Halloween

By Alex J |

Had an early dinner, pizzas are great, ask for grappa, friendly staff... and the tiramisu is out of this world!

A great place for breakfast - really good dinners!

By ncm1965 |

We visited this restaurant both for breakfast and for dinner on different days. The breakfasts here are sublime - I had eggs benedict and my wife had the avocado - they were delivered very pretilly and were really lovely - not overwhelming but a good breakfast. One criticism, I would have liked there to be fresh orange/grapefruit juice but we were told this was not available. We returned for dinner on the last day of our vacation. I love hot pizza and have done so for many years - the hot pizza here is seriously hot and I would suggest going here just as a dare - in the old dys I went to a pizza place that had what was called an afterburner - this was hotter than that. Importantly, great and friendly service - we reall enjoyed both the breakfast and the evening experience - they also have an interesting recipe book!

Pizza and Pasta

By Steff B |

We had a variety of dishes - pizza, pasta and gnocchi and we all loved our meals. The cocktail menu was varied, the food menu was great, the food was some of the best we had in NYC and there was a good atmosphere. We had booked so didn't have to wait long to be seated (we were able to wait at the bar) and the vibe inside was great - people out for a good meal and a few drinks with family, friends and loved ones! I would highly recommend Serafinas!

Good food

By Jenya |

WE enjoyed a lunch on the patio of this restaurant, it was good menu. The weather was beautiful so everything else was good, I liked their salads and pasta.

Late lunch early dinner

By P M |

Dropped in after walking the high line trail. We were seated very quickly but then everything started to suffer. Took forever to get even water then a long time for the server to appear. Ordered a soup and salad. That took awhile to deliver and no follow up by our server so we paid and left. The food delivered was tasty but the service will probably keep us from returning.

Wonderful pasta!

By LLanghi |

Loved the lobster ravioli! It is not a fancy restaurant though, has delightfull view of the street from the third floor (or second?) and nice decoration, most important: honest prices. I just did not liked the stairs (a little claustrofobic to me).

good decent food

By jv82 |

come in for quick bite and was surprise by the quality of food. It tasted good and I received good service. the ambience is also good...late night the music is better and has a lounge feel.

Good cocktails great staff

By Peter Y |

This is an excellent place to go for cocktails and a nice dinner. I love the tuna and the milanese.located on the corner of meatpacking, sitting outside is the best way to people watch.

Good Pasta

By drsgbaker |

We ended up here when il tre merli mucked up our booking. Cosy atmosphere and good service. The starters were very nice and the pasta was great (tho my peas were overcooked). Felt it was on the expensive side for what it is - particularly the wine.

Excellent Service & Delicious Lunch

By Den |

The hostess was excellent. A wonderful outdoor dining experience. Loved the food and the service. A favorite in the Meatpacking District.

Hospitality and delicious food!

By Lonneke I |

Had a very delicious meal in this restaurant twice. Service was hospitable, time was made available for a chat and there was genuine interest. Definitely worth having a bite to eat there!

Sunday pizza

By Greener123 |

Came here after a nice walk along the highline, was a bit late for brunch so decided to have pizza, everywhere else in the area looked a bit pricey so went for Serafina. It was a nice day and would have liked to sit outside but it was very busy and there was a homeless man who said he liked my beard, I didn't want to sit there feeling like I had a new friend. Ended up upstairs, decor is kind of industrial looking but with murals on the walls... Pretty interesting. Menu is large, lots of pasta or pizza options and plenty of choices besides that. Plus they have morretti on tap.

Great place. Convenient for the High Line or Whitney

By Nellibert |

Stumbled upon this place after leaving the High Line. Sat upstairs. Cozy and good atmosphere. Staff on the right side of attentive. Good selection of drinks from downstairs bar and enough selection on the menu to cover most tastes. Probably wouldn't make a special effort to come here but thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Did get very noisy as the room filled but might be part of the appeal. I'm older than the typical demographic they attract!

3 floors of loud

By JulesVerne1 |

Where tipsy mid 20s working girls go to yell each other. Hard surfaced walls bounce back music aimed to up the volume, in the insane belief that this helps business. High prices for so so food, although the thin crust pizza is probably your best bet. Crazy prices on wine list, STARTING at around $40 and going up fast from there. Had home made tagliatelle, paglia e fino. Overcooked, came out with a red sauce in a sodden mass. Nice house made profiteroles for dessert but inexplicably served with a teaspoon, and no way to break the hard crust except by hand. We did a lot of research and there seem to be no places for a decent, quiet, well prepared and reasonably priced meal near the new Whitney. A business opportunity waiting to happen.

Good sidewalk eating

By Jon E |

Like another reviewer, this was a mid afternoon stop after walking the length of High Line. Walked thru Chelsea Market first and couldn't find any place to sit down for a drink so just wondered South and found Serafina had a few open tables on the sidewalk. Cocktails were a little expensive but the drought beers were normally priced. We shared calamari and a four cheese pizza - both of which were very good. Waitstaff were friendly and checked by often enough to be helpful. It seemed to be off the tourist path enough that many of the people walking past were locals on their way somewhere. A good number of high end cars driving past as well - not all the ubiquitous NYC taxis. I would certainly return and may visit one of their other locations in Midtown.

Terrible Mismanagement

By Beth P |

If you have Celiac Disease, are gluten-free, or have any severe food allergy, you should in NO way eat here. Management is careless with food, dishonest about their understanding of gluten-free diets, and insensitive to those with severe food intolerances. Henry, the manager, was impatient, rude, and had no interest in helping. He only wanted to get us out of the restaurant so as not to create a scene. Disgusting service, and as someone in the food industry myself, I was shocked at the disregard and indecency. I will never go back. Henry should not be given the responsibility of managing a restaurant when he could not care less about the health, safety, or happiness of his customers. Serafina cannot be trusted to take care of its patrons.

Meh.

By David B |

Stopped by for Sunday brunch after a High Line stroll. Hostess seemed indifferent, even for NYC. Service was a bit slow, but it was a busy time. That being said, waiting almost fifteen minutes for a check is a bit excessive, especially when it seemed they really could use the table. Initially, the incorrect food was delivered to our table, but was corrected quickly. Food was average, nothing spectacular.

Delicious food

By PremPod |

We stumbled upon this restaurant in our first week in NYC and really enjoyed the meal. So much that our daughter asked if we could go back on our last day. The Calamari starter is delicious and a big portion. We had a salad the first week and the Tuna burger the second week - the Tuna was perhaps one of the nicest meals I have ever had and they just lightly cooked the outside. Definitely worth a visit although I would imagine you would have to book in the evening.

Nice but not really caring

By Axel8807 |

After visiting the Whitney, we sat here outside for a snack where we shared: calamari and buffala with prosciutto and a glass of wine to our different tastes. The food was tasty and the wine right. The table was really unstable not because the floor was uneven but the tabletop was not tightly attached to the central leg and wobbled when someone touched the top. I called the server but he could not fix it, he called his colleague who was clearly aware of the issue and concluded he could not do anything about it either. We finished our wine and cheese and left.

