Good Italian food!

We were staying opposite at the Ludlow Hotel and wanted somewhere local to eat. The food was excellent as was the service. The portions were generous and delicious.

Fabulous Food, lovely hosts and a beautiful atmosphere

By Esther K |

This restaurant is a real jem in lower manhattan. We spend three evenings for dinner in this great place. The food is absolutely delicious.I really loved the Linguine vongole. My Family had the Spaghetti with Meatballs and they are very happy with this, The garlic bread and de Bruschetta are also very, very good. We tried some of the daily specials too and loved it. The chef and owner of this place gives a lot of fresh prepared dishes. So now about the desserts. Its heavenly...my favorite is the Panna Cotta and the price winning Chocolate and Formaggio dessert. Try it! The lovely host and the chef and all the employees gave us the feeling like being at home. This restaurant is maybe the best Italien restaurant outside of Italy...and we know a lot of Italien restaurants....Thanks to all the team at Taverna di Bacco. Greetings from Switzerland !

Unique and Wonderful

By Amy_Lou_0407 |

This restaurant is perfectly Italian with the most amazing staff. The food is incredible. If you want authentic Italian cuisine in NYC, this is your best choice! I can highly recommend any of the pasta with a tomato sauce base, especially the meatballs. Everything is fresh and homemade. We came here for cocktails last night as well which were very good - we ended up quite merry! Highly recommend that you visit here at your next opportunity! 🇮🇹❤️

Ask for the patio!

By skmtravel |

I began writing in July 2018: Enjoyed family dinner in their patio which is wonderful on a pleasant summer evening. Very nice food and great service from Chris who is such a nice young man. We will be back soon. June 2019: We enjoyed another wonderful evening, again seated in the patio on a beautiful evening. Great pasta and burrata. Chef Maurizio is a warm host, and our server Jean Claude was so cheerful and energetic. Want to go back and try their tasting menu, I’m sure that will be a really enjoyable experience.

Great Italian Food!

By KarenM1_10 |

We ate here twice during our trip to New York. We ordered the Bruschette as an appetizer and for our entrees we ordered the Fusilli, Spaghetti, Paccheri, Chicken Alla Parmigiana, Pollo and a couple of daily specials. Everything was very good both times. For dessert we ordered the Delizia Di Cioccolato, Torta Di Mele and Black Widow. The first time we came the service was a little slow but the second time everything was perfect. Our waiter the Jean Claude and he was wonderful.

Welcoming staff, on the phone and in person. more than your typical pasta joint.

By MetroJersey |

The receptionist on the phone handled the late change of the time of our reservations with ease on this busy Sat night All the staff we met were both attentive and very friendly. Caesar salad was satisfying and the Pappardelle with vegetables was exceptional. So satiated, no one could order dessert. A place to return to.

Wonderful food & great staff - highly recommend

We enjoyed a super meal here - something for all the family even the young kids. The staff were super attentive and the owner was at hand to offer assistance. Would highly recommend if your in the area!

Friendly non-intrusive service and amazing satisfying food!

By Hafiz W |

We had one of the most satisfying amazing meals ...ever!!! We are foodies and have been to many Michelin starred restaurants in the US and Europe. If you are looking for simple, clean, scrumptious, amazing and delicious Italian food in NYC, this is the place! The service is second to none. The owner, Maritio, and Samia, are best hosts ever! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!

Best Italian meal! We were staying close by in the hotel indigo. This was a fabulous restaurant- food was delicious and you could tell the chef enjoyed entertaining and cooking. Best meal of our entire trip! Service was excellent from start to finish. Worth a visit!!

Great atmosphere

By Thomas Russ A |

Quite busy around lunch time, but great atmosphere with a mix of salsa and 80's pop music. Food was amazing 👍👍👍

Neighborhood gem

By Kathleen_Dunn |

A NY friend told me about this restaurant in the east village - suggested it for a group of 8 of us - my big, Italian family. The food is sublime - truly authentic Italian. The meatballs were unbelievable - we practically licked the plate. I have never had such light and flavorful gnocchi - not even my grandma produced gnocchi of this quality. The atmosphere was perfect - a cozy, rustic restaurant with an attentive wait staff. My Italian born cousins were impressed and can't wait to go back. And we couldn't believe the check. We drank several bottles of excellent Tuscan wine, had appetizers, entrees, dessert and espresso - and the bill was under $500. And after dinner we enjoyed a leisurely walk in the lively, interesting neighborhood. This is my new favorite restaurant.

Very friendly

By Faysie46 |

We went here for my birthday, I picked it because I love Italian and I was not disappointed...I had the pork belly which although a little oily was absolutely delicious. We were greeted at the door by the owner who also was the chef...he had a chat and his wife also came over and talked to us...they were absolutely delightful and we had a wonderful evening...nothing was too much trouble....definitely thumbs up and bouquets!!

Perfekt service and good food

By ivanthiim |

Very service minded staff. Dishes are European size (not too Big) and Well prepared. Carabonara was tastefull.

Throw away the menu and let Chef Mauricio feed you - simply the best!

By kangaroo2805 |

We went not once but twice to this little gem tucked away on Ludlow St, hidden by scaffolding, drawn in by the warmth of Maurizio and his family and staff. First time we ordered some quick snacks and really enjoyed the homemade authentic flavours of this Italian cuisine. One our return we were persuaded to do the chefs choice menu and my word it is everything you could have wanted. Small tastes of extraordinary flavours, nothing to compare it with. Won over and will be back every time we get to this magical city

Superb Italian resturant

By OwnYourself |

We were staying just along the street and when searching for a good Italian restaurant on trip advisor we were surprised to find one so close. We were not disappointed. Superb food and excellent service. Highly recommended.

2 visits at Mauricio's Restaurant !

By lemazetdelatour |

We had, me and my wife, two wonderful meals at "the Taverna di Bacco"... We strongly recommands this place to any visitors who seek some good Italian food in East Village of NYC. Above all, you shall be received by Mauricio "the man in charge" with a lot of kindness. Dom & Fred

Backyard dining

By Petter187463 |

This lower east side taverna offers first class home made Italian food, rustic enivionment indoors and outdoors and a very friendly straff. Very good value for money, even for the wines.

Superb summer food in the back garden

By 741chicago |

Outstanding service, very tasty food. We ate out in the back garden area - not noisy. Easily took care of a gluten allergy. Wine list not extensive but good choice and quality. While we ate in the garden, the inside looks enticing, cozy and perfect for a chilly autumn or winter special dinner.

Very good food, fast service!

