Very veryyyy loud. The food is not good. The drinks are not good. Do not recommend at all. Very bas service. Not worth the money.

Such a cozy, sweet place. The ambience is amazing and you just feel nestled in as you step into the charming location. The lights in the courtyard, the buzzing in the kitchen, all of it is so fun to take in. With that being said, the food and service were just not at all what we were expecting. We were in NYC for a 50th birthday celebration, and this was where we went on the actual birthday. If they don't make a big deal out of birthdays, that is fine. But I was a bit surprised that not one person mentioned happy birthday. If they don't want to call attention to celebrations, I am not sure why they asked when I was making the reservation if we were coming for a special event. I put in the reservation that it was for a "50th birthday celebration." Not one word for the hostess, the person who took us to our table, the server, nor the (I assume) manager who popped by the table briefly. Before leaving to NYC, we had a nice dinner in the Dallas area. That restaurant had a birthday card on our table signed by all of the servers, our server told me happy birthday, and the manager came to our table just to say happy birthday (not to mention we were served complimentary dessert). I didn't need or want anything free, but the lack of any verbal celebration at Tavern on the Green was surprising. In addition, the food was just meh. Nothing exceptional at all. We started with the crab cake. It felt like something I'd get from the frozen section at Costco. It was fine, but nothing out of the ordinary. Our party had the steak and the chicken. Both appeared to not be seasoned at all. We made our way over and found ourselves some salt and pepper grinders to help elevate the food a bit. Then we started noticing other tables had received bread. We never did. Half way through our meal we inquired and we were brought bread. Perhaps because we were dining during the off-season / slow season they just weren't bringing their "A Game," but it just wasn't at the level of service nor the quality of food we were expecting and looking forward to.

The atmosphere was fantastic! We went specifically for the Christmas decorations and festive surroundings which did not disappoint. Tje service was fine. Server was sweet and bubbly and food came out at a good speed. The limited menu choices for Christmas dinner were fine with something for everyone. Sadly, the reviews about the food were accurate and the meals were disappointing. The cauliflower soup was terrible. The beef was cooked very well however it was smothered in a sauce fat was barely edible. The ham was overcooked. Enjoy Tavern in the Green for the atmosphere.

Tavern on the Green is a magical place — but guests should be aware of one serious issue. My wife and I had a beautiful afternoon there. The atmosphere was festive, the staff warm and gracious, and the setting truly special. Unfortunately, our experience was shattered by one manager named Amy/Aimee, whose hostility toward us and our verified service dog was completely out of place. She confronted us aggressively at the entrance and later even threatened to remove us from the restaurant because I gave our dog a tiny holiday treat. Nothing about her behavior reflected the spirit of the restaurant or its team. I reached out privately to management first because I respect this establishment, but after receiving no response, I feel other patrons should be aware. One person’s hostility shouldn’t ruin such a magical place. — Serge

The atmosphere was incredibly beautiful, and our table location could not be beat. The bread and our appetizer (burrato) was great. My husband's pork was good and my son's steak was good. I had the heirloom grains and vegetables which were only okay. None of our potatoes or vegetables had any seasoning at all which is why this is four stars instead of five. Great experience thought.

Beautiful setting, very nice indoor and outdoor dining spaces, expensive but worth it once in a while. We have been coming to NYC for decades and always have one meal here. The food, though expensive, is quite good. We had reservations - VERY strongly recommended. Initially we were seated next to the kitchen which was noisy so we asked to be moved and they were fine with that. We ordered a cobb salad and french onion soup - both excellent. Laura and Rashae were our servers. They were friendly and accomodating...really added to the experience. This is a fun, beautiful place to eat.

Very nicely appointed restaurant, pretty flowers, nice chandeliers, but that is where the beauty ends. The food was not good and our server was not having a very good day apparently. I would not waste time or money on this again. Two people ordered the burgers and couldn't even eat them. The server didn't ask if there was something wrong or anything. Very disappointing!!

We always thought this place was so upscale and too fancy to come in after walking around Central Park but the timing was right so we tried it! We were seated immediately without a reservation, and while the ambiance is upscale, it didn’t feel stuffy or formal. Our food was incredible. The portions were large, and while more expensive than a fast food place, the prices weren’t outrageous. We would definitely come back here next time we visit!

Everything as it should be at this iconic spot. Food solid, generous, classic. Service very good. Atmosphere nice. Decent wines by the glass. Non-alcoholic beer. Overall, nice experience. We had a reservation for a late lunch, but it wasn’t crowded.

We had booked for lunch but had to cancel because we ran out of time due to sightseeing. We decided to take a chance for an early dinner. So glad that we did. We were seated straight away. Our waiter was very attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was exceptional. Definitely have a dessert. They are off the chart. Great atmosphere. Busy but not too loud. So glad we managed to get to the Tavern on the Green.

We took a stroll through Central Park and decided to have lunch at the Tavern. After a short wait, we were able to get a seat at the bar. Santiago was our bartender/server, and he was excellent. He made great conversation and our drink and food order were both done quickly and correctly. He mixed a great Bloody Mary and recommended the burger, which I think may have been the best burger I’ve ever had. My wife had the Cobb salad and it was delicious. We will definitely dine here again on our next visit to NY.

This was my first visit to the new version of this iconic restaurant in Central Park. Having been to the previous incarnation I was slightly apprehensive about this one but my fears were soon allayed. Unbeknown to us we were dining on the evening they have their tree lighting which made the evening all the more festive and special. The food was quite exceptional - I opted for the Grilled Baby Octopus, Caramelized Rack of Lamb and Espresso Creme Brulee. Despite the place being fully booked the service was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. I look forward to returning here the next time I'm in New York.

If you're looking for a cute restaurant with bad food and high prices, this is the place. They sell one thing on the menu and deliver another on the plate. I complained to the waitress and the maître d', but they ridiculed me, I'm a chef in hotels here in Brazil and I made constructive criticism to improve the service. I hope they improve the relationship with their main product, which is the customer.

It was just lovely. The building and site is beautiful. The staff were friendly and warm. The food was delicious. My first time in NYC, and going to Tavern on the Green set the scene for a wonderful visit.

It’s a great place to have luch in spring. The menu and beers were very nice. Highly recomended for a nice stop when you’re walking around Central Park.

This iconic restaurant does not disappoint. The ambience is perfect, the service was stellar, and the food was amazing. We visited based on recommendations from friends and TripAdvisor reviews, and loved it. We will return on our next visit to NY.

Birthday dinner, for my husband. Strange enough, did they place a "happy bday card" at our table, however no recognition!! Great law is cation, excellent staff, fun and tempting meny. Fig and goat cheese salad, mozzarella and tomatoes (could have been only one mozzarella, and added more tomatoes and arugula) generously, asparagus with poached, perfect, egg and crispy Serrano ham. Yummy. Mango cheese cake, and unfortunately a cold espresso. We enjoyed the evening very much. Our server was very nice and efficient. Several staff, from Senegal, talked to us, as we live in Paris.

It was our break away for a few days myself and my husband. We had planned to go here so we booked a table in October. It was absolutely fantastic our waitress was brilliant and couldn’t do enough for us, The atmosphere was great the price we didn’t care because as I said it was worth every penny and we can’t wait to go Back. Thank you Tavern on the Green for making our evening magical,

If you think this is special, think again. We had been looking forward to dining here for almost a year. We used to live in New York, and as we loved this place, we booked from the U.K. for our grandson’s birthday. That was some years ago. Now, the food is really ordinary, the tables cramped and the prices high for the quality offered. I wish someone had written the review I am writing now so I could have known to avoid this place. Apart from it being utterly ordinary with prawns so cold they had no flavour and birthday cake so sweet that it was inedible, we asked for a cab and were told to go out onto the road and flag one down. We spent five to ten minutes in the cold before securing one. Is ‘the experience’ of the Tavern on the Green worth the price we paid? Not at all! We have frequently spent less than half the amount for the same quality of food in Manhattan. So if, as a tourist, you want to be ripped off, this is the place to go.

