Sports bar made in the USA

By Mithrandir82 |

Great this very American sports bar. Many screens spread around the bar, good burgers, rivers of beer and a good atmosphere. It's just what is expected of him. Great for watching football; It's a shame that Spain lost that day (even so, I had a great time).

Superb staff and venue

By HR90 |

I came here with my girlfriend in the evening and the next morning go watch the football. Great atmosphere, venue is nice and more importantly the staff were all superb. Really friendly and helpful, and go the extra mile for you. Very much recommend and will definitely return.

NYC Man united watering hole

By Seayeaitch |

If you are a Manchester United fan and you want to watch the match life then this IS the place to visit, a great range of beers and bar foods , especially breakfast menu, polite friendly staff mixed venue men and women, safe and friendly.

Late night eats near Four Points Sheraton

By Saeed J |

Got in pretty late on a Tuesday night and needed some grub without much of a walk or ride since we were exhausted from travel. Smithfield fit the bill. Kitchen open until 11.45pm, we ordered at 11pm and were served our meal in 15min. I had the Braised Short Rib which was very good. Spouse went for the pizza which was a disappointing collection of bread with cheese on it. Service was prompt and atmosphere was mellow but nice. Would not go out of my way to come here again but it certainly served its purpose for us.

What a Great Sports Bar!

By Dawn L |

Electric atmosphere when the games are on. We watched the MU vs Everton game. It was a fantastic experience doing so at Smithfield Hall! Fans egging both sides on amid happy hour beers and wines, as well as $10 lunch specials was excellent! If you're looking for good food / drinks only, this might not be it. But if you're looking for a sports bar to watch a game, this is it. There are so many screens! Wherever you're sitting, you'll probably get a good view of the game. Food was good; 4-star. Calamari was crispy and light, tofu stir-fry was yummy albeit a little on the sweet side. Overall - a great experience.

Great beer selections and food is pretty good too!

By Dave W |

Just visited Smithfield from out of town based on online recommendations that were close to my hotel. The bartender was extremely attentive and said "cheers" with every stop whether refilling my water, beer, or delivering food. Ambiance was a little off for me as there were people in and out but other customers did not seem friendly and were there for a purpose (business meetings after work?). The food was great-had the short ribs which were delightful! Overall a very solid spot to grab a beer and a quick bite.

Man U Boxing Day game

By saraht1993 |

Very busy bar in NYC, we visited to watch the United game and we're hoping to eat whilst the game was on, however we struggled to even get a drink it was so busy. Could do with a few extra bar stools but bar service wasn't too slow and served the purpose of watching the football

Beer, friendly staff and good atmospher

By Raymond Abeltun |

What more can we really expect from a pub/bar? Wide variety of beers, staff was friendly and efficient and for a soccer bar in NY the atmosphere was pretty good. Some light singing during the Manchester United game made for a enjoyable experience. Will definetly go again next time in NY.

Good sports bar

By martynsnook |

Large bar with plenty of tvs. Good selection of beers. Also show English premiership football matches.

Rip off and rude

By Vincent B |

The bar staff were really abrasive, I wouldn't bother, You have to buy 40 dollars of beer each in advance to be able to watch a game on match day. Me and my son were kicked out as i wouldn't buy 80 dollars of drinks in advance for me and him. We would probably have got through 30 or 40 dollars total, maybe more, but instead they got nothing.. I'm a match going United fan and thought it was a good atmosphere for a bar but it's in keeping with the New York habit of ripping tourists off alright.

Great bar with really good selection of beers

By lirioblanco |

Spent a really good couple of hours here watching various sports but mainly having good conversations with staff and other customers. Good beers, I recommend the bars own amber alert. Great bar staff who remember what you are drinking and manage to keep you topped up without being pushy. Friendly clientele which adds to the appeal.

Fab Olympic experience

By SaffraJay |

As a Londoner I was searching for a good place to go and watch the Olympic opening ceremony this summer. I happeneind upon Smithfield online, read the 1 review I could find and even contacted the previous reviewer. Everything looked and sounded good. The place was heaving on the afternoon of the 27th July and I took my place (standing room only!) in front of a flatscreen with a margarita to watch the awesome production. The crowd was friendly, a good mix of male and female and also included a few other Brits. As a lone female tourist I felt comfortable enough to stay for 5 whole hours drinking, chatting and sampling (huge) nibbles! I returned 2 weeks later to try the shrimp buns (amazing crispy coconut shrimp in moist steamed buns with sweet chilli sauce and apple slaw) and my friend had the most delicious looking Caesar salad I have ever seen. I will be back on my return to NY. The only things that weren't 100% was the bar service was quite slow the first time I went-possibly because they were unusually busy that day?- and pricing wasn't consistent as a margarita was charged as $8 on one day and $12/$20 another day. I would've been happier with a consistent $8 price!!

A really great place to watch sports

By Tim |

I love european football and this is the place to watch it! The service is very good. The food is tasty and the TVs show a lot of matches, south american football too.

Surprisingly good food for a sports bar

By Martina M |

Trendy sports bar with surprisingly good food. There are TV screens everywhere but if you're not interested in that then they aren't intrusive. The food is different with a mix of different cuisine influences but very good. I'd recommend the Chicken Katsu burger.

went to watch Manchester United Soccer Match.. had an outstanding meal

By lbelvin36 |

I had there free range chicken dinner that was excellent one of the best i ever had. Watching a match with 300 supporters is by self something to see. When you add food in and make that great food you will want to be back sooner then later. free rnge chicken with carrots and coucus have it.

Classic sports bar

By Caroline |

Fun place to watch the Champions League final with a mix of Spurs and Liverpool fans. It’s a busy bar serving reasonably priced beers.

Great food.. vibe.

