I was craving ramen and wanted something near me in Hell's Kitchen. It was a bit of a walk but I was happy I took a chance on this little hole in the wall with great noodles and friendly staff. Get the Sutamina Ramen!

I love this place. I come every time I'm in NYC. The lava man is out if this world. The broth is great but it's the noodle that really sets this place apart from the rest.

Great Raman/ Great staff in Clinton/ Hells Kitchen Always a great experience Garlic Fried noodles a favorite along with Dark Men noodles

We were staying only 150 yards away and didn’t find it until the day we were going home, had lunch here with two teenagers who also loved the food, highly recommend.

I ordered the spicy ramen and it lived up to its name, very spicy indeed! But apart from the spice factor, there's nothing to write home about.. it a decent bowl of ramen with decent broth. Good enough just to warm my empty tummy and satisfy my ramen cravings :)

We ate at this place on a cold winter night -- it was great service and very reasonably priced. The noodle soups were fantastic and so were the appetizers. They have a good variety on the menu.

Very small, but perfect dumplings. They have a big Ramen menu, but we went for the rice dishes, which were also very tasty. Good value for money and not fare from Times Square either. Lot of asians eat here, so I guess they would know where to get the best noodles! Kitchen closes at 10.45 PM sharp.

Few places have transported me back to Japan like this one (even though none of the staff seem to be Japanese!) Very good ramen, very good price. No fuss type of place

This place had so many ramen choices and the flavors were delicious. We managed to hit it at a slow time of day but I can imagine that it gets packed. We had several appetizers which were all good and the ramen was fantastic. Really recommend.

I was in town for a workshop and got some ramen Togo. The broth was ok and the noodles were a solid mass of dough. It wasn't a very satisfying meal.

Found this shop after going to MUJI's and stopped in for quick bite. The fried tofu was nicely done. The ramen was abover average. The ton katsu was dry.

Stayed at a hotel right around the corner, and we became fans of a restaurant right across the street. After finishing a very light dinner on our final night in NYC, we saw Tabata, which we had overlooked previously, and were disappointed. We love noodles. So... we decided to go anyway. The restaurant was pretty busy for late at night, but we were seated quickly. I toyed with the idea of getting the tofu and mushroom ramen, but wasn't sure if the tofu was a firm bean curd (which I love), or silken (characteristic of a lot Japanese cooking, and I don't love), so decided to go with the veggie ramen. I wasn't disappointed. My wife was in a particular mood, and had a hard time ordering just broth, noodles, and cilantro, but ultimately got it ordered. Food arrived promptly, and was very good. Mine was loaded with fresh veggies in a superb broth, my wife's was as she ordered it. There were a lot of other options that I would certainly want to work my way through. Biggest problem was with the bill - my wife had to find a particular menu item that was chicken broth and cilantro, then ask for everything but the cilantro to be removed. We were billed for the item with an additional $1 for...cilantro, a component of the dish anyway. Oh well, for me it wasn't a deal breaker and would definitely go back.

I've been here a couple of times now and its been packed each time. It's a small place and not fancy dining so exhibit some patience. The pitcher/hot wings special for $18 is excellent and a good appetizer for the main event, the ramen noodle soups. At $10 they are enormous and will fill you up for most of the rest of the day. Its hard to figure out which one to pick!

A small place that makes great food! I dont like ramen so I was surprised I liked it. I had squid leg and the eel with rice. Both wonderful. If in a group get a pitcher of beer and a bottle of sake. An economical way to get hammered! Go here in a small group or alone and enjoy this hole in the wall.

absolutely love this place. has to be my favorite of them all. although they are no ippudo i do think that the service is better and that the broth is a tad bit better. if only they made their own noodles, they would be top ramen in nyc. i try to go every month or so. they are awesome and the staff is super friendly.

If you like ramen, you need to try this restaurant. Be careful with the lava ramen because it is extremely spicy.

