Easy walk for great wood fired pizza

By Steve S |

Stella is a very easy walk on the river from the center of town. We loved the casual, friendly dining atmosphere. The wine list is not extensive but there are good moderately priced options. The Wild Mushroom pizza was excellent - a great mix of flavors - roasted onions, asiago, parm, mozz, on a wonderful crust. The Fried Apples with ice cream was a great dessert option. The service was very good, with food arriving quickly. Stella offers very good food at a great price.

Wonderful place

By Amykayh |

My daughter and I were looking for a quick lunch-something clean. Not road food or fast food. We will be back to Stella's. What a wonderful find! I love good cheese, and everything was fresh, made in house, and I love that they use local food growers and vendors. We left feeling great. Not hungry, but not bogged down with junk food.

Excellent

By Jonfo1969 |

Great pizza. The pepperoni and pulled pork was very good. We also tried the lamb meatballs. Those were great as well.

Cool atmosphere and great food

By Jason B |

What I loved most about Stella was their commitment to locally sourced products. When your ingredients are better, your food is better and Stella seems to embrace this! We stopped here after work one night and found that it's a great place to unwind due to its great atmosphere, patio, and laid back environment. It's sophisticated without the ostentatiousness. It's still a relatively new place, so they'll have some growing pains but everything I tried makes me want to come back.

Must try

Came after closing with my daughter in a hot SA day by accident staff made an exception got a pepperoni and couple beers for myself damn good pizza

Great pizza and service.

By Jujuart |

Clair was our waitress and she was so sweet. She help my husband select a beer from over 20 on tap. Samples are so helpful. This is a sour dough wood-fired pizza. We selected the homemade sausage with fennel and also had mushrooms added. They were a selection of at least 4 types of mushrooms. Yes all local sourced and house made mozzarella and sausage. Cooked to perfection. I like my crust a little burnt and my husband takes it as it comes. To our amazement (no idea on their part) it was half and half. Great spot worth the Uber ride from the boring food on the river walk.

STELLAAAAAA!!!

By Boricua_Globetrotter |

Awesome hip pizzeria near the heart of San Antonio! Had a great experience during lunch. The pizza was really good, salad was fresh, the service was excellent (Thanks Renee!), huge beer selection and decent prices! Keep it up "Stella Crew"!!!

Doughliscious!

By NFincher |

If your looking for something downtown but don't wanna get off in the mix of Houston, Alamo, St. Mary's St etc., then you should try Stella. The place had a very relaxed, rustic yet modern feel and from the hostess to my server/bar tender, the service was swift, through and genuine. My pizza was delicious, especially with the egg cooked over easy in the middle! The beer and wine selection was great, plenty of craft beers on tap, but if a cocktail is what you want that's not their big thing. All in all, I enjoyed my time and meal at Stella.

Great food AND beer

By goebel |

A real treat after riding bikes and touring missions all day. Great beers on tap, and salads and pizzas prepared with fresh local veggies. Arugula prosciutto pizza was exceptional. Nice wine list too. Glad we ate near our B&B in King William district instead of touristy river walk. Nice price.

Pizza was good, Beer selection was great

By Todd K |

Great spot for craft beer. Woodfired pizza was really good. Atmosphere here is great. It's also in a great spot to spend an evening bar hopping.

Cool place

By Stacey C |

Stella is a pretty cool urban small type of restaurant. They have a pretty good beer selection on tap and in bottles. Ahi tuna bruschetta and Any pizza is must have! Definitely recommend!

Good brunch choice

By mama4llama |

We had planned on brunch next door, but it was too crowded. The waiter suggested go thru the pass thru door into Stella. What great advice. Excellent service start to finish, good prices and good food.

Thoughtful beer selection and farm fresh food

By TodChester |

This was not my first visit to Stella and it will not be my last. Stella is a very focused and consistent restaurant. If it is on their menu, it is incredible. From eclectic pizza and inventive salads to their thoughtfully arranged tap wall, it is a foodie kind of place. A must when in Southtown.

Go for lunch, get the 10 dollar special

By qv09vvp |

I've been to this place twice in the last few weeks - brought by two different co-workers as a treat. Both times the food was out of the park fresh & good. Do give the Macaronii& cheese a try or the Mushroom pizza is equally awesome. The service the first time was pretty poor, but the second time was spot on. For 10 at lunch you get a great salad & a very niced size pizza of your choice. I couldn't finish it all. the only downer at this place has to be the price of the desserts ....over 8 dollars! While great for lunch, I could definitely see this place for a date night. if you find this review helpful, please say so by clicking on the helpful button!

$5 Happy Hour - What a Deal!

By Napunani |

First visit to Stella was to meet two friends for happy hour. A bit difficult to find, but it was well worth the hunt! Claire was our server and she was super friendly and helpful. We had the wild mushroom mac & cheese appetizer...OMG...to die for! The $5 Happy Hour calzone was huge and yummy - more than three of us could eat! Glass of Pinot Noir for $5 that was originally $12 - what a deal! I'll be baaccccccck!!!

Stand Out Stand Tall

By DevinProSea |

Nestled amidst a cluster of other dining establishments, this hidden gem may not catch your eye at first glance, but stumbling upon it was certainly a stroke of luck. Despite my initial lack of expectations, I found myself pleasantly surprised by the inviting ambiance upon entering. Opting to sit at the bar due to limited table availability, I discovered a serene and relaxing atmosphere, perfect for unwinding or even getting some work done. The exemplary service provided by each and every staff member added to the overall positive experience. Their willingness to assist, regardless of the request, left a lasting impression. Upon a recommendation from one of the workers, I decided to indulge in the truffle Mac & cheese alongside a freshly baked pizza. The Mac & cheese arrived promptly, featuring perfectly al dente noodles enveloped in a creamy sauce infused with the delightful aroma of truffle oil. The pizza, emerging hot and fragrant from the brick oven, exceeded expectations with its tantalizing flavors and myriad topping options, allowing for endless customization. Whether dining solo or with company, the experience promises to be memorable. Suitable for both lunch and dinner outings, this establishment offers a culinary adventure that surpasses mere satisfaction. I wholeheartedly recommend it to all, confident that it will exceed even the loftiest of expectations. Cap off your meal with a leisurely stroll by the nearby river, further enhancing the day's enjoyment.

Salad so Green, You Don't Think It's Real!

By TallyHoHoHo |

Tried this place out and loved it! We split one of their fresh salads. Absolutely the most beautiful salad I've ever seen. (See photo) Tasted delicious. Also split the margherita pizza. Fresh ingredients, tasty crust. If you want quantity over quality, you best try somewhere else. But, if you appreciate fresh, local ingredients made with love, this will become a frequent eatery. Service was over the top attentive and friendly. I had a problem with one of the beers we ordered, but wasn't going to say anything, and the waiter noticed and took care of it with a smile. Well worth a try.

Farm fresh

By mermaidontop |

We came here on a suggestion from a bartender who talked us out of another touristy pizza place. We came in about 4pm for dinner, yes that’s early but we had skipped lunch so we we hungry earlier than usual. They run a HH special M-F 4-6 on small plates and some drinks. We order the lamb meatballs and Mac & Cheese to share. Both delicious. We the ordered a sausage pizza to share between the 3 of us. I wasn’t a fan of the sauce and defiantly not enough cheese for me, but my husband and son liked it. Hey chef! Make a Mac & cheese with Arugula Pizza and no sauce, it’d be the bomb-diggety. Our server, Morgan was very sweet and helpful. I love a restaurant that says whatever is on the menu we can make it happen, as I’m a particular eater. This place claims farm to table and I don’t doubt it, everything was very fresh.

Average and over priced...

By Brxrwn |

Originally planned on going to Barbaro's but they were closed on New Years Eve so Stella was next on our list. Started with a couple of beers on tap, ($7 each), and ordered the lamb meatballs for $12. We thought we'd start with a couple of beers and the meatballs and then order a pizza. Beers were cold enough and tasted fine, (hope so for $7 each), and here comes the meatballs.... There's (4) a little smaller than a ping pong ball in marinara sauce in a 4" skillet with some bread slices. I was shocked that was the $12 order of meatballs, that's $3 per meatball. They were average at best being dry and with little flavor. The price isn't the issue with me it's the value, or in this case, lack there of in my opinion. Two beers and four small dry meatballs came to $35.00 after a $4 dollar tip. That's not remotely a value to me.

Exploring your own back yard.

