Met friends in the city and they chose this place to eat. You climb up a long flight of steps to get into this small, noisy dining room with barely room to move. We were seated and after a while, the waitress came. We had questions and she clearly felt we were wasting her time, so it took a couple of visits by the waitress to get questions answered. I asked one of the staff, I guess a busgirl, about the soup. She had no idea what it was. The waitress got testy when my wife, who has a food allergy, confirmed that the ingredients in the dish she was ordering didn't have that ingredient. It didn't, but they wouldn't make any changes in the meal to suit her tastes, so she didn't order it. My wife and I split a pizza and a salad. The pizza was OK -- doughy, overwhelmed by the cheese and basically the size of a bar pizza. The salad was lightly dressed and OK. Our friends each had a dinner. One had an adult beverage, the other had a diet Coke. We were given bread first. You know how some restaurants have wonderful bread from which you could make a whole meal? Not here. Things got a little confusing with plates being handed to us and taken away. Finally, we got that squared away. At that point I tried to flag our waitress for a soda and some water for my wife. After several attempts at trying to grab someone, I got up and went to the bar myself. After a bit of a wait, the bar tender served me. A hostess or manager, not sure which, asked me if I needed something, and I said yes. I was asked where our server was, and I was told we hadn't seen her in quite a while. "Well," sniffed the hostess/manager/whatever. "We're very busy." Apparently, at Serafina, rather than staff up to be busy, you neglect and then blame your customers. The food was OK, mediocre but OK. If the service and atmosphere hadn't been so bad, it would have been an enjoyable meal. Lunch came close to $100. I don't care where you are, that's expensive for lunch, especially once consisting of a pizza, a salad, two dishes and poor service. Final word: There's better pizza at street level for half the price.

Pizzas were good but pricey given what you'd pay in other parts of the city. Staff were indifferent. No refills on drinks, no checking back to see if we needed anything. Waiter told my British husband that Italian sausage is like pepperoni, resulting in our son being quite disappointed when the pizza arrived!

I stopped in with a friend at closing of The MET. We were a bit indecisive to start as we were not sure whether others would join us or whether we'd have an appetizer and leave. The waiter was very kind, letting us take our time. The menu had so many of my Italian favorites, it was difficult to choose. We ended up sharing a starter and sharing a pizza (the flour is imported from Italy). Both were fabulous and the waiter was very gracious with the fact that we ordered light. The prices seemed quite reasonable for the area and in respect to the great quality of the food. I highly recommend Serafina's.

Great place for early drinks and happy hour at the bar. Given how expensive it is in the area this seriously provides excellent value for money in a well heeled area. Highly recommend. Happy hour 4 to 7 but you have to sit at the bar. Not a hardship as great to watch the locals come and go

This place is amazing and is ran so efficiently! Food is even better! Will always recommend if you are looking for great Italian in NY!

There is one close to Broadway theaters that we often get a dinner or snack before or after a show. It isn't the best pizza in NYC but it is better than most pizza any where.

Decent but nothing special. Very quick service. Too rushed- mains came as just finishing starters. Burrata was tasty. Pasta was pleasant enough.

I tell all friends traveling to NYC to take their children of all ages here. It has the thinnest crust pizza and is nice to have a place that isn't over the top $$

only two of their pastas are homemade- so it's pretty expensive for store bought pasta. pizza was average. restaurant is dirty- bathroom was dirty, walls were dusty and yellow benches were stained with old sweat and overall dirty. the staff was attentive but overall it needs to be cleaned and ALL their pasta should be homemade-

My dear friend, Kerry and I have always liked Serafina on the UES. Its a great stop after a day in Central Park but we have never been fans of their other locations until now... Our planned dinner with husbands and another girlfriend at this location became a celebration!! It was a fantastic dinner! The pizza, meatballs, fish, spaghetti squash pasta, goat cheese salad with shrimp, tiramisu, fruit tart and creme brulee were all devoured by those who ordered them. The delectable food and attentive service made us the happiest and loudest table of all. A most entertaining but professionally superb GM gave us a walk thru of their basement party space which looks promising. We had watched patiently for this location to be converted from a fuddy-duddy deli to a fine restaurant for over a year and it was worth the wait!

There is not much in the way of cheap eats on the Central Park East side of things, but this has a good menu and atmosphere.

A stones throw from the Met Museum, we stopped here with our 2 young daughters at 9PM on a Friday. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor lined with French doors opening on a balcony overlooking Madison Avenue. The interior was dimly lit and inviting. The table bread was room temperature and chewy but the food was very good. Our appetizer was smoked salmon served with a warm pita bread - no complaints. For dinner, we ordered a pizza with prosciutto, fresh figs, and an alfredo-like sauce that was outstanding. Highly recommended! The girls shared a single children's pizza which was ample and enjoyed. Gelato for dessert. Clientele was a mix including families and couples. The experience was good and we'll probably eat here again. Little pricy though.

Wonderful delicious pasta and oven baked pizzas, great wine selection. Attentive friendly service A fabulous addition to mid town Manhattan with a great vibe and decor

Excellent pizza, reasonable price. Very clean and friendly place! I went with some friends , but there were families as well. The waiter was very nice and kind, he did everthing to make us feel comfortable. We had a very good experience.

A short walk from the Met (at Madison & 79th) is Serafina Fabulous Pizza. You will see the name on the wall at 79th as you walk up, but don’t think the restaurant is the family place at street level on the corner! Make the right onto Madison & go up the stairs. The food is delicious, reasonable priced and the restaurant is lovely! Dark chocolate Mousse desert is to die for!

What chutzpah to call this fabulous pizza. I do not understand the popularity of this joint. The pizza isn't bad, but it's as far from fabulous as going through a TSA security line. Upstairs on the Upper East Side, Serafina has a full Italian menu. Since they promote their pizza, that's what we ordered. It was okay at best. Service was there, I think. Communication and speed were not their forte. One of the problems for the staff is the third floor, which is where we were sitting unfortunately. All food, drinks etc. must be brought up from the second floor. Also, on this brutally hot day, the tented third floor was like a re-enactment of Lawrence of Arabia, minus the desert and camels, but mimicking the heat. Why this joint was packed with happy folks is beyond me. I will not return.

Had wonderful meal here. The pizza and the pasta dished were all top notch. Go the the large room (converted rooftop) on the 3rd floor. It has a high ceiling , is very animated and great for groups. Also quick walk from a number of museums.

Went here because it was conveniently located right by our hotel. The pizza was ok, but nothing more. The crowd was mostly couples lowchatting over the tables. Didn't get much of a lasting impression of this place besides that the manager seemed like a very likeable guy from the few minutes I talked to him before we left.

We ate here before in 2013 and returned today. Great italian Food, pastas and salads Really good enjoyable food

The hostess and our waiter did seem a bit disappointed to see us in their restaurant; but the service was fine, if not particularly friendly. My husband and I shared a Caesar salad and the Alla Norcina pizza, both of which were great. Our friends had the lentil soup and split a pasta dish - can't remember which one. All of the food was excellent. They were out of my first choice from the wine list, but my second choice was good and served at the right temperature.

