Solid late night spot

By Breezy G |

Came here after going out with a friend and the food hit the spot. servers were friendly and the food came out quickly

Staff Arrogant and Rude

By Happiness17876318014 |

Although the food was fantastic, the staff was arrogant and rude. Unfortunately, they did not seem to want us there. Our group was polite and respectful - no one loud or drunk or anything like that. As we were leaving, one of us asked for a coke to go and was charged $5 more. When she tried to just leave the coke since she didn’t know there would be a fee for it, she was told it had already been served and she must pay. Grest good but will not return.

Unfortunately, ultimately disappointing

By VRomeijn |

We passed Sombrero on a daily basis during our last trip to New York, and since we love Mexican food we were very soon planning to visit the restaurant. When we finally did visit the restaurant near the end of our trip, the welcome from the staff was friendly but a bit rushed, and we were sort of just hurriedly pointed towards a seemingly random table. This wasn't really a problem, but it did give a disorganized impression. The tortilla chips with guacamole and salsa which we had as an appetizer were fine, although the presentation left a bit to be desired, since we got the salsa in a plastic cup, but this too obviously wasn't really a problem on its own. We were a little bit taken aback when our main courses arrived literally only a few minutes after we had finished the appetizer. Unfortunately, this was where the real problems started. I ordered the quesadilla, and both the cheese and the meat in it were quite tough and tasteless. The enchiladas which my wife had ordered unfortunately had much of the same problems. To end on a positive note: we did very much like the frozen margarita cocktails, which at least saved our experience at Sombrero from being completely disappointing.

Traditional Mexican at Times Square

By Dave L |

Four of us had dinner here on a Thursday evening about 7:30p. Though service was a bit slow, the quality of the food made up for that. We had fajitas and fish. In particular the fajita vegetables were cooked superbly!

Amazing time!!

By Melissa M |

We were in the city celebrating Three Kings and we were staying near Time Sq. Sombrero was Absolutely AMAZING!! The drinks were AWESOME! Great price and the liquor was on point! Sebastian was our waiter and he was super attentive and made our experience memorable. Special Thanks to the Mgr and Owner who were there during our visit for our shots. This will definitely be a regular spot for us when we are in the city... Have a Great New Year!!

Great Mexican restaurant

By Jessica S |

We loved this restaurant. The service and food were great. Just wish the chips and salsa were free.

Delish

By sewilder |

We needed a place to seat 24 people for a group dinner. Even though the restaurant is small they were able to accommodate us (made the reservation that morning.) The food was fantastic and the service was great. Yummy cocktails also. One thing I learned is that a sketchy looking awning does not mean that the inside of the restaurant is not nice in the food isn't good. I guess you could say don't judge a restaurant by its cover!

BEST FAJITAS!

By raquellozanosuarez |

I visited your restaurant on Saturday with my little daughter - the deco is very nice and also the service, we ordered the chicken fajitas and the pollo was AMAZINGGGG! thank you Luis and your lady colleague for the great service, muchas gracias!

Nice find

By Julie G |

Came across this as we were walking around. Normally check Trip Advisor in advance but didn’t this time & took our chances & pleasantly surprised. House wine was ok, shared a calamari starter which was plenty for two and then both had chicken fajitas & portions were pretty substantial. Tables are packed quite closely together & music was very loud. Service was prompt & friendly.

Delicious and convenient

By BlueShark64 |

If you're looking for an alternative to the three hour pre-show dinner and like Mexican - this might be the place. Close to Times Square this family owned restaurant provides a great meal. Now that the weather is better they have outdoor seating with some delicious sangria.

Very good food

By squirt0626 |

Party of 9, 4 are kids, very friendly staff. Accommodating to everyone. Every thing was fresh and delicious. From the tortillas and salsa to dessert. I shared the bbq pulled pork sliders with my daughter. We both enjoyed them. The rice and beans, yummy. Server got a bit confused over having to do 2 separate checks at 1 table and they should let you know about the added gratuity. I did not see it as I was dealing with 2 kids and my special needs adult son, and tipped her very well on top of the already added tip. But live and learn I will be checking every check, especially in NYC.

Really Good Food, but...

By Alain C |

Despite the mixed reviews, we were looking for something quick and convenient on our last day in NYC before heading back home. I was a little skeptical that in the middle of a beautiful Sunday afternoon, the place was rather empty but we gave it a shot either way. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised with the food. My wife's Guac and Sour Cream were very fresh/homemade. My Bistec Sombrero absolutely hit the spot. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the meal. The service was a little slow/distant despite the place being empty and because I was in a hurry and paid cash, didn't notice that there was a 20% tip already on the bill until after I left (so definitely be cautious of that) Also noticed that they don't offer free refills despite it coming from a machine (not cans/bottles) If I wanted to be critical, there are a lot of reasons why this restaurant isn't for everybody but if you just want a quick and simple meal that tastes really good, this would be a convenient spot to go

Great service, good food. Excellent happy hour!

By John |

I’ve been here over a dozen times for happy hour, food. Food is very good. Slightly limited menu. $5 margaritas during happy hour is a big draw. Staff is excellent, attentive.Deysi is an excellent server!

okay food

By Ginny E |

Other Mexican restaurants in the area were booked. I was able to get a reservation without difficulty. the taco salad with beef was a good side. It was served with balsamic dressing. The beef was thin sliced but tough. Family members got the enchiladas. They each said that the cheese one was better than the ones with meat The restaurant is close to many theaters. We were not impressed with the food. It was just okay

Great SPOT

By jmonson |

We stayed around the corner from this super, enjoyable little spot. They have a great happy hour and they were open Friday night for a nightcap while most restuarants around there were already closed. The bartender was exxcellent. Food was very good too.

Great food.

By Gavin P |

Really handy for theatres and times sq. Friendly and attentive staff. Food is good and arrives quickly. Definitely worth visiting for a meal in NYC.

Average food

By Mely |

Visited for dinner with the family, not much authentic mexican options on the menu. As for drinks margarita jar was not that bad however half a jar of ice would suffice ours was little over 3/4 full of only ice. Coronas come out at $8 !!!!! I was outraged at this price we have had Coronas half the price else where. Food was average, not memorable at all do not recommend the tuna tacos they are flavorless. Rice and beans were nice. The automatic tip for a party of 4 or larger is real and if you are looking to discard this place over a reason this should be it. No one should be forced to pay for a service that was not received, although waitress was attentive to our ordering food she did not refill water glasses at all, they did not have sprite at this establishment so waitress offered a jarritos drink for my son which he did not drink only one sip she did not remove from check, busboys were not engaging and always looked mad. We abided however and payed the "service fee" and thank God we did later we witnessed how they chased a customer across the avenue to make him pay for the fee; this left me speechless.

