Great variey of food and drinks

By AmericanPie24 |

Spotted this place on the way to Intepid Museum. What a find! Brilliant variey. Filled subs, hot food, cold salad bar, great drink selection and supermarket, amongst other food. Would definately visit again. Stopped for lunch.

Great lunchtime buffet near the Intrepid

By Kathy S |

We enjoyed this lunchtime buffet. Many choices, food priced by weight. Enjoyed the Greek salad, lots of hot and cold choices

Best food choice near the Javits Center

By Marco W |

Given the options at the Javits Center for overpriced food, my colleagues and I preferred to walk a couple blocks along 11th and get a higher quality selection of food for a more reasonable price at Sunac Natural Market. It is prepared food but primarily served in "to-go" containers. My favorite was the salad bar but there are quite a few different offerings so most eaters should be able to find something they like. There is informal seating available but it is somewhat limited and got full at lunch rush. If you are a group of 3 or more, it make be tough to find a seat together. Significantly better than the Javits food court and the walk is probably better for you as well.

Love this place, upscale and urban atmosphere.

In the middle of all the Manhattan chaos is this natural market. They have a very expansive hot and cold food bar. Pick and chose what you want from the many wonderful dishes. Bakery is yummy. Deli is also quite expansive. We loved everything we got at this location and it has become one of our favorite, fun dining options when in New York city.

Excellent food. Big buffet. Have eaten here many times. Dinner menu is great. Lunch also looks good but have not eaten here. Friendly and helpful staff.

Sunac

By ShezzaT |

Had our first meal in New York here, had a breakfast, the food was good and hot, we also had lunch there, a Turkey roll that had plenty of filling. You have so much selection so can eat healthy but at a great price, we sat in to eat but can take away if preferred.

Fantastic

What an excellent find, a recommendation from the clerk at the Circle Line. Excellent food and a wide range of fresh stuff, cooked fresh. Wonderful supermarket too

Rude People at the Counter

By David N |

Its one thing to have good food , which I will admit that they do. But its another thing to have your employess control what your place does as far as business. It is very wrong to close the grill during lunch time. Some of the staff there have bad attitudes.

A gem amongst the fast food alternatives

By Twyningite |

This help yourself to good food, and get it weighed for a price, was a welcome find and we went there twice in two days to enjoy their food.

Loaded sandwiches and Fresh Smoothies

By coolpunter1 |

For a place located very close to Intrepid Museum and Cahcet Botique Hotel, we stopped by for a quick bite before heading back on a long drive. Staff was helpful and located next to a luxurious Condo building, the products were all of quality and tasted natural. Long grocery store with storefront area for quick botes, salad bar and smoothies.

Great Late Night Deli

By Bob K |

We had been on an evening harbor cruise and were walking back towards 7th Avenue when we encountered Sunac Natural Foods. There was a slight chill to the air and we thought we'd see if they had any soup. Yes! They do! We found a soup bar with different kinds of soup. There are are several container sizes and you pour your own. A medium size container was $4.99 and worth every penny. We paid for the soup and ate at one of their inside tables. Just perfect. The chicken/chowder was just right.

Who cares about hotel mini bar snacks and drinks if sunac is around the corner catering for all dietary needs?

Great place to go for families when everybody has different food preferences.fresh,a lot of choice, eat in or out,the ultimate deli\sushi\chinese\Coffee bar\breakfast place\supermarket

My favorite market in NYC!

By lucycan |

This place is nearly new. Its split into two parts - a grocery store and a deli. The deli has all kinds of options from grill to sushi to hot buffet. Also great fresh fruit. My two kids who are both picky eaters had no trouble finding something to eat. All very fresh. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for!

Best/healthiest fare around

By Diana O |

We stayed @ Travel Inn, (right by Sunac) before & after our cruise, and had brunch here a whopping 4 times...why, cuz it's the BEST food in town-fresh/healthy/great expansive selection. WAY better that the food on the NCL cruise ship, BY FAR! Simply everything in the hot/cold bar was fresh, in season, with no additives or chemicals. Worth every dime. Every option from the food bar is amazing-clean, healthy nutrition. Thank You Sunac, you guys do it RIGHT!

Foodie heaven

By beefyballo |

A hidden gem in bustling mid town Manhattan. I ate here almost daily on my trip to the big apple for the marathon. It seemed very popular with fellow atheletes. The food on offer was organic and cooked to perfection. The buffet style eating suited my informal dining requirements. The choice was vast and never disappointed. A must do in Manhattan!

Excellent

By BusdriverPhil |

This place has a hot buffet, cold buffet, fresh fruit buffet and you can have something cooked as well as have a salad made to order. This deli has it all and you can tell by the crowd that's in there every day On the buffet you pay by weight.

Fantastic lunch

By Holly C |

Delicious food. Couldn’t have been better, a wide selection of choices from hot and cold buffet to sandwiches and wraps.

