BEST IN NEW YORK!!! AMAZING!

By DF7132011 |

Wow! The Champagne Bar is so incredible! We were in New York for a few days and decided to wander through the Plaza Shops and find a place to sit and have a glass of bubbly! We got a perfect table for 2 at the Champagne Bar! We ended up spending 4 hours here! We were so lucky to have encountered the 2 most AMAZING waiters! Larry & Andrei. These two waiters are truly top notch incredible guys! Their impeccable service was hands down the best I ever, much better than Per Se!! We had such an amazing day! We ordered 2 bottles of champagne, snacks, fries, more snacks and then we ordered the Champagne flight to finish! Just so phenomenal.. Did I mention the champagne list is off the charts ridiculously great! Larry & Andrei make this place so special! They are so enthusiastic, funny and just love their jobs! We plan on spending everyday here!! Love this place!!!! Our favorite!

Nice ambiance, lousy service

By Fanofluxury |

My husband and I stopped at the lobby bar for an afternoon cocktails. Beautiful ambience, the drinks were also delicious. What was out of place was the constant chewing of the lovely waitress. She either had a chewing gum in her mouth or used the time two have her afternoon snack. Either way - was rather unpleasant. We left within 10 minutes, unable to stand the rudeness, when we tried to politely point the waitress attention to that.

The Best spot in NYC for lunch!

By GeneTyler |

In the lobby of the famous Plaza Hotel, The Champaign Bar is the perfect place to stop in for lunch, and of course champagne! Ivitza is the best server in the city. He will take great care of you!!

Cosy bar upstairs

By AustinEEE |

We spent the last part of an evening in the upper level, upstairs. Great place for a little conversations and drinks. Unlike the rest of the plaza and area, you don't feel smothered by the masses.

A warm welcome, great atmosphere and excellent cocktails

By Gary M |

Osidge’s the Champagne Bar for a break during a shopping trip. Two stand out employees - Joe gave us a very warm welcome and helped us getting a seat at the bar. Laura working the bar was the consummate host, serving excellent cocktails! We were made to few very welcome … and we will be back!

The Champagne Bar is a highlight

By Michael3288 |

We didn't stay at the hotel, but stopped in for champagne and hors d'oeuvres. The service was amazing. The oysters were delicious. The experience was priceless. If you want a romantic "date" with your significant other, this is something you might consider.

This is not what I expected

By efrat2018 |

When In New York recently, I went to the Plaza which is a landmark, I thought let's see what its all about, I thought we would have a drink, and enjoy the sites, This was so not what I had expected, the revolving doors into the hotel said it all, they where full of fingermarks, there was no one there to greet you, and to me it just felt like a big let down.

A tired old lady

By PMcG11 |

We chose not to stay at this hotel but paid a visit to the Champagne Bar. Oh, dear! This hotel really needs some loving attention. The staff, whilst friendly enough, were quite scruffy for attending a Champagne Bar with ill-fitting suites, chewing gum, and ties loosened with the top button undone. I don't mind informality but there is a way to do it and this is most definitely not it. The bar itself is an adjunct to the new check-in area so you have people waiting to leave with luggage sitting down whilst you are trying to enjoy champagne on a special occasion. The whole hotel, with the on-going fiasco of the closure of the Oak Room Bar, and focus on the private apartments rather than the much reduced hotel rooms, has removed much of the grandeur that this old lady of a hotel once had. It is far removed from the Macaulay Culkin film. Please owners try and restore it to its former glory.

Disappointing

By jjw81 |

Disappointing. In New York. December 2024 Attempted to visit the champagne bar, both well dressed - suit and tie. Door persons turning everyone way - hotel guests only in December. That is fine, but at least up date the website so people don't have a wasted trip or plan their day around a visit. ridiculous service.

Absolutely awful

By Caryn B. |

We visited the Champagne Bar last Saturday and were treated horribly by a rude, dismissive server who tacked on an 18% gratuity which we did not agree to and would not have given him. Don't waste your money on this boring, overpriced and tacky bar with terrible service.

