Very cute and cozy spot, and the food was great! Highly recommend the noodles (especially udon!), but everything that we ordered at the table was delicious - including the vegetable spring rolls and red curry. Definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time as the restaurant is small but gets busy! They do have outdoor seating, although be prepared with a jacket as it can be a little chilly.

Located at the old location of Baraonda on Second Avenue and 75th Street, Thep offers excellent quality Thai food at reasonable prices. We have been there several times, and it has not disappointed. Especially good is the Tamarind Duck and the Branzino. Very friendly, attentive staff. This is my new local "go-to" restaurant for Thai food. I highly recommend a visit.

This place was pretty crowded, not typical seating, We were seated outside first right next to a trash can so we asked to be seated inside and had to wait. it was bench style in one part where we were- not a good place for conversation because you can't really talk to people across from you. Felt kind of claustrophobic. Food was pretty good, flavorful and they had good vegetarian options like the pad see ew and spicy basil friend rice.

I have been there 2 times already. The restaurant is pretty, great appetizers and delicious red curry. The presentation is great as well. I am happy for an alternative to Up Thai which is impossible to get into.

This was our second visit. The prior year we had a very nice experience. Unfortunately, there must’ve been a change in the operation of the restaurant . We had a group of five adults, and we only given two menus. They took our drink order immediately, before the drinks are served, they asked three times take our order two minutes. We placed our order and the troubles began. Two members of our party had their food served, the other two had their food partially served. Remaining portion of their meals took about another 10 minutes. The last meal was served about 15 minutes after the others. This made for quite an awkward experience. While we were eating in the course of 15 minutes, we were asked five times if we were finished . to top it off one member of our party had the food on two plates as they were different entrées and the waitress actually took the food off of one plate and placed on another plate and removed the original plate while the individual was eating from the plate she removed! Another member of our party had to literally hold her plate so the waitress did not remove it before she was finished. The restaurant was half full and the rudeness of the entire wait staff was inexplicable. To top it off on the bill, it already included a tip. Then they presented electronic signing without the paper bill, and pointed to the tip selection menu, saying to please leave a tip. Fortunately, we looked at the bill earlier and noted on the second page that they automatically added a tip. This is a deceptive practice. As others have written, it clearly is a place that they do not want you to spend any time there. It is quite unfortunate that this restaurant which has good food does not have service to match. Perhaps the management was not there because the restaurant needs somebody running their dining room, if it wants to stay in business

It's a tiny place and they pack them in - but the food is to savor and enjoy! SO GOOD! We were here several months ago and came back to try more - everything is delicious. It's fast paced - check out the menu before you go, be prepared to have to scan it at the table if you need to look at it. Know what you want - they won't rush you once you have your meals, but they do want to take your order quickly once you're seated. There is a long table that is used for communal seating as well as small tables. We've been seated at both and preferred the communal table. It's still private and we had enough space. You pick your dish and then your protein - chicken, shrimp, tofu... for most entrees.

This is our go to neighborhood Thai restaurant. They just nail the flavor on all fronts. Every dish I’ve had here has been great, and I’ve had a bunch.

The Upper East Side really needed a good Thai restaurant to go along with Jaiya and THEP fills that void. I really enjoy the various curry styles for duck, chicken or seafood. There are vegetarian selections too, so that all your guests will have multiple choices. The costs are reasonable making the food quality to price ratio very high.

THEP is a relatively new eatery but has already established itself as one of the best Thai restaurants in NYC. The food is not overwhelmed by spices but it’s very tasty and fresh. You get very friendly service from the staff and if you come early enough to eat while their happy hour is on, you get your drinks at half price.

We popped in here for lunch, the food was delicious! Fresh, tasty and flavoursome. The service was great too, polite and attentive.

Googled Thai restaurants near me. 25 of the best came up. Looked at several, Thep caught our interest. The menu as well as the decor. So we ventured out. A little bus ride away. We were warmly welcomed and decided to sit outside as it was very inviting. Crispy Spring Roll and Herb Wings to start. I had Pad Kee Mao with Tofu My spouse had Spicy Union with Chicken I had Singha Thai Beer My spouse had a ginger ale. I can’t believe the food would be better in Thailand! Service was excellent! Didn’t have to go after the staff, they were very attentive! Will go back in a flash!

