Amazing thin crust pizzas

By Grant G |

We visited here in the evening after arriving to NYC from the UK. We were seated quickly. The tables are a little bit close together and very busy place. Our order was taken and the food arrived in good time. The Tres Fuegos pizza was a good choice. The crusts were amazingly thin. Perhaps the thinnest I have ever had. All very fresh. Not the cheapest but worth it.

Delicious thin crust pepperoni pizza

By ristosan |

Very nice thin-crusted pizza for lunch, and especially the pepperoni one was really delicious. Two slices were just enough for eack person.

Good lunchtime find

By Annette W |

Stumbled across this place whilst looking for a lunchtime place to eat whilst out shopping, The smell from the street as we passed drew us in. We had pies and a chicken sandwich. Both came quickly and the portion sizes were just right for lunch and the thin crust was great. The rose wine went down well also! The only negative is that the staff weren't very welcoming or engaging. Shame.

Good pizza and good wine

By ATLFoodie71 |

Great spot for a light meal after a day at the baseball game. We enjoyed the thin crust pizza, it went well with the wine. Service was great. Not very busy on a Sunday night, but the couples that were there all seemed to be enjoying the ambiance.

Good Atmosphere Good Food

By gaeilge10 |

We were here twice. Always busy. There is no WiFi available so the restaurant is noisy- people are actually talking to one another. The service staff are very professional & friendly. Food was delivered quick enough after ordering. Pizza base is super thin. I got a pepperoni & spicy sausage pizza which was yum. My wine was served in a very unique glass.

Excellent very thin crust pizza

By Jeremy W |

Noisy restaurant with a few outside tables - if you don't mind New York car pollution and dirt. Pizza was very good, we made our own ingredients list. $38 but plenty for two hungry people. Mixed service.

Wonderful pizza

By gorlinjay |

A great pizza. Done perfectly with thin crust. Meat Lover's large served three people comfortably. Quinoa and avocado salad with a hint of goat cheese was terrific. Good wine and beer selection with friendly service. Children friendly!

One of the best thin crust pizza in NY! Awesome, delicious, addictive and light. Salads are great, too. Love their wine glasses.. won't reveal much- u gotta see it:)

Loved it!!

Tappo's thin crust pizza was down the street from our hotel. It's a wonderful and tasty pizza restaurant! We had the meatball and spicy chicken. Both were great!! We would highly recommend this place!! Perfect dinner before a Broadway show!!

Situated next door to Hotel Henri this little restaurant serves lovely home made Italian food. Our party had 2 lasagnas, 2 spaghetti meatballs and a personal size pie. All the main courses we excellent and this led us on to desserts. Cheesecake was awesome! It’s busy, but the service was good. $156 for our bill for 5 of us with a couple of beers, soft drinks and 2 courses. My only issue was that they didn’t accommodate smaller portions for my 9 year old Daughter so some of her meal was wasted.

Fantastic Gourmet Neighborhood Pizzeria!

By Constant Adventurer |

I moved into the neighborhood a few months ago, and absolutely fell in love with this little pizzeria around the corner from me. They have delicious salads, gourmet thin crust pizza (You can't go wrong with any of the pizzas on the menu), and a full bar. The service is fantastic and fast. AND they deliver! :)

Good value thin crust pizze

By RX61 |

I’d visited Vezzo before and was delighted to find there are 3 or 4 others in the same group. If you like thin crust pizza as much as I do you will love this place. If you don’t like the range of standard pizze you can make your own. Surprisingly they don’t offer a pepperoni pizza, but you can do it yourself, as I did, choosing toppings of pepperoni, anchovies and roasted red pepper. On reflection black olives might have been better than the anchovies. But you can choose your toppings and with a thin base you won’t be eating 70% dough and cheese. The 9” pizza was OK for me, after an appetiser, 16” being a good size for two people sharing. If you arrive before 6.30pm you can get 2 glasses of house wine for the price of one!

Great pizza and great prices in NYC

By Erin H |

My husband and I just ate here on Sunday night. They have great thin crust pizza with and endless array of toppings for an affordable price. We had a 16" 1/2 Tres Fuegos & 1/2 Meat Lovers. It was delicious. The tres fuegos pizza was unique yet tasty.

Thin pizza shop lives up to its name.

By Bradley L |

The thin crust pizza is like paper and has minimal tomato sauce. This is not what one would expect in a regular pizza restaurant.

The best thin crust?

By TheStateOfMe |

I stopped in here for lunch after overhearing somebody saying it was the best thin pizza they'd had. The two slice lunchtime deal (I had one pepperoni and one spicy sausage) was super tasty, and just right on quantity. Was it _the_ best thin crust I've ever had? I'm not sure; but it was up there with the best.

Pre birthday dinner

By Ilene1013 |

Centrally located, delightful - thinnest crust ever! Casual yet sophisticated, great service - had a table for eight by the window. Started with a goat cheese appetizer - we ordered several individual pies and shared. Dessert was awesome - bread pudding with cinnamon and sauce a la mode with a coffee amaretto cold drink in a martini glass - and a grand time was had by all! Looking forward to another visit soon.

Fabulous as ever

By calumreilly |

Popped in having previously eaten here beor. Exceeded my expectations, the food is phenomenal and the serving staff were warm and welcoming. Can't recommend enough

Wanted to lick the plate.

By Sandra P |

I hate to sound crude about the plate, but this pizza was the best I’ve had in decades. The cheese was delicious, the sauce was amazing, the toppings were delectable, and the crust was out of this world. We usually discard the very edge, but not here..we ate every morsel and crumb. Pasta was divine and salad was delicious and plentiful. Our family will definitely return when we visit the city.

Great Pizza

By BreathlessUK |

Visited late on a Saturday evening after a recommendation from staff at the Courtyard Marriot Manhattan/Chelsea. The pizza was delicious, so well worth the visit. Will definitely return if we ever get the chance to visit NY again.

Best ever pizzas

By Brenda S |

We were on holidays when we accidently stumbled across this restaurant. No complaints about the food at all. In fact we think it's the best pizza we have ever eaten. Even if the menu refers to them as pies???? We liked this place so much we returned 3 times over a two week period. The first and second visit staff were friendly. Our third visit was disappointing. One staff member who appeared to to be the person in charge was so rude. He arrived at our table and said "what do you want?"This is no way to speak to anyone let alone the very people who help to pay your bills. Unforgettable.