A small and crowded little space on the second floor, at a walking distance from The Met. Average italian fare with reasonable Pizzas and noisy and reasonable service. Not a dining experience but will do if you need to rest your feet and fill your stomach for a rather reasonable price on the upper east side.

The truth is the food here was better than the service. The concierge at The Surrey Hotel recommended the place and we walked three blocks for lunch. Upon entry we were shuffled past the nice air conditioned dining room to the upper level where the kids and families were present. This space has a tarp over the upper level and while they may say it is air conditioned, there was no evidence of that. It must have been 83 to 85 degrees inside (with no breeze of course). I was miserable. The food was okay. I was put off by shoving us into the lesser space when nearly the entire fine dining area was available when we arrived. No consideration for guests with the temperature of the upper level. I'd never go back.

My 6 year-old had the children's menu. The bottom of the menu states dessert chosen off the menu (see photo). No mention of additional charge. When I argued this with the manageress (Italian lady with glasses) she stated that it's clear there's an additional charge- even if there's no mention of price on menu! and refused to give me a discount. THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS WRONG AT THIS PLACE!

Do not get pasta. Pasta lacked flavor and was dry. Pizza was good just overpriced. When I asked about a recommendation, the waiter said he didn’t taste it. Atmosphere was good

don't know what the fuss is all about?! by the time we got the pizza delivered it was cold and blah!

Got caught up Sunday in the terrible rain and headed there for lunch with my nieces and sister in law - a few cocktails and some lovely food - salads & pizza and Pasta great service - friendly and highly recommend - family friendly

Pros: Ambience was fun, very NYC'ish, support staff was wonderful and friendly and helpful Cons: Hostess was very unwelcoming and waitress never checked with us again after ordered. Red sause drowns some delicate dishes. Not for a family with children visiting. Experience below. I like the setting, up the stairs overlooking Madison Ave. was fun. But. I expected a bit more with the $20 minimum per person. A middle aged lady at the entrance, long dark hair seemed to be the hostess but did not seem happy to be there, no smile the entire time, I did not feel welcome. She brought us into a bare restaurant and began to seat us against the wall when there was an open table for the 5 of us by the window. The waitress suggested the window table to us, urging it and the one already seated and the rest of us just followed her lead. The food overall was very good. Four dishes were ordered and I really only have a comment on one. The Crepes.....too much red sauce. (Possibly a tad too much on the lobster ravioli but it was very good) It overpowered them so much that I wouldn't order it again. Oh, and my iced tea was the size of a small coctail as was a seltzer with lemon. Service was confusing. Our waitress took our order and delivered our small drinks and she never checked on us again. We had to ask bus boys for water, more bread, more wine. Oh, they went to retrieve the waitress to order the wine. Towards the end of the meal, another gentleman seemed to take over and was attentive. I had seen her standing over by the little bar seeming to be watching her tables, not that there were many customers, but she never once checked on us the entire time we were there. Annoying. I think if you want to charge the price and want return customers you need to make sure each person is doing there job. I will not return with my out of town guests and will not recommend at this time.

This is one of my favorite Italian restaurants. Their pizza is perfect. Thin crust and not too thick with cheese.

After walking for two hours through Central Park, we were starving. We walked over to Madison Avenue and just kept walking. We spotted Serafina.Fabulous Pizza just below 79th. We were escorted up to the third floor and encountered the most shapely gorgeous hostess. (OK I'm a senior but I'm not dead) However, it was the food that was most impressive. I ordered the Stagioni which I shared with my grand-kids. My daughter had the excellent Pancetta Pizza and my son-in-law had Stolichnaya Penne. We followed with Affogato. Everything was delicious and the service attentive. It is obvious that they really care of quality, flavor, creativity, ambiance and fine service. And then there was the hostess... I digress.

My friend and I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art early in the day, and we were craving a satisfying lunch afterwards, as we were pretty hungry. This restaurant is quite close to the museum, so I recommend it if you want to stay in the area and grab a quick bite to eat. The pizza was quite good - we ordered one Margherita pizza (6 slices) and shared it between the two of us. I really enjoyed how the pizza was very thin, so it was very crunchy. If you like to eat a lot of pizza, I would suggest probably ordering a whole pie to yourself - because the crust is so thin, it is less filling than thick crusted pizza! The atmosphere was very cute and comfortable. We decided to sit at the very top, and the terrace was lovely with its home-y feeling decorations and bright yellow interior. However, if you are craving some air conditioning after a hot day in the city, I would recommend sitting on the lower levels of the restaurant. Service was pretty good, very similar to other restaurants! I would definitely come back if I happen to be in the area!

My mom and I came here for dinner after visiting the MET. Let me just start off by saying, the Espresso Martini and the Tiramisu are to die for! We had an excellent experience here and the staff are super fun and friendly! Would definitely recommend!

Excellent pizza, very good service. Have eaten at three different locations, different feel, but all have the same great service and pizza"

If you go here, go for the Pizza, as with most of New York the Pizza is good and it is at a reasonable coast considering this is a restaurant. However other dishes on the menu, especially the pasta and risotto dishes are way to expensive for the quantity and quality we received.

The Serafina is a great spot, with good pizza, fresh ingredients and good service. Their Cesar salad is also super yummy.

If you want to pay extorsionate money for pretentions food, which does not live up to fabulous expectations and be treated like a second class citizen this is the place to go. The waiter was not only rude and unhelpful, but he also made a point to cater for other customers and ignore us. He also tried to make us feel bad by snatching the wine list off my hands when we ordered diet coke. The atmosphere is not great either. You will be better off going to Domino's where at least you will get properly fed.

Stopped at the Serafino Fabulous Pizza on Madison Avenue for a late lunch. Seated promptly at our table near the window on the 2nd floor. Ordered drinks (1 Malbec $13, 1 Perone $14, 1 Naked Martini $15, 1 Hendricks Martini $14) and all were excellent. We then ordered appetizers (1 Porto Cervo and 1 Crostini di Sophia $14). I tried both and they were delicious, The Crostini had the best prosciutto I ever tasted. We then ordered the Ravioli Innamorati ($26) which were lobster filled, heart shaped ravioli in a red lobster bisque sauce. Perfect. Friends ordered the Ravioli Salvia ($19) and the Pasta Alfredo ($18.50). Everyone raved about the meals. For desert we ordered the Tiramisu ($12) and the Profiteroles ($12) and cleaned the plates. Perfect food, great atmosphere and wonderful service. Highly recommended.

You can get a good fast chicken salad or other "real" food while your kids load up on thin crust, delicious hot from the wood-burning oven. And if you're here on vacation (I live here) you can be satisfied and out the door and ready to explore some more fairly quickly

We were so excited to find this place near The Metropolitan Museum of Art. This area is a food desert! Food was just ok. They charged extra for iced tea refills. Not cool. They seated us on the third floor, so we had to climb even more steps. It was so hot & noisy up there. Coming down those steps was treacherous, they are slanted and slippery. Once was enough!

Serafina Pizza is awesome! The ingredients are super fresh and the atmosphere is really nice. Try the pizza with burrata cheese, it's a little on the expensive side but it's totally worth it!