Quick breakfast

By Anne Marie L |

Great food for a good price! Paid 5$ for two eggs, bacon and potatos. Perfect place for a quick meal. Eat here or take it to go. Try this! :-)

SO CHEAP! (THE OWNERS, NOT THE FOOD)

By ssinberg |

I order food 3-4 times a month there. Today I got a sandwich and a large tea. When I asked for more hot water (not another teabag) they insisted I PAY FOR IT! What kind of place charges you for HOT WATER??? I told the manager there I've NEVER been asked to pay for extra water (and there was a line at the cashier, as well) and I told him that they'd seen the last of me and that I would write a review about their cheapness and he said, "Go ahead." So here it is.

Great place

By Shalene A |

All I can say is amazing. So much food options to choose from. If you're vegan low carb, a foodie, want to try some of everything, this buffet style restaurant is for you and the prices were great too...everything tasted wonderful

Delicious Variety of Food, Reasonable Prices, Close to Javits - Sustainable.

By Patrick C |

Located right next to the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center (or Javits Center), SUNAC is a true godsend. From a hot and cold salad bar/buffet of food by the pound to a grill, juice bar, smoothie bar, bakery and panini/sandwich bar; SUNAC serves complete breakfasts, sandwiches, sushi and Tex-Mexi-ish food and even vegetarian fare. or NYC, all of their prices were very reasonable. A large 'invincible' smoothie made of strawberries, peaches and soy milk with 2 Tex-Mex tuna salad sandwiches was about $20.00 and all of it was delicious. They believe in supporting sustainable agriculture, aquaculture and all of their meats are naturally raised. Their fish is wild caught. A large quantity of their produce is grown in the tri-state area and they are proud to support as many local farmers as possible. SUNAC is a member of Slow Food USA and the Chef's Collaborative. If you are at Javits or near the piers - this is a great, reasonable option and they do have a seating area and clean bathrooms.

Very good deal on freshly made breakfast sandwiches.

By Dwaine S |

You can choose the buffet or get what you want made to order. The made to order breakfast sandwiches are fresh, generously portioned, and a great value.

Good value

By pippa432 |

This a self-service deli where you put your food in a box and pay by weight. There's a variety of hot main courses and a salad bar. All to eat in or take away and very good value. There's a mini-supermarket at the back of the shop. It's on 11th Avenue and close to the Javitt's centre and apartment buildings so very popular.

Amazing

By Bella V |

My family and I went to NYC and this was by far one of out go to places!! The chocolate cookies are incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also the buffet they have is always full of food and is always served fresh! Their cheesecake is amazing!! It's also great for any food as it is a massive super market!! If you are going to NYC then this is the best place for a quick and delicious dinner!! Not to be missed!!

Great Breakfast Spot

By Christine H |

This natural food market is a great place to go if you are on this side of town and want to avoid pricey hotel breakfasts. There is an AMAZING fresh fruit bar, lots of breakfast choices, omeletes made to order, etc. If you're working a full day at Javits, make this your breakfast and lunch stop!

A Lot of Variety, But a Little Pricey

By Sheryl M |

This place is like a buffet style restaurant. But instead of a set price for eating there, they sell the food by the pound. At basically $10.00 per pound, I think it's a little high priced for the style of restaurant. The food is average, nothing outstanding, on the buffet. Usually there was only one cashier, so the wait was a little long most of the time. The cashier was friendly, but very slow. I wanted to try some baked goods and it took quite awhile before someone showed up to help me. The restroom is clean, but it's upstairs, so is not handicap accessible. It's an okay place to eat if you have the time to wait.

Luv This Place!

By Just Ask K |

We stopped here on our way to the Travel Show at the Javits Center. Absolutely love this place. Lots of variety packed in a small location (I'm from Indiana) They have so many hot cooked items to choose from. Even the salad bar offers some great healthy options. Everything looks fantastic and fresh. They also have an attached natural grocery store. Great place to get dinner!!

Business Traveler

By Jessie E |

This place was the perfect place to grab something on our way to and from the Javits Convention Center! The buffet is great, lots of healthy options breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can also dine-in, grab a latte, picked up groceries, and great soup options too!

Lunch was great; dinner was not so great

By Kenneth S |

We truly enjoyed the wonderful, fresh selection for lunch. Then, two days later, we decided to try the place for dinner. The selection was reduced and much of the food seemed to be left over from an earlier time.

Store management are into profiling

By Jose T |

Do not visit this place if you are not white or aren't wearing a suit. They will treat you different. I was profiled there one time and was profiled the next one by the two Asian men managing the PM shift. One day as soon as I entered the location the one at the register kept staring at the monitor like I was a dangerous person or something. Funny enough the store was moderately crowded and he took the time to check me out. Second time I asked the other one (the one wearing glasses) for the restroom after paying for my food (he saw me serving myself at the salad bar) and the man said that I needed a receipt like it wasn't obvious that I was a costumer. I once told another employee about this and he admitted that they were racist, so this is something that is not in my mind ( I don't play that card). The rest of cashiers seem nice btw. It's the two Chinese men managing/supervising that are into profiling.

What a wonderful find!

By Pat M |

This was one of those tried to go somewhere and ended up somewhere else....so walked around and found the Sunac Natural Food and went in for breakfast. Oh my gosh....food was so fresh and lovely. We had full breakfast and fresh fruit bowl - so very pleased with selection, price and atmosphere. A real community spot.