My sister and I were in NYC for her birthday in September. The bartender at the Yotel suggested taking a walk up 9th Ave, as there were several great options for eating (we had already tried the hotel restaurant and were looking for something different that night). We were greeted immediately and we chose to sit up at the "bar" to watch the chef's at work. What a great experience! Our server was very attentive, he made wonderful meal suggestions and explanations, as we were not very familiar with the menu. The food was fantastic!!! The dumplings were cooked perfectly and our noodle dishes (mine was a garlic dish I believe) were to die for!! Best part of all was that the food was so reasonably priced! Wewere so happy, we ended up tipping the server and the chef's as well.

cozy little restaurant that serves amazing noodle dishes-we all enjoyed fantastic food and everyone had leftovers

The reviews looked good, and it was very close to the hotel. That, and the fact that the soup was hot and the day was chilly. Those are the positives. Small spot on busy 9th ave. maybe 10 spots at the counter and around 10 tables. Almost empty at 5pm on a Sat night. Not a good sign, considering Totto Ramen was full at 430 on a Thu night. Thought about returning there, but didn't feel like the long walk......... Not that Tabata was bad.........just not in the same category. Broth not nearly as rich and complex. Pork, not the same cut and not as good. Too much frivolity in the kitchen and with the wait staff. A good variety of different types of broth. I had the shoyu.....not great. Oh well........

This is a small place with counter seating at the front and table seating at the back. Staff were warm and welcoming, taking pride in their food. I ordered a cold noodle dish that was terrific with a bit of a kick. My husband had his ramen with a side of curry rice. Both were perfect. We had a nice chat with our server - very nice young lady. We highly recommend this place. It doesn't look fancy but it is well worth a visit.

I was having withdrawal and stopped here on my way back to CT after the weekend. I love this place - I mean, where else in NYC (midtown much less) can you get a HUGE meal (that tastes AMAZING) for $11.00?!? I brought some dishes home for my family and they also loved everything (traveled pretty well). Highly recommend this place - fast and good service, super reasonable prices, always consistent - love!

On each and every visit to Tabata Noodle, with multiple different menu selections, the food was delicious, fragrant, and well worth the money. Great staff, willing and helpful, the bar seating is fascinating because you can watch the three or four cooks at work as you wait. The owner is in most nights, he watches and makes sure it all runs smoothly. And to our delight on several evenings he sent over a little something for us to try "on the house". The spicy food is very, very spicy - the others not so at all. Everything we tried was delicious. We plan to return here on every trip to New York, especially if we're staying at a nearby hotel!

The place is very small and crowded but the noodle was good. It’s not like the instant noodle ramen that you eat from the package.

The Ramen here was amazingly. The ambiance and the crazy hot little kitchen. Ya bats understands the art of Ramen and you would never know it with the speed of movement these chefs have. The noodles were near perfect and the broth was so lovely. The balance was astounding. The veggies were perfectly balanced and this symphony continues in your mouth. Bottom Line is we went back...only so many meals to have while in NYC and we had two at Tabata.

Seafood ramen and edamame appetizer, food was great. Serving staff was great. Atmosphere needs updating. Bring cash no credit cards accepted.

Broth too salty. Not original japanese ramen. This is a Chinese doll noodles. Overpriced posing as Japanese ramen noodles.

My partner and I stayed on ninth 37th and we loved going to dinner at Tabata. Small place, delicious food, friendly & efficient staff. (Very clean restroom - which I only think says a lot) we stayed in NYC and came here couple times, maybe because it was delicious, quick and easy for us. Yum yum :)

We were staying at a hotel nearby and decided to go for a Noodle dinner. We were instantly welcomed by a lovely member of the team and made to feel welcome straight away. We ordered the pork dumplings to start which are a must have. I had the pork ramen and my boyfriend had the chicken ramen. Both of us found the ramen broth really tasty and super filling. The portion size was huge so you should be hungry going here,( however I didn't finish mine and was offered a takeaway container which was great) This little shop is easily missed from the outside but definately worth stopping by. Seemed to be really popular with the locals too which is a good sign. In summary, reasonably prices, great service, lovely food and huge portions!

We stopped here late one night and had several different things and all shared them. Ramen noodles, pork fried rice, chicken wings and dumplings- all of it was great. Service is good, seating space is limited but it was fun and worth the stop!

Small restaurant selling hot and tasty ramen. When you need a break from pizza and hotdog, this is the place to go, and the service is good too.