Good pizza, ruined by the rude staff

By Ryan |

Probably most importantly, the pizza here was pretty good with crisp thin bases and a good amount of topping. However, the service was seriously lacking - the staff seemed impatient, at no point were we asked if we wanted extra drinks and after our mains, the server pretty much threw dessert menus on the end of the table. At first we received the wrong check for considerably less than we had eaten - when this was pointed out it was virtually snatched back and a new check dumped on the end of the table without a word. We were dining with friends and when we asked if we could pay the check on two different credit cards were were told "Next time tell me before you order". There definitely won't be a next time. Certainly the rudest and most unprofessional servers that we found in the entire city.

Best thin crust pizza

It was an unexpected and amazing discovery. Great environment and service. Pizza was out of this world.

A beautiful place and a beautiful table in the Chelsea district,

By Soizic P |

A cozy place and a good restaurant in the Chelsea district, the service is fast... the dishes are varied and a choice of beautiful, hearty but light salads!

Best Pizza in New York!

By smithjc1982 |

Ate here with the family on a recent trip. Service is friendly, fast, and food is fantastic! Do yourself a favor and eat here.

All right!

By Bérengère G |

We came home by chance with our children , welcome and service very well , very good food , and correct rating! I recommend

Disappointing...

By Susie M |

The pizza was OK; nothing spectacular. Also, I didn't like that they serve wine in a regular glass. It takes away from the ambiance if it is not served on a wine glass, anyway my opinion.

Really terrific pizza, nice atmosphere

By rip2632 |

Everyone in our party loved their thin-crust pizza selections. Superb crust, delectable sauce, high-quality toppings. But the rest of the menu was excellent, as well. The service was congenial and not intrusive, the beverages good, and the atmosphere festive without being chaotic and noisy. A good option in the competitive Chelsea area.

Tappo's daytime outdoor waitress puts small plastic condiment cup on food during coronavirus

By steve f |

Either the daytime outdoor waitress at Tappo wants to get fired to collect unemployment or she's not too smart. I ate lunch outside with my family and she served our food with those little plastic condiment containers right in the dish with our food !!!!!! To make matters worse all our food wasn't hot. Hey Tappo Manager: YOU BETTER GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER. YOU NEED THE PUBLIC ---- THE PUBLIC DOESN'T NEED YOU.

Great place for a pizza lunch

By Douglas M |

This establishment was a very busy place. However, there was excellent tasting pizza and it was in a very convenient location.

Great pizza , grumpy server

By Val P |

Pizza superb, but the service was not...the waiter (or owner?) was in a really bad mood and didn't really listen to the food requests , then when that was pointed out he claimed he didn't hear the request, but apart from that , I would def go again

Good pizza and beer for a decent price

By Dansksteve |

Stopped in here as it was around the corner from our hotel. Great happy hour and the thin crust pizza offered some innovative combinations that pleased everybody.

Friendly, excellent food

By George C |

We stayed at the hotel down the block, and ate here a couple of evenings. It is a popular place, and small groups of co-workers are common. The food is delicious. Their thin crust pizza is very good, and their Mediterranean salad was big enough for two and really tasty. Other starters and lasagne were also quite good.

Yuck

By Smel N. Goot |

Rigatoni rely not tomato based sauce..misleading. Not very appetizing. Disappointing. Garlic bread decent. Would not come back.

Mmmmm, yummy!

By RinaBina |

Quick find after a long flight from the UK and carbs were desperately needed! Good service and staff polite. Nice atmosphere and cool decor. Pizza/pie menu was varied and we wanted everything! Well priced and tasty.

Great Pizza

By Elsa G |

It was almost full when we arrived but luckily we didn't have to wait for a table. There were only 2 of us. The service was very efficient and quick but they definitely didn't rush you. The food was absolutely delicious and so fresh. We shared a salad to start and then we had our own pizzas. All the pizzas are thin crusted. Food is really good here. Worth a visit if you are in the area. Good atmosphere too.

Pizza ? Really?

By ZenHealer7 |

It is funny what ideas people have about pizza. They are willing to call anything and everything pizza. What you get here is a crust that resembles cardboard which is euphemistically called thin crust. Thin crust is an art and skill. And this place does not have it. The pie came out almost as soon as I had placed the order and they did not even have a wood fired oven so no way it could have been cooked so fast. Clearly, the crust was premade and just topped with the toppings and warmed.

Thin crust NY style pizza

By davidb6690 |

In a city where pizza options are many, Tappo Thin Crust must be among the best. Pizza was outstanding and salads were also delicious. Great service. We visited twice on our three day trip. More than worth a try.

Great Pizza

By Onthebacknine |

Have always liked their sister restaurant, Vezzo, so it was a no-brainer to try this one when we were in the area. Nice place with friendly management and service. We had the apple/cheddar salad and some mac and cheese to start, followed by four personal pizzas--all different. My personal favorite is the Salsiccia Dolce. Everyone was happy. Limited choices on wine/beer but something for everyone.

Happy Campers!

By TheRealAwaxy |

Wanted to find a good thin crust pizza for our Scottish friends who were seeing NYC for the first time. We were staying at the Hampton in the next block, so took a bit of a flyer on Tappo's. Boy, were we happy that we did! First of all, if you happen to want to eat between 4 and 5 (which we did) have they got deals for you! You can get a couple of good-sized slices for a few bucks on their lunch specials (which go until 5 pm) and their happy hour draft craft beers are BOGO! (I forget the exact happy hour times - maybe 3:30-6:30?) I had Wrench IPA from Industrial Arts Brewery in Garnerville, NY and it was great! I had two slices with mushrooms (applied generously!) The other 3 in our group chose individual pizzas with interesting topping combos. The most interesting to me was the Parma - prosciutto crisps, millionaire bacon, fresh arugula, green apples, and balsamic reduction. All the pizzas came out great - amazingly crispy and tasty. Service was very fast and very friendly. I would go there again in...a New York minute!

What a gem! Delicious!

By JHeston72 |

We went to Tappo’s on the suggestion of the hotel staff. Our hotel was less than a block from the restaurant. It was quite possibly the best thin crust pizza I’ve ever eaten. My husband had the lasagna, and it was also delicious. The service was outstanding. Never had an empty water glass and the waiter was perfectly attentive. If you’re in Chelsea, go! You won’t regret it.

