Made reservations for a group of 12 for my birthday dinner. The table was big enough for everyone. The ambiance was very nice and quiet probably because we went on a Sunday after 9. It’s a bit expensive but nothing we couldn’t handle. Food was also good.

The staff is very friendly and the place is great with premium food. People like to have a drink at the bar. Very good location at the 42nd street Chrysler Building.

This recently relocated restaurant is now in the Metro Building, with an expanded new & clean presence, no longer at 42nd street. Most likely given its location next to the train station, during the week it will be packed. There is seating outside too. We had a half dozen of blue point oysters ($23) and they were very good. We each had a 14 oz New York strip ($72, & for air dried aged $68). Creamed Spinach & Sautéed Spinach ($8/ea) both very good. Service was excellent. We ordered a wine that they couldn't find, but ultimately came up with it..."birthing pains of a new location. The Steaks also had to be sent back as to raw for a medium raw request...but learning new kitchen equipment is probably the reason. The Air Conditioning still needs to be adjusted. Our server "Barry" was wonderful and personable! We enjoyed our dining experience here & will return.

the food is good but service is bad, very bad, also don't go in the winter as it is freezing in the restaurant, we asked to increase heat 3 times - they didn't, everyone had to put on a warm jacket. when service was bad we asked for a manager, he never showed up. if they don't care one shouldn't go there when u pay a $100 per person u expect better service and definitely not to freeze.

Walked in early in the evening and got the last place at the bar. A little crowded but the bar man made me welcome. Steak was excellent. Sides were good. Had a half order of fries and Brussels. So why only 4 and not 5. Well then Brussels were a little runny. The fries were not as hot as I liked (perfectly edible though). So not quite a 5 but still pretty good. I’d go back.

The food and service at this restaurant set the bar. You can't imagine better steak and lobster and a finer dining experience. If you want to treat yourself to a truly elegant and delicious meal, this is your place.

We had a beautiful reunion with friends from abroad. The staff were attentive, upbeat, and fun to kid around with. The various steaks and seafood items we had were beautifully prepared, and the drinks were perfect as well. A real treat for all, including the New Yorkers!

Have gone 2 times recently Went with Mike for his birthday dinner and ranger game. We had a great meal with great service Last night I went with chris and brian Steven the waiter was excellent and the meal which was Caesar salad ,tuna new england clam chowder All were fair For dinner Chris had a filet that came out very undercooked I had a porterhouse which came out to well done. Brian had a perfect strip Go figure Would come back.

Wonderful place to eat. Steaks are so tender. Staff extremely attentive. Would highly recommend a visit while in New York. It is pricey but worth it.

The restaurant is a traditional stake house very common in NYC however little bit outdated (especially the waitress outfits) . service was very good and the meat was tasty but nothing extraordinary. i was surprised that most of the mainstream beers were out of stock. prices are not cheep but you get good quality of meet and service.

I have eaten here several times but my friends have not. I suggested Capital Grille during NYC Restaurant Week. All four of us arrived at the same time and host was able to seat us immediately. I asked for a quieter section of the restaurant since the front is very noisy. Our table looked out on 42 Street. Our waitress came over immediately and asked if we wanted drinks. One of my companions politely asked her to return in about 10 minutes-which she did. We all decided not to have drinks. All four of us ordered the wedge salad. Three of us ordered the 14 ounce steak and the other companion ordered the salmon. Bread was brought to our table and the rolls were warm and delicious. Our wedge salads were very good. Our steaks as well as the salmon were cooked correctly. The side dishes of string beans and potatoes had a nice flavor. We all ordered the flourless chocolate cake for dessert-cake was very rich in taste. My friends enjoyed their meal here and thought it was a bargain for restaurant week. They will be returning here to enjoy the food and excellent service.

I wouldn’t go here for dinner just based on the fact that it’s a chain and NYC has way too much to offer. However, as far as work lunches go, it’s on point. It’s nice, busy and perfect for an afternoon meeting. The food was actually better than I remembered at other Capital Grill locations I’ve been to. They cooked my steak to perfection and it was seasoned appropriately. The lobster bisque was tasty but a little too much on the cool side. The brussel sprouts were the big surprise of the day...super good.

We had our Thanksgiving dinner here and sadly the food was just OK fine. First, we waited 20 minutes past our reservation time to be seated. Not a huge deal, but with small kids who want to eat, every minute counts! :) Our Waiter JB was fantastic and very St tentative despite the fully house. Definitely fantastic service. We all had the pre-fixed Thanksgiving Dinner with the exception of one kid (she wanted steak). The menu allowed guests to select a soup or salad, turkey or fish and pumpkin cheesecake or apple tart. The food was just “ehh” and definitely made me want to run home and whip up what I traditionally make. The turkey was a little dry and the dessert was tasteless and disappointingly cold. (I had the apple tart). We added Brussel sprouts (additional charge) to our order and it was the best part of the meal. Additionally, we weren’t told that when you order a “kids” meal, it is served al a carte like the adult menu. We had to give our steak eater sides off our plates to make her a meal. Overall, nice evening, but skip it for a holiday like Thanksgiving. Visit when I’m the mood for steak.

Been here 2-3 times for business lunch. Always a Great experience. Service is as good as it gets. Everyone is professional and friendly, they are very attentive and understand about time constraints if there are any. The food is perfect - the only thing I can think of as a criticism is that the menu could be a bit more adventurous. Also this is a pricey place but you probably knew that already. Honestly would not spend my own money here. The steaks are done right. Lobster bisque - flavorful and nice chunk of lobster in it. I had Tuna Nicoise and it delicious. Somebody ordered the 16 oz bone in Filet Mignon - nice steak. No room for desert. Great place for a business lunch on the East side.

The steak here is always the star of the show, but the crabcakes shouldn't be ignored. Amazing attentive service, and all the little details are looked after. Wine list is surprisingly limited, and grossly overpriced. Markup on bottles is extortionate. Even a $2 bottle of San Pellegrino water is $7.50 here. The major drawback is the noise level. You have to scream at your table companions to be heard. It ruins an otherwise excellent experience. (You know it's bad when you have to step out onto 42nd Street for some quiet.)

I visited with my wife for an evening meal. We both had the wagyu steak and it was excellent. Many years ago I had a steak at the Waterlot Inn, Bermuda, and ever since I have made a comparison: this equalled it. Not cheap at $90, but you only live once. Great service, nice surroundings. Definitely recommended.

I have had friends and family rave about Capital Grille, but only just recently gave it a go. Terrific atmosphere, food perfectly prepared, and service second to none. Our server Steven R. was all anyone could want in an attentive, yet unobtrusive server. Every selection we had was right on point. Highly recommended.

We ate at this restaurant on New Year’s Eve and what a good choice we made. From the moment we sat down we were thoroughly looked after by our lovely waiter Miquel. He was so friendly, and very professional. A great employee for this restaurant. We decided not to have starters and just ordered main courses and thank goodness we did as the portions are very big but the food is outstanding! The steaks are amazing and cooked to perfection. We did mange a few desserts too which were also delicious. Thank you Capital Grille and special thanks to Miguel for looking after us. Definitely recommend this restaurant!!

I was pleased to discover that this restaurant offers seafood in addition to steak. The entrees are ala carte, but the sides are generous enough to share. The wine by the glass is very well priced. Desserts sounded tempting, but we were too full to try any. Service was exemplary. I will definitely stop here for dinner on my future visit to NYC.

This was a wonderful place to have a meet up . I went there with 20 woman and we had a great evening, The food, drink and service was great. The variety of food was great. I would definitely return . I thought it was going to be hectic and overwhelming because the location but it was a Saturday evening. The train is convenient and there is parking right in front he door after 7pm. Thumbs up for Capital Grille

This is a nice place to eat. They called to confirm my reservation the day before. The staff were very warm and welcoming from start to finish. The lovely ladies at the front desk checked our coats. In regards to this, I highly recommend wearing a sweater because it can get chilly for some when you are seated in the back near the windows. Brian was our server. He was very attentive to us. The bread selection was versatile and good. To start, I had the roasted beet and goat cheese salad with crushed pistachios and citrus vinaigrette along with the creamed spinach, shrimp cocktail and seared tenderloin with butter poached lobster tails. My mom had the lobster mac n cheese. I really enjoyed the salad, shrimp cocktail and surf n turf combo. The lobster mac n cheese was okay, but I will say that there are other places that can cook this a little better though. My take on it is that it was a little dry and needed more seasoning. All in all, good food and great service. I hope they reopen the one in FiDi so I can eat there again soon.

