Delicious breakfast and impeccable service

By Sylviel29 |

Having stayed several days in a hotel near Grand Central where breakfast was prohibitively expensive, we came each morning to have breakfast at Tartinery on the lower level of Grand Central. Large and beautiful room. Very good quality pastries. “Granola Yoghourt” with red fruits, granola pieces and really excellent honey. Very hearty. Fast and impeccable service. We had the same waiter every day, named Carlos, a lovely waiter, very smiling, very professional. If we ever return to New York, we will definitely go back.

Healthy lunch

By RosB__11 |

We had planned to go to the Oyster Bar but discovered it was closed on Mondays. Looking around Grand Central we started to despair with what seemed only to be a myriad of fast food outlets to choose from. What a pleasant surprise to find Tartinery. We were able to enjoy a tasty and healthy lunch and were served by a friendly waiter. I was super impressed that a gratuity was not AUTOMATICALLY included as with so many US establishments. Of course we were only too happy to oblige given our experience. Thank you Tartinery for contributing toward a happy day.

Could be better

I was in a rush, so I ordered a croissant and some juice. I shortly witnessed someone returning their croissant after touching it with their bare hands, and the cashier placed it back with the others where there were flies flying around. Absolutely disgusting. If you have a weak immune system beware of this place.

A Creative & Delicious Healthy Menu Option in the heart of Grand Central Station

By parimuu |

I was delighted to discover a healthier menu option at Grand Central Station in NYC. Healthy is NOT boring or taste of cardboard at this place. You can see all the food prepared in front of you and see that they use fresh ingredients. The Tartinery (the Parisian Toast) has several toast options: Smashed Avocado Toast, Ham & Swiss, Turmeric Chicken & Pizza. They also have soups: Butternut Squash, Chestnut & Mushroom and Vegan. Their salads & bowls include: Chopped Kale Caesar, Goat Cheese Salad, Quinoa Bowl & Warm Wild Rice Bowl. Add ons are: salmon, chicken or soft-boiled egg. They also have nutella or strawberry for sweet tartines. Their savoury tartines are: Caprese, Labneh, Hummus & Avocado, Ricotta & Prosciutto, Roast Beef, Chicken Salad, Club, Croque Monsieur and Smoked Salmon. They offer a variety of smoothies, wellness drinks and coffees/teas (including sencha). Did I mention the All Day Breakfast? The service here is excellent. They are quick, polite, attentive and switched on- when the cashier bagged my order, she checked it twice & made sure that I had napkins & eating utensils without being prompted. It is a breath of fresh air in the life of a commuter when you are on the run. Your order will be well-packaged in a thin cardboard box in a paper bag (& your toast cut in half) so you can eat with dignity on the train. The website was still under construction at the time this review was written.

Decent tea and cappuccino

By Matthew D |

We came here on the day of arrival, needing tea. The tea was not the classic strong breakfast tea but was so refreshing, I’m British so have milk… but i skipped it and enjoyed real tea! We then came for breakfast on our last day. Finally a decent cappuccino the Italians would need proud of. Small, not a glass of milk. The food was ace too!

A supporting act to the main attraction

By 288Eurotravels |

Which was of course Grand Central Terminal itself. What a marvellous building it is but rather lacking in trains these days. But having made the pilgrimage we had to have breakfast at one of the bars in the lower concourse. I am sure many of the others would have met our needs but this provided a sensibly sized banana muffin and o yoghurt / granola combination . I ate several of these whilst in New York and theirs was the best.

Hit or BIG Miss

By DWC |

I had had coffee and breakfast at this establishment about four months ago. Service was fast and pleasant and the food was decent. I stopped there this morning after a business meeting and had a much different experience. I ordered a latte coffee and their yogurt parfait. The server brought the parfait over in a plastic container you get at a deli and slammed it on the counter and walked away. The ingredients were all haphazarded sideways as if the thing was put in the fridge case upside down. All other patrons meals were served on dishes and nicely presented. Who knows how long this thing was sitting in the fridge? I had to remind the server two times about my coffee as I had a time crunch for my train. After she served the coffee she walked away and I asked for sugar. She asked a coworker to bring me the sweeteners. He glared at me and slammed it down in front of me. 🤷 If you’re by Grand Central next time, do yourself a big favor find any other place to grab breakfast. I should’ve gone to Zaro’s instead.

Boa opção dentro da Grand Central Station

By Bianca Blaezer |

When visiting Grande Central Station, be sure to explore all the sites of this tourist spot, which also has varied meal options. This bakery/restaurant is perfect for a quick stop, featuring bread, sandwiches, coffee, soups, desserts and varied juices.

Nice lunch

By brist0lcelt |

We had a nice lunch of a croque monsieur and a club sandwich, with soft drinks, at The Tartinery. They have a good selection of menu options, mainly around baguettes/tartines/toasted sandwiches. They appeared to have the best options available amongst the food outlets on the Dining Concourse.

