Supper is the perfect place for a family to celebrate a special occasion. We were a party of 10 celebrating a family birthday and we were so happy with our experience. Price is per person, and we ordered a bunch of appetizers for the table. We had vine ripe tomatoes, roasted garlic, and sauteed mushrooms. Everything was great. For the salad course we shared the mixed green salad and the beet salad. Both were very fresh and delicious. The beet salad was especially good. We also shared spaghetti pomodoro and the priest strangler for our pasta course. The priest strangler was a marinara sauce with ricotta cheese. Both were excellent. We were extremely full by the time the main courses came, we were barely able to eat. We did take home most of the entrees. I did manage to taste the chicken parmigiana and the roasted vegetables. It was way too much food. Their wine list is pretty extensive and we had a variety of good reds and whites for the table. Prices are very reasonable. It was really a perfect place for us. Just be aware that the restaurant does not accept credit cards. We knew in advance, so this was not an issue. Wish I would have taken a few pictures of the dishes. They were truly beautiful presentations.

I have been to Supper quite a few times for the fantastic dinners - really some of the best Italian food I have had outside of Italy itself. This was my first time to have brunch at Supper and it was fantastic. My friend and I shared an egg dish with mushrooms and a BLT made with humanly raised pork. Then we have a terimisu for dessert. Every single item was beyond delish! I really look forward to going back again soon.

Anything you order is delicious. And i have been to Italy, but feel that the food here is so much better then anyting i ate while I was there! I recommend the polenta, & the meatballs served in a brown gravy. The place is cozy, dim lighting and they do have a couple of outdoor tables in the warmer months. service is quick. If you cant get in here, i recommend trying their sister restaurant lil frankies just a few blocks away. my favorite restaurants in NY.

The service was outstanding - frequent and friendly check-ins by staff. The chicken Parmigiano meal was very good as well. They brought fresh bread plus olive oil with red pepper flakes and white beans to put on top. Cash Only - no credit cards

I loved my experience at Supper. In fact, it was some of the best Italian I've had in NYC and the prices were reasonable. Be warned that it is CASH only!! The food was amazing!! We definitely ordered way too much food. For 8 people, we had multiple kale salads (4), mushroom crostinis (2), mixed salads (2) and burrata over tomatoes (3 orders). We all had entrees ranging from pasta to chicken. Let's not forget the bread. They serve alcohol beyond wine which is wonderful!! At the end of the meal, the waiter gave us free dessert. The music was good, the decor rustic and our waiter was super nice and the staff on top of things!! I would go back in a heartbeat!

Four of us dined at "Supper" in August. After four prosecchi (impersonal service) in the adjacent bar, we proceeded to the restaurant where we were offered either indoor or outdoor seating. What a nice start! So often one is simply marched to a table of management's choice. I've been very remiss in not writing up on this earlier, when I would have remembered everything in detail. What I remember mostly now is our reaction, our impressions. We were seated outside on a balmy August evening, so that in itself was a plus. But it was the natural friendliness of the staff and the equally authentic honest-to-goodness Italian cooking that won us over. It was a very happy experience. Tasty starters, fine pasta, good wine. We had all eaten so well that we said no to desserts. Some minutes later, we were served complimentary desserts because, they said, we were such nice people. Their tiramisù alone was worth the visit. We left the restaurant glowing! Another place to revisit on our (as yet hypothetical) next trip to New York.

The food was great, service was over the top, the wait staff were very attentive to our table. There was a problem with the size of the seating area but in NY you accept that, if you are going to eat at other than the large chain restaurants. The Priest Strangler was a great entree with just the right amount of sauce and sausage on it. Desserts were wonderful just the right way to finish a great meal. This is going to be one of my favorite restaurants upon my return to NYC.

Visited Supper in December 2017 for the first time. Dinner was amazing. The staff was attentive and overall it was a great experience. I liked it sooo much that I asked my husband to go there again for our anniversary, so we flew for the weekend and it was the BEST dinner I ever had. Freshly made pasta, great appetizer, wonderful house wines and dessert to die for! Husband scored big! We told the staff it was our anniversary and they gave us wine and dessert on the house! The space was small and crowded, but the dinner and the staff was so good, I would go again in a heartbeat...all the way from Florida!

A very disappointing meal. We were in and out in an hour - it was meant to be a birthday celebration. It started well with some beans which were tasty. The artichoke salad was very average and the main courses awful. The special lasagne felt like it came from a value supermarket. A plate of 'extraordinary' vegetables had undercooked aubergines which had to be sent back. They made no apology for this. They tried to give us the wrong bottle of wine. Four of us were scrunched up in a tiny booth with insufficient space to eat. It was horribly noisy with constant crashing of plates. Service was not great with plates being taken whilst people were still eating. Altogether a very unpleasant and not cheap evening.

Visited as a last minute trip with family and were not disappointed. Food was exceptional and the service was swift. The atmosphere was very busy so don’t expect a nice quiet chilled one, but we are ok with that! For all those tourists that stick to Times Square and surrounding areas - DO NOT, go here instead.

Several weeks ago we had the pleasure of dining at Supper. We walked right by it because they do not have a sign to indicate it as Supper. I inquired as to why? The nice lady at the door told me they did not ever have a sign. Anyway, it was a small place and we were seated by where a lot of the food is prepared, which was fascinating to see. We started with drinks and appetizers. Octopus and an order roasted garlic was the starting point for us. The octopus was tender and very tasty. The roasted garlic was delicious. From there I ordered Skate Fish. Very delicate and tasty too. Others in my group dined on the chicken parm, gnocchi, pasta dishes and salmon. No complaints, but a lot of chop licking. This is a cash only place, so come prepared. As I left Supper, I said to the nice lady at the door, "I now understand why you don't need a sign." We will be back!

My husband and I recently returned from our honeymoon - a 5-1/2 week road trip around (some of!) the USA. We ate out almost every single night of our trip, and our meal at Supper was hands down the best we had during the whole holiday. We were introduced to Supper by an NYC-native friend who eats there often (and gets their take-out), and we were not disappointed in his recommendation in the slightest. We ate in a dining room out the back, which was on the 'cosy' side, with lots of tables quite close together, but this just made for a great atmosphere. We ordered a few different dishes and shared them between four of us - I can't remember all of them, but the veal meatballs were amazing, as was the spaghetti dish and the chicken special we tried. We washed it all down with a couple of great bottles of red. We just rocked up without a reservation, but I would recommend booking in advance, especially if you're visiting on a weekend or holiday. We arrived late-ish (9pm-ish) on a random Wednesday night in freezing cold January, and the place was packed! Don't miss it!

Excellent Italian food. Fresh made pasta and tomato sauce are outstanding. The wait staff service is attentive. Restaurant is very small and could benefit from a refresh, tables are very close to each other and ambient was very loud when I had dinner with my family (there were 3 birthday parties in adjacent tables). Don't let the looks of the place fool you, the food is excellent and prices are very affordable. Just be aware that this is a CASH ONLY place, however there is an ATM in the convenience store next door.

Had dinner for eight on a cold Saturday night. The place was jumping with an energetic young crowd. We loved the retro decor and the food was amazing. I didn't love my cocktail (a little too sweet and too flat) but the burrata made up for it. Cash only was a bummer, but it was nice that they had seating for our large party that didn't feel sterile and had as much of a Saturday night vibe as the rest of the place.

I had dinner at Supper, which has a nice location just off a busy street. The place seems quite popular and sitting inside and outside is rather nice. The service was very good. While attention is certainly paid for details in terms of dish set-up on the plate, the food is rather average and falls below what one would expect coming in. The soup I had for a starter had an industrious taste. I then had Risotto Pancetta, Parmigiano and Mushrooms. It was ok average though with too much cream in it. Note that they take cash.

Went for dinner Saturday evening, seated right away at the bar. The restaurant was busy inside and out. Wife ordered the veal Milanese, said it was average.I ordered the chicken parm, a special that evening, I left half over. The chicken and the veal were pounded to paper thin thickness, and in my case couldn't handle the sauce and cheese on top. It was a soggy, sloppy mess. Service was indifferent. Cash only. Other reviews mentioned the soggy chicken parm, I recommend ordering something else if you go, I won't be returning

Good meal, however there were no prices listed on the specials and it turned out the specials were overpriced by double. please avoid this restaurant as it is not worth the extreme prices.

I go to Supper every time I visited NYC. It has excellent food and great service. Was there for brunch this time and had the polenta with poached egg, fennel, prosciutto and cheese. Loved the complimentary country bread and beans. They have good coffee as well. When I go for dinner, I usually started off with their -melt in your mouth- Burrata and fresh sliced tomatoes (when available). I've tried different dishes each time and they're all great, especially their pasta dishes. They're all very freshly made. I highly recommend this place. Only downside is - cash only! You have to come prepared, especially if you're paying the total bill.

We were a group of 10 finding it hard to find a venue in the area we needed. Supper provided a large table, high chair for our 2 year old in a nook in the back. We were able to talk and catch up with each other and enjoyed excellent food, wine and service.