Food was mediocre. Service was slow. Waitress was nice until we pointed out errors on the bill. My husband ordered biscuits with gravy. A large dry biscuits arrived with a spoon of gravy. We ask for more and were charged $16 for a small bowl of gravy to even make the order edible. Good place to have a cocktail for the atmosphere but for the $ there are much better places to eat.

The restaurant setting is wonderful, service was excellent and the food delicious. We dined in the evening, and there was a live band playing on the outdoor patio.

Went for brunch at noon on Sunday with spouse. Very loud and cramped seating at two top table. Waited until after our food arrived to get coffee and iced tea. Entrees were not served hot at appetizing temperature and coffee was barely warm. Waited for drink refills way too long. Self serving male waiter then complained to us when he was not given great tip. It was embarrassing since it should have been obvious to him that the whole meal was lackluster service. Our brunch was $130 for only two entrees and a basket of bread.

Well we had the best Christmas day lunch here! The servers were run off their feet but somehow managed to ensure that the large number of guests were well cared for. The chefs ensured that every dish came out perfectly. Our server was well humoured and fun, portions were generous, and all in all we felt that this experience was fantastic value for money. It just happened to snow on Christmas eve, and the sun shone today. It couldn't have been more perfect. Thanks to everyone there for making a perfect Christmas for this family from England.

Dinner for two, I took the octopus, my husband took the chicken. Small portions, but tasty. The waitress brought us still water even though we wanted it sparkling. Overall nice atmosphere.

We came here for our anniversary and were pleasantly surprised by all of the thoughtful and well done details! Not only did they offer Gluten Free bread (which many restaurants do not), but it was homemade and the best I’ve ever had - freshly baked, with yummy grains. They had a Happy Anniversary card waiting for us on the table. And at the end they brought out a Tavern on the Green complementary box of truffle chocolates for us to take home. The food itself was amazing - I had a crab appetizer which was the best I’ve had, with chives and lemon. The main dish of scallops with black rice was very good as well. I was impressed by how quickly the next round of dishes came, there was very little waiting time. We so appreciated all the thoughtful touches, good gluten free food, and fast but quality service. Will definitely be coming back soon!

I was treated badly made to wait a personal hour rude redhead and the boy at the entrance two rude. They're bad.

My husband and I happened upon the Tavern 2 years ago and wanted to take our daughters (21 and 22) when we returned. We booked a late lunch and really enjoyed the food and service. It was such a relaxing and happy experience. I'd recommend the Cobb salad and the prawn salad.

After strolling through Central Park, we decided to stop for drinks and a snack in the beer garden of Tavern on the Green. We found seats quickly at the bar and enjoyed listening to the live music. The Provence rose by the glass was quite tasty and my husband enjoyed his frosty beers as well. The bar staff were kind and attentive and quickly changed his beer when they realized he wasn’t a fan of the taste. If you’re looking for a snack, don’t miss the gigantic hot pretzel and the plantain chips. A lovely place to relax in the sunshine.

The place is a beauty! it's in the middle of Central Park, it has meters very close as everything in NY, the service is perfect, and the food delicious.

Whenever we visit New York City, brunch at Tavern on the Green is an absolute must. From the moment you walk in, the service is impeccable; the staff consistently goes above and beyond, making you feel like a cherished guest. The quality of the food is superb, with dishes that are both fresh and flavorful—every bite feels like a celebration of the best seasonal ingredients. And then there’s the ambiance: nestled in Central Park, it’s like dining in a fairytale setting, with the lush greenery, elegant decor, and charming lights creating a truly unforgettable experience. It’s a brunch that defines our NYC trips, every single time.

Everything fits perfectly, but the underemployed three guys at the entrance can't even call you a taxi after horrendous consumption!! I'll think three times about whether I'll come back - after 24 years as a guest - on my next trip to New York... :-(

Like other reviewers, we had a reservation for next Saturday suddenly cancelled with no explanation. We had wanted go to Tavern on the Green for many years with our family. When we called for an explanation, we were told they were just overbooked. We made our reservation months ago. The general manager was supposed to return our call, and has not done so. Where to eat in mid-town on a Saturday night in December on a week’s notice? Pathetic.

Perfect place ind Central Park. Great service and food. Very quietly place and not far from the street…………………………………..

We reserve table for 4 for Thanksgiving’s dinner. You have to provide your credit card in case of a no show, which I totally understand. Now, this is how it goes when you show up on time. First, you come into a super crowded lobby. You check in with a hostess with an iPad that tells you “Yeah, we got down here. Please get in that line to get an estimate of the actual time you will be seated”. Then, 15 minutes later the other hostess (at the podium) tells you that the wait time is about 45 minutes. One hour later, we’re told that our table is being cleaned and it should take only 5 minutes. Then, 20 minutes later, not 5, we’re finally seated. Total wait time 1 hour 20 minutes. We were not the exception. Everyone in that lobby waited at least 1 hour. Once seated in our lovely table, we were happy and he waitstaff were great. But then comes the food… first the soup was like when you prepare soup for 5 guests but 10 show up and you have to add water… so 1/5 for the soup. Then, the Foie Gras was good, so 4/5 for the Foie Gras. Then comes the turkey plate...I have had better turkey and sides at the company cafeteria, so 1/5 for the turkey. Then the desserts were on the average side, so I would give them 3/5. We ordered a Magnum of Faust 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, which was reasonably priced, but they don't seem to have a wine cellar and the wine temperature was on the warmer side, but we made the best out of it and enjoyed it. In summary, we spent $1,170 ($145 at the bar and the rest at the table) for a terrible experience and probably one of the worst meals we had in years (see photos of receipts) Given that this place is a landmark in NYC, I suggest that you come here for lunch or brunch. The place is beautiful and it's worth visiting at least once. But... DO NOT COME HERE FOR THANKSGIVING'S DINNER!

One of my favorite places in NYC. I celebrated my bithday there this year in Feb, and the food and service were exceptional like always.

We booked a table here a couple of weeks in advance and we had a lovely table in the conservatory. The food was delicious and the portions were huge

Tavern on the Green is truly an experience. The ambience is relaxed and calm and staff was incredibly attentive and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious and worth every penny. Highly recommend if you’re in the area.

We went in around lunchtime on a walk through Central Park during our holiday. We sat outside where there is a separate bar. A little pricey but to be expected given the location. It’s a lovely place and would definitely go back.

Our dinner booking was for a 'special' birthday - we arrived at the time we had booked. The lobby was small, very crowded and close to where the band/singer was performing, a few people were also dancing. We were standing around for 25 minutes before a table was free. There were a great number of staff running about but it was at least 10 minutes before a waiter came to our table to ask if we would like to order drinks! We asked to order dinner, before ordering drinks. Food was OK, but nothing special. The restaurant was busy, but service was slow. There were a lot of groups dining, it didn't really seem suited to couples. A strange atmosphere - I felt like I'd gone back 50 years. Very disappointing and expensive.

I called early and asked to speak to a manager because my son has food allergies and I wasn’t sure if we could go there. He told me he appreciated that i called in advance. We went through the menu together and he put me on hold to confirm with the chef that we were good to go. We made the reservation and headed over. The patio was lovely and we ordered or food as soon as we sat down. We were given a round of drinks and about 45 minutes later the server came back to tell us they were wrong and actually the meal they suggested on the call with the mgr and chef would not work for my son. What a complete waste of time and cab fare to get there. The inside is unbearable loud so make sure you reserve outside.

I don’t see a listing for the Tavern To Go counter just outside of the restaurant. I had an iced tea and grilled cheese sandwich that was out in a gorgeous Tavern on the Green to go bag. The staff at the counter were very nice and they kept the seating areas very clean too. I loved hearing the employees greet their regulars and seeing people come up to get an iced tea to take a break while walking their dog. The sandwich was very nice as well but really it was the whole atmosphere of this sweet little green corner that I loved.

