Many positives in an impossibly noisy locale

By marc0sf1 |

For several years the trend has been to play very loud music in restaurants thus forcing customers to yell at each other in close proximity, eliminating anything akin to a table discussion, a near extinct practice. It becomes more of a problem if you happen to enjoy the food, which is the case with Shuka. Fortunately, the place is large enough and there is a room in the back that is quieter which is where we sat and enjoyed a tasty mid-Eastern inspired meal. I recommend this place for the food IF you can get a table in the back or reasonably far from the loud music. Service was excellent, our waitress was nice, polite, informative, helpful and did not disappear into a black hole when we needed her most. She was right on target with her recommendations. Once the food was ordered it was served very quickly. The food itself is tasty and not overwhelming. Some standard mid-eastern fares like falafel and tahini are flavorful. The humus is one notch above whatever you have tried before. Crispy cauliflower is very good, the salad with fried cheese is also very good. We got one kebab for the table (three of us) of arctic char, excellently cooked, served with some fresh salad vegetables. The pita is soft, warm and fluffy and quite tasty for this meal. Wine selection is limited, we went with a young Italian white which was perfect for this meal. Take the noise factor out and I would have rated this place higher.

Hip location with interesting food choices

By Mark B |

I wouldn’t have thought of dates rolled in citrus salt a starter, but it worked out fairly well. The spicy cucumber was nice, but rather a lot of cucumber. The beef + lamb was delicious, and cooked perfectly (cooked, but very juicy), but needed something a little more than just salad to accompany it. I enjoyed my desert cake, which was sweet but not overly so, and with a nice blob of cream and a little fresh berries on top.

Delicious food and amazing atmosphere!

Loved the cocktails and the food was delicious! Super flavorful, so many amazing things to try. Highly recommend if you enjoy small plate meals and sharing tapas with others!

Comfort and Good Food

By Carol R |

My husband and i discovered Shuka last year near our hotel. This year we returned after a long flight, exhausted and very hungry as we told the hostess. She found us a warm table by the window and hurried our appetizer, which was fantastic (the crispy cauliflower). The rest of our food was first rate and the service equally fine. New York is wonderful but can be stressful for visitors from quieter and slower cities. This is a great place to relax and unwind with wholesome food.

Fresh but not quite Flavorful

By LKM |

Having just eaten at a popular Middle Eastern restaurant in Paterson NJ, I was interested to see how a trendy chef would enhance the flavors of such common dishes as babaganouj and fatoosh. This chef doesn't quite do it for me. Although the food was super fresh (and the service impeccable), the Manhattanized dishes hardly rose to the level of uniqueness. The parsnip babaganouj didn't have a different taste from the regular fare; the fatoosh with fried halloumi was fine but not memorable. Best dish was the roasted squash with labne and hazelnuts. Crispy (read fried) cauliflower was good but not seasoned particularly. The tab came to about $100 for two people. Place was crowded and a bit noisy. All in all, a B+.

A fun spot

By Fshah |

We stopped in here fairly last minute and we were really surprised that they were able to accommodate us. Shuka is always one of those places I always like to come to when I'm craving different items. This is definitely a good restaurant to come with family or friends and the concept is really to share all your plates so everyone gets a chance to try everything. As a vegetarian I really enjoy their menu because there are so many options. I do wish they had an option for a veggie kebab option but honestly there were plenty of other options as well. I also love that they are constantly changing their menu so I never get tired of the options. Most of the food was well seasoned and all the sauces complimented it well. My 2 favorites were the pistachio dip and the crispy cauliflower. They were unique and tasted really good. The ambiance is also great and matches the theme of the food.

SOHO Mediterranean GEM !!!! Delicious

By airbrush1212 |

There are many fantastic restaurants in NYC and Shuka is right up there with the best of them. Reservations are a must. Shuka is ALWAYS crowded. The food is super creative. We had hummus made from parsnip, beyond delicious !!! Also the chicken shawarma, which I don't even usually like, was DELICIOUS. Tender well seasoned and melted in my mouth. We ordered the meatballs, and Zahtar fries, also good, and lamb meatballs. Melted in my mouth. Prices are super fair. I would go back immediately. It was really delicious. I highly recommend you try it.

Best brunch ever

Shuka in NYC ⭐️

By abpvris |

The place is very very very beautiful - the song is quite good even though it’s difficult to hear something sometimes! The Shawarma plate is tasty as hell and the zucchini also have a special taste that I never experienced in the past.

Modern Mediterranean

By USCKaboom |

Shuka had some great flavors. Definitely make a reservation as it gets packed. The dips were quite good. The kabobs were perfectly cooked and tender.

Spectacular food and service

By Ariestennisgirl |

The manager was on site and we managed to get a table after a cancelation. The food was spectacular and so was the service. Our waitress by the name of Rosie guided us through the menu and helped us choose our dinner. The perfect choice! A cherry dish to start that was amazing as well as other tasty dishes like a feta and pistachio spread. Food came on time and was very hot as it should. The manager seemed to be in control of the place making it work to perfection. It was a great experience and definitively recommend this restaurant. The staff amazing and this can only happen when a place is run properly. Congratulations to the manager!

Delicious Mediterranean Food

By Manish Malpani |

Fantastic! Great place - awesome service, food and superb atmosphere. We sat outside and the experience was great. I am an vegetarian and was able to find many options satisfying my palette. I had a great dinner with friends. We had fafalel, Zaatar fries, Market vegetables and few other. Delicious food.

Great atmosphere and incredible service.

By SandyBeachLondon |

The restaurant was recommended by a friend who lives in NYC and I was so impressed with the service. Unfortunately, I don't have the name os the lady who served us but she really went above and beyond! Food is great, especially the halloumi and dates and lamb chops! Yes, it's loud but it was full and as a wonderful buzz!

some things were good.

By EmilyL95765 |

We ate brunch at Shuka because Shukette did not fit into our theatre plans. The pita, hummus, and whipped feta were delicious. The over fried fries were yum, but the over fried falafel was hard as a rock. The Lamb marguez sausage was under done and slimy, we left the entire platter and the waiter did not even pause when we said we were "done" with it. He should of asked why we didn't eat it? Not so thrilled with our choices, we decided not to order any more plates. So, if you want hummus and fries- go here. If you want a meal, do not.

SALTY SALTY SALTY!!!!

By luvtravellin2014 |

Let me start by saying I love salt! Every single dish from the artichokes to the radish salad to the salmon kebab was so salty it was inedible!!!! Not to mention the terrible service. We asked for water 3 times, asked for the check 3 times. Taste your food guys - awful!!!