I love the concept of this place but the food was unremarkable and the prices were ridiculous for very basic cooking and presentation. Worse, though we had reserved an indoor table we were seated outside next to reeking garbage. When moved inside (after complaining) we were sat at a table that was too small. We had to move again. The waiter was nonchalant and neglectful. The food was just meh. I could get the same for half the price at a diner. The bathrooms were filthy.

Our son and nephew live in NYC, so on a recent trip we took them to dinner at Supper! We were a party of 5 with a 7:00 p.m. reservation. I really like how they have several seatings - it really works at this restaurant. We were seated at a very small bistro sized table and our order was: roasted garlic crostini and mozzarella di bufala. Entrees included Spaghetti LImone, Spahetti Aglio,Priest Stranglers with sausage, Chicken Parmigiana, and Osso Buco. Everything was very good including the service and they kept the wine flowing!

Not great. We had high hopes but when the roasted garlic came out in a bowl full of beans we should have known. The bolognese was pretty bad. Go to Olive Garden or something.

I had never been in a restaurant with a huge mirror with the top tipped outward so you can see everything behind you! Fun! The service was great, and the food OMG. I am not a huge fan of Italian, because I think I know what it tastes like. No I did not. The veggie side dish of tomatoes and eggplant, was so bright I felt like I could hear it. The lemon pasta, when I returned home I attempted to make it, and although it wasn't as good, I think I have the idea. Also the the tiramisu, the creme/mascarpone ratio was different, with I believe more whipped creme than usual, and it was wonderful. How could it not be? There were 2 loud parties of people having a really good time, which made it seem even more fun, that plus our server who cheerfully put up with my machinations trying to pay the bill without our host noticing. That when I found out they don't take credit cards, but money always works.

The first time we ate here, it had been recommended to us by a NYC resident. Great food. Now we go here every time we are in NYC. We sit at the bar because we enjoy watching the chef at work. What a pro! The food is a balance of comfort food and edgy food. A go to place.

Service was horrible! Food was so, so. Drinks very expensive and were not great! Had six people at dinner and nothing that we got was interesting or that great. Skip it! It is all cash so be prepared for a huge cash payout!!

Typical very small Italian restaurant, a little noisy near the kitchen but fun to watch. Great service. The lemon pasta is outstanding. Ask about portion sizes, some are huge, others, not.

This restaurant serves authentic tasty fresh Italian food. Everything is prepared right in front of you. You can stand over the counter top and watch them prepare your meal from scratch. Takes a bit of time but it is worth the wait. Supper is my go to for a late or early dinner. They only take cash and the meals are $$$ so be sure to bring along cash with you. There is outdoor seating which is well sealed and indoor seating which is somewhat limited so you might want to go early or make a reservation. Overall 10 out of 10, highly recommend.

The food at Supper was awesome! Bigger place than i thought! We were walked to the back of the restaurant as it was a very hot day. It was a little empty so lacked in atmosphere but perked up as the day went on. There are tables outside so if you're after that on a nice day, its a perfect spot. Our group were pretty ravenous! We opted for a range of stuff which i sampled a lot of. My favs were the eggs alla parmigiana and Molly's french toast with berries and features a blueberry butter. Be hungry if you're going to eat here! YUM! 3 pay for 2 brunch cocktails went down a treat too. Service wasnt too imposing, slightly on the slow side considering when we arrived it wasnt that busy. We did have to prompt for stuff and felt a little forgotten at times. Overall we had a lovely afternoon... on my next NYC visit i will be there again.

If you're looking for a reliable, tasty, and friendly experience in the East Village, Supper is all of this things (except they take cash only). The food is excellent and yet has no pretensions of greatness; the menu is well-balanced and offers a variety of classic pasta dishes (the basic pasta al limone and tagliatelle are my favorites here), salads, and meats (i personally love the veal scalopine). Their appetizers are also excellent and consistent; i've been going to Supper for over ten years and it's always as good as I ever remember it. The crostini are delicious, especially of you like pâté. Portions are generous but not ridiculous and service is generally friendly. Oh, and if you love wine, they have an incredibly deep wine list for a neighborhood restaurant. You can't go wrong going to Supper. Attention europeans: it's open until 1am on weekends and they WILL serve you late. Enjoy!

I stumbled upon Supper online while searching for an authentic neighborhood Italian joint for my kids' first time in the city. It was a perfect introduction! We showed up loaded with shopping bags and appeared to be the only tourists. Regardless, we were treated like regulars with nothing but patient service and helpful suggestions. The server was a pro who answered all our questions and orchestrated our meal based on his recommendations for literally everything. The cocktails and wine were well paired with what we ordered and generous. The lemon pasta, kale gnocchi and lasagna were all fantastic (best gnocchi I have ever had)! The kids got to watch the chef at work with our table close to the open kitchen. It was loud and crowded with deliveries going out constantly...which only added to the fun experience. My only regret is that I don't live in the neighborhood to order the gnocchi weekly! Do yourself a favor and visit Supper (with cash!)!

They do not take dinner reservations, but we were willing to sit outside facing the (not-so-attractive) street so our group of 5 was seated within 10 minutes. Our waiter was charming and helpful when we asked for menu advice. The food was MOUTH WATERINGLY delicious. We all gorged on the complimentary fresh crusty bread served with garlicy white beans in herbed olive oil. Salads were perfect. We had the mixed salad bowl (Very fresh interesting greens. Two of us shared a small bowl and it was plenty.) The kale salad was also amazing. For entrees we had SPAGHETTI POMODORO E BASILICO - flavorful and delicious. SPAGHETT Aglio, Olio e Peperoncino (Spaghetti, olive oil and red pepper flakes) and the AGLIATELLE al Ragu Bolognese. Pasta was cooked to the perfect al dente. Everyone LOVED their food. A nice bottle of wine and we were happy campers. We will certainly be back. Hope to sit inside next time. Quite charming. Bring cash. They do not take credit cards. One suggestion to the restaurant: put signs on your restroom doors. It shouldn't be that hard to figure out where the bathrooms are!

Fresh delicious pasta. There was a wait and it’s not cheap but it is very tasty and nice for a special occasion if noisy

My husband and I stumbled upon this charming restaurant while visiting New York. It was so good, we loved the beans served with the bread, the lasagna and the mushroom pasta were both amazing. It’s been over a month and we are still taljeg about how good the food was. The place was so charming and the staff was just right, met all our needs without being annoying. Definitely will try to return if we find ourselves in New York again.

Besides my joke, it was a very nice place to eat. Simple food but great. A large wine selection. Do not hesitate to taste.

This place was super small! You had to sit only inches away from other customers. But the food was amazing. Even the simple things tasted great. The staff was also very friendly. Minus one or two lazy ones.

The mozarella, tomato and basil ensalada is to die for. The house made pasta was prepared to perfection and the complimentary Tiramisu melted in my mouth. Small and out of the way in the East Village, it is worth looking for.

Everything was delicious. I had the pink lemonade made on the spot and the day's special. The rest of my family was very pleased with what they had. The only downside is that the place is packed, but the waiters are still very efficient.

Party of six, we all left satisfied with food and service, seafood risotto and roasted chicken were best meals, bottles of wine at a fair price, cash only!

We went here with local friends and it is not a location we would have found on our own, but it was nice and the food was good. Many of the items on the menu was vegetarian, but I did manage to find a meat dish, that was good and tasty.

I love this place. I have been multiple times with friends, family, and boyfriend. The atmosphere is cozy and casual. The Burrata is amazing, but unfortunately it is only a special when it is available. The dishes are pretty simple, but done really well and the wine list is extensive. There is also a cute little bar next door to have wine and wait for a table. The only thing I'd point is is they do not take reservations for small parties (less than 4) and it is cash only.

Supper delivers a full bodied Italian dining experience. It's proper old school. The place was packed in the week when we went for dinner - we had a table in the back room and I especially liked that. Service was good, food was prompt. Do go and see how it works for you !

It was recommended to me by a friend who lives nearby. It was quaint and rustic. The best part was that it felt like I was walking into someone's Italian home! Seriously! They treated us like family. In fact, I was with my daughter (8) and she just wanted spaghetti - and I have to admit that it was the BEST I have ever had....seriously. Just get a appetizer size and try it. Great prices and I can't wait to go back.

David made our experience truly amazing. He went above and beyond to make us feel very special. The food was incredible and the environment was warm, romantic, and cozy.

We traveled all the way to the lower east side to eat at an entirely different place only to arrive half an hour before they closed and they would not serve us. So, we ended up at Supper because it is open late and was actually still busy when we arrived at 11pm. I figured we'd be lucky if it was decent since it was so late and not many places were still serving dinner. They have outdoor seating under some heat lamps, which is nice, and a few tables up front. They also have a back room, which is where we were. There were 2 large parties in there and it was atomic decibel level loud. 20-somethings drunk screaming. We needed to either move tables, or leave. Fortunately one of the parties left right after so we were able to shift over a bit and that made it better. Their olive oil is so good and we ordered their garlic crostini. Lovely grilled bread, with some, spreadable garlic. Delicious. I had that Spaghetti Cacio e pepe, which is similar to a carbonara. It was sooooo good. My husband had the parpadelle with mushrooms and I've never seen him so pleased with a pasta dish. He actually sent his regards to the cooks. It was after midnight when we finished and they were still letting some people sit. We were stuffed but the sweet waiter brought us a complimentary slice of their chocolate cake dessert, which was like a warm brownie, with whipped cream and fruit. I could barely eat another bit but it was delicious. It IS cash only so be ready for that. There is an ATM next door, but it helps to know beforehand (they print it on their menus, too). They have a rotating risotto for every day of the week so next time I will be trying that.

