Great place to eat!

By chukosh |

We found this place while we were waiting for our Tenement Museum Tour to begin. It's Thai and the food, presentation and overall vibe are great. The food was fresh and well prepared...and well priced! We highly recommend!

Not bad, not great

By Elfinlouise |

Dropped in here one night for some takeout. The service was friendly and fast but the food was a kittle disappointing - could have done with a touch more flavour.

Excellent, affordable lunch

By org17 |

Had an excellent lunch here today. There are a few options for lunch at prices from $9.99 to $10.99. I took the Pad Thai option which comes with sticky rice, a starter of choice and an entree of choice. Even though the list of options for the lunch menu was very short and portions are small, everything we tasted was excellent and the overall quantity was just what we needed for lunch. And if you're here after a visit to the tenement museum, show your museum ticket and get a 10% discount.

Excellent happy hour

By Carol757 |

This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel nearby. My husband and both ordered off the happy hour menu (pad thai and cashew chicken), which was quite and reasonably priced. My only complaint was the deafening volume of the music played over the sound system.

Amazing food + Service

By stuartbabcock |

Stumbled on this place after Tenement Musuem tour + I am so glad we did . Small .. Clean .. Attentive service . Food is outrageous as are the Mojitos !!!! In fact , it was so good we came back the next day . We will come back every time we are in the city !!

Excellent first Thai food experience

By Heather M |

I had never tried Thai food before and I wasn't sure if I wanted to ever try it. I don't know why I felt that way-maybe I was worried about too much spice or too much oil. Anyway, we were gong to the Tenement Museum (a must see, btw) and we needed a quick meal before our tour. We saw Sticky Rice and I agreed to try it. It was a great experience! I am a very picky eater and I have several food issues, but I had no problems here. The servers were really helpful once they knew I wouldn't eat pork or shellfish-when I asked about different menu items they had all the information I needed. The portions are generous and the service is not lacking. The restaurant offers a discount with Tenement Museum tickets (again-a must see) but we didn't ask for it because the prices were so reasonable.

Delicious Lunch

By PixelsnFluff |

We had an excellent lunch here after a tour at the Tenement Museum. The ambiance is great and the food was delicious. I had Papaya Salad - yummy and super fresh. We had several other dishes, all great. Service was fast and friendly. I wish we lived here so we could be regulars.

Awesome Asian, Well-priced Wine

By Robert W |

We have brilliant Asian food in Sydney, so we were in two minds trying this venue. The waitstaff swayed us, so 7 of us piled in. The food was world class. Myriad, layered Asian (Thai, Malay) spices and herbs woven throughout all the dishes. Fast, efficient service and all courses were delicious. Washed down amiably by 3 different white wines, all reasonably priced. A great night out in the uber cool East Village.

Decent food

By RT1110 |

Reasonably good service with above average fare. At 15$ per main course can't really complain. We had the masaman curry and the red curry. Portions aren't too large for sharing.

Exactly what we were looking for

By Stefania C |

Found this restaurant from tripadvisor and the rewiews has been truly. During the happy hour (4 to 7 pm) you can have a special menu for 16 dollars wine included: we took advantage of it and tasted 3/4 different dishes. Everything was good. The waitress also has been good in answering our questions. Strange but nice also the house music in a thai restaurant! Anyway, at low volume. Good place in lower Manhattan, near Chinatown at delacey st station.

Good food and friendly staff

By Radu S |

I have come here lunch time with a group of friends. I have to advise against getting the lunch box, which is what all my friends got. For paying a bit extra and ordering things separately I seemed to have eaten much more. The "Tom yum" soup was really nice. I ordered the chicken version, but they had a vegetable one as well which is fully vegetarian, in the case of dietary restrictions. The Cashew chicken was really tasty and the portion was really consistent. Also had some Thai beer. The total was around 18$ (4$ beer, 5$ soup, 9$ cashew chicken). The waiter was really nice and kept filling our water glasses. We were also able to split the bill according to what we ordered, rather than equal parts which was nice. Also, it is situated in a more quiet area of Chinatown and given how packed Chinatown is, this was a great advantage as well.

Well Priced and Delicious

By Jesse G |

The cocktails are very well priced compared to anything we had previously experienced in New York. Food was pretty good

Dinner at Sticky Rice

By Jellish |

We had a great dinner here. Service was great and the food excellent!