SKIP, better options outside the terminal

Arrived here based on a higher rating on the popular maps app! A big disappointment with the food and coffee Staff were excellent

Very delicious lunch

By Alison S |

First time picking up lunch here (to eat on MetroNorth on way home). Apparently a tartine is an open faced sandwich. I chose chicken salad and it was creamy & delicious on good bread. Large serving. Disappointed they didn't have any chips or other good munchy accompaniments. Also disappointed they didn't give us our water bottles, which we only discovered when we were on our way. Definitely would try again..

Lower level food court, excellent!

By Victoria T |

A great addition to the food court in the lower level of Grand Central Station. The avocado toast was delicious, as were the non alcoholic drinks, definetely go again!

Perfect little breakfast cafe in the historic and beautiful Grand Central Station

By Josh Lat |

This was a perfect NYC breakfast experience when visiting this April 2025. Showing our daughters Grand Central Station and stopping down to this little gem of a cafe in the lower level of the concourse couldn’t have been better. The service was courteous, kind, thoughtful and genuine. We ordered 4 different breakfast choices and each of them was incredibly delicious and a touch above just a standard breakfast. The coffee drinks were delicious and perfect. The price was right. Under $10 for a breakfast selection was where it should be even though it was nicer than standard. I will be back whenever we visit next. Well done.

A peaceful spot in Grand Central Station

By Robert H |

We found this peaceful and comfortable spot in Grand Central Staion for great coffee and wonderful soup and sandwiches. I loved the curry chicken sandwich.

Nice staff, excellent avocado toast

By Eugenie B |

After a very, very long day and flight from Amsterdam we decided to have a quick bite here. My daughter was tired as she was awake for almost 24 hours. She sat down at a small table that was only for service, not take away. A very nice employee explained that she actually couldn’t sit there, but said not to worry and to enjoy our meals. We felt very welcome. And the avocado toast… delicious! Ofcourse when it’s made by such a friendly and happy team in the open kitchen. It made our day!

We made the RIGHT choice

By hotbutton |

With a hell of a lot of restaurants on Grand Central Station, choosing one at 10 a.m was not easy. so we took a chance after looking at the menu boards. Glad we chose this one. Service was friendly and efficient. My guest had the avocado sandwich and a small cup of pumpkin soup. They disappeared. I was NOT allowed to sample her sandwich which she loved but I was allowed a taste of the pumpkin soup which was outstanding for taste and mainly because its ingredients distinguished itself from all of the others I have tasted around the world. I had a freshly made juice with apples, oranges and .....can't remember but I loved it. Then I loved the ham and cheese....cheese tasted fresh and was NOT overwhelming, the bread was so delicious with the ham and frisee....once again I was in heaven and it was really the best way to start the day. Some people rate food as in a maximum of 10 which my guest gave her sandwich after one bit. But I rate restaurants on whether or not I would go back again and my answer is yes, yes. Even if I don't have any business in Grand Central. When my sandwich arrived "open" it was a work of art...I was a little hesitant to eat it. Boy was it delicious.

Frustratingly slow I had fo leave without eating.

By Walter K |

Being located in Grand Central terminal, I would not have been the first customer to want a quick tartine while waiting for a train. Having sat down and ordered 25 minutes before my departure time In a restaurant barely 25% full I never imagined what would come next. Nothing. Despite a gentle reminder that I had a train to catch, no food. How hard is it to serve a bowl of soup ana a sandwich. Apparently for the Tartinary it was impossible. With just enough time to catch my train I got up and moved on without eating. The staff seemed distracted in their own amusement. Kinda sad. And that how they earned a well deserved **

Grand Central

Simple but efficient, reasonable price for Grand Central. The staff is friendly Good choice of salad and savory bread. I recommend it.

Great breakfast to start the day well!

Lovely fresh squeezed juice

By Andy Barnes |

We stopped here while visiting grand central station. We sat down and quickly served at the table. We only ordered two fresh squeezed juices but received them quickly. Delicious drinks at reasonable prices. I would visit again and would recommend.

Decent sandwiches in Grand Central foodcourt

By Back_to_Sandringham |

Tartinery is in the middle of the Grand Central foodcourt, but has the advantage of having cordoned-off seating both for sit-down meals and grab-and-go guests. The sandwiches are nice and the coffee is pretty good. Nice pastries too. Not somewhere you would seek out for lunch, but if you are just passing by it is fine.

