I have to start with the fact that I don't usually like Indian Food. But decided if I visit India I better like the food. We ordered 3 dishes Bhindi Masala, Vegetable Jalfrazie and I can't remember the 3rd. They were delicious and a little spicy which was OK. Though the portions look small they are so filling.

Average in taste and variety. Not the best place for buffet, have had far better. The service is poor and the seating's are also sloppy.

We had dinner here on a Friday night. The food tasted good, but was not exceptional, and entrees did not come with rice or naan, which seemed a little odd/cheap. Most of the service was okay, but the owner seemed to only care about certain parties who he already knew. He lavished attention on some tables and seemed annoyed that he had to speak to others. (I don't actually care if I meet a restaurant's owner, but the contrast was pretty noticeable.) Decor and ambiance were okay but dated. One party brought in a shrieking toddler close to 10pm, which was not the restaurant's fault, except that they seemed to be one of the owner's pet parties, and this definitely made us want to leave sooner. This is probably a great place if you're the kind of person the restaurant wants to serve, but with so many Indian restaurants to try in San Antonio I can't imagine giving this one another chance.

My girlfriend ordered Seekh Kabobs. She got some supermarket frozen-food Swedish meatballs that had been poked with a stick and then microwaved. It was seriously only 5 minutes between the time we sat down and the time our food was served an impossible amount of time to prepare anything fresh. For these little disgusting lumps of processed meat we were charged $10. The rest of food wasn't much better. As for service, we had to argue with the manager for over charging us for several items, and not once did they ask us if we were enjoying our meal, despite most of our food going untouched and full dishes piling up on the table. This place was one of the worst experiences I've had in any restaurant. Simi's is a cheap miserable rip-off and should be avoided at all costs.

I'm NOT an authority on Indian food; I am a strict vegan who'd been searching for the perfect Indian restaurant with a delicious vegan feast at a moderate price. Before Simi's, I'd sampled the buffets in 5 other top-rated Indian restaurants, looking for even one that specialized in serving large amounts of thoroughly cooked low-fat vegetables prepared with low oil and NO cream or eggs. No other buffet even came close until I arrived here at Simi's, a North India-style restaurant, my go-to restaurant from now on and my delightful prize for my perseverance! They offered me both a variety of mixed veggies and individual vegetables, curries and channa masala. My entire thrilling meal included perfectly spiced cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, vegetable samosas, lentils, rice, Zucchini & tomatoes, vegetable biryani, peas pullao, dumplings, daal, and a delicate naan. (I believe there may have been more, but I was so enthusiastic that I popped them into my mouth too fast to keep track, haha!) I never arrived at the far end of the buffet because my plate was too full to go further, but before I left, I discovered their green salad section, and a selection of their regular Indian desserts, such as kheer, fresh fruit and a mango pudding. If you are more of a connoisseur of Indian food, my review will leave you lacking info about their halal meats, egg and creamy offerings, so why not drop between 11am-3 pm 7 days a week and see for yourself why this place is so highly ranked among San Antonio's Indian restaurants?

This place was GREAT! Very tasty and large helpings! I had the Simi Special which had a little of everything! Great service too!

Have never tasted anything so bad I had to though the whole thing in the trash just wasted $40.00 please trust me this was bad

I love the Indian dish of Achari mushroom. Most other Indian/Pakistani do not prepare this special dish. My first time visit at this location, for Mothers Day I treated myself & my best friend for my Indian meal.,our husbands do not like Indian food BUT WE SURE DO!!! It is small, cozy but waitress & waiters were the best! Very attentive to our needs. They have a section for a more private sitting if you like. I will certainly go back again.

been coming here for years great family owned restaurant. big selection during buffet hours but i love coming for dinner its very relaxing environment and really good food

Generally speaking, I avoid buffets at all cost - I don't like to eat from a pot that has been "explored" by many others and has been sitting out for an unknown (to me) amount of time. This place was worth making an exception for. While I found their dishes comparable to other Indian restaurants I've visited, it was ALL fresh. It was noteworthy to my group (five adults) that virtually everyone eating in the restaurant when we arrived appeared to be from India - a strong indicator of authenticity, I believe! We were also pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere. From the outside, it looks like a simple cafe, but the inside is nicely decorated and arranged (tables have tablecloths and are not crowded together). We were in San Antonio for my son's basic military training graduation, and we wanted him to enjoy some meals different than he could find on base. He and his wife love Indian food, so this was a treat - all of us declared this was a restaurant we'd visit again.

