Cool building, you walk into a small dark hotel, someone walks you to an elevator in the back and sends you to the 6th floor. You then walk up 2 floors of steps to the Lab. They say they are open until 1000p but they did last call for food and drinks at 9:00 and then started packing up the place while guests were eating. Very rushed, like others have said. Sush was good, drinks were good. Overall, just ok.

A local recommended this restaurant to celebrate my mom’s birthday; we were visiting for the US Open and had one night to go out to eat. It was an excellent choice. From the front door to the upstairs rooftop, the decor/ambience/vibe was perfect. Our server was so attentive and friendly; he provided excellent recommendations for the menu. The food was delicious; get the chicken gyoza and the matcha roll. The salmon belly with Asian pear and the toro tartare were also fantastic. Actually, everything we ordered was great, including the citrus saison. Very reasonably priced as well— it was $150 for the two of us, including tip. The only negative is we were early for our reservation, so they sent us to the bar to wait; they forgot about us and I had to remind them 15 minutes after we should have been seated. Otherwise- it was perfect. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Lovely experience before the theatre. Cool, open atmosphere for dining on the 8th floor of a building that we couldn't have found ourselves and appreciated the guidance of the hostess to the elevator. Great signage helped us complete our journey. We enjoyed our seat at the window. We enjoyed everything we ordered. Bluefin tartare was lovely, including the very thin and crispy taro chips. Dynamite shrimp was good, similar to another restaurant's 'bang bang' shrimp. The sushi is the star. Yellowtail jalapeno roll was perfectly shaped, the proper size (not too big), with the thinnest layer of rice over the soy paper (which we subbed instead of nori). Spicy hotate roll equally stunning and delicious. Service was prompt and helpful. Food came out quickly.

Sushi was pricey and pretty average. One person at our table got the omakase, which might be a comparative bargain at $69 — it looked pretty good. Server was friendly. Would not return.

New Year's Eve dinner in a restaurant located on the roof of a hotel 5 steps from Time Square. Great sushi and cocktails. The waiters could be a little more organized and attentive in service. Recommended

On entering the building I spoke with the 2 ladies on the check in desk, I requested dinner for 2 at the Sushi Lab. Upon my request 1 of the young ladies enquired on the walkie talkie if they had room for a walk in for 2, it was advised they did, so we were informed to go to the second elevator. Once reaching the elevator and after trying to explain to the security guy that we had been told to attend his elevator, we could then ascend to the restaurant. We arrived and were very politely escorted to a table and given menus. Reading the menus we discovered there were no sushi options available and enquired as to this. We were then politely advised that we had been sent to the wrong restaurant, and immense apologies given. The gentleman then advised we needed to go back down to the lobby to take a different lift. Hats off to The Haven staff who were polite and efficient, a pleasure to deal with. Once reaching the lobby (again) we were directed to the correct lift, whilst waiting for an elevator we were advised, by one of the young ladies who was originally on check-in, that the Sushi Lab was closed for a private event! I then returned to check-in and spoke to your welcome staff suggesting that they listen properly to what customers are requesting on arrival, check that they have the relevant information as to what is available at the time and they then deal with customers in a courteous manner, rather than being dismissive and unhelpful.

Fun rooftop experience and loved the sushi 🍣. Vanessa made my birthday special with cheesecake and champagne. September is a great time of year.
My opinion
I did not like this place because the prices are very high and the food is very small, I almost had a heart attack from eating something very spicy (this information was not on the menu). The food takes a long time to arrive and the staff is quite nice