Come for lunch or a drink , not sure about dinner!

By Aspie44 |

Quiet large restaurant with nice decor ,atmosphere and a good bar . Restaurant opened only few months ago by same owner . Excellent service , Unimpressive starters and quiet poor mixed grill, Most likely good for lunch , a drink with a starter but not passable for dinner. The only good enter was the spicy fish while the grill was much to be desired.

Lunch oasis

By Irene M |

Such a treat to come here for lunch with a few friends. Service was great-we all picked a dish or two and shared. Dips, salads, appetizers along with a bottle of bubbly rose. Service was great, atmosphere very nice. The ingredients were so fresh and everything so delicious and original. Just really different dishes you would not get elsewhere.

Really nice service, zone and ambience. Salad really good. All is really good. The manager was very nice with an incident accident near our table. Will come back.

Special night

By markdmarc |

We hosted a birthday dinner party for 7 of our friends and what a wonderful evening it was!!! Brinley, the assistant manager was beyond helpful in assisting us with setting up our party. The food was spectacular! We had the Shuka Feast! It was so much food and everything was delicious! The fried halloumi was beyond! All the dips were delish! Kebabs were great! Pita was perfect! It was a perfect evening!!!Thanks so much for a memorable evening!

Atmospheric and Tasty

By Feenixwest |

Happy we found this place which was quiet enough to talk. Charming little candle filigreed candle holders set a warm tone. We had the market vegetables, chicken shawarma and different sorbets. The market vegetables were crunchy with a complimentary sauce. The chicken shawarma was beautifully served with greens and pomegranate. The chicken was flavorful and cooked to perfection. Of the house-made sorbets, I liked the pear rather than the Turkish coffee—the latter reminded me of cookie dough with cinnamon. We would love to come again and get more adventuresome with the menu.

Must try!

By christigray1 |

The food was unique and unbelievable! We tried multiple shared dishes. Great atmosphere and great service! I highly recommend it!

Great birthday meal!

By JerryD54 |

Enjoyed fantastic meal with family and friends. Shuka is a neat twist on Spanish style tapas with small plate options, but applied to Mediterranean cuisine. Food was excellent, lots of different choices including gluten free options for those who may require it. Really neat decor and restaurant layout. Very fun overall experience not like many other restaurants. Also very good value for dinner on a Saturday night in NYC. Highly recommend!!

Fantastic

By Maria229 |

Absolutely loved this place- great vibes, cocktails, and food. Went with a group and opted to do the feast for the table which let us enjoy a variety of menu items. Highly recommend

Awesome sharing menu

By Sarah C |

We got the Shukla feast sharing menu between 4 and it was AWESOME. Good amount of food and some leftovers even thought we were all full. There were 2 vegetarians and we got the roasted cabbage and cauliflower as the kebabs (as recommended in place of the falafel by the waiter) and it was awesome. The staff member was lovely and honest about recommendations. Easy to split bill

Excellent restaurant- not to be missed

By SusieQte |

Excellent food and great service from Sarah. We had the dips and kebab, salad and chicken shawarma- all amazing. We also enjoyed the olive oil cake. Great ambience. You definitely need to reserve in advance.

Overpriced and mediocre food

By travelguy21776 |

We came here with another couple on a Thursday night. First off, the place is huge and very loud, to the point we almost needed to ask for an outdoor table. It was cold out, so we decided to stay inside and deal with the noise. The waiter was friendly and informative, but it was busy, so after his original meeting with us, we didn’t see him too often. We ordered maybe ten things family style. Hummus dips were mediocre and bland at beat. The chimichurri dipping sauce was very good. The falafels were fried and way over cooked. The basmati rice was definitely not middle-eastern style, soggy and definitely not fluffy like we’ve had at other Mediterranean places. The kebabs were chicken thighs, one piece was tough, the others full of grissle. We had a small salad, nothing fancy, but pretty good. And we had a baklava sundae which was fair at best. Nice to visit, but probably wont visit again.

Middle Eastern food at its best!

By Ann S |

We arrived late without a reservation but were seated right away and enjoyed a delicious dinner, starting with freshly baked pita bread with a dip and followed by spinach boureka (filo pastry filled with spinach and feta cheese) then kebabs accompanied by a beet dish. We chose a Souk Sundae to share for dessert. I had a glass of icy Greek Assyrtiko, one of my fave wines from anywhere and my son had cider. A great meal! Would love to return for brunch and their shaksuka!

Israel Name / Not Israeli Food

By WorldTrotter100K-Y |

service is good, but if you looking for israeli/mediterranean food you should go elsewhere. This is the chefs take on classic plates, I understand she wants to give it a twist but she should familiarize herself more with the food and culture. the tunisian sandwich was just an american egg salad that looked exotic because she used turmeric! not recommended! and for the shawarma she got existed and used all the condiments in her cupboard and let me tell you, it wasnt a good combination. The fatush salad was just an average salad, very nice plated but nothing good!

If you don't want to eat with pulsating, loud music go elsewhere

By puruoshi |

The food was really tasty, the decor attractive, and staff pretty attentive. The place is large so why there isn't one room where people don't have to shout to be heard by the person sitting beside them even when the music has been turned down is beyond me. Would like to go back for the food but won't because the noise made it such a needlessly unpleasant experience. The place was packed so I guess nobody cares. The manager seemed to think it made the place fun.

Fantastic food and service

By Heather M |

I had been craving fattoush so my husband booked us a table at Shuka. The fattoush was a bit different than any fattoush I've ever had, but it was delicious. Everything we ordered was very tasty. The service was very good, especially the greeters and front desk gentlemen. I was so happy we had eaten here.

Great brunch!

By diant53 |

Menu is really interesting. We opted for ricotta pancakes (best ever), shakshuka and feta and spinach egg scramble. All were excellent! Mimosa and Bloody Mary we’re just right. Server very helpful and nice. Decor very nice. Enjoy! I’d come back here in a heartbeat.

Brilliantly Surprised

By Amrita 2019 |

All the food here is made from scratch and absolutely gorgeous. Attentive staff and wish there was one near me.

Incredible interpretation of mediteranean cuisine

By 75marcopolo76 |

Before the dishes, just a word about a short but great wine list. Among them, we tried an excellent pinot gris from french alsace region. Conerning the cooking, besides a disappointing pork kebbab that was not tasty ,just spicy, every single dish was full of flavors and with a very personal interpretation. We were very lucky that we could enjoy a diner in this overcrowded place.

