitable.

Horrible, clueless staff

Our 8-year-old son has severe gluten allergies, even if gluten-free food is touching gluten-laced food. We informed the waiter of this before ordering and asked if the kofte would be appropriate, and he said of course. Sure enough, the food comes and all the kofte is placed on a piece of lavash. What was the waiter thinking? We complain and send it back, and another waiter tells us a new dish without lavash is being prepared. The replacement dish comes, and as it happens there is a tower of rice made with orzo by the kofte, and actually touching a couple of the kofte. Of course, neither waiter mentioned anything about the rice complementing the kofte having orzo. Really, a second compromised dish? At this point, we are annoyed and ask to speak with the manager. The manager comes and we begin to politely re-hash the story of how the first dish had the lavash. As our son is eating the kofte that hadn’t touched the rice, the manager tells us that the kofte is actually breaded inside and is not gluten-free. WHAT?!? Our son spits out whatever few morsels he placed in his mouth and we all immediately leave the restaurant. The manager said it was all new staff, and he apologized. But what kind of restaurant hires staff that can’t understand how to prepare - or at least explain - a simple gluten-free dish? Lavash and orzo and kofte all have gluten, and the staff doesn‘t know this?!? Avoid this restaurant. The service was poor, and if you have severe allergies, the staffers could actually kill you!!!

Attractive casual Mediterranean restaurant!

Bright space and good food combine to make this Greek/Turkish restaurant a delight! Wait staff is friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the fried calamari appetizer and the Greek salad. For second courses, we've sampled the manti and the adana kebab. Outstanding was the lovely whole branzino with lemon and capers! A place to return to again and again!

Very nice !

I met a colleague for an early dinner and the place was great. Stylish decor and terrific food. I would highly recommend that you order the halibut. It was cooked to perfection!