By David H |

Nice people. Great wings. Lots of sorts on TV. Quiet .. relatievly.. back room. Not super expensive. Liked server but bartender was a bit of a slacker . Highly recommend. See also pioneers or the new Oscar Wild.

Decent food for Sports Bar

By Ingrid L |

Took some customers there for lunch. The atmosphere is nice and they have just added a new section on. It is pretty rowdy especially if there is a great soccer game on, so if you like soccer or rugby this is the spot. I have been here many times and the service is really good. We had wings, fries, fish taco's, short ribs, burgers and they were all pretty good. Even had some brownie & ice cream for dessert. Happy hour is pretty awesome.

Euro cup 2020

By Helen |

Went here to watch the quarter finals for the Euro cup 2020…super lively and fun atmosphere. My boyfriend is English and he felt right at home watching the football! Food was good, beer is great. Could start and close a tab from your phone which was helpful. We sat outside, but the inside was a lot of fun also. They had the sound on for the game and made a whole event of it. Awesome place.

Decent food but great for the football!

By Hardeep N |

Being in NY for a week I had to make provisions to watch my beloved Man United play - and the internet pointed me towards Smithfield! Loads of screens, open early, plenty of loud supporters providing a really good atmosphere - and United won! The food was decent, nothing to shout about. My wife enjoyed a quinoa burger and I enjoyed my steak brekkie!

Super friendly

By gotravelling76 |

Great pub, showing English football. Kevin was an excellent host, friendly, funny and super speedy at topping up the drinks. Didnt eat here but the food coming from the kitchen looked great!

Authentic sports bar to an Englishman

By Steve M |

Travelling on business from Europe we were just looking for a place for a beer and a burger on the first night (Tuesday) and we found this because of the TA reviews. Plentiful variety of American microbreweries (>10?) on tap which we were given a tasting sample of before choosing. Shame I could only try 3 of them. Burger and wings were standard fare but you couldn't fault them either. Food was well cooked and well presented. Service was superb - well the batman was originally from Dublin so that must have explained it. Top marks all round and in a similar mood we would return without hesitation. Only slight negative I could think of - no draft dark American beers.

Awesome Dinner for a Large Party

By Robert M |

This place did a great job accommodating fourteen of us for dinner prior to a Rangers game at the garden. High-end bar food. Everything was very good, especially their burgers. Fantastic sports bar atmosphere and the host and servers were all very friendly and professional. A pretty good value for the city. We'll be back.

Amazing atmosphere and service!!!

By Christine C |

I had my husband's birthday party here this past weekend, and I am amazed at how well it turned out!! The private room was decorated as old English with comfy couches, brick walls and hand painted wall paper. The platters we got were delicious (pecan chicken, shrimp buns, mini pizzas and a few others). The servers were SO friendly and quick!! The party went perfectly, and I would recommend this place for any party or happy hour!!!

Great Bar

By WINEandTRAVEL |

Stopped in for a drink while staying at our hotel a few doors down. Really cool bar with a good vibe and fine staff... our drinks were all very good, well made. Food looked good too. Recommend if youre staying in the area.

Great Sports Bar

By Bob C |

We stopped here to watch the USWNT and the atmosphere was electric and exciting. A great U.S. crowd of soccer fans in attendance. We had some refreshing beers and food too. The Caesar Salad was perfect. I added some shrimp and they did not skimp on the number in my salad. Very pleased. Bartender was friendly.

Levels Above The Average NYC Sports Bar - It's Class

By Clooney_99 |

There’s no shortage of Irish pubs in New York City. As ubiquitous as pizzerias, they are easy to find. It’s finding the quality ones that takes time. In my 17 years in New York, I’ve found a few. The Piper’s Kilt in Inwood. Several in Woodside, Queens. The Penny Farthing on 3rd Avenue. Ulysses in the Financial District. St. Andrews and The Long Room in midtown. Lunasa in the East Village. Slainte on the Bowery. All of those rise above the fray with above average food and drink selections. And in the last 17 years, we’ve seen the rise of football (soccer) bars. Beginning with Nevada Smiths in 1995, and then exploding sometime around the 2002 World Cup, New York football fans have seen a renaissance of the sport’s acceptance and popularity in the USA. We’ve also seen the rise of so-called “gastro pubs,” where the focus is on gourmet, rustic pub food, and less on televised sports. West Village establishments like The Spotted Pig and Highlands lead that segment. Smithfield is a new pub built by veterans of this business. Partners Tom, Ken, Kieron, and Gavin have created a special place that combines elements of the football bar, traditional Irish pub and lounge, and fine restaurant into a beautifully designed and thought out package that is unique, friendly, and quite affordable. I know Kieron from his days as a senior bartender at Nevada Smiths under Tom, the former co-owner of New York’s original football bar. After a split on the Nevada Smiths ownership, Tom began to develop plans for a football pub of his own, while also running the fine Lunasa in the East Village. Smithfield is the product of nearly two years of hard work, and I’m already a big fan. I love the details. The use of reclaimed wood and re-use of vintage hardware and original architectural details make this place special. For example, all the bar surfaces are made from wood that is nearly 300 years old which was found in a Chelsea warehouse. The tables are made from New York water towers. Downstairs is set up like a modern soccer bar, not unlike Amity Hall or Puck Fair downtown. Bright LED flat panel displays seem to float over a shelf taken from a Pennsylvania barn. And beneath that, the main bar, featuring massive stainless steel pipes. There are two of them, and each host ten brews on draught. Smithfield has gone the extra distance to ensure that they have a branded glass for each of the ales and lagers on tap. Details like that have made me an instant fan. Smithfield was designed with care by guys who really love their work. Upstairs, the tone and décor changes a bit. It’s closer to a genuine Irish or English pubic house, where conversation takes precedence over televised sports. An original wood fireplace, revealed behind drywall when the space was acquired, gives the space a dash of coziness. In fact, this is only the third pub I have been to that has a fireplace (the other two being Molly’s on Third Avenue and Johnny Foley’s in San Francisco). The 300 year old bar surface is reprised in smaller form here, as there is a compact bar opposite the fireplace, as well by the windows overlooking West 28th Street. During warm weather, the windows swing open wide – another nice touch. Two Jameson barrels from Dublin decorate the space here along with the fireplace. Jameson whiskey is distilled in the Smithfield area of northern Dublin, hence the establishment's name. And from the second floor, a sky lit mezzanine room is visible above, which is quickly becoming the Wallace Room, named after William Wallace. Now that’s a detail a Scottish American like myself can appreciate. I envision that room as a VIP lounge, where one can sit in a big leather chair and sip whiskey. I look forward to seeing how it is used in this magnificent three-level pub. And the food? From the four dishes I’ve had so far, it is well above the average pub grub in New York City. Executive chef, Paul Garey (of Tonic and the former Truffle on Third Avenue), is off to a strong start. The Jameson wings are sweet and spicy. The lobster mac and cheese is a good, local alternative to the buffalo mac and cheese served at other establishments (like The Penny Farthing). The burgers are high end, especially their signature burger with candied foie gras and tiny truffle shavings. It’s a perfect juicy, fatty, crispy, salty creation. And my favorite, their steak frites, is worthy of a French bistro. I’m a sucker for hangar steak, and it’s quickly my favorite hangar steak dish in town. Everything is well presented and the portions are refreshingly smaller than what I’ve seen lately in other pubs and (especially) chain restaurants. This is one fine drinking and dining establishment, run by an exceptionally friendly staff. I hope they get a glowing review in New York Magazine or Time Out New York soon. This place deserves a bright future. So to all my friends in town, and to anyone visiting New York happening to find this review, I hope you can stop by Smithfield soon. It’s top class!