Great atmosphere! Great food!

By DBG888 |

Great Mediterranean restaurant that provided a big selection of mezze that would excite any foodie. Atmoshere, lighting, music, really sets the stage for the dining experience that does not disappoint. Great place for several couples, friends, or a large group, as the vibe is contagious and fun!

Delish and hip

By Mirna G |

Great ambiance with delicious food. The house made pita slathered in the yoghurt and taramosalata dips were so good they gave me a food high. I chased that with a kebab on a bed of fresh red romaine leaves to pass out from. I washed down this with a light white wine so I had no room for the array of scrumptious desserts! Fun food and fun dressy crowd!

Service, staff and great ingredients

By Dan D |

Great Soho restaurant if you want Mediterranean cuisine . We had the Lamb and also the chicken kebabs which we truly enjoyed. Best of all is the service and the attention to the customer When I go back to New York this restaurant is on my list.

Great place .. delicious

Excellent oriental and Lebanese cuisine. Really nice setting, comfortable, lively .. good atmosphere. All dishes are fantastic quality and delicious.

Great Mediterranean - Lebanese fusion

By Paul Quiñonez |

I love Lebanese food. But I only had one special place till I came to this one. Flavors are spectacular. You have to try different kebabs, lavne, the pistacho cream, hummus and the spicy carrots, all with pita bread. French fries were perfect. We were a party of 10 so we got to try many different flavors and desserts. We visited this place on a Monday and had to wait a bit till we had a table set up for us. Waited for less than 30 minutes. Customer service and presentation were fantastic. The pita chips wasn’t what we expected since they were too toasted and hard to eat. Maybe, if there’s a further quick explanation in the menu about every dish would be great, specially for those who hasn’t have a Lebanese food experience before (Also take in account that you can always ask). Other than that, great great great experience.

Highly recommended 😃

By Carlos |

Excellent service and extremely delicious food in a very nice ambience. Still get a place without reservation. That's all there is to say!

amazing

By Misssweater |

Everything this here is fantastic. I was late due to traffice from uptown, kept my table and it was ready when I arrived although the restaurant was packed. The sever was great and and the food very good.

Delicious Mediterranean food!

By xaimaica |

Very charming and nicely decorated spot. Shared falafel (perfectly cooked and not dry), A sweet potato dip with pumpkin seeds and pita, along with the arctic char kebab, and the grilled lamb kebab, all delicious. Excellent service and took time to explain the items on the menu we were unfamiliar with.

Like Mediterranean Tapas!

By Marci S |

My husband and I went here for dinner and had the best experience. The service was wonderful and the food was delicious. We had a full meal of shared dips and appetizers. The falafel and the labneh were especially good. And the baklava ice cream was so unique!

Nice but not great

By Katrin S |

There is a long wait to get into this restaurant unless you make a reservation. It’s middle eastern yet it doesn’t quite get the dishes to reflect true middle eastern flavors. The drink menu though did not disappoint.

Excellent Brunch Menu

By MKJourneys |

1- inside and outside seating . Large bar with seating 2- nice decor with welcoming feel 3- menu is very unique and tasty! 4- service excellent Tip - definitely make reservations they fill up fast. They open at 10:30 we got there at 10:45 and the place was packed by 11:30.

Nice Mediterranean food

By Toosha Z |

Having lived in the Middle East for over 8 yrs, I love Mediterranean food. I have to say when I heard about shuka my expectations were high. Having said that I wasn’t impressed by there hummus however it is very hard to get a hummus right but I loved the spinach dip. I definitely would go there again though to try different dishes because I only tried the dip and the Mediterranean platter which I don’t think is enough to make a full judgement. I have to say that the waiter that served us was lovely though!

Wow - I'm a food snob & this was Delicious

By PatrickLLOYD2014 |

One of our best meals in a long time Food was unique, delicious; with flavor complexity; served@ perfect temperature; and each item was presented & served with care. I loved the lamb skewer. Partner is vegetarian and he loved his choices too. One glitch - they initially seated us in the back room sandwiched between two "6 tops" of jovial (loud) NYU undergrads getting their wine on. It was briefly unpleasant & we were going to just leave. However- they graciously moved us to front room by the window. Awesome seat & server - clearly the adult room. And it was A++ from there forward. Thank you Shuka staff And then across the street to see comedy "bright colors bold patterns" - great fun 2.

Before show drinks

By Mary M |

We sat at the bar for drinks before a Soho Playhouse show. Friendly, good service, full bar, good wine, sat at bar right away.

Damn I love this place!

By crapschick |

Came here for a business lunch for 4 and was overwhelmed by the great selections and how different and unique they are. We started with Crispy Cauliflower (delicious in the sauce they serve with it), marinated cucumbers with seeds, Whipped feta with pistacchio dip.... oh my God. Everything was delicious! Moving onto our entrees, I had the chicken kabab, my co-worker had the falafel, the chicken shawarma and the shakshuka. We all tasted each other's plates. There was not one thing on our table that wasn't absolutely delicious. Absolutely scrumptious. I'm going to plan as many business lunches here as I can.

Exotic Mediterranean Cuisine - Wonderfully Prepared!

By goalee111 |

Shuka is a very special place to enjoy a Mediterranean meal. A nice selection of small plates and larger meals, and the service is friendly and exceptional! Delicious, exotic vegetables, and the chicken shawarma is spectacular. This is a restaurant to have on your "must try" list!

Great Food!

By Laurie M |

Great food, lots of choices. Very attentive servers. Restaurant seems to always be busy so make a reservation.

Great Food. Impeccable Service

By Edward M T |

The experience started out poorly. We had reservations at 6:30 and rushed to get there on time. We were not seated until about 6:45. To their credit, they checked on us every 3-5 minutes. Hannah, the manager apologized genuinely, and cheerfully insisted on picking up our bar tab. The remainder of the evening we were treated like royalty. With 20% tip, the complete meal for three of us was $125. I highly recommend the cauliflower. It is coated in a light batter of panko crumbs and deep fried in a mixture of canola and olive oil. Also, the whipped feta and pistachio dip. It has a nutty, salty flavor and the texture of a firm spread that pairs nicely with the hot, fresh pita bread. I recommend olives and dates. Sweet and salty real food. My favorite was the spiced kebabs, cooked just right with savory dipping sauces. We ended the meal with sesame cookies which have a distinctive, not too sweet flavor. We paired these with ice cream, which was a perfect denouement to a great meal. Of the 10 meals we ate while visiting NYC, this was my favorite. I am always impressed when a manager "gets it." When they see you are unhappy and they turn a problem into a memorable experience, with a positive attitude, a smile and genuine concern. Hats off to Hannah.