Celebrating our anniversary at The Capital Grille on Park Avenue was an exceptional experience, thanks to our amazing server, Corey. From the moment we arrived, Corey made us feel like VIPs with his warm greeting and genuine enthusiasm. Throughout the evening, he was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring everything was perfect. The ambiance was elegant and inviting, providing the ideal backdrop for our special night. The food was superb, with each dish beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. Corey’s service was impeccable, adding personal touches that made our celebration even more memorable. We are grateful to Corey and the entire team at The Capital Grille for making our anniversary unforgettable. We look forward to returning to this wonderful restaurant.

Service is top! But, too frequent asking how everything tastes, one time should be enough as it disturbs the flow, but typical US way. Food very good, and fast to the table. Interior is very pleasing adding to a good feeling while dining. Business meetings can be tough in the somewhat loud environment but that is part of a vibrant environment.

I booked this for a Saturday evening at short notice to celebrate my 50th birthday with my wife and daughter as we were visiting New York from the UK. It was very convenient being located across from the Westin at Grand Central. Service was great (young man called Taras) very attentive and engaging but not over bearing. I had the rib-eye on the bone and it's possibly the best steak I've ever had and I've dined in quality meat restaurants throughout the world. My wife had the fillet and loved it and they even cooked a burger for my fussy teenage daughter. I will definitely be back next time in NYC.

4 friends visiting The Capital Grille for dinner had a drink at the lovely bar first served by a very friendly and efficient young lady then we were brought to our table we asked if we could move to the other side of the restaurant and it was not a problem. All our starters and mains were delicious ( lobster & crab cakes are to die for ) sides were also very tasty and we were advised that 2/3 Would be more than enough and he was correct . My second visit and not disappointed .

Came with Mike for his birthday hockey game dinner. It was excellent. Mike had the bone in filet which was a massive amount of steak. It was very good. I had the Caesar salad and I had the chicken with mushroom risotto which was excellent. Service by Mikel was superb. Very good night.

Love it here! Went to dinner with friends here for the first time last night and I would definitely recommend it to everyone. The customer service is so good the waiters are so nice and accommodating. The food taste so good I truly believe Jesus himself mashed those potatoes. I have officially moved this up to the #1 spot on my list of fine dinning restaurants. If you’re going on a date and want to impress them or even celebrating this is the go to place.

Crab cakes to start were amazing The steak was excellent and truffle fries. Steve our waiter was also great This place is my 1st evening meal when back in nyc.

I had a great pre-bday celebration here. From the appetizer to main course were absolutely perfect. The calamari and lobster/crab cake were delicious. Mouth watering steak was really recommendable. The staff were great and accomodation. Till next visit NYC

Service was great and the steaks were awesome. I highly recommend this Capital Grill when In NYC. Everyone was accomodating.

Visited capital on the day of the snowstorm. Amazed that it was packed. We ordered the NY strip and the filet. Along with spinach and mash. The filet was amazing- ideally cooked and it melted in the mouth. The mash was great - as it had loads of butter!! Overall a good experience

Went here as part of a group of 10 and twice during the evening the fire alarm went off- as this was extremely loud it rather interrupted our evening. There was little information the first time it happened and none the second which was a little disconcerting. This is a big place and we didnt find the service to be that great, we had to wait a long time for drinks and once dishes had arrived the waiter was nowhere to be seen. Wine list is on an ipad but despite this vintages were not kept current which is poor. Several of us had steak and we all enjoyed the flavour of the meat and mostly it was presented as ordered, only my medium rare was somewhat overdone and was more medium/well. Rare and Blue came as ordered. Fish was also somewhat overcooked. Would not rush back.

The food and wait staff were over the top. We started with the lobster bisque with whole chunks of lobster claw and a French onion soup, we also had the 6oz Fillet with the mini lobster tails, cut filet with onions and mushrooms, the expresso encrusted steak was out of this world.. all steaks were cook from black n blue to medium rare and were cooked to perfection as we ordered them, for sides we had the lobster Mac n cheese had chunks of claw meat, potatoes , and the soy Brussel sprouts in bacon, the were amazing. The cocktails.were also on point with a very extensive wine list would recommend for a date night or special evening

Fantastic service, delicious & generous portions! Very personable, friendly & attentive staff! Our waiter, John Silva was wonderful, as was Alex Hayes, the Manager! We had our 2nd Anniversary Dinner here as well! We'll definitely be back next year!

Attentive staff. Beautiful restaurant. Fabulous food. The table had been tastefully decorated for a birthday. The waiter spent time explaining the menu and, in particular, the steaks and how they could be cooked. He went through a selection from the wine list that would be suitable for our taste and choice of meal. I had oysters, fillet steak and strawberries. All were beautifully served and delicious. Wine was divine.

We have wanted to dine at a Capital Grille for some time, and finally had the chance last weekend. Elegant atmosphere, outstanding service, and exceptional cuisine. Nothing more to ad.

The prices at the NYC Capital Grille are quite high and seem geared to businesspeople on an expense account. (We were on our own dime.) The food was good, but not great, but the one bright spot was our waiter, Reed Wood. She was efficient, pleasant, and helpful in recommending a well-priced wine that was excellent. With all of the excellent choices in NYC I wouldn't recommend this restaurant, but if you do go, make sure you sit in Reed's section!

Great business dinner. Good selection, great wine, good steak. Pretty room. Service was subpar though. Very expensive.

We were treated to a night at The Capital Grille by family when we visited NYC recently and what an exceptional meal it was. I had the New York strip (well what else could I choose?) and it was truly the best steak I have ever tasted - and I've tasted more than a few! Service was great too, and we chose the wine pairing to accompany the food which gave us a variety of 7 wines. My only regret.....I didn't buy a set of (the superb and weighty) steak knives when I was there. Almost impossible to get them online and would have been much easier to purchase on site.

We wanted a quiet and quality meal on our last night in NYC and we got it! This restaurant is a bit old school which suits us perfectly. The music is quiet and mellow, the seating is spacious. After a very noisy week in the city we were so happy to find this restaurant. Equally important was the food quality; we prefer seafood and the tuna was prepared absolutely perfectly (I ordered as rare as they would allow and it was rare!). The scallops succulent. The beet salad was the best I've ever had.

As usual Capital Grille offers the finest food and beverages with great service. Everything is consistently done with the customer in mind. Treat yourself by going there.

Our family reunion dinner at Capital Grille Crysler Center was pitch-perfect. Manny Guzman, our waiter, was supurb in every way. My wife and I ordered the shrimp and crabcake appetiser as our entree. It was an amazing choice...sure to bring us back again soon. Manny was particularly attentive to our 8 year old granddaughter. We look forward to another event at Capital Grille Chrysler Center.

Told we need to wait over 40 minutes after they accepted a reservation. Pretty poor management. Pretty simple to not accept any reservations instead of pissibg regular customers off

Is this the best Steakhouse in Manhattan? In my view Yes.i have been at Capital Grille many times and never been disappointed. Been to most steakhouses in Manhattan and with mixed impressions. Therefore I do not make reviews of steakhouses if I haven't been thete twice. Yes, prices are on the high end, but do is the quality and service. Several starters to chose in between but the French Onion Soup is outstanding. The steaks are wonderful and cooked to perfection. The sides are quality as well but my favourite is the potato gratin. I often eat alone and then the bar at Capital Grille is a perfect place to dine. The bartender Dan always has got time to talk and treat all guests very professional. Same food here as in the restaurant. I will come back many times

This was our first time in the USA during thanksgiving and we wanted something special so I booked a table at this restaurant. We were greeted very warm and friendly, the food was very delicious and out of this world. The wine list is extensive with very good wines.