Lovely space

By heather j |

A coworker friend and I popped in here for a quick lunch. The room (including the ceiling) is stunning — classically elegant and very well maintained. The high backed velvet armed chairs were incredibly comfortable at our table near a window. The food was good, but I ordered lobster bisque and there were only 2 microscopic pieces of lobster in it. Not a big deal because the taste and consistency of the bisque was great, but I just expected a little more. Overall, a lovely experience. I would love to go to the Plaza for tea or cocktails.

The Champagne Bar

By Mouna F |

My husband and I frequent NYC several times a year. One of our favourite places to not only stay but to have a cocktail and some food is at The Champagne Bar in the Plaza hotel. After many visits, we have had the pleasure of getting to know the incredible staff. I want to give special thinks to Nick Nathani who made our Christmas dinner absolutely perfect. We have been served by Nick many times - always a great time and good conversation. We would also like to thank our friend Ivitza Matusic who always greets us with a big smile and hug. His service is no less than meticulous. We would highly recommend anyone visiting NYC to go see our friends at the Plaza hotel's Champagne Bar. You won't regret it! -Mouna&Justin

Go for a drink not a steak!

By Karen R |

It's an iconic hotel that's been in movies, so when in new york, we had to visit and have a drink or dinner.. Arrived around 5pm at the champagne bar and the venue and inside are beautiful. The staff are friendly and attentive. Was seated and decided to stay for dinner. As its so iconic we decided to opt for the porterhouse steak thinking that this steak was going to be amazing..its the plaza after all!(96 dollars per steak). Oh what a let down and disappointment. It was tough and tasteless. I even asked for another knife thinking that the knife I had was blunt as I struggled to cut through the meat. Nope it was definitely the meat. Yes we did complain and yes the manager done her best to apese us and compensated us, but it was such a disappointment and let down. I don't know if the champagne bar kitchen is shared with the plaza hotel itself but it was alot of money for a bland meal.. On the flip side I would still recommend to go here, to at least have a drink and take in the surrounding and atmosphere

A place you’ll be happy to return to ✨

By Larmar Luxury |

The Champagne Bar at the iconic The Plaza Hotel in New York, is exactly the place where elegance meets a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. During our stay at The Plaza hotel (you can read more about The Plaza hotel in our next review), we returned to the Champagne bar several times. We enjoyed the Onion Soup, Daily Soup, perfectly crispy Truffle Fries, beautifully prepared Seared Faroe Islands Salmon with delicate mashed potatoes and asparagus, Caesar Salad with shrimps and next day without shrimps, the classic Club Sandwich, and the iconic The Plaza Wagyu Burger. A sweet finale came in the form of an Ice Cream selection, delighting not only the little ones and as a treat they brought us a delicious chocolate cake. From the children’s menu, we tried the Organic City Child Chicken and the playful Skipperdee’s Sneakers — both offering a level of quality and presentation you would expect from “adult” dishes as well. All dishes were exceptionally flavorful, beautifully presented, and prepared with great attention to detail. Special thanks go to Larry for his professional, warm, and attentive service, which elevated the entire experience into a truly New York moment. A tasty buffet breakfast is also served at the Champagne Bar. A place you’ll be happy to return to ✨

Perfect 5th Ave decadent pitstop at The Plaza

By lou181818 |

I’d read it was one of the top ten champagne bars in NYC, so after some 5th Ave shop browsing, we indulged in a bottle of Taittinger ($170). We arrived around 2pm on a Saturday when there were several empty tables and by 4pm there wasn’t an empty one. Popular with hotel guests having a drink and light bite. There were plenty of choice of champagne by the glass, half bottle and bottle. Staff were friendly and attentive, pouring when glass got low. We received complimentary nuts, chocolate and popcorn. The décor and atmosphere were good and welcoming. Would have been even better if there was a view. It is street level.