We're not as familiar with Midtown (we usually stay down on the Lower East Side when in NYC), but we were here for work and asked at our hotel for a recommendation for a nearby resto. They suggested Tabata and we're glad they did. It would be easy to walk right past the narrow, nondescript frontage so we may very well have missed them. We had Kara-age as an "appy" - and the serving was huge! Not the very best we've had, but very good. We had the Lava Men ramen (a spicy tonkatsu) and it was delicious. Rich tonkatsu broth, just the right level of spicy, and an absolutely perfectly soft/hard boiled egg - loved the creaminess of the rich yoke! Will definitely return if ever we find ourselves in the area again.

I've been craving good noodles for a while and popped in here yesterday when I was in the city for the day. OMG - so glad I did! The Tabata ramen is AWESOME - creamy flavorful broth and yummy ramen. Prices also very reasonable considering the portion size and where you are. I also got the age dashi tofu, which was wonderful (and also a huge portion - if I'd know how much food it was I probably would have skipped the tofu). I liked it so much that I stopped by again on my way back to the train to get some take out to enjoy at home! I will most definitely be back!

Gyoza was yummy!!! and waiter staff was funny!! they make you feel like home. Forget don't travel into China town, Tabata has excellent ramen.

I ordered the katsu chicken curry to take out. The sauce came in a separate container so I could control how much sauce - loved this option. Would eat here again.

We found this gem by googling ramen places close to Times Square. Looks like hole in a wall, but the food was amazing! It was our last meal in NYC and I would go back there every day. The flavors of every dish were perfect and authentic ramen and dumplings, prices were dirt cheap, food came out quick and hot and fresh. Definitely must visit for a true ramen experience or take out. I am almost afraid to write this because it should be kept a secret, place is so good.

I'm a self-confessed ramen noodle junkie and grab lunch at Tabata as much as I can. It's always busy during lunch time ( a great sign) and the service is very fast. The ramen is always cooked to perfection with large portions for around $10.

We were in a rush to get to a Broadway show and our meals arrive in less than fifteen minutes and they were uniformly delicious.

I'm not a huge ramen fan, but this place made me a true believer. It was a cold night and I wasn't feeling well. This place came highly recommended so I gave it a try. I started my meal with some delicious spring rolls that were cooked perfectly and not the least bit greasy. However, the Tan Tan Men is what won me over. It wasn't too spicy and had excellent flavors throughout. The portion was huge for the price. Service was very good and staff was friendly. I actually felt better after eating this soup. I'll definitely be back!!!

Had a great authentic Japanese curry here. The design is cool as well and looks like a place I have been to in Kyoto. Reasonably priced as well and they have Sapporo beer.

The Gyoza (seared pork dumplings) are home made and amazing as an appetizer! Pictured here is the chicken ramen, with a hint of coconut....YUM! Best in Hell’s Kitchen.

The Miso Ramen was really good and the price is reasonable. Service was very quick but they missed one of the things we ordered. Since we were not charged for it anyway, I did not even mention it.

We stumbled on this restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The service was great, friendly and the food was all excellent but especially the chicken wings we loved :)

My son and I ate at Tabata during a recent trip to NYC. We liked it so much that we ate there twice during our week-long stay.

This Ramen noodle shop has gotten some dcenet reviews, and they are deserved. A bit out of the way near Port Authority, it is one of the only Ramen shops in that area, so stop in for a decent Ramen noodle.

Having lived and worked across Asia, It is tough to get real, authentic tasting ramen in NYC. This gem is serving up some delicious bowls of the salty, spicy broth. I stop here on a cold walk home from work on nights when I'm going to be home alone. Perfect to eat alone and delicious. Mind the spice if you're not used to it!

Fried oysters - good batter, pretty good Blackmen ramen - broth w/ black sesame. It was quite rich and tasty. Good for a cold winter day. Noodles cooked well; nice bouncy texture.

Upon arrival for lunch, I was seated at the bar over looking the kitchen right away. I've had a really long day on my feet and this place offered a relaxing center from the busy NYC streets. All the staff greeted each customer as you come in. The décor is your typical Japanese mom-pop joint. This place reminds me of Japan, your neighborhood friendly noodle joint with friendly staff and local customers grabbing a quick bite before heading off to work or home. I had the seafood ramen noodle. It was amazing! A bit of advise for the newbies, the ramen broth here is temperature steaming HOT. I thoroughly enjoyed myself here. Highly recommended for a unique experience.