Enjoyable Dining Experience

By dgbader |

I was looking for a nice place to meet up with an old friend who was staying on the Lower East Side and who suffers from celiac disease which severely cut down on cuisine choices. Fortunately, Sticky Rice fit the bill perfectly location-wise and culinary-wise. We met right at noon when it opened and the atmosphere was very warm and cordial. If memory serves, my luncheon companion had the green curry, and I had the "Lunch Box Special" which consisted of a generous portion of chicken Pad Thai (other options to the chicken are available), a spring roll and a green dumpling stuffed with pork. Both of our dishes were well-prepared and took a little time to make, which spoke to its freshness; and bonus: not having seen each other in seven years, it gave us time to catch up! So if you're looking for good Thai food in a cordial, unpretentious atmosphere at a reasonable price, I highly recommend Sticky Rice.

Exceptional pad Thai

By ramanelli |

I LOVE Pad Thai... and now I love this place. Found on TA as it was near my flat. Super cool and good service. But above all, the Pad Thai was exceptional and great value. Will return again when I'm in NYC!

Wauww!!

By Kitchenwitch122 |

We loved this place. Dropped in for dinner and were impressed by the food and the people. And the prices were very reasonable. nice decoration as well. highly recommendable, dont miss it!

Great food, great price, byob

By angiejean01 |

In the heart of chinatown. This place is has a great atmosphere even in a neighborhood that the restaurants may be rundown. The prices should be twice as much for how good it is. It is byob but with a $5 corking fee and each person must order $15 worth of food and beverages. They do accept credit cards. Would love to have this at home in MN!

Very Nice Lunch

By Cynthia P |

Called in for lunch, after a tour of the Tenement Museum. Recommended by the Museum staff. I had a very tasty Thai chicken noodle dish and a couple of dumplings on thee side with a beer. An enjoyable and cheap lunch!

Friendly, tasty and pretty rea$sonable

By HClowd |

These guys do a good job of delivering tasty no frills Thai food in relaxed setting. Staff is professional. Curries very respectable. Very cheap corkage if you want to bring your own wine.

Cute Little Restaurant

By Bill M |

My girlfriend and i wandered into this place for lunch on a recent getaway to the Lower East Side. It was not too busy and we were seated and served right away. We were both given a free peanut sauce/thai noodle appetizer as we ordered drinks - nice touch. I got tom yum soup (spicy but not overly so) and some spring rolls (a little greasy but very tasty) while my tablemate got a thai curry dish. We both remarked it was a nice lunch at a good price. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we returned the following night for dinner. The waiter recognized us from the day before-- another nice touch. I went with the beef pad thai with a veggie wonton appetizer and a Singha beer as an $11.00 Happy Hour special-- good value in my mind. The pad thai was yummy. Don't recall what my SO had for dinner-- but she enjoyed whatever it was. The only negative with the place is that the portions were on the small end of the spectrum; a perfect amount of food in my view but I tend to be a light eater. So keep that in mind if oversized portions are important to you. Otherwise, I recommend this place.

Always Fun and Inviting

By Elizabeth R |

The cast of fun staff makes this a go-to. Behind that fun atmosphere is excellent service. The cocktails are creative and the food delicious. Order one of each happy hour bar food and you're set.

Tasteless Food & Overpriced

By Alex_Tallinn |

The calamari were unpleasantly chewy, the Tom Yam soup tasted like dishwater, and the salmon main course like cardboard. I could not finish any of those dishes (and I love Thai food). The bill for two ran towards $200. I was amazed by many 5-star reviews but then noticed that most of them were from pre-pandemic years. This place is going downhill.

Delicious and Plentiful

By elenarf |

My friend and I had done some tours close by at the Tenement Museum and so we asked someone there where we could eat. This was one of the suggestions and we were very pleased with the delciious food, freshly cooked, and certainly plentiful as we were very hungry.

Fun, BYOB and cheap

By Jutrip |

I love this Thai restaurant. They have well priced cocktails and wine bottles and they are also BYOB. If you want to bring your own bottle, you will have to order $15+ food/person, which will get you appetizer + entrée and maybe even a couple deserts to share. The waiters are very nice, the music is loud and the ambiance festive. Their pad thai, pad sew and railroad fried rice are awesome, as is the pineapple and fried pork appetizer. Even their deserts are pretty interesting, especially the cocunut ice cream (stuffed with sticky rice, yummy!)