This lively neighborhood trattoria is always bustling. The pastas and salads are consistently excellent and always perfectly seasoned.

Amazing pizza with fresh ingredients. Thin, European style pizza, beautiful salads and excellent wine selection. Airy glass upstairs is wonderful on a sunny day

We arrived about 10 minutes before the opening time of 11 a.m. There was already a line of people waiting. Restaurant is on the second floor of the building with some fairly steep stairs. My spouse was unable to climb the stairs, so I went up and asked about an elevator. There is no way to enter this restaurant if you can't climb the stairs. Not sure how that is ADA compliant for people with disabilities. We ended up ordering a pizza and salad for carryout. The hostess said we could use the tables on the sidewalk, but it was in the 50s, so we ended up going back two blocks to our hotel. Pizza and Caesar salad were both good. We just split both because we didn't have anywhere for leftovers. Outside of the stairway issue, a great spot for a quick lunch or dinner. Pizza was $22 and salad was $17, so also not terribly overpriced for NYC prices.

The pizza here is the closest I've ever had to pizza in Italy. High quality toppings and crispy crust--the sausage and mushroom was particularly good.

This place is a welcome respite if you've come from a long walk, shopping or museum visiting. The food is tasty, and prices reasonable for upper east side. Down sides are the single restrooms (I found it free upon my third attempt and my party had to wait for one), and the tight spacing of the dinning tables. I got bumped into by wait staff and had to tuck myself in regularly to avoid being brushed against. If you can, sit at the windows or against the wall. Staff not overly friendly or personal but they did speak Italian and we're attentive.

The restaurant setting is lovely. It is upstairs on the second floor of a street near the Met. A long window takes up most of one wall. White tablecloths and intimate tables. This was my first formal meal in NYC so I didn't know whether the way we were treated was just the NY way or if this particular place was rude. After spending 5 days and several meals in this lovely city, I have to say only this restaurant was rude. We were ignored for a long time. We ordered drinks and they took forever. We waited more to place the order. We asked for bread - no bread. The food arrived VERY quickly, which was great. After that, we were back to bad service. The only other time things happened quickly was after the meal. It seemed like they couldn't get us out the door fast enough. We arrived at 4:00 in the afternoon. There was no line and nothing particular was going on to merit the rush out the door. We will not be back. Now, as to the reason I rated them average? Their pizza was top-notch.

I ordered a pinenut pitza. It tasted fresh. I loved the thin crust. Also the chocolate mousse cake for desert was fabulous, just a little pricy ($10 for one small slice). Overall great food.

We had just very standard plates (pizza quarto station and pasta bolognese) and still it was an amasing experience. Waiting time was quite long however, but it's true we were there for St-Patrick's dyad place was fully booked. Try-it whenever you are in the area.

Had lunch there twice. Ordered the seafood special pasta which had lobster, shrimp, scallops and clams...came out with a FULL LOBSTER...unbelievable

Had a meal there 2 nights ago and I can say it was one of the best meals we have had in a month long trip around America. The only disappointment was the staff who placed us down the back and showed little effort is service maybe due to the compulsory 20% tip. 5 stars for the food and 2 for the service especially since the tip was over $50.00.

The upstairs room is bustling and rather cramped, but the good atmosphere makes up for this. The pizza was excellent, and the ravioli with sage and ricotta just right. The only poor point is the wine which is so expensive that only a rich fool would be taken in, so stick to water or beer.

Came to Serafina for a nice lunch before visiting the Met just around the corner. Excellent spaghetti bolegnese (not on the menu so you need to ask for it). Although the food was really good it was very overpriced as was the wine. We wouldn't have minded the price had it not been for the poor service. The waiters were grumpy and not very helpful. When we paid the bill we gave over our money and were in the process of sorting out the tip when one of the waiters came back to ask where the tip was! He was pointing to the receipt saying that he knew we weren't from around here but a few dollars was not enough! I politely said we were going to leave the full tip on the table. I thought it was extremely rude and left us both with a sour taste at the end of an otherwise nice meal.

We came here because it was one of the only restaurants near Central Park that seemed to have decent prices. It was okay. We were seated right away in a cramped little booth less than a foot next to the people next to us. We heard a lovely chat about their sex lives which was not great over lunch. We spilt a pizza it was perfect for two. It had a really good taste though it had a little too much grease for my liking. Also loved that they baked it in a brick oven. Pretty good and not too badly priced if you share. Being that close to others while eating made me slightly uncomfortable though and took away some of the enjoyment. Fast service and good food though.

After enduring rude people at the Alexander McQueen exhibit, many people were collapsing around us at this up the steps & hidden away pasta/pizza tiny restaurant on Madison Ave.. Prices were all over the place, but the food was good....no..it was great...how close are we seated next to the next table? We recognized each other from the Met and chatted over lunch. Pizza (baked in brick oven) & salad was wonderful, as per the table to our left. Tiramisu was so perfect on our right, we ordered the same dessert. We ordered special pasta dishes @ $24 & $28, shrimp lightly tossed with olive oil, asparagus and cherry tomatoes:Perfect.!! Light Tomato sauce, tuna (NOT CANNED), olives and chopped arugula...wonderful! How tight was it?? OK, I laughed and noted the servers need to let the person sitting in booth "out of their pen" Packed, busy, good choice of pizzas (DOZENS) and toppings..attentive servers. Tab for 2 @ lunch, charged for refill on diet coke & dessert?? $76+ tip= $90...woman next to us...lunch for one? $54..she had a glass of wine...yes, were seated that close...but will return. Families were waiting for tables, worth finding this little place and leaving your strollers downstairs.

I went to this restaurant with my family, and we instantly noticed the waiter's poor attitude, it was followed up by our water not getting refilled and no check ups on how we were doing. The pizza was average, but the horrible customer service that made us feel completely unwelcome, was, to say the least, uninviting.

Thin crust and they deliver. This is the real deal.

I had a chicken salad and a pizza. Everything was very good. But the menu doesn't tell that for lunch only salad and pizza are served and the two ladies next to us left when they heard that. the waiter Maria was very nasty. As you get to the place there is a bad smell due to mold or something similar.

This place is not worth the visit. We stopped on a cold night hoping for a great authentic Italian meal and the experience was not the best. The pasta was tasty but not al dente. The place is small and rather too crowded. The service is slow yet they have a small dining area to cover. I would not recommend this restaurant.

We ate here one night and couldn't get over the meticulous prep and flavours of the food here - highly recommended!