I attended a business dinner with 6 others at the restaurant and evening was spectacular. I arrived early and was treated great by the bar staff. We then were shown to our table where Michael took care of us. His service was also superb. Our entire table was impressed by his skill and effort. Finally the food was the only thing that overmatched the service. Coupling our steaks with an excellent bottle of Argentinian Malbec and shared sides, we all ate wonderfully! PS The coconut cream pie was the perfect end the meal. Highly recommended!!

I had high hopes when I visited The Capital Grille on a recent Saturday evening but sadly my optimism was misplaced. Firstly, I ordered the scallops having been recommended them by my waiter, only for him to return to tell me that they had run out earlier in the evening. Secondly, when I was delivered the bread basket with several types of bread and asked which contained nuts as an ingredient, I was told only one of the breads at first. Then the waiter advised me not to have any bread at all and finally, having been pushed to check with the chef, said all but one of them contained nuts and he offered me only a depressing bowl of bread sticks (without contrition). When I informed the manger, the bread 'magically' stopped containing nuts and I lived to tell the tale. The only food that the chefs could find in the cupboards I wish they hadn't. The tiny clam chowder was offensively unremarkable: overly thick and lacking any freshness. The lobster crab cakes were palatable, if oddly bland, but were inexplicably served with a larger mound of tasteless corn dumped on a solitary lettuce leaf. Maybe *traditional American* customers visiting in groups will be afforded a better front of house experience, but sadly that won't do anything to mitigate the lackluster efforts in the kitchen...

Excellent meal! You have to have a steak when in NYC and this really is up there with the best. Highly recommend the tenderloin with lobster tails...simply gorgeous. Our waiter Barry was also superb! Thanks for a great meal.

Located in the heart of midtown, Capital Grill is a great place to have lunch. The dining room is large and can accommodate buisness meeting or family gathering. For lunch, the French Onion soup and grilled octopus were good choices as appetizers. The entrees are all great chocies. The service was great.

My husband and daughters took me to the Capital Grille for my birthday dinner last night. Where do I begin..... from the time we walked in until the time we left, we received fabulous service. Upon arriving at our table, it was a great surprise that the table was decorated for my birthday with confetti hearts and a handwritten birthday card from the restaurant. It was so touching and thoughtful. Then we were greeted by our waiter, Barry Swain. Barry was phenomenal. He immediately wished me a happy birthday and welcomed us to dinner. What I loved about Barry was that he was excellent with my children and took such good care making sure they were satisfied. Barry made excellent suggestions and we decided on the cowboy tomahawk with the creamed spinach, mashed potatoes and lobster macaroni and cheese. The steak was like butter.... melted in our mouths. Actually, my mouth is watering as I am writing this. I want to eat it again right now!! The steak was so tender and the taste was delicious- the best I have ever had. The sides- well let’s just say that there was not one drop of food left. We cleaned the plates. The macaroni and cheese was superb. The creamed spinach and mashed potatoes were divine. I normally do not like when there is skin in my mashed potatoes but these were absolutely delicious. We were so full and decided to pass on dessert because we had such a great meal. However, I was pleasantly surprised that Barry, instead of just bringing the check, brought over a birthday dessert plate and two glasses of champagne, all complimentary, to celebrate my birthday. Besides the surprise, it was so extremely thoughtful and such good customer service, on top of outstanding food!! Of course, even though we were so stuffed and I told Barry he would have to roll us out of the restaurant, we even devoured the delicious dessert! I highly recommend the Capital Grille. They are top notch and I rate them in the top among the finest restaurants. I have been to many fine restaurants and this one is far superior. We are already planning our next visit back. It will be very soon. Thank you Capital Grille and Barry for making my birthday dinner one of the best I have ever had.

WOW. We book this place last minute (OpenTable - booked at 7pm for table at 815pm). Arrived and were shown to the table. Our waiter was James M who was absolutely amazing. My wife is pregnant (everything has to be well done) so he recommended the steaks to have (RibEye) and I went for the Porterhouse. I am very critical of steaks (father is a master butcher so I was brought up on good meat not supermarket stuff) and both steaks were amazing. Lovely taste and cooked just right. Throughout the whole meal James did everything he could to make the dining experience perfect. The meal wasn't cheap (if I recollect the steaks were $62 and $52) but the whole experience was value for money. I have paid more for much worse. So if you want a good steak and don't mind paying for it, and having great service then I would go here! We would certainly go back next time we are in NYC.

Outdoor seating was very spacious- very comfortable for 4 people to eat and enjoy the delicious steaks that we had. The NY Strip was grilled to perfection- very juicy and absolutely delicious. My cousin enjoyed the filet mignon and dad had the Rib Eye. The field green salad and all of the sides (asparagus, creamed spinach and mashed potatoes were very tasty. The only downside- quite pricey and steaks would be even better if they were boneless- it would enable people to savor it more We look forward to dining with you again

I have dined at this location multiple times. This Friday night was by far my worst experience. I was there for the last night of restaurant week, hoping to treat myself after a long week. Anne the bartender was Amazing and everything else was just awful. I ordered a Sirloin, but a filet came out? I was willing to eat the filet as I don't like to complain or waste food. Took a bite of the filet COLD. At that point the person I was with made me send it back! about 20 minutes later my sirloin came out. Now my sides are cold. No offer of new sides. Just an overall bad experience. For the price I except a better experience.

What a pleasant surprise, was hesitate due to it being a chain, but my steak was excellent. Ordered the 22 oz ribeye with a glass of red wine and was set. Everything was good, my wife had the lobster soup with big chunks of lobster which really made it good. Ended with a nice coffee and cake. Would definitely return.

Went to the capital Grille in the Rockefeller centre New York on Sunday the 22nd of May for my Wife’s birthday , there was 6 of us the whole evening was fantastic , We were met by Rob who looked after us with such professionalism and such a kind nature would recommend highly great food , hosting and ambience great evening

My husband and I had dinner here on Honeymoon. We sat at the bar and shared a large steak, cooked beautifully, fries and a salad and a bottle of red wine. Everything was delicious. Our bartender was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, recommended whiskeys for my husband and gave us a free dessert as a congratulations for our wedding. Be even took us on a tour of the restaurant and showed us the private rooms with reserved wine bottles. It is on the more expensive side but with an extensive drinks menu and deliciously cooked food it is a meal we will always remember.

If you like thick, tender and juicy steaks, this is the place. I've been here during Restaurant Week several times and the food is excellent and they have great service. Even the burgers taste like prime rib. It's worth the trip.

Capital Grille is one of those fancier steak chains that are solid in both quality and service. They prepare their steaks well. Medium = medium, and medium rare = medium rare. i.e. you get exactly what you expect. Big fan of the rib eye. Great sides options as well.

Food was plentiful and delicious. Very pricey but worth every penny! Got the ribeye with crab meat lumps and other appetizers and it was all delicious! Get the coconut cream pie slice including a gigantic cookie!

Everything was perfect! John served me a fabulous mocktail while I waited for my friend. Then Tony provided first rate service during our meal. Loved that my friend and I could share the entree and sides.

It's clear we are in the center of Manhattan .. and everything relates to the place .. certainly it is an elegant place .. the quality of the good meat .. the other dishes average .. high prices .... too much waiting to receive meat dishes .. pay attention .. prefer cash .. strangely .... and to have the rest you have to insist a little '

The place has style. The staff were friendly and professional. The wine list is not extensive but offers value. The cooking is excellent. Share the main course as they are large. We really enjoyed the evening. From an English visitor point of view it’s an expensive evening but worth it.

Visited Capital Grill with three colleagues for drinks and apps. Our server was great. Helpful, friendly, responsive and open to us just having APPs and drinks. It helped make it an enjoyable evening.