best futbol bar ever!!

By Ricardo Antequera |

soccer-futbol fans will feel at home at this great place, where the enviroment will suck you, even if your team is not playing. It appears to be the NY house for Barca and Bayern Munich fans, but..who cares. Been there twice to watch my team games (Atlético de Madrid), and the experience has been great. great selection of beers too. Food..just OK

Great Sports Bar

By Declan2010 |

Had a few beers and something to eat here, the staff were very friendly and the food was really good. Great atmosphere and a very busy bar. With the amount of TV's in it, no matter where you sat you had a great view of them. Good spot for the lads

Fantastic for sports lovers!

By Shanij60 |

Been there with my son for a soccer game and we had a great time. Great variety of beers , delicious food and above all the fantastic atmosphere of hundreds of sports lovers that over filled the place. Absolutely recommended!!

Great experience

By FitzKitty |

Had a couple of drinks/appetizers with friends at this location. Bar area and restaurant area very busy & lively. We were greeted when first entering by friendly hostess, bar tenders very attentive as well as wait staff. We needed extra bar stools for other people in our party and the wait staff was happy to oblige. Appys were delish!! We will visit again.

NFFC

By Michael P R |

I visited here having seen that the NYC NFFC Supporters Group gather here to watch live games. I turned up for what turned out to be quite a dire game surrounded by around a dozen fellow reds. Disappointingly none of them really looked up or engaged anyone else in the bar so it wasn’t really the experience I expected. The food looked nice but I had already eaten. I did manage to consume four lagers that went down a little too well and the bar staff were always attentive and ready to pour me a fresh one. The WiFi worked well too.

Excellent!

By lovestotravel894 |

This restaurant was recommended by the concierge at Doubletree Chelsea down the street from this restaurant. They were sble to accommodate 107

Great bar and staff

By Sj148 |

Great bar, welcoming staff, great atmosphere What a place. Thank you so much to the staff for today's experience. Straight in from opening time, really looked after us well. We got to watch football on the big screens. Great food, great beers and the best atmosphere.. We would recommend this bar and staff to anyone. Would we visit again? Tonight. Great day in New York. Thank you

Great bar

Just the best bar to watch the Premiership Football with the best Guinness!

By Kevin M |

Just a fantastic bar to watch the Premiership football. First night with one of the best pints of Guinness outside of Ireland and then the next day with more and food! Thanks to Kevin at the bar for making us feel welcome. Will certainly come back!

Football Fans Rejoice Live UK games

By HazelH72 |

We went here recently on a trip to New York. I had looked up online to see where we could watch Manchester United live and was recommended the come here. We arrived at 7.30am and the bar was already busy - great friendly atmosphere, good drinks, decent brunch menu. To top it off Man Utd won! For supporters of other teams(?) I think they may show other matches!

Good place to watch sports

By Mlacoach |

My husband and I needed a place close to Madison square garden where we could eat while watching football. I read about Smithfield and thought to give it a try. I wanted to try the lobster mac n cheese. More on that later. We arrived at the bar/restaurant at about 445 on a football Sunday. It was crowded but not packed. It was loud. We were able to find a table in the back. Seating on one side of table was a booth, the other side a stool like you would see in art class. I would have preferred a chair but this is casual dining. I know the have other levels of the restaurant. Maybe they have tables and chairs there. We wanted football so this would have to do. They were busy so it took about 10 minutes for someone to help us. Our Waitress was Kim. She was very nice and very accommodating. My husband ordered a burger which came with fries and lettuce and tomato. It was a little small by our standards, but delicious. He was still a little hungry so he ordered potato leek soup. Generous portion with a bread crouton. He asked for extra crouton. My mac n cheese was very hot and contained about a claw and knuckles worth of real lobster and a bit of tail thrown in for good measure. It was very good. I thought I was done with some left in my dish, but managed to finish it. One glass of wine and a beer came to 40. If you are looking for a quiet romantic restaurant this is not your spot. But a quick bite before a Ranger game.... this will do. Also very close to FIT campus for parents visiting their kids.