Always a wide variety of choices on the lunch buffet. Masala chai is served hot, wonderful flavor. Staff is attentive and friendly. Very enjoyable lunch spot during the work week.

I love Indian food. I the UK you can find a magnificent Indian restaurant in almost any corner. When we I'm in England Indian food is an important part of or trip. In SA there are not to many choices so we searched which one was the best ant his one appeared in the top 3 We discovered there was a buffet so we went for it. The buffet has a variety of typical dishes and al where very good. All sorts of curry dishes such as tikka masala, korma curry, Naan Bread, and vegetable and soups. All where quite good understanding that you are in SA and not a major Metropolitan city with sophisticated restaurants. Good experience

large buffet and good menu items.

Stopped by on a Sunday last week. Very good selection of vegetarian and other dishes. I tried almost everyone and found them good. It's location I would say would be relatively easy to find for an out of town traveler.

Overall consisitently great food and great service! Awesome buffet. Owners always on site and customer service is very good!

The food was great and Julio provided fantastic service! We were the only Indians and a little girl (may be 5 year old) who was at another table commented loudly how much she liked the rice. My daughter who says is tired of Indian food, enjoyed her Garlic Naan and Butter Chicken. My husband and I got the Vegetable Biriyani and the Shrimp Curry Madras and both were very good.

The staff are courteous, some quite friendly; prompt, attentive, and they maintain drink orders and keeping the buffet items fresh. We get chai when we go here, most often for eating out on special occasions. Being retired we like the variety and offer of great food on the buffet. You can choose to only eat a variety of vegetarian dishes or combine with a few meat items - lamb meatballs, Tandori chicken, and a couple of other items. Their Naan is very nice and fresh. We cannot say enough to extol its virtue of food and comparable price. They even have a couple recipes posted on their website that I've made sure to collect to make at home.

Some think so. Its very good with a great atmosphere. Being a big fan of curry helps but they have all kinds of veggie dishes, a good wine and beer list and even Indian beer. Great place.

I have eaten at plenty of Indian restaurants both in India and many other places in the world. This place by far is the worst one EVER. The positive ratings are clearly by the people who are associated with the restaurant in some manner. We intended to have a full dinner with appetizer, entree and dessert. However, when the soup came, it was a warmed up canned soup. The manager even said if the soup tastes bad then we can add some black pepper to it and pointed at the pepper shaker. The seekh kabob I ordered were frozen Swedish meatballs with neither the quality of seekh or kabob to it. My bf ordered chicken tikka masala which was just a reheated frozen dish. Whoever says that the CTM was to die for either never had real chicken tikka masala or they are being deceptive. The mango lassi was just a boxed Mango Fruti which game in a wine glass which was three-quarters filled with ice. Three sips and your mango lassi is gone for the mere price of $2.95. By the time I took one bite of the Swedish meatball delicacy which was supposed to seekh kabobs, I realized that my stomach started to curse me for putting such offensive food in it. When we wanted the check, almost every food item we ordered were on the table with maybe one or two bites eaten. Neither the owner nor the manager came and asked if everything was ok. we didn't even want to box such awful food. When the bill came I found out that they had over charged us for some items. When we asked our waiter to bring an accurate bill he came back and tried to explain something in some language which wasn't English. I have nothing against people whose first language is not English. However, they do not make the best negotiator of incorrect bills when they cannot communicate. The manager came and yelled at us and told us that we should just subtract the difference from the total instead of giving us an accurate bill. The force you to pay a 15% tip because I suspect they won't be tipped otherwise. Please stay away.

