Great first time sushi experience

By BBR-Reggie |

First time sushi experience. Saketinis were good drinks. Edamame starter was fresh. Shared fried oysters, spiced shrimp, wavecrest and salmon rolls. Finished with dessert (could use more choices here). Parking not great, but nearby lot only cost $16 for 2.5 hours. Would definitely come again.

Not convinced

Ordered several sushi rolls for takeout. Plenty of fish in the rolls but very bland and homogenous taste.

High-end Sushi On Peck Slip

By James S |

Sushi place near the water on Peck Slip. Design was modern with a main room and a smaller room sushi bar area. I felt the main room lacked any character. Sushi was very good and very artfully presented. Service was spotty, busters were there every minute trying to clear plates before I had finished or fill a water glass each time I took a sip. Main wait staff was not in the main room, but hung out near the sushi bar in the other room and were hard to find. I felt prices were on the high side.

A taste sensation

By DEBurns |

A somewhat off the beaten path sushi sensation located in the historic Seaport district of lower Manhattan a short walk front the financial district.. Great food, great service and great ambiance.

Seaport Haven

By AJAX6965 |

The best Japanese restaurant in the Financial District is on Peck Slip at the northern end of South Street Seaport. Delicious and fresh sushi, as well as Tempura await. Friendly waiters and a view of the Brooklyn Bridge.

Great Sushi & Great Location

By Steve C |

This place has great sushi, but it's the location that makes it special. It's right along the water in the oldest part of New York, down by the South Street Port. It's right next to the new and happening Pier 17 entertainment complex. There's a bike trail going right by the place. There's historic South Street Seaport museums and shops. And there's a TIX discounted theater ticket office. Most of the restaurants around the area are the same old same old. But this place offers clever variations on the sushi mix. The prices are reasonable. The service is exceptional. The decor is nice with great views of the surrounding harbor.

Average sushi place

By ELIANG2013 |

I went there on 4th of July while waiting for the fireworks. We ordered to go because the wait is too long. Menu is very basic sushi, nothing fancy. Limited selection. Food tastes ok.

Excellent!!!

By Anne-Marie C |

We live in the neighborhood of this sushi place, and finally went in! The atmosphere is great, the staff was knowledgeable and friendly, and the sushi was delicious!!! I can't wait to go back!

Best Food , Service is LOLL

By Vadim Z |

Sushi Amazing , great quality!!! Service was funny - why? I came to eat on my own and had two special rolls and two beers. I regret that i got table… Wait staff looked at me as “waaaaaaa”, and “that’s ittttt”. Final thing , I had beer about lower than half and two sushi AFTER I ASKED FOR THE CHECK, after restroom my table was clean and ready for next people. Dear Management , I and my friends do not want to go to your place anymore, your food is A+ , but the way I was kicked out - no respect. I felt like “EAT AND ARE HERE”. Please work with your service, we are human being and I used to work as a waiter, but the way I was treated - LOLLLL….

Better than Before Sandy!

By todbo |

Sandy had completely inundated our favorite Seaport sushi house, so on this visit, we ate twice at SuteiShi in a two-day span. Both times we were delighted with our meals. We started each night with the tenderest edamame, served with a lovely chili/soy/sesame dipping sauce. My wife tried the panko-coated beef roll the first night, and repeated her choice the second. I loved the tuna with avocado roll both nights, and enjoyed the spicy salmon roll the first night and the salmon skin roll the second. On the second night, we squeezed in some dessert. I chose plain vanilla ice cream, and found it to be quite luxurious. My wife refused to share her peanut-buttery dessert concoction with me. The wine and beer are about average price for New York, which is to say a bit pricey for most of America. Both nights our server was "Panda," a delightful young lady with a lovely manner and a serious understanding of all aspects of food service.

A great find on a night in the city

By RouxTheDay |

We found our way to SuteiShi on a warm, summer night, wandering the city during a business trip. The doors/walls were open, and the breezes were perfect. The sounds of the city were not intrusive. The food and drinks were delicious, and our server made some perfect recommendations for rolls that none of us had tried before. It's not hard to find, and cabs (and Ubers) were easy to find both before and after. I'll be going back on my next visit to the city.