Burger with foie gras!

By polentzeto |

I know, this place being a sports bar wouldn't be on my top list for food, but I stumbled upon it with a friend. It was a pleasant surprise to find a burger on the menu with foie gras which tasted great especially with a nice Czech Pilsner Urquell. So much so that I had to bring my husband here for a date night, btw he also loved it. Service is good, busy during big sports events and it can get very loud as these places do.

Really good sports bar

By Epicureously |

My team was playing an important game while I was in NYC. Had this bar recommended to me as a place to watch it. So there’s probably 30 screens of which 25 have my teams matches on. It’s a go to pub for my team. There were lots of people there who weren’t watching the football too. It’s a very friendly place. Not like in the Uk when there’s football involved. They show lots of other sports too. Very friendly staff. Good food. Oh and my team won😀

a bit of a food hidden gem

By northernmonkey29 |

Not to judge a book by it's cover but the food was unsuspectingly good here and good value for money too. This was the only bar in New York we could find showing the Wales v South Africa match which made a Welsh man in New York very happy (not that the ensuing result did), the only snag was we had to pay $20 EACH for the pay per view. I had no objection to contributing but thought that $20 per person was a bit steep. The bar is well equipped for numerous sports games being simultaneously played so it seemed to attract lots of people which made for a great atmopshere.

Awesome

By aaa |

Found this bar on tripadvisor and I’m glad I went. Absolutely awesome bar. Really friendly team. Good beer. Good food and loads of sports coverage.

Wall to Wall TV for footy

By DaftLad1970 |

Get your footy fix here with so many games on when I visited here. Atmosphere great but UK football fans beware of the way our US friends chant - so different !

A great West Ham bar in NY

By Lee G |

The place was recommended to me by a friend and I'm glad it was. I walked in and instantly felt at ease. Kev behind the bar is a true gent. I was there to watch football and made some great friends in the West Ham section. Definitely go here. It's a great place.

Our neighborhood establishment

By Julie S |

We visit Smithfield hall often. Staff is very welcoming and everyone always say hi with a smile. This place has a lot of “regulars”. This is a great establishment for football(soccer), with Man U, west ham, Barcelona and Bayern Munich supporters but will put on all the other matches too. It had a great homey/rustic feel to it. They have a $10.00 lunch menu, Monday through Friday and many people come for “after work” hangout too. The owners really pay attention to fine details to make this a great all around pub.

Worst sports bar in NYC

By Diller |

Went here to watch the Man Utd match. We ordered food an hour and a half before kick off when the place was not full at all. We never received our food and when I explained to the waiting staff that I did not think it was fair to charge us for the two drinks we had while waiting, they asked us to leave which we did. Terrible service and, not to mention, rude staff. Do yourself a favor and visit one of the one million other sports bars in NYC.

Cool, understated sports bar with great food.

By AnnaCG |

This bar is a real find in such a tourist and commuter flooded area. They have three floors and show most games on their many TVs, especially soccer. Try the rosemary fries with garlic aioli and a pint of Hoegaarden, you won't be sorry. If someone in your party is eating healthy, their chopped salad is great.

Great bar, great service!

By ADRIAAN IZAAK L |

We watched the game Chile-Argentina and it was great. The first place I have been to where the waiter gave me 2 bottles of Corona for free, I guess just because I gave him a decent tip. Very friendly service, great facility.

Must See for United Fans

By KevJW1999 |

As well as being an excellent bar/ restaurant this houses the NY Reds Official Manchester United supporters club. The beer is great, and reasonably priced for New York.I didn't eat but everything that passed me looked quality. But for United fans coming here for a game to take in the atmosphere and meet some great people is an absolute Must.

My favourite bar EVER!

By Greeklightning |

Visited here twice during our 4 night stay in NYC. First time we went for a couple of drinks, and as a fan of US sports I loved the variety in all the screens while sitting at the bar. Second time we went for the United v Everton game, (I was wearing the Ibra shirt seen in the previous review) great atmosphere, the beer is fantastic (the Smithfield lager is beautiful) and the food was as good if not better than any bar I have been to. It added to my favourite day ever which ended by going to the Knicks v Bull game at MSG, so thank you for making my trip guys!

Great spot to watch the game

By Jordan de Sales |

Came here to watch the college playoffs and ended up coming back another 2 times to watch various games. Great ambiance with the staff super friendly and welcoming to any requests for games to be on any tv. Got some great travel recommendations from a few staff. The house margaritas are boozy and tasty and all beers are a great price!

Best Soccer Bar in the City

By Jeff D |

Came in to watch ManU game. Had such a great time came back next day for ManCity/Chelsea match. Great staff and excellent atmosphere. Props to Kevin behind the bar. Knowledgeable and genuinely a gentleman...even made my wife feel welcome. Will definitely be back!

Pub style for adults

By Craig M |

Took teenage daughters that are not of age, which was fine. Small establishment with o it a few tables, but meal was good and service was good. Louder atmosphere as many TV's showing many sporting events. Prices were about average as expected. Stopped in as a friend recommended and we were happy to rest our feet and get a wine and a beer and some food.

Nice bar

By TLC1316 |

Walking by, haven't been there, felt like a beer. Friendly staff nice looking pub, very nice selection. Had the Jameson wings. Very good! Next time in the area we would not hesitate to stop in again. Try it!!

Good sports bar

By Caitlin18 |

My husband and I were in New York City for the day, and we stopped in for lunch. Lots of TVs to watch (mostly soccer) while you eat. Service was quick and our burgers were really good. 2 beers, 2 burgers and a tip came to about $35.

College Football Overload

By Jim B |

After visiting the birthplace of college football for Nebraska's win over Rutgers, we returned to our midtown hotel and walked next door for appetizers and adult beverages. The macaroni and cheese is simply to die for good! We watched the many night games and a couple of upsets on the many TV screens. Service was prompt and prices were extremely reasonable, especially by NYC standards. Will definitely return next trip.