Lunch w/ friends

By M B |

Service was friendly, on point. Location was convenient, close to the beginning of the High Line. Food was disappointing. I ordered the spaghetti squash w/ sautéed vegetables. The sautéed vegetables were in a tomato sauce so I lost the individual flavor of each vegetable. That was ok, but the spaghetti squash was mushy and only room temp. Either overcooked, or frozen and not fully reheated. Either way, it was disappointing. The friend I ate with had pasta. She ate it all but didn’t commit either way on whether it was good or just ordinary.

An unplanned treat!

By RevARider2016 |

A very happy and unplanned supper stop our first full day in America. After watching the Mets beat the Cincinnati Reds 10-2 we headed back to Manhattan to walk the High Line and when we came off, paused for a drink at Serafina - It was so good we stayed for supper! Avocado San Pietro was a delightful and light starter, setting me up well for the Shrimp, Aregula and cannelloni beans in champagne mustard sauce - would I go back? I’d go back for the shrimp it was divine with a lovely green salad on the side.

Serafina date before Broadway

By Kat and Matt |

This place is such a cute little restaurant. There are three floors with a couple tables on each floor, we first sat on the third floor at a table and got served water but moved to a table by the window for a better table, and an amazing view! What a win win! The food was amazing and it filled us up perfectly for the rest of the day.

Sunny brunch spot

By QuincyYork |

My daughter and I stopped off at Serafina having checked out a few other places in and around Chelsea Market but we settled on this one as there was a nice table in a sunny spot for people watching , the staff were happy and friendly when we arrived and they did a great Eggs Benedict!

Good

By Fm2008 |

The place is cozy and the food is very good. We stayed outside the restaurant which is charming and you can see people on the streets. The service is fine.

Great vege options!

By PamelaFSydney |

Loved the vegeatarian options and late opening hours of this fantastic restaurant.! great service too!

Good food and Attentive Staff

By Asaf S |

Came on a Friday, on the way for the Whitney's pay-as-you-wish Friday night. The location has the "new" Meatpacking district charm. We considered a few "restaurant week" location but, eventually decided on this place, though they are not with that offer. The decor is warm and cozy, the first floor by the bar was full and vibrant, we were let to the 2nd floor which was empty at 6pm, but by 7 when we left was full and crowded. We ordered the ravioli Porchini and Burger. The burger was and pasta were good. The staff was very attentive and courious, always checking and helping deliver/clear the table. best part the server made sure we will get the burger with grilled veg instead of fries, so many places will mess that. With 2 drinks, an appetizer and two main dished came to about $120, this is NYC !!!

Expensive, very basic, decent Italian

By www.DinedThereSippedThat.com |

Another half decent restaurant which gets it's good reviews based on location and trendiness factor rather than on food and service quality. 2 hostess greet you sitting in the corner of the bar paying more attention to their phones than to customers. Even the bussing staff had attitude as if they couldn't be bothered by your presence while doing their job. Waitress was much more attentive than hostesses. Great lemonade cocktail. When I ordered the mozzarella di bufala for 16$ I honestly expected the entire mozzarella, or at least a half... It was excellent quality, but only one third if not one fourth of the mozzarella ball was served. 4 staggione pizza's mozzarella was bland, talk about skimping out with only 2 slices of prosciutto. Pizza didn't even come close to my grand mothers, or even the last Dominos Ive had. Atmosphere and decor didn't add to the experience of the small restaurant, okay cleanliness. Nice terrace which goes along the corner. Unless you're specifically looking for Italian which is more expensive than it's worth, SKIP THIS PLACE! Go to Circo in midtown instead.

Good Italian food in a cool neighborhood

By M H |

We were seated upstairs because of our group size. It was very dark and a bit warm. Food was better than expected. Portions seemed a bit small but prices were fair so maybe that is the trade. Service was friendly and good. They allowed us to delay our reservation which was also nice. Probably better Italian in the city.

Italian @ meatpacking

By Maurizio S |

Nice italian restaurant. Part of a well known chain. I took a pizza that was OK. Bartender Eric, has been really good in making me feel good. If you stay at the counter you can meet other nice people.

stopped in for a quick bite on a friday night, glad we did!

By Michael S |

great casual dining, had a couple of salads and pizzas, and a great bottle of Rose, great choice! sat outside and enjoyed a nice casual experience

Delicious.

There were eight of us at dinner and we each ordered something different. It was all beautiful and everyone enjoyed their meal.

Elegant Ambiance w/Great Italian Food

By ibiza618 |

I've traveled to Manhattan extensively for pleasure and business for just about 20 years, each visit filled with new experiences, locations, neighborhoods all the while trying what the city has to offer by way of dining and hotels. One of my all time top 5 places to dine in the city has to be Serafina in MPD. Their staff upon arrival, to departure is courteous and welcoming, friendly and appealing. Let me explain. Everyone knows the typical stereotype of New Yorkers in that patience is a virtue with them and time is $. However, the manner with which you ask someone something is the manner with which you shall receive. In that, I am extremely friendly, but not a pushover. I am am witty and coy yet polite. All traits i employ when arriving at Serafina at dinner rush time with no reservation and yet their hosts sat myself + my wife down in a perfect table facing the people watching show outside of The Gansevoort in less than 20 minutes. We were directed to their wonderful bar area to wait and it was divine. Their staff was friendly, accommodating but most paramount of all they were welcoming. It felt like we were visiting friends for dinner not paying a restaurant for our dinner. Once we got sat at our table a server came within 3 minutes for cocktail orders, etc.. and he was very friendly, knowledgeable and full of suggestions for my wife that had never been to Serafina. The server quickly took our orders and lit our table candle for our evening dinner experience we were about to begin. The ambiance of the place is important in any dinning experience just the same as is the quality of the food and service, of which both were winning us delightfully thus far. The place isn't terribly large by any means, its actually quite small, but quaint and distinctly MPD yet it had a European feel lending itself to the intended Italian menu being offered. Our meals arrive, plentiful, but not over indulgent, decoratively attractive fitting the surroundings. We stayed for dinner for little over an hour and we're on our way, yet even then on our way out it felt like we'd be coming back to visit friends again for dinner, not just another restaurant. Thank you Serafina NYC for making it an amazing dinning experience.

Serafina MPD (Meatpacking District)

By KMcCorry |

Popped in lunch looking for a table for four (with two young children). We were quickly shown to a great table and the immediate service was excellent. Overall, the food was superb. I really recommend the Arugula and filet salad; it was superb and perfectly sized. The goats cheese salad too was pretty tasty. The ambience and general vibe in the place was pretty buzzed too. Unfortunately, the service failed once or twice. The good: quickly seated, drinks order taken, food order taken, all polite and efficient. The bad: our kids' order didn't arrive with the two mains and while we asked for it twice, it still took 15 minutes before it came, by which time we had hungry children and had finished our own meals (otherwise they would have been cold). There were a few apologies, but not once did anyone just own up and say it had been forgotten about, instead several, "it'll be 2 mins", when an honest statement would have been better. We were offered some bread/drinks in lieu, but the main course delay was problematic. When the check arrived they did in fairness remove the kids meal, but didn't bother to mention it or apologise. The check came to $75 and I handed over $100. I would have left a reasonable tip (probably $10+) even bearing in mind the faux pas over the offending meal, but when the waiter asked, puzzled, if I wanted change, I'm afraid that did it for me! the thought that I would tip ~30% in the circumstances was preposterous, and frankly insulting. The $5 I left was probably even too generous. In summary, nice place, nice food, a blip on service... But how many blips do they have...?