Great food

By smookToronto |

We were wondering around the neighbourhood and wanted a place with a patio. We ended up here and were not disappointed. We ordered the guacamole which was very tasty and made to order. I had the quesadilla with chicken and my wife the chimichanga. Portions were great and the coronas were nice and cold. Great spot for sure.

Good food!

By Gary L |

Near our hotel and in a nice outdoor plaza. Generous portions. Very fresh ingredients. Tasty. Highly recommend.

Excellent atmosphere

By Carmen E |

Very good atmosphere and attention. To share we ordered guacamole, and then some calamari and shrimp. To drink: margatitas, mojito and caipirinha. All very good. Totally recommended.

DO NOT COME HERE - WORST EXPERIENCE EVER

By Emily Elizabeth |

READ WHOLE REVIEW: I am posting this on as many food review sites as I can because of how bad it was. Horrible service and horrible food!!! I’d give it 0 stars if that was an option. Food was wet and worst of all, Found BONES in my burrito and the waitress laughed at us and took it back to the cook... They tried bringing back a new plate when we said NO and making us pay for the burrito a second time. When we tried to talk with the waiter they said they aren’t taking it off our bill but would give us a discount - of $5 for a $30 meal.. I ate with 3 other people and ordered no alcohol whatsoever and our meal came to almost $200. So unacceptable. When we were ready to pay they wrote in a tip they expected us to pay (which was $50 extra dollars!!) Because the wait staff and food was so HORRIBLE, we chose to pay NO TIP! We then were CHASED DOWN THE BLOCK by one of the waitresses screaming so violently that “she was calling the police on us because we did not pay a tip...” This is the worst restaurant I have been to in NYC & encourage everyone to pass on how horrible this establishment treats their customers - and hopefully it can get looked into deeper by a higher up authority - maybe even shut down.

Good food

By John M |

Great restaurant just off from Times Square. Felt a little rushed once we arrived to take the order but service was pleasant & the food was great. A busy little restaurant with plenty of customers.

Good Food and Very Quiet in the Afternoon

By Drewcare |

This was a nice place. Quiet and much better than expected. Service was friendly and the food was good. Not too spicy and served hot. Would definitely recommend.

Good food not so good service

By Nora H |

I selected Sombrero's because it was close to my hotel. My food was brought to me in a timely manner. I ordered fajitas and substituted the rice and beans for a salad. When the waiter brought my food, there was no cheese. I requested cheese. The cheese was brought to me after I was almost finish with my meal. When he brought my check, I was charged $4.00 for a bowl of cheese I didn't even get to enjoy. When I meant it to the manager, he asked if I wanted to take it with me. Lol!! This was my first and last time eating there.

Fantastic!

Food out of this world.....i would certainly come again...and again!!!Service fantastic. Would highly recommend!!!!

Inedible food, compulsory service charge €120 for 3

By SJ |

We walked past a few times and it always looked quite busy so we decided to pop in for dinner (despite reading the reviews!) What a mistake. The tacos were bland and had a bone in, the chicken tenders were so hard and chewy they were totally inedible. I pointed out the bone when my plate was collected and there wasn’t even an apology. It was obvious there was something wrong with the Chicken tenders as they were untouched. The bill came €120 for 2 adult main, 1 child and 5 drinks! I decided I didn’t want to pay service due to the dire meal and put €100 down and I was told the service charge was a policy and it could not be removed. Instead €5 was knocked off the bill. All in all we left frustrated, hungry and over a hundred dollars poorer.

GO FOR IT BABY

By Alexa F |

Y’all, when I tell you they are quick! Came in, sat down, within 15 mins we had our drinks, apps, and entrees. Waters stayed refilled the entire time. Food was good. Super cute atmosphere, servers are polite and ON IT! 10/10!

Went here twice.

By 327fluff |

We enjoyed this restaurant so much we went back the next night. We were staying at the Civilian hotel almost next door for 4 nights. The food was lovely, especially the taco bowl. The staff were very friendly and so fast bringing the food out. Only 2 things let it down, the noise level and the light. I used my phone torch to read the menu.

Awesome place

By Pauline M |

We were looking for a place to eat and found this cute Mexican restaurant near our hotel. The place looks very good and the people working there are sooo nice too. The food was excellent ! We had clearly enough to eat for the price. We had such a wonderful time that we had promised to go back and we did. I would highly recommend this place if you want to eat specialty’s from Mexico!

Daniel!

By Jeannie |

Daniel is the best server and the food is great. We sit outside and enjoyed people watching. Good prices on the food.

Nice dinner at Sombrero restaurant.

By Sylvie V |

Great food ,delicious Margaritas and excellent service. Perfect location for a Mexican dinner before a Broadway show. Thank you Daisy for everything !

Good Mexican neighbourhood dinner!

By 123ij |

Good Mexican neighbourhood dinner...not more, not less. Friendly service in a unpretentious atmosphere. The menu offers the classics you expect. For us the above-average-experience started with the very good quality of the food. Fresh made and wonderful spiced guacamole, great main courses and the frozen margaritas made our dinner!

Happened upon the restaurant by change and we are glad we did

By holidayhoney65 |

We were walking back to our hotel after a busy day of sight seeing and wanted to find a restaurant to stop and eat, we have a vegetarian in our group so sometimes it is hard to find a place that will suit her needs to, she spotted your restaurant so we were good to go. This was more of a pit stop meal as we were all very tired so we didn't have starters or cocktails but I would imagine it is a very nice place to do this and make more of a night of it. The food portions were HUGE and our waitress was kind enough to say we had perhaps ordered a bit to much and so cut back on some things, we were so glad she did. Normally I would take some piccies of the food but we were do hungry we dived in, we had nachos and burritos, it was all really tasty, filling, service was quick and the staff super friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit if you are in NYC

Affordable Mexican Food in NYC!

By L_Lott19 |

My daughter and I were in town for the Thanksgiving Day parade. We had tickets to a show the Wednesday night before and stumbled upon Sombrero for dinner. So happy we did! Service was outstanding, so friendly! Food was great, good sized portions. Drinks were fantastic too! Love the colorful vibe they have going on as well. Really happy we discovered this place!

Great Mexican food

By cmkcmk |

My adult daughter and I stopped here late on a Saturday night, after seeing a Broadway show. We each had a margarita, and shared a plate of nachos and some freshly made guacamole. DELICIOUS FOOD! We were very pleasantly surprised at the delicious guac (I'm not even really a fan, but this changed my mind). The nachos were delicately flavored with no one element overpowering the others. A pleasant surprise! I wish I lived nearby and could return.