Nice location in the park. Sat outside in the garden under the lights. The salmon was deliciously not dry. Service was fine.

The place has a very pleasant vintage aura. The rooms are very nice and bright. The dishes served are pleasant and the staff very professional and prepared. The outdoor space is very well maintained. Prices in average New York. Approved.

Amazing location only to be surpassed by the service and food. The indoor atrium for eating was extremely nice and I would highly recommend reserving a table here, especially on a sunny warm day outside.

Great food, service and ambience. As a solo visitor, I was made to feel as special as a group of 10! Highly recommended to visit.

This is a legendary venue in Manhattan. Its location in Central Park and design add a lot to your visit. The staff handled the crowd well, but the space was totally overloaded by the number of guests. Standing room only and tight at that. The drinks and food were decent and served by roaming staff for tasty bits. The buffet tables had many choices, all worthy of the visit.

Beautiful location and delicious food! The lobster roll was so good and light. Make reservations to get a special welcome message on your birthday!

A few friends and I brought our teenage sons to NYC for the weekend. We wanted to have a nice dinner at an iconic restaurant. The Tavern was the perfect place to dine after our horse carriage tour of Central Park. We arrived before our reservation and enjoyed a before dinner drink at the outside bar. We have family that live in the city that were able to join us for dinner. Our party quickly grew to 12. The staff was very accomodating and we didn't mind waiting a few extra minutes so they could seat everyone together. Food and serve was excellent. Our server, Hector was on point and helped with the food selection for a picky eater. Excellent experience for first timers. Only suggestions would be to have more seating outside for patrons that are eating/drinking so they can relax and enjoy the views of the park. We had to stand for over 30 minutes as there were no seats available at either bar.

The food was over priced and not with it. Every entree our group ordered tasted like cardboard. The only thing that was actually good was the French onion soup. That said, they did decorate for the holidays and it was really pretty.

This was an 2& Anniversary brunch! A huge thank you to the Staff for all the well wishes and the Management team for the lovely Anniversary Card!!! Food was great as well as the atmosphere . Thank you!!! We will be back again! Chris and Andy

Chosen to celebrate our anniversary (25*) for lunch. We find a greeting card on our table...👏☺️. Very kind and professional staff. Fantastic location even if it opens up to more at dinner (due to the windows). Very good dishes. Offer us Virne a dessert from the chef as a wish. Thank you so much 👏👏👏👍👍👍

Really lovely decorated for Christmas, if in the area after a stroll through the park would definitely recommend stopping for food. The food was reasonably priced, service excellent and the servers extremely polite and attentive. While the menu is not mind blowing it is excellent at what it does but what makes its magical is the atmosphere it almost feels like your an extra in a Christmas American movie.

Tavern on the Green is a classic New York experience and I'm never disappointed there. My family and I had another wonderful dinner recently. The scallops were the standout dish. I highly recommend making a reservation if you're coming for a special occasion.

Danke Schoen! Tavern on the Green lived up to all the hype that my small-town mind had built up. Wonderful lunch on the outdoor patio on a crisp fall afternoon! Highly recommend!

Excellent meal !! The trout is delicious, the service is excellent and very attentive. I still recommend the steak sandwich and the asparagus starter, ugh!!

Great restaurant. Nice place, good food and good service. Just about 50 meters inside Central Park. Acceptable values for New York.

Not as good as I had hoped for to be honest Food in NYC, as hit or miss on this occasion. But there where some exceptions. But On the Park wasn't one of them. 😕

Nice place but welcome, reception and unkind service. No tables available outside while 60% of the tables were free. So they wanted to put us inside. Certainly we were in French tourist basketball mode which did not suit the standing of the restaurant. It doesn’t matter, we will spend our money and give tips to other more welcoming restaurants. Good continuation

We had brunch on New Year’s Day and enjoyed the set menu. This is a beautiful restaurant and our waiter Abraham was friendly and personable. The gift store is also worth checking out.

I always enjoy this space, the dining or the lounge. The dining side is a must at least once though. It's so bright and cheery with the window-side being a whole wall. The service was just ok, there were things added to our bill by mistake but the food was amazing. I had the salmon and lentils as usual and walked away quite happy and nourished. It's a good idea to make reservations though it isn't always needed.

The food was amazing. The service was amazing. However the tables are extremely close together and as a result it is extremely loud

This place never disappoints again it’s our go to for lunch at the bar if you wanted a table I would recommend to book but bar is first come first serve bar food is amazing recommend the shrimp cocktail and short rib sandwich

I mostly leave reviews for restaurants that show the show. But this restaurant impressed me so much that I decided to share my memories about it. I visited it for the first time with my wife in February 1995. The restaurant was beautiful, the food was good, and the yard was beautiful. In the yard, all the trees were decorated with garlands of light and New York jazz was playing. After arriving in many American films I noticed this restaurant. I liked it so much that when I came to the USA in 2011, I wanted to visit it again. But then it was closed for renovations. But I still had this desire. Therefore, on their next trip to the USA, they decided to spend their anniversary here with their children and friends. The restaurant, its interior and courtyard were again beautiful, the food was very tasty, and the employees were professionally responsive and polite. Therefore, I thank the workers of this restaurant for the holiday arranged for us. Well done!!!

I was excited to surprise my sister with a dinner at TOG for her 60th birthday. I booked it a month in advance on Open Table and called to confirm. I informed them that this was a special birthday and that three siblings were coming to NYC for this surprise dinner. I requested consideration of a good table and the telephone receptionist was very supportive and helpful Which also resulted in ordering a specially made birthday cake. Fast forward, this Saturday, a week before our dinner, I received a note from Open table canceling our reservation! I called the restaurant and spoke with the reservation receptionist who understood my concerns - she told me there was an error with open table’s booking system and they are overbooked and had to cancel some of the reservations. I reminded her about the special nature of mine, how long in advance I booked it and the cake order! She understood the concerns and knew that I could not simply reschedule. A 60th surprise birthday and family flying in to NY for this dinner didn’t allow us flexibility. She said she would speak with the manager and he - Peter - would return my call. He didn’t, four calls made by me, one by my brother-in-law, and an email later, now on Monday, not one word. I now have to scramble to find another restaurant for 8 people at Christmas time in NYC! Tavern on the Green’s manager has not had the decency to return my email or calls. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. Tavern on the Green, a historic landmark restaurant, should stand taller in customer services skills than what I have experienced.

An excellent lunch option while visiting Central Park in New York. We visited on a stunningly sunny October day and sat outdoors. Great service (a former Shakespearean actress we found out) and the food was good quality including Salmon Burger and Grilled Trout. Recommended

I’m afraid this venerable establishment is all reputation, but only modest execution. The shaved prime rib sandwich with provolone and caramelized onions was massive, but it was bland (think: Arby’s). Creamed spinach side was, well, adequate. Shoestring fries were excellent. But why rave about the acclaimed Tavern on the Green because of french fries? Bar cocktails were quite good, though. Tavern has a nice setting and wait staff, but let’s be honest: It’s a pretty but overpriced concession stand for Central Park tourists. You have been advised.

We had excellent customer service above & beyond whilst visiting central park , the staff in the coffee shop were so kind to go out there way to help us have a nice latte even before they were ready to open , thankyou ladys!

Reserved table in the Crystal Room for a 10am brunch. Beautiful sunny day in this iconic restaurant. Enjoyed the pastry basket with bottomless cup of coffee-topped up numerous times by our attentive and pleasant server Plato. Perfectly cooked poached eggs on the Eggs Benedict.