Great sports bar! Shows all UK Premier League games. And US Football!

By Marg B |

Great Irish bar. Fantastic venue for sports fans! We Went twice! Had wonderful Irish Breakfast. The serving staff are run off their feet (bar was heaving both times we were there) but served everybody well and with a smile. If sitting at the bar the staff were really attentive with both food and drinks. Not expensive considering you are on West 25th Street! Highly recommended!

Great Bar For Football, Food Awful...

By Nidgehammer |

Fantastic to see so many West Ham fans in NYC, the bar was heaving for the last games of the season and there was a great atmosphere. I have to knock marks off for the food though, I had an 'Irish Breakfast' which was literally inedible, I left more than half. The Estrella was good though.. The wait staff did their best in a very busy pub but the one serving us clearly wasn't interested in a tip, didn't smile once and we spent $150.

Nice little bar

By frhou |

Great menu, quick bar service, fast waitresses, good variety of alcohol, lots of televisions playing different sporting events. I can't complain.

Food was very good; atmosphere was average

By Ryan R |

I was fooled by the pictures into thinking this was a new, sleek sports bar. It is not. But, the food was really excellent. The menu was interesting, providing a number of interesting variations on bar food and my entire group enjoyed our dinner. Try to spinach artichoke dip - really excellent take on it. All the burgers were fantastic as well.

Best place to watch the Football (Soccer)

By MancLad8 |

Watched every Man United game here while in New York for a month. GREAT place to watch football and it was packed with fans from many teams - watching their teams in different sections and floors of the venue. Drinks were a little pricey... but that's the same in 90% of New York. Service was fast, atmosphere was great, security was on the ball so venue felt very safe to be in. All in all, had a great time and met a lot of new people.

Great place to catch some footy...

By 650BrianH |

...and even better food. Went twice over a four day stay, once for breakfast and once for a late dinner. Both were great. Type of place the wife or girlfriend actually wouldn't mind being drug along to. Maybe seeing the Gunners put two past Liverpool helped, but I wish I had a place like this in my hometown!

Good Food/European Soccer

By luv2Trvl017 |

Cool bar/restaurant. Stopped in for dinner before getting the train. Not far from Penn Station/MSG. A European soccer themed bar/restaurant with lots of TVs showing games. Great onion rings and specialty pizza. Would visit again.

Great bar.. Great atmosphere.. Great service..

By dickybird868 |

Plenty of screens to see the games on.. Really good atmosphere.. Lots of beers to choose from.. Food was good as far as I can remember. Highly recommend..

Great atmosphere and lovely food

By mrst1234 |

We came to Smithfield Hall to watch the Man United match and the atmosphere was amazing. It was completely full with football fans, singing and having a great time. We also ordered food which was incredible. I’d recommend the burger and Philly cheesesteak 😊 We had a lovely waitress who always checked if we needed any drinks or anything else. Would definitely go back if I was in New York again.

OK to watch football

By Lavarcham |

Came here to watch the United v Bournemouth game. Not a great deal of atmosphere but good screens to watch the game

Pretty standard food

By TeddyDove |

Walked by and liked the look of the place, although it was nearly empty. Four of us for a late Sunday lunch. My wife had the Caesar salad. It was fresh and flavorful, but not large. The rest of us had the standard burger. The burgers were good, the bacon was generous. The fries had rosemary sprigs, which my daughter did not like. But, the burger was nicely presented. Service was friendly and competent, but not outstanding. Overall, we enjoyed lunch. I would have rated it a 3.5 if that were allowed. I would not rush back, but I would go again If the opportunity arose.

Best wings ever! And plenty of football

By lauellpike |

Loved this place, I reluctantly got dragged her by the boyfriend as it was one of the only places that had the football on at such early times. Well I soon perked up when we ordered their wings! They where so good! Also great atmosphere in there especially if your a football fan. Great place to go and enjoy beer, football and wings!

Soccer Sports Pub Worth Checking Out!

By Jordan J |

If you like sports (especially soccer), good food and plenty of beer choice Smithfield has it all for you! Prices are reasonable for both the food and the alcohol! The staff is good. Plenty of big screen tv's playing all sorts of sports!

Stopped for a beer and burger.

By dougmatt_ta |

Stumbled on this place while out for a walk. Beer list is very good. Burger was acceptable. I will return and recommend to others.

Great atmosphere and fantastic service

By Rachel |

We were well looked after during our visit, I love that most places do table service!!! They need this more in the UK because you don’t miss any of the game! There are TVs everywhere so which ever way you turned you could catch the game! We visited for a Liverpool Arsenal game and there was a healthy mix of both sides supporting! Would definitely go again!

Great soccer bar in the heart of midtown

By Steve Hopkinson |

Want a great, local feeling soccer sports bar with more than a dozen screens in mid town Manhattan? Look no father than Smithfield, a great little bar with a solid lunch/dinner pub menu -- try the spicy pulled pork sandwich -- and awesome drinks specials like $5 pints of Goose! It's a great, non trendy non hipster space that provides a simple, well oiled atmosphere at a relatively affordable price.

Watching the Hammers

Great sports bar nice food and friendly service. Bit of walk from our hotel but well worth it. Food reasonably priced and good portions not sure on the chips though. Stella about $9.00 a pint which is about normal over there.