Excellent thin crust pizza

By joe r |

I dont remember much, but I do remember that the thing crust was very solid. Excellent pepperoni taste and the sauce was delicious.

Best Pizza ever had

By ankeet_101 |

Friend from NYC took me to this place saying it's the best place for pizza. We ordered the vegetarian pizza very well done and it the pizza was the best I ever had. Very crispy and very tasty and the name suggests. Also we ordered Gaspachio which was really good The service was really good and fast , also offers outdoor seating. After that I went to this place thrice in 4 weeks from work and everytime the pizza was really good. Would definitely suggest to visit this place if u r a pizza lover. Addictive, thin, very light and yummy This is what u call thin crust.

Average place but good

By Benedict Family |

This place was just around the corner from our hotel. Was looking for a good slice of pizza. My wife has the caprese sandwich and the Waffle fries. Caprese was good, would get it again, the waffle fries were yummy. I order the caesar salad, was taste, but the dressing was made from anchovies (not my favourite). I also had the TRES FUEGOS pizza, wasn’t a bad selection, forgot it had avocado. Overall the restaurant was good, I’m not likely to return. 6/10

Salad and pizza

Great neighborhood restaurant.... good variety and generous portions. Friendly staff. Prices were good - especially for lunch specials and happy hour.

Light pizza

By Marie G |

Stopped here for lunch and the pizza is very thin crust and good! We got cheese and sweet Italian sausage. Didn't have much in the way for young kids but they did their best to accommodate which was really nice.

Excellent Pizza

By SRP_254 |

My daughters really enjoyed the food here. They each ordered a personal pie; a meat lovers pizza and a cheese pizza with arugula. The ambiance was warm and inviting and the service was excellent. We will definitely be back!

More than just pizza

By creb111 |

This was a fantastic spot to meet up for an uncomplicated lunch. Everything looked great. The mushroom pasta was even better. Our house salads were packed full of fresh ingredients. The warm atmosphere kept us talking and the wait staff only smiled and offered anything we would want. I can hardly wait to come back. Good value for the quality of the food.

Busy, noisy, and very good

By dallen3310 |

My wife and I stopped in for a Friday night dinner and were pleased with the fare. The mushroom linguine with truffle oil was excellent. Oh my. Tappo is a busy place and quite noisy but the quality of the food and service definitely won us over. We'll return the next time we're in Manhattan.

Yum!

By ytzpaulie |

If you love thin crust, this is the place to go! A White Russian and a thin crust Classic Meatball pizza! Perfect!

Passable Pizza, Spot-hitting Salads

By Raventwisp |

They serve wine and beer in juice glasses, so it quickly became apparent that "minimum level of effort" is the name of the game here. This is not the NYC pizza you were promised, but if you're in a hurry and looking for a flatbread style pie, Tappo will satisfy that craving. My partner enjoyed the Mediterranean salad. The general ambience was on par with any Italian American restaurant in your local mall, and food arrived promptly

Best pizza in nyc

By Brutally honest with an accent. |

Since I discover this place, hands down my favorite pizza in NYC! The thin crust is simply heaven ! If this is not the perfect thin crust pizza.... you get a pizza you get a pizza you get a pizza everyone gets a pizza on me! Lolol Please add cauliflower crust to your menu... I'm keto now and miss your pizza

Excellent dinner

By Berentski |

We stopped here based on the recommendation of the hotel, and they were right. The food (pizza, salad, and pasta) was excellent. Fast service and decent prices. Couldn't ask for anything more --- will be coming back for more.

Friday dinner

By Toyin |

We couldn't find a restaurant to eat on this cold winter night. Landed in New York in the evening, invited family to join us for dinner and had no dinner reservations. We visited couple of restaurants with no luck and finally went to Tappo where they accommodated us, what a relief. The waiter was warm and adjusted the menu to the children request. The pizza was warm and delicious. The spaghetti was also delicious. Nice restaurant

Excellent pizza restaurant.

By Jamie S |

Excellent casual pizza. Stopped by relatively late for a last minute dinner without a reservation. It was pretty busy even for 8.30pm and we weren't sure what to expect. We ordered one El Greco and one Meat Lovers. Pizza was fantastic, the only downside was that I didn't order a bigger one! The atmosphere was good, and lots of people were seated outside which is always a positive sign when you're unsure of where to eat.

Great pizza!

By Shelley H |

Stopped in for dinner on the way to theater. Excellent pizza, perfect cracker thin crust. My teen and I happily split a salad and personal pizza. Attentive service, attractive dining area. And Eataly for Gelato just a block away.

Pasta is not good

By Melanie T |

Maybe I should have just stuck the pizza. Judging by the reviews and all the people at my table who ordered pizza, everyone enjoyed it. I decided to be different and order pasta because the Pappardelle in Carbonara Sauce sounded really good. It was Pappardelle tossed in homemade carbonara sauce made with bacon and pulled chicken white meat, shiitake and portobello mushrooms, white wine and cream. In theory, it sounds good - I love pappardelle and carbonara. Sadly, it did not taste good. The chicken tasted like leftover chicken, and there was no flavor to the dish. I had to keep adding salt and red pepper flakes. At least the pasta was al dente and the garlic bread it was served with was good (albeit a bit oily). The drinks are not any better. The aperol spritz here isn't very good - pretty sure it's just aperol and seltzer, and the wine is pretty terrible. I tried a sip of the pinot noir my friend ordered and we both agreed it tasted like the three buck chuck from Trader Joe's, except it was 4x the price for a glass, and was served in a water cup. It was a pretty disappointing experience in general. Not sure if I’d want to come back to try the pizza.

Thin Thin Thin

By v1234v |

Yes, that's what it offers. Thin Thin Thin crust pizza. Can't imagine going for another option for thin crusts. Salads are great, wine selection is good, service is wonderful!

Mmmmm the best pizza

By Calum R |

I simply cannot visit New York without visiting Tappo. I love their pizza, fantastic vibe it oozes and there ridiculously strong cocktails. Always end up here on my first night to scratch my Tappo itch. Highly recommended

Lovely Evening.

By James H |

This is a nice more local rather than tourist spot. Small Pizza sizes are great when you are not starving and they were very good. Most importantly it was a friendly place from the staff to our neighboring tables it was a lovely, relaxing evening. We will return.