We chose this steak house as we had never dined at a New York steak house and this was close to our hotel. We booked well in advance and we’re quickly seated in a quiet intimate booth on arrival. Service was excellent as were the cocktails (very strong) and a delicious wine from a reasonably priced cellar We both had steaks after an appetizer, they were perfectly cooled. Overall an excellent experience in a very good restaurant that I am happy to recommend

A very nice, traditional New York Steak house with great ambiance and very good steaks. If you are a tourist like looking family make sure you sit in the restaurant. The receptionist first wanted to seat us in the sports bar, next to the restaurant. Obviously she thought we only take a beer and share a portion of fresh fries. Same food, same prices but significantly less cozy and comfortable. Only after an explicit request we were offered a table in the restaurant, which was by far not fully booked on this Monday night. Everything else was great!

Our waiter was very friendly but we didn’t get the kind of service that I would expect from a Capital Grill. We visit Capital Grill in Atlanta very regularly and the food and service are both Excellent. In New York there were 6 of us at dinner and everyone loved their food. Several had a bone in ribeye and it was perfect. We ordered 2 appetizers to share at our table but they never arrived. If you try this Capital Grill, I do recommend the steaks and the Au gratin potatoes.

No doubts we loved our steaks and would go back tomorrow but didn't like how hard the server was pushing the more expensive items on the menu. Enjoyed our meal but left 15% instead of the usual 18% to 20% tip because of the attitude.

The Capital Grill is my favorite restaurant for steak au poivre. I've always been pleased with the food and service. Definitely the best in Manhattan.

It was the first time any of us had been there and it was a special occasion. We went at 1pm and it was a little loud it was still the lunch crowd. We had a perfect table in the corner for our group. Natalie was our server and she took special care of our co-worker who retired at the end of 2018. The food was great. If you are looking for the cheaper side to spend this is not it. If you are looking for great service and great food it is worth every penny! Go and Enjoy!!!

I would not have chosen to go to a chain restaurant in New York City, but I was pleasantly surprised. The capital Grille is large and modern looking. There are plenty of seats by the window on 42nd St. the food was outstanding. If you’re looking for a really good meal and don’t mind eatimg at a chain, I would definitely recommend it

The food is always fabulous here, the service is very professional, and it is actually possible to have a quiet conversation with your friends. What a treat!

This restaurant was just along from the Grand Hyatt & we nipped in for an early dinner. From the moment we arrived it was a great experience. the wait staff were attentive without rushing you. The food was superb ( although beware of the specials - ask the price as we ended up paying $292 for two of us! That aside it was an outstanding meal in a lovely environment just near the Chrysler building

Ate here in December during a visit from the UK with some friends that live in long island. Both me and my husband agreed that the steaks we had were the best we'd eaten for years. The service was excellent, very attentive waitress. The truffle fries were also great. Would recommend eating here!

We went for dinner during restaurant week. It was our first visit and we had reservations @ 7:30. The place was full so we had a drink at the bar while we waited. We were seated within 15-20 minutes. We really liked the ambiance and decor of the restaurant...very classy. Our server suggested the wine pairing (generous pour) and we were happy to oblige. We both ordered off the prix fixe menu. The meals were fantastic...each course did not disappoint, and the pairings worked very well. The quality of the food was great across the board from taste, presentation & temperature. Back to our server (Chris)...when you get a good one it can really enhance the dining experience and ours was great. Great attitude, good conversation and went out of his way to make sure he catered to "our" likes. It was a great evening and the favourite from this trip. We would certainly go back!

Following our last visit, which did not hit, the high notes of previous visits, we recently returned to The Capital and we were again delighted with the food and service. The restaurant manager, Alex, made a special effort to welcome us back and really looked after us. Based on this most recent visit, we will certainly be back. Great food, service and ambiance!

Capital Grille never disappoints. They had a card and table ready and waiting for my husband. The Stoli Doli was on point as well. They were able to cook one steak at two different temperatures, medium rare for me and well for him! Never hurts to ask! Lobster Mac and cheese to die for!

I chose The Capital Grille to celebrate the birthday of a dear friend from England and our spouses joined us. I too read the great reviews here and while my guests enjoyed their steaks (NY Strip, Rib Eye, and Filet Mignon) and the starters were good; caesar salads, a special Potato and Cheddar soup, and I had a superb crab cocktail with sparklingly fresh crab and delicious mustard sauce on the side, my $39 entree of 'Citrus Glazed Salmon' had little to no trace of citrus glaze or sauce and was overcooked and under-seasoned.. The sides were excellent, the usual creamed spinach, asparagus, and scalloped potatoes. The service while attentive was glacial! It took a half an hour to receive our drinks! It was disappointing that the bar couldn't accommodate the birthday boy's choice of gin, nor mine of vodka. The service throughout was so slow that without dessert, our 6:45 reservation (we were prompt) ended at 10 PM! The bill came to $444 plus an $80 tip, a whopping $524 dollars. There are better places for less. Honestlyl.

Stopped by Capital Grille last evening after opera at Lincoln Center. Sat at the bar & ordered glass of white wine & Roasted pear salad with Gorgonzola, candied walnuts, cranberries and prosciutto on top. Had a basket of flat breads on the side. 2 bartenders and serving staff very friendly, pleasant and efficient service. Will definitely return many times over. Love the menu

You get what you pay for, right? Not the cheapest grill/steak restaurant, but the service was excellent (thank you Steve!) and the food was perfect. We enjoyed a sharing starter of cast iron garlic shrimp in a ‘to die for’ sauce with giant croutons. To follow I had a perfect, melt-in-the-mouth fillet mignon and hubby enjoyed the bone in kona crusted NY strip. The Parmesan truffle fries were bliss too and should not be missed. Steve recommended, and let us try before ordering, a superb bottle of wine. I wish I could remember what it was because I would definitely order it again. Delicious. A fabulous dining experience.

Fantastic steak dinner. Superbly attentive service. Interesting cocktails and extensive wine list. Overall, an excellent experience.

We had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant tonight and were very well looked after by James and Fredrick. The meal was excellent, my husbands steak cooked perfectly and was huge. Great wine list to choose from also a full bar. Thanks for the dessert surprise it was very thoughtful and very delicious especially the chocolate portion. If we do have a chance to visit NYC again we will certainly return to this restaurant for dinner.

Thanks to the fantastic advice of our waiter Orlando, the choice of dishes has been excellent. Good service, good dinner, good atmosphere... a night to remember!

Of the classic NY steakhouse Capital grille does not stay on top of my personal list, thou I had a good meal. The lobster Mac and cheese had almost a full lobster on top. Steaks are good. Price is lower than other steakhouses which makes it a good find for price conscious eaters. Good desserts

Food was delicious, and Steve Ringwald was a great host - we cannot thank him enough for making our evening a fabulous one for the fourteen of us.

Had a rez at the bar area for the Wagyu burger event. On arrival, the manager Jeffrey informed me they did not have a table for me due to a party, but offered main dining room with the bar menu being available. Service was excellent, and the shrimp cocktail was great. Had the mushroom-wagyu burger with a great Cab. Ambience was excellent, and the vault downstairs was neat. Location is prime if you are in lower Manhattan. I will definitely come back on my next trip to NY.

We had a business lunch which was a big success. The food and service were superb. The steak was right on the money and the side dishes were delicious. The list of alcohol drinks was extensive. Their crème brûlée was the prefect way to finish off the scrumptious lunch. The waiting staff were lovely. We will be back for sure.

felt like a queen table was decorated to celebrate my birthday-a glass of champagne, and a wondeful dessert with a candle fabulous service as usual but this time A+ by Michael our special server lobster was outstanding steak was outstanding wish it was my birthday again next month the restaurant was quiet enough that we could talk and not compete with others all staff were so welcoming go there!!

Food, service and ambiance were terrific. Started with lobster and crab appetizer garnished with corn relish. Tuna was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Asparagus was fresh and crisp. Just delicious. And to top it off, they served a complimentary dessert and champagne as a birthday celebration.

My son and I had a fabulous meal Friday evening. Started out with some great cocktails and a bread basket that has an array of wonderful options. We both had filet mignon but I had it sliced with mushrooms, cippollini onions and a red wine sauce with fig essence. The meat was cooked to perfection, medium with a nice crust. The creamed spinach and mashed potatoes were delicious sides. The creme brûlée with assorted berries rounded out a perfect meal. The night was made more special because our server Michael was accommodating, friendly and just made our experience so much better!!!