If you want white table cloths, fine china and silverware, this is not the place to go. If you want really great food prepared by really talented chefs and a professional but relaxed waitstaff, then this is your place. We went for Brunch on Sunday and the food was outstanding from the beet salad with robiola cheese to the chicken parm sandwich to the crostino with mushrooms trifolati stracchino & poached egg. We were lucky to have a table right next to the open kitchen so we could watch the chefs prepare the meals. We will definitely go back, next time for dinner.

What a great restaurant. Out NY friends brought us here as it is theie "go to" place to to. I say simple because their menu is not overwelming. The food is homey and so tasty. The service was friendly and attenrive.

Very cool place with a nice staff and open kitchen. Great breakfast, coffee, bacon, simple omelet. Went for Sunday brunch and would go back again in a heartbeat.

Not that thrilled about the area we had to walk through to get to this place, but it was a unique restaurant with an eclectic menu full of interesting choices. We decided to sit outside under the heaters because it was SO loud inside and we had a lot of talking to do and didn't want to shout at each other. We started with the Mushrooms Trifolati and the Black Kale Panzanella - SO good! Grilled Salmon, Extraordinary Platter of Vegetables, Grilled Polenta and Veal Scallopini were all good, as was the assortment of sorbets for dessert. All was reasonably priced. The one negative was that our table outside was right next to the hostess station. She was literally right on top of us and essentially listened to our entire dinner conversation. I know its NYC and you have to expect some degree of crampedness and lack of privacy, but this was slightly uncomfortable. Wouldn't stop me from going back, just might sit at a different table...

Pro's: the white bean salad served gratis was delicious . Calamari outstanding. Avocado salad delicious Cons: this restaurant main dishes just didn't add up to the hype. The chicken parm was just adequate. The lemon pasta was good not great. Also, I hate when restaurants have a special page and they don't list the price. Additionally, a 20 0/0 tip was added to the bill (we were a party of 8) which I understand but we did notice this was there practice on the menu. Bring cash as no credit cards are accepted.

I would have loved to given this place a great review, but I didn’t even get to try the food!!! I’ve heard nothing but great things about this place, until it was my time to try it out. We arrived prior to our reservation at 7pm and the host/hostess was no where to be found. The host finally showed up after showing a couple in front of us where they would be seated for the evening. We were informed we had to eat outside (under a covered awning) or at a communal table. Since we had reservation and it is November we were not pleased that it was being suggested that we sit outside despite the heat lamps. What is the point of a reservation if you aren’t going to be able to sit inside the restaurant? My wife has been here before and said the food was great...however this time, the service was awful...don’t bother, this is NY and there are a million restaurants just as good that would have accommodated us. And the worst part is, the host couldn’t have cared less to try and be accommodating. Take your money...(cash only at that) else where!!!!

Really enjoyed the Italian food at this restaurant down in the East Village. Service was good, but the food is the star. It’s very heavy so be prepared for that but delicious pasta. It’s on the expensive side for the East Village but not bad for Manhattan. I highly recommend it. One note they only take cash.

The food was very good (4 stars) but the service was absolutely terrible bringing my rating down. The waiter required 15 minutes to acknowledge our presence with a short welcome and a what do you want? We were a large table and the waiter was guaranteed 20% tip no matter how bad the service was that night. Usually restaraunts will require a 15% tip and you can add more which is fine by me but supper automatically adds 20% for a large group. There was no service to begin with. He never asked how the food was. Never stopped by to say anything other than what do you want. Food was good but its frustrating when the service is non existent.

We were very excited to have brunch here as we were told the food and space were excellent! My goat cheese and kale omelette was the worst omelette I have ever had... my friend ordered the pancakes and she could believe the price they charge for 2 mediocre pancakes. Coffee was decent, mimosas needed more OJ. The decor was cute but there is dust everywhere on all the top bottles and chandeliers...the restaurant didn’t feel clean. I was really upset this fell short as we had such high expectations based on reviews. Maybe they are better known for their Italian dinners????

Lovely restaurant in the East Village. Food was delicious and service was great. We booked and I would definitely recommend this as we got there at 7 and people were already queuing for tables. They do a great garlic bean appetiser on the house which was a lovely touch and utterly delicious! It has a really relaxed vibe and you're not rushed at all even though people are queuing up. As people said before though, it is cash only so make sure you have enough!

The included starter is oil infused with spices and whole white beans to spread on your crusty bread. Lemon pasta is a must, but share so you can order another dish. My Kale Panzanella was made with grilled whole wheat crusty bread and was delicious. There is a daily special and it was Osso Buco on Sunday which my companion said he enjoyed. The salmon which was sliced very thin, tagliata, and topped with arugula, appeared to be farmed salmon, which is not one of my favorites, but my friend said it was good. It is much larger inside than one would think with seating next door, in the back and outside. Downstairs there is a room for large groups. My friends live in NYC so they have many options. This is one of my friends favorite restaurants in the city. It is casual and rustic, not fancy. They also serve lunch. They take reservations but you can walk in as well. Take CASH as they do not take credit cards.

I go here about once a year. It's good, not amazing, but very good. The prices are average - it's not expensive but it's not cheap. I typically expect slightly lower prices for places like this but I think their popularity allows for slightly higher pricing, as well as the LES being more hip these days. The place is on the small side and slightly cramped, not unlike other restaurants in the area. They have a second room with a bar which is where I ate. There are some tables outside which seems like a pleasant experience. The staff is courteous and prompt. The food is very good Italian food - I always get priest stranglers which is kind of like elongated cavatelli, like a long and skinny shell shape. The pasta was perfectly cooked, the marinara sauce was amazing and the ricotta was very creamy and delicious. I added on the optional sausage and got two good sized links which were mild - they were very good but nothing outstanding about them. I ordered a house-made lemonade and it was terrible - very watered down and hardly sweet, it tasted like another fruit may have been added a little (to give it pink color) but I could be wrong. It tasted not much different from water with a lemon wedge in it. And it was 4 bucks. I don't mind spending 4, 5 or more on a drink but it has to be at least good, if not great, and this was just bad. I preferred drinking my water and didn't even finish this overpriced lemonade. They fill up quick and are a popular spot because their food is very good and not expensive (although not cheap). It is a nice place if you can get seated without too much of a wait. I will definitely go back, but I don't go there too often overall. The menu is a little limited in my opinion, but I don't think that's a huge problem because their offerings are good and the quality really is very good. I'd recommend this place but I wouldn't say to go too much out of the way or wait too long. It's very good but not exceptional. That neighborhood has a lot of good food offerings in a lot of different cuisines. Supper may be the best Italian food in that neighborhood (although sister restaurant Frank's is a couple blocks away on 2nd, but I prefer Supper to Frank's). Overall, I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good Italian food in the LES.

Honestly, this has got to be my favorite place for dinner. Fabulous fresh Italian fare that rivals much more expensive eateries. Lively crowd, good wine list, excellent service, and big cocktails! ... What else do you want from a restaurant? Their sister restaurant Lil' Frankie's is just as great and their literally a block and a half from one another. Excellent!

Absolutely great! I had the pasta carbonara that was on special and it was an amazing meal! We also enjoyed our cocktails and the atmosphere.

I had the pleasure of being invited to a birthday party that was being celebrated in one of Supper's private party rooms. The food and service was so magnificent that it is my new favorite Italian restaurant on the Lower East Side! Supper is located between A and B on 2nd Street in what was once an old tenement apartment building. The downstairs restaurant has a very intimate dining area but it also has rooms for private parties. We were in a lovely space that once must have been someone's dining room! The meal we were served was exceptional. We had various appetizers and pastas, followed by delicious salmon and chicken and finally wonderful cakes for dessert. I plan on returning there soon, but I am certain that we will need to call in advance to secure a table!

Here for a concert at the stone. Came upon this wonderful restaurant. Cash only was generally a no no, but there is a chase bank on the corner and we bit the bullet and paid the $3 charge. So glad we did. Fava bean salad with parmesan fantastic. Husband's skate was perfectly cooked. Do not miss this place if in the nabe. Hmmm maybe even if not. Oh and a complementary huge portion of tiramisu. Love this place.k

When we arrived at Supper restaurant in East Village we were greeted and immediately seated. This old-style restaurant with its mismatched table and chairs, vintage drapery and simple setting, is a perfect place to have a home cooked Italian meal. We ordered a bottle of Italian wine and chose our food off the specials menu. We ordered a Caesar salad, short rib tortellini and the pesto gnocchi. The food was amazing and reminded both my husband and I of our meals in Italy. We can’t say enough about the short rib tortellini. Squisito! Bravo! This is a high recommendation if you want authentic Italian cuisine! Note: THIS IS A CASH ONLY RESTAURANT

Great italian meal in neat old building ! Cash only tho so be aware. Loved the wonderful appetizers.