Excellent Thai food beautifully presented

By Lisa L |

...and fast! We were in a hurry, then desperately wished we could linger to enjoy the flavors of the food brought to us. We ran in for lunch before a tour of the Tenement Museum in the next block (take a tour--fantastic!), and each of the three of us ordered different thngs from the lunch specials menu. And it was no ordinary Asian restaurant lunch specials list. There were three options for different combinations, and each of those three options allowed you to chose 3-4 items from a substantial number of choices. So many interesting flavors. Everything was excellent and presented gorgeously. We each ate for under $10 and wanted to go back for dinner. And the decor was was lovely, too. Not far from shopping on Canal Street, and the perfect place to relax and refresh after a couple hours in that frenetic scene. They serve alcholhol, but I don't know if it's a full bar. They take VISA/MC and are open 7 days.

Slow take away

By Fuzzyhunden |

We went to pick up some take away. The waiters are very friendly and nice, but the food took forever to arrive. The food was good; we had the calamaries, Pad Thai and the Glass noodle salad. The restaurant has a nice feel to it and the service may be quicker for a sit down meal.

Great for lunch

By JohnNet11 |

Great for lunch, after visiting the Tenement Museuem lower east side ( a must visit experience) we had a cheap lunch a Sticky Rice just a few doors down. We had a $9.95 lunch offer. wasn't expecting much, but very nice Thai restaurant , cloth napkins, good service. food was great only complaint dish was too large ! Strongly recommend

Great lunch!

By RufusZach |

Called in here after visiting the nearby Lower East Side Tenement museum. Cosy, relaxed "café" atmosphere. I had a green chicken curry and my friend a massaman chicken curry. Both were fantastic and excellent value at $10 each. (both came with rice). I am a great lover of Thai food and this was some of the best I have had. Service was good, staff very friendly and helpful. Also, a good range of non alcoholic drinks, such as hibiscus and mint and lychee and mango. If we had been staying nearer, I would have returned for a meal in the evening.

If perfect has a rate, it would be it!

By Ivan M |

Discret, you know, this kind of place you see just when you take 5, in between all advertised places and street harangues... And welcoming, you know, this kind of place you feel home and welcome, anytime... And, well, excellent, beautiful, breathing clear, and... Cheap! But you know, not like "cheap"... And all this in the most beautiful, interesting and friendly part of New York City. Unavoidable! A must go.

Pad Thai!

By Aubrey F |

This is a very cute spot with exceptional prices. Came here with a group of friends and we ordered from the prix-fix menu which was only $14!! It included an app, entrée and a beer. I ordered the steamed dumplings as an app (came with two dumplings and they were delicate and delicious). For my entrée I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai. I have had it here before and it was wonderful and I had the same experience this time. All of my friends were also pleased with their meals and we had a good time sitting by the window/open door so a nice breeze could blow in. The only downside was they forgot to order my meal so I had to sit for about 15 mins while everyone ate.. it didn't bother me much until the waiter suggested I share off of other people's plates until I got mind--I thought that was just rude. He could have just brought me something to snack on or a drink or something. Overall, it was a delicious meal and good experience!

Sticky Rice is a little gem for simple, delicious Thai food !

By BEA T |

A cozy thai restaurant on one of our favorite NY streets in the Lower East Side. Angel made us feel very welcome and advised some delicious food on their menu at very reasonable prices ! To top it all, we could have lunch on a cosy table outside as it was a great sunny day. We live in Paris, but totally intend to go back to Sticky Rice during our 2-weeks stay in New York ! Beatrice

Spot on reviews!

By MrsSWLondon |

Thanks reviewers, spot on fab ! Ambience and food fantastic The lovely Angel served us and helped us make the most of the dishes. Go for the crispy squid with grapefruit in tamarind sauce it was divine!

Great place

By Racingmetro |

Lovely little place, great food and service. Happy hour only $14 for a starter, main and beer. I love Pad Thai and it was very tasty here. Good music too. Definitely recommend.

Yummy

By NYC_TS |

We had dinner at Sticky Rice twice. The cocktails and the curry were delicious. The waiters and bartender were welcoming and helpful. Recommended :)

Great atmosphere, average food

By Melaney68 |

We ordered the specials that came with a drink. They were o.k., but nothing exceptional. I did not care for the rice. My daughter also did not care for the taste of the green curry- it did not have the flavor she expected and was heavy on the bamboo. The best part (for me) was the Thai beer. The atmosphere of the place was great and the presentation of the food was nice.