We decided to stop and eat dinner and let the traffic died down some so headed to Up Thai - no dice, long wait - so this place was just up the street and we walked right in to a table. It did get busy later almost immediately after we arrived though and the tables are close together and the place was loud, took some getting used to. Food was awesome, curry was not overly spicy, tea leaf salad was refreshing. Hit the spot!

Great outdoor seating!! Drinks are so delicious, definitely going to bring more people here! lovely atmosphere

Best Thai Food on Upper East Side. Everything is delicious. My friend and I didn't have reservations and they were able to seat us at the bar (with the solo regulars).

Visited this restaurant with my mom and sister today 3/30/19 for lunch. My sister recommended this establishment, as I am Chef and Foodie I say this is one of best Thai restaurants I ever been to. The three of us ordered noodle dishes, my sister and I ordered spicy Udon noodles, my sister had the vegan, and I had the crispy duck, both were remarkable and I enjoyed the true Thai fire which was magnificent, our mom ordered the Drunken Noodles with chicken. The Food is top notch, and the service was commendable as the host and our server was wonderful. I Highly Recommend THEP Thai Restaurant for your next Thai meal.

Great decor Great service Good food at amazing price for lunch Salad +appetizer +thai iced tea +veggie padthai for TEN BUCKS

We visited THEP for a birthday celebration. Arrived at 5:30 to avail of their happy hour from 5-6. Had beer, Prosecco, martini style cocktails and margarita cocktails on it for $8. Very reasonable. The lemon drop martini was delish! For food we had three starters between us - golden sachets, satay chicken and steamed chicken dumplings. Portion size was very good, was nearly too full after the starters. Would definitely recommend the golden sachets! For mains we had the Garlic goddess and the Pad Thai. Golden goddess was amazing, veggies were so fresh and prawns were big and juicy. Pad Thai was way too sweet for us and unfortunately we had to send it back with only a few bites taken. The restaurant itself is very cute, and had a great atmosphere. All Asian staff that were very efficient and professional. We left around 8 and the queue was out the door so would recommend coming earlier to guarantee a place!

I was carving Thai food on a Saturday afternoon and decided to randomly give this restaurant a try after seeing that it was close by and had good online ratings. I'm so glad I did! I'm a vegetarian and the pad thai with vegetables was light, fresh, and nicely seasoned. Delicious! And my drink was great as well. The service was also pleasant and prompt, plus I loved the patio ambience. Great weekend afternoon spot!

We enjoyed this bustling little corner Thai restaurant on 2nd Ave. on the Upper East Side. We researched and knew to order the volcano chicken, which was amazing and the drunken noodles, which was delicious! The service, from the hosts to the servers, to our sweet waitress, was excellent. Highly recommend!

its v difficult to eat good thai food outside thailand. the food here was v good. service was thai and polite. we are happy to find this gem

Me and my gf come here regularly. From day one the staff treated us like family. We love the food. I'm half Thai and my mom says this reminds her of Thailand. Nice interior with outside seating. Alot of people that used to go to Up Thai have now started to go here. Make a RSVP because it gets busy which is obviously a good thing!

I was denied service because I had a service dog. I will never return to this restaurant again. They really need to update their "policies" to align with that of the Federal Government's policies. Denying a service dog is against the law and discriminatory to people with special needs.

We accidentally walked into this restaurant while looking for another Thai restaurant nearby... A very fortunate mistake because this was one of the best Thai experiences we have had. The restaurant was loud and busy and our family sat on a communal table which added to the fun. Most importantly the food was outstanding. Delicious taste, texture and variety and outstanding quality. A definite restaurant to experience when visiting New York.

Solid place. Good Thai food. Service was ok. Ate here with friends and they deliver to residents nearby.

We opted for a shared starter platter which arrived quickly and came with a variety of hot, sweet and sour dipping sauces. Ideal for family and friends to start the dinner and conversation. The place quickly filled up with an eclectic mix of people which tends to typify NYC. The atmosphere is noisy, busy and pleasant, the staff are attentive. The curries are predictably delicious although I opted for the striped bass which arrived in a large dish with the cooking sauces and a side dish of hot sauce if required. I the fish was delicious and tender. Watch out for dishes containing nuts, but the Thep has carefully highlighted these on the menu for extra caution. All of the dishes in my group of family and friends were presented very pleasantly. Prices are not too bad either.