Obviously The Capital Grille has been listening to Mike Tomlin and knows the standard is the standard. Everything at this restaurant, from the food, to the service, to the decor, is top notch. They cater to the finance elites that work in midtown Manahattan. You know the type that swirls and sniffs their wine for five minutes before taking a sip. I ordered the sliced filet with cipollini onions, wild mushrooms and fig essence. It came rare instead of medium rare, but I wasn't complaining.

Having eaten in many top restaurants in the world this was on another level, Tony looked after myself and family incredibly well. My 3 year old daughter was also spoiled with crayons and nothing was an issue. This place is very special with attention to detail second to none thank you for an incredible night.❤️

Simply cannot say enough about Capital Grille. Attending dinner with friends after their wedding, we were treated to an amazing meal and such fantastic attention. My newly wedded friends were congratulated by all staff and the campaign on the house was a lovely touch. My meal of NY Strip and Ribeye on the bone was otherworldly. The lobster Mac & Cheese was amazing and I sincerely wish I could remember our waiters name because he was just a lovely lovely man who made our evening just a little more enjoyable.

This is quite easily the best meal and service we have had in New York. It’s not a cheap meal, but the quality is amazing and when combined with the silky smooth service its value for money. Our server (Amy K) was brilliant, there when we needed her, really helpful but also gave us space to enjoy the Meal. We started with a couple of really nice cocktails, each had a steak plus sides of creamed spinach and lobster Mac ‘n Cheese. This was way too much food for us, but they happily bagged the leftovers. We also had a nice red, which went well with the steak. If you’re in NYC and seeking a Special meal, this is hard to go past.

Like any other Capital Grille restaurant this one does not disappoint you in any way. Perfect ambiance and service along with the well known CG-classics. You just cannot go wrong. Special thanks to our waiter Barry Swain who took special care of us. We had a great evening with epic wines and fabulous food.

Good ambiance, nice decor, excellent service, exceptional cocktails, tremendous food, wonderful meats and fabulous desserts. We had a blazing last evening in New York at the Capitale Grill 42nd. What else ?

My husband loves coming to this restaurant because it is an outstanding place to eat. The service is impeccable. The attentiveness to detail is exquisite. The food is top notch the drinks are incredible. There’s isn’t anything that you can’t order on the menu that tastes bad. We have a coming to The Capital Grille for many years and it keeps getting better. Our server at this restaurant was named Daniel and he was wonderful, he made us feel very welcome and very comfortable not rushed. I love their signature stoli doli drink which is a pineapple infused vodka martini. I also love their dirty martinis because their olives are stuffed with blue cheese. And I highly recommend that you do not leave the restaurant without ordering the dessert called the coconut cream pie. I don’t care for coconut however this desert is divine.

We went for the dry aged NY strip for lunch. The steak was grilled nicely to my preferred temperature and was flavorful. The grilled asparagus was also flavorful, but it would be perfect if they cut them a bit shorter; the bottom part was a bit chewy. Service was generally good.

The crab cocktail was very good, full of lump crab meat. The clam chowder had a bit too much potatoes and not enough clams. The filet with lobster was underwhelming, with the filet a little over done (asked for medium rare) and the lobster a bit rubbery. Service was good and the location is nice.

Everything was very good. Friendly service and very good food. The restaurant is a little “old-fashioned” but the important thing is the food and the service

The Capital Grille is always 100% guarantee whether you are in New York, Mexico City or Boca Raton or anywhere. This one is so special as you are inside the Chrysler building. Same great service, same (no real big differences) menu, same great wines - a truly enjoyable and delicious meal. I rarely eat meat and select fish all the time and am always happy.

I visited The Capital Grille with a large group of work colleagues. The staff handled the group well, and the service was smooth from start to finish. I ordered the calamari to start, which was fresh and had a bit of spice. For the main course, I had the rib eye on the bone. It was cooked exactly how I asked and was one of the best steaks I’ve had. The wine list is large and offers a wide range of prices, so there’s something for every budget. Overall, a solid experience. I’ll definitely be back.

Meat is excellent and side dish as well. The staff is very friendly. Restaurant deco is nice. We will go back again

I love the capital grille because + the one located at the Chrysler building has a fantastic atmosphere + the appetizers and sides are already sufficient to feed any hunger and are delicious + the Steaks come at a good price and mine have always been great + the complimentary food basket is great + the deserts are from heaven! + staff is always friendly and entertaining + special occasions get even more special attention. There is just nothing that would make me take a star away. Special Thanks to James and everybody else, who made us feel so very special at our anniversary.

Best steak in my life! Great and elegant atmosphere. Excellent service (bravo a Teresa!). Beef is simply amazing but fish as well! Really my best steak in life. Strongly reccomended.

Great experience at the Capital Grille. This the new location on the north side of the MetLife building. The decor is elegant, service was friendly and attentive, and our steaks were delicious. Great location for a nice dinner or drinks at the front bar.

I asked for a quiet romantic table and I was not disappointed – a beautiful quiet table in the corner. As a first-time visitor I was immediately impressed with this restaurant. It is a beautiful place. High end decorations, fantastic ambience, linens and candles on the tables, attentive service staff, and top of the line food and drink. My kind of place! Don’t be fooled, a dining experience like this comes with a price – but one I am always happy to pay because I love high end restaurants and am I willing to pay for the experience. Now the reason for my 2 stars: About halfway through our wonderful evening our quiet, romantic table became overrun with people entering a back room for some sort of meeting. They shuffled in like cattle and the attendees were hovering all around the entrance of the meeting room and since our table was right there they ended up hovering all around us! I thought I had asked for a quiet table! The noise and commotion was so aggravating to us that it absolutely ruined an otherwise perfect dining experience and the reason I am ticked off is that staff did nothing about it. I mentioned to the waiter my unhappiness with this crowd of people around us and he said he would get the manager. She did absolutely nothing about it. When it came for the check she brought it over, plunked in down front of me and walked away without the utterance of a single word – not even the slightest of apologies. At those prices I expect better. Someone should have spoken with the people causing the commotion before it became a problem (or) she should have come over and spoken with me personally about it – perhaps offer some form of apology for the bad experience. Do something! Anything! You don’t just walk away and completely ignore the issue – that’s unacceptable, terrible management.

I ate lunch with my sister in law and another friend. I had the salad which was delicious, grilled Brussels sprouts, 8 oz. filet mignon and dark chocolate cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and coffee. Everything was delicious!

Went here with my wife on our honeymoon and it was actually on her birthday as well. Food was brilliant and service was great. Really recommend this place. Steak was great too, Fillet Steak was huge too!

Restaurant is located close to Times Square. We went for dinner during restaurant week. We had an awesome experience with the wine tasting menu and excellent food. Great experience especially because of service. Edgar was super friendly and funny. I recommend.

Absolutely brilliant, can't praise this place highly enough,10 adults and 2 babies for a wedding celebration meal, every item of the meal was cooked to perfection, between us we chose a wide variety from the menu and could not fault a single thing. James headed our service team and was amazing knowledgeable and really friendly ,as was everyone .

What a treat! they really look after you, from our waitress Rachel to the manager Alex Hayes they are really knowledgable on the food, cuts of meat, and the wine is first class, the ambiance was perfect, when we are next in New York this will definitely be on our to do list

The restaurant has great food and service and is a short walk to Grand Central Terminal. Very good for business lunches, however the prices are high and there is not a "lunch special." The coconut cream pie is out of this world and a must have.

We had a late lunch and so weren't really hungry enough for dinner. But having a glass of wine and noshes at the bar were just what we wanted. A very lively bar scene and fun vibe.

We both opted for the steaks 1 fillet and 1 porterhouse , cooked to perfection and the sides were great also , my jumbo cocktail was tasty and we always visit CG when we come to New York and it didn’t disappoint

Had dinner here and I just wanted say what a great service team you have in Mark and Matt, I always loath going out for a work dinner with 15+ people and the restaurant gives us 1 server to handle everything . It was obvious these two guys worked well together and the management was there two to add and supplement on top. BTW the Surf and Turf was awesome.