It s not a real Thai restaurant but good vibes

By Gargantua |

We came here for a late lunch and ordered the pad Thai chicken and the pad sew hi chicken . It was good but not Thai flavor . The decor is fun . Toilet clean and smell like lemongrass and the service ok .

A Thai restaurant in L.E.S

By Gaphoebz |

Being a tourist in New York and coming back from Bangkok, after a long and exhausting day we ended up eating in sticky rice because it was not far from our flat. What a good surprise. Green curry being my favorite dish, I chose it but without conviction thinking I'd be disappointed.....and I was not! The real taste of Thailand! That was great! The atmosphere is warm, a reclining Buddha painted in a wall and many candles. We really appreciated spending the evening there and I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for Thai food.

Great Lunch

By rosef79 |

full bar. Friendly service. Lunch trio a good value - pad thai with 2 small apps. Drinks were good - sticky rice for dessert very good as was the coconut ice cream- not too sweet. Bathroom clean

Sticky Rice Restaurant Review

By krivera1007 |

Very cute small restaurant. Great happy hour specials, amazing thai food. Neighborhood gem!! Will definately recommend and return.

Sensational noodles!

By NachoMancera |

We had the most fantastic noodles ever! 'Drunken' noodles with shrimp and squid... Absolutely delicious. It compensated for the bad choice we made for appetizers: dumplings (actually we don't usually like dumllings... we wanted to give them another try... I guess these were good... if you like dumplings) and something called 'firecrackers' (chicken with a tofu purple crust) that had a very unpleasant texture. Still, the noodles made our night. And we left the place convinced that, had we chosen any different appetizers, it would have been our best meal in our week in NYC.

Great Thai food, value, and vibe.

By HClowd |

Service was super friendly. Had the red and green curries which were excellent. Corkage is 5 bucks which is pretty amazing for NYC. Just a solid all around experience in a fun, young hood.

Mango Sticky Rice

By Alwaysaponytail |

I was on the hunt for mango sticky rice! It was delicious and the service was great! I was so happy to find this gem!

A fine experience

By Hans B |

We didnot know what to expect but it was a good meal. It was our first night in NY and we were tired and had a jet lag. But the spring rolls and green curry made us happy. It was good food for a good price in a good atmosphere.

Sticky Wicket

By Traveler22202 |

The food was good, but the place is only one small step above a dive. I'm not sure what the hype is all about. The bathrooms were filthy which led me to question the overall cleanliness of the restaurant.

Authentic food with a zesty atmosphere

By Jimmy B |

Energetic staff and fast service make this a great eatery if you're in the area peckish for something Asian. The food is hot, fresh and genuine, and it's reasonably priced by NYC standards. It's a good eat.

Best Meal in NY!

By westcoastgord |

We recently stayed on Orchard St. and Sticky Rice was right across the street so on our first night we ate there. It turned out to be the best meal of the trip! The food was just outstanding... The place is fairly small, has a full bar... The service was good to although it wasn't overly busy since we we there late on a Wednesday. Prices were also quite reasonable. All in all I would go back for sure and highly recommend to anyone staying on the lower east side!

very good thaifood in nice ambiance

By Schweiztraveller |

Cosy little restaurant , typically for LES. We enjoyed a delicious lunch, well taken care off by a very friendly staff! Anytime again.

Wonderful Thaï food and lovely space

By Theetiquettorialist |

This little Thaï restaurant was a lovely surprise! We were going to have dinner at Barrio Chino which is right across the street and, when they told us that the wait would be of 45mn, we decided to try Sticky Rice: great decision! The food was very good, service was perfect and we were absolutely not rushed (which so often happens...) So if you are visiting nyc and staying downtown, do not hesitate to try this restaurant!