By elisabeth g |

We were desperate for quick food near our hotel. Taverna di Bacco was the ticket. The service was excellent and we sat outside in their interesting courtyard. Inside looked fun.

Some of the best Italian food in NYC

By Neil P |

Taverna di Bacco is one of the best places in NYC to eat Italian food. I have had the Branzino twice there, it was as good as I have ever tasted in 40 years of eating. Wine list is nice, and the wait staff is very helpful, service is very good. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner Maurizio and he took the time to explain his menu and cooking style. (He won some kind of reality show cook-off, but I don't watch those shows so I cannot confirm). A great place to eat if you are in the neighborhood, and worth the trip if you aren't. Highly recommended.

Best for Drinks and atmosphere; the food is not so hot.

Great food, great atmosphere

By Jcarlee |

Food was outstanding from appetizer to dessert! No matter what else you eat get the garlic bread. The service was great too. Like eating at a friend’s home. They make you comfortable right from the start.

Fresh, filling and simply fabulous!

By Octobergirl23 |

Great evening out with family and just passing by when approached by host to enter and try their delicious food. Well we did and we were not disappointed. Pasta carbonara was creamy and tasty, the eggplant baked with smoked mozzarella melted in my mouth and finally the mini meatballs were juicy and flavorful. Will return. And will invite others!

Best Meal we had in NYC!

By mbovary2019 |

Before I visited New York City, I pored over hot new chef bios and best restaurant lists to ensure we had culinary success on our trip. For the most part, we did. But the our favorite meal was found in an unplanned trip right across the street from our hotel...Taverna di Bacco. As soon as you walk in, the ambiance excites you...you feel like you are in the company of people who are in the know about where the REAL cool places are to eat in the city. We were seated in the back courtyard, which was charming. The staff was attentive and happy to suggest some cocktails. They were great, by the way. When I tell you that every morsel of food we had was fantastic, I am not kidding. It's so rare to find food that tastes like fine dining, but also feels like the person who made it for you actually cares, like an old country grandma. We had the carbonara, paccheri, chicken parmigiana and their famous chicken. All outstanding. The owner came out to greet us and could not have been more lovely. Thank God he convinced me to get a piece of the carrot cake - I will never forget it. (I consider myself a carrot cake expert, and this gluten free version was a revelation.) All in all, next time I'm in NYC, this place will be first on my restaurant list!

Great Italian food with a Southern Italy focus

By Giora G |

Our hotel was adjacent to this restaurant and we decided to give it a try. We had a great lunch with excellent food and great service from the owners. You could feel the depth of the food and the quality of the products in each dish - was really excellent. go there and enhoy a great Italian meal!

Finally a real Italian in the kitchen !

By annabella |

Such a lovely and romantic restaurant with the best Italian plates in NY (real pasta al dente with amazing taste !) It really felt like Italy ! You have to eat to this restaurant if you are visiting New York! Even though, I was a bit disappointed by the tiramisu whose missing some cream and too much biscuit for me...The service was perfect !

Great place great food

Friendly , great atmosphere , great food - chef made us feel like I was in my uncles house in Rome , take him up on his suggestions. Great ragu and sweet wait staff It's my new favorite

Highly recommend this authentic Italian

By anunez2018 |

My daughter and I dined here and were delighted with the quality of the food and the service. The owner / chef was there the night we dined and personally greeted us. Overall an excellent dining experience.

An Italian meal better than in Little Italy

By msfloria |

After a not so amazing meal in Little Italy, we were hesitant to try another Italian meal. However, it was our last night in NYC and right beside our hotel. The reviews on TripAdvisor are true. The food here was stellar!! The staff welcomed us in immediately and we just had a good feeling. I had the dish and finished it before anyone else at the table. It was THAT good and I am the slowest eater! My boyfriend had the pappardelle which he really enjoyed as well. The tiramisu was also fantastic. Our friends had a dessert with a surprise middle. If you can guess the ingredient, you get a free drink (this could be a thing or just specifically our table, not too sure). Anyway, I guessed the ingredient and earned a round of yummy prosecco! I have also heard amazing reviews about their brunch. Just come here and have a great meal with a wonderful staff!

Great restaurant

By DoraMcG |

Went here for Dinner with 8 friends. Food was excellent. Great atmosphere. staff v friendly. Would highly recommend

What a great little restaurant should be.

By PaulSnood |

We've enjoyed it before but had to shout out to Danny at the bar for putting up with us and making some killer Black Manhattans! Great people, and a cordial owner/chef, Maurizio will make you feel welcome as you enjoy the food, drink and ambience.

Excellent burger

By AlanR0ss |

The Chef's burger is one of the best burgers that I have ever tasted! As long as you like fried onions this is a dream burger and the fries are thick and handmade. The staff are friendly and they stock a wide selection of wines and some specialty beers.

Delicious and welcoming

By Sandra P |

What a great find. Hungry from shopping and walking in the cold, we chose Taverna di Bacco mid afternoon and our visit was delightful. Our host, the owner, was gracious and warm and suggested the garlic bread that was incredible. Our meal was the most amazing Italian food I’ve eaten full of flavor and served nice and hot. Thanks for sharing your “home” and hospitality.

My Favorite Spot in all of NYC

By i_luv_stj |

Some friends and I (from Chicago) found this cozy and warm taverna by accident a few years ago when we wanted to go to Katz's Deli around the corner, but were too hungry to wait. It was a Sunday morning and we were welcomed with open arms by the owners, Andrea and Maurizio and ended up staying for over 4 hours! Maurizio is a fantastic chef, and he brought us samples of dish after dish to try and we were amazed with everything. (Favorites were steak tartar, meatballs, and any pasta he brought out!) A few years later, my husband and I are in NY alone and decide to go and have dinner at Taverna di Bacco, and had another amazing experience. I then and there decided to have my 50th birthday party at the restaurant, which was this past weekend and it was again a stellar experience from beginning to end. We had a 7-course tasting menu where we told Chef Maurizio to do whatever he wanted, and he did not disappoint. It is obvious that Andrea and Maurizio love what they do and make every experience special, whether is just be a romantic dinner, quick lunch, or an unforgettable party for 30. Go to Taverna di Bacco asap - you won't be disappointed, and you soon see why I wrote this review and enjoy wonderful owners who make everyone feel like family.