This is the must go place in NYC

By rothhistory |

The best restaurant in NYC. The Margarita's will blow your mind the guacamole is the best we have ever had. Visited twice during our 5 day holiday. The staff are great. Thanks for the tequila shots. Will come back again soon.

Good fajitas!

By SPM |

We grabbed dinner here before attending an 8:00 performance. Nice ambience. Nice wait staff. Table by the window and good food at a reasonable price. My wife and I shared chicken fajitas and had plenty for both. We actually asked for a second container of tortillas.

Very friendly, ideal for a drink

By ELLA37 |

Close to our hotel, we have already tested this place in previous years. It's always so nice, the atmosphere is joyful, musical and noisy, the welcome especially from a very dynamic young woman is warm... we went there several times and we tasted the sangrias, the margaritas all accompanied by nachos , guacamole, salsa, quesadilla, empanadas… very good. If you are in the neighborhood, I advise you to take a look. You can also dine there, but we haven't tried it.

Excellent food and great service

By Kemosahbi |

We visited here twice on our NYC stay we loved it so much! Staff were helpful with recommendations and were very attentive to us! Gave us bar prices for drinks without asking which was a bonus! Chipotle Guacamole is to die for!

Do not go there

By Bill R |

Food was awful, expensive and the service wasn’t much better additionally the included a 20% tip in the bill. Don’t go there.

Guacamole was very good

By K.R. Dufour |

The food was good, the service was excellent! The entire staff was extremely kind and accommodating. The guacamole was very good.

Dinner

By golfturist |

An very average restaurant with quite ordinary Food. Expected more for the price. Sombrero burger could have been served in every junkfood store. Chicken with beans. Well when it came to the beans it looked like someone in the Kitchen had stomach trouble. No value for Money.

TexMex ok food

By josy9 |

Large place and few waiters so you need some patience. The food was fine but nothing exceptional. I had their special pollo cantina - chicken breast with rice and vegs and mango tequila sauce. The chicken was overcooked and dry and the sauce was tequila no mango, well ok. Family had mole , tacos and enchilada and all were bland. I think that mine are much better. Location was good , close to the theatres but very expensive for this type of food. Was not impressed.

Very good

By Yvonne O |

God food very nice service have gor real mexican food especially from yoacatan. Met somebody from our first year i playa del carmen

Quick Mexican bite before a show

By AustinEEE |

We had a quick meal here before a show with a party of 11. Staff was friendly and food was good for NY Mexican. We all left happy.

Great Mexican food and drink steps away from Time square here in NYC

Amazing food and real Amazing service. Just what we wanted on a beautiful afternoon as early dinner after watching Puccni’s Taranto at the Met.

Best frozen margaritas ever!

By Benaia D |

Best frozen margaritas ever! I came with my friends and they loved it!!! The homemade guacamole is the best I’ve ever had

Great find on St. Patrick's Day

By Hope K |

My daughter and I were lookjng for a lunch place on the way to our 2 p.m. matinee on 50th St. It was St. Patrick's Day and pubs and restaurants were jammed. We walked a block west on 48th and found Sombrero. We knew it wouldn't be busy and had a nice, but expensive, lunch. The grilled vegetable quesadilla had caramelized onions ($20) and the presentation was lovely. My daughter had red snapper tacos ($23). Both came with a huge side plate of black beans, not refried, and rice. Neither of us could finish our meals. Service was efficient but the food is overpriced, even for NY.

Great food!

By kathy825 |

My husband and I attended Times Square church (which was amazing), and wanted to eat lunch close by. We chose this restaurant and went in reluctantly because it was hard to find the entrance. It had an unlocked ‘lock’ on the front door and no signs of the restaurant being open. I’m glad we stayed because the food was great. We ordered (and split) a $29.00 deal that came with an appetizer, main course and dessert. We ordered a chicken/vegetable soup, the beef fajitas and the flan for dessert. All three were excellent. I highly recommend this place. *Soda refills are not free*

Great Burgers

By Peter M |

You may not expect it at a Mexican restaurant, but the burgers at this place were great. Brilliant flavour, well cooked and with amazing toppings. Make sure you try the guacamole and the fajitas as both are awesome. A bit slow in getting served, but the food makes up for it!

Great Mexican food for a reasonable price

By 853sandym |

We love authentic Mexican food and this restaurant has it! We had a great meal in a very friendly comfortable atmosphere! Highly recommend!

Excellent food and friendly service

By Sarah S |

We visited here at the end of a busy day. We didn't want burgers or diner food so this was an amazing find! When I saw the Taco bowl on the menu, there was no doubt that this was the restaurant for us. There was a good choice available on the menu and service was fast, attentive and friendly, as we have become accustomed to in New York! The food was delicious and ticked all of the boxes that I was looking for and it was reasonably priced. We would certainly return here if we were in the City again.

Very good mexican food 🤠🇲🇽

By AdvisingTripperNYC |

I ordered the chicken burrito and it was very good. The rice and black beans came on the size and it very filling. The red sauce on top of the burrito had a very small kick, not too much. My friend ordered the King Salmon (he was very happy with his order) and his food looked amazing. We split a quesadilla as an appetizer it had lettuce and sour cream on top, we were pleased. Pat the owner was very friendly and his staff was wonderful. They were very professional and courteous. If youre around hells kitchen in the times square area and craving mexican food, this is your spot. They have outdoor seating if youre interested in that.

We Came Back Twice!

By ShazaamIam |

Upon discovering our go-to Mexican restaurant had closed, we set about searching for a replacement. To our delight, we discovered Sombrero. And enjoyed it so much, we went back again before our trip ended!

Great food greater service

By Peter S |

Food was fantastic, Margaritas were excellent, and the service is great. Family owned and operated, great place to eat. Highly recommended.

Margaritas, chips and guacamole

By Tom P |

My wife and stopped by for some margaritas, guacamole and chips so we could people watch outside. Kevin our server was great and provided wonderful service.

Excellent Mexican food in NYC

By James B |

Great food, great drinks and very friendly staff! Happened to be walking by and saw the outdoor parklet. Enjoyed their margaritas and delicious food. Inside building was fun as well.

Delicious

By Carol C |

One of our favorite meals in NYC. We ate a late lunch so we opted for appetizers here. Guacamole was delish, as was the spicy salsa. We also had the queso fundido with chorizo, at the recommendation of the bartender. 5.00 margaritas and sangria. Loved our chat with the bartender. It was a very slow night, and she was lovely to talk to. We talked about that meal all week.