By linda r |

I enjoyed a great discovery recently and want to share my reactions with you. Stella Public House offered a great hand made pizza and small plate appetizer practically in my own back yard. Not only did I greatly appreciate the friendliness of the bartender who offered tastings of local brews but I enjoyed a wonderful oven fired pizza.I recommend the wild tuna bruschetta small plate as an appetizer. All of this, in a warehouse style restaurant with immense potential for gathering together a group of friends and spending an evening full of laughter and great food. I'll return. Next time, with all my friends!

Pizza was lacking

By clothedingrace |

The drinks were good but the pizza was less than stellar. We got the ahi tuna bruschetta, which was somewhat bland and the bread was way too crunchy. We ordered the spicy sausage pizza, which was ok. I had been told how amazing it is, so it's possible we came on an off day, but I was disappointed. It was definitely spicy and had decent flavor, but there were only 4 or 5 pieces of sausage on the whole thing. The crust was very crispy- almost too much so. Our waiter was very non-attentive, though it was busy. I do think he could have done a better job. I would go back just because people keep telling me how much they love it.

Try It - You'll Love It!

By MrRitmo |

You have to visit if you're at the Blue Star Complex. The pizza is great and their beer selection is pretty serious.

Good appetizers, pretty good pizza.

By Andrea F |

Good place to eat but I think I enjoyed the appetizers more than the pizza. We had the Burrata Board and bread. The Burrata Board was amazing. Then we tried the Quattro Carne, Primavera, and Margherita. The Quattro Carne was the best by far.

Meh

By Carol |

Nice atmosphere and service but it's terribly overpriced and the food isn't great. My husband and I tried the Zucchini Tomatoes Basil Lemon small plate. It was good and I'd recommend it for something light and fresh. We also ordered the Quattro Carne pizza. It was mostly crust, very dry, and didn't have much flavor.

Great pizza

By UH60Blackhawk |

Found this while biking. Nice location. Staff very friendly. Pizza is the thin crust style. I grew up on Long Island and am use to good pizza. This is good pizza. About 20 beers on tap, many more bottles and cans.

Great place to chill

By swatchsatx |

Nice Dinner

By MyTravel3 |

Went to an early dinner with a couple of friends and my 7 year old. It was during the weekday so there was no wait time. The staff was friendly. The ahi tuna bruschetta was very good as was the macaroni and cheese appetizers. We ordered the mushroom pizza as the main course which was good. My only complaint about the pizza was that the crust wasn't crispy enough for me. Overall the restaurant was enjoyable and I would eat there again, if I'm ever back in San Antonio.

Great thin crust pizza

By JMayinPA |

Not quite like Italy, but the thin crust pizzas and beer selection were great. So happy to find Victory Golden Monkey, which is one of my favorite beers to go with pizza, a must try if you're grabbing a pie.

Excellent farm-to-table

By BaylorDave |

The wood fire bread and pizza is worth making the trip out. Nearly all ingredients are from local farmers (with the exception, I believe, of a few seasonal items). Nice atmosphere for a date or small group. Right off of a secluded area of the river walk.

Great atmosphere and wonderful calzones.

By bigjc4 |

My family enjoys lunch and brunch here. The calzones are wonderful during lunch and the brunch we enjoyed a variety of things including Lemon ricotta pancakes and The hashes were tasty. Cranberry drink special was delicious.

Great Pizza, Appetizers, and Beer

By Journeyof_theHeart |

I have visited this location several times, and it gets busier every time, which solidifies the quality and service of this venue. The menu is above average, made with local farm to table ingredients. The beer selection varies from local to other craft brews, and the appetizers are, well, exceptional. One could make an entire meal just on the meatballs and macaroni and cheese if he or she wished. Very lively, yet trendy area making this a great place for the hipster, families, as well as the average diner looking for something other than the ordinary. The River walk is still quiet in this area, as is the neighborhood. A very enjoyable experience that any patron should have the pleasure to enjoy.

Best pizza ever!

By Teresa V |

Try the pepperoni or the chicken with pesto! Both fantastic! Crust was just a tad burnt but the flavor of the crust was amazing! Toppings were organic, freshly grown and super fresh. Highly recommend!

Stellar Experience at Stella!

By Linda P |

Absolutely fabulous! Went in for a drink and watched as mozzarella was hand-made. Was impressed to see the staff hand chop the parsley, garlic, and other fresh food items. Had to come back the next day for lunch and was not disappointed. Tried 3 different pizzas, all of which were delicious. The salad was fresh, crunchy, and the dressing - yummy! Wish there was a location in my town. Thanks for a memorable meal!

Great food and drinks

By kafuiadjabeng |

Went to happy hour with coworkers here. Food was great. There was a variety of beer, wine and other drinks. Service was very good and the servers were very nice and friendly. Will go back again.

Best Mac N Cheese w Mushrooms

By rose_valero |

If you go here try the Mac n cheese with mushrooms! It's the best! Absolutely love it! Their Cobb salad was delicious as well. The staff friendliness was awesome. This place is very welcoming. Go during happy hour hour for better prices on appetizers. Great selection on beer!!

Great beer, better pizza, great vibe

By Justarandomdude |

Stella was perfect. Comfortable atmosphere, amazing beer selection, and service was attentive and entertaining. See you again soon!

Good food!

By Kim D |

Neat place hidden up at the Blue Star Art Complex. This place has a European look to it with it's industrial high ceilings and lighting. Pizza is from a wood burning oven which makes for a good taste. Toppings are from classics to gourmet....really good! Appetizers are interestingly tasty. A must try is the Brussels sprouts and Mac & cheese....nommers!! Great craft beer too. Small place but quaint with a little area for outdoor seating as well. Recommend!

Stick to the tried and true

By Aunttabby |

First, the pizzas here remain outstanding as is the mac & cheese but on a recent visit some of the newer items on the menu were very disappointing. The mussels were tough, it may have been because they are not served in a broth but open face like oysters but with a tomato topping, very dry and tough. The pistachio cake was hard and unyielding, not cake-like at all, although the cheesecake filling was tasty. The pudding cup, was very good but it had about 1/2 inch of pudding with 2 inches of whipped cream on top, odd proportions. Stella is still worth a visit as they shine on the more usual things that they have been serving for years, it is just some of the newer items that need some work.

Hidden Gem in the Blue Star area!

By Alicia C |

Great food made with locally grown products! You must have the small plates--macaroni and cheese with truffle oil and the lamb meatballs. The in-house bread was excellent, so I took 2 loaves home.

Wow, the food here blew us away

By Michelle S |

Wow, what an unexpected treasure we found when we stepped in to Stella one balmy February evening. We were greeted warmly immediately, and the great service continued right throughout our visit. We were told that as it was not yet 7 o'clock, we could choose from a selection of house wines at $5 a glass, and that the small plates were all also discounted. We chose two small plates - the tuna and lamb options - and two salads - one salmon beet salad and one roast broccoli and tangerine salad. Every dish was absolutely delicious and the salads were especially impressive, and at such reasonable prices too. That was more than enough food for the two of us - but we had noted the little flyer on the table telling us about the award the panna cotta dessert (which comes topped with salted caramel) had received. We decided to share one, and were we ever glad we did. The chef here deserves all the awards in town - what fantastic food he/she is preparing for people like us to enjoy. Well done everyone at Stella.

Stellas...a great public house!

By Sherry M |

Eclectic pizza, appetizer and sandwiches. Very accommodating atmosphere located in a renovated industrial area. Trendy and fun spot to meet with friends or business partners!

A home run again!

By JSR_Adventures |

This place never misses with both the quality of their food and the service that their friendly staff always provides. And anybody that offers fried eggs as a topping for their great pizzas is a winner in my book. They have a impressive beer selection, which rounds off the great score. Now that the construction on Alamo Street is finally completed, access is once again easy and simple. I highly recommend this place!

Great for lunch

By martinkdall |

I have not had the regular sized pizza but the personal pizza and salad for lunch is a good value and really tasty. The Missus had a pepperoni and sausage mix with something else while I opted for the Margherita. Two thumbs up from each party and the salads are made from a variety of fresh greens. We sat at the bar and our server was attentive but not obtrusive. If I had one thing to nag at it would be that they need to keep the red wine in a somewhat cooler place; 65-70 degrees is preferable to 80. We will return again for dinner on our next trip into SA.

Great Pizza!

By Megan B |

Stumbled upon Stella's when we first arrived in San Antonio. Great wood oven pizza. I was with my little cousin who is SUPER picky but she loved the Quattro Pizza. I recommend it as the atmosphere was nice, the staff was friendly and the pizza was yummy!