Tasty treats

By Lewis W |

Wondering around New York on a freezing cold December day we stumbled upon Sunac on the way back from the Circle Line Ferry Tour. A fantastic selection of tasty looking food, we sat down at a table to warm up and the Corn Chowder was TO DIE FOR. There was a vast selection of foods all fresh, suitable for veggies and meat eaters, snacks or more filling. We visited again for lunch a few times over the week and had great food each time with great value for money. I've never seen such a vast selection of milk in my entire life, there must have been 30 choices of full fat, 1%, chocolate, caramel; you name it they have it! Loved the hot buffet and fresh sandwiches made to order.

Best food and service - price great!

By Kkarkos |

Loved this place. It was a gem for getting an inexpensive breakfast nearby where we were staying. Lots of variety and options.

Fresh, healthy food options!

By WavesandWine14 |

As a health-conscious traveler, I was delighted to find this natural food store. I ate here every single day of my trip. I had a variety of fresh pressed juices and smoothies which were fresh, delicious and satisfying. I also had their delicious omelet platter which included home fries and toast for a very low price. Their cold and hot bar is amazing- the fruit looks almost too good to be true- big, colorful arrangement of delicious fruit! Their soups are amazing, and their hot food options are tasty!

Stop here!

By Lisa R |

This is a great place to eat , especially if you are going on the circle line cruise. The food was amazing and there is a great variety .

Don’t eat at Javitts!!! Eat here!!!

By Pmrphoto |

Thousands of people a month visit the Javitts for conventions each month. They are treated to cold food served up after waiting in long lines at absolutely exhorbitant prices. Few people realize there is an oasis of culinary bliss just off that property. Walk out of the main entrance and take a left on 11ave and walk 2 blocks to Sunac. It’s a massive grocery store with an amazing hot bar with something for everyone. You can eat Asian, Greek, Italian, Chinese, Mexican, grill, and the deli is to die for. There are usually 10 soups on hand. If you can’t find something delicious here it’s your problem.

A little expensive but worth it

By yorkie d |

Front he outside it does not look much but this place is worth a visit. On arrival there is limited seating to the right for approx 20 people. The buffer is 8.99 dollar a lb there is a selection of meat and veg and ample choice for both vegetarians and meat eaters. Dessert looked nice although I did not try it. .

Going to Javits? Go here!

By Ckline95 |

Excellent deli just a block away from Javits. If you’re at Javits, forget the crowded, mediocre, and expensive cafeteria. Take a 5min walk to Sunac. Sandwiches, sushi, hot meals...you name it. Much better, much cheaper.

By matt7526034 |

Wished there was a lower rating. They refused to give me one of their pre made sandwiches on the basis they don't serve until 4am. Mind you it was 3:45am and there were at least 20 sandwiches sitting, already made, in the window. Don't go here. I live across the street and will gladly walk an extra 15 minutes to avoid it. Absolutely terrible customer service.

Awesome!!

By mm__j__ww |

Great grocery with huge deli and fabulous buffet bar. I had fresh fruits and berries and oatmeal... There is seating here too, if you don't want to take it out.

Brilliant place for lunch

By Shirley G |

Found this place by accident and loved it. Huge variety of food to suit the whole family and excellent value. We visited twice on our 4 day trip as we all loved it. Would recommend a visit.

Great variety and quality!

By Cassie L |

I've tried for both breakfast and lunch - a lot of great options! Definitely recommend their breakfast sandwiches.

A must try!

By janaw79 |

This place is amazing! I have eaten there twice, for breakfast. The food is fresh and prepared to order. Coffee is delicious. A very quick and efficient place to eat, especially when you are pressed for time. Options are endless!

Healthy, Fresh and Quick

By TammaraK |

Recently was in NYC for Book Expo. This little gem was a few minutes from my hotel, "Yotel" and The Javits Center where BEA is held. I ate at least one meal here for 4 days. Lots of great buffet choices that you can customize to your taste and pay by weight. They had several counters where other hot items could be ordered. And their juice/smoothie/coffee bar was excellent! There is nothing you could want that you couldn't find here and it is a curated inventory of healthy, nutritious choices. And it was super busy, so everything in the buffet was always fresh. The service was great. And there is a small eating area if you don't want to take it to go. Prices were reasonable for the quality.

Great Stop on the way to Convention Center

By John H |

We stopped in for coffee and breakfast. The food was fresh, and the service was pleasant. We will utilize Sunac throughout the convention.

Great lunch selections

By Tony A |

Hugh choice of sandwiches and a buffet selection to knock your socks off. Well worth a visit, very affordable as well.

Most excellent food and service

By Sandra D |

The Buffet has the most wonderful selection of food...both hot and salad related and there is the option for fresh stir fry and panini and sandwiches and baked goods. There are two small areas for sit down if needed. The shrimp salad is marvelous and the baked fish is to perfection. The staffing is great and the check out, there is never a wait time. It's amazing what you find in this store ...it basically has everything your tastebuds grave for and more.