There pizza is not good

By matthew c |

I had two of there incredible shrinking pizzas .one had 4 yes 4 Olives in the pie. with pits at least give them pitted olives the rest had none.how much does a olive cost. the other pie i had was supposed to have fresh Basil on top. well IT had ONE LEAF ON IT.. I have not eating anything else and do not intend to. The least they could do IS feed you.

Meatpackers Serafina

By Dogsey |

We were here 3 years ago and staying at Ganservort Hotel and went back for the crab ravioli and it was great. Went back last night and just had drinks at the bar and had another good night. The manageress was lovely as was the bar man.

nothing to miss

By v1234v |

while the ambience n location is nice, the food is something you'd forget the minute u got out of the place. everything looked "readymade" - nothing fresh- none of the 5 pastas we ordered. (looked like i made it:) i wouldn't go back. there are loads of better options for my money!

Decent in every respect but not amazing

By slawdoc |

The atmosphere is a little crowded. They could lose a table or two to allow for a more intimate atmosphere. I would definitely go again, but one must keep expectations in check. I had an old fashioned to start - not very good. My meal was pasta with truffle oil - very tasty but too greasy. My date had pizza. Again good but not great. Service was good.

Nice space, good food

By GKS |

We visited Serafina with a private party on the 3rd floor, in a cool intimate space. Both the service and food were. great. I really enjoyed the branzino with asparagus and roasted potatoes.

Turning away customers?!

By TrawelmanSwe |

I was with a friend in Meatpacking District to get som drinks during lunch hour. Pastis was crowded but Serafina had a lot of avaibles tables. Heading over and asking for a table outside the girl says "drinks at the bar"! Didn't wanna make a fuzz so we went inside but there where no place left at the bar, not even standing up. Went back to the girl and told her that it was crowded but she didn't seems to care and didn't offer us a table (plenty available) so we left! Don't go here, choose one of the many other bars in the area!

REAL ITALIAN RESTAURANT

By Stefania L |

TRULY ITALIAN restaurant. Spaghetti cooked al dente! Large portions. VERY COURTEOUS and PROFESSIONAL Service. Very nice area.

Good Location Poor Food....

By T-KYLR |

The location and atmosphere is quite nice. The pizza we ate was barely average. Weekends are very crowded so don't expect a decent service.,With so many restaurants in the vicinity don't wait to enter if there is a queue.

Decent for the price, but not a bargain

By Mark B |

Nice, but slightly dark decor, typical of a slightly upscale restaurant in the area. The lasagne I tried was very good, and the penne bolognese looked good. The Peroni beer was cool and bubbly, and the espresso martini looked good, and even came in decaf. I thought the dessert was the best course though — the Chocolate Sensation was very good, not too sweet, very chocolatey, and with a little nut crunch to set it off nicely.

Fabulous

By Lisa M |

After walking the high line we were all quite tired and hungry when we came by this little gem. As soon as we appeared in the doorway we were shown to a table for four, made to feel welcome and given some ice cold water and menus. We ordered and the food appeared soon after, the most delicious pizza napolitaine ive ever had. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the waitress kept popping back to check that everything was ok and to top up our water glasses. This is a really quirky little eaterie with a fab atmosphere in the heart of the meat packing district. I would highly recommend.

Pretty good pasta restaurant decent service

By Allan S |

Went here after going to the Whitney. Service pretty good. Came here. In an off hour. The pastas were very well made and served warm with the server giving both cheese and fresh pepper. Prices were fair for the high quality of the ravioli and portions were quite sufficient . Thought they were quite good and wiukdcreturn

Bad service and mediocre food

By Becca3 |

Went to Serafina this evening looking for a good meal. The service was pretty bad. We were a party of four. The waiter forgot to tell us that the kitchen was out of some of the dishes, which were, of course, the ones we ordered. Then, one main dish came out 10 minutes after the other main dishes which effected the entire dining experience I would have expected at a place like this that the dish would have then been on the house or we would have been offered a free drink or dessert. The food was nothing special. I think that this restaurant is all about the Meat Packing location and not about the service or food. With so many good restaurants in NYC, I will not be going back here.

Pleasant lunch

By operalover939 |

Serafina on Ninth Avenue is an unassuming small restaurant near the new Whitney Museum. We had a plate of minestrone each, the shared a pizza and a dessert. The meal was satisfactory but nothing special. The server was courteous and efficient. Prices are very reasonable.

It’s just lunch :)

By RF |

Good place for lunch - not amazing food though decent quality. Slightly on the expensive side. Staff are really accommodating and venue works!

Great setting, wanted us gone

By cgrockco |

What a great location, great building, and good food. But from minute one it was clear staff wanted to serve us as quickly as possible and get us out. Curt at a minimum, borderline rude at times. Why the arrogance??

Great spot after walking the High Line

By dbcg |

The restaurant was a good find after walking the High Line and checking out the Meat Packing District. Busy, crowded , but a good energy. Not rushed and the food was delicious. A great find - would go back

Nice lunch

Stopped here for lu CB after visiting the high line. Sat outside on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in NYC. Had the margarita pizza it was good. Good service great place to people watch if you sit outside

Late night dinner with friendly staff

We arrived here at 9 PM wanting dinner. The staff were very accommodating making sure all our orders and drinks were prepared to order before the kitchen closed. The food was all freshly made, served hot and delicious.

Excellent lunch outside. Homemade fettuccine with cream sauce peas and mushrooms. Good Italian beer. Great people watching and tasty chocolate cake. Highly recommend.

Great basic Italian

Dropped in after a visit to the Whitney Museum round the corner. We shared a pizza and a pasta....basic but yummy! Service was quick and good and the atmosphere was welcoming.

Cozy Place with OK Food

By Klaus E |

We could only secure a booking for 9:30pm and the place was absolutely full. Having had our pre dinner drinks already we went straight into the Red Wine and chose their Ochetti Nebbiolo which was medium priced and tasted quite nice - so nice in fact that we had two bottles. For starters my daughter and I both had the very tasty Burrata - she with cherry tomatoes and I with prosciutto. My SiL had Buffaline with Prosciutto. For mains my daughter had the Cherry Branzino (sea bass), which she enjoyed but could not finish the potatoes it came with. I had the Truffle Risotto and loved it! My son in law had the Truffle with Tagliatelle, but found this too oily. I tasted it and it appeared to have a few black truffles but lots of truffle oil? We finished with a selection of ice creams and a couple of Grappa Amarone. Service was friendly and quick. The tables upstairs were quite close together, so lucky that we were all slim persons to squeeze in.

