If you want to eat a very good paella in New York go to this restaurant. The staff is very kind and attentive. And the paella is very good. If you want to eat a really good paella in New York, go to this restaurant. The staff is very kind and attentive. And the paella is very good.

On a recent trip to NYC we met some old friends here for dinner. We had a few tapas and paella. The food was prepared well and the service was very good. We had eaten at their Chelsea location a few years ago and the lack of community tables was an improvement.

This is clearly a popular restaurant and the fullness of the venue added a buzz to the ambience. We shared a paella which was generous in its proportions. It was delicious and the best thatI have had outside of Spain. Service was friendly and we enjoyed the evening here.

I just had dinner here. This is my second time. If you like excellent Spanish food and you happen to be in Midtown, this is your place. Different kinds of tapas to begin with, and the finale: one of many different kinds of AMAZING Paella to choose from. Word of warning: the "Paella for two" actually easily feeds four grown ups, especially if you had starters. To note, this place has numerous locations in Manhattan. We were a group of 6 so I booked in advance, only to find in horror that I had booked at another of their locations. Given how popular this place is, it was not easy to accommodate us, but the hostess was incredibly courteous and understanding, and she managed in the end to get us a table, with not too much of a wait. I will go there again for sure.

Great TAPAS place and vibrant crowd. Love the menu selection and the service was fast and friendly. We tried the Seafood Paella that was very good. Just enough for two people. Glad we order the Cod Fish Appetizer which was terrific otherwise we would have been a little hungry. Will make it a point to return

Dinner with a group, this restaurant is perfect for sharing. There is a good variety of flavorful tapas. My favorite was the Napoleon de Versus- layered egg plant, zucchini, tomato, toasted goat cheese with basil oil, pumpkins seeds and arugula. Yuuum. Others raved about the bacon wrapped dates with cheese almonds and roasted apple puree. We shared pans of Paella, the Socarrat and the Pesca y Mariscos. The later being my favorite with ample shrimp, scallops, muscles, cockles, white fish, and English peas. It could have had a little more saffron for my taste. Service was excellent and the cozy small venue made for a fun evening with friends.

Had brunch at the one in Chelsea but not been here before but we're definitely coming back! The food was delicious, excellent choice of wines and the service was friendly and efficient.

I had a dinner with my wife. We were guided to the table on the 2nd floor, however, no servicers came to us and we had spent more than five minutes before the menu was given. I ordered a bottle of red wine on the wine list, but they said my ordered wine was out of stock and asked me to accept the alternative which they recommended. Their recommended wine was a bit sour than the wine which I had wanted to drink. The reason why we chose this restaurant was to have paella, which we love and had eaten frequently during our stay in Europe until last year. Unfortunately, the paella even with lobster was not so tasty. The rice was too waterish for us and seafood was not tasty, either. Although our expectation to this restaurant was high, we regretted to visit here for their paella and services.

Choosing this restaurant was a total shot in the dark. We were staying at a hotel 3 blocks away and felt like Spanish food, so my husband found this place online. What a lucky choice. This restaurant is a gem! Everyone we encountered was warm and friendly, waiters were attentive but not intrusive, manager (or owner) kept checking to be sure we were good. We are sangria connoisseurs and the pitcher we had there was outstanding, as was the potato tapas we shared. The seafood paella was a work of art (especially with the addition of chorizo at our request). For dessert, the staff recommended fry-bread with caramel sauce, lemon curd, and strawberries -- SO GOOD I didn't even want to share it with my husband. We would definitely return. We actually look forward to doing so!

We came here during restaurant week and were pleased about the lunch. The sizzling shrimp was similar to what I had in Barcelona. The restaurant-week version of the paella was not as sumptuous as the regular one, but it was tasty. The scallops were a bit on the bland side, but the shrimp and fish were very flavorful. The dessert was good as well.

Small and noisy but worthy. Try the parkas are the best. Very good arroz negro. Papas bravas and chorizo. The best churros in town.

Wonderful happy hour with half priced tapas and specially priced sangria & wines. The bar has a nice vibe, large assortment of tapas, very tasty. Friendly hostess at the door. The visit got off to a great start. The second floor dining room was cozy so another plus. However, I found the paella to be a disappointment. While it was nicely presented and the “pescado y mariscos” was plentiful with fish, I found it to be dry and salty. I’ve traveled in Spain and tasted various paella. For me to leave leftover in the pan here and not ask that it be wrapped up to take home says a lot. I just didn’t enjoy it. I would go again but would stick with the tapas.

The paella was underwhelming, the rice was somewhat damp, the lobster and seafood in it - average at best but the worst crime was the unimaginative way spices were used in that dish. I do not think there was enough garlic, paprika or saffron in it. It could have benefitted from som chorizo being added to it. Overall, not good value for money. Also, the staff are too preposessed with themselves to really care about the customer. The presentation though was good. A pretentious place not worthy of visit.

I’ve been hearing about Socarrat from my family and we thought we’d try it. I found noisy. It was NYC Restaurant Week so the menu was limited, yet very attractive. I ordered dates stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon. Three of us shared a “carne” (meat) paella. One ordered lamb chops. The food was very tasty, but I found it to be over cooked. The lamb chops were tiny and over cooked as well. We all had churros for dessert. Dry and disappointing. The chocolate ganache was excellent. The servers were attentive. I can’t say I’d go back, and I truly love paella.

I love Iberian Ham and tomato bread. I ordered two orders for take out. The tomato bread was nothing like Spain as it was ordinary bread and not crystal bread. The 5J is supposed to be the best Iberian ham. This did not live up to what I remember in Spain. I ordered for 12:30 pickup and it was not ready when my wife got there. She had to wait.

This is a small restaurant. There is a long bar, where one can eat. We were there for 6:30, and the place was jumping, loud and cheerful voices all around. We had to shout to hear ourselves over the not large enough tables. Squishy would be appropriate. This was our second visit. This time we just let the waiter recommend all the dishes, we had 6 tapas, and only one paella dish made for 2 person. Let me say the whole menu is fabulous. Real Spanish food. Paella was done perfectly "socarrat " , we scrapped the bottom of the paella pan for the burnt rice, delicious. It is an acquired taste. An Englishman may find this inappetizing and unusual, to scrape the bottom. As the saying goes, when in Rome, only this is is Espagna. Forgot to mention, the wine was also fittingly great. Go as soon as possible,

I was amazed at the meat rice I tried in this Spanish restaurant, I can say that I Spanish, I did not expect to eat so rich, despite the good reviews I had read of this place. Rice at its end baked, spectacular flavor. We ordered some tortilla potatoes, croquettes, potatoes bravas, and for dessert chocolate cake (wow! quality). I can say it is the best paella I have ever tasted, it moved me to the Malvarrosa promenade in Valencia. The Spanish metro also with a sympathy that pleases, we spent an evening as if we were in Spain.

We loved the vegetarian paella, wine selection, and tapas at Socarrat. This restaurant is a great value (the paella portions are quite large) and the service and atmosphere are excellent.