Pleasantly surprised

By VictoriousJane |

Popped in for an early dinner after wandering the seaport with our toddler and were super happy we did. Great sushi, especial the "fusion" sushi. Our toddler loved the veggie roll and the vegetable gyoza. Nice wine and beer selection. The staff were lovely as well, and very engaging with our daughter which is always extra points in our book. Would go back and for sure recommend.

Pleasantly surprised!

By lovetoworkout |

Went with a large group (40+) from work; We had a price fix menu with apps, wine and main course. I had the sushi/sashimi plate and it was awesome. While the place is tiny, the area we ate in opened up the wall for more of a sidewalk experience. everything was perfect! Surprised the staff was able to handle the large group in such a small place. There wasn't room for anyone else tho!

Overpriced

By Pamela M |

Nice place, but absolutely overpriced for what they offer. Basing on the location and the prices I was expecting higher quality and for sure better tasting food.

Love the service and food.

Love the service and food.

Lunch for 8

By Bill N |

Had a wonderful time, great food, great service. Several at the table enjoyed sushi and raved. We had appetizers of edamame, wasabi shumai, pork guyzaI tried house specialty of crispy hot shrimp, mmmmm.

Interesting rolls in a nice setting

By orrdin |

The restaurant is in a lovely spot and has indoor and outdoor seating. The menu has plenty of options and especially a good selection of Interesting maki rolls. Some items appear a bit overpriced but you can stick to basic staples that are reasonable and tasty.

I was thrilled

By linda b |

Wow, it is really hard to please me, but my lunch there was fabulous. Had sea weed salad, calamari salad and spicy tuna roll all of which I split with my friend. I don't live any where near there, but would travel to eat their food.

Best Sushi Ever

By Roger J |

Let's face it: there is Sushi/Sashimi and there is SuteiShi. The fish is so fresh it melts in the mouth, the rolls are tasty and the mayo does not spoiled everything as it would usually do. Service is excellent and some uncommon beer on the menu. I have paid three times more for half as good. Definitively recommended. Only one critic: the red lightening is not the best for food that is as much enjoyed visually than gustatoryly.

Super Fresh Sushi

By Tami K |

Suteishi never fails. Always fresh delicious sushi. The red dragon roll, eel hand rolls and oyster roll are some of my favorite, but you can't go wrong with tuna sashimi here either.

I never wanted my lunch to end.

By orlaith_palmer |

Beautifully designed restaurant with really really friendly and helpful staff. My daughter and I explained we were new to sushi and what flavours/ingredients we didn't like and without a blink of an eye the server helped us pick out and customise sushi which they then rolled for us. It was amazing, beautiful to look at and absolutely one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten, ever. We tried another place near Grand Central Station the next day and it was ugly, really confusing menu and unhelpful staff and the sushi was messy and unpleasant. There's no way I'll not visit here again and next time I'm coming hungry and ready to feast! If you've not tried it before or your kids haven't I can't recommend this place enough.

Good food and great service

By Suryavarman |

Loved the sushi and the presentation. Staff were friendly and helpful. Slightly pricey for the food. Parking available off the street. No complaints and no brownie points.

Wonderful!

By boardkat |

Just a short walk from the Financial District in the heart of the South Seaport, Suteishi is a great place to unwind after a hard day of work. Great drink specials 5:30-7 M-F [e.g., Sappporo - $2], and a small patio on the street to enjoy. The only place I go in the area to get my raw fish fix - very buttery salmon, wonderfully textured kanpachi; the "Perfect 10" is a heckuva deal if you're hungry and don't want to break the bank [10 pieces of chef's sushi choice, and a tuna roll]. The wait staff is very attentive and friendly, and try very hard to please. No doubt I'll be back again and again!!

So Good

By CurlyJames |

My husband and I both loved SUteiShi. The sushi was delicious and fresh. Can't recommend it enough.

Best sushi we’ve ever had

By Pennie |

We go to NYC every 2 years from BC Canada. We spend 10 days there and at least 2 of our dinners are here. That is probably the best review possible for a restaurant, because there is probably more competition in New York City than anywhere else in the world. And we eat here every time, 2 times. We will be back to NYC in May 2019 for 10 days and you can bet we will be here.

Poor Sushi

By Jessica |

The sushi is really poor quality. Nothing special and the price is really high considering what they offer.