Being a true lover of the cuisine, I've tried many lunch buffets at various SA Indian restaurants and like most things, some were better than others. Until my visit to Simi's, I had a personal favorite, but now must I pass the crown. Simi's buffet is outstanding! There are the usual suspects...saag paneer, dal makini, and tikka-masala plus tandoori chicken, lamb kabobs and more. All were delicious with a robust depth of flavor. Nothing overpowering or too spicy. And the naan was excellent. Will definitely return and highly recommend Simi's.

semi's has maintained their quality over many years. The buffet is full of great vegetable dishes with real flavor. Highly recommend it.

Went with husband for dinner . Nam was good, we both got the Tika masala. It was alright. I’ve tried better ones. Wouldn’t go back. It was sweater and watery. I like the sauce to be thicker and not as sweet . Good service though.

Great buffet and WONDERFUL Chai tea! Try the Vegetarian Thali for a great sample of several menu items along with great bread. Wonderful service and reasonable prices.Even if you think you don't like Indian food, try Simi's because it is FABULOUS!

My wife and I have done the buffet once and dinner off the menu twice. The mushroom naan, fish curry, basmati rice, and all the chicken curries have fantastic flavor. We were amazed to see the same wait staff and cashier on all 3 visits and they're all personable. Great place to go with friends - since the music is not loud and the service is fast. They know what they're doing at Simi's.

Thoroughly enjoyed the lunch buffet. High quality, good selection. Staff was very attentive and friendly. I'd gladly return any time!

:D i had never eaten indian before, so as far as comparison goes... there is none. the service was terrific- my glass was never empty and the darling owner checked in with us several times to assure the food and services were fine. at the end of meal they brought us a rice like pudding on the house, very tasty. the prices were a bit steep for dinner, but their lunch buffet was reasonable!

I have to agree with the first reviewer, I too didn't understand the good ratings because I had checked online before going and was hoping for a good regular place to go for Indian food here....Greedy is the word. It seems they're more interested in profit than your enjoyment of a good dining experience... that motive seems to overshadow enjoyment of everything... food did seem thawed, service not warm, no atmosphere (when someone had rated it as romantic) there's no color, the booths are uncomfortable (I'm thin) the lights look like they came from a sale of dining room lights at home depot in the 80's... there was no music, oh, I'll just stop there. one more thing the value was terrible, I left hungry and lighter with too much taken from my pocket....

My wife and I eat here whenever we are in San Antonio. We are gradually moving toward vegetarianism and this is a place you can find a variety of meatless dishes that are delicious and well-prepared, making vegetarianism seem like less of a challenge. There are plenty of dishes with meat if that's what you prefer (they're delicious too, I have had them in the past). The restaurant is very clean, the food is fresh and well-prepared from appetizers, through the various featured dishes, through condiments and desserts. Every time we eat here, we comment on how much we enjoy it. The atmosphere is somewhat lacking, but your not going to take a romantic date to a buffet, right?

The food was much better in the past & they had a friendly cashier who would actually talk to you and make you feel welcome. Not anymore. The food is okayish in quality; nothing great & nothing awful. The real problem is with the extremely rude, tired old, waiter. Horrible service, bad attitude and blah food. Will not be back. ever.

I come from LA, so I've had some really great Indian food for much cheaper than Simi's. The portions for three of my friends' dishes were on the small side. My saag paneer was the strangest thing I had ever tasted. It was as if they had put some kind of cream in with the spinach and paneer, which made it virtually inedible to me. The service kept hovering around us and, essentially, bothering us. It became a bit unbearable after an entire meal of that.

I have tried, over the years, many Indian restaurants in San Antonio, Texas and have still not found one that is really outstanding. Sami's was just an average (at best) Indian buffet. Although the owner said that everything was made fresh in the restaurant, it had a very 'pre-fab' texture much like what you get out of a bag or can. It was just not very fresh tasting or looking. Most everything wasted the same - Indian food can have a very wide range to texture and flavor - this buffet was a sad to average compared to most. The price was good but it was a case of getting what you pay for - NOT much. Many things seemed to have a 'high fructose corn syrup' taste and texture (like you get in really cheap Chinese food). If this is the best San Antonio has to offer then it is a great time of a quality Indian restaurant to open. I would not really recommend Simi's India. Nice people working there but just not very good quality Indian food.