Lovely lunch

By Monique C |

Two friends and I had a lovely late lunch at Stella's today. We stopped there because my friend can't have dairy or gluten. Stella's offered both, and the pizza was delicious. We ordered the Mr. SouthTown in both varieties, gluten and gluten free. We also ordered the Quattro Carne. All were personal pan that came with a Caesar salad. We would definitely return. Our waiter was excellent.

Cool place

By DeavBBQ |

Neat area in San Antonio, just a short drive from Riverwalk. Great food. The crab salad with fried green tomatoes is brilliant. Pizza very authentic Italian style.

Great food, well cooked, friendly staff

By Watercolorpainter52 |

We had a great time at Stella Public House. I can't believe we never ate there before. It has a dog friendly patio, which is what motivates where we eat. The wood fired oven is cool and the wood fired sea scallops were perfect. The pistachio butter was nicely different and the goat cheese paella was a good addition! Pizza is also good and the draft beer selection was OK. The staff was fun (it was raining), and actually found out "who Stella was"... (no one) Stella is Star.

Must go

By Craig030 |

2nd trip here. Just as good as the first. Good selection of beer. The food (pizza) is different but very good.

Questionable - not really sure how to rate this experience

By Meg S |

We were there today for brunch. I admit I was hungry when I got there, and it turned into hangry with the service. There were surprisingly few people there for 10:30-ish on a Saturday morning, and I think I see why. I ordered a cold-brew iced coffee with milk and sugar. My cold-brew showed up pretty quickly, but no milk or sugar. And the waitress disappeared. Didn't take our order for food, either. I had to ask another waitress for the milk and sugar, and boy, was I surprised when she brought the bottle of milk over and told me to say stop when she had poured enough in. Weird, for a restaurant. She also brought demerara sugar, which does not dissolve well in cold drinks. Then our actual waitress, who until that point was across the restaurant chatting it up with someone while drinking her own iced coffee (with milk, and in a glass rather than the plastic cup with lid that she brought me), looked at me very surprised and said, "Oh yeah, you wanted cream. Just a moment!" To which I replied that her coworker had already taken care of me. My companion was laughing up a storm at me because what I wanted to say was "Oh, honey, bless your heart, you need to get on the stick here. You're losing your tip with your lack of service." Those of you from the Southern US will understand the undertones in that phrase. She finally took our order, and the prosciutto benedict came out very promptly. It was beautifully presented, with avocado, a very little amount of hollandaise drizzled on it (less than a teaspoon over the two poached eggs), delicious prosciutto cooked to two different degrees of doneness (the stuff on top being crisp, and the stuff under the eggs being cooked less, more like ham), fantastically good sourdough baguette standing in for the english muffins, and snapdragons (generally be careful about eating these) and marigolds (calendula) decorating the plate. On the plus side with the food, my companion ordered biscuits on the side (which were not on the menu) and bacon (which was). The waitress asked us if we wanted honey with the biscuits, and when we said yes, drizzled honey over the tops of the biscuits. That was super-weird, because most Southerners want to split the biscuits and slather them with butter, THEN add the honey, not pour it over the top. The biscuits themselves were good - nice layers, rich flavor, baked but not over-baked. The honey on top did not work for us. The bacon was thick-cut, and done exactly as we asked. Fantastic smokey flavor. But this was not all. Imagine our surprise when we look up, and two tables over someone has brought in Chick-Fil-A, and all of the wait staff that we can see at the restaurant sit down and dig in. And fold napkins while they're eating. It's a good thing we had already gotten our food and were halfway through it before we saw this happening. So all-in-all, I'm not really sure how to rate this restaurant. If you go for the food, you will probably be okay if you are VERY specific. If you go for the service, don't bother. And don't mind the staff eating food that comes from somewhere other than the restaurant while they're actually IN the restaurant in sight of the customers.

The kind of place I look for on vacation

By Andrea S |

How lucky I am to find it close to home! We started with the lamb meatballs which were terrific and shared a butternut squash, sausage and goat cheese pizza and still had food left over. I love that we were greeted at the door and told bye when we left by the crew behind the bar. Very homey feel. Their drink menu and happy specials look great though we went for lunch. I am always thrilled to see these types of farm to table restaurants in SA!

Yummy food. Would go back soon!

By Starryskies227 |

The ambiance of this place is a mix of rustic and modern. We started off with the mushroom Mac and cheese which was phenomenal! They should call it crack Mac! Then we had the pepperoni and pulled pork pizza. The toppings were great but the crust was crunchy and bland. That was the only part I was disappointed in. For dessert, my husband had the tiramisu (which he said was just ok) and I had the salted caramel panacotta which was AMAZING! One of the best desserts I've ever eaten. We will definitely be back!

Apps Pizza and Drinks

By Bradley W |

From the small plates Mac and Cheese and Tuna Bruschetta to the pizza, our night at Stella was great. Ernie not only had great beer recommendations but had great insight to the whole city, even taking us next door to tour the sister restaurant, Halcyon. The meal was nicely paced, never rushed, but we were never waiting either. Water is served chilled. Pizza was thin crusted and wood fired with a great crust and flavor. We had the spicy Italian pizza which was nicely complimented by the fresh grated parmesan. A great first meal in the city uniquely positioned for a nice stroll riverside after dinner with lots of bike sharing stations if a ride is more your style.

Happy place

By Simón C |

Happy hour at Stella Public House is the thing to do after a hard day at work. Seat in the bar, enjoy the bear, wine and the small plates. The staff is uber knowledgeable and friendly.

One of my favorite restaurants

By slt1214 |

This is one of my favorite restaurants. I absolutely love the Quattro pizza - their mac and cheese - the Brussel Sprouts... Everything I've had has been excellent and fresh and the service is always great. Go here even more now that I learned they have a $10.00 lunch special during the week with personal pizza and a salad.

Lunch at Stella Public Hiuse

By Michael F |

Its not often I take the time anymore to write a review of a place. Just the time involved. However I stumbled into a great little find. Stellas is simple but delicious. A huge beer menu and not a bad wine list. Two things impressed me. First, the level of service was outstanding. My waiter was personable, accommodating and helpful. We one, I enjoyed the Quattro Carne pizza and it was delicious. Fresh, great flavor with an excellent thin crust that supports the pie but doesn't control it. The sausage had great flavor and the mix of meats really blended well. In addition, I had a chance to sit outside and catch up on some work. My waiter checked on me but wasn't overboard. Just the occasional how ya doing and nothing more. It was actually refreshing I was able to just enjoy the weather, ambiance and a glass of wine. Thank you Stella Public House for such a nice experience.

Great food, cool place but really poor service

By AmyLoverOfSun |

I had hear great things about this place and was really excited to try it. Upon being seated it took about 10 minutes to even see our waiter. That ended up being the norm the rest of the night - 10 to 15 minutes between visits. They have an exhaustive beer list and we wanted to sample a couple but it took so long to get anything we just ordered. The group had pizzas and several small plates which were fabulous! Of course, we were brought good and no silverware so after waiting another 10 minutes we had to go find the server. One person never got their beer and at the end of the night asked the waiter to remove it from the tab and then he asked, "Oh did you still want it?" Ummm, no. About 45 minutes ago we did. No apologies or anything, just poor service. I have been assured by my friends who frequent the place this is NOT the norm and we observed other waiters for the tables around us being much more efficient so hopefully this was a fluke. The food was definitely delicious though!

I hate titles

By Kelly J |

This place is fun, Josh one of the bartenders, knows his craft. The beer was good and the pizza was better. Had the Southtown with a fried eggs on top, was a new experience. Never had egg before on a pizza. Can't say anything bad about it. Fun vibe, nice area, parking was the only problem I had. I highly recommend this place!

This spot is amazing!

By PalmSpringsCA |

Best foodie experience I had in San Antonio while visiting during a conference. O M G! Wow is this place fantastic. Firstly, it has a super vibe with fantastic staff. The guy who was both the bartender and took care of our food orders up at the bar created an amazing, upbeat experience (tall, young black guy with glasses). You an tell he really enjoys engaging with customers, making drinks, talking about the great food options at the resto, etc. The drinks were top-notch and expertly crafted. All the food was super from the mushroom mac and cheese to the caprese salad to the pizza!! The bartender was really nice and got a bowl of the donuts from the connected resto instead of us having to go there for dessert. We were really happy to continue sitting/enjoying where we were. If you are in from out of town, It is a MUST! Leave the yucky Riverwalk and take a short Uber/Lyft ride or take a 15-20 minute walk to Southtown to try Stella and lots of other great places. You will be happy you did!