I had ramen here with a friend. We went because it's new and it somehow got a favorable review in the NYT. I don't think the NYT reviews every new noodle shop that opens in NY. Anyway, it was great. I had a spicy ramen and my friend had the house signature coconut broth ramen. I learned that the owner and chef trained for 9 years as a ramen chef in Japan before opening up his own shop in NY. He personally makes all of the broth himself to ensure quality and you can really taste it. It's hard to think that for less than $15 you could get anything more satisfying on a cold night for than a great ramen and a cold beer.

Ducked into this little place to escape the cold and was surprised by how delicious the broth was and the service was warm and friendly. Since this was right around the corner from my hotel, I found myself here 2 more times over a long weekend. nomnom

We stopped in to have lunch on a Sunday because the photos in the window of the noodle house looked good. And the food was really really good. The service was not so good. There was 3 people in our party, we were promptly seated and order drinks. And were forgotten after that. I ordered sweet tea which turned out to be a can on Lipton tea so I decided not to open the can and switched to hot tea. At this point, 3 different servers had spoken to us and one gave me attitude for not wanting the drink and wanting to switch, and I never got my tea. We each ordered something different and all enjoyed our meals. I added kimchi to my soup because it adds spicy cabbage, daikon and a nice kick to the meal. Originally my order was incorrect and one of the servers looked on as the nicer server apologzed and fixed the order. The one watching.just rolled her eyes in irritation. Best to say one server was awesome, we complimented her and I pray they don't split tips. One was hyper and ran around doing almost nothing but freaking out and the last one was noted or irritated. So to sum up, food was great, service was not so great.

Going out to eat with small children in Manhattan can be intimidating, and this place was a total HOME RUN! My son is obsessed with Kung Fu Panda, and wanted to eat noodles for dinner. We found this place and walked in a little hesitant since there were no other families with children in there. The hostess immediately made of our kids, led us to a table near the back, where we didn't worry so much about disrupting other people's meals, and we had a BALL. They had kids cups, spoons and forks and even helped our three-year-old try out the chopsticks. It was a great meal and we would go back again in a heartbeat.

This is a great place. It brings me back to Asia in a heartbeat or a spoonful. Bar counter service with full visibility of the kitchen. 4-5 guys working hard to serve up some great ramen. This is a place I will go back to.

Tucked away.. If you walk quickly you might miss it Had the spicy miso noodles very tasty . God value a large bowl of noodles for $8.75. They make their own broth and even have a veggie option A small place but great service. Perfect when you need a snack if noodles

Friends that also pass through Port Authority like me took me here - and i am so glad they did! Really top notch ramen. They have mild - but if you want super spicy just ask. The wasabi shumai were extraordinarily fresh and powerful! The service was friendly and fun and superb. You are not rushed at all, but you can get in and out fast if you want to.

You don't come here for ambiance, because it is not a fancy place. However, the food is good, depending on what you order. The rice dishes are good and portions are a good-size as well. The ramen noodles and broth are good, but depends on what toppings you get. We ordered the pork (char siu) and the flavor was not exactly there. Would go back to order other things though. Bathrooms are clean. Location is right by Port Authority Bus Terminal.

Reasonable priced lunch restaurant. The ramen soups are brig and can be shared as well as the lunch menus with a lot of rice. One thing that should be attended to is all the flies on the walls. That is not nice at all. Will not come back.

Finally, a ramen location easily accessible to my area of midtown. Service was very brisk. The lunch time crowd came in waves, one moment there will be seats, the next moment it's filled. From ordering to paying, including eating time, our lunch took only 30 minutes. The gyoza was cooked to order and smaller than I expected but they were good. The skin's so thin, all the focus is on the filling. My friend got the garlic noodles, came with a soup. I was pleasantly surprised with the whole egg in my kyushuu ramen as I thought it would only be half. I'd hoped there to be more ramen in my bowl but with the gyoza, I was full. All noodles come with a small house salad. I would definitely be back to eat my way through the menu.