My daughter and wife were shopping next door at Lilly Pulitzer around 11am so of course I was on Tripadvisor mobile looking for lunch options. As we left Lilly's my wife noticed the constant stream of people entering Serafina's. I had noticed it on Tripadvisor but wrote it off as it was listed as a pizza place. For my 2 days in NYC and 3 meals pizza in NYC was not on my list. But we were hungry and it had great reviews and the people just kept on going upstairs as my wife pointed out. WOW, cool place, close together tables and a real brick oven pumping out gorgeous pizzas. We each ordered varied items. Arugula & Filetto for my wife cooked perfect Med Rare, Gnocchi for my daughter, just amazing and I got the Tagliolini Di Cortinia which simply was cooked perfect. So much so that there were 2 other forks making their way onto my plate. Actually everyone's fork was wondering from plate to plate. We had Valentino as our waiter. I have to admit he was probably one of the best I have had in 20 years. He waited the perfect time while we looked at the menu, then came back and took our order. The drinks came in minutes, then bread, then food. He then waited the perfect time and visited again to see how everything was. Then again about 10 minutes later. Got to love NYC where the ART of being a waiter is not a lost cause left to a student just doing it to make ends meet. Last note, get RID of the Manager walking around with a scarf around his neck. He brought the whole Vibe of the place down and instead of visiting with tables to see how everything was just walked around timing tables to see how soon he might seat another guest. The place ran like clockwork without scarf guy.. we even saw the chef pop out briefly who had her kitchen under control. We will be back!!! Loved it.

Excellent food and the presentation was very impressive! Service is friendly and fast. Place is extremely busy all the time and with a great reason: food is consistent and well done! Brava Serafina!

I went here after spending some time in Central Park. It's a small, low key place. The service is absolutely terrible. I had to ask twice for the wine menu because the waiter got sidetracked talking to his friend. The pizza was decent but the mushrooms I ordered were horrible. It was 3 shriveled up mushrooms with melted cheese that was solidifying again because they were getting cold. If you're okay with terrible service and fairly priced mediocre pizza, this is the place for you.

A little pricy, but my pizza tasted amazing and it was a big portion. Definetly would recommend this place!

Great pizza, salads, and home-made pasta. The food is not cheap, but considering the options in the area (Upper East Side, close to Central Park), it is not bad.

You have to climb a lot of stairs to get to the 'terrace' and this restaurant. The bright yellow paint covers rough textured walls, and various pipes, which make it look more 'Williamsburg" than upper East Side. The food was good, but not plentiful. The pizza was not spectacular. The service was only OK. All would have been acceptable if prices were lower. Crowded with tourists , even at 2;30 for lunch.

It's very common in Europe to spend your lunch without any hurry at all, and Serafina is a great place to spend your time with family or friends and enjoy your time there ! The food was great, the coffee acceptable ! I was not very happy with the service, but that was my personal experience!

Very quaint location off Park Ave a couple of blocks from the Met in NYC. Service was just OK or I would have given it 5 stars, food was fantastic. The sit down area of the restaurant is on the second floor. They have an extensive Italian menu and everything looked great, I would definitely recommend!

A very nice place to enjoy a glass of wine and a pizza. Intimate and quiet so I do not see small children doing well. Service is rather cold but efficient. I would recommend for travelers visiting the met to stroll over for a quiet lunch. I am sure the locals enjoy it as well.

I had a quick Sunday night dinner here. It is a cozy place with a neighborhood feel to it. My food was above average and the service was good. The 'Al Pacino' aglio oglio pasta was just like my mama used to make.

We located this restaurant on the upper east side. We went in for the pizza that looked great but tried the traditional Italian menu instead. First impressions were that the restaurant was located on a cramped 2nd floor with a nice view, assuming you can be lucky enough to get the window, overlooking Madison Avenue. I ordered the spicy spaghetti dish, it was very good. Overall this fast-casual restaurant was on the pricey side, cramped but the food is very good.

We met friends from Rome in New York and we went to eat pizza at Serafina, a friendly place where we had very good pizza.

We visited this past week after a long day of traveling to NY from Alabama. The owners of the apartment we rented who live in the area highly recommended this location. I only wish we had visited with a bigger appetite! We had two pizza's which were the best we have had in the states. It took us back to a cafe we once visited in Pisa. We watched intently what everyone else ordered. We wish we had also gotten a pasta. The service was great and the ambiance was wonderful. With kids I would request the top floor. Without I would try the main floor. But you cannot go wrong.

Had lunch with the family. Excellent food, excellent service. The desserts were good too. My wife and I had a glass of wine each, she the Chateau Ste Michelle Riesling and I a Cabernet Sauvignon- St Francis. Both of us were happy. Our younger daughter had tennis raquet shaped pasta- she was thrilled. Highly recommended if you are at the Met and looking for a place to eat.

I never eat Italian but I was starved and tired and this was the closest place that was a nice sit-down restaurant. I'm so happy we went, because the food was surprisingly delicious. They even have a brick oven right in the kitchen! I had a pasta dish and the portion was just the right size to finish my plate. I also had dessert (chocolate mousse) and it was heavenly. I definitely recommend this place and would love to go back next time I'm in the city!

Good, fresh, fast, value. And some brazilian music. The best part: Open until late!

now this is an older location but the food is very good. The wait staff can be a bit stiff and slow but do not let it detract you from the food. I love the pizza and some of the pasta dishes are really good. The soup which I love is very good. Now this is not a cheap pizza joint. It is a bit on the higher side. However it is less than the fancy places in the area. so expect to pay NYC prices, but you will get good food in a nice area and the place is not really fancy but that is ok. I like the food. try reservations if you can. At a hotel, ask if they can call ahead for you. a nice area to walk before or after you have eaten. Enjoy.

We stumbled upon this place after walking around NYC. We had the Caesar salad, margarita pizza & truffle pasta. Everything was great! I would go back here for sure! Really small but worth it.

After going to the MET museum in NYC, we wanted to lunch somewhere nearby and saw Serafina's on our phone app couple of blocks away from Central Park. Great pasta and great staff...and great for people watching. Expect not to have a lot of room between tables and that is on a 2nd/3rd floor...but that was all part of the charm!

Just to see the rude hostess, you have to climb a steep flight of stone steps. If she doesn't want to seat you on that level, you might have to climb a second, even more dangerous, flight of stairs to get to the upstairs dining area. It's too hot up there. The tables on both levels are tiny and much too close together, and sometimes wedged into awkward locations. It's not comfortable, and there is no way to have a conversation. There are lots of great places to get pizza and pasta in NYC, but this isn't one of them.

Do make reservations. The pizza and pasta is really delicious. Nice people and though a little loud ( typically NYC) it is a fun place to have pizza and pasta.

Went here last night. I had the lobster ravioli, my boyfriend had the halibut special. My dish was delicious, but I tasted my boyfriend's dish, and it made me want his because it was even better. I had tiramisu for dessert. Big portion, and some of the best I have had. With the seating, we were in the main room when you first walk in. If you are sitting on the left side along the wall, they have to move the table for you to sit down, and every time you get out of your seat. I cannot have that kind of restriction, so I sat on the other side of the table. Yes, the seating is tight, but if you can handle that (as a lot of NYC restaurants are) this is a wonderful spot.

We stopped at Serafina by mistake. It was Saturday afternoon and the place was packed. We had pizza and was very good. We will come back if we'll be in the area.

We went to Srafina twice in our trip. Always good food, pizza, pasta or salad. Very tasty, pasta Al Dente. Try the Burrata with cherry tomatoes as appetizer and the Taglioline al Tartufo Nero. Really great.