Good pizza, loud atmosphere

By ags35 |

Ate here on our last night in town based on other reviewers. Arrived around 8:30 and although they were still very busy we got a table right away. Ordered two different pizzas and they were both very good, the mushroom was my favorite! Only complaint was the noise, I don't know if it is the acoustics in the restaurant or what but it was very difficult to hear which put a damper on an otherwise great meal.

So glad we found this place!

By Kim W |

After a miserable stay in a nearby flea bag motel, we were delighted to find (within walking distance) this oasis of great food and service. It was the end of what could have been a dismal expericence in San Antonio. We opted for small plates and found the lamb meatballs, mac and cheese with wild mushrooms and the brussels sprouts to be amazing. A craft brew (of which there were many to choose) and a nice glass of wine and we felt redeemed. Our server, although probably new to being a server and to this restaurant did a very nice job of making our experience memorable.

A hidden gem

By Annette E |

The mac& cheese was wonderfully rich and creamy, lamb meatballs with a little kick combined with the bread was a delightful, and the brussel sprouts were tangy and tasty. Definitely worth the walk, drive, bus, taxi, or Uber fare.

Great food, average service

By Duke |

My wife and I shared the apple walnut salad and had the Bee Sting pizza. We were thought the salad was excellent and the pizza was very good. My only issue on the pizza was the crust was over baked and not cut very well. Our waitress did a good job initially but later made some comment under her breath which I believe was "I hate it, too" as she walked away. I simply said "thank you" when she removed our salad dishes and replaced them with clean dishes for our pizza. Later, she was standing around and talking with other wait staff rather than asking us if we wanted another round of drinks or if we liked our pizza. Overall, Stella's has good food and atmosphere but I think their service could be better.

Wonderful find

By BackPacker246408 |

Awesome. We are from out of town and stumbled on Stella's. We sat outside in the shade, and had a nice breeze. The music on the deck is a good blend of classic and alternative rock. It's in the background, and my daughter and I enjoyed it, but it's not intrusive at all. Best caprese salad I've ever had hands down. Super fresh heirloom tomatoes and wonderfully fresh mozzarella. The waitress made a suggestion and brought a small sample of a fig balsamic sauce that God obviously was talking about when he called it manna from heaven. We ordered the margarita pizza and added pepperoni. Delicious. Staff was attentive, food was wonderful and we had a great meal. Can't ask for more than that.

Excellent food

By JohnS1026 |

Would be five stars but service slow. Not bad just not active. Killer pizza. Great atmosphere. Intriguing menu too.

Nice Craft Beer Selection, Good Pizza, Poor Service

By OkieGirl03 |

They have a nice variety of craft beers both on tap and in bottles/cans, but if you aren't a craft beer drinker, then this maybe isn't your place. No standard/commercial brews available and when we visited they were trying to clear out their spring/summer selections, so many of the options on the menu weren't available. The pizza and small plates we tried were very good; they were accommodating to a vegan in our group without any issue (leaving the cheese off one pizza). The service was the downfall - probably the worst of it was that the food came out one pizza at a time. We had ordered 3 pizzas, received one then15 minutes later the 2nd came, with the third pizza coming even further behind that. Several diners who were seated and ordered after us received pizzas prior to our table. Our waiter was friendly, but brought the wrong beer to one of our group and struggled to keep the water glasses full and the table cleared of used dishes; this would all be more understandable had they been extremely busy, but the restaurant was 3/4 empty.

Superb Pizza Place!

By Ylaní H |

Pizza Hut who!? This Italian experience was one of the best ever! I was able to work an event and was fortunate to have a pizza made for me especially. I was able to see them knead my dough, chop and dice my toppings than shove it into the oven into the flames where after only a few minutes, our master piece was complete. Amazing atmosphere, seating and complete design of this restaurant. Many cannot compare. People were quick, efficient and so pleasant. Helpful and hard working, yet sweet and talkative. I always make an excuse to stop on in. First Fridays of the month are the most fun and order egg on it...so delicious!

GO HERE!!!!

By Chuck R |

PIZZA!! Their wood fired pizza was phenomenal. We each had the margherita with pepperoni and LOVED it. Cooked perfectly, fresh ingredients, perfect. We almost didn't go because we love the pizza at a local Italian restaurant so much and we try to stick to unique items in the city we're visiting. We're both very happy we made the trip because we thoroughly enjoyed the meal.

New favorite in San Antonio

By Rob G |

Came for happy hour and dinner with some friends and it was great. We had 2 of the small plates, 2 pizzas and a salad all family style and each one was really good. The waiter was friendly and made great recommendations especially on beer. Btw they have a really good beer list too. This also has a good atmosphere and everything is organic and farm to table if that matters to you. Our new favorite place to go on a Friday night with friends.

Delicious pizza

We went there for lunch and the pizza was amazing. Chose the four cheese pizza. The setting is really cool as well. Great stop on our bike tour

Energetic, Cool!

By Dennis M |

STELLA is an energetic, cool place to eat. Crowded on weekends (like most restaurants, I guess), but full of mostly young, professional types, middle age/middle class liberals/artists/academic types. The food is tasty and well presented and the service is quick and friendly (once you get a table). While waiting, the HALCYON BAR is connected to the restauarant and is spacious with some individual chairs/tables, or long communal type tables. Enjoyed their pizzas and Salmon/Beets salad. All in all, a nice place to eat, hang out with friends, or take visitors.

Fabulous Pizza

By SnooksintheDesert |

Great pizza and beer at the Stella Public House. Gluten Free is available. Reservations highly suggested, as seating is limited. Pulled pork and pepperoni pizza, yum!!

Delicious reasonably priced farm to table food

By shehall |

I ate lunch here. Everyone in my party enjoyed their meal. I had a thin crust wood fire baked pizza. My husband liked the small, but good beer selection. I would definitely go back here.

A true gem

By sue k |

Stella’s was recommended to us by a local merchant and we loved our early dinner. Stella’s offered small plates during happy hour, and the Mac and cheese and beef wontons we’re outstanding. We shared a pizza, and agreed it was a 10/10. Friendly atmosphere, excellent service; we will be back on our next visit to San Antonio.

Good food, nice drinks

By Ron B |

During our weekend in San Antonio we visited Stella Public House. We were surprised by their extensive craft beer selection. We enjoyed some starters and ate our first ever gluten free pizza, and really, it tasted awesome. I would definitely recommend Stella Public House if you are visiting San Antonio.

Afternoon beverage and snack

By vessels4 |

I met friends for an afternoon snack and quick weekend drink. It was great. We sat outside and enjoyed the atmosphere. Inside was super cute too. Service was good - friendly and quick. We had a variety of beverages from beers to cocktails. The servers were awesome for my friend who wanted to try some new beers before making her selection. They made a fantastic Paloma too. We had ahi tune bruschetta, wild mushroom mac and cheese, margarita pizza and a chocolate mousse dessert. All were stellar. I definite spot to visit. The restaurant is in a cute complex and right next to the river. Will go again!

A delightful meal

By DeidreNYC |

My daughter and I shared a delicious pepperoni pizza (what the menu calls its uncultured swine) and an All Hail Stella salad. The menu said the salad was a caesar salad with a twist. I thought it was quite a few steps removed from a caesar, but absolutely delicious in its own right. I had a refreshing speciality cocktail that included basil, cucumber and gin (with happy hour pricing because it was before 7 p.m.), and my daughter had a perfect lemonade. We had a rich chocolate ganache cake for dessert. The prices were surprisingly reasonable. The wait staff were attentive. All round, a great discovery.

Great Pizza

By Scott D |

What's not to like about this place?! Great pizza with the freshest ingredients, cool atmosphere and huge beer selection. 1 pizza per couple should work if you get a salad or something from small plates.

Sister's Weekend

By Cathy M |

We chose this restaurant on Friday afternoon when we were out sightseeing. The location was on the hop-on/hop-off bus route so we opted to try it. The salads were very fresh and the pizza was delicious. The restaurant has high ceilings so noise was a bit of an issue due to a large party of individuals seated behind us. The staff were very helpful and attentative. Would definitely recommend for lunch if you are in this part of town!

Wish they would come to Boston!

By Northfielder2 |

It’s the homemade sweet tomato sauce that is scrumptious on the garlic baguette wedges, on the lamb meatballs and the Pizza that makes for a wonderful everything here! The spicy Italian pizza was sooooo good. Just the right amount of wood fired taste, with chewy crust! The lamb meatballs were perfect! I loved the polenta fries. Engaging, attentive waitstaff! A great little eatery in Southtown/San Antonio!