We started with the fried ray fin which was a bit chewy but golden brown with a tangy spicy sauce. The Lava Ramen and Tabata Ramen are not the usual ramen you'd find in Japan but rather a spin put on by the Burmese cooks. The Stamina ramen is more akin to the ramen you'd find at Shinagawa Station.

On our first night in New York we wanted something fresh and quick. This ticked all boxes! We were greeted straight away and given a table. The menu is limited but I feel that this is always a better option. We had the curry ramen. I’m not a curry person but I loved this! Fresh full of flavour and inexpensive which is a bonus. Highly recommend!

Best ramen I have ever had. Delicious, can still taste the slow cooked meat and the ramen sauce. Staff very kind and friendly.highly recommend 👌

After reading reviews here I stopped in for dinner. I ordered Sutamina Ramen. It was rather spicy but what surprised me was the bacon. I was expecting thinly-sliced tender pork loin. Instead, there were strips if boiled bacon in the soup. As you can imagine it was inedible - chewy and bland. I also had a Sapporo on-tap which was bitter - this is not the way this beer tastes elsewhere. Thus, I will not be returning here.

had the saumurai (pork) and the (chicken) tabata ramen. neither impressed to warrant a return. and at $15usd/bowl its not cheap eats.

Solid ramen choice with izakaya style appetizers. Fast, tasty and friendly. Can get busy but wait never gets too long. Good choice for a quick bite after a convention at the Javits.

A small pure Japanese diamond in the heart of Manhattan. Fabulous ramen. Open kitchen with the possibility of sitting directly on the counter where they cook or at the few tables. Very kind staff. Free water. Adequate quality/price. Really clean, the bathroom too. From the outside it may seem like an anonymous place but enter and you will discover a corner that is worth it.

Tasty Japanese noodles in this tiny shop next to Port Authority. Lots of great ramen, rice, and soup options. Reasonable prices, as well.

We are on the BEST RAMEN in NYC quest. This is our fourth ramen restaurant. It is tied for 2nd with Ippudo in the East Village. Our favorite so far is Totto. Location: It is behind the Port Authority on 9th, tucked between small street level shops typical of the Times Square. Vibe: It has a lunch counter vibe. Basic seating and vinyl booth benches. Service: Very efficient, no nonsense and FAST. Food: Large servings of ramen. Tried 4 types. Each was very good. Satisfying. The seafood ramen was the best of the 4 ramens. All of the broths were good. Value: Cost came to $53 for 4. Fantastic. Ever since our vacation to Japan, we've been devoted to finding good freshly stretched ramen in luxurious, flavorful broth. This is not your "cup-o-noodle" ramen. Gourmet ramen is so worthy of the search! We'll be back to Tabata. In the middle of NYC, it's easy to want to try it again. We'll also be going to Sapporo Ramen, next.

You can see your order prepared if you sit at the counter. Hot food and fast by friendly waiters. Lots of choices too. Only open for dinner.

I stumbled upon Tabata Noodle on a Foursquare list and it was a very nice experience, so much so that I went out of my way to catch the subway 50 blocks to go there a week later! There is ample seating for solo diners around the kitchen, allowing you to watch all the food being cooked - who needs to pay extra for the chef's table when it's included for free? Service is friendly and attentive with a constant refill of water when you're half way to empty, which is very welcome in this New York heat. I'd recommend the chicken wings to start and Shoyu Ramen for those who don't have a big appetite or any of the rice dishes (I had a pork and tofu dish - Mabo Don) for those who want a lot of food. Each time I visited I spent around $18 - $20 for two courses, service and drink!

It's a small restaurant, but the flavors were incredible. Everything tasted wonderful. The attention was great. A very good option.

All of the ramen noodles are great and filling. Awesome price and close to a lot of bars on 9th ave.

As others have said, from the outside you might walk past, however we decided to give it a try. Greeted as we walked in and placed at the bar style seats overlooking the cooking area. Was really interesting to watch the chefs at work! We ordered a variety of dishes, some dumplings and it was all really good. Having not eaten much Japanese food before I couldn't comment as to how authentic it was but we felt it was good, good portion sizes and attentive service. Don't be put off by the décor etc it's a lovely little place and the number of Asian people eating in there made me think it is pretty authentic!