Healthy option

By Karen O |

What a great selection of salads, soups, Asian foods and fresh sandwiches! Perfect for anyone attending the Javit Center and only a short walk north along 11th Ave. Take out or eat in at one of the tables or window counter. Highly recommend for lunch.

Great sandwiches

By Hagar08540 |

Went here escaping the poor food at the javits centre and loved it. Had eggplant on my sandwich which worked really well

Breakfast Delight

By masseffect88 |

Visited this place after being recommended by a local for breakfast and was not disappointed. I had a lovely breakfast bagel which was excellent value, cooked fresh and piping hot. Came back a day later to have lunch and was not disappointed again. Great selection of food on the buffet which was pay by weight and again very reasonable.

A Real Gem!

By MMMH |

Tasty, well-priced food served in very clean surroundings. Everything is prepared fresh in front of you. Wonderful selection. Well located place for visiting Cirle Line Tours on Pier 84 or Intrepid Museum.

fabulous choices

By Amber M |

we stopped in to get some sandwiches to take on our boat tour but i wish we had gone a second time as they had so many choices from hot food to compose your own rolls. make sure you know what you want to order before stepping up as they are super fast and super efficient.

Excellent food, great selection

By a_road_more_traveled |

My team and I go here for lunch most days when we're working at Javits. I always look forward to my lunch break. Between made to order salads, hot food, pizza, sandwiches, bakery and pre packed foods, you're seriously set. Even for picky eaters. It's quick, always ready , and very yummy.

Wow, what a gem!

By Cindy H |

Wow, what a gem. We ventured out on our first morning in the city and found this place around the corner from our hotel. We got started late so we missed breakfast. This restaurant had everything we could have wanted. It had great buffet area with everything you could want in addition to items to order from the grill. We didn't see all the other food that was available until we looked around while waiting for our food at the grill. I wish we could have found ourselves back here for another meal but that wasn't on the agenda. Really happy to know that this was around the corner from our hotel and provided such a wide variety of options. They have a little dining area to sit and eat upstairs but most people got their food to go.

Day or night....its perfect!!!

By Tyler M |

I happen to have a place in the building so I am biased but I've had breakfast, lunch, and dinner here numerous times as well as multiple snacks at any time of the day or night....always good, always fresh, always variety.

Great Choice

By PhileasFogg4th |

Excellent establishment, very wide choice of food, healthy and indulgent, acted as my local juice bar during trip.

Best food market

By Kate I |

Our friends rented a room close to this market and we met to grab some snacks, thinking it was just a grocery store. Well it’s way more than that, everything we ate here was excellent. We ended up, eating here 3-4 times on our trip. I’m missing it now that I’m home. The made to order breakfasts were fresh and cheap, like $4 for two eggs, bacon and cheese on a bagel. The fruit on the buffet was gorgeous and delicious. I opted for the hot food buffet every time we went. They had so many choices it was hard to choose. The quality of the food was excellent too. Sesame chicken, fried rice, ribs, sautéed veggies, fresh gorgeous salads. They offer many different foods everyday. The soups were great as well. Super hot soup. Coffee was great as well. They also offer everything on the buffet and all fresh made sushi and deli items at 1/2 prices between 9pm and 5am. It’s NYC you’ll be up late looking for delicious food guaranteed. All staff was excellent as well!!!

Great food

By Marianne H |

Great food to take away or eat in 24 hours. Lots of soups, we recommend the tomato and basil. Also of the hot foods the salmon is very tasty and best of all are the salads with a wonderful selection of vegetables and also salmon prawn and chicken all chopped with a variety of dressings. The shop also has a wide selection of groceries. It’s true it’s pricy but worth it.

Outstanding

By BusdriverPhil |

This place is on the corner of 11th Avenue and 42nd Street. This place has a large buffet of hot and cold foods including fresh cut veggies and fruit. Five or six soups at all time. There is also a fresh salad counter, a sandwich counter and shot platter counter. Combo soup and sandwich specials are also available. Just a short two blocks from the Jacob Javits Convention Center. Groceries are also available. This place is always popular with lunch crowd.

Nice and healthy options

By bfhominid |

Very conveniently located near the Javits so I used it for lunches whilst attending a conference. Many options, including a buffet bar, which allows you to chose what you want to eat. I was looking for gluten free so this was just perfect. It is also a supermarket so you can stock up on produce as well. Open until very late. Limited seating spaces but I've always managed to find a space. Maybe today I won't... :-)

Great spot for breakfast

By Andrea V |

Thanks that we didn't have breakfast included in our hotel, we discovered Sunac right at the corner and it was really a cool spot! Smoothies are great, all made with natural fruits and you can choose many different combinations. Bagels and muffins were very good too

Great

By foodcritic222 |

The store was a little packed, and there's not much seating at all for it's affluence, but if you're looking for quality, inexpensive food that you can take to-go, then this is the place to go.

Generic breakfast place... good for a quick bite

By ck96 |

Wide choice of breakfasty stuff available, from bagels to sausage and eggs to fruits and yogurt... nothing which stands out though. But it's good for a quick bite and decent food

Nice place

By Mark T |

We happened to stop while walking by. The food and prices were very good. We ate in their small seating area. It was very good. We had sandwiches and wraps, but there was a great variety of other items.

