The perfect place to experiment with wine

By Eric C |

Even if you haven't read the book Cork Dork, Terroir Tribeca is a perfect place for any level of wine lover to try new things in a low key environment. The staff are all extremely knowledgeable and happy to accommodate patrons who prefer the "tried and true selections" or those who like venturing into the unknown. The feel is more Ratskeller than NYC Wine Bar with young, friendly staff. This feel may put some off but we loved it since the whole purpose is to focus on some outstanding wines and not trying to impress the person at the table next to you. The food menu options were limited but we were there before a show (4 - 6 PM timeframe) so there may be a more complete dinner menu. However, the food was excellent. I highly recommend letting your server assist you. This is a great place to try wines you just won't find in your towm or city as the owner Paul Grieco sources wines from merchants that you just cant find. Speaking of Paul, he is mentioned prominently n the book Cork Dork and his irreverent style and views on wines is truly expressed in his Terroir Tribeca location. Bottom line...leave pretense aside and bring curiosity

The only wine bar I have visited in NYC

By Tamas |

after a research I decided to visit this wine bar for HH. The Patagonian Pinot is one of the best I have ever drunk. The wine list is very informative focusing on Riesling from Germany and Austria.

Best Around!

By Christian J |

Wonderful wine bar with an amazing selection of wines by the glass. We had a 1990 Riesling- a 1990! Knowledgeable and friendly staff with a great small bites menu. Best wine bar you will find, guaranteed.

Perfect quick dinner and good bottle of wine

By SunNFunNJ |

Great casual spot with a HUGE wine menu and pretty decent food. Server was super friendly and accommodating. Wines by the glass were overall pricy but we managed to get a good bottle of Lambrusco for $40. They have quite a few small plate options as well as a full charceuterie and cheese menu and large plates as well. Best feature was the awesome 80s alternative music playing non-stop. I'd return just for that alone!

Just to make sure I dont loose this address

I'm keep track of the places I like on trip, as I believe that I'm the only one reading my reviews. Basic but good tapas. Infinite list of wines from all over the world at affordable prices. Good advice and good service.

No Mayonnaise :) :)

WOW! where to start. Our last night in NYC and we had been hoping to get into an another restaurant, so glad we didn't or we would have missed out. Once seated by our friendly hostess Lauren introduced herself and gave use the menu and wine list , she also wanted to know what we liked in terms of style and then made some suggestions, which got is into further discussions , then she left us to look at the wine list ! what list, it includes the worlds greatest footballer , having digested the list or tried to, Lauren came back and we made selection using her input (there are over 100 wines by the glass), I may go OTT over her knowledge and abilities, he's a star. To kick things off we had the Brussels Sprouts and chorizo really good, then followed it up with Gnocchi and a burger. I am a fan of the Italian potato dish and it was spot on, my wife had the burger which she declared to be the best she had had in a long time, however they had no mayo to go with the fries :) which surprised us because of the Dutch connection , you need to visit to find out what it is. We had a great conversation with Paul the owner who sat with us for a while which added to the evening he's a great guy, hopefully there will be Mayo on the soon. If I had to pick one place to go back to in NYC it would be here.

Wines and great music

By Vincent V |

Stumbled upon this place and immediately knew I would like it: the sound system was playing 80's new wave. The wine list is impressively long, but you can just trust The General himself, and you will not be disappointed. This guy knows wine as he does music, soccer and the universe.

Excellent Bar

By le5691 |

We came here for dinner but I believe it mainly caters to a bar crowd. Everything we ordered, and we ordered a lot, was excellent. I personally don't like spicy food and most of the food was spicy. Also, it was very noisy.

Cool place but busy

By PT |

This is a good place to grab a drink but annoyingly they were out of a lot of the wine we wanted and we weren't massively impressed with the one we tried. The food was ok, random but ok. Sharing plates were small but great quality. The place has a great atmosphere but is really really crowded. One to try.

Vino in TriBeCa

By lastresortname |

The staff is the best. They make you feel at home .. They know their wine as well . They love offering tastes of different wines before you order. I love this place. The meatball sandwiches used to be my favorite, but they changed the bread to an inferior bread. If they go back to the Sullivan street or gran daisy bread it will make a world of difference. They have fresh oysters, great cheeses, nice fried chicken and other dishes. I highly recommend

Cool and Noisy place

By StephanK723 |

As written in some articles the concept of terroir is almost on the verge to become mainstream, but nevertheless it deserves the 5 stars for changing American wine culture for the better. We were 6 people and had the chance to sample Rieslings (sorry, Germany (2010 Christmann Idig GG) won by far), Pinot Noirs, Malvasia, Semillon and Syrah with my WOTN from New Zeeland. We ended the night with a beautiful Chateau Musar 2011. Food was yummy, too. And the music was a little loud (they turned it down, after we inquired), but it was a great evening after all.