Fast and fantastic sushi

By Kate G |

Stopped in for dinner. Great sushi for vegetarians! I really enjoyed the avocado roll and the roll with plum. Very fairly priced and quick service.

A hidden gem

By VanDammeHendriks |

Modern decor, very friendly staff, yummi sushi! We both got a basic sushi plate (sushi/sashimi and a tuna roll), wich was very nice... The front of the restaurant was opened up, so it was almost like you were sitting outside... Maybe a bit noisy sometimes, but lovely on a summer evening!

worth it!

By Moma2girls |

The sushi here is amazing, the service is amazing and yes, it is a little pricey but it is delicious and you are treated like a true guest. Loved the white tuna. It was all so delicious. Right down to the deep fried cheese cake! Just awesome, loved it. Loved our waitress too, she seemed to be at our every need-filling our wine glass when low, and just so sweet. Great place!

Great sushi and service

By mon_onc_steph |

Very nice dining experience. Staff is friendly and enthusiastic, sushi is great. We had the sushi & sashimi combo (called Duet) and sashimi will always tell you how fresh the fish is. Well every piece of that fish was fresh indeed. My son had the filet mignon on the "Hot Rocks", a small "hibachi" that they bring to the table, and which you use to grill the meat. He loved it, and raved about how tasty the filet mignon was. The location is great, you have a view of the Brooklyn bridge, the space is very open. Jeffrey was a great waiter.

Great

By Charlie D |

Its a gem! This place was great, we were a big group of 10 and the staff was super friendly and accommodating. We even had someone allergic to fish and the staff went out of there way to take good care of her. The fish was fresh and tasty, the kids had steak that they cooked on hot rocks and the desserts were fantastic. As you can tell i highly recommend this restaurant

Great food

By Fabian S |

Very good service, the staff were all the time around us, checking if we need anything, the sushi was fresh and well presented

Excellent sushi!

By WillG1519 |

We had dinner on a Friday evening and the restaurant was not busy at all, but it was very cold, windy and snow was forecasted, but our holiday spirit didn't dim. This was our third visit to SuteiShi, and it didn't disappoint. The service was prompt and the food came quickly. We ordered sushi for two and we both had a flight of sake. The three different sakes came with descriptions and all were distinctive and very good. The sushi order for two, the chef selects the entire order. We started with an octopus and seaweed salad. The flavors were delicate, none overpowering. This is always her favorite starter. We had 2 types of specialty rolls and 16 pieces of fusion sushi. Unfortunately, I can not remember any of the names of rolls or pieces. Every bite was delicious, each one savored. Each time we see this huge tray come out and wonder if we can finish it all...it has never been a problem, it was excellent. There are so many choices of eateries in the area, but we just enjoy this place so much, we keep coming back.

Nobu Downtown

By tablesedge |

Fried oyster roll, yellow tail w/ jalapenos rival Nobu. Owner Stacy makes this a particularly special place. Wonderful food, atmosphere.

Great food, but to much plastic packaging for delivery.

By Andre Lukin |

The food and service are good. The restaurant is located in a great neighborhood. The only one down side (this is why I ranked as average) is that if you order food to be delivered there are lots of plastic containers that could be avoided. So we do not order from SUteiShi anymore since the restaurant is not environmentally friendly in terms of packaging for delivery. If SUteiShi use compostable packaging instead of plastic, I will be happy to order again.

BEST SUSHI IN FIDI

By TBWendy |

The best sushi in lower Manhattan! We love so many dishes but especially love the red dragon and orange dragon and the hot and crispy shrimp! This place is a family favorite!! We love going in person and also ordering at home. We dine here or have delivery least once a week as it is our absolute favorite go to restaurant! Love Renee and the entire family establishment, they are the best and are always treating customers as family and with such priority. LOVE LOVE LOVE!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️🍣🍣🍣🍣🍣🍣🍣❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

SuteiShi - the Best Sushi

By EandRNYC1 |

By far SuteiShi has the freshest sushi in town - and that is saying something in NYC. The food is beautifully presented by friendly ad efficient staff. Ambience modern and comfortable.

Creative Dining With Great Service

By louwave |

This is a great Japanese style restaurant with many different variations on sushi including the additions of mango, jalapeno, caviar, etc. The white salmon is out of this world. The staff know the menu well and seem to enjoy themselves tremendously while working. All a plus.