A nice place to grab a quick bite to eat.

By Silkartist |

I needed a quick bite to eat and found this place close to the Circle Line Cruise Terminal. Nice selection of food on the hot bar. Very tasty and fresh. The place was also very clean with friendly staff.

Lots to Eat

By BusdriverPhil |

This place has a ton of options. There's a hot food buffet, cold buffet, there's pre made sandwiches or they will custom make a sandwich. The menu also has breakfast available. I had a variety of foods from the hot food buffet and everything was delicious. You fill your container and take it to the register and pay by the weight, approximately $8.00 per pound. Every ounce of it was well worth it.

Nice Deli

By Giuseppe S |

I live just opposite to it. If you do not want to cook or you are in a hurry, it is a convenient location where to buy your lunch or do your breakfast. Wide choice of food from asian to american and good pastry. Prices very affordable and it looks like a clean place.

Popular with tourists

By Ohheyman |

This supermarket successfully caters to tourists drawn to the area by the nearby ferries, the Intrepid, and hotels. It has lots of high-quality food preprepared and a comfortable area to enjoy it before you are on your way. If you are staying nearby for longer, the grocery store component is a handy place to stock up.

Good food, rude staff

By Alex B |

Two Brits visiting nyc for this first time met with very rude impatient breakfast bar staff. We enquired on the food, we're ignored and then given the wrong order. When we enquired we were ignored again. Appreciate this is fast paced nyc but a little courtesy goes a long way.

Way over priced!!

By MishkaPiska |

Great location offering a deli, hot and cold sandwiches made to order, a varied buffet and mini market items. Located with limited competition nearby and they know it so be prepared for ridiculously high prices. You are better off walking two more blocks for more reasonable prices for the the same items.

very good

By Hans H |

Went there before and after the circle line cruise..it was hard to decide because all the food just looked great.. I tried a spicy tuna rice bowl, a potatoe spinach soup and also a super salad to go.. Loved everything. And the prices are more than fair for all this fresh stuff. Please open up in Brooklyn :)

Amazing - Every Time!

By Shamrock Charters |

I travel a lot for work, I actually work in tourism. I have learned what to look for when needing to meet needs of group meals, quick snacks etc... this place has healthy food, comfort food, non perishables and a fresh buffet each time I visit. I have sent my friends and family here. I’m writing this from inside Sunac, it’s 115 degrees outside and I just snacked on shrimp, avocado and cucumber from the cold buffet. It’s clean, staff are amazing, and whether you want to sit down and enjoy your meal, do groceries, or eat on the run...there’s no other place like Sunac. It’s a highlight for my industry.

Amazing hidden food corner

By Jinu13 |

Stumbled across this place. It has a smorgasbord of delicious food at really good prices. As well as the deli and bakery they make a lot of food fresh too. There are some seats it you want to sit in. Perfect for breakfast or lunch

Amazing selection of healthy food options!

By mariediballen |

A great gem of a restaurant near the Hudson River! Great hot food counter, salad and fruit bar! Freshly ground coffe and bakery! So much to choose from!

Great place near Holiday Inn

By sls92249 |

Great place around corner from Holiday Inn to pick up buffet deli items. Clean and fresh foods and large variety.

Good coffee and muffin stop

By Bartonbears |

On our walk around the area we stopped by for coffee and a muffin. Both were good. Service was quick and there was ample seating to eat in. I was impressed with the variety of food available throughout the store. You would be sure to find something to your taste.

Do not miss close to javits!

By jejen8080 |

I could spend hours in here browsing the shelves of interesting and unusual produce. I always get the tossed salad when I'm in town in the javits for an exhibition so much better to walk down to here than pay for food inside (it's horrific) Don't miss

Convenience

By couplearoundtheworld |

Same concept as Whole Foods, quite expensive to say the least, but it is organic after all. The small store has pretty much every essential that one might need, inc a coffee area and a buffet (fried chicken wings are awesome). Wouldn't recommend to buy everything here as it's double the price compared to everywhere else.

A little,chinese treasure

By SJc |

Mainly used by locals and workmen this eatery/ mini market this eatery offers many freshly cooked dishes across a very full range. You actually pay by weight! It is both takeaway and eat in-basic tables and chairs. It is clean. It is busy across lunch time. I used it a couple of times and tasted the most amazing chicken noodle soup I have ever had. The little market is crammed packed full of fruit and veg and all the things you only read about in expensive cookery books/magazine. It was a delight just to walk around it. If you are visiting the Intrepid or going on one of the scenic cruises this little eatery is a must before going or after or even both.

Great variety but unorganized

By Peach🍑Tacos |

Great variety of different food from Japanese to Korean to salads to "eat by the pound" to sandwiches. Wish they had signs to state which counter was which food.