Three of us came for dinner . We had the pre theatre menu which we all thoroughly enjoyed but the meal was spoiled by our main course being served before one of us had finished the starter and hers being left on table to cool while finishing starter......not very good. Had to ask for it to be taken away. Surely it is manners to serve everyone at same time. Felt very embarrassed for our friend who was still finishing first course . We come here every time we visit New York and always look forward but this spoilt our visit.

We’d booked online and then when I printed off all the bits to take with us for our weekend break, realised that we had booked for the Time Life building restaurant... Panic... this was for our wedding anniversary and we were staying half a block from the Chrysler building! I struggled to change the booking online so ended up calling the restaurants - first off the Chrysler building to check we could actually get a table and then TL to cancel the original booking... Lovely, understanding folks and, fortunately, no issues in changing our booking. So.. to the food and our overall experience... Just fabulous - the wine list (on an iPad) was amazing with some unusual wines and, whilst expensive, not outrageous when you consider the quality of the wine... stunning and really interesting. I had oysters (fitting really, as we’d had a cascade of oysters at our wedding all those years ago...), followed by a Veal Tomahawk steak, topped with a Foie Gras butter - my view is to always try for menu items that aren’t always available elsewhere, particularly if the general feel of the restaurant gives confidence. My faith was well placed - divine, perfectly cooked, with just the right char on the outside but perfectly pink throughout... Dessert was almost in question - by this stage, we were extremely well fed but were delighted to be presented with a complimentary cheesecake and a decorated plate bearing the words ‘Happy Anniversary’ To our server, Steve, and the rest of the team - many, many thanks...! PS. I’m embarrassed to say that this review should have been left a week or so ago... the memories and the grateful thanks are still the same nevertheless...

We visited here for my Birthday. The staff were excellent from the start. We had a drink at the bar and then we were shown to our table which had been decorated for my birthday and I had a card from the restaurant. (Lovely touch) the food was amazing. And the drinks were delicious too. We had a few cocktails and they were all lovely. It’s a little pricey but for a special occasion it is definitely worth it. Portion sizes were huge, we ordered 2 sides with our steaks and couldn’t finish it all. If ever I’m back in NYC I will 100% go back.

We went for our Anniversary on Thanksgiving Day. It was exceptionally busy and we had about a 15 min wait once we checked in and just relaxed at the bar. We were taken to our table and found hearts etc sprinkled on the table and a hand written Anniversary Congratulations card. This was above and beyond! They had their regular menu which is amazing or their Chef’s rendition of Thanksgiving Dinner. We picked the Thanksgiving menu and it was delicious. Our server brought us champagne and a huge cheescake on the house to honour our special day. Well done Capital Grille Chrysler Centre. One of our best dining experiences! Thanks for making our Anniversary so special!!

The ambience is lovely, low lit and lots of candles, pristine white tablecloths and on arrival our table was scattered with party confetti and a birthday card for my husband. We got a brief history of the restaurant and as I wasn’t drinking alcohol they offered to make me a mocktail based on my fruit preferences. We were advised that the food portions were big and therefore not to order too much. It was true! All courses were exquisite and cooked to perfection. We got a lovely birthday dessert for free with a candle and two free glasses of champagne-mine was non alcoholic but served in the same champagne flute. From start to finish the service was amazing and good value given the high quality of food. Highly recommended.

It can carry the stigma of a chain restaurant and get lost in traffic with other big names in the steak business, but don’t let that steer you wrong because Capital Grille is the real deal. I’ve visited a variety of locations, most recently for a business lunch at midtown east, and each time it has delivered. For this latest lunch trip, our group of three ordered oysters, mushroom bisque and clam chowder to start. All excellent. We followed that with two porter house steaks to share cooked medium rare. They were cooked and seasoned perfectly. Could not have been more pleased. My favorite part is always the filet. Each bite is just delectable. For sides, we had yummy Brussels sprouts and mash potatoes. Perfect compliments. And we finished off with some tea and coffee. The ambience and service took the experience to the next level. The space and decor are upscale and charming. Our server was a gentleman and even inquired as to any time constraints. We were served our meals like special guests. And the courses arrived in reasonable times and we were in and out seamlessly. I think Capital Grille is particularly great for business lunches. It certainly is on my short list.

We booked this following a recommendation from our friends work colleague who had lived here. We arrived an hour early and sat near the bar and enjoyed pre dinner drinks and cocktails. Service was excellent. We were taken to our seats which whilst comfortable were a tad snug making it necessary to slide in/out. Our waiter, Natalie spent some time helping us with the numerous main choices and bringing wines for us to taste, which was nice, but we stayed with our initial selection. Everything except one steak was perfect and Natalie was with us when we cut into them, immediately she asked if the over cooked filet was acceptable as she thought it was not right. They brought a replacement almost immediately. We loved the experience and nearly three hours after we arrived we left very pleased.

Absolutely 5 stars! Service was top notch. Menu selections were excellent, wine selection and cocktails were spectacular. A marvelous way to close out an important event.

We have eaten steak all over Europe and the USA. Nothing has been as well cooked, as tasty and as tender as what we had last night. Add in the great atmosphere, attentive service, excellent clam chowder and cheesecake, not forgetting perfectly mixed cocktails and you have a truly memorable meal. Our number one choice for future visits to NYC.

Ate here with some business colleagues and although this is a big steak place and I am a vegetarian, I found some light choices. The potato soup was delicious and perfect for a blustery day. I also had a nice salad which was fresh and tasty.

wow. We stumbled across this place. Amazing ambience. Atmosphere and service. Food was incredible. I had truffle fries and scallops with asparagus. Absolutely delish.

Stellar! Everything from the food (divine) to the hospitality was impeccable. They really take very good care of you and the steak is so so good! Looking forward to going back!

This is absolutely one of the best experiences my husband and I have had at a NYC restaurant. The atmosphere, the welcome from check in and the top shelf server, Steven Ringwald who doted on us the whole night were all perfect! My husband and I both had Waku steak, mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach as well as mango sorbet and chocolate ice cream and everything had a home cooked feel to it with but with an extra special flair to it. Even their selection of breads in their bread basket were fun! Robert, one of the Managers took the time to stop by our table and see how our Anniversray meal was going and they also brought us an extra special dessert, which was a cheesecake with berries and Happy Anniversary written on the plate. We will definitely be back and will be recommending The Capital Grille to family and friends.

We decided to go local for dinner and this was a good choice .The food was lovely ,the ambience was nice ,we never felt rushed at all.Our waiter knew his stuff as well ,good suggestions on both food and wine .Overall a good experience if not a little pricey ,we think it needs to decide if it is upmarket and you dress accordinly or expensive middle of the road.Would I go again ?yes i think so

We had lobster bisque, clam chowder followed by chicken risotto and steak with Roquefort crust! All delicious. Our server ‘Rian’ was just a delight, so polite and helpful and just a ray of sunshine. It was our anniversary and we were presented with a lovely desert and some fizz. Thank you I highly recommend.

Reservations are required. The restaurant has a great New York City steakhouse ambience. Dark with big comfortable booths and tables. It was crowded but the noise level was not too bad. The food was served in an elegant manner. Our server Eireann was delightful. It was a lovely little but pricey meal.

Very nice steak house really well served and a very nice cheesecake it’s the second time I came and the service and me meal r great.