Good spot

By SleepyTreeRanch |

Good place for drinks and meeting up; food is good but I thought the pizzas were dry. Jamey the server was very nice and accommodating.

Soo Good

By Aunttabby |

They have some new items on the menu, the Crab Tower, which is layered tomatoes, guacamole and chunks of crab -- so good! When my dining companions saw mine they ordered one too. I also had my favorite Quatro Pizza with 4 kinds of cheese and a fig drizzle. Another new thing on the menu is their chocolate layer cake with berries -- everyone at the table said it was worth all the calories. All of their food is fresh and very tasty. They have some of the best vegetable dishes in town and their Wild Mushroom Mac&Cheese is a standout. This is small place with an industrial ambiance that is comfortable and friendly. Whenever I take people here, they always want to go back.

Great food, great atmosphere and great service

By Travellover6128 |

After a nice long walk along the San Antonio Riverwalk, we stopped here for a quick drink. Our quick drink actually turned into 4 hours and included dinner! We started on the patio, which was fabulous, fairly small and intimate yet enough space between tables to protect privacy. When the sun set, we moved inside to one of the tables and continued eating and drinking. There is a small range of happy hour drinks, where you can get a reasonable glass of wine for $5, there is also a fantastic range of beers and cocktails. Including some beer cocktails, which my other half drank a few of! We shared the truffle mac and cheese with mushrooms as a starter along with the toasted bread, both very yummy. A little while later we ordered the pancetta pizza with an optional fried egg on top - also delicious! Prices are slightly on the high side however for such a fun meal we didn't mind as we thought it was well worth it. Finally our server (and i apologise I can't remember her name), was fabulous. On hand when you needed her, not overbearing, yet extremely friendly and informative. Would definitely recommend especially as it is off the main tourist track, so it has a more local feel about it.

Lite fare dinner

By Chefnm |

Walked to the Blue Star art complex to find dinner and beverages. Decided on Stella Public House. Restaurant was full but we were able to get 4 seats at the bar. Great beer selection and a friendly and efficient bartender. We had 2 pizzas from their wood fired pizza oven as well as the Brie risotto topped with corn and Brussels sprout leaves. Food was all very good. Would definitely come back and would also recommend this restaurant to friends and family.

Staff rock stars! Well done, well done! Food DYNAMITE!

So happy that this little gem near my office is serving dine-in lunch! Victoria, the friendly server, is an asset to the vibe of this casual Italian trattoria.

Pizza love!

By DebEdw |

Farm fresh ingredients, great tasting crust and a wood fired oven -- that alone makes this an awesome place. The pizza is truly delicious. We fell in pizza love with the pulled pork -- it's porky and cheesy. For a starter get the bread and the house salad. The bread is warm, crusty with a topper of evoo and sea salt. The salad - wow- perfect balance of sweet, salty and tangy.

Stella is stellar!

By Hellalouella |

Good atmosphere, gracious service and fabulous food. We stumbled upon this place slightly before noon on a Sunday and were seated right away. I had the root hash with chorizo, topped with poached eggs in a mini cast iron skillet + 2 enormous biscuits I couldn't begin to finish. The spouse ordered a potato and speck dish that came with toast he couldn't stop raving about. The bloody marys in Texas are super spicy and this one came with a slice of crispy bacon as a swizzle stick. Nice. Highly recommend.

Awesome

By allan v |

This place is great! It is located in Southtown about two miles south of the Rivercenter. When my family came to town we tried this place out and it definitely didn't disappoint. Their beer selection was all local and delicious. The pizza is wood fired and made from scratch from all local ingredients. We got a wild mushroom pizza with a fried egg on top. Amazing!!!

Wonderful Food and Service

By viviankatz |

Let me start by saying the lamb meatballs and the wild mushroom mac and cheese are outrageously good! Even the Stella House Salad was farm to table fresh and yummy. I absolutely fell in love with the Quattro Pizza and look forward to trying a different one on my next visit! But really the highlight of my evening was the dessert...in addition to really really great food the dessert menu is short, but really really worth it...especially the Panna cotta. It is light..decadent and habit forming - it comes with a tiny biscotti and a delicate slice of banana with a bit of caramelized sugar...try the great beers and wines...try the great food..but you cannot under any circumstances miss the Panna cotta!!

Nice Decor. Food, not so much.

By Dean H |

Nice, trendy décor. Friendly service. We ordered a pizza ($16) and received the wrong pizza. The pizza had a good flavor, but the crust was soggy. It had an extensive micro brew list.

Great beer list, excellent pizza, nice ambiance

By Chinapjs |

The beer list included some 100 selections in bottle, cans and on tap. Inexpensive priced wine list with good selections and lots of other things to drink. The pizza is the main food offering but there are other small plates. The four cheese pizza was great, the margarita good and the mushroom one fabulous. My son likes the bee sting with honey and a kick. 10-12 choices. Never made it to dessert. Excellent and friendly service

Stay away if you have kids. Food and ambience OK but don't expect great service.

By Massimiliano D |

Liked the food and nice atmosphere but: We got there at 6:15. Told us 20-30 minutes then made us wait until 7pm. That may happen. The seater did not tell the servers we were there, and no waiter showed up until we went and got one, around 715. Main entrees did not get there until 8pm. Food is not the only thing that can make or break a nice night out. Unreasonable wait times and lack of common sense can ruin it. If you are going out on a date or have a small party may be OK. But with a family you want to go somewhere else.

Great pizzas, highest staff

By Martin S |

This was a fun visit, though our server was a bit spacey (LOL). My friends and I all looked at each other the moment she left, and had the same thought -- is she high? She was great! We went on a First Friday and the galleries nearby were open, too. This restaurant is well situated in the middle of all of the art! The food & drink were very tasty, and I took half the pizza home. They had some good vegetarian options, a nice selection of wine, and quite the exotic beer menu. It seemed to be a ton of local or small batch brewery choices. This is on the short list of places to bring my spouse next time we visit together, hopefully on a First Friday.

I don't get the appeal

By scaskey81 |

The service is embarrassing! The food was bland. My crab and tomato dish was flavorless. As much as I love the farm to table concept, it has to be good. Too many great restaurants in San Antonio, don't waste your time at Stella Public House.

Great Beer Selection

By UofAT |

With 20 interesting taps and many more bottles - a great beer selection. Service was good, atmosphere pleasant.

Lunch

By Samantha K |

Love this quaint little spot. Had lunch with pizza and beer on tap. Service was great and pizza was excellent. Can't wait to try their brunch and the flight of mimosas!!! Yummy.

Stella!!!!!

By Bellaire56 |

The beer selection was good and we had a hazy IPA which we both liked. All the staff here was super friendly. They said they were known for their pizza, so when in Rome…not disappointed! It was delicious! While seated at the bar, you watch the woman craft your pie, and she spends a lot of time getting the crust just right!! We enjoyed our evening!!

Great food, lovely little place

By Lee F |

Overall a wonderful meal (lunch). Wide selection of beer. The printed out list of beer was out of date. Just go with what is on the board. Outstanding desert

Good Food!

By Devin G |

We didn't want to wait an hour at the Guenther House, so we walked over here for pizza. The bread and mushroom mac 'n cheese were both great, as was the pizza we ordered. It's a pleasant enough atmosphere and we enjoyed our meal.

Cool, upscale casual atmosphere and fresh tasty food

By wittygirl99 |

The place just smells amazing. The serve pizzas from a wood burning oven. Fresh ingredients, delicious salads. The bartending was impressive as well. Our service was great, friendly but unobtrusive and fast.

Fabulous Farm to Table

By MeKB123 |

Everything was fabulous: atmosphere, service, beer, food. This farm to table restaurant was my favorite dining choice on my 5 day trip to San Antonio. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable (wish I could recall his name) about bar choices and made great recommendations about food. The kitchen made a mistake with my meal, but he immediate apologized and quickly had it corrected. I had a salad and a pizza, and both were incredibly delicious and fresh. The salad dressing was spectacular. My entire party raved about the food, and is still talking about it today, a week after we ate there. Eat here.

Good pizza plave

By MeghanAnnRose |

I enjoyed Stella. I went with a friend and we shared a margherita pizza, which was really good. The service was also really good, as people frequently checked in on us. One reason I did not give it a five star rating is due to the limited menu. I understand the concept of doing one thing really well, and that's what they do here. But if you decided you weren't in the mood for pizza, there are really only small plates and salads for you. It's just something to be aware of before you go. Another thing to be aware of is the limited parking. Stella is in a complex with a few other stores and restaurants and parking therefore becomes limited.