Excellent food

By Anganacca |

Different taste, very good. We had the brunch dishes - salad, burger, chicken. All good flavors and mixed ingredients . The service is good

fantastic night thanks to Chef Ayesha

By chefgNY |

How do you select a restaurant in NYC? For me, it depends on the occasion. Friend, date night, special night, looking for a particular cuisine? Shuka was a fabulous destination for my dear friend & me. I just love great food served with know how, in thoughtful surroundings. Shuka has it all. Just look for that fabulous deep turquoise painted exterior and you'll know you are headed for the right place. Once inside you'll find wonderful marble tables and walls covered with a gentle moroccan tiles. You arrived at a spot where the food excels and the interior warms the spirits . The mezze are outstanding. You can easily spend an hour dipping into the incredible selection while sipping a glass or more of wine. I just loved the Fava Hummus with chick peas, the spicy carrots, the Muhammad, followed by the lamb tagine. So much great tasting food I could have stayed for hours.....I'll be back.

Have recently moved to west

By DinerWithoutBorders |

Have recently moved to west village and stumbled upon this gem completely by accident. The hostess Brinley is spectacular! So professional! No airs, no pretense, no bs. Beautiful human being🤗. The food is out of this world, if you like delicious middle eastern, good service, hoping they’ll expand the cocktail menu a little now that we’re heading into fall, perhaps some bourbon cocktails 🙏. But the restaurant is truly amazing. We’ve been 4 times in the last 3 weeks. Would have been more, but we’re last minute people lol. Love love love. Can’t go wrong with any dish but the hummus, fries & chicken shawarma is to die for! No joke!

Best Mediterranean in NYC!

By stingley23 |

Fantastic! Why did it take us until our last day here in NYC to find Shuka!? What a great place - awesome service, food, cocktails and vibe. We had an excellent lunch of whipped feta & pistachio dip, chickpea salad and the spiced chicken kebab. All was so perfectly spiced, very well prepared and just deeelish! Oh, and the cocktails we had - the Tunis (tequila, red bell pepper, lime, agave & cilantro bitters) and the Limonana (vodka, hibiscus, lemon, cardamom and soda) were very...well we had a few rounds, put it that way!

Fantastic food and experience.

By InShapeTraveler |

Fantastic food and experience - especially for a group due to the menu options. Plenty of great food for a reasonable price. Drinks were nice as well. The Shuka Feast is great for groups as the selection is broad and tasty. Our group of 5 had a great time and enjoyed every bite.

A superb place to eat

Great spot for a business lunch!

One of my favorite restaurants in SoHo! The food is magnificent and the vibe and decor is stunning! Love to go there with friends or have a nice business lunch with colleagues. The fried halloumi is to die for!

A gem for Middle Eastern food

By 408zvil |

There is such a vast array of eating places in NYC that you get lost in a shuffle...where do I go to eat tonight? What kind of food? How expensive? How far? Well, we face these questions every evening while visiting NY so here is a gem of a place in West Village , a 25 minutes Uber drive from the heart of Midtown so well worth it. The place was packed with diners yet you have your space and they don’t rush you to place your order. The Middle Eastern type of food was very tasty, warm, nicely presented and enjoyable. The waiter was pleasant, not pushy and always there to help. The price was surprisingly very reasonable in NY standards and we had a great evening. I highly recommend Shuka for you good food lovers.

Nice

By Sanjay0123456 |

Decent food, nice service though I did not especially enjoy the lunch. The shawarma was nice, felafel too tough and baklava underwhelming.

Wonderful, flavorful food.

By Lisa |

Wonderful, flavorful food. Sweet potatoes were fabulous, Brussels sprouts amazing. No need for meat when the vegetables are this delicious, but the chicken kebab was moist and flavorful too.

A bright spot in a a neighborhood with lots of options.

By Larry G |

We felt exceptionally welcome as soon as we walked through the door. Our server was really nice, funny and efficient. The food we terrific and came quickly, but we never felt rushed. The restaurant was busy and vibrant but conversation was easy. Can't wait to go back.

Stop at Shuka!! Lebanese at its best!

By MBDUNLAP |

OMG!! The flavors were amazing! Each thing we ordered was more amazing than the last! The kebabs were freaking amazing (chicken in particular), the whipped feta and pistachios (could not stop eating), and the asparagus was so fresh and I can’t stop about the fries l! And the Empire State Building in view!!

Beautiful food, impeccable service

Shuka: Unique, Diverse, Eternal

By People_Watcher2018 |

While awaiting your food and even while eating observe the various people in the Shuka working community. One super tall custodian/examiner, etc. roams the dining area and looks about far and wide from her high altitude apparently to make sure that everyone is still breathing, working, thinking, whatever-else-ing. Other regular waiters’ and waitresses’ faces are as smile-filled/pasted as possible, yet simultaneously in the cornices of their visages present a careful scrutiny of themselves and their audience, perhaps part of overseeing appropriate and most important safe demeanor from all restaurant visitors. Regular waiters and waitresses carry this quasi knight-like repertoire replete with complex questions from the start, e.g., asking even what kind of water you want, later graciously offering extra pita. Space is Shuka’s ultimate question; especially witness the sign that declares 134 the absolute legal limit of customers allowed in the space. On a quick count the tables all together seem to allow perhaps 90-100 seated eaters. The actual residing space for dishes and silverware admits that the goal seems to overflow the square inches on each tabletop. This occurs so fully that one or another eater often has to skimp on her/his hand and utensil movements lest s/he sends the delivered victuals and their resting places toward the floor or beyond. Customers/eaters this time this day include two gentlemen to the far right of the bar space who although all the other bar spaces stay still unoccupied are obviously intent on remaining alone, at tables four pairs, men with men, women with women, and men with women, their early morning faces declaring focused smiles for and attention to their would-be or actual life partners. Our repast included first Falafel and Tahini; Chocolate Babka French Toast with Milk Chocolate, Whipped Cream and Pomegranates; the Mediterranean plate, sweeter even than the face of the most smiling waitress; Malawach Hummus, Falafel, Tahini, Hard Boiled Egg, Marinated Cucumbers, Turmeric Pickles, Pita; and Shakshuka (does the name of this dish connect to Shake Shack?), Eggs Poached in Spicy Tomato, Halloumi, Roasted Cauliflower, Pita. McDougal Street still shows a mélange of walkers similar to those of its late 1950s, early 1960s past century high moments with the addition only of delivery bicycles. Memorize how you entered because every other space with potential exit access to McDougal Street encompasses a filled table, even at 10:30-ish a.m. weekend opening time. The uniqueness and diversity of Shuka embody the multi-faceted meaning of the word Shuka itself. Coming to know the word Shuka helps one to understand that in Shuka s/he tastes the world.