Exceptional tapas bar. Staff really goes the extra mile regardless of your preferred language. I was there solo and felt welcomed and taken care of throughout. Calamari was great, the jamon iberico was as good as I've had outside Spain. Will definitely revisit

A great little Spanish paella and tapas restaurant and bar in restaurant row between 50th & 51st. The paella is fine, but I have been here a number of times for a few tapas and a glass of rioja. A pretty good taste of Spain - but if you have the patatas bravas be sure to ask if they are fresh.

This restaurant was recommended to me. We went as a group and ordered several Tapas dishes. We also ordered Sangria. The food was amazing, very flavorful and palatable. The pricing were reasonable, and the service was excellent.

Enjoyed a private event at Socarrat. They brought our 3 different paellas but the seafood was definitely the best. The red sangria was quite tasty too!

Anniversary celebration in NYC was very nice. After walking through Little Italy, we found this restaurant tucked away at the edge of it. The Customer service, food, and drinks was perfect. It was at night and it gave a little romance. We ordered calamari, tuna, and seafood Paella. After we finished the paella the waiter came over to our table and scraped the pan into our plates. It was that good and funny.

The food is excellent and the service. Our son us for my birthday and we had a wonderful evening. Great restaurant. ...

I have now eaten at all three Socarrat locations and can recommend every one. They serve about a dozen different paellas, one more delicious than the next. At my latest visit, we shared the one with black squid ink - fabulous. The upstairs at the midtown location is very nice and relatively quiet. There is a small 'garden room' in the back as well. They bring the paella and instruct you how to eat it so that the socarrat (the carmelized rice on the bottom of the pan) continues to cook until you are ready to scrape it off and eat it like dessert. Yummy! The paellas are for two are quite large and most of the time allow for some to take home.

Recommended by a spanish friend for the paella, and the tapas are not bad either. Service efficient and to the point.

If you want to taste back a good bunch of things you tasted in Spain, at a decent price and with a wonderful service you have to visit Socarrat. Lolo the owner has brought here the taste of Spain with a more than decent price and a great variety of choices. Paellas are outstanding and the collection of wines or Spanish beers too.

My husband and I search out authentic Spanish restaurants in every city that we travel to. New York City's Socarrat did not disappoint! Nice cozy atmosphere. Delicious Iberica ham and manchego cheese board, tortilla espanola and of course bottle of Rioja wine.

When eating paella, it should inspire your senses...but sadly this was not the case... Smell...when bringing out the paella, there should be an aroma of saffron....no fragrance at all Sight...shrimp were the frozen baby shrimp and not the whole shrimp ; usually seafood covers the paella but as you can see its barely provided Taste...rice was too wet and worse part was there is no saffron taste at all Overall, disappointing given what makes paella special is the saffron (thus the price) and when you can't taste/smell the saffron nor is the seafood presentation in anyway special ; makes you long for the days of real paella in Spain...or in other Paella restaurants in the city that actually uses saffron in the dish...

Friendly and authentic, both the food and service are outstanding. Paella, in all its different varieties, is the go-to.

Enjoyed our dinner at Socarrat. We ordered 5 tapas and all were delicious. A bit pricey, but enjoyed our dinner. They do have "Happy Hour" specials on food and drink at different times during the week. Last time we were here during Happy Hour. Delicious and and great deal!

Went there on a Tuesday early evening for happy hour. Happened to also be celebrating a birthday and we were fortunate to get a great table by the bar (where the happy hour applies) but in front of the open windows to the sidewalk. Serve was very prompt and the food was great. We tried the croquetas, meatballs, garlic shrimp, squid and a couple of the desserts. Also had many a red wines, Mahou beers and Rose Sangrias along the way. All food and drink was great, and they were kind enough to give us an after dinner drink on house. Would definitely recommend, and for 1/2 off on all tapas during Happy Hour it's a no brainer. We will surely be back for more.

The service was personable and cheerful. We enjoyed the paella and tapas. Family favorites were the sea bass and the meatballs.

I just love this paella bar! Two friends took be there a couple of years ago. I love visiting Socarrat with them. Whenever anyone visits me and wants to go to dinner, I ALWAYS cast a vote for Socarrat! The food is good - fun appetizers; great drinks; the waitstaff is attentive. Never a letdown. My only complaint is that it can get noisy, so it is difficult for me to focus on my conversation. So, what do I do? Eat! I look forward to my next visit.

After an energy consuming but exciting day it was time to relax and at the recommendation of a local friend we all, 14 of us, went out for dinner and shared few tapas and decided to order 6 of those Paellas, my goodness it was such a feast. Awww, they serve nice margaritas as well.

Our party of three was seated at the first table in front of the door at Socarrat Paella Bar. Since it was a cold night, the table was treated to the occasional blast of cold air. However, the food made me forget this after a while. We had the serrano board, the coles de bruselas (brussels sprouts), and the carrillada de ternera (braised beef cheeks) - all were delicious. Then we had a two-person serving of the langosta paella (lobster, calamari, shrimp, and scallops). Every bit of it - except for the shells - disappeared, but to be honest, I preferred the tapas. We finished by sharing a serving of flan, the only dish that didn't win any raves from us, but perhaps that was because we were full.

Socarrat's first course and main course during restaurant week are quite satisfying. The kale salad with goat cheese, walnuts and cranberries has a refreshing and good taste. Being a cheese lover, I wished that they put more cheese, a good choice of goat cheese. Their seafood stew (fish, mussels, clams, shrimps) has no fishy taste at all. It's remarkable! The potatoes are delicious and well prepared. The churros dessert was a bit overcooked. There are better tasting churros as well.

Excellent Cava Sangria with a coconut flair. Excellent Gambas, Pulpo, Grilled Calamari, and of Course Jamon Iberico. Eating here reminded us of our recent trip to Spain.

I have been at the other location on west side before and I thought I would be the same. Not even close. Glass of wine was so small - about half a normal glass. $14.00. Rip off. I asked how long paella would take and waitress told me 20-25 minutes so I decided to go for a sandwich which took more then that. Food was cold. Do not go unless you dont have a choice.

I had never been to Socarrat for brunch so I was a bit skeptical but I was clearly proved wrong. The brunch like the dinner is tremendous.. the unlimited brunch allows two hours of unlimited sangria or mimosas along with the usual fantastic choice of tapas and paella.. go hungry and walk way away satisfied and happy. Wonderful place to enjoy a Sunday meal with friends.

Delicious paella (I had the vegetarian, and my wife had the seafood) but service is desperate need of improvement. I don't think we will be back.

Such a fun spot for brunch. There is an unlimited brunch deal that is worth every penny. The food is so good. They customize each dish for you instead of bringing tons of dishes off of an assembly line. The red sangria is tasty. Love having the tortilla espñola, croquettes, salad, avocado toast, paella. The churros are such a fun way to end the meal. Such a fun experience. I've gone several times and will continue to bring my friends for a guaranteed good time.