Ripping off tourists - avoid

By Stuart B |

Staying just down the street at The Belvedere hotel and fancying some Mexican food, this restaurant made perfect sense. But let's cut to the chase here. For whatever reason, whether the restaurant does it to everyone or just spotted we weren't American and hoped we were ignorant, after the meal we had a 20% gratuity fee added to our bill which was mandatory. Now forgive me if I'm wrong but I thought a tip and it's amount is mine to decide based on the service not for the establishment to decide what they're worth? And I am sorry to say that the only reason I can think of for this Tip Tax is that the staff were fed up of only getting what people thought they deserved and elected to introduce a Tariff instead. I did complain about this Mandatory Tip but was informed by the less than polite staff member that upon entering the restaurant I agreed to this 20% tip. Nowhere in the restaurant does it mention this which again makes me feel like we were being taken advantage of for being foreign. If the service had merited 20% I'd have offered it. As it was limited at best, I felt the 15% I offered was more than generous. Also, if the food had been anything special I'd have been less put out by being forced to pay something I didn't want to. Unfortunately the food was average and overpriced, served in dull, run down surroundings. New York has myriad fantastic restaurants with delicious food, fabulous surroundings and 1st class service. Sombreros is absolutely NOT one of them. So, enjoy your hunt for a great dining experience in a great city knowing you can scratch Sombreros off your list of places to try. AVOID.

Decent Mexican meal

By HCM |

Good food, generous portions and decent prices. The kids had virgin mojitos, the wife had a few glasses of the house red wine and I had a Corona. Ok dinner

Pre- theatre dinner

By Karen F |

We visited for an early dinner before going to the theatre. We sat outside on a lovely evening and ordered a jug of Sangria. Our glasses were regularly filled by passing waiting staff as well as our water. We only ordered a main course and were glad we had as the portions were large. We both had quesadillas, the pulled pork and the vegetable ones and we both thoroughly enjoyed them. Would visit again if in New York.

Just average

By x J |

The frozen margaritas are fine for happy hour. However, the food is overpriced and not the best quality. Bjyst walk to 9th and there are soooo many better Mexican restaurants!

Nice staff and good food

By dlhsandiego |

I've eaten here a few times when visiting my son. The portions can fill him up and who doesn't like a happy hour margarita? Really delicious guacamole, fresh and tasty with their crispy chips

Great food

By Owl96 |

The food here was great and this place has a nice atmosphere. Can’t fault the happy hour margaritas either! Thank you to the whole team who were very attentive and friendly!

Nice staff . Very attentive.

By Aaron L |

Food was good. Nothing out of this world but good portions and nothing was bad. Good happy hour, staff was very attentive always making sure we had water. Solid spot

Average at best

By crnd |

Our experience was very average. The food was typical to what you'd find at a suburban mexican restaurant, but overpriced even by Manhattan standards. What would be free chips and salsa anywhere else in the world, was an $8 add on here. Seating was cramped. Service was friendly, although pretty slow. While not awful, there are literally a million better options in this area of Manhattan. We definitely wouldn't go again.

If you want a piece of Mexico in NY, go there!

By andrea m |

Exceptional both food and cocktails. Staff very helpful. Best margarita I've ever had. Very good , I will miss you 😍

Good food and price.. a must try

By Eileen D |

Really good fresh homemade food. Sangria wonderful. Pleasant surprise. We will go back to New York City and acid to this restaurant. Staff super friendly.

Nice meal.

By Karrempje |

Varied menu card. Nicely decorated. Maybe a bit dark because many people read the menu with the light of their phone. Service is fast and alert. Great meal. Toilets are school.

Delicious

By NikhilMenon |

Great food, great music, and the cocktails are enormous!!! small and cozy, but very clean. Very helpful staff. Loved it!!!!

Have the guacamole and margaritas!

By tvmommy |

This restaurant was very close to our hotel (Belvedere) but we chose to eat and have drinks here often because of the service and food. We loved the fresh guacamole and ate it several times over the week. On weeknights they have $5 margaritas and many flavours. They are so good! The staff were friendly and went out of their way to serve us.

Go for a drink

By x J |

Met with a friend to get a quick bite. I'd recommend the frozen margarita to start, plenty of flavor options.

Very good

By Keira Mason |

Our server, kevin, was very professional and friendly. The margaritas were very good as worthy soft tacos and homemade guacamole. Casual ambiance right near the theater district. Very good Mexican food. Would definitely return here again, as a go to place for the theater district.

Good food- Reasonable prices

By Yvonne C |

Stopped here for dinner and had the Pork Burrito and Queso Fundido. Both were very good and as was the service. This restaurant has indoor dining next to big open patio doors and we really enjoyed sitting there, since it was a beautiful evening. A good choice for Mexican food.

Nice Happy Hour

By BJ562016 |

Not A Big Restaurant But Service And Staff Very Good. Guacamole Is Very Good, A Must Try But Is A Little Expensive. There Is Outside Seating Weather Permitting. The Food Is Very Good.

Quiet, romantic, tasty

By Ken L |

My wife and I had a nice dinner. It was uncrowded. The atmosphere is cozy and dimly lit. The sangria was delicious, and the food was great and all-too plentiful. The Enchiladas were excellent.

Good quesadillas

By Dafne L |

I've been twice, 1 year apart. The first time I loved the quesadillas and the second they improved the dish (the presentation).

Ok place if you're heading out to a show

By LuvDaSun222 |

The food here is ok - nothing special. Get the guac - pretty good. The service was good. Margarita's were not good - skip that one. They got us in and out pretty quick. Prices were not too bad for the city.

My first Mexican restuarant

By Dennls J |

The Sombrero was in the same street 48th,as our hotel so having not been in a mexican before decided to give it a try,got a little confused with the menu (as you do)but the waitress came over and explained everything, food was fantastic price was very good atmosphere great, finished with a large cocktail with a bottle of corona tipped upside down in it very novel.all in all 9/10

Delish!

By chattyc712 |

This was our second visit. Exceptionally friendly service, great cocktails and delicious Mexican food. This place is a little undiscovered gem in the heart of the Theatre District. we’ll be back!

Great authentic Mexican food at great prices

By Sbromell |

Terrific tacos, burritos so big you can share it. We also got guacamole without the lime juice, and it tasted straight outta the border of Mexico (where I’m from). Servers are attentive and drinks are reasonable. You’ll love it!