The Capital Grille is a world renowned upscale fine dining restaurant that offers guests first class service and top quality dishes ranging from steaks, lamb chops, chicken and salmon based meals. In February of 2024, I brought and treated myself and my wife for dinner at Capital Grill, specifically the branch based at the Chrysler Center, to celebrate our Happy Six Year Anniversary!!! We’d like to thank Capital Grill for making our anniversary truly special, and one in which we’ll forever cherish. We were warmly welcomed by the restaurant’s staff and were quickly provided with a very comfortable table. Throughout the evening, the staff graciously acknowledged and wished us a wonderful anniversary and thanked us for celebrating the occasion at Capital Grille. Our server, Corey O treated us with impeccable hospitality and made us feel very welcomed and right at home!!! He was kind, incredibly courteous, superbly addressed all of our inquiries and offered great insight and suggestions on the menu options. In addition to the great service, both my wife and I were impressed with Capital Grille’s elegant settings, especially the dark wood paneled interior, the tall glass windows, and the gorgeous art portraits spread throughout the restaurant. The playing of jazz music and classic hits sung by Billie Holiday & Louis Armstrong were also a great treat and enriched our romantic evening!!! Last, but certainly not least, my wife and I absolutely loved our meals. Everything from the appetizers to the entrees to our dessert was perfectly delicious!!! On a scale of 1 to 10, I would grade our meals a score of “ Infinity & Beyond.” My wife ordered and enjoyed her lamb chop based entree & her spinach side dish, while I ordered and loved my pan seared salmon based entree & my mash potato side dish. Our meals were superbly seasoned, tasty and wonderfully cooked. Our dessert, the Classic Crème Brûlée was simply off the charts and unquestionably delicious!!! We’d like to again thank Capital Grille for making our anniversary celebration truly special, and for providing us with an amazing dining experience!!! It definitely ranks among our favorite restaurants and we highly recommend for everyone to visit and dine at this outstanding steakhouse chain!!!

Absolutely amazing ! We were there with a large group but still had attentive wait staff and excellent service. Food was delicious and cooked to perfection. My husband had the filet mignon (well done as ordered) and I had the roasted chicken breast with wild mushroom risotto. My chocolate Martini was excellent as was the cheesecake for dessert. If we get to New York again we will definitely eat there.

After a lot of online research, we eventually plumped for Capital Grille to celebrate my 60th birthday and our first trip to New York! What a great choice it turned out to be! We were greeted warmly and shown to our table which had been decorated and a card left for me. A complimentary cocktail and champagne were then forthcoming! Our server Steve was really friendly and quickly answered any questions we had regarding the menu. Our appetisers were lovely and the filet mignon we both chose was fabulous and cooked perfectly. We chose two sides to share and couldn't finish it all. While we were relaxing with a glass of Malbec, Steve brought over a complimentary sharing dessert which was a lovely gesture and very yummy! It was by far the best meal we had in the six days we were in New York and certainly made my 60th birthday a very special occasion. Thank you Steve Ringwald and Capital Grille - you were great!

Wanted to go to steakhouse for my birthday and there are many here in NYC but so expensive. We chose CG on a recommendation from close friends and we loved it. the service was a great balance of attention with our being in our faces. The NY strip was perfectly medium rare and we split one of the salads to start. We highly recommend this chain. Oh, we advised them it was my birthday and we received a comp treat to finish.

We Went yo have dinner and leave the Restauranr late, the lady attending was more than kínd, but the do no have the lobster, ínstead have a combo of meat and lobster ( bar combination because both are regular) I forgot my umbrella and the next day very early I went to pick ir up And the y never found it, No respect the custumer

The food was amazing, but our experience was negatively impacted by the service. Lisa, our waitress, was very rude and not helpful. She never told us about the specials of the day and even charged us for sparkling water that we didn’t order or drink. Overall, it was a disappointing experience due to her lack of people skills.

We have dined at the Capital Grill in a number of cities. This one is just down the street from the Grand Hyatt where we were staying. We split a DRY AGED NY STRIP AU POIVRE WITH COURVOISIER CREAM - 14 OZ This is one of our "go to" steaks and plenty large enough to share. We also split a caesar salad which was huge and very tasty. The potatoes were enough for 2-3 people to share. We also had glazed brussel sprouts which were delicious but more than we could eat. The real point of this review is the consistency of the food. Always exceptional. I can't say the service was up to par. Our steak was delivered and the potatoes, perhaps 5 minutes later. We had to remind our waiter that we ordered the brussel sprouts. We were half way through our meal before they arrived. Not your typical Capital Grill service. You can't go wrong dining at The Capital Grill but this visit had a glitch in the service. Hopefully it was an aberration. I am sure we will return at some future date. I will update my review at that time.

We ate here to celebrate a 25th Wedding Anniversary & a special birthday and we were all so pleased we did. The food was to die for - steaks that melted in your mouth, perfectly cooked veal chop and vegetables to match. The French Onion Soup was the best any of us had ever had. All in all a perfect meal, easily the best we had in New York, served by professional, friendly, knowledgeable people. Thanks all. 100% recommended. Enjoy.

You won't be disappointed. Barry took great care of us, our favorite steak house in Arizona as well.

The Capital Grill is a great place for lunch if you need to keep it under an hour. Just tell your server and they will accommodate you. Food is top notch and service is always spot on. Trying to save my 5 star ratings for only exceptional places in 2020. Enjoy.

After walking out of the Capital Grille in downtown Miami, we finally got to try this high end chain restaurant at Chrysler Center, in Manhattan. We chose to eat here as the other reviews were favorable, and I used to work down the block. It was nice to be under my favorite in NYC, the fabulous stainless steel deco designed Chrysler Building! Not easy to park in Manhattan, there is no restaurant parking, or any on 42nd between 3rd and Lexington Avenue, but we found a spot nearby! We had reservations at 4:30 on a Friday afternoon, and were seated immediately. The staff is very gracious and we had great service from Sara, our server. She came to the table immediately and graciously took our order. We got two bowls of onion soup. They also offer a cup, but I heard it was so good, I wanted a big one. We also got Tuna Tartare which looked good, but I didn’t try, Calamari, also not for me, and a wedge salad for me, for appetizers. I’ll be honest, the soup LOOKED impressive, and technically it was full of nice cooked onions, had lots of cheese, but it really didn’t TASTE all that great. In Miami at Prime 112 one of the waiters, compared Capital Grille onion soup, to theirs. Well...no comparison. The flavor of the soup, the cheese used, the caramelized onions baked over the top with a crunch, none of that was the case here. The soup flavor itself was not really an onion soup flavor, it was kind of smokey flavored, like when Outback Steakhouse has an off day. The soup flavor was actually distasteful to me, and the cheese really had no distinct flavor at all, so didn’t help, as it was just melted tasteless substance. A good cheese could’ve done a lot to improve the flavor. It was like a low salt mozzarella and did nothing to help improve the flavor. It was a big, cheesy, oniony, TOTAL disappointment. All the right elements, but not the right flavor. At least for me. Plenty probably love it, but I have had onion soup galore in my life. I deem this one, far from the best. No comparison to Prime 112 Miami, but NO place can top theirs. It’s on a level of its own. To give it more perspective, I think Applebee’s onion soup beats the one here, and a local Diner I go to, has onion soup that is my second favorite to Prime 112. So, my biggest reason for wanting to try Capital Grille, was really very disappointing. The wedge salad again, decent but absolutely nothing that impressive or special, a couple of halved grape tomatoes amounting to 1 and 1/2 grape tomatoes. Ok blue cheese dressing, not chunky and they don’t have crumbles. Not a bacon fan, so gave mine I requested on the side, away. Outback Steakhouse has the best wedge salad, and salads in general. Beats this place by far. For our main courses, my husband got the dry aged au poivre strip with courvoisier cream , which was drowned in peppercorn and bland cream. He asked for other steak sauce as he didn’t like it. My daughter and I ordered the seared tenderloin with butter poached lobster tails. We were going to share it because pictures made it look big, but it was TINY. Little pieces of meat, and two tiny shrunken lobster tails. I’ve never seen lobster tails this small. For the price, this was a huge ripoff. Sara might have mentioned it was not a large portion when we mentioned we were sharing, but didn’t. I let our daughter keep it for herself since she wanted it, and ordered the 10 Oz filet for myself, blue and cold center, and they got this TOTALLY right. Delicious filet, best part of the meal, tender melt in your mouth meat, prepared perfectly! To share we got the lobster Mac and cheese. It was like Del Frisco’s, in a tiny round plate, NOT an oval platter covered in lobster chunks as someone else described. Lucky them, we obviously got the lobster cheapskate chef. Plus the macaroni was so undercooked, it was still hard and chewy. Al dente lobster Mac and cheese? Really? The taste was delicious, very cheesy, could’ve been outstanding if we got cooked soft macaroni, and more than 3 little pieces of lobster, plus a normal sized portion. It was small and barely had lobster. We called over the manager regarding the portion sizes of the tenderloin and the Lobster Mac and Cheese, but pointed as if we somehow missed it, then he said “there’s 3 pieces of lobster” as if that is explanation enough. He graciously offered us mashed potatoes, which were in the oval tray I expected the lobster Mac and cheese to be in. They were good, but mashed potatoes are commonplace and didn’t really make up for the undercooked, light on lobster, Mac and cheese. Nor is it a terribly pricy dish to generously offer. Dessert time. The ricotta Capital Grille cheesecake was absolutely awesome! Delicious. I recommend! I got the coconut cream pie. It was basically a non substantial large pile of whipped cream in a pie crust with some coconut flavor and a big flat coconut cookie standing in it. There was no pie to it. It was in a pie crust, so I guess that made it a pie? Hmmm. Very tasty, yes...but not what I expected. It was better after being refrigerated which gave it more substance as my take home and eat the next day. Overall, service was 5 stars, attentive, friendly, and they did their best to address the disappointments. The bathroom was gorgeous, with 4 large fully private cubbies! Best case scenario, nearby with no stairs to climb, down a private hall, close yet far from tables. Bravo, immaculate and well appointed. Nice cozy atmosphere, good service, and some good food, despite more than a couple of disappointments. I don’t think that we would ever return, but I would say there was enough potential and enjoyment to recommend you try it for yourself and maybe depending on who’s cooking, you may have a better experience. Cooked macaroni for example!