This little restaurant is one of the most authentic Spanish restaurants I have been in outside of Spain. The menu simple - basic Spanish tapas plus paella. We had the octopus prepared very authentically with the potato and olive oil. A beef tapas (we ordered lamb which was sold out so they substituted the beef) which was prepared just right. For paella (prepared for minimum of two) we shared one of the seafood paella (they had at least three seafood paellas to choose from). It was prepared perfectly! The rice had just the right amount of texture, a very generous selection of seafood and then towards the end scraping the bottom of the pan and mixing that into the remaining rice made for an intensely flavor-able dish. If you are looking for a bit of Spain in NYC you will not be disappointed. The restaurant is small. I had no problem making a last minute reservation on Open Table. You will sit close to your neighbors and the noise level is medium.

Very good service, welcoming ambiance, and nice/personable/ attentive waiter (Hugo) . The food was to my taste and I enjoyed my time there. I would recommend this place to anyone, foodie or not.

We had a lovely dinner recently. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. Wish our bellies were larger so we could have eaten more!! Seafood paella was actually full of seafood! Very generous portion. Tapas was excellent-grilled shrimp, grilled squid were exceptional. We will definitely be back!

Went for the lunch time set. Excellent value for money at usd 28++. All three courses were excellent. The croquette and the paella in particular stood out as really high quality excellent tasting dishes. Churros were also excellent. Crispy and went well with the chocolate sauce. Service was fast and efficient and staff members were very friendly and attentive. Also had the rose sanagria which was lovely. Definitely worth a visit. Restaurant is also stroller friendly which is a plus. Definitely worth your while if you’re in the area.

I've been to Spain 5 or 6 times but nothing I ever ate compared to Socarrat! There were 8 of us and we told the owner to select our menu. They brought 6 or 7 Tapas appetizers (best ones Spanish pizzas and Suckling pig oxtail sandwich) and then a seafood paella and meat paella. Everything was wonderful. We also had a white Sangria that was freshly made and Delicious. If you read my many reviews I rarely get this excited! Prices were very reasonable for NYC.

The tapas were good as was the wine. The atmosphere was trendy and funky. The music was good. The lights dimmed a bit too low in the evening and we needed to read the menu with our phone light, but that is ok.

We have reviewed this restaurant before and have tried to communicate with the restaurant about an incident of sickness suffered by my partners daughter on the evening of imminent flight home. This occurred at the Fifty NYC, hotel on a stop over in NY after eating at SOCARRAT restaurant. The naming of the restaurant now seems quite apt..! Take the first five letter away. OK a little childish perhaps, I'm not so abrasive in my reports normally, however this restaurant can sit on its laurels as, we are not normally on the doorstep, none US and none New Yorkers, or were limeys and not going to be heard too loudly from this side of the pond. Well perhaps that might just change. We have as mentioned tried to communicate with the restaurant but we have heard nothing back. After an initial visit the next day morning (pre our flight homeward), to report the bout of sickness in the night, all night, little if any sleep, we were offered some more food or a drink as compensation! Beatrice the manager assured us she would have a look into the matter and come back to us, we left our details. We took off from NY and have been totally ignored since. Customer service - 10 out of 10, adequate response - 10 out of 10. The erroneous dish in question was a paella. Beatrice filled out some form with our notes and info and I'm sure that hit the bottom of a receptacle, as we left the restaurant behind us. On com's alone we wouldn't return for a second chance, no service is no service. being brushed off is being brushed off. The offer of wine and food before a flight is not acceptable, we had an hour in the city that morning as we explained. We at least expected feedback, to look as thought they cared enough to give an attempted explanation, but alas, not even the courtesy or time to do one email.

First visit a year ago and experience was great - nice atmosphere, decent wine list, tasty tapas and paella. We had such a good time there we went back twice in the same week with separate group of friends. Decided to go with family on this trip and was slightly disappointed with quality of the tapas and paella. Atmosphere is still there but everything else was just average. Perhaps an off night?!

although well know for their paella, we opted for tapas since it had not been too long since our last meal. The staff is very professional and attentive and the food is excellent. The place reminds me of many of the old bar/cafes of New York I knew in the 60's. It has quite the atmosphere!

To be honest, I am not a big Spanish food fan, so the lunch experience was not something special for me, prices felt too high. Give it a go anyway if you are in the mood for something Spanish.

My only regret was....not coming to Socarrat sooner...Room was tastefully decorated...dinner crowd was lively; service and food were both top-notched. We love the sangria roja and the arroz negro : yes the socarrat was indeed why we love paella.

We dined here with another couple on their recommendation. They are vegetarian, we are not. Started with Tapas, including the Fried Artichoke hearts, which was delicious. We ordered the Langosta Paella with lobster, shrimp, calamari and scallops. They had a vegetable variety. Both were great. The calamari was a bit chewy, but the flavor was spot on. The rice was perfect and about halfway through the dish, our server scraped the pans, digging up the really crispy pieces from the bottom. Best paella I have had outside Barcelona.

Was looking forward to a nice, quiet family dinner. So here's the lowdown on the food. Poor, and I was very disappointed. Have been to other locations. This one was terrible. The tapas came out so fast it was like they were already cooked and then microwaved. One of the tapas had a rancid smell and taste. There was definitely something wrong with the seafood in the dish, we sent it back. They told us they would let the chef know. later that evening a different table near us ordered the same dish, and it had the same rancid smell. The seafood was definitely spoiled. The paella was marginal. We ordered the seafood/lobster paella. the lobster was dry. The shrimp was mushy, the calamari was tiny. The rice was wet and there was barely any socarrat to scrape and eat. Unfortunately I will not be back, and i am a loyalist, so that's a shame. There have to be better paella/tapas restaurants. I should have listened to my kids when they said on the way to dinner - can't we just go to The Smith across the street???

I've been here several times, always a nice experience. Tapas and paella are delicious, try the seafood paella, it's my favorite. Red sangria is great. The ambiance is very cozy, the second level is very cute. The only downside is the noise level, at the busiest times 7-10p, you cannot hear anything but the ambient noise, let alone having a conversation. And the tab can get hefty quickly! If you go during happy hour and sit at the bar, you get 1/2 price tapas. Reservations are highly recommended.

Going through the list of restaurant for a Wednesday night we picked this one since it was not far from our hotel and was listed well from some New York web review. We were not disappointed. The food and the ambiance were excellent. The service as well. We even engaged an interesting conversation with our waiter who was from Spain. I recommand this restaurant, either we were lucky or not but we were able to reserve a table only 2 hours before going.

Excellent tapas. Quick and friendly service. Nice selection of sangrias, wine, beer and cocktails. Friendly atmosphere.

The brunch selection is outstanding. We had nuevos con chorizos and an omelet. Both were really delicious. The couple next to us got steak and eggs and paella and raved about it Attentive wait staff too

I am very sorry to have to write this review today as I’ve been going to Socarat locations for a couple of years now. Me and my friend were looking for a casual Monday afternoon spot for drinks and paella. We were overcharged for a paella that we always order. After asking to fix the check, we were approached by the manager Anna, who was everything but a manager. She treated us like two illiterate people who had no idea what we ordered, and went on to tell us how we were wrong, by pointing at the menu with a tone of arrogance and ironic laugh. She showed extreme lack of competence and customer service. So much for a New York Restaurant experience. This place risks bankruptcy if lead by such managers.