Amazing find on a long walk

By Denise P |

After visiting the 9/11 Museum and walking up through Chinatown and Little Italy, the plan was to eat a late lunch at Katz's Deli; however, the line to get in the door at Katz's was 45 minutes and I could not wait. We found this restaurant on the map and walked over (not far!). There were only a few customers, so we were seated and served quickly. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was charming. We saw only one server who was also working the bar and handling take-out orders, but she was attentive and professional. We enjoyed the calamari, paste carbonara, and the paccheri. There is outdoor seating at the rear of the restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Delicious food. Wonderful service. Good time had by all. The Chef treats customers like family. Outstanding meal.

Likeable

By CCP1967 |

Unpretentious place amongst all the affected "alternative" bars and restaurants. Good waitress. Decent Italian food, although the chocolate and Parmesan dessert didn't really do it for me. Nice place though.

Ask for the patio!

By skmtravel |

Enjoyed family dinner in their patio which is wonderful on a pleasant summer evening. Very nice food and great service from Chris who is such a nice young man. We will be back soon.

Great place!

By Martijn B |

Love the food! Love the music! Love the service! Seriously, we had lunch there as an alternative to Katz (just on the corner), and I am sooo glad we did! Best part? No 45 min. queue to be seated :)

Wonderful catering

By keaton7 |

We had the rehearsal dinner for my son's wedding here on March 9th. The restaurant is charming and the owner aims to please. The food was delicious and all meals delivered hot. All courses were delicious. Prior to dinner, guests had Proseco and wine as they circulated around the bar. After that, everyone sat for dinner. The restaurant accommodated approximately 60 people very nicely. I highly recommend Taverna di Bacco and thank Mauricio for his expertise in making the party the night before the wedding so very special. This was a wonderful meal and a wonderful memory! Thank you, Mauricio!

Great service, top food but pricey

By AFLon99 |

We went here having walked away from Tre, next door, which was too dark and inhospitable. This place was awesome. Great friendly service from Jean Claude, this bubbly Martinique chap with great banter and really nice Italian food. The portions were familiarly English (i.e. small) and familiarly NY (i.e. expensive). So if you want traditional Italian food, you will find far better value elsewhere. But if you're in the neighbourhood wanting a bit more of an exotic slice (some of the starters and dishes they do are fab) then this is a great spot provided you're comfortable with the price.

Delicious food and friendly service

By suevinales |

Welcoming, prompt service and very tasty pasta. Mushroom and spinach ravioli, lasagne both meat and vegetarian........We also managed Tiramisu - a very enjoyable lunch!

Nice place!

By MSP |

We stopped by on a late friday nitght for a quick drink. We had just flown in...it was such a delightful place, we had the rest of our large extended family join us. Great fun. Service was super friendly!!!

GREAT find on Lower East Side

By Amy S |

Simply, the food here is absolutely delicious. I was there by myself and there was none of that weird stuff about solo diners, etc. Great service, lovely garden setting on a warm NYC night. Super convenient to my hotel (The Ludlow, across the street). I had a selection of antipasti and each one was better than the next. The salade with seared tuna and devilled eggs is unbelievably good. Very nice wine list, as well. And definitely good value. Not cheap but worth every peny, and not what anyone would call expensive, either.

A can't miss meal

By Claire R |

I'm a long time fan of Mauizio and Andrea and love eating with them whenever I'm in town. I eat gluten free and usually an Italian restaurant is nearly impossible for me, but here the GF pasta is almost impossible to distinguish from regular. Every dish is fantastic, from the bread to the dessert the only problem is having enough room in your tummy to eat everything you want! Oh, and the drinks! Thank goodness for cabs! The mixed drinks are delicious but my faves have to come from the impressive wine list. I could eat breakfast, lunch and dinner here every day and never be disappointed.

Great find in NYC Lower East side

By dupetersentravel |

Our party of six was looking for a nice Italian meal and we stumbled across Taverna di Bacco. It was 20:40 and we were told an hour wait, so we had a drink across the street. The table was ready with a very slight delay and chef Maurizio Cerscenzo warmly welcomed us. It is a cook to order neighborhood restaurant that makes most everything from scratch. The wine list is quite reasonably priced with solid Italian choices – the Montepulciano offering was delicious and went with the pasta dishes very well. His claim to fame is winning a season of the show “Chopped” and the winning dish is on the menu – 3 in our party had it and it received rave reviews. The special lamb ragu over perfectly prepared wide pasta was also excellent. Homemade limoncello, cheesecake, and a merengue were also great. Highly recommend this restaurant and we will be back when in NYC’s Lower East side.

Great food, authentic atmosphere

By Venture25908 |

I have eaten at Le Pere Pinard twice on visits to NYC. Both times I found the food to be excellent. My favorites are the calamari appetizer, the coq au vin and the lavender rice. I have read reviews about this restaurant stating that the service was poor and not customer oriented. However, I have not found that to be the case on my visits. A good choice for good French food and atmosphere. I plan to eat there on every visit.

A great Family restaurant with high Sttandard

By David Bitton |

We were staying across at the Ludlow Hotel and decided to try the food. It was exactly what we wanted , simple food but cooked perfectly with love. fresh ingredients, great service and a well price wine list. We were lucky to meet the owner and his wife they were very friendly as both were busy hands on working in the kitchen and front of house. we will be back for sure. A Bientot!

Exquisite Food, Fabulous Friends and Fun!

By GamaMac |

What an amazing experience eating heer with Mauricio and his family. We met dear friends for dinner after an afternoon playing in Brooklyn. We started at the bar with great wine and ended up at a table for 6 of us. The menus were handed to us BUT before we could look Mauricio asked "order from the menu OR let me feed you?" 6 people said "Feed us!" And then it all began - plate after plate of food experiences that are hard to explain. Bursting with flavor and love - exquisite choices of turning regular food (eggplant) into something we all ate and wanted more or. His meatballs are so incredible, they were the topic of our 7 hours drive south today! Lamb Shank, pork belly, lasagna and it kept coming. Each dish was seasoned with fresh herbs that must have been grown in Italy and rushed to our plates within minute of serving. How else could they be so fragrant, fresh and authentic? There are not enough words in the English language to describe this whole experience. Suffice it to say, if you have not been here - GO - stand in line - wait forever...you will remember it as the most incredible dining experience of your life! Did I mention the hand crafted chocolate puff dessert made from eggplant? Served with a swill of espresso and vodka? My sincere thanks to Jeff and Eddie for taking us to meat Mauricio and his family. We will talk about this meal forever!! Thanks to Carmen and Randy for joining us!