Worth another visit

By EHF |

We choose Shuka because it was in walking distance to our hotel. If you like the Mediterranean/Arabic food the restaurant is a good choice. The taste is more authentic as I did expect it in the US. A pleasant surprise was that the restaurant also has a halfway decent selection of wines and spirits, but the prices are somewhat high for the offered drinks. But the overall experience was this good that I would consider this restaurant again if I happen to stay in this area of NYC.

Excellent service and delicious food!

By Cavi |

This place was awesome! We got very lucky with this one since we chose it by location and we were able to get a table with no reservation. The salad with watermelon and whipped feta was divine! I think our favorite was the fried halloumi cheese. Our server was a nice lady that was authentic and confident giving us excellent recommendations.

Expected More

By erinontheroad |

Came for brunch on a busy Saturday- had a reservation and got seated right away by the bar. It was so noisy my husband and I could barely have a conversation. We ordered drinks and studied the menu. My husband ordered the lamb burger and I had the chicken flatbread sandwich. We wanted to try the Zatar fries so we ordered those as well. We didn’t know my husband’s burger would come with a mountain of fries as well- the server made no mention and seemed annoyed when we said we didn’t want another bowl of fries. The burger was a little dry and my sandwich was unwieldy to eat- flavors were so so.

Really enjoyed the expeience

By Kathleen L |

I loved this place - the location & atmosphere are very special and the food was surprisingly good. We tried several items to start - don't pass on the dates - they were amazing ! We shared kebobs and salad. for dinner. Simple food well prepared. I plan on coming back.

Great Lunch Spot

By Destination259072 |

Came here for a lunch with coworkers. 6 of us split the Mediterranean plate as an appetizer and it was perfect. We all had kebabs with pita for lunch: steak, shrimp and chicken. For dessert we had the gelato & sorbet - toasted almond, Turkish coffee, blackberry and dark chocolate. We had the Beaujolais and two cocktails. Everything was great. The service was also great. Would go again.

DIA: Extraordinary service and attention at Sulka.

By Robert V |

DIA: Phenomenal Service and attention. My lady and I visited this very lively and frenetic Mediterranean restaurant for the first time due to its inviting menu and location. The restaurant was overflowing with people and conversation in this attractive, large and spacious restaurant. Despite all the loud background noise and activity our Moroccan waitress, Dia, provided the careful attention and gracious service one rarely finds these days. She was knowledgeable about the menu, and the food, as well as the wines, and provided extraordinarily prompt, gracious and attentive service. In addition the waiter, who poured our wine, knew precisely where and how to stand on the proper side of the customer to provide a welcome experience in high class service. My companion and I found it amazing that they were able to provide such singular attention to us despite the extremely busy Friday night we had chosen to visit. The mean was also excellent and the wines both different and delicious. Great job and thanks to DIA and the wonderful management of this delightful Mediterranean restaurant. We will most certainly return.

Great restaurant

The food was excellent! The service was very good. Make a reservation the restaurant gets crowded. Highly recommend the restaurant

Very good food, vines & service. Superb!

By Samu |

This place is awesome, great energy (I ate at the bar), the food was brilliant, super tasty, nice selection of wines as well.

Famous restaurant address with new kitchen.

By Phayao13 |

We ate Lamb Meringue / Fattoush as well as Chicken Kebab, spiced yogurt, pita. Here I have eaten well over the years first and foremost from Provencal cuisine. Now the Mediterranean-Middle Eastern kitchen has moved into new semi-elegant costume.Food from regional or at least interpretations is straightforward, tasty and colorful. To be in Soho it is stated that the prices are humane which of course contributes to the restaurant visit feeling satisfactory. Quick and friendly service which is necessary at lunch.

Weekend brunch with a crowd

By Susy S |

We LOVE this place! The service is fabulous and everything we’ve tried on the menu (which with a group of 9 is almost the entire thing) was wonderfully flavorful and bountiful! We go every time we’re in NY.

Loved it

By beeps2 |

Great food. Great friendly staff and ambiance. It’s not pricey either. Perfect to share plates. Good location also.

Mediterranean delight

By HowSoonIsNow3 |

Great choices for vegetarians. Everything was delicious and the service as attentive. Kale salad and fried halloumi were stand outs.

Good food; small portions

By Allan J |

This is a comfortable restaurant at he western edge of SoHo. Service is friendly and competent. The food is very tasty. The mezze are creative take-offs on familiar dishes. We had, and enjoyed, the crispy cauliflower and the fva hummus with whole chick peas on top. We ate them with relish. The main courses are savory takes on middle eastern dishes. They use fresh, high quality ingredients. Portions are small, but with mezze and the main you don't get up humgry. The side is our only complaint. The fatoush was basically lettuce with a few tiny pita croutons. The value was excellent. If you're inthe area, you should strongly consider it for a Middle Eastern meal!

jewel of a spot

By Wendy L |

First time here, had dinner with my son. Lovely evening. The food at Shuka is great, pure and simple. We had the chef's meal, which began with an enormous plate of mezes - don't skip the falafel (it's amazing.) That was followed by a platter of kebabs - beef, chicken and my favorite - the lamb. Delicious. Great, warm service and a lovely vibe. Can't wait to come back.

A Great Find

By jbgshrink |

Shuka has been renovated since the space's prior incarnation and it is now attractive, comfortable, and casual. The menu for lunch is limited but definitely has enough choices. What I found most striking was how beautiful each dish was. And, yes, it tasted as good as it looked. Two of us first shared the Fattoush Salad, which was very lightly dressed but perfect with its greens, red onion, cucumber, toasted pita chips, perfect seasoning and spectacular pieces of halloumi ie. cheese which was delicately deep fried. We then shared the Mediterranean Plate which had falafel, labne, egg, beautiful beet hummus, etc. The side of spicy carrots had mustard seeds in it and was generous and great. The place was packed for lunch and it deserved to be. We'll return.

Very Good Mediterranean Option

By MarC25 |

It ticks a lot of boxes: very good food, fairly large servings, spacious space that can accommodate groups, easy to make reservations and reasonable prices. What we find really excellent are the mezzes: friend haloumi, crispy cauliflowers, falafels and the za’atar fries. However, main course offerings are limited to kebabs which are nothing special. It used to have more entrees which are no longer on offer. Also, there were a lot of servers yet somehow, we still ended up following up on our orders. If you want more choices albeit at a higher price with smaller servings, Jose Andres’ Zaytinya is also worth checking out.