Nice space, amiable service, mediocre food

By marycontheroad |

A few weeks ago, we arrived here on Friday for lunch without a reservation. we were treated very politely and given a great table in a half full restaurant with a very busy terrace. Good wine by the glass list. My husband had prosciutto and burrata, and thought it very good. My calamari fritti were very disappointing: soggy and chewy. I had the steak which was good, but the fries were not crispy. My husband was disappointed in his hamburger. Service was very amiable and attentive.

Serafina Meatpacking delivered a wonderful lunch experience.

By GrayboyOf8 |

After walking the nearby High Line we quite accidentally stumbled upon Serafina and had the best lunch experience of our week in New York, The barman (Eric?) who doubled as our waiter (we chose to eat at the bar rather than take a table) was charming, well informed in terms of menu recommendations and also served an excellent drink. The pizza was a perfectly classic Italian style and the Serafina Chicken Salad a 'must have'. The ambience on this perfectly sunny, spring day was really relaxed and the background music was perfect.

Good food

By zannadanna |

We stopped here to eat for a late lunch. We all ordered a pasta dish and we were happy. We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful day. Nice and relaxing meal to chat over.

Really...

By geewoody |

Really, $85.00 for an average pasta with sauce, an average plain personal pizza, and flat water, oh yeah there were two salty olives with pits on the pizza. Whatever...

Slow service for Chef Boyardee meal

By Sabre255 |

My family and I came in for a late lunch yesterday. It took 15 minutes before the waiter took our drink order. He then served us warm, flat beers. I ordered the fettuccine dish in a light tomato sauce and it tasted straight like chef boyardee spaghetti out of the can. My wife ordered the foccacia with mozzarella, tomato, and prosciutto- it was soggy trash. On top of the poor quality, it took an hour to get our food. Do not go here and waste your money. There are plenty of Italian places in the city better than this.

Cool Little spot to grab a bite

By TonyLovesToDineOut |

I was staying at the Standard hotel around the corner and stopped into Serafina with my daughter to grab a quick bite. Cool little spot. The sidewalk cafe was full so we ate in side which is very small. This place reminded me of eating in Spain or Italy. Our waiter was quick to serve us. We shared an Al Porcini Pizza, Tomato Mozzarella (very good) and a salad. All were very good at a reasonable price.

Not value-for-money

By Peter K |

OK restaurant close to the famous High Line of New York. For a quick lunch we had a pizza Margharita, Pasta Carbonara and some cured Prosciutto with tomatoes and mozzarella cheese, 1 beer and 2 bottles of water. The bill went past 90 USD, which I think was like a robbery, compared to the quality of the food and their service.

Recharging after a High Line stroll

By blackeberg |

None of the restaurants in this area of the Meatpacking district seemed keen to display their menus. We picked this one as it looked nice and there was an obvious seating point where we could ask to view a menu. We sat on the first floor with nice views of the surrounding area. There was a good atmosphere with a mix of locals and tourists chatting and watching the world pass by. The service was fast and friendly and they offered to make up a doggy bag when our son couldn't finish his meal. We had tasty thin crust quatro stagioni pizzas which were large without being overwhelming. Whilst this was a quick lunch I would be happy to go back for a bigger dinner. The table next to us had particularly impressive looking drinks.

Lunch with our american cousins

By Someone |

We ate lunch at this Serafina restaurant. The fresh Atlantic salmon was so delicious and they also had good pinot gris.

Poor service - too cool for school

By Kylas411 |

Food was quite nice. Location is excellent but staff were unattentive, unfriendly and just seemed like they were above it all. Not a pleasant brunch experience. Will not be returning and would probaby put me off trying any of the other restaurants in the group too.

Fine food outdoors near the Whitney Museum

By Andrew K |

My wife and I have had a number of great meals at other Serafina locations, so we thought we'd try lunch here before visiting the Whitney Museum, a couple of blocks away. They have plenty of outdoor tables, spaced far apart. I started with a glass of Vermentino ($14) and very good. (I eventually had two glasses, which were comped because I asked a nearby suburban group of five to stop complaining loudly about the prices after they all cleaned their plates: "You can get a box of pasta for 99 cents!" one woman yelled.) Serafina is not cheap -- if you want cheap nearby, head for Hector's Diner a block away, I advised the woman, for large cheap portions of diner food. Our shared Calamari was very lightly breaded, crisp and hot, as was the delicious dipping sauce. My wife had the Serafina Chicken Salad ($21) while I had the Avocado San Pietro Salad with shrimp ($22) -- both of which were terrific. A couple of iced coffees rounded out a great lunch. Service was efficient. We'd come back.

Best meal

By Amir S |

During 10 days family vacation in NYC, he had dinners in many restaurants recommended by friends. During our visit in the meatpacking district, we were very hungry and decided to try that "anonymous" restaurant. We were 3 persons and each dish we ordered was extremely delicious. The atmosphere and service ware very good to and we were very satisfied from our random choice of this restaurant

good food...terrible service

By carrey_11 |

Since we were a large party, the waitress knew the 20% tip was factored in to the bill. She did absolutely nothing to deserve even a basic tip...one meal was not written down and came after everyone else had finished, she never checked to see if we needed anything else or if the meal was satisfactory...we had to wave staff over for Parmesan cheese and water refills. Not a smile among-st anyone working in the restaurant...with so many choices in this area, it's a wonder that people come back a second time. It's too bad with such a great location and good food that the wait staff is what brings this restaurant down into poor.

Great service and great food.

By Dogsey |

Went there on our last night, wish we had come before because we want to go back. Food was lovely Lobster Ravioli is lobster bisque. It was excellent. The staff were very friendly and efficient.

Nice

By Fm2008 |

Serafina is always a good choice when you don’t want to take any risk. The food is good, it is italian and the Service is fine. There are several Serafinas in the city. Last time I tried The Brunch and it was delicious and the prove was good.

Great food

By charlienash1 |

We ate here for lunch after the High Line. The food came very quickly, and was delicious. My only niggle was that I wanted some pasta with the Chicken Milanese, and the waitress told me I would have to order both dishes - they couldn't just cook a bit of extra pasta to go with it. Knowing what portion sizes/costs are like, I wasn't going to order two dishes just for myself! The food was good though, and I would eat here again.

Highline refueling

Stopped in for a drink and quick bite after walking the Highline. Margharita pizza was very nice and the atmosphere was pleasantly low key.

Located in one of the coolest neighborhoods NY, Serafina Meatpacking is a delight both the menu as the place itself. The service is very good, and the menu easily fits if you are with children. I highly recommend it for a lunch between friends and family.

Yum!

Great service, amazing, fresh, authentic! We were there forms late lunch on a Monday so hard to say what it's like when it's busy because I know this place gets PACKED.. But our food came quickly and it was outstanding:)

Owners/managers take a look at yourself

By Epicureously |

This should be a great bar. Good location and the meat packing area has really gone down hill so this could be the premium offer. However, we just went for a drink late afternoon/early evening and it was a joke. We entered an empty restaurant and the people who looked like they ran it were just rude with staff and punters. Too interested in their own discussions. The poor waiters who were trying to do a good job were being battered. It was real comedy. They were making everything so difficult. Soon as the owner/manager/head of ego left things really improved. Never return.