Farm-to-table, absolutely delicious!

By Wonderwaif |

We were recommended this place while on a business trip. Incredibly fresh, local ingredients, cool funky bistro atmosphere. The lunch special was an amazing deal - a hand-crafted authentic personal-size pizza topped with pulled pork & pepperoni (made in a wood-burning oven) and an organic, super yummy field green salad with a delicious balsamic dressing for only 10 bucks! The waiter was incredibly patient with our large group & need for individual tickets due to per diems, and the food was scrumptious. Highly recommend!!

Not only amazing food, but amazing service.

By Kat B |

For such a busy place, we were lucky to be walking in as a large party at the bar was walking out. While they only have pizza, it is amazing pizza. Perfect thin crust, tasty sauce, and the buffalo mozzarella (pulled in house!) is amazing. The pepperoni, I don't know where they get it, could just be eaten on its own. The bartenders are wonderful! Ours had no problem giving us recommendations, and threw samples at us every chance he got. He was entertaining and funny, but not over done or obnoxious. We go here often and plan on being back yet another time!

Wonderful Pizza!!

By southerngirl01234 |

We had the cheese pizza and it was soooo good with the house made mozzarella and fresh basil on top. We loved the atmosphere of the place and our server was top notch :)

Great brunch at Stella Public House

By mrs_un0 |

Enjoyed a lovely brunch with friends at Stella Public House. They have an amazing array of pizzas and brunch boards that will make your mouth water. The staff is super friendly. I wish I had a carbon copy of this restaurant back home!

Good pizza. Good beer selection. Nice vibe.

By jsearle99 |

Stella has a wide variety of beers on tap and bottled. Something for everyone (except for yours truly as I'm not a beer drinker)! The pizzas were delicious, the service was good, and the overall vibe was great for hanging out with friends on a Tuesday night. Well done, SPH!

Pizza Devine!

By TeddyDean |

We ordered pizza to be delivered through a service here in San Antonio. Our two pizzas were gourmet delights, both in appearance and taste. The menu has multiple choices, with wonderful mixes of toppings and flavors, bordering on the exotic! You will enjoy, in person or at home.

Great chill place

By Asha7403 |

Great place to eat and chill.Stella is a modern chill restaurant with very great food. They have a fire brick oven that they cook there pizza in that's just amazing. And I can't for get there lame meat balls that are great covered in the great red sauce. My cousin and her boy friend work there and they get payed well and love it there.Even with them both vegan they still think it's great.

Meatballs and more

By Christine S |

My sister and I went to Stella and knew what we wanted to eat. We were very kindly informed that those items were seasonal. Wah! Our friendly waiter made a couple of suggestions that were right on. We had lamb meatballs, a wonderful salad, and warm bread. Perfect, we even shared. We will definitely go back. The staff is friendly but not overbearing. The place is upbeat and bright, with outdoor seating, once the weather cools a bit.

Great pizza, great beer and great service

By EADTexas |

Just the two of us, a small group of Happy Hour women celebrating birthdays, my husband's work buddies and their wives, and just a couple of friends getting together have all had a good satisfying visit to Stella. We recommend it to others and they have always been very appreciative. Try it, you will like it!

Everything was fantastic!

By Erik H |

We first have to say that the service by Raven was fantastic! She was so knowledgeable about everything on the menu. It took us a while to decide what to get. We settled on a combo of fennel sausage and wild mushroom hash and the prosciutto Benedict. We also enjoyed all of the mimosas including a flight at the end. Overall it was a great experience and more people should venture down here. Interestingly it’s connected to Halcyon which had a DJ for brunch so we had one more mimosa there to top off our experience. TOP NOTCH!

Pizza with great drinks!

By KimbraSplice |

The atmosphere at Stella is quite loud not romantic or a good "First Date" Spot. Think of Hip and Trendy spot where you can get...not just Meatballs, BUT! Lamb Meatballs. And they were good what I'm used to living in NJ/NY. What made this great was I really liked the Service most other "Well Rated" spots have great food but lack great service! Not this Time, the Waitress checked on us once after the order was taken and 2 Times after the Food was dropped off. What we ordered: - Beer CitruSinensis Pale Ale, Not Crazy Hoppy taste Very smooth with hint of Citrus! - Cappuccino I loved it and the Animal Crackers. - Lamb Meatballs Served on a Tiny skillet with 5 Meatballs. - Spicy Italian Sausage Pizza Med. Sized Pie Spicy Sausage w/each slice builds Heat. Taste like a what you expect Sausage Pizza but the Calabrian peppers gave me what I could explain asour/tart taste like olives or Kapers. Now that made it really bold. -Garlic Chicken Pizza Med. Sized Pie Great Garlic Taste, Chicken, and artichokes. Light but I love garlic. Plus Garlic and Artichoke go pretty good with each other. Food was 4/5 Since I'm used to Italian food from the East coast so I'm really spoiled hahah. But, In San Antonio Standards this as good as it gets! Go for it!

Brunch

By lisaarmy |

The service was average. The food was cold and over cooked. The bread was stale. For the price you pay at Stellas the quality is marginal and you will leave hungry. The dollar mimosas best deal in town.

Great service loved the pizza

By Conniemama |

Loved that they brought a cup of animal crackers first thing for my grand kids. We all loved the house salad. The dressing was a maple vinaigrette that was really good. The pizzas were delicious. We ordered plain Mac and cheese for the kids that didn't have much flavor but the kids loved it.

Bellissimo!

By cmcdlm |

We made reservations for 10 and we arrived around 7pm on a Sunday evening. All of us are in the foodservice business, being either chefs, restaurateurs or caterers with one wine professional. We were told by locals that this was a great place to go, comfortable, casual and great food. Exactly what we were looking for, since we have not seen each other in quite a long time and we just wanted to relax and catch up. We ordered several orders of Sweet Potato Gnocchi, Caprese Salad and Lamb Meatballs to share. All were fresh and delightful and well presented, and I especially enjoyed the gnocchi. We then placed an order for a variety of pizzas, Quattro, Margherita, Wild Mushroom and Spicy Italian Fennel Sausage. The pizzas arrived and we were not disappointed. They were hot, crisp and each one was delicious and unique in its own way. Each person had their own favorite with mine being the Spicy Sausage. Some chose from the beer options available and our wine guru chose an excellent Pinot Noir from the small but carefully chosen wine list. Our server did an amazing job, as it is not always easy to wait on people in the food business. He was prompt, efficient and took good care of us. When the bill arrived, I was surprised at how reasonable it was given the quality of our experience. With tax and tip it ended up being around $25 each! As they say in Italy, Bellissimo!

Good beer if you know what you want

By Rachael & Ashleigh |

I enjoyed the Brooklyn Pilsner while my wife enjoyed a Tallgrass Zombie Porter. Both were very good beers. The bartender assisted me in picking a new craft based on my likes/dislikes. They have a happy hour which included beer and wine but they were out of all beers on special, was not offered a comparable deal. We didn't have any food but the menu looked good, many options for vegetarian and meat eaters! If I could select a 3.5, I would. If had been offered a substitute happy hour beer it would be a 4.

Great Date Night

By Amelia J |

Great night out with yummy pizza and a very nice atmosphere. I would recommend this place for any occasion - from hanging out with friends, a work party and great date nights.

Fun Food - Great Service

By Brezer |

Went to Stella Public House in Blue Star for the first time last night. The laid back atmosphere and black & white 50's movie were both very welcome - a somewhat nostalgic atmosphere with an electric vibe in the air. Nice not to have a sports channel blaring from behind the bar. Our waiter, Ernie, suggested some great wines and we then started with the Heirloom Tomato & Crab Tower, which was rich and creamy and the perfect portion for 2 people to share. We then ordered a Southtown Pepperoni Pizza. Loved the thin crust - one of the most authentic pizzas we have had in the states. It was good through the last bite. The coffee house next door, Halcyon, is part of the restaurant, so we ordered the Smores from their menu. Ernie was gracious enough to go next door, place the order and deliver it to our table without blinking. Even though, it is not on Stella's menu, he made it happen. Wow!! That is great service. And of course, the Smores were delicious. We will definitely go back, try some other menu selections, and specifically ask for Ernie.