I came here for lunch and they have a good buffet. We found the service to be very good meaning my glass was never empty nor were the trays at the buffet. I didn't see it right off so I thought it would be a big help to readers to know that it is a buffet for lunch.

went in for dinner based on the ratings and it was filled with crowd for the most part, certainly matching to the rating. However, we are indians and hoped to get authentic indian food and what we got was awful. Ordered veg briyani, pakora platter and sheekh kebab briyani. It was honestly nothing close to a kebab, it was meat balls cut in halves and chilly paste and paprika mixed in basmati rice. Nothing close to being called a briyani. Veg briyani was again a veg preparation mixed with white rice tagged as briyani. I mean who adds broccoli in a veg briyani in India? we were given one small cup of raita to be shared for both briyan's and when asked for more the gentle man said its going to cost 3 dollars and that we were suppose to consider the one cup for both entree's and that is how it goes! Again, if you are looking for true indian food, this is nothing close. If you are looking for the american version of it, then they seem to do well looking at other rating and the crowd!

The eggplant stuff is amazing. Nothing else matters. It's magical, capable of transforming your mood from bad to good.

I visited Simi's with a group of business associates from India. I asked them to give me the experience of eating their favorite cuisine. Their preference was Simi's. I was introduced to several appetizers, entrées and sides. Each was delicious. The service at Simi's was excellent. They worked hard to accommodate the various preferences of my associates. I just tried the food as served from the menu. The atmosphere was good and conducive to conversation. The evening of my visit was a slow time for Simi's. I understand it can be very busy at time.

Had an evening stay in San Antonio and found this place as it wasn't too far from the airport. Staff were friendly and food was delivered quickly. I had a Rogan Josh which was nothing like any Rogan Josh I've had in my life but it was very tasty but certainly not a Rogan Josh. My friend had a Masala which didn't look good but again tasted ok.

Went for alacarte dinner. Ordered the emperor meal- for two. Comes with four curries, (2 veg and 2 non veg) and two samosas and two tandoori chicken. Get extra naan and four people can easily have a full meal. Mild taste not spicy.

I enjoy the Indian food in this San antonio restaurant. Very good lunch buffet with a little of every thing . Lots of vegetarian choices

We ate there twice. When we ordered from the Menu for Dinner the food was great. Infact the best restaurant food ever eaten in entire USA. But the next day when we visited for buffet lunch , the food was very very bland. I had to ask for extra spices and chilles to swallow.

First time here. Was a little apprehensive when we saw the exterior but once inside felt comfortable and welcome. We ordered the Empire dinner for two. It was a good choice to try a little of several dishes. On return we will likely order specific dishes to our taste, and spice level. Naan was great, spinach sagual excellent, chicken curry really good. Lamb curry was a little bland. Vegetables were pasty and not very appetizing. Staff were friendly and helpful. We will return.

I have been here a few times now, and have always been impressed. Their lunch buffet is my favorite, since you get to sample everything, but if you go at dinnertime the Empire Dinner for Two offers a similar experience. The decor is lovely and the service is always friendly.

Simi's has maintained its quality over the years. Good wholesome veggie dishes with good flavor. Staff are helpful and friendly.

The food here is by far the best. So delicious! Customer service is outstanding. I did the buffet between 11am-3pm...Best time to try everything on menu and you will not be dissatisfied.

We’ve been dining here for quite a few years Never changes Always delicious! Great service! I’m not a big buffet person But this one is the Best! Beautiful food - clean- delicious!, Can’t recommend enough You won’t be dissapointed!,,,

Booths could be a tad more comfortable, but the food is solid. Service is just shy of hand-and-foot.