Delicious Ramen! My husband and I walked from Times Square for dinner tonight. Service was excellent, and super quick. I had the Tabata Ramen, and he had the Katsu Don Ramen. We both loved our dishes. Trust me, you'll love it too!

Have to have filed complaint to health department. Me and my husband had dinner on business trip. Our trip turned into a nightmare. We contacted with restaurant, respond was indifferent "Nobody complained they become sick , it just two of you "

Couldn't decide what to have for dinner so walked around 9th Avenue for a while. Wandered in off the street after liking the look of this place. The shop Had an authentic look from the street. Sat at the counter while the cooks made my adgedashi tofu. Also had the tonkatsu ramen. Very good. In total about $16. Very attentive service, not too many customers that night.

Yesterday is the uncountable time... don’t remember how many time time we dine there > < We are a group of 5, sometimes are 7 peoples go together to eat there. The reason why we go there many times and many people together... it’s a simple answer; their noodles and food is good and price is very reasonable: P

Tabata uses packaged ramen noodle. Unfortunately, I could see them unwrapping noodle packages from the counter while I was having my ramen. The broth was on salty for my taste buds. The service was quick and courteous.

PROS Quality of food was good (excellent spicy level) Deliver was perfect and on time: great service and great packaging (large quantity and good conservation) CONS Nothing to highlight Recommended place for ramen and noodle in MidTown

From the people, service and atmosphere, it looks and feels like a great noodle shop in Tokyo. Go, you will love the environment and better yet, you would love the food.

We had an excellent meal here after a fun day at NY Comic Con. The ramen was terrific and service was fast.

This place was near the hotel we stayed at and was recommended by some friends. Had tonkatsu ramen but it was just okay, not the best but not bad at all. Good value for its price.

They are one of the restaurants me and my colleagues must go every time when stay in Manhattan. Standard Japanese noodles and snacks in moderate price. Will go again in next trip : )

Inexpensive bowl of delicious ramen brought to you quickly by friendly servers. Tabata was a great find as we stolled through Hell's Kitchen looking for lunch before a show. The Tabata Ramen was perfect for a heat coward like me with a lovely coconut milk based broth. They cane spice it up if you prefer. The wife went for spicy Tonkatsu and judging by her face it was plenty spicy. Everyone raves about Totto but I can't be bothered to wait in line for ramen.

It has the best ramen soups and a great and fast service. There are great appetizers and the waitresses are very kind and they give good recommendations.

Service - pretty good atmosphere - good. very solo friendly Lava Mein - Spicy ramen - good but nothing like O la la Karage Ponzu - not well marinated fried chicken

Stopped there for lunch with family based on ta recommendation. I would say the ramen which is the specialty are really so so, not super flavoursome and with meat a bit greasy, ie not best cuts. On plus side relatively cheap and unpretentious. So basically you pay for what you get

Found this place almost by accident - and was very pleased with this. service was fast and friendly and the gyozu dumplings and the fried octopus and teh seafood salads were yummy (micro portions of octopus though) ! The oplace is a bit small but from your stool you can see the chefs hard at work. Free Wifi was also great but the main event =- the Ramen in the end made it special - the right mic of spicy and sweet !

I have tried authentic ramen in Japan and different cities in the world. This place is not close to it. The salad was not good and the ramen was average at best. After I finished, I was thirsty for hours. I don't want to accuse them for MSG but something from there made me really thirsty.

My husband and I eat here every November when we come to NYC for Thanksgiving. The soup is delicious. It’s a small place but we can always get a table. I love the variety and the service is great as well.

I love authentic ramen shops in NYC! This one in particular was really really great! I started with a house salad and the greens were fresh and homemade ginger dressing was the best I've had. Ramen was great, pork had a bit of fat, but that didn't take away from how great it was. Servers were nice, price was right, will be returning on my next trip. The best thing was, it was away from the insanity of Times Square and you have to look for it to find, nice local spot away from tourists.

Excellent ramen. Delicious flavours and lovely and hot to escape the cold winter day. Very kind and attentive staff. Highly recommend. We had the tonkotsu and the spicy ramen.