Outstanding Deli and Natural Food Selection with some nice surprises

By Alex |

Whenever I'm in New York I stay in Clinton/Hell's kitchen and eat here daily. Good choice of sandwiches, and a nice selection of drinks and fresh food, plus some nice Japanese and Korean options. Reasonably priced and quality but certainly not cheap(but better $15 for a nice fresh meal than $45 for a mediocre restaurant meal!) Recommended.

open 24/7 with a great range of fruit, veg, staples and hot & cold self serve

By mouse1002 |

We are visiting NYC and lucky enough to be staying in a friend's apartment on W42nd and have stumbled across this gem. It is pumping with locals buying a tasty and convenient breakfast, lunch and dinner. $7.99/lb for serlf serve hot and cold, and from memory $3.99/lb for soup. There is a fab range and great sushi. It's by no means super cheap - it aint not 99c pizza slice - but it is relatively cheap for a midtown meal. You can eat in or take away.

Wish we had found this earlier in our trip

By henrythenavigator |

Great food, and what a huge selection. We visited on our last day for a very late lunch prior to going to the airport. Very good food and a reasonable price. Worth the visit.

Perfect place for everyone

By dalia s |

I am a solo traveler and didn't want to cook for myself. I stayed in the neighborhood for 3 weeks and never had to eat the same thing twice. The food was always fresh and tasty. My dinner never exceeded 10 dollars. The place was always clean I fully recommend it to families and budget travelers. Hooray! I took a star off because of the pricees on some items mainly in the groceries section.

Excellent

By KirstyMcCormick |

I visited this deli frequently when staying in NYC for work. The quality of food is excellent. I'd recommend the buffet, and also the sushi and soups. Great value for money.

Fantastic find!!

By 2396 |

Myself and my husband recently visited NY. The restaurant in our hotel was undergoing a refurb so we were advised to use this place as it was nearby. The choice of food is unbelievable. It made it hard at times to decide what to have. Food always lovely, staff extremely friendly, place spotless and all reasonably priced!!! Would highly recommend.

Amazing Selection of Organic Food for Lunch / Dinner at a Bargain Price

By HT0375 |

We were at the Javits Center for a conference and didn't want to eat the junk food inside. So we looked for the nearest place with good lunch selection & Sunac was perfect! This is a whole foods type of store with a great lunch selection (salads, hot food, fruits, sandwiches, deli, etc). The meal was about $13-$15/person with a drink. The choice is fantastic. Everything is so healthy & tasty, it's a true gem for a bargain price given NYC. Their salmon is fresh & perfectly cooked. Their chicken too with different kinds of cooking (asian style, fried, crusted, roasted). They have a nice selection of vegetables & rice & soups. Great selection of freshly cut / diced fruits too. You really can't go wrong with this place. We ended eating there everyday for lunch since it is so close to the Javits Center. A true Gem! Don't let the "shopping market" look deceive you. You get food that's better than whole foods inside.

Finally a classy place with great variety

Stumbled on this place when heading back from the water taxi piers. What a find. Great variety and quality. Not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. After so many beige meals in NYC, it's an oasis of colour and flavour. Try it out. Does hot food and has a supermarket range of snacks, fruit and beverages.

Best Choice when near the Javits Center

By Maine-ahh |

An amazing place with many high quality choices in a small area. They have a hot and cold buffet where you pay by the weight - including lots of excellent choices such as sesame chicken, whole salmon, along with fresh fruit and steamed veggies. They have sushi, hot paninis and cold sandwiches made with Boars Head meats, pizza, salads made to order along with a great selection of drinks. Just go out the front door of the center, turn left and walk about 2 blocks north to find it. You'll get high quality food at less than you'd pay for an inferior product inside the convention center.

Are you SURE its a HOT buffet?

By F&W Critic |

We stopped in after our sightseeing cruise around the statue of Liberty today and it looked pretty great at first glance (mind you we were famished). There were a tonne of choices, from gelato to smoothies, salads, cold or hot buffet, desserts, drinks and a full grocery store. We decided on the hot buffet at $7.99 / pound. Everything on the hot side was either dry and overcooked or STONE cold. Damn. What a let down because everything looked awesome and fresh. In hindsight, should of had the custom made salad or sandwich choice. Mind you the tomato basil soup WAS great, however I didn't taste the basil in it at all. The cold buffet salad stuff looked good - stick with that.

Awesome selection and food!

I had the best sandwich I've ever eaten in this place. My sandwich had crusted olives and cheese on the bun and was to die for. Sorry I can't recall what it was called. There is so much selection in this place that no one will go away unhappy. There is a grocery associated with it as well. Prices were also very reasonable. Seating can be found in a nearby park.

Fantastic deli with seating

By Robert Scriven |

Great friendly deli. Excellent food and has seating. We used it for breakfast. Good value. Only problem was Sunday when much reduced menu, no pancakes.

A great place for lunch with superb quality food.

Walked to 'Sunac' from the Javits Centre when in New York for an exhibition as it was just a couple of blocks. Sunac is a deli / specialist food market which offers a wide variety of high quality produce. From wraps and sandwiches to sushi and seasame chicken it all looked great. I had a chipolte chicken wrap and some fresh fruit (which you pay for by weight at $8.99 / lb). Prices are medium, my wrap was US$7.45 and you can eat in or take away. In summary a great place for lunch where you could eat everyday for a month and not need to have the same thing twice.