Decent food, lacking service, auto tip for party of 2

By ScubaKimmy |

The best part of this place was the closeness to our hotel. The second best was the food. Not the best or worst Mexican I have ever had. Portions were large and some of it was very flavoured, some was very bland. The service was slow and I couldn’t tel you who my actual server was as I had to ask a passer by sever for what I wanted as the same person never returned to our table. Worst part of this place was they added a 12.50 tip onto a $70.00 bill. While this is only a 18% tip it was not a 18% tip kind of meal or service. I understand for larger groups of 8 and over adding a tip is customary. There was only 2 of us. No where on the menu or in restaurant does it state the gratitude it automatically added. I would not recommend this place to anyone. There is a great pizza place next to it that everyone is raving about.

Very good

By ToddandTracy1 |

Pleasantly surprised. The food and service were both very good. I would go back if staying in the area again.

Friendly Staff

By retrogirl |

We first stopped in because it was a few doors down from our hotel and we fancied a drink before turning in for the night. It turned out to be "happy hour" which was all the time apparently as long as you had your drinks at the bar. We usually ended up here for a nightcap every night but one and we so wished we hadn't tried another bar around the corner ( it was more $$$ and loud and not our style, unlike this place ). Their homemade Salsa was excellent and spicy without being too hot. The warmed tortilla chips for dipping were wonderful, and they gave us more Salsa without charging us when we ran out. One night we came for dinner and it was very good as well. I didn't care for the one dish we ordered , there was nothing wrong with it and my husband loved it, and they were right there suggesting something different, which I ended up liking better. I can be very picky when eating meat, as I don't like it to be "chewy" and I know that it's just me being fussy , but I am what I am, and they were very understanding. The staff here are very friendly and attentive as well, and were at the table in a flash if it looked like you needed something. It's on a corner only a couple of blocks from T.S. and theatres so that is great for people who have tickets and need to eat and be out quickly. It is a tiny place and also has outdoor seating with big windows that open right up to the sidewalk. I wish we had places like this in my little hometown. So glad we stopped in!

Large appetite required!

Stopped off here for an evening meal in June. Killer drinks kicked off proceedings and then followed up with a sharing plate of nachos (huge!). For main course we had the tortillas and really could have happily shared on plate between the two of us - fantastic tasting. I'd recommend sitting outside (if weather allows) as it was a tad loud inside. Outside location also allows for a nice bit of people watching too!

Awesome Nacho's!

By peytonnovoa |

My family and I came here for a quick easy dinner before going to a show on broadway. We ordered one nachos and one guacamole for the table to share. We were already impressed with the service and the atmosphere that when the food finally came we weren't expecting any less than what we got. It was so good! The chips were homemade and the toppings were fresh and juicy. All in all we had such a great time, we returned the next day and enjoyed it just as much!

decent pre theater choice

By outdoorluvr |

We had a show a few blocks away and did not want the typical irish pub pre theater dinner. This was not crowded and was convenient. They were good with watching time for us and staying on top of service. The food was ok, not great. Guacamole was good, chips were fresh. Shrimp fajitas has good veggies but shrimp was not the freshest. Still decent if you're not too picky.

Quick service

By iloveitalysanjose |

Enjoyed a quick meal before our show and the food was good and service was quick. We had the beef and chicken fajitas and the plate was large and more than enough for one person.

Great margaritas

By sherri524 |

got the veggie quesadilla and the shrimp fajita, with a couple super sombrero margaritas. Pretty good, great price. Service not the best, but okay

Kevin did is magic !

Excellent rapid service prior to a theatre show. Delicious food. Friendly staff. Fair price. Clean.

Not impressed

By Mia S |

Visited today with my family and I was not pleased. We ordered chicken tacos, chicken burrito and chicken fajitas, the burrito and the fajitas was fin but the chicken taco was so dry I could hardly swallow it. The music was playing so loud that it wasimpossible to have a conversation or to communicate with staff. I wouldn’t come back

Nice meal, reasonable price

By Aillinn O |

We enjoyed a meal here one evening recently, the food was good and found the portions to be really large, staff members were attentive but not annoyingly so. I had the vegetarian fajitas and my husband had a burrito with a side of guacamole - lovely food. Only slight downside was there was a gap in the screen beside us meaning a constant draught came in and annoying. The toilets were clean and well presented - I was a little put off by the notice about 'what to do when someone is choking' and some other first aid related signs that seemed out of place and not really ideal to be looking at whilst dining. The location is very handy to everything and there seemed to be a good selection on the menu.

Great Mexican in NYC

By S.B |

Great food , probably the best we ate whilst on a week break to NYC. Good service big portions and really tasty. Made a great evening in a good atmosphere . Manager checked all was good with food . Enjoyed the visit

FABULOUS ❤️

By Mia G |

Friendly local and friendly staff great food. After the first evening we returned every day after even just for an aperitif Memorable cocktails, the best Margarita ever drunk and space sunrise tequila! Highly recommended for me the best restaurant I've been to in New York I hope they open in Rome ❤️

Great little find

By Mcjkwilson |

Came here as a group of 6 (4 adults 2 kids). Food was great and very tasty. Margaritas were fab, highly recommended.

Good Mexican

By Marc F |

The tacos and Mojito were great. My only complaint would be the price which I think is just because of the location.

Lovely Mexican

By Paul Alcock |

Really wanted to have something other than burgers and fries. Found this lovely little restaurant, as soon as we entered really welcomed by the staff. The food was amazing, especially the guacamole. I would highly recommend this place

Disappointment

By Kimmo H |

Poor service, food doesn’t taste like a Mexican food and price was way too high compared to quality.

Please, don’t go there

By Knyhor |

Horrible place. We waited such a long time and we didn’t finished our dishes. So expensive for so bad quality of food and service.

Great location, friendly staff

By F13fan |

We had a pre-theater dinner, and the staff were helpful. Food was served quickly, but not rushed. Empanadas for an appetizer, and the entrees were hot and tasty.

Excellent Food But Tipping Should Be Up To The Diner

By BaggieMark1964 |

This rather drab looking restaurant was a few yards up the road from the Belvedere Hotel where we were stopping so we decided to give it a go after a long days sight-seeing. It was busy but they found room for 4 of us and the food was excellent. The service was pretty good too with all of the staff being attentive and informative about the food on offer. Like a lot of the reviewers here, I'd rather make up my own mind about the size of the tip as a compulsory 20% is excessive (when 4 people have eaten). Having said that, I can't quibble about the quality of the meal that we had and would have tipped accordingly - I just like to have the choice, that's all. I guess I should have checked the small print before ordering but, hey, who does that every time?