Good food, good drinks, comfy/cozy atmosphere perfect for a on-the-fly dinner. We didn't have reservations - although it was a Sunday night - and we were able to get right in. As with the other reviewers - do beware of cash only!!! That would be my only negative about the place - not common these days.

yWell... It was Mothers Day and reservations were scarce. We easily got a table here with a call made only the day before. As far as the ambiance.. maybe the tables outside would have been a better choice. We were seated right outside of the open kitchen. Noisy! The other choice was a community table. No thanks! My son and I ordered the Bruschetta. Whoa! It was toasted bread but the tomatoes looked like stewed tomatoes from a can and were as watery. What??? Way too much and soggy bread. Not what I had in mind. I had an appetizer of veal meatballs which were pretty good. One son had a pricey bowl of what looked like plain spaghetti with some cheese mixed in. M other son had salmon and he was pleased with that. The saving grace was an unexpected Tiramisu with three spoons gifted to us for Mothers Day. Nice touch! Would I go back? Not likely....

I LOVE this place.. the food is amazing!!! my favs are: veal meatballs (you've never had better), burrata, cacio pepe. everything is made fresh. This is a great date spot, perfect for group meals. It gets kind of loud but once you are eating it doesn't matter!

Great Restaurant from a Food perspective, not it is a great restuant food wise, Classic Italian. Cash only is a big of a hassle, but not that much.

The always impeccable Guide du Routard made it clear: Supper was one of the best choices for having dinner in that area (Lower East Side). I called just a little bit too late for getting a table (for 3) in the main room inside, but they went the extra mile to give us a table which proved just great. Only positive things to say about the food, but what really made the difference was the kindness of the two guys who took care of us. Kudos to Kevin who was both really helpful (selecting the right wine when you don't know any of the ones featuring on the list AND you make it clear you were from Bordeaux, France isn't exactly easy for the waiter) and just a great guy to speak with, discuss and laugh with. Same positive and 100% sincere comments for his Brazilian colleague (whose name sadly escapes me) who took care of us all along that evening. Guess we know where to go next time we're around here! Thanks!

We came here with a large group and had a pre planned multi course meal. I am a bit Italian fan and oh my goodness the gnocchi and the lemon pasta were mind blowing as was the caprese! I will come here any time I'm in NYC and have the chance. Our waiter, one warning, did try to hustle the gal in our party who paid for extra cash that was already included in our pricing so just be careful.

I have been going to Supper for years now, and it's always a solid affordable Italian meal with nice atmosphere and great service. For an added bonus, book the private room for a special occasion with a prix fixe menu w/ wine. You can choose your own music and really set the mood!

We had dinner here with family and friends. One of the members of our party is from NYC and is Italian, she wanted us to experience authentic Italian Cuisine, NYC version. It's one of the best meals my husband ate, I would agree but am still partial to a few restaurants in North End in Boston. I had the lemon spaghetti, omg...phenomenal! Husband had the chicken parm, so much meat and tender. Daughter had the bolognese, that looked hearty and meaty. She said the taste was better than it looked. The New Yorker in our group did the pasta with pesto. That looked amazing, home made noodles and so much pesto! We still talk about this place, weeks after our trip. I have tried to duplicate the lemon pasta, still a work in process. One thing is for sure, we will be back.

I was truly excited about going to Supper, given its excellent reputation. However, it ended up being a disappointing experience. The Chicken Parmigiana with Spaghetti had a mortal flaw for any Italian restaurant: totally overcooked pasta. Later on, the Sorbetti Assortiti was unremarkable, like sorbetti you'd buy at a grocery store. The only saving grace was the friendly service.

The kale gnocchi, the pasta al limone and the berry lemonade - all to die for. Such a cozy, cute and adorable restaurant. Perfect for families, colleagues or friends. Very highly recommended!!

Supper does it the way i like it. Simple and with subtle flavor. The grilled cuttlefish and the house wine - a montepulciano - were perfetto. The polenta dish was alright. At first i was miffed that, a solo diner, they shuffled me into the bar but that turned out to be a good experience. I especially liked the music (which was not too loud, and fun). This place came recommended, and my friends were right.

A large group if us were here last night. When the cab dropped us off, the place looked abandoned but everything changed once we opened the door. It was small, rustic and really, really busy. The wait staff were on the ball and served us promptly all through the evening. The food was served family style. Every dish was simple and flavorful. Nothing was exceptional but nicely predictable. It is not the cheapest place and it can get very noisy. That said, if you want Italian comfort food and are in the area, try it.

Supper is always consistently excellent. A great local place with a wonderful staff. We had just a tiny wait and the host brought us a free appetizer, so thoughtful, right? The Italian cuisine is crisp and fresh. The pasta homemade. I highly recommend the veal meatballs-they are to die for- and the lemon pasta and gnocchi are yummy. The wine list is an added surprise. Cash only so bring your wallet, you will be happy you chose Supper.

Supper is a warm and welcoming Italian spot in NYC that truly stands out. The atmosphere offers a comforting embrace, perfect for a relaxed evening. The menu shifts with the seasons, always delivering something fresh and exciting. What really sets Supper apart is the exceptional personal service – attentive, genuine, and full of charm. The chef brings a twinkle to the kitchen, skillfully preparing each dish with flair and a sense of fun. Every bite is a treat. A solid 5 out of 5 – highly recommended!

Our meals where well prepared. Needed help understanding the Daily Specials. A Monday night and cold outside. We had our choice of a rear dining room and once shown decided on that space since it was toasty warm, we got out of the cold. The ambiance was Ok I wanted to describe that first since I like to decorate. The front room ypu could see the open kitchen a L shaped space. brick walls dark and just dark,no style. . The back dining area had same brick which was charming it is the LES. No table cloths ugly tables and ugly back chairs recycled from who knows where. Please get comfortable seating!!!!! A long vertical mirror on the wall gave me a view of what was going on behind me..... then I had Jesus last supper to my left..... .get the setting...it is an Italian restaurant. and yes my son married into a huge NY Italian family with food the main topic of discussion and family 2nd. .The coat hooks worked ......but where ugly also. A wine room with a private room behind it was pretty cool. The room heaters where on. The waitior reinforced the explanation of Daily risotto and entree specials. Then we where off to decide. We shared the polenta which was lovey, light, fluffy almost like a dessert had bit of sweetness loaded with a soft cheese. The main dishes chosen where the Monday Veal shank with string beans and mashed potatoes. off the regular menu a pasta like long ribbons with mushroom gravy..... which if picky.....and I am...... could have used a little more gravy as a fresh home made pasta it absorbed the gravy. we could have asked for more but didn't. The bread with white beans was nicely very seasoned Took home left overs, tasty the next day. will try the pasta lemione next time.

Rustic place and food. It has a feel of being a quiet neighborhood italian restaurant. Tried the mozzarela which is good.

Interesting place. When you first walk in, you encounter the live kitchen. Not one of those "for the show" type of open kitchen (e.g. Morimoto or Roy's), but a good working kitchen. Actually that's how I would describe the dining experience. Nothing fancy, no frills. Just solid Italian dishes made with fresh ingredients. Not one of those places you would go out of your ways for a special dining experience. But if you are in the neighborhood you know you will have a good meal. Everything we ordered- salad, seafood, pasta, risotto - was good. Last time I had buffalo mozzarella that good was in made Italy. Yum.

Loved this spot. Cute, homey, and delish! Loved the staff, music, and the food was good Italian without being fancy or stuffy.

Attended a wedding rehearsal dinner here. The room was rather small for the number of people, and people kept tramping through it to another party in an adjacent room, so the noise level was quite high. But the food was superb--hors d'oeuvres of every sort followed by Spaghetti Bolognese and other typical Italian fare, served family-style. Each dish was yummier than the one before!

Loved the place - few tourist and mostly local NYC'. The food are great, and we sad at the "bar" facing the chef directly, which was a cool experience. Had a drink next door in their bar before dinner. If you want local NYC atmosphere, great italian food and cool place - GO THERE!!

Our daughter and her boyfriend have been wanting to at here for a while so they decided to make a reservation since his Mom was coming in from Chicago. Having worked close by in the City and knowing the neighborhood, I thought it was fine. The positives: They held the reservation for 30 minutes since my wife and I were tied up in traffic. The crustinis were excellent, salads fresh (really good tomatoes) and the pasta dishes were cooked just right. Wine list very reasonable. Very good service from staff. When ordering the 2nd bottle of wine, was informed that we had purchased the last bottle. Expected to be referred to a much more expensive varietal but was surprising pleased when the waiter recommended a bottle which cost about the same. The cons: Since its a rather small restaurant, the tables were pushed together so close that you heard the other table's conversation clearer if you were seated on the end. Very noisy which made hearing anyone other than the person siting on either side of you difficult. Final cost was $350 for 5 people which included a salad, 3 apps, 5 entrees, 2 bottles of wine and a cappuccino Will return in the future.