Surprisingly amazing!

By Esther K |

It was close to our hotel so we went in, WOW--- amazing for all in our party and really. Ice atmosphere, we loved it so much we are going back tomorow. The salads are extraordinary!

Great Greek salad!

By mikeP5190AM |

All the salads are good, but Greek salad is outstanding. Super thin pizzas are tasty too. Great for lunch or late night snack with some cocktails.

Good pizza

By Nora H |

The pizza is delicious. I got a personal pizza with a thin crust. It was so good. I ate the whole pizza. If you are looking for a good pizza spot in Matthanna, you can't go wrong at Tappo’s.

The Classic New York Pizza Place

By Ian A |

We had a family dinner here while on vacation and came back again. We all ate different things and everyone really enjoyed the pizza and the pasta. It looks like it used to be a bar and has changed to a restaurant. It gives it a lively friendly atmosphere.

Never disappoints

By michgaro |

Tappo for lunch is always enjoyable. Might need more than an hour though. The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed. It's nice to relax over lunch if you can take the time. Pizza is delish. The Mediterranean salad is filling and delicious. Packed with radichio and sweet red onions. Haven't tried the pastas but they look great. You can sit at a table, booth or bar.

Pizza is ok and the wait staff are friendly

By Arthur225NYC |

Been looking for a new pizza joint and came across this one, went in, ordered a bottle of red (reasonably priced) and the tomatoe pie. They say thin crust, but it really seems like a huge cracker they put on sauce and toppings.

one of our favorites when we visit NYC

By TravelingDanceNanny |

My husband and I first discovered Tappo's a couple of years ago on a visit to NYC. We enjoyed the food and the ambience, and we were glad to have a chance to return last weekend. We went there for a late lunch and it was surprisingly busy (though not overcrowded) in the middle of the afternoon. It feels like a local hangout, nice but not pretentious. We each had a personal pizza: my husband had Shroomtown and I had a white pizza with arugula and added bacon. Both were good, and the arugula on mine was plentiful and fresh. Although we enjoyed the pizza, we hope to try some of the other items on the menu on a future visit.

This is my second time here. Pizza is paper thin and incredibly good. Best thin crust I've had. Plenty of pies and daily/happy hour specials to choose from. Freshly made salads. Good beer selection and wines, too. Tappo will not disappoint!!

Thin pizza rocks

By Veronica W |

We ordered individual pies, one with pepperoni and the other fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil. I had a chianti and my spouse had a tap beer. The pies were great as was the beer, but skip the chianti it tasted like a cheap box wine.

Best pizza in NYC

By lissaWanderlust |

Amazing service with great lunch specials. 1 slice of pepperoni pizza and small salad for $7. Both of them were delish and perfect amount

Great find!

By Vikki M |

We visited Tappo after a brief Google search for Italian restaurants that were close to our hotel; after over 30,000 steps we couldn't face walking too far for dinner. It was an excellent find. we shared a portion of hummus to start, then had a pizza each. All the food was excellent (and the Dark & Stormy cocktail!) and it was excellent value for money. The restaurant was spotless, service was speedy and excellent and staff were friendly.

Best Thin Crust Pizza Ever!!!

By gretemadan2017 |

I love thin crust pizza and this pizza was fantastic! You can choose from a wide variety of toppings and the price is very reasonable. Most individual pizzas were between $12 and $17. We were also there during happy hour, so we got two-for-one drinks. Nice atmosphere and the staff was very nice. This goes on my list of "I have to return" places.

Delicious pizza, great lunch specials

By JenniferJoyD |

We came to the Flatiron district so I could show my parents Eataly, but the dining options there were pricier than we wanted, so I did a nearby search for other pizza options. Tappo was the closest to where we were heading, so we thought we'd walk by and check it out. The weekday lunch special options (served until 5p) made us decide to give it a try. Our server greeted us with a warm smile and treated us as friends the whole time we were there. For $7/person, we got two slices of pizza w/one topping (or one slice w/one topping and a side salad) plus a soft drink. The pizza was made to order, so the meal took a little over an hour despite a fairly empty restaurant, but it was delicious and worth the wait. And when my order didn't come out exactly right (I was given one slice w/two toppings and one plain slice), our wonderful server had them redo it and brought an additional slice without me even mentioning the error. We will definitely return!

Christmas in New York

By Sandy K |

We visited this restaurant twice as it was minutes from our hotel. Great food and great service. My son's lasagna was cold an rather than reheat it they made a fresh one. So no quibbles there.

Seriously good thin crust pizza.

By Foxey2 |

We ate here 3 times. The first time we sat outside on the street and we ate pasta dishes with the house pinot grigio white wine. The meal was economical and tasted good. But everyone else was eating thin crust pizza. We returned the next evening, after a hot day of walking New York, just to have a cool beer. We realised that it was getting near dinner time as the place was starting to fill up and while we had planned to go somewhere else, we changed our mind when we saw the customers again ordering the pizzas. So, we stayed and purchased a couple of small thin crust pizza’s. Wow! They were great. They were so good we just had to come again the next night and do the Pizza thing properly - a large one, two different toppings to share with their house red wine. This is seriously good thin crust pizza. Crisp, not doughy, with perfectly cooked toppings. No wonder there were people lining up every night to get in for a part of the action – but get there early and take advantage of their happy hour deals.

Just a simple, really enjoyable family meal

By oldskoollondon |

Nothing fancy here but a lovely warm ambience and good booths. Great for the family. The thin crust pizzas were very unusual (at least to an Englishman) but the toppings were great and they had a lovely crunch. Service was exactly as it should be. Prices were reasonable. Arancini to start were also excellent. Probably not a destination restaurant but one of the most chilled and pleasant of our NY visit.

Amazing pizza

By Anthony S |

Tappo has a special flavor to it. If you have been to a typical NYC pizzeria, it has long thick cheese, and big bread. Here in Tappo, they put pieces of mozzarella, basil and it's thin crust. Score! I highly recommend coming to Tappo, Vezzo, Posto or any other of these restaurants.

Not cheap, but worth it!