Cozy atmosphere and super friendly staff

By Rodrigo B |

I found the atmosphere very cozy and the entire team was very friendly and lively. Sensational musical environment. Excellently prepared food. In particular, I want to thank the 2 wonderful professionals called Felipe and Beatriz. Congratulations. You are amazing

Great Visit

By Mark G |

We visited in July 2018. The Fajitas and Burritos are very good. The dip for the chips is Very Hot. But Good.

Good food and service

By Kaitlyn M |

My sister and I wanted to eat dinner near our hotel and chose Sombrero since she was interested in getting nachos. We went right after opening so we were the only ones there the whole time so I can’t speak to wait times since we got our food/drinks quickly. The place is so pretty inside and it was fun to take it all in. The food was good as well. We’re picky eaters and the two men working there were very understanding and nice about it! My sister ended up getting the enchiladas and I got a chicken quesadilla, and then they boxed up nachos for us to bring back to the hotel. AND our server remembered that I didn’t like sour cream so he had it set aside on the nachos just in case. Very kind and considerate. It’s a little pricey for portion size but it is also NYC right next to Times Square and Hells Kitchen so I wasn’t too surprised. We will definitely be coming back here.

Generous portions and authentic food

By alexzet |

I have ordered a Fajita salad. It was very fresh and the beef was perfectly served and tasty. My family order other plates and all love it.

Fantastic Mexican food

By bendy37 |

We had dinner here on the last night of our holiday and it was really good. Great portions and the food was delicious. I did try to phone to book a table and also emailed but sadly there was no reply or response. It can get busy, so it would’ve been good to book.

Fantastic.

By Yvonne O |

Absolutely fantastic restaurant with authentic Mexican food. Highly recommended from the heart. Excellent service. Would be great if they had mecixane coffee or mayacoffe

Margarita night

By nedly52 |

Restaurant was not busy when we were there for an early dinner before a show. Food was fine, portions were large. Nothing special but solid, tasty. Margaritas were excellent and my wife had a cosmo she said was good. She doesn’t like here food too spicy but enjoyed steak tacos. My brother had chimichangas and I had enchiladas, both were good. Price not bad for mid town.

I thought it was excellent

By PatrickWarchol |

The menu had very appetizing selections a little pricey but hey that's New york and high quality always comes with a price. Very good food, service and one of the cleanest places I've ever dined. Would go there again.

Please don't waste your money.

By The Punisher |

First night in NY and we saw the Sombrero restaurant about half a block from our hotel. It was hot and we were hungry so why not. They advertise $5 Margaritas Sun-Thur but to our surprise they were only 8oz cups. The same size cups that my children used to drink out of. When they sat us, they sat us in the very back corner of a restaurant that must have been 100 degrees with no a/c. We immediately got up and moved to the front of the restaurant where there was a fan hanging from the wall for some air movement. I ordered the Chimichangas and while they were very small, they were not bad taste wise. However they were served with some sort of Black Beans that were complete mush and some Spanish rice that had no flavor. I decided to order what is known as the fish bowl margarita but quickly changed my mind when I saw the $52 price tag. I know NY is expensive but I pay $11 for the same drink in Charleston, SC. This was the worst experience of our NY trip! An extremely hot restaurant, ok (and over priced) at best food and horrible drink prices. Stay away from Sombrero's Mexican restaurant.I suggest you walk a couple of blocks South to restaurant row and get a good meal for your money.

Best Guacamole

By ChrisBarns68 |

I was looking for a traditional Mexican Restaurant in Nyc and came across Sombrero. It has all the traditional meals that you would expect along with some of its own. The guac is seriously one of the Best I have ever had. I would go there just for that. For dinner we got the fajitas and they were also delicious. The service was good, never really had to ask for anything, it was always there. The place itself isn't to big inside. The only down side I can see about this place is the tables being super close. Thankfully no one was sitting next to us, which let us spread out. But if you're looking for affordable Mexican with really good food this place is perfect.

Not sure if I will return

By flores0403 |

Great location and curb appeal, however, I returned original order of ceviche appetizer at this establishment as it was extremely acidic in nature; I was unable to enjoy any other flavor, seafood, avocado or other ingredients. It was explained "that is how ceviche is" and had to emphasize I wanted it to be removed from the bill.

Disappointing

By Hoborun |

The first problem was that the place was way too dark. We had to use our cell phones just to read the menu. They have a good sized menu but the food was not very good...frozen peas and carrots (you know, the little frozen carrot cubes) in the rice and canned sauces. This seems to be one of those places in the touristy part of NYC that know that their customers probably won't be back again anyhow. Service was pretty good. not much of a wait.

Nice food but watch the tips!

By Paul G |

We went there for an evening meal as we were staying close. The food was lovely and we also got free natchos. Do check the bill though as they add 20%.

Delicious Vegetarian Fajitas!

By Nadine VN |

I'm swiss so I'm not very experienced with mexican food... but these were the best Fajitas I ever got! Friendly and quick service, good drinks and as I said before, super food! My whole Family was happy with going in there spontaniously. Muchas gracias!

Great late night spot!

By beaconhillwine |

Popped in pretty late night after a Broadway show... Staff was super friendly, super accommodating--food was awesome! Spicy wings were on point, nachos were great and love that everything wasn't super salty or overseasoned--tasted really authentic. Got the spicy margarita, delicious. Some of the best Mexican food I've had in a long time.

Good food but pricey!

By michaelbR4813JG |

Food was delicious but $112 for 2 adults and 1 child is a bit much for Mexican! Service was kind of slow considering it was not busy! My daughters order was prepared incorrectly so she had to wait a little longer for her food. Drinks (soda and tea) were $3 and they charged another $3 when they gave us a refill.....that we had to ask for. And now that I've read other reviews I wish I had paid more attention to the bill and tip that may have already been added on??

Greatest little Mexican restaurant in New York City. Just loved it ❤️

By Tanja B |

My daughter and I celebrated Christmas Eve at the Sombrero and loved the food and the atmosphere right away. The people working at the Sombrero always found us a table, even when we didn't book one, and for Christmas, they all were dressed up very nicely and with lights and all. The food was amazing, especially the vegetable fajita ... since we love travelling through Mexico, we had a nice reminder of the country and food and the nice people. We went back many times, also when our friends finally arrived as we couldn't get enough of the fajitas and the Mexican vibes. Can't wait to go back to NYC and the Sombrero. Thanks so much to you all working at the Sombrero for an amazing time 😊

We were just walking by when we came acrose this place. Staff very helpful and friendly. Service good and fast. Prices resonable. Do not judge this place from the way it looks

Great Mexican

Great place to find among the hoardes of fast food chains. Would recommend for anyone who finds themselves along 8th Ave with hoardes of people - great place to recharge

Perfect

By Dbo911 |

We arrived early by ny standards. Undivided attention to detail. Food was plentiful and delicious. Music was authentic. Wonderful experience.