Big portions of good food in a serene interior

By Thea F |

My fiancé and a friend of ours were being tourist-y in New York for the day and decided to go to the Lower East Side Tenement Museum (my second time there -- it's awesome and you should go there, too). However, once we'd bought our tickets, we had about an hour before the tour we had chosen would get started. Hungry, we wandered up Orchard Street, trying to spot restaurants where we could grab a quick bite. As we didn't want to eat gelato for lunch and weren't feeling like more formal Italian dining, we were wondering what we'd do until we saw Sticky Rice. After checking out the menu, we got a table and ordered. The wait was not long, and the environment inside the restaurant is open, full of natural light, cool colored (you know, like blues and greens) decor, plants, etc. We all shared the vegetarian rolls (spring rolls, that is) as appetizers, along with some mango salad. The appetizers were fresh and very flavorful, so they were delightful to eat. Before we had even finished the appetizers, our main courses came to the table. The service is friendly and efficient, by the way. My entree was the tofu and mixed vegetables in red panang curry, served medium, which was pretty hot and OH SO GOOD. I intended to eat only part of my large-ish serving, but ended up eating all of it because it was so delicious that I could not make myself stop eating it. (I guess walking around Manhattan helped me work up an appetite...) My fiancé got the Pad Thai and raved about how good it was, and our friend enjoyed basil noodles with chicken and veggies. Their plates were also heaped with food, and none of us could refrain from eating the whole thing. Oof. Apparently this restaurant has a BYOB policy, with free uncorking if each person orders at least $15 worth of food. That is easy to do if you get a main dish and an appetizer or soup or something. Having said that, this place's prices were really good -- they were what I'd expect to pay for Thai food in the Midwest (about $9 - $11 for curries, rice and stir-fry, or noodle dishes, and another couple of bucks for Thai BBQ; appetizers are about $3-$6), while still being of good quality, fresh and flavorful, not greasy or overcooked, etc. There is also a wide range of beverages, both soft and alcoholic. Our friend had some wine she liked, and my guy and I shared a Thai Iced Tea. If we had come an hour later, we could have enjoyed the prix fixe "happy hour" special, where you get a starter, a main, and a drink of your choice from the menu for only $10.95! All of this said, if you are in the neighborhood and want some Thai food, or simply want to eat well in a lovely little restaurant without paying the typical high New York restaurant prices, Sticky Rice will make your mouth and your wallet happy.

very good and very reasonable pricing

By arielhdz |

The food was very good. I enjoyed the duck spring rolls and the basil noodles with tofu. The panang curry was also good. The portions were also good for me because they weren't oversized like a lot of people look for.

Good place

By Vinz2k |

We find this restaurant with tripadvisor ... A very good place ... Good dishes ... Good wine ... Not for from our apartment ...waiters very nice ... We like !

Fantastic tasty food.

By Jane H |

Wasn't sure at first as couldn't see I inside but so glad we went in. Intimate, contempory and tastefully decorated. Service was great- really friendly. Food was amazing and very reasonably priced. We will defiantly be going back during our stay in NYC.

Delicious food, great price!

By Admiralty |

We had a fabulous meal here this afternoon: chicken with pineapple and multigrain rice. It was so delicious, every ingredient was freshly cooked and the taste was amazing. It cost less than $10 and was the best thing we've eaten in New York. A gorgeous little restaurant that I would recommend. Great service too 😀

Lovely but small Green Curry

By ofanoa |

Having a day off yesterday I looked for some Thai, my special treat on a day off 😋. Sticky Rice restaurant was inviting, having a celebratory feel and music. The menu in this little cozy place is somewhat limited, but it had Green Curry so I was all set. The dish came with some lovely Brown Rice, unfortunately being Keto I can’t eat. As for the Green Curry, if nothing else Sticky Rich chef should be awarded for the color. Lovely green with a great fragrance. The taste was lovely, creamy, hot and well balanced, my only critique would be on the size of the dish that could be a bit more generous on a dinner entree. I enjoyed it. 🤷‍♂️.

Amazing thai food and great ambience

By lostroptrav |

We had dinner there and everything we ordered was amazing. The ambience is also very nice. The only recommendation would be to reduce the volume of the music a bit (personal preference though).

Calamari Salad Was Excellent

By Scott B |

The grapefruit/calamari salad sounded interesting while walking by, so this was our spot for dinner, and it was extremely tasty, the winning dish of our night. We ordered the mushroom sampler as an appetizer, but would pass on that if we went back, although it was nice looking in preparation. The lamb dish was prepared well, and for the price had a nice size lam portion. And, the mango sticky rice was very good, some of the best which I have had. I think what separates this from other Thai places is that the rice was perfectly cooked in the desert, not mushy. And, the calamari on the salad was lightly fried, crispy outside, not overcooked and chewy or oily. Although it was only a salad, this isn't something easy to prepare at home to get the calamari just right, and the tamarind dressing meshed well with it and the grapefruit. Drinks were good and well priced too for NYC.

Low Key Charm

By SGavs |

Met a friend here for lunch, prices were great, food delicious and will definitely be back. Staff was super friendly and atmosphere charming. Low key "secret spot".