By jjvognsen |

Came for a late Night snack, after arriving to NY. Got a small pizza and Humus, for sharing. The pizza was thin and SO nice 😊 The humus creamy and also nice! So the normal question, like always....would I go there again? Yep, think we would try to hit the happy hour ;0)

So friendly and yummy salads and pizza

Nice and familiar place. Good food, we ordered pizza and pasta. The staff was attentive and service-oriented, in an American intensive way. Maybe a little loud music.

Pizza Heaven

By ZeeM845 |

Excellent thinny thin thin pizza crust. Treated myself to an inside, sit down, workday lunch and was happy I did. The crust was delicious and held up well to the tasty sauce and good quality cheese (think the best pizza you ever had in NYC 30 yrs ago...something about that combo that is hard to replicate or describe, but you recognize like an old, lost friend when your taste buds come across it). Seemingly delicate, the crust held up well to toppings (pepperoni on one, grilled chicken on the other), allowing for the requisite folding without falling apart. I think they have a special: 2 slices w a free soft drink for $6 (toppings may be extra, but splurge). Anonymous, old city charm with a spacious, clean bathroom.

My Pizza was Perfect

By 552Deb |

Looking for a late meal near my hotel and found Tappo. I like a thin crust pizza so thought I'd give it a try. My Salsiccia Dolce pizza (marinara sauce and cheese, sweet italian sausage, caramelized onions, fresh basil) was perfect and delicious. I didn't have anything else but the pizza so I cannot comment on other items on the menu but based on this experience, I'll return. Price was $26 for a 16 inch pizza.

Great Thin Crust Pizza in Chelsea!

By USMA74 |

We're spending three months in NYC enjoying what the Big Apple has to offer. This is the best pizza we've had yet. It's classic "thin crust" pizza with premium toppings - not "typical New York" pizza (which we also enjoy). It's the only pizza place we've been back to for a second time - take-out both times, though the in-dining atmosphere looks very good.

Really thin crust!

This is a quaint little place. It has a nice menu. I went for a spinach salad and it was fresh and tasty. My daughter and i shared a bacon and pineapple pizza. It was more than enough for two people. This pizza had the thinest crust ive ever seen and the sauce and the crust were both good. It wouldnt be my first choice for pizza but i would go there again

Buyer beware- when the bill arrives they try and add on 2 separate tips of 20%. Never again from me, scam artists

By Lance K |

When the bill arrived they tried to charge me twice for service charge. First compulsory charge is 20% (this is understandable and ok to some extent) the second suggested tip is is a further 20% over and on top of the original tip of 20% already paid. These guys are scammers watch your bill

Italian Food

By Ilanfreedman |

Tappo used to be on 24th Street and Sixth Avenue, and now it moved to the new location, on 21st Street between Broadway and Park Avenue. The new location has hardwood floors. The food was good, and I had spaghetti and meatballs as a main course.

Good but Not Great.....

By Metro G |

My friend and I did a search of the best pizzas in New York City. Somehow this made a list and we were excited to try it, as the location was convenient to where we were spending our evening. The salad was good and met our expectations. However, the pizza was a different story. The topping seem low grade and the marinara sauce seem like something that may have come out of the can or already premade. This is OK to eat if you're nearby and not looking for upscale options. However, by no means, is this worth going out of the way for.

Good Pizza Must Have Great Crust!

By NancyinDerby |

The secret to great pizza is the crust! Tappo Thin Crust Pizza has the perfect crust. The medium pizza was big enough for pieces to take home after we enjoyed a salad along with it. Tappo's also serves wine.

Best Pizza in New York

By Tomfulfordbrown79 |

So this is a favourite and I always stop by when I'm in New York - lunch or dinner. The pizza has to be the best in town, with thin, and I mean thin crust pizza with tasty toppings. There are meal combos available at lunchtime offering a pizza, salad and drink for greta value. If you like pizza you have to try this place. Only downside is the service where you're rarely greeted with a smile.

Simply WOW !

By Patrick L |

We were a party of eleven (four adults and seven kids from 2 to 10). Service was quick and welcoming even if the kids were screaming and running around. But the pizza...OMG ! Even the plain pizza for the kids was good. That thin crust and the toppings were absolutly delicious. Thank you for a great time !

A delicious experiment

By hilcon |

We found this restaurant by chance near our hotel. It was December 25th and we hadn't made a reservation. But a table was quickly found for us and the food was really excellent. We had pasta with shrimp and a salad. The service was friendly and very attentive. We reserved a table the next day, which was the right thing to do. We can only recommend it.

Poor.

By Daniela B |

Never seen “automatic” tips. Absurd. I'll never return to this horrible, lying place again. I've never had to pay 20% tips automatically. I complained and they said it was on the menu. In addition, there was a possibility in the account to add more tips (as in the normal tips). Be tips on top of tips.

Amazing service

By Kenzybear |

Easily the friendliest spot I’ve been to on my trip in NYC. Great hostess, prompt wine serving. I didn’t come for dinner so didn’t order food, but will likely return before the end to try their menu.

Good for lunch with good deals mid week

By jtas |

Nice food at a decent price (by NYC standards). We had pizzas - they weren't huge, which was fine for us. All good.

MOST EXPENSIVE PIZZA AROUND!

By Miran S |

If you like non-Italian and extremely expensive pizza in Manhattan go to Tappo on 24th street. The Mexican pizzaiolo makes a good thin crust and can spicy it up a good way. The Mexican owner(s) and staff can serve you efficiently. The pizza is very tasty. Then you get to pay. How about $32 for a 16-inch pizza (Tres Fuegos)? Or $27 for a 16-inch pizza called Meat Lovers? Tasty but the most expensive pizza you can have in a New York with so many pizza choices.

Fine

By Ceetje01 |

Had dinner here one evening. Located near the Flatiron building. We could sit outside (air conditioning made a lot of noise). Food tasted great and affordable for NY!

Best. Salad. Ever.

By Kristine S |

I absolutely, positively, have never felt so passionate about salad until I tried their apple cheddar salad. It is completely addicting. Then, their delicious thin crust margherita pizza came out, and I was hooked. My sister took me to this gem on a night out to Broadway, and I am feening to go back next week when she meets up with work friends. Getting on a train and traveling forty miles to go back again!

Excellent

By Cam S |

Tappo pizza is excellent thin crust pizza. Amazingly good. Service is very efficient but very wooden. Food comes really quickly so no complaints. The waiters just don't engage. Needless to say the food is awesome. I would recommend to anyone who has a love of authentic Italian food.