Wow, this place is a joke. We walked in there today and noticed the menu was appetizing and we thought to ourselves it was going to be pure deliciousness. Oh my god, we were wrong. We sat down we were provided with the menu and wine list. Ordered a glass of Cab and a glass of Pinot noir. We ordered the antipasti that had the beef with some "j juice" (not sure exactly) and then tried to order the salmon pizza and told the waiter (short hispanic guy) that we want it done our way. We wanted what's in it (wasabi, basil, smoked salmon and whatever else it came with) except we wanted half cheese. That simple right? Ew, apparently not. The waiter first said no that they couldn't do that. So we looked up at each other and were like are you serious? He said because the cheese will "burn on the side." So then we asked for the arugula salad and he says the antipasti beef we previously ordered has a arugula in it. Ok, so we said, can you add extra arugula to it. He says no we can't. At this point we were getting impatient. So then we asked for a few more minutes to look over the menu. Then we decided to tell him that we wanted half of the salmon pizza with cheese and that we were ok with the cheese burning a tad. BUT, then we also requested to add chicken to our pizza. The waiter again says "no, we can't add chicken to the pizza." At this point, we just got up and decided to leave. Walked out and found Don Felipe Restaurant down the street and had no problem ordering the pizza the WAY we wanted it there was absolutely no "NO's! It's that simple folks, I'm the customer and if I'm spending money at your restaurant I EXPECT to get what I want. Which means your staff needs to bend their backs to make me happy. if your silly pizza during my visit is going to cost $$$$ you better go above and beyond to deserve my business. Here's a pic of our pizza just down the street at Don Fillipo Restaurant.👍🏻🍷😊

We saw this place while walking down Madison Avenue, the pizza was great, very tasty. Very reasonable and great food, and of course very handy if you happen to be on Madison Avenue.

What a busy small rest. Full of life and people enjoying lunch and drinks. The rest is up beat and expensive. Average bottle of bubbly is 60$. The food is so tasty and well presented.

Went on the advice of friends, it's not really outside seating, it's up a narrow stairs and in a roo with a lot of glass. Food was ok, service fine but the staff seem to spend a lot of time just stanfing around talking, even when we were looking to pay the bill. There are just too many nice places to eat in the area to go back

My son and I set out to try as many pizza restaurants as we could while in NY. We (literally) stumbled into this restaurant on a very rainy day. The margarita pizza (paid the extra for the "authentic" ingredients) was my vote for the best pizza we had the whole trip (and we had a lot!).

I went to their juice bar downstairs the first time. It was way overpriced for three types of fruit included in my juice. The size I had was a medium but came in a very small cup. The cashier charged me extra for one of my three items that should have been included in the price. The item was pineapple which they claimed was an "exotic" fruit. My total came out to be $9.10. You can get a large Jamba Juice for that price. Their pricing was in my opinion purposely confusing. Raw material was two slices of pineapple, 5 strawberries, and one slice of mango. The drink itself was worth no more that 30 cents. Would NOT come back again.

We had excellent pizza here and loved the atmosphere. It was so great, we came back a few hours later for more!

I rarely write reviews, you know as a ✨ typical lazy millennial ✨ but this restaurant, and it's staff, were SO good. I lived in Italy for some time and it is on par with the food you get there. The Truffle ravioli was incredible and if we had more time I would be coming back. The staff, especially Serena our waitress, and the bar girl downstairs (whose name I didn't get, but they were wonderful) were amazing. Although I did feel a bit bad for them having to traipse up and down those stairs all day balancing trays of drinks! Also get the garden spritz drink, it is a mighty 11.5% and delicious. I need a life time supply, stat! Thanks for a great meal for our family reunion guys! ❤️

When we arrived they had coat racks which was nice, since it was snowing and wet outside. The tables had nice cloths and cloth napkins. The pizzas were great-and authentic Italian style (with a very thin crust). The tiramisu was delicious too. Everything was expensive, but I suppose that’s the price of being in NYC.

we ate very well here. good italian food - roast chicken with spinach and rare tuna with vegetables. with a glass of wine it came to about US$85. Not bargain of the century but good value for money considering the quality was very good and the food pretty authentic. The tables are very close together so don't expect any privacy.

Serafina Fabulous pizza has awesome pizza! Enjoyed a delicious 4 stagione and the Focaccia! Great location at Madison and 79th near museums!

Great Italian in uptown NYC. Near Central Park the restaurant offers friendly staff member and great Italian dishes. The pastas and pizzas taste really authentic

My husband and I ate here tonight per recommendation of a local couple. The atmosphere is nice, but not pretentious. We ate on the third floor which is a converted roof top. Spaghetti bolognese was one of the dishes suggested in addition to what was one the menu. My husband ordered it and I ordered the lobster ravioli. Both were great. The couple that recommended the restaurant told us to get prosciutto and were glad that we did served with fresh mozzarella. Even though it was just the two of us, a large family was able to enjoy a family meal next to us as well as tables of various sizes. We seemed to be among regulars also enjoying themselves. Reservations are taken but the two of us only waited about 20 minutes on a Friday night without one. Service was attentive however we weren't in any hurry and followed the meal with a nice stroll down Madison Avenue. Such a nice evening!

After 4 days in NYC and not having pizza we found this place. The Margherita pizza was delicious. Over priced but very yummy. The pizza size was rather small for the $17.00.

TLDR: Racist staff. DO NOT eat here if you're not white- the mediocre food is not worth it. My boyfriend and I ate here yesterday around 4-5pm. I had never ate at a Serafina's before so my bf was excited to take me here as he's had takeout from the 61th st location and he's dined in at another location. We were seated right away. Our server was a brunette girl with glasses. It took her about 15-20 mins to take our food order. Initially, I gave her the benefit of the doubt- there were a lot of occupied tables. Everyone else eating in the restaurant was white besides one or two Asians, but they were also sitting with other white people. We ordered burrata w/ cherry tomatoes, spaghetti carbonara, and cacio e pepe. The waiter asked us if we wanted the burrata to come out first and I said yes. It took forever for the burrata to come out so I started to regret my decision. What we noticed was that the tables around us were getting speedy and great service... and we weren't. The servers/bussers all seemed to be attentive to everyone but us. This was apparent when my bf's water glass became empty while waiting for our entrees. My bf wanted more water so we were trying to grab the attention of our server or anyone else, but no one was looking our way. There was a guy walking around with a water pitcher, and he came to top off the waters of the table right next to us, a table of two white girls. He looked at our table and just walked away. There was no way he didn't see our glasses bc the tables of two are almost uncomfortably close to each other. No one refilled our glasses for about 10-15 mins until our server came back and got us more water. There was no way that only our server is the only one that can get us water. In all other restaurants, people are constantly walking around making sure everyone has enough water. It's not something that we should hunt down someone for. And it's even crazier to me that my bf finished his water again, and AGAIN, no one came to refill our glasses, meanwhile the tables next to us were constantly getting topped off with water and being asked if they needed anything. No one except our server asked us if we needed anything, and she rarely came to check up on us. It was another long wait to get our entrees. Once we got our entrees, my bf's cacio e pepe definitely did not have enough cheese and needed more- it was mostly just pepper. The carbonara was okay without cheese but cheese definitely would've been nice, so I wanted some, too. We tried to grab the attention of ANYONE and failed miserably, so we ended up just giving up and just kept eating because we were starving. It wasn't until another 15-20 mins in, when my bf only had two bites left, that the curly haired guy randomly came up to us and asked if we wanted cheese. By then, we were pretty annoyed. Our server came up to us and told her that her shift was ending, so another server would finish taking care of us (a bald headed guy with a beard; I think his name was Connor). She told us she would refill our waters before we go and she never did. My bf finished his food, and I wasn't done eating, but I just wanted to go, so we tried to get Connor's attention for the check, but he wasn't looking our way at all. And when we finally interacted with him for the first time for the check, he came over with the card machine and automatically pressed on the 25% tip option, which is CRAZY to me b/c he wasn't even our server and we had to flag him down for the check. My bf and I are definitely not the type of customers to be impatient or complain and be rude. When we initially sat, the restaurant was full, but we had been sitting there for so long d/t slow service that there was a period time when there were empty tables, so therefore, the poor service could not be excused with the restaurant being too busy. I have worked in restaurants/food service in the past, and it's definitely a problem that we struggled to find someone to attend to us, even our own server. We hate being those people that obnoxiously flag down a server or yell across the room "Excuse me!" It's not something we should have to do if the workers were just paying attention. Anyone that works in food service with common sense can tell when a table needs help when the people are just sitting there, not talking to each other, looking around the restaurant waiting for someone to lock eyes with them. No one was looking at us. It seemed like everyone was trying to avoid us as if we were obnoxious high schoolers that couldn't even afford to eat there. We are very non-confrontational people, but looking back we definitely should have said something to the staff or asked to speak to management, because we really had an uncomfortable experience. I don't want to assume that Serafina in it's entirety is a racist establishment, but it's evident that this location will only cater to white people, so we will not be coming here again or supporting any of the other locations.