Flavoursome food, great service

By atowers14 |

Excellent service and absolutely delicious food. Some of us had the lunch combo and the other the pad see hew. All was fantastic, full of flavour as described. Would definitely go back

Great Thai food

By Silicon_Valley_Guy1 |

Exploring the restaurants near my hotel in the Bowery, I stumbled across Sticky Rice primarily because of the favorable reviews on Yelp. After my dinner there I would have to agree. I am still learning about Thai food, but the red curry was terrific. Not too spicy either. Add in a couple of bottles of Singha beer, and I left there a very happy camper. Service was excellent and the place was attractive. The walls were brick but they had done some interesting painting on the bricks to simulate artwork which I thought really was creative and worked very well. Really improved the look of the place. Wholehearted recommendation.

Perfect value for money

By Mare K |

Enjoyed delicious lunch with kids. Tasty food and great value for money in nice environment. Recommended to share multiple portions.

Delicious, fast, fresh, and reasonable!

By Heather M |

The first time I ever ate Thai food was at Sticky Rice, in late 2013 or 2014. I was visiting the Tenement Museum and needed a quick bite, so we stopped in to Sticky Rice for my second Thai food experience. It was as delicious as our first visit. The service was prompt and helpful. The food was incredible. I requested my food be prepared without eggs (because I don't like them, not because of an allergy or intolerance) and the waiter was happy to accommodate me. My special request didn't delay the food. It seems like a good value (I have only ever had Thai food here so I don't know what to expect with pricing and it is NYC after all). I will absolutely eat here again (and again!).

Great little find

By carmentom2014 |

Went to find a restaurant across the road from this place but we got sucked in by the amazing food smells. Great food! Have the pad Thai !!! Nice atmosphere Not amazing cocktails I would go for wine next time. Staff are friendly enough Would return again!

MMMMMmmmm, Sticky rice!

By sazoram |

YUM! Went for lunch after our visit to the Tenement museum on the recommendation of Catherine at the museum. (They even give you a discount when you show your museum ticket stub). Lunch special includes two appetizers and an entree- my choice of Pad Thai, dumpling and chicken satay were very good. Margarita sampler was yummy too (there were many to pick from and we chose Pomegranate, blood orange and mango). I had the best coconut ice cream ever, not too sweet, and served on a bed of sticky rice. Of course, had to have some of their namesake desert as well, mmmmm sticky rice! The price is right too. What a great value-

Fabulous Thai

By hgarl |

Wow! Stumbled across this restaurant and it was a real find ! Beautiful Thai food ! Fresh, interesting flavours, new dishes we hadn’t seen before ( calamari salad with grapefruit! Yum!) and a Thai reinvention of pork buns - really yummy ! Highly recommend. Lovely staff and great service.

Pretty Dang Good BYOB

By Va9nessa |

I must say this food was pretty on point for Thai. We ordered some of the special appetizers - some spring rolls, chicken stick things, and then each ordered a meal. We all had a different level of spicyness added to our dishes and the cooks got it perfect. I had Massaman Curry which I really enjoyed and couldn't even finish it. Everyone else enjoyed their meals as well. The service is nice and they sat us as soon as they could quickly cleaning off tables. They are like a well oiled machine even on a busy night. We will be back again soon, because its good food and BYOB! (just be aware that there are order limits when you bring a bottle.)

Excellent Thai meal near the Tenement Museum

By Jen6161 |

I ate here with two friends on a Sunday lunchtime. Staff were friendly, service was prompt, the food excellent and prices very reasonable. I’d particularly recommend the multigrain rice with cashew and pineapple - delicious!

Food so good!

By akcologne |

It was a very nice evening at the restaurant. Friendly stuff, nice place, really good food and not so expensive! It is really worth going there

Good Thai venue

By martynsnook |

Lively place in lower east side. Good Thai food. Owners also used to run regional Thai in Chelsea so was good to find them. Recommend basil fried rice and any curry. Good lively atmosphere.

Great Authentic Thai Food

By Bennettbrian |

A great little restaurant on the lower east side. A small restaurant with the availability it sit outside if preferred. The food was authentic Thai food and tasted fantastic. We visited twice in our 2 week holiday as we enjoyed it so much the first time. The selection of beers are good too with Singha and Tiger beers available. The dishes were delicious, with a choice of how spicy you wanted it too. The portion sizes were good. the Tom Yam soup with prawns and the Pad Thai were two of our favourites. My wife loved the mango and rice dessert. The staff were very friendly and attentive too. Would definitely recommend a visit if you’re in the area.