Didn't want to leave

By ljcuk01 |

The first part of my mans birthday surprise was for him to watch live spurs v Arsenal on his birthday. And what a great find .... Arriving at 730am in the morning we took seats at the bar in true USA style, tables are also available. We ordered breakfast which was truly tasty fresh and filling The bar man (Irish) sorry I forgot your name, was a true gent and a great host. We could have spent the day with this man. Not the football result my man wanted but for at least 15 mins Spurs were top of the premiership on his special birthday ... A few halfway later and before we knew it we had been in the bar for over 4 hours. Truly great place. Truly great atmosphere ... It's a bloke dream ... And as the girlfriend, it still had the things we like, clean toilets (lol) lovely food, great atmosphere , attentive kind staff. Love love love this place. Never been to watch a game whereby Arsenal Spurs West Ham and Chelsea supports all in one room showing a mutual respect ... Life is certainly full of surprises Thank you to you Irish , I am in the best girlfriend books ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Beware

Great bar to watch football but unfortunately they ripped us of with our drinks and food bill by adding stuff we never had !!!!! Going back know to sort it out

Football and beer

By leemJ3770JP |

Watched the play off final and champions league final here. Got a table, good atmosphere and table service. Making noise was not frowned upon and I would describe this as a proper football pub. If you come here with kids expect blokes to watching football and don’t moan- there are literally thousands of places to go in New York. If you are a group of guys that enjoy watching the game with volume then visit. GET THERE EARLY, it gets very busy during big games

Sports - Beer - Atmosphere ⚽️ 🍺 🥊

By RarDen2024 |

This is the place to go for all sports. Whatever you want to watch they’ll get it on for you. The place is run by an Irish family and the guy on the door who is top notch at his job is a British fella. It’s not a rip off like many of the places in NY and the atmosphere is excellent! Enjoy.

Best place to watch football in NYC - Home of NYC Hammers - COYI

By Mark P |

Went to see West Ham play. Due to the time difference, this meant that I was there for breakfast! Cracking atmosphere despite the early hour. Had a good value (Irish) breakfast. Recommended.

Great Pub ambiance, food was quite good, staff very friendly.

By ISeeInHD |

Title about does it. Walked up from 28th/7th - a pleasant walk. Pub is lined in dark woodwork like a pub should be. Staff was jovial and fun. Was immediately asked if I wanted a drink/menu. Food came quick and glass was never empty. Great place to watch some soccer. Will be back on my next trip.

Chowing down in Chelsea

By Nancy S |

Was meeting friends in Chelsea on a Monday night and happened upon Smithfield Hall. They have happy hour drinks all night on Monday and good bar food (calamari, fries and pizza) for a really reasonable tab. Not too noisy either so easy to catch up.

Good food good drinks!

By Danny C |

I've been here a few times for dinner, happy hour drinks with friends, and with colleagues. They have great apps and happy hour specials. HUGE soccer spot. Definitely check this place out!

Excellent atmosphere

By Mark K |

Came here to watch a topmatch in the Dutch Eredivisie,PSV-AJAX,while being in NY. Found this place through google. From the outside it looked closed, but other people went in too. After I came in,I saw the place was packed!! 4 different matches on tv's,the atmosphere was amazing. Definetly coming here again when I'm going to be in NY!! Top place

Nice sports bar

By WFSCDGA |

This review is based on drinks only. I stopped here (twice) for drinks. This is a large friendly sports bar. The atmosphere is lively and the staff are very friendly. When crowded the noise level was higher than I enjoy. We would've eaten here but there were no tables available.

Great bar for sports

By Cyase |

This is a great bar for sports. No matter where you sit there are screens for your viewing pleasure. We came here for march madness and what is so great about this bar is that you can call ahead and reserve a table for you and your friends. The food here is also very good. I would recommend the Chicken Katsu burger. My wife enjoyed the Caesar salad. Even though the bar was very crowded the waitress did a great job on checking up on us. One other note, the bouncer here at this place is what a bouncer should look like. A 7 foot intimidating monster. Just having him there would deter any would be bar scuffles.

Best place for football in NYC

By PAUL K |

Being a Home and Away West ham supporter this venue which is home to the NYC Hammers was a must visit whilst in Manhattan . Luckily there was a game on whilst i was there and i had made arrangements to meet up with some of the American guys i had met on our European campaigns . I had also arranged to meet up with a guy i played football with in the UK some 20 years ago who now lives in Brooklyn . Now here is where it gets weird ...I am sitting having a beer and in walks one of my pals who i see at most away games only now its on the other side of the globe ? Turns out that he was in New York at the same time as us and obviously thought he would pop in and watch the game .. What a coincidence . Kevin the manager is a very nice guy and made us feel very welcome . Great food and Great Guinness.

Fantastic for Footie!!

By Brad N |

Had a chance to stop in to Smithfield Hall to watch the West Ham United match while I was visiting NYC recently and I'm so glad I did. the NYC West Ham supporters group watch all of the matches there and it was a great place to be. I had the American Breakfast, which was excellent, and arrived quickly and with no fuss. The pub itself is excellent for watching the football. They appear to have a couple of different groups that call SH their home, and so there was another group watching their match on TV's at the front of the building and we were watching at the rear. Very easily accommodated and I think the other match was a German team so no fear of conflicts. A must-go if you're looking to catch some Premier League while in NYC. And try the American Breakfast to wash down your beer!

Great Place For The Footie!

By Sandra H |

In NY for a long weekend and looking to watch the Fulham game which was being played at 7.30am! Googled and found this place - even early they were played quite a few games. Great place, friendly staff, great coffee! Definitely recommend it for the football.

Food and Footy....Brilliant

By Marcus O |

We had just landed in NYC and we wanted somewhere to watch England and eat, this was perfect I had researched this previously, as it is home to the Nottingham Forest supporters in NYC, so I wanted to visit and see... Great screens and atmosphere, great service and beautiful food

Top Place for Football and Beer

By Antoinne C |

I tried to find a place to watch the Sheffield Wednesday match whilst in NYC. 10am KO US time. I emailed shortly before and received a reply straight away. Really friendly and welcoming and great selection of beers. The bar itself was showing plenty of games from around the world, Bundesliga, Seria A premiership etc. Really friendly atmosphere Staff were fantastic too. If your team are playing they'll try and accommodate you!!!