Started with shrimps in garlic. They were excellent and piping hot. Would recommend. Had the arroz negro, very good, I wished they had come and scraped the burnt bottom(the socarrat) for me. Otherwise the service was excellent. The sangria is OK, would recommend that one drinks whatever one wants and not be tied to the sangra? Will return.

Went with friend for dinner and loved, loved the fideua (noodles paella)- Others ordered paella, which was also very good. They offer a big variety of classic Spanish tapas to start with...will come back!

Hi All, This is my first ever bad review. Usually if I have a meal that isn't great I don't write a review, however this evening I felt the need. Myself and my partner ordered from the tapas menu. All the items we ordored lacked flavour and seasoning... I and my partner travel to Spain on a regular basis so know what Stanish food should taste like and this place isn't doing it any justice. We also eat a lot of Spanish food in London where we live. New York is a melting port for global cuisine, but Socarrat doesn't shine as an authentic taste of Spain.

The vegetable paella was okay. It was a bit too greasy, not many vegetable, but satisfying none the less. The serrano ham was excellent - lean and thinly sliced. Service was good. The seating is either bar or high top. There is plastic shield a separation between tables.

Disappointing because we visited the restaurant in the evening of 19th July this year at 10:19 we settled our bill. The next day we called back into the restaurant around midday to report our daughter had been ill all the night after the langosta paella. We saw the manager Beatrice and filled out a report card. Beatrice explained she would come back to us by email after an internal investigation. We are to date still waiting that communication. Is it perhaps that we are foreign visitors such reports are not duly followed through? Was it the fact we were leaving for JFK that day at 6pm, we shall not know it seems. However we were thoroughly disappointed with the experience and we are now thoroughly displeased with the lack of communication. We were offered a drink and a return meal but at the time relinquished the offer as our daughter was back at the hotel trying to make herself comfortable as she was up the whole night.A very unfortunate end to a once again pleasant visit to the big apple.

I took a couple of clients here for lunch and it was great, both indoor and outdoor seating with ample space between parties. The wine list was great, well laid out lunch Pre fixe. Pulpo a la galaga amazing. One of the best almond torte I have had in a while. Very great dining experience, staff was very attentive and hospitable. I will dine here again.

My wife ad I were visiting my step daughter and husband who had moved to New York last Christmas. My step daughter wanted to try this place and as my wife has a strong Spanish connection we agreed. We decided to have a mixture of tapas and paella as our meal washed down with a nice bottle of wine. We had croquettes, pimientos, boquesrones, tortilla and paella for two. The tapas was very good and reminded us of our many trips to Spain and the Canary Islands although the pimientos could have some extra rock salt on them. The paella was tasty but the bottom was burnt. This was not a particular problem as we had mote than enough food to not have to use the lower level of it. However, the waiter came up to us when we had nearly ended and picked up the paella dish and scraped what was left into a pile in the middle of the dish. This mixed the burnt bits and the non burnt bits which meant we had to stop eating it. This cost the restaurant the top rating. Service was good and friendly and overall the meal was good. As everything in New York is so expensive I cannot gauge how good value for money the meal was. Compared to other meals, at $153.52 (excluding tip) it was in the middle range.

Paella Carne was salty and dry to the point of being nearly inedible. Individual pieces of meat (chicken, pork, sausage) were tough and indistinguishable from each other. And very pricey at $54 for two. Artichoke tappas smothered in tasteless white creamy goo. Major disappointment.

Croquetas as entrees and buñuelos as a dessert are a must! We had Arroz negro and Spanish beer and it was delightful. Will come back! Staff were mostly Spanish and super nice :)

My wife and I enjoyed every minute with our niece having dinner in this delightful place. We had three different tapas appetizers and Socarrat paella. Every bite is heavenly tasteful. We ended with Torrija dessert. This is one the best Spanish foods we tasted in the area. And I can say maybe comparable with the foods we experience d in Burgos and Santiago de Compostela in Spain. A little pricey but highly recommended.

Although we wanted to go to the one in Chelsea, we decided to come here because we do not fancy communal tables and no to chairs without backs. We were seated immediately and our wait staff was very pleasant and attentive. We stayed for the longest time and they never suggested for us to leave. This is a great place to meet friends when there are a lot of catching up to do. The gambas appetizer was very good. Salad was fresh and had good dressing. However, the paella needs a bit of improvement. It is not bad, it was alright but we have had better paellas. Definitely a place to meet friends.

This is one of our favorite neighborhood spots. Good food, always fresh, always busy. Great for lunch and for dinner. Great for business, a group of friends, family or solo! Recently we had a large farewell of 14 people and they handled it very well. Prefix menu and since it was in the middle of the week we received a little bit of a discount off the medium sized prefix. We really enjoy coming here and will continue to do so while we live in NY!

Came to meet friends at this busy restaurant. Downstairs it is really busy and a bit loud. Great atmosphere. Upstairs it is more quiet, but equally enjoyable. Good tapas, well spiced and cooked to perfection. Try the wine from Bierze, it is only about 40$ and very nice indeed.

I ordered the Arroz Negro. I think all it was was white rice with squid ink mixed in. Then a couple of pieces of seafood on top. Definitely not worth the price. It looked embarrassing. I have had paella at many places and this was by far the worst. Will not go back.

After a long day walking the city we wanted to stop for a snack and came in here. A warm welcome as we sat at the bar, where the soccer game was on and the bartender brought us drinks and we ordered some happy hour snacks of Marconi nuts, olives, and cheeses. Another patron told us he frequented this restaurant often and raved about their paella. We will definitely be coming back here again to try it.

Nice neighborhood restaurant that served tasty food and fine wine. I was the only one sitting barside, and found the staff extremely friendly.

Wonderful and relaxing dinner. Service was friendly and prompt. Love the ambiance. And the food... our only mistake was ordering a bit too much! We were there during NY restaurant week, so there was a great special: one price appetizer/paella/dessert, to which we added two additional tapas. Highly recommend the datiles, arroz negro paella and patatas brava, but honestly I have a feeling you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

I have not eaten there in a year but it was good the last two times. This time is was outright mediocre disappointing food. The Brussel Sprouts tapas was fair. The artichoke tapas stunk. I should have returned it but did not want to embarrass my business companion. And it was like $12. The Sangria tasted worse than what we dran in college. Ditto on why I did not return it. The Paella did not seem freshly made. It did not take 45 minutes as they say it would, more like 20. It must have just been warmed up. Will never return.

We came for lunch and had a couple drinks and restaurant week menu, we had the squid ink paella was great! They even let me charge my phone which was a lifesaver as a traveler!

Very attentive and well informed staff plus excellent food. Meatballs and Brussels sprouts were good apps and the paella was crispy on the bottom as it should be and quite delicious. A nice pink cava was the perfect beverage accompaniment. Bunuelos de chocolate are a must have dessert. So good! Adding this restaurant to my “Where to Eat in NYC” dining list.