Nice place, craft beers

By Craig030 |

My wife and I spent all day riding bikes on the mission trail. We stopped by for a drink and food. She had the Brussel sprouts, she loved them. We had the caprese salad which was awesome. We decided to split a pizza. The spicy sausage was very good. The best thing about the place was Victoria the bartender. She walked us through several beers tasting. Very knowledgeable. She is a reason to go back.

Amazing pizza!

By Lprink |

Amazing pizza! We went on St.Patty’s and they were offering a rueben pizza. Delicious! Prices were pretty good too!

Always a pleasure

By OmaghRose |

Every time I go here I get excellent service and amazing food and drink. Farm to table everything, delicious salads and super fresh pizzas. You have to go at least once and I bet you'll go back.

Interesting Pizza Place

By jdog99 |

Being from Chicago I am always leery of pizza out of town. This place has an interesting spin with a farm to table pizza and a public house concept. I would recommend a visit here.

Great pizza and excellent wine and beer

By Chinapjs |

There are 7-8 types of pizza. The crust is really, really good. Best I've had in San Antonio. The toppings were imaginative. We tried three kinds: wild mushroom (great), the bee (honey added to cheese and ham) and four meat (possibly too much meat but very good). Three of us at salads. All in all excellent. There are other things on the menu too including brunch items. But pizza with salad is the star. Personal pizzas are perfect and regular sized pizzas are enough for two, maybe even three.

Great food, great atmosphere, great service

By SteveCeline |

Lovely food, burrata is beautiful, pizzas are thin, crispy, full of good flavours. Staff is super friendly and the atmosphere, music and design is great. Great location and place to eat in San Antonio :)

Go to!

By Ivan1967 |

I try to review, after a few visits. That gives me perspective, & I never judge by service! That is relative. If you haven't served as a server or bar tender? Please spare the rest of us who have! It's harder than it looks. I only say that because I'm giving reviews after multiple visits. Stella's is the next. I love this place. I've been here close to a dozen times. Usually it's beers first. Then off to Liberty or Hot Joy. But Stella's has amazing small plates! And only recently have I tried the pizza! Crazy good! See my review of Il Forno. I've lived in Brooklyn, NY! I'm a pizza snob, beer snob, & food snob! Just go to Stella's, & get your fix! Service is usually good at any table, but the bar tenders are always top notch!

Fantastic Pizza

By Pamela J |

Went with kids and friends for dinner. Great area of the Blue Star Complex and trendy part of town. Pizza was great! Started off with some appetizers - wild mushroom mac We ordered the spicy Italian sausage and wild mushroom pizza - very good! The beer selection was fantastic! So many to choose from that we had several floating and shared around the table.

Fun Brunch!

By jacksprat21 |

There's no pouting, like "take away my pizza pouting", but, it ended up being a very nice experience. I had just moved my daughter into the UTSA dorms, and we both heard WONDERFUL things about Stella'a Pizza! We were VERY excited to try! So, off we went, along with her two new roommates. When we arrived, we were advised that on the weekends, Pizza is not served until 2, due to Brunch being served. We were very disappointed, ....until a couple of cast iron Stuffed French Toasts passed by. ; ) The girls were QUICKLY on board with Brunch. The food was great, service was great, our waiter Ernie was very friendly, and attentive. We ended up with 2 French Toasts, Prosciutto Benedict, and Watermelon Arugula Salad. Yumm-o!! A fun, easy-going, yet elegant experience. Thank you!

Great Pizza

By Jenwee |

My friend and I have been here a few times and I have always enjoyed it. They have a good beer selection. I usually get a salad and pizza and then try to make room for the chocolate cake desert. I like that their pizza is a thin crispy crust and isn't drowning in toppings. My personal favorite is the eggplant sausage and ricotta pizza. Give it a try :)

4 % COVID surcharge

By Joe D |

Went there for lunch and sat outside. Service was terrible and waiter took 1/2 hour to take order. Could not get refills on drinks with meal. Pizzas were okay, however, the slowness ruined the event. Probably would never go back. Bill came and had a 4% COVID surcharge. Seems like management needs to train their wait staff to be more attentive to their customers.

Great pizza

Located in a quaint part of town, this restaurant provides great fresh food. We enjoyed the pizza. Good crust and fresh ingredients.

Was just ok. Biscuits and

By HCMAssage |

Was just ok. Biscuits and breads were cold and some still partially frozen. Poached eggs were over cooked. No butter served with waffles. Chicken was just ok. Out of five of us everyone felt like there food was just ok. The drinks helped us through the meal. With so many options and choices when we go to San Antonio we likely will not go back. Probably will not recommend. Did not like the Covid surcharge. We on average tip 25 to 30% so we just backed it off the tip. Not fair to server but Covid surcharge not fair to customer when food is not at its best.

Excellent food and great service

By Pedro P |

I went with my family and all the pizzas and entrees were great! The macaroni and cheese with mushrooms were basically amazing! Good selection of artisanal beers. Service was very good. Highly recommended!

Great spot

Great little spot. Have a good beer selection, some interesting cocktails. Food is delicious! Ahi tuna Bruschetta is amazing and must try. Pizza is pretty great also. Atmosphere is very modern and artsy.

Don't go unless you like being ignored

By Kristina C |

We stopped by at 5pm and asked if we could make a rez for 7pm for 2 people. "No, we don't take reservations for less than 8 people"...we said okay, and came back around 7p. We did not have to wait and were sat right away and then promptly forgotten about. Finally the waitress came back and we asked for a hard cider and 2 samples of lager. After watching our tiny order sit on the edge of the bar for 10 minutes and then being brought to us warm and flat, we told the waitress "nevermind" we're leaving. One kudo...we tried to pay for the cider but she would not let us...the only good thing. We went to "Bite" instead and LOVED it!

Best Pizza and Drinks in San Antonio!

By Cindy R |

I LOVE Stella! It is my go-to for pizza and the best drinks I've had in town...well in a tie with another place near by. They have wood fired pizza that is thin and crispy! My favorite! Plus salads, dessert...you've got a fantastic meal. It is kid friendly, but I rarely see children there. They have about 4 tables outside, too. Open for lunch, dinner and brunch on the weekend. And their brunch is amazing!! Stella Public House is a must try!

Good food, great location

By arhie |

Came here on a whim during a swing through Southtown. Beer cocktails are great - get the Eclipse! Pizza was delicious but the edges were still raw inside. Would have loved a chose-your-own floght, but beers are predetermined. Creativity of beer cocktails and cuisine gets it four dots.

Love love love their Southtown pepperoni pizza. Be sure to ask for an egg on top! The Mac and cheese is delish and I love all their seasonal side dishes. This restaurant is in our neighborhood and can't imagine living here without it.

Great lunch special

Our beer was cold and the lunch special included a personal pan pizza and house salad. Great brews, great price-super service. Just off the Hop on Hope off bus route.

Figgy Pizza and Brussel Sprouts

By jpc1602 |

We stopped by for lunch and had the Figgy Pizza and the Brussel Sprout appetizer. The Brussel Sprouts had Gorgonzola cheese and ham (I think) and were very tasty. The pizza has a great crust. It had figs and cheese and bacon and was topped with arugula. It had some heat or spice to it. Not sure what provided it but I’m recommending it. Service was good

Great pizza, service and beer selection

By JSR_Adventures |

What more can you ask for? Well the location is great for being near my work for those after work rendezvous with friends. The vibe is good and they have some really nice and friendly servers and bartenders. The pizza is really good and I'm not a big pizza eater but I tore this one up!

Delicious and unique

By Rhernandez78 |

Delicious food and great beverage selection. Be sure to take advantage of the happy hour specials to try a snack, a flight of beers, or a glass of wine. We went with the mushroom calzone, oven bread, and mushroom Mac and cheese to start with rose and a fireman blond beer. Pizzas are 14”, made to order in a oak fired oven. Fresh and delicious. We tried the Quattro Carnes, Margarita, and Quattro Queso. The last was our favorite with 4 types of cheese and a fig reduction. Didn’t make it to dessert. Service was quick and friendly. Great experience over all.

Great food and even better beer selection! !

It is rare to find fantastic service , great atmosphere, great food and great beer all in one place. This place does it!!

Yummy!

By Helenlh66 |

We've been to Stella a couple of times--great beer selection, and also serve some liquor. They have a wood-fire oven where they make fantastic pizza and bread. We've had the pulled-pork/pepperoni pizza--sounds odd, but it's awesome! They make their mozzarella in-house. Many (20?) beers on tap, plus others in the cooler. The atmosphere is pretty trendy/hipster, but they welcome all types!