Noisy bar with much better than average food

By Ballerman |

We were hungry and in a hurry, and this place was close by. Yelpers said it was great. We didn't have time to read any reviews. We went based on the high star rating. We were a bit surprised when we got there. "It's a bar!" exclaimed our 16-year-old fuddy duddy. It was loud, and the smell of spilled beer (if not decade-old smoke) filled the air. She didn't want to stay. We didn't have a choice. No time to move. We told the waitress we were in a hurry, and she rushed our order. The food was amazing -- especially considering what you might expect from a place like this. We had the wings (possibly the best ever), the shrimp buns (also excellent) and the quinoa salad (fantastic!).

ABHORRENT Customer Respect

By Nick K |

This place has the single worst display of customer respect that I have ever experienced. The bartenders and bouncers patrol the grounds to ensure that everyone has a drink in their hand, and if not, they ask you to leave. I was so disgusted with the prospect of being forced to drink that I will gladly never return to this tyrannical business.

Great food served by friendly and efficient staff.

By MCGDublin |

A group of 12 of us arrived into an already busy place but were warmly welcomed and seated soon afterwards. Between the lot of us I think we had most things on the menu from the delicious Jameson Wings to the tasty burgers all of which were promptly served by very helpful staff. They seem to cover just about every sport on the many tv screens. Definitely worth a visit.

Fantastic bar with great food

By Martyn S |

We watched the Superbowl LII i this bar and had the most amazing, friendly service. The bar snacks we ordered were such high quality and the bacon strips were out of this world

The Ultimate Soccer Bar

By Graham G |

Many TVs with many different games. I was amazed to see them showing Championship games and other games involving lower tier sides. Strong Man Utd following so Liverpool and Man City fans beware. It is also very busy so I recommend reserving a table in advance or you could be seated with random people.

Below average & overpriced

By Picayune1 |

Went with my kids for lunch last week, had the $10 pulled pork sandwich lunch special... as you can see it was the size of a slider at most places, and what you can’t see is the taste, the heat & serve pulled pork from Costco is far better. Fries were under cooked too... all this & had to wait 30 minutes when the place wasn’t even busy

Good English footy bar

By martynsnook |

Pretty much every game is shown in the bar across the screens. Wednesday afternoon was packed. Will either have the hammers or Man U commentary on if there's a group of games. Large bar. Only problem is with that many guys why do you only have one bathroom!!!!

Worth visiting

By Dscott |

Great place to watch Football (Soccer) . Great service and food! Guinness is decent too! Particularly good service from Earl and Dan 10/10

Proper sport bar

By joseph w |

Great place to watch premier league with good beers on tap best so far in NY. Food looked good but didn't have any. Good vibes .

Nice lunch spot in a sports bar atmosphere

By bermudacop |

Had a very nice “pub lunch” here. Served by a cheerful Irish guy named Sean. Enjoyed the BLT with avocado. Fresh bread lots of avocado and great bacon.

Food, Fun, Football

By jeathrey |

Great pub to watch your favorite soccer/football club! Loads of tvs surround the room and you can watch just about any match you want. While we were there, there was a huge group of West Ham supporters adding to the liveliness of the pub each time they scored! We ordered apps which were all good, especially the rosemary fries! My only complaint would be that tables and chairs were at a premium while we were there as many are staying for the entire match and beyond. Go eat, watch and cheer on your favorite club!

Noisy; but exzellent burgers. The best I ever had.

By rothfelder_m |

The location seems to be a typical after-office bar. A bit noisy. Service ist not the fastest ;-) But the burgers were the best burgers we ever had. A dream. So I'd go back there when I'd be around.

Excellent fish and Chips

By Steven S |

Full disclosure I was there late one night for dinner because it was near my hotel. Fortunately the bar has 2 sides /rooms so whilst one was packed the other offered ample seating at the bar. Great Beer and booze list and the fish and ships to back it all up. This will be a short review only because I wish had more time to go back and really soak up all it had to offer

Arguably the Best Soccer Bar in NYC

By TravelingSoccerLoon |

Arguably the best soccer(football) bar in NYC. Great atmosphere inside. They will try to pull up any match that is being televised. Prepare for a packed standing room only sports bar experience if a big match is on.

GREAT place to watch sports

By Danny C |

I just to NYC and in an effort to catch up with friends, stopped by another bar originally to grab beers and food. It was very crowded, and we then stumbled across Smithfield. We found some table space and were able to get good beers (Bronx Pale Ale is great!) and great burgers (I like turkey burgers over beef, but both were outstanding. As we were leaving, the MLS All-Star game was about to begin. The bar was filled with one of two things - 1. FC Bayern Munich jerseys and 2. USA National Team jerseys. An avid soccer fan myself, I think I found my soccer bar in Chelsea. Go here and experience this!

Great bar and food

By Andy Ricketts |

I heard this bar was the headquarters of the New York Hammers, so I included it in my trip. A friendly bar with great food and beer. I had the cheese burger which was probably the best burger I ever had. It was cooked medium and not the usual UK standard overcooked. The IPA beer was very drinkable even at 9.00 in the morning. The staff were friendly and sharp. I would definitely recommend. On a negative note, West Ham lost 0-2.

What a place for the World Cup! 6am!!

By BLKs_Food_Blog |

I was up at 5.50am getting ready to witness a terrific performance by the Socceroos against France in the first World Cup 2018 match. While France ran out 2-1 winners, the Aussie’s did an awesome job. The bar is terrific and I couldn’t believe that at 6am it was packed!