Decent food, lousy service

By brmusicman |

We went for dinner on a Sunday night, with an 8pm reservation. Between a table not being ready at our reserved time and extraordinarily slow service, we did not receive our first food until 9pm. Reservation issue handled poorly. We arrived on-time. After a few seconds of hushed giggling between them, the hostesses told us a table wasn't ready and to get drinks (not on the house) at the bar, which was a joke, because it was packed with diners and impossible to get a bartender's attention. We were seated a half-hour late, at a dim table in the back corner. Our server took several minutes to appear and then asked us only about water and disappeared. Placing an order took 25 minutes. Insane. This sort of service took place the whole night. Our server was nice, but often absent and clueless. Wine was served incorrectly. The food was fine. Elevated Mediterranean. Good, not amazing. Highlights were the dips and fried halloumi. Was the food worth $100+/person (with wine)? No, particularly when paired with a long wait, poorly managed reservation, and lousy service.

Busy but why?

By JeffreyFireIsland |

Came for brunch on a Saturday- had 2pm reservations and seated at 220pm-place packed. It took a while for water and coffee but given how crowded it was that was understandable. We ordered the squash hummus to start and it was good- pita bread fluffy but not hot. We all got different courses -Mediterranean Plate had 4 large falafels, pickles, could not find the cucumbers -ok but $18? Shakshuka was good, Jaffa omelette ok,Tunisian Breakfast very spicy /hot and not told this by waitress, Brunch bowl fine- prices are very high for volume of food

Nice atmosphere

By Maurizio S |

Restaurant with nice atmosphere. Good selection of different type of dishes. Quality, in my opinion, is good enought but a bit pricy.

Excellent choice

By Potomac_11 |

Relaxed pretty space. Good service. All our dishes were very good, nothing fancy. For a casual lunch in SoHo, this is an excellent choice.

Food was very good. Service was not.

By Jen C |

The food, especially the dips and pita were very tasty. And I'd maybe go back and sit at the bar for those, with a beverage. My husband, who ordered falafel, never got it. Everyone else was more than half way done when he asked the waiter if they had even been started. Nope. Also our order of fries came very late in the meal. The bill came and the falafel was still on there. Too many other choices in the city to try instead.

Worth the wait!

By Mara777777 |

Food was delicious. Service was attentive, from the hostess, to the bartender, to the wait staff. Very nice ambience as well. Would hardly recommend making reservations well ahead of time. We tried the day before and it was all booked. For a Monday night! Luckily they do take walk ins. Just be prepared to wait. They told us an hour. We were seated in 40’. Worth the wait.

Delicious dinner

By happyperson18 |

We ate dinner at Shuka last night. The service was great, the restaurant is beautiful. We ate in the back area that looks like a beautiful porch but in reality is indoors but has the feel of being outdoors. We had many appetizers that were all wonderful: zucchini florets, beet tzatziki, pistachio hummus, chickpeas, falafel. The main courses were also wonderful:chicken shawarma , vegetarian paella. We will definitely return !

Nice Ambience for Work Lunch Hour

Contemporary Mediterranean joint on MacDougal St. 11/15/19 Meal Highlights: Shakshuka, Fried Halloumi*, and Kofta. Also the dressing that comes on the side with the Fattoush salad is mah-velous!

Wonderful brunch!

By Cancersucksprep |

I lucked out since I was dining solo to grab a first come first served seat at the packed bar~otherwise an hour wait for brunch. Lively atmosphere~ great people watching. Bartender super attentive and friendly. Nice pour of my Sauvignon Blanc and my green Shakshuka was delicious and come out quickly! The Mediterranean platter and the cocktails looked great! Highly recommend.

A lot to like about Shuka!

By bigosfan |

First visit to NYC and first to Shuka. To start, the restaurant is small'ish so getting a reservation is highly recommended. The service was top notch, our server provided recommendations and helped guide us how much to order, food came out on time and he checked back at just the right times. For the food - we ordered 1 dip (whipped feta), 2 mezza (fennel & apple, chicory salad), we shared a lamb kabab and a bottle of grenache/sryah. All came with plenty of pita bread. All of this was in a word, fabulous! To top it off the restaurant was well decorated with a good vibe. Someday we will make another trip to NYC and I hope Shuka is just the same as we will visit again. BTW - my wife is gluten intolerant, the menu and our server offered several choices.

Delightful Restaurant

By AccurateReviews |

My daughter and I loved our lunch at Shuka. Each dish was extremely tasty. Portion sizes were all very generous and all the servers we encountered were delightful. Highly recommend Shuka.

Great food

Delicious food, authentic Middle Eastern, good portion sizes and good service. Really enjoyed the meal and will definitely go back

We Ate It All

By CDinDC20009 |

Summary: Fantastic middle eastern food. Great savory food. Not to be missed olive oil cake and -- to top it off -- chocolate babka French toast. It's impossible to look at the menu without dreaming of over-ordering. Start with the fried halloumi. Crisp outside, toothsome inside, and delicious. Consider another order, but move on to the whipped feta and pistachio. Consider another order of that, but move on to the other dips, Definitely order the malawach (note the yemenite flatbread), don't skip the kuku frittata, and get a fattoush salad for the greens (and the fried halloumi). Wash it down with moroccan mint tea -- or maybe the turkish cold brew or the moroccan mary -- and move on to the sweets. Leave happy. Try to figure out when you come back. Most important: go with at least a few other people so that you can have a bit of as many dishes as possible. It's all good.

Very nice brunch place

By doritg888 |

Loved the ambience of the restaurant . Food was all delicious . We had a wonderful lunch. Only problem it was that super hot weekend in NYC and that place has no Aircon . But that was the only negative point . A super cool place for great food

Great Mediterranean food restaurant.

By Barnesms |

Great Mediterranean food restaurant. Comfortable little place. Excellent service. Awesome food. Strong recommendation.

This is a find!!! Great Soho location, but worth a trip from other 'hoods!

By JDinLA |

We settled on this restaurant at the last minute, at about 8:30-9PM on a Monday night. Although we got a table right away, it was PACKED! Once you try the middle eastern food, you'll understand why. You can have a dinner of mezzes, or appetizers.

Delicious chicken kebabs!