Romantic Time in The Champagne Bar/ The Plaza

By DF92200 |

Love drink, after Dinner May 15th. A peaceful bar in an amazing Palace, beautiful volume and architecture, confortable and quiet, in place just to tell how you love her. Don't forget; order a cup or a bottle of Champagne; it's expensive, but Love don't cost a thing! Memorable time

Wont Be Back

By Mldthompson |

We have been a few times before and have always found the food and service to be excellent. Unfortunately the same cannot be said on this occasion. Waiting staff were inattentive and more interested in speaking with each other. We waited ages for our food despite there only being a few tables with guests and when it eventually arrived it was cold and bland and had to be put back, which I have never had to do before. No apologies given and I later found an 18% service charge had been added to the bill. Wish I'd noticed that before I'd paid as I'd have removed it given this was by far the worst meal and service experienced during the holiday. Overall for an establishment which holds itself in high regard it was an absolute disgrace.

Outstanding Bartender

By Nomadic-Route |

Carlo was great; he kept the booze coming, facilitated conversation among the people at the bar and was engaging without being overbearing,

Quick, then Long Stop

By Zinzan6 |

What a superb atmosphere, you can't help but linger, watching the action in the hotel lobby and chilling out. My wife and I stopped in on a rainy morning, predominantly to revisit the Plaza where we had stayed many years ago. The champaign bar, to the left as you walk in offers some pricey, but really good cocktails, and wait for the 'nibbles' at the bar. The spicy chocolate will take you by surprise. If you need a bit of romance over lunch, look no further.

Soo Expensive but great food and drinks

By kellyjwelton |

Food, drinks and Atmosphere is Fabulous I gave a 3 star as all of this is great but the price is just unrealistic!

More prosecco or coffee than a champagne bar!

By PMcG11 |

This bar is located next to the check-in area and for that reason doubles=up as a waiting area for those seeking rooms or waiting to be picked up with their luggage. So much more could be made of the otherwise spectacular room in which it is located but unfortunately, I was not impressed at all.

Celebrating 50 Years with Champagne, Dice, Laughter, and Nick!

By Lynnie |

Don't be put off by this room's formality. The staff will greet you warmly and make sure you're well taken care of. Nick, our waiter, joined us in our ongoing game of dice as he seamlessly took care of others. Before long we were all laughing hysterically. No need to be put off by the Plaza's reputation for, well, toniness...Step in to the Champagne Bar. You'll find it may be the highlight of your trip. We did.

Afternoon cocktail

By Vanessa H |

Not only is this one of the places in the world that I love stopping by to take in the beauty of the Plaza and sip on champagne.... BUT Nick is one of the finest Champagne connoisseur’s our there! He’s awesome and makes coming here one of the best afternoon treats! Vanessa

Don't risk it!

By Stuartd99 |

My wife and I have just returned from a visit to The Champagne Bar at the hotel where we were seated and served by staff on lounges in the corner. After a couple of cocktails - and as we were about to order food - we were asked to move as the area where we had been seated was suddenly reserved for another party. This was NOT mentioned at the time of arrival, and as regular visitors to the hotel, we were made to feel most unwelcome. If the staff were looking for an explanation as to why we didn't leave a tip, here it is. We WON'T be going back.

The Champagne bar in the Plaza hotel does not disappoint. We enjoyed a light lunch and champs! Staff was attentive and kind. Highly recommend stopping in for a French 75!

Tasteless chocolate cake. It’s hard to screw up chocolate cake. I think they ground up Kit Kat bars to reshape them into the shape of a bigger Kit Kat bar.

Classy!

Had a delicious lunch at The Champagne Bar, a luxurious and comfortable atmosphere! The service was wonderful, especially from Larry and Zuber!

Champagne Bar at the Plaza

By NuclearMamma |

There is something special about sipping champagne at the Plaza. We popped in and were lucky to get a seat at the bar as all the tables were full. We had fabulous service and ordered a champagne flight which I recommend. The pours were generous and we enjoyed some oysters with them. The cucumber mignonette they served with the oysters was phenomenal! Our fave in the flight was the Grande Dame Veuve Clicquot Rose and it was divine. Quintessential New York experience thank you Carlos for your attentive service.

Loved it.

By Brenda C |

On our way to Per Se we called in for a pre meal aperitif and thought we would have a glass of champagne. We were shown through to a lovely room and on looking at the menu decided to have the flight of 3 glasses. Being on a deadline meant that we had to drink them fairly quickly which amused the waiter. The champagnes were delicious and we enjoyed being there. It's quite posh so do dress up. That said the service was fairly informal so no one need feel out of place. Worth it for an occasion.