Great Place To Dine and Catch A Game

By Travelin2Anywhere |

Plenty of TVs to catch any sporting event. Had the Free Range Chicken which was outstanding. Nice presentation and delicious. Folks next to me had burgers which looked fantastic. They said they were return guests and the burgers are a must. Will definitely go back.

Great neighborhood bar in Chelsea

By FCIW |

Great neighborhood sports bar we tried on our recent vacation based on reviews on this app. Great food! We had lobster mac and cheese, BLT burgers, chopped cobb salad, chicken wings, and onion rings. Everything was served promptly and with great presentation. We enjoyed our experience so much that the whole family voted to go back 2 nights later and have dinner again. Its a sports bar so the place is noisy but we didn't mind!

Go Notre Dame!

By IrishFan-80 |

I was the only patron watching the Notre Dame game vs Air Force on Saturday.......but the manager gave me a TV for the entire game! I learned this is a UCLA team bar....but of course they all left unhappy. The penn state fans too. Not fancy but alot of TV's and good burgers with beer. Go Irish!!!

Love this place!

By Adam S |

Went back to New York this year and had to go back and visit Smithfield! Brilliant place with friendly staff and customers. I will definitely be coming back here again next year.

Loud place, but very good food!

By kyrt60va |

Ate dinner with the family here. I did not realize it was a sports bar when we picked it from a hotel recommendation sheet, so I didn't expect how loud it would be inside. A real soccer/sports bar and restaurant. Our waitress, Liz was very prompt, and did a good job getting our orders taken and the food to us quickly, since we had to hurry to head to a show. I must say, the Shredded Short Rib Dinner with Herbed Polenta absolutely delicious! It was a tiny bit overlooked (some shredded pieces were a little dry or crispy), but it was one of the most flavorful Short Rib meals I have ever had. I would go back for this dish despite the volume! My wife enjoyed the Macaroni and Cheese with asparagus, and my daughter enjoyed the Atlantic Salmon. Worth a try!

Great beer and fries

By pastorjoene |

After sightseeing in midtown we needed a late lunch and a place to sit down. Smithfield was a great find. Lots of TV's - being a sports bar, but they weren't loud. We found a table for 5 in the back. The 3 adults enjoyed draft beer - a good selection. We all had sandwiches w/fries and ordered rosemary & olive oil fries, not realizing that the sandwiches came with. No problem, we finished all the food! My husband had the Croque Madame - a ham and cheese sandwich w/a fried egg. Yummm I tried the Organic Turkey Burger...it was flavorful, but would have benefitted from a dressing. Our kids got burgers, which looked great...no complaints!

Friendly Nottingham Forest supporter pub

By dochughes |

Having seen several posts on Facebook and Instagram from Forest fans, I took my son here during our short break in New York to watch the Millwall vs Forest game. Nice pub. Friendly. Warm. Welcoming. Plenty of screens showing variety of different matches. Good coffee and according to my son, the best pancakes in New York. Highly recommended.

Official Bar for Barcelona Futbol Club Fans

By Manu D |

OFFICIAL BAR FOR BARCELONA FÚTBOL CLUB FANS. In this bar you always can watch the Barcelona games. It doesn't matter the hour and also they pass a lot of soccer games. There are a lot of Barcelona fans and you feel great there. In this occasion I ate this Phillly cheese steak sandwich with fries, it was ok you can eat their food without complain understanding you are in a bar to enjoy a game and maybe drink not for special food. The service was Good. The hit to the wallet for this sandwich is 10$. ... ---- See you soon in the another review @elmanudominguez (Instagram)

Great food for a sports bar

By Farid F |

Burgers are great, plenty of TV's to be able to watch whatever games are on. There is also a second level for when it gets packed (it does on a Friday night, for example).

Beilliant

By Adam S |

First time in New York and I had read about this place online offering unrivalled sports coverage. Sceptical as I am, I had to come and check it out. From the outside it doesn't look a lot but when you're in there it's like a tardis! Really long bar offering a variety of beers as well as bottles too. All at a reasonable price and well kept too. The football was on multiple large, very well positioned screens which meant no matter where you sat, you could see the game. The waitresses were very attentive and very friendly. I can't comment on the food to a degree as we didn't eat here, however from what I saw coming out the kitchen it looks amazing! We are going again on Sunday for the football so definitely trying the food that time. One tip I will say, get there early to gent a table!

What a great place

My wife and I wanted to watch the Huddersfield play off game so we checked this place out the night before and had a great meal. So good we returned for the game and another meal today 👍👍👍👍👍

Great Sports Bar

By Sugna55 |

Myself and my wife went to Smithfield Hall for one drink but we ended up staying for a lot more and we would have stayed longer only we had a booking we had to go to. The owner Tom is one of the friendliest people you could meet in New York, I suppose what would you expect as he's originally from Cork, Ireland. We also got an extra surprise when we were in the Bar as Jon Bon Jovi came in for a drink. We got a photo taken we him, he was very friendly. If your going to New York you have to visit this bar, great bar but more importantly great owner and staff. Can highly recommend this place. If I'm ever in New York again this is one of the first places I'm going to visit.

Great Pub!

By Cosmo W |

Great pub, lots of TV's, good beer on tap, great bartenders and the food was awesome as well. If I lived in this neighborhood, Smithfield would quickly become my locally watering hole...

Great Bar to Watch English Football

By Simon_Muss |

I was holidaying in NYC on the day of the League 2 play off final and wanted to watch the game. I found Smithfield on TA and gave it a try. Greeted with a friendly welcome as we entered the bar and could not believe the fantastic atmosphere. Barcelona were also on tv and the bar was packed with lots of Barcelona fans wearing their home top. One of the staff pointed out the single tv that had the Southend game on but they put it on another one for us in a quiet area of the bar. We enjoyed some cold draught Estrella and had the house burger which was excellent: I would not hesitate to recommend Smithfield to anyone who wants to enjoy a game with a couple of beers.