We had the mozzarella, which turned out to be a bit pricey and the lemon pasta, which was ok. The place was worth the visit but nothing to die for.

Have eaten here a couple of times and it is stellar in every way. It is a gem in the city. Great atmosphere, drinks, and the pasta is out of this world. Simple dishes that shine.

I normally done appreciate good service but this place was the exception.....Oh yeah the food was awesome also. It was our anniversary and visiting NY where my daughter lives and she recommended this place. Now i watch Beat Bobby Flay all the time and this guy Little Frankie it constantly on as a judge and I love his opinion so getting to eat at his restaurant was a treat. He did not disappoint..... I read a review about reservations no problem for us, Friday night place is jammed we arrived at 8 sharp they said right this way. Now this was cool the decor is old rustic italy with exposed bricks classic look but we went eating in this room, we were eating in the room next door but to get there we went through the restaurant by the kitchen down a steep 100 year old looking flight of stone stairs though some storage area down a clammy hall up another set of old stairs around the corner and there we are 10 feet through a wall from where we started but.......It was awesome the rustic old world quirky charm i was looking for. With our listing every detail of the meal everything we got was perfect......my wife drinks water I mean like more than a pitcher in a meal and the waiter literally filled her glass without looking for them a dozen times, the menu looks huge but it is actually very simple everything was fresh and made to order the flavors were excellent. The waiter knew it was our anniversary (my daughter sunk away and told them) they sang, gave us a free second bottle of proseco and a huge 4 part desert. it wasn't inexpensive with tip ( I left $50) the total for 4 people with drinks all around , bottle of procseco, 4 apps and 4 mains $300. I normally wouldn't spend it but the attitude of everybody working there the outstanding service made me feel that this was a bargin.

Delicious meal for a family of 5. Mushroom risotto , grilled vegetables, pasta figole and pastas are prepared perfectly. The owner was very attentive- even brought us 2 free desserts at the end of our meal. reasonably priced for such a delicious meal in a restaurant with a lot of NY bistro ambiance

We found this place by accident - but what a gem. The pasta was delicious - especially the lemon pasta, that was a whole new pasta experience. The restaurant is very cozy, and it is possible to dream, that you're somewhere in Rome. Which is always nice, when you are in New York:-) They do not accept credit cards, which is the only minus in this review.

This is a great little NYC restaurant. It is Italian with superb food and great service. Parking is difficult, so, come by cab or have plan to arrive in advance to circle the block for a parking spot.

Try the salsa cruda and the tagliatelle, and sit at the bar so you can see the magic happening in the kitchen. Every dish I saw them make looked like heaven.

A foodie recommended, so we had to go... Wish we'd gone somewhere else. All in all, it wasn't awful, but nowhere NEAR what I'd expected. To start with, it was hot inside and crowded. It's an unremarkable space (and the reason I say this is cos I can barely remember anything about the inside). Our server was curt and unfriendly, like he had somewhere else to be and serving us was a bother. The food was just okay. I had the lemon spaghetti, which was recommended to me... and it was boring. Mrs. K had the Tagliatelle Bolognese, and it was good, not great. (Mrs. K makes a better Bolognese and she's not even Italian). Thought it was overpriced for what we got and truly believe they overcharged me for the bottle of wine I ordered. No, I won't be back. Too many other places to try. Sorry. Two thumbs down on Supper.

My husband and I enjoyed a delicious dinner at this quaint little restaurant last night. We weren’t able to make a reservation but they encouraged us to walk in as tables open up. When we arrived we were promptly sat on the covered, heated terrace area. I had a glass of wine($12) and my husband a draft beer($6). We each ordered the chicken parm served with spaghetti ($27). It was delicious and HUGE. The waiters all worked together, each one friendly and attentive. My husband, from Spain, started chatting with one of the waiters who was from Mexico and he ended up giving us a complimentary piece of tiramisu!! Our total bill was about $80 which was less than we had paid the night before for the same meal somewhere else! All in all, HIGHLY recommend this restaurant.

First time eating here with friends that eat here regularly (locals) and they recommended we eat here for dinner. Great seat next to Kitchen so made the night cool and fun. Food was good and pasta fresh. Had one of the specials - beef short rib pasta. Quite tasty and rich beef taste. The waiter on the other hand was aloof, annoying and just provided terrible service. The staff certainly rushed us in between meals to finish and remove our plates quickly. It was like being scurried along in the subway. Then trying to order dessert was work and finally getting the check was terrible.

This is the second time that I've eaten at Supper. The food was delicious. We had an order of the veal meatballs which were outstanding and were dipping our bread in the tasty brown sauce. We ordered a bottle of Barbera wine which was very good. Our dinners of spaghetting limon, bolognese, and fish were outstanding. We sat outside and although it was a bit croweded, the service was excellent. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Italian food eaten in close quarters. Reminder: CASH ONLY!

Made an open table review for a dinner reservation. Had to wait a little bit after the reservation time, but the food was worth it. The burrata is amazing as well as the chicken parm. Its a small place and they definitely pack you in! Great food!

We walked in off the street and were met by a very friendly waitress and seated. The menu was varied but not too big- a good sign. We had two different pasta dishes and split a salad as an appetizer. My pasta was excellent and plentiful and my friends lasagna was also large and good. The salad was also good BUT over 20 bucks for lettuce seems extreme… We each had a beer with dinner.Good food and very good and friendly service. Also they wanted cash in payment.

Great food, great wine and lovely service. Not over priced either. A great find I went twice here in 10days in Newyork. And can't wait to come back again. Thanks to lovely staff.

Had reservations on a Monday night and were seated promptly. Our waiter was not very fast nor attentive--long wait to get drinks and he did not check back with us for refills or about our meals. Also had to wait longer than normal for our check The food was OK but not in the "WOW' category, and although not excessively priced was not an exceptional value for the portion sizes and quality. Doubtful we will return.

The place doesn't look good and the service is weird, but the food was quite good. Nothing exceptionnal but I enjoyed the originality of the brunch options.

The food is wonderful and generous in portions. You don't need an appetizer after they bring out the bread and homemade toppings. The handmade pasta, sauces, and wine list are all great. It can get noisy if you sit near the chef's work area, but what a treat to watch the ballet they perform preparing each meal. There is a downstairs room for a larger party, but you miss out on all the action. The prices are very reasonable, too. Interesting neighborhood with the feel of locals as much as tourists enjoying the sites.

Very well done dinner. I had the very feasibly priced Oslo Bucco on Saturday night. With risotto. Took half home. Apps and desserts also good. Some outside seating. Clean. Good service. I was not crazy a ABout the dinner music .

I'm a big foodie and especially love Italian food. Supper was ok. We were first served bread that seemed to be from the day before. Each person ordered a cocktail and we were all very unhappy with them but they did take them off our bill so that was nice. Our waitress seemed annoyed to be working. She was very short with us and was not helpful at all when asked questions. That really wouldn't have been that big of an issue if the food was better. The 16 garlic crostini was very good but it was only three pieces of bread so we could each have a bite. The pastas were ok, but certainly nothing to write home about. The caesar salad was ok, the eggplant dish could have had more eggplant and less tomatoes. The chicken parmesan was good. No one in the party liked the limone pasta. To top everything off rap music was blaring the entire meal, we were essentially shouting to hear one another over music full of vulgar language and bad beats. I would NOT go back here or recommend this restaurant to anyone, ever.

Not so spectacular considering that most items we are ordering from the menu are not available. Food is good but not so great and a little bit overpriced considering that they only accept cash too. Service Charge was included in our bill and yet change was never returned even though I told the server that I need the change back. .

We are here with friends yesterday evening and it was good but not very good. There was lipstick on the glass of water. The home made ice tea tasted like something artificial from the store. Salmone Marinato was sold out, grilled salmon tasted okay, but just a small dish.

Excellent back room for private events that is quiet and well separated from the main restaurant after walking thru a "wine room." Service was excellent as was the food.

The best dish here is the spaghetti al limone. Supper serves reliable Italian food in the East village. Always crowded with relatively good service. This is really their standout dish!

All I can say negative about this restaurant is that it’s seating can be tight .. We have eaten multiple times here and every time the food and the service is above and beyond great .. We had the veal meatballs for an appetizer.. Small bites in a veal brown gravy which you soak up with bread . We had the chicken parmigiana and pasta with Bolognese and Chicken with balsamic reduction and chicken Milanese .. Each dish is made to order and comes out as ready .. Time isn’t rushed for anything or any dish ... The service , the food is awesome .. My Chicken Parm was pounded flat , edges were slightly burnt and crisp .. cheese was bubbling hot and the slight hint of basil was just the best ../ Make a reservation and remember cash only ..

I had an amazing dinner in this "quaint and cozy" restaurant. I recommend the Penne Bolognese and the Veal Milanese. So good. Definitely get a reservation in advance. They are stringent about how long you can occupy a table before 9:30pm due to the size of the restaurant. Bring cash with you because that is all they take. Go eat and enjoy it!