Italian food now with Liquor

By AlanR0ss |

Taverna Di Bacco is one of my favorite spots to eat authentic Italian food in the city and now they have a liquor license which tops it off for me. I always ask for the daily specials and sometimes just ask the Chef to feed us anything that he thinks we may like. I am looking forward to brunch this weekend where I can now get a bloody Mary with my brunch.

great spot

By paul l |

I walked across the street from my hotel and found this gem. The first bartender was a total pro and the bruschetta was superb. I went back a second night and the second bartender openly admitted that she was a sub but the food was still fantastic. go and bring your appetite.

Best food ever!

By Connie B |

This Restaraunt is a must! The food was absolutely perfect. The chef has a delicate touch and has was a winner on TV show Chopped. The service is professional and everyone is friendly. Enjoy! I know I did.

Great spot to eat and have drinks with friends!

By Nikki D |

We randomly went into this restaurant because it was next door to our hotel and I am so glad we did! The food was great and the people who work there instantly became our new friends. The owner was great and sat with us and had drinks and shared stories and the bartender really knows how to make people feel welcome, too. The food was impeccable. You must try the brussells sprouts!

So good we went twice in one weekend.

By eyequackess |

Super little restaurant opposite our hotel which served excellent food and good wines. I personally loved the fact that you could order a just plate of pasta for supper that was for me, a manageable size i.e. not enormous!

Birthday Dinner

By pgdulce |

We didn't have reservations and we were staying at the nearby hotel, they were so welcoming and told us to the wait was 10mins and they welcomed us to the bar, we were actually seated immediately, the service was excellent and was pleasantly surprised, the staff really made sure we were comfortable.

Late dinner

By Resespecialisten2 |

After arriving late at the Ludlow hotel, we crossed the street and visited this place. The staff was extremely helpful and nice. We got our pasta vongole and a glass of red wine. It would be a five star if it wasn't for the volume, it was almost impossible to talk to each other.

Loveliest Chef & food in NYC

By kristinpaige17 |

If you want to feel like family and enjoy delicious food, look no further. Mauritzio is the most darling host and chef. We came for brunch on our last day in the city and came back for dinner because our experience was just that amazing. He knows his craft and you can tell it’s his passion. No where else have I been where the chef both cooks for you and serves you. The ambiance is also beautiful and the cocktails just as tasty. You will not be disappointed. Already looking forward to visiting again!

Truly Magical

By Brett Yeakey |

We visited for my husband's birthday. The staff went above and beyond in making this a special evening for all of us. The five course tasting menu was inspired... every dish showing the passion Chef Maurizio has for creating excellent food. A truly magical evening. This will be tops on our list when visiting NYC.

An evening out in Lower Manhattan south of the Village

By nancyN2311PK |

In an area with sparse restaurant pickings, this was a gem. For a special night out, since it is pricey, this was a great small place to dine.

Sunday dinner

By Fearless734933 |

Very pleasant restaurant and attentive staff. We went only needing mixed starters and this was ideal. Meatballs, burrata and sprouts. Was ideal.

Small portions for the price!

By Melanie H |

Lovely little restaurant with nice ambience. Service was friendly and efficient. We were informed of the specials one of which was lasagne. I chose clam Vongole and my partner ordered the lasagne. Within 10 mins both dishes arrived and I must say that the lasagne looked like a starter! When we got the bill we were shocked to see that both entrees were $22 each! I know New York is pricey but that was ridiculously expensive for lasagne and it wasn’t even that special! The vongole was nice and I think a bit larger portion. Make sure you have a starter or you’ll be finished in 30 mins easily!

We don't need places like this in our neighborhood

By bonbonturc |

I am pretty lenient...most of the time, but here it is, one star. Stopped by to have drinks only. OK, drinks here a bit over NYC prices, two drinks with tip $40. I am OK with that, but please use a shaker to mix my cocktail... 2nd, do not use a jigger to measure your pour... But what disturbed me the most was...the restaurant is almost empty, this lady walks in and asks if she can use the restroom. They tell her that she has to buy a drink, cheapest $4.50. What?? Have the decency to let people use your restroom in NYC. I am sure we all been in that situation. NY'ers are not like this. They don't treat others like this.

my favorite place

By chelsock |

Great drinks, lovely staff, amazing salmon and escargot. Beautiful space with back garden. Nice wine list too, well priced.

LOVED Taverna!

By cwood1227 |

We went to Taverna Di Bacco as a group of 8. I thought we were accommodated pretty well considering it was a Saturday night in the city and it's not a huge place. I LOVED this place. Sadly, I was there to see my best friend so I won't be a regular, but that doesn't mean it's not because I don't want to be! I've already recommended Taverna to everyone I know who lives in NYC. The atmosphere is awesome. It took me back to Italy as soon as we sat down. I loved the exposed brick and twinkling lights, the decor is spot on. It was modern but felt old world and it was everything I wanted it to be. The specials included a Mushroom and Gorgonzola Risotto, a Branzino dish and some others. I saw Gnocchi on the menu and was immediately decided. Dishes around the table were varied but all received glowing reviews - the gnocchi, risotto, branzino, steak, you name it. We had a great time, our server was attentive and got along great with our group. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and wish I could say I'd be back soon! I'm hoping to take my husband there next time we are in town for a date night. Definitely recommend.

Great Welcome

By The_Morgan_Family |

Great food - pasta, risotto and meat dishes were all excellent - even managed to squeeze in pudding. The welcome from the owner was very warm and friendly and the service attentive.

Nice

By Nana Piesie |

I'm telling you this is one of the best American Italien resturang I have ever been to. And it all was an accident, that we can here. The cocktails was good and cheifs specialty or the pork belly was amazing. Sparrow the waitress was very polite and pick the right dish for me and my girlfriend. she forgot the one but that is ok haha

Treated like friends

By loz1972 |

Landed upon the restaurant on our first night in New York. So glad we did. Hospitality at its finest. Mauricio is as enchanting as his food. Set the standard for the rest of our trip. Number of little trips back for drinks as well as taking a note of the recipe for the infamous meatballs. Can't wait to try; and yes Mauricio - I won't be using wine in the mixture any more! Meatballs and lemon panna cotta - a must if you visit as is a glass of Brooklyn gin. Recommended.

Good food, good atmosphere

By Gourmand_PQ |

We happened upon this taverna while walking around the Lower East Side. Nice decor and very friendly wait staff. We had a very good and reasonably priced bottle of Valpolicella along with a few of that evening's specials. Simple but very well executed (the fennel salad was excellent), altogether a very nice meal.

The most delicious food (we had the 5 course tasting menu) and much much better than many Michelin Star restaurants. Would highly recommend.