Barely Palatable, Overpriced, Grungy Interior

By MannyG2000 |

Arriving at 11:17, we were rudely told "Closed! We open at 11:30", when it wouldn't have hurt anyone to let us wait inside. I was ready to go elsewhere, but didn't want to be a no-show for the reservation, so we had to walk around until we could be admitted. The dining areas are dark and not very clean-looking, the external appearance is downmarket. We ordered three pasta dishes, which were badly-done and had very little in the way of ingredients, but premium-priced (for this type of restaurant) at $20-30. My tagliolini was overcooked and came with standing water in the bowl. The truffle taste was weak. The bill with tax came to $153, and when I paid with two $100s, the waitress had the impudence to ask if I still needed change, implying that I should leave a 35% tip.

Great place to eat

By jadewarren91 |

The food here was absolutely delicious! I had a pasta dish & my partner had pizza and they were both great! The tiramisu & creme brûlée were both great too. Service was lovely and very attentive.

Good spot, good food, service "very" friendly.

By Traveltipstg |

I have been at this Serafina for the first time: the food is very similar to every other of this chain, a simple Italian food with few little twists to make it slightly different from others, but almost all the time at good level, and this is already a great achievement. The service this time was definitely too friendly, and sometimes waiters should remember that not everybody wants to be treated like their "brother"... Young crowd and good vibe! Will come back!

Lovely Italian.

By Alan P |

After a day wondering and then having done the elevated walkway we looked for somewhere inviting, and ate here. A cosy restaurant on two levels. Good service and a view if near a window One glass of white mind, bottle of Heineken, a Serafina Chicken salad and an All Uovo pizza which was all very nice. Tot cost $63 + tip, reasonable. A nice place to try in in the area.

Good pasta, barely warm pizza.

By FNANY |

Serafina js in general a good staple for Italian comfort food. As we were in the MPD, we decided to stop by for a quick bite. The service was decent. One waiter was as helpful as possible, unfortunately our main waiter was as unpleasant as one can be. it seems he believes it is ok to make no effort in a very touristy hood. That is a mistake. We ordered a Salad, one chicken Paillard (very good) and a pizza. The pizza was barely warm! Never experienced this at Serafina before. Disappointing.

Nice meal but cost us nearly double !

By Lleeder |

Nice lunch on a hot day. Sadly on checking statement for credit card the following day, we'd been charged the correct amount and then an additional $45.18. Leaves a bad taste..... Don't let your card out of your sight if you eat here.

Great choice!

By Dawn S |

Had a great meal - something for everyone. The thin crust pizza is exceptional! Salads also great - nice selection of wines. Upstairs seating was preferable - little less noisy.

Buyer Beware

By Wander40888052195 |

My first Serafina experience was in February 2025 at the Midtown NYC location next to the Loews hotel. The food was good; the service was good, and I even purchased their cookbook in the restaurant. Then, when I returned to NYC for Mother's Day weekend, we went to the Serafina in the Meatpacking District and my opinion changed when they offered Branzino piccata on their specials menu, but they actually served tilapia and charged me $40 as if I was getting Branzino. I am very familiar with the various kinds of fish served in restaurants and I cook fish very often at home. Branzino is like a trout and the filets are flat and they are the same thickness on both sides. Tilapia on the other hand is significantly thicker on one side than the other. I asked the waiter why he brought me Tilapia when the special was clearly listed as Branzino. This is a very deceptive (and common) practice. The restaurant charges you $40 for the higher quality fish specials (which are not raised on crushed dog food), but they serve you the lower quality and cheaper Tilapia. I am not opposed to paying $40 for the Branzino special, but please do not cheat me by serving me Tilapia and calling it Branzino. #unacceptable.

Nice lunch stop

By Stryke8 |

Stopped in for a light lunch and enjoyed the outdoor atmosphere in the heart of the meat packing district. Snacked on pizza, and mimosas while people watching on a beautiful spring day. Located in the heart of the meat packing district, surrounded by NYC resturants, and shopping! Service was a bit off, as the waitress was given my credit card ahead of time, to not make my guests feel uncomftable when the check came, but she forgot, and I had to track her down to pay the bill. All in all, a very nice place to relax in the hubbub of Manhattan.

Surprised given other reviews

By Henry A |

I was keen to avoid owing to the other reviews. But we sat down and had immediate excellent service. Goat and arugala salad with focaccia wonderful. Others ate pizza and happy. So... Good food, good beer, great service... 5 stars for a lunch at the end of the high line. Yes I will return

Lunch

By JXR_UK |

Four of us ate here today. I wasn’t feeling too hungry so just ordered the meatballs from the appetisers as an entree. The portion was plenty big, the meatballs were tasty, but it could have done with been a little warmer. We all enjoyed our food. Service was ok and the bathroom was clean.

Good food , so so service !

By CAMERON S |

We all agreed that the food was good . Salads fresh and tasty. Service wasn't so good . One member of staff smiled and tried to engage with us , the others were distant and seemed not to care less !

When the manager is the weakest link

By Philsey |

When the manager is the weakest link… We arrived with 6 people and asked for a table. The nice waitress told ist that we could join a table for four and a table for two. Just a moment later, she informed is that the manager wouldn’t allow it. So we got stuck in a corner of the terrace far away from the rest. Subsequently it took forever that we couldn’t place an order. I had to ask for service and then they got into gear… it’s a shame that the person supposed to set the example, didn‘t…

ICE COLD PIZZA

By RobGNYC |

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS RESTAURANT. We ordered a pizza at 6.50pm. It was delivered at 7.30pm but it was ice cold. I believed that it was cooked hours early, in anticipation of our order. When I called to complain, I spoke to the manager, a woman named Marina. She was the rudest person I have ever dealt with and told me to take my business elsewhere.

Cheap & Cheerful

By CrankieMacker |

I had lunch here, after a stroll along the High Line. Really nice little find - very reasonably priced food. I can highly recommend their pesto-topped pizza!!! Staff are friendly, without being intrusive. Location is great - in the heart of the Meatpacking District, with seating available outside for sunny days.

The waitress tried to cheat me

By Robert D |

Avoid this place at all costs. In the Chelsea "meatpacking" district. I brought my two daughters who live in NYC--the oldest a doctor. The waitress "Crystal" told me they were out of what I had specifically wanted. But, and this was intentional, she left that item for say $25 on the bill. Due to poor lighting, I asked my daughter to look over the bill, and as soon as she mentioned it, the waitress, who was listening nearby, came over and said she'd adjust it. The food was mediocre and the service quite poor, beyond the THIEF. We sat upstairs, and when I went downstairs, I asked to see the manager, who was standing at the corner of the bar, literally wearing a white crew neck tee shirt. I said I have a complaint and he never turned around, but said "tell me everything." I told him look at me when I am talking to you. He said I am listening. I told him turn around and look me in the face when I am talking to you. He did. I am an attorney (NYU) and a retired NY state police Lieutenant, so I know about supervision and thieves. I guess he figured we were just dumb tourists. Serafina is a chain, so I called their corporate headquarters and at least they professed shock that the manager would be wearing a tee shirt, and not look a customer in the eye.

great for quick bite before theatre

By patricia b |

it's an easy evening when you go to serafina for delicious pasta, great pizzas and salads. It's a quick bite for us before theatre or events in the district. They have decent wines by the glass as well. We actually prefer the pizza. Think crust and some of the best in NYC!