Love this local Italian Gem! Delicious food, I had Tagliatelli with mushrooms and my daughter had the kale gnocchi. Both dishes were delish. Even better day 2 leftover. Can't wait to return.

Saturday night with a good friend we had dinner at Supper. It had appeared on a list of worthwhile East Village restaurants and my friend had secured a (necessary) reservation. We arrived at 8:30 for dinner and there was no delay. We actually had a choice of indoors or in the cafe. The restaurant is cash only, and my only complaint is that for that sort of arrangement, the wine list was a bit expensive, but we found a decent Italian white by the glass and purchased a bottle. By far the cheapest. The food was quite reasonably priced. We shared a special salad that was very large. Split an order of lemon spaghetti. The bread and accompaniment was a very tasty bean dish with roasted red peppers, rosemary, garlic, and chili flakes. It was delicious. We then had chicken parm and kale gnocchi. The salad was simple and fresh, very good. The lemon spaghetti was quite decent, not great but I ate it all. The chicken parm was pedestrian, I thought including the red sauce but my friend enjoyed it. The gnocchi were good although I don't know to what to compare them as gnocchi with kale is nothing like I've eaten, but I finished it also. It was, again, quite decent, not ethereal. We did not have dessert, and our meal with tax and tip was $165 total. The service was attentive and friendly. The restaurant space was truly "old time" East Village. Multiple dining areas in various rooms, lots of 2 steps up and/or 2 steps down. But it was clean and the kitchen neat (it's an open kitchen so it has to be!). I know my friend would go back for dinner again. I would if someone wanted to go there in particular. But there are too many Italian joints in Manhattan to return to an average priced 'decent' place otherwise.

Positives - The food was perfectly adequate - The lighting and ambiance was nice Negatives - Even though we'd made a reservation, we were squeezed in at a table that wasn't a real table about two inches from some very loud men - The service was friendly but inattentive - It was a bit overpriced and they don't accept cards This could be a nice place to eat if they didn't jam their customers into tiny, cramped tables and were a bit more customer-friendly (ex: taking cards).

This past visit was my second visit to this restaurant. It's a lovely Italian gem with authentic flavors and a kind staff. We were 4 people and shown to a table in the back portion of the restaurant. The server brought us an amuse bouche of a garlicky white bean bruschetta with bread. We ordered wine for the table which was good. Everyone cleaned their plates so I can only assume the food was great. I can personally speak to how delicious the kale panzanella was. Could not be happier with my choice. I'll be hard pressed not to repeat on my next visit! Ambiance is great for groups or couples.

One of our new favorites in the East Village. There was not an empty seat and I know why. Food was positively delicious — we had bread which they serve with a bean side, a very fresh salad with shaved fennel, the lemon pasta, and dessert. And of course, a Chianti. The service was impeccable (thanks David)! It is a high energy place with very close tables which for us, added to the charm of this place. It’s cash only. They have an ATM machine but best to come prepared ahead of time. We went on a Friday night but regardless of when we go again, I think a reservation is necessary.

Recently had dinner here based on word of mouth rave reviews. We were underwhelmed. While the food was certainly good, it did not standout in any way. We took the waiters recommendations and found the veal scallopine alla Milanese was a bit dry and lacked robust flavor, the lasagna special was tasty, but nothing to write home about. Also, all the waiters and chefs were Hispanic, so lacked a bit of the old world Italian ambience such as you'd find at Patsy's.

Really great food but fairly expensive. The seafood risotto (Friday special) was $30ish. In the end, a party of 4 we paid around $225. This included 4 seafood risotto entrees and a bottle of wine. Service was shaky at first when we tried to order liver pate for an appetizer, waiter told us everything had to be ordered at the same time. To our surprise the same waiter gave us a plate of live pate a few minutes later.... ON THE HOUSE. The service continued to pick up and our water cup was never empty :)

Supper is a jewel of a find I happened to discover on one of my recent trips to NYC. If you are looking for outstanding 'warm the depths of your soul' Italian/American, you need look no further than this cozy East Village eatery. Not only is the food amazing, the ambiance is like eating in gramma's kitchen. The open kitchen concept gives you a ring side seat to all the action! Fave dishes--avocado salad featuring uber fresh ingredients and anything pasta--it's all homemade!!!!!

I booked a private room for my team dinner in NYC, and Supper did not disappoint. We had a preset menu and everything was absolutely fantastic. The staff was superb and friendly. Highly recommend a visit, but remember this a cash only establishment.

Very popular, make sure you go early to get a table, no booking system so waiting is in the bar which bulks up the cost, but the food worth waiting for

We thoroughly enjoyed the food and dark ambience in this cozy restaurant. They had good service, and the pastas and (especially) risottos were very tasty!

...although if you don't know the place, you just might. From the outside it sort of blends in the neighborhood...nondescript. But inside is a wonder to behold. First impression when walking in was that it was VERY small...but the space wraps around to the back of the building...and even into the building next door. Atmosphere is funky vintage and cozy. Food is out of this world! Well prepared and presented. Tasty too. Treat yourself and have brunch here...you won't regret it.

In need of some highly authentic good old fashioned Italian food? if so, Supper's the place. So tiny, I missed it the first time I walked by. But, once I found it, I saw about 8 tables and 5 seats about the bar. And yet, it's not really a bar. Rather it's a bar overlooking the chefs who are quite busy cooking up great food. I had the Chicken Parm and it was one of the best I've ever had. Cash only but quintessential New York.

Attended a family dinner here. The atmosphere reminds me of old clubs in the village back "in the day." The menu had some very good choices and there were daily specials as well. The cod with balsamic glaze was fabulous. Appetizers and salads were very good. Wine list was deep enough to please most everyone. Not a low budget choice however it is priced for the area.

I always need to get a fix of the grilled salmon with lentils, pasta limn, and the starter white beans, and the Caesar salad. haven't been back since cover but hoping its as good as it used to be

OK not everything was great but some of it was amazing, and we did sing. The apps are huge. We ordered beets with goat cheese and beet greens .... perfect. polenta grilled with cheese and some nice parma ham - perfect. Good soup but it wanted a bit more spice. Not so good kale (actually the kale was all the way not good - chunks of cold rock hard tomatoes in a too salty crumble on a lightly cooked kale head). Pretty much not eatable. OK we had one bite. The place is a warren of rooms, very low key, homey. I liked the feel of it. We went for a very early dinner so it was not crowded. The wait staff was fine. They didn't rush the food or drink so we relaxed and noshed. Nice variety on the menu. Nice wine selection. Good bread. It was a little expensive but I would go back.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in NY. No reservations unless you have 8 or more in your party - so you could be in for a wait. We had been lucky until our attempted visit in Feb and have usually gotten a table. This visit there was a 1 1/2 hour wait - but it was on a Saturday night. Next year I'll make sure to go on a weeknight. All the pasta and vegi appetizers are always delicious. The waiters know their menu and their wines and always have spot on suggestions. This is a place I try to return to each and every visit.

Really great experience here for a team dinner. We had the prix fix dinner menu and everything was remarkable, from the appetizers to the pasta and meat dishes. I don’t usually enjoy beet but the slice roasted beet was delicious. I also loved the meatballs, tomato basil mozarella, and lemon pasta.

First, the ambiance of the small room off to the right side was quite nice and the bartender who took our order was also very nice. I took my daughter there and she chose the place because (she uses Yelp) it got a "high rating". We were in the mood for Italian and had high hopes for this place. It started off great with a basket of bread and this delicious white bean and olive oil concoction. We order the mozzarella di bufalo and the moz was creamy on the inside, similar to what my daughter had in Europe; it was good. We also ordered another appetizer: crostini with mushrooms. The crostini was nothing more than a 1" slice of toasted Italian bread (actually a little burnt) piled high with mushroom; not much flavor at all, except the burnt bread. For my entree I ordered the homemade tagiatelle with meat sauce. The pasta was pretty good, but let's face it, it was spaghetti!?! My daughter ordered one of the specials:medium rare steak (smothered in tomato sauce, ick) with a side of broccoli rabe and fried gnocchi. The steak was terribly undercooked. I thought we made rather poor choices. But the mushroom crostini was honestly pretty plain. Ahh, we also order a side of eggplant, which I must say was the best thing we ordered (the bean dip was also excellent, but that was free). Our first time there and for us, The Last SUPPER!!! BTW, CASH ONLY. For the two of us, with no alcohol, pre-tip: $87. More authentic Italian food can be found at VIA DELLA PACE (also in East Village) and cash only also; but for 3 of us including a 1/2 bottle of Chiant our dinner bill was $99.

The four of us enjoyed a wonderful Saturday night dinner and without question, we would return. We sat inside, directly across from the kitchen. At first, we were unsure and thought that it might be too noisy; however, we were able to carry-on a normal conversation while also enjoying the actions within the kitchen. We enjoyed a mix of pasta, fish, and salad dishes: all were superb and well-portioned. We did not order the chicken parm but I will next time - it looked great! Please know that it is cash only; however, there is an ATM within the restaurant. Also, at no time did we feel rushed or that we needed to eat and leave...in this regard, they are very relaxed and more in the European mode of dining. They also have a number of tables outside which looked like a very nice option. Lastly, I found it to be only moderately expensive and of very good value.