What a Great Time

By John P |

The largest wine selection by the glass I have ever seen in any restaurant anywhere in the world. Outstanding Riesling selection- over 35 by the glass- not even sure how its possible! The charcuterie plate- at least 4-5 meats and 7 cheeses was insane. Best of all was our server- I cant believe I forgot her name- she and her partner (both girls) were amazing- I wish I could remember her- she awesome! (Maybe Emily?)

Great casual wine bar with delicious small plates

By anya7553 |

The team here are friendly and extremely knowledgeable about their wines. We enjoyed a delicious Gruner Veltliner. The dishes we ordered were pork belly sliders, short rib hash, fried oysters on bacon jam, deviled eggs, roasted Brussels sprouts and a cheese and charcuterie platter where you can select your cheeses and meats. The only mediocre dish was the deviled eggs. The atmosphere is casual and friendly with background music that is at a perfect level, you can hear it but it doesn't interfere with conversation. A definite "keeper" for repeat visits since their menu changes with the season.

Seriously good

By Richard W |

Private wine tasting for 8 people in their private room downstairs before dinner. A fantastic wine list, at reasonable prices too with great knowledge provided by the staff. The cheese selection is also brilliant. Great hosting and service throughout. Would strongly recommend to anyone!

Relaxing good time

I love wine tasting. The staff are great about listening to your preference and helping you discover new loves.

Love the feel of this place. The selection of food wine and craft beer is fabulous. The loud buzz and crowd feels like you've discovered a hidden gem.

Fun & Fabulous Wine Bar

By SueBlue962 |

My son lives right around the corner from Terroir and so he suggested we meet there one Friday when I was in the city for a very fine wine list and oyster selection. Last minute, he could not meet us, but my daughter and I went anyway. We sat in their enclosed area outside because it was too crowded for me inside. It was a little chilly, but luckily we were both dressed appropriately. Our waitress was a little too funky for me, but was very knowledgeable about all their wines and the menu. We started off with the suggested wines (list was too overwhelming for me and was happy to let her choose after hearing our likes and dislikes) and selected some oysters on our own that were old favorites and/or we had not tasted before. Followed by more wine and snacks like popcorn, Arancini, breads and spreads, and Burrata. We ordered one more glass of wine to accompany the dessert we split and then moved on to our next stop for the night. My favorite was the Arancini and the oysters. Definitely, a great place to start or end your evening, but for me it was a fun & fabulous place to spend a happy hour"s" for my daughter and I.

The ultimate Tribecca wine bar

By ab-stew |

Beautiful wine bar in Tribecca, lovely wine selection with friendly staff. The food was exceptional and the staff were very knowledgeable. If you’re in the area you must stop by.

You expect better tbh

By pritesh3235 |

Pretty disappointed tbh. The wine was average at best and the fried nibbles were average. Average, average, average

Great WIne Bar

By Kelly D |

End up here pretty much every time I'm in NYC, big eclectic and interesting wine list by the glass. I am a wine snob/wine geek, hence I always ask the bartenders what they suggest, and they've never lead me astray. Also the food is pretty good.

We Got Here!!!

By Scott W |

During the full onset of the Pandemic, when almost all of the NYC restaurants were closed, or very limited dining experiences, we took an online Wine class with Paul. We loved the class so much, we HAD to get back to the City when things started opening up. Perfect weekend get-a-way, including a birthday celebration, getting to come to Terrior for a great wine adventure, and meeting Paul in person. Full 5 start - well worth the visit...can't say more than that - except, our main host for the evening was Clyve. Great form, understood what we needed, gave his picks/recommendations whenever we asked for something new. Truly made our trip to NYC all the better!!

Outstanding wine bar

By mandhLancs_England |

I chose to visit this place on a quiet Monday evening, with my wife, on a quick trip to NYC from UK largely on the strength of its recommendation in Decanter magazine and we were not disappointed. We love Riesling wines and this place has over 100 wines by the glass 30 of which are generally Riesling (it also caters very well to Pinot Noir lovers ) We started with a flight of 5 Rieslings with advice from the very helpful lady behind the bar which were all very good, progressed to J.J. Prun Kabinett and Spatlese at which point the gregarious and engaging owner Paul appeared and we started chatting about wine, life , UK and European soccer - Spurs, Harry Kane and Ajax in particular -and St.Andrews, Scotland amongst many things. We then had a glass of Auslese and Paul produced something totally unexpected - a dessert wine from Majorca. The wine menu with humorous and opinionated comments alongside many wines is great in itself, the atmosphere was great, chatting to Paul was amazing as we had similar views on many things. If I was to own a wine bar, I would love to do it Paul's way, choose to sell wines you love and you and your staff can enthuse about, not following the crowd with a standard list. Having said that, there is something there for everybody, not just Riesling and Pinot Noir lovers. Would definitely visit again when we next come to NYC Thanks Paul for a great evening