Dropped in for lunch... what a gem!

By Shekagoer |

While walking to explore a few of the city's neighborhoods, we worked up an appetite. My husband wanted breakfast, I wanted lunch and because we stumbled into Sunac, we were as satisfied as we were lucky. The food couldn't be fresher and everything is prepared, seasoned and presented perfectly... including the items on the buffet. Granted, we arrived at 11a.m. so everything had just been set out and was untouched but while eating in the small area upstairs, we had a direct view of the kitchen during the lunch hour rush. First, every kitchen employee used the utmost care and sanitary practices, constantly changing their plastic gloves whenever switching to a non food prep function. We watched in awe as they cooked homemade soups, chicken entrees and deli sandwiches to order. The salmon, Caesar salad and green beans with almonds from the buffet were honestly among the best I've ever had - even from top rated, white tablecloth restaurants. And to top it off, we spent around $25 for a substantial amount of exceptional food. Definitely, a great spot for a casual breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack. This place needs to top the Cheap Eats list.

Good for food

Sunac Natural market is a good place for shopping but you can also get food and dine in if you like. Food is good and not too pricy.

delicious, healthy, delicious

I loved the variety and freshness of everything. You can find anything for any taste. The place is clean and organized and the service is courteous and efficient.

Great deli, fresh food

By becca6791 |

This is a great deli, ideally placed near the hotel I was staying in, so had food from here a couple of times. They have several different counters providing different foods such as sandwiches. The best bit for me through was the self service area. This had a variety of hot and cold foods, plus fresh fruit. This is sold by weight, so you can have as much as you want. All the different foods I tried from here were tasty, and they were replenished frequently. They also do several different tasty, although huge, individual portions of dessert. Great for a reasonably priced lunch.

Good food good service

By HarryHHarrie |

We had food in here twice over our vacation, their sandwiches are huge and the hot buffet serve your self is really excellent, you can have anything as it’s all done by weight, I had sesame seed chicken with noodles which was delicious, and they have s great store with loads of variety. Well worth a visit

Great for things you should have picked up at Trader Joes but forgot :-p

By DrDanWest |

Sunac is open 24hrs and that justifies the expensive pricing in my opinion. 24/7 you can get pretty much anything you need in groceries, coffee, dessert or snacks. It's a fantastic service and as I live next door, very convenient!

Great stop

By Trevor P |

With the variety of food on the buffet, it was a perfect little stop as we were strolling by. Pricing was pretty good and the food quality was very good too.

Good value

Food here is pretty good for the price and quickness. I would recommend the sushi and the hot bar. They have lots of options so might as well try what you want - can't go wrong!

So much choice and so tasty

By John |

A place for everybody. Box of food, Mexican, Asian, healthy, etc... Whatever you are looking for is there. Price are low so you can easily eat for less than 10$. Un super endroit adapté à tout le monde. Plat préparé au poid, Mexicain, asiatique, bio, etc... On peut facilement y manger pour moins de 10$.

Oh, what a find! A total treasure of a place. TRULY EXCELLENT!

I was staying at an apartment nearby and my host recommended Sunac when we were discussing where to get decent quality freshly cooked food in the area, as opposed to the inevitable mass-produced, over-processed chemical offerings at the like of the many local franchises. He recommended Sunac, a local deli, which was five minutes walk away and to be honest, it was so good I would have walked for an hour over broken glass to go there. It is a 24/7 deli where they also sell an absolutely amazing amount of fresh food and freshly cooked food to suit just about every possible taste and cuisine. Salads, sandwiches, sushi, soups, chinese, thai, italian, mediterranean, indian, you name it, it's probably there. They do stir fried meals in front of you, and there is a salad buffet, a fruit buffet and a mains buffet, the selection from which changes daily. It is all homecooked and terrific quality. The deli is always full so the turnround of cooked food is quick. You pay by the weight of your box of food, and you can take out or eat in. Eat in is 'share a table' but most people take out. Queuing at the checkout is quick and easy, they always have several operatives working so service is very slick. Out the back is a supermarket the likes of which I have never seen before. A vast selection of absolutely everything, and excellent quality fresh fruit and vegetables. I spent half an hour just wandering around looking at everything and still coming across things I'd never seen before. It must be a nightmare trying to make a choice! This is a wonderful place and I ate there every day during my stay in Manhattan. The prices are very reasonable and I am happy to give this the highest recommendation.

Great breakfasts

Great food. Lovely and fresh and open 24/7. Breakfasts are amazing a great start to a day's sightseeing around the big apple. Staff are chatty and friendly and the prices are reasonable. Sandwiches are amazing!!!! Enjoy.

Wide Variety of Delicious Food

By alb811 |

Probably the widest variety of food available. They cater to everyone and the food tastes great. Buffet is a great option. You pay for the weight of the food.