If you are Vegan or have Any type of Food Allergy, Do Not Go to this Restaurant. We have been going to Simi’s for years. However, unlike the oil base we were used to, the vegan Chana Masala and Vegan Jalfarzi were gravy-like and creamy. We sent them back to try two new vegan dishes, but these too were heavier and creamier. When we complained to the owner’s son, he said they were made vegan and he made them himsekfHowever, there is no way that this is the case as we are both allergic to dairy and experienced side-effects. Question: we can understand a mistake the first time, but, as an owner and your dealing with regulars, wouldn’t you make an extra effort to make sure it is done properly? Simi’s failed at this and lied to our face.

I've had a number of their dishes and have not been disappointed. Because they make the food fresh for you, I usually have to wait about 30 minutes for it AFTER I've ordered. It's been worth the wait every time.

The food was good. I had the fish in a spinach sauce with rice and naan which filled me up. The naan was too dry though. Everyone else's food I tried was good too. Be sure to tell them the level of spice you want; they might not ask. Mild isn't too bad but it combines with being freshly cooked. And I'm not sure about the waiter you'll get, but ours told us he studied accounting and it was apparent. He offered us some of the more expensive things on the menu, so be sure and confident in what you really want. The staff are all really nice though.

I eat here about once a week. The Staff is great and know me well enough that if they see me walking up they have a table ready and Iced Tea waiting for me. Their ice Tea is the best period. The Lunch buffet has a great selection of wonderful food and offers enough variety. The egg curry is an interesting selection and is wonderfully delicious. I have taken some co-workers here to give them a taste of Indian food and all have enjoyed it and been impressed.

Simi's is one of my favorite restaurants in San Antonio. If you go at lunch, they have a wonderful buffet with a good variety of vegetable and meat dishes. I love their saag paneer (creamed spinach with goat cheese chunks) and chicken tikka masala. Check out their tandoori chicken as well. Their naan (flatbread) is wonderful -- grab it when they bring it out still warm from the oven. Desserts include rice pudding and pears. Service is attentive. It's not a large restaurant, but there is a separate area up a couple of steps at the back that can be reserved for groups.

My husband and I met some friends at Simi's a few days sgo. They and their families have tried other Indian restaurants in town, but it's to Simi's that they keep returning and so will we. The service is great, the food is outstanging, and the prices reasonable. I shared the Dinner for Two with my husband which has a little of everything for $29. It wss enough food for 3 people, but so delicious that we ate almost all of it til we could eay no more.

It is well known the best Indian food is cooked by Indian expats in the UK especially in Sheffield and Birmigham, in fact Tikka Massala is an Englindian dish. Simis is one of the closest in the US to that taste. Try the Warrilow vindaloo for the ultimate burner in San Antonio.

Simi's is a great little secret located on Fredericksburg Road on the Northwest side of San Antonio. It is located in an older strip mall but don’t let that fool you. The food is great and is served as a buffet. The Indian food novice can come here and find something that will be pleasing to their palate. Luscious curries, grilled kabob meat, Tandoori chicken, and of course Naan is found in abundance. The food is great for the seasoned palate as well.

Great little gem for Indian food in SA! I only ordered out, but it was so good. The portion size was huge! I got the vegetarian combo and it was enough for two meals! Recommend!

I regularly go to this restaurant after church. They have a great lunch buffet, and you order off the menu for dinner. My favorites include saag paneer, chicken tikka, tandoori chicken and their wonderful naan bread. The location is convenient -- on Fredericksburg Road a few blocks inside Loop 410. The price is reasonable.

Simi's was highly recommended to me and I was not disappointed. They had a lunch buffet which included dessert for around $12. The choices were great both vegetarian and chicken dishes. There was nothing I didn't enjoy. For dessert I had mango pudding which was pleasant but a little bland. The service was excellence.

Had the Simi Dinner and it was excellent. The naan was cooked correctly, and slightly crisp. The entire dish was flavorful. Great friendly service as well.