Excellent thin crust pizza

By schmutaki |

We enjoyed the tasty thin crust pizza. We had the basic margherita and the pizza with sausage and carmelized onions. Pizzas are expensive but large. Crust is thin and crispy. Penne vodka was also good. We had a nice comfortable booth. Not too noisy. Service was so-so. Our waiter seemed disinterested. Overall a good experience at Tappo.

Best thin crust I've eaten.

By Blake O |

Perfect Italian thin crust pizza. Good location in Chelsea/Flatiron on 25th. They give you a real glass of wine!

Thin Crust is a must!

By lissaWanderlust |

Hands down the best pizza in NYC. We love this place! The pepperoni is soooo good. Excellent service and plenty of seating.

Nice atmosphere, but poor food

By hsplant |

Went there after seeing good reviews. We went on a Sunday at 19:15, the restaurant had about 70% tables full so looked promising. We ordered a pizza and lasagne. Pizza came in about 20 mins but lasagne took 40 mins as throughout the evening any non pizza orders seemed delayed and messed up from what we could hear from other guests. Then the lasagne turned up and was not nicely presented and just about on the warm side. Plus pizzas lack sufficient cheese and over load on the meat. Not well balanced if u enjoy tasting cheese on it. But after waiting so long we decided to eat a bit of the food and head off to find somewhere with better service and cold beers. Not recommended. Over priced, poor food, not served hot. If u want a simple good and VERY tasty go to Ray's Famous pizza place. Still in Chelsea.

Great food

By Carey A |

The waits staff was friendly. My salad and chicken sandwich were delicious. My son enjoyed his pizza and his friend enjoyed the pasta. Be aware that if you are gluten free only the pasta, not the pizza, is gluten free.

Good, but can do better in NYC

By DNsquared |

Pretty good pizza. Thin and crispy, which is unusual, but not as good as other places nearby, and especially in Little Italy. Nice outdoor space and fresh salad.

Bad Faith - Imposed a tip and tryied to trich us with double tip

By AlexandreSR1 |

Bad Faith Restaurant! The restaurant imposed a tip of 20%. We didn't have a choice about which tip to pay. And more over: they suggested a double tip, putting another tip over the total with a tip.

Best ever pizza and pasta!

By Susan H |

We hadn’t planned to eat at Tappo but we’re so glad we did, best ever meal. Warm welcome, spacious with a good atmosphere, helpful staff and the food was excellent, fresh, tasty and well priced. We weren’t rushed and we would go again. Thank you for a great meal!!

Very good

By Mlleron |

I really like this place both for eating in and takeaway. The pizza is fantastic, the best in the neighborhood. Style is thin crust. Ingredients are top quality. I live in the neighborhood and find that it is better to eat in or pick up and run home. The crust is so much better if it still a little bit crunchy. When I get delivery it is always needs reheating. Good well priced bottles of vino tipico. Occasionally on weekends it can be sort of loud if there is a children's party. Still my compliments excellent!

Superb

By emerites |

What a lovely place staff friendly and helpful highly and excellent service and food couldn’t fault it

Great Pizza and Atmosphere

By darthsansa14 |

We loved this place so much, I ate there twice on my most recent trip to NYC. The mushroom pizza and the quinoa/avocado salad were both incredible. Fresh and tasty. Service was good. I plan to go back on my next trip.

Excellent thin crust pizza!

By Bob T |

We really enjoyed the pizza here. The pizza has a very thin crust and was cooked perfectly. Toppings were all very fresh. We had the meat lovers, and the shroom, and both were delicious. Service was friendly and not rushed.

Thinnest thin crust we've ever eaten!

By Fonda W |

I don't know how they get the crust so thin, but it was the thinnest we've ever eaten. Nice and crispy like we like it! There are also some lunch specials that run until 5 pm during the week. If you like thin, crispy crust you should try it.

Best Pizza

By Echo |

Best thin crusted pizza in town. It has been a local sleeper for a long time but we dream of how good it is and how good it tastes when we are away and can’t wait to be back

Fantastic place

By JamesHeath76 |

Authentic interior with great staff. We took advantage of the bargain happy hour offer of a pitcher of beer with a free large pizza. Worth every penny. My wife's gf pizza was incredible too. Highly recommended!

Excellent pizza and service

By Gaelle |

We came as a party of 7 with young kids and were quickly accomodated. The food menu is very diverse with suggested pizzas but also a huge list of ingredients to choose from if one wishes to make their own. At first we sat next to big group of very loud people. After seeing our discomfort, the waitress (again quickly) sat our group at a more quiet table, this was priceless. We had a great dinner, suggest tasting any of their pizzas (tres fuegos: awesome mix of taste; parma offered many tastes and textures) and macaroni-cheese that kids had were big plates and they loved it!

Great Pizza

By Joy P |

We were trying to find a great place to eat some NY pizza and we found one. If ever in NY go to Tappo it is wonderful.

Great thin crusts pizzas !

By Issac J |

I suspect they are from the same group as Vezzo and Spunto. And like the other two, absolutely delicious thin crust pizzas. Between me and my wife we have had about 6 pizzas from the menu over different days and they were yet to put a foot wrong. The only tip I can give here to make the experience better is while ordering you can check once with the waiter once before ordering. Given their business, they are always likely to suggest something that's better than what you were looking for. No complaints across multiple visits. Would happily go back again. And again.

It's a damn thin crust!

By gordelbar |

We liked it. Good pizza, good service. No complaints. Anchovies on the side is a very generous portion. if your partner has a salad, add their unwanted onions and olives to your slice and save a couple bucks.

"Amazing"!!!!!

By craig k |

Great Place! Best Mushroom Pizza you will ever find. They also have some amazing Salads as well! Clean, wonderful service, and great drinks as well. This place will not disappoint.

Pizza comfort food

By gorlinjay |

Pizza heaven. Thin crust but not cardboard. Toppings are fresh and choices art numerous and combinations are interesting Meatballs a kid’s favorite. Children friendly. Good for birthday parties. Good beer choices.

Amazing pizza

By Y9901VVjamies |

If you like super thin crust pizza this is the place to go. We just happened to walk by and decided to go. Great decision. The cheddar apple salad was super fresh and the dressing was awesome. The pizza was so thin and crispy, sauce and toppings were also great! Definitely will visit this place again. Our server, Venice, was super helpful!