Mandatory stop by decree

By Fer Eillman |

This is the place to have breakfast without a doubt. You have healthy and unhealthy options such as a yogurt dish to an omelette with pancetta. All top quality and with wonderful care. This place is mandatory stop. Hugs and good holidays

Change of management worth trying

By Claudia148 |

I had frequented this place inside a prestigious shopping center in the heart of Manhattan in Columbus Circle, already several times here it was a French restaurant/pastry shop/bakery and it was called Bouchon. I was very disappointed when it changed management fearing a reduction in quality and a further increase in prices, however I wanted to check it out for myself. A very pleasant surprise, we ate well, the desserts were excellent, the service was courteous and fast and the price was decidedly low especially for NY and the center of Manhattan in particular. I recommend it for a snack for lunch during a tourist visit in those parts.

Perfect for us!

By John R |

My wife and I are delighted to find this little gem in the dining concourse of Grand Central Station. Arriving on the Long Island Railroad for a long weekend at the Fitzpatrick Grand Central we needed a short break. My Lentil soup was incredible! Perfect in flavor and presentation came with a delicious slice of toast that I really enjoyed dipping. My wife enjoyed the smashed avocado on toast with the soft boiled egg. I even got a small sample. This level of food is not what is expected when traveling. Service was attentive and friendly. These people know what they are doing. Give them a try when you are in the station. I imagine you will be pleasantly surprised. We went on Thursday afternoon and were so happy that we returned on Monday.. Thank you Tartinery....well done

Informal lunch

By sara f |

Located on the lower level of the station, within the dining area, it offers a wide selection of canapés, sandwiches, salads, pastries, coffee, fresh juices and smoothies, as well as a selection of wines and beers. We stopped for a quick lunch after visiting Grand Central and ordered: Ficelles sandwich with Brie cheese and fig jam ($7.50), Club Canapés with turkey, Brie, bacon, tomato, spinach and mayonnaise ($17.5),Creamy Burrata Canapés with burrata, cherry tomatoes and basil ($16.50) all accompanied by a Blue Point beer ($11). The food is good and prepared with quality ingredients; Service, however, is a bit slow and discontinuous. Prices are quite high, as often happens in New York, but overall the place is recommended for a quick and informal lunch, without much pretension.

Grand Central’s Best Sandwich

By Sabena S |

Two days ago I ate a ham and cheese ficelle at Tartinery. With slim pickings in the lower ground floor of Grand Central Station I saw the French eatery and remembered that I had eaten at both the Soho and the food court at the Plaza Hotel. Most people eat standing around high round tables. I was fortunate to find a chair and table and enjoy lunch. The bread consisted of only ham and cheese. I would have liked it with a smear of butter and mustard, cornichons and some greens to make it more filling. Tartinery has an area for diners to eat which is what I will do next time. Assorted viennoiseries and hot and cold drinks are also available.

Avoid

Ignorant money grabbing business. Bought a drink, and apparently, not enough to sit down Do not bother terrible service

Hello?? Anybody there???

By Tracy P |

The food was pretty good. I had a quinoa, spinach salad bowl and avocado toast. Both were very good but the service is absolutely abysmal. Can’t get anyone’s attention once they bring you the initial order. We would’ve spent a lot more money and had a lot more drinks if the waiter would’ve ever bothered to ask us even twice when he was serving people next to us he never turned to ask us if everything was OK did we want anything else and we just sat there waiting. The Boss boy had the personality of a rock couldn’t get his attention and when you spoke to him, he just glared at you like he had no idea what you were saying and didn’t want to hear what you were saying. No one ever came back to our table and it wasn’t just us. I never saw the waiter visit any table next to us once they drop the food they were done.

Unexpectedly Delicious

By Bonnie K |

We stopped here Saturday morning and were suitably impressed. Our server, Emmanuel, was knowledgeable, attentive, and polite. We enjoyed the food very much. I only wish the almond croissant had had more almond cream in the middle.

DO NOT GO TO TARTINERY!!

By AK1918 |

Do not go here. Food is bland and overpriced. Nowhere to sit even when you order here so you are stuck with takeout food and no seat. Takes forever and terrible.

Grand Central Station Surprise!

By Victoria T |

Considering this restaurant is in the Dining Hall at Grand Central, it has really good food and drinks! Their avocado toast is really good, and their quiona bowl is excellent too. Plus they serve mimosas!!

Great sit down option in GC

By Cathrab28 |

We stopped in to get out of the rain and grab a quick bite and a beer for the hubs. Avocado toast was yummy, Quinoa bowl A+ and the cookies were perfect! Full bar and sit down as well as counter service.

Healthy and tasty

By Jen H |

Tasty, healthy and beautifully presented. Basically, you are getting an open-faced sandwich with high-quality ingredients. Try the tuna tartine-its delicious, light yet filling. The freshly blended health juices are great beverages to go with your lunch as well.

Nice spot

By John M |

Yes, it's Grand Central Station - so no ambience - it's noisy, crowded, etc. But this is nice spot to grab food if you have some time to spend. The quinoa bowl I had was fantastic. Service was quick and friendly. A decent spot if you're at Grand Central for some reason and need to eat.