Fresh Seafoods

By johnson l |

I got recommended from Best Western front desk, Joanne. Loving it. The seafood is so fresh and tasty. I will come again and again here!

Rude hostes

By maura a |

Very rude hosts, I entered and requested a table for one person, The hosts told me to sit at a table outside (it's already 9:30pm) I choose a table for 4 people, those from one were too close to other customers and too crowded around. I patiently wait for a waiter to take care of me and my order The hostes after minutes I was waiting , she jump on me and in rude way telling me that this was a table of 4 and I had to move to the single one. I immediately move my staff in the other table and I just tell her , And I wanted to point out to the hosts that it would be correct that she had made me sit where she thought it was best and I told her that I had not chosen the small table because it was too crowded, At that point, The hostes took off my menu and cutlery and invited me to leave the restaurant, I'm speechless, I'm always super respectful with everyone . Be treated in that way ... she talk me that I was rude , me rude..... omg I'm really disappointed I live in the neighborhood and I attend the restaurant with a certain assiduity, this person is new, I hope that the management notices his unhospitable and very rude attitude

Nice vegetarian options

By Zenlibrarian |

Really enjoyed the Jade sushi. Very clean, fun modern restaurant. Would go back again if in area. Right across street from hotel.

Wonderful sushi

By Jackie H |

Really great food, ambiance and fabulous service.Packed out on Saturday night so book ahead. We were recommended some dishes whilst waiting for the rest of our party. Absolutely charming

Late Lunch yet quite a choice

By gilardoni |

We arrived very late:15.00 and the restaurant stops service at 15.30, but there was no problem. We had a calamari salad and a choice of sushi which was particularly fresh: Uni, sea scallops and some special rolls with Tobiko. Some interesting sake, and a decent price.

Good but expensive dinner – 4 out of 5 rating

By Bottomshelfhockey |

The 3 of us came to this restaurant for dinner based on research. When we arrived on this Tuesday evening it was busy but we were seated right away. We ordered the following: • Kimono Roll ($15) - Spicy salmon, avocado, masago and white truffle oil wrapped in kelp paper • Sashimi special ($30) - Six types of select sashimi, 17 pieces including scallops, tuna and salmon (farmed, not sockeye salmon) • Grilled black cod ($14) - Grilled black cod with ginger miso, sauteed broccoli and shaved white carrots • Yasai Yaki Udon ($13) - cabbage, asparagus, red bell peppers, broccoli, mushrooms and stir fried onions with udon noodles • The Jade ($10) – deep fried banana, campyo and avocado roll The Kimono roll was good and the sashimi was fresh. The grilled black cod was okay and the udon was good. It’s hard to ruin the vegetable udon dish unless you overcook the noodles and vegetables. The noodles were a bit expensive for the portion size. The Jade was an interesting roll – a bit sweet because of the banana and I didn’t really care for it. The total meal cost before tips came to $89.28. Breakdown of rating as follows: • Food taste: 4 out of 5 • Food value / portion size: 3 out of 5 rating. Coming from Canada everything has a 35% - 40% premium due to the foreign exchange. A little on the expensive side even without the foreign exchange. • Ambience: 3.5 out of 5; busy and a little on dark side for me. Modern décor. • Service: 3.5 out of 5 – good but still can be improved. Dishes arrived in a timely manner. The server was friendly. Our Japanese friend said she was “in heaven” because of the tasty dishes. In my opinion, the food was good but my expectations and ratings are lower (partially due to the pricing); still “4 star” good for the overall eating experience but definitely not “5 star” excellent. Notes and Tips: • Vegetarian options • Restaurant is located in the Seaport district about .5 miles (800 meters) from the Andaz Wall Street Hotel (Lower Manhattan, financial district). See my hotel review. • Check out the restaurant website. Website menu leaves a lot to be desired if you want to check out the restaurant offerings. • We also ate at 2 other Japanese restaurants during our 6 day stay, Haru and Izakaya Mew. Suteishi was the best of the three, followed by Izakaya Mew and Haru. See my reviews.

Good

By Pablo P |

Very good menu with a quite expanded selection if rolls and others to taste. A bit expensive in my opinion but the location and quality makes it an option to consider. Very kind service.