By BlackMambaNumberFive |

We enjoyed a heart and delicious dinner at Shula recently. The chicken kebabs were my favorite. We liked the red meat kebabs just as much. The hummus and seafood dip were great appetizers. The bread was soft and tasty too. The service was good. The atmosphere was lively, which I love for a Saturday night.

A great find for brunch

By Jane C |

A beautiful Moroccan inspired menu with friendly service. The cinnamon rolls were amazing and a must try! We also had the Moroccan Potatoes and eggs along with the Phyllo Nest. Sitting at the bar still gave us the privacy we needed to catch up with my daughter while having the opportunity to get served quickly.

Really nice Middle Eastern food

By dedalus75000 |

If you like Middle Eastern food, you’ll like this place. Really tasty food, nice atmosphere...the pita breads could be a little thiner, but I definitely recommend this place.

out-of-the-ordinary brunch

By jenrico00 |

Brunch had a great selection of interesting and tasty options - friendly for meat-eaters and vegetarians alike. Food was flavorful and atmosphere was cozy.

great food and great atmosphere

By TeriKwi |

A friend recommended Shuka as a great place during our recent trip to NYC, it exceeded our expectations. All three of us were extremely pleased with the food, it was fresh and full of flavor. When I visit NYC, I like to try new places vs. returning to the same restaurants, however, Shuka is one I plan to revisit during future trips!

Fantastic

By MicaMaria |

Was there for lunch and found the food Delicious!!! Very tasty. The kebab was delicious and the Mediterranean plate was to die for. Definitely worth the calories! Oh, and try the cucumber lemonade. Super fresh!!!!

Best meal of the trip

We booked a table in advance and were made very welcome. There is a great menu very good for veggies. Atmosphere is relaxed and food imaginative and delicious. This place won't disappoint.

Perfect Sunday brunch, with a twist!

By Discover517276 |

Perfect Sunday brunch located in West Village. Menu is Mediterranean but with strong Lebanese influence. All the dips were amazing, especially whipped feta and pistachio!! All the brunch mains were stunning and we couldn’t help trying each others. Would 100% recommend but be sure to book!!

Pretty awesome brunch plav

By Sherpa47497 |

The menu is perfectly suited for brunch / lunch, and has an amazing Mediterranean twists... we had the Mediterranean platter , chicken shawarma , lamb burger and an assortment of wine and drinks... the shawarma for one was amazing , and would recommend it as a must try.. with perfectly cooked chicken... The staff here is most friendly , and simply amazing...

Good

By Shalu2127 |

Good Mediterranean food, good service , pretty fast too, many lace itself is very inviting and cost, just a couple big options for vegetarians

Not good

By LondonerAbroad29 |

Poor value - not great if you’re European. Food was not up to par for the price. It was quite the let down having travelled intentionally to it.

Love the place!! a great find

We randomly walked into this place and it was the best decision. One of the best meals of our trip- would strongly recommend. The staff was really nice and food was amazing!!

Dips & Mezze & Kebabs, oh my!

By Brigid |

While in NYC for business I was recommended by a friend to check out Shuka and WOW did that experience turn around my Tuesday night. My colleague and I were easily able to get bar seats, where we were immediately greeted by the friendliest and incredibly knowledge bartenders and waitstaff who took the time to explain the menu, the restaurant background and provide suggestions for our dinner. The menu changes basically every day, which shows the commitment to fresh. Go for the Feast, so you can try a little bit of everything.

Middle eastern Restaraunt

By seanworc |

This is a fine dining Middle Eastern restaurant on the edge of SOHO and Greenwich Village. Just off 6th Avenue and Prince Street. Best train stop is Prince Street on the N and R lines. This spot used to be a well known French restaurant called Provence that we loved. Menu is a wide selection of Middle Eastern food with an emphasis on Israeli food. There are shawarma, spinach pie, fried halloumi cheese, various dips and pita bread, fattoush salad, shakshuka, among others. Best bet is order a bunch of plates and sample. Plenty of beverage options. We thought the food was great. Service was OK.

Awesome Health brunch

By Susan P |

My friend and I filled up on a hearty, delicious and healthy brunch at Shula before embarking on a brisk walking tour. I had the green shashuka...greens, chick peas, poached eggs, garlic yogurt, sesame....outstanding!!

Middle East next door

By Allan H |

Excellent middle Eastern cuisine. We had the Kabobs, and all were cooked to perfection and delicious. A few appetizers and the excellent bread. We lucked out and had a fantastic waiter, who was helpful and entertaining. Oh, and the ice cream desert he recommended was amazing

Disappointing Brunch Experience at Shuka

By Michelle |

Came to Shuka for the second time and had an incredibly disappointing experience. I had been for dinner before and enjoyed it, so I went back for brunch but would not return in the future. I ordered the shakshuka and found a hair in my food. Although this was somewhat disgusting, it does happen occasionally but I was really disappointed in how it was handled by the restaurant. I told one waitress, who promptly took the plate away without so much as an apology. Then another staff member came over and apologized and said she was going to bring me another meal. She asked if I wanted anything in the meantime, which I declined. I then waited approximately 20 minutes for them to bring out my food, at which point all of the rest of the people in my group had already finished their meals. I felt that the staff should have been more honest about how long it would take to get the replacement, because if I knew it was going to take so long, I might not have wanted another one. Then once I finally got the second meal, the eggs in the shakshuka were completely undercooked, and really not safe for consumption. The restaurant did remove my meal from the bill and also brought out a dessert on the house, however they only brought out one dessert and 8 forks since I was in a group of 8. I felt that since my food fiasco delayed everyone’s meal, they could have at least given us a second dessert so everyone could try. Overall, I was sorely disappointed and will not be returning.

Food OK, Noise loud

By Adi T |

we were a group of 8. celebrating my son's birthday. No complaints about the food. It was good. The problem is the noise. IN ADDITION to the regular people noise, the background music was very loud and did not really allow any conversation. After the third request to lower the volume (or at lease change the type of that irritating music), the manager came by and said "there is no way to lower the music". I then asked to stop the music for 15 minutes until we leave, the manager said: " I have no was of stopping the music". I really came out with a headache and can not say the dinner was enjoyable.

Glorified Greek Food

By robbi22 |

Beautiful decor. Great drinks. Menu is very nice but I could have eaten at a Greek place for half the price. The Whipped Feta + Pistachio is delicious. The Malawach did not have enough tomatoes. Our waiter upsold us on our meal. Three items we ordered all had some kind of bread. He could have told us this fact before we ordered all three. The Spit Roasted Chicken Shawarma (very spicy) & Stuffed Peppers were excellent. $12 for the babka dessert is a rip off. I could buy a whole babka for that price.