I booked dinner for my family for Christmas Day and was really looking forward to it, however it was a major disappointment and I will not be recommending to my friends. Upon arrival at approx 5.15pm I advised the lady on the front desk we had a reservation at 6pm, but would like a drink in the bar beforehand to soak up the Christmas atmosphere. I was told this wouldn’t be allowed as the bar was closing for an hour which I found ludicrous. I was told I could have a look in the gift shop for 45mins. We went to sit outside to look at the Christmas tree and low and behold the bar was open and serving! When we got to our table we were so tightly packed in you felt you was practically sitting with the guests on the table beside you. The biggest disappointment was the food, which was bland dry and luke warm. My biggest annoyance was the main for the kids menu, it was macaroni cheese that looked like slop on a plate. I’ve had better microwave meals. To top it off our desert had a hair in it. I’ve had better fast food to be honest, to top it all when you are passed a bill of over $500 for complete crap you realise this place is a con.

The atmosphere was festive and fun. The food was excellent - nice selections and generous portions, carefully prepared. It was very busy and a little cramped, but staff were highly attentive. Their great reputation is well deserved.

We stopped in this place adjacent to Central Park after a day spent exploring the park and visiting the natural history museum, with two little girls who needed a pit stop. We only had a beer, but we were able to notice a comfortable and welcoming environment with many options and good service. Prices in line with the city.

We visited on Thanksgiving Day for dinner, having been on a waiting list to snag a table! Lucky us! Tavern on the Green is lovely, and looked very festive. The staff were all really friendly, especially considering how busy the place was. The food was delicious. A beautiful set menu from which we chose the turkey of course! Huge portions, and beautifully cooked. A really nice experience all round. My one complaint, and why only marked 4 instead of 5, was because of how busy it was. I found it difficult to relax and enjoy our meal because there were constantly crowds of people surrounding us. Waiting for tables, at the bar, finished with tables and milling around, and walk ins, when we had been specifically told that walk ins would not be available. It felt very crowded (overly so) and so loud it was almost impossible to have a normal level conversation with dining partners. I'd go back another time for sure, but definitely I'd avoid holiday periods!

We got married in Central Park and walked to The Tavern on the Green for lunch afterwards. There was just 4 of us. The service was excellent...very attentive, the sun shone through the glass conservatory where we were seated, the food was lovely, and we are so glad we chose this location for our wedding day meal. Thanks for making us feel special! Would highly recommend.

Outstanding experience. Great restaurants are easily identified by the quality of the staff. The people we experienced were top drawer, friendly, knowledgeable, and made the visit an easy 5. The food was excellent and delivered flawlessly. Not an inexpensive by any stretch of the imagination but for a special occasion, to experience this iconic place was well worth it. A special shout out to our server, Macy, whose friendliness, attention, and willingness to actually engage us as people and not just customers was the icing on the cake. Glad I don’t live close, I’d go broke.

My wife and I thought we’d give it a shot for her birthday for a laugh. Honestly one of the worst meals I’ve ever had in my life. Service was decent but chaotic. Many groups of tourists with children on iPads. The food was unforgivable for the prices. Bland, tasteless, lukewarm. Had to be sent back. The chopped veggie tasted like something you’d buy at 11PM from Duane Reade. $300 down the drain.

This is the first time we had a meal at Tavern on the Green since it re-open. We hosted a client and his wife in from the mid-west. The decor is absoluetly splendid with glass walls to show the Park and light colored furniture. But the food selection and quality was terrible. I order steak 'n' eggs medium rare. The chef microvaved the steak!! They under cooked the eggs! My wife's salad looked like a Denny's reject. The chicken was microwaved and rubbery. My client's lobster roll was far too mayonaise filled. The service was even worse. We had to ask for items such as the $17.00 pastry plate (under whelming), ice and more coffee several times. We were told that the regular meals were much better. We won't be taking the chance.

What a wonderful Saturday brunch! It was very hard to decide what to order, so a friend and I shared the eggs Benedict and the strawberry French toast which was quite unique. It’s not one of those super sweet syrupy things. I felt good eating it even though I would love to lose some weight, It is something a little more dense than angel food cake, but not bread. Our waiter, Plato, was exceptionally attentive and had a fantastic backup group making sure we had plenty of water and coffee, clean plates and silverware as we changed from one dish to the next. The drinks and dessert were also amazing. It was a fantastic experience overall. If I get back to New York I would definitely plan to dine there again!!

The location of the restaurant is perfect, the outdoor seating with the fairy lights is magical. On setting and location, it is 10/10. Our server was great, very friendly and knowledgeable with questions on the menu. The food was average, nothing special and overpriced. The burrata & tomato starter was a dish of grilled tomatoes with a ball of burrata placed on top with 2 tiny pieces of bread on the side. I expected more elegance and refinement, but it was something I could make myself in a few minutes - and not overly tasty. The chicken dish was nice, but again nothing better than home cooked food. I would return here for drinks only, not food as I don’t think it was worth it.

I was fortunate to be staying in New York close to Central Park. This meant that visiting the park was really easy for me. There is so much to explore there but I would definitely recommend a visit to Tavern on the Green to get something to eat or drink. I visited in the morning to get my caffiene fix and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. Even first thing in the morning the place was busy with people coming and going and also sitting about relaxing and catching up with others. Very welcoming in a beautiful location.

Finally a good and real meal in NY If, like us, you are tired of eating oil, come here. Acceptable price compared to junk food prices. The setting is super nice, impeccable service

After visiting another NYC iconic restaurant yesterday, we had little hopes for how well this meal would turn out for us. Thank GOD this was completely unlike RTR!!! There are not enough words of praise for this TRULY iconic restaurant! The gorgeous scenery, its ebullient atmosphere, the attentive staff, THE FOOD…oh my goodness, THE FOOD…nothing short of immaculate perfection! We were absolutely enthralled from start to finish. This place is special. Just like an icon should be. Well done!

We were in town for a 1/2 Marathon in Central Park. We happen to make lunch reservations at Tavern, for St Patrick's day without realizing it was a holiday and without realizing there was a big parade that day. (We were more focused on the race and didn't realize it was St Pats day) So we were Promptly sat at a table (we were sat near the glass was overlooking the court yard, which was pretty, but even though it was cold outside, the glass windows/walls made it hot where we sat. Beyond that the meal and drinks were great, and the service was great. BONUS !!!! It just so happened that traditionally the NYC Bag Pipe brigade came into to eat for their annual luncheon, and performed several bag pie songs in full costume for the restaurant patrons and staff, It was so great and fun. We'll never forget this trip and this restaurant. Awesome.

Had a 7pm reservation and was seated immediately. Host/hostess staff were friendly and welcoming. Venue decor is impressive, both the feel of the bar, and the atmosphere of the dining rooms. Many tables have a view of the park. Immediately upon being seated the server was condescending, however we overlooked it and placed our drink and food order. As it was just my teenage daughter and I, our order wasn't large and I could tell our server was annoyed. We finished our drinks and entrees never seeing our server again, despite seeing him provide proactive recurring service to tables around us. The manager passed by and we mentioned the issue that we hadn't seen our server in greater than 30 minutes and asked for our check. The manager was extremely apologetic and offered a dessert, which we declined and simply asked for our check. They insisted on leaving us a "happy birthday" dessert and a beer, very kind.. the server brought our check, never apologized for terrible service and left. We ordered the short rib and salmon, both were very good. I would have loved to order a second drink however never had the chance. Overall the venue is terrific, the food is good, and the table service terrible (excluding bus boys who were hustling).

Went for a special Christmas dinner while visiting NYC, the best part of the dinner was the ambiance. A table for two and we were automatically charged a 20% gratuity 😠. The bread was horrible, my meal was average. My husband had to send his main course back as it was served cold and blue rare, his desert was inedible so that went back as well ☹️ We were so excited to get reservations here and we were incredibly disappointed , we won’t recommend this place to anyone!