The best service I have ever recieved. John frontal Colombia was our waiter. But every one was very nice.

Our experience here was absolutely wonderful from the moment we arrived. We were celebrating my birthday anyway but we had also just got engaged up the Empire State Building so it was a double celebration in the end. The staff were all so friendly and congratulated us throughout the night. Our server Rachel V was just so lovely and very knowledgeable about the dishes. The porterhouse steak was cooked to perfection and the brussels side dish was delicious. (Thanks for the recommendation Rachel) We had the gratins too which were also very yummy! Thank you all for such a memorable first meal as an engaged couple!

So I popped in here for lunch as I really wanted a top quality burger and some oysters. I couldn’t have made a better choice. The oysters were amazing (6 for $20) and I followed that up with their cheeseburger which I have to say was probably one of the best burgers I have ever eaten! Full of flavour, moist and cooked just as I asked! Added to that was the barman Johnny (John) who was incredibly helpful courteous and friendly! It’s not rocket science but if you put great food together with great service at reasonable prices you get a really great dining experience! Move over Gordon Ramsay!!

Any of the Capital Grille’s in NYC excel at delivering great food and great service. They are the best steakhouses for business in NYC. Super consistent!

For my birthday celebration, I want to especially thank the amazing staff at Capital Grille in the Metlife Building, as I genuinely appreciate all of their efforts. I appreciate especially Cory and Juanita for going above and beyond in their service attention and care at our Private room (The Capital Room) . Their effort in planning my event and trying to meet all my requests was commendable. Also, special thanks to Shelby Schultz and Jill Dickstein for assisting me so effectively during the reservation planning. For someone like me who works and maintains a schedule overseas, your support and professionalism made it easy and manageable. I thank you for making it so special. All 16 of us enjoyed the beautiful ambience as well as the dining options provided. The food was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful as well With heartfelt appreciation

My friends and I dined here last night. We always like to request the table near the window in the larger dining room due to the noise level. Since it is NYC Restaurant Week we took advantage of ordering from their menu. Our wait staff was efficient and gave us enough time to decide what we wanted. Three of us ordered the steak and the other person ordered the salmon. All of us ordered the wedge salad. Our requests for how we wanted our entrees cooked was right on delicious. Choice of vegetables with pre fix was limited. (Mashed potatoes and string beans) My friend and I ordered a side of grilled mushrooms which was very tasteful. Dessert choices were limited and when you give your wait person your order you have to give appetizer, entree and dessert at the same time. Just a suggestion more choices for accompanying vegetables as well as a few more options for dessert. I have been to Capital Grill many times and have always enjoyed my meal. If you can go during Restaurant Week it is a real bargain!

Wow, booked this restaurant though New York’s restaurant weeks promotions and so glad we did. Awsome bread basket to start followed by fantastic starters and the most perfectly cooked thick cut steak I’ve ever had.

What a wonderful experience. The food is so delicious. We had a great evening out. The service was great and the bill was absolutely reasonable.

We went for dinner tonight after seeing a Broadway matinee. We each shared the steak tartare, which had just enough chopped egg, capers and onion. We each had the filet which, as a previous poster noted, melts in your mouth. We also had the creamed spinach and mashed potatoes and shared a coconut cream pie serving. The bartender made the BEST Cosmopolitan I ever had. Steve Kotatis took excellent care of us and is to be commended for his outstanding service. A terrific dining experience all the way around.

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at The Capital Grille on Manhattan's East Side. Great food (filet mignon), service, and ambience. Highly recommend.

I was in town for NRF and had dinner here last night. The meal was fantastic, but the service was even better. I had inadvertently left my coat and the manager personally walked the coat over the next day as the weather was turning. I was so blown away by this exceptional service that I will forever visit the Capital Grille both for the quality of the food AND the quality and dedication of the staff. When you are traveling weekly like me, you want a restaurant that understands and caters to the unique challenges of business travel and travel meals.

This restaurant features tender quality beef that can not be surpassed. Service is also superior! Enjoy eating at Capital Grille in Manhattan and 'Washington DC!

Not overwhelmed! Quite loud. Service was excellent, food was not. Calamari too many peppers; bread basket very nice; ribeye too vinegary and very tough. Complimentary after dinner drink and desserts a nice touch.

We had a wonderful time celebrating our anniversary. Everything is top-notch. The server was great and the food great. Our server, Phil Mamby was terrific and very helpful.

We had the clam chowder and cheeseburgers and the tenderloin salad. Everytrhing was perfectyly cooked. We were at the end of lunch time and we had a very leisurely meal. Tony was a very good server.

Made a reservation here as it was just down from our hotel. Food and atmosphere was lovely. We had Leo as our waiter and he was fantastic, very helpful and attentive. Was a bit pricey, especially given the conversion rates to the Australian dollar but if you are looking for a great steak and a pleasant dining experience I’d definitely recommend.

We stopped at the Capital Grille after seeing a Broadway show and even though it was 11:00pm and they close at midnight during the week, we received excellent service. We were seated immediately and greeted by name by our server, Steve. The meal was delicious and service by the team, impeccable. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Ate here on a Saturday night. Had reservations for 8 and was seated immediately. The wait staff were excellent. I had the Sliced Filet Mignon and it cut with a fork. Girlfriend had the Sea Bass in butter and it was amazing, also. Conveniently located near Grand Central Terminal. Perfect restaurant for a special occasion. Loved the ambiance.

I recently dined at this restaurant while in town for business; I’ve dined at multiple Michelin star restaurants and was pleasantly surprised by our server Yash. I would put his service up against that of any other at any Michelin rated restaurant. He anticipated the needs of my party like that of someone with clairvoyant gifts. I would return only for that level of service again. Management hopefully takes notice before that of a competitor.

Great atmosphere, professional restaurant service, and one of the best filet mignon … Very recommended.

Excellent food, we ordered several cuts to share, along with asparagus, brussels sprouts and truffled potatoes. delicious.
Best Bar in NYC
We go to the bar almost every week for an early dinner at this Capital Grill Location. The bar team especially Dan, Scott & Johnny recognize their regulars and see to it that they are seated and treated as honored guests -no matter how busy they are. It’s a great thing when the service matches the food because let’s face it, the Steak and well prepared sides at Capital are hard to match!