Great sushi

By mhpNYC |

This is a popular sushi hangout for me and my friends. It's always fresh and plentiful. I love the specialty options like the the "pearl" which is sushi made with fried oyster (trust me it's yummy). They also have happy hour beers and sake cocktails. My friend swears by the mochi (ice cream wrapped in sticky rice cake) which is flown in all the way from Hawaii. Suteishi is located on the corner at the end of the new "restaurant row" near the seaport.

Innovative and awesome sushi and reasonable prices

By andal03 |

Quite a pleasant surprise. Loved the sushi and the black cod dish, definitely will go back. Service was also excellent... would clean the restrooms a bit more though... but I can live with that :-)

Completely Average

By ChanaJane3 |

There was nothing remotely special about this place. The sushi was average. The service is average. The prices were average. The spicy tuna was not good. But the gyoza were good. Everything else just average.

If you want enjoy your meal and finish it don't go after 8.30!

By Rhona R |

The food was excellent I won't dispute that. What went wrong was that they took our booking at 9.30pm and didn't tell us they closed at 10pm. We ordered the omakase - pretty much the most expensive thing on the menu and was presented with the bill whilst we were still eating and told they were closing. We don't even think we were given the full meal advertised in the omakase. They just want your money and they don't care about the customers or service. We were appalled by their attitude and will certainly NOT return. My suggestion is the restaurant takes out the option on their website to book tables after 9pm if you wish to actually enjoy and finish your meal.

Great food and lovely location

By Cait |

I went here for lunch and had a mix of dishes with my friend. The sushi and sashimi was excellent. The wine choice was good and the servings generous. The location was lovely too. I'll definitely try here again.

Amazing Omakase

By Matt S |

Delicious Omakase for two. The hostess and waitstaff were attentive and knowledgable about the menu. I would definitely go back here.

Sushi night

By Lucia D |

Sushi 🍣 night Enjoyed our sushi night at suteishi. Kids had a great time with their filet cooking on the steaming Rock at the table. I enjoyed the rolls and the tuna "ravioli". Interesting and fun for our whole group. One member of our group was gluten free and allergic to almost everything l and yet they were able to please her fully too.

Seaport Sushi

By AJAX6965 |

A return visit to Suteishi did not disappoint. Excellent sushi. Seafood Udon also huge and excellent. Took half home. Not full on a Friday lunch so not noisy. Priced ok. Wonderful friendly service.

Great Sushi

By Mark B |

Great food and service. The server was extremely courteous and friendly and he made our experience outstanding. The sushi was awesomely delicious and recommended by the Hyatt Hotel. Definitely recommend for great food and service.

Sushi Spectacular

By todbo |

This little restaurant neat many tourist traps is a true bargain, although it is NOT bargain priced. The sushi is outstanding, and the cooked dishes are perfectly prepared. You may pay a little more than at nearby run-of-the-mill restaurants, but every penny will be well spent.

Good Sushi in the Area

By Adamskigell |

This place has good quality sushi at reasonable prices. The fish is all fresh and the restaurant is good for both eating in and ordering for delivery. I have never had any issues with the quality of the food or the quality of the service.

Loved it - really great sushi

By Sue G |

Great place - the sashimi was a little bit more inventive than the usual which made it absolutely amazing! It was very fresh. The location is brilliant - you can see the Brooklyn Bridge from your table. I would love to go back - but there's a big old world to explore so maybe one day ........................

Excellent Sushi in a beautiful, neighborhood environment

By Spiderquadrifoglio |

A great spot a block away from the Seaport, SUteiShi offers some of the best sushi I have had anywhere in the States. Extremely fresh and delicate with some creative combinations. Their Angelfish is like candy. The space is casual/romantic/intimate and very nicely decorated with a warm, contemporary decor. Service is excellent. Price is more than your garden variety sushi joint, but much less than the Nobu type experience, and I rate it as an excellent value for the quality of food that you receive. There are about a dozen small, outdoor tables and one side of the restaurant is a huge roll-up glass door that turns the entire dining room into an al-fresco dining experience when the weather is nice. Great view of the Brooklyn Bridge and the historic 1800's buildings surrounding Peck Slip and Front Street.

Wow!