Nice atmosphere and prompt service even when busy on a Saturday evening. Food was ordinary, simple and good. More Italian than American (hurray!). Delivery was prompt. Was told they were out of Peroni beer but saw it being served to another patron as we were leaving. Not bad at all and probably fine for a neighborhood pizza place, but I feel no eagerness to go back.

Perfect spot to go with kids. Great kids menu. Good service. The homemade tomato sauce is for all ages!

After a long afternoon at the MET we were advised to walk Madison for some place to eat. After a few blocks we saw the awning for Serafina and took the walk up. Only a staircase from the street, host stand is a floor up. One more floor up and we sat down. Just dark enough to be cozy and just noisy enough to be energizing. Waiters came and refilled drinks promptly until we got our food, got a little slower after that. Around $20 for an Italian sized pizza, one you don't share. Although you will definitely want to make trades with whomever you're with. The Margherita pizza was quite light on the basil but a small request brought more quickly. All in all, next time I happen to be in NYC, I will be glad to revisit Serafina Fabulous Pizza.

We stopped in for a quick lunch and were treated to a wonderful dining experience. This is a very small restaurant, but our server was great and the pizza was phenomenal! I highly recommend this restaurant!

Excellent pizza on the second floor amidst boutique heaven on upper east side Madison Avenue. Fair wine list. Very clean. Friendly service. Worth stopping by just to watch the neighborhood folk.

My husband and I ate at Serafina a few nights ago. It was delicious! We both had grilled salmon with mustard sauce and sautéed spinach on the side. Extremely tasty, not fishy and grilled to perfection. In fact, the waiter actually asked how we wanted the salmon cooked, which is not always the case. I like it well done and indeed it was! We enjoyed the main dish so much that we decided to order an appetizer after dinner, caprese after dinner. Again, the fresh mozzarella cheese with savory tomatoes was so tasty. Then for desert, we shared the brick-oven baked apple pie. Amazing! Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes authentic Italian cooking!

A great restaurant with small tables on two floors always full of the young and the older . The food is authentic fresh and delicious and the Pizzas are wonderful thin crust . Great pastas and meat dishes "a la Nona" like granny made .A jewel amongst many thorns good for families and trendies

We stumbled across this amazing little gem whilst on our way back to the metro. It doesn’t look like much from outside but once you reach the top of the stone staircase you are greeted by a lovely, cosy, Italian restaurant. Our food was served extremely quickly and the waiters were so friendly. We had pasta and pizza and both were excellent and tasted very fresh. We shared the cheesecake for dessert which was delicious. Overall a fabulous restaurant, we cannot fault our experience.

Like many other reviews, this restaurant was chosen because it's close to the Met. The reservation was for two, but we added another person without notice. They accommodated us instantly and with a smile despite being crowded in the pouring rain at lunchtime! Too bad the food was so mediocre. The salad came with nondescript dressing, and the pizza was right next to cardboard. It's a shame because the place is so pretty and so convenient for a visit to the Met. At these prices, you can't make this your go-to place on the UES. It's just too bland.

We have now made this a permanent stop on all of our trips to NYC! The truffle pizza is amazing, it has the perfect amount of gooey cheese, crisp crust and truffles! It melts in your mouth and your in delight! The champagne punch is the perfect combination to unwind and enjoy life whether your starting a vacation, ending a busy day or just relaxing and people watching! The staff at Serafina are amazing also- very nice and smooth atmosphere- never get rushed to leave the table or order more. It’s truly an amazing place

Excellent food! We had the primavera pizza and a pizza with Italian sausage. The service was excellent - attentive and quick. Nice stop after a busy morning at a museum.

This restaurant on Madison is within reasonable walking distance of the Met and is reasonable in price. The stairs up are a bit steep but the room at the top is light and airy. The service was friendly and quick. Our smoked salmon pizza was fresh and tasty. I think this is probably a favorite lunch spot for the locals. There used to be another Serfina's further south where we have eaten several times but I believe it may have closed.

We stumbled on this spot looking for another Italian resto and decided to try this. Staff were friendly, food was good quality and overall experience was good. This is not fine dining but middle of the road good quality food.

Like the title says, this place is okay. The staff is friendly and talkative, and accommodating too. We initially were seated on the first floor, but when we found it too noisy we asked if we could move our meals upstairs. The move was easy and I'm glad they helped us. The upstairs was MUCH nicer than the first floor, which was a bit crowded. Upstairs was a lot more airy and bright, and there weren't nearly as many people, which reduced the noise level. The pizza is kind of expensive for what it is in my opinion. They aren't that big, or thick (definitely true New York style pies) and don't include a lot of cheese. They are very Italian and if you're expecting something else then you'll be disappointed. Three of us ordered two pizzas and were still really hungry afterwards. I might go again if I'm not THAT hungry, but otherwise no thanks.

My friend and I stumbled into this restaurant while wandering around and it was sooo good. I can't remember the name of the pizza I got, but I also got a bloody mary that was unexpectedly perfect. It was probably one of the best bloody marys that I've ever had. It's pretty tight in there so it's probably not a great place to bring kids (although I think they had more seating in another room).

authentic italian pizza. nice service. lots of choices. and around the clock service. it is a bit pricey for pizza but it's NY afterall

When we visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art in February, we found that the cafeteria was closed for renovations and the museums cafes very crowded so I found Serafina's only 2 1/2 blocks away. Although pizza is in their name it is not a pizza joint - it is a very nice neighborhood full Italian restaurant. We shared their Napolitano pizza which was excellent and shared a very fresh salad lightly dressed in a simple oil and vinegar dressing. The menu is not lengthy but well chose, They also had a decent wine list. We were so impressed that we came back for dinner the next day - we didn't have reservations but we were early - 5pm - so we were seated promptly. This time we shared a different salad but I had delicious house mad gnocchi and my husband had a very nice pasta in a traditional marinara. both dishes were excellent. Service was efficient and not overbearing. We did not fell rushed even though the restaurant was filling up. It is a small restaurant so expect to be snug and near your neighbor.