Great food, great cocktails ... Best bang for the bug

By DWG85739 |

We changed dinner plans based on the reviews on tripadvisor and went to Sticky Rice for an early dinner and a drink - or two. Appetizer: pan seared pork dumpling - yummy!! Main course : Pad Thai - very good and served hot (thank you) Braised short rip - great seasoning. We also had multiple cocktails that were good. Prices were very reasonable and we would be going back when back in town.

Excellent thai food

By PrisCal5g68d |

Excellent thai food Chicken pad thai was just perfect!!!! Loved the place and friendly stuff! Will come back soon.

Royal lunch

By ofanoa |

The Royal lunch. Since I was at the lower east side I got lunch at Sticky Rice. I am never tired of Thai food or Green Curry, so thats what I had. The dish was great!!! Not to hot yet it carried a punch. It had a great balance of the creamy curry sauce. As in all Thai dishes it had the four main elements: sour, sweet, creamy and salty. the heat was added at the top. Being a Farang, I can’t take to much of that heat 😁 or at least require a fire hydrant near by. My dish was just right. Well balanced and well priced. Thailicious 😌. .

Fabulous place, food and people

By sheenagate |

We stumbled on to this place and can't seem to stay away. Fabulous place, great food, drink and music, wonderful/amazing staff and very welcoming. Thank you so much to Derek, Butterfly and all the staff for making us feel so welcome and for the great NYC experience. We'll definitely tell anyone visiting NYC to drop by and will see you again I'm sure. Best wishes Malcolm, Sheena and Grace from Dubai x

Fantastic food, definitely recommend!

By Alastair W |

Music may be a bit loud for some people but a really great little restaurant and fabulous food. Service also very friendly.

Great place for lunch!

By SugarMommy |

Location was nice and the food was good. The Pad Thai was delicious and so was the Moo Ping BBQ skewers. Obviously not quite the same as being in Bangkok (since we lived there) but it was good! Good value for your money too, great service and the ambience was nice.

Beautiful flavorsome food

By Trish S |

We loved this restaurant - it is fairly small, modern and the food was delicious. Excellent service and a great atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Amazing food & staff! Loved it!

By Sally K |

We came across this beautiful place by chance. We were rushing to a Private View at a gallery round the corner & wanted to eat beforehand. It was all looking a bit bleak until we found this place. Amazing staff & food! Really good value especially if you make it for happy hour! I think this was my favourite meal in NYC!!!

Good thai place

By erik05at |

We arrived just before the happy hour ended. The prices for food and drinks were more than reasonable then! Mine was extremely spicy - but it was delicious. Good and fast service

Amazing Thai food

Nice restaurant on the lower East side of Manhattan with nice ambiance and absolutely delicious Thai food.

Cool restaurant, fab Thai food

By Deanne |

Read some great reviews on this place and only 15 min walk from our hotel so thought we’d try it. Awesome Thai food, every dish, watch out for the spicy chicken wings though they’re fiery! Nice vibe in the evenings with cool music and friendly service. Lots of other cool restaurants and bars close by too but would definitely recommend this place had an excellent evening.

Looking for a quick and good lunch

By Opportunity2256 |

Had a limited time for lunch heading to a meeting on the East Side and literally stumbled into Sticky Rice. Very friendly staff. Food was delicious. Good lunch specials that available and timely. Once we were in our meeting the attendees ask about lunch we told them we we to Sticky Rice and they also said that was favorite of theirs as well. I look forward to the opportunity to visit again.

Great happy hour cocktails

We visited just for a quick drink at happy hour and loved it. The only problem was we weren't hungry enough for food! The service was great- attentive and very friendly. $7 happy hour cocktails - what more can you ask for?

Surprise find

This was a last minute find... we were so hungry after walking over the Williamsburg bridge we were looking for a happy compromise for both me and my brother a vegan and a none vegan. Sticky Rice was to be - the service was great and the staff very friendly and quick.

Beautiful Food & Ambiance!

So many Thai restaurants in Lower Manhattan have great food but lack ambiance...this place has both. Terrific date option!

Excellent Pad Thai in a modern atmospher

By Rashky |

Thai food in a modern and sligthy fashionable atmosphere. The food menu is not very broad. I can suggest the pork with pineapple as a starter (very tender meat - eat it with a portion of sticky rice) and a delicious pad thai with shrimps - the noodle were very tasty and mixed perfectly with the sauce. They also have a wide selection of cocktails and a well-equipped bar. Friendly and fast service. Prices are average.