Prix Fixe Menu is wonderful!

By Jean K |

This bustling restaurant in the theater district has been a favorite of mine for a decade. The food is authentic, the drinks are lovely and the wine list is appealing. For $29 prix fixe, I had a bowl of black bean chorizo soup, chicken cutlets in a pineapple sauce (sorry I don't remember the menu name) with yellow rice and beans. Yes, lots of beans and no after effects. The flan for dessert was light and creamy. For pre- or post-show, this restaurant is wonderful!

Good service and food

By Christina O |

Cute little Mexican restaurant right off Times Square near Belvedere hotel. Stopped in for a quick bite after our flight! Food was good not great. I had the steak quesadillas, steak was cooked perfectly. Husband had the chicken burrito he enjoyed it. Not our favorite rice and beans but we would eat here again. All the wait staff were very friendly and awesome! Pretty good portions for price. Margarita was delicious.

Good food and service

By Jason S |

The food was good and the service was good as well. The prices seemed a little high. A beef quesadilla was $23 and a burrito was $19. Both of those items were good but nothing that knocked you out of your seat. Overall the food was good but priced a little high for what you get.

Good reataurant

By nsimunovic |

Cure restaurant with delicious food, good beer and nice atmosphere. Had have a lunch there and I can recommend to everyone

Good Margaritas!

By Colleen W |

This restaurant was just a few doors down from our hotel. We had drinks there after a long day of sightseeing. The waitress was friendly & the food good. It's not to expensive either. Worth a stop!

Traditional Mexican

By Thomas V |

They serve us traditional Tex-Mex food here and it's good. Very popular spot, reasonable prices, good Sangria punch.

Surprise Find

By AdventureMonger |

Didn’t know where to go and ended up here and so glad we did. Our waitress was great and made us feel very much like family and very much at home. We’d go back in a heart beat.

Great food and great value

By Reeso10 |

Fantastic meal and excellent value. Stayed at The Civilian hotel next door and gave Sombrero a go. Lovely welcome and attentive staff. Drinks cheaper than hotel and the food was excellent. I had the Fajitas and they were quality. Highly recommended place to eat near Time Square 👍

Great, nice service

By danibrig |

We came here for drinks for Cinco de Mayo. Very nice and fun service. The drinks were great, prices similar to others in the area. It was certainly quite crowded but that was likely just because of the day. Can't say anything about the food as we didn't order any.

Food was good service was quick

By 51lauries |

The food we has was good and the service was quick and friendly. Prices are a little high for the quality.

Mexican restaurant to recommend

By Denzel |

In the corner of 8AV and 48 street located. Cosy atmosphere, really friendly staff and last but not least delicious food.

Pleasant discovery

By Laurence S |

Friendly atmosphere Varied menu and good value for money We ate well, tasty dishes and nice portions

Tasty food, generous portions

By SisPerth |

We chose Sombrero mainly because it was in a convenient spot for an early dinner before our Broadway show, and we were well pleased with the food. Guacamole was great, with perfectly ripe avocados mashed to a good, chunky consistency and well flavoured; we opted for the spicy version and it was just right. The Man of the House said his beef quesadilla was delicious and I loved my pulled pork tacos - supremely tender and tasty. Serving sizes were generous. The sangria was a bit of a let down - I suspect it was a pre-mix; it wasn't awful but it wasn't great either. Prices were reasonable and service was ok, though the ambience is average.

Overpriced and demanding of a tip

By Ross M |

Close to hotel, food was OK. When bill arrived, 18 percent tip added as if we had no choice. Tipping in America is out of control, especially where bigger amounts of money are involved. What happened to 10 percent? Perhaps wait staff need to form a union. Anyway, we paid cash with a tip of several dollars, not the $17 plus demanded. A waiter chased us, across 8th Avenue, like we're thieves. He was told a tip is discretionary, and he then tried to argue well how about 10 percent. Should have taken back $5. Whenever we return to NYC, may well have gone back, but after this, no way. Greedy. I recommend you go elsewhere, we won't be back. Tipping and demanding tips is out of control.

Good Mexican

By 6_Speed_Automatic |

Large portions. Fajita was piping hot, plenty of chicken and onions. Service was attentive, prices reasonable for NYC. Prefer to dine inside, but has street side dining protected from the elements. Down the block from the Belvedere Hotel.

Good Place But Small Portions

By adam r |

Very good food especially the guacamole! The dinner portions were very small for what they are charging. They are a little pricey so iw as expecting a decent portion but they were actually small portions.

Always a GOOD time!

By Lluvizna T |

Me and my boyfriend have gone there more than three times now and never had a single complaint. Always good service, good food, drinks and vibes! The waiters are always so nice and make sure your cup of water is refilled! Definitely one of our favorite spots. Love you guys!

Excellent Food, Drinks and Service!

By Ron M |

Four of us walked into Sombrero at 5:00 on a Thursday, and had no trouble getting a table. A friendly server brought us water, chips and salsa. We ordered a pitcher of margaritas, and another server prepared it at the table. A sign on the table said that if you make a Tik Tok video about your meal, you can get 20% off the check. One of my friends filmed the margarita making, set it to the song "Tequila" and sent it to Tik Tok. The server and the manager loved it, and we loved the drinks. We ordered guacamole for the table, and it was very fresh and tasty. I got the shrimp tacos, and my husband had the chicken tacos. They were generously filled and were delicious. The side bowl of beans and rice were also very good. It's too bad that we were too full to try a dessert. We were out in plenty of time to walk to our show a few blocks away.

Food was good but prices were HIGH!!

By VaAlleyCat |

We stopped in for dinner on a Friday night in August and got a table right away. Service was a touch slow. The food was expensive but good. The gratuity is added to the bill, so be sure to check that you don't tip twice. I had the chili rellenos, which were tasty, with a side of refried black beans (yum) and rice (yuck). Hubby had a chicken dish with the same sides. We also each had a margarita. Total bill - $100....!!!

Just about average. Avoid the Margaritas.

By CannockSunSeeker |

Visited Sombrero before a theatre show. Although I enjoyed the shrimp fajitas I was not particularly impressed. The restaurant has a utilitarian feel about it with uncovered tables closely packed together. The most disturbing thing I discovered was that the proprietor, who was entertaining friends at an adjacent table, was boasting to his friends that the Margaritas that he served to his customers were made using "knock-off" alcohol. He seemed quite pleased with himself when making this admission with no regard to the fact that he was only a few feet from us and could be clearly overheard.