By Antonio Petrarchi |

Best Sushi place I've ever eaten so far at. Fish is so fresh, delicate and tasty. Recommended.

Fresh Quality Elegantly Presented

By Voyager770380 |

Happy to find a great sushi place in Seaport/Financial district. Went for lunch. I had the sashimi which was extremely fresh and elegantly presented. Friends had miso soup and tempura. Everyone was delighted with their choice.

Better than Nobu

By AnnaPDX |

I ate at both Suteishi and Nobu in the same week and Suteishi was by far a much better experience. The sushi at Suteishi is more creative and tasted amazing. The dishes we tried are more unique and delicious. The atmosphere at Suteishi is more intimate, friendly and quiet. A much nicer experience overall. I would definitely chose Suteishi over Nobu.

pleasant brunch; great suishi

By wellwell |

Sunday morning we were walking around South Street Seaport area, and found this sleek restaurant/bar with tables also on the sidewalk. We had a great brunch: my friend had a huge portion of fluffy scrambled eggs over zucchini, potato pancake and bacon; I had udon noodles with stir-fried vegetables and complimentary green tea. Great service.

Best Japanese we’ve ever had

By Madhusudhan V |

The food was absolutely amazing! All of the food recommended to us by Tommy, our waiter, were perfect. All of us loved the dining experience and the food was divine. Totally recommend this restaurant for amazing Japanese food and service.

Suteishi resurrected

By mizmomo |

This excellent place got destroyed by Sandy. It's back and better than ever! Creative, super fresh sushi, friendly service, one of my favorites!

Very good sushi, nice vibe, great location

By jetsetfoodie |

Stopped in for a quick lunch during late afternoon. Service was very fast and efficient. The sushi was very good. I had the red dragon roll and spicy tuna roll. The specialty drinks are also excellent. I had the saketini. The location is scenic and quiet - near the water but also accessible and not too far from public transportation.

Always the Best sushi in Town

By Rickyus-newyork |

It's Always a pleasure to come here at this restaurnat, they make one of the best sushi in town. Last time was not so perfect, but this time. I found a he some level before the close foe the Hurricane problem.

Sushi w/ pretty nice outside seating for NYC

By Jason M |

Normal upscale sushi place with varied menu. What was really nice though was that its off in a quiet corner of town, outside seating is peaceful, little traffic either on foot or car. Totally perfect for a nice sidewalk diner.

What a great experience

By 1959Seamom |

Great food, great service. Small, cozy and pleasant venue. Food was excellent. Servers were very pleasant. It seems like a new location and they're doing a great job getting it started.

Sushi & Saketini

By JM W |

This is a delightful little restaurant with fresh and delicious sushi. If you sit at the bar, you can watch the "sushi artists" put together some beautiful dishes. Make sure to order a peach saketini while you are there!!!

Best Sushi in NU financial district

By Debbie E |

I'm not in the habit of writing reviews, but being stuck in downtown NY for work for the week with no time to do anything but walk to local restaurants, and being a big sushi fan, I dined last night at ISE and tonight at Suetishi. The food at ISE was okay, the sushi chefs were very quick and professional in delivering the food, but the waitress was terrible (never returned to the table after I ordered-I had to flag down others for water, a second drink, dessert, and ultimately had to go to the host to pay). Contrast that with tonight at Suteishi. Great service, phenomenal food (the Wavecrest is a must have), really good music, and the restaurant isn't cold-it's warm in here. If I didn't have plans up town with friends tomorrow, I would definitely be back here.

Great sushi.

By Jeanne M |

A great find on any occasion but especially welcome if you're staying in the financial district. Wonderful service, very fresh sushi, and quiet, spacious dining area. Highly recommended.

The return of a great option downtown

By TGMerrill |

Near the seaport, Suteishi was flooded last year during Storm Sandy and just re-opened with a fresh, new look. The staff is hip but courteous. The menu is similar to what it was pre storm; I recommend any of the specialty rolls. Definitely worth a stop if touring that part of New York or if you live or work downtown.