Huge range very tasty

By Thewayside |

Found this on our holiday in New York when we were looking for somewhere to eat near the circle line ferry tour. There is an absolutely huge range of foods both to buy like a supermarket and prepared foods to eat right there. They make fresh sandwiches, pizzas and wraps and have a bakery too. The best part though is the buffet. A wide array of foods from many cultures all available to self serve and charged by the lb. Really good value especially for you meat eaters who can fill up a whole carton with amazingly succulent chicken. My 2 favourites were the Mongolian chicken and the meatballs, but there is so much to choose from. They have chicken, beef, fish, rices, pastas, potatoes and more all in different spices and sauces. There's also a fruit buffet too. A nice find in a great location and a really good price.

WHAT A FIND! Absolutely amazing

By Joe S |

This is my first 5 star (I think) and I've written a few of these. Sunac is a deli/shop/all you can eat under one roof. Sushi, salads, paninis, hot plates, deserts..... Everything. While honeymooning I was expecting restaurants every night but while exploring NYC we came across this deli be accident and had lunch. It was sooooooo good having everything under one roof. Finally I could have something I liked and the wife something totally different. The price was a fraction (approx 1/3) of the cost of the restaurants we went to and a bonus when my wife said see preferred it here. Needless to say we came here three more times before leaving. If we come back to NYC then this is our first call.

If you are ......

If you are really hungry or want diversity in offering, SUNAC is the place. Also a market to take some items to your hotel room.

Best salad of my trip to NYC!

By TeddingtonAudiTT |

I was recommended Sunac by a friend when I visited NYC from London last week. I opted for the mix leaves where you add 6 toppings and a dressing for under $10. The salad tasted absolutely delicious and I wish we had such a option back in the UK. Pleasant staff and great selection in the shop. If you fancy something slightly healthier than your standard carb laden snacks in NYC I can't recommend this place enough!

WE need one in California

By trueblu72 |

I wanted to stay in NY if ONLY for Sunac Everything you could want that store had. Great food and everything was fresh from sandwiches to sushi to great breakfast options but they had a buffet bar where you could pick up anything from fruit to veggies to soups to mac n cheese to salads. Seriously, we need one of these in Cali! A bit busy at time and seating was limited but the prices were great especially when traveling on a budget.

Great Deli Market with Great Food

Great Deli Market with Great Food. On the way to see the Intrepid we stopped here for breakfast, as not far from our hotel in West 38th street. We were recommended it by a kind security guard near by. Reasonable prices for New York and lots of choice. Nice and fresh, with live cooking infront of you. Something here for everyone. Chose a breakfast roll $8.95 £7.05 GBP 🇬🇧, Orange Juice $2.49 £1.96 GBP🇬🇧 and Coffee $1.99. £1.57 GBP 🇬🇧. We came back here quite a few times.

Best Smoothies Ever!!

By BluefieldsGyal |

This place was recommend to me by the front desk at my hotel. It was my first time in NYC and I wanted to try something healthy and economical. He suggested Sunac Market. I fell in love with the Mango Tango smoothie and enjoyed their daily selections of fresh food. I had breakfast here twice and it was made to order on the grill. Will definitely come back when I am in town.

Great healthy reasonable lunch for the Big Apple

Enjoyed a healthy, fresh, delicious lunch & drink form this market to-go spot. They do have some seating, but limited. Good service OUTSTANDING food. Wish they were all over NYC!

nothing better to start your day

We got up super early because of the 12h jetlag and we were looking for a place to start the day with healthy food. This is the place! Fresh juices, coffee, ready to eat food and grocery at the back.

Great choices of food, great prices, great taste

By richg635 |

While visiting the Javitts center for the 2014 Auto show we were looking for a place to eat that offered good food in a clean environment that wasn't the typical outrageous Manhattan priced food. While walking the up 11th avenue, just a short 2 blocks from the Javitts Center we noticed the "market> There was a man outside handing out coupons. One of the lunch offerings was "half a sandwich, wrap or panini AND soup for $7.99." I don't recall the second lunch offering but it was similarly priced. When we entered we found a bustling combination deli/café/market that smelled great. They offered just about anything you could want (outside of a sit down full service restaurant). It was very clean. They had sandwich/deli counters, hot soups, and a Chinese food bar. All of the food looked great. They also had desserts in a little bakery setting, as well as the market area. The complete store was actually the full city block (on the avenue, between streets). My son decided on an Italian Panini (I don't remember all of the ingredients, but had a taste and it was very good). I opted for a grilled chicken sandwich. It came on a ciabotta type roll with fresh mozzarella, pesto mayo, and roasted red peppers. It was excellent. Note: the sandwiches were pre-made and in the deli counter. I thought that was the only way to buy them. It turns out you can order any sandwich you want, with/without certain items. There also is a menu displayed behind the counter. Regardless of how you order, our sandwiches were heated for us, and tasted FRESH. As said earlier they were great tasting. It was perfect for a quick lunch. Almost as good as the sandwiches were the prices - $6.95 each. How about this - bottles of Poland Springs water for $1.25 each. (I paid $3.85 for the same bottle inside the Javitts center). Finally, we were able to great 2 window counter seats. We were able to see easterly up 42nd street as well as both ways on 11th avenue. Watching the different people and traffic passing by was better then sitting by a park or water site. The next time I am anywhere in the vicinity of this café, I will make it a point to eat here