My family frequents Simi's and I join them when I'm in town. This was my first time to go for dinner and the service and food were excellent. We shared all vegetarian options. I really like their naan and samosa; they are a bit crispier than others I've tried. I recommend the Vegetarian Thali combination dinner that comes with small portions of Vegetable Samosa, Saag Paneer, Daal, Mixed Vegetables, Naan, and Pullao.

Absolutely fantastic!! Delicious homemade food, superior service, very delightful experience!!! We had excellent food and it was still outstanding the next day for leftovers! Loved the garlic bread, sauces, rice, lamb!

This has the best food and the people who work here are so nice you have to try it there is a lot to choose from it is a wonderful buffet

Located in a typical Texas strip mall just off 410, Simi's is cozy, comfortable, and nicely decorated inside - with linen table clothes, napkins, and nice silverware. Tables and booths are uniquely arranged to provide both access and privacy in a small space. We had the lunch buffet on a Wednesday, and found an unusually broad selection of both vegetarian and (mostly chicken) meat dishes. The few very spicy dishes were clearly marked, with 90% being only mildly to low moderate in spice - perfect for my wife and daughter. I sampled at least ten of the offerings and enjoyed each of them. My lunch companions reported the same. We all cleaned our plates, which rarely happens at a buffet. We will be back soon. Highly recommended for lunch buffet.

Our favorite Indian restaurant in San Antonio. In our last visit we tried the Empire dinner for two, and a was delicious. the dinner consisted of vegetable samon, Tandoori Chicken, Seekh kabob, Lamb curry, naan, pullao and Chicken tikka masala. It's a lot of food so come hungry and go home happy. The service is excellent and staff are always very nice and the price is very reasonable.

I thought I hated Indian food until my wife convinced me to try Simi's. I've been going there for 5 years (I go every time I'm in San Antonio) and the quality is consistently awesome. I usually go for the reasonably-priced Sunday buffet, but I've had normal table service as well (family style is best). The mango lassis are awesome and the chai tea is unbeatable! My favorite dishes are the saag paneer and the chicken tandoori. The service is probably what people complain about the most, I'm guessing, but lower your expectations just a bit and you'll be fine, haha - the food is more than worth it, in my opinion.

We found this online with great reviews and decided to try it out. I am not easily impressed with standard indian fare being an indian myself but Simi's every dish impressed me. We ordered vegetable biryani/pulao, Mutter Paneer, rice, garlic naan and chicken Biryani. Everything was really tasty and different. They took care of the spice factor because all 3 different dishes were ordered with a different spice scale. The white rice wasn't complimentary which was surprising to me. Ambience was very nice and upscale too. If I am ever in San Antonio again, this will be my go to place for Indian food. We ordered a take out and everything was ready when we got there. Staff seemed courteous and nice.

Chai tea is to DIE for at Simis. Don't leave without trying the vegetarian thali or for lunch, the buffet is a great deal and a super way to try a variety of Indian food. Two enthusiastic thumbs ups!

I will start with the best thing about Simi's, which is the service. They have the friendliest staff of any restaurant I have been to in all of San Antonio. They are always happy to explain the menu, keep up with drink refills, and come by from time to time just to make sure you are enjoying yourself. They even go above and beyond to make your dining experience better. The food is classic Indian cuisine which is consistently good. It is not my favorite because it does seem to lack a little authenticity, but I have never had anything I did not like. As with many Indian restaurants there are many vegetarian options. Overall, this is a good restaurant for family and friends and a consistently good dining experience.

Good was good in taste but service was slow. May be it was too crowded when we went. Overall good value! We requested hot and spicy dish but it was very much toned down, I appreciate if they use some real spices from India. :)

A delicate, quiet and mysterious place, I entered without knowing what I would find, and I found this delicious bread and a particularly tasty salad, the proteins did not like me but the antiquity of the place seemed like a gem to have a different kind of date.... did I say that I loved this bread?

They have maintained good quality for a very long time period. Good variety of vegetarian dishes and great nan bread. Chai us well prepared. Good place for a quick indian meal.