Fantastic Find in an otherwise busy area

By Summerdays |

This place is so close to South Street Seaport that the location is fantastic if you're touring the neighborhood or doing some shopping at the Seaport; however, located just a few short blocks away, it doesn't feel crowded and congested like the rest of the local restaurants & bars do. While the sushi is fantastic, I also recommend trying some of the other menu items as well. The Beef Negamaki is great, and the Hot & Crispy shrimp is out of this world. I recommend trying a few of the Tapas plates to share with your whole party - we even ended up ordering an extra order of the Hot & Crispy shrimp because we loved it so much. I would definitely recommend steering clear of the overpriced restaurants in the Seaport and coming here instead.

Best sushi in FIDi

By Blaw10 |

It is great to have the place open again after hurricane sandy closed it for over a year. The sushi is incredibly fresh and the servers are very friendly.

Something different no as always

By Rickyus-newyork |

I was fun of this Sushi palce but last time that i was there I did not have the same quality of sushi as before. I don't know if tange chef after the problem that they have with the Hurricane, but was different For me was the best sushi in Nyc no this time.

Fun, funky and fantastic sushi....

By Amy K |

We did the chef's tasting menu and it was fab! Not exactly the same type of rolls and presentation you might expect, but not so far out that it was uncomfortable in any way or even distracting. We enjoyed every bite. Service was great, too. We will add this to our local rotation!

Amazing sushi

By kawa07 |

I only really order this on seamless, and every time it is consistently good! It is not cheap but worth it for good sushi, of which there are no other places in the financial district that compare!

Nothing but Sushi

By VivianeSafwat |

The menu is only for sushi. So make sure that you like it as there are no other options. Prices are on the high side as the area and city are expensive.

Nice Outside Tables!

By misopiso88 |

I was visiting in the summer and it was nice to sit outside and enjoy the lovely weather in the Seaport District. Sushi was delicious.

Not worth trying

By NorthStar |

Disappointing, given that it has some good reviews for the food. We thought it was distinctly average and overpriced for the poor quality sushi we had. Service and setting were fine. Table was dirty to start with which was off putting. Dragon roll was good. Salmon sashimi was chewy. Edamame were soggy and overcooked. Yellowtail with jalapeño was spoilt by a sweet yellow sauce which overpowered the taste of the fish. Overall 2/10 and not worth another visit.

Great atmosphere + tasty food

By danibrig |

This was a great find. I was staying very nearby and felt like eating sushi -- this restaurant was in the perfect location. Although somewhat simple, it had a great atmosphere, and very nice options for those who like sushi and also those who prefer other foods. I found that the food was tasty, yet a bit simplistic for the price of it (the non sushi items). However, it was a very great experience overall.

Clean and pristine

By Carl R |

The four of us had hot crispy shrimp @ 15.00, pacific Jewel @16.00, Red Dragon @ 16.00, shrimp tempura roll @ 9.00. You are going to spend about 25.00 per person without alcohol. So the total bill for 4 was $105.97. But...trendy as it is, the service was excellent, the food was perfect, and it was absolutely filled with local office workers at high noon. Expensive, but worth it

Love this - especially since is close to home 😁

By Madeline C |

Great ambience, staff, and delicious food! If you are in the seaport area, make sure you make your way to this restaurant

Wonderful Sushi!! Great outside seating!

By JablonJD |

Wonderful Sushi and great outside seating! We went Saturday night and there was a nice breeze outside and nice view of the Brooklyn Bridge. Good to be out during these crazy times.

Average sushi restaurant in Pearl St/Lower Manhattan

Was here for dinner on a rainy spring evening - not impressed with the sushi. The food is not bad - just not outstanding, and I was expecting more given the choices in Manhattan. I would characterize the food as more fusion than authentic Japanese. The atmosphere is relaxed and chill and the service is good, friendly and prompt. The prices are on the high side.

Seaport treat

By AJAX6965 |

The best sushi in the Seaport. Fresh fresh fresh. Cozy. Clean, good service. It is our go-to place in the Financial District. Never disappoints.

Worth coming to south seaport.

OK, the seating and the decor are not special, but other than that - it's perfect. Very unique and yummy rolls. You could feel the freshness of the fish. The price is reasonable as well.

Absolutely my favorite dining downtown!

The wide assortment of sashimi and sushi (vegetarians -- ask for the vegetarian sushi platter!) and the great atmosphere especially when their wall goes up. Friendly staff, excellent service.

Fresh and delicious!

Never let down by there fresh sushi and sashimi! Be sure to try the Suteshi Pearl Roll with oysters - it's the best!