Always a Treat!

It's a favorite after shopping at Bergdorfs. The best dinner item on the menu is the filet - you won't go wrong!

Just great

By Raymond Abeltun |

I had a wonderfull day at the Champagne bar where i just stayed in for lunch drinks and more food and some more drinks. Just sitting a reading and enjoying the wonderfull location, level of service and the great food. Feedback from others is that it is a bit pricey, which i would agree too. But id say that considering the location, service and quality of food/drinks it is worth it.

Total disappointment

By Roby |

Aperitif with friends (I state that they have their own apartment inside the Plaza). 6 cocktails 360 usd. But other than that, no service, I had to get up to look for the waiter to bring us the card to choose cocktails..... just a place not to go. Good times when you attended “Le Cirque”. The good Plaza of the 80s-90s no longer exists. A real shame

Birthday cocktails.

By LA142 |

Me and my husband were in new York over the weekend to celebrate my 30th birthday and we popped into the champagne bar to celebrate with a cocktail. The surroundings are really gorgeous and it's such a lovely atmosphere to spend a couple of hours on an afternoon. We got a seat at the bar, I had a cosmopolitan which was delicious and generous measures. It was so nice we stayed for a few drinks. Also the bar maid Laura gave me a little plate of sweets and cakes as it was my birthday. This was such a lovely touch. Yes it is expensive but it really made my birthday extra special and I would definitely come back for a few more cocktails the next time I'm in new York.

A Moment At The Top

By Mark B |

Their is so much history at this famed hotel. It has been at the top for as long as I can remember. The Champagne Bar might be relatively new given the long history, but if you want to sit where many rich and famous have been before, give it a visit. The champagne menu tells you everything you need to know about this room. Eloquent and opulent all in one. Be prepared to relax. There is no hurry here. And if you have have to ask about prices, you probably don't want to go here.

The Service wasn‘t organised

By Benjamin |

We stayed at the Plaza Hotel so we had dinner in this restaurant, we invited a friend of us. The waiter all we‘rent really interested to do the service even for ordering we had to ask several times. We wanted a special Dom Perignon bottle year which was on the menu but was out of stock, like all the other one. The Food was good but the Service for that kind of an restaurant wasn‘t really good. At the end we paid about USD 1‘500 for an dinner we expected way more.

Perfect girls night

By Emily S |

Had a lovely evening at the plaza champagne bar. Does not take reservations. Waited in line until security said we could head to bar (we were not hotel guests). Was seated at a sofa and ordered a cheese platter and champagne. Dress up and have fun!

Awesome Staff!!

By The World is My Oyster |

Had the chance to get a few cocktails there today, and even though it is heavily overpriced, it was worth the experience! Our bartender Laura was really cool, friendly, and professional! She made some delicious cocktails while entertaining us with stories. I also had some great conversations with two of the servers; Larry and Andrei. Both were very nice and friendly. They were super attentive to each and every guest walking thru the lobby. Really glamorous place, awesome cocktails, and outstanding staff!

Indulgence

Budget for it :) Yes, you may find better cocktails at another spot and definitely cheaper but this is in the iconic Plaza Hotel and they do make marvelous champagne cocktails.

Pricey But You’re at The Plaza!

By Marianne |

It was suggested I visit The Champagne Bar at The Plaza Hotel while I was in New York City. The Champagne Bar is in the lower level lobby. Beautiful setting where we sipped some very expensive glasses of champagne. Larry took care of us providing wonderful service. Upon being seated, se were presented with a trio of dark pistachio chocolate and two different nuts. We decided to have a bite to eat with our champagne and shared a meat platter, cheese platter and tuna tartare. The tuneup was very fresh served with avocado and micro greens with thin crackers on the side. Both the cheese platter and meat platter had generous portions of four different types of cheeses and four different types of meats. They were both served with perfectly grilled bread. The cheese and meat platters were certainly worth the money charged. The champagne was $30+ a glass and was a little too pricey seeing what a bottle of Vueve Cliquot Rose costs. When all was said and done, the cost of two glasses of champagne along with the cheese, meat and tuna dishes was $200. Of course, you’re paying for the ambience and experience, and I enjoyed every minute of it! If I ever get to New York again, I would love to do high tea at The Plaza.