We had a decent lunch a Socarrat. Our selections were limited to the Tapas items, but the food was very good and the outdoor seating was enjoyable. The service was a bit slow, but not unlike Spain so maybe it was fine for this venue. I would recommend and return.

Friends recommended Socarrat to us as a pre-show tapas & bar for our pre-show time. This restaurant is much larger then it looks from the street. Its deep and has a upstairs. We found the staff friendly and attentive. The food was devine. Pure pleasure. I do recommend.

We went to Socarrat for a light dinner last week. Everything was impeccable. The service was friendly and prompt, the food is sublime, the wine is delicious. I cannot recommend this bar/restaurant highly enough.

I made a reservation on open table for one and they kindly called to explain the reservation I made was at the bar. It's rather off as open table does not allow you to pick a table or bar, but whatever. They allowed me to sit at a delightful table outside on the sidewalk. The restaurant was recommended by a local Spaniard for the paella. I was so disappointed when I read that it was price per person with a minimum of two. However, because of Restaurant Week, if you sit at the bar you can order for one. The problem now was there were no seats at the bar any longer. I decided to order the Socarrat paella anyway paying double the price. Well it was worth it. The seafood was fantastic! So go for it, experience paella or even the tapas like you might in Spain.

We love going to this spot for happy hour. Appetizers and selected beverages are half off. Good deal for the Big Apple. Staff excellent.

This place has everything going for it. Great food, great staff and location, location, location!! Stopped in for a drink with a friend and found a great Happy Hour that includes Tapas at half price. Wow! Everything we ordered was delicious and the bartender Juan and the manager Benny were most accommodating and pleasant. We will be going back again soon!!

During a recent visit to Manhattan, we met up with my cousin and his wife, who ate locals, and they chose this great spot. We had an array of tapas for appetizers, and two paella dishes to share. All very tasty and the staff were very friendly and informative. We had a great evening and it was helped, in no small way, by the food, staff and atmosphere of this restaurant.

Don't bother with this spot, I made the bar guy uncomfortable as a solo traveller, the chorizo was tasteless and tomato pate too oily. On the plus side the decor is gorgeous and cosy, and the wine list is decent.

We were in this cozy restaurant on evening after intensive day in NY. The start we take two tapas from tuna and squids - was very very delicious. After we take paella with ribs, rabbit and other meat - the same was ecxellent, like and house spanish wine (we tast white and red). Staff was profesionals. Price level not high.

Dining solo, I sat at the bar and enjoyed excellent service and some small but very good steamed mussels accompanied by fresh baguette bread. I noticed that, although they had a couple of TVs installed, no one was paying attention to what sport event was being shown -- no one seemed to care. Glad that the restaurant is part of the AADining program which brings added benefits.

This is our favourite spot to go for Paella! We always pick the carne dish and it’s so good we could eat there every night . The red sangria is also very good and there’s a large variety for choice of tapas which are all tasty !

I and my friends have been coming here for happy hour for more than ten years. We love it! The service is wonderful, the tapas are great, and we love the wine. And with the happy hour rates, big bang for your buck.

We got the paella they are known for. It was a new experience for us and we liked it. We shared because the dish is quite large. Seafood, clams, fish, and caramelized rice. They found us a table even though we were walk ins on a busy Friday Night. Bartender was nice. Try the Sangria.

We love this place. Legit. When you want to be in Spain but you can't and when you want wine/sangria, tapas and paella. Two tv's if you want to watch internatioal soccer. Outdoor sidewalk dining. Always good and a great date place.

Wonderful tapas restaurant. Delicious paella, cooked perfectly. We also had croquets, pan con tomat, fried calamari and skirt steak with the beignets. All have been delicious.

We went on a Friday evening and a fellow patron who lives nearby said we were lucky to get a table. Having had a late lunch, we were not interested in the paella dishes although they did look amazing. The tapas dishes were all delicious and reasonably priced. The servers were on task and totally paced the flow of how they came out perfectly. The sauces were excellent and the freshly made bread was abundant to finish it all leaving the serving plates clean. When we finished the last bites of one, the next would come out piping hot from the kitchen. Wine was good as were desserts. Definitely will return but will make a reservation to secure upstairs table.

I've been to all three branches of this restaurant, but this one pales in comparison to other two downtown sister restaurants. The service lacked from the minute I walked in the door. It could've been that everyone was too busy watching the World Cup but that's no excuse. I showed up quite early for my reservation in the restaurant was not busy. The bartender was great but the waitstaff and the hostess were too bust talking.

I was there for restaurant week. Menu had few options. Service was good and attentive. Food was limited and mediocre.

Food was delicious- we shared paella. The only issue was that they serve gigantic portions. Tapas had a limited selection.

I have quite a few times for lunch and it’s a good address on a uninteresting neighborhood. It’s more winter fare. The paella’s are quite the real stuff: I particularly like the Arroz Negro with seafood. Good starters; fried artichokes, Spanish ham, grilled octopus. Nice selection of affordable wines. Friendly and unpretentious service. I recommend it

I am an investment adviser and entertain clients at restaurants often, so I know a lot about food and service. The online menu states paella prices are per serving, not per person. While the menu does state minimum of 2 orders it does not state that both orders must be the same. Upon being seated I confirmed with server that a serving included a full lobster. Unfortunately, when our orders arrived it was 1 paella with 1 lobster not two. The lobster was overcooked and the rice was burnt black. No other seafood was included except some small very fishy and over cooked squid rings which we did not eat. When I confronted the server he denied confirming that each order contained a lobster. $74 dollars for an overcooked lobster on burnt rice. Shame on them !!!

In the past, I've reviewed Socarrat in Chelsea but this was my first time at the 2nd Ave location and it was even better. This location has the identical fantastic menu as the original restaurant. The paellas are outstanding. This location lacks some of the charm of the original location, but it more than makes up for it with more spacious seating and its mainstream friendlier waitstaff. Our party had the fortune of being attended by a young waiter named Taylor from Alabama. She was both helpful and charming and is an asset to this business. Overall this is one of the best experiences you will have with Spanish cuisine without having to fly across the Atlantic.

Been here several times now and is totally dependable for quick service and good food. As it was such a sunny day took advantage of the few tables outside !

Fantastic food and a great atmosphere! I lived in Spain for a period of time, so I can be picky. Every tapa, our paella, and sangria at Socarrat were very authentic. Can’t wait to return!

The food here was outstanding. We didn't even try the paella - we just made a meal out of several tapas. Our only complaint was that the service felt really rushed. I wish the servers had paced things out better. That said, we would definitely come back!

We ate here during restaurant week (and arrived during happy hour). Great experience. The Sangria was superb. The appetizers were great. Charred octopus (happy hour special) was cooked perfectly. On the restaurant week menu we had the mussels which were out of this world. We shared a special paella which was great. The flan was very nice also. It could be a bit expensive out of the special week but we would definitely return.

Great service, great tapas, great sangria... all signs were good leading up to the paella, so we were shocked that what the restaurant is known and named for was so poor. It looked like the seafood was just boiled and then put on after the rice was cooked. It was the first time in our life we didn't finish seafood on a meal because we weren't even entirely sure if the scallops were fully cooked. The seafood lacked any flavor. It was a shame that we actually left hungry, given how much the paella cost.