Brilliant wine bar

By RussS62 |

Really as a wine bar it difficult to improve this place. Good choice of by the glass wines means you can have a little tasting, not by any means basic choices. They even change them if you don't get on with something. Very good cheese plate too. My only thing would be the music which is very loud but I enjoyed it.

Never again

By Eli |

I went to Terroir on Mon night with a friend of mine, we came to have some wine more than an hour before closing, not too late. They were already wrapping up the bar, rushed us to order and it felt like we were not welcomed. The service was surprisingly rude for Tribeca. I don't go there anymore and I'll make sure my friends don't go there either.

Great for appetizers and drinks

By SFTRVLR |

We stopped by on a July weekend afternoon just for a quick drink and appetizer (and to escape the heat and humidity!). They have SO many drink options- beer, wine, cocktails- that they have a HUGE binder of them all. An incredible selection. And the appetizers were really good- especially the wings- SO big and so delicious- can't figure out the magic of the sauce but it was incredible. Also the gourmet pigs in blankets were tasty. And the server was super friendly and knowledgable. Great place (and they have outdoor seating too). highly recommend.

Awesome wine list

By parisbt |

Great wine list. Seats are a little uncomfortable, but the wine choices are great. Had a Turley Estates which was delicious. Also the deviled eggs and the fried chicken were incredible. Highly recommend.

Cozy Italian wine bar with great meatballs in Tribeca

By christian m |

Cozy location. High benches, old stained wood and steel. Feels like a cross between steampunk and French cafe. Excellent wine list and very tasty tapas style portions. The highlights are meatballs that would make Michael Chernow drool. The Farrow salad is delicious Good, hearty, raisin and nut-filled, brown bread and light, crispy ciabatta. There are a fried mozzarella balls in a light dusting of marinara that are pretty tasty. The donuts drizzled with caramel and powdered sugar at the end - fresh, hot out of the fryer are good too. This all sounds heavy and bar food-esque but the taste and presentation are light and sophisticated. Because of the location it can be a lil banker heavy but the crowd is mostly young and attractive.

My favorite wine bar in NY

By 680eric |

Extensive wine list from around the world. Service was fast. Kyle the wine director was wonderful and enthusiastic about their wines and suggested wines for us to sample. Experience was rounded up by being able to chat with the owner Paul. Not a pretentious spot as some wine bars can be. A must go if you are a wine lover.

Stop and smell the rosé

By 1802atothek |

Fantastic recommendation from a friend. Loved this cozy non pretentious wine bar in Tribeca especially during happy hour. Service was impeccable. All the servers were very knowledgeable and spoke to you like a normal person - no snobbery here. Lots of open seating and good mix of high and low tables available. Went at opening (1600) so no reservations required. The place did pack out and some of the larger tables will be shared with other parties. Incredible selection of wines by the glass - a bit heavy on the Riesling list for my liking. Oysters on selection were better than some of the other neighboring bars who have a similar happy hour offer. Would certainly recommend for a tipple.

Most unique wine bar I've been too

By vincetruong |

I had two and a half days in Manhattan on a layover. I'm a wine nerd. Could have gone to many different wine bars. Came here twice and nowhere else. If you're a wine enthusiast or not, the knowledge and passion of the staff will impress. Talking to the owner, Paul, was a blast. Very reasonable pricing and very, very unique menu that is great reading as a textbook, editorial, and toasting notes of the wines on the menu.

Great little place to hide out

By Derek R |

We rolled in for a drink and a nibble. It was the perfect stop. The drinks were perfectly served by a great staff. They were very helpful on selections. We also tried the snap peas with feta. That was a great snack. The wings were also a nice bite. We will definitely be stopping in again.

Great food and good collection of whiskey too!

By MJB1104 |

Great place for a happy hour that can transition to dinner. They have a wide collection of wine and a full bar --- including Japanese whiskeys such as Yamazaki and Hakushu so there will be a drink for everyone. The food were delicious too -- we had oysters, chips, spicy chicken wings, burgers, prawn tempura but the best were the pork belly sliders. The place was nice and lively but not very noisy so it was just right. The service was good too. We will definitely go back!