Disappointing

By Tracey V |

After getting rave reviews from friends and our son (who went to the Central Park restaurant), we were excited to try Serafina. Unfortunately, that's where our excitement ended. We should have known the second we got seated on the third floor with bunches of tables of young children (we did not have children) that we were relegated to less-than-ideal seating. The problem with the third floor wasn't the young children though. It was the fact that we had one waitress waiting on 7 or 8 tables. It took about 15 minutes for our waitress to take our drink order and another 20 or so to get our drinks. We didn't see her for another long chunk of time (long enough to finish our drinks and sit waiting to get another round.) When she finally took our order, I ordered two appetizers for the table. Those appetizers came out with our meal. They corrected that and took our food back to the kitchen so we could enjoy our appetizers, which is never good news. Food came back with gummy pasta and overcooked lasagna. It was mediocre at best. The good news: the manager did comp us a round of drinks. My advice: If you want to eat here, ask to be seated on the second or first floors. We noticed the second floor had multiple wait staff available for the same number of tables as the third floor had. Plus, the waitress doesn't have to walk down three flights of stairs to the bar.

Great service, great food,

Great service, great food, great atmosphere, & Luis was a great waiter. Can’t say enough about this place. I am vegetarian and I had many options.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Overpriced food and unfriendly service

By idan r |

The food was ok but nothing special and definantly not worth the price. The staff were unpleasent and the resteraunt was noisy. The general experience wasn't great.

Basic Menu. Great Drinks & Service!

By Shannon A |

Love this area. Restaurant had charm, was full of people, lively! Drinks were great, so was service. Food was basic but yummy. Came out really fast. We love this area.

Bad experience

By Marco S |

The focaccia, the prosciutto and the oil were good. Also the negroni, when I finally got it. They serve us a dish with mozzarella and prosciutto as appetizers, without nothing to drink. We remembered the waiter that before the food he must serve the drinks. So we ask for water while expecting our two drinks, a Negroni and something else. Then the waiter comes with pizza and two dishes of pasta, but still no drinks on the table. So we refused them until we got the drinks. They finally arrived 10 minutes later. The spaghetti con le vongole had 11 vongole. It was a normal spaghetti al pomodoro rather than a spaghetti con vongole. I can't recommend this place to anyone.

Sperior service, excellent wine and great pizza

By Hawaiianbee |

Their Pinot Grigio wine was excellent! We had one of their pizzas with mushrooms and spicy sausage and loved it so much we ordered another pizza this time with mushrooms, arugula and pesto. So yummy! They have top notch expresso too!

Amazing staff and lovely to be around the locals in such a great area of Manhattan. Would definitely come back. We didn't eat but the food looked amazing.

A wonderful evening

By djh5723 |

Had a hioliday dinner with several friends, and really enjoyed the place. Atmosphere was great, food was really good and drinks were solid. All in all a good place for a small group.

Tasty italian simple food, but well overprised

By Kyblaw |

Actually well executed, simple italian recipies, which compared to european food quality are very decent, but their prices are more than double and the wine prices are more than triple ( the wine list has many big italian names, but their wines of lesses "value", on big prices... Service was a bit unsyncronized and too over our heads, for no particular reason and with out the desired result. I really did not see the reason for this restaurant being one of the most fancy in NY

Serafina Meatpacking

By Brittany M |

We decided to dine at Serafina for our 10th anniversary, what a mistake! It was very nice inside so we thought it was a great place to celebrate, we were very wrong. The bad service started right away, a party of 3 was seated 2 minutes after us, and approached and helped by our waiter before we were. This would seem like a simple mistake to me, and I would have not even given it a second thought, had the rest of our service been, I don't know, even AVERAGE. The entire time we were there it seemed like the waiter could not be bothered with us, he was not attentive at all, only came to our table when completely necessary. The guy who was filling the water glasses was very good at keeping up with it, but again was not friendly at all. We felt very out of place and awkward, especially because the tables around us were receiving better service. Our soda was never refilled, so I figure it is one of those ridiculous places that charges for every refill, fine, but we should have at least been asked if we would like anything else to drink, instead of the guy assuming we were going to just keep drinking the free water. Had i been asked, i actually would have ordered an alcoholic drink, but I was never asked. When we finished our meals it took the waiter 15 minutes to see if we would like anything else, and even then he did not offer up a dessert menu without us asking for it. To be honest, I feel that the waiter decided early on that we would probably not tip well so did not care what kind of service he gave us. Joke is on him because we typically tip ABOVE 20%. When we left we passed plenty of staff and no one acknowledged us. The food was good, but not good enough to make up for the lack of service. We had a great day, and to end it with this terrible experience was very disappointing. We should have went back to Little Italy where we had recommendations of AUTHENTIC Italian restaurants with much better service. Because of the horrible service my boyfriend wanted to tip 15%, but we tipped between 18% and 20% because I did not want to give the waiter the satisfaction in thinking that he was right to give us bad service. This was by far the worse dining experience that we have had as a couple, and because of it I will NEVER step foot in ANY Serafina restaurant, as the name is tarnished in our minds from this experience.

Simple Italian food

By Jack Tar |

It has a basic Italian menu, but nothing special In a city with great Italian restaurants it needs something more The squash pasta is pretty goid Good selection off wine

Amazing Calamari Dish!

By katiesinger77 |

As my cousin's and I strolled around looking for a spot to crash, while our final destination opened up, we discovered Serafina....and what a discovery it was!!! I had a simple craving for Calamari and to sip on some red wine....This quaint corner spot surpassed the expectation of such a simple craving....it was just the most scrumptious Calamari I could have.... As for the wine...they only served the best!!!!! As for the ambiance...just Perfect! Relax and enjoy this place!!!!!

Worst service I have ever experienced!!!

By Michael V |

Went in serafina just wanting coffees to go, half an hour later the lady comes down with our coffees not to go so she got the order completely wrong as she walked away the bartender cursed and was mad yet he did apologize to us. Another half an hour later she comes back with our order all ready to go. We then leave take a sip and our coffees are cold, we take them back to complain and hopefully get a refund since the coffees were already over priced... we end up getting the worst service we have ever endured, rude and not a care taken by any of the staff one lady even laughed in my face and rolled her eyes. I do not suggest this place to anyone.

Dinner w niece

Cool location. Got a table outside right after we walked the high line. Water was cool. Food was really good , two pasta dishes, but everything needed salt. Maybe a tad overpriced for MYC where competition tends to keep prices in check.