The staff were wonderful and attentive. The Paella was expensive and tasteless. basically I paid a little less than $100 for Paella for three and got bland rice and seafood that wasn't much better. Some of it was past its prime. The Apps were good. If you go here have a beer and some tapas avoid the paella it just isn't worth it. Also so you know when you order wine by the glass its a small glass with a small pour and a full size glass price. The draft beers are a better deal and again avoid the paella wasn't worth it at all.

The crunchy, caramelized rice at the bottom of the pan is what true paella lovers look for, and Socarrat is named after and dedicated to exactly that. In the Philippines, we call it "tutong" or burnt rice which isn't accurate but descriptive enough. I look for it whenever I eat paella anywhere in the world and I was very pleasantly surprised to find it in this small restaurant in New York City. The tapas were also excellent here. We had pulpo, gambas and patatas bravas. Everything was delicious. I also wanted to try the chorizos of the guy at the next table! The place was quiet and the service was very good. Nice date place.

The worst service I have ever received in a restaurant. The manager / owner (am not sure who this man was, as he did not even introduce himself) was the most rude, absolutely arrogant person. We went in with our kids for dinner. Yes, they were not in their best behavior as is normal with kids their age. This person showed zero comprehension from the moment we stepped in, ended up going to our table after my 3 year old was being a bit loud asking if we did not know how to control our kids, as if they had an on off button. We basically felt expelled from the place. Never going to this place again.

We went here the Sunday before Christmas after looking for a good restaurant for paella. The rest Aubry is two floors with a bar on the first and dining room in second. Second floor was quaint and had a large window view and terrace decorated with a Christmas tree. We sat by the terrace view which was perfect. We ordered three tapas- croquettes which were amazing, chorizo was the special croquette of the day, mussels, and Brussels sprouts. All were delicious. For paella we ordered the carne (chicken, chorizo and beef) and the langosta (lobster and seafood). The car e paella was dry and over cooked but the seafood paella was cooked to perfection. Large pieces of seafood (quid, calamari, scallops, shrimp and a whole lobster). For dessert all ordered churros and chocolate dipping sauce which again were excellent. My husband also ordered a sherry and it did not disappoint. Although we did not get the name, ask what the wait staff recommend - they did not disappoint.

The restaurant double my bill . Credit card allowed me to pay half. Keep your receipts. BE CAREFUL !

Had Tapas at the bar with some nice Rioja wine , Spinach croquettes, Tortilla, Tuna and chipirones all fantastic. Try the Flan and tarta Santiago for dessert. Service is polite and gracious.

I was here two weeks ago with a friend, who suggested them for a night out. I really enjoyed the authentic Spanish dishes, even though there were a bit pricey. Would I be back, yes

We like Soccarat more for its tapas and go a few times every year. The tapas are very good but of course small by definition. We got to identify our favorites on the list. The wine list is also quite good. However, the tab runs rather high except for paella, which is not our favorite of the menu. Therefore we do not frequent more often. We always sit in the bar area, where there is a lot of buzz. Juan, the main bar tender makes great drinks and is very attentive to the quality of service and is welcoming.

Fun dinner spot had the best sangria For dinner we shared a salad and 2 paella one lobster delicious and one with chicken and brisket both were very good Would defiantly go back Service was very good

This used to be a great place. I work in the neighborhood and I have a client for the past 5 years. Until today. Usually came with a colleague and, other than having wine, we shared 3 starters and than one paella for 2. Today we put the same order to be told that we had to order paella for 2. Plain stupidity: 3 starters make much more money that 1/2 paella. The staff used to be very friendly: unfortunately they have been replaced by extremely aggressive and rude people. The manager is just a disaster! It’s always a pity when after coming to a place for 5 years you have to stop it like this. To the new owners: good luck! The restaurant was half empty today. This a very competitive neighborhood for lunch restaurants. With this kind of staff you are not gonna go far. Bye !

Found this place near our hotel. Socarrat has a varied tapas menu...the four items we tasted were all very yummy. There is limited seating outdoors and a few open air tables in the window. Great on a summer night with a slight breeze. We wanted to have the Restaurant Week menu, but were told the signature dessert wasn't available. Rather than giving a choice of what else was on that list, we were offered only one selection. Changed our order. The tapas selections were all very tasty, if a bit lacking on the 'specialty' items in their mix...ie., not alot of fish in their Salpicon de Mariscos...but what was there was good. And yes, tapas does mean small savory dishes. While the food was above average, the waiter was not very attentive. There's a difference between giving diners an opportunity to enjoy their food and not showing up to refill or ask for other needs. We waited awhile before finally asking for the check. The place was not overcrowded...

We swing through NYC from the Caribbean every other month or so for business and we always have a night at Socorrat. Al of their locations are fabulous but this one is our favorite. The paella is divine and the bottle of Prima we order each time goes so well with it. Great and hospitable staff and the kind of environment where you'll soon be friends with the parties on either side of you.

I always go for the dátiles and arroz negro. Both are absolutely delicious. I love that burnt rice at the bottom of the pan. And the sangria is wonderful, goes down VERY easy.

We had a selection of tapas, the highlight of which was the lamb shank. We also enjoyed the spicy potatoes and the veal meatballs. Restaurant has a small outdoor seating area, which was perfect on a nice fall evening. Service was excellent.

When my date had told me about a place that had excellent paella I was all in. First, we taste tested one of the Sangrias (might ave been the de Cava) but it was too sweet so we settled on the Sangria Roja which was less sweet and more suited our taste. Then we had as an appetizer, the Marcona almonds and marinated olives which were 'delicioso'. The main meal was the Paella PESCADO Y MARISCO. that reminded me of my visit to Spain several years ago. It was delicious and was filled with sea food. The owner/manager was from Spain and we had nice chat as he was from the Madrid region. My only issue was the seat i sat on was hard and would best add to a more pleasant evening if it was cushioned. In summary, you can tell your taste buds that this is an excellent place to dine and that you can bet that I will revisit it to satisfy my palette again with great tasting food and wine.

We went to Socarrat as it was only a couple of blocks from our midtown hotel. It was a real find in amongst a clutch of neighbourhood restaurants that made for a refreshing change from the chains that dominate only 10 minutes walk away. Service was good, The tapas were tasty and not over facing. The date and bacon tapas (I forget the Spanish name for it!) was particularly good. The menu was fairly priced for the neighbourhood and quality. The wine list was comprehensive - we had a great Spanish Riesling. Definitely recommended if you are in the 50s on the east side of midtown.