Excellent wine bar with eclectic choices

By Harry R |

Very much enjoyed the experience. The wine choice by glass was outstanding with a variety of high quality and unusual offerings. The accompanying food was tasty and served as a nice accompaniment to the wine. If you’re into wine the Terroir is a must.

Just OK

By Ihearttravel100 |

I like going specifically to wine bars because I’d like to try and learn about different wines, and hope to get staff that are knowledgeable and can educate me. When I started asking questions, the guy waiting on us seemed like it was a bother to help us pick a wine. Then, a woman came over to help us, and she was a little more helpful, but still neither of them suggested things that were any good. I know it’s all personal taste, but didn’t feel like it was a place I would rush back to.

We had a blast

By Dan K |

Service was remarkably attentive but not intrusive. Accommodated our seating desires and was generally pleasant and informative. The food was fresh, inventive and a delight. Worthy enough on its own but the star of the evening, of course, was the wine. An incredible assortment of by the glass features and my time spent during the "Summer of Riesling" was fantastic. Come in a good mood and stay that way.

Excellent for wine tasting!

By RodolfoS1910 |

Excellent for wine tastings!, great variety of wines from mostly Europe and USA. Great to try new styles. Some new world wine in the mix would be welcome.

extensive wine, quirky menu, good food and service

By TravelsbyAZ |

Went on a Sunday night for some wine and small plates. Was not disappointed. Plenty of wine choices, waitress was knowledgeable and helpful with wine, charcuterie and cheese selection. 2 glass of wine, one plate of charcuterie and cheese came to about $46 which is not cheap. Ambience is good wonder what it would be on a thu or sat night. I Recommend and I would return if in the area again

Disappointed

By cdcdml94 |

My husband and I stopped here based on the reviews. It was a complete let down. My husband and I have been drinking red wine for many years and are thus familiar with taste and quality etc. The "taste" glass was not worth the price and we new we wanted more than one glass so it made more sense to buy a bottle. We did not recognize one bottle of red wine on the menu; there must have been at least 50 bottles of red. There was no description for any of the wines to help you make a selection and there was not a bottle(at least from what we could see) that was under $75. We weren't looking to blow a ton of cash at a wine bar. I know you are in Manhattan, we are very familiar with Manhattan prices as we have lived in NY our whole lives. But this was over the top. I would even call it pretentious. We asked our young waiter if there was a bottle for say $50-$60 which again was more than we would typically would spend on a bottle of wine unless we were at a nice dinner. He brought over a bottle that was not good. He then brought over another bottle which again was not good. He told us in that price range there wasn't much of a selection...seriously? Like dummies we bought the bottle, not sure why, our mistake. It was so bad that by the end I could not finish my glass, it tasted like vinegar. You would think such an "upscale" (more like stuck up) wine bar would not serve something of such poor quality. Way to keep customers coming back. And the place wa totally casual, nothing fancy about it...at all. So, unless you feel like spending $80-$125 a bottle on "good" wine (I say good because if a $60 bottle was awful then I am sure an $80-100 bottle would just be average) then find another wine bar. We have been to several in the city and have never run into this problem. Total disappotment.

First rate first experience at this lively and charming wine bar

By BBinSEA |

I visited Terroir Tribeca for dinner on Saturday, February 27th and I had a terrific time. Jonathan, the very capable and engaging bartender, was a superb guide to the evening. His wine and food recommendations, notably the pairing of the two, were spot-on and he shared a wealth of knowledge about the wines he was pouring. The atmosphere is inviting and lively; the vibe was really great and never felt oppressive as more and more people came in. And the patrons at the bar were fun and affable folks; I had a great time meeting and visiting with several of them. I found the menu and wine list to offer very good value with plenty of reasonably priced food and wines by the glass. This would likely be 'my place' if I lived in New York, but I'm happy to be an 'out-of-town regular' when I visit.

Food and wine? Amazing. Service? The best we’ve ever had.

By DylanHM |

Honestly we were absolutely blown away by the amazing food and wine, but what made our visit truly special was the insanely good service we received from Jessica. Both of us left saying that we’ve never had better service in our lives. We felt truly special, and that’s entirely down to Jessica. Thank you giving this recently married couple a dinner to remember. ❤️

Amazing wine list and great tapa style of food

By joskeversmissen |

This is thé place to be in NYC for wine lovers and certainly if you love Riesling! The wine list is just great fun, so many less known wines from all over the world, very well chosen. Coming from Portugal, we were very pleased to see wines from Madeira, Bairrada, Colares, and much more on the list. The food is pretty amazing too, nice to share with the friends. Ask some different dishes, just put them in the middle of the table and share. Prices are very reasonable, music and service are great!