After a nice walk its a perfect spot to reload your energy with a good Italian meal. The topfloor has a nice and cosy seat also during the evening. The chicken salad is perfect! Only for that I come back. Friendly service and you can even load your phone in the kitchen ;)

If I could give no stars, I would. We found this place through a Google search of places to eat near our location. Having lived in New York for forty years, I knew it was going to be expensive due to it's Madison Avenue location. What I did not foresee was the shoddy treatment right at the door. My adult child has mostly hidden disabilities but does require the use of a service dog. We have a highly trained and competent German Shepherd who stood there like a pro in her vest and boots (NYC streets can be hell on a working dog) through the entire nasty exchange with the gentleman at the door. Certainly her behavior along with the letter and our word was enough to know she was genuine. He questioned the letter from the therapist saying it could possibly be fake implying that my adult child's disabilities (some since birth) were not real. After a rather back and forth about ADA regulations and what he could and could not ask, they sat us on the third floor in a not as nice dining room as downstairs. He made it clear after his offensive, contemptible behavior that he wanted to make it clear he was seating us. We couldn't concentrate on the menu and left. I would have left at the door but left it up to my adult child to make the decision. He needs more customer service skills and needs to know that all disabilities are not necessarily visible. I will never set foot in Serafina Fabulous Pizza again.

Everything we had was absolutely delicious . Vongole pasta , seafood pasta special, porcini mushroom ravioli, and the filet mignon was especially good. Desserts were outstanding,

We came to Serafina because of the great reviews for their pizza but left really disappointed. Very close seating makes having a private conversation impossible but also resulted in a very noisy environment. We ordered the VIP Margarita Pizza but I've had better pizza at dozens of places in NY. Crust, seasoning, cheese, sauce were all just average and nothing to write home about. No reason to come back - lots of better choices nearby

Serafina had really nice food. Good thin crust margarita pizza and lovely sage ravioli. My wine was good and our appetizer of portabello mushrooms were tasty. Plates were small. Prices were very high.Head waiter flirted too much. Ambiance made one think one was somewhere in Italy.

Proximity to the Met is the main reason to go here. Disappointing food in terms of flavor and portions. Overpriced even for NYC for what you actually get here. The chairs are horrendous and the place is crammed. Pizza was mediocre. Spaghetti was good. Tiramisu was quite good.

Near Central and the MET, you can enjoy an original Italian pizza with your family. Confortable services and place.

first, they'll always want to take you to the upstairs. there's nothing there, you can't view anything up there. second, the place is terribly noisy! third, the wait staff service is bad. he didn't even bring our bread along with other things. the food is very salty. it was too touristic for us. we would not go back there.

Our family enjoyed a delicious, casual Friday lunch at Serafina's. Three of us had the spicy sausage and mushroom pizza - the crispy crust was unique and the toppings were excellent - it was a good size to share with my daughter (my husband polished off his own sans mushrooms). My younger daughter had the ricotta and spinach ravioli with marinara, which was also tasty. Tip: If possible, sit on the second floor, which has floor to ceiling views of the street below. The third floor was not scenic at all. This was a crowded place, but service was very good and the food was a good value for the price.

The service was awful and the food was just okay. Overpriced and plain. We would not return when there are so many placed to eat in NYC.

Really great! A bit expensive but it's according to the quality. We were 4 French, we ate pizza and pasta. Pizza's bread was thin and the dressing was delicious. The pasta was homed!

Warm beer, poor service- spoilt an otherwise very nice meal. The buffalo mozzarella and prosciutto was Devine. Pizza quite good.

Where can you eat after a day at the Metropolitan Museum of Art? Try Serafina on Madison Ave. It's a few blocks away from the museum and up a set of stairs. The dining room is on the smaller side, but they work it well. The brick oven pizza is absolutely excellent and recommended. We had the pizza Bianca with Arugula and red sauce on the side (an extra $5). We also tried the mushrooms for appetizer, the accompanying salad needed more flavor. Our waiter was a bit serious, but the service was timely. Go for the pizza - well worth it.

Found them on Google maps, picked for a close proximity to the Met for a more or less decent bite with proper seating. Not much complaints about food: we ordered a pizza and a pasta, both were edible enough. Could be less pricey but what the heck, NYC tourists can expect being charged through the roof. Waited for ~10+ minutes, not bad at all. Our elbows were pushing the neighbours at the tables on the the right and left, luckily they were both alone staring at their phones. Otherwise the conversation could be complicated if not ridiculous, or you'd rather have something in common to discuss with your neighbours as the place has no privacy at all. As we first entered, they tried to usher us upstairs to the 3rd floor, which appeared less welcoming. Probably this is where they send all the tourists to avoid overcrowding of the main level (second floor) reserved for the regulars. We insisted on sitting on their "main floor", where the kitchen was and pizza was actually made in the wood burning oven, which was great. Lineups at the restrooms caused a few hiccups, otherwise we were happy. Next time we'll try to find other pizza spots in Manhattan just to compare.

One of the few open on July 4th, packed full of atmosphere, excellent food

Excellent pizza and pasta 79 st and Madison upstairs. Went to Met. Museum of Art then a short walk for lunch. Busy place but fast friendly service. Small crowded space but really good food. I had the pesto gnocchi lite and tasty. My wife had salad with watercress, shrimp and mango. Really, refreshing on a hot summer day. Also had a great white wine I knew the producer Gavi. Great sip.

My wife and I had lunch here last week and was so impressed with the flavors and presentation. Service was top notch. We had three people watching and taking care of our table. Lunch was $80. with drinks. I will go back next time we are in town.

After a long day at the Met, we came across Serafina on Madison and what a treat. The mushroom ravioli was exquisite as was the anti-pasta. We were able to get seated at 8 pm, possibly because the fireworks at the other side of town were going to start at 9! Service was good, and we left very satisfied, even getting to the Brooklyn Bridge fireworks for the final 15 minutes!

It was easy to get a seat at their location right by Times Square and eat a delicious, fast pre-theater meal. I went solo and had good service with a very reasonable price.

If you're in the mood for artisanal pizza, this is your place. We enjoyed our meal here, though the bathroom left much to be desired. Luckily you can't really judge a restaurant by it's bathroom, right? I just think they need to work on it to make it more commensurate with the cost of eating here.

I guess I'm old fashioned spaghetti and meatballs when it comes to Italian food. I had a "Robert DiNiro" dish of pasta but found it too dry. My wife, on the other hand, had a pizza with mozarella and sauce and it was excellent With a glass of wine and dessert, the bill came to $60, but that's NYC!