This place is very good. It’s just as good as Up Thai a block away. We tried several dishes and all were very tasty. And of course the pad Thai was really good.

food was flavorful, somewhat unique thai food. prices appropriate and portions generous. excellent service

We order in from Thep just about every other week, and we were hitting it even harder during the height of the pandemic. The food is always good and the value is there too- big portions with enough leftover for the next day. Some of our go tos are the Thai sausage fried rice, calamari, chive pancake, and khao soi noodle; we've never been disappointed.

Like this restaurant a lot. Luncheon specials are a bargain. Food is fresh and excellent; spice is as you order it, so if you like your food mild, it will come that way; if you like it authentically hot, it will also come that way, too. Large menu and very nice servers.

This is an authetic thai place. Taste of food is the same, after my trip to Thailand i can finally recognize real thai food. Staff is very friendly and they have lunch special starting at 10$ that includeds: appetizer, salad or soup, drink and main dish. Amazing deal! I definitely recommend this place :)

The Upper East Side was never noted for any great culinary experiences...well...that tradition continues with THEP Thai restaurant...the food was bland..mediocre..and an addition to the numerous other mediocre restaurants in this part of the city...it appears that its goal is to cater to people who have never experienced really good Thai food...underspiced..cloyingly sweet food is NOT real Thai...save your money and travel to Elmhurst or Woodside for the real deal

I was not there for food, but was truly impressed by their drinks. The atmosphere was great and did see many enjoying their good. A must try.

We have been going there weekly for the past 2 months or so. We've tried everything. My favorites are the: Chicken Pad See Ew and Siamese Fried Rice with Chicken. My girlfriend loves the Pad Thai. The service is excellent, we like sitting outside or at the bar. Bartenders make great drinks as well! From someone who is half Thai and has been to Thailand many times. The food is very authentic and the décor. Give it a shot if you are in NYC!

Going to start out by saying that I called them on Thursday asking if 6pm on a Sunday is busy- They responded "NO PROBLEM" Got to the restaurant at 6pm and explained that we were waiting for one more guest. They seated us, set the cramped table for 3 and were back in 1 minute to ask for our order. I explained again that we were waiting for one more guest...basically thereafter 2 other servers asked for our food and drink order where I responded the same way. By the 10th minute the OBNOXIOUS maitre d' came to our table telling us that we NEEDED to order either drinks or appetizers bc we were sitting at the table for "so long" without ordering. At this time I noticed that there was still NO wait or line for seating. I was firm and after he tried to nudge me into ordering an appetizer that I did not want, I showed him the texts indicating that my sister was two minutes away. HOW obnoxious and bizarre. This restaurant has good food at decent prices BUT it is located in MANHATTAN where there is good food at decent prices in millions of other locations. No need to take there crap while eating their food. Buh Bye Thep - never again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This restaurant is really good the food is amazing and the employees are very professional and friendly you should try it !!!

Wow....a great Thai food restaurant doesn't get much better than this. Amazing service, interesting dishes, well priced and the food couldn't have been better! We started with the sampler platter which, while wasn't loaded with a lot of food, was a perfect starter for two people. Everything on it was amazing and it came with 4 dipping sauces. We then had a noodle dish that was out of this world. There are a lot of Thai options on the Upper East Side and, so far...this is one of the best!

Came on a Tuesday evening with my friends and we were seated immediately. There food was very tasty, my favorite dish was the khao soi which is a Thai northern curry noodle. Their service was amazing, im from thailand and i know great thai food when i see it.

We went to this Thai last minute and so glad we did. Quickly show to our table at lunchtime on a Sunday. We had chicken satay and chicken pad Thai and also shrimp pad Thai. Really delicious food served piping hot. Would definitely go again if I was in town and highly recommend

The food was great. I had the mussels. I could have just taken a hunk of bread and soaked up all the sauce and been very happy. The pork chop was well flavored and the portion was huge. The service was excellent and we were seated right away even though it was packed on a Sunday night. The only bone I have to pick with them is the bill. The bottom of the bill contains a tip chart which is normally very helpful. Two issues the chart starts at 20% and not 15 or 18 and when you look at it closely you see they show the tip on the food and the tax, not just the food. I don’t know if this is purposeful or just a computer glitch. As any New Yorker knows you double the tax you get to 17.75% and you can use that number as a guide to calculate a tip.