Walked into Supper in East Village for lunch. Like other Frankie's spots, it is a warm and relaxed setting. Food was fabulous, wait staff attentive, price reasonable. Good spot but a bit hidden unless you know where you are going. Went with six people, only one had been there before. We would all recommend it.

Spaghetti Al Limone - so good we should have gotten two of them. It looks simple but it's really amazing. I even converted a friend who doesn't like lemon. Bruschetta- simple but delicious. They grill the bread which is key. The tomatoes are fresh (which in the early winter is hard to find). Just a really nice flavor. Tagliatelle - very hearty, nice flavor. Not as good as the spaghetti al limone Priest stranglers - not worth it

Seemed as though locals were very familiar with this little restaurant. It was packed and pretty noisy but still the atmosphere was comfortable and fun. The service was great and our food was prepared perfectly. There were no gluten-free options so I got a mushroom salad and it was good. My husband and son got a pasta dish and they were very satisfied. Our son's friends got the salmon and it looked amazing.

We were recommended this restaurant by a friend living in New York and we were very pleased with it. The restaurant was actually full when we arrived and we hadn't made a reservation so we were sat in a bar area next door to the main restaurant. We were initially sat at some high thin tables next to the wall which weren't very comfortable as we had big coats and bags after a cold day walking around the city so we moved to 2 seats at the corner of the bar which were much more comfortable. The atmosphere was quite nice here with low lighting and soft music and the décor was really cool with brick walls and a lovely dark bar with the bottles lined up in front of a mirror. The menu was of a reasonable size with some traditional Italian meals and also some slightly more non-typical dishes which all looked delicious. There was also a specials menu which the bar-tender/waitress was very familiar with and explained each dish to us in detail. The food was all very good as was the service. The pricing was also very reasonable for the quality / portion size, especially by New York standards. The only reason I have marked it down a point as I would have liked a Kir Royale cocktail but they didn't have the liquour needed to make this. They did offer an alternative but unfortunately this wasn't to my taste.

Fake Italian restaurant. Bad food and very high prices. The cooks were not Italian but South American and the food was very low quality compared to the prices charged. Not recommended

I was looking for a highly-rated, Northern Italian restaurant that wouldn't break the bank as we were a group of 11 which included visitors from Northern Italy that were missing their native cuisine. Supper did not disappoint. Our food was a amazing. I ordered the tagliatelle di prosciutto di parma. It was delicious. Several in our group ordered tagliatelle di Bolognese and the Chicken Parmigiana and loved it. My niece ordered THE TIMELY 'PRIEST STRANGLERS' and thought it was great. We took several Ubers to the restaurant. The first to arrive texted me and said that it didn't "look like some place that I would like". I was apprehensive because I chose the restaurant and didn't want anyone to be disappointed. I agree that the outside, decorated in graffiti, was appealing. The decor is a little old (think your aging grandmother's house) However, you can't judge a book by it's cover and I am glad we didn't. I'd go back for sure!

Supper strikes me as the kind of place that locals know and love, but that visitors wouldn't know about unless they were tipped off by a local. My daughter lives in the East Village and she recommended Supper when we were visiting for Mother's Day weekend. The place was packed, noisy, energetic and fun. Five of us shared 3 appetizers (octopus, veal meatballs and polenta with gorgonzola) and loved it all. Entrees we ordered included three different pasta dishes, grilled salmon and veal Milanese. All were delicious. We ordered tiramisu to share for dessert and our server also brought us a slice of chocolate cake with strawberries. Can't wait to go back!

Living across the street from this place was a godsend, the food is amazing! I also want to mention the wait staff who are knowledgeable, attentive, friendly and not in-your-face. I love the polenta appetizer which is delicious and the pasta specials are always good. The portion sizes are reasonable... but remember not to fill yourself up on the delicious white bean dip before you order! I've also had takeout twice from this pace and was pleased it was the same standard.

I have been going here for years. Nothing will fill your belly and make you happier than the pansanella salad and lemon spaghetti. Like angels descended and made it for you. I love the mismatched chair vibe. It is pure, lovely east village. One of my go to's for out of town guests. Try it once and you will be hooked! Cash only. Sit at counter and watch them make it. Wonderful especially in the winter!

Was taken here by friends who told me what to order (the lemon spaghetti or the half roast chicken) and came back on my own twice more and ordered the same things. Superb! Take care with the special menu - it's not any cheaper! But this is SO worth going to...if i ever go back to NYC this is near the top of my list for places to go. It was busy, but with good reason - and the atmosphere was good - lots of quirkily mismatched tables & chairs crammed in to a small place. On my last visit I sat at the bar and you could see right in to the kitchen. I loved this place. Nice white wine too!

I’ve now been to Supper twice — both times with my niece who introduced me (and everyone else who visits her) to this restaurant. Both times, we were treated like family and were the last parties to leave. I had been planning this visit for months (I’m only in NYC a couple of times a year) — studying the menu, watching Frank Prisinzano’s Instagram tutorials, imagining what I might be inspired to order. Between four of us, we shared three appetizers: the burrata (insane), baby octopus perfectly cooked with a simple salad of celery, potatoes, and fennel, and prosciutto with fresh figs and Parmesan. For our pasta course I got the Spaghetti agile, oil in e peperoncino (a dish I have been making for years and this one blew mine away — didn’t even need any cheese), my other dining companions got the spaghetti limone (always divine), cacao e Pepe, and the special seafood risotto. During all of this the Barolo was flowing! We also shared a sole oreganta for the table. And to finish — soft serve gelato — one with crushed almond cookies and chocolate sauce, the other with a balsamic reduction and fresh shaved black truffles, which was shockingly good. Already looking forward to my next visit.

If you are visiting New York & want to get out of the tourist spots this restaurant is a must!!! It was a recommendation from a friend but we didn’t know what it was going to be like & it exceeded expectations! We visited on a Saturday night, the area was really cool & quite buzzing, restaurant had a good vibe & service was good! The Priest strangler was THE most flavoursome pasta dish I have ever had... I have spoken about it so much since being home ! Highly recommend! Cash only :)

Supper is delicious Italian food! They served our large group several different dishes & all were so different & all were fabulous. We were seated in a small private room, which was quaint & cozy. Supper has traditional & gourmet Italian dishes. From appetizers to desserts, ALL were delish. I love their mixed salad. They have a good wine list too. We loved the family-style meal, which was perfect for our large group.

We had a lovely brunch at Supper. Conveniently located in the East Village, it has a great brunch menu. We had the roasted fennel and fontina omelet, kale and goat cheese omelet , lemon zucchini and egg. All were great choices but the white bean dish with country bread offered at the beginning was so flavorful. It is a cozy place with a busy kitchen The staff was very helpful. Delightful place for a weekend brunch but they also serve lunch and dinner.

This place is a hoot! A sort of rabbit warren of rooms, very friendly but slightly shambolic service (the restaurant was jammed the night we went there and the kitchen was very busy), and simple but fabulous food. Everything we ate was great. The best veal meatballs and pappardelle with lamb ragù I've ever had. But the best thing about it was the atmosphere...everyone was happy and everyone was having a great time, including the waiters. There were couples, small groups, large groups, indoor dining, outdoor dining, etc. Don't go there for a quiet contemplative evening. Go there to be happy and have a great meal.

Tonight my wife made a delicious fettucine with a sauce of fresh lemons, provolone and parmagiana cheeses. I then realized that I had forgotten to revue the very interesting restaurant which introduced this dish to us a special of theirs. Supper is a simple no frills room from the Frank's Italian Restaurant family. That simple room is always packed due to the excellence of food. You may have to wait to get in but the clientele is almost all local. The service is fast and the prices (including wine) are reasonable.

Had an event at Supper and the food and service was first rate. The Italian cuisine was to die for and the selection of dishes is unlike any Italian restaurant I've ever been to. Try their Kale Gnocchi-amazing.

Truly delicious food! You cannot go wrong here! There was a mix up with our reservation and they gave us free drinks!!!

I cannot believe this is Z bob gourmand! prices are higher than indicated and food is mediocre at best. Pay just a bit more and find somewhere with decent food and better wine. Maybe okay for the locals but we didn't come all the way to New York for food this bad.

Great food and service! I was attended by an experienced and polite waitress named Gustavo who advised us on the wine and meal orders.