My wife and I visited Tavern on the Green while celebrating a special occasion on our recent trip from Ireland to New York, and it was absolutely memorable from start to finish. The service was outstanding, a special mention to Macy, who looked after us so well. We were made to feel genuinely welcome, and the entire team were attentive, friendly, and professional without ever being overbearing. The food was beautiful, and the setting was something else. The festive decorations were absolutely class and really added to the magic of the evening, especially in such an iconic Central Park location. An unforgettable experience and one we’ll always associate with a very special trip. We truly hope to return someday. Highly recommended.

Taking a tip from a colleague in Ireland, we were not disappointed in our visit to Tavern on the Green. We made reservations at 9:00AM Sunday just the day before. We were well greeted and seated right on time. As just the second party to be seated, we were give a nice table overlooking the courtyard and while it was raining, the view was nice. The waitress was very friendly and took care of our every need. My wife ordered the crab cake burger special and I ordered the French Toast. Both were fantastic. The decor was amazing and all the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful.

This was a theatre travel group from St Louis. There were 18 of us for dinner and the other 18 were there for brunch. We had a fixed menu with 3 appetizers, 4 entrees and 3 deserts. Tavern on the green is world famous restaurant located in Centeal Park. The grounds and restaurant are grounds and restaurant were exceptionally decorated for the holiday season. Drink orders were taken and delivered without wait or issues. My wife had baby mixed greens, Scottish salmon chocolate lava cake. She thought all were outstanding. I had the roasted garlic shrimp, seared filet and NY cheesecake with berries. We thought everything we had was excellent. We also heard very good comments on the corn chowder and the roasted chicken. If you can arrange you should fine here. It is worth the experience

We always plan a visit to Tavern on the Green whenever visiting NYC, and it never disappoints. The waitstaff always provides excellent service, the menu is eclectic enough to suit anyone's taste, the food is excellent, and the atmosphere and setting superb. Our meal started with honey roasted figs (with goat cheese and cured beef) then rolled into trout entrees, and finished with caramelized apple tarts (satisfied smiles) for dessert. Of course, no visit to restaurant is complete without an after meal walk in Central Park.

The service was amazing. The hostess ushered us to a table of our choice in the dining area. The music made the ambiance all the more pleasant and peaceful. Our waiter was friendly and attentive to our needs. The food was delicious, although we had to order bar food because the restaurant menu was too pricey. Overall, I highly recommend Tavern on the Green. I have been there other times in the lounge area. The live Jazz band they have on stage is simply phenomenal.

My niece was scheduled to sing at Carnegie Hall, so I thought a nice dinner before at Tavern on the Green for the whole family would be a great way to start the evening. I checked with all the family planning on attending, and came to a head count of 10 for the evening and made a reservation for 10 for 6PM just before the 8:30PM start time at Carnegie Hall. All good and no problems making the reservation (although it did require a credit card to make the reservation). My cousin called me 2 days before the date of the reservation asking if she could bring a date to the dinner, bringing our count up to 11, I checked online and it said it was too late to change the reservation online and I had to call to make changes. So the next day (the day before the reservation), I called and asked to change the reservation to 11. The person I spoke with said no problem and made the change, and I received email confirmation my reservation was changed to 11, told my cousin and she went ahead purchased a ticket to the concert for her date as well. The next day, literally 3 hours before our reservation time I got a call from Tavern on the Green saying whoever I spoke with made a mistake and should not have allowed me to change the reservation to 11 without changing our reservation to a "large party" reservation which required a formal signed contract, prix fixe menu, and a seating time of 5 or 8PM. I was told basically I could change the reservation back to 10 (what would I do with the extra person?) or I'd have to sign the contract (where would I get a fax machine/scanner) and change the reservation to 5pm (how can I convince 10 other people to show up an hour earlier) or 8pm (too late for the concert), and go with the prix fixe menu). I finally convinced the host to let us keep the 6pm start time and agreed to cancel the rest of our sightseeing plans for the afternoon, just so we could go sign a contract in person and go with the prix fixe menu. Literally the worst customer experience I've ever had with a restaurant. When it's your mistake (which it was since their host told me it was all set and no problem to increase to 11), you should just honor the reservation. Making me the bad guy and having to cancel all my plans to accommodate the restaurant by signing their contract (and remember they already had my credit card), is just terrible customer service. Since it was too late to find another restaurant, I agreed to all their terms, including the prix fixe menu. Overall, everyone agreed the filet mignon was just ok, not great, but the salmon was better, and of course we didn't have a choice to choose anything else except the vegetarian option. Management here needs to take a course in customer service. Sad since I really liked this restaurant, and one of the reasons I chose it for this special occasion for my niece's concert.

We are a family that has extensively traveled across Europe and Africa. We have never received such bad service, such a bad attitude from staff and such absolute ridiculous rules and regulations.

Very good. Good food. In the heart of Central Park. Definitely worth a visit. It's not cheap, but the cost benefit is worth it. Excellent dessert. Top meat and fish. I recommend you go to the CP and have lunch at the Tavern. Distinguished restaurant in a unique place

We stopped by Tavern on the Green for a coffee and cake. We sat in the bar area which was beautiful. The area had a lovely cosy atmosphere, we felt very welcomed and weren't rushed. Staff were friendly and polite. Would recommend and definitely visit again.

After a central park tour, our carriage driver let us off at Tavern on the Green for our dinner reservation. Such a pretty place, tucked in the park off the main street. Even in the dead of winter it was lovely. The staff were super accommodating when we arrived ahead of our reserved time. The menu was broad, with plenty of gluten-free options for me. Service was impeccable. As it got dark, the lights lowered somewhat, which accentuated the lights in the garden patio outside the huge glass windows. Altogether a charming, relaxing experience!

Wow, this was one of the best meals of our trip to NYC and the ambience was spectacular. Our friends made the reservation and I thought this would be a pub. It's actually more of an upscale restaurant vibe, with some people wearing summer suits and sundresses. (Thankfully, we were fine in shorts and t-shirts.) There were good menu options for me as a lacto-ovo vegetarian. We especially enjoyed sitting on the patio. There was live music, the sun was shining, and as we looked up through the trees, we could see some of the buildings surrounding the park.

We had a wonderful Saturday morning brunch. The service was impeccable, and our food was delicious. The yogurt parfait was to die for. Beautiful restaurant in a beautiful setting.

Beautiful restaurant set in a stunning surrounding. Staff are so attentive and the food and drink was amazing. The Bloody Mary's are awesome! Highly recommend the Brunch at the weekend.

A espetacular place with fantastic and dedicated personnel since the reception. The place is simply unforgettable for its indoor beauty and elegance. Perfect menu. I strongly recommend it.

I found the place of an unusual delicacy... The receptionist asked us if we wanted a table inside or outside, we chose the table inside. The service was super cordial, from the entrance to the attendant. We had made a Reservation to celebrate our wedding anniversary, we won a beautiful card and truffle box. The food was super tasty, sensational wines and dessert tb... And the place is a charm.

We did a Central Park Ride tour and ended up eating dinner here. What a day. The restaurant us very nice. The food was really good.

I agree with other diners who reviews for thanksgiving dinner. What a disaster. Our reservation was at 4:45, so we only waited 30 minutes, but when seated our table was in the very crowded bar. Soup was watery, flavorless and lukewarm. Appetizer plate of foie gras looked like it was plated by a 2nd grader and the foie gras was bland, Taoist points were cold and soggy. Dinner was served on an oval plate with all food bunched together, no gravy, jus worse than any cheap cafeteria food I’ve ever seen or tasted. Bread pudding for dessert was dry and sauce was cold and scarce. Our server was trying, but very rushed and poorly trained. I understand that it is difficult to pull off a lovely Thanksgiving experience when you are serving 2000 people, but at $175 per person, I truly expected more from this “iconic” restaurant. Seems like they are happy to screw over the tourists who will only eat there once and never be back…at least we were there early, the crowd in the lobby when we were leaving was thicker than the sidewalks at the parade and rightly so, an angry mob!

