Must try

This is a gorgeous new restaurant that has opened on the UES and I highly recommend you go check it out. Ambiance: The whole set up is gorgeous. When you walk in, there is a brightly lit hallway, feels futuristic. Once you’re inside they’ve created this vibe of indoor garden. They even have a nice fireplace. They have these really nice skylights above their back bar and back dining area so you can get natural light. The whole set up makes the place feel fancy and yet comfortable. Food: We got the spicy cucumber and vegetable gyozas for appetizers. They cucumber sauce was so good, we ended up keeping it for the rest of our feel. The little crunch on top of the cucumber was also such a nice mix. It tasted like a fresh and well seasoned appetizer. The gyozas were also really good. They came out really hot and didn’t feel oily. The stuffing inside was a nice combination of different vegetables. As our main course we shared their vegetarian platter. It came with 9 different sushi bites and 8 pieces of the avocado cucumber roll. All the pieces were delicious and I liked how they created different flavor combinations. Service: Service was great. They were quick to seat us and take our order when we were ready. Food came out at a nice pace. Water glasses were filled quickly. Price: For NYC standards, I find this place to be very reasonably priced especially considering the portion sizes. We paid less than $50/person for our whole meal.

Great dining experience

Great, fresh sushi. This is my go to for takeout in the city. I recently dined in and was very happy with my experience. A great place to dress up or casually. Great for a date or with friends. The staff was very friendly and made great recommendations.

put off

Credit card required for a reservation but does not mean you will be seated in the dining room. We were seated in the bar where the ambiance was much different. I was taking people out for dinner and was embarrassed. The hostess was very unfriendly. The food was decent. There was no manager that we could see and we had many waiters and waitresses through the meal. The service was slow.

Extraordinary Discovery!

Every so often, one comes upon a restaurant that is distinctively different, exceptionally good in all categories, and memorably good. Sushi Goda is one of the most beautiful restaurants I have seen and with food and service to match. There is something on their excellent menu for every pallete and wallet. Prices are reasonable and those-like my dinner partner-who does not eat raw fish, can find many wonderful cooked selections. We began the meal with our usual favorites: edamame and seaweed salad, and got quite a surprise. The edamame was exceptional, and the seaweed salad was presented beautifully with five different types of seaweed. Never saw that before. My dinner partner had the Pan Seared Salmon, which was extremely good. Of the 3 Omakase options I chose the classic Omakase, which was 10 pieces served in two installments of five each. Excellent, as well. Our server was extremely attentive and a wonderful sushi tour guide. His recommended dessert of green tea ice cream and a warm brownie was the perfect ending to an extraordinary meal. For lovers of fine Japanese food, Sushi Goda is a must visit!