Little Thai gem nestled in bohemian East Village

By Jill M |

Sticky Rice is a small restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere that offers delicious food at very reasonable prices. Although the 'Sticky Rice' served is not authentic glutinous rice considering its namesake, this eatery provides a sufficiently authentic Thai undertone to their cuisine that satisfies most fusion palates. I would however have liked to taste the stronger and more vibrant flavours that the legendary Thai street food has to offer to its patrons but non the less, Sticky Rice is a good restaurant and a pleasant escape from the hustle and bustle. It also stands out because of its use of excellent quality meat as all too often in Asian restaurants, the meat is processed and rubbery (something which should be outlawed due to its dubious origins). So enjoy East meets West in this charming little venue and order the Papaya salad to refresh your palate or the coconut soup for a soothing rib-warmer.

good food, nice atmosphere

Stopped in for dinner. Ordered the green chicken curry and was not disappointed. Curry was very good, and enjoyed the multigrain rice it was served with. Service was good, the atmosphere fun.

Great Thai food, Party atmosphere

By LichakR |

this place has very good Thai food and the prices are reasonable. They also have good drinks and very nice service. the only thing is that the music is very loud so its sometime feels more like a party than a restaurant. went there with my boyfriend and the place was packed, when we got the food we understood why. its a very good meal for a reasonable price.

Fantastic

Met at the door by Angel who was a marvellous host. Very friendly and attentative. We had not eaten Thai food before and she spent time with us helping us chose exactly what we liked. The food was some of the tastiest we have ever had. Angel made us feel very welcome and we would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant. Be prepared for a taste sensation.

Lovely little restaurant great value and food

Popped into this restaurant in Chinatown as I love thai food and always go to thai restaurants anywhere I go! Between 5-7.30 it's happy hour and there is a set menu for 10.95 (dollars) which includes wine, beer or soft drink. The selection is small however but the food is lovely and for the price it's great value. The staff were friendly and attentive it's definitely worth a visit!

Wanted Chinatown and this fitted perfectly

We were staying uptown but wanted to get to somewhere away from this area. Chinatown was recommended on a tour and this place came up on Trip Adviser. Great little restaurant. Small but very good menu. Service and staff very good. Cost wise it’s great value. The margaritas are really good.

Really great atmosphere

I loved this place for its atmosphere and the mango margaritas! I got the Beef Spare Ribs and they were super chewy/fatty. I did like the rice though, and the side salad was one of the best I've ever had (they use a house vinaigrette). This place was pretty packed on a Thursday night, and I was so lucky to get the seat right by the door so I could watch the world go by. Overall very nice place and super cute decor!

Delicious thai food in a lovely cosy restaurant

Our meal at this Thai was pretty cheap and absolutely delicious. The waiter was attentive, he knew which meals had gluten/egg in them as I'm intolerant and was able to make recommendations. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here - the satay chicken was to die for!

Great Pad Thai and excellent value!

By Tom S |

Visited during the week. We both had the Pad Thai combo which includes Pad Thai main along with 2 sides. The sides included vegetable spring roll, pork dumpling, satay chicken etc. Each tasted great and the chicken Pad Thai was particularly good! All for $9.95 which is amazing value in NYC.

A true Gem in the Lower East Side

By Alan B |

On our recent trip to NYC we discovered this amazing restaurant by chance. We happened to be staying close by and after driving for 7 hours to reach NYC this place was truly what we needed. The service was friendly, the decor was lovely and the food was fantastic. We started with the dumplings which are a cross between steamed and fried. We loved them so much we debated ordering a second plate. I had the Pad Thai with pork belly. The flavors in this dish were fantastic and the pork belly was cooked perfectly. If you are in the area then definitely check this restaurant out. We definitely will the next time we are back in NYC.

Best dinner in NYC

By SCAD24 |

This was definitely the best meal I had during my stay in NYC. The atmosphere and service was brilliant and the food was exceptional. I had the curry noodles and my party had items such as Thai beef salad and Pad Thai and we all couldn't stop raving about it. Definitely add to your list of places to visit!

Amazing red curry, spectacular decor

Red curry was awesome, as was the pad Thai.... Ridiculously cheap happy hour food special $11, a truly amazing value for 3 courses.

Yum

We did happy hour at this place after a visit to the Tenement museum. Food was good quality and cheap, and so was my cocktail. I also loved the decor. It took me back to Bangkok. Definitely worth a visit.
