The food was delicious and the portions were large. Exceptional service. Very attentive yet not hovering. Great ambience. Will definitely dine there again.

I realized tonight that I had been remiss in not writing a review of Shan. It's the first full service Chinese restaurant in the Boerum Hill/Cobble Hill/Carroll Gardens area since I moved in almost 40 years ago, and it fills the void magnificently. The menu is sizeable, and we return to our favorites over and over. Scallion pancakes are excellent, as are the dumplings, and tonight we added sweet & spicy udon noodles, based on how good they looked on another table. Definitely a winner! Our go-to mains are kung pao chicken, fried braised duck, shredded beef with green cayenne pepper, and duck fried rice. These dishes are consistently excellent. We've tried a few other things that were fine, but didn't match as well with our tastes--but see lots of folks enjoying the full range of the menu. Service is friendly and efficient, and the staff remembers folks who've been there before and is very welcoming. What a great addition to the neighborhood!