Decent and not expensive Italian restaurant in meatpacking district

By Dieter K |

This Is a very decent Italian restaurant in the trendy meatpacking district. I had an Aperol Spritz cocktail which was good and $ 12.00, followed by a pasta dish with lobster and then cappuccino. Everything was very good and by NYC standards not expensive. My friend had lasagna, which he liked as well. Try to sit outside, the inside isn't so nice and the music too loud, but its great for a summer evening if you get a table outside. I would go back for sure. And btw the pizzas some people ate at the next table looked delicious as well.

pretty nondescipt

By SirHenry |

Had a family an early lunch here upstairs. Not much atmosphere and although we found the staff reasonably efficient it did take a long time for our food to arrive - perhaps the kitchen was starting up? Generally folk opted for pizzas and salads, without rave reviews. I had a filet mignon burger which was tasty but I felt that the rest of the diners weren't entirely satisfied. Convenient for us at the time as we had no booking and a table for 10 can sometimes be difficult. Must be better places but it wasn't terrible.

Great brunch place in meatpacking district

By Shelly A |

Nice menu. Lots to choose from went for brunch. Indoor and outdoor seating Great to people watch. Right off the Highline.

Great Pizza! Plus so much More.

By SadieTO |

We went here for a group business dinner and it was a great place to go. Fun, great food and easy good service. The pizzas are amazing. The lobster pasta is to die for. Calamari soo good. Also a fun good drink menu. The area is alive, fun and just keeps going into the night.

Nice relaxing meal

Meatpacking is popping, more so than I like. I was happy that Serafina served up a nice calm and tasty meal!

Good Italian option

By landyadelaide |

Found us a table with great speed and sat outside which was a good spot to watch the world go by. Food was served very quickly a porcini ravioli which wife said was delicious and a better than average but not the best lasagne. Had an enjoyable time great spot for a warm night.

Ho-hum for the location and price

By Joel N |

Come for the ambience, and definitely not for the food (meh) or service (impersonal and rushed). To me, this is an overpriced Italian restaurant wannabe

ITALIAN LUNCH

By Kenza T |

Typical ITALIAN restaurant, with a nice décor, good good and professional staff. The covered Terrasse upstairs reminds me of Capri. A good retreat on Madison acter à long walk.

Nice lunch outdoors

By SunyEllie |

I had the lasagna and a beer and it was delicious. Service was great. I sat outdoors and really enjoyed people watching. It has a great location close to the high line and meatpacking district. I definitely recommend it : )

Great for having lunch and move on!

By Merjose |

All dishes are nice, it´s fast and delicious! It´s great when you want to do a one hour stop, and the continue visiting more places. Salads are good, with organic ingredients, nice to have!

Terrible management

By GoodManNYC |

We dine at the other serafina locations all the time and I am shocked how rude the 9th ave hostess and manager are. We went there last Saturday morning. They are arrogant and mean made forced us upstairs while they had plenty of seats downstairs They need to learn from the other locations as they are wonderful To the owners and top management please look into this as I will never step foot again. I advise others not too as well.

Cozy place and good food

By Ibrugal |

The place is cozy although a little too dark for my taste. The food was pretty good and the price is reasonable. The service was not the greatest.

Good and friendly service👌🏻😃

By Kalas1 |

We came 3 families with children and asked if we could sit down to order drinks and Brushetta. We were warmly welcomed by several of the staff who constantly followed us up with a friendly smile. We felt great despite 35gr in the shade 😃 Can rek this restaurant!

great family meal

By ShawnLA_7 |

made last minute reservation since they are open late and we wanted to go out with our kids ages 16, 14 and 10. great food , nice vibe , authentic Italian food. highly recommended.

Rather disappointing

By Jean H |

Second visit at Serafina's in Meatpacking. And rather disappointing. Serafinas used to be a convenient reasonably priced option, with a rather good cooking (for the price). Honestly, even though we did not expect gastronomic Italian, that was less than convincing. As some have written before, the place tends to be dark (that is okay) but also then very, very noisy (which is less okay). Service, okay, nothing bad, nothing outstanding either. Some small bothering details (most dishes were brought directly by the cook - but he could not answer any question, like spicy oil, etc… and always had to call the waitress). Then food. Most disappointing. For me, the smallest ever Calzone pizza… totally flat, small like a giant ravioli. Really felt super hungry afterwards. Taste was okay though. Nothing fantastic. My friend had 4 Seasons which was OK but nothing extraordinary. Then dessert… a dry cream cheese cake that seemed a bit old… a vanilla pana cotta that tasted coffee… Needless to add on this… Is it expensive ? All the before mentioned + 4 glasses of wine, 120$ without service … make up your mind, mine is made, it is way too expensive for that.

Good food at this consistent favorite

By Angela N |

We decided on Serafina at the last minute and didn't need a reservation. We were able to eat at an outdoor table and the service started out well! Dishes (Chicken Paillard and a Shrimp pasta) were both well seasoned and prepared. Our waiter disappeared and a good busser tried to take care of our requests for more coffee and water...another patron was upset that a 2nd glass of wine took too long and had to pay quickly and leave. Thankfully we were not in as big a rush.

Nice brunch

By Kevin C |

After happening on their uptown location, we stumbled across this location, and we were equally impressed. All very satisfactory dishes with solid service.

Underwhelming

By Graham J |

Dimly lit, creating a cosy ambience on a Sunday evening. Attentive service & quality wine, but rubbish pizza & overpriced.

Great food in the MPD

By LuxeGirlNYC |

I've been to another location but this was my first time at the MPD location. I loved it. We shared bruschetta and buffalo mozzarella for an appetizer. Both were great. I had an excellent pasta dish. It was called Paglia & Fieno. I highly recommend it. My date had the gnocchi and he loved it. We went early and it was pretty empty but was definitely filling up by the time we left. The service was very good...no complaints. It's also in a fantastic location so you can go to a bar or club after dinner.

Cute local restaurant

By 920rebecca |

On weekends Serafina has a certain chic vibe—it is in the heart of Gansevoort Plaza—so except fancily dressed people from everywhere. Weekdays are a bit more mellow though in both cases I’d suggest reservations. This restaurant is supposed to be Italian, I think, though it has more of a Mediterranean flare. The appetizers were delicious, the salads are quite good with interesting combos and the pasta dishes are hearty. After appetizers, bread, salad, wine, pasta, fish, everyone was stuffed. If you are from the area, you’ll appreciate the feeling of the way the neighborhood used to be (I’ve been eating in this building since 1999, and while they have changed owners and renovated, the first floor looks/feels like it did) and if you are visiting, you’ll get to experience a spot that is quintessentially West Village-y. All and all it was a wonderful night out and I’d go again.

Good egg sandwich...no restroom, so watch coffee intake!

By EMTinLancasterPA |

I ordered a plain egg sandwich on rye bread and it was quite tasty; however, this place is tiny and there's no restroom, so be careful how much coffee you drink. The whole time we ate, patrons kept asking staff about the bathroom, and the staff kept directing them to J. Crew across the street...which wasn't opened yet anyway.

cocktails great !

By julie G |

had fantastic cocktails here . fantastic atmosphere . waitress lovely . great place to sit and people watch

Good Food and VERY LOUD

By jtileston |

The food was quite good - the spinach/goat cheese salad very simple but perfect, and the two pastas we had (fettucine and pesto with potatoes/beans), were pleasant though not earthshaking. We were able to be seated right away on a Saturday night after a trip to the Whitney, but the upstairs was so loud with drunken 20'somethings that we could barely hear, and had to actually move our table over to avoid them making out on the bench next to us. Apparently some reviewers love that Saturday Night atmosphere, but we'll save a return visit for lunch.