My wife and I were in NYC and wanted to have a special dinner on Christmas Day. I went online to their website and it said they were all booked up, but taking names for a waiting list. I sent them an email about 10AM, asking to be on their waiting list. I received an email back just 5 minutes later from Morgan, say they had a table for us. TOTG is located right in Central Park on the West side near 67th St. we were staying at an apartment on 50th St, so it was an easy walk over. On this day they only had a Prix Fixe menu, meaning there were 4 set courses, but on three of them we had a choice of two. This menu was quite pricey at $135 each and that did not include drinks, tax or tip. By the time we were finished our bill was $425 with a set gratuity. Our table location was not the best being right next to their highest traffic area, for those bussing dishes, servers carrying large trays of food and bar staff with trays of drinks. Thankfully, nothing spilled on us. However, two people at the table next to us asked to be moved because they were not comfortable with the excessive foot traffic. The drinks and food were good, though the food portions were a bit small. Our server Emma, was very nice to us and she had a pleasant personality and demeanor. This is a beautiful restaurant which a century ago was a sheep barn for grazing sheep in the park. As you enter the restaurant, there is a gift shop on the left. Good place to peruse if you have a long wait for a table.

The location is outstanding! Right in Central park its gorgeous! The food is very good and the service was great too. Shout out to Jeremy for the great service!

Fab location for a special treat. It’s not cheap but it’s worth it for the experience. Surroundings were beautiful and food was delicious.

My wife and I popped in here for lunch (we had a reservation, of course) over Thanksgiving Break. This restaurant is always a delight from the service to the ambiance to the delicious food and drink. I had the roasted figs salad; my wife had the steak sandwich. Naturally, we shared our dishes and enjoyed our drinks--a peach Bellini and Perpetual IPA. Our server (Khalid 3) took great care of us.

Out family of eight had dinner at Tavern on the Green to celebrate our son's marriage after a small private ceremony in the Park. The restaurant did not disappoint! We had a reservation and were seated promptly. The food was fabulous, and the service outstanding. Our waiter (shown as "Cooper" on the receipt) couldn't have been nicer. With dessert, they even presented a dessert plate with "Just Married" drizzled onto the plate, which we hadn't requested but was a sweet gesture for the newlyweds. With dinner and a nice bottle of champagne the cost was about as expected, and totally worth it! Worth noting: they offered a children's menu (we had a young flower girl and ring bearer with us) and Tavern rules did not disallow the children' menu items by table assignment. (Unlike the nearby Central Park Boathouse, which only offers children selections in their inside dining room without a view of the lake). We had a wonderful time; very grateful for this memorable evening.

Visited this legendary NY landmark with family while in the Big Apple. The service and food was good but nothing to write home to mother about. We thought the setting would be intimate, refined and elegant but, sadly, not so. The Noise level in the main glassed-in dining enclosure was so deafening that we (and the waitress) had to literally shout to attempt talking to each other...if you desire soft, easy listening & conversation, this is Not the place for you. Now, for the food: We had the Honey Roasted Figs (delish), Veggie Burgers (hearty & tasty), Tavern French Toast (yum), Tavern Burger (meaty, tasty), Baked Vegetable Fritatta and Grilled Chicken Salad. All in all, the food was good but the ambiance (or lack thereof) drove us crazy. The absolute best part of our Tavern on the Green experience was, by far, riding the carrousel nearby in Central Park : )

Amazing holiday thanks to the impeccable service, food, and decor! We celebrated Thanksgiving and this wonderful experience will be hard to beat! The service was flawless and our server Constantine was so friendly and gracious. Her smile was very welcoming and made our experience even better! The food menu and choices were fantastic as there was something for everyone including a traditional option. The decor made us feel like we were in a holiday movie, cozy and just the right amount of seasonal decor. I highly recommend and we look forward to returning!

Beautiful ambience. Sitting in a Beautiful glass enclosed area looking out at the park. Food is good service is very good.

What a pinch me moment, just started to snow as we got there and the view from the conservatory is magical. The staff were so friendly and attentive, our waitress was lovely. The food was way better than I thought, I imagined I’d still be hungry when I left but had to have a breather every so often as the portion was so big. We had soup to start then I had chicken under a brick and my husband had a rack of lamb. Everything was absolutely delicious. It was my husbands birthday so he was given a card and a free piece of birthday cake which was lovely. Quite expensive but as a special treat it was worth every penny. An evening I will never forget and one of my top highlights of my trip to New York.

I always wanted to visit this iconic restaurant and was finally able to for Saturday brunch. We had a beautiful day to enjoy brunch outside on the scenic patio, but inside looked so pretty too. People were dressed more casually than I had anticipated but I am assuming perhaps because it was early on a Saturday (10:30am ) and people are coming after a jog or a bike ride in the park. Our service was perfect, multiple people checked in on us making sure everything was ok. We had salmon Benedict and breakfast pizza and confetti cake to celebrate my daughters birthday. Food ,service and ambiance exceeded my expectations. I was happy to see those enjoying the outside bar a place I would like to visit next time before my meal.

We thoroughly enjoyed our brunch at Tavern on the Green! We went without too many expectations, as we wanted to see where my husband's parents had their wedding. The restaurant itself is beautiful; our experience, food, and server (Emma) were GREAT! We sat in the glass room, which was nicely appointed, and the sun-filled room seemed to be magical. The breakfast pizza, chicken sandwich, profiteroles were hits with our group!!!

Located next to Central Park's Sheep Meadow you'll find this "back in time" tavern. Very picturesque ambience. The outside seating area is a great spot to have a pause and relax when you are in the beautiful Central Park!

Atmosphere is amazing. Love the conservatory greenhouse vibe with all the glass. The food was great. We ordered the fried chicken sandwich and the potato pancakes. The service was above average for New York. We Would highly Reccomend

Delicious food, great, friendly service! So happy to be there!!, fresh fish excellently prepared, great greens in the salad, wonderful wines. .Cheerful service and not rushed. It is the place to go when visiting NYC.

An amazingly, swanky, serene and elegant oasis on the edge of Central Park. If you are looking to escape the mad chaos of Times Square - Then visit ‘The Tavern on The Green’ We made a reservation one evening for dinner and were really impressed. The service was excellent. And food outstanding. Parae and her team made us feel so welcome and special. She is an incredible host with a fabulous smile and is intent on making your dining experience memorable. We would not hesitate to recommend the Tavern on the Green for brunch or dinner. check out the menu!

This restaurant was unbelievably busy and so noisy that myself and my wife could hardly have a conversation across the table. It reminded me of Macdonald's on a bad day. Food and wine were good and service ok although waiters seemed rushed off their feet. Overall an expensive but not very relaxing experience. Shame as we had high hopes after being given a recommendation.

The weekend brunch menu is not very varied, but the portions are generous and the food is delicious. The service at the bar is excellent.

When we headed to the Inn on the Tavern we were expecting a small bar/pub, however what we found was a bar and restaurant destination frequented by both visitors to Central Park and groups aware of the food and drink on offer. We were able to get two stools at 5he bar and from our lookout we were able to see some very delicious looking food being served. This was both small plates/snacks and full menu options. The bar was serving a wide range of drinks, including cocktails, bottles, drought ales and wine. If you are anywhere near I would recommend a visit.

We had high expectations for this place. Those expectations were not met. We experienced several fantastic meals while in NYC, this was not one of them. While the location and building was cool, the service was nothing to get exited about, nor was the food. It wasn't "bad", it was just okay. It's too bad, because there's a ton of history here. This was one of the first places on my list for our first trip to NYC. I see some glowing reviews on here, maybe we hit it on an off night... regardless, next trip we'll skip Tavern on the Green. Noisy, so-so service, and "okay" food. They need to up their game.