This was my introduction to Paella and it couldn't have been at a better place. There were 12 in our party and everyone was able to order or share a dish which they could eat. The service was great and the server was very patient in explaining to us what we were about to order as not many had eaten paella before. In addition to the paella I also had tapas. Everything was quite tasty

Used to really like this place. But last 2 visits are showing signs of complete mismanagement. One visit, Wouldn't be so bad if the wait staff stopped by once in a while to push some drink orders, but they are too busy talking to each other and checking their phones. Cool atmosphere but service on a Friday night for dinner took a really long time :( everything from drinks to getting the check had at least a 20 minute lag time (like even getting our beers, food I totally understand). Socarrat has the worst tapas (or even meal) I've ever had. Seriously McDonalds is more tasty and satisfying. We went there on a Friday night and got a table right away (bad sign). The tapas tasted like they had been in a freezer for months and they microwaved them right before serving. We got the garlic shrimp, chorizo, fried potatoes, and artichokes. Each one was worse than the previous. We ordered the black rice paella as a meal to split among three of us. It was just... boring. The scallops were a little strange tasting and the rest of it was bland and tasted frozen. WARNING DO NOT GO HERE!!!

My wife and I went out for a lite bite and came across Socarrat, and we had an outstanding dinner. We went with the Tapas menu, and everything came out at a nice pace, and the food was outstanding. It was a beautiful evening, so we ate in the outdoor dining area. The service was excellent, and the prices reasonable. We will be going back.

If you're looking for authentic Spanish flavors in a cozy and welcoming setting, look no further than this hidden gem of a restaurant. The tapas were the standout dishes, featuring perfectly cooked lamb, tender short braised ribs, and succulent squid. The portions were just right for sharing and the flavors were spot-on. The service was attentive and friendly, making for a truly enjoyable dining experience. Whether you're a seasoned foodie or just looking for a delicious meal, this Spanish restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

I read a review on this restaurant and it was intriguing, plus it was a few blocks away from our hotel and we love paella. The place was packed on a Friday night, we were seated on time with our reservation and the service was awesome. Wine and the paella were excellent as well.

We love Spanish food and finally got the chance to try this place. We started with chorizo, gambas, beef skewers and the pan con tomate. They were all good, specially the chorizo and gambas. Then we ordered the Socarrat paella and the black paella. Both were good but the black paella stood out - subtle seafood taste, pure bliss! We also had the red wine sangria which was just ok. Definitely come here for the paella!

Socarrat is well aware the star menu is the dinner menu as the brunch menu doesn't heavily feature their namesake. Service is quick and prompt, waitstaff here are so kind as to scrape off the best part of the paella (the socarrat) off the sides for you as well as provide recommendations on how to eat the paella as to get the best taste. Portions are fairly large so expect to leave full even if you order minimally! Table turnover during brunch is also fairly slow so feel free to come with a group and take your time chatting for hours.

I met a friend to celebrate her birthday. The staff went out of their way to accommodate our needs and make us feel special. We are both older females with some limitations. The food was wonderful and they went out of the way to make this a truly special occasion. I enjoyed the meal from start to finish. I recommend this place .My favorite tapa is Datiles, which have not found any place else. Sometimes I come here just to get them.

A lot of pressure to consume. Finished my Gin Tonic, immediately the bill came. I was waiting for someone else to order the rest of the food. Gin and tonic alone cost $34, which I find a scandal expensive. I think my card was overloaded. Terrible.

I'm from Barcelona so i know what is a real spanish food and in Socarrat you can find it. The "jamón iberico" is great, the paella is pretty good. I'm living for one year in Albany and I went to New YOrk City with my family and I could eat real spanish food for once during my year so if you are trying to find a real spanish food in the city that's the place! And it's not so expensive, the price is good for the food.

Dont miss the sangria. We had the classic red but they have sparkling and rose as well. The papas bravas, tortilla espanola, octopus and calamari were great tapas. We had the seafood paella for 2 and it is a large portion that more could share. Lots of seafood and the squid ink rice was perfection. Great service from a waiter who knows the menu.

We went for dinner expecting the real deal in spanish cuisine. But some things were better than others. We ordered: patatas bravas ( very good), tortilla which was good too, A cheese plate was ok, a jamon serrano not too many pieces sliced very thin and cold with pan con tomate which was cold too. The chicken croquettes were very good, some olives and akmonds and pimientos del padron. In general I can say it was ok but very exoensive for the quality and quantity. The place is nice and not so crowded. The menu , although its a spanish restaurant,I may say it has some adjustments to Local taste.

We live in NYC and visit Socarrat locations every couple of months when we want to get "our paella on." We like the Second Avenue locations second floor balcony where you can enjoy the food and wine and people watch without the noise and traffic of street level dining. It compares favorable with the best paella we have had in Spain and on most every visit many of our fellow diners were speaking Castilian Spanish so we assume it meets their standards with respect to authenticity and taste.

We have been to this restaurant many times, but over Christmas we took a group of 6 of us after a show. They called and asked if we would like to preorder paella since it was a very late reservation. We had a few appetizers like grilled octopus, calamari and some artichokes to start with and they were all fine, but we ordered the lobster paella for 8 and it was literally out of this world!!! The lobster was perfectly flavored and cooked and the paella was really really good. We all couldn't get enough of the Soccarat on the bottom of the pan. We had lots of sangria, not the really sweet kind, but made with a dry red wine and it was perfect with the paella. This place is perfect for a group!! Not cheap, but worth every bite! Great atmosphere too and the help couldn't be nicer! We will go back again and again.

This is now a go-to meeting place for my college friends when friends visit from out of town. The black rice paella with garlic aioli is fantastic and a crowd pleaser. One can’t go wrong with any of the tapas. On our last visit, I couldn’t stop finishing up the Brussels sprouts.

Food was average, including their much touted paella; service was terrible. Waiters had no idea what each menu item was called in Spanish, but their English wasn’t good either. So they got the order wrong three times. Had been there before and the server was from Valencia, a Barça fan, so whole experience was much better. Still, not the best tapas bar unfortunately. Couldn’t get them to change temperature and it was extrenely cold upstairs.

We had a wonderful happy hour here. The food was amazing. The staff was attentive. The wine was really good. The sangria was a little sweet, but that is just my preference. I know some people like it this way. We went on a Saturday, and it wasn't too crowded. They told me that it is packed during the week. They have great small plate specials during Happy Hour, but at the bar only. Great Value!

We had a takeout Paella for two dinner Due to the COVID restrictions. We weren’t impressed with it at all. In fact, we didn’t finish it. Lots of rice and not much in terms of proteins. I wouldn’t wast my money.

My partner and I found this place by chance and we were very surprised, finally a piece of Spain in the city! The croquettes and potatoes bravas, and the spectacular meat rice. Very nice deal and music! To repeat!!

Excellent paella! Three versions. Also good tapas! We went to the one on second ave but there are 2 more in the city.

One of the best Spanish food I have ever tasted. Very friendly and a warm atmosphere. One feel very comfortable once you are in. Not too many people. Paella was not soft but crunchy, especially the bottom. Starters were great, we ordered twice, deep fried green peppers yummy. I will define tell come again.

Best Paella in New York City. Lovely and fun restaurant with exceptional and authentic food that will satisfy every patron. Great menu and wine list.

We went for lunch and were not disappointed. The figs and grilled calamari were the stars of the meal, but the paella and seafood stew were delicious as well!