Nice little spot for a quick pizza!

By RowZee |

Nice (quieter) little spot with pleasant staff. Pizza definitely had a thin crust and was tasty enough. We actually were fine with the personal pizza with two slices each as we couldn't take any leftovers from a large pizza.

Amazing Pizza

By klocco1 |

Tried the personal thin crust plain pizza, thought I was going to die! It was simply amazing! Very close to Hampton Inn on 24th Street. Wonderful atmosphere, great food!

Great service and pizza, cute location

By PaulaJeanH |

We picked this place for its proximity to our hotel and the Gramercy Theater, but were more than happy. Great pizza (love the Chickpotle), good beer selection, attentive service, cute decor, and decent prices.

Very tasty pizza

By Amber C |

Wonderful thin crust pizza - very tasty! Would definitely recommend the salsiccia dolce pizza!! Only strike against this place was how loud it was.

A taste of Italy

By trip-radar |

An authentic Italian restaurant, where the ambiance is both inviting and serene. The service is prompt and the staff greets you with genuine warmth and professionalism. Prices are reasonable, making it a great spot for a casual meal or a special occasion. Soft, soothing music sets the tone for a relaxing dining experience.

Thin crust done right

By JHeston72 |

Found this spot on our last trip to NYC and had to go again. They did not disappoint! Best thin crust pizza I’ve ever had, hands down. We had salads, too, both of which were amazing. Friends with me were disappointed in the size of their cocktails for the price. But cocktail itself was reported to be delicious.

Thin crust pizza that is home made

By dawnstah65 |

In on business and stopped in for a quick bite after landing. Nice neighborhood spot. Ordered a thin crust pizza - was amazing and delicious. Very fresh ingredients. Very good. Staff was friendly and pleasant, customers were families and singles in the area. I highly recommend this spot, it is not fast food it is a restaurant.

Nice dinner

By photographersabroad |

We stopped in here without recommendation. We are yummy thin pizza. Pizza was savory and crisp. Pasta, spaghetti and meatballs. The highlight was the apple and cheddar salad. Yum. Dark, bar type atmosphere. No free refills on cokes. There is a bar, a bit loud.

Italian

By Al M |

This was my first visit to Tappo, although I have enjoyed many meals over the years at their associated restaurant Vezzo on Lexington Ave. They take covid precautions seriously. They took my temperature and asked me to sign in with contact information. It was raining hard and there was no sidewalk dining. (I would have preferred to eat outside.) The rigatoni Bolognese and wine were splendid… all very comforting on a gloomy afternoon. The waiter was pleasant. The atmosphere consists of typical pizza parlor decor... fine for what it is but nothing fancy. Tappo provided the perfect respite from the dampness and the puddles.

A Little Taste of Italy in the Chelsea part of NYC

By eljefega |

Very very tasty NY pizza with just the right touch of Italy to set it apart. A treat for my entire family. We'll be back when next in the Big Apple.

The place for pizza in flatiron

By Yvette |

Skip Eataly, for delicious think crust pizza, go here! Friendly staff, spacious area, clean facility and delicious pizza make this stop a no brainer. Prices are beyond reasonable for the area. The lunch special, a personal pizza with nicely arranged salad and beverage a steal. Always some good disco music on, at a low enough level for you to enjoy your food and company. Pastas also look good.

Well cooked, tasty food.

By leonard m |

This is primarily a pizza place but only two of our party of six ordered pizza. The others ordered various alternatives and three of the party had the linguini with mushrooms and truffle oil which we all agreed was very good indeed. We all had to try the pizza and were not disappointed (except the two who ordered it because they now had to share). The starters were of generous proportions and were still being consumed when the main courses arrived (which suggests a timing issue in the kitchen). In summary, the food was very good. We ordered two of their more expensive wines which were fine. Like most places in NY in my experience at least, the wine seems to be overpriced for what it is when compared to European outlets of similar standing, and this was no exception. The wine is served in an extended shot glass (like a small highball glass) for reasons which were unexplained. Maybe they stack better in the dishwasher? Personally I would have preferred a regular wine glass as it just makes the expensive wine seem like the real McCoy. Pouring their best wine into a tumbler seems to debase the product. However if you like your wine quirky, maybe just ask for a straw. The decor is functional, the service ok and the food tasty. We had a great evening and I wouldn't hesitate to go back. I will probably take my own wine glass next time! As pizza places go, this was very good.

Thin crust pie in new york

By Mukesh G |

We order by phone in our way home to pick up. Pizza was thin crust New York style cheese and sauce at bottom and vegetables on top perfectly roasted with light feta cheese on top. Bit expensive but considering every thing in New York is kind of higher.

Best thin crust pizza ever!

By Brando2468 |

I'm not a big fan of thin crush, cuz I do like my pizza heavy. But this wasn't any normal thin crust. Great flavour, perfect amount of crispness to the crust, but not burnt, and a perfect balance of toppings. I'm a huge fan, and will be back next time im in town!

Great Find

By BCM |

Stumbled across this great find at 6th Ave. and 24th St. in Chelsea by chance last January and returned on a recent trip to NYC last weekend. Great salads (large portions that are very satisfying) and delicious thin crust pizzas that you can customize and order in personal sizes if desired. Full bar, casual, nice atmosphere. Recommended.

Good, Super Thin Crust

By Carla N |

This was a 30 second walk from our hotel and recommended by one of the hotel staff. After a quick menu and review lookup, we decided to try it. We had been walking around the city all day and wanted to eat some place close by. We had the Rotella and each got a personal pizza. Everything was really good. The pizza is super thin crust and a welcomed change from the super doughy, kind of crappy delivery we get at home. Would definitely go back.

Thinnest pizza ever

By vbddrive |

I love very thin pizza and this was the thinnest ever. Just delicious brick oven Manhattan style pizza. There is also a pretty good beer menu.

Great pizza and staff.

By doad58 |

Nice restaurant on the corner of 6th Avenue and W 24 street. Pizza was great tasting and cooked to perfection. If you like traditional Italian thin pizza and I mean thin, this is the place. Staff were attentive and friendly.

Very Good Thin Pizza!