We enjoyed our visit !!

By Endrik N |

We just had an amazing time with my friends, we loved the whole team, 100% recommended. If you guys are looking for a great spot for food, good ambience, and to notch service this is the place 👏

Good but pricey fo rMexican

By english226 |

The food was good - nicely presented and tasty. Good size portions which are always too much for me, but I thought it was a bit pricey for Mexican food - even in the city.

Okay Mexican food

By Crisi C |

Average Mexican food. Nothing spectacular to write home about but it wasn't bad. We sat outside in their heated street dining area and being the only party out there, the service was very attentive. Based off the food we won't be back but if you are starving and in the area it was okay.

Great service, excellent food and drinks!

By Rodrigo P |

Congrats to the excellent service, specially from Felipe and Kevin. Thank you and see you next time!

Excellent

By John M |

We had a great time here the food was excellent and very fairly priced! Drinks menu is pretty cool and we had excellent service from Gérard!

Skip this place.

By Sheri D |

Second time, trying to be fair. They put a 20% tip on the bill, which explains the lackadaisical attitude towards service. We ordered drinks and appetizers; server was surly as he removed our napkins and silverware. I had to ask for small plates for the appetizers. No wonder they include the tip; no one would voluntarily reward that service. Food is meh.

The BEST Guacamole Ever!!

By happywithme99 |

Visited this restaurant this weekend and had a great experience. From the minute you walk in the door you are greeted by friendly staff. We ordered the guacamole which was the BEST guacamole we have ever had. It was fresh and the chips were perfect compliment to the guacamole. We had the chicken and beef tacos and again were not disappointed. The owner came by to check on everything and was obviously proud of his establishment and it certainly shows. The drinks were also great and the bartender and waiter were friendly and accommodating. This Mexican restaurant is a must if your in NYC!!!

Decent, but not great

By Justin W |

I read a handful of the reviews and they are all pretty accurate. But most people either give 5 stars or 1 star. Here’s the deal- Yes, the food is good. No, it’s not “authentic” Mexican, what do you expect? Chances are if you’re perturbed by their level of authenticity, you likely don’t even know what real Mexican food tastes like. Yes, it is expensive, also to be expected. Yes, they are misleading about their pricing/specials. They have a sign out front that says “Happy Hour - All Day”. When I ordered my drink, he said okay. I asked him if he could confirm it was happy hour pricing. He said yes, then no, then only at the bar, and concluded with, sorry no happy hour pricing on Friday. Talk about confusing. Yes, they take it upon themselves to add gratuity. Who cares. What they added is less than what I normally tip. So they cut themselves short. If you can’t afford to tip, don’t eat at restaurants. The service was decent. Started off bad. We weren’t greeted and had to seat ourselves. It then took a while before a waiter came over to take our order. But after that, things went smooth. The food wasn’t anything to write home about, but it was good. Would I go back? Probably, but it’s not a must stop place

Good food terrible service

By Gina P |

My sister and I ate here during our NYC vacation. The food was fine, but the service was terrible. We had to ask for our diet Cokes three times, they didn't fill our water glasses even once, and we had to find someone to get us our ticket. It was about 4 PM, so they were not that busy, and they had plenty of staff standing around. The food wasn't good food enough to make up for the poor service. We won't go there again.

Mexican hospitality

By Kim Cook |

Visited this restaurant once in 2016 and had to return again this year. in fact my sister and I went twice. The food is amazing, the staff are cheerful and attentive. Their Long Island Ice Tea cocktail is to die for........ The food is amazing, hot and spicy. highly recommend.

It's always a good time for Guacamole!

By Petsitter4U |

On a busy Saturday night, just before Christmas and surviving the mobs of people at 30 Rock & Saks 5th Avenue light show...we managed to cross to the west and found Sombrero. For a last minute bite...the homemade guacamole was fresh and hit the spot with the chips and Empanada's. The black bean soup was also a good choice for a chilly night. Service was good considering it was a Saturday night. Next time I am in NYC....I'll come back for the Burrito's!

Poor service

By Daisydaresyou |

The food here was very nice but we had to wait ages for it and the service was poor. We would not eat here again and would not recommend it to anyone else.

High prices, poor service

By Scenic702089 |

Our group was in the mood for Mexican after a day of sightseeing. This restaurant was an easy walk from the theater district. No complimentary chips and salsa and sodas were overpriced and had to be retrieved from a bartender. Hence no drink refills after we finally got a drink. To make matters worse, a waiter drop a tray of drinks etc. on me from behind. My legs and feet got a bath. No apology. Mopped the back of my feet. No apology. After another waiter slipped and fell on his knees right beside me, they put a mat down over the wet floor. We had to beg for check. This was not worth the typical Mexican fare.

Late night eats

By gillk65 |

Came after show around 11pm. Welcomed in. Enjoyed complementary chips and salsa while waiting on our mains Chimichanga was lovely and. Veggie quesadilla went down well with my daughter. Not cheap, but nowhere in NYC is.

Many many options for tasty mexican food in broadway... you can skip this one

By bobrusa |

The ambience was cramped and the restaurant was noisy!! The guacamole was a bit bland and the enchiladas were quite good, though...I suppose people visit the place because the margaritas were $5, but if you're not a drinker, then this place may not offer you much.

Very good quesedias and fachitas

By KwikstaartH |

We had some very good quesedillas and the fachitas were wonderful aswell. We had a bottle of wine for 24 USD,and a pitcher of Margarita (6 glasses) for 30 USD. Very Nice! Friendly waiters.

Great Taco's and Margarita's

This is a great little spot if you are in the mood for Mexican and great margarita's. The table next to us just comes for the drinks, they are so tasty.

Nice to good with familly. I recommend

By ShivasExplorer |

Nice atmosphere and food. Quite affordable given the location. Personnel was particularly friendly (without being invasive)

Authentic but expensive

By conqueror-wyrm |

We stopped by Sombrero after a Broadway show and were pleased to find that it was both conveniently placed on the route to our Times Square hotel, and open until midnight. At 9:30pm, the restaurant was very quite and so service by the friendly staff was quick. We ordered a cheese quesadilla, the chicken tacos and pablo burger and enjoyed all of our meals. The sangria was also lovely and I would certainly recommend. The only issue I really had was the price, as this restaurant was a lot more expensive than some of the other restaurants that we have visited in the area. It's not the cheapest of eateries but food was fresh and tasted authentic. I would certainly recommend