I have been here several time in the last few months and have greatly enjoyed the food and ambiance. We tried the curry, pad see ew, and pad thai, all of which were solid. The food comes quickly, the service is prompt and prices are fair. If you like sitting down after your meal and relaxing with a glass of water or coffee/tea this may not be the place for you as they tend to flip the tables quickly, especially when the dining area is full and people are waiting. Servers will hover near your table when its your time to leave. I keep going there fully knowing this and don't mind but it may be unsettling for certain folks. This isn't unique considering the other Thai places in the area.

This is a new restaurant in the Upper East Side and it is a "must go" place. The food is fantastic, the service is impeccable and the price is fine. A three course lunch meal range from $11 to $14.

I've tried couple of Thai restaurant in the states and I found that this place kinda nailed it. It's not 100% Thai authentic taste but it does fuse with the western flavor quite well. Would really recommend to try it out.

Amazing food but felt so rushed by the staff. Can’t fault the food but the service was so OTT, as soon as we sat down it was as they wanted us to leave. Immediately asking for our order and then the food arriving within minutes. Don’t come here if you want a relaxing meal but fine if you are in a rush

I am a travel writer and I have been on a thai kick recently. I am EXTREMELY picky......I wanted to try a place that I have not been before...I came into this small well decorated restaurant to get a wine and an appetizer......wine list by the glass are very important because it sets the tone...I sat down and was waited on by JOY!!!!!!!! What a gem she is!!!!!!! I ordered a lovely glass of rose and the spring rolls.......so good! The restaurant has a warm and inviting feeling and the attention to detail...they really pay attention to details! I ordered another wine and the steam shrimp dumplings........AMAZING! I wanted to specifically thank JOY!!! She made my experience perfect!!!! I look forward to going back!

Wow. Healthy Thai food !!! Get the sweet potato pad Thai. Feel fresh and light afterwards. Great tequila options too ! Highly recommend.

Have only been able to use it for delivery but the food is excellent and the prices are very good. They also deliver very promptly which is always a bonus!

On a rainy Saturday night, we looked up from our umbrellas to find ourselves at Thep, and while the restaurant was hopping, there were two seats at the bar and we were lucky enough to get them for an outstanding dinner. The staff is warm, friendly and accommodating. The room is inviting with hanging plants and macramé creating a lively atmosphere. Our cocktails were perfection, and dinner was--perhaps the best Thai food we have ever tasted. I started with the Kra-pow Puffs--delicate pastry filled with chicken, cheese and basil with a tasty dipping sauce. And my Pad Thai was absolutely perfect-- a delicious, satisfying and ample portion. Highly recommended!

Small but cozy. Fast service and food prep. For NYC good prices. Outdoor seating also. Sauce choices with meat/seafood options. Basil chicken nice and spicy. Served with white rice. Got the platter to share for app. Little oily but tasty.

My shrimp pad see ewe contained six jumbo shrimp and a delicious sauce and stayed out throughout the meal.

Hi. Good food but very loud crowd when we were there. Had a starter and a main course and that was plenty of food for 1 person.

I came here for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised by their lunch menu consisting of a starter, a soup or salad, a drink and a main course. I chose fried calamari, green salad, That iced tea and the lemongrass pork chop. I loved the iced tea and the pork chop. It was a delicious lunch.

My friends and I just came across this restaurant after attending the Global Citizen Concert. OMG, the food and drinks were amazing. We came close to the closing, therefore I could not really savor the moment. But I will return with more time to fully enjoy the experience. It was 4 of us, we each ordered something different. EVERYTHING was delicious and the spicy foods were just how I like it.

An error completely on my end was made. Thep was efficient and friendly to address it. Wonderful customer service. Thank you!
lunch
Once you step into this place from the street you can actually disconnect from the world. Its quiet w laid back music Great service The dishes are fresh and full of flavor The shrimp dumplings were great