We went to this Italian restaurant on the recommendation of a worker at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The food was good (as opposed to terrible or great) and the portions small------far too small! This isn't an el cheapo local pizza joint. The prices are Manhattan (fair enough---overhead is high in the Big Apple) but they really should improve on the size of the portions. Offering a bit more pasta wouldn't bankrupt the place and $20+ for a personal size pizza is a bit steep for the what you're getting. Bottom line, increase the portion size!!!!! Cost for 3 SMALL pasta dishes, a SMALL personal Pizza and a SMALL salad with coffee = $100

We've been dining at Serafina for years. The quality and variety of the food has always been good and the service is prompt and efficient. It is time to renovate and expand this Madison Ave location.

I ordered the marinara linguini and the tiramisu for dessert and it was amazing. The pizza is also really good. It is located just two blocks from the Metropolitan Museum of art so go there after visiting the museum for a real surprise.

Had lunch with my husband, I had the spinach and goat cheese salad my husband had the bowtie pasta with shrimp both were delicious!! Serve was great, restaurant is really nice. Would definitely recommend. Not very expensive

great meal, no rush, tiny place with a window seat overlooking the street ( upstairs ) lots of families-- saw today show reporter dining her with group. good food- enjoyed it greatly!

We went here for a light Sunday lunch and were seated immediately. I ordered the ravioli alla salvia, and my dining partner had the formaggi Italia pizza. Immediately, I could tell we weren't going to get excellent service, and I think it's because we didn't order multiple courses and cocktails (not the only time we experienced this in NYC). Sure enough, our glasses were never refilled and we didn't see our server again until he brought the check, which we had to wait an embarrassingly long time for. The pizza was delicious - the crust was thin and perfect. I'll think twice before going back next time I'm in town.

I've been here 4 times on two different trips. Twice with my wife and twice with my daughter. The setting is nice but not elegant. The service was good and the waiter was friendly. The food is very good/amazing. On my last visit I had the vegetable soup which was excellent, very flavorful. I also shared the lobster ravioli and grilled salmon with my daughter. I love salmon and this was one of the best I've had, but I have to admit that the lobster ravioli was my favorite. With every bite I would just close my eyes and focus on the taste, I was in heaven.

3 of us ate here visiting the Met. We sat upstairs and it was lovely and light. We each had a glass of wine. My 2 friends both had a special shrimp salad (big portion and lots of shrimp!). I myself had some spinach & ricotta ravioli which was amazing! We each had a latte or coffee drink too. It was all wonderful and I'd like to try some of the other locations!!

This restaurant has the feel of Italy. The pizza is delicious with thin, homemade crust, delicious sauce. We enjoyed the Portofino pizza, enough for 2. Great spot for lunch after visiting the Met.

We took our guests from China here because they really wanted Italian. It is a tight place from a seating point of view however it was obvious that the locals like the place. They have a good wine list and the pastas are tasty and well presented. They help is typical NYC and a bit brusque. Get used to it. However service was quick. And by the way my guests totally enjoyed it and were in the “clean plate club”!

One waiter was uptight. He got annoyed when one of our party didn't want water, he also got annoyed when we didn't want dessert. When paying the bill, which was split, the tip was miscalculated at 9%. The waiter was very rude. We were happy to rectify this but the waiter stormed off like a baby.

We ate twice at Serafina on Madison Ave. since it was so close to the hotel. Pasta and pizza are superb and the staff are very attentive and efficient. Good value for money.

Great thin crust pizza in a convenient location. We had an arugula salad and a pizza with eggplant and arugula. Both were very good and nice atmosphere

Located on the second floor in a bright airy space. Enjoyed the lobster ravioli. Would love to come back again

Serafina is misstating just how fab it is. I found it's Italian offerings bland and overpriced, from pizza to pasta and back. It's all a matter of taste. Not fresh enough. Institutional. I like my pizza with a good mixture of cheese tomato and vegetables. Dry is not good.

Every morning my husband would go to Serafina to purchase freshly made pineapple juice and grapefruit juice.

Pizza is thin crust style. Toppings were good, but they are light on the actual toppings portions. The crust itself lacked taste and the sauce was just ok. Salad portion was not worth the price. The seating on the top floor is very uncomfortable, stay on the second floor. Don't bother ordering the foccacia bread. It was $7.50 and was closer to a matzo than foccacia. I've never seen it prepared that way before and while it it served fresh, it cools quickly and doesn't have much taste. My soda was on the flat side and way too sweet. Service was generally unresponsive, no follow up once served. I sat with an empty dirty plate that was not cleared for at least 15 minutes while the server passed me a dozen times. I can't recommend the restaurant. Walk down a few avenues and you'll have great options. Hardly "Fabulous Pizza" for New York City.

I've been here many times as a visitor. The gnocchi is insane! The fluffiest pillows you will ever taste; certainly, you will never rest your head on such pillows of lightness. Carpaccio is ok as are artichoke salad, grilled chicken pilliard, etc. service is fine. Just a nice, comfortable, clearly popular place to eat. Seriously, forget the carbs....the gnocchi is to DIE for!

This restaurant located in an exclusive area of the city with very good ratings. The truth is that the pasta was correct, but the chicken Milanese was horrible. How is it possible not to know how to make breaded chicken? Burnt, hard and tasting of reused oil. A shame, remove it from the menu but don't offer a dish that couldn't be cut because of how stiff they had left the poor chicken schnitzel. They don't know how to fry properly, maybe they can make pizzas.

The restaurant is up a flight of stairs adorned with an Italian mural. The seating area is very small, intimate, and comfortable. Windows overlook Madison Avenue. We had Ravioli alla Salvia and Tagliolini di Cortina both of which were very good. The Panna Cotta was tasty as well with a nice presentation. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful. The one potential downside was the loud techno music. It made it hard to have a conversation and to understand the waiter.

As you would expect in NYC, a thin crust pizza is over $15. The pizza was very good, I would not go excellent because the sauce was not to my liking - it was basic unseasoned tomato - which is classic - but not my favorite. Seating is - as usual in NYC - tight. Service - as not usual in NYC - was friendly and joking. Italian beer at $6 per bottle is a good value at a NYC restaurant. Recommended for seat down pizza.

Meglio di delizioso!! We stopped by for an early dinner and were impressed from the moment we walked in. The very helpful manager took the stroller from us and carried it upstairs for safe storage, while the three adults and two children went upstairs to a comfortably appointed second floor. Fresh vegetables complemented by a balsamic vinaigrette dressing filled our salad plates. We shared a wonderful Chicken Breast Paillard (Grilled organic chicken breast served with arugula and tomatoes) and two kinds of pizza. The children had Margherita (tomato, mozzarella and basil) and the adults had a custom pizza adding fresh mushrooms and delicious olives. The sauce and crust were like perfection!! Importantly the children were given some crayons and could draw on the paper table cloth. It was a delightful relaxing meal for all. Meglio di delizioso!! Oh, and by the way, the helpful manager offered to carry the stroller down the stairs too. Enjoy . . .
Great Food/Great wine
I love Serafina. The food never disappoints. Was there for a friend's birthday party. We shared big plates of food-mostly vegetarian. The pasta is cooked perfectly, perfect amount. Service was also flawless.