We had the best time at Supper! During Covid Frank was showing the methods to his dishes, same dishes they serve in the restaurant, through his stories on Instagram. So I started following along and going to buy the ingredients because what else did I have to do during that time?! What I was putting out at home with his guidance was incredible so it was definitely a bucket-list thing for me to get to one of his restaurants during a two-day trip to the city recently. Let me just say that the dishes we ate at the restaurant were even better than what I was putting out at home! We needed to have an early dinner since we were going to a show so we got there right at open at 4pm. We were the only ones there for a bit and they really took care of us. The space is cozy. The people that work there felt like a family. They start you with some beans in olive oil served with bread. We ordered the roasted beet salad, spaghetti al limone, and the tagliatelle al ragu bolognese and the panda cotta. Everything was a 10/10. I cleaned my whole plate and I NEVER do that. Also, they sang me happy birthday when we ordered dessert even though it wasn't my birthday. I was dying laughing and thought my husband was messing with me, but he said he wasn't. I think they were! It was so funny and we had the best time. I look forward to trying another one when we go up again.

The bruschetta was very good and fresh, the Tortalloni with Short Rib sauce was rich and satisfying but a bit too greasy for me, the Papardella with asparagus was very nice but nothing one couldn't make at home, the griller Octopus appetizer was hammered and a bit tough ( not crisp on the outside and tender inside as it should be). Panna Cotta dessert was above the usual and very tasty while the coffee was flat and a bit bitter. Excellent wine list and bar drinks. Service was brisk and impersonal. We ate off the specials menu and this should have been the best of fare. Instead it tasted like mom was in the kitchen with her usual OK hit-or-miss.

Had a wonderful birthday for Kathy at Supper. Chris had picked it out. Old school Italian. Real good authentic style. The chicken parmigiana was cut thin and tasted great. Buffalo mozzarella was best I’ve had reminded us of Italy. The Caesar salad was very goo. The meatballs with little I. A brown gravy Like Swedish meatballs. The lemon macaroni was excellent service was so good and very crowded. The waiter bought us a round and desert for Kathy’s birthday

We had only heard about this place a couple days before while waiting in line at a local dessert place. We did not have reservations for Supper but got incredibly lucky and arrived shortly before the main wave of the dinner rush. We were asked if we wanted to sit in either of the outside enclosed areas or to sit at the counter. We opted for the counter and are so glad we did! We were seated directly in front where most of the food is made to order by the chefs. They are amazing! There is also a nearby salad and dessert station but the cooking station is so crazy busy and very exciting to watch. The restaurant is very cozy and very much has a neighborhood feel that makes you want to settle in for a great meal here on a nightly basis. Our main server was pretty great and helpful in explaining different items on their menu. While I would love to go back and eventually try everything on their menu we were not able to do that on this particular visit. We ordered the roasted garlic crostini to start and it was pretty awesome. They toasted bread directly in front of us for the crostini at the cooking station where we were seated. The garlic was so tender and flavorful that we were able to spread it on the bread with our butter knife. My guest ordered the Spaghetti Pomodoro e Basilico with the stracciatella cheese as an extra add-on and loved every single bite! I also tried a bite of their dish and it was pretty incredible. I ordered "The Timely Priest Stranglers" pasta but did not choose the optional sausage that can accompany this pasta dish. It is an unfortunate name for such an amazing pasta dish. It was cooked perfectly with such an incredible sauce and ricotta cheese that mixed together to create one of the best pasta dishes I have ever tried. I really wish I could eat this every day! We were there on a Sunday when they had a special going with tortelloni filled with beef short rib served with potato puree. I saw several of these being made and served and really wanted to try them they looked so delicious. This place was very busy but welcoming and cozy. I highly recommend trying Supper if you have the opportunity. I can't wait to go back and try another incredible dish at this great little Italian place!

We went on Christmas Eve and had their special which was 7 small plates of different fish. It was a great meal and the plates were just the right size (we split them between the two of us) and very creative. They had a delicious Tuna in Tomato Sauce and a great risotto and mussels as well. Overall it was a great meal and very creative. Service was very good as well.

My daughter and I enjoyed a great dinner here before seeing Blue Man Group. Excellent bolognese sauce. Very small restaurant with an open kitchen.

The food is super yummy here. I recommend the grilled polenta- they usually have some version of it. With mushrooms is my fave. The meatballs are small and you can order them as an app. those are amazing, even though i dont eat meat anymore. They serve a white bean in olive oil topping for the bread a a gratis starter which i could eat for dinner itself. I have been here numerous times and never ate anything i didnt absolutely love. Also equally love the sister restaurant Lil Frankies on 1st and 1st. I think i ate the best meal in my life here- grilled fish w arugula salad. really simple but so flavorful and delicious. And now ill shut up becuase im getting hungry. The place has really nice ambiance, quick service and delicious food. You will not be dissappointed.

My sister stayed in East Village while visiting NYC. We decided to stop in for s glass of wine after a day of sightseeing as it was close to our suite. The dessert was amazing and reasonable, as well as, the wine. So we went back the next night. Figured it would be a good choice for my sister the night before the marathon since it was Italian. Oh my gosh. It was so good. The starter bread with white beans, herbs and olive oil were so good. We both had pasta did it definitely was homemade. The place is kind of funky inside but after being in NYC for a few days it really was part of the architecture. The staff were friendly and efficient.

Arrived early in the evening with some friends after a long day of exploring and huge appetites all round. We were immediately shown to a table and ordered appetizers promptly. Not only did they come out before we'd even ordered our entrees, the staff also brought us out crostinis with white bean dips. We ordered the bruschetta and the prosciutto and figs. Both were well sized and perfectly seasoned. Our meals followed just as we leisurely finished our appetizers and we were surprise by the size of the plates. We ordered a pasta dish, the eggplant with tomatoes, the veal, and the plate of vegetables and all were also perfectly seasoned with oil and garlic and provided us with ample food despite our huge appetites. The wine our server selected was also a favourite of all. Being a table of girls, we figured we should probably get some desserts so we ordered the chocolate cake and the tiramisu. The chocolate cake was delicious. Overall I will be back next time in New York as the restaurant provides the perfect relaxed atmosphere that is slightly off the beaten path so you can escape the busyness of the day.

Originally, I came here to check out their private dining room to book a possible event. Nice intimate space, but it's rather big and they won't use the dining room without a minimum 15 people with a prix-fixe menu. Then, I placed my name on the waiting list for a dinner table. Sadly, they gave a spot on the counter adjacent to the kitchen. It seats 6 and the high chairs are not very comfy. In terms of fung shui, it's directly to the doors and will be drafty. The space is very noisy and you cannot have intimate conversations. From the onset, the different waiters would come by to ask for our dinner orders even before we had a few moments to read the menu. Then, 15 mins later, none of them would come by. I had to ask the bus boy to get us any waiter to place our dinner orders. When the food came, it was nice and piping hot. The pasta portions were gynormous and the sauce was hearty. We barely made a dent in our dinner plates and wanted to leave. For a good half an hour, none of the staff would come by to check up on us. So, we got up, started to put on our jackets and slowly made the visual clue that we were about to leave. They finally rushed to bring our final dinner bill. The prices they charge are on par with table cloth restaurants. Sadly, the generous quantity does not make up for the lack of quality nor service.

This restaurant is the dirtiest place I have ever seen. The whole place needs a deep clean. Everything around you is very dirty. We didn't order food because it was impossible to sit there and eat.

This place is definitely worth a visit for the food, in fact its exceptional quality and flavour. However the service was a bit of a let down. We had a table booked for 7, took a while to be seated with no bar to sit at while we waited. Service was quick but not particularly friendly. Expected a lot better.

Sitting outside at Supper with friends was one of my fondest memories of New York. A bottle of great wine, homemade pasta, meatballs and great bread - what could go wrong? I would come here again. Make sure to have cash!

We went with a large group and had a variety of dishes. All were excellent and much loved by all. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was perfect.

Brilliant location. Waked in and Supper was buzzing! Great atmosphere from get go. There was a small wait as we had no reservations but before we knew it, we were sited at a table. The food is incredibly good. Honest, wholesome. Good portions too. Service was fast and almost seemed rushed but i guess its because they were truly busy. Don't expect fine dining by any means but this is for sure a fun place to eat and enjoy a relaxed dinner with friends or even couples. Brilliant Italian/American food using fresh ingredients and by the way, pasta is homemade too. All thumbs up on this one!

Invited to a family birthday gathering at this quaint Italian restaurant. There was a small private room set behind the wine room. Although very old the place was delightful. Now the best part. The food was fabulous. Since we were served family style we started with some great appetizers. Fresh tomatoes covered in burrata. Veal small meatballs. Figs and fresh ricotta. Prosciutto and cheese. All excellent. The pastas were my favorite. Linguine with Parmesan and fresh lemon. Tagliatelle with bolognese. Stracitelli with fresh ricotta in a light tomato sauce. Let's not forget the half chicken that was fabulously prepared. The veal Milanese and Salmon Yes family is Italian and this was a food fest as we love it. We will return
Great dinner for my first night in NYC!
Great spot for dinner in East Village. We sat outside on a beautiful evening and it was a perfect evening. We ordered the appetizer of tomato and fresh mozzarella, which very fresh and tasty. They have unique specials every day, and decided to split the special of the day. It was beef short ribs and parmigiana fennel. They were unique flavors together, and absolutely wonderful! It is cash only, no credit cards, but they do have an ATM inside and it's only a $2.00 fee.