Best Open Table find of my life

By Christopher M |

A group of 7 decided to grab dinner on a Saturday night and all the places we were thinking were booked so I looked on Open table and found this place and decided to book it and I could not be happier I did. A few of us arrived and saw that the owner was a Chopped Champion which immediately got us excited since we are huge Chopped fans. The owner turned out to be outside and we chatted with him about the show and it was great to meet him. We went inside and waited for our other friends to arrive. We decided to split a few bottles of wine that the owner recommended and got a cheese platter and the Brussel sprouts appetizer (one of the best I've ever had). We really enjoyed the wine and all of our dinners. The owner repeatedly checked on us and engaged making us feel very welcome! We decided to split some desserts including the one he won for on Chopped which was one of the greatest things I've ever eaten in my life. The chocolate mousse was unbelievable and the charred fruit dipped in the champagne white chocolate sauce was unexpectedly delicious. The owner additionally gave us some other desserts on the house which was a pleasant surprise which we greatly appreciated! We had such a wonderful time here. It was a cozy spot to not only catch up with friends but also enjoy a great meal and meet a really wonderful chef. Highly highly highly recommend! Will definitely be returning! Seriously one of the best desserts I've ever had!

Best Italian spot in the neighborhood

By Elizabeth B |

Best Italian spot in the neighborhood by far. Perfect food, relaxed atmosphere, stylish crowd, incredible owners. I’m allergic to dairy, so the owner went in the back and made me a dish fresh without cheese. Best spaghetti & meatballs I’ve had in years. His wife suggested a wine I’d never tried & it paired wonderfully. My date was impressed as well. Definitely my new favorite spot

Amazing night had by all!!!

By Mrbilbobagginss |

Went with my wife and parents and let me tell you this place was GREAT!! From the service to the food I couldn't have asked for more!!!!! From our waitress with a constant smile on her face that we all thought was Gwyneth Paltrow until she showed us her license to prove otherwise to the fantastic wine list and delicious food I would suggest anyone and everyone check them out.

Simple and elegant slice of Italy

By PaulSnood |

Enjoyed an excellent dinner while staying almost next door at the Indigo Hotel LES. Starting with a small Salumi Board and wonderful spinach, date and walnut salad, then onto to Linguine al Vongole for me, and a special of the day Gnocchi with Lamb Ragu (which was amazing). Nice wine list with some decent mainly Italian offerings (I had the Dolcetto D'Alba Prunetto, which was around $50.00 a bottle) so not too bad. Would definitely return the next time I'm in the area.

I had dinner here with some friends since we were staying next door at Hotel Indigo. Staff and Manager were quick to greet and seat us. Food was very good! I started with a caesar salad (dressing was excellent) and had the lasagna special for dinner. The restaurant has a rustic theme and is a good size. There were a number of people eating dinner when we were there but it didn't get too loud. I would eat here again if I'm in the area.

Special place

By Paoletta1111 |

Taverna di Bacco is situated on the Lower East Side, Manhattan, just few minutes walk from St. Patrick's Old Cathedral and Washington Square. The chef Maurizio has a long experience in New York restaurants both as owner/Manager and as chef. He is also the winner of some cooking competitions. His cuisine is really delicious, with a real Italian taste and typical flavours of Mediterranean region. Every dish is prepared with love and care and is very delicious. Taverna also offers nice cocktails so you can just come to have a drink there. Maurizio's wife Andrea helps to manage the restaurant and takes care of their guests with smile and kindness. I highly recommend this place. Go there, you won't be disappointed.

Best Italian in NYC so far

By Ava F. |

From the friendly staff to the amazing mouth-watering dishes, this restaurant was a 1-/10 for us. I cannot recommend it enough. It's a rather small/intimate feeling since the space is not the biggest, which my friend and I loved. You can actually hear yourself talk and enjoy your meal. The food was impeccable, though note the portions are pretty moderate. Perfect for a friend catch-up, parents in town, intimate birthday dinners, date night, and pretty much anything else for that friends and family feel.

Will return

By palomino62 |

My sisters and cousins came here after a sobering tour of the 9/11 memorial museum. Our guide suggested it. We sat in the lovely outdoor dining area. It was a lovely day. We were served lovely wines and began with mussels, zucchini salad & eggplant with buffalo mozzarella. Each one was delicious. We next had salmon risotto and home made porcini mushroom ravioli. Yum. Lastly we had grilled salmon. This was a bit much for lunch but each bite was just as tasty as the one before. I hope to return soon!!

First course: largely a shredded onion. Then, shrimp pasta where the shrimp were goopy, maybe repeatedly thawed. Like slugs.

Excellent restaurant

By Manon69 |

Fantastic pasta and fantastic service. the owner is very kind and will accommodate your food allergies should you need so and will not compromise on the taste! the restaurant has a European flair to it, just like in Italy. If you are looking for authentic, with a twist of new, that's the place to go.

Dinner @ Taverna di Bacco

By Getaway31122670037 |

This little gem was down the block from our hotel. And a gem it is. It is family owned and the passion that this husband and wife put into their food and ambience of the restaurant shows. The staff is friendly and insightful, I ordered the Paccheri and my husband ordered the Chicken Parmigiana both amazing dishes. It was a nice way to end out trip to NYC and the Lower East Side. This restaurant is worth every nickel. I highly recommend it.

Very uncomfortable

By Elise |

Went there alone, the food and staff were great, except I got harassed by I believe was one of the assistant director... He wouldn't stop looking for an occasion to talk to me, asking me to stay longer in town, if I was a model, reading up my shoulder... I couldn't move without having a comment from him, so I just spent the evening starring at my plate and hurry to finish my dinner. Even when I was on the phone, he asked me to hang out. First I answered politely, but after that he just wouldn't let me eat in peace. I was very uncomfortable. The one star is because it simply ruined my evening. A very good exemple of what women have to live very often when they are alone in a public place.

Amazing going back tonight

Unbelievable lamb

By rwelch1953 |

This Lower East Italian Taverna is the best with a master chef from Campania, Italy. Service friendly and attentive. Good drinks. I had the lamb which was the best I've had since leaving Italy years ago. The chef will also prepare dishes not on the menu... Just tell him what you want and if he has the ingredients it make.