By Lillian R |

After leaving the Rachel Ray show last Wednesday we were headed toward Eataly. Too tired to continue to walk we came across Tappo and decided to give it a try! The Hostess was just very pleasant! The thin crust was excellent so were the soups and sandwiches my sisters and Mom had. It was a great find. Great lunch spot! Great value for NYC.

Excellent pizzas, great value!

By Laurence_Brussels |

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel so we decided to try it. It has a great "brasserie" atmosphere and serves excellent thin crust pizzas. Their Greek salad was equally excellent and so was the cheese cake! On top of that, the waitress was very nice, food was served quickly and the musical background was great (thank you for the 80's music :-) ). An excellent address in Chelsea!

Delicious!

By AlejandraGiron |

The pizza is soooo good, they also had thes breads with goat cheese and balsamic reduction, that was very good. The service is great too.

We love this place!

By AmandaC1060 |

We've visited Tappo twice on both our visits to NYC this year and yes, they serve great pizza but it's the fabulous, friendly and attentive service that makes Tappo stand out. Always busy but not overwhelmingly noisy, there's a lovely bar, good selection of drinks and pizzas and also delicious enormous salads. We'll be back next year!!

I Don't Know Where To Start

By Valerie |

This place was amazing. Had sandwiches and salads for lunch. The homemade balsamic dressing was like none other. Went back for dinner and had the thin crust pizza. I'll never be the same. Prices are great and the service was even better. Happy hour was nothing to sneeze at. Will definitely be back on my next visit.

Long Overdue Reunion

By iamanurseinnj |

We chose this restaurant based on a recommendation. Most of the group came from out of state. We all know nothing beats NYC pizza. There were 9 of us. We called in advance and were told we could be accommodated. Our waiter was quite rude to one end of the table. I guess he didn't like our taking some time with our decisions. At that time, we were the only people in the restaurant. To make a long story short, I wasn't happy. But, the out of towners loved the pizza!

Neighborhood Dinner with the kids

By jen h |

We were looking for a spot with a sidewalk cafe nearby and this place was great. The pizza was thin and crispy, so good! We also had a pasta (OK), and my salad was superb. We ended up back here our last night, just for the ease and fact that it is not a tourist spot with crowds and high prices, not to mention we really liked the food and wine! Nice view of the Flatiron building at sunset!

Italian's liking the Italian food on 24th Street!

By Ingrid L |

The thin crust pizza was amazing! The salads and the soup (Gazpacho) are a cut above most pizza places. All the ingredients was super fresh. Omg... forgot to mention the fantastic Bruschetta. All the food is wonderful! Can't wait to go back to try the shrimp Linguine or Scampi on my next visit.

Great Quick Sit Down Lunch

By 808abby |

this is one of our go-to places for a quick sit down lunch with table service. It has a lunch special menu with many choices. Service is quick and friendly.

Must visit!

By stella |

Authentic, cozy and fresh restaurant with amazing pizza! We tried two different and both of them tasted so much and so good. Can’t describe. Worth every dime

Better than Joes!!!

By Mary D |

The pizza and pasta was amazing! We went back twice! The service was great! The menu had more than enough entrees to choose from. Either a quick bite or dinner this is the spot!! I’ve been to the famous Joes everyone raves about but this place is hands down BETTER!!!

Amazing Thon Crust Pizza!

By ColorqueenNy |

I sat outside at this restaurant. The service was great! I ordered a delicious drink with Titos vodka, limoncella and basil. For lunch I had a house salad and personal pie. The lettuce was very fresh with amazing marinated mushrooms and olives and a delicious balsamic dressing. The pie was to die for! The thinnest, crisp crust with broccoli, spinach, tomatoes, cheese and full cloves of roasted garlic. If you like thin crust pizza, you must come here! The menu selection is vast and there are many salad and sandwich options as well as pasta lunch specials.

Recent find, great pizza, must-have

By hmikki |

I am a NYC pizza aficionado and have tried all the popular spots in Manhattan, Brooklyn, etc. and have traveled as far as New Haven, CT for a good pie. Tappo thin-crust pizza was a recent addition to my good-pizza list (suggested by a colleague at work). I am glad I found this place - better late than never! I have only had delivery from this place, so cannot speak to the in-house experience. I never imagined I would write this, but the shrimp pizza (Tres Fuegos) is just amazing, one of the best pizzas I have had. The spicy marinara sauce nicely pulls together the sauteed shrimps and the crumbled spicy chorizo. Get over the shrimp-on-pizza blocker and you'll love this one. The ChickPotle is another interesting option - the shredded chicken and the housemade chipotle sauce balance out the pineapple. If you are not a big pineapple-on-pizza fan, do skip :-). The Classica, Giardino, El Greco, and the Meatlover's are some of the other pies that are worth a try. The crust is thin and is the right amount of crusty. A must-try if you are in the market for good NYC pizza.

Good pizza

By coljul |

We came across this pizza place whilst looking for a place to eat .it wasn't too busy at the time and easily found a table. Seemed to be being used by people after work . Anyway food was good and hot .we shared a pizza from the menu which was good not amazing but nothing to complain about. Service was good and swift. I would recommend

A great pizzeria with friendly staff

By Irishtraveller24 |

We discovered this pizzeria by chance over the Christmas period. A family run restaurant and a lovely atmosphere. My three teenage children are pizza experts and rated the pizza’s a some of the best they have tasted anywhere. My own quinoa and avocado salad with shrimp was excellent and exactly what I needed. The only limiting factor was the range of wines by the glass. A first world problem I guess. Next time in NYC we will definitely go back.

Lunch

By alonse |

We tried the lunch menu, I took one of the sandwiches, although served hot, which was nice, I have had much better.

Great salads and pizza

By riodoc |

Have eaten here several times and found food to be consistently fresh and delicious. Nice atmosphere and good service. Especially liked the goat cheese and roasted beet salad as well as the Parma pizza. They also have Peroni on tap, nice and cold.....

Fantastic, delicious, reasonable and great service

By Joe M |

We were looking for an Italian near our shopping location and found this place using tripadvisor. It was packed but after a short wait at the bar we were seated. The lunch menu includes a soft drink (you can trade up to wine/beer) and we had two slices of pizza for $5 and two lunch pastas for $12 each (inc garlic bread and salad). Food was really tasty (even the green salad) and served quickly. This place is a true gem for lunch, wouldn't hesitate if in the area again.