Stopped in here twice while in NYC. Good menu, friendly staff, quick service and a great location near MSG. Highly recommend

Another one of those family run hidden gems New York is famous for. Located on 9th ave near the port authority it’s the perfect place to recharge after a long journey. We ordered the curry ramen and the spicy vegetable ramen. Both were wonderful and homely.

Came here second time to have a bowl of noodle. This place does not disappoint. I ordered the Lava Ramen, which is known to be very hot and spicy. I am used to eating spicy food and therefore, the heat does not bother me at all. However, for people who prefer their food to be mildly seasoned, this might not be the dish for you. My personal assessment is that the sodium content of this dish might be high. I love salt and so this does not bother me either. One improvement that I think they definitely need to consider is sanitation. I sat at the bar this time and they cook the food right in front of you, which is really great. However, I see that one cook was seating endlessly and I constantly fear that he is going to wipe his sweat and get his sweat on to the food.

I came to New York by the travel from Japan. The flag written to be ramen noodles in Japanese by chance was seen, and it went into this store. Inside of a shop is structure like the Ramen shop in Japan, and falls into an illusion which is in Japan instantly. I ordered TABATA Ramen noodles. However, since not unfamiliar foods were visible to the photograph of the wall, when it checked with the salesclerk, it was announced that it was a leaf of coriander. Although the leaf of coriander is not used for ramen noodles, I decided to try. Comment are as follows. Noodles and the soup can be reproducing Japanese ramen noodles well. And it is delicious enough. Although the combination with the leaf of coriander was the first, there is unpredictability and this is also good touch. The draft beer of SAPPORO is also nice.

Unassuming from the outside, the food is amazing. We had shumai, chicken katsu curry and spicy ramen. Amazing flavours. Nice staff too. A good value gem in an expensive city! Check it out!

We were looking for a curry place, which we found but didn't like the menu. So we came into Tabata. Absolutely loved it. Great service, amazing food. $$ price level 2 here. Dinner for 2, and appitaizer and 2 draft beers was $43.50. But we were pleased with what we got. Would eat there again.

Excellent ramen spot near Port Authority. On par with some of the more famous (and more expensive) options in the area such as Ippudo and Totto Ramen. Great overall variety as there are over 10 types of ramen to choose from in addition to other types of Japanese cuisine.

For ramen, soup is the most important part to me.. and Tabata ramen didn't quite deliver there. Roast pork melted in my mouth, and the eggs were soft and tasty. The soup though was quite bland, and noodle sticking together and didn't carry much soup on it. More to be desired for service too -- waitress didn't get my order right, and I was moved to a different seat in the middle of eating. I would go somewhere else when I want ramen next time.

Ramen was excellent. Liked that they said they could make it without MSG (I hope they really did but who knows). Appetizers also good. Service very quick but lots of room for improvement. Every time we asked for additional napkins we were given a single napkin. When we asked for "more than one", we were just given one more. Moral of the story? Good food but bring your own napkin. 😄

We have been here every day since visiting New York. The food is plentiful, cheap and flavoursome, and the Sapporo Beer is cold and on tap. e service is very friendly and prompt. This place is highly recommended for anyone who likes Ramen Noodles/Asian Food and wants a reasonably priced meal in Hell's Kitchen.

noodles were very good, the service was fast and good. The portions are big and absolutely affordable prices. I tried noodles with pork and garlic noodles, both were very good. Take away service was efficient! Hot broth was nice after a winter day visiting NYC!

We happened to walk by today, and stopped in for a snack and to get out of the cold. We had Gozyoza, Katsu and some hot sake. Each was extremely good and at reasonable price. The service was excellent. Definitely a place on our list to return to.

We stopped in for a quick lunch. The food was ok, not more. The place was quite small but thats to expect from such a place.

Nice Restaurant Stepping into Tabata Japanese Restaurant Ramen and Yakitori Bar felt like a mini-getaway to Japan! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm, inviting, and truly felt authentic, with beautiful traditional decor,

The ramen was just how I like it, flavourful broth and soft noodles. The chicken wasn't fully authentic, but it was a nice twist on ramen. Great for any ramen newbies. It was fun to sit at the bar to watch the chefs cooking right in front of us.