Good Place for Brunch

By Alexander Agostini |

Ladies & Gentlemen, this is my 118th review and counting. I would rather recommend this place, the environment and the atmosphere itself is pretty good, especially the the East-Quarter of Manhattan is pretty good, saw better, but it is around 2 AV station, easy to reach and it has some parks around. Brunch was pretty good, had 3 Proseccos and 3 meals, plus 1 pancake on the house, all was well prepared and the service was pretty good. Good price for value, you could make it below 30 for two, without Prosecco, but we ordered a bit more, since we wanted to combine breakfast and lunch.

Impeccable private meal for two without a reservation

By C S |

After a long day exploring NYC, we realised we hadn't eaten dinner and it was nearly midnight. We decided to head back to the hotel and take our chances. A girl we'd met the night before at happy hour had recommended di Bacco, so we thought we'd give it a try. Just gone midnight, the owner, Maurizio, told us the kitchen had closed. We must have looked sad because he immediately welcomed us both in and said he would cook for us. He could not have been more welcoming and warm, giving us the best table in the house (we were the only customers left!) overlooking Ludlow Street through wide open windows. The waitress was equally charming - having waitressed, myself, I know how annoying it is when a table walks in at closing time, but she couldn't have been more lovely. The restaurant and bar were beautifully presented and the menu was small enough that I didn't struggle to choose, but extensive enough to give adequate choice. We ordered a glass of wine and a cocktail, both of which were superb, followed by calamari and a salad, also fabulous. For mains we had meatballs which were the best I've ever eaten and a vegetarian gnocchi dish, also delicious and perfectly prepared. The food was fantastic, but what made this one of the best meals of my life was the attitude and service from the owner and waitress. They made us feel very special and made what was already a special trip to NYC just perfect.

Early evening food

By StanBaldwin2015 |

The menu looked good so we dropped in about 5pm for a a light early evening meal with the family. The staff were very friendly, nice open plan kitchen so you can see whats going on. Well stocked bar and cocktail list and the food was excellent. This was our last day and wish we have found it earlier

Superb Italian Food in NY

Really nice antipasti, loved the squid and the steak tartare, and the cocktails are great as well! We had a lovely evening.

They took credit cards

By vacationnutsPA |

We chose this place because it looked good but they also took plastic where a lot of other Italian restaurants in the village only took cash. We were promptly sat and knew immediately we were in the best place. When the server in an Italian restaurant is from Italy you feel the love. We shared appetizers, each had a meal and shared desserts and topped it off with limoncello. Everyone at the table agreed the food was amazing as well as the service. The chef came out to introduce himself so we got to tell him how we enjoyed the food. If you are in the village and want Italian, check out this place.

Tasty and friendly staff

By schlipa |

It’s small restaurant in the lower east side which offered a good variety of pasta. The meatballs were juicy and delicious. The pasta vongole were very tasty too. The bread is prepared freshly and is brought warm to the table.

Favorite Italian

By Ann T |

It was only by accident, because we were staying in a hotel nearby, that we tried this cozy restaurant. We knew nothing about it, and well, we are joking we are moving in. During our stay, it became our go-to spot, where we wanted to meet friends, where we wanted a bowl of soup, where we wanted to sip our wine and hide from the cold, and then the rain. It's embarrassing how many times we went there, and LOVED each dish we tried. Beet salad, buffalo mozzarella salad, pasta dishes, fish, chicken soup better than my (very good) homemade one. Every dish was cooked perfectly, was delicious and satisfying. We felt welcomed and enjoyed talking with the owner/chef. We will come back to the neighborhood, just to stop in again!

Delicious

By EMT_Chris |

Dropped in on a Friday night got lucky without a reservation. The staff were warm and friendly, eager to please. Menu items and specials for any palate. Lots of fresh seafood, pasta and a classic with a twist chicken parm. Everything was DELICIOUS! Make sure to save some room for desserts. Enjoy

Cute place w/a garden in back - Well flavored food

By PhiaPhia |

I was there last week, not knowing about this place to attend this event. Just a few doors down from the famous Katz deli. Decor is cut with blick walls and wooden floor (like Brooklyn apartments!). Some items seems to be traditional, while others has some modern twists. Pizza with pate. Food is not greasy at all. Some Italian restaurants use too much oil, but not here. Bread was nice - crostini has some tart flavor. Small bar (mostly wine) has descent selection. Bartender at that night was smiling and made us relaxed. Waiters seem to be friendly (back in the kitchen, they were working hard). I always tell in my reviews 'Go to downtown' as you might have read. This is one of the places I would recommend for a reasonable and off the beaten path = no tourists. Come down here, it is not far from F - train 2nd Avenue station. There are so many cool places around this area. Join us!

And the winner is...

By cannonhome1 |

I took my Italian mother on a food tour while in NYC. We went to three recommended restaurants: Tony di Napoli, Piccolo Angolo and Taverna di Bacco. While all were good, one stood out as excellent. That was Taverna di Bacco. Everyone in our party of four considered it the highlight of our tour. The clams and linguine and the risotto had exceptional flavor. The service was top notch and the space was comfortable. Our waiter poured several wines for tasting until we found one we enjoyed. The bottom line here is the delicious food. We will be back in the future.

Second visit was better than the first.

By Neil P |

Excellent Italian food! The meatballs are to die for, and the pasta was cooked perfectly. Prices are very reasonable too. Apparently the chef was a winner on some TV cooking competition, and it shows. The only negative is that the place was incredibly loud, but this was a Saturday night. Highly recommended.

excellent meal, great value

By Judy G |

I managed to have 2 birthday meals, so this was #2. We went early on Friday evening, so it wasn't crowded. Great service. I especially compliment our waiter who recommended a white wine I had never heard of before, which turned on my taste buds. My favorite Italian meal is veal scallopini in white wine & mushroom sauce. Theirs was tender and full of flavor. It was accompanied by a very original & tasty side of brussel sprouts. There were 5 of us, and everyone at the table was very happy with their delicious meals. We topped off the meal with an excellent tiramisu allowing us to leave with the perfect sweet taste on our tongues. Compared to other Italian restaurants of equal quality, the value was terrific. Hopefully I will return on another visit to New York.

Fun night...delicious food

By benzslkgirl |

The owner/chef, Maricio, won the show “Chopped”, and he made me some pesto gnocchi even though it’s was not on the menu! Sooooo good! I went with some friends that are close friends of his, so that's why I had a bit of special treatment, most likely, but he was extremely friendly with everyone in the restaurant, and everything looked amazing. Great place to go on a date or a night out with the girls, which is what I did. Nice ambiance. Great service, Great menu and food. Good memory from that night.

Just perfect!