Ok but not good enough to go back

By Golfermom28 |

Busy place on a Wednesday evening around 7:30-8pm Was hungry enough to stay when after sitting they had no AC on and wide open window type doors Are they kidding me hot as heck in downtown NYC and not an ounce of air moving The temp in place was 82 as set on wall temp indicator It also said they had AC off I am sorry but when having sushi raw fish when hot inside is not as appetizing However the staff was mostly nice and accommodating polite when I needed say paper and asked for something else Had gyoza very good and miso eggplant A little underdone and miso was not gentle and had a thickness I have not seen before My cut tempura roll was bland and not that good at all ended up Not eating it after a bite Not worth the cost at all Save yourself especially with no AC in a NYC summer

Fresh and tasty

My husband and I had noticed Suteishi on our last stay in the South Street Seaport area a year ago, and we decided to try it for lunch when we arrived for our most recent stay at the Best Western across the street. The hotel staff recommended it highly. The tables are set simply but with an elegant look. The menu has several interesting items in addition to standard sushi house items. We ordered the grilled calamari salad, the tuna avocado roll, and the Samurai roll (spicy blue crab, cucumber, red snapper, and avocado). All of it was fresh and good, but it is pricey--for just those 3 items (no drinks), lunch was over $50 with tip. We are used to much less expensive sushi meals in our hometown near Washington, DC, but after all this is New York City so you probably have to expect higher prices. It was a nice day and they had the window side that we were sitting on rolled up so that it was like a sidewalk café. For the most part that was nice, but occasionally we were hit with a bad smell that seemed to come from the street or other nearby area. If we eat there again when it is "open air," we would probably ask for an inside table to reduce the chance of an unpleasant smell.

Traditional susihi and fusion items

The sushi was fresh and tasty. I did have one of there fusion rolls and it was very good-even though I prefer traditional sushi.

Quality Decreased with Inflation

By alexkathryn2017 |

Love this place and have spent hundreds if not thousands of dollars here. They recently raised prices by 10% on sushi rolls but provide lower quality rolls. This was my favorite sushi in all of New York City, but recently the sushi was mostly rice and doused with sesame seeds. Additionally, the sushi (spicy salmon) had bones in it and other weird items that I couldn't fully chew. I hope they turn it around because I won't be going back until the rolls return to their usual quality.

Great Service, Very Fresh, Price a Bit Too High

Obviously, this is a bit out of the way for most NYC visits, unless you're down at the warf, or getting tickets from the TKS office for a show downtown later that day ... so, considering the many other sushi places that you could eat closer to your other plans - eat at those instead, for convenience. Now, let's suppose that you're down there, and you crave sushi - it's good. The service is great. But at nearly $20 for a specialty roll, and easily $60 for a meal for two without drinks. If you're going, because it certainly is good food, then I highly recommend the miso soup - it was excellent and clearly made fresh with a chef's recipe rather than a standard mix of some kind as many (even fancy!) sushi places fall back on. They also have some of the more delicate flavors and fresh sashimi (shrimp, urchin, etc), and a really nice specialty roll with fresh mango. Again, everything was lovely, and maybe it's NY prices for sushi ... but that's just my take! If you're in the area, at the very least grab a bowl of miso! :)

Great find at the edge of a rather touristy neighborhood

By german_in_nyc |

Even though close to South Street Seaport, probably not a lot of people stumble in to this restaurant at the far end of Front Street, almost under the Brooklyn Bridge, . But that makes it an even better find. It's modern decor and upbeat music provide a nice change from typical Japanese restaurants. The menu is inventive and extensive enough, and the food delicious. We sampled dishes from all sections of the menu and were delighted. The staff was efficient and friendly. All in all nothing to complain about--an overall very pleasant experience.

Fresh Fish keeps me coming back

By Michael S |

Very Fresh Fish. Great sides/starter options. I can't get enough of their tuna, pork gyoza, and my girlfriend is addicted to cooking the filet mignon on the hot rocks. Not crowded at night, a great place for a quick meal with friends. It's easy to go overboard on the menu and order multiple rolls, but then the cost starts adding up. But your dollar can go as far as you want it. Drinks are reasonable, fish prices can add up, but there are several good and inexpensive options available. I order weekly, and go there almost as often.