Disappointed

By Rschagrin |

Went with friends who live in NYC and have been here twice. They were also disappointed. Our server Nabia was excellent and very attentive. We ordered a ton of appetizers: Grilled Corn at the Shuka with Tarragon Yogurt, Harissa Powder,Beet Tzatziki with Cucumber& Yogurt, Whipped Feta + Pistachio Dill, Taramasalata which is Smoked Arctic Char & Trout Roe , Fried Halloumi with Spiced Yogurt, and Falafel with Tahini. All is just fair. For mains, we had the Pork Kofta and Hawaij Spiced Chicken, both just ok. Sorry not returning.

Worth a visit.

By NANCY B |

Cool/ buzzy spot. Food was good/ interesting. All the food comes out at once (which was challenging given that there were two of us sitting at the bar…. Plus 5 plates and drinks….😩

Superb Mediterranean food

By David Z |

My wife saw this restaurant on amine of the daytime television shows and decided we needed to try it out for Saturday brunch. We started with the feta pistachio hummus served with warm pita. It was, to say the least, excellent. The color was a vibrant green and the texture had just the right amount of crunch. For our main dishes we had the shakshuka and the roasted chicken shawarma. Again neither of these disappointed. The shakshuka was piping hot yet the eggs were done to perfection. The tomato sauce had the right amount of spice to it. The shawarma was so overloaded with chicken (I’m not complaining) that I had to start off eating the filling part way down until I was able to pick it up and finish it off. The service was excellent and efficient. My only regret is that we don’t live in New York as this would be a regular dining spot.

Excellent mediterranean meal

By rmwhitt44 |

Lovely restaurant that specializes in mediterranean food. Service was great and efficient, even though we were a large party on a Saturday night so it did get noisy inside. Extensive list of appetizers was heavy on veggie dishes and we sampled a number of them (roasted carrots and Brussel sprouts dishes were terrific). Chicken Kebab (a single kabob served) was tender and tasty. Limited dessert menu--try the marscapone ice cream with baklava slivers--we all dug in!

Fantastic food!

By aculhane |

Great selection of food!! Everything was delicious!! Staff was excellent and advised on each portion of the meal. Also very vegetarian friendly with great selection and choice. Price is reasonable particularly given the quality of the food.

Splendid dining experience

By Lackerfollow |

We happened upon this restaurant and will definitely return. Sitting in the front room was cozy and the modern mediterranean decor hits just the right note. The whipped feta and pistachio dish was sublime. We also ordered the chicken platter and lamb kabobs and they were perfectly prepared as well. Perfectly gracious service. All around, an excellent dinner.

Food was okay. Service was not.

By RDHD |

I was really looking forward to visiting Shuka during a recent trip to NYC. My schedule was busy so i did not make a reservation but there was plenty of space at the bar when i arrived so my friend and i sat there. Service from the snotty bartender was a bummer. I don’t need you to coddle me, but being polite shouldn’t be optional if you’re working in the service industry. When we arrived there was almost no one at the bar so there wasn’t a reason to be terse and unpleasant as far as I can tell. That said --- Get a reservation and the yummy feta and pistachio dip and you will be set! Bar seating is okay until it fills up and there is no room to move your arms.

Late night eats and drinks

By RachyPoodles343 |

We popped in here after a awful visit to Cafe Wha? and ended up having a lovely time. We sat at the bar and had a brilliant waiter who recommended some drinks and food. Ordered the Halloumi and Brussels with some bread and it was divine! We wished we were staying longer in NYC so we could come for a proper meal here but we hope to return on our next trip! Highly recommend

Good brunch spot

By cemile h |

Went to the restaurant for brunch. Has a nice location in Soho, off Prince street. Though we started early the place got busy very quickly. Enoyed the setting and the service very much - it was quick, staff was polite and very attentive. Nice menu, full with north african/mediterranean dishes sush as labneh, tatziki, shakshuka, etc. Maybe it was what I ordered (poached eggs with potatoes, served with a harissa sauce), but I found the food a bit underwhelming. Nothing wrong with it as such, but the combination didn’t marry well in my opinion. Not traditional and possibly an acquired choice to say the least, even though I’m quite familiar with the cuisine. For dessert we tried the chocolate babka french toast and that was tasty. Would be tempted to come back and try something else another time. Coffee (flat white) was definitely good.

Fresh Innovative Mediterrean Cuisine

By Erica V |

Wonderful Lunch or Brunch Neighborhood Spot. Highly recommend the Fattoush Salad with Halloumi and Mediterrean Platter.

FOOD POISONING - BEWARE!

By markKTM |

I was violently sick from the food at Shuka. As sick as I have ever been, and missed an entire day of appointments due to it. Manager Hannah would only offer me a return invitation for what I suffered, but I have no interest in returning there, I think it would turn my stomach to smell their food after what I endured for 24 hours afterward. Their public restrooms being adjacent to their kitchen might be a problem? I don’t know, but it was a horrible experience and I’m glad to be back on my feet after severe diarrhea and vomiting as a result of dining at Shuka. Eat there at your own risk!

Creative food

By budeva |

Very cozy with creative and delicious food. The feta pistachio dip was amazing, and so were the fried halloumi and the mushroom appetizer. The chicken shawarma was very tasty but on the small side and it was served over bread which was chewy. The service was excellent. I am sorry I forgot the name of our server but he was great—overall very positive experience.

Top restaurant

By 661438Rob |

This restaurant is located in the SoHo district where there are many fine dining options. You can eat outside on the patio or inside, it is busy at both lunch and dinner, so reservations are recommended. We were completely impressed with the food, wine and service. Staff was very nice and attentive, and the menu contains many nice choices so you can put together a delicious meal yourself. We have a favorite restaurant in NY

Shuka

By Michael S |

The pistachio feta hummus was incredible, plain hummus very good, chicken schwarma delicious, arctic char kebobs very good but small portion, Mediterranean paella least favorite- definitely would return.

Great place

By Upstate |

We had a great experience at Shuka! My friend and I did "The Feast" and it was absolutely delicious. The Lamb, and dips were spectacular. We had reservations on a Friday, and the place was packed, so you for sure need to make sure you have reservations if you're going on a weekend!

Tasty food. Too noisy

By knowsnyc |

This has outdoor tables as well as some that seem outdoors but aren’t. And there are indoor tables. I had grilled asparagus, a generous portion well-grilled. The wait person was excellent. It is too noisy for conversation.