By alw77 |

We were staying at The Ludlow across the road and walked past this place every day …. Thankfully on our second last night we decided to be lazy and try this place, luckily I decided to book in the afternoon just in case, and my goodness it was worth it. It was a Friday night, we entered a warm and welcoming restaurant and were seated at the bar …. Service (Soleil) was spectacular, food was some of the best we ate, and lovely wine choice, and what a warm buzzy atmosphere…. No it’s not cheap, but nothing in NewYork is and this was worth every penny! I had tried and failed to book some of the more fancy/highly rated Italian restaurants in the areas and I’m glad we found this amazing place, as it was just perfect. We loved it so much we booked again for our next and last night, and if possible an even better experience… we were greeted like regulars! Do nit hesitate, book it and enjoy!!!!! We’ll be back!

Very good Italian food

By MarialexdlC |

We went to lunch at 3pm on Sunday and there were not many people. We were warmly attended and the orders were not long gone. The place is elegant and medium in size, you can talk, it does not feel noisy. We ordered garlic bread, burrata, papardelle, linguini, steak, chicken parmigiana and dessert pannacota and cheese cake. The medium, adequate portions and pasta and every dish we ordered was finger sucking. The prices are a little high, like this type of restaurant in New York. I recommend it.

Quiet Monday meal

By RobbieandCarmel |

I was travelling alone and the restaurant was empty when I arrived but the menu was good and the staff welcoming. My dish was very good as was wine - a hearty rigatoni with pork belly and a smooth Montepulciana. I'd definitely like to come back with friends.

Treat you like family

By Larry L |

We stayed directly across the street at The Ludlow Hotel and stopped in for a drink before a show on Broadway. The cocktails and apps were so good that we went back the next day for brunch. That is saying something considering the insane amount of place there are to eat on the lower east side. The owners (husband and wife team) treat you like family. It felt like I was visiting Italy again. The food was delicious - mostly homemade and the drinks were spectacular. The owner even crushes his own tomatoes to make the mix for the Bloody Marys!!! We will be back... soon. Awesome!!

Great homemade pasta. Great service. The food tastes like your sitting in a restaurant in Italy. If you have to wait for a table, it's worth it. There's not many great Italian restaurants in NYC, but this is one of them!! It's so worth it. P.s. get the special dessert!!

Taverna Di Bacco

By 46XX |

We were taken to this restaurant by friends who live in the area. The restaurant was not busy at all. The food was not special although the pasta was touted and 3 of us had linguini with clams which was only fair. There are so many good restaurants in NY, I suspect this one won't make it.

Classic NYC Italian with a Cozy Vibe

By Bytor56 |

We had dinner at Taverna di Bacco after a long day of exploring New York City. It’s your classic cozy NYC Italian restaurant, and having a reservation is definitely a good idea—the wait was quite long for walk-ins, but we were seated right away. The atmosphere was inviting, and our server was very kind, though clearly stretched thin. It seemed like the staff could’ve used an extra set of hands to keep up with the busy evening. The food was good but didn’t quite reach “excellent.” Of the three pasta dishes we ordered, one was a standout for someone in our party, while the other two were enjoyable but not especially memorable. The meatball appetizer was flavorful but slightly dry. All in all, it was a pleasant experience, and worth considering if you’re in the area and craving Italian.

Humble Chef/Owner won "Chopped" TV show

By weeklytravelerjoyce |

Such great new energy in the older lower eastside neighborhood now. This classic Italian eatery has been around for 20 years. Chef came out and ordered for us and then went back to the kitchen to make it. He greeted us like this was the living room of his house - so proud, yet humble. We learned of the Chopped win long after he put plates of creamy red and white sauce pappardelle along side balsamic olive oil with Italian bread (the kind that is hard on the outside and soft in the middle - perfect!). Good wines/good happy hour/great food/authentic Italian NYC class!

Warmth and Italian Flavor in New York

By strafisiobest |

Welcomed and accompanied by the Great Chef Maurizio Crescenzo on this "culinary journey", we tasted, with relative verbal explanations, truly original dishes with exceptional taste, which demonstrated the quality of Italian cuisine in New York and the high professional value of the aforementioned chef .

Overly priced tasteless food

By Roger O'Donnell |

Very poor service and the food was sadly awful. $32 for the tasteless frozen cod special was an insult. Nice ambience but avoid at all costs.

Terrible Food, Terrible Service

By Holly T |

Went here for a pre-arranged birthday party of about 30 people (Set up with the restaurant's owner MONTHS in advance by my friend who knows him, apparently). They were seating us in the "garden area" which was nice and set up on time, but in an odd manner. The tables were set up in an L-shape, which was not very conducive to interacting with the other guests very well. The main waitress was very nice and attentive initially. Part of our party was late so we started dinner late. The appetizers came at different times but not drastically so that we all pretty much were able to eat fairly together. They weren't that bad. I had eggplant and mozzarella that was pretty good. The entree orders (pre-arranged options as well) were taken and that's when the disasters started. The waiters didn't remember who ordered what (which I can understand but they emphasized taking the orders in a certain way so they knew who got what) so they just started calling out meals-- and were annoyed when no one spoke up to claim certain meals. It's like they over-made certain entrees. The entrees came out at all different times (about 1/2 hour apart) so those who waited ate cold meals and those who didn't wait ate, feeling guilty for eating with those around them starving. The chicken entrees were dry. The Bass meal was very salty and the portion was so small for the price it was laughable. The steaks were not cooked the way they were requested and their associated fries tasted terrible. The ONLY person who enjoyed their meal was a girl who sent her initial steak back-- the replacement was thick, juicy and as ordered... and even her fries were better! The meals that no one claimed-- mainly chicken meals, the wait staff wouldn't even leave around for the hungry people waiting for steaks to snack on-- they likely just got thrown away! At least make up for the fact that the kitchen was severely understaffed. AND, by the time the steaks came, they had ONE steak knife available. ONE FOR A GROUP OF 30, half of whom were having steak?? The knife I was given for my chicken earlier went around the table to everyone else who had a steak because otherwise they wouldn't be able to cut their food... or would have tried to with a butter knife. AND, they didn't have any steak sauce for those who wanted it. When it was dessert time, we were informed that they only had a few servings left of the pre-arranged dessert... and they only offered one other thing as a substitute, something that more than half of the people didn't want. At least offer the rest of the dessert menu! That's when I paid my pre-arranged $70 for the disaster of a meal and my glass of SODA and left.... but not before seeing a rat scurrying along the side of the garden area. Rats don't bother me and it is NYC, but it was just the icing on the cake, so to speak. (Cake would have been nice for the birthday girl. Just saying). Luckily for the restaurant I wasn't the one in charge of the bill. I'd have made a much bigger stink about the food and service than my friend likely did. My friend left a much bigger tip than deserved for the attitudes that the male waiter was giving while handing out the entrees and larger than I would have given. And, after "complaining" about the service and food (which, knowing my friend, was probably done too nicely), the owner gave my friend a miniscule discount... which was essentially a slap in the face to her. He should be ashamed of the discount he gave my friend/us-- that's not how you run a business and try to maintain a good name. All he did was make excuses and not try to make the situation better AT ALL. Offer us free drinks, more BREAD while we waited-- SOMETHING!!! I will never go here again and I would not recommend any large parties here... they'll promise you a lot and can't deliver. Maybe okay for smaller parties or a date, but I've already wasted enough money here. I feel terrible for my friend because she blames herself, when it's not her fault. My only regret (besides for spending a ridiculous amount of money for this food) is not taking over to complain FOR her.