Lunch reservation, service good, mildly, because food took 45 minutes +. Fish and chips good but what you expect at any pub. Crab cocktail was inedible, doused in truffle oil so could not taste the crab. Really, a crab cocktail, simplest dish you can make. Don't destroy it.

Fourth time eating here while visiting. Never a disappointment. Plato our server was amazing and very accommodating. Great food and beverage selection.

Always wanted to try this landmark restaurant. It’s beautifully decorated fir Christmas. Our server was amazing actually all the staff were great. French onion soup was very good. But it made me full for the rest of our meal! Doors don’t open until 11 am. So everyone had to wait outside if you weren’t lucky to wait in hallway.

This was our second visit to Tavern on the Green and it did not disappoint! The first time was during the summer months when we could dine in the terrace however this time it was like stepping into a Christmas card. The restaurant and courtyard were decked out with beautiful trees and decorations. The service was first class with knowledge staff providing recommendations and alternative options for gluten free. During service staff never rushed or hurried and left time in between courses to enjoy the atmosphere within the restaurant! Food was fantastic! We will definitely be back! Another lovely surprise we discovered during the day was Tavern on the Green to Go which is located on the outside at the courtyard. There was a small seating area and we had some cocktails whilst enjoying the winter sun in Central Park.

This restaurant has been on my bucket list for a long time. Was seated outdoors. The vibe and crowd was so nice. Food is pricey but very good. We had a variety of things and everything was tasty. If you’ve never been, I highly recommend coming here at least once!

We booked way in advanced for Thanksgiving. Little did we know it would be the worst experience ever. They overbooked to the extent that we had to wait 1 hour and a half of our booking time. It was so packed that we had to wait in the freezing cold outside. people were getting angry and the atmosphere as a consequence of that was hostile. For example, the hosstesses were so overwhelmed that when some people said they were going elsewhere, they responded that they didn’t care. Very poorly organized. After all the wait, the food came out cold. It was so bland (no gravy for the turkey). I felt rushed in order for the next guests to come. I sincerely regret to have chosen The Tavern on the Green. We had so much expectations of this Thanksgiving, however, I can’t say it was. Very disappointing experience

Love this spot. Always heard about it but finally went. The atmosphere is great and the food was fantastic. We had Sunday brunch and the biscuit and gravy was amazing and the eggs Benedict was fantastic.

A huge surprise! We had a delicious lunch in a picturesque spot with top notch, friendly and attentive service. Loved our hamburgers and the chopped green salad was refreshing on a very hot day.

Had a fabulous meal. The steak just melted in your mouth and the scallops were beautifully cooked. Our vegetarian pasta dish was the best she ever tasted according to our granddaughter. Will definitely be coming again. This our fourth visit and definitely won’t be our last!!

We were here for my 40th and we revisited it 26 years later for my husband's birthday with our elder son (the younger was on a road trip the other side of the country). We sat outside in the lovely garden. We had starters and then lobster rolls but I think the son had much more! Only one issue, the son asked for another beer and after 15 mins we chased it up. It took another 15 mins to arrive!

We came from Australia for a Bucket List New York Christmas and had booked Tavern on the Green for Christmas Day lunch. This could have gone one of two ways - overpriced, gimmicky and touristy OR spectacular. It was spectacular. The food was fabulous (fixed menu), the service was fabulous, everything was very well organised for so many people. The atmosphere was magical, the decorations were perfect and the Christmas tree in the courtyard was stunning. TIP - if you want to book for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day book early! I booked in September, even before the website had opened up (usually in October) and by November they were fully booked for this period. Walking through Central Park on the way to Tavern on the Green for Christmas lunch was truly a dream of mine and it exceeded all of our expectations.

Was in the city for my birthday and this place was recommended by a friend. Made a reservation several weeks in advance. We had a tour scheduled for Central Park that morning and ended up finishing up sooner than expected. The restaurant was able to get us in about an hour early which was great! We sat outside on the patio and had excellent service. I had the French toast, and it was phenomenal! Highly recommend this unique place! They even included a Birthday Card on the table for me!

Jaime Rios was unbelievable as a floor manager. For my wife’s birthday he accommodated a change of table and to top it off a complementary dessert, a beautiful elegant birthday cake. Wow! well done Tavern on the Green. You got a great guy in Jaime Rios.

Tavern on the Green has been an icon in Central Park for ages. Except for a few years from 2009 - 2014 it’s been open for almost 100 years. It has several unique dining areas, including the Crystal Room which is my favorite and where we had brunch on Sunday. As usual, the service was stellar (Thank you, Christian!). The specialty drinks menu was extensive and the drinks delicious if not a bit strong. We started with a pastry basket that was served with whipped butter and jam. There was a nice selection of croissants, scones and muffins and was plenty for four ladies. Two of us had the soup of the day which was a butternut squash. Next we had the eggs benedict, the grilled chicken salad, the baked vegetable frittata and the sandwich of the day which was a fried chicken cutlet on a brioche bun. Everything was wonderful. We think our next visit may just be for an afternoon coffee or tea just so that we can try the desserts that looked amazing. All in all a lovely experience that felt extravagant while being quite reasonable.

How to ruin a birthday dinner dreamed of for months?? Booking in a “cult place” that actually deeply disappointed us. Supposed and unhelpful staff who bounced us from one waiter to another (just to have a place to sit since on arrival we had simply asked to be able to have a quieter table- which incidentally was specified when booking and not found on arrival!) .. In the end they “move us to the bar to prepare the table” and then... nothing! We waited 40 minutes (calling several times the staff passing by for explanations) and then we headed to the exit .. Icing on the cake: the matron at the exit greets us with a fake smile asking us if everything had gone well... we inform her that we were leaving without having eaten because tired of waiting .. she says “ok!” And it turns the other way... When the saying “all smoke and no roast” becomes literal! Never again...

The beautiful place as always! Lots of people at Sunday brunch, need to make a reservation on Sunday! Very nice jazz music, however slows down the food and service and nothing extraordinary the quality of the food...

Nice restaurant, very pleasant place. Outdoor tables. Too bad for the Service not up to the place, slow and not attentive to the customer. Normal food.

We came here for dinner on Friday at 5pm with our friends to celebrate my partners birthday. They had all been before but this was my first visit. Really beautiful looking restaurant. We had a nice table inside in the glazed dining room. Service was good. I ordered from the Restaurant week menu which was $60 for 3 courses and a bottle of wine for $35. I had goats cheese salad to start. Grilled Salmon for my main course and blueberry panacotta for desert. Everything was delicious, no complaints at all. They also gave my partner a birthday card and a big slice of birthday cake. It was a very nice evening and there was a piano player outside on the patio which added to the ambiance. Highly recommended.

Disgusting service disgusting coffee. We were served by 2 women speaking in their own language the whole time we were waiting to be served. They served from a hatch and were so rude! We had one sip of the only coffee they serve (white or black) and simply left. Far nicer bakery coffee shops on 9th avenue with lovely service, I.e. magnolia cafe. This place was a disgrace not to mention fifty table. Save your dollars for somewhere nicer. Even the coffee stall by statue nearby is lovely and great coffee.

Was there for birthday branch. Prices are a bit on the higher end and it has the yuppy feel to it. The food was top quality. I especially loved the eggs benedict and the French toast. Drink menue is longer than the food menue. The restaurant has outside section as well, but in the current summer heat, the inside is better. Probably would not go there, except for some celebratory occasion, yet the food was solid. Bang bang.

Went for brunch and sat outside, nice relaxing vibe, with good attentive service. Couldn't fault the food which was delicious, only one criticism was the plates could have been hotter as the meals didn't stay hot long enough. However it wouldn't stop me returning look forward to revisiting this lovely little find in Central Park.

Terrible experience. My reservation that I made well over a month in advanced was canceled by the restaurant with no explanation. Just canceled. It was for the weekend before Christmas and of course everything in the city is booked now. Thanks so much!! Merry Christmas to you too!