The restaurant is small, there might be a wait, but it is well worth it. The ramen is delicious and the service is quick, prices reasonable, and the staff friendly. I had ramen with pork and it was filling and the perfect meal to have before boarding the train to head back home. I sat at the counter and ended up having a great conversation with a couple of fellow diners as we were all there by ourselves. Close to several hotels, close to Times Square and the Javits Center. Definitely recommend.

I've been there a multiple times and every time the food is so excellent!!!!!! I've tried a few of the dishes and all of them were amazing. My favorite is the Tabata Ramen, it is nice, spicy but also sweet! I would eat there all the time if I could!! I definitely recommend this restaurant!!!!

Several different traditional ramen bowls, plus a few other types of dishes. Fresh, delicious and good service. An easy walk from the theaters.

If you enjoy ramen then this is the place for you. Delectable noodles in amazing broths, the hardboiled eggs are one of the things that sets this place apart. The service is friendly and efficient. The prices cannot be beat. My favorite is Geki Kara Ramen, if you like very spicy this is amazing. My wife loves Sutamina Ramen which has a nice flavor. Overall great find certainly worth checking out.

After Litte Italy... Chinatownon.... We are on 9th Avenue near Time Square, a storefront that doesn't look like much, shabby, without garish colors, but it's a delight for the taste buds, the noodles are served in large generous bowls, with flavors and tastes rarely found. One bowl is enough for the whole meal, the service is fast, the prices like in NY are expensive, but we know that. In NY everything is expensive with taxes and service. In any case, don't miss this address.

The service here is quick and the ramen is plentiful. The servers were very nice, but it literally says on the menu that no changes or substitutions can be made. Wouldn't seek it out, but wouldn't necessarily avoid it, either.

What a great little place! Went here for lunch on a rainy, windy and raw day. A perfect ramen day! We started with a seaweed salad which was just ok -- it didn't have the typical sesame based dressing and included lettuce and tomato which I found unusual for a seaweed salad. The real feature here though is the ramen and it satisfied immensely. We tried the spicy sutamina ramen and the tan tan men. Both were wonderfully presented, and both were made to perfection. Steaming hot, generous portions of delicious ramen and friendly service is what to expect.

Stopped in for a quick bite. Greeted and seated right away. My colleague ordered a plate of fried rice. I had already eaten and stated I wasn't ordering but was told I had to order something. So I got the shrimp dumplings. Both dishes were good as was the service. Would return if in the area.

The first time I went here I was disappointed when I got the traditionally Miso Ramen. The 2nd time I went I had the Tan Tan Ramen and it was fantastic. I go regularly now for the Tan Tan and the pork dumplings.

Our table ordered Lava Men and Tabata Ramen. The serving was large and came in huge bowls. The Lava Men lived up to its name and was spicy, It came with only 2 slices of char siu (not very good at that), a measly amount of bean sprouts, a few strands of pea sprouts, and topped with a snack sized nori. Compared to the Lava Men, the Tabata Ramen was very different. Its stock was thick, creamy and sweet. Having lived in Asian countries, this type of broth is not what I expected. In addition, it came with tons of overwhelming sliced red onions. Though I am not crazy about both types of broth, the ramen in both orders were fairly decent with a chewy texture. Despite the unexceptional experience, the turning point was when the waitress brought the check and point blank reminded my husband to tip her 20% or more. I have never felt so infuriated before. We always tip 30% or more. Due to her boldness, I left a 10% tip and reminded her that a tip symbolizes appreciation of good service and is NOT an expectation. To all and sundry that are thinking of visiting this restaurant, give it a miss. If you are craving homemade ramen, there are other establishments around in the area with tastier options and better service.

Found this spot from the eater NYC list of top ramen spots and it was such a fantastic hidden gem. I was disappointed to hear they no longer have the dark men ramen, which was recommended for being so unique but we got a couple of other ramen bowls and they were amazing. Most bowls were $12. Definitely worth the visit!
Delicious Japanese noodles. Fresh and fast.
I ate here three times in a week. It's really busy during the lunch hour, so grab a seat at the bar if you can. Delicious appetizers, steaming-hot bowls of noodles, beer, wine and sake make for a spectacular meal that won't break your budget.