Great real Italian bistro; low key and friendly

By MikeBirdman |

On a Saturday afternoon we just came across Taverna di Bacco. Was warm and friendly and the perfect Italian bistro. We shared an eggplant parm and then I had a lovely bowl of home made pasta - carbonara. Was excellent and made in the Italian style with egg. We ordered two glasses of white wine which they were out of so they opened a different bottle for us. Was fresh, and lovely. A relaxing time.

Food straight from my Nonna's kitchen

By Zia N |

For anyone who spent Sunday dinner eating in your Nonna or Nonni's kitchens and for everyone who didn't, this is Italian food made with love. The smells conjure memory and the taste is as close to be being back in the kitchen as I will be again. The porchetta ragu transcends, the ravioli is always handmade and no matter what filing, you CAN NOT go wrong with that dish. My sister has a gluten allergy and she was so thrilled to be able to ENJOY perfectly made pasta...it was the best meal we have both had in some time.

We enjoyed a fantastic Sunday dinner at this cozy restaurant, with warm and friendly (but unobtrusive) service from the owner. We didn't have a reservation, but there was no trouble getting a great table. Meals were delicious. The pasta were cooked perfectly, and the steak was melt-in-your-mouth tender. Wine selection was fantastic, too, with the owner knowing his cellar inside and out. We'll definitely be back next time we're in New York!

Welcoming with good food

By Paul W |

We were staying at the Ludlow Hotel who's restaurant wasn't yet open. This place is bang opposite so very convenient, it's a small Italian restaurant and bar. While looking at the menu outside, Maurizio the friendly Patron came out with a glass of wine in his hand and encouraged us to come in, so we thought why not, it looked good and there was a friendly atmosphere. I chose the seared tuna to start and my wife had roasted sprouts with bacon, a local thing and actually very good, as was the tuna, rare in the middle and extremely tasty We both chose the Pasta con Vongole, hers was with Linguini and mine was gluten free Penne. After a while Maurizio appeared to tell me that he only had enough Vongole for one, so my wife had this and he concocted a Misto de Mare to go with my Penne which turned out to be an excellent alternative. Both were cooked bianco with plenty of garlic, exactly as we had requested All washed down with a nice bottle of Laguna from the Veneto A very good little restaurant, very friendly and to be well recommended

Nice and good.

By Thierry C |

Small Italian meal after an 8-hour loan flight... good fried squid as a starter and tuna pasta for one and meatballs for the other. Good pasta but in small portions. High prices in relation to the quantities served. The service is friendly.

Great find

By Michael B |

Met up with friends for an impromptu dinner here and was impressed with the owner's approachability and friendliness. Great wine recommendation paired with what very well may be the best lamb shank I've had. It was cooked to perfection. Appetizers were tasty and creative, and the desserts were spot on but lacked some of the sophistication I might have expected. Overall, great quality with lots of flavor. Great with friends and family. Might have some difficulty hearing on a date.

Highly recommended!

Fabulous food, authentic atmosphere, and new friends

By Jennifer K |

This is a must-visit restaurant. We were greeted at the door by Mauricio, only to learn later he was the owner and chef. Throughout our time there we noticed he was constantly on the move, visiting with guests and even sitting with us for an espresso. It was clear many were regulars but we quickly felt like family, and by the end of the evening we discussed family and food as if we had known each other for some time. The food was amazing! I had no trouble finding something to eat as a gluten and dairy free person. Maurizio was also happy to modify the dishes to suit me. My (modified) Chicken Parm with gluten free pasta was absolutely delicious. The food was hot and received quickly and unlike other pasta dishes I have ever had. I had a feeling I was experiencing authentic Italian cuisine. We highly recommend this restaurant and can’t wait to go back.

Great Sunday Brunch in SoHo

By SouthGaTravelGuy |

My daughter and I happened upon this lovely Italian spot for a wonderful Sunday brunch in SoHo when our first choice was packed. From the sincere "Boun Giorno" welcome through our entire brunch experience, the Italian family atmosphere of Taverna di Bacco didn't disappoint. For $30 per person, we got a brunch entree and our choice of unlimited mimosas or bloody Mary's. (They even happily substituted the bloody Maria's - with tequila instead of vodka - my daughter requested). The food was delicious - I enjoyed a waffle sandwich and my daughter had an eggs Benedict-inspired dish with avocado and bacon - photos below! Well recommended.

Called in today in the afternoon to escape the snow and sampled a cocktail. Felt such a lovely atmosphere that we called back in the evening as we were staying across the road at the ludlow. The welcome, food, wine and service were superb. Yes we did have to wait a little longer for food as many staff couldn't get in for the snow but it was endearing how the owners friends rallied to help them. Gorgeous lasagne. Could eat it every day. A little jem.

Don't Miss!!

Came here with 7 people on a whim with no reservation. We had an incredible experience with the chef/owner, who took us under his wing and simply fed us! It was so memorable and special, we went back the second night with NINE people. We ate outside on the beautiful, private patio and were again, treated like family. There is something so special about this place.... ended our trip there the THIRD NIGHT IN A ROW at the bar.... everyone who works there made us feel so welcome! We couldn't fathom going anywhere else and having the same wonderful time. GO! Tell them their friends in Boston sent you!

My family ate a late lunch at Taverna Di Bacco on a cold day after Christmas. We were greeted by the whole family (the chef, his wife & their twin 11-year old daughters). We very much enjoyed chatting with the family. And we loved our pasta entrees. We will definitely return!

We went in by chance on our last evening in NY. Great food and service, very friendly staff. We were lucky to get a table so reservations are recommended.