Loves this place — much more space that initially from the street - great service - reasonable prices - sangria was delicious not overly sweet as it usually is. Paella was big and yummy

Hotel concierge recommended this place for dinner. Really nice tapas. Go for the brussel sprouts, the stuffed dates and the patatas bravas. They are really good. Great Rioja too.

We squeezed in here on reservation during restaurant week. The place was hopping, and reservations were a must. Walking in you are struck by the aromas of saffron and seafood, which remained the theme for the night. This is a busy little place, like most city restaurants, and as a result gets noisier and noisier as people strive to hear each other and to be heard. A fun place to eat but not a place for a leisurely, relaxed meal. We were here for restaurant week, but nearly ordered off the menu instead, since the prices are low enough that you can do about as well either way. So while it is not cheap, it is a very reasonably priced place. Best plan of action is probably to have the paella, staring with a few tapas for the 30 minute wait. Service staff is trained to guide you this way anyway. We had the fried artichokes and chorizo first - both pretty much what you would expect and quite good, with a nice amount of grease in the chorizo to soak up with bread. Aiolli with the artichokes could have been a bit better we thought. Paella was very nice - a wide pan of perfectly cooked rice, not dried out but a little crispy on the edges (hence "Soccarat"). We got a couple of big shrimp each, lots of fish, some mussels and cockles, an bits of squid and beef. All very tasty, although I did get one tickle that was filled with sand that might have been pulled out in the brighter light of the kitchen. We had a bottle of 2011 Dominio del Cuco Tinto Fino, which was pushed by the waiter. It was a perfect match that got better and better as the dinner went on. It doesn't seem to be generally available here, so I suspect they got a good deal and make some extra money off that vintage, but that is OK, it was a good wine and worth the price we paid, and we hope this small group of Soccarat restaurants stays in business a long time.

I visited this time the midtown east side location. Please don’t get fooled thinking restaurant week will make a dime difference on the princes . It does not! To me it is over price for what you get. I’m nos saying food is bad, cos I will be lying, but is too way overpriced and don’t event mention liquor. Service was nah … ok. The waiter mentality is to serve fast forgetting about detail and the client’s experience. Overall I will give from 1 to 10 a 6 score because is not an Spanish experience, it’s expensive for what you get (ambience, music, service) and lack of touch from waiter. I save the food cos it was good ! Thanks !

Everything was absolutely delicious! If you want paella in NYC, this is the place to go! From the tapas, to the drinks, and even Spanish like orange Coca Cola, I loved everything about this spot!

love it....service was awesome, food was very good...lamb & cannelloni was delicious, great sangria. Not to even talk about the desserts: creme brulee and lemon tartar great. The place is easy to passed but the tables invited you in. You can seat down in or outside and the staff were friendly and make sure that we have anything that we need it. Awesome!!! 😍

Excellent Lolo and her team. Great service and Spanish food with homemade and high quality recipes. An absolute pleasure

Saw this place next to our dinner spot. Saved room for some churros with Nutella or hazelnut. I reality wanted to try their gazpacho and some sautéed mushrooms too. Most known for their paella, it seems. They took the gazpacho off the menu, must be because it’s cold outside and nearing winter. No seating for walk-up’s except for the high tops, the long counter along the bar counts as part of the high top, also the bar is available as well. It’s good we are here early. Most folks are better off with reservations for Saturday night dinner. We settled and decided to order the tortilla, churros with Nutella or hazelnut sauce. $26.13. The tortilla was super disappointing, mushy and not good. Didn’t taste freshly made, but reheated and nuked in the oven, since it was scalding hot. Nothing like what I have eaten when living and or visiting Spain. The churros was crunchy, chewy and nicely seasoned with sugar. Went well with the Nutella. I could eat more.

Love love love this place.. first off shout out to Juan what a gem of a bartender.. He still remembered me lol.. happy hour gets packed but we got lucky n were to snag great seats as the place is small n they do have outside seating plus upstairs.. great service too!! u must start with a sangria and then your appetizers ..My favorite is the pan con tomate n the Gambas in ajillo. Always well made.. the chorizo is good choice as well n of patata bravas ..everything was delicious n fresh definitely one of the best in area ..thank u

Love this place in Chelsea; second time having dinner and had a very good time.Great sangria, started with tapas such as dates wrapped in bacon, octopus and grilled calamari.Paella was the highlight of the whole meal, don't quite remember our servers name but Alessandra went above and beyond to make this night special. We'll be back.

We stumbled upon this place while looking for a spot to have a drink. What a pleasant surprise! Friendly staff, yummy tapas and sangria. Great place to eat while in midtown.

went here for brunch this past Sunday. Limited menu. I had apple pancake it was not hot and really did not taste like a pancake. The worst part was I ordered a cup of coffee - which was expensive. Very small cup and they charge for refills!! My husbands food was just ok. So many restaurants we will not be back.

This is a great date spot or after work with friends spot. The tapas are very good and the wine selection is great. The bacon wrapped dates are a favorite. Their seafood is always cooked well and the Paella is fabulous. My favorite is the Paella made with squid ink. The servers are alway polite. The one downfall is that happy hour is only at the bar and their are only like 10 seats...so if you do not get their right when happy hour starts, don't even think about taking part in happy hour pricing.

This is a small restaurant with some bar space and it can get crowded. The food is quite delicious. They have a variety of paellas and they are clearly to be shared, go with a few people. The service is just about fair. Appetizers came at different times and mine was forgotten. After I reminded them, it got reordered in the kitchen.

We ordered tapas and paella from the brunch menu. All our dishes were delicious, the paella was top notch. While we enjoyed the food and drinks we will never return due to the service. The city has way too many great restaurant options to settle for rude, rushed, unprofessional service.

We went last year during Restaurant Week to Chelsea branch which was way better. The tables were tight and tiny and lopsided (tilting on cutting). Service was below average; water refilled once and only on request. Dishes were removed almost immediately upon finishing and bread taken away, even though we were not finished with it. Bathroom on same floor. Garlic shrimp (6.5 yes half) overcooked…again. Mushroom croquettes (4) were very good. Zarzuela was very skimpy. Meat paella had chorizo, chicken and short ribs; I could find a couple pieces of chicken, no short rib pieces and ample chorizo. No scraping. Not at all tasty and not saffron. Churro and flan were not too sweet…as preferred. Decaf was OK ($3.75 each) . House wine cost $13!!!! Not good, not worth it. Not friendly. Not going again. A paella bar that makes mediocre paella doesn’t cut it.

I've been in new York city so many times and this particular tapas restaurant is one of my favorites. The dark rice paella is one of their best dishes. The stuffed dates with blue cheese and wrap with bacon and roasted apple sauce, the red sangria, the pork belly are just perfect to the palate. The staff is very friendly.

We came across this establishment in 2015 when visiting NY so thought we would return for lunch and it didn't disappoint. We chose a seafood paella that was dense and unctuous with plenty of seafood and the rice was perfectly al dente. This was washed down with a great Mahon beer. Staff are super friendly and the restaurant has a great vibe - what's there not to like!
Delicious food With top notch service
The servers were very helpful with the menu, speedy and friendly! I highly suggest the gambas...perfect served with bread. I loved the white wine sangria!