We went to this place based on recommendation from our friend. I did not find this place too good based on the ratings that were provided. Pros: i had the best thing which this restaurant is known for "Vindaloo sauce"; which was really hot and helped me eat the otherwise bland indian buffet Cons: Not so good desserts, medium/no spice indian food, not that helpful staff you can try this restaurant for once surely for the vindaloo sauce.

Great buffet, very delicious. So far the best Indian restaurant in SA. Had lunch with a group of friends and they all enjoyed it. Will be back soon.

As an Englishman who grew up in the Middle East, Simi's is the most authentic Indian cuisine in San Antonio. Their lunch buffet is a great value, especially for those who are only now venturing into Indian food. For those more adventurous folks, the Vindaloo is to die for. Those on dates, beware of the garlic naan as you'll find only fresh garlic.

I feel sorry to say that me and my beloved went to celebrate our aniversary but everything deserted us. Food was the same they use in their buffets, and they serve the same at night. I came to know this from the manager in there. To make the things mild they add cream in avarything and don't even tell the customers. Service was not good and the waitors just kept hovering over our heads to pour water in our glasses, till brim. They are also partial as far as billing is concerned. They charged my friend who were from a different nationality with some additional tax whereas they charged me less for the same food, Holy Crap. Be aware and think twice before going to that place. All the best.

We have been eating here for approx 10 years- the food is just as good if not better! They are in an ordinary strip mall in an unremarkable area of the city- The restaurant is clean, quiet and has wonderful service- Lunch time buffet is excellent fresh and offers a great selection! Dinner menu has a wide selection - they have a bar - Highly recommend - you will return!!

Before attending a nearby attraction I dropped into Simi's to ensure I had a full belly. I was immediately greeted by a charming lady who led me to my table. In this instance it was a late lunch crowd and the buffet was open. It is a fairly simple affair with all of the different and mostly vegetarian dishes. That said they do have meats, mostly chicken. They did have some kebab balls. If you like real spice they also have that as well. The place played what spunded like the Indian version of top 40 music. My table and cutlery were clean. The staff was quick and friendly. I would have looked forward to more of the meat like dishes I have experienced in Indian restaurants abroad but this place was still pretty good. It is certainly worth a visit.

Don’t be fooled by the strip mall outside aesthetic as you drive up- Simi’s is the shiz-niz. We ordered the Emerald Platter for Two, and it did not disappoint. It was all so tasty! The inside decor is homey and comfortable, and the service is great. The only complaint would be that the booth seats feel like you’re sitting in a plank and are a little close to the table- but I didn’t mind as being closer to that wonderful food was not a punishment. If you like good Indian food: EAT. AT. SIMI’S!

While visiting my friends in San Antonio, they took me to an Indian restaurant they frequent called Simi's India Cuisine. I've not eaten much Indian food, but this was delicious! We got lamb biryani which was one of the most scrumptious dishes I've ever tasted. We also had chicken tikkas which was also delicious. And the naan bread was out of this world. I went in having no idea what the meal would be like, and I came out having had a wonderful meal experience. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant. It is not fancy on the inside, but clean and tidy--but the food surely is delicious. Try it, you'll like it.

Excellent service, good selection of fresh Indian food, including desert and fresh Naan bread. Buffet is kept fresh and well stocked. Waiters and counter help will explain all items on buffet for first time diners. I visit Simi's 5 - 6 times a year and it never fails to please. Tea is a little pricey, so consider the free water - refilled liberally by wait staff.

Indian cuisine has been my favorite for over 45 years. I've sampled Indian food in many countries. I lived in England for over 11 years where there are as many Indian restaurants as there are Mexican restaurants here in San Antonio. I've sampled all in San Antonio. I haven’t been to Simi’s for some years so I thought I try it this evening. The service and price was good, however the food was very bland. We had the Empire dinner for two. My wife’s favorite dish is Chicken Tika Masala, but Simi’s version was very bland. The gravy tasted like cream of tomato soup with a little spice. That was a huge disappointment for her. The lamb curry, mixed vegetables, tandoori chicken were bland, the saag paneer had too mint and spoiled the dish. It appears the spice is way too subdued perhaps to accommodate American tastes, but it far from authentic. Sorry, but I could recommend a few Indian buffets in town that have tastier food. Perhaps this is why I haven’t been there in some years.