This was a great way to start our Sunday, at an iconic NYC restaurant in Central Park. The restaurant is very cozy, elegant, the service was attentive and the food very good. It was too chilly to eat outdoors, although I imagine in the right weather this would be a lovely place to dine outside. I would have loved to sit in the solarium area, but the restaurant was very full at 11am - we were seated along the banquette within view of the kitchen and the seating is fairly close to neighbouring tables, and we found ourselves speaking loudly to each other to be heard, although that was resolved when the table next to us got up. We started with a glass of prosecco, my friend had the tuna slider special and I had the steak and eggs, which was delicious. There is a little gift shop attached for souvenirs or cute little items, and one is given a Tavern on the Green postcard at the end of the meal. Overall, a very nice experience. I look forward to returning when the weather is warmer and we can sit outside on their nice terrace.

The bar area is beautifully decorated. The main dining room was hardly decorated. We decided this is because maybe they didn’t want to take away from the decorations outside. Our table for two was unfortunately next to a bus station that was frequently visited by staff. Our server, Clemen, was fantastic. The food was good but the pork was a little dry. The Boozy Eggnog cocktail was the highlight.

Beautiful environment, super good service, delicious food and with a perfect view... It is worth seeing!! Chicken was very soft!

We made a last-minute reservation and were seated in their patio area. Our service was quite slow, but this is not a complaint but a shout-out to our server Silvanna, who defined "grace under pressure." The patio area was quite busy, and we observed her managing a large group as well as some "needy" patrons in our vicinity. She apologized to us several times, and we assured her that we were fine. It was a beautiful afternoon to sit outside with a bottle of prosecco thanks to Silvanna.

Three of us had dinner on a busy Tuesday evening. Absolutely wonderful meals. Service excellent with friendly staff. One of the group was celebrating a birthday. She was given cake and ice cream after dinner. A sweet surprise. I had the brick roasted chicken with fresh green beans and mashed potatoes. Delicious. Another in our party was gluten free and she was accomodated, including offering gluten free rolls before dinner. She said her steak was perfect. Third friend ordered the ravioli and said it was delicious. Such a wonderful experience with great meals.

We were looking for a Sunday brunch. +: location in the heart of central Park. You can take a carriage out. Lots of New Yorkers. Few tourists. We ate very well. -: very noisy

Good, friendly, professional service; BUT very disappointing food for $1000 for family of 7 @ fixed price. 4 adults @ $145; 3 children@$65;+mandatory 20% gratuity. Adult: cauliflower soup good; wild mushroom gnocci poor; fig salad average; lobster risotto good; halibut average; tenderloin large serving but average; desserts very poor (bread pudding like a dense cupcake). Children menu serving were good size. Families with children apparently seated in the farthest room which is like a greenhouse--can be sunny. Definitely would not have the fixed price meals again. Not recommended.

Great outside terrace which was welcome on a hot day. The food was excellent and the server efficient and friendly. Enjoyed a very pleasant couple of hours here. It was expensive but worth it as we enjoyed a wonderful, memorable lunch.

After completing a pedi tour of Central Park, we decided to have lunch at Tavern on the green and it was absolutely worth it. The holiday decor was fantastic. The server the hostess everyone was very nice. We ordered the prime rib sandwich and truffle and Parmesan french fries that were absolutely delicious. We will be going back next time. We are in New York City.

Wow what an amazing restaurant. This really ended our visit to New York on a high note, fantastic staff and service can’t be bettered. The food was superb and choice of dishes excellent. I would recommend booking as it gets very busy everyday I booked online in the UK. Don’t expect to get a table otherwise. It is expensive but you get what you pay for.

The food was okay. The view of the patio was nice. The service was fine. But….if you want a quiet, maybe even romantic, dinner, don’t go on a Saturday night. There were rowdy parties in the dining room, with lots of shouting, whooping and loud talking. Not quite a frat party but close.

✨ An absolute favorite! My cocktail was delicious, perfectly balanced, and beautifully presented. I started with the tuna tartare: an original presentation that really stood out and an amazing sauce. For the main course, the cheese ravioli were served piping hot and absolutely delicious. On the server’s recommendation, I finished with the pineapple cheesecake… simply to die for 😍! Impeccable service, stunning setting. A solid 10/10, I’ll definitely be back!

Beautifully decorated for Christmas and had a very nice, warm and cozy feel! The service was fantastic and they really went above and beyond for our anniversary. The food was great as were the drinks. We would definitely recommend for a special dinner out!

I had such high hopes for a nice meal but was thoroughly disappointed. The lunch menu was unavailable, and almost everything about the brunch menu was terrible. We had one lovely waitress but the rest of the staff were overbearing and kept trying to get us to sign receipts with blank gratuities. One of the waiters even told my husband that they (the staff) fill in amount themselves!!! “Just sign here sir” …….. !!!! No Pietas. I will never be back and my bubble is burst!

We had pre booked for lunch pre visiting NYC and on the day we turned up they had health inspectors in …. We arrived and they said they had no idea how long this would take and told us we could wait in the outside gardens and have a drink which along with other guests we decided to do (as we had especially travelled here for a special lunch!) …. We managed to get a table and no one was serving at the tables so I queued for drinks at the bar … we were not impressed (I work in the service industry) … the least they could have done was to have given guests a complimentary drink and update them. We left after our drinks. We were not impressed and would not return on our next visit to Central Park.

We went here during Christmas week to see the decorations and eat lunch at the famous restaurant at the edge of Central Park. We had the chicken sandwich which was gig enormous and had way way too much chicken and also the French dip which was the same as anywhere else you get. The Christmas decorations were very festive and throughout the restaurant. The restaurant that appears to be small when you walk in the door has rooms that go on forever. Staffing must’ve been short because there was a fairly long, wait even though we had a reservation yet several of the back rooms had no customers or staff. Outdoor patio that was closed because it was cold, snowy and icy. They were lots of decorations that you could take photos of, but you had to take them to the glass because of the weather. If you’ve never eaten here, then it’s a good place to go just for the atmosphere and especially during the holiday season.

Wondurful place to enjoy central park. great staff. Eggs benny and a mimosa in a very classy environnement, Classic NYC. Will return

This review is based on a Sunday visit after the 2025 holiday season The experience was transforming to a place and time in the past giving credit to it’s history and experience making designs The menu is extensive and wonderful and the staff made sure everything was done just right They know hospitality and food A must for tourists and locals alike

What a great time we had at Tavern on the Green we went for lunch and had a window ire of the park. The creamed mushrooms are among the most delicious appetizer we have ever had. The special was trout. What a treat ! If only these walls could talk! What history in this building!

Unexpected delight! Ignore the rumors, this place is back with a bullet. The cuisine was scrumptious. Had 2 appetizers…Enjoyed the French onion soup with crostini and melted Gruyère and a rather large serving of pure Lump crab meat complimented by a lovely Sancerre. Our server Herbert was so unobtrusively helpful and timely. The Hostess checked on us twice with her lovely, deep elegant voice and mannerisms. What a great experience! All patrons looked relaxed, happy and truly enjoying themselves. Maybe chalk it up to the sunshine in Central Park during springtime - fantastic in every way!

After having spent the majority of the day travelling and looking forward to a good meal based on all the reviews…. the experience was disappointing with poor food quality lacking flavour, passion or taste. The “special” of the day, was so dismal I was unable to finish the dish. The fish was overcooked to the point it was completely dry and made cracking sounds in my mouth as I attempted to chew the food.

Visited Tavern on the green at Christmas, it was like something out of a hallmark movie. The decorations & lights were beautiful. They had a live singer & all the staff were friendly/attentive. The food was 10/10 - the Mac & Cheese is a must! Thanks
Birthday slice of cake!
I’ve always wanted to go here, we are in the tavern and since it was my birthday I ordered the slice of birthday cake and ice cream. It was amazing! Highly recommend it!