Small but worthit

By Kevin B |

Pizza here was really really good. Place is really small so be sure to call before you go. I sat outside and at the time the weather was amazing. Summer might be a different story.

Local, Fresh food with diverse wine/beer list.

Wood fired pizza is amazing. Service and atmosphere are fun; loud and busy, but fun. We came for brunch and those who ordered breakfast stuff weren't overly happy, but those of us who did the different pizzas were thrilled. Try the flight of mimosas - super interesting combinations!

Good pizza and drinks

By Tiffanie P |

We stopped in after going to the Art Walk near by. They were very busy, so we sat at the bar. The bar staff was a bit hit or miss. A few were very nice and helpful and a few seemed to not want to be bothered. We ordered the lamb meatballs and a pizza. The lamb meatballs were fantastic with great spice. The pizza was good, but I would say it was average, nothing spectacular. They had some interesting wines, but not a large selection or quantity on hand.

Best pizza ever

Best pizza I ever had. They actually make there on mozzarella every morning. We had the wild mushroom and caramelized onion pizza. Great craft beer selection

Outstanding Pizza

By Kingair45 |

Obviously you don't need my review to see this is a great restaurant, but we had pizza and it was VERY VERY GOOD. We were at the Alamo and wanted pizza so after a $6 Uber ride we were looking over a nice dinner menu. We settled on a nice pie and enjoyed the meal very much. Food is good and fresh, service is friendly and attentive. I don't think you can go wrong. For all you dog lover's, they're pet friendly.

Laid Back and Friendly.... but don't go if your starving

By boo2U |

Needed a Dog Friendly place to sit and have lunch with my cousin, had just flown in and hadn't even checked into hotel yet. No problem, it was an incredibly beautiful day and Stella's has an outdoor patio area and is dog friendly. They made sure the sun wasn't hitting us and even brought out a dog bowel with water for my fur baby. I had the Pancetta Pear pizza, although good, not memorable, on the small side and about $14.00, ( we also had a few side salads $10.00 each they were good, but again, not memorable and very tiny, the Salted Caramel Panna Cotta $9.00 was very yummy and I would order that again if I ever went back. In all fairness, I'd been flying all day and hadn't eaten a thing so was super hungry and all their portions are....on the dainty side so the few bites of salads and my small pizza just didn't cut it for me and the bill was almost $50. The wait staff was very nice and attentive and the atmosphere is definitely laid back and very friendly.

Claire rocks

Claire, our waitress, was so friendly and knowledgeable. She recommended great beers and small plates. My friend and I felt welcomed and had a great time. Spacious place and the lamb meatballs and bread were stellar.

Soggy Greasy Gross Pizza

By IrieMonSA |

I don't know what the other reviewers see in this place. The pizza was soggy, greasy, gross, and disgusting. The service was slow. The prices were too high. I had heard this was one of the new "foodie" restaurants to try in San Antonio. Well, I tried it and won't be back!

Welcoming, relaxing

By InAStrangeLand |

We ate at Stella's on recommendation of family who go here a lot. Now we know why: the service was well-paced, the food excellent, and the ambiance a pleasure. We sat outside on a slow weekday night. Ordered a big salad and two pizzas to share among 4 of us. It was just right. Had a good beer to go with it, can't recall the name but the waiter helped me choose it without being patronizing at all. Note: the Spicy Fennel Sausage pizza is truly spicy!

Great pizza, apps, and drinks!

Great decor. Very casual. Located behind Halcyon Coffeehouse. The sweet potato gnocchi appetizer was amazing. We tried three pizzas. All were really good. Great crispy crust. Happy hour from 3-7 every day. Prices are reasonable. I will definitely go back.

Great Craft Beer and Pizza Venue

The best wood fired pizza and atmosphere

By AndrewS_67 |

If you are anywhere near the King William District in San Antonio, you need to try this place. It is at the BlueStar Arts Complex on South Alamo and is just the best food around...all of it. The margherita pizza is tops with big leafs of basil. Locally sourced food is the norm and it is all so much better than I can describe. A wide selection of craft beers and quirky drinks. Try the Hoprito. Who ever thought that IPA, tequila and orange liquor would go well together has much greater vision than I, but it is SOOOOO GOOD! I can't say enough good stuff about this place and the coffee bar that is connected. Pleasant staff, delicious food and good prices coupled with an inviting atmosphere and responsible selections make this one of my new favorite places to go. I can't wait to go back.

Wood-fired pizza

By Grant H |

Had lunch at Stella today with a friend. Located in the Blue Start complex, sister restaurant to Halcyon next door. Casual dining, heavy wood and metal décor. mostly upscale pizza and salads, with lots of pricey craft beers and wine available. From their website - “Shared plates, house made cheeses, fresh salads and comfort foods made with locally-sourced ingredients.” We split the lamb meatballs small plate, and a house-made Italian fennel sausage pizza with hand-made mozzarella. The 8 small meatballs come on a cast-iron skillet, leaving me to believe they would be served sizzling hot, but they were just warm. We weren’t warned to be careful of a hot skillet as is the custom, so I guess they are served warm (not hot) by design. Very tasty, just thought they could have been bigger. These are “dainty” size, maybe the smallest meatballs I’ve ever seen. So the focus is definitely on quality not quantity. The pizza is about a 14” pie. Very tasty, crisp and chewy crust from the wood-fired oven. As with the meatballs, I thought they could have had more of the sausage on the pizza instead of just a few sprinkles/clumps per slice. Our server was friendly and efficient. I will probably go back, I want to try the wild mushroom mac and cheese, and another pizza.

Good Food

By joerN5828YQ |

Good food. We both had pizza that we very much enjoyed. Tried about 6 beers from their menu on the board. Mostly local and some others. Sat at the bar watching the workers work and talking with our waitress. Very friendly and full of knowledge of the area. Wish we could have stayed a little longer and had a few more drinks but we had to walk back on the riverwalk and it was getting dark out. Try the pizza if you stop in, it is unique.

Found this place by accident.

Lovely shops and nice dining as well. I found this place when I went to rent a bike and it is really quaint.

Went back for Validation. It worked.

Recently my better half and I left a function in downtown San Antonio and were looking for a casual spot for dinner. We had been to Stella once for pizza with some friends and were taken aback on how good a mushroom pizza could be. Mind you we are definitely carnivores but the mushroom pizza sounded a little lighter, just what we were looking for. Well our memory did not lead us to a let down, simply fantastic thin crust with just the right mix of cheese, mushrooms, grilled onions etc. We tried the "lamb balls" with a tomato sauce as good as it gets. Beer and wine selection is well thought out. The place is small and thus a wait may be in store. Go and Enjoy.

Really liked this place

Stopped in for a quick app and a couple of beers. Would have stayed for dinner but got called away, loved the okra app. Really into the farm to table concept. Will make it a point to come back with more time.

Dinner for Two

Great fresh ingredient pizza. Brought our own wine ($25 corkage). Great midweek treat. Sausage is to die for but all pizza is worth a try. Lots of beers on tap.

Pub/Beer House

By Wendy R |

This is mostly a pub house serving pizza. They beer was very good with options for anyone with particular beer taste. They even have a nice selection of ciders. The pizza was ok, mind was burned and had almost not cheese. Everyone else in the group had pizza that turned out great. So they get credit for that. They were able to accomodate our large group and were very attentative. Extra points for that. I know how hard it is go serve a large group. The atmospher was trendy and fun. Overall, its a nice place ot hang out with friends. Relax and have a drink.

It only Pizza but I like it

By Pv_Langosta |

A glass of draft and a thin crust pizza ...hard to beat it when it's done right. Casual dinning atmosphere with some interesting appetizers to start. The Gazpacho soup with watermelon worked for us.

Oh My Mac & Cheese!

By reschli |

This is quite the spot for artisan pizza and small plates (near downtown). First, we were in quite a hurry due to a tight schedule and the hostess figured out a way to seat us even though there was a 20-minute wait (on Saturday at 6:00 pm). So, we knew right away that the service was great. Our server further confirmed that by being very friendly and hospitable. We ordered lamb meatballs, the wild mushroom mac & cheese (small plates were $2.00 off during happy hour) and a margherita pizza (with added fennel sausage and calabrian peppers). We were satisfied with every bite and are still craving the mac & cheese! Note, this place is very popular with the locals and is very noisy. Also, parking is challenging since there are a number of businesses in the same complex, but there is valet parking available. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit if you like quality pies and delectable small plates.