Good reliable

By Catherine C |

We stay a lot at the nylo. And usually have one meal here. Good when u don't want to walk to investigate other options

Disappointed

By LeoAb |

Loud place in the Meatpacking. Loud music and the food is not tasty at all. The lasagna was not hot and it tasted as if it was microwave heated. I do not know how Serafina became worldwide famous. Maybe because of the nice name.

Not as good as uptown

By Katrin S |

This Serafina is located in the meat packing district and not a good as the sister restaurant uptown. The pasta and pizza are good as are the salads and the minestrone soup. Try and sit downstairs as the service is very slow upstairs.

Best Bolognese in town

By sydneywinelass |

lovely spot for lunch - great service, and the food was amazing. I'm still daydreaming about the bolognese sauce!

Good location, food ok

By Tigerwont |

On a hot summer's day, sitting outside and watching the world go by in the heart of the Meatpacking District with a beer can't really be argued with. This place is perfectly located and the staff are friendly and efficient. The salads, sadly, were very underwhelming and turned up just a little too quickly for comfort. Lots of dressing and not overly generous portions. The $175 bill (for 3 of us) was possibly influenced by the few glasses of wine/beer, but at that price I can think of many better alternatives if culinary focus is at all important to you.

Not bad, Not phenomenal

By OliviaJ91 |

I ate here for dinner last Saturday while in the city for my friend's Bachelorette weekend. We had a reservation, and our group of seven was seated immediately. Many of the girls had cocktails, with the strawberry basil being a crowd favorite. We ordered two orders of the bruschetta to start, which wasn't quite enough for seven people. I then ordered the Tris of Sofia which I thought was very tasty. I enjoyed the ravioli and the gnocchi more than the paglia. The serving was large, more than I could eat, and appropriately priced for the serving and location. The ambiance was just okay. We sat upstairs in the dimly lit room, complete with graffiti art, exposed brick, and candle light. Service was only okay too. Our water glasses often went empty for long stretches of time, and we had to ask to be served bread halfway through our meal. Overall, I'd say this place is the definition of three star. Food was good with adequate portions but the service could benefit from some additional motivation. Nothing overly memorable to return to next time I'm in the city, but I wouldn't dissuade people from eating here either.

Better than in Italy😍

By Saras |

We came across the place on the recommendation of a tour guide. We tried both amazing first and second courses! Heavenly gnocchi, as an Italian I really think we'll be back😋

Overpriced and underwhelming

By Michelle R |

You’re paying for location here. We ordered the spinach salad with goats cheese and pine nuts, it came out drenched in honey dressing, a few pine nuts and the 4 pieces of goats cheese were melted on little pieces of bread - which is not even mentioned in the menu description. The pizza (4 stagioni) had a doughy, undercooked base, runny tomato sauce and was totally bland. The herb foccacia was very dry - a glorified pita bread with olive oil and rosemary. An expensive and disappointing dinner!

Bad Vibes - Keep Walking!

By yrmama |

Our costly food was delicious, but tragically soured by the bad vibes. When we walked in a few folks were sipping desultorily at their coffee and the staff was hanging in a corner by the bar. After a while we asked if we were supposed to seat ourselves...no, we were supposed to wait. The lady "put" us upstairs, it felt like because we were tourists with children and not dressed head to toe in black. No one cracked a smile the whole time - it was that aloof kind of rudeness from everyone there. Plus they have unmarked bathrooms that you have to ask about to locate, and then they act like it's a pretty unreasonable question. So, if you want to eat overpriced food, you will be much happier somewhere else.

Way overpriced pasta. Deli Hot Lunch Bar Quality.

By Happiness35058816108 |

We had a late lunch here last week and for four non-meat pasta dishes, bill was over $100. (No alcohol.) Service was mediocre, not great. No bread, no extras. Had to ask for pepper and grated cheese, — not offered. $18 for spaghetti. $18 for pasta vodka with no veggies. $18 for plain pizza. $18 for ravioli. All pasta too al dente. Tried the rest of my family's food also and it was like something you would get at a just okay deli hot lunch bar. Totally not worth the food / service. Rip off. Try somewhere else for better dining. This is "phone it in" Italian. 10 cents worth of pasta for almost $20. Good for them. Not for you.

Not impressed

By B a i t y |

Ordered the spaghetti with lobster. It was just ok. Not something thst leaves any impression on you. For the reputation it has, it's very "meh"

Lovely place

By Star G |

I was eating here today. Had a salad with goad cheese&spinach and Penne arrabiata. The Service was very good. The Food very delicious. Finally a real good place for "real" and fresh Food. Would definitely recommend the place!

Nice atmosphere

By finsterErie_PA |

We were celebrating Valentines Day on a very cold evening at Serafinas. Loved the atmosphere very cozy place to escape the elements. I noticed the menus made suggestion on the "Italian" way to cook pasta "Al DENTE". Mt pasta dish was overcooked taking away from mostly a good experience. I will try again in a future trip.

Unfortunate Experience

By msga159 |

My family and I were having a fantastic time walking the High Line when we decided to stop for a snack and drink. We thought Serafina’s outdoor seating looked inviting. We ordered a few appetizers of meats and cheeses and drinks. Unfortunately, the waitress forgot the drink order and my husband had to scout her out to find out what was happening. Half the drinks showed up and the remainder after we finished our food. Additionally, she automatically added 20% to the bill.😐 All I can say is the food was good and the rest was an exercise in frustration to a very beautiful day.

This bar is the perfect place to meet friends in the meatpacking district. It is like the hub of the most happening neighborhood in town after 11:00 pm. Love it.

Visited Serafina in the Meatpacking district for the second time, celebrating my niece's graduation from NYU Law School. Loved the funky atmosphere, neighborhood hang-out feel and good food the first time and thought it would be perfect for this occasion. My family loved the place, we had a great, relaxed meal and family get-together, and it was everything a little Italian restaurant should be. While waiting in the bar for others to arrive, saw both couples and groups of friends getting togther for drinks and dinner, just as expected. It gave the place a happy, lively vibe that set the stage well for our meal. Also close to the High Line if you want to take a nice walk before or after dinner. If you are looking for a favorite Italian restaurant in Chelsea, Serafina deserves a visit! Will definitely be back!

Super Saturday Night at Serafina

Serafina Meatpacking is a favorite spot of ours because of its fun relaxed atmosphere and great Italian and contemporary comfort food. So it was the perfect pick for an early dinner on 9/23 to celebrate before grabbing a quick cab to see Bruno Mars. Sitting outside on a beautiful Saturday evening allowed us to people watch, have a great conversation, and enjoy a great relaxed meal. The cocktails are well crafted and we recommend the Goat Cheese salad (we added chicken) and the Regina Pizza. Always fun energetic courteous service. I greatly appreciate our server's willingness to provide me with our check immediately after ordering once I let him know we needed to leave quickly after dinner to make it Madison Square Garden on time. Many thanks for a great start to our evening!!!