Great cocktails

By DrNeilG-UK |

I visited the bar with my friend whilst in NYC. The quality of the cocktails was great. We didn’t eat but it appeared very good value in comparison to some of the other places we visited. A really enjoyable and relaxing couple of hours.

Waiter Made Lunch Extra Special

By Mobile264462 |

Three generations of family enjoyed lunch in the Champagne Bar. The food was delicious, but star of the experience was Kaylin, our server. Without being asked, he volunteered to take photos for us; and the shots captured the beautiful setting as well as framing all of us in the pictures!! Kaylin was outstanding and made the day memorable by his thoughtful kindness!

A great stop!

By kwolling8 |

We were in NYC and stopped by the Plaza bar for drinks with friends we met in the city. The atmosphere is great, a casual elegant atmosphere and the service was great. Also a very nice wine selection. Well worth stopping by when you are in this part of the city. Not cheap but worth it.

Cocktails and Breakfast- AMAZING!

By Kevin394 |

We visited on April 14th and 15 2022 while stating at the Plaza. We ordered champagne in the afternoon with a few appetizers and the drinks were perfect! I think we are now hooked on champagne cocktails! Service was superb! We felt so relaxed and comfortable here- it is only open to guests of the Plaza so not crowded at all. We also had breakfast here for my daughter's birthday. My daughter said the chocolate pancakes was one of her favorites ever. I got the Eggs Benedict which was fantastic- the service was kind, friendly and accommodating. So elegant in here- absolutely loved it!

No Champagne for us at the Plaza!

By Karen M |

Spending a pre Christmas shopping and sight seeing holiday in New York, my family and I were footsore and happy! Having spent the morning skating in Central Park and visiting MoMa, we decided to treat ourselves to some Champagne at The Plaza! To say we were made to feel unwelcome was an understatement! The doorman didn't even make eye contact with us as he shooed us away to another entrance. On approach to the alternative entrance, it was a bun fight! Very chaotic and disorganised and certainly not the kind of experience we were seeking. It certainly was not the experience we had had the previous week at The Ritz in London- which was everything you would expect it to be! Such a shame, I won't be back!

A nice trip

Nice discovery. A great time spent. An enchanted break in this renowned establishment. Delicious cheesecake. And very good cocktails.

A lobby bar with spectacular cocktails, perfect service, and a see and be seen atmosphere only the Plaza can host.

Nothing but class at the Plaza Hotel

By chefgary88 |

Great bar, the champagne bar is located just off the concierge's desk in the lobby. The bar carries some of the finest champagnes in the world. Some I'm sure that you have heard of and a lot you haven't. The bar consists of seating at the bar and also some very small private tables. The Bar also doubles as a place to get coffee in the morning. True story: One-morning wife and I ordered coffee and when the bill came, I realized that I had forgotten my wallet in the room. When I told the waiter what had happened and that I would be right back, he told my wife and I that the coffee was on him. On the last day, my wife and I took him aside and thanked him with a little gift. Folks that is rare. We give the bar a double thumbs up.

New Favorite Bartender

By Jennifer P |

Recently in town for a weekend staying at our favorite hotel The Plaza and as we normally do, we spent some of Saturday evening at the Champagne Bar. While we’ve always had a pleasant experience here, our bartender tonight, Kenny Wong, far surpassed our expectations. He was courteous, friendly and funny and so knowledgeable about the drink menu offerings. Good conversation and amazing drinks capped off a great evening at the Plaza.

Posh, but grade (and price) inflation writ large

By Scott M |

The Plaza isn't really my kind of place but we were asked by a potential business partner to meet there for drinks. Sure, it's a big-bucks kind of place, but even by those standards the prices are simply unjustifiably astronomical. $18 for a Manhattan in some random NYC bar is already overpriced, but $28 for a Manhattan? Really, just no. Sure, it's posh and the service is nice and all that, but there are so many places you can do much better.