Had a hard time spotting the restaurant, but boy was it worth it once we got our dinner. The Simi"s Plate was a great selection featuring several of my favorite dishes. This was our first time here...count on us going back again.

We have been going to Simis for over 15 years. The food is very good, consistent in quality. The Saag Paneer is the best in the city. Have tried many other Indian restaurants- we keep coming back to Simis.

Came here for lunch and found their buffet to be well apportioned and fresh. The chicken tika masala was wonderful and full of flavor. Vegetables, rice and other dishes had a very good display appearance and had very good flavors. The price was fair and the place was packed--clearly a favorite in this neighborhood. I also love the rice pudding and mango pudding for dessert. I think you will like this place--give it a try! Not fancy, just good!

We wanted something a little unusual and hadn’t had Indian food in quite a while. Searching through the listings I found Simi’s. It’s been around quite a while so I figured that it couldn’t be bad. It’s located in a strip mall near the interstate. Easy to get to, easy to park—always a bonus. We were greeted with a smile and placed in the corner of the restaurant. It took a while to get drinks and appetizers but the tea was constantly being refilled after that. The prices were maybe only slightly higher than most Indian restaurants I’ve been to, so I counted on the quality being better. The waiter carefully made sure that we were expecting a spicy dish on the Vindaloo we ordered, and thoughtfully asked how spicy I wanted my rice dish to be. The portions were very nice and the kulcha (bread) was hot and crunchy (i.e. fresh). Good amounts of chicken, although a little more potato would have been nice in the very spicy Vindaloo. All-in-all a very pleasant experience and I would have no problem returning to sample more of their dishes in the future.

I read the review saying that this was the closest to Indian food available in the UK outside of the states. I am from London so I went here licking my lips unfortunately the person who wrote that review has obviously never had a proper curry in the uk. The chicken in the chicken tikka masala was not marinated which is the whole chicken tikka bit plus it was not grilled, it was just dropped in and boiled. The sauce was so watery that I thought someone had drowned the chicken in water. A good tikka massala has marinated chicken cooked on the grill with wooden sticks with a rick creamy sauce with almonds in it. The jalfrazi was a travesty, in 30 years of eating Indian food, I have never had carrot or broccoli in a jalfrazi! It is onion and peppers plus chili. This was not hot and so watery it was unbelievable! Mint sauce is light with yogurt in the uk, this looked radioactive green with jalapeños, mint sauce is not supposed to be spicy, it is supposed to be refreshing! The poppadoms were not good, they look like nothing I have had in London and no mango chutney

THE BEST INDIAN FOOD IN TEXAS HANDS DOWN. The bad reviews on here are grunge confused with a similarly named restaurant in the UK. FREDERICKSBURG ROAD SAN ANTONIO SIMI’S IS THE BEST!!!!!! Wow. We last came here in 2019 and I do not know why we waited so long to cons back. We’ll be back soon!

This restaurant is the worst experience i ever had with any restaurants. they will literally rip you off. The quality and quantity of food is very poor. No service once order is on table. Worst of all is you will be served with the frozen curry heated and served. Its my sincere advice to all you folks to search for another indian restaurant in san antonio. The managemnt is so greedy, charged us for the tip and 20% tax in bill.. We did not argue much just for one reason that the owner is aged person and we dont want to badmouth and spoil our trip. I request this website to put a zero rounding instead of min 1 rounding for this type of restaurants.
Lunch Place
We went here this week for lunch. We have been several times before and have enjoyed the food. The place could definitely use a renovation as the benches / booths have tears. The carpet needs replacing as well. The food is excellent. Really like their chicken tikka. The food was not as hot as it has been. It needs to be hotter.
